- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, we're certainly really excited for to win our
- 0:04Speaker 1: first CTIS trophy. It's been a long time coming for us, and.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Really really thrilled for.
- 0:12Speaker 1: For Hudson and John Spetts who've been in this game
- 0:16Speaker 1: four times and they finally broke through and got they win,
- 0:20Speaker 1: and I think it's just, uh, you know, a great
- 0:24Speaker 1: team win, great program win.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Uh.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I don't know if it was pretty.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I don't know if it was our best game from
- 0:31Speaker 1: start to finish, but we accomplish what we wanted to
- 0:34Speaker 1: do and.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Get into trophy today. And also like the Thanks Sacred Heart.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I thought they did a fabulous job hosting the tournament.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Charlie Dowd CJ was really gracious. It was just really
- 0:46Speaker 1: really well run, like pretty eight years.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Last three got back in the final. It's my reminding
- 0:55Speaker 2: me of you. You did talk about it all week
- 0:58Speaker 2: and all up. I think it'll finally break through tonight.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They just said, I feel great for these guys, you know,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and you know, Hunting's have been in this game and
- 1:10Speaker 1: it's been a tough loss and tough luck with.
- 1:12Speaker 2: The three years in a row.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And it's a fun one tonight and it's just a
- 1:17Speaker 1: hard well earned win. And I'm also really happy for
- 1:21Speaker 1: Tyler because he's had a tough you know, a year
- 1:24Speaker 1: and a half. He had a tough injury last year
- 1:26Speaker 1: that he had to battle through, and then this year
- 1:28Speaker 1: he's playing great hockey and he gets hurt right before Christmas,
- 1:31Speaker 1: but he showed his metal toughness came out and I
- 1:35Speaker 1: mean it's hands down the MVP of this tournament this
- 1:38Speaker 1: weekend when you lit in one goal against two really
- 1:41Speaker 1: good teams like.
- 1:41Speaker 4: That, Hudson, I coach just talked about it. But tell
- 1:46Speaker 4: us how you feel after getting the win there?
- 1:48Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I feel great. I'd also like to thank
- 1:51Speaker 5: Sacred Heart. I thought they did a great job. And
- 1:53Speaker 5: you know, I think we played Sacred Heart three times
- 1:55Speaker 5: during my time here. That was as good as a
- 1:57Speaker 5: team I've seen come out of that locker room. You know,
- 1:59Speaker 5: they played it really hard nosed team, physical, play fast.
- 2:03Speaker 5: But on our end, we're feeling great. We're super happy.
- 2:06Speaker 5: It feels great to get a trophy under our belt.
- 2:07Speaker 5: We obviously still have big aspirations ahead, but we're gonna
- 2:10Speaker 5: savor this one for a little bit for sure.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Hudson, can you talk about Tyler tonight and well, this
- 2:15Speaker 1: whole weekend.
- 2:16Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think I can put into words
- 2:17Speaker 5: with you know what you just did for us this weekend.
- 2:20Speaker 5: He's been unbelievable for us all year and stuff. He's
- 2:22Speaker 5: been battling to go him off injury and play the
- 2:25Speaker 5: way since Christmas. It's been remarkable.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Anytime he goes into mat our team's.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Full of confidence in front of him, so so grateful
- 2:32Speaker 5: that he decided to come a Yukon and have his
- 2:34Speaker 5: back through anything. What you talked about this tournament yesterday
- 2:38Speaker 5: is kind of a dress rehearsal for the Hockey East
- 2:39Speaker 5: tournament and beyond. How do you feel about the intensity
- 2:42Speaker 5: and atmosphere and I kind of match that.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I thought it was outstanding. I thought, you know, when
- 2:49Speaker 1: you're playing in a game like this and you star,
- 2:51Speaker 1: we have a young team. You on any given night,
- 2:56Speaker 1: we can have five or six, you know, young freshman
- 3:01Speaker 1: in the lineup, and at times tonight it showed because
- 3:05Speaker 1: when you're playing in this type of atmosphere, it's you
- 3:09Speaker 1: kind of squeeze the stick.
- 3:10Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 3:10Speaker 1: It's only natural all players do it. I mean, how
- 3:13Speaker 1: he's been in the fire for a long time, so
- 3:17Speaker 1: he's gonna play a little more relaxed, But I thought
- 3:20Speaker 1: it was a really good growing learning process for our
- 3:25Speaker 1: younger guys when we have to enter the Hockey East
- 3:29Speaker 1: tournament and that's a single elimination tournament just like this
- 3:32Speaker 1: one was.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So I think it was gonna be a real positive force. Hudson,
- 3:37Speaker 2: Can you talk about a young guy like Philip getting
- 3:39Speaker 2: his first goal in situationally is? It's remarkable?
- 3:41Speaker 5: You know, I think you could have had a few
- 3:43Speaker 5: buy now and you see in practice all the time,
- 3:45Speaker 5: this kid's gonna be a special player here for a
- 3:47Speaker 5: long time. For him to finally break through into this
- 3:50Speaker 5: first one, we got big expectations for him down the stretch.
- 3:52Speaker 5: But I think that's a testament to our team and
- 3:54Speaker 5: our character. You know, I look it down and one
- 3:57Speaker 5: goal tonight comes from Phil Larks and Frays guys just
- 4:00Speaker 5: been battling all year long. Right, We're such a deep
- 4:02Speaker 5: roster where any line can kind of get going on
- 4:04Speaker 5: any night, So for them to kind of pull one
- 4:06Speaker 5: in for us and seal the deal, thriller, fulfill and testament.
- 4:09Speaker 2: To recruit Tida. What did you see tonight? What did
- 4:14Speaker 2: you feel you didn't did the pup look like a basketball.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I mean, were able to see it real clearly.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Good. Yeah, I mean sometimes box just hit you and
- 4:25Speaker 3: you feel good and confident.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Just lately, I felt good.
- 4:28Speaker 3: The team's been great in front of me. They've kept
- 4:31Speaker 3: Boks to the outside, kept Box in front of me,
- 4:32Speaker 3: fair of guys out from in front of that. So
- 4:35Speaker 3: but I know, not having many second or third opportunities,
- 4:37Speaker 3: it makes it a little easier for me, and I
- 4:38Speaker 3: think that's part of the reason why I've been having
- 4:40Speaker 3: such success lately and the team's been playing great.
- 4:43Speaker 2: You guys survived though on swat at the end, and
- 4:46Speaker 2: you only had one shot in the entire third period
- 4:49Speaker 2: either you talk about talk about what happened there and
- 4:51Speaker 2: and what happened to your offers in the third period.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I think it was a young team trying to hold
- 4:56Speaker 1: on and win a game when when we did have it,
- 4:58Speaker 1: we did have a couple of chances we miss You know,
- 5:00Speaker 1: we had I think the shard was right down Broadway
- 5:03Speaker 1: and he rifled it over the net. I think Taddle
- 5:06Speaker 1: had one. He came in on a really good break
- 5:08Speaker 1: in the third period, missing net short side high. So
- 5:12Speaker 1: you know, that's that's something where we got to get
- 5:15Speaker 1: those bucks on net and make a Booley, make a safe,
- 5:17Speaker 1: but you know they only had six shots on that,
- 5:20Speaker 1: so it was really kind of just where we were
- 5:25Speaker 1: battling to try to win the game and they're push
- 5:27Speaker 1: him to tie it. And that happens in championship games sometimes.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Who made that? Who made the ball? Why thought defend yourself?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Like looking at the clock at almost fought a couple
- 5:39Speaker 1: of minutes as the Saints got.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Coming out of their last day.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Uh, I heard them say there's one minute left.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And then we didn't get the puck out of the zone.
- 5:49Speaker 2: But the next time I looked up at the clock,
- 5:51Speaker 2: there was eight seconds of it when they whistled it.
- 5:54Speaker 1: So not really you're really watching the play and just
- 5:59Speaker 1: try kind of coach.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Not that they could hear me, but at least the
- 6:05Speaker 2: eases of mine, more so than watching the clock and
- 6:07Speaker 2: watching the player.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Who's going through your mind you those last seconds is
- 6:12Speaker 1: as they're just sending pops flying that you left and
- 6:14Speaker 1: right in the last twenty five thirty seconds.
- 6:17Speaker 3: The big thing I was focused on it was just
- 6:19Speaker 3: being aware of where guys were and trying to see
- 6:22Speaker 3: Punk's obviously six on five there's a lot of guys
- 6:24Speaker 3: at the net front and they're just trying to create chaos.
- 6:26Speaker 3: So my main focus was just to find the sightlines
- 6:30Speaker 3: and see the park all the way.
- 6:32Speaker 2: You took a pretty good shot there when So ran
- 6:33Speaker 2: the team the second period. Let's what your mom happens. Yeah,
- 6:37Speaker 2: I have a not much, just happy that it didn't
- 6:39Speaker 2: hurt and I always get it.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So I guess the time into can you remember what
- 6:44Speaker 1: two games stretched out where you saw the folks SO
- 6:47Speaker 1: planned to play so well.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure how maybe a while ago in
- 6:51Speaker 3: my career, but obviously being in elimination games and having
- 6:55Speaker 3: the success we had this week in the special and
- 6:57Speaker 3: haven't done that a long time.
- 6:58Speaker 4: So it was great those final seconds there was a
- 7:01Speaker 4: scramble and you finally were able to cover it. Was
- 7:03Speaker 4: were you able to find the pub pretty easily? Was
- 7:05Speaker 4: it kind of missing and then it popped up and
- 7:08Speaker 4: appeared to you?
- 7:09Speaker 2: It was a little chaotic.
- 7:10Speaker 3: It definitely lost it for a second with all those
- 7:12Speaker 3: guys in front of it. Luckily there were some good
- 7:14Speaker 3: tie ups in front of that, and put just bounced
- 7:16Speaker 3: up and I was able to cover it so we
- 7:17Speaker 3: could reset it.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Take on those last eight seconds, was it? It starts of
- 7:21Speaker 2: relief almost when the when the horn sounded, just excitement.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Honestly, I like to win that tournament, especially with the
- 7:28Speaker 3: guys that we haven't what we've been to this year.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I think it was really special and that was a
- 7:32Speaker 3: feeling I haven't thought a long time, So it was great.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It was for me.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Tyler.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Who do you think had to say of the game?
- 7:42Speaker 4: Was it one of years or was it Jakeson goal
- 7:43Speaker 4: at Neck?
- 7:45Speaker 2: I think that was a mess.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Thomasinho that had that was a goal on? Yeah, him
- 7:49Speaker 3: and Jacob Shard with eight seconds that those are some
- 7:53Speaker 3: ugly little loss and definitely helped me out.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It's only your second trophy year at Yukon. Just what
- 8:00Speaker 4: what is so meaningful that this one in particular being
- 8:03Speaker 4: Connecticut Ice.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna get repetitive Todi and Den Svetsy like, as
- 8:09Speaker 1: I've said a couple of times, they could have gone
- 8:11Speaker 1: at any school they wanted to last year, and when
- 8:14Speaker 1: everyone thought the sky was falling because people would transfer,
- 8:18Speaker 1: those two stuck with it and they're loyalty Yukon and
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'll forever be grateful to them and.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I love just seeing them getting rewarded really do.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Mike, You've spoken before about your opinion on the campus
- 8:32Speaker 6: site aspect of the tournament. With the last you're the
- 8:35Speaker 6: current deal coming up at Ingols Brink in twenty twenty six,
- 8:39Speaker 6: what are your thoughts on the possibility of the moving
- 8:42Speaker 6: to another location.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I know I'm a broken record. I'd say it all
- 8:46Speaker 2: the time and we just have to.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I just think it should be played at the Excel Center,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and I think that's the best venue for it. We've
- 8:52Speaker 1: tried Bridgeport that didn't work, and the atmosphere was great
- 8:57Speaker 1: at Quinnipiac and it was great here tonight.
- 9:00Speaker 2: But why, Like, we have.
- 9:02Speaker 1: A hockey starved state, they love the sport.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Why are we gonna limit the amount.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Of people Like I had to turn people away today
- 9:10Speaker 1: that we're asking me for tickets because it was sold out.
- 9:13Speaker 2: The Excel Center. If the Excel Center sells.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Out, we're gonna have one hack to return. I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 1: if we can sell that place out. But there's no
- 9:20Speaker 1: question in my mind we can get it to ten
- 9:22Speaker 1: to twelve thousand people for a final, and that's just
- 9:25Speaker 1: that's awesome for these kids to play in front of.
- 9:27Speaker 2: So I just think we're short changing ourselves by eliminate
- 9:30Speaker 2: it to campus arenas ours included. That's those are my thoughts.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I'm done saying that. You guys got it on record,
- 9:39Speaker 2: so just play that clip if we want to know
- 9:42Speaker 2: w
