- 0:18Speaker 3: It's a long worn this Monday here on Sports Radio
- 0:21Speaker 3: AM thirteen hundred zone. Yes, Sargon did not have a
- 0:23Speaker 3: press conference, aver he did have a zoom yesterday to
- 0:27Speaker 3: talk about the Long horns inclusion into the college football
- 0:30Speaker 3: Playoff as the number five c playing Clemson here a
- 0:33Speaker 3: week from Saturday, on the twenty first, at three o'clock
- 0:35Speaker 3: in the afternoon, he was asked about facing this offense
- 0:40Speaker 3: coordinated by Garrett Riley. Yeah, the younger brother Lincoln Riley.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Garrett Riley had been at TCU, and what are his
- 0:46Speaker 3: recollections are going up against the Garrett Riley offense.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Man, I love Coo, but he was a very unique, yeah,
- 0:52Speaker 4: very creative offensive mind spread you and then utilize the
- 1:00Speaker 4: game because you're spread out, and they do.
- 1:02Speaker 1: They do a really nice job in the run game,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know, with.
- 1:05Speaker 4: The with the with the counterplay, with the guard tackle counterplay.
- 1:08Speaker 4: They utilize the quarterback's legs in the run game, which
- 1:11Speaker 4: we all know. Kate is a is a very adequate runner,
- 1:14Speaker 4: and then they take advantage of the one on one opportunities,
- 1:17Speaker 4: getting you spread out on the field, and so, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 4: very creative. You know, what you see one week is
- 1:23Speaker 4: probably not what you're going to get the next week.
- 1:25Speaker 4: And so he's got a lot of offense that you
- 1:28Speaker 4: have to prepare for, and you know, in two weeks
- 1:30Speaker 4: to prepare, I'm sure we'll.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Get all of it.
- 1:32Speaker 4: And maybe we'll get some things that we saw a
- 1:35Speaker 4: couple of years ago and we played them now.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Sark chuckled when he talked about how his players responded
- 1:40Speaker 3: to the revelation on the big board yesterday and the
- 1:44Speaker 3: players lounge there over at Moncrief there at dk R
- 1:48Speaker 3: Texas Memorial Stadium when they saw Texas come up as
- 1:52Speaker 3: the number five seed to play Clemson the twelve seed,
- 1:55Speaker 3: and he chuckled down to the guys were talking about
- 1:57Speaker 3: being the Makuba hole because remember Andrew Cuba out of
- 2:00Speaker 3: LBJ High here in Austin, actually began his collegiate URK
- 2:04Speaker 3: Clemson three seasons over there before transferring in. So he
- 2:07Speaker 3: was asked about that and about Andrew mccooba's impact this
- 2:10Speaker 3: season on this team.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so Andrew mccooba is a guy that we are
- 2:17Speaker 4: so glad and happy he decided to come home. He's
- 2:21Speaker 4: a veteran player, obviously, and I learned very quickly he's
- 2:25Speaker 4: an excellent practice player. He's got tremendous practice habits, the
- 2:30Speaker 4: speed in which he practices, the tempo, the physicality, but
- 2:35Speaker 4: yet having the understanding of not going to the ground
- 2:38Speaker 4: when we're not in tackle periods, but yet still putting
- 2:41Speaker 4: himself in really good positions striking people. He's a really
- 2:44Speaker 4: good communicator, and then he plays with confidence back there
- 2:47Speaker 4: and I think he Michael taff jahday.
- 2:49Speaker 1: They all feed off of one another.
- 2:52Speaker 4: But you see his experience even in some of the
- 2:55Speaker 4: biggest moments that we're playing in right now. You know,
- 2:57Speaker 4: he's making plays at critical juncture and critical moments in
- 3:00Speaker 4: these games. So doing a great addition to our team,
- 3:03Speaker 4: not only on the field, but in that locker room,
- 3:05Speaker 4: you know, with with his veteran presence.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And one other question during this port, and I want
- 3:09Speaker 3: to have some more from sard next hour, asked about
- 3:12Speaker 3: you know, in the recent signing period, because remember remember
- 3:19Speaker 3: it's important to point is that those reporters who are on.
- 3:25Speaker 1: The web zooms.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Are of that group, and there's television reporters, fe radio reporters,
- 3:35Speaker 3: newspaper writers, and then there's.
- 3:37Speaker 1: The fan site reporters.
- 3:39Speaker 3: A lot of what the fan site reporters' responsibilities are
- 3:43Speaker 3: is to keep people updated on the recruiting that goes on.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And after all, recruiting is the like blood of a
- 3:51Speaker 3: successful collegiate football program. But they are going to be
- 3:56Speaker 3: more inclined to ask questions about recruiting and signings and
- 4:03Speaker 3: things like that, even at this time of year when
- 4:07Speaker 3: there's a national playoff game coming up, then say.
- 4:13Speaker 1: A regular writer whatever.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And to be fair, it certainly makes sense because the
- 4:17Speaker 3: early national signing Day was last Wednesday, and so now
- 4:23Speaker 3: the long ones have that signing class and there's plenty
- 4:26Speaker 3: of big names on that list among those. He was
- 4:29Speaker 3: asked about this young man in specific, the young man
- 4:33Speaker 3: Justice Terry, who you know, announced last week and it
- 4:37Speaker 3: looked like it was going to be with Georgia and
- 4:40Speaker 3: he winds up going with Texas, and he was asked
- 4:43Speaker 3: about the significance of being able to sign Justice Terry.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Justice Terry is a great signee for us, you know, obviously,
- 4:50Speaker 4: as we and y'all are now seeing the impact that
- 4:54Speaker 4: defensive linemen have in the Southeastern Conference is critical.
- 4:57Speaker 1: You know, I talk about big humans.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Most people always assume I'm talking about offensive lineman, but
- 5:02Speaker 4: I'm talking about defensive linemen as well.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I thought we did.
- 5:05Speaker 4: We sign a really nice defensive line class with he Sharma,
- 5:10Speaker 4: Charles and then obviously our edge players coming in. So
- 5:14Speaker 4: this is you know, it was. It was a nice
- 5:16Speaker 4: ending to the early signing period for us. I think,
- 5:20Speaker 4: you know, made us feel really good about this is
- 5:22Speaker 4: a balance class, but yet we address some real needs
- 5:25Speaker 4: and and obviously in our conference, it starts up front,
- 5:29Speaker 4: most notably the defensive front.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Uh, that Justice Terry thing kind of turned a lot
- 5:35Speaker 3: of people's uh, you know, on their ear, so to speak,
- 5:40Speaker 3: because the way it ultimately uh wound up, and and
- 5:46Speaker 3: how big it was, because all signs seemed seemed pointing
- 5:53Speaker 3: and indicating toward Terry signing with Georgia, and he winds
- 5:56Speaker 3: up with Texas and the Grand Irony on the weekend
- 5:58Speaker 3: the Texas played Georgia and in the SEC Championship.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and don't overlook what happened with Michael Psousi, the
- 6:02Speaker 2: offensive lineman who ended up signing with Oklahoma. I think
- 6:05Speaker 2: Texas was going to put a lot into Passussie's bag,
- 6:10Speaker 2: but he wanted to say to Oklahoma. So that opened
- 6:12Speaker 2: up Texas to you know, push after Michael Terry a
- 6:15Speaker 2: little bit more and for Justice Terry because you know,
- 6:18Speaker 2: nil is a huge part of where a kid ends
- 6:20Speaker 2: up playing college football. We know that, and you know,
- 6:23Speaker 2: it seems like if Texas had beaten Georgia Ler in
- 6:26Speaker 2: the year, they thought Terry would have committed earlier. But
- 6:29Speaker 2: credit to the staff and Kenny Baker, correct because you know,
- 6:32Speaker 2: when you come over from the NFL. Obviously he was
- 6:34Speaker 2: at Western Kentucky before going to Miami Dolphins. He comes
- 6:37Speaker 2: to Texas, you always wonder, Okay, how will an NFL
- 6:40Speaker 2: coach adapt to managing the egos of eighteen year old
- 6:43Speaker 2: kids who needs you know, they need to be recruited
- 6:46Speaker 2: and this and that. But he's put together an incredible
- 6:50Speaker 2: defensive line class and capping it off with a huge
- 6:53Speaker 2: five star edition of Justice Terry and solidifying Texas having
- 6:58Speaker 2: a number one recruiting class for two thousand five.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Absolutely, it was a big, big ad to that signing class.
- 7:04Speaker 3: The fact that came a couple of days after the
- 7:06Speaker 3: signing day added to the suspense, but a big get
- 7:09Speaker 3: for Texas, no doubt. All Right, coming up, we'll wrap
- 7:12Speaker 3: up our number two of the program here on Sports
- 7:14Speaker 3: Radio AM thirteen under the Zone in the irradio app
