- 0:04Speaker 1: It's a podcast called twenty five.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Wist fucking fun and they whist.
- 0:09Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's too bad, but what did you expect.
- 0:13Speaker 4: It's a podcast called twenty five wist.
- 0:18Speaker 3: He welcome to the show.
- 0:19Speaker 5: Hit it?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Sorry, Kevin game, Sorry keV.
- 0:24Speaker 6: Yeah, thanks guys. It was a It was a brutal
- 0:27Speaker 6: one to watch. And I'm a fan. I can't even
- 0:30Speaker 6: matter not being a fan of the teams.
- 0:31Speaker 3: That's a brutal one to watch.
- 0:32Speaker 2: That was hard.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Well, we had money on it too. We had our
- 0:35Speaker 3: team league in which, by the way, your bill comes
- 0:37Speaker 3: due maybe today.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Oh oh yeah, yeah, he's gonna send a text like
- 0:41Speaker 2: how's that?
- 0:41Speaker 7: Okay?
- 0:41Speaker 6: We go Venmo or just yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Can I write a check?
- 0:45Speaker 7: No?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 0:46Speaker 6: Can I Can I pay in like quarterly?
- 0:48Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 0:49Speaker 2: No installments.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I missed every bet last night too, same like I
- 0:54Speaker 3: bet fifty hundred bucks on the Patriots to cover plus
- 0:56Speaker 3: four and a half, and then I jumped back in
- 0:58Speaker 3: for another five hundred when it was plus five and
- 1:00Speaker 3: a half when they and then it was just like
- 1:02Speaker 3: I'm stopping.
- 1:02Speaker 2: What was the most points?
- 1:04Speaker 3: You got five and a half?
- 1:05Speaker 2: I got eight? No, I stopped and I thought eight
- 1:07Speaker 2: would cover Itah.
- 1:08Speaker 6: Yeah, they showed no life. I mean, I guess a
- 1:09Speaker 6: little bit of life and then third early fourth, but
- 1:12Speaker 6: that was it.
- 1:15Speaker 3: They really want that good of a team, right, the Patriots.
- 1:18Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:18Speaker 2: No, man, that what I kept thinking. And I'm sorry, Kevin,
- 1:21Speaker 2: You're not gonn want to hear this easy to say
- 1:22Speaker 2: this now, but I know I just kept thinking, like, wow,
- 1:24Speaker 2: should have been the Broncos better defense. It's just just
- 1:29Speaker 2: what I was thinking.
- 1:29Speaker 6: And our defense is really good. I know, our offense
- 1:32Speaker 6: is really bad.
- 1:33Speaker 3: It sucks. I'm sorry.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Yeah, that's all right. I mean, I'm happy we were
- 1:37Speaker 6: there for sure. Obviously we did not expect that at all,
- 1:40Speaker 6: so expectations were pretty, i don't know, not necessarily low
- 1:44Speaker 6: coming in, but like if we went great. The only
- 1:46Speaker 6: thing that the part that makes me sad and that
- 1:48Speaker 6: sucks is like there was no fight, like it's it's
- 1:51Speaker 6: to lose is one thing, but to like I think
- 1:53Speaker 6: I yelled one time outside of like yelling bad things,
- 1:56Speaker 6: but one good thing, and that was it.
- 1:58Speaker 3: So that when they were not two scores before they
- 2:01Speaker 3: did that pick, I thought, okay, we might can make
- 2:02Speaker 3: this into something, yes, And mostly I thought maybe we
- 2:04Speaker 3: in cover.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah, cover was what I was rooting for something.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Dude, I need a break, So I'm glad it's over.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but you know what, March Maddis is just
- 2:13Speaker 2: around the corner.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe it'd be better for me there. But I
- 2:18Speaker 3: had a bad twenty twenty five slash early twenty twenty
- 2:21Speaker 3: six for sure. It was one of my worst ever.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty bad one for the books.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Kevin.
- 2:26Speaker 2: At what point during the game did you think, like
- 2:28Speaker 2: is done?
- 2:29Speaker 6: Uh when they scored the touchdown and he was wide open.
- 2:32Speaker 6: I was after the fumble, I believe, and I was like,
- 2:34Speaker 6: I don't know, you've been.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Thinking the first half where they couldn't score it all,
- 2:37Speaker 2: Like I couldn't. They couldn't even get first downs. I
- 2:38Speaker 2: think they got two.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Maybe they kind of did this all playoffs, so where
- 2:41Speaker 6: it's like they didn't look great on offense, and then
- 2:43Speaker 6: the second half they looked a lot better. So I
- 2:45Speaker 6: was like, this is gonna take some time. Drake May
- 2:47Speaker 6: looks nervous. Josh McDaniels, I don't know what the heck
- 2:49Speaker 6: that game plan was, but it was just very basic
- 2:52Speaker 6: and boring. They didn't change anything up, So I was like, okay,
- 2:54Speaker 6: I'm just gonna give it till the second half and
- 2:56Speaker 6: as long as there's somewhat in it. They were down
- 2:58Speaker 6: nine to nothing, I felt good. I was like, I
- 3:00Speaker 6: can't believe we're only down nine. That game felt like
- 3:02Speaker 6: it was fifty to nothing.
- 3:03Speaker 3: At halftime. I still felt like he had a shot
- 3:05Speaker 3: because you're only down nine and a half exactly. So yeah,
- 3:08Speaker 3: the bad game.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Though.
- 3:09Speaker 3: My wife was like this game sucks.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Yeah, like I'm out.
- 3:11Speaker 5: She only want to.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Watch half time show anyway.
- 3:13Speaker 2: She didn't watch the second half.
- 3:15Speaker 3: No, she went and watched Tell Me Lies or something
- 3:18Speaker 3: on Netflix. D scare it that much anyway, but if
- 3:21Speaker 3: it had been close, she would have stayed. She was like, terrible,
- 3:23Speaker 3: I'm out.
- 3:24Speaker 2: You know, you know you're talking about UFC, like you
- 3:26Speaker 2: never watch UFC, but then you like the one you
- 3:28Speaker 2: watch is too bad as a bad fight two girls.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So my wife never watches full games, and she was
- 3:33Speaker 2: just like, I'm gonna watch this full game, guys. I'm
- 3:35Speaker 2: just like, why is this the game?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Did she stay with it?
- 3:38Speaker 2: She did the game in her game and she was
- 3:39Speaker 2: like that's pretty bad.
- 3:40Speaker 6: And there was no like, I mean, Kenneth Walker had
- 3:42Speaker 6: some good players. But outside of that, both sides it
- 3:44Speaker 6: was like there's no like big not fighting plays nothing.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I was rooting for the kicker to win MVP.
- 3:49Speaker 6: Yeah that would have been cool.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I mean he was a punter.
- 3:51Speaker 6: The Dixon had a great game too.
- 3:53Speaker 2: That punter was on.
- 3:54Speaker 3: But I think the kicker he kicked four or five
- 3:56Speaker 3: field goals. I forget what it ended at. It was
- 3:58Speaker 3: most in fild goal and cool history. Yeah, like, if
- 4:02Speaker 3: there ever was a kicker to win the MVP, he
- 4:05Speaker 3: scored fifteen points, he should have won MVP.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Do you guys ever vote for that stuff?
- 4:10Speaker 4: Like?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Have you ever voted for MVP?
- 4:12Speaker 6: What do you mean where online?
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah? They tell you during the game, like to vote
- 4:15Speaker 2: for the MVP.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Get Oh really yeah? Oh I didn't know. The other thing.
- 4:18Speaker 3: The Seahawks were a four and a half point favorite,
- 4:20Speaker 3: and they broke a streak of underdogs winning three straight
- 4:23Speaker 3: Super Bowls.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Huh.
- 4:26Speaker 3: The Patriots wearing white jerseys and white pants, a combination
- 4:29Speaker 3: they had never worn the Super Bowl.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Yeah that stuff is. They look nice.
- 4:35Speaker 3: The Seahawks were winning nine zero at halftime, which means
- 4:38Speaker 3: the teams now zero to fifteen in Super Bowl history.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Whin scoreless at the half. The Seahawks only trailed for
- 4:44Speaker 3: one minute and thirty five seconds the entire postseason. That's
- 4:48Speaker 3: the fifth least amount of anytime trailing. But they only
- 4:52Speaker 3: trailed for barely over ninety seconds the whole Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 6: I mean, they're obviously the much better team, but I
- 4:57Speaker 6: think just in general in the NFL, they were probably
- 5:00Speaker 6: the best team at least second half of the season.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Listen to this. The Seahawks are the first Super Bowl
- 5:06Speaker 3: champion to go their entire postseason without committing a turnover.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Oh wow, that's what Sam Donald.
- 5:12Speaker 3: The Seahawks won eleven to zero across the entire season
- 5:15Speaker 3: when scoring first. Sam Donald became the first quarterback to
- 5:19Speaker 3: win a Super Bowl after playing for at least five
- 5:21Speaker 3: different teams.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Wow.
- 5:22Speaker 3: He was with Minnesota last year, but again, obviously they
- 5:26Speaker 3: passed on bringing it back. I did like that story.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I think I said that if the Patriots didn't win,
- 5:30Speaker 3: my favorite story to root for was Us and Money.
- 5:34Speaker 3: My second favorite story was Sam Donald.
- 5:38Speaker 2: It's pretty cool. Good for him, although he wasn't very
- 5:42Speaker 2: excited with his performance. I mean, he was kind of
- 5:43Speaker 2: just like.
- 5:44Speaker 3: He missed a few throws, But there was a point
- 5:47Speaker 3: where it was just up to him not to lose it.
- 5:49Speaker 3: It wasn't up to him to win it.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think he knew that and they won it,
- 5:54Speaker 6: and I'm glad it wasn't there. I can tell you that.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Hey, I thought it was gonna be a blowout for
- 5:58Speaker 2: I really did. Like for. I was like, ma, this
- 6:00Speaker 2: is gonna be Crazy's gonna be the first blowout in
- 6:02Speaker 2: Super Bowl history.
- 6:04Speaker 3: You mean as the game started and Seattle just had
- 6:06Speaker 3: controlling Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 6: I remember the Seattle Denver one ten years ago. It
- 6:09Speaker 6: was forty three to eight. First play was the over
- 6:13Speaker 6: at Peyton's head, just letting you down.
- 6:17Speaker 2: With Kevin's face, the paint Kevin's going through right now.
- 6:19Speaker 2: It feels like I'm talking to a dead man.
- 6:21Speaker 3: A lot of football fans were caught in the middle
- 6:23Speaker 3: and watched the Super Bowl without rooting for either team.
- 6:26Speaker 3: If you were literally in physically halfway between Seattle and Foxboro, Massachusetts,
- 6:31Speaker 3: you'd be in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
- 6:32Speaker 6: Oh well, shout out Minnesota.
- 6:34Speaker 3: I didn't have a team. I just had a team
- 6:36Speaker 3: that I bet on. But I again, I mean I
- 6:40Speaker 3: lost enough to suck, but it was cool. I like
- 6:44Speaker 3: Sam Donald winning yeah, I mean sure. I did see
- 6:49Speaker 3: the list of all the quarterbacks that early on in
- 6:51Speaker 3: their career went to the Super Bowl and never made
- 6:53Speaker 3: it back. It's a bad list. Oh wow, maybe think
- 6:56Speaker 3: about you guys.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You think Drake May future Marina.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Marina was one.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 3: He was also the youngest quarterback ever to go to
- 7:04Speaker 3: a Super Bowl, which they showed a couple times. Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and Drake May was second.
- 7:07Speaker 6: I was surprised to see that Sam Darnold was the
- 7:09Speaker 6: first USC quarterback to start a Super Bowl.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I bet you're right.
- 7:14Speaker 6: I didn't see they said at the very beginning of
- 7:16Speaker 6: the game, and I was like, really, like USC quarterbacks,
- 7:19Speaker 6: Carson Palmer, Matt Lioner, Mark Sanchez, there're the ones I
- 7:23Speaker 6: can think of.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Matt Castle, Matt Castle.
- 7:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm trying to think of like back in the
- 7:28Speaker 6: day even but no.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Caleb Williams.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Yeah, oh that's true too.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Obviously he hasn't made a Super Bowl, but that's true.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, dude, sorry about that.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Yeah, all good. I hope, uh, I don't know. I
- 7:40Speaker 6: hope we get some more O line help for sure.
- 7:42Speaker 6: And I also hope Drake I hope this doesn't like
- 7:45Speaker 6: stick with him. For a while.
- 7:46Speaker 3: You know what sucked was will Well, Yeah, it was bad,
- 7:50Speaker 3: and they were just harping on it and showing close
- 7:53Speaker 3: ups of him getting dominant on the offensive line.
- 7:55Speaker 6: I know, And I've seen multiple today where it's like
- 7:57Speaker 6: fourteen pressures allowed, the most in Super Bowl history.
- 7:59Speaker 3: I'm like, oh God, so was he not healthy or
- 8:02Speaker 3: is he just not good yet? He?
- 8:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean he had his upiso and downs this year.
- 8:06Speaker 6: Like obviously I watched every game, and it's not like
- 8:08Speaker 6: our old line was anything great all year. They just
- 8:11Speaker 6: had ways of kind of getting around it, I guess,
- 8:13Speaker 6: and they got exposed. I mean four guys collins Worth
- 8:16Speaker 6: to talking about it, but four guys got to him
- 8:18Speaker 6: with ease. It was tough.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Man.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Were you hoping Drake would run the ball a little more?
- 8:22Speaker 6: Yeah, we were saying the whole time. I was like,
- 8:24Speaker 6: get him out of the pocket or some roll him out,
- 8:26Speaker 6: because he did not look comfortable as soon as they
- 8:28Speaker 6: got to him a little bit. He was all over
- 8:30Speaker 6: the place, even when he had time.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Cardi B had a one point five million dollars Super
- 8:34Speaker 3: Bowl weekend. So and also they broke up Cardi B
- 8:36Speaker 3: in what do you mean she spent that much money. Yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 3: they did, dude. Apparently he was sneaking in an next
- 8:41Speaker 3: girlfriend into their hotel room.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Oh it's so fun.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Well, he was dealing with the grief.
- 8:46Speaker 5: You know.
- 8:48Speaker 3: They unfollowed each other on socials too. Just had a baby,
- 8:52Speaker 3: but he had four babies last year with forty women.
- 8:54Speaker 2: We're talking like we know or care?
- 8:56Speaker 6: Did you see Craft up there with her on the
- 8:57Speaker 6: stage of the video of that? Like Saturday or Friday night?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Was Cardi b secure to VP Suite to watch the
- 9:02Speaker 3: Fon Diggs play for the New England Patriots of Super
- 9:03Speaker 3: Bowl sixty. She tried to rent two suites for her
- 9:06Speaker 3: one hundred guests. Unfortunately, she had to split the group
- 9:09Speaker 3: half set in the stands while forty get the box.
- 9:13Speaker 3: So the breakdown of her one point five million dollar weekend.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Seven hundred and twenty five thousand dollars for tickets for
- 9:19Speaker 3: one hundred friends and family, wow, two hundred and fifty
- 9:22Speaker 3: thousand dollars, four private jets to San Francisco for her guests.
- 9:27Speaker 3: At that point, I'm like, I'll get joked up. You
- 9:28Speaker 3: get yourself out there.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I gotta taking one plane with me in it.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I'm getting your ticket, one.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Hundred and twenty five thousand dollars, a private suite for
- 9:37Speaker 3: forty at the Super Bowl, two hundred and twenty thousand
- 9:41Speaker 3: dollars and Dom and Hennessy and one hundred and thirty
- 9:45Speaker 3: three thousand dollars hotel suite and party room. That's from
- 9:47Speaker 3: the Sun with Oh.
- 9:48Speaker 2: They had a party room, but that's Almo.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I guess yeah, that's almost the cheapest thing on the
- 9:54Speaker 3: List's insane.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I did spot her in the Bad Money concert. She
- 9:58Speaker 2: was in there, was out there right with Pedro Pascal
- 10:01Speaker 2: and Jessica Alba.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Jessica was the only one I saw.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I saw Alex Alexi. What's your name, Mike, Alex Earl, Yeah, Alex,
- 10:12Speaker 3: thank you.
- 10:12Speaker 6: With Tom Brady.
- 10:13Speaker 3: No, no, she was out there dancing, oh the same.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I did see her with Tom Brady dancing at whatever.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Tom Brady's just turning into a cheese ball, dude. Yeah,
- 10:23Speaker 3: he's just turning into a cheese There's a reason Michael
- 10:24Speaker 3: Jordan is still cool to us because he's not out
- 10:26Speaker 3: on social media all the time with influencers and.
- 10:29Speaker 6: Hey, I'm with you. I agree. I the less I
- 10:31Speaker 6: see him now, the happier I am.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Because he was like the coolest, because we didn't because
- 10:35Speaker 3: nothing could take him down because he was We only
- 10:37Speaker 3: knew him as a winner. Now he's everywhere.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I know, we walked by one of his card stores.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Multiple losses for the Patriots this weekend.
- 10:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean yeah, overall with the whole Hall of
- 10:50Speaker 6: Fame and then Brady saying that and all that, Brady
- 10:52Speaker 6: being yeah, I didn't really find that a big deal though.
- 10:56Speaker 6: Oh no, sorry, you're talking about him saying like, oh,
- 10:57Speaker 6: I don't have a dog in the fight or no.
- 10:58Speaker 3: No, I think the big losses him with dancing at
- 11:00Speaker 3: a club with Alex Oh yeah, just being all the parties, Like,
- 11:04Speaker 3: I get it, but man, the reputation's being tarnished. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 3: I didn't care about the other stuff. I understand why
- 11:11Speaker 3: he said that he owns it was part under the
- 11:14Speaker 3: Raiders and they they're hiring the offensive coordinator from Seattle. Yeah,
- 11:18Speaker 3: and then the Patriots. Obviously. I still think he should
- 11:20Speaker 3: have said the Patriots.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Oh, he won Super Bowls with the Patriots, that's his team.
- 11:23Speaker 5: I know.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I think if Joe Montana said, well, no, because he
- 11:26Speaker 2: was only well he was a chief, I guess for
- 11:27Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 11:27Speaker 3: For a second, just for a little just for a second.
- 11:30Speaker 3: He looks he's he is old, but he's looking small
- 11:32Speaker 3: and old.
- 11:33Speaker 2: That's why kids said, they're like, that's Joe Montana.
- 11:35Speaker 3: My wife said, he's a little guy. Huh, I said, no,
- 11:37Speaker 3: he's just old now it used to be tall. I
- 11:39Speaker 3: guess we start hunching over when we get older.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they say that our ears and our noses don't
- 11:45Speaker 2: stop growing. Then you hunch over.
- 11:48Speaker 5: A terrible game. Hey, what happened? Because I saw that
- 11:52Speaker 5: the falcons?
- 11:54Speaker 3: Who is it Pierce?
- 11:55Speaker 6: Yeah, James Pearce.
- 11:56Speaker 5: So what he was being chased or he was chasing somebody.
- 11:59Speaker 6: In a car? Yeah, he was his ex girlfriend w
- 12:02Speaker 6: NBA player Ricky Jackson. Yeah, big on the WNBA scene
- 12:07Speaker 6: except for Kate Clark. And yeah, he was chasing her.
- 12:11Speaker 6: He was stalking her and then he rammed his I
- 12:14Speaker 6: think it was like a Ferrari or something or Lamborghini
- 12:16Speaker 6: into her car multiple times so she couldn't go to
- 12:19Speaker 6: the police station. And then police ended up showing up,
- 12:21Speaker 6: and then he ran from the cops and then hit
- 12:23Speaker 6: a cop with his car and then.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Physically the human cop.
- 12:27Speaker 6: Yeah, he hit like his knee it said, yeah, so,
- 12:30Speaker 6: and then he got arrested. There's a video of him
- 12:32Speaker 6: fighting like seven cops and it's just like no one.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Everyone's like, no one's got a ten and a half sacks. Yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 6: not good.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Yeah he's out next year.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Yeah, not good. And he dropped in the draft because
- 12:45Speaker 6: of character stuff.
- 12:46Speaker 3: You played Tennessee, Yeah, uh yeah, he's done. And the
- 12:52Speaker 3: Falcons were pretty good. Yeah, they got pretty good last year.
- 12:56Speaker 6: They had him and the Georgia d Lineman. Both of
- 12:58Speaker 6: them did really good rookie years. And that's not not good. Man.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Eddie's kids had basketball practice on Super Bowl Sunday.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Practice leave that craw We.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Were talking about this in San Francsco. Did they go?
- 13:10Speaker 2: No?
- 13:11Speaker 5: No.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Dad had to pull the car and be like, they're
- 13:13Speaker 2: not going.
- 13:13Speaker 6: What time was it at?
- 13:14Speaker 2: It was from four to five thirty? Oh, shut the
- 13:17Speaker 2: game starts at five thirty, like and this on the
- 13:19Speaker 2: other side of town. We'd missed the first quarter. Like
- 13:21Speaker 2: it's the dumbest thing ever and it's basketball, and you know,
- 13:24Speaker 2: like it's sixth grade basketball. And so I said, no,
- 13:27Speaker 2: you're not going to practice.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Could you have let him go like four to five
- 13:31Speaker 5: and then get back and.
- 13:31Speaker 2: To pool them out early. That's so obvious.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Are you cleared that they would have practice leading right
- 13:35Speaker 5: up to game time.
- 13:36Speaker 3: With the Super Bowl?
- 13:36Speaker 6: Like maybe, like I don't know, one o'clock, let church happen.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and one of my boys did, he had an
- 13:42Speaker 2: early one like noon did two or something?
- 13:44Speaker 6: Perfect?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Did you great?
- 13:45Speaker 3: Would your kid upset that in miss practice?
- 13:46Speaker 1: Nah?
- 13:47Speaker 2: No, I didn't care. He didn't care. But I just
- 13:49Speaker 2: thought that was like, just what do you call it?
- 13:53Speaker 2: Tone deaf? You know, it's other circumstances, but to me,
- 13:59Speaker 2: that's own death.
- 14:00Speaker 3: When you went to San Francisco. We're gonna play some
- 14:02Speaker 3: of these interviews we have on bo Jackson coming up
- 14:05Speaker 3: in a second. But you guys got put together in
- 14:08Speaker 3: the same room. Get two beads in the room, Kevin, Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 3: so how to go?
- 14:13Speaker 6: It was good overall?
- 14:14Speaker 2: What do you I mean?
- 14:15Speaker 6: The second night was a little rough for for me personally?
- 14:19Speaker 6: Why because I didn't know Eddie was such a big snorer.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Actually I'm a snorer.
- 14:24Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 6: Did you notice the second night I slept with like
- 14:27Speaker 6: white noise on my phone.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I noticed you had the white noise. He busts out
- 14:32Speaker 2: this little all night and I'm like what is that,
- 14:35Speaker 2: because what's the difference we're doing.
- 14:39Speaker 3: It's relaxing at least that's constant. It's a line you're snoring,
- 14:45Speaker 3: is like, do you.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Know I snored?
- 14:48Speaker 3: Yes?
- 14:48Speaker 2: Of course. No one has ever told me that I'm
- 14:52Speaker 2: a snore.
- 14:52Speaker 6: Right, No one know what.
- 14:55Speaker 2: My wife did tell me though, She was like, hey,
- 14:57Speaker 2: have you did Kevin? Like you tell Kevin and that
- 15:00Speaker 2: you fart all the time in your sleep, and like,
- 15:02Speaker 2: I don't fart all the time?
- 15:03Speaker 6: Yeah, you do that too, You definitely do that. Honestly,
- 15:07Speaker 6: I thought it was just because the first spot we
- 15:09Speaker 6: ate the first night wasn't the best food and it
- 15:11Speaker 6: didn't make my stomach feel great either.
- 15:13Speaker 2: So I was like, I'll give him this pass, but
- 15:15Speaker 2: is that farting all night?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Uh?
- 15:17Speaker 6: There's at least three or four dude.
- 15:18Speaker 2: My wife said, like you fart all the time. I'm like, no,
- 15:20Speaker 2: I don't, like you need to apologize in advance to Kevin.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Because you had air coming out of every hole.
- 15:27Speaker 2: You know what though? The farting if it was that
- 15:30Speaker 2: first night, dude, I was coming off of fast and
- 15:32Speaker 2: then we went the only food we can find was
- 15:34Speaker 2: pizza and wing.
- 15:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and it wasn't good, So I think.
- 15:36Speaker 2: That's kind of what did that. But I apologize Kevin.
- 15:39Speaker 2: My wife told me to apologize to you, oh for farting.
- 15:43Speaker 2: What about the snoring, Well, now, I guess I had
- 15:46Speaker 2: no idea about the snoring, so I apologize for that too.
- 15:48Speaker 6: My brother and dad are bad snores, too, so I
- 15:51Speaker 6: guess I'm kind of used to it. But yeah, I was.
- 15:53Speaker 6: You woke me up, I think three times a second night.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Let me tell you something Kevin does too.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Man.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He does like a little one night stand action in
- 15:59Speaker 2: the morning where I wake up and he's just gone
- 16:02Speaker 2: for like hours. Like every morning I wake up and
- 16:05Speaker 2: be like Kevin to sleep, Kevin, Kevin not there.
- 16:11Speaker 6: It's because I'm downstairs working grabbing coffee and I don't
- 16:15Speaker 6: want to be loud while working. Two hours dude.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I would text the room. I'd be like, hey,
- 16:21Speaker 3: what are you guys doing? It is like Kevin's still working.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he's working all night.
- 16:24Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a lot.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I had to tell Kevin one of the nights to
- 16:27Speaker 2: be like, hey, dude, we're all going to have dinner,
- 16:28Speaker 2: Like let's take a break at six thirty.
- 16:30Speaker 6: So we got working. Yeah, he's like because he got
- 16:32Speaker 6: two shows to do over. Yeah, there was definitely a
- 16:34Speaker 6: difference Missy Mike.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Why Mike's all was working well?
- 16:38Speaker 6: No, like usually handles like a lot of whistle stuff
- 16:40Speaker 6: and I can focus on the lost day. But then
- 16:41Speaker 6: I did both of them. But yeah, all good. The
- 16:45Speaker 6: dinner was good second night.
- 16:46Speaker 2: And then me, Kevin and Brandon would have breakfast in
- 16:48Speaker 2: the morning. It was kind of it was like dad hour,
- 16:51Speaker 2: you know, where we would just talk about parenting and
- 16:54Speaker 2: they're eating our eggs and everything. Every single day. It
- 16:57Speaker 2: was kind of fun, like we would just have a
- 16:58Speaker 2: little dad like pow, wow, what was I You were
- 17:01Speaker 2: at another hotel?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Oh, got it, got it? Yeah, I was taking another hotel.
- 17:05Speaker 6: I learned a lot about Brandon this weekend too.
- 17:07Speaker 5: You always learn it ans like we don't know Brandon,
- 17:10Speaker 5: so yeah, Brandon, he just.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Keeps dropping stuff like nonchalant. I'll have this YouTube channel
- 17:15Speaker 6: thing too, like what like little kids stuff. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:17Speaker 6: Brandon crushes it music by the way, kids, that's a
- 17:22Speaker 6: good point.
- 17:24Speaker 3: We're going to go over to our conversation now with
- 17:26Speaker 3: bo Jackson, one of the greatest athletes of all time.
- 17:28Speaker 3: But when the Heisman in eighty five when he played
- 17:30Speaker 3: at Auburn NFL Pro Bowl in ninety MLB All Star Game,
- 17:34Speaker 3: he won MVP and eighty nine. Here he is Bo Jackson.
- 17:37Speaker 5: All right here with Bo Jackson.
- 17:39Speaker 3: When you were at Auburn, timing was different than But
- 17:42Speaker 3: what do you think you ran the forty?
- 17:44Speaker 7: I ran the forty electronically four point one second, four
- 17:49Speaker 7: point four point one three seconds.
- 17:53Speaker 5: And how hi?
- 17:55Speaker 3: No way out, yes way, But I'm just saying that's unbelievable.
- 18:00Speaker 7: I was on my way to track practice, and back
- 18:03Speaker 7: then we didn't have these combines like they got down
- 18:05Speaker 7: that looked like this room that was just somebody from
- 18:09Speaker 7: the NFL, somebody from I guess Combine office. And all
- 18:13Speaker 7: the players came from Tuscaloosha, North Alabama, South Alabama, Georgia
- 18:18Speaker 7: came into Auburn run the forty, then they left. I
- 18:23Speaker 7: was on my way to track practice to chase the
- 18:27Speaker 7: nineteen seventy six Olympic gold medals in one hundred yard dash.
- 18:31Speaker 7: Who was an Auburn graandit Harvey Glands. My track coach
- 18:35Speaker 7: told me both, if you ever catch or beat Harvey
- 18:39Speaker 7: in a race in track practice, you don't have to practice.
- 18:43Speaker 7: I never caught him, and he was thirteen fourteen years
- 18:48Speaker 7: older than me. He was in his mid thirties and
- 18:51Speaker 7: I was twenty one. And I never caught him because
- 18:54Speaker 7: he was like a McLaren sports car and I was
- 18:58Speaker 7: an eighteen wheeler and I couldn't catch you. So I
- 19:02Speaker 7: had to run the forty. The first time I ran
- 19:05Speaker 7: the forty, I ran four to two six. But I
- 19:08Speaker 7: let up there because from the finish line to the
- 19:13Speaker 7: back of the dome and our place was about ten
- 19:16Speaker 7: fifteen yards and I couldn't stop any time. So let's
- 19:19Speaker 7: say at thirty five yards, I just eased up and
- 19:21Speaker 7: cruised through at four two six, and everybody's like, but
- 19:24Speaker 7: he eased up, he didn't run through. And this was
- 19:27Speaker 7: a time of stopwatches, but the electronic time where you
- 19:30Speaker 7: have to put your hand on the tape and come
- 19:33Speaker 7: off and break the laser was four two six. Coach
- 19:36Speaker 7: comes to get on me. Got it? Please run the forty,
- 19:40Speaker 7: try and get these I don't ever want them calling
- 19:42Speaker 7: me again because they're blowing my phone up all times
- 19:44Speaker 7: a night, early in the morning wondering if you please,
- 19:47Speaker 7: He said, for the love of God, do it for me, please,
- 19:53Speaker 7: I said, all right, get back now. I said, you
- 19:55Speaker 7: need to open that back door because I'm like gonna
- 19:56Speaker 7: tear up my hamstrings in that door. It hadn't been opened,
- 19:59Speaker 7: so I've been at Auburn. They opened that back door,
- 20:02Speaker 7: moved all the crap and opened the back door so
- 20:05Speaker 7: I can keep going cause the track practice was right
- 20:07Speaker 7: behind the door, went back down and got back down,
- 20:11Speaker 7: and I took off, ran, threw the laser and kept
- 20:14Speaker 7: going because I told my teammate, get my bag and
- 20:17Speaker 7: we're just gonna go. And I never came back to
- 20:19Speaker 7: see So when I was on my way back, no,
- 20:21Speaker 7: some of the guys came up to the track practice
- 20:24Speaker 7: because I'm trying to catch Harvey Glance, which I never did,
- 20:29Speaker 7: and they said, do you know what I had you
- 20:31Speaker 7: at hand time? I said no. They said I had
- 20:34Speaker 7: you at a three nine four. Another guy My hand
- 20:37Speaker 7: time was three nine five. Another guy said I had
- 20:41Speaker 7: you at three to three. And then the guy that's
- 20:43Speaker 7: running the electronic timer, he said, they're all wrong. I
- 20:49Speaker 7: got you at a four one three electronic that's crazy
- 20:54Speaker 7: at two twenty two.
- 20:55Speaker 5: But you got into the podcasting world yourself.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Huh, Like just starting wellness meant health physical health. It's
- 21:01Speaker 3: a wellness podcast, right, men's health men, all men's like,
- 21:05Speaker 3: all doubt, all men's health. What are you guys talking
- 21:06Speaker 3: about over there?
- 21:08Speaker 7: I'll tell you exactly what we're talking about. Let me
- 21:10Speaker 7: ask you a question. This is for both day. How
- 21:13Speaker 7: many times have you sit down with your buddies and
- 21:18Speaker 7: sat down and said, man, but you know something, I
- 21:21Speaker 7: had a crappy night's sleep because I woke up four
- 21:23Speaker 7: or five times to go the bath. We'll take a week.
- 21:27Speaker 5: All this.
- 21:29Speaker 7: Man, I can't play golf next week because they got
- 21:31Speaker 7: to go bit of coldon I speak, because salt some
- 21:34Speaker 7: blood and they still a couple of weeks ago. So
- 21:36Speaker 7: I got to get this thick together. We don't talk
- 21:37Speaker 7: about that. It is taboo for men to talk about that.
- 21:42Speaker 7: Now women, they'll go on National TV. They have groups
- 21:45Speaker 7: where they meet at lunch, glass of wine, dip. They
- 21:49Speaker 7: talk about mastectomies, cervical cancer, incontinence, they talk about everything
- 21:55Speaker 7: we men talk about. Ed Oh hell.
- 21:59Speaker 5: No, you're right. No, it's embarrassing. It feels embarrassed.
- 22:03Speaker 7: What every channel you turn on the TV, your iPad,
- 22:06Speaker 7: there's an ed AD. Now we can sit there and
- 22:10Speaker 7: read about it. Think about it up here, but we
- 22:14Speaker 7: don't talk about it amongst men. I want to peel
- 22:17Speaker 7: the layers off of that onion to make it comfortable
- 22:20Speaker 7: for us to talk, because knowledge is power. I'm a
- 22:24Speaker 7: cancer survivor as of three weeks ago, I have my
- 22:30Speaker 7: prostate taken out in October, had two cancer spots on it,
- 22:33Speaker 7: something that I probably could easily treat it. Treat it.
- 22:37Speaker 7: But one thing I do know, cancer and mother nature
- 22:40Speaker 7: is undefeated. They don't like to lose. They never lose.
- 22:45Speaker 7: The only thing that you're gonna do with cancer, like
- 22:48Speaker 7: in my situation, was to cut it out. First thing
- 22:51Speaker 7: you think of when you said, oh you gotta take
- 22:54Speaker 7: your process out. Oh there go. My ed problem has
- 22:58Speaker 7: got one hundred times work. I'm not gonna be able
- 23:02Speaker 7: to get laid no more. That's BS. That's BS. And
- 23:07Speaker 7: the reason I'm saying this is because I'm gonna take
- 23:11Speaker 7: this platform to make it comfortable for guys to go
- 23:15Speaker 7: to the doctor to get a PSA test, to go
- 23:17Speaker 7: get their colonnases, and don't be afraid of what the
- 23:21Speaker 7: doctor's going to tell them. Because a lot of guys
- 23:22Speaker 7: don't go to the doctor because they don't want to know,
- 23:26Speaker 7: and it goes back to knowledge is power. Use my
- 23:29Speaker 7: platform to come to your city. I know I will
- 23:31Speaker 7: be a natural because I got too many buddies, men
- 23:35Speaker 7: seminar on sit up at a sit up at an auditorium.
- 23:40Speaker 7: Get some of my friends to help host it. Get
- 23:44Speaker 7: their doctors, the professionals who know the answer to every
- 23:48Speaker 7: question that the audience got there. Ask have the audience
- 23:53Speaker 7: that's going to be there all men. We're going to
- 23:56Speaker 7: ask you to donate from anywhere from one to ten
- 23:59Speaker 7: bucks to come in and sit down and talk, and
- 24:03Speaker 7: those funds will stay in Nashville for guys who don't
- 24:07Speaker 7: have insurance like us, or can't afford to go get
- 24:10Speaker 7: a PSA test period. Try to help guys to gain
- 24:15Speaker 7: knowledge on their health instead of sitting up saying, oh,
- 24:20Speaker 7: I don't know if I got something, but this is
- 24:23Speaker 7: happening and it's getting worse and worse. I don't want
- 24:26Speaker 7: to go to the doctor cause I don't want to
- 24:27Speaker 7: find out what it is. Women talk about their issues
- 24:30Speaker 7: all day every day. We never do that. I want
- 24:34Speaker 7: to peel the layers off of that on you to
- 24:37Speaker 7: make it easy for God to do that. Because I
- 24:40Speaker 7: have two grandsons, and they're the best gift God has
- 24:44Speaker 7: ever given me. And I want to be around to
- 24:47Speaker 7: watch them play Little League baseball, watch them ride their
- 24:49Speaker 7: first dirt bike, watch them dive off the diving board
- 24:53Speaker 7: for the first time. That's what I live for now.
- 24:57Speaker 7: And by me using my platform to spread them message
- 25:00Speaker 7: it's okay to talk about your issues. I hope to
- 25:06Speaker 7: put some sunshine in somebody's cloud to make their life
- 25:10Speaker 7: a whole ideas because we need to open up and talk.
- 25:14Speaker 7: Stop this thinking that if I talk about this it
- 25:18Speaker 7: makes me less of a man. All my buddies are
- 25:21Speaker 7: gonna look at me like I got chink in my armor.
- 25:26Speaker 7: That doesn't matter. I don't care if I got a
- 25:27Speaker 7: chink in my armor as long as I'm around to
- 25:29Speaker 7: tell somebody, hell, I got chink in my armor. I'm
- 25:33Speaker 7: tired of burying my friends, going to friends funerals that
- 25:36Speaker 7: I went to high school with, college with, played against,
- 25:38Speaker 7: played with. And this is on a monthly basis and
- 25:43Speaker 7: the majority of it is because of cancer. Got to
- 25:47Speaker 7: do something about it. Buried a brother in law two
- 25:51Speaker 7: and a half. Three weeks ago, he had project cancer.
- 25:55Speaker 7: Decided to get Radiant five six years later, came back
- 26:00Speaker 7: and then a two year period it went from his prostate, bone, liver,
- 26:06Speaker 7: long then brains. He's he's gone. I got mine, taking
- 26:11Speaker 7: out and have it. Look back the habit, miss the
- 26:14Speaker 7: struggles and the one thing that you think, oh, that
- 26:19Speaker 7: goes my sex life, that's bull. That's bull. Don't be
- 26:24Speaker 7: selfish and do that to your family. Don't do that
- 26:26Speaker 7: to your kids. You should want to be around and
- 26:29Speaker 7: raise your kids, and you can't do it if you're
- 26:31Speaker 7: fighting the big sea.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Of course, it's men's health, right, bo knows men's health. Yes,
- 26:37Speaker 5: that's awesome.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Why would you start, like, why would you start doing
- 26:41Speaker 3: a podcast?
- 26:42Speaker 9: Because?
- 26:42Speaker 3: Is it because there's a consistency to it, Because you
- 26:44Speaker 3: can constantly get the message out.
- 26:46Speaker 7: I can constantly get the message out. And I'm speaking
- 26:49Speaker 7: from experience when I was twenty years old at Auburn,
- 26:55Speaker 7: in the prime of my life, thinking that I'm untouchable,
- 26:58Speaker 7: I'm superman. You get in my way and you're gonna
- 27:02Speaker 7: get shruck, no doubt about it. I can do anything
- 27:05Speaker 7: I want as far as sports. Wake up when morning
- 27:09Speaker 7: and go to the bathroom. There's blood in my store.
- 27:12Speaker 7: I have my first colon be at twenty or twenty one.
- 27:15Speaker 7: Since then, I bet I've had about fifteen to twenty
- 27:18Speaker 7: now that I'm sixty. I get it every three years.
- 27:22Speaker 7: I don't let a doctor tell me, hey, I'll see
- 27:24Speaker 7: you in ten years. Hell in ten years, but I
- 27:26Speaker 7: could grow a grape fruit inside inside of me. So
- 27:30Speaker 7: I go back every time. I just had it last month.
- 27:33Speaker 7: So I'm trying to stay up on my health, and
- 27:36Speaker 7: I want other guys to do the same thing, because
- 27:40Speaker 7: don't be selfish and cheat your family out of that.
- 27:43Speaker 5: I really appreciate the time both.
- 27:44Speaker 7: Thank you very much, guys.
- 27:45Speaker 5: Thank you man podcast. You'll be get out of it
- 27:47Speaker 5: what you're aiming to get out of it. I think
- 27:49Speaker 5: you've change a lot of lives.
- 27:50Speaker 7: That's what I look to do. That's what thank you
- 27:52Speaker 7: for having me, sir. I appreciate it.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I'm gonna go now to our talk with current Egos
- 27:59Speaker 3: linebacker Nikobe Dean. Nikobe won the Buckets Award in twenty
- 28:02Speaker 3: twenty one while playing for Georgia, which is given to
- 28:04Speaker 3: the nation's best linebacker. He won a national championship that
- 28:07Speaker 3: with the Bulldogs in the Super Bowl last year with
- 28:09Speaker 3: the Eagles. So thanks to NA Kobe for talking with
- 28:12Speaker 3: us here. He is Eagle Ni Kobe Dean n Koby.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Appreciate the time.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Man, definitely appreciate you.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Something I'm always interested in is going from warm weather
- 28:20Speaker 3: to cold weather because at Georgia, uh huh it's pretty warm, yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 3: kind and Philly it's pretty cold like that.
- 28:30Speaker 6: It doesn't seem as fun.
- 28:31Speaker 5: In the cold.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Uh, what you're talking about football?
- 28:36Speaker 1: Yeah, no, football and the cold is funny.
- 28:40Speaker 10: That means you made it late in the season and
- 28:42Speaker 10: it's probably around playoff time. So it is at least
- 28:47Speaker 10: at least in Georgia down south because it get cold
- 28:51Speaker 10: a little later.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Uh, it was a privilege to play in the cold.
- 28:54Speaker 10: That means you you made it to the playoffs and
- 28:57Speaker 10: you uh like growing up it was like Mississippi, you
- 29:01Speaker 10: played in the code.
- 29:01Speaker 1: That me you're playing late. So it's cool.
- 29:05Speaker 10: I mean it's football, so when you it is your profession.
- 29:08Speaker 10: So when you're playing in the cold, no matter, you
- 29:10Speaker 10: don't even feel it.
- 29:11Speaker 3: What was the change like with Philly fans?
- 29:14Speaker 10: Oh, I mean you got a fan base who probably
- 29:17Speaker 10: the most passionate fan base.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Uh there is uh, and they'll let you know. I mean,
- 29:22Speaker 1: I remember my rookie year.
- 29:25Speaker 10: I think I was out shooting pools or something and
- 29:28Speaker 10: I had a guy come.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Up to me, you know, he said, what's up, and
- 29:31Speaker 1: he was like, yeah, you know we real.
- 29:32Speaker 10: Passionate fans, like, uh, we'll take a bullet for you,
- 29:36Speaker 10: but we'll put.
- 29:36Speaker 1: You in front of one just as fast.
- 29:39Speaker 10: I was like, okay, see what type of you See
- 29:43Speaker 10: what type of people we got here?
- 29:45Speaker 1: But it's all good. Though, it was all good. They
- 29:47Speaker 1: passed it.
- 29:47Speaker 10: They uh, they want they want to win, and yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 5: I mean fans are pretty passionate.
- 29:53Speaker 10: Yeah, But I was at Georgia like, we ain't never
- 29:55Speaker 10: had no problem. Well you won all the time exactly exactly.
- 29:59Speaker 10: I'm we didn't take care of all that. So I
- 30:03Speaker 10: never really had no problem from our own fans. Never
- 30:06Speaker 10: if we was like I think my second year when
- 30:10Speaker 10: we when we during COVID year, we ain't.
- 30:13Speaker 1: We ain't have the best type of year.
- 30:14Speaker 10: But even then and then, like it was, no, I
- 30:19Speaker 10: don't remember ever see receiving any negative feedback from our
- 30:24Speaker 10: fans at all.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Why I'm a Cowboys fan, man, and I we disliked
- 30:28Speaker 2: the Eagles, but how much do you dislike the Cowboys?
- 30:32Speaker 1: Oh? Man?
- 30:33Speaker 10: I don't necessarily dislike no uh, no specific team, but
- 30:39Speaker 10: I mean, growing up, my mother disliked the Cowboys bad.
- 30:44Speaker 1: And it wasn't even because of the Cowboys.
- 30:46Speaker 10: It was because of the Cowboys fans that had lived
- 30:49Speaker 10: around us. This literally was the only reason she was
- 30:52Speaker 10: calling the Five Star Chicks. Oh yeah, talking about the fans. Yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 10: So it had nothing to do with the actual team,
- 31:00Speaker 10: was all. It had everything to do with the fans.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Before you go out, do you like to be completely
- 31:06Speaker 3: amped up or do you like to be as calm
- 31:08Speaker 3: as possible so you can think.
- 31:10Speaker 10: Clearly it's a build up. For me, it's a build up.
- 31:12Speaker 10: It's like, uh, it's kind of like it goes a
- 31:15Speaker 10: little bout a little and by the time I'm running out,
- 31:18Speaker 10: then it's I'm amped. Like I'm amp I don't I
- 31:21Speaker 10: don't be amped in the locker room, but like, as
- 31:23Speaker 10: soon as I'm running out of the tunnel, then I'm
- 31:25Speaker 10: I'm at the peak.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I'm way aamped up.
- 31:28Speaker 2: You just met Bo Jackson, Yeah, what was that?
- 31:30Speaker 1: Like? It was cool? It was cool man.
- 31:32Speaker 10: You talk about you see you've seen all the documentaries
- 31:38Speaker 10: and everything about Bow and Bo knows all that you
- 31:40Speaker 10: see all that, and it's like you see a lot
- 31:42Speaker 10: of like I just seen like Bears, Santa's and MS
- 31:45Speaker 10: Smith walking around just never seeing those guys you're talking
- 31:48Speaker 10: about some great in the game. So it's definitely cool
- 31:51Speaker 10: to be out here seeing them.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Both said he ran a four one.
- 31:54Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 31:55Speaker 5: That's what he said.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Well, he said they handheld him faster than that, but
- 31:59Speaker 3: he got a war one nine at Auburn.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Okay, at two twenty.
- 32:03Speaker 10: Or two twenty, Okay, I mean, what do you think
- 32:07Speaker 10: I would have said the same thing if they didn't
- 32:09Speaker 10: and they didn't have recognition.
- 32:14Speaker 1: He might be he might be telling the truth though
- 32:15Speaker 1: I was at the same thing.
- 32:16Speaker 5: What is your fastest report the time?
- 32:19Speaker 10: It's yeah, that's official, like a like a four or
- 32:22Speaker 10: five hand. And that was like in high school. I
- 32:30Speaker 10: haven't ran the forty cent. You didn't run it all Like, no,
- 32:32Speaker 10: in the cup I got, I got, I had tweaked
- 32:35Speaker 10: my pick, I couldn't uh and I at the time
- 32:38Speaker 10: I had just around the time it was to run
- 32:41Speaker 10: the forty I just wasn't healed yet. By the time
- 32:44Speaker 10: draft got here, I was here, but everybody thought I
- 32:47Speaker 10: was still hurt.
- 32:47Speaker 1: But it's all good.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Also, if there's a way that your time could hurt
- 32:52Speaker 3: you but not help you, like why do it?
- 32:55Speaker 6: Yeah, like it.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Wasn't you weren't gonna do anything to help. Everybody knew
- 33:00Speaker 3: where you were going to fall in the draft, like
- 33:01Speaker 3: you were that dude. But you go in and you
- 33:03Speaker 3: run a little slower, maybe they start going maybe maybe
- 33:05Speaker 3: he's not that dude.
- 33:06Speaker 10: Well, my draft process was a little weird, just because
- 33:11Speaker 10: the week the week of the draft, it was everybody
- 33:14Speaker 10: thought they were saying I was heard and this that
- 33:17Speaker 10: and the third and I'm like, i don't know what
- 33:19Speaker 10: everybody was talking about.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I'm injury prone.
- 33:20Speaker 10: I haven't missed the game in college, I haven't missed
- 33:23Speaker 10: the practice, but I'm injured prone because I tweaked my
- 33:25Speaker 10: pick while I'm training for the draft.
- 33:28Speaker 6: Anyway, you think that was to get you to fall?
- 33:30Speaker 5: You think they were playing that stuff out there.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I'm not going to say that, but I did.
- 33:33Speaker 10: I mean, I feel alway the eight third pick, but
- 33:35Speaker 10: I fell to the right team. Uh No, super Bowl later,
- 33:40Speaker 10: super Bowl champion later.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I'm good. I'm not playing in it, and we up
- 33:44Speaker 1: for a country this year, So I'm blessed.
- 33:46Speaker 3: What is this week like and how is it different
- 33:48Speaker 3: than a regular season because you got two weeks. But
- 33:51Speaker 3: you try to not get too a too early in
- 33:53Speaker 3: the process, right, Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 10: I mean, well you got to you're playing football. Is
- 34:00Speaker 10: like you kind of know that you're playing the football,
- 34:02Speaker 10: but you not really. I guess my first the first year,
- 34:06Speaker 10: I didn't even play.
- 34:07Speaker 1: In the one last year because I had heard my knee.
- 34:10Speaker 10: Because but the first year, I mean, I feel like
- 34:13Speaker 10: the once we won the NFC Championship, it's like you
- 34:17Speaker 10: amped up for like a couple of days, empt up
- 34:20Speaker 10: for a couple of days. I think I was more
- 34:22Speaker 10: amped up because we got the bye week, the age
- 34:25Speaker 10: of by week to relax and not relaxed. We were
- 34:27Speaker 10: still praxing, but to not play a game.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I think I was more amped.
- 34:31Speaker 10: Up about that, uh, because I got to go watch
- 34:34Speaker 10: the the my board always winning another national championship against
- 34:39Speaker 10: TCU back in twenty twenty two.
- 34:42Speaker 5: That's an ugly game for tc year.
- 34:43Speaker 6: Yeah that's quick, that's quick.
- 34:45Speaker 10: That yeah twenty three, But yeah it was, so I
- 34:48Speaker 10: think I was more amped up about that.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Then by the time you get to the game and everything,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you you.
- 34:52Speaker 10: Kind of kind of able to live it out your
- 34:54Speaker 10: emotions and just play football.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Tell me about kind Hearts for Life.
- 34:58Speaker 10: Oh, this is my foundation that me my mother started,
- 35:01Speaker 10: we started, you know, she kind of set the foundation
- 35:04Speaker 10: of my giving back and and giving back to the
- 35:08Speaker 10: community and just just being out there and trying to
- 35:11Speaker 10: spread positively and light to everywhere.
- 35:15Speaker 7: You know.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Our motto is reaching for.
- 35:17Speaker 10: The hand of touching the heart, and we feel like
- 35:20Speaker 10: we truly, truly try to do that with starting with
- 35:23Speaker 10: the youth. That's kind of our main folks, trying to
- 35:25Speaker 10: give back to the youth.
- 35:26Speaker 1: And if we have.
- 35:28Speaker 10: An event it can be a thousand kids. Then if
- 35:29Speaker 10: I'm able to touch one kid and just put a
- 35:34Speaker 10: sense of confidence and belief that they can do whatever
- 35:37Speaker 10: they want to do in life, then I feel like
- 35:40Speaker 10: I've done.
- 35:40Speaker 4: No.
- 35:41Speaker 5: How do people find out more about your foundation?
- 35:43Speaker 1: You can go uh, you go on line?
- 35:46Speaker 10: Yeah, you go on social media Instagram at kind of
- 35:49Speaker 10: Hearts for Life Life Speed with l YLFU in the
- 35:54Speaker 10: four number four, or you can go kindhardst Forlife dot com.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Awesome. I really appreciate the time. Definitely, Yeah, thank you
- 36:00Speaker 5: very much.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Today We're gonna go over now and talk with five
- 36:03Speaker 3: time gold medalist swimmert Ryan Murphy. Ryan's won nine Olympic
- 36:07Speaker 3: medals all time for Team USA even brought one to
- 36:09Speaker 3: the interview, which we talk about. We also got into
- 36:12Speaker 3: the discussion about swimming from Alcatraz. Here is Ryan Murphy.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Hey Ryan, good to see you man.
- 36:18Speaker 11: Yeah, great to see you too.
- 36:20Speaker 5: Where do you live? What do you train?
- 36:21Speaker 4: So?
- 36:21Speaker 12: I'm trained to have cal so I live live in
- 36:23Speaker 12: the area. So I'm in a city called Rinda.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Where'd you grow up?
- 36:27Speaker 11: Grew up?
- 36:27Speaker 4: So?
- 36:27Speaker 11: I was born in.
- 36:28Speaker 12: Chicago, grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. Basically came out here
- 36:31Speaker 12: for school and then swimming. There's no pro draft or anything,
- 36:34Speaker 12: so most people end up training with their with their
- 36:36Speaker 12: college coach.
- 36:37Speaker 5: So you just stayed stay feel like home?
- 36:40Speaker 12: Yeah yeah, Now it's like, I mean, he's an interesting place,
- 36:43Speaker 12: Like so many of my friends from college have just
- 36:45Speaker 12: stayed here. So it's great. Like we have a really
- 36:48Speaker 12: really solid trend of group out here.
- 36:50Speaker 5: What are the mornings, like, what do you start training?
- 36:53Speaker 12: I mean, I wake up, I'm pretty much picking up
- 36:55Speaker 12: at five every day in basically three times a week,
- 36:59Speaker 12: I go straight to the weight room, start lifting.
- 37:02Speaker 11: Do that for an hour and then go to the pool.
- 37:04Speaker 12: And then the other days it's pretty much wake up
- 37:05Speaker 12: and go to the pool and just get get right in.
- 37:08Speaker 5: I'm assuming you're doing full body right when you work out?
- 37:12Speaker 12: Oh yeah, yeah, because I think we go in the
- 37:14Speaker 12: weight room like there's a level of like we're trying
- 37:16Speaker 12: to maximize explosiveness, there's a level of injury prevention and
- 37:21Speaker 12: so like swimming is so much like lats and back
- 37:23Speaker 12: and so like you kind of want to balance things out.
- 37:27Speaker 12: But yeah, it's full body, so anything like squats, I
- 37:30Speaker 12: mean squats, lunges, pull ups, bench Queen's core.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Is there a tapering situation with you before you race?
- 37:38Speaker 11: Like, well, yeah, tapering's big sweet.
- 37:40Speaker 12: Pretty much four weeks out from a meat we'll we'll
- 37:43Speaker 12: start to dial back the volume intense stays pretty high,
- 37:47Speaker 12: but the volume comes down probably by like seventy percent
- 37:51Speaker 12: when you get to the week of the of the race.
- 37:54Speaker 2: This may be the dumbest question you've ever gotten, but
- 37:56Speaker 2: is there every time you get to the pool and
- 37:58Speaker 2: the water is way too cold?
- 38:01Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 38:01Speaker 12: Like right now this morning, Yeah, like I jumped in
- 38:05Speaker 12: and it's like I let out, I let out an audible.
- 38:10Speaker 11: Like it was so it was so cold and then
- 38:13Speaker 11: then it sucks.
- 38:14Speaker 12: You just have to like you have to go fast
- 38:16Speaker 12: and warm up in order to to then not feel cold.
- 38:20Speaker 12: Uh So, yeah, that's a brutal part of the sport
- 38:23Speaker 12: for runners.
- 38:24Speaker 3: If there's wind that can affect the race and if
- 38:26Speaker 3: it's an official time. Is there anything in swimming where
- 38:29Speaker 3: that would like the temperature of the water, like does
- 38:31Speaker 3: that actually make you swim faster, or if like the
- 38:34Speaker 3: little pomp is on at the bottom and it's actually
- 38:36Speaker 3: on while you're swimming, that's a bubble.
- 38:38Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, there's.
- 38:39Speaker 12: I mean in the in the short races, it doesn't
- 38:42Speaker 12: make it as big of an impact.
- 38:43Speaker 11: But sometimes there's a.
- 38:45Speaker 12: Current in the pool and it typically like goes in
- 38:47Speaker 12: a circle, So if you're on the outside lanes, one
- 38:50Speaker 12: direction ends up being you know, pretty sizeable difference faster,
- 38:55Speaker 12: Like it ends up being like we're going probably half
- 38:57Speaker 12: a second faster going one way versus the other.
- 39:00Speaker 11: Uh So, the current is probably the biggest.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Thing, And that's a real thing.
- 39:04Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 12: They like when you get to the big meet, they're
- 39:05Speaker 12: supposed to turn that off for all the races, but
- 39:09Speaker 12: it's still somehow that it's still sometimes slips.
- 39:12Speaker 11: Through the grounds.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Is there a lane that you want?
- 39:16Speaker 12: I mean, to be honest, you probably want the outside lane.
- 39:18Speaker 12: Like if you're thinking about just like waves in.
- 39:20Speaker 5: The pool, but you can't see as many people, then
- 39:22Speaker 5: right exactly.
- 39:23Speaker 11: So that's like the that's the trade off. Like if
- 39:26Speaker 11: you're like, if.
- 39:27Speaker 12: You don't need to see people to like kind of
- 39:29Speaker 12: drive you to that extra level of to push through
- 39:33Speaker 12: that extra level of pain, like, then you're finding the outside.
- 39:36Speaker 12: But if you need to see people, you want to
- 39:38Speaker 12: be right in the middle lane four or five?
- 39:40Speaker 5: Do you need to see people?
- 39:42Speaker 7: Uh?
- 39:42Speaker 11: I like to.
- 39:43Speaker 12: I like to yeah, because I think I mean, there's
- 39:47Speaker 12: so many different philosophies, Like so many coaches say, like
- 39:49Speaker 12: focus on your lane, focus on your race, Like yeah,
- 39:52Speaker 12: you want to do that. But like at the end
- 39:53Speaker 12: of the day, like I'm good because I'm super competitive
- 39:56Speaker 12: and so saying people helps me kind of get a
- 39:59Speaker 12: little bit more out of.
- 39:59Speaker 3: My So when you're training, well they have like a rabbit,
- 40:04Speaker 3: a pool version of a rabbit that you chase, or
- 40:07Speaker 3: is a time that you can see or even like
- 40:09Speaker 3: a laser that you can actually see while you're going.
- 40:13Speaker 12: I mean, it ends up being like no it ends
- 40:16Speaker 12: up being old school, just like you know, kind of
- 40:19Speaker 12: verbal motivation. Uh, in different you know, there's different styles
- 40:23Speaker 12: and tactics, so you can get that can be pretty
- 40:26Speaker 12: hardcore sometimes and other times you can just feel like hey,
- 40:29Speaker 12: like yeah, you like realistically, like if your best competition
- 40:33Speaker 12: in the world was doing this next to you, like
- 40:35Speaker 12: they they'd be going faster.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Like if there was like a la, a rabbit on
- 40:38Speaker 3: the bottom of the pool that you could see that
- 40:39Speaker 3: you knew was an exact time when you're swimming against that.
- 40:42Speaker 3: They don't have that technology. I think it just invented
- 40:45Speaker 3: something great. Yeah, yeah, throw it in the bottom of
- 40:47Speaker 3: the pool, a rabbit if you're trying to be this
- 40:49Speaker 3: time and that rabbit or that dolphin fish the dolphins
- 40:53Speaker 3: going a certain.
- 40:53Speaker 11: You're done, You're done with this podcast, you're starting.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Yeah, because you know when we watch the Olympics, like
- 41:00Speaker 2: you have the world record right in front you all
- 41:02Speaker 2: obviously don't see that, but for us, it's like he's
- 41:04Speaker 2: he's almost there.
- 41:06Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, it's it's gnarly and like watching it back,
- 41:09Speaker 12: you're like, damn, I do wish I know I knew,
- 41:12Speaker 12: Like so it would be cool, it would be cool
- 41:15Speaker 12: to have that, you know, have that like right in
- 41:17Speaker 12: front of your face kind of when you're doing these
- 41:19Speaker 12: fast efforts, but not nothing there yet.
- 41:23Speaker 3: How do you decide what stroke you're going to do
- 41:27Speaker 3: when you're young, when you're in those formidable twelve thirteen
- 41:29Speaker 3: year old years.
- 41:30Speaker 12: So you kind of train for everything and then and
- 41:33Speaker 12: then at some point it just becomes clear what you're
- 41:36Speaker 12: better at. I'd say, like the only stroke where it's
- 41:39Speaker 12: very clear if that's your best stroke is breaststroke. So
- 41:42Speaker 12: basically like if your feet are kind of more of
- 41:45Speaker 12: like duck feet, like.
- 41:46Speaker 5: They like just go out, like if you're born that way.
- 41:49Speaker 12: Yeah, like some like you see some people walking by,
- 41:51Speaker 12: they just have like their feet are out. I mean oppositly,
- 41:53Speaker 12: I'm pigeon toed, And so for me, like that ended
- 41:57Speaker 12: up being better for backstroke, But I probably started leaning
- 42:01Speaker 12: into that as my best stroke when I was like
- 42:02Speaker 12: fifteen or sixteen.
- 42:04Speaker 2: So Bobby and I talked about the guys that escaped Alcatraz. Yeah,
- 42:10Speaker 2: and Bobby is like, you know, I've gone by Alcatraz,
- 42:13Speaker 2: Like I feel like I could swim it. Do you
- 42:15Speaker 2: think you could swim it?
- 42:18Speaker 11: Yeah, So I've done it.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Before and how was it cold.
- 42:21Speaker 11: I hated it.
- 42:22Speaker 12: I actually hated that so much because I didn't go
- 42:26Speaker 12: like I just went. I went into brief like I
- 42:29Speaker 12: wasn't I wasn't wearing a body or a wet suit
- 42:32Speaker 12: or anything like that.
- 42:33Speaker 11: And so like that water is like.
- 42:35Speaker 12: Fifty and like you can't see, like if you put
- 42:39Speaker 12: your hand in the water, you could see maybe like
- 42:41Speaker 12: two ft in front of you.
- 42:42Speaker 11: You're getting hit with these waves.
- 42:44Speaker 12: And then it's like in some cases there's another there's
- 42:47Speaker 12: another race called the Tiberan mile.
- 42:50Speaker 11: Tiberan is a shark.
- 42:52Speaker 12: Yeah, And so then you're like start thinking about that,
- 42:55Speaker 12: and I'm like, no, it's it's not for me.
- 42:56Speaker 11: So I did it once, and that's that's good.
- 42:58Speaker 2: You think the guys made it, the listeners, I think so.
- 43:03Speaker 12: I mean, it's like if you're I mean, if it's
- 43:05Speaker 12: literally like you're you're actually life or death in that scenario,
- 43:08Speaker 12: you're you can make that.
- 43:10Speaker 5: That's what I felt too.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Although it is extremely cold and it's extremely that there's
- 43:15Speaker 3: a bunch of waves.
- 43:16Speaker 5: But I felt like if it were like I might die,
- 43:18Speaker 5: I think I think I could probably make You could
- 43:21Speaker 5: do it.
- 43:21Speaker 11: You could do it.
- 43:22Speaker 5: You have a medal with you.
- 43:23Speaker 11: I do, I do. It's been just been sitting in my.
- 43:26Speaker 5: Pocket everywhere you go.
- 43:27Speaker 11: So it's just got nice. We got a nice warm
- 43:30Speaker 11: metal here.
- 43:30Speaker 5: Wow, So tell me about this metal all right?
- 43:33Speaker 12: So after I'm the that was from the Paris Olympics.
- 43:35Speaker 12: This is yeah, So that one was so that was
- 43:39Speaker 12: a mixed medley relay. So basically in that one, it
- 43:43Speaker 12: was a it was a race between US in China,
- 43:46Speaker 12: uh and basically mixed medley. Really you go two males
- 43:49Speaker 12: and two females to do whatever order you want, and
- 43:52Speaker 12: so China and the US ended up we did the
- 43:55Speaker 12: same exact strategy. So we went two males, so we
- 43:58Speaker 12: would I let off baxxtro, another male go breaststroke, and
- 44:01Speaker 12: then we'd female fly and then female free and it
- 44:05Speaker 12: was pretty much as a dog fight the whole way through,
- 44:08Speaker 12: like we were within a tenth of a second the
- 44:11Speaker 12: whole way. We end up winning the winning the race
- 44:15Speaker 12: by I think point oh five.
- 44:17Speaker 11: We broke the world record.
- 44:18Speaker 12: And then what I learned after the Games, we ended
- 44:21Speaker 12: up beating China in the gold medal count by one medal.
- 44:25Speaker 12: So this was a this was a super important race
- 44:27Speaker 12: to for the US to get it done.
- 44:30Speaker 11: So it was an awesome atmosphere. We were, I mean
- 44:33Speaker 11: we were. We celebrated hard after that one. That was
- 44:35Speaker 11: it was it was really really fun.
- 44:36Speaker 5: Well, how are you feeling going in? How's your training
- 44:38Speaker 5: right now?
- 44:39Speaker 11: It's good.
- 44:39Speaker 12: I mean, I'm I'm honestly in a mode where like
- 44:41Speaker 12: I took I took time off after Paris, so I'm
- 44:43Speaker 12: I'm really just ramping up now. So I'm I mean,
- 44:46Speaker 12: I'm taking my licks. I'm kind of getting my butt
- 44:48Speaker 12: handed to me in practice. But it's it's it's good.
- 44:50Speaker 12: I'm I'm building up the fitness. I'm excited. La is
- 44:54Speaker 12: gonna be unbelievable. So I so I feel good, like
- 44:57Speaker 12: I think I'm gonna be in a good spot. Even
- 44:59Speaker 12: the progress in this yeah, in this past month has
- 45:01Speaker 12: been has been really significant.
- 45:04Speaker 11: So I think it's coming back pretty quick.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I really appreciate your time. Good luck, Thanks for bringing
- 45:08Speaker 3: the metal.
- 45:08Speaker 5: That's awesome, cool, got it?
- 45:09Speaker 11: You got it?
- 45:10Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks for hanging out with us today. That's awesome.
- 45:16Speaker 3: And now our talk with Rams defensive back Quentin Lake.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Quinton was a sixth round pick by the Rams out
- 45:20Speaker 3: of UCLA. Just got a new contract extension last month,
- 45:23Speaker 3: So congrats to him. Thanks to Quentin from jumping on
- 45:25Speaker 3: with us here he is Quentin Lake. Hey, Quentin, good
- 45:28Speaker 3: to see you, man, Good to see you. How much
- 45:29Speaker 3: of a relief is it when you get a contract extension, Like, well,
- 45:32Speaker 3: how does that feel emotionally?
- 45:34Speaker 8: Emotionally? It feels great.
- 45:35Speaker 9: Personally For me, it felt even better because I was
- 45:38Speaker 9: at home, you know, like I'm from California, and really,
- 45:42Speaker 9: for such a great organization to be like, hey, we
- 45:45Speaker 9: want you to be a part of the future, that's
- 45:46Speaker 9: one of the best feelings ever, you know, to be
- 45:48Speaker 9: able to have not only the security on the team,
- 45:51Speaker 9: but to understand like they bought into you.
- 45:54Speaker 8: That means so much.
- 45:55Speaker 9: And I'm I'm really blessed and really thankful that they're like, hey,
- 45:59Speaker 9: you know, we cherish you value and we want to
- 46:01Speaker 9: see you here for the next three years.
- 46:02Speaker 3: I've been through some pretty significant contract negotiations and the
- 46:05Speaker 3: whole time they're negotiating front of add like I don't
- 46:06Speaker 3: really know. I'm trying to do focus, but I kind
- 46:08Speaker 3: of know, and like I'm having small conversations.
- 46:12Speaker 5: Is that to you? Does that wear you down at all?
- 46:14Speaker 5: Or you just let them do their thing while it's happening.
- 46:16Speaker 8: I mean, that's the reason why you have an agent,
- 46:17Speaker 8: you know, that's the reason.
- 46:18Speaker 5: I have an age of two.
- 46:19Speaker 3: But I'm like, I need to know every day well
- 46:21Speaker 3: I know.
- 46:21Speaker 5: I know.
- 46:22Speaker 8: That's why for me.
- 46:23Speaker 9: It's like a lot of athletes can kind of get
- 46:25Speaker 9: in trouble if you think about it too much. But
- 46:27Speaker 9: if you never want to let that side of it
- 46:29Speaker 9: affect your play. And I always told myself, if I
- 46:32Speaker 9: take care of what I need to in between the
- 46:33Speaker 9: white lines, everything will take care of itself.
- 46:35Speaker 8: These processes arelong.
- 46:36Speaker 9: Mine was eight months, you know, of constantly talking making sure,
- 46:40Speaker 9: hey we're always in good communication. But at the same time,
- 46:43Speaker 9: I was like, hey, I'm gonna let you handle it.
- 46:45Speaker 9: You know, I'm going to go out there and put
- 46:47Speaker 9: my best work that I can and everything will fall
- 46:50Speaker 9: in place. There's a saying if they want to, they would,
- 46:53Speaker 9: and that's exactly what it is. If they want to
- 46:55Speaker 9: do contracts and stuff like that, they're going to make
- 46:57Speaker 9: it happen.
- 46:57Speaker 8: And at the end of the day, that's exactly what
- 46:59Speaker 8: happened with me.
- 46:59Speaker 3: In about when you.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Get drafted to stay home like you'r UCLA.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Did you think that was going to be the case
- 47:05Speaker 3: with the conversations that, hey, if you're there, we're gonna
- 47:07Speaker 3: take you.
- 47:08Speaker 9: Oh no, not at all. I had So the Rams
- 47:10Speaker 9: did it a little bit differently. They just sent me
- 47:13Speaker 9: a questionnaire and that was it. It was like one
- 47:14Speaker 9: hundred question questionnaire to see like different attributes, different values,
- 47:19Speaker 9: what are your you know, what are things that you
- 47:20Speaker 9: like and stuff like that. I honestly thought it was
- 47:22Speaker 9: gonna be either the Patriots, Raiders or Dolphins. The Raiders
- 47:26Speaker 9: dB coach called me and he was like, hey, if
- 47:28Speaker 9: we have you at blah blah blah round and this number,
- 47:31Speaker 9: we're gonna come get you. And you hear this story
- 47:34Speaker 9: a ton of times. Okay, it's round six, pick one,
- 47:37Speaker 9: thirty two, it comes up. They say, this is exactly
- 47:40Speaker 9: where are they gonna get you? Another name pops up.
- 47:42Speaker 9: You're like, man, like, what's up with that? Like that's
- 47:46Speaker 9: that's crazy to me, you know. But at the same time,
- 47:49Speaker 9: when my name did pop up round six to eleven
- 47:52Speaker 9: and it was their Los Angeles Rams, I was like, man,
- 47:54Speaker 9: what a blessing. I'm around my family, I'm around my friends,
- 47:58Speaker 9: I'm in a familiar environment. I don't have to fly
- 48:00Speaker 9: anywhere to go to the facility. I'll just drive up
- 48:02Speaker 9: in my twenty seventeen Toyota Corolla and get my you know,
- 48:06Speaker 9: pj's and my clothes and all that stuff too.
- 48:08Speaker 8: So it was a wonderful, wonderful feeling.
- 48:10Speaker 2: What about your pops, Like, how did he prepare you
- 48:12Speaker 2: for the league?
- 48:14Speaker 7: Man?
- 48:14Speaker 9: He's, uh, We've we've been talking about it for a
- 48:16Speaker 9: long time. There's this acronym that we use, it's called
- 48:18Speaker 9: eight and we always say, you want to go, you
- 48:21Speaker 9: want to go eight and APE stands for your attitude,
- 48:24Speaker 9: your preparation, or your effort. Those are three things that
- 48:26Speaker 9: you can control on a day to day basis. And
- 48:29Speaker 9: he says, as long as you do that, no matter what,
- 48:32Speaker 9: you know, you'll probably be successful. And on top of
- 48:35Speaker 9: that is he says, you don't want anybody to outwork you.
- 48:39Speaker 9: You don't want anybody to out hustle you, and you
- 48:41Speaker 9: don't want anybody to outprepare you, and the cream will
- 48:44Speaker 9: always rise to the top. And I've been he's been
- 48:46Speaker 9: telling me that, you know, drilling that into my brain
- 48:49Speaker 9: ever since. Really he understood that, you know, I can
- 48:53Speaker 9: make it to the NFL because when I was young,
- 48:55Speaker 9: he was like, I'm just gonna take a step back.
- 48:57Speaker 9: I'm not going to coach you. I'm gonna let you
- 48:59Speaker 9: figure it out on your own. And then when he
- 49:00Speaker 9: saw like, oh man, he might actually make it. He
- 49:03Speaker 9: might get drafted, he might you know, he got a chance.
- 49:05Speaker 9: That's when he was fully invested. And that's when we've
- 49:07Speaker 9: been talking about it. And football is all love language.
- 49:09Speaker 9: Now we talk about it all the time. We go
- 49:11Speaker 9: over games. If a guy, if I go home, I'll
- 49:13Speaker 9: bring my iPad and we'll go over a whole game
- 49:14Speaker 9: and he'll get me all the tidbits that he knows
- 49:17Speaker 9: from him being in the NFL so long.
- 49:19Speaker 5: Matthew Stafford won the MVP last night. What's he like
- 49:21Speaker 5: in the locker room?
- 49:22Speaker 9: One of the best human beings I've ever been around.
- 49:26Speaker 9: The thing about him is not only is he a
- 49:28Speaker 9: great leader, great player, great person, but you just want
- 49:32Speaker 9: to model the way for him. He's such a great father,
- 49:36Speaker 9: and I think that plays into who he is in
- 49:38Speaker 9: terms of his character. There was a viral clip a
- 49:41Speaker 9: couple of days ago, a couple of weeks ago about
- 49:43Speaker 9: him tucking his daughters after we lost you know after
- 49:45Speaker 9: we lost an NFC championship, and that goes to show
- 49:47Speaker 9: that you want to be around guys like that, not
- 49:50Speaker 9: only guys that are great players, great friends and great
- 49:53Speaker 9: acquaintances with great fathers too.
- 49:55Speaker 8: He I mean we talk about all the time.
- 49:57Speaker 9: One of our sayings is modeled the way, and he
- 49:59Speaker 9: models the way as a round for sure.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Man, I always loved since I was a kid the
- 50:04Speaker 2: Rams helmet. Like to me in the league, that Rams
- 50:06Speaker 2: helmet with the morning is like, take yourself out of
- 50:10Speaker 2: the Rams. What's your favorite helmet, even from when you
- 50:13Speaker 2: were little.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Man.
- 50:15Speaker 9: I think I'm a little bit biased, but those yellow
- 50:18Speaker 9: Pittsburgh and the yellow Pittsburgh with the black those like
- 50:22Speaker 9: when I was playing Madden, and obviously I was born
- 50:24Speaker 9: in Pittsburgh, Dad played and all that stuff too, But
- 50:26Speaker 9: those are like the holy grail for me.
- 50:27Speaker 3: That's very biased, but you can still Yeah, it's not
- 50:30Speaker 3: a little bias's that's very biased, but I love those helmets.
- 50:34Speaker 8: And then I also say this, the Buccaneers cream pol Yeah,
- 50:37Speaker 8: those are sweet. Those are sweet.
- 50:39Speaker 9: So and then last one, not least like our midnight
- 50:42Speaker 9: jerseys that we had as Rams, like I had to
- 50:44Speaker 9: buy that I had to buy that helmet because I
- 50:46Speaker 9: was like, I got to keep this thing forever.
- 50:48Speaker 5: If you give your jersey to another guy, do you
- 50:50Speaker 5: got to pay for the jersey?
- 50:51Speaker 9: It's like five it's like five hundred dollars, No way,
- 50:54Speaker 9: you have to pay for it. So yeah, I had
- 50:56Speaker 9: to pay like twelve hundred dollars for mine for all
- 50:59Speaker 9: my jersey and you can buy more and you yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 9: you have to buy all your stuff.
- 51:02Speaker 6: Like you come on, you like, nothing's free.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Nothing is free.
- 51:05Speaker 6: They're not gonna be like, hey, we're gonna give you this.
- 51:07Speaker 5: What about the new deal? Like I need ten year.
- 51:10Speaker 9: Yeah, you could do ten jerseys, but it'd probably be
- 51:13Speaker 9: a couple thousand, or.
- 51:14Speaker 5: You could get the money instead.
- 51:16Speaker 2: But isn't that surprising though, that like the first one's
- 51:18Speaker 2: not free and if you lose that, you pay for
- 51:20Speaker 2: the replacement like a credit card.
- 51:22Speaker 6: It'd be yeah, that's true.
- 51:23Speaker 9: But they say like, hey, you know, sometimes especially during
- 51:26Speaker 9: the preseason, like hey, no jersey swaps, you know, because
- 51:29Speaker 9: we got to get through all these joy preseason, they'll
- 51:31Speaker 9: be like, hey, no jersey swaps this time, unless it's
- 51:35Speaker 9: like a special occasion you played with them in college
- 51:38Speaker 9: or best friend or.
- 51:39Speaker 8: Something like that. But other than that, you gotta pay
- 51:40Speaker 8: for them.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I appreciate the time. Congratulations on the extension, looking forward
- 51:44Speaker 3: to big things from you.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Guys next year.
- 51:45Speaker 8: Said thank you so much, Thank you very much.
- 51:47Speaker 3: All Right, that's gonna do it for us today.
- 51:49Speaker 5: Everybody good.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, I'm ready for the offseason.
- 51:52Speaker 5: That's it.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Now, we're done.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Done. Dude, it's so sad. Sundays are gonna feel so weird.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Saturdays are gonna feel weird.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Saturdays are kind of been clear though for the
- 52:02Speaker 3: most part.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Yeah, already.
- 52:03Speaker 6: I watched the first college basketball game that I've watched
- 52:06Speaker 6: so far as a duke. North Carolina won great game.
- 52:10Speaker 5: Carolina was down pretty big at half.
- 52:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and then they I was just watching on my
- 52:14Speaker 3: phone and they kept getting closer and I was like wow.
- 52:16Speaker 3: And then I didn't watch the end of it. And
- 52:18Speaker 3: then I see that that three pointer from the corner,
- 52:21Speaker 3: and I didn't know what year was from, and then
- 52:22Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, that's the game.
- 52:25Speaker 6: It was crazy.
- 52:26Speaker 2: That was That play was planned out like done, It
- 52:29Speaker 2: was executed perfectly.
- 52:30Speaker 6: Did you see Belichick's girlfriendar in the shirt?
- 52:34Speaker 3: Did you see that Eddie referencing Robert Krafts.
- 52:37Speaker 6: Yeah, that massage.
- 52:38Speaker 2: Parlor No way, what did it say?
- 52:40Speaker 6: Whatever that I don't I couldn't read it. But whatever
- 52:42Speaker 6: that massage parlor company was or.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Whatever, Savage, that's crazy.
- 52:47Speaker 6: At the North Carolina game.
- 52:48Speaker 3: That felt weird when you said that.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Why it is savage?
- 52:54Speaker 6: Think it's cringey or oh he got a little too excited.
- 52:58Speaker 2: He's like savage.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Yeah, just kind of. It's like Papal trying new words.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Stop come man six seven exactly.
- 53:06Speaker 6: All right, We will see you guys.
- 53:08Speaker 5: Bye everybody.
