- 0:00I'm once again interrupting the flow of the Bible study on the
- 0:05book of Jeremiah because of something relevant in our day
- 0:12today. So this week of the recording
- 0:16that I'm doing, America will be celebrating Thanksgiving.
- 0:22And I don't know if you were like me, but what I recalled
- 0:26from being a child and what, you know, child drawings and so
- 0:29forth is that we had the, you know, the Pilgrims and the
- 0:34American Indians celebrating a meal together.
- 0:37And it was peace and unity. And that's kind of what I've
- 0:41always thought of in my mind about Thanksgiving.
- 0:44It was, you know, just that peace came upon these the the
- 0:48people and they were celebrating together.
- 0:53However, this recently I happened to listen to AI Guess,
- 1:01a sermon by Jonathan Cahn on YouTube.
- 1:03I just listened to those things listen most of the time rather
- 1:07than watch. But I was listening to this and
- 1:10all of a sudden he drew a correlation between the Feast of
- 1:15Tabernacles or Sukkot and Thanksgiving.
- 1:19And I thought, wow, this is the first time that I've ever heard,
- 1:24you know, that I, I didn't have that correlation before.
- 1:31And, and I do know that the Feast of Tabernacles, it
- 1:36commemorates the 40 years of the Israelites wandering in the
- 1:39wilderness, and it represents God's protection, provision, and
- 1:44faithfulness. And it's also a celebration of
- 1:48the harvest and God's presence among his people.
- 1:52And that's both historically and and symbolized by Jesus, who is
- 1:58God with us. For Christians, it further
- 2:02symbolizes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and future
- 2:06restoration of God's Kingdom. So this was something that God
- 2:12commanded. And what's even interesting too
- 2:15is that there were three different festivals that God
- 2:20said to the Israelites that I always want you to remember.
- 2:23One of them was Passover. The next was the Feast of First
- 2:28Fruits or the Feast of Weeks, and then after that was the
- 2:33Feast of Tabernacles. There were three different ones
- 2:35that they were to remember all the time.
- 2:38And they do have prophetic significance because things were
- 2:43fulfilled on those feast days. And people today are thinking,
- 2:48you know, the Feast of Tabernacles is going to be the
- 2:50final fulfillment of prophecy. When Jesus returns, a lot of
- 2:55people think he will return at that point just because God.
- 2:59The way God has done this so far, like Passover was the whole
- 3:05story of Passover was very symbolic of Jesus.
- 3:08Jesus died on Passover and was resurrected, so he fulfilled
- 3:14that prophecy that was basically given.
- 3:18It was a literal event though Passover really, you know it did
- 3:21happen, but it was pointing to Jesus.
- 3:25Then there is the Feast of Weeks or the Feast of First Fruits,
- 3:30and the feast of weeks is like 50 days after.
- 3:36And that happened to be Pentecost, A Shavuot.
- 3:42And that happened to be when the Holy Spirit came to the
- 3:47disciples, the apostles of Jesus after he had died in died and
- 3:53resurrected and then the Holy Spirit came upon them.
- 3:57And so that was another Jewish feast day that had something
- 4:01special happen on it. And also the Feast of First
- 4:05Fruits, Jesus was considered the first fruit of his resurrection.
- 4:09So there's a lot of symbology in literal events.
- 4:13Now the Feast of Tabernacles is another one of those which God
- 4:21wanted everyone to remember. And so actually there's another
- 4:26one. Rosh Hashanah is another date or
- 4:28another festival that is remembered, and that's another
- 4:32one. That's the Feast of Trumpets
- 4:34where a lot of people think Jesus will return.
- 4:36So I got I misspoke on that. It wasn't the Feast of
- 4:40Tabernacles, but the Feast of Trumpets.
- 4:42The Feast of Tabernacles comes after the feast of trumpets, but
- 4:46that is a celebration and and I believe that this feast of
- 4:52Tabernacles is going to be everyone celebrating after Jesus
- 4:56returns in his Kingdom. And because this said in the
- 5:02Bible, it says that all nations who choose not to go to
- 5:08Jerusalem to celebrate this Feast of Tabernacles will not
- 5:14have rain. So God will.
- 5:16I mean, that's, that's what it says.
- 5:18That's a consequence of not going to celebrate the Feast of
- 5:22Tabernacles in Jerusalem. So this is really interesting.
- 5:26This is like in our future. It's not right now.
- 5:28And but all of this, you know, just understanding the feast and
- 5:33the things that God put into the Bible and taught people all
- 5:37along so that they would see these things fulfilled and they
- 5:42would then understand the significance these events had
- 5:46and why God wanted everyone to do this.
- 5:50So anyway, Long story short, hopefully is I was listening to
- 5:57this, this video and it was talking about how it was talking
- 6:04about the similarities between the Feast of Tabernacles and
- 6:08America's Thanksgiving. And so then I decided, well, I,
- 6:13I wanted to like look into this more because I never really drew
- 6:17that connection, nor did I really have God as the forefront
- 6:25of Thanksgiving. It was more or less like, you
- 6:30know, ultimately, yes, it would be thanking God because God
- 6:33makes everything possible for us.
- 6:35God provides for everything and but I didn't realize, and maybe
- 6:40it's my ignorance of American history, but I didn't realize
- 6:43that the whole purpose of Thanksgiving was to thank God
- 6:48for all of this. Like does everybody realize
- 6:51that? Was I the only one who is
- 6:52ignorant that this day of Thanksgiving is thanking God,
- 6:59thanking the creator God, the one true almighty God?
- 7:04And this goes back to the foundation of our country.
- 7:08And if we the, the, there were many different events that
- 7:12happened because I was looking this up.
- 7:15And so there were groups of people who were celebrating and
- 7:18I think there was some celebration of this from Europe
- 7:23that was brought over. There were the Puritans, there
- 7:25were the Pilgrims, there was the Native Americans who all had
- 7:31some sort of thankfulness for the harvest.
- 7:35So that's essentially like everybody had that commonality.
- 7:40But when we look into our founders and we look into, I
- 7:46think there was a general directive that Washington gave,
- 7:50but then on there was a Thanksgiving proclamation on
- 7:55October 3rd, 1789 by President Washington.
- 8:02And this is very significant to the people living in the United
- 8:06States because this tells us, shows us why Thanksgiving
- 8:13initially was proclaimed to all the nations and then after
- 8:19Washington does, 74 years later, Abraham Lincoln made it a
- 8:25national holiday. So I'm going to read both of
- 8:28these proclamations that were made, the first by George
- 8:33Washington. And there is so much in here
- 8:38that relates to what the Bible says.
- 8:42So let's get started. This is a Thanksgiving
- 8:44Proclamation, October 3rd, 1789, by the President of the United
- 8:50States of America. A proclamation.
- 8:54Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the
- 8:59Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful
- 9:05for His benefits, and humbly implore His protection and
- 9:10favor. And WHEREAS both Houses of
- 9:14Congress have by their joint committee requested me in
- 9:20quotations to recommend to the people of the United States a
- 9:25day of public Thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by
- 9:31acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of
- 9:37Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity
- 9:42peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and
- 9:47happiness. So in that very first paragraph,
- 9:51it states this is acknowledging God.
- 9:56We all need to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits.
- 10:02So all of our benefits that we get are from God and to humbly
- 10:07and humbly to implore His protection and favour.
- 10:12Our founding fathers had the protection of God in
- 10:17establishing this country. And I believe that we too, at
- 10:22this time, at this day in 2025 and forevermore on Thanksgiving,
- 10:29we should do these same things that Washington, the president
- 10:33of the United States, our first president, said for, you know,
- 10:37to give praise and thanks to the Lord to improve his protection
- 10:42and favor. Do we not need that in our world
- 10:45today? Do we not need that as the
- 10:47United States today? Now, just as ever, we need God
- 10:54and so this was a public Thanksgiving and prayer to be
- 10:59observed with grateful hearts. And the purpose or the reason is
- 11:05because of the many signal favors of Almighty God that gave
- 11:11us the an opportunity to peaceably establish a form of
- 11:18government for safety and happiness.
- 11:22All thanks is going to God in this paragraph.
- 11:25Now I'm going to read the second paragraph now.
- 11:28Therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of
- 11:33November next, to be devoted by the people of those great States
- 11:39to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the
- 11:44beneficent Author of all that, all the good that was, that is,
- 11:50or that will be. That we may then all unite in
- 11:55rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind
- 12:01care and protection of the people of this country previous
- 12:07to their becoming a Nation. For the signal and manifold
- 12:11mercies, and the favorable interpositions of His
- 12:15Providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of
- 12:20the late war. For the great degree of
- 12:24tranquility, Union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed.
- 12:29For the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been
- 12:34enabled to establish constitutions of government, for
- 12:39our safety and happiness, and particularly the National 11 is
- 12:45capitalized, the National one now lately instituted.
- 12:51For the civil and religious liberty with which we are
- 12:56blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing
- 13:00useful knowledge. And in general, for all the
- 13:04great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer
- 13:10upon us. So that's one long sentence and
- 13:14there is a lot in there. First of all, it's devoted that
- 13:19the people he's claiming making a proclamation that the people
- 13:24of these states to be devoted by the people of the states to the
- 13:30service of that great and glorious being.
- 13:33That is saying he's devoting like all of us of the United
- 13:37States to the service of that great and glorious being.
- 13:40Being is capitalized God so that we are of service to God.
- 13:45This is something that our founding Father stated this
- 13:48proclamation of Thanksgiving and he recognizes that he is the
- 13:55author of everything that's good that is today and or that will
- 13:59be and then he's asking that we all unite in rendering unto him
- 14:07our sincere and humble thanks. We all are united to thank God
- 14:12and we're thanking Him for His care and His protection of the
- 14:16people of this country and for His mercies and all the things
- 14:25that they experienced during this process.
- 14:29And His Providence, His superiority, his, you know, he
- 14:36is in control over everything which was experienced by our
- 14:40founding fathers and particularly it says, and
- 14:46particularly the national one. Now lately instituted, it sounds
- 14:50to me and I don't know if I'm interpreting this correctly, but
- 14:54it see it seems to me that there was a turning towards God at
- 14:57this point. Now lately instituted that God
- 15:01was being recognized for all these things, these successes.
- 15:06And then it goes on to say about religious liberty or freedom
- 15:10which we are blessed and all the favors that God has done.
- 15:16So this is a a praise to God for everything God did to with with
- 15:25our founding fathers in this country.
- 15:28It continues on in the third paragraph.
- 15:30And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our
- 15:36prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of the
- 15:42nations, and beseech him to pardon our national and other
- 15:47transgressions. To enable us all, whether in
- 15:51public or private stations, to perform our several and relative
- 15:57duties, and punctually to render our national government a
- 16:03blessing to all the people, by constantly being a government of
- 16:09wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully
- 16:17executed and obeyed. To protect and guide all
- 16:22sovereigns and nations, especially such as have shown
- 16:27kindness unto us, and to bless them with good government,
- 16:32peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and
- 16:36practice of true religion and virtue, and increase of science
- 16:42among them and us, and generally to grant unto all mankind such a
- 16:48degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best given
- 16:56under my hand, at the city of New York, the third day of
- 17:00October, in the year of our Lord 1789.
- 17:06And this was President Washington.
- 17:09And so that third paragraph, he is, he is saying that he wants
- 17:14everyone to unite in a humble offering and prayer and
- 17:18supplications to God and acknowledging that God is the
- 17:22ruler of all nations and to beseech him to pardon our
- 17:28national and other transgressions.
- 17:30He's recognizing that there are sins among the nation.
- 17:36It's not everybody is perfect. This is saying, you know, that
- 17:39he's pardoning our national and other transgressions to enable
- 17:43us all to perform duties and one and the duties, I guess to
- 17:51render our national government a blessing to all people.
- 17:55And this is, he says, how we would be a blessing to all
- 17:58people by constantly being a government of wise, just and
- 18:03constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and
- 18:07obeyed to protect and guide our all sevens and nations, to bless
- 18:14them to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion
- 18:21and virtue. So there's a lot in here about
- 18:25focused on God and focused on thanking him and recognizing
- 18:30that he is the one who has blessed us as a nation.
- 18:35He is the one that's behind him. It's through the faith that
- 18:38people had, our founding fathers, the faith that they had
- 18:42in God that enabled us to live in this blessed country that we
- 18:49have. And over time, it, this ties
- 18:53into the book of Jeremiah, because if you recall, the last
- 18:58several chapters that Jeremiah had said was that all of these
- 19:04bad things were coming on Israel on the actually it was Judah
- 19:11because they had forgotten God. You know, they may have said
- 19:16with their lips talked about God, but it wasn't in their
- 19:19hearts. They had turned away from God.
- 19:23They were getting into the Pagan, paganism cultural
- 19:29traditions. They were, you know, blending
- 19:32with that. They were forgetting God.
- 19:34They were ignoring his commands. And there were many times in the
- 19:39Bible, and I don't know which book, but it's a lot of
- 19:42different books, I believe, where God just said, you know,
- 19:45I'm done with your sacrifices. I don't want any more of your
- 19:48sacrifices. I want you to rule justly.
- 19:53I want you to take care of the widows and the orphans.
- 19:56And he went through all of these lists of what he wanted people
- 20:00to do, the rulers, those who were.
- 20:02In charge of the law that he he was he was done with the
- 20:05sacrifices. He didn't want people to say I'm
- 20:07sorry, here's, you know, my sacrifice for this.
- 20:10He's like, I don't want that. I just want you guys to do it
- 20:12the right way first. And that's very much, when I
- 20:15read this, what Washington said, very much what God was telling
- 20:19Israel to do it all along, constantly being a government of
- 20:23wise, just and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully
- 20:29executed and obeyed to protect and guide all sovereigns and
- 20:33nations. And this is, you know, this, it
- 20:37does tie into Israel in a sense, simply because history repeats
- 20:44itself. Look at what God has done,
- 20:47comparatively speaking, with the United States of America, the
- 20:52blessings that He had bestowed upon America and that our
- 20:59founding fathers glorified Him, honored Him, praised Him, and
- 21:05thanked Him for all they recognized that He was behind
- 21:09it, that God is behind all of this.
- 21:12And today in our world, we are drawing further and further.
- 21:17It does feel like we have a little bit of a revitalization,
- 21:20A revival happening in the in America today.
- 21:24But in, you know, there is a little bit that is sensed by me
- 21:30that I see. And this is a really good thing.
- 21:33And I hope that it continues because it doesn't bode well for
- 21:37nations that turn away from God. They turn themselves over to
- 21:41slavery typically and destruction.
- 21:44And that's a consequence of decisions by people.
- 21:48But if we can all make a decision to be a servant to God,
- 21:53to just like Washington said that to the service of that
- 21:58great and glorious being, he's talking about God.
- 22:02If we can all commit to that, we can turn things around.
- 22:06We are just like we are experiencing right now what
- 22:09Israel or Judah, both Israel and Judah experienced back in the BC
- 22:16era. Those things that they
- 22:19experienced are like history repeats itself and history
- 22:23repeats itself because people don't learn from the past.
- 22:28And so if we could all remember and start turning our thoughts
- 22:34and our prayers to God, if this Thanksgiving everyone could
- 22:39recognize God, maybe search for this document.
- 22:44I it was in the Washington Papers, the Let's see Founders
- 22:49Online National Archives Thanksgiving Proclamation, 3
- 22:54October 1789. If you want to search that under
- 22:58founders.archives.gov. That's where I I got this from
- 23:03Washington. And maybe it's time for us to
- 23:07read this on Thanksgiving and to, to remind ourselves why we
- 23:13are doing this, what we are thankful for, who we are
- 23:16thanking. So then Lincoln about 74 years
- 23:22later, on the same date, this is October 3rd, 1863, he made a
- 23:27proclamation. He's the one who made it into a
- 23:29national holiday. So I'm going to read what he
- 23:32says, which has much of the same sentiment as Washington did.
- 23:36So here is his proclamation by the President of the United
- 23:40States of America, a proclamation.
- 23:43The year that is drawing toward toward its close has been filled
- 23:50with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies.
- 23:55To these bounties which are so constantly enjoyed that we are
- 24:01prone to forget the source from which they come.
- 24:07Others have been added. Let's see others.
- 24:12Yeah, others have been added which are of so extraordinary a
- 24:17nature that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften the heart
- 24:23which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful provenance
- 24:30of Almighty God. Again, Lincoln is acknowledging
- 24:35God. He is saying we have so much to
- 24:38be grateful for. We have so many things,
- 24:41provisions from God. And because we have such great
- 24:45provision from God, we, we, you know, get to the point where we
- 24:49just rely on ourselves. We think we've done it all.
- 24:52We don't recognize that God gave it to us.
- 24:55God gave us everything good that we have.
- 24:59And we are prone to forget the source.
- 25:01This is what he says, quote, we are prone to forget the source
- 25:05from which they come. And when you think about it, and
- 25:10he's saying this is like such an extraordinary a nature that it
- 25:16has to soften your heart. When you look at all of the good
- 25:19things that God has done, it has to soften your heart.
- 25:23And our heart is habitually insensible to the ever watchful
- 25:31Providence of Almighty God. God is always watching, God is
- 25:36always providing and we get to a point where it it's, we take it
- 25:42for granted. That's what happens.
- 25:44We take things for granted, and we don't thank God that He has
- 25:49given us all the blessings that we have, Lincoln continues in
- 25:54his second paragraph. In the midst of a civil war of
- 25:58unequaled magnitude and severity, which is sometimes
- 26:02seemed to foreign States to invite and provoke their
- 26:06aggressions, peace has been preserved with all nations,
- 26:12order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and
- 26:17obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in
- 26:23the theater of military conflict.
- 26:27While that theater has been greatly contracted by the
- 26:31advancing armies and navies of the Union, needful diversions of
- 26:36wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to
- 26:41the National Defense, have not arrested the plow, the shuttle,
- 26:46or the ship. The axe has enlarged the borders
- 26:50of our settlements and the mines as well.
- 26:54And the mines as well of iron and coal as of the precious
- 26:57metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore.
- 27:05So there's an abundance happening.
- 27:08Then, he continues. Population has steadily
- 27:11increased. So that's almost like, you know,
- 27:16God said basically he said go and increase, increase and
- 27:22multiply. That's what he told Adam and Eve
- 27:24in the beginning that we were to, they were to, you know, go
- 27:30ahead and have a lot of kids. So population has steadily
- 27:33increased during this time that Abraham Lincoln was saying this,
- 27:37notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the
- 27:42siege and the battlefield, and the country rejoicing in the
- 27:46consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted
- 27:53to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
- 28:00Again, God is all about freedom, liberty and freedom, and it's no
- 28:06surprise that God was behind our founding fathers in granting
- 28:13this to those people of faith who started our country.
- 28:18Now this next thing is another, the next paragraph that Abraham
- 28:23Lincoln wrote. No human counsel hath devised,
- 28:28nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things.
- 28:34They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while
- 28:39dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless
- 28:45remembered mercy. This is a significant thing
- 28:50because Abraham Lincoln is saying there's no human counsel
- 28:55or any person who made these great things happen.
- 29:00They are gracious gifts of the most high God who while dealing
- 29:05with us in anger for our sins. So there are consequences to
- 29:10sins and that's what you know, war is a consequence of sin.
- 29:15But it's saying but nevertheless, he remembered
- 29:18mercy like God is merciful. And it could have been because
- 29:22of the faith of the founding fathers that there were those
- 29:26faithful ones who apparently were remembering God.
- 29:30And we're praying. And we're probably behind the
- 29:35turn of events that resulted in freedom because there was ugly
- 29:40sin that was entered the world. And that as soon as people turn
- 29:45to God, there is always that temptation to sin and there's
- 29:48always the enemy that wants to corrupt that goodness of God,
- 29:51that faith towards God. And even in our, you know,
- 29:56forefathers, they had these same things.
- 29:59They were dealing with the enemy, the spiritual enemy of
- 30:03God, who incites people to do sinful things.
- 30:08And so God deals with everyone for sins, but he also is
- 30:15merciful. God was the same way back in the
- 30:20Bible when Abraham nephew Lot was living in Sodom and Gomorrah
- 30:26and the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah had reached the heavens
- 30:30and there was either an angelic being, well there were two
- 30:36angels and perhaps it was Jesus. They call it a Christophany
- 30:42where he was actually present. It seemed from the conversation
- 30:46that was had with Abraham and Sarah that I think it was
- 30:51probably Jesus that actually visited with two angels before
- 30:55the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 30:57Anyway, it it was the prayer of Abraham who was faithful to God
- 31:02and prayed for his nephew Lot. So God remembered, it said in in
- 31:09the Bible that God remembered Abraham's prayers.
- 31:11He was a righteous man. He remembered his prayers and he
- 31:14spared Lot from the destruction. So prayers of righteous people
- 31:21are powerful. So I would imagine that because
- 31:24God doesn't change and history repeats, that there were some
- 31:28prayers of faithful ones that were making our country advance
- 31:34in doing the will of God in abolishing slavery.
- 31:39And so anyway, continuing on what Abraham Lincoln said, it
- 31:44has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly,
- 31:50reverently, and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart
- 31:55and one voice by the whole American people.
- 32:01He wanted unity here, he continues.
- 32:04I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the
- 32:09United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are
- 32:14sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last
- 32:20Thursday of November next as a day of Thanksgiving and praise
- 32:27to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.
- 32:34So right here he says the last Thursday of November is a day of
- 32:39Thanksgiving and praise to God our Father.
- 32:46That's what Thanksgiving is about.
- 32:47It's not just thanking for the food we have, it is thanking for
- 32:50the food we had. But it's praising our God, it's
- 32:53remembering God. And do we remember God on this
- 32:58day? Do are we like our forefathers?
- 33:00Did we know that our forefathers said these things?
- 33:04It continues on, and I recommend to them that while offering up
- 33:09the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular
- 33:13deliverances and blessings, they do also with humble penitence
- 33:19for our national perverseness and disobedience.
- 33:25Commend to His tender care all those who have become widows,
- 33:30orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife
- 33:36in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore
- 33:41the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds
- 33:46of the nation, and to restore it as soon as may be consistent
- 33:52with the Divine purpose. Purposes to the full enjoyment
- 33:57of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.
- 34:02In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused
- 34:07the seal of the United States to be affixed.
- 34:11Done at the City of Washington this third day of October in the
- 34:17year of the Lord 1863, and of the Independence of the United
- 34:25States, the 88th Abraham Lincoln and by the president, William H
- 34:33Seward, Secretary of State. And that concludes Abraham
- 34:37Lincoln's. But that last paragraph that he
- 34:40said he was looking for, he was acknowledging the acknowledging
- 34:45and wanting, desiring one heart and one voice by the whole
- 34:50American people. We need to remember what the
- 34:52Bible says about this. A house divided cannot stand.
- 34:57That's what Jesus said. A Kingdom divided cannot stand,
- 35:01so a nation divided cannot stand.
- 35:04We really need to be in unity and and get back to God.
- 35:11Seek God individually and let you know.
- 35:16Ask God to guide us. Ask God for the Holy Spirit to
- 35:20be present. Acknowledge Jesus and thank God
- 35:24for what Jesus did that he sent his only son to die on the cross
- 35:28for us and that Jesus resurrected and he is living
- 35:31today and that he intercedes for us with the Father and he made
- 35:36it possible for us to be in God's Kingdom.
- 35:39And if we believe that and we turn to God and say we want to
- 35:44get rid of our sin, we're tired of our sinful life, we want to
- 35:48get rid of that and we ask God and we and we're sincere about
- 35:52that God will give us the Holy Spirit and that will happen over
- 35:56time. It's that instantaneous.
- 35:59But little by little, God works with us and begins to change us
- 36:03to be more like what I believe is what he created us to be
- 36:07until, you know, that's what he desired for us to be until we
- 36:12our ancestors succumb to sin. And then we, you know, had that
- 36:16as a part of us says that's what we go for.
- 36:19That's what we desire. That's what that's where we
- 36:22naturally, if we just go by what we naturally desire, it's sinful
- 36:26things. So we need the Holy Spirit of
- 36:29God to change that direction. And if we try to do it on our
- 36:33own, we'll we're foolish. Just like, you know, Lincoln was
- 36:37observing. He said no human counsel hath
- 36:40devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great
- 36:43things. Well, that's the same in our in
- 36:46ourselves. When we change, it's not by us.
- 36:49If we change by us, it might be temporary, but if we go change
- 36:52by God, that's something entirely different.
- 36:55And God can do the impossible. And so then he, he wants to set
- 37:02apart this day and observe the last day.
- 37:04We're supposed to be giving Thanksgiving and praise to God.
- 37:09And then he also asked, he's also penitent in this, he said.
- 37:14And also with humble penitence for our national perverseness
- 37:19and disobedience. So all of there were, you know,
- 37:24it's a consequence of sin. Again, like forgive us God for
- 37:28our sinfulness. Forgive our nation for our
- 37:32sinfulness and please, as he's saying here, provide care for
- 37:37those who became widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers
- 37:42due to this civil strife that we had as a country and that today,
- 37:47you know, we do have this civil unrest.
- 37:51And we don't really want to get into what historically has
- 37:56happened. We really want, I think this
- 37:59would be a prayer that everyone can say, for Thanksgiving for
- 38:03our nation, to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it
- 38:09as soon as may be consistent with the divine purposes, to the
- 38:15full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.
- 38:21Again, this is saying, you know this.
- 38:23These are the things we want God and we want to be consistent
- 38:27with divine purposes. So God will, God's will does
- 38:32prevail, but in accordance with the timing of God's will, we
- 38:38pray for the wounds of the nation to be healed and for the
- 38:42nation to be restored. That would be a wonderful prayer
- 38:46if we all said that prayer on Thanksgiving.
- 38:49I hope you join me and I hope many other people will do this.
- 38:53And if you are in agreement with this, please share this with
- 38:58other people and please share this with others to, you know,
- 39:01find these documents, read Abraham's proclamation for
- 39:06Thanksgiving in Washington's and maybe read it at your family
- 39:10dinner. Recognize the tradition.
- 39:12Maybe, you know, share this with others.
- 39:14So and then just we all need to stay in the word.
- 39:19And so I'm going to go back to the book of Jeremiah, but I just
- 39:22thought that after finding this out, I thought it was really
- 39:27important to share this about America, about Thanksgiving, and
- 39:32most importantly, about God.
