Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_07: Welcome back to the Reborn Podcast, the place where we explore faith, business, and the people making an uh impact in their communities.
- 0:07SPEAKER_07: Today's episode is a special one.
- 0:10SPEAKER_07: I'm sitting down with Addy Thernock and Bella Bragg, two incredible young women who have hearts chasing after God.
- 0:21SPEAKER_07: Young women who brought the Run with Christ or RWC Ministry to Indianapolis.
- 0:27SPEAKER_07: So blessed to be in the same room and be growing with them closer to Christ.
- 0:33SPEAKER_07: And here's the thing they didn't wait until they had life figured out, until they were not busy.
- 0:43SPEAKER_07: They are both college students, correct?
- 0:47SPEAKER_07: Beautiful.
- 0:48SPEAKER_07: Doing this in college, balancing classes, balancing their own personal faith journeys, which as we know as young adults, it's a lot to process.
- 0:58SPEAKER_07: And leading a growing ministry, they were just uh professed over that.
- 1:02SPEAKER_07: They are now entrepreneurs.
- 1:03SPEAKER_07: Congratulations.
- 1:06SPEAKER_07: That uh a ministry that's impacting lives, doing something as simple as running together, taking cold plunges, eating chick-collect, and becoming chick-fil-a can't can't be chick-colored, right?
- 1:17SPEAKER_07: I mean, you know, maybe everybody I I might get in trouble for saying that here.
- 1:22SPEAKER_07: But uh if you haven't heard of RWC, it's not just about fitness, it's about community, discipleship, and making space for people to encounter God in everyday life.
- 1:33SPEAKER_07: And what Addy and Bella have built here in Indy is a beautiful example of what can happen when you say yes to the calling God put on your hearts.
- 1:43SPEAKER_07: Today we're going to talk about how they got started, what it's like to lead in the middle of real life busyness, and the impact they're seeing in the community, and maybe how you can be a part of it too.
- 1:55SPEAKER_07: So, with that said, Abby Bella, I am blessed to have you guys here.
- 2:00SPEAKER_07: Thank you for being here.
- 2:12unknown: Thank you so much for having us on here.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Um it's just like not even real for us because literally just a few months ago, Addie and I didn't know each other.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Um, we were complete strangers, and just as you said, like trying to manage school, life, your own faith journey, it can be uh it can be hard in your early 20s, it's not easy.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Um, but the Lord has been so kind to us, and we just would have never never expected um this here right now.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: So we just we want to thank you so much for having us on here.
- 2:48SPEAKER_07: Absolutely.
- 2:50SPEAKER_07: And I know you guys are relatively newer to this ministry, to this calling on your lives, and I just want to say, first of all, you've inspired tons of people by one word, which is yes.
- 3:07SPEAKER_07: Yes, that's all it takes, yes, and then you clear it away.
- 3:11SPEAKER_07: And so I want to thank you both for that and adding as as you shared on Saturday, your testimony, Bella.
- 3:18SPEAKER_07: You've shared your testimony, and today we'll dive deeper into that.
- 3:22SPEAKER_07: Um, you know, you guys do have your tissues for a reason.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: We're very emotional people, yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: We are but that's that's that's a great thing.
- 3:31SPEAKER_07: The the spirit of the Lord is emotional, right?
- 3:35SPEAKER_07: Like it's the Lord loves us so much that well now to say John 3 16 uh that he gave his only son, right?
- 3:48SPEAKER_07: And so that that sort of love deserves tears.
- 3:53SPEAKER_07: I mean, if we're not if we're too afraid to even cry because it makes us look vulnerable, how how is that receiving his love for us?
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's what did you tell me before I shared my testimony Saturday?
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Um vulnerability attracts heaven.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Because I was just an emotional mess before Saturday, getting up in front of everybody to like be vulnerable and share my testimony.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: And I look up and I'm like, I'm gonna cry.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: And I already was crying before I even walked up there, and she's like, Vulnerability attracts heaven, and I was like, You're right.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Why are we why are we trying to hold back?
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And I cried.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: I cried a lot.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: We both do.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: And so do I, and that's okay, and that's okay.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: The Lord gave us emotions for a reason, yes, and they're beautiful, and that's something that um yeah, we have been learning to step into going into run with Christ, um, is vulnerability.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Um I've always been a I I guess I I would have said I was a sensitive person growing up, and I used to find a lot of shame in that, honestly.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I was always really hard on myself of why why does everything like make me feel so deeply or why do I feel so strongly about things that I wish that I just didn't care about?
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was emotional, I still am very emotional, but um through Run with Christ, it's been crazy how much the Lord has been revealing to us about ourselves and just learning about um who he has created us to be.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: But vulnerability is one of them.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Like when you're stepping into a ministry um where by the way, we still don't know why the Lord chose us, um, because there are so many um more people out there that are way better suited for this than us, but we do know that like the Lord took two really broken girls um to use for his glory.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Um, but stepping into vulnerability, um, it can be really easy to show up on a Saturday at a run really excited, which we usually are because it's so much fun, and uh you know we're in community and it's there it there's just so many fun things.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Um but like we also are are still walking in with our burdens and we're still walking in with whatever season we're walking through.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Um and it's really important to to show vulnerability um because we aren't perfect Christians and um the Lord never promised us an easy life, if anything, it honestly could be harder to be a Christian sometimes.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, just just like the the lesson of vulnerability does attract heaven, it's beautiful.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Um it's beautiful to show, like, wow Lord, I used to be this broken person, let me share my story because I know that it gives you glory.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Um and it also drops that facade of Christians are perfect, they never sin, they never make mistakes, they don't fall into temptation and all of those things.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, we we love vulnerability around here.
- 6:55SPEAKER_07: And that's why the Lord chose you.
- 6:58SPEAKER_07: Your obedience, your vulnerability, the fact that Belle, as you know, we had that conversation, really the first conversation we had had, where you just lovingly shared truth with me and have helped me to reflect and to grow, and there's a reason why not only did he choose you, but he chose you and and and now you're producing so much fruit.
- 7:28SPEAKER_07: We've seen week after week encounters and miracles happening, and God doesn't work on accident, he works with very intentional and purposeful plans.
- 7:42SPEAKER_07: So obedience with that said take us back to the beginning.
- 7:52SPEAKER_07: Um, because I think when people think about leadership or leaders, they oftentimes can misconstrue in their minds, oh, they're perfect.
- 8:03SPEAKER_07: They are they uh in the beginning of my faith journey, I I was kind of delayed because I saw the church as Pharisees.
- 8:14SPEAKER_07: I saw like, you know, people go into church Sunday morning on with their Sunday best on, and then Saturday night they were like out clubbing and drinking and sleeping around and different, you know, things of this world.
- 8:28SPEAKER_07: And and that's what a lot of people see church or leaders as, right?
- 8:32SPEAKER_07: Is they they want to persu uh uh portray that they are perfect when in reality.
- 8:42SPEAKER_07: I would love to hear the truth from two leaders.
- 8:46unknown: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_07: Two of the best leaders I know.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, thank you, Tony.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: You can go.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Do you want us?
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Um I guess we can just kind of share our our personal like stories, our walks with the Lord, because that really is what led us to leadership.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Um there I I wish I could sit here and just say You can't be you can't lead if you don't if you're not led.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Yes, ex yes, exactly.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And we can't sit here and say, like, this is how to be a leader and this is how to be a good leader because we we can't tell you that.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Um we we're so new to this, and we also know that um it's just the Lord working.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, so I have always been a believer.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: I grew up, I just want to say I have the most amazing, beautiful family.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Um, I am so blessed with the family that the Lord has given me.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Um and I have two very loving parents, um, a very beautiful marriage to look up to.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and we grew up going to a Lutheran church, and if I'm being so honest, growing up, I thought church was so boring.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: I didn't understand why I was there.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: It was just a bunch of like stand up, sit down, let's sing a hymn, read out of the Old Testament.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Um, the Old Testament can be confusing as it is sometimes.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: So as a child, I was like, this is so boring.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't like it.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Um, I hated going to church, really.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: I would throw a fit, like it just wasn't something that I liked.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Um and then um, but I feel like, and I I grew up with my parents, um, you know, we always prayed and they talked about the Lord, but for me, it was really just a Sunday thing where I was like, okay, we go to church on Sundays, we believe in God, that's what we do.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: My parents come in my room at night, we pray, um, we pray before we eat, and that was really the extent of everything.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Um, so it was very, I think, works-based for me, which growing up with that mentality, and it's not a mentality that anyone put on me.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: I really just think it's something that I that's how I perceived it.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Um, so a lot of my life was based on works where I wanted to be perfect, I wanted to never make a mistake, um, you know, still still deal with perfectionism right now.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: But I growing up, I didn't realize that I I um struggled with perfectionism and just striving to do the best I can in school um and like just anything that I was doing, I I wanted to be perfect, I didn't want to make a mistake.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Um, and when I did it, it really weighed on me um way more than it should.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: And so then growing up, that led um once I got into high school, that led me to judgment, where since I had this idea of like, okay, I want to be perfect, um, you know, once you get into high school, people are like, well, okay, I'm gonna party, I'm gonna drink, I'm gonna smoke, I'm gonna do all these things, and I didn't want to do those things.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Um, so I was like, okay, I'm just I'm not gonna be friends with my friends anymore.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and I am just I I I judged them.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: I didn't realize that I was at the time.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I I used to be so um defensive if anyone brought anything up about myself where I would just I would be so defensive and just um had this idea that I knew I wasn't perfect, but since I was striving to be, I I had this mentality that I was.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Um but so I I thought since I wasn't drinking, smoking, whatever, I thought that I was a good Christian because I wasn't doing those things.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: But I was in a relationship um from 14 to 18 where I I was in sexual sin um from a very young age, and so I was sinning in other ways.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Um, but I had just this mentality of well, I'm only struggling in this area and all these other areas I don't struggle with, so so I'm good.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Um and but I was stuck in so much judgment um and almost resentment to um to my friends that I that I used to have.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Um and that led me into a very um isolated season.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: So my freshman year until the summer going into my senior year of high school, I was so isolated.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: My the relationship that I was in um was very toxic.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, it um it was very hurtful, very toxic.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: It just wasn't something healthy for uh, you know, the ages of 14 to 18 are really important growing up.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Um you're learning so much about yourself.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, when you have this like this this toxicity in your life, and that's really the only relationship that you have because I I isolated myself with all the friends that I, you know, used to hang out with.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: There was nobody um there kind of trying to call me higher or tell me, hey Bella, this is this is not good.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Um, so I was so isolated and just just stuck in like deception and manipulation.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Um and I I got to this point where I was so I was so tired of it.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I was so tired of the way that it made me feel that I decided, okay, um I'm gonna live for the world now.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: I think that I'm going to do everything that everyone else does.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: So my senior year of high school, I I turned into a partier and I like identified as that.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: I identified as my sin, where I was like, no, I am I do party now.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: This is what I do, this is who I am.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: So I lived for every weekend.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Like I just I just wanted to get to Friday night so that I could get drunk.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: That's what I wanted.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Um and it had a hold on me for that year, and that led me to choosing to go to IU Bloomington, my freshman year of college, because I was like, I'm a partier now, this is what I do.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna, I'm gonna move there, and I'm gonna have so much fun, I have freedom, um, I get to choose.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Like, um, I in high school, like on Saturday nights when I would get drunk, I would, I would be like, wow, I have to go to church in the morning.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, I don't want to go to church hungover, like I'm gonna feel horrible and all of those things.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and I genuinely had this mentality of, oh, when I go to school, like I can just drink, I can be out as late as I want, and I don't have to go to church.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but I was living this like double life because I at that point I did love Jesus in high school.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: I started to learn who Jesus was because my family and I, we started going to a non-denominational church.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: I started to learn who Jesus was, but I didn't fully know him because I wasn't in a relationship with Jesus.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Um, I just started to learn a little bit of his wisdom.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: So I lived this double life of people were like, wow, she's like the the church girl or she loves Jesus.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: She's like a people would call me a Jesus freak, but um I if they knew who I was behind closed doors, they wouldn't have called me that.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Um my Instagram looked like I just love the Lord.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Um and I did, but I didn't love him the way that I do now.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, so I lived for the world, and then um about a month and a half in to IU, I was in my dorm room, and I was the most hungover that I had ever been in my life.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Um, it was honestly just embarrassing how sick that I was.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: I was by myself, my roommate wasn't there, um, I couldn't keep anything down.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: I um I was sick for hours, and conviction hit me so hard.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: Where the Lord was like, I have made you for so much more than this life that you're choosing to live.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: So, and I knew also it was a Sunday morning, and I knew my family was at church worshiping the Lord, and that really, really weighed on me.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: So I decided to start going home every weekend after that, um, just trying to get myself out of that environment of temptations, the people that I was around, um, and things like that.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: So um started going home, and then, but I was still caught up in this idea of works.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Okay, if I just don't drink, then I'm good.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: So back in that mentality that I was already in beforehand, which still was not was not was not right.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Um and by the end of the school year, I moved out of my dorm and I decided I'm not gonna go back to IU.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Um, it it just wasn't it wasn't good for me, so I'm not gonna go back.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: So um I decided to try to look for different schools to go to.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Um, I could it was too late for me to transfer anywhere for the upcoming semester in the fall.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: The Lord was very intentional about that timing though.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I was still stuck in this um almost comparison of my life didn't look like everybody else's anymore.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: And everyone goes to a university for four years, it's the best four years of their life, and it's so much fun, and I just didn't feel that way.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Um, but I was stuck in what people would think about me, and I was stuck in this mentality of like I have to do what everybody else is doing.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: So I was um really struggling then with control um of my life, and um so I was making all these plans for myself of where to go to school, visiting schools on the weekend.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: I would I decide I went back to IU and would visit my friends and um would still occasionally go out and get drunk or go to Purdue or go to Ball State and just bounce around um thinking, oh well I just got drunk one time, you know, out of a few months, so I'm good, you know, um very lukewarm.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: I was so lukewarm in my faith.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I chose when it was convenient for me to love the Lord, and I chose when um I didn't want to follow him.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was completely led by my flesh.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: So I lived that life for about the first year that I was at home until um, and I was doing school online at this point, but I my plans were to eventually transfer somebody else or somewhere else and not be at home anymore until the Lord finally um spoke to me, and he was like, You if you want to be happy, if you actually want that joy that you know I can give you, then you have to give up your life to me.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Um, and that was hard for me because, like I said, I struggle with control, like I struggle with perfection and wanting to just have a hold on everything in my life, having a say in my life of where uh just I I thought that my way was better.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Um, and it it thank you, Jesus, that his way is better and that it did not go the way that I planned because I would not be here um had it been my way.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: So I finally surrendered fully to him and I decided, okay, I have to start living for him because I've been living this lukewarm life where um it's worse to be lukewarm and know that the Lord is good and still not follow him versus just not even knowing at all.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Um so I was living in a very dangerous like spot, really.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: So um once I fully surrendered my life to the Lord, um, it's been this whole sanctification process of learning um what does it really mean to depend on him?
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: What does it really look like to fully surrender your life in all areas?
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: And it took me a while, and I'm still learning.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: I'm literally walking through it right now.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: I um it's going to be like a lifelong process.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Um but after that, I prayed very heavily for community.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Um because I was at home and everybody else was at school.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: I was like, okay, Lord, I need you to bring me some friends.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: I need Christian community because the friends that I want to depend on right now are the friends that um I will fall into temptation with.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: And I loved those friends, and they were they're awesome people, beautiful hearts.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Um, but we were just in different stages of our lives where I knew that my flesh was not strong enough to be around that anymore.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Um so I needed the Lord to deliver me some people, and uh and he did, he delivered me some.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Of the most God-fearing women that I've ever met in my life.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Um, but they were at Purdue at the time, so I was still a lot of my time was on my own by myself.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: Um, but that was also intentional because the Lord was like, You need to be friends with me first.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Um, and so that's what we did.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: I became, I just learned how to um be friends with Jesus, and um, which was the best decision of my life, but um he put on my heart that he was preparing me for something um a little over a year ago, and honestly, I would have told you, oh yeah, he's gonna bring me like a Bible study, and it's gonna be so great because I'm gonna love the girl so much, and there's so much fruit in that, and that is so awesome, but that is just a testament to how we cannot even like think the way that the Lord thinks, and his ways are higher and his thoughts are higher, um, and he will do immeasurably more than we could ask, think, or imagine.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: And so I'm just like, okay, Lord, I'm just waiting for you to bring me my people, like you know, whatever that looks like.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: Um, I literally just wanted like a few friends, and that's that's it.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: Um, and I I was praying on it for so long, and um, I knew that I was in just this waiting, this waiting season.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: And then in December of this past year, so so December 24, um the Lord was like, something is coming, and I want you to have the eyes to see it because I'm I'm going to give you what you've been praying for.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, there's plenty of things I was praying for, so I was like, oh Lord, what is it gonna be?
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Like, you know.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and then one of my um co-workers that I was working with at the time, she showed me Run with Christ Instagram page.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Um, Run with Christ was started in Columbus almost a year ago.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: It's coming up on a year.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Um, it was yeah, it was started in Columbus by Will Geringer, awesome guy.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and it was just this run club and a Christian run club, and she was like, Bella, I think you would really enjoy this.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: It's something that um you'd be into.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: I love health and fitness, um, and I love Jesus.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: So I was like, yeah, I mean, that's cool.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Um, I would never do that, but I would go to it.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Like, that would be cool.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: Um, and after that, the Lord kept putting Run with Christ on my heart.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: And at the time, I the Lord was still trying to teach me about myself and getting out of my comfort zone because I used to be an anxious mess, lots of fear of man, could not speak to anybody, like could not speak to anybody.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: I was um just sick to my stomach going into school, um even ordering at restaurants, like anywhere.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: I could not speak to anybody.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Um, it it just made me so scared for whatever reason.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: So I was like, Lord, I cannot do this.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: Like, I can't even talk to anybody.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: You want me to like what?
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: So um, but the Lord kept putting it on my heart, and I with Run with Christ, that's where I feel like I started to fully feel his presence.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: So in this overwhelming way, where I knew that I was going to be disobedient if I said no to him.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: So reached out to their main page and um got on a call with one of their female leaders, and she was like, This is how you get it started, and was like, just go, go do it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: And I was so scared.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: I was in this mentality of how am I gonna do it?
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: How am I gonna get people?
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not equipped for this.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: And the Lord quickly convicted me of, yeah, you're not going to do it.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna work through you.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: He will bring the people, he will bring the leaders, um, and I just have to say yes to him.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: So that was like the first moment where I learned the importance of a yes.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and I got thrown into a group chat where a few leaders in Columbus were like, all right, Bella, let's get this started.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I'm scared.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and I honestly I didn't want to do it.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: Um, I didn't have any accountability around me.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: I've been walking, you know, through this journey with my health recently over the past few years, where I deal with a lot of chronic fatigue.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and I just a season of exhaustion, and I was like, how am I gonna do this?
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: I just don't think that I can.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I was depending on my own strength at that time.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: And they there were a few other people that they put in the group chat who were interested in Indy, um, doing Run with Christ and Indy, but they ended up never responding in the group chat.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: Um, but Addie was one of those people that got added to the group chat, and she did respond.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's where we met.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: A lot of people think Addy and I are childhood best friends, uh, and we're not.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: We met literally just a few months ago.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: Uh, we're best friends now, thank you, Jesus.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Like you literally delivered me the best friend that I could have ever asked for.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but she was one of the people that responded.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: So reached out to her.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: I was like, let's just grab coffee.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Like, let's like, I need to talk to somebody about what has been on my heart.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Um, and we sit down um the first time that we met, and we shared the same vision for Run with Christ of what God put on our hearts.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: And I was like, wow, this is so cool! Like the Lord is really working here.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but it was then after that months of nothing.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: We didn't, we didn't do a single thing.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: We were very eager at first, where we wanted to just jump the gun.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: We were thinking about launching Run with Christ Indy like three weeks after we met, yeah, which is crazy.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: Um, and because we were just like, let's do it, like let's go.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: But again, we thought it was in our hands, and that's where that came from, and so then um we we realized that the Lord was like, you need to sit and just pray.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And when I tell you to go, that's when you'll go.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Um so we pushed back our launch date probably like five times because we kept making a date.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, the Lord kept saying, no, not yet.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: Just be patient, be still.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Um, and then eventually he told us to go after a lot of refinement, sanctification, learning to depend on him, and um, he had to teach us that this was not about us, this was not our run club, we are not the faces of Run with Christ, Indy.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: Um we are literally servants of the Lord, and he had to teach us that before we walked into it.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'm so thankful that he did, um, or else it could really like get to your head and become your identity, and it's not our identity, um, it's just something that we're a part of.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, that led us into our season of leadership, and um that's how I got here to run with Christ.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: And before I would love for you to share your testimony and your story before we talk more about leadership, yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_07: But yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 29:36SPEAKER_07: That was great.
- 29:37SPEAKER_07: And for for the first time being on a podcast, you did a great job of bringing it back around as well.
- 29:44SPEAKER_07: Um, but yeah, ultimately, I mean you think about who's the greatest leader of all time, Jesus Christ.
- 29:49SPEAKER_07: He never sought to go out.
- 29:51SPEAKER_07: Oh, I'm gonna I want to be a leader.
- 29:54SPEAKER_07: He sought to go and be a servant, yeah.
- 29:57SPEAKER_07: Even though he is God.
- 30:00SPEAKER_07: That is leadership, and he is the greatest leader of all time.
- 30:04SPEAKER_07: So with that said, yeah, Addy, you're I I maybe I'm wrong.
- 30:10SPEAKER_07: You're you're I I'm assuming you're not perfect.
- 30:13SPEAKER_07: You you don't have you have maybe maybe a thing here or there that the Lord's walked you through, that he's uh developed you through, that he's refined you through.
- 30:20SPEAKER_07: Would love to hear your testimony, your story.
- 30:23SPEAKER_07: Um and yeah.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, no, I went through 22 years of my life not knowing the Lord, and I'm 24 now.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: So I didn't know the Lord until two years ago.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: Um didn't grow up in the church, didn't even grow up a believer, was really never introduced to the Lord, never owned a Bible.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: Um my parents and my I'm the youngest of my siblings, they grew up like in a Catholic school, and they were in the Catholic church for a little bit, but once we moved, whenever I was in kindergarten, we moved to public schools and then like got into sports and then churches kind of fell out of the picture.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: So I never knew like what a relationship with Jesus was like, what walking with Jesus was like for 22 years of my life.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: I lived the most worldly life in middle school, high school, up until my senior year of college, and I thought like that's just what life was.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Like thought that that was normal.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: Um junior year, I got introduced.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: Well, I went to Marion and they're a Catholic college, played soccer there, and we had to go to mass for soccer, and it was just something we had to do.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: I sat in there and I honestly just admired the church.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: Like I thought the church was pretty, but I never listened.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: I didn't think it applied to me.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: I didn't think it was important.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: Like I I didn't want to be in a church.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: I couldn't care less because I like knew that that was I thought I was gonna have to give up a lot.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: I didn't want to give up my party life.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: I didn't want to give up my relationships that I was in.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: There's sexual sin involved.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: Like I I was content with living in the world.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: And then junior year I moved in with a roommate and just a blessing from the Lord.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: She knew the Lord, I didn't.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: Um we would I after playing college soccer games, we'd go out and I would come into her room and be like, Alright, let's go out to the bars.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Let's go, because that's what I live for, was going to the bars.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: And she would be on her bed every single weekend reading her Bible.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: And I'd walk in, I'm like, let's go.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: And she's like, No, I'm staying in tonight with the Lord.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, what?
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: Like, that's so boring.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: And I'd close the door, roll my eyes, and I'm like, she's living such a boring life.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: And I'd go out to the bars, do my thing, but she never shamed me, she never forced me to know the Lord.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: But she planted those seeds just by being so joyful and content with her life.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and just I know that she prayed for me behind closed doors, and prayer is just so powerful.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: Um, I get a text from her one night, and she it just like super random.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: She's like, Hey, I think the Lord is chasing you down, and you should let him in.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Yeah, okay, great.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: I know that he's like, What do you mean he's chasing me down?
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: And didn't really think much of it.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Weeks go by, um, I'm out at the bars, it's like the end of my junior year, and I had way too much to drink.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: I was in a relationship at the time, got in a fight with my ex at the bar.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: Um, it's pouring down rain out.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: I live in an apartment downtown.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: I literally try and walk to that apartment by myself.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: And who was my boyfriend at the time, he like didn't let me.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: We walked home together, neither of us were sober whatsoever.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: We're fighting.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: The things I said to him, I don't even remember because I was so drunk, but I know that it was just disgusting, it was nasty, it was mean.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: It was not me at all.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Um, just like the enemy had complete control of me.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: And we like get back to my apartment and we make up with sex, of course.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: And just like that's just like my that was my breaking point.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: That's where the Lord just he allowed it.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: But I'm thankful that he allowed it.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Because I woke up the next morning and I looked at him and I was I looked at my ex and I was like, I want to know the Lord.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: I cannot keep living like this.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: And um, he's like, okay, great.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: Buys me my first Bible.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: I didn't even know who the father was, I didn't know who the son was, I didn't know who the Holy Spirit was.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: He's like, what do you want to know?
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: And I was like, the basic, like that's the basic, right?
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't even know what those are.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm so confused, I can't even wrap my brain around it.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: And he kind of explains that to me.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: And I just literally, it's this Bible, and I just start getting into the word, and I just start reading it, and I just hear the Lord speaking to me, and um I it always just blows me away because whenever you first like start to know the Lord, that's whenever He makes himself so known to you and like so clear, and I just clearly start hearing from him, and I'm still with um my boyfriend at the time.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: I ended up having to surrender soccer going into my senior year, retoured my ACL.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: Um, I surrender soccer, all my roommates move out because they graduated.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: I was living alone in an apartment, just like he's the Lord just slowly starts like stripping me of everything.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: And it was hard.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Um but I still pursue him.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Started going to church on my own, listening to sermons, reading the Bible, and it's like every single time I went to a sermon or was reading my Bible, I just kept hearing the Lord say surrender or like give up your life for a new one.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: And I'm just trying to fight it, and I don't didn't know what it meant.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: I was like, I am surrendered, like I'm reading the Bible.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: What do you mean, Lord?
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Like, I am like that I'm doing it right.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Um and he's like, Yeah, but you're also still in this relationship in sexual sin, you're still holding on to this relationship, and I I fought it, I didn't want to give up that relationship.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I started reading this book called Outdated, and have you read it?
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: I just read it this week by JP, it's literally amazing, yeah.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Just talks about like Christian dating and like what it looks like just to be like be living in God's will for your life.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: And I'm like sitting by my pool reading it, tears are rolling down my face, the book is still covered in tears, and I just so clearly hear the Lord say, Go break up with him.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: And that was like my first moment of complete surrender and hearing the Lord so clearly because I thought I was gonna get married to him, and I thought like that was my person, and that was my first like actual act of obedience because it was so clear that he spoke it to me, I had to answer, and I was like, Okay, Lord, I'll go break up with him.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: So I go up, um I go back to India, I was back home during this time, and I was like, hey, we need to talk and talk to him, and I'm like, we need like it's just not gonna work out anymore.
- 37:15SPEAKER_01: And I thought I was gonna be a wreck and was never gonna be able to do that, but like the peace that I had from the Lord while doing it was just unlike anything else.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Um so I broke up with him and it wasn't easy.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: I had the peace, but it wasn't easy after that.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: I literally like went through an eating disorder for a month and a half.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: I was in like suck that was just my ballet.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: I didn't have soccer going into a senior year.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: I was isolated because my roommates had moved out.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: I didn't have my boyfriend anymore.
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: I was so alone, but I still had the Lord and I still felt him chasing me down so hard.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: And that like it was so hard.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: But and it's weird to say it, but like I would go back to that if I knew it's where I would be today.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: Like that moment completely changed my life, that summer completely changed my life, and it was so hard, but I'm so grateful for that valley, which is just wild to say looking back, but like he just has to strip you in order to change your life, and you have to get to a moment of full surrender in order for him to change your life, and that's just obedience.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: And I just like it wasn't easy, I still um would fall back into sin.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: I still would want to go out to the bars and drink.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: I see went into senior year not playing college soccer, so I thought, oh, perfect, more time for me to drink.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: No, more time for me to be with the Lord.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: Um I lived in a house with three other girls that were on the team.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: We were the party house my senior year.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: So I was like in my lukewarm Christian era, I guess you could say.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: And um finally one night the Lord is like, No, you're done.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: You're done being a lukewarm Christian, and I just felt it coming, and I was like, okay, Lord, like, so I can't, you don't want me to like go out and party anymore and know you, and he's like, No, like you can't, and that's just but he has so much grace.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: Like, yes, I surrendered everything to him, but I kept backsliding.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: But even though I was backsliding, the Lord still had so much grace, and I felt shame at times, but then he would come and like, no, there's no shame, there's no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: And finally, I'm just sitting in church one day after, like, I just know the Lord is like, no, stop being lukewarm, stop having one foot in, one foot out, stop going out, stop drinking, like, actually give me your life.
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: I'm sitting in church, it's a Sunday, we get to the end of the sermon, and the pastor he's like, Alright, so now we're actually gonna do spontaneous baptisms.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: I didn't think about it.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: I literally get up, grab my friend, I'm like, come with me, and I'm literally getting baptized, next thing I know.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: And my family didn't know I was getting baptized, my friends didn't know I was getting baptized, but like I felt it.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: I knew that like the Lord was chasing me down, just like my roommate a year ago had texted me, the Lord is chasing you down, please let him in.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: And I get baptized, and that kind of just changed everything for me.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Like I was like, Yeah, I've been made new.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: Like, thank you, Jesus.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Um and then I joined, started getting involved in my church, started getting involved in community because I'm still a senior in college living in a party house.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: Like, that's hard, and I know there's so many people that go through that, but I had to go find my community, and I was in my rooted group with Traders Point.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Um they we met every single Tuesday, and then I just started like the Lord, because I was in my various prayers.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: I was like, Lord, bring me community then.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: Like this is hard because we're not supposed to be isolated, and he just brought me my community, and then rooted was over, but my Bible study was still kind of meeting, and then I just felt the Lord, like I thought that he put something on my heart.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: Uh I met up with a friend, and I was like, okay, now that rooted's over, I think I want to start like a run club slash Bible study.
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: This is a year and a half ago.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: Um, and I like meet up and I'm like pitching her all these ideas, and then after that night's over, nothing came to fruition.
- 41:33SPEAKER_01: I didn't even mention doing a run club Bible study again.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: And then you fast forward a year this past January, and I was up at a Unite event helping with baptisms of college students at Purdue, and just like talking to those college students of like just seeing myself, like my past self in that.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: Like they're hurt.
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: One girl comes up to me and she's like, every single night, like I she's in a sorority, and she's like, everything's I'm so happy in a sorority girl, but I'm in my closet tearing my hair out every single night.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: Like people don't know this, but like there has to be something more, and she ended up giving her life to the Lord that night, and just so many stories like that of broken college girls and guys.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: I was like, that was one to me.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Lord, how like use me, use me to get people to see that there is something more and that there is a community out there driving home and he just puts it on my heart again, and he's like, Okay, but how about like that run club?
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, I'm really busy.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: Like I'm I'm in grad school now.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm a little bit busy for that Lord, because I knew what Run with Christ was.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: Um I think I followed Will Geringer on Instagram and the original Run with Christ page, and I was like, okay, kind of like praying on it.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: And then one night I'm like sitting in bed, and Will had put on his Instagram story of where all they have Run with Christ locations.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: There was not one in Indiana yet.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, I'll just slide up and say, I'm gonna bring one to Indiana, or I want to bring one to Indiana, and so I slide up, didn't know if he was gonna answer, and I'm like, I want to bring one to Indiana, and he's like, We're doing it.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: And he is like, What's your number?
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Give him my number.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: He adds me to the group chat um that Bella was in, and I just had the same feelings as Bella.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: I was like, we didn't know each other yet, but I was like, How am I gonna start this?
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm so busy, Lord, like how am I gonna do this?
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: And then he adds me that group chat, and it's like it's not you.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: It's not just gonna be you doing it, it's gonna be me doing it.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: And just like that was just like confirmation being in that.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: And then Bella reached out and we went and got coffee and just our visions were the exact same.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: And he placed Run with Christ on our hearts within the same week.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: He could have done it a year ago.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: But he placed it on our hearts within the same week.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: Because he was preparing us for something so much bigger.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Something bigger than ourselves.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: And it's just the obedience.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: Like I look back on my story and it's just every act of obedience and trusting him.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Even in the valley, trusting him.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Trusting that he's still good.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: And he just completely changed my life in two years.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: Like my prayers that people look at me and they're like, How?
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: Like people that knew me from my before Christ addy, that they look at me and they're like, How?
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: And they know that it's only Jesus.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Like how within two two years am I living?
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: Two years ago I'm living in sexual sin.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: I'm living for the world.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: I idolize soccer.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: Like I idolized a relationship I was in.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: And now I find my comfort in Jesus, my identity in Jesus within two years.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: I I'm now a bat roommate that's staying in on the weekends.
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: That is just one like I look forward to the weekends to be in the long time with the Father.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: To sit in my bed and read my Bible.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: Whenever two years ago I was rolling my eyes and closing the door and saying that life is boring.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: And now no.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: Like that life is this life is not boring.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: I've never felt so much joy, peace, and happiness in my life before.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: And it's all just within two years because of full surrender and knowing that there's no shame.
- 45:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 45:21unknown: Yeah.
- 45:24SPEAKER_07: That's hard to follow.
- 45:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 45:28SPEAKER_07: But that was beautiful.
- 45:29SPEAKER_07: You guys both have beautiful testimonies.
- 45:32SPEAKER_07: And one of the things that really stuck out to me is the fact that it seems like even from the beginning of your journeys, the Lord spoke to you.
- 45:42SPEAKER_07: You didn't necessarily want to listen at first, but He really spoke to you.
- 45:49SPEAKER_07: And he really kept nudging, like he kept knocking, right?
- 45:53SPEAKER_07: A lot of people they have that from outside influence, like outside biblical influence, um, but they don't have the Lord speaking to them directly for some time.
- 46:04SPEAKER_07: And so the way that he's led you both to a ministry where most of the people there are young adults and probably are walking through, have walked through similar testimonies and the opportunity that you guys now have to minister to people just like you were.
- 46:28SPEAKER_07: Um it's beautiful to see.
- 46:31SPEAKER_07: Do you guys want to take a quick break?
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah, welcome back to the Reborn Podcast.
- 46:36SPEAKER_07: We just had a quick little break.
- 46:38SPEAKER_07: Um very spiritual moment.
- 46:40SPEAKER_07: So uh Bella adding, I think you guys were uh yapping if you would like to continue.
- 46:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we were, and why'd I say that like it was ASMR?
- 46:49SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the new Reborn Podcast.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: Um, anyways, yeah, we were talking about how um when we like first got into Run with Christ, um, and this is why it's so important to have accountability partners and do life with people, because when you do life alone, it is a lot easier to just go based off of your feelings, your flesh, and what the enemy is telling you.
- 47:11SPEAKER_00: Um, I literally didn't want to do Run with Christ because I knew I was going to have to speak in front of people.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: And thank you, Jesus, for one, Addie.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: Um, she, even though we didn't even really talk about that, but she just was like the Lord brought her in my life and I didn't want to let her down.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: I don't think I've ever told you that.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: I didn't want to let her down and I wanted to show up for her, and I wanted to make sure I was um like doing my part.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: Um, so I literally wanted to not do Run with Christ just because I knew I would have to speak, which is insane because now the Lord has literally delivered me from anxiousness, from speaking in front of people, like I have no issue anymore, I don't get anxious anymore.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: Um, and I would have never ever expected that.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: I was the kid in school that would literally delete my presentation right before I was about to present it so that I didn't have to.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: Um any excuse in the book to not speak, that's I like I've done it.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: Um literally used to like guys, I literally used to put a thermometer under like hot water like before school, so I didn't have to go to school.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: So my mom thought I was sick, like I was so anxious, and I tried to get out of everything because I had the worst fear of man.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: Um, so in looking back, it was something so small, and it took over my life for so long, most of my life.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Um, and now it's like if you literally just say yes to the Lord, he will do so much with a yes, and he will like he has just transformed like the way that I look at life, the way that I feel, the way that I can step into things with confidence because I know that like I depend on his strength, not mine.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: Um, because without him there is no strength.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, like we literally both don't like public speaking, or we didn't.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: Um not saying we love it, but the Lord is like growing us and teaching us that um being uncomfortable is actually good.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: It's a good thing.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: Um and it's important because that's what like grows us.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: If you're just comfortable in your walk, you're not gonna it's not gonna be good.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: You shouldn't be comfortable.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: You should always be um stepping into what the Lord is calling you to do, um, which most of the time is not going to be easy.
- 49:44SPEAKER_07: And not gonna be what you want to do.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, exactly.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: It always replays in the back of my head.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: I think I was literally on Sadie Robertson's podcast.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: She was talking about Sadie Robertson.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: She has like a Christian podcast, so good.
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: Um, but she uh said five minutes of uncomfortability will save you a lifetime of regret.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, yeah, it's good.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: You're right.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's good.
- 50:09SPEAKER_07: Audience of one.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:13SPEAKER_07: Doesn't matter how many you're in a crowd, it's an audience of one.
- 50:16SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 50:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:17SPEAKER_07: It's really cool to hear you guys say that because Adam, our good mutual friend.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: We love Adam so much.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: Shout out Adam.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: Shout out Adam.
- 50:28SPEAKER_07: Trying to get him on the podcast.
- 50:30SPEAKER_07: So Adam this morning was so unorganized if it weren't for Adam.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: Literally, he's such a blessing.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: Thank you for Adam.
- 50:38SPEAKER_07: One of my best friends, kind of discipling me, great guy.
- 50:43SPEAKER_07: Um, he was telling me that you know, oftentimes it's gonna be the people who don't want to speak that are speaking.
- 50:52SPEAKER_07: And the people who want to speak oftentimes should not speak.
- 50:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and so you guys have had the opportunity to really share your testimonies, and it's been beautiful, and that's been really inspiring to see.
- 51:09SPEAKER_07: I'm the type I so my testimony is actually very, very, very dissimilar to yours.
- 51:15SPEAKER_07: Not exactly, but very similar, um, with the fear of man and anxiety and everything.
- 51:21SPEAKER_07: But since then, I've loved public speaking.
- 51:25SPEAKER_07: And I remember the first worship night we had, I think.
- 51:30SPEAKER_07: I instead instead of me speaking, it was go upstairs and push a button.
- 51:38SPEAKER_07: And that helped with surrender because that I I'm an entrepreneur, I see myself as a leader that I see the bigger picture and I'm able to empower other people to go and do the thing, versus clicking a button.
- 51:59SPEAKER_07: And like at that time, I was also looking at hiring overseas somebody to literally click a button for$2 an hour, which overseas that's like a lot more money than it is here.
- 52:11SPEAKER_07: So the Lord knows what each of us need.
- 52:15SPEAKER_07: He knows that you guys is guys, guys, guys, guys needed to speak, and I needed to push a button.
- 52:25SPEAKER_07: And he's working in ways that can't even be comprehended.
- 52:31SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 52:34SPEAKER_07: So with that said, RWC.
- 52:38SPEAKER_07: Talk to me.
- 52:39SPEAKER_07: What what what is RWC?
- 52:41SPEAKER_07: And actually, no, you know what?
- 52:42SPEAKER_07: Before that, before that, I I have one question for each of you.
- 52:48SPEAKER_07: And because similar, similar journeys, I feel like, in the sense of going into the world, coming out of the world, lukewarm, and then on fire and being used in the way you're now being used.
- 53:01SPEAKER_07: Talk to me about that moment of surrender, of complete, full surrender, when you were lukewarm going into that place of being blazing hot on fire for the Lord.
- 53:17SPEAKER_07: What did you have to surrender?
- 53:18SPEAKER_07: What did you have to die to?
- 53:20SPEAKER_07: What what what did that feel like?
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: And you have tissue, so um, literally everything.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: Um I had to surrender my whole entire life.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: Um gosh, like, where do I even begin?
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Um I think Addie, you mentioned this earlier.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: You thought walking into a relationship with the Lord, you have to give up so much, and you don't want to give up so much.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: But um you we like I literally had to die to myself so that the Lord could give me new life.
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: And um for me, that was in a moment where my full surrender came from.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: Um, because you know, I walked into in a lot of seasons of I'm all in, now I'm lukewarm.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: All in, lukewarm, back and forth, back and forth.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was so tired of living that way because it brought me so much hurt.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: Because I when I was in these seasons of lukewarmness, I would look back and I was like, why did I like just let myself stumble again?
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: And instead of when I would stumble, which we're always going to, I just let it all go.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: I wasn't like, okay, Lord, like help me to depend on you.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm falling into this, let me let me lean into you even more.
- 54:43SPEAKER_00: I was like, I just went back.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was in a relationship.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: Um, it was now it's been like a well over a year, but the Lord, I was in a very worldly relationship with someone who wasn't even really a believer.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: Um, and he was so kind to me, all of those things, like um, I thought it was a good relationship, and it's not necessarily that it wasn't.
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: The Lord was not in the center at all, and it led me to lots of um just sin.
- 55:19SPEAKER_00: And um, it honestly was the most broken I'd ever been in my whole life.
- 55:23SPEAKER_00: Um, I had never felt this type of brokenness before, to where my heart literally hurt, um, and I my emotions fell out of control.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: I didn't know how to handle all that I was feeling.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: It was literally like the weight of the world was on my shoulders.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: Um, and the Lord called me to let go of that relationship, and um, it was the hardest decision I think I've ever made, like to this day.
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: Um, just because there was lots of chains um in that relationship where I found a lot of my identity in it.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: Um, there was just lots of um, yeah, like bondage and stuff like that.
- 56:06SPEAKER_00: Um, so when the Lord called me out of it, once I finally surrendered it, it literally took me months to surrender it.
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: I just was not listening to the Lord.
- 56:16SPEAKER_00: Like I knew what he wanted me to do, and I didn't do it.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: Um, I found myself the most broken I'd ever been.
- 56:25SPEAKER_00: Um and I was literally on my knees just weeping, calling out to the Lord, like I need you to show up for me right now because I can't even like I can't stand another second of what my heart feels like because I like I I was I was losing it, guys.
- 56:48SPEAKER_00: Like it was so hard for me.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: Um and I literally felt the tangible presence of God in that moment where He didn't need me to just show up and be perfect and like be like, oh Lord, like I'm trusting you, like I know you have a plan.
- 57:07SPEAKER_00: I knew all those things, and I did I did pray those prayers, but then I realized I was trying to literally put up a facade in front of Jesus.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm sorry, he sees right through that.
- 57:19SPEAKER_00: He knows, he knows my heart, he knows the desires of my heart, he knew what I was feeling, he knows every hair on my head, he knows everything.
- 57:30SPEAKER_00: So, why was I going before the Lord and putting up this facade of I trust your plan, whatever you say, when he was like, You're lying, you don't trust my plan.
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: Um, but I was in this this space, I was literally afraid to offend the Lord, where I thought that if I went in in prayer and I was like, Lord, I'm mad at you, I'm upset, like I don't understand this, that he would be upset with me.
- 57:56SPEAKER_00: But I got to this breaking point where I was in the deepest valley of my life.
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: Um, and I like let all of that like facade go where I just cried out to him in like the most heartbreaking way that I have ever cried out to him, and I literally felt his tangible presence on my shoulder.
- 58:20SPEAKER_00: Um and I've only shared this story a few times, um, but because I cried out to him, I said, Lord, I need to feel your hand on my life right now, like I need it right this second, and I just kind of was like, I need it, like, I need peace, you know, that kind of thing.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: But I literally felt pressure on my shoulder in that moment, and I had this wave of peace that came over me, the tears were gone, I was calm, and like it was the most overwhelming, beautiful feeling I had ever felt in my whole life, and you mentioned this earlier, like when you first when you really dive in with the Lord, that you know, he's always there, but he he's so kind to us when we fully dive in because he makes himself known.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: And he made himself known to me that in that moment.
- 59:21SPEAKER_00: Um, and there's just been a fire ever since then.
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: Um, that doesn't mean it's not like there are some days that it's a little dimmer.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: Um it's walking with the Lord is not always easy because you have to depend on him and not what you want, and it's really hard.
- 59:40SPEAKER_00: Um, it's really, really hard.
- 59:43SPEAKER_00: But um for me, that fire literally never um it's never left since then.
- 59:51SPEAKER_00: And I just learned that like your ways are better, Lord.
- 59:54SPEAKER_00: Like um, these things that I wouldn't give up, now I'm like, okay, but he replaced them with so much more, with this like abundance of peace and joy.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_00: And like I don't have anxiousness anymore, and I don't deal with all of these things that I did.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: And like he just like took away the temptation of like getting drunk and like um just worldly temptations that like thank you, Jesus, because it's not always like and it's not always gonna be like that.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_00: Of course, there were temptations that I had where um they weren't as easy.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and like the Lord like just had to like I just had to work with him through that.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_00: Um but he he just wants your surrender, he just wants you to be like, okay, Lord, like yes.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_07: Fear.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_07: You mentioned the fear of the Lord, and we know that we are called to have holy fear.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_07: But the fear that you mentioned originally having was not holy fear.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_07: How have you navigated from kind of maybe even that fear of man manifested into an unholy fear of God into now fearing the Lord with holy fear?
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so that's a really good question, actually.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, I had that fear of man um where he bless you.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I had fear of man where um, and I don't really know even where that stems from.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_00: It's something I'm still like um trying to like learn with the Lord of like, okay, reveal to me these things so that um you know I just know where it come it came from.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_00: But yeah, lots of fear of man.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: Um I think it definitely stems from my perfectionism or um deal struggling with perfectionism.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_00: Um and so yeah, there was the fear of man, and then when I was walking with the Lord, then it was this, I think you said this unholy fear where um I had this fear where, and it was just weird because I know the Lord's heart.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_00: I knew that like he was not gonna be mad at me if I came to him and was like, I don't understand what you're doing, Lord.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_00: Like he's like, Yeah, of course not, like you're not supposed to, but um I had this like misconception that I think I just put on myself of I just want to be my best for him, yeah.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_00: Where he just wants us to come as we are.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: Um, so then that turned into really that moment, that encounter that I had with the Lord that I'm so just thankful for.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_00: Um I really realized that like fearing the Lord was like I never want to be apart from you ever again.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: Jesus.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_00: And that's where like my like fear of the Lord comes from, is like He is so good, and I never want to forget how broken that I was.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_00: I never want to get so comfortable in my walk to where I forget like how deep in the valley I was.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_00: I was in the depths of the valley, and it was so hard.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, it was it was miserable, but it was literally my choice most of it.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_00: I put myself in that because the Lord, all along, I look back at my life, all along the Lord has been there.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_00: The Lord was convicting me, like the Lord was trying, like guiding me.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: And I'm so thankful for my story because it's led me to this right now.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_00: Um, but he has been there all along.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: It just was a matter of me noticing him.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: Because before I just I just didn't, I was wrapped up in my flesh, my emotions, what I wanted, pleasures, all of those things.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_00: And once the Lord, I mean the Lord finally was like, no, I'm making myself known to you.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_00: Like I'm chasing after you, and you're gonna listen to me this time.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_00: Um, because I can be a little stubborn.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_00: Um, and the Lord was like, No, you're you're gonna follow me.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that's kind of where I think the idea or like stepping into being God-fearing came from, is I was like, yeah, I never want to be apart from you ever again, because I know what that was like, but I've also felt your goodness.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_00: I have felt his um, he saved me.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I am not the person that I was anymore.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_00: He literally made me new in his image.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and I never want to ever, ever go back to that, and I won't, but um yeah, that's kind of that's where that's how it happened for me.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_07: Holy feared.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_07: You think about man fear of man, you fear a man, you want to never talk to anybody.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_07: You don't want to talk to man because you are afraid of what man will think about you.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_07: Yep, so you fear God, and you never want to stop talking to him.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_07: Yes, it's the complete opposite.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_07: You you fear God, and in a sense, you fear not the world, but being in the world because you know the promises and the fruits that he provides that only are found in him.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_07: He is the truth, the way, and the life.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_07: Yeah, no one may come to the Father except through him.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_07: So holy fear.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, also fear of man is something that the Lord taught.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: Me also, and he was taking me outside of, or he was like, You're not gonna have this anymore, you're not having fear of man anymore.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_00: Um, is he put on my heart like Bella?
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_00: You are looking for acceptance from all of these people, you just want people to.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_00: I've always struggled with it, wasn't necessarily that I wanted people to like me, but I wanted them to know my heart.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_00: Um, and but that's not for everybody to know, and that's okay.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_00: But I struggled with that because I just wanted people to understand me.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: Um, and I felt very misunderstood a lot of my life.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_00: Um, but the Lord was like, Bella, you are looking for acceptance from a world that literally crucified me.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_00: A perfect man, the only perfect man to ever walk the earth, he was he was killed up on the cross.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: So why in the world would I be looking for acceptance and thinking that I'm going to get all of that when um look what they did to Jesus?
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_00: And that was like, whoa, that set me free because I was like, yeah, you know what, I just have to fix my eyes on him because there there will never, there's always going to be someone that doesn't like me, that doesn't um accept me or understand my heart or agree with me, and that is okay.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_00: That is okay because my father does, and my father loves me, and that's where my identity comes from, and he um I am made in his image, and that's that's when my fear of man left me, is when the Lord put that on my heart.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_07: Do you want to be accepted by man or by God?
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's a simple, simple but profound decision to make, and can be hard to make that decision, but once you look back, it's like what was I doing again?
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_07: So Addy.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_07: Lukewarm to blazing hot on fire for the Lord.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_07: Walk me through the emotions, what had to die, what what what were the feelings there?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_01: Um what had to die first immediately was the fear of man, and I had to find the fear of the Lord.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_01: Because in today's world, every like it's normalized to drink all the time.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_01: Not all the time, but like if you go out to get a drink.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_01: It's normalized listening to secular music whenever you're at the gym.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_01: Um, it's normalized not dressing modest.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_01: And I had to get rid of that fear of man in order to actually walk in the will that God had for my life.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_07: You still have great style, by the way.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Tony.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_01: She does the Lord.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: Yes, she does.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_01: What did I say?
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_01: Modest is modest.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_00: Modest is modest.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_01: But and just getting rid of the fear of man to walk in the will that the Lord had for my life.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_01: Because after I got baptized, like I shared my testimony earlier, it's not like I came out of the water and I was living in exactly how the Lord had planned for me.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_01: Over time, it was just like a slow burn of him sanctifying me and stripping me and convicting me and showing me what I was doing wrong.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_01: Because at first I thought, oh yeah, I can go out to the bars and just have one drink, like I'm not getting drunk.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that for some people, but for me, that was where the devil had a foothold in my life.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_01: Me going out to the bars, getting drunk, and what was playing at the bars, secular music.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_01: So then the Lord convicts me and was like, you need to stop listening to secular music too.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_01: Because if I hear that, like while I'm working out at the gym, I think about me being at the bar, and then that just gives the devil a foothold.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_01: And he's like, He's like, Okay, now you wanna you hear this music, that makes me want to go out and drink again.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: So then it turned into me going to the gym, listening to worship music, which I never thought I'd be able to do, like actually enjoy a workout listening to worship music.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_01: And it's not like it was just overnight I'm like do like I still sin, of course, but it's just like the sin that was hurting my relationship with the Lord the most.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_01: And he was revealing to me, and he was that I don't want to like I fell so deeply in love with the Lord over time that it hurts me to do things that break his heart.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's so good.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_01: Like I don't want to do the things that I know would break his heart, yeah.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_01: And that it was a long process, and it's not easy, and that's where we have to realize that there's just no shame from the Lord, and that he has grace for a reason, but we can't take that grace in vain.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_01: And just like Bella was saying earlier, you have to strip the fear of man because this Christian walk isn't gonna be easy.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_01: Jesus was perfect, yet they mocked him and they crucified him.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: So why am I afraid that I'm gonna be made fun of for no longer going to the bars?
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_01: Why am I afraid I'm gonna be made fun of for dressing modest now?
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_01: Why am I afraid I'm being made fun of for listening to worship music at the gym?
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_01: Like you just have to strip that for your man.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_01: And I literally I was pull it up.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_01: I was reading this morning literally in Matthew, and it talked about the cost of following Jesus.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_01: And the teacher of the law came to him and said, Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_01: And Jesus replied, Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_01: And then another disciple said to him, Lord, first let me go and bury my father.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_01: Like he wanted to follow Jesus, but not yet.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_01: You have to get in the point in your life where you're ready to give up all those things and follow Jesus.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_01: You can't just say, Let me do this first and then I'll follow you, Lord.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_01: Like he knew that he needed to follow the Lord because he knew that's where his happiness was and where his joy was gonna come from, but he said not yet because he wasn't ready to give up the things of the past.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_01: You just truly have to get into that part of your faith journey to where you're ready to give up those things and see that what the Lord has for you is better.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_01: And what he takes away, he's gonna replace tenfold.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_01: Um and it's just talking about how Jesus lives a very simple life.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_01: He lived with no home and always on the move and living by faith.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_01: That's what he means when he says foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: He did not glorify his life.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: And he's being completely honest with this disciple that whenever you follow me, it's not gonna be easy.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_01: He's like, I don't even have a home, I don't have a place to lay my head.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_01: It's not going to be easy, but you have to get in that place where you're just surrendering and you're tired of being a lukewarm Christian.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_01: Because that's whenever you really just start to have a relationship with the Lord.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_00: That's where that fire comes from, too, is like not flirting with sin anymore.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_00: Like we, and I'm sure you like you you mentioned in your story, and I did it too, because that's where like the loop like lukewarmness came from, was um you mentioned okay, going out to dinner and still getting a drink.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_00: Some people that's not some that might not be a temptation for some people, and that's okay.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_00: But like I would, I I would go out and I would still okay, like I can have a drink or two at dinner.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, but where is that leading, Bella?
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_00: Because you struggle with the temptation of getting drunk or um, you know, dealing with sexual sin, but being with people who don't follow the Lord, so that's not something that they are um they're not pursuing purity.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_00: So it's like I'm flirting with this sin because even though I know like this is gonna lead me down a road of temptation, but I'm seeing how far I can get to the line, and that is like that's where you lose it.
- 1:14:25SPEAKER_00: That's where like you, in order to not be a lukewarm Christian, you can't be living on the line, trying to get close to the edge, because you're literally trying to get as close to sin as possible.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_00: But when you have that fire of the Lord within you and you truly fear God, you you want to be so far away from sin.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_00: And we are sinners, like of course, like we we sin and we fall into it, but there's a difference between falling into sin, not on purpose, versus actively choosing a life of sin.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, like yeah, don't don't flirt with sin.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like literally lay it all down at Jesus' feet and pick up your cross and go follow him.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_00: Like that's what he wants us to do.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_00: So you asking us, like, what did it take?
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_00: What did you have to lay down?
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_00: We had to lay down everything.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_00: And it's it's a daily thing because there's going to be more things in your life that come up, more temptations, whether that is like something that you struggled with in the past or something new, or it's a relationship, someone you just met, whatever it might be, you have to learn to get to this point of like, yes, I'm going to face temptations, I'm going to face struggles, um, but God.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_00: But I can depend on the Lord.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_00: I can bring this to Him instead of flirting with this idea that let me just try to get close to it again.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_00: But since I have the Lord, like, oh no, I can I can be strong.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_00: No, our flesh is so weak.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_00: It's it's him who makes us strong.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_00: Um, so you have to just lay all those things down.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_00: Um, and you have to get to that point where you said, like, Lord, like break my heart for what breaks yours.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_01: And it's not overnight.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_01: That doesn't your heart's not just changed overnight, it's a process of getting to know him and getting in his word and knowing what his word says.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_01: Because literally, in Genesis, did God really say?
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_01: And that's how Adam and Eve find the sin.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_01: Did God really say?
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_01: Because they didn't know.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_01: And like that's where it it becomes so important of getting in the word and knowing what God said.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_01: Because the devil will come to still steal, kill, and destroy, and he will twist God's words, and that's where you have to be so strong in your faith and not a low-corn Christian anymore to be able to go against what the devil is saying.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_00: If you're not in your word and you don't know what he says, then when you're not gonna know if it's from the Lord or from the enemy.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: Because he is a deceiver, he is a liar.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_00: He he will get in your head and make you think that those thoughts are yours, or he will twist your thoughts or what he is putting in your head to think, oh, this is a good thing.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_00: This is from the Lord.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_00: Yes, this is from the Lord.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_00: No, if you don't, if you aren't in your word, if you don't know the Lord's uh what he says, you're not gonna be able to like decipher whose voice is who.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_04: Jesus.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's something that I struggled with before.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_00: I didn't.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_00: So I literally was like, oh wow, this is a good thing.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm gonna, this is totally from the Lord.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_00: It's something I've prayed for, but like I wasn't in my word, and the enemy was like, Gotcha, but no, like, yeah, so I'm so glad you brought that up.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_00: Like, it is so important to be in your word and to be able to understand, like, what does his voice sound like?
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_00: And you'll learn that in literally the greatest book ever.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_07: Lukewarm, now on fire for the Lord, but sanctification is a process.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_07: Walk me through today.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_07: What life looks like today.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_07: Is it all sunshine and rainbows?
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_07: Is it perfect?
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_07: Are there no issues at all?
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, or is there absolutely not every day?
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_01: It's just remembering that I have to carry my cross.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_01: Um, and it's just like fighting the temptation of like, even right when my alarm goes off in the morning, like I still struggle at fighting the temptation of like waking up and checking my phone, checking my text, seeing about going about my day and how busy I am, and just living off of a schedule versus waking up and getting in the Lord first and asking God, God, what do you want today to look like?
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_01: Not what do I want it to look like, and just coming to the point where it's like, okay, Lord, if you want me to sit in the quiet place for an hour, I will.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_01: Not versus let me say a quick prayer before I eat my breakfast and go about my day.
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_01: And I wish that I could come on here and be like, yes, every single day I wake up at 5 a.m.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_01: and I get in the secret place for an hour, and then I go to class or then I go start my day.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_01: No, because I have days where my alarm goes off and I'm scrolling through social media, and then I'm getting dressed and rushing off to the gym or off to school.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_01: So it's it's hard, and I wish it was perfect, but I have to start waking up and just coming to a place of Lord, I know that this is what I need.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_01: This is what I need is you because when I'm not in my secret place, I can tell.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_01: I can tell by my attitude if I'm not if I'm not starting my day with the word and letting the Lord control my day, I can tell.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_01: Because I am not the same Addy.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_07: BC.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_01: BC Addy.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_01: She comes out.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_01: If you're not in that secret place and you're letting the Lord fill you, my past self does come out.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_01: It's so real.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_01: It's so important.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_01: Like the importance of the secret place.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_00: Like Yes.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_01: And the enemy does, like, every day you wake up, he tries to keep you out of there.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, wow.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: And it's just like when you go in there, because we live in such like a world now where busyness is just like if you're not busy, you're yeah.
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_01: If you're not busy, you're just you're almost like worthless in this world.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_01: No, but we're called to a life to slow it down.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_01: Like Jesus, he was busy, but he was interruptible.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_01: He went to the secret place with the Lord to pray.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_01: He got away from the busyness to pray.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_01: And it's just knowing that you have to get into your secret place.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_07: So when I was creating this podcast, well, relaunching the podcast, um, I made a code for it.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_07: So I have a code and everything I do, my my like personal health, business, family, etc., and so forth.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_07: And part of it, especially since I was walking through that season of where I felt like the Lord was telling me to go like to go click a button.
- 1:21:24SPEAKER_07: Not be on camera.
- 1:21:28SPEAKER_07: Part of the code is if you have to go to the secret place first thing in the morning, if it before the podcast, at least I always do it first thing in the morning.
- 1:21:38SPEAKER_07: But if you don't, you have to cancel.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_07: It doesn't matter what, like if it's a solo.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_07: Obviously, I don't like want to have to cancel on people, but I will.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_07: Um but it's also more just more accountability to making sure that you do it.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_07: Um but yeah, with that said, sunshine and rainbows, or is there more more to it?
- 1:21:59SPEAKER_00: Oh boy, do I wish.
- 1:22:03SPEAKER_07: Do you do you wish?
- 1:22:05SPEAKER_07: The Lord says that trials trials built perseverance, perseverance, persecution.
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_00: I love I love that verse so much.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_00: Um, I believe it's in Romans 5.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_07: And we will never be tested more than we can handle.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_00: Yes, and also in James um chapter 1, verse 2, it says count it all joy.
- 1:22:21SPEAKER_07: Count it all.
- 1:22:22SPEAKER_00: And I lean on that a lot because Lily, I yeah, I lean on that quite a bit.
- 1:22:29SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, we are supposed to count it all joy, but of course, like I wish that it was sunshine and rainbows, like of course.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_00: Um, but something that I I know is that in trials and tribulations that the Lord just teaches us to depend on him.
- 1:22:45SPEAKER_00: Um and I'm laughing because literally the other day, like literally not too long ago, I was telling Addie, wow, like I'm in this spot in my life where I am like so like the Lord is answering all these prayers for me.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, whoa, like what do I do with this?
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_00: Because I I depended so much on the Lord in these like certain waiting seasons that I was in, and then I felt the Lord pull me out of it, and I was like, wow, thank you, thank you, Jesus, for these blessings.
- 1:23:18SPEAKER_00: Um, answering my prayers, but like, how did I even say it?
- 1:23:22SPEAKER_00: I was like, it's almost this like longing for that season, that season back to depend on him, and then he kind of gave me that season back in a sense, and I was like, I was like, why did I say that?
- 1:23:40SPEAKER_00: But um, but that just shows like the Christian walk is not easy, and it's not always going to be like sunshine and rainbows, and that is okay, and um even when it's hard, and you're like, Lord, I I do not understand this, not a single bit, and you're trying to figure it out for yourself, and you're just trying to understand from every area, whatever perspective it might be, but it's like the Lord has literally just called you to depend on him, yeah, and that is where a lot of sanctification comes from, and just like purifying your heart, uh, and like literally just teaching you to depend on him more and more because you have no choice, you have no choice but to depend on him.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, it's not all perfect, but it's not going to be.
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_00: Um and and that's why like literally the word says like count it all joy because it's not going to be easy.
- 1:24:40SPEAKER_00: It's he doesn't promise this like easy life, but count it all joy because like it does produce strength and character and endurance.
- 1:24:49SPEAKER_00: Um so we should be joyful that we get to walk through those seasons because he is refining us, and even though it's not easy, like it's worth it.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:05SPEAKER_07: So I'm seeing red.
- 1:25:09SPEAKER_07: RWC.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_07: Not seeing red, not I'm not angry.
- 1:25:15SPEAKER_07: I'm seeing red now.
- 1:25:17SPEAKER_07: For those who are listening, not watching.
- 1:25:23SPEAKER_07: RWC.
- 1:25:25SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about it.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:25:27SPEAKER_07: What is it?
- 1:25:28SPEAKER_07: Tell me more.
- 1:25:29SPEAKER_00: Run with Christ.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_00: Run with Christ, baby.
- 1:25:33SPEAKER_00: Do you want to go?
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_00: You have it.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, girl.
- 1:25:37SPEAKER_00: Run with Christ.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_00: Okay, where do I even begin?
- 1:25:41SPEAKER_00: So Run with Christ, I think we mentioned this in the beginning, but Run with Christ was started about a year ago.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_00: Um in Columbus, Ohio.
- 1:25:49SPEAKER_00: Will Garanger is his name.
- 1:25:51SPEAKER_00: Um, Will Garanger started Run with Christ, and it literally just started with one yes.
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_00: The Lord put this on his heart to start a Run Club.
- 1:25:59SPEAKER_00: Um, and the whole idea of Run with Christ, like you'll hear like isolated to integrated, a movement to make heaven full, but like there's there's a lot of weight on like on that because it's true.
- 1:26:12SPEAKER_00: Um, we are bringing people that are isolated to integrated into Christian community.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_00: So the way I like to like, yeah, just explain it to a lot of people is um for those who are lost and don't know what this word says, they might feel shame.
- 1:26:32SPEAKER_00: They probably do feel shame, guilt.
- 1:26:34SPEAKER_00: They think they're too far gone, they think they've done too many things to where they can't go into a church, they won't be accepted, the Lord is mad at them, um, and all of those things, which is not true, it's just not true.
- 1:26:47SPEAKER_00: But right now, those people don't know the Lord, they don't know the word.
- 1:26:51SPEAKER_00: So instead of forcing them, trying to get them into a church, um run clubs are super popular, and but the difference of run with Christ, it's not just a run club because it is literally a Jesus movement.
- 1:27:11SPEAKER_00: And that's where like a movement to make heaven full comes in because the run is the least important part about run with Christ.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, it's something we fun we get to do together, but that's not the mission, it's not to just get a run in.
- 1:27:24SPEAKER_00: Um, and so yeah, a lot of people are more susceptible to saying yes to a run club, that like, yeah, there's energy drinks, there's cold tubs, it's fun, there's like fun Christian music, and those are all great things, and we have a blast.
- 1:27:39SPEAKER_00: Like, it is literally just brought us so much joy.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_00: But that's not the full point.
- 1:27:46SPEAKER_00: The point is to get people there that are lost, that are burdened, that feel shame, and they feel guilt, and they don't know what Christian community looks like, they don't know who Jesus is, and just sharing the Love of Christ first, making them feel loved, loving like Jesus does, going up to somebody and asking their name and asking what their story is, not just, and this is something we're still like trying to learn.
- 1:28:12SPEAKER_00: Like, of course, like we want to go into, hey, where do you go to school?
- 1:28:16SPEAKER_00: What are you studying?
- 1:28:17SPEAKER_00: Those are great questions to know about somebody, but what is your story?
- 1:28:21SPEAKER_00: How does your heart feel today?
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_00: What did you walk in here with?
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_00: Um, because we all are walking in on a Saturday morning with something.
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_07: Welcome back to the Greenborn Podcast.
- 1:28:32SPEAKER_07: On the last episode, we interviewed Bella and Abby and went over their uh testimonies, their stories.
- 1:28:37SPEAKER_07: Um yap a little bit, a little bit.
- 1:28:41SPEAKER_07: Just a little bit.
- 1:28:42SPEAKER_04: Oh, you all think too much.
- 1:28:46SPEAKER_00: Tell the people, Tony, tell the people.
- 1:28:48SPEAKER_07: They uh they they may or may not have ran us out of storage.
- 1:28:53SPEAKER_07: Um today we are going to go through uh what RWC is, and I'm sure there will be a lot more yapping and testimonies and the spirit to come.
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_07: So Addy Bella, um, thank you for coming back.
- 1:29:09SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Tony.
- 1:29:11SPEAKER_01: Thank you for having us back.
- 1:29:14SPEAKER_07: And um we do also have a new new setup with the the mics um this morning.
- 1:29:20SPEAKER_00: Should we go into what happened?
- 1:29:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, should we tell the people first what happened this morning with the mics?
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_00: Let's tell the people.
- 1:29:26SPEAKER_07: Tell the people.
- 1:29:28SPEAKER_00: Well, well, we sat down to film this and both of them broke.
- 1:29:34SPEAKER_00: They didn't just break, they they snapped in half.
- 1:29:36SPEAKER_00: They snapped.
- 1:29:38SPEAKER_00: So first within two minutes of each other.
- 1:29:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_00: I don't know how did it happen, Tony?
- 1:29:44SPEAKER_05: I don't know, Queen.
- 1:29:45SPEAKER_05: How did it happen?
- 1:29:47SPEAKER_05: Um, okay, you can kind of hear me.
- 1:29:49SPEAKER_05: So, well, actually kind of go technically on this podcast.
- 1:29:52SPEAKER_05: So what happened was I was helping adjust the girls' mic, and the the one part that apparently is not supposed to turn, turned.
- 1:30:03SPEAKER_05: And didn't have to come back on.
- 1:30:05SPEAKER_05: So we were like, uh, can we find super glue?
- 1:30:08SPEAKER_05: We did not find super glue.
- 1:30:10SPEAKER_05: So we just kind of were like, alright, we could just have it set up like that.
- 1:30:14SPEAKER_05: Tony, the genius man he is, was like, let's do that for mine too.
- 1:30:19SPEAKER_05: And totally intentionally broke his as well.
- 1:30:23SPEAKER_06: Totally intentionally.
- 1:30:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, if you have the blue version, I like a blooper.
- 1:30:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, I believe that already.
- 1:30:30SPEAKER_06: Now we have to break it.
- 1:30:31SPEAKER_06: We have to don't get a new one and break it again.
- 1:30:34SPEAKER_06: That's the only option.
- 1:30:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:30:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, guys.
- 1:30:39SPEAKER_00: That was that's what happened this morning, and now that's why our mics are on the on the table.
- 1:30:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so as you can tell, great uh starts in the morning.
- 1:30:48SPEAKER_07: Very um, it took us about half an hour to get rolling because also Addie um likes to eat.
- 1:30:58SPEAKER_07: Everbowl.
- 1:30:59SPEAKER_07: Shout out Everbowl.
- 1:31:00SPEAKER_01: Thank you for finishing the sentence.
- 1:31:02SPEAKER_01: Yes, shout out Everbow, delicious.
- 1:31:06SPEAKER_01: I got the nutty buddy, but I didn't get peanut butter, I got almond butter.
- 1:31:11SPEAKER_01: And the normal asai, not the vanilla assay, but the vanilla is amazing.
- 1:31:16SPEAKER_00: Shout out Everbowl.
- 1:31:17SPEAKER_00: Shout out Everbowl.
- 1:31:18SPEAKER_07: Shout out Everbow.
- 1:31:20SPEAKER_07: Alright, tell me about RWC.
- 1:31:22SPEAKER_07: What is RWC?
- 1:31:23SPEAKER_07: Why should someone join?
- 1:31:24SPEAKER_07: What's the heart behind it?
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_07: What's the vision?
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_07: What's the mission?
- 1:31:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:31:29SPEAKER_00: Wow, so Run with Christ, you know, on paper, it just it looks like a run club.
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_00: And um, it is a run club, but you'll hear us say it's not just a run club.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_00: So we'll kind of give you a little bit of a background of how Run with Christ started.
- 1:31:45SPEAKER_00: So it's almost been a year now.
- 1:31:47SPEAKER_00: Um, September 6th of 2024, um, a guy named Will Geringer felt a calling on his life from the Lord to start a run club back in um Columbus, Ohio.
- 1:32:03SPEAKER_00: And so he said yes to the Lord, which we totally will get into this, but just how important a yes really is to the Lord because this has become an international ministry now in just under a year, where there are 80 cities and I believe five countries that have Run with Christ just across the world.
- 1:32:24SPEAKER_00: So Run with Christ was started with the goal of bringing people that are isolated, integrated into Christian community, just feeling the love of Christ.
- 1:32:34SPEAKER_00: It's a Jesus movement, it's not just a run club.
- 1:32:38SPEAKER_00: Um, the running is really the least important part of Run with Christ.
- 1:32:42SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, there are a lot of people that that don't know the word.
- 1:32:47SPEAKER_00: Um, they don't, they don't know that that Jesus meets us where we're at.
- 1:32:52SPEAKER_00: We don't have to get it together to get to God.
- 1:32:55SPEAKER_00: Um and I know I I used to feel that myself where you know you think you're too far gone, you think you've sinned too much, you've done too many bad things that you can't walk into a church.
- 1:33:06SPEAKER_00: Um and that's just not the case.
- 1:33:07SPEAKER_00: But there are people that feel that way, they feel unworthy.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_00: Um, but they might say yes to coming to a run club instead of walking into a church right away.
- 1:33:16SPEAKER_00: Um, and the goal of Run with Christ is to just show people what it means to be loved like Jesus.
- 1:33:25SPEAKER_00: Um, intentional conversation where this community, when you walk in, um people are just they're so intentional with you right away.
- 1:33:36SPEAKER_00: Like, who are you?
- 1:33:37SPEAKER_00: What's your story?
- 1:33:38SPEAKER_00: What are you walking through?
- 1:33:39SPEAKER_00: Like, do you know the Lord?
- 1:33:40SPEAKER_00: Like, let me, I want to know all about you.
- 1:33:43SPEAKER_00: It's not um, it's just a deeper sense of community um where it is rooted in Christ, where let's love on people first, where those walls are broken down to where they can see just Jesus' character.
- 1:33:59SPEAKER_00: Um, and then the goal is to get people integrated into local churches after that.
- 1:34:04SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, that that's a little bit behind the mission of Run with Christ and what it is, but the goal is to literally just make heaven full.
- 1:34:14SPEAKER_07: So Indy, Run with Christ, where when if I come, what's to be expected?
- 1:34:21SPEAKER_01: So whenever somebody comes to Run with Christ for the first time, what's expected is just right whenever you walk into the parking lot, an overwhelming sense of joy and happiness and peace.
- 1:34:32SPEAKER_01: What we really stress is that whenever you come, you can just be yourself.
- 1:34:36SPEAKER_01: Don't have to get yourself together to come here.
- 1:34:39SPEAKER_01: You don't even have to be a runner to come here.
- 1:34:41SPEAKER_01: We have a walking group and a running group, and some people just stay back, some people just come for the community, which is what we want.
- 1:34:49SPEAKER_01: Um we also sometimes will have energy drinks, other sponsorships, sometimes maybe protein bars, we also have ice baths that people love to do at the end of the runs, um, music, and then we always like to start in prayer and a devotional just to like set the tone of the day.
- 1:35:09SPEAKER_01: And we start at 8 a.m.
- 1:35:11SPEAKER_01: on Saturdays, it goes until 10.
- 1:35:13SPEAKER_01: And then just like Bella was saying earlier, the run is literally like 5% of that.
- 1:35:18SPEAKER_01: The run is two miles, the walking group is like a mile and a half, but really what it's about is just the community and like finding your people.
- 1:35:27SPEAKER_01: We were made from community for community, and we're not like we're not supposed to do the walk with the Lord alone.
- 1:35:34SPEAKER_01: And what you should come expecting of is just like finding your people in your community and just being hit by the love of Christ.
- 1:35:43SPEAKER_07: So it sounds like I have to be at a top of life.
- 1:35:47SPEAKER_07: I have to come and and and go out and meet people.
- 1:35:51SPEAKER_07: Sounds like a kind of difficult to do.
- 1:35:55SPEAKER_00: Well, that's what's so special about Run with Christ because like Addy said, like, this this isn't a traditional run club where um the thing that is different, because there are so many run clubs, like they're so popular right now.
- 1:36:09SPEAKER_00: But the thing that people they they look at run with Christ across the country in other countries, and they're like, what is so different about Run with Christ?
- 1:36:18SPEAKER_00: What do they have?
- 1:36:19SPEAKER_00: And it's not what we have, it's who we have, which is Jesus Christ.
- 1:36:23SPEAKER_00: It is centered in Jesus Christ, where um like it is intimidating and it can be intimidating to walk into a space where you don't know people, you don't know what to expect.
- 1:36:36SPEAKER_00: Um, especially if you're not a believer, if you don't fully have a relationship with the Lord, that could be even more intimidating.
- 1:36:42SPEAKER_00: But the thing about Run with Christ that is so beautiful is you have people coming up to you, asking you questions about yourself, where everybody is so it's it's been the most intentional, loving, exciting community I've ever been a part of.
- 1:36:58SPEAKER_00: Um where it's literally teaching people how to get out of their shell.
- 1:37:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and I I've learned so much just by the people I've met through Run with Christ of how to be a better friend, how to be a better daughter, a better um leader, um, a better listener, like more intentional myself.
- 1:37:16SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, like it could be intimidating, but what I really encourage for everybody listening to this or everybody that comes to run with Christ is allow yourself to be uncomfortable just for a little bit.
- 1:37:33SPEAKER_00: Because Christ-centered community is I can't stress how important it is because for me personally, um, and Addie, I would love to like hear you speak on this too from like your perspective.
- 1:37:47SPEAKER_00: But for me, I know last time we were we were here, we were talking about our stories, and like I went through so much lukewarmness.
- 1:37:55SPEAKER_00: Um, I was back and forth in my faith, lukewarm, and then I was in the world and back and forth.
- 1:38:00SPEAKER_00: And the reason why I kept going to that lukewarmness in my faith is because my community was not strong.
- 1:38:07SPEAKER_00: I was choosing um to hang out with people that I knew I was gonna be tempted around.
- 1:38:14SPEAKER_00: Um, it's not necessarily that they they wanted to tempt me, it's just what we were doing.
- 1:38:19SPEAKER_00: My flesh was not strong enough to say no.
- 1:38:22SPEAKER_00: Um and so because of the community I was in, and we weren't chasing after Jesus, it wasn't in the center, I kept like we're all gonna fall short, right?
- 1:38:35SPEAKER_00: But I was like, I just wasn't walking that narrow path.
- 1:38:41SPEAKER_00: But when you are integrated into a Jesus movement, a Jesus-loving community, you that's where like you you do feel that love of Christ and you you chase after him so much deeper and stronger.
- 1:38:58SPEAKER_00: Um, because and you have that this deeper desire to know him because the people around you are also chasing after Jesus and they're calling you higher.
- 1:39:09SPEAKER_00: It's not that community anymore where it's like, oh, okay, like do it for the plot, or like it's okay, like just do this, like it's for the memories, like it's funny.
- 1:39:21SPEAKER_04: No for the plot.
- 1:39:23SPEAKER_00: For the plot, yes, but yeah, we we lived in the that community where it was like it's okay to sin a little bit, or it's okay to like and it makes Jesus debrief even better.
- 1:39:33SPEAKER_00: Yes, how do we yeah, yeah, like the we lived that life where um but when we when we started to experience Jesus community, that's where my faith completely took off because I didn't have anybody um encouraging me to to be worldly anymore.
- 1:39:55SPEAKER_00: Um and I didn't have have those temptations where I there were then people that I finally like looked up to where I was like, wow, their faith is so admirable.
- 1:40:05SPEAKER_00: I want to walk the way that they're walking.
- 1:40:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's where you can that's what you can find in Run with Christ.
- 1:40:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, we've had people where they they've walked and did not want to come to Run with Christ, they didn't want to be there, they got dragged there from a friend, they weren't sure where they were at in their faith, and then they they walked out and they bought a Bible right after.
- 1:40:26SPEAKER_00: There's also a man that was watching outside of the parking lot um one morning of Run with Christ, and he told one of our leaders that he was a Muslim, but he was watching us in the parking lot just filled with joy, and he was like, watching you guys makes me want to be a Christian because of the joy that you guys have.
- 1:40:45SPEAKER_00: Um so when I tell you those stories to say that like it really isn't just a run club.
- 1:40:51SPEAKER_00: This is this is changing people's hearts because Jesus is at the center and he has all of his children together, and we know and we pray every week that he brings the people there that he wants to bring.
- 1:41:03SPEAKER_00: Um, and he'll do the rest.
- 1:41:04SPEAKER_00: All he wants is for us to show up and just love people the best that we know how, and um, and that's by just representing the fruits of the spirit.
- 1:41:14SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's just not just a run club.
- 1:41:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I say it all the time um, an encounter with Jesus will set you free, but your habits with Jesus will keep you free.
- 1:41:25SPEAKER_01: And I think if you are not a Christian community, if you are not in Christian community, like you have to be in Christian community, you have to have people that are holding you accountable, that are holding you higher.
- 1:41:38SPEAKER_01: And like, I also say I don't want to be the holiest one in the room.
- 1:41:42SPEAKER_01: I need somebody that is more holy than me that can call me higher, call me out for where I'm lacking.
- 1:41:48SPEAKER_01: And I think starting at Rome with Christ, we've just seen a lot of people come and they're like, like you said, I want to purchase a Bible now.
- 1:41:54SPEAKER_01: They're purchasing Bibles.
- 1:41:55SPEAKER_01: How do I get more involved in a church?
- 1:41:57SPEAKER_01: We're getting people plugged into church because we are not a replacement for church.
- 1:42:00SPEAKER_01: But I do think Rome with Christ is a good place to start if people are unfamiliar with what Christianity is and who Jesus is.
- 1:42:12SPEAKER_07: Walk me through church versus RWC.
- 1:42:16SPEAKER_07: I mean, how do they compliment each other?
- 1:42:20SPEAKER_07: Who should come to RWC?
- 1:42:24SPEAKER_07: You said it's not a church.
- 1:42:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, run with Christ isn't it's not a substitute for church, but I think something that we we do need to um as a body of Christ know more is that that we we are the church.
- 1:42:39SPEAKER_00: A church is not a building.
- 1:42:40SPEAKER_00: Um it's the people that make the church.
- 1:42:43SPEAKER_00: Um and church isn't just a Sunday thing.
- 1:42:45SPEAKER_00: Like, yes, we gather um to to be in community to hear a sermon, um, and we think church is so important, and we should be plugged into a local church.
- 1:42:55SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, run with Christ is is really just about the community and um doing life alongside other believers or or non-believers.
- 1:43:05SPEAKER_00: Like we we want everybody to come to run with Christ.
- 1:43:08SPEAKER_00: There is not this um this facade that you have to be this perfect Christian that has followed the Lord um their whole life to come to run with Christ.
- 1:43:17SPEAKER_00: We want everybody.
- 1:43:18SPEAKER_00: We want um we want people that, yeah, they they have walked the Lord their whole life, but I also want that person that doesn't even know who Jesus is.
- 1:43:26SPEAKER_00: Um we we're after the lost souls is is really where our heart is at in this.
- 1:43:32SPEAKER_00: Um because I mean Addy and I know firsthand what it feels like to be so broken because of the world and living for yourself.
- 1:43:40SPEAKER_00: Um, and something the Lord has taught us in this is first that we we can never forget how broken we used to be and where we came from and how badly that brokenness hurt, because it shows us the glory that Jesus has of how far he brought us.
- 1:43:58SPEAKER_00: Um, but now it's our turn to to go and give him the glory by sharing our story.
- 1:44:03SPEAKER_00: Um and poet.
- 1:44:07SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I mean our testimonies, like another thing that the Lord has really taught us about Run with Christ.
- 1:44:14SPEAKER_00: Um, we from the beginning we knew Jesus like had a special calling on Indianapolis, but we didn't know what it was.
- 1:44:22SPEAKER_00: And I think we're starting to learn that like it is the power of testimonies.
- 1:44:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and the Lord put that on my heart a few months before Run with Christ um actually even like came about.
- 1:44:33SPEAKER_00: But I was like, okay, the Lord is just teaching me about testimonies because I I need to learn about them in my own life, but I'm so glad he taught me that because then walking into Run with Christ, I've realized like our testimonies, yes, they happen to us.
- 1:44:47SPEAKER_00: It's something that we personally walked through, but they're not for us.
- 1:44:51SPEAKER_00: Um the Lord will bring people in your path that need to hear what you walked through because it's exactly what they're walking through, and they need to know that if if someone else was just as broken as them and they can see where the Lord brought them now, it it gives them that hope of like, wow, okay, if Jesus did it for them, maybe they can do it, maybe he can do it for me as well.
- 1:45:15SPEAKER_00: Um and he can and he will.
- 1:45:18SPEAKER_00: But yeah, run with Christ Indy, like our biggest goal is to not have a facade up.
- 1:45:25SPEAKER_00: Um we want people to know like the brokenness that we came from.
- 1:45:29SPEAKER_00: Um Addie and I like we we want people to know that like our whole team, we all have just stories of living for the world, being in deep sin, um, and struggle and brokenness and weariness and um carrying all these burdens.
- 1:45:48SPEAKER_00: Um and Jesus set us free.
- 1:45:51SPEAKER_00: So this run club isn't just a bunch of perfect Christians trying to act perfect like we have it all together and we don't walk through anything hard because we do.
- 1:46:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, every Saturday we're all bringing something in, um, and it's not always easy, but the joy of the Lord is our strength, and that's what gets us through.
- 1:46:12SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's what we want to share with others.
- 1:46:14SPEAKER_00: We're not trying to put up this facade that um, hey, if you follow Jesus, you're gonna be just so perfect and you're never gonna, you know, have trials or all of these things because that's not true, and the Lord has not promised us um an easy life.
- 1:46:30SPEAKER_00: But um, the purpose of Run with Christ is that we do it together and we have people to walk alongside us um and that we are running this race together.
- 1:46:39SPEAKER_00: Um because like life is hard.
- 1:46:42SPEAKER_00: Life is hard, and the Lord wants us to be in community with each other, to call each other higher.
- 1:46:47SPEAKER_07: So RWC within less than a year now, 80 cities, five countries.
- 1:46:54SPEAKER_07: What's the vision?
- 1:46:56SPEAKER_07: Where do you feel like the Lord is leading RWC?
- 1:46:59SPEAKER_07: What what do you think the next steps are?
- 1:47:03SPEAKER_00: I feel like honestly, I think we believe that really the Lord the Lord has a different calling on each city because there's different people in each city.
- 1:47:16SPEAKER_00: And that's the beautiful thing about Run with Christ, I feel like, is we all we're all chasing after the same thing, which is Jesus and making heaven full.
- 1:47:25SPEAKER_00: But each city has just a uniqueness to um to what the Lord has called them to.
- 1:47:32SPEAKER_00: Um and each city like focuses on, you know, different things.
- 1:47:35SPEAKER_00: Like we just shared about testimonies and um, you know, really vulnerability is something that Indy is really focusing on.
- 1:47:42SPEAKER_00: It's what we feel the Lord has called to us.
- 1:47:45SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think just the vision of Run with Christ, it's not the the goal isn't to make it as as big as it possibly can be, but just that we we find lost souls.
- 1:47:57SPEAKER_00: Um I think the it is extremely evident to to the Lord of because it has grown so quickly and it has grown into this huge international ministry, it shows that it is only by the Lord's hand that he is doing this.
- 1:48:17SPEAKER_00: Because how in the world could this become this huge of a ministry in under a year?
- 1:48:25SPEAKER_00: Um it genuinely is only by the Lord's hand, so yeah, I mean I think the the mission and the vision just continues to stay the same of making heaven full and bringing people that are isolated, integrated into Jesus loving community because it is a Jesus movement and that's what it always will be.
- 1:48:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, ultimately where it goes next is up to the Lord, and that's just something Belle and I stress a lot is we can plan all this stuff, but if the Lord's hand isn't in it, we don't want it.
- 1:48:56SPEAKER_01: And we'd rather have his way over our way.
- 1:49:00SPEAKER_01: And we're he taught us that quickly in the beginning.
- 1:49:02SPEAKER_01: Whenever we first got this going, we started planning this back in March, and we were like, okay, like we're gonna launch in April.
- 1:49:09SPEAKER_01: April comes around, we're nowhere near like feeling ready to even get it going.
- 1:49:13SPEAKER_01: And May comes around and we're like, all right, no, no.
- 1:49:17SPEAKER_01: Like the Lord just kept telling us no, not yet, and we had to be obedient to that.
- 1:49:21SPEAKER_01: And then finally, July comes around, end of July, and we finally feel like the Lord is like, yes, now go ahead and launch.
- 1:49:29SPEAKER_01: And we like through the patience, we see why.
- 1:49:32SPEAKER_01: Like, we say all the time, He was preparing us for something big, and it's not the numbers, but he just has big plans for Indy, big plans for Run with Christ in general.
- 1:49:43SPEAKER_01: Like, it hasn't even been a year yet, and it there's already 80 cities with an RWC.
- 1:49:48SPEAKER_01: That's wild.
- 1:49:48SPEAKER_01: You don't see run clubs popping up and getting the attention that they do, and it's because RWC has Jesus in the Lord's hand, is all over RWC, and our mission and our goal is that.
- 1:50:00SPEAKER_01: His hand remains in it and he rema remains the center of RWC.
- 1:50:05SPEAKER_01: Um we can try and make it as big as we want.
- 1:50:09SPEAKER_01: But if that's not what the Lord wants, then that's not what's gonna happen.
- 1:50:13SPEAKER_01: And I think in Indy specifically, what he wants is to reclaim lost territory.
- 1:50:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:50:18SPEAKER_01: Like right from the beginning, we were deep in prayer and we're like, what do you want, Lord?
- 1:50:22SPEAKER_01: And just word after word was spoken to us, and it's like to reclaim the lost territory.
- 1:50:27SPEAKER_01: Like our route runs through the middle of downtown, and like we're down there trying to get people to know the Lord to come back.
- 1:50:34SPEAKER_01: We've had so many people that are like just curious, like, what are you guys doing?
- 1:50:38SPEAKER_01: And then they're like, We'll encounter them and tell them what's going on, and they're like, Oh no, no, no, I can't go back to that church because we start in a parking lot in a church, and we're like, come back with us, and they're like, I'm not welcome in a church, and then we just like say, I'm like, Yes, you are.
- 1:50:52SPEAKER_01: You are welcome here, everybody's welcome here.
- 1:50:54SPEAKER_01: So they'll come back with us, and then after just like talking to them and praying to them, we've seen people on the next day on Sunday, stepping into church, walking into church, front row in a church, worshiping the Lord when 24 hours prior they were telling us they're not welcome in a church.
- 1:51:12SPEAKER_01: And that is the big vision is that people just feel welcome and that they don't have the shame and the comparison, but know that the Lord loves them no matter who they are.
- 1:51:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:51:27SPEAKER_00: I think I also want to stress like the importance of a yes to the Lord, because a yes can feel so scary, but I want to like honor Will Geringer in this because the Lord called him to this and he was the one that started this.
- 1:51:42SPEAKER_00: Um, the Lord worked through Will to get all of this to get going.
- 1:51:47SPEAKER_00: Um and I think about that often of like, thank you, Jesus, for Will's yes.
- 1:51:53SPEAKER_00: Because look at what one yes, like it exploded.
- 1:51:57SPEAKER_00: And you don't know, like, your yes could be like the next thing, like um, of what Jesus is trying to do.
- 1:52:05SPEAKER_00: He is after his children, and he is after um our generation, especially.
- 1:52:11SPEAKER_00: Young adults are seeking more.
- 1:52:14SPEAKER_00: They are just more and more people are becoming on fire for the Lord, and there is a Jesus movement across like our country.
- 1:52:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so many lives are being saved because of that yes.
- 1:52:26SPEAKER_00: Yes, and like I know that, like, I know what one yes in our life did for our life.
- 1:52:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, run with Christ has changed our whole, yeah, our whole life.
- 1:52:37SPEAKER_00: Um, and we almost didn't say yes to it.
- 1:52:40SPEAKER_00: There were times where I wanted to quit, and there were times where I just didn't want to be obedient.
- 1:52:44SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'm so thankful that um that we pushed through um because the Lord knows what he has called you to.
- 1:52:55SPEAKER_00: And I think a lot of times we could be like, I know I when the Lord told me to um be involved with Run with Christ, I kind of fought back with him.
- 1:53:05SPEAKER_00: I was like, no, I'm not equipped for this.
- 1:53:07SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, I don't like to speak in front of people, you know, I like I can get a little anxious or I've never led anything before, and I'm I'm making up all these reasons of why it couldn't work because that's what we do.
- 1:53:19SPEAKER_00: You know, we try to think logically, we try to think of things like in a oh, this is yeah, it's just not gonna work.
- 1:53:25SPEAKER_00: But the Lord has already considered you before he called you, he already knows what he's calling you to, he's gone before you, he just needs you to say yes.
- 1:53:35SPEAKER_00: Like, where, like, where is your faith?
- 1:53:38SPEAKER_00: You know, like we just have to have the faith that God knows what he's doing, he already has this plan mapped out for us.
- 1:53:45SPEAKER_00: And after saying yes, he isn't going to be like, okay, well, figure it out now.
- 1:53:51SPEAKER_00: He he's with you every step of the way, and he's gone before you through everything.
- 1:53:58SPEAKER_00: Um, so that's something that I just I yeah, I want people to find comfort in.
- 1:54:02SPEAKER_00: And you just never know like what coming to run with Christ could do for you and your faith, um, your personal life, um, no matter what it is, um a yes holds so much weight to it.
- 1:54:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 1:54:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:54:21SPEAKER_07: I've seen both of you say yes to RWC and to Addy, you know, for instance, you sharing your testimony, you speaking, both of you speaking, and it's been a beautiful testimony from both of you, and it's been awesome to grow alongside you and and just in a month or two see your guys' growth, my growth um through this journey.
- 1:54:44SPEAKER_07: So, with that said, I appreciate you guys coming on today.
- 1:54:49SPEAKER_07: And is there anything else that you would like to share with the audience?
