Frank Beard ZZ Top Drummer Passes | Greenville News
ZZ Top’s legendary drummer Frank Beard, the only original member without a beard, has died at 77, leaving behind a half-century of groove that defined the band’s Texas sound. A true innovator and collaborator, Beard was instrumental in shaping ZZ Top’s signature blend of rock, blues, and country — influencing drummers from Metallica to Foo Fighters. His passing, surrounded by family at his Texas ranch, comes just two years after bassist Dusty Hill’s death, and while the band mourns, they honor his wish to keep playing — resuming their tour later this month.
