Mexico is finally reopening its border to U.S. livestock sales starting August 24th after a year-long ban due to a deadly screwworm parasite outbreak that hit cattle on both sides. The main crossing will be in Douglas, Arizona, with more possible later if things go well. This parasite’s maggots burrow into wounds and can infect any warm-blooded animal — including pets and humans.
