- 1:19Speaker 1: We got big plans over there. Some stuff's going to
- 1:21Speaker 1: be dropping later this week that we think you guys
- 1:23Speaker 1: are going to be excited about. Yeah, let's kick This
- 1:26Speaker 1: episode off with the synopsis of A Newport Christmas. When
- 1:30Speaker 1: a spirited nineteen oh five Newport socialite wishes for a
- 1:35Speaker 1: different life, a passing comment whisks her straight into twenty
- 1:39Speaker 1: twenty five and right into the path of a charming
- 1:42Speaker 1: sailor and historian. As to to fall in love across time,
- 1:46Speaker 1: Ella must choose between the future she's come to a door,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and the past that depends on her return. Dustin Reiker
- 1:54Speaker 1: directed A Newport Christmas. This is the first of two
- 1:56Speaker 1: movies he directed this holiday season with twenty nine director
- 2:00Speaker 1: Oriial Credits. Dustin's resume reads like a girl's Gone. Hallmark
- 2:03Speaker 1: favorites list, including the Christmas Quest, the Finish Line, A
- 2:06Speaker 1: Merry Scottish Christmas, and so many more. The screenplay was
- 2:10Speaker 1: written by Juwa Botkin, marking her thirty first writing credit.
- 2:14Speaker 1: She also has another film debuting this holiday season. Botkin's
- 2:18Speaker 1: previous Hallmark projects includes Savoring Paris, Branching Out, and Never
- 2:22Speaker 1: Been Chrissed. Gena Clare Mason stars as Ella. This is
- 2:26Speaker 1: Gina Claire's fifth acting credit, Really Really, and she has
- 2:31Speaker 1: previously started in A Carol for Two, A Heidelberg Holiday,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and A Holiday spectacular. Gina Claire starred as Glinda in
- 2:37Speaker 1: Wicked in a multi year run on Broadway. Wes Brown
- 2:42Speaker 1: stars as Nick, fresh off his return as Jared and
- 2:45Speaker 1: Haul Out the Halloween. This marks his fifty sixth acting credit.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Fun fact, Wes's Love on the Danube episode is our
- 2:55Speaker 1: most downloaded podcast this year. Outside of the Way Home,
- 3:00Speaker 1: Side of the Way Home is Movies movie Movie Tala
- 3:04Speaker 1: Robinson plays Christine. Tala has just two other acting credits,
- 3:07Speaker 1: which include the series PowerBook two, Ghost and an episode
- 3:10Speaker 1: of the Equalizer. Evan Alexander Smith plays Francis. Evan Alexander
- 3:15Speaker 1: is another Hallmark newby. This project marks his third acting credit.
- 3:20Speaker 1: David O'Donnell plays Adam slash Rex. David has previously appeared
- 3:24Speaker 1: on Hallmark in A Cozy Christmas Inn from twenty twenty two,
- 3:29Speaker 1: also the cult classic Christmas under Wraps, for which A
- 3:35Speaker 1: Cozy Christmas Inn is a sort of sequel. Oh really,
- 3:39Speaker 1: Christmas under Raps? Candice Cameron Beret. Oh that's right, I
- 3:43Speaker 1: remember Stephanie Tanner. That's not her name. What is her name?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Her name is Jody Sweeten. Yes, she was in the
- 3:49Speaker 1: sort of sequel. Correct, got it? Regina Schneider plays Sadie.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Regina has twenty nine acting credits and appeared and Missed
- 3:57Speaker 1: It Christmas from twenty twenty three. Other work included FBI
- 4:00Speaker 1: Most Wanted. That is a show I've been wanting to
- 4:03Speaker 1: watch which is weird? Right? Is that a scripted show? Yeah? Oh?
- 4:08Speaker 1: On Network TV. She was also in the Blacklist. Paige
- 4:12Speaker 1: Ann Cummings plays Ada. Page's resume is stacked with short
- 4:15Speaker 1: films and this is her first time on Hallmark. Joseph
- 4:17Speaker 1: Delger plays Albert with thirteen acting credits. Joseph has been
- 4:21Speaker 1: seen on the Blacklist, The Good Cop, and Gotham. This
- 4:24Speaker 1: is his first appearance on Homemark. Friend of the show,
- 4:28Speaker 1: Keith Nielsen was the costume designer on A Newport Christmas,
- 4:30Speaker 1: where he told us months ago that we weren't ready
- 4:33Speaker 1: for the looks in this movie. Let's take a quick
- 4:37Speaker 1: break and we'll come right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy,
- 4:48Speaker 1: what was your first impression of a Newport Christmas? True
- 4:51Speaker 1: love is nice, but an oat milk latte comes in
- 4:53Speaker 1: a very strong second. I love an oat milk latte
- 4:57Speaker 1: a hot one, and if you put out like a
- 4:59Speaker 1: one of those like cinnamon reindeer art on top of
- 5:02Speaker 1: it sold I love the ever the experience of it.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I felt what Ella was feeling. She's here for the whimsy.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Would you believe I'm here for the whimsy? I'm shocked.
- 5:14Speaker 1: My first impression is Gina Claire absolutely anchors this time
- 5:17Speaker 1: traveling tale. I have so much to talk to you about,
- 5:21Speaker 1: especially Gena clare Mason. My other alternative was this movie
- 5:27Speaker 1: is smooth Sailing through Time. Oh I like that one too.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Let's talk what you like. Should we start with the
- 5:32Speaker 1: lovely Gina Claire we can? Yeah? For sure. First of all,
- 5:36Speaker 1: I love Gena Clare Mason. I love her as Ella
- 5:41Speaker 1: because Ella's bright and full of heart, and I love
- 5:45Speaker 1: her can do attitude and the spirit that she brought
- 5:48Speaker 1: to this character who literally wishes for a different life.
- 5:52Speaker 1: It made me. I Here's what I was thinking while
- 5:56Speaker 1: watching this. And I had said in the Ted Cooper movie,
- 5:59Speaker 1: if our world needs more Ted Cooper's, we also need
- 6:02Speaker 1: more Ella Stewards. Yes, don't you think so? Yes? I
- 6:06Speaker 1: think she was pitch perfect casting for this character because
- 6:10Speaker 1: the way she plays Ella tumbling into the twenty first century,
- 6:17Speaker 1: her indignance over the repeated it's my boat line was incredible,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and then her wonderment over the world as it is
- 6:26Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five is spot on. If you stumbled
- 6:31Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty years into the future and there's
- 6:34Speaker 1: giant buildings and people on scooters and inflatable snowmen, you
- 6:37Speaker 1: would be that blown away and it's so lovely to watch. Yeah,
- 6:44Speaker 1: her whimsie like you said about the latte art. One
- 6:48Speaker 1: of my favorite favorite moments in this movie comes from
- 6:52Speaker 1: Nick when she's like, how is life different here? Oh?
- 6:56Speaker 1: My god, go ahead, I recorded? Did I record at
- 7:01Speaker 1: the moment? Oh? You know, let's talk about it. Go ahead,
- 7:03Speaker 1: keep going. He says, we have taller buildings with shorter tempers,
- 7:07Speaker 1: bigger houses, but smaller families. And then this one really
- 7:10Speaker 1: hurt me, and I'm hurt me? Is the wrong word?
- 7:12Speaker 1: Hit me? More conveniences but less time. And then she says,
- 7:18Speaker 1: but look what you also have. You have twinkly lights
- 7:21Speaker 1: and beautiful decorations and inflatable snowman. And her attitude is,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you know, he's kind of a realist about life in
- 7:28Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, and she's like, but look at the
- 7:31Speaker 1: running water. You know, as my husband pointed out, why
- 7:34Speaker 1: would you want to go back one hundred and twenty
- 7:35Speaker 1: years because life, especially for womenard was not great. Yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 1: so I really appreciated her outlook of but look what
- 7:44Speaker 1: else you have? I did too. I did too. But
- 7:48Speaker 1: I loved that line from Nick shout out Juwa Batan
- 7:53Speaker 1: who wrote it, because at the very end, which you
- 7:56Speaker 1: left out, he said, and everyone has notes and everyone
- 7:59Speaker 1: is you know, everybody has an opinion on things. And
- 8:02Speaker 1: I just was like, if I had to summarize twenty
- 8:06Speaker 1: twenty five like that, to me was perfection note say
- 8:10Speaker 1: holy s words, wabach in right, because that was the
- 8:15Speaker 1: movie right there? Right? I thought so too. He later
- 8:17Speaker 1: on says something to you to l Ligne that I
- 8:19Speaker 1: thought was really good, and it was about the Internet
- 8:21Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, it's just for posting pets and
- 8:24Speaker 1: arguing with strangers now, and I was like, oh my god,
- 8:27Speaker 1: oh my god. Nailed it. Is not wrong, nailed it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah more imau Gina Claire I had read somewhere prior
- 8:36Speaker 1: to watching this movie, because I didn't watch it the
- 8:39Speaker 1: night that it came out, and I watched it a few
- 8:40Speaker 1: days later. But somebody had said that her diction was impeccable,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and so going into it, I was like, oh, that's
- 8:48Speaker 1: interesting note just to keep in my head, and as
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm watching it, I would agree. She delivers her lines
- 8:53Speaker 1: like so Cris please, Yes, it's that Broadway theater training.
- 9:00Speaker 1: But I had also read on Reddit, you know, because
- 9:05Speaker 1: talk about arguing with strangers. There was so much negative
- 9:09Speaker 1: commentary that she was too over the top, like she
- 9:13Speaker 1: was too Broadway, she needed to bring it down. I
- 9:16Speaker 1: loved it me too. I loved her portrayal of Ella
- 9:20Speaker 1: and how she spoke to me as someone who has
- 9:23Speaker 1: seen Wicked. I don't think I've seen Gena Claire on Broadway,
- 9:27Speaker 1: but I thought this the way she played this character
- 9:30Speaker 1: was very close to Glinda in terms of the way
- 9:34Speaker 1: she spoke. Yes, yeah, I knew that there were going
- 9:40Speaker 1: to be those reactions that this was too over the top,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and I think that her behavior was spot on. I
- 9:46Speaker 1: think so too. I think so too. I have a
- 9:49Speaker 1: lot of little likes, but one more big like that
- 9:52Speaker 1: I like is they landed the plane For me, the
- 9:55Speaker 1: conclusion of the story made sense to you. Yes, yeah, now,
- 10:00Speaker 1: time travel always makes my brain hurt a little bit,
- 10:03Speaker 1: but I thought they set it up perfectly. They dropped
- 10:07Speaker 1: clues along the way, with Nick saying he had never
- 10:10Speaker 1: really felt at home anywhere else we set this situation
- 10:14Speaker 1: up with Rex. Is it perhaps a little bit too easy? Maybe?
- 10:19Speaker 1: But I just thought this makes sense to me the
- 10:24Speaker 1: way that we did this. I'm not going I don't
- 10:27Speaker 1: understand right, right, I did understand. Yeah, there's sometimes we'll
- 10:31Speaker 1: get into time travel. Maybe I'll just be like I
- 10:33Speaker 1: don't I don't understand the details of how this is working,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and it doesn't matter. But like this, Yes, I agree
- 10:38Speaker 1: with you. It made sense. The letters that got Dick
- 10:42Speaker 1: and Rex into the right places at the right times.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Very back to the future. Uh huh. I really enjoyed
- 10:47Speaker 1: that piece of the time travel. Yeah. Have you been
- 10:49Speaker 1: to Newport, Rhode Island? I feel like you have been. No,
- 10:54Speaker 1: this was shot in Newport, right, mm hmmm. Like I
- 10:58Speaker 1: want to go there, Yeah, like the wide seaside shots
- 11:02Speaker 1: and the grand historic houses like book me a winter
- 11:07Speaker 1: weekend away. I probably don't want to go in the winter,
- 11:10Speaker 1: but yes, but they looked like they were having a
- 11:12Speaker 1: good time in the winter. I know it was like
- 11:14Speaker 1: early ear this year. Yeah, maybe I know it'd be
- 11:18Speaker 1: cold but still. Yeah, there was one point where Ella
- 11:22Speaker 1: and Nick are outside and you can tell like how
- 11:25Speaker 1: cold it is, Like her nose is really red, and
- 11:28Speaker 1: I was like, oh, four things, this is probably really cold,
- 11:31Speaker 1: really really cold. Did you love the supporting cast. I
- 11:35Speaker 1: did love the supporting cast, Christine and Francis. Christina especially,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I really liked did it just worked? It just worked.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I liked their little romance too. I even liked our
- 11:48Speaker 1: supporting cast. In the past her I don't know what
- 11:53Speaker 1: her name is, her lady's maid, her handler. Yes, she
- 11:57Speaker 1: is Sadie. I really liked. I actually liked Albert, her father.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I thought he played that role perfectly. But the scene
- 12:06Speaker 1: when she arrives in the past and she and Sadie
- 12:08Speaker 1: run into each other's arms, I just I loved it
- 12:11Speaker 1: so much. Yeah, there's a lot of humor in this script.
- 12:14Speaker 1: When she says, look at me in my pants, drink
- 12:16Speaker 1: my look of a note from a paper cup, look
- 12:18Speaker 1: at me into my pants, look at me. I loved it.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I loved it. Is if I did just see that
- 12:23Speaker 1: because I didn't because there was so much there. Yes,
- 12:27Speaker 1: I loved it. She says to Nick, did you know
- 12:29Speaker 1: your box talks? I loved all that. I loved all that. Yes,
- 12:35Speaker 1: because imagine like somebody from one hundred years ago seeing
- 12:38Speaker 1: what we have today would be mind blowing. Yes, you're
- 12:43Speaker 1: talking box. Yeah, I really love the north Stromrac callback.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Me too. Now you know how we were recently talking
- 12:51Speaker 1: about USAA. Yes, okay, I don't think norstrom Rack was
- 12:56Speaker 1: a sponsor here, but this is how you would do it.
- 13:00Speaker 1: My notes say, and on the back of our product
- 13:02Speaker 1: placement talk, this was well done. Yeah. I don't know
- 13:05Speaker 1: if it's product placement or not. I don't either, but
- 13:08Speaker 1: if it is, that's how you do it exactly where
- 13:12Speaker 1: it becomes part of the organic narrative, not not. Hey,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm a representative from USAA, and let's talk about your
- 13:20Speaker 1: insurance needs. And it's it's done well, it's relatable. It's
- 13:24Speaker 1: something that you and I would say to each other. Yes, yes,
- 13:27Speaker 1: it's from nord Rac, like it was on sale and
- 13:30Speaker 1: it has pockets. It's that sort of thing that you
- 13:32Speaker 1: would blurt out right. I do wonder how custom designer
- 13:35Speaker 1: Keith Neilsen felt about her showing up at this beautiful
- 13:37Speaker 1: ballground and her being like it's nordster Rac and he's
- 13:40Speaker 1: like custom made this. Yeah, that's a good question. That
- 13:44Speaker 1: is a good question. We should let's text him and
- 13:47Speaker 1: find out. Yeah, right, what did you think about the
- 13:50Speaker 1: chemistry between Gina and Wes as Nick and Ella. I
- 13:54Speaker 1: was buying what they were selling me too, And I see,
- 13:58Speaker 1: this is the problem of not watching the movie in
- 14:00Speaker 1: real time and then seeing like opinions about it. They
- 14:04Speaker 1: start to question yourself. I start to question it. But
- 14:06Speaker 1: I did think they were very warm together. It was
- 14:10Speaker 1: not fiery, but that is okay as well. It was
- 14:14Speaker 1: still deeply believable to me. When she says to him.
- 14:18Speaker 1: There were two scenes in particular, when she says to him,
- 14:21Speaker 1: I talked about it earlier, when they're outside and it's
- 14:23Speaker 1: cold and they had their big kiss, and he's pressing
- 14:26Speaker 1: her to go home, to leave, and she is questioning
- 14:30Speaker 1: him about like you haven't found a home or whatever,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and she says to him, don't you have feelings for me?
- 14:35Speaker 1: I was like, oh, so good, Yeah, so good. And
- 14:39Speaker 1: then then they have this big kiss and I thought
- 14:41Speaker 1: the kiss was fiery. Yeah, he grabs her that like
- 14:46Speaker 1: it's unexpected. So my husband was watching. He was like, oh,
- 14:49Speaker 1: that's not going to get a good rating on the
- 14:51Speaker 1: smoocho meter and I was like, excuse me. So for him,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I was like, you're not seeing this as a girl,
- 14:57Speaker 1: because for me, like I'm not looking at the mechanics
- 14:59Speaker 1: of the I'm looking at like the way he like
- 15:01Speaker 1: grabs her and later on he does like a forehead kiss,
- 15:05Speaker 1: which is the man must be on book talk. But
- 15:09Speaker 1: I thought they were great. He's more looking at like
- 15:12Speaker 1: the lip action. I'm like, that's not what we're going
- 15:14Speaker 1: for here. He wants to see like the Love Island
- 15:18Speaker 1: at the time, I mean, hanging out before they even
- 15:20Speaker 1: like touch a ross. Can you imagine if we got
- 15:26Speaker 1: that on? Oh my stomach just turned any other likes, Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: just a couple more. I thought the finale part of it,
- 15:34Speaker 1: the scenes leading up to Ella's departure, the tension was
- 15:38Speaker 1: really building here. It was like neither of them wanted
- 15:42Speaker 1: to go right and like he he doesn't want her
- 15:44Speaker 1: to leave, she doesn't want to leave. They have that
- 15:47Speaker 1: slow dance at the ball like he's watching her sail
- 15:51Speaker 1: away like oh, and like the music swelled. It was
- 15:54Speaker 1: really good. I thought it was super cinematic, and we
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't always get that with Homer. This one worked for me.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I really liked some of the nuanced messages throughout the
- 16:05Speaker 1: movie about being true to yourself and taking the days
- 16:07Speaker 1: as they come and help others without expecting anything in return.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Like I loved all that. The final thing I really
- 16:15Speaker 1: liked were not just because Keith is a friend of
- 16:19Speaker 1: the show, but I really did love the costume. I
- 16:23Speaker 1: thought Ella's style. She arrives and she's like nineteen oh five, right,
- 16:27Speaker 1: but it really evolves in this very short time into
- 16:30Speaker 1: this like modern woman, but she's still very much Ella.
- 16:35Speaker 1: And I don't know if you noticed it, but she
- 16:37Speaker 1: had this really she had two cute little handbags, the
- 16:40Speaker 1: house one which I messaged Keith he said, it's a
- 16:43Speaker 1: Kate Spade bag. Youe so cute. And then she have
- 16:46Speaker 1: like a nutcracker one. Oh I didn't see the nutcracker.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I love body. It looked like a little nutcracker. It
- 16:52Speaker 1: may not have been, but it was like a person. Yes,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I think it was a nutcracker. It was purple. It
- 16:57Speaker 1: was so cute. There was a red coat that I had,
- 17:00Speaker 1: sparkly buttons that I really loved. I just yeah, they're
- 17:04Speaker 1: all The costuming was really well. A lot of gowns
- 17:06Speaker 1: I was like, you know, at the end at the party,
- 17:09Speaker 1: stuff like there's a lot of people you have to dress. Yeah,
- 17:11Speaker 1: these gowns. I just thought it was all great, great.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I liked it all too. I liked it all too.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Let's talk wishes. I really only have one. I got two, Okay,
- 17:22Speaker 1: I have a failli in ours might be the same
- 17:24Speaker 1: look in a movie. You speak of production value. The
- 17:27Speaker 1: movie almost from top to bottom, was really beautiful, but
- 17:32Speaker 1: I was put off by the boating slash water dock
- 17:38Speaker 1: scene moments, the green seat screens. It was rough and
- 17:41Speaker 1: they spend so much time. I can understand the boating,
- 17:44Speaker 1: but I kind of was like, could we not have
- 17:46Speaker 1: made the dock scenes a little there was no way
- 17:49Speaker 1: to shoot the dock. Yeah, I don't, I don't. I
- 17:51Speaker 1: don't understand. I don't understand. I was like, maybe it
- 17:55Speaker 1: was too dark and you cannot see anything. Maybe I
- 17:58Speaker 1: don't know. Look the boating, I get like, that's hard.
- 18:01Speaker 1: You're not going to send them out in this tiny
- 18:02Speaker 1: sail boat. And sure, I can kind of understand that.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I was picturing like off camera, like someone like being
- 18:10Speaker 1: in charge of like rocking the boat. But yes, the
- 18:14Speaker 1: green screen moments were terrible, and it was at the beginning,
- 18:17Speaker 1: so I was like, oh, yeah, that's a tone. Yeah
- 18:21Speaker 1: that they recover from one. But I agree, I agree
- 18:27Speaker 1: with you about those special effects. The other thing I
- 18:31Speaker 1: didn't love was I thought the wig that they used
- 18:35Speaker 1: an Ngina Claire Mason was a little distracting at sometimes
- 18:38Speaker 1: when it was when her hair was down and there
- 18:40Speaker 1: were like backshots, it just really looked like bad blonde wig.
- 18:46Speaker 1: That's all though. This it doesn't ruin the movie for me,
- 18:48Speaker 1: but by any means, well, let's talk to you. Just
- 18:52Speaker 1: see that I have a feet. We've talked about several
- 18:56Speaker 1: of mine. Can we talk about her exit from the ball.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So she leaves the ball, she's in a ball gown
- 19:02Speaker 1: and she has kind of a side swept up du
- 19:04Speaker 1: uh huh. She gets to the dock, not only has
- 19:06Speaker 1: she changed back into her traveling clothes so that she's
- 19:09Speaker 1: going back in time and period appropriate clothing, she's also
- 19:12Speaker 1: changed her hair backed oh, traveling hairstyle. Oh, which seems
- 19:16Speaker 1: to me they were in a hurry, like the giving
- 19:18Speaker 1: house tree had disappeared. Perhaps now it was not the
- 19:21Speaker 1: time for a hair change. Yeah, I'm guessing maybe they
- 19:24Speaker 1: just shot all those. I'm certain they did. Yeah, tell
- 19:27Speaker 1: me you did it. Speaking of disappearing the Marty McFly
- 19:30Speaker 1: disappearing portrait tree, I mean, it's very much back to
- 19:36Speaker 1: the future. Sure, it makes me laugh. I wonder if
- 19:39Speaker 1: time travel movies prior to Back to the Future like
- 19:43Speaker 1: use that. Yeah, well, what did the people at the
- 19:46Speaker 1: ball think when that tree just disappear? I have the
- 19:49Speaker 1: same question. I'm like, only the five of you see
- 19:52Speaker 1: this tree, just because it seems like there would be
- 19:55Speaker 1: a larger reaction for sure. For sure, for sure they
- 19:58Speaker 1: used that Dean Martin so it's a Christmas song. It's
- 20:04Speaker 1: beginning to look a lot like Christmas. They used the
- 20:06Speaker 1: actual Dean Martin version in the Sea. I just thought,
- 20:09Speaker 1: I was like, whoa, that put me in the Christmas spirit,
- 20:11Speaker 1: like immediately, that is my husband's all time favorite Christmas song,
- 20:15Speaker 1: the Dean Martin version. Yeah, yeah, I thought it was
- 20:18Speaker 1: so good. It was so so good. A couple other
- 20:21Speaker 1: things the some of the decorated Christmas trees. There were
- 20:26Speaker 1: a few that were decorated in orange. Yeah. I liked that,
- 20:29Speaker 1: And I was like, this is totally serving show girl
- 20:33Speaker 1: Taylor Swift energy. And this movie was maybe four that
- 20:39Speaker 1: all got released and dropped later this year. They had
- 20:42Speaker 1: a lot of trees. They had a pink one in
- 20:44Speaker 1: Ella's room in the in the Future. Yeah, I had
- 20:49Speaker 1: noticed some of the decorations on the trees were not
- 20:53Speaker 1: your traditional red and green. Daniel Kaynig, the set designer,
- 20:58Speaker 1: posted a bunch of photos of the trees, and I
- 21:00Speaker 1: saw it before I saw the movie, and I even commented.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I was like, Oh, the orange one's my favorite. I
- 21:04Speaker 1: love the orange one. I was like, hmm, Taylor Swift.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Fans like that, that's what you should be doing this year. Exact,
- 21:10Speaker 1: lay exactly, here's your info. Totally. Two more things, Nick
- 21:16Speaker 1: says Jesus who when they were getting ready to go
- 21:20Speaker 1: on the computer and he was telling her about the mouse,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and she reacts to the thought of the mouse and
- 21:26Speaker 1: she gets scared and he goes Jesus, oh, And I
- 21:28Speaker 1: was like, oh, that's interesting. I thought that reaction was
- 21:33Speaker 1: so good. Yeah, me too, believable m M. I almost
- 21:38Speaker 1: wondered if they told her to do that and didn't
- 21:41Speaker 1: tell him she was going to do that. So his
- 21:43Speaker 1: reaction to her was genuine. Oh maybe because it was
- 21:46Speaker 1: so good. Yeah, that's yeah, that's that's where they're just
- 21:49Speaker 1: great actors. Ore that. The final thing, you know, Ella's
- 21:55Speaker 1: nineteen oh five mansion is a museum now right. I
- 21:59Speaker 1: couldn't help but notice the travertine floors, And so I
- 22:02Speaker 1: had to investigate. Mansions in nineteen oh five would not
- 22:06Speaker 1: have had travertine floors. That is a modern day sort
- 22:10Speaker 1: of use of that stone. Interesting. Well, they did have
- 22:15Speaker 1: a fire and they did have to replace parts of
- 22:18Speaker 1: the mansion. Okay, fine, but mansions in nineteen oh five
- 22:21Speaker 1: would have had marble or parquet wood floors, not travertine.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And you know what I'm talking about, right, Remember in
- 22:27Speaker 1: the early two thousands, when travertine stone percent was everywhere everywhere.
- 22:32Speaker 1: We had a traverteine bathroom in our first house. Yeh see. Anyway,
- 22:36Speaker 1: so wherever they shot this, I don't know where they think.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I think my interiors were. I think it might have
- 22:41Speaker 1: been built in the two thousands. All right, what did
- 22:44Speaker 1: you rate a new part Christmas? I gave it. I
- 22:47Speaker 1: had to knock it down because of that green screen.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I gave it four point five stars. I gave it
- 22:50Speaker 1: four point five stars for exactly the same reason. Nice,
- 22:53Speaker 1: thank you for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Homework,
