Latest / On Air with Ryan Seacrest / JP Saxe Proves Why Being Vulnerable About Your Failures Is Important
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, the trending report. It has to do with
- 0:02Speaker 1: two artists that you may have heard of or note,
- 0:05Speaker 1: Nick Jonas and JP Sacks. So what happened, Tanya?
- 0:09Speaker 2: This is JP Sacks. He posted a very vulnerable video
- 0:12Speaker 2: this was last summer, begging his fan saying, I need
- 0:14Speaker 2: to sell roughly twenty thousand more tickets in forty eight
- 0:17Speaker 2: hours to avoid canceling my tour. He in fact did
- 0:21Speaker 2: not hit that number, so he did have to end
- 0:23Speaker 2: up canceling his tour. But because of this video that
- 0:26Speaker 2: he made, he got a lot of praise from other
- 0:28Speaker 2: artists saying that they've been there and they've had these experiences,
- 0:32Speaker 2: but everybody's too afraid or too prideful to share that.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Everybody just wants to share their successes and post their
- 0:37Speaker 2: highlight reels. And so Nick Jonas during this these Sunday
- 0:42Speaker 2: Sessions for his new album, he was talking about how
- 0:45Speaker 2: he reached out to JP after he saw that video.
- 0:47Speaker 2: He invited him to come out and perform with the
- 0:49Speaker 2: Jonas Brothers when they were on tour, and then that
- 0:51Speaker 2: led to JP working on Nick's solo album Sunday Best
- 0:54Speaker 2: with him, and they wrote they did some songs together,
- 0:57Speaker 2: and I just thought it was a really beautiful story
- 0:59Speaker 2: and it turned into some of these amazing career opportunities
- 1:03Speaker 2: that I don't think he would have had had he
- 1:05Speaker 2: not shared that. Well.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You think about tours have been canceled in the past,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and there usually is a positive line about scheduling. I
- 1:14Speaker 1: mean that's a positive, but there's usually some sort of
- 1:17Speaker 1: an excuse, correct about scheduling or the demand of the schedule. Yes,
- 1:22Speaker 1: when an artist cancels, but if you're really thinking about it,
- 1:25Speaker 1: no one's canceling a tour unless they're super, super sick,
- 1:29Speaker 1: or it just doesn't sell.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Correct.
- 1:31Speaker 1: There's just too much at stake.
