New Hanover County is launching a bold new initiative to fight food deserts and transportation barriers by giving 2,000 residents free Instacart memberships — plus a $10 monthly stipend for healthy groceries — thanks to a $1.2 million grant. Eligible residents must live in the county, earn at or below 300% of the federal poverty level, and reside in areas over a mile from a grocery store or face mobility challenges.
