- 0:23Speaker 1: Hey there.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So today I wanted to share with you a lovely little parable from the Buddhist canon, and it's called the Bamboo Flute and the Wind.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I hope it resonates.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's a very, very beautiful little tale.
- 0:41Speaker 1: In an old, peaceful village lived a flute player named Jai Ho.
- 0:47Speaker 1: In an old, peaceful village lived a flute player named Jai Ho.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Jai Ho was known for playing the most beautiful melodies on his bamboo flute.
- 0:59Speaker 1: His music filled the hearts of the villagers with joy and peace.
- 1:05Speaker 1: However, jai Ho was unhappy.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Despite his abilities, he felt that his music was missing something, something that he couldn't put into words.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So one day Jai Ho went to an old sage in the nearby mountains and lamented his dilemma.
- 1:25Speaker 1: The sage listened attentively and smiled Jai Ho, have you ever tried to play with the wind?
- 1:36Speaker 1: He asked Confused.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Jai Ho looked at the sage how, how can I play with the wind?
- 1:46Speaker 1: The wind has no notes, no melody.
- 1:50Speaker 1: The sage smiled again and said the wind has its own melody, jai Ho.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You just have to learn to hear it.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Go out and play your flute in the wind, listen to its gusts and its stillness, let it carry your melodies and change your tones.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You will see that the wind is not your opponent, but your duet partner.
- 2:32Speaker 1: With these words in mind, jai Ho went back to the village.
- 2:36Speaker 1: He took his flute and went to a hill where the wind was strongest.
- 2:43Speaker 1: At first, jai Ho played as usual, but he noticed that the wind was amplifying, distorting and changing his notes.
- 2:54Speaker 1: He began to pay attention to the movements of the wind, to its coming and going, its strength and its calm.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Instead of playing against the wind, jai Ho began to play with it.
- 3:12Speaker 1: He adapted his melodies to the movements of the wind, letting it carry and change the notes as he played.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Jai Ho felt profound harmony and joy that he had never felt before.
- 3:31Speaker 1: When the villagers heard the music, they were enchanted.
- 3:37Speaker 1: The melodies were even more beautiful and richer than before.
- 3:43Speaker 1: They felt the harmony between the flute and the wind, a harmony that filled their hearts with peace.
- 3:52Speaker 1: From that day on, jai Ho always played with the wind.
- 4:00Speaker 1: His music was no longer just his own, but a duet between him and nature.
- 4:09Speaker 1: He had found what his music had been missing all along harmony with the wind.
- 4:19Speaker 1: He had learned to play not only on his flute but also on the invisible instrument of the wind.
- 4:29Speaker 1: And in this harmony, jai Ho finally found the happiness and the contentment that he had been seeking.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I'm Lisa Hopkins.
