Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Personalized License Plates
Transcript
- 0:00You know, it's really hard to have a personalized license plate that doesn't just
- 0:03come across as cheesy or stupid to everyone else because you know what it means.
- 0:07And even if you figure it out, you only get seven letters to
- 0:09make something clever. It's hard, right. Have you ever seen a good
- 0:12personalized license plate? No? I Usually if I see anything, I'm like,
- 0:15oh boy, Or you drive by me, You're like, yeah,
- 0:17that's totally your plate. Nothing really sticks out. One that I see and
- 0:22people will message me is a big Mama. There's somebody who has a big
- 0:25Mama on around town. And that was what I like my pet name I
- 0:28guess from my mom lovingly, and I'm like, yeah, that's cute.
- 0:30But other than that, no, And I also don't really pay attention.
- 0:34I was notified that somebody on Facebook this was a post. And there's like
- 0:38a Facebook group called Insanity of Fargo Moorhead, Okay, which I'm now a
- 0:42proud member of. Nice wait. And there was a plate, a North
- 0:46to Go to plate in Fargo that said b l n K one eight two
- 0:50OO, which a man of course, that is of course Blank one eighty
- 0:54two, my favorite band of all time. So everybody thinks, of course,
- 0:57this is you driving around. So somebody tagged me in it and said
- 0:59is this you? And it's a funny story. I mean, no,
- 1:02it's not me. I wish it was. But I actually know who had
- 1:04that exact license plate before. Whoever's driving now. His name is Luke.
- 1:08He's in my band Low Standards. You heard of him? I have,
- 1:11yeah, so wells. He also, much like me, is like swifty
- 1:15level obsessed with Blank one eighty two. And so he had that plate and
- 1:19what did they call you, guys, Blinky's. We don't really have a
- 1:21name like that. I know there's not a name, but I know that
- 1:23it's not Blanky's. I'm calling you blink but continue. So when he moved
- 1:29over to Minnesota, he got rid of his North Dakota Blank one eighty two
- 1:32plate, and so when he went to a show, a Blank one eighty
- 1:34two show in Minneapolis, he did the meet and greet, paid a bunch
- 1:36of money to meet the band before Wow, and so he wanted to gift
- 1:38the bass player, Mark Coppis with this North Dakota plate because he plays bass
- 1:42too. So they do the meet and greet, hands Mark the plate,
- 1:47and he's like probably just kind of always super uncomfortable. Yeah, no,
- 1:49you get somebody's like, oh cool, thanks. And a year later,
- 1:53fast forward, Luke is on Instagram my bandmate, and looks at Mark Coppis
- 1:57the Blank bass player an Instagram post. It's from his home studio. On
- 2:01the wall, there's the North Dakota license plate that says Blank went eighty two.
- 2:06That is awesome. He's got it prominently displayed in his home. Weird
- 2:09enough to display it, didn't just toss it and thought it was awesome.
- 2:13It's not like it's a wall of license plates. It was like a bare
- 2:15wall literally. The bass guitar is hanging there, and then there's the North
- 2:20Dakota license plate. Thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Big
- 2:23Blinky, I like it. You're never not gonna happen now, there's no
- 2:28cool name for Blankwinity too. You guys have a personalized plate? No,
- 2:31well, our band does. We got one on O and it's a funny
- 2:35process if you've ever actually got because I just got my own plates the other
- 2:38day and they're like, do you want a personalized plate? I'm like,
- 2:39absolutely not. But when it came to my band's trailer, we had needed
- 2:44a license plate for that, and so we wanted to have something funny,
- 2:46and so we always say the band is one of our catch phrases, we
- 2:49say rimmed Tim, which doesn't mean anything, right, it's super stupid.
- 2:53I don't even know the origin of it, but we say rimmed him in
- 2:55a lot of different contexts. And so I wanted that. And of course
- 2:59you have to explain why you want what it is you're you guys say this
- 3:02is how we vocally warm up Tim Tim. I didn't know how to explain
- 3:09it in words, so I just wrote, well, it's just something that
- 3:13my band says. It's our slogan. Well, two weeks later, apparently
- 3:19the North the state of North Dakota did not believe that it was appropriate.
- 3:23Oh really, and so they denied it. Okay, all right, yeah,
- 3:25but what about you? What's the best personalized plate you've ever seen?
- 3:29Seven on one two eight one ninety eight seven. You can text us or
- 3:31call us. We've got a couple on here on Facebook and one is you
- 3:36the best? That's cute. That's also when I would probably roll my eyes
- 3:38at this. One has me rolling. Maria says we're late la or l
- 3:43eight I saw one. If it's a busy mom, it's like ah.
- 3:47And then I hope that this vehicle who has we're late, has the stickies
- 3:53on the back and it's like ten kids in their whole family. That would
- 3:55make me happy. I did see. And I don't want to call this
- 3:59person out because for the great people. But there was a big suburban in
- 4:01the license plate said ski family. Did they have the skis up up on
- 4:09the top. No, no, they're just here and fargo to the flattest
- 4:11place. That's country. So you and I get you probably love skiing,
- 4:15but just to like love it so much that that's now your identity on your
- 4:19license plate. Barb just chimed in on Facebook as well and said a Canadian
- 4:23plate that simply said sorry, that's none. That might be the winner.
- 4:30That is the winner for me. Sorry like it. Amanda in the morning,
- 4:33Big ninety eight point seven, No, Amanda stills the sea looks see
- 4:38brought to you by JDP Electric. So comedians are coming in too. Joekoy's
- 4:43defense after he was criticized for his Golden Globe's performance Now Whoopy Goldberg said hosting
- 4:47gigs are just brutal if you've not been in these rooms and you just kind
- 4:53of thrust something out there. It's either hit or missed. I love Joe
- 4:56Cooy. He makes me just crazy because he's funny. Just be why.
- 5:00She really has a thing for you too, Pike. Yeah, she has
- 5:02good taste in man. Also, she sure dies Joe Coy, the guy
- 5:06she was married to. Ted Danson, Oh that's hey, we're up to
- 5:10a good start. Yesterday we spent almost the whole show trying to remember people's
- 5:14names, and here we are. I just threw Ted Danson out like it
- 5:16was nothing, just spitballing here. You didn't have night Quill last night,
- 5:19I'm going to I did have Nike Will Yeah. Really, Okay, I'm
- 5:21still sick, so it's allowed. There you go. Parent said that good.
- 5:25Steve Martin said, I did my head. To anybody who steps on
- 5:28that stage to host a live award show, it's very difficult, and not
- 5:31for the squeamash Steve Martin, what is he know? The guy from Cheaper
- 5:34by the Dozen? Oh you get out of here, he said, Really,
- 5:39you didn't even go with Father of the Bride. You went Cheaper.
- 5:41But isn't that his only role we ever had? I'm making so many people.
- 5:45Man, yeah you are, he said, I know because I'm still
- 5:47throwing up from the last time I did it in twenty ten. He basically
- 5:50said he now is going to have at least twenty minutes of stand up work
- 5:56just because of Oh, I'm sure he'll have that forever. Now we know
- 5:59him. He's on the map, you know what. Steve Martin was really
- 6:00good in, though seriously she by the dozen too. By the way,
- 6:06they are now saying that comedians should just be banned totally from doing any sort
- 6:12of posting. Get like a boring Ryan Seacrest or something. Man, he
- 6:16can do it. And Jennifer Lawrence, speaking of the Golden Globes on the
- 6:19Red Carpet, she brought up how uncomfortable she was at her wedding. She
- 6:24got married in twenty nineteen, and she said Robert de Niro was there.
- 6:28She said it was stressful just in general that day, but she remembers looking
- 6:31at him and this went down. I looked over and I saw Bob Roberts
- 6:36doesn't know anybody, and he's kind of wandering around, and I immediately was
- 6:41just like, no, this is not this isn't what he wants to be
- 6:43doing. I don't want him here, so I went over and whispered.
- 6:46I was like, go home. And he was nice. He like talked
- 6:48to my parents and you know, it was polite. But then I was
- 6:50like go and then he left and that just genuinely made me feel better.
- 6:57That's when you just see how uncomfortable are you. That's the most awkward.
- 7:00When you're walking around and everyone else is engaged in like a group conversation,
- 7:03You're just like, oh, somebody, somebody take me in. Somebody take
- 7:08me in, but know me right, like, can we talk quick?
- 7:10It's brutal, like if you've ever been to a wedding where your significant other
- 7:13knows the person, and even worse, they're in the wedding oh, and
- 7:15you're just the plus one floating around in no man's land, the worst.
- 7:18Oh yeah, and then the favorite sit at the head table and you're like,
- 7:21okay, here we go. So you get seated next to like the
- 7:26you know, the bride's boss at work or something of his wife, and
- 7:30then you just start chatting with them, and then you know, three hours
- 7:32later your best friends really find out what you're made of. That's right.
- 7:35I love that he went. That's super super sweet, But dude, you
- 7:38did not have to and she probably thought, like, no way. You
- 7:41see Robert DeNiro Bob. She calls him, Oh, Bonnie, call him
- 7:44Bob if you're tight, and if you really know him, well you call
- 7:46him Bobby. There you Bobby d Man. Out of sight, out of
- 7:51mind. I totally space that Usher is gonna be the halftime performance for the
- 7:56Super Bowl, and we're finding out it has been a grind. He decided
- 8:00that he was going to quit sugar, alcohol, everything. He is gearing
- 8:03up for a performance of a lifetime. He's never not had a six pack,
- 8:07so I appreciate his dedication. But no, it's like a fourteen minute
- 8:11performance. I think you can probably muscle through. But it depends on what
- 8:13he's doing and also who is he going to bring on. I mean,
- 8:16I'm just excited for it. He's looked, in my opinion, the exact
- 8:20same since he started back in the nineties. Yeah, it's just so many
- 8:22really, of all the performers, he's got to have, like some of
- 8:24the most hits that we've had recently. I mean, this obviously got to
- 8:28get ercha. John Aloud up there together, Well, job, where's it
- 8:31at? It's Vegas. It's not to No, it's in Vegas. Yeah.
- 8:37Yeah, But cutting out sugar and alcohol, wouldn't that be the I
- 8:39mean really, if you wanted to be serious about losing weight getting in shape,
- 8:43like that'd be the quickest way to do it. Yeah, for sure,
- 8:46sugar like even a would it be hard? You forget what sugar is
- 8:48in I mean fruit, So there's a lot of different You're right. I
- 8:52was at cashwise the other night. Normally I'd get like enough apples for the
- 8:54week, you know, apple a day, doing my best to keep the
- 8:56doctor away, right, Yeah, And then I remember seeing something online about
- 9:01how much sugar is in apples, and I know there's like different kinds of
- 9:03sugar or whatever that's more than my pea sized brain can handle. So I
- 9:07just said, no, I'm not gonna have any apples. It's about balance.
- 9:09So you should have like a sugar, a fat, and a carb
- 9:13like all at once, and then you'll be fine. Trust me, I'm
- 9:16basically what diet. Have them all at once and it cancels it out,
- 9:20just helps with all of the castles it out. You ever watch that's just
- 9:22six hundred pounds sisters, No Tammy and oh my god, it's on home.
- 9:28I'm obsessed love these two sisters. They're a reality show. Yeah,
- 9:31okay, so it follows these sisters in real life. And so their belief
- 9:35was that they call them sody's like diet coke. So they grew out.
- 9:37Their mom told them that for every sody diet sody that you have it,
- 9:41you can have one sweet because it cancels it out. Really one diet coke.
- 9:46Go ahead and have yourself a donut. The bar is high because not
- 9:48last year. Who'd we have last year? Rihanna? Last year was Rihanna
- 9:52great? Of course, but the doctor dre Eminem fifty cent snoop dogg Kendrick
- 9:56like that one to me is the Mary of people. A lot of old
- 10:01schoolers saying, Pike, that was the worst one. We liked Prince or
- 10:05who? Yeah, I think we can all agree on the who. I
- 10:07don't care if you're ninety. I could see Grandma and Millie who's ninety six
- 10:13here in Usher and being like, yeay yay, I would pay for that.
- 10:16Take in a Mana in the morning seven. This family obviously enjoyed this
- 10:22particular restaurant so much so that they took their two kids there, a three
- 10:24and a two year old, and now they're causing controversy because the owner of
- 10:28the restaurant had to kick out the entire family. You know why, because
- 10:33the kids wouldn't stop crying, crying, screaming, crying. He described the
- 10:37two year old. He said it was like a shriek he'd never heard before.
- 10:39So we all know that sounded. I'm sure, Amanda, you got
- 10:41two kids, you know the shreek might You'd think it'd be my daughter who's
- 10:45four, who has that scream, my son who was three. When he
- 10:48starts screaming, it is like nails on a chocol You can just imagine it.
- 10:52It has to hurt. They're screaming so loud. So this owner,
- 10:56you know, he's getting ripped because he kicked the family out. But as
- 10:58a business owner, I mean, and it's not Listen, we're not talking
- 11:01about like a chuck e Cheese or a kid's place. It's like a cafe.
- 11:05And for me, it doesn't matter. You grab your kids and you
- 11:07go if one of them's not cooperating, and it's an uncomfortable situation, not
- 11:11only for you your family, for everybody around you. And it sounds like
- 11:16there was probably a family for you. Just hey, I'm gonna take this
- 11:18to go get our check. We're out of here. Take the kid to
- 11:20the car, yeap. The only exception is if you're on an airplane because
- 11:22it's nowhere to really take them. But otherwise I appreciate when parents do remove
- 11:26the kids from the tud You your best, you know, I would like
- 11:28to give them the benefit of the doubt. But and there there are times
- 11:31where people just don't care and it is mind blowing, in which case you
- 11:35deserve to be kicked out. And let's be honest, we've all been kicked
- 11:39out of an establishment a time or two, haven't we. I can think
- 11:43of one instance, and this was you can think of one. Okay,
- 11:46while you tell the one, let me narrow down which one I want to
- 11:50talk about. You can be where were you kicked out? So this is
- 11:52why it is so funny. It was Magic Mic like twenty twelve. The
- 11:58original Magic Mic was in theater yep, And it was a Friday afternoon.
- 12:01We kind of had a half day and there was a bunch of girls here
- 12:05at work and we wanted to do a girl's date to go see it.
- 12:07Let me set the let me set the tone, all right, So we
- 12:11decide, oh yeah, girls are together, Magic Mike. You're gonna leave
- 12:16work, and you know what sounds good. Let's make it a sushi date,
- 12:20so innocent, little food, a lot of wine. And then we
- 12:24decided, let's go see Magic Mike. A little pre pre party for the
- 12:30the boys pregame in a movie. You sick? Oh, Nick? Go
- 12:33right? Twoenty twelve. We roll into the movie theater. There's gotta be
- 12:37eight of us girls. Who can you imagine just eight women in Magic mic
- 12:43in general that know each other like that alone is annoying to me? Well,
- 12:46it had to be. The theater had to be full of that,
- 12:48right. So it was an earlier show, okay, you know, because
- 12:52we got into work early, so it wasn't like a nighttime performance by no
- 12:56means, probably still light outside. Oh boy, And I don't even know.
- 13:01I just remember people like looking at us and we're just like talking,
- 13:05and who I mean? You were those people acting as though Magic Mike was
- 13:09playing in our living room and we were having a girl party, like thanks
- 13:11for coming along with us, and we got it. I can totally see
- 13:15that you After a couple of glasses of wine, absolutely can see that thinking
- 13:18you're the funniest person in the world. You are, you are, okay
- 13:20o yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah. So they they came in and
- 13:24just gave me the old come here and you're coming with me. I just
- 13:26remember us all exiting and just like and then the awkward like oh my gosh,
- 13:30like laughing about it. It's just so childish and we were all,
- 13:33I mean, adults. It happens. Listen. I've been kicked out in
- 13:37multiple places. One together. We were in a club in Vegas. I
- 13:39got thrown out because I threw up. That's right. I stand by this,
- 13:43Like I told the bouncer that night, I'm not that drunk. My
- 13:46tummy just doesn't feel good. But I was also kicked out of another club
- 13:50just recently. This is like a year ago, so I'm like a thirty
- 13:52some year old man at this point. Really, But my buddy and I
- 13:54we were down. It was when I was living in Floridas. We're downtown
- 13:56in Orlando and we're going to go to this club and we've been out all
- 14:01night, so we're feeling real good. I don't know why, just the
- 14:03thought of going to a club anymore, I know, I mean kills me.
- 14:05That's why it was so funny to us. We thought it would be
- 14:07so silly because the people going in this club are dressed up to the nines
- 14:11and they're like club age, yes, and we're not. We're just silly
- 14:15dudes dressed wearing whatever. So we get in this club and our plan was
- 14:18just to dance, just to be silly, just to do some silly dancing.
- 14:22So we walk in the door. I'm not kidding. We took about
- 14:24ten steps and as we're walking, we start kind of grooving our hips a
- 14:26little kind of like pointed fingers, doing the cheesy white guys kind of like
- 14:31maybe like a Brady bunch, Like I'm trying to give more of a visual.
- 14:35And this big bounce to wearing a black tuxedo, just holding the clipboard,
- 14:39sees us waltz in it. He looks at us. He goes,
- 14:41no, no, get out. He just threw us out. You didn't
- 14:45even get didn't even make it. Oh that's good. He just shakes his
- 14:50head. He goes, uh uh, oh, you are not coming in
- 14:54here. This reminds me I forgot. I was also kicked out of what
- 14:56is downtown Minis Bliss. I could not think of the name. I was
- 15:01there for a bachelorette party, and by the end of the night we ended
- 15:03up why Jack's I can't remember. We were down from where you get grape
- 15:07apes the loon? Is that what? Yeah, so we're down at this
- 15:11or was it the saloon? I don't know, another fine flash. But
- 15:15we had just left Gay nineties and we were walking down and there was I
- 15:18don't remember if there was like a live band, but my feet, Mama's
- 15:22feet were on fire. And I was wearing like these tall cheet of print
- 15:26shoes. So I'm standing in the front row like dancing, and I have
- 15:30my shoes in my hand and this guy he was so mean to me.
- 15:33He's like, put your shoes on, Like I actually can't, like my
- 15:37feet as sollen, Like I can't get him on, and he just looks
- 15:39at me. He's like, get your shoes on and get out of here.
- 15:43And I'm like looking at my girlfriends. I'm like carrying my shoes so
- 15:46because I could not get him on, and just so gross, because you
- 15:48know how weird I am with feet, Like the fact I was walking around
- 15:52in disgusting bart and he kept if he's kicking you out, he can't tell
- 15:54you to put your shoes on. Looked like, well, I'll do one
- 15:58of those things in a minute in the morning. Dig seven trending. Now
- 16:04here's what you need to know. Well, if you're like me, last
- 16:08week, I went, aren't Stanley's kind of over with? I was confused.
- 16:11I'm like, this has been going on for a couple of years.
- 16:14Why are we still making this a craze? I thought maybe like a news
- 16:17outlet picked it up and was like, ooh, I just found out about
- 16:19this. But it was because of that winter pink exclusive limited edition Starbucks one
- 16:25right yes, that they only sold at Target and it sold out without minutes.
- 16:29It is now on eBay up to three thousand dollars. Nobody's gonna buy
- 16:33then, And I get Listen, the craze is overblown, for sure,
- 16:36But there's a solid water bottle. It looks like a Stanley and it looks
- 16:38like it could go through a nuclear war. You know, the last thing
- 16:41standing would be, you know, like a horn and Stanley cups. Yeah,
- 16:45and I didn't even realize that we had an ex hilarious, hilarious comment
- 16:51that you just blew right past, aren't you wondering why corn, why horn
- 16:56bike? You know, it's apparently it's invincible. Gosh, I am so
- 17:04sorry for everybody who is hilariously driving off the road right now. I didn't
- 17:08let that one get really didn't get me. I was too busy looking out
- 17:15of the corner of my eye at this beautiful not Stanley that way. Yeah,
- 17:18we've had this in our possession before this became a thing. Yeah,
- 17:21it's a exclusive pike and Amanda in the Morning tumblrt and we're giving it away.
- 17:25It is winter pink, so you got that going for it. But
- 17:27again, before winter pink was a thing, and now it is used.
- 17:30But it's sort of like homes and that it only goes up in value.
- 17:33Your chance to win it right now is on a big nine hit points on
- 17:37Facebook page. Now. To be clear, Amanda has a little whipstick staying
- 17:40around the rim that. Do you even remember fruit stripe gum? I never
- 17:51forgot. It was so cross to me. I think I tried it one
- 17:53time. I'm like, nah, but I didn't like juicy fruit. I
- 17:56didn't like fruity gums, fruit stripe gum. It was about the experience which
- 18:00didn't last long. No, it didn't the packaging for a kid. Come
- 18:04on, growing up in the nineties, fruit stripe gum so fun bubble tape
- 18:08for me, or because that was just that was fun to be able to
- 18:11peel it out and do do what you're talking about packaging. I liked bubble
- 18:18tape better than or they even bazook got better than that. No, okay,
- 18:22so what we're saying here fruit stripe gum is gone, gone forever.
- 18:25Yeah, they discontinued it. So this is like basically we're having a funeral
- 18:29for fruit stripe gum. And Amanda got up to talk about some of the
- 18:30other you know, I'm sorry because I just want people who are mourning the
- 18:34loss of fruit stripe gum to know bubble tape is still a thing, is
- 18:37it? Really? It is? It didn't last long either. Yeah.
- 18:40My husband actually bought it for the kids the other day and like, what
- 18:42are you doing? And that's all? They just want a little piece of
- 18:45gum every day. I'm like, ugh, you ever take the whole roll
- 18:48of the tape and just chew it? No? Oh, yeah, how
- 18:52do you even do that? Well, you take it out of the packaging,
- 18:56you put it in your mouth and then you start chewing, but that
- 18:59would be that'd be tough. I kind of want to get a thing to
- 19:03see what you look like doing that once. You just bring a bunch of
- 19:08stuff and we'll see how that can fit in my mouth. Well, thank
- 19:11you, fruits ripe for your service. You're gone, but never forgotten.
- 19:15You live on in our memory. Why do this today? Pete Davidson is
- 19:25revealing new details about Aretha Franklin's funeral and saw this headline in a went why
- 19:30was he there? Because the picture that is surfacing he is standing there.
- 19:33Imagine a funeral, everybody is gathered and he looks like Frankenstein standing in the
- 19:38middle of everybody. It is so terrifying. But he was high, right,
- 19:42yes, so he I guess has this one hour special And he dished
- 19:45that he was high on ketamine at the event and disassociating. He even admits,
- 19:51he goes, if she was alive, she would go who are you
- 19:52and why are you at my funeral? But he was with uh Ariana Grande
- 19:56at the time and she was performing. I thought they had a thing.
- 19:59Pete and Aretha at the end there, come on, come on, well
- 20:03with his track record, you just never know you can't rule anyone out.
- 20:06I mean maybe before Arianna. I don't know, but this is not a
- 20:10good idea. And he admits he was so high he thought it was a
- 20:12good idea to go up to our family and say, hey, I'm just
- 20:17here to pay my rispect. He did not say that. That's what he
- 20:22said. That's a goofball. Kick him out of there. I feel like
- 20:26you and Pete would be good friends. Just crap each other out and Amanda
- 20:30in the morning on page seven, before we get into this texting conversation.
- 20:36Yeah, I'm in a bit of a standoff right now. On Facebook.
- 20:40We have a good listener named Mark. Yeah, we do. You know.
- 20:41Mark and I go way back. Mark used to deal me blackjack when
- 20:45I was like a young twenty one year old when you had a blackjack problem.
- 20:48I remember those days. To play blackjack every day. It's not a
- 20:51problem, No, no, not at all. Well, nonetheless, Mark's
- 20:53been a great listener. And then you know he had sent you a message
- 20:56in regards to what we were just talking about. So I went to look
- 20:57at his Facebook page. We're not friends anymore. You know that feeling when
- 21:00you go to somebody's page and it says ad friend. Yeah, your heart
- 21:03just sinks, and you know it's it's funny because you're uncomfortable. But then
- 21:07I was the one who had to send him a message and say, hey,
- 21:11Pike wants to know why you unfriended him. Well, and you know
- 21:15I had told you it's probably because you ditched us. Pike. You moved
- 21:18all the way to Florida and you were just down and out, never to
- 21:21even look back. But is that not all the more reason to stay Facebook
- 21:26friends so you can keep up with your old pal. Yeah. He then
- 21:29said you didn't make one of his Facebook house cleanings because you had moved,
- 21:32so uh. Then he said he's got he must have one of the cleanest
- 21:36friends lists. Nobody out of the zip code is friends with Mark. He
- 21:40did say tell him to send him a request? I said, want to
- 21:42now he's now he's playing hard to get so well why should I? You
- 21:45are friended me Mark, you're the one who wants to be friends with him.
- 21:49He never said he wanted to be friends with exactly. All right,
- 21:52tell him if he doesn't want to be Facebook friends, that's fine, just
- 21:56say so so good. I love it. I love you Mark, even
- 21:59if not Facebook friends. All right, So texting gen Z's going through a
- 22:03bit of do we have him on? All right, Mark, hang on
- 22:07real quick. We're gonna save this rousing conversation for another time. But all
- 22:11right, Mark, you are live on air. So if you have any
- 22:15harassing words to say to Pike, just I don't have any harassing words to
- 22:18say to Pike. But periodically people go through their Facebook accounts and if there's
- 22:22someone that's no longer in the area or they don't have a lot of contact
- 22:26with, they get them. I get not just so, and so I
- 22:29didn't think about adding you when you came back. Yeah, and yes,
- 22:32I indeed did deal blackchack to you for years when you were young, sir.
- 22:36So I don't have any hard feelings on this end. I just didn't
- 22:40realize I was going to become a local celebrity on the air. Mark,
- 22:42You've been a celeb in this studio for years now. We love you,
- 22:45and I just listen. I get it because I'm in a unique position where
- 22:48I get a lot of Facebook friends that I don't know necessarily, and so
- 22:52I'm just used to the and I'll tell you this, Mark, it is
- 22:53kind of fun to have random friends you don't know, because you get a
- 22:56lot of the drama that you're not really familiar with. That said, I
- 23:00get the house cleaning. I get you don't want some loser who moved down
- 23:03to Florida. But now we're back, and I think it's time that you
- 23:07and I reconnect. Well, maybe we can hit up. We've been talking
- 23:10about golfing for a while, so maybe we can go golf in this next
- 23:11summer. Absolutely, there you go. I'd like that a great time.
- 23:15All right. Well, and on one last note before I go to work,
- 23:17I did send you another friend request. Oh dude, I love this.
- 23:22I'll haven't answered to you by noon, Amanda in the morning. On
- 23:26SIG seven, isn't there things that are sort of outdated, sort of myths
- 23:32that are believed about dating that can kind of go away? Like you and
- 23:36I, Amanda, we haven't been dating for years now, and so probably
- 23:38things that we believe to be true back then no longer are the case,
- 23:41apparently, And I got the top five. Okay, all right? So
- 23:44for example, remember the hole you need to wait to say I love you
- 23:48because of this whole you know, sometimes they say the three month rule.
- 23:51Even three months doesn't that like, And again this shows out outdated. I
- 23:53am feels a little aggressive three months when be honest, it's very that you
- 24:00and Nick you pretty much fell in love right away, and it was like
- 24:02a very expedited process. It was yeah, absolutely who said it? And
- 24:07when did you say? I love you? I believe it was him,
- 24:10and I honestly don't really I don't remember. I know it was early on
- 24:11because I remember him moving. We started dating mid August. He had moved
- 24:17to Iowa October first, and we had already done gone I love you.
- 24:21So are we saying? Probably weeks? Not months? Yeah, wow,
- 24:25like a month and a half. Probably you think he said it. You
- 24:26don't remember for sure, though you don't remember that much. I really don't.
- 24:29We were so caught up in that moment, so indescribable. Interesting.
- 24:33And this is another outdated dating rule, the whole all women only want a
- 24:37guy who's six feet tall, he's rich, he's got a six pack,
- 24:41owing by the way, he's a big jerk. That's not really the case.
- 24:44Huh No, I think nowadays, and I guess maybe just generational and
- 24:48after you've been through a couple, guys are like, I want somebody who's
- 24:51truly your best friend and can make you laugh every single day. Like that
- 24:55is you're willing to sacrifice a couple of inches if it means it can make
- 24:57you laugh. Are you willing to make that s? Yeah? Yeah.
- 25:03Another rule for dating that's outdated. You should wait three days after a date
- 25:07to message or call it the first gosh, like three seconds like, hey,
- 25:11it was great to see you. Yeah, you're getting in your car
- 25:12going, oh my god, it was so fun tonight. Yeah, made
- 25:15it home. Say for look forward to and if you don't hear from them,
- 25:18I would say within twenty four hours, it's like out. I mean
- 25:21a lot of these are like if you like the person, and that's something
- 25:23it's not a decision you make. It's like just truly a feeling that you
- 25:26actually like the person. And if that's the case, then you're willing to
- 25:30look past pretty much everything one thing that bothers me. And I feel like
- 25:33a lot of women do this. I was just talking to one of my
- 25:37girlfriends about it. Who's in the dating scene. I'm like, playing hard
- 25:38to get brings me to number two here? Oh really? Men love to
- 25:41chase women. They enjoyed the challenge of convincing an uninterested women to go out
- 25:47with them, or that men like it when women like you said play hard
- 25:49to get. Like I just said, though, if you actually like them,
- 25:52then it doesn't matter you. They don't need to play hard to get.
- 25:55If I like you and you're just being very responsive and you're texting me
- 25:57the second we leave, then yeah, that's great. But vibe, but
- 26:00if you're still not sure, if you short of them on the fence and
- 26:03then they're being a little aggressive like texting right away, then that can probably
- 26:07swing you in the wrong direction. I don't know. I just feel like
- 26:10people can pick up vibes. Maybe I'm wrong. You should just know like,
- 26:12oh, a person's not I will say though, Lauren and I my
- 26:15wife who've been together ten years now. But right away, Amanda, it
- 26:18was not. It was a little bit of what we're talking about, sort
- 26:21of hard to get, sort of like yeah, just not really interested in
- 26:23dating, blah blah blah. I'm really struggling and remembering you guys getting together
- 26:27because it wasn't just hot and heavy. But then I remember when you guys
- 26:30were together, was like, oh my gosh, you're together. Yeah,
- 26:33as I was dating for you know, like the one year of my life
- 26:36that I was single. You know, yeah, there was there was times
- 26:37where people were really interested, and I'll be honest, yeah, it's like
- 26:41seems like that can be a bit of a turnoff. You know if it
- 26:42was like, oh that was why was that so easy? You know,
- 26:45I'm not that likable, you know, you wanna hang on it? Den
- 26:49d With Lauren, it really was like a six month process for both of
- 26:52us really in the end workdoun and everybody has their journey, and I think
- 26:56it also depends on what stage of life you're on, where you're at.
- 27:00You know, Nick and I weren't getting any younger, and it was like
- 27:03okay, cool, here we go. Yeah, got real lucky. Yeah,
- 27:06And that's a That's another big one here is that you shouldn't talk about
- 27:10wanting or not wanting kids, or just your general life and relationship goals on
- 27:14the first date. That's outdated because, like you said, you both were
- 27:17in a position where you that's what you wanted, and so why should you
- 27:19not make that clear? Totally? Yeah, because if you're gonna tell me
- 27:22in six months something that I'm gonna go, huh, absolutely waste of my
- 27:27time. Yeah, like, oh, you were looking for a serious relationship.
- 27:33We weren't just horsing around. My bad, I have this all mixed
- 27:37up. Sorry to waste the two years of your life. Like in a
- 27:41minute in the morning on Big Nuddy eight points seven. Well, if you
- 27:45were in this area Fargo, Moorhead, North Dakota, Minnesota in two thousand
- 27:48and three, you surely remember this story. The murder of Drew Shadeen.
- 27:52Gosh, just devastating, right, we remember, you know, I think
- 27:56I was probably in fifth grade. But just the story of when you found
- 28:00out that she'd gone missing from the Columbia Mall in Grand Forks, the search
- 28:03of course finding her body. I mean, it was just horrifying, the
- 28:07whole thing. And then the trial Alfonse Rodriguez getting sentenced to death. I
- 28:11mean, just all of it is in the turn of events too. I
- 28:12mean that still happened even up until this year with the Dea sentence with Alphon
- 28:18is it getting Yeah, So it's just it's horrifying. This reminds me because
- 28:22two thousand and three I had graduated, so I was just leaving down.
- 28:25But like Jacob Weatherley, you know what I mean, and remembering those stories
- 28:29but this is one of them that oh just gets you. It's so sad
- 28:33and Tomorrow Night twenty twenty, if you've been following along on Facebook, like
- 28:36her family has been promoting the fact that this is coming out tomorrow night on
- 28:38ABC, take a listen. There are some stories that just stick with you.
- 28:42Drew was working at Victoria's Secret. She did a little Christmas shopping,
- 28:48headed to her car, and then went missing from the mall. She was
- 28:52talking with your boyfriend and the following dead. It wasn't a screen. It
- 28:56was just as the last time anyone from Drew Shadeen. How heartbreaking is that
- 29:03to think about? So it was emotional. She was one of those kids
- 29:11that everybody loved, like everybody's daughter, everybody's friend. We were twenty two
- 29:15year old, we were invincible. Now Friday Night that must have been sentenced.
- 29:19Chill down your spine twenty twenty takes you inside the hunt to catch a
- 29:25killer. He was excellent at stocking people before he kills again. So his
- 29:30violence is escalating. You have a serial sexual predator on your hand. The
- 29:36true crime effect missing from the mall. In the blink of a night,
- 29:40things changed forever. David new York Deborah Roberts The Only twenty twenty Friday Night
- 29:45at nine eighth Central Auto ABC man chilling, and so tomorrow night that's gonna
- 29:49be probably must watch. Oh absolutely. And if you weren't super close and
- 29:53you don't remember all of it, just even having that conversation with your kids,
- 29:57I mean, those are those things that you should be talking about.
- 30:00I mean, you just never know, you don't. Yeah, And like
- 30:03you said, Amanda, the Jacob Wetterling story that I think preceded this,
- 30:07and so that was what like when I was growing up, my mom just
- 30:08constantly was terrified to have this yes anywhere alone and always using that is like
- 30:14this happened, so we don't want this to happen to you. So yeah,
- 30:17to be aware of your surroundings and what's going on, but it can
- 30:19happen to anybody. I had forgot that she was working a Victoria's secret,
- 30:22just normal day, you know, and then yeah, it sever breaking and
- 30:26I'm sure obviously you heard the person crying there, you know. For us,
- 30:30like you know, we all move on and still remember it, of
- 30:32course, but for their family, even the boyfriend who's on the phone with
- 30:34her at the time. I mean, just what their lives have been like
- 30:37since that, and again with the trial and going back and forth, and
- 30:41remember Elphonse, I mean, you're you're living that every day and you're still
- 30:44fighting for justice and not completely ever getting that. I can't imagine. I
- 30:48don't check it out Tomorrow night. It's on ABC.
