- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:07Speaker 2: It's International Podcast Day and at One Leg Up Alex Media,
- 0:11Speaker 2: I just want to give a shout out to Spreaker,
- 0:14Speaker 2: my home flagship for carrying the show for now 12
- 0:19Speaker 2: plus years. We're going on to year 13 in 2027.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Hard to believe I'm saying that, but thank you Spreaker
- 0:27Speaker 2: for distributing the show. and for really just putting this
- 0:31Speaker 2: out there. When I first started this thing, I just
- 0:34Speaker 2: want to get the truth out about the taxpaying dollars,
- 0:36Speaker 2: where it was going to, holding our taxpayer, paying money
- 0:40Speaker 2: accountable and all that.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I didn't expect it to lead.
- 0:42Speaker 2: To a grant in 2025, thanks to IdeaSpark. And I
- 0:49Speaker 2: didn't think it would lead to a big connection with
- 0:52Speaker 2: Fanatics to the point of being in the Fanatics games.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And we all know how that went from there at
- 0:57Speaker 2: Fanatics Fest. So, When I started this little thing in 2014,
- 1:03Speaker 2: I didn't know how many legs it would have, but
- 1:06Speaker 2: it's really grown to one leg up, Alex Media. And
- 1:10Speaker 2: I want to thank Ryan. I want to thank everybody
- 1:12Speaker 2: out there listening. I want to thank Ashi, my mom, Vic,
- 1:15Speaker 2: my dad, who was there from the beginning in 2014
- 1:19Speaker 2: and before that at Blog Talk Radio.
- 1:22Speaker 3: And now this is the future 12 years later.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I talked about yesterday's superintelligence being the cool name now
- 1:32Speaker 2: for AI.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Can I still say it on my podcast? But Edison Research.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I could do a whole highlight show of this on
- 1:41Speaker 2: National Podcast Day of One Look Up Alex Media, but
- 1:43Speaker 2: I want to focus on this.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Because this is interesting.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Edison Podcast Metrics asked weekly consumers how they would feel
- 1:51Speaker 2: if their favorite podcast hosts started using AI-generated version of
- 1:56Speaker 2: themselves to host their podcasts. First of all, I think
- 1:59Speaker 2: that's freaky, and I always think people put their voice
- 2:04Speaker 2: out there risk being copied anyway because people just take
- 2:08Speaker 2: their voice like this and just start repeating it in AI.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It's very creepy to me. But here's what the stats say.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Most weekly podcast consumers, 66% of them reacted negatively to
- 2:24Speaker 2: the idea. One-third of them said they would feel deceived.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Another third feeling upset. 32% said skeptical, followed by 28%
- 2:33Speaker 2: who felt betrayed. Only 27% of weekly podcast consumers selected
- 2:39Speaker 2: any positive emotion. 14% of weekly podcast consumers were impressed
- 2:44Speaker 2: by the usage of an AI-generated host. Another 12% were optimistic,
- 2:49Speaker 2: and 10% were fascinated. Ryan, you might want to do
- 2:52Speaker 2: this on your podcast, too, because this is a real podcast.
- 2:56Speaker 2: scare for people in the radio and production community. It's
- 2:59Speaker 2: why SAG-AFTRA went on strike, because companies were going to
- 3:03Speaker 2: start using the actors like this in AI. The point
- 3:08Speaker 2: of doing it naturally to talk to you, the listener,
- 3:11Speaker 2: is so that AI doesn't take over the podcast space.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I don't think having someone put their voice in AI,
- 3:21Speaker 2: you might.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Be creative or whatever, but it doesn't help the cause.
- 3:25Speaker 3: of keeping humans around in this industry.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Every day, I feel like we're all worried, is our
- 3:30Speaker 2: voice going to be taken over by AI? Could an
- 3:33Speaker 2: AI person voice 10 million job spots, if you will?
- 3:36Speaker 2: I mean, it's one of those things where if you're
- 3:40Speaker 2: in this business, especially as a podcaster or a radio
- 3:43Speaker 2: voiceover guy, you do not want AI to take over
- 3:46Speaker 2: because they would take over your job. They would mimic
- 3:50Speaker 2: your likeness and voice and make you say things you
- 3:53Speaker 2: never said. I am strongly against that. I would never
- 3:57Speaker 2: do that or tamper with it. And I've been offered, hey,
- 3:59Speaker 2: can you give us your podcast selection to do, you know,
- 4:04Speaker 2: to make it AI and we'll give you money back?
- 4:06Speaker 3: I'm like, no, I'm not doing that. That means AI
- 4:10Speaker 3: is winning.
- 4:10Speaker 2: By labeling it super intelligence, he's giving credence to AI,
- 4:14Speaker 2: which I don't like either. For goodness sake, look how
- 4:19Speaker 2: many jobs get replaced at your local McDonald's because you
- 4:22Speaker 2: can just go up there and order from A machine.
- 4:25Speaker 2: There's only like three or four people behind the counter now.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And you want that in the media space? No wonder
- 4:32Speaker 2: SAG-AFTRA went on strike for a good six months or more.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Because they're fighting back at this cost-cutting thing known as AI.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's not really to benefit anybody. It's actually to, I
- 4:49Speaker 3: would say, take us over. And Ryan Pagano, you want
- 4:52Speaker 3: to weigh in on this?
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, if I could just bring something up
- 4:55Speaker 4: here really quick, I mean, just, and you're 100% right
- 5:00Speaker 4: about all this, Alex. I mean, as somebody who makes
- 5:04Speaker 4: his living by voicing a ton of job spots for
- 5:08Speaker 4: my day job, like, it's incredibly dangerous to have this
- 5:11Speaker 4: kind of thing going around and seem sort of more normalized,
- 5:15Speaker 4: if you will. But also the fact that, I mean,
- 5:17Speaker 4: you can't go a single day on social media now
- 5:20Speaker 4: without seeing some sort of, what the kids will call
- 5:23Speaker 4: AI slop.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And that's just all.
- 5:26Speaker 4: These different graphics generated by artificial intelligence and all that.
- 5:31Speaker 4: And it could be a flyer for, you know, an
- 5:34Speaker 4: event or even a flyer promoting, you know, food menu
- 5:38Speaker 4: items or something like that. Like I've seen so many
- 5:40Speaker 4: eateries utilize AI slop to promote their business.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And I don't know, man, it.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Just doesn't sit right with me. I don't really understand
- 5:49Speaker 3: that either. Like, I don't know. It sort of dumbs
- 5:52Speaker 3: it down as well and makes it less personable.
- 5:55Speaker 1: But what's wrong with the human aspect of it? But
- 5:57Speaker 1: isn't what.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Podcasting is personal? There's a personal medium that you and
- 6:01Speaker 2: I are on every damn day.
- 6:03Speaker 4: It's not robot to human or anything like that. It
- 6:06Speaker 4: doesn't hit the same. I mean, you want authentic podcasting?
- 6:11Speaker 4: It's human to human. You're never going to get authentic
- 6:13Speaker 4: from a robot. I'm sorry, but it's really no wonder
- 6:16Speaker 4: why people are saying, oh, AI might kill us all
- 6:19Speaker 4: or something like that. Because you do not have the
- 6:21Speaker 4: same level of authenticity there.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I mean, that's just the truth. You're never going to
- 6:26Speaker 1: have authenticity.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Now, Ryan, let me ask you this because I know
- 6:27Speaker 2: you're going to rip off a couple of pods. Are
- 6:29Speaker 2: you going to incorporate this into your stats at PAG's
- 6:33Speaker 2: perspective today? Because it's actually comforting to know people that
- 6:38Speaker 2: listen to these podcasts want actual human voices, like 66%
- 6:43Speaker 2: is good. But I want to convince the other 27%
- 6:45Speaker 2: or whatever that, you know, You can like creativity, but
- 6:49Speaker 2: I also believe you can be creative with the mind,
- 6:52Speaker 2: not with AI.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and wouldn't you want an actual human being to
- 6:57Speaker 4: be more creative? And look, I get it from the
- 7:00Speaker 4: monetary perspective. People don't want to pay other people for
- 7:03Speaker 4: their work. And that's fine, but, you know, people... Well,
- 7:08Speaker 4: I shouldn't really be saying it's fine. It's actually not fine.
- 7:10Speaker 4: People got to make a living one way or another.
- 7:12Speaker 4: And by having AI take all these creative jobs, you're
- 7:16Speaker 4: taking away the creativity of human beings... And then you're
- 7:19Speaker 4: also costing people their livelihood of work. I mean, that
- 7:22Speaker 4: just does not sit right with me.
- 7:24Speaker 2: And actually, you're not respecting the time, the effort, the energy.
- 7:28Speaker 1: The artist.
- 7:29Speaker 3: The passion that we have going into this whole thing.
- 7:31Speaker 4: How about the number of years that it took for
- 7:33Speaker 4: these artists to get to where they are right now
- 7:36Speaker 4: just to be dethroned by AI or what President Trump
- 7:40Speaker 4: is now calling superintelligence or whatever the heck they want
- 7:42Speaker 4: to call it now.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Right. No, it's... It's alarming that he's giving that credence,
- 7:47Speaker 2: and I'm glad that 66% are saying, no, keep it
- 7:51Speaker 2: the way it is. But also, I want to come
- 7:53Speaker 2: on here on Spreaker and iHeartRadio, Spotify, wherever you listen
- 7:56Speaker 2: to One Leg of Alex Media and say, forcefully so,
- 8:00Speaker 2: keep AI out of podcasting. That's my message today at
- 8:06Speaker 2: One Leg of Alex Media on International Podcast Day.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Keep it out of podcasting. Be creative, damn it.
- 8:12Speaker 4: And let's be guaranteed human here to borrow a line
- 8:15Speaker 4: from iHeartRadio's liners.
- 8:18Speaker 2: All right, real quick, on International Podcast Day, you've had
- 8:21Speaker 2: this podcast for a while, Pat's perspective. Are you surprised
- 8:25Speaker 2: how well it's grown through Spreaker? Because, I mean, even
- 8:27Speaker 2: you get syndicated on different apps now.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and I mean, a lot of that had to
- 8:31Speaker 4: do with you helping me out through the process. So
- 8:33Speaker 4: let's just say I wouldn't necessarily be here, or I would, but,
- 8:36Speaker 4: you know, I definitely wouldn't be on that level without
- 8:38Speaker 4: the help that you gave me to syndicate this whole
- 8:42Speaker 4: thing in the first place but you know 100 plus
- 8:45Speaker 4: episodes now of peg's perspective and we're only going to
- 8:47Speaker 4: keep growing from here on out and countless number of
- 8:50Speaker 4: collabs as well i mean a lot of them on
- 8:53Speaker 4: the one leg up network believe it or not so
- 8:55Speaker 4: i mean probably closer to about i don't know 150
- 8:58Speaker 4: by now something like that if not more i mean
- 9:01Speaker 4: i've kind of lost track admittedly but that's just how
- 9:04Speaker 4: much that i'm investing in this thing in the first
- 9:07Speaker 4: place this human to human connection that is seemingly getting
- 9:11Speaker 4: lost in this changing media world now.
- 9:14Speaker 3: It's insane. And then, so keep an eye out of podcasting.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And then the other thing I want to mention or
- 9:19Speaker 2: say on this International Podcast Day, and I'm going to
- 9:23Speaker 2: bring on Sean Hughes, who was my very first speaker
- 9:25Speaker 2: podcast that really went, you know, that started it all
- 9:29Speaker 2: in 2014. I'm going to bring him back on a
- 9:31Speaker 2: bit later today, do like a celebration of this. But
- 9:35Speaker 2: I did that in 2014 after bouncing around from Blog
- 9:38Speaker 2: Talk Radio. I had a speaker account in 2013 as well,
- 9:42Speaker 2: but that kind of went defunct.
- 9:44Speaker 3: So I would start up again.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And like my buddy Caleb Vasquez, who we saw last
- 9:49Speaker 2: night at American Whiskey, shout out to the Fanatics Advisory Board.
- 9:52Speaker 2: An incredible night for Game 1.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I don't know why we lost our voices for Game
- 9:57Speaker 2: 1 of hopefully a long run, but we did.
- 10:00Speaker 3: You know, 9-0.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I don't think anybody expected the Yankees to come out swinging,
- 10:03Speaker 2: especially without Judge, but Ben Rice stepping up. Maybe we'll
- 10:07Speaker 2: do that on another show too with Sean and Ryan,
- 10:09Speaker 2: but my message today is take that risk. You might
- 10:13Speaker 2: be afraid that your voice isn't strong enough or good
- 10:16Speaker 2: enough or people don't want to hear what you think,
- 10:19Speaker 2: but the Testament of this podcast and the growth I
- 10:22Speaker 2: think of it as from that outside perspective is, Oh
- 10:24Speaker 2: my God, I went from just doing it every few
- 10:28Speaker 2: days and weeks to almost every day to them, bring
- 10:32Speaker 2: on people to them, pivoting to the adaptability network, which
- 10:35Speaker 2: is really one leg up on adapting, really changed the
- 10:38Speaker 2: course of this whole show.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And I focus on that too, a lot. Um, take
- 10:44Speaker 3: that risk. You have thoughts, get it out there while
- 10:47Speaker 3: you can.
- 10:48Speaker 2: And as much as we're afraid of AI, the tech
- 10:51Speaker 2: space in general is a perfect way, this podcast space
- 10:54Speaker 2: is a perfect way to make your voice heard. As
- 10:57Speaker 2: I told Lindsay, as I told Ryan, as I told Caleb,
- 10:59Speaker 2: as I told Nitin, who has a podcast as well,
- 11:01Speaker 2: Julian Gilardi on Instagram, we are in the voices of now.
- 11:06Speaker 3: And you can be too. Just open up that mic.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Start a podcast.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to start with Spreaker, amazing, because
- 11:14Speaker 2: they have that network of, of being able to distribute you.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I've been proud to call speaker a flagship the last
- 11:19Speaker 2: 12 years, but now's the time to talk. Now is
- 11:23Speaker 2: the era because as much as we love radio, I
- 11:26Speaker 2: do think podcast is an excellent supplement to it. And, um, and,
- 11:31Speaker 2: and now's your time to get, I don't want to
- 11:33Speaker 2: say seen or.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Discovered, but to get your thoughts out there.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, there's 700 of us or more, but you know what?
- 11:40Speaker 3: You can find your own niche. I certainly have. Ryan
- 11:42Speaker 3: certainly has.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And, um, 12 years later, I was a Fanatics competitor
- 11:46Speaker 2: because of this podcast.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I really believe that.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know why that's the case?
- 11:50Speaker 4: Because these podcasters now, us included, are not afraid to
- 11:55Speaker 4: branch out of their comfort zone. Like, I'll admit, when
- 11:58Speaker 4: I started this podcast, and I don't know if you
- 12:00Speaker 4: felt the same way back when you were starting the
- 12:01Speaker 4: One Leg Up Network, Alex, but, you know, you just
- 12:05Speaker 4: felt that sort of imposter syndrome, if you will, where
- 12:08Speaker 4: you're just wondering to yourself, like, do I really belong
- 12:11Speaker 4: on a podcast or something like that? Like, is this really...
- 12:14Speaker 4: something that I belong in? And the answer to that
- 12:18Speaker 4: is always going to be yes. Like, exactly what you said, Alex,
- 12:21Speaker 4: everybody's going to find a niche one way or another.
- 12:23Speaker 4: You just got to not be afraid to take risks,
- 12:25Speaker 4: branch out of your comfort zone, and, hey, you'll have
- 12:29Speaker 4: a platform of.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Your own if you work hard enough, you know? And
- 12:32Speaker 3: even getting to meet Ben Rice and Cam and all that,
- 12:35Speaker 3: I mean.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Make all those connections.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I do believe that's all because that stemmed from this,
- 12:39Speaker 2: starting this in the winter of 2014 on Super Bowl Eve.
- 12:44Speaker 2: when the Broncos had played the Seahawks, we did that show,
- 12:49Speaker 2: and I played a lot of clips from Radio Row,
- 12:51Speaker 2: thanks to AIM 970. The answer is Mark DeBoer for
- 12:54Speaker 2: giving me that press access. That was unbelievable to go
- 12:57Speaker 2: on Radio Row, and it really jump-started this. And I
- 13:00Speaker 2: still bring people on 12 years later. How special is that?
- 13:04Speaker 4: I mean, 12 straight years of bringing all these different voices,
- 13:07Speaker 4: different perspectives on. I mean, there's nothing quite like it,
- 13:11Speaker 4: and I mean, Yeah, you're going to get the same
- 13:14Speaker 4: thing in radio now.
- 13:14Speaker 1: But what I always tell.
- 13:16Speaker 4: People, you know, because everybody says, oh, radio is a
- 13:19Speaker 4: dying industry and all that.
- 13:21Speaker 1: It's an evolving one.
- 13:22Speaker 4: And I mean, it's clear now that podcasts are going
- 13:25Speaker 4: to be the future. No question about it. But, you know,
- 13:27Speaker 4: from radio to podcasting and wherever else podcasting is going
- 13:30Speaker 4: to take us from there. It's important that you still
- 13:34Speaker 4: get that human-to-human connection.
- 13:35Speaker 2: And we're very lucky that we get to balance it
- 13:37Speaker 2: out on the radio here because you get on the
- 13:39Speaker 2: air sometimes.
- 13:39Speaker 3: I get on the air sometimes.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Yeah, you get your own unique connections from both platforms
- 13:44Speaker 4: either way.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And that's the.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Cool thing about being able to be immersed in both
- 13:50Speaker 4: of them. You have your own unique connections from the
- 13:53Speaker 4: podcasts and all that. And then you combine that with
- 13:55Speaker 4: the radio connections, I mean– It's a match made in heaven.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I mean, we had Dom Scala on radio, and then
- 14:00Speaker 2: I had you and him and Joni a little bit
- 14:02Speaker 2: on the pod a few minutes later.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I mean, that's how cool life is like that, you know?
- 14:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's unpredictable like that, but in the
- 14:10Speaker 4: best possible way.
- 14:11Speaker 2: And I had Ken Davidoff on. I just saw him
- 14:15Speaker 2: last on Monday night. I'm going to post those pictures.
- 14:17Speaker 2: And it's a good way to promote your socials because,
- 14:20Speaker 2: as you know, I do a lot of different, you know,
- 14:23Speaker 2: links to my FNAX creator store and I promote them
- 14:25Speaker 2: on social media. And I'm sure you do the same. You,
- 14:27Speaker 2: you say, Hey, follow me at Ryan Pags for podcasting, right?
- 14:30Speaker 3: And all that.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So, Oh yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Like I give the shout outs to my platforms accordingly
- 14:35Speaker 4: as well.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Cause you know what? It's not just my personal platform
- 14:38Speaker 1: and all that.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Like now you get to see a little bit more
- 14:42Speaker 4: of me as far as, you know, what I actually
- 14:43Speaker 4: cover and sort of my perspectives on these big things.
- 14:47Speaker 4: A lot of the, a lot of them have to
- 14:48Speaker 4: do with sports of course, but, It's just easier than
- 14:51Speaker 4: ever to get your own unique perspectives out there and
- 14:54Speaker 4: to actually get people to listen.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Well, we'll have to see.
- 15:00Speaker 2: One other thing I will also say is, I don't
- 15:01Speaker 2: know if you've found this, but when you jump on
- 15:04Speaker 2: the air with the podcasting, you kind of bring to
- 15:09Speaker 2: the airwaves, if you will, what you text friends in
- 15:12Speaker 2: group chats or what.
- 15:13Speaker 3: You write on Twitter.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And I love that dynamic of writing something and then
- 15:17Speaker 2: bring it to this podcast.
- 15:18Speaker 3: There's something to that.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Because it's like you're just talking to your friends, except
- 15:23Speaker 4: it's that times however much.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Being on the radio and all that. And I mean, look, Alex,
- 15:28Speaker 4: you were a firsthand witness to me hosting for the
- 15:33Speaker 4: first time ever on AM 970, The Answer. I guest
- 15:37Speaker 4: hosted Shake It Off Live with Bert and Lucas. I mean,
- 15:41Speaker 4: that was a fun time, too. But that's exactly what
- 15:44Speaker 4: it felt like, going into the show and all that.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'm just.
- 15:49Speaker 4: chatting it up with some friends and all that, just
- 15:51Speaker 4: a little bit amplified by the fact that you're on
- 15:53Speaker 4: AIM Radio and the number one market and all that. But,
- 15:57Speaker 4: you know, for as much imposter syndrome as I had
- 15:59Speaker 4: felt going into that, ultimately, you know, doing the podcasting
- 16:04Speaker 4: and all that, you just feel like a natural.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And that's why I really wasn't, I really can't say
- 16:09Speaker 1: I was that nervous.
- 16:10Speaker 3: You weren't nervous at all. You were very, very poised.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I'm used to it.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Now I'm just on a different stage. And look, I'm
- 16:14Speaker 4: not going to say no to that. if the opportunity
- 16:18Speaker 4: is going to present itself. So, you know, having something
- 16:21Speaker 4: to prove and all that going from the podcasting to
- 16:24Speaker 4: sitting in the hosting chair.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 4: On radio in the number one market in the world.
- 16:31Speaker 4: I mean, you got a lot to prove out there
- 16:33Speaker 4: and there you go.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Well, I want to say from Asher, always my mom,
- 16:38Speaker 2: my stepdad, as I said earlier, my dad, my buddies
- 16:42Speaker 2: from Queens college who really helped me get off this,
- 16:44Speaker 2: get this off the ground. Viscardi family, to now Nithin, Julian, Caleb, Lindsay, you,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and of course Sherry, who I actually met through this podcast.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Thanks to Steve Cohen, gotta shout him out as well.
- 16:59Speaker 2: And of course my 970 The Answer family, from Lou Terminello,
- 17:03Speaker 2: Terminello's take, to DJ Brink, Matt Sanbolin, who when I
- 17:07Speaker 2: started this thing 12 years ago said, what is Spreaker? Well,
- 17:11Speaker 2: now it's become a thing, and kind of a joke
- 17:14Speaker 2: at times, but It's become a thing. It's become a
- 17:17Speaker 2: part of our daily lives here with the radio because
- 17:20Speaker 2: he's got two podcasters in production on the daily. So
- 17:24Speaker 2: thanks to Matt for always believing in us and to
- 17:28Speaker 2: Jerry Crowley, to Laura, all of them at the 970 family. Very,
- 17:34Speaker 2: very honored that we sort of have that connection with
- 17:38Speaker 2: the podcast and the radio world. Just what an incredible
- 17:44Speaker 2: connection that's become.
- 17:45Speaker 3: So, yes, it's really growing here. What a span of
- 17:49Speaker 3: 12 years.
- 17:50Speaker 2: And I'm not done yet, but I just want to
- 17:53Speaker 2: take a moment and reflect how much this has been
- 17:55Speaker 2: able to grow.
- 17:56Speaker 3: And I can't do it by myself.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I've got a lot of people that continually support and
- 18:00Speaker 2: encourage me to jump on this microphone. And that's what
- 18:03Speaker 2: keeps me going. Yeah, my own thoughts, but then I
- 18:05Speaker 2: get encouraged by it. You know, when I was at
- 18:08Speaker 2: Queens College, I used to look at the meter of
- 18:11Speaker 2: who was listening.
- 18:11Speaker 3: True story.
- 18:13Speaker 2: And sometimes I get zero people and I get very
- 18:15Speaker 2: frustrated because I have an hour to fill and I'm like,
- 18:17Speaker 2: who am I talking to? Then I just started getting
- 18:20Speaker 2: over that and started getting more confident in what I
- 18:21Speaker 2: was talking about.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Now with this podcast, thanks to all the.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Distribution, 65,000 downloads since 2012. I mean, that's no small feat.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I was excited to get to 50. I'm now ready
- 18:34Speaker 2: to get to 75, right? Yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 4: So, I mean, you've been talking about on your show too.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Road to 35, Road to 35, all the different places
- 18:42Speaker 4: that you visited this year. Is it time now to
- 18:44Speaker 4: start the Road to 70 or Road to 75? Can
- 18:47Speaker 4: we make that a thing?
- 18:48Speaker 3: Drive to 75,000. I'd love that.
- 18:49Speaker 2: And it's so funny. They're like, are you going to
- 18:51Speaker 2: make a GoFundMe to get to that? I'm like, no,
- 18:52Speaker 2: it's not a GoFundMe account. It's really just getting the
- 18:55Speaker 2: podcast listenership. Because as you know, the more podcasts listens,
- 18:59Speaker 2: the more changes this becomes more marketable. I thought One
- 19:01Speaker 2: Leg Up with Alex Garrett was the first step in
- 19:05Speaker 2: making this a more marketable brand.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I kind of was right. My stepdad helped me with
- 19:09Speaker 3: the naming on that.
- 19:10Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, I've got an impact.com
- 19:14Speaker 2: affiliation stuff going on. You can make yourself marketable in branding.
- 19:22Speaker 2: And Ryan, you've done a great job at that.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I try to.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear your advertisers at some point.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Because you've got a good brand to get advertisers from.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Eventually. It's only the beginning.
- 19:35Speaker 3: It's only the beginning.
- 19:36Speaker 2: For now, though, we've got to go back to radio,
- 19:38Speaker 2: but thank you on International Podcasters Day for continually listening
- 19:42Speaker 2: here at One Look Up Alex Media. Follow PAG's perspective
- 19:45Speaker 2: as well at Spreaker and other outlets, and we'll just
- 19:49Speaker 2: keep keeping the conversation going here. But yes, keep AI
- 19:54Speaker 2: out of podcasting. And that's my message on International Podcasting
- 19:58Speaker 2: Day on One Leg of Alex Media.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Guaranteed human.
