Latest / Twin Cities Territory / Twins are eliminated: Our biggest questions for their offseason
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: The inevitable is now official after a split in Anaheim
- 0:05Speaker 1: this weekend. The Twins are eliminated from playoff contention. They
- 0:09Speaker 1: actually won on Sunday when they were still technically alive,
- 0:12Speaker 1: played their best game of the series, an 8-0 win.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And then later that day, the Chicago White Sox beat Detroit,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and that officially did it. Both the White Sox and
- 0:22Speaker 1: Cleveland have now cracked the 80-win mark, and Twins cannot
- 0:25Speaker 1: get there. So no pathway to the central title or
- 0:27Speaker 1: the third wildcard spot. for the twins, which we've seen
- 0:30Speaker 1: coming for a while, but it's now official twin cities, territory,
- 0:33Speaker 1: your Minnesota twins podcast here on the foul territory network. Uh,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and we are headed now into a long off season guys. Uh,
- 0:41Speaker 1: it'll start. We know next Monday, the Sunday regular season
- 0:45Speaker 1: finale will be the final game of the year Sunday
- 0:47Speaker 1: at target field. And these twins will go into 20, 27, uh,
- 0:50Speaker 1: or the off season ahead of 20, 27 with a
- 0:53Speaker 1: lot of questions to sort out. Um, we'll have a
- 0:55Speaker 1: lot of time to talk about all this for sure,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but let's, yeah, Let's tee it up today as we
- 1:00Speaker 1: sit here on this Monday morning. What comes to mind, Dan,
- 1:03Speaker 1: as one of the biggest questions for you for this
- 1:05Speaker 1: team in the offseason?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Probably what the rotation looks like. And that there was
- 1:09Speaker 2: that wrinkle thrown in on Sunday. And I know that
- 1:12Speaker 2: Tyler talked about a little bit, but Bailey over coming
- 1:15Speaker 2: out of the bullpen. And that was, you know, becoming
- 1:18Speaker 2: the 14th pitcher to get a save this season for
- 1:20Speaker 2: the Twins, which isn't. growing team record, but they won't
- 1:24Speaker 2: catch unless they have three more guys they can throw
- 1:27Speaker 2: out there randomly and get three more wins. They won't
- 1:31Speaker 2: set the all-time record, which was the downbacks from last year.
- 1:34Speaker 2: But anyways, the fact that Bailey came out of the bullpen,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I mean, look, we're looking at this rotation for next
- 1:40Speaker 2: year and it's Pablo Lopez has come back and Mick
- 1:42Speaker 2: Abel's going to come back and what are they going
- 1:45Speaker 2: to do with Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober because Connor
- 1:49Speaker 2: Prelip looks pretty good and Dean Kramer has more team
- 1:52Speaker 2: control and Zebby Matthews certainly should be in consideration.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Is there an eighth guy? Is that all eight? I
- 1:59Speaker 3: think that's all of them.
- 2:01Speaker 4: That's enough to make it a question.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They're eight, you know, and what are you going to
- 2:06Speaker 2: do with that? Especially with Joe Ryan with one year
- 2:10Speaker 2: left and Bailey Ober also.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Getting up there.
- 2:13Speaker 2: It's certainly a question that they will have to address.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And the fact that Bailey came out of the bullpen
- 2:19Speaker 2: with seven games to go, suggests maybe that's what he's
- 2:23Speaker 2: going to do the rest of the season.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I don't know what that means for next year.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Dan's at Midway Airport, by the way. Everybody, if you're
- 2:30Speaker 1: watching on YouTube, he's on his way to San Francisco
- 2:34Speaker 1: for the final road series of the season. Tyler, what
- 2:36Speaker 1: about you?
- 2:38Speaker 4: Yeah, to Dan's point, the rotation looks great. Considering it's
- 2:44Speaker 4: a lot of pieces to juggle and a lot of
- 2:46Speaker 4: what-ifs and things like that, It's one of those, like
- 2:52Speaker 4: we talked about, the left-handed hitting outfielders. They're going to
- 2:55Speaker 4: have a lot of options in the outfield to pick from,
- 2:58Speaker 4: some moves to make, some decisions on some guys that
- 3:00Speaker 4: they really like, I'm sure, are going to have to
- 3:02Speaker 4: move on from. It's a good problem to have, unfortunately,
- 3:07Speaker 4: for the Twins. You've got a lot of guys that
- 3:10Speaker 4: are good, that are maybe ready to be full-time big
- 3:13Speaker 4: leaguers or ready to get a full shot. Even a
- 3:16Speaker 4: guy like Roden comes up yesterday, and still bangs out
- 3:19Speaker 4: like three hits. It's just like, you have all these
- 3:22Speaker 4: guys and it's like, what do we do with them? Um,
- 3:25Speaker 4: you know, and, and the, the real wrinkle of everything
- 3:27Speaker 4: is going to end up being this, the lockout situation
- 3:30Speaker 4: with the CBA. Um, you know, hopefully they can get
- 3:33Speaker 4: some things on paper before that starts, but, uh, it
- 3:37Speaker 4: cuts off a lot of communication and discussions to be had. And, um,
- 3:40Speaker 4: you know, the plans I'm sure like exit meetings will
- 3:43Speaker 4: probably start this week. You know, with some guys, you know,
- 3:46Speaker 4: Shelty kind of sitting down. I'm sure Jay-Z and whoever
- 3:49Speaker 4: else will be on the road. You know, maybe some
- 3:52Speaker 4: will be, I guess, at last home series. But, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 4: it's always a weird time of year. But I think
- 3:58Speaker 4: they made the right moves getting the young guys up
- 3:59Speaker 4: this year, especially, and getting a lot of opportunities to
- 4:03Speaker 4: see guys against big leaguers. And, you know, you hope
- 4:06Speaker 4: guys come back from the DL or IL, you know,
- 4:09Speaker 4: all the respective surgeries they've had. There's going to be
- 4:12Speaker 4: a lot of movement going on next spring. um you
- 4:15Speaker 4: know a lot of good things a lot of guys
- 4:17Speaker 4: fighting for jobs and that's what you want that makes
- 4:19Speaker 4: the team good.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah certainly a lot of guys to to dive into
- 4:24Speaker 1: individually sort of about where where their place will be
- 4:26Speaker 1: on the team going forward which again we'll have a
- 4:29Speaker 1: few months to to look deeper into all that but
- 4:31Speaker 1: i'd say uh in addition to those questions i wrote
- 4:34Speaker 1: down three because i knew you guys would take two
- 4:36Speaker 1: of them uh in some fashion or another but I
- 4:39Speaker 1: think on the offensive side, I'm very curious about what's
- 4:43Speaker 1: next with Royce Lewis. They obviously have moved him around
- 4:48Speaker 1: the field at first base. He looked so good after
- 4:51Speaker 1: he had that AAA reset for a while. And then
- 4:54Speaker 1: in the last 30 or so games, it's really gone
- 4:56Speaker 1: downhill again. He's got a 450 OPS since mid-August. Still
- 5:01Speaker 1: striking out a lot. And just not the production you
- 5:04Speaker 1: want at first base for sure. But I don't know.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I have a hard time saying move on from a
- 5:10Speaker 1: former number one pick.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yeah, those are the guys we like that may have
- 5:15Speaker 4: to move.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Right. No, the production at first base, if that's where
- 5:20Speaker 2: they keep him, has to be greater. They need, I
- 5:24Speaker 2: don't know, 30 home runs. I don't know if that's
- 5:26Speaker 2: the standard, if that's realistic at first base anymore.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Like how many guys actually hit 30.
- 5:31Speaker 2: But you want that prototype, that run producer, and you
- 5:35Speaker 2: want someone that can hit and field That's the one part.
- 5:41Speaker 2: If you can combine Josh Bell and Royce Lewis, you
- 5:43Speaker 2: have the perfect first baseman. Josh Bell's over 90 RBIs
- 5:47Speaker 2: and coming through in big spots and been a good,
- 5:51Speaker 2: consistent run producer. Royce Lewis has the defensive component of
- 5:55Speaker 2: it down, but the offensive side has certainly been missing.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I think that's a real question.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Without looking too deep into it, you look around and
- 6:06Speaker 2: Brooks Lee has been phenomenal at third base, and that's set.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Kalen Culpepper is your shortstop.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Cody Clemons, I can't imagine them moving forward without him
- 6:17Speaker 2: being part of the team, given what he means inside
- 6:19Speaker 2: and all the clutch home runs. He's almost at 30
- 6:21Speaker 2: home runs, so he's probably second base, and your outfield
- 6:24Speaker 2: is well set.
- 6:26Speaker 3: So first base is kind of that one.
- 6:29Speaker 2: undefined area you would think dh especially after byron buxton
- 6:32Speaker 2: had surgery and by the way we talked about that
- 6:35Speaker 2: long winter and no communication um seems gonna have to
- 6:39Speaker 2: get its ducks kind of lined up with byron in
- 6:41Speaker 2: a row because he's gonna be in rehabbing this hip
- 6:46Speaker 2: with a lockout going on and you know, obviously there's
- 6:50Speaker 2: good medical professionals. They're going to send him ahead of
- 6:52Speaker 2: time to someone that they trust. But I mean, like
- 6:54Speaker 2: that is a big deal for, uh, this off season
- 6:58Speaker 2: because Byron's hip means so much, but yeah, there, there
- 7:01Speaker 2: are quite a few questions to be answered as we, uh,
- 7:04Speaker 2: turn the page.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And the bullpen as well. Uh, you know, right. So,
- 7:08Speaker 1: so much of the first half of the season, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: Andrew Morris and Andres Gomez settled into those backend roles.
- 7:15Speaker 1: They've struggled in the second half. Uh, Jeff Hoffman has
- 7:18Speaker 1: been a great addition for sure. Uh, the, the other
- 7:22Speaker 1: additions to the bullpen have been more hit and miss. Uh,
- 7:25Speaker 1: Tommy Nance was a rollercoaster again the other day, uh,
- 7:28Speaker 1: got out of it and got the job done. But, um,
- 7:31Speaker 1: so it seems like, you know, did those guys just
- 7:33Speaker 1: hit a wall? Will they bounce back and be just
- 7:35Speaker 1: fine next season? And if they, and maybe more importantly,
- 7:39Speaker 1: how do they stop them from hitting a wall again
- 7:40Speaker 1: next year, if that is the case and same for
- 7:43Speaker 1: Joe Ryan to no less. Um, So a lot to
- 7:47Speaker 1: work through. And we have 20 or 30 episodes coming
- 7:50Speaker 1: up to do that. But I don't know. Did we
- 7:54Speaker 1: miss anything?
- 7:54Speaker 3: I don't know. I think we're good on that.
- 7:58Speaker 4: That's a lot of bases. That's a lot of bases.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Every facet of the team has a major question.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I did want to say, I had been thinking about
- 8:07Speaker 2: you guys over the weekend when they finally got eliminated
- 8:09Speaker 2: because I kind of felt like this was like the
- 8:11Speaker 2: contest in Seinfeld.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And I.
- 8:14Speaker 2: like i've been sleeping great because i was like i'm
- 8:16Speaker 2: out like two weeks.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Ago and you guys were just holding out hope and i.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I hope you're out there watching william shatner heavy metal
- 8:26Speaker 1: concerts in the mud while.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Tyler and i are still hanging out by the mud
- 8:31Speaker 2: this is not a joke when i say this they
- 8:33Speaker 2: were so ill prepared for two days of rain i
- 8:36Speaker 2: have never like physically walking through mud ankle deep at
- 8:40Speaker 2: one point yesterday. Like it felt like I was ice
- 8:42Speaker 2: skating on mud. It was pretty much the most disgusting thing.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Do you have proper footwear on?
- 8:48Speaker 3: I did not. I was an idiot. I was an idiot.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I had, fortunately I did have proper footwear in that
- 8:54Speaker 2: it was an old pair of sneakers that I was
- 8:56Speaker 2: willing to throw out if anything happened.
- 8:58Speaker 4: And man, those are somewhere on the.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Way to, yeah. Well, it was entertaining though.
- 9:06Speaker 2: William Shatner rocking through inner Sandman was pretty amazing.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Dan is now bragging about being the first to bail
- 9:13Speaker 1: on the 4.3 percenters, which tells you all you need
- 9:16Speaker 1: to know the true 4.3 percenters out there knew that
- 9:19Speaker 1: Dan was an imposter the whole time. And there we go. But, uh,
- 9:23Speaker 1: seriously to all, all of those, uh, all of you
- 9:25Speaker 1: who followed along with our 4.3 percenter shtick, uh, we
- 9:29Speaker 1: appreciate it. It was a fun time. It was, uh,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I did not expect them to still be in it
- 9:32Speaker 1: as of the final few weeks of the season. So, um,
- 9:36Speaker 1: In that respect, it was entertaining. Obviously, as we've talked
- 9:39Speaker 1: about many times, that was largely due to the crappy
- 9:42Speaker 1: American League, and it masked a lot of bigger problems.
- 9:46Speaker 4: A lot of teams, too, for that matter. I'm in Houston,
- 9:50Speaker 4: and the fans aren't showing up yet because they're not
- 9:55Speaker 4: any good. It's like, well, they're still going to make
- 9:57Speaker 4: low season. Like they're still in it guys. It's just
- 10:00Speaker 4: a weird, everyone's afraid to get excited because they know
- 10:03Speaker 4: how bad everyone actually is. It's, it's been, it's weirdly entertaining.
- 10:09Speaker 1: There was a lot of interesting stuff still from the
- 10:11Speaker 1: weekend on the field for the twins. We'll talk about
- 10:14Speaker 1: that in just a sec. If you like what you hear,

- 10:26Speaker 1: eventful offseason. Appreciate you following along. We'll be right back.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So, Jay, do you ever find yourself crashing in the afternoon,
- 10:36Speaker 2: needing a boost, but not wanting to have caffeine that
- 10:38Speaker 2: you know is going to ruin your sleep?
- 10:41Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, definitely.
- 10:42Speaker 5: I found myself on the golf course a lot lately.
- 10:44Speaker 5: And sometimes, you know, it can be long days out there.
- 10:47Speaker 5: So I reach in my golf bag. I keep the Ultra.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Focus pouch right here with me. Keep it in my
- 10:51Speaker 5: golf bag. And it's part of my golf bag, as
- 10:55Speaker 5: I said.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 5: And so what are some of your favorite effects of
- 10:58Speaker 5: the Ultra pouches? Definitely, you know, gives me a little
- 11:02Speaker 5: bit of focus, that little bit of energy that I'm
- 11:04Speaker 5: looking for. And obviously not having any caffeine in it
- 11:08Speaker 5: is always a plus for me. So I enjoy those things.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Ultra is the ultimate guilt-free pouch, delivering instant focus and
- 11:13Speaker 5: mental clarity without nicotine or caffeine. New customers can use

- 11:36Speaker 1: All right. Twins, as we said, a split this weekend
- 11:40Speaker 1: against Anaheim. One on Anaheim. Let me see, Friday and
- 11:44Speaker 1: Sunday and then extra innings losses on Thursday and Saturday.
- 11:47Speaker 1: We already talked a bit about Thursday's game on Friday's show,
- 11:50Speaker 1: but the focus of Friday's show was Walker Jenkins because he,
- 11:56Speaker 1: after we had just done a show, saying, is it
- 11:59Speaker 1: time to worry about him? He hit a game-tying over
- 12:02Speaker 1: in the ninth inning on Thursday, and he did not
- 12:05Speaker 1: stop there, guys. Nine hits and 17 at-bats over the weekend.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Was it 17?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yep. um it was incredible hit another homer um i'm
- 12:14Speaker 1: forgetting which day that was saturday sunday.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I think it was uh i think it was thursday
- 12:20Speaker 2: it was friday.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah friday yeah um so heck of a weekend for
- 12:23Speaker 1: him he is now um he has he's the all-time
- 12:29Speaker 1: leading hitter by ops in angel stadium history 1.438 probably
- 12:35Speaker 1: doesn't qualify after only four games but still um pretty
- 12:38Speaker 1: nice yeah.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Yeah, take it to the hall.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah, raised his batting average 121 points. All in all, yes,
- 12:47Speaker 1: I know it's against the Angels, but you had to
- 12:50Speaker 1: find the swing somewhere. And who cares exactly?
- 12:52Speaker 2: Wait, wait, wait. Reed Detmers was on the mound. Urena
- 12:54Speaker 2: was on the mound. These guys are like good pitchers.
- 12:56Speaker 2: This is not like, okay, look, this is not, just
- 12:59Speaker 2: because they're a bad team doesn't mean they're, pitchers still
- 13:02Speaker 2: have the pride out there. They're like, they want to
- 13:04Speaker 2: get you out. They don't want to look like idiots.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And Walker Jenkins, like those, those count. regardless of who
- 13:11Speaker 2: they're playing at this point. Although the Giants resemble a
- 13:14Speaker 2: little bit of a quad A team, so maybe you
- 13:16Speaker 2: can keep it going in San Francisco.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Be careful.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Look, they wanted this team to.
- 13:22Speaker 2: The Twins were hoping that Walker Jenkins would give them
- 13:25Speaker 2: just a little bit of a glimpse of this.
- 13:27Speaker 3: They were pleased with what he said about his headspace.
- 13:30Speaker 3: They were pleased with the fact that he was confident.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And they weren't concerned. They knew he would turn it around.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Even if it was next year, they were willing to
- 13:38Speaker 2: concede that. But to get the results as quickly and
- 13:41Speaker 2: to have them have four good games like this and
- 13:43Speaker 2: just show a little bit of what it looks like.
- 13:45Speaker 3: And it does look an awful lot like Joe Maurer,
- 13:48Speaker 3: except with more power.
- 13:49Speaker 2: And I don't know that it's like a ton more power,
- 13:53Speaker 2: but I think there's like 20 homer power in there, 15,
- 13:55Speaker 2: 20 homer power. But spraying the ball everywhere, uses the
- 14:00Speaker 2: whole field and knows the zone well and knows what
- 14:04Speaker 2: he can hit. And I mean, this looks fun. Like
- 14:07Speaker 2: this was exactly what they were hoping to get from him.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And so it relieves that one question for them before,
- 14:14Speaker 2: can he do this even like, is he going to
- 14:16Speaker 2: scare off? And I think when you get a sense
- 14:19Speaker 2: of a guy, like when they get a hot streak going,
- 14:21Speaker 2: you can see how all encompassing it is. Then, you know,
- 14:24Speaker 2: all right, it's in there and, and he's going to
- 14:27Speaker 2: figure this out. And I think they were just hoping
- 14:29Speaker 2: for a spark before it ended. I don't think they
- 14:32Speaker 2: expected it to be that quick, but it was, and
- 14:34Speaker 2: it's great for them.
- 14:37Speaker 1: During that one for 33 slump or whatever it was,
- 14:41Speaker 1: there was a portion of that where he was one
- 14:45Speaker 1: for 25 with 14 strikeouts in that stretch. And he
- 14:48Speaker 1: only struck out once this weekend. So really, I mean,
- 14:52Speaker 1: just night and day. And, you know, it's one series, Tyler,
- 14:56Speaker 1: we'll see. But like, yeah, to Dan's point, we said,
- 15:01Speaker 1: why should you still watch this team after it became
- 15:03Speaker 1: clear that they were not going to make the playoffs?
- 15:04Speaker 1: And this was one of the biggest things.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, he was in the leadoff spot yesterday. Like,
- 15:10Speaker 4: that tells you they're already like, all right, bud, here
- 15:13Speaker 4: you go. Like, we know what we've got. They are
- 15:16Speaker 4: clearly trusting him, wanting him to get a lot of
- 15:19Speaker 4: at-bats right now. You know, and the results showed. Like,
- 15:22Speaker 4: even the broken bat hits, you know, it's like that.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Kieschel's been that at times. You know, Jenkins can be
- 15:29Speaker 4: that guy if you want to alternate him, you know,
- 15:31Speaker 4: depending on who's pitching or whatever. But those are two guys–
- 15:34Speaker 4: that are great pieces to have at the top of
- 15:36Speaker 4: the lineup and they're table setters. You know, Jenkins got speed. He's,
- 15:40Speaker 4: you know, the lefty, all the things that you want
- 15:42Speaker 4: in a, you know, a historic, you know, lead off batter.
- 15:46Speaker 4: You know, he's, he's got all the things like Dan said,
- 15:49Speaker 4: he's got, he's got some juice. Like, you know, we're
- 15:52Speaker 4: kind of comping him to MVP Joe at this point,
- 15:54Speaker 4: you know, when he hit his 30 homers. So it's like,
- 15:57Speaker 4: if that guy can hit 20 and play center field
- 15:59Speaker 4: and be, you know, just a fire starter every day, like,
- 16:03Speaker 4: That's what you want in a first-rounder. That's what you
- 16:06Speaker 4: want in a top-10 prospect, all the things he is.
- 16:11Speaker 4: He showed it this weekend, and if he can just
- 16:13Speaker 4: keep doing that and finish strong, I think there's nothing
- 16:17Speaker 4: but positives in the future because he went through the
- 16:21Speaker 4: big lull already. He got his hand into him a
- 16:25Speaker 4: little bit, and he saw it, and he powered through it,
- 16:29Speaker 4: and he stayed positive. That's the toughest thing in baseball.
- 16:31Speaker 4: You talk to anybody who's ever played, It's the mental
- 16:34Speaker 4: grind of showing up every day after getting a loss
- 16:39Speaker 4: handed to you over and over again. It's like you
- 16:42Speaker 4: just have to keep going, and he did, and he
- 16:43Speaker 4: stayed positive, which is the hardest part. It's easy to
- 16:46Speaker 4: get into a dark place and go down the rabbit hole,
- 16:49Speaker 4: and he's coming out looking great and looking like the
- 16:52Speaker 4: guy we called up. That's the spark we needed, and
- 16:55Speaker 4: he's here. It's just a week too late.
- 16:58Speaker 1: You've got to build up to being able to stand
- 17:00Speaker 1: for nine innings.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Right, Dan? You do.
- 17:03Speaker 1: You really do.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Why are you trying to give me that jacket back?
- 17:06Speaker 3: I don't want the green jacket for– anyways.
- 17:08Speaker 1: That's your statement.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Wonderful. Five years ago. We just had a ceremony commemorating
- 17:16Speaker 3: the moment. So that's great.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. Anniversary. You got to take advantage.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Also this weekend, the Twins shut out the Angels twice
- 17:27Speaker 1: and obviously in the two wins. The starting pitchers those days,
- 17:30Speaker 1: Connor Prelip and Dean Kramer. It was career best seven
- 17:35Speaker 1: innings pitch for Connor Prelip. He gave up– oops, I
- 17:39Speaker 1: messed that up. That's three hits combined between them, not
- 17:41Speaker 1: one hit. But Prelip gave up two. Kramer gave up
- 17:44Speaker 1: one hit in six innings, no earned runs, and 16
- 17:47Speaker 1: combined strikeouts between the two of them. Dan, I guess
- 17:51Speaker 1: I'll start with Prelip. For a guy who has been
- 17:55Speaker 1: on injury watch– pitch count limit to have him come
- 17:58Speaker 1: out in late September and throw seven shutout innings, again,
- 18:01Speaker 1: against the Angels, but who cares? Mike Trout's in the lineup.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Zach Netto's in the lineup. That's got to be pretty
- 18:06Speaker 1: encouraging for the Twins how to do the offseason.
- 18:09Speaker 3: He's flourishing. He'll run into issues.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I think maybe two starts ago, he got into the
- 18:17Speaker 2: fifth with a shutout and gave up, or maybe with
- 18:19Speaker 2: one run allowed and gave up two runs. His command
- 18:23Speaker 2: kind of got away from him. You can tell at
- 18:24Speaker 2: times where where the physical stuff is catching up to him.
- 18:27Speaker 2: But he, like, has held his stuff. It's been good. And,
- 18:33Speaker 2: you know, this is a guy that they're keeping a
- 18:35Speaker 2: close eye on. And we're not talking about just velocity,
- 18:38Speaker 2: and we're not talking about just pitch location. But they're,
- 18:42Speaker 2: you know, measuring his, like, intangibles. They're measuring how, like,
- 18:47Speaker 2: what is it, jumps? What do you do, Duff, in
- 18:50Speaker 2: between starts?
- 18:51Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, the force plates.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 4: They make you jump on the sensors and it reads
- 18:57Speaker 4: your pressure into the ground. And you know, they tell.
- 18:59Speaker 2: You, they want to make sure you're not weak leg
- 19:01Speaker 2: and things, right. They want to make sure that you
- 19:03Speaker 2: have the leg muscle to go out there. So you're
- 19:05Speaker 2: not like hurting your upper, like throwing all arm essentially.
- 19:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 4: It all starts from ground.
- 19:10Speaker 3: That's for sure.
- 19:11Speaker 1: It does.
- 19:12Speaker 2: And, and so I think, you know, they're keeping an
- 19:14Speaker 2: eye on this and letting them go. And man, he
- 19:16Speaker 2: is just going and it's great. And it's given him
- 19:19Speaker 2: so many minutes, the moments this year. I mean, this
- 19:22Speaker 2: is a guy that taught himself the curveball at the
- 19:24Speaker 2: start of the season. So, you know, in January, he's
- 19:27Speaker 2: been throwing that curveball since January to give him another pitch.
- 19:29Speaker 2: There's a lot of room for growth with him. This
- 19:33Speaker 2: is sort of like silly buddy right out of the
- 19:35Speaker 2: can or Play-Doh right out of the can, like where
- 19:38Speaker 2: you get to mold it and build it. Like this
- 19:42Speaker 2: has been, yeah, this has been a very encouraging, I mean,
- 19:45Speaker 2: they put that graphic up there today about how many
- 19:48Speaker 2: innings he'd thrown and his inning in each of the
- 19:50Speaker 2: previous five or six seasons and he's now surpassed or
- 19:54Speaker 2: he's close to surpassing the past five seasons.
- 19:57Speaker 3: It's insane where he is and that he's able to
- 20:00Speaker 3: do this.
- 20:01Speaker 2: It's really nice to see and he's had a very
- 20:04Speaker 2: good first season.
- 20:07Speaker 6: Yeah, Tyler, the The ERA overall is still near five,
- 20:11Speaker 6: but again, in September, four outings, only two were starts technically.
- 20:18Speaker 2: What's the strikeouts per innings?
- 20:22Speaker 1: 19 strikeouts overall, 125 in 120 innings, so a little
- 20:29Speaker 1: over one per year. But a 2.11 ERA in 21
- 20:33Speaker 1: innings in September for a guy who you're worried about
- 20:36Speaker 1: if he can hold up, pretty nice.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:38Speaker 4: And I think they've manipulated the schedule to keep him
- 20:42Speaker 4: fresh and give him opportunities to kind of get some
- 20:45Speaker 4: extra things. He had a little blister flare up midseason.
- 20:50Speaker 4: That's seemingly in the past. It's looking like he fortunately
- 20:55Speaker 4: has figured out a good plan for himself to be healthy.
- 20:58Speaker 4: A lot of guys have issues with injuries. It's just
- 21:02Speaker 4: the way of the world now. Guys are thrown so hard.
- 21:05Speaker 4: you know, and he's maintained his velo. He hasn't had
- 21:08Speaker 4: those outings where it's like, you know, he's down to
- 21:10Speaker 4: 91 out of nowhere and we're like, what's happening. You know,
- 21:13Speaker 4: he's had electric stuff all year. I mean, you're making
- 21:16Speaker 4: good hitters across the league look bad on your slider
- 21:18Speaker 4: and your breaking ball. And then, you know, he's still,
- 21:21Speaker 4: he's such a calm presence on the mound. And then
- 21:24Speaker 4: it just, it comes out hot, man. He's, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 4: he's ripping it 97 up to 99 at times. Like
- 21:29Speaker 4: he's got electric stuff. They're going to be careful with them.
- 21:33Speaker 4: I know it's still next year, even, and, and, That
- 21:35Speaker 4: makes me think, too, like there's a world where maybe
- 21:38Speaker 4: to start the year they roll out with the sixth
- 21:40Speaker 4: starter or try to, like, spread some of these guys
- 21:42Speaker 4: out because you're going to have so many guys coming
- 21:45Speaker 4: off of surgeries. Like, you're going to have to figure
- 21:47Speaker 4: out a way to get them all work and without,
- 21:50Speaker 4: you know, putting the throttle down too quickly. So, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 4: I don't know what the options are. Again, there's people
- 21:55Speaker 4: that pay more money than me to figure that stuff out. But,
- 21:59Speaker 4: you know, it's exciting because he's a guy that I
- 22:03Speaker 4: don't know that anyone thought he was going to be this.
- 22:06Speaker 4: They knew he was going to be good. He's a
- 22:07Speaker 4: prospect-y guy. But to make big league hitters at times
- 22:10Speaker 4: look as bad as he does, it's going to be
- 22:14Speaker 4: a great piece to have going into next year and
- 22:17Speaker 4: have a full, healthy season under his belt. That does
- 22:19Speaker 4: so much for his mentals. He's had surgeries. I think
- 22:23Speaker 4: he's had two Tommy Johns, I think, right? So he's
- 22:26Speaker 4: had his issues. He's now back healthy, had a full
- 22:28Speaker 4: season in the big leagues. He's going to be riding
- 22:31Speaker 4: a pretty good high heading into camp next year.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Dean Kramer was obviously a trade deadline acquisition for the Twins.
- 22:39Speaker 1: At the time, it was just sort of, we got
- 22:42Speaker 1: injuries everywhere. Let's shore up this rotation however we can. Now,
- 22:46Speaker 1: nine starts for the Twins, 3-8-0 ERA for the guy
- 22:49Speaker 1: that you brought in just to patch up the back
- 22:51Speaker 1: end of the rotation. Pretty darn good. Best start of
- 22:54Speaker 1: the year for him for the Twins, well, I think overall, too,
- 22:57Speaker 1: on Sunday. Six innings, one hit, eight strikeouts. And then
- 23:01Speaker 1: Bailey Ober came in out of the bullpen to clean
- 23:03Speaker 1: that one up. We'll talk about that, too.
- 23:05Speaker 3: And, hey, Joe Ryan pitched well.
- 23:08Speaker 1: So did I.
- 23:10Speaker 2: And Taj, aside from that first thing. So they had
- 23:12Speaker 2: really good starting pitching in this series.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Not like Kramer. I mean, you mentioned the 3-8 OER. Look,
- 23:18Speaker 3: they got him. They knew he was a 4.2 OER.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Even though he had like a 6-5 and a 7
- 23:23Speaker 2: starts at Baltimore this year, they knew he was hurt.
- 23:26Speaker 3: They knew he wasn't what he normally is.
- 23:28Speaker 2: And that he could come in and be the guy
- 23:30Speaker 2: he's been, basically, with the Twins.
- 23:31Speaker 3: They hoped there was a little bit better. Like, you know, 4-2.
- 23:33Speaker 2: ERA in the AL East, they were hoping maybe it
- 23:36Speaker 2: dropped a tick. If he's a 4-ERA guy, and he's
- 23:39Speaker 2: giving you 30 starts and six innings at the back
- 23:41Speaker 2: end of your rotation, you're thrilled with that. Like, for,
- 23:45Speaker 2: you know, your fifth starter or your fourth starter, he's
- 23:48Speaker 2: got Velo to do it. He's learning some new tricks
- 23:51Speaker 2: with them that he's applying, so... Like, I don't see
- 23:55Speaker 2: any problem with what the performance has been. There's been
- 23:57Speaker 2: some inconsistency, and he struggled like everybody else a couple
- 24:01Speaker 2: weeks ago, but, like, it's just been solid. And there's–
- 24:06Speaker 2: it's not perfect. Nothing– you've got to figure out, like
- 24:10Speaker 2: Duff was saying, with guys coming off surgery, there's puzzle
- 24:12Speaker 2: pieces to try and figure out how they all fit,
- 24:14Speaker 2: and it's going to be challenging, especially because what are
- 24:16Speaker 2: you really going to– what can you expect from Pablo
- 24:18Speaker 2: Lopez coming off Tommy John next year? Mick Abel– still
- 24:22Speaker 2: hasn't had that first full season under his belt, so
- 24:25Speaker 2: he needs that. But there's pieces on the edge that
- 24:30Speaker 2: help out and make it very interesting. Brilip and Kramer
- 24:32Speaker 2: certainly do that, and Zebby Matthews is interesting. Again, what
- 24:36Speaker 2: they do with Bailey Ober and Joe Ryan are probably
- 24:39Speaker 2: the biggest questions of the offseason at this point.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Speaking of Ober, he pitched the last three innings of
- 24:46Speaker 1: Sunday's win. One hit, three strikeouts, no walks. Nice outing
- 24:50Speaker 1: for him. in relief. Also add him to the list
- 24:54Speaker 1: now of players who've recorded a save for the twins. Tyler,
- 24:59Speaker 1: what did you think of him coming out of the
- 25:01Speaker 1: bullpen yesterday? I don't know.
- 25:04Speaker 4: It's, I think he was out there in case prelips
- 25:07Speaker 4: went shaky, got shaky, you know, whatever had to happen there.
- 25:10Speaker 4: He obviously had a great outing. So he was back
- 25:13Speaker 4: out there yesterday and obviously they had conversations inside, you know,
- 25:18Speaker 4: I'm sure, Words will come out. It happened yesterday, so
- 25:22Speaker 4: I'm sure guys will ask Shelty, maybe even Bailey about it.
- 25:25Speaker 4: And it's a guy, they're probably looking to see maybe
- 25:29Speaker 4: he got a take up in Velo. Maybe it gives
- 25:31Speaker 4: him something to unlock, some mechanical things. Sometimes you need
- 25:36Speaker 4: the situation where, hey, I don't need to throw 90
- 25:40Speaker 4: pitches today. I'm going to throw these three innings and
- 25:42Speaker 4: be done no matter what. And so it gives him
- 25:45Speaker 4: the freedom to go kind of let it fly and
- 25:47Speaker 4: see how it feels. You know, he's another guy he's
- 25:50Speaker 4: had some injuries in the past and they've always been
- 25:53Speaker 4: pretty cautious with him. And I think that's a sign
- 25:56Speaker 4: that maybe they're willing to kind of move on from
- 25:58Speaker 4: that and maybe experiment with him a little bit. You know,
- 26:01Speaker 4: a guy like him, if he's, if he can come
- 26:04Speaker 4: out of the bullpen, if it works out and he's
- 26:07Speaker 4: up to 93, 94, like that's kind of like that
- 26:10Speaker 4: Chris Young back in the day when I was coming
- 26:12Speaker 4: up where, you know, he was throwing literally like 85
- 26:14Speaker 4: coming out of the bullpen, throwing invisible fastballs. Bailey, If
- 26:19Speaker 4: they hang on to him and move him to the pen,
- 26:20Speaker 4: maybe have him be their long guy. That could be
- 26:24Speaker 4: a dominant piece coming out. The guy's almost seven feet tall.
- 26:28Speaker 4: If he can run that heater up to the low
- 26:29Speaker 4: to mid-90s again, that's a big piece potentially. I don't
- 26:33Speaker 4: know what their plans are. That's to be seen, but
- 26:37Speaker 4: it looked pretty good. He popped a 91, I think,
- 26:40Speaker 4: in that first inning. I don't remember all his velos offhand,
- 26:42Speaker 4: but he definitely got a little tick up even just yesterday,
- 26:45Speaker 4: first time out. You know, I'm sure today, you know,
- 26:48Speaker 4: waking up, he'll probably be a little sore, a little
- 26:50Speaker 4: different action than a normal starting routine. So I don't know.
- 26:54Speaker 4: It's a good thing to see. I mean, he's been
- 26:57Speaker 4: an organizational guy for so long. You know, the end
- 27:00Speaker 4: of that road's kind of coming, free agency and arbitration,
- 27:03Speaker 4: all that stuff's on the horizon. So they're making some
- 27:07Speaker 4: moves to maybe get ready for next season, like we're
- 27:09Speaker 4: talking about. Like, you never know. Stranger things have happened.
- 27:13Speaker 4: You know, I showed up to camp to be a
- 27:14Speaker 4: starter one year and ended up in the bullpen and
- 27:17Speaker 4: then throwing the seventh by the end of that season.
- 27:18Speaker 4: So it's, things happen quick.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll, it would be a great piece to have
- 27:25Speaker 1: somebody who can come in in those situations when the
- 27:27Speaker 1: starter doesn't have it, but still feel good. They can
- 27:30Speaker 1: keep the game reachable. Something the twins need for sure.
- 27:34Speaker 1: One more shout out. If you like what you hear,
- 27:35Speaker 1: please follow or subscribe. However you watch or listen, if
- 27:39Speaker 1: you're on YouTube, there is a QR code there on
- 27:42Speaker 1: the screen to make it super easy for you. We
- 27:46Speaker 1: have a long offseason ahead, a lot of Twins baseball
- 27:48Speaker 1: to talk about, and we are looking forward to it.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Should be an eventful few months. Tyler joins me still.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Dan had to bail to catch his flight there at Midway,
- 27:58Speaker 1: but we can bring it on home, the two of us.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Some miscellaneous items from the weekend. First of all, Tyler,
- 28:04Speaker 1: this was perhaps the most eagle-eyed challenge I've ever seen
- 28:07Speaker 1: by Ryan Chambers. Two-strike pitch in the fourth inning. I forget, again,
- 28:14Speaker 1: I'm having... I don't remember which day this was now
- 28:16Speaker 1: as I have it here on the screen.
- 28:17Speaker 4: It looks like it was a night game.
- 28:19Speaker 1: It does look like a night game. So probably Saturday.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Challenge the ball that, man, if you're listening and not watching,
- 28:26Speaker 1: the very tippy top of the strike zone, the corner,
- 28:30Speaker 1: is just like you can't get much closer to being
- 28:33Speaker 1: a ball than that. And somehow it was called a ball.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Jeffers challenged it and got the strike three call. uh, yeah,
- 28:39Speaker 1: I think he's had a pretty good season overall with those.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:43Speaker 4: I think he said like 60% ish. Like, I think
- 28:45Speaker 4: he said at a hundred challenges, I think now, which is,
- 28:48Speaker 4: I mean, compared to other teams, uh, there's, I mean,
- 28:51Speaker 4: there's other teams guys won't even do it for whatever reason,
- 28:54Speaker 4: but yeah, he's been, been great in that. That's a
- 28:57Speaker 4: tribute to him. I mean, as a catcher, you know,
- 29:00Speaker 4: part of the art of the framing was realizing like,
- 29:02Speaker 4: you know, where the strike zone is and being aware
- 29:04Speaker 4: of where pitches are and crossing and, you know, he's confident.
- 29:08Speaker 4: I think that's part of the hardest, probably the hardest
- 29:10Speaker 4: part in doing it is having the confidence to know,
- 29:13Speaker 4: even after you've tried to frame it and manipulate the
- 29:16Speaker 4: zone a little bit to, to know like that was
- 29:19Speaker 4: a strike regardless of what happened. And I think that
- 29:21Speaker 4: we've seen that a lot. He hasn't had anywhere. There's
- 29:24Speaker 4: that hesitation to where he goes to tap. Maybe it's
- 29:26Speaker 4: like he catches it and he's boom, tapping that thing,
- 29:29Speaker 4: looking to the dugout. And so, you know, that's an
- 29:33Speaker 4: undervalued thing. You know, we've talked about it a lot. Um,
- 29:36Speaker 4: you know, I'm sure the off season, you know, MLB
- 29:38Speaker 4: networks and those will talk about things like, you know,
- 29:41Speaker 4: catchers who are really good at it or not. And he's,
- 29:43Speaker 4: he's on the top of that list. And I think
- 29:44Speaker 4: to that matter, Caratini has been really good as well.
- 29:47Speaker 4: So it's, uh, whatever, you know, our, our catching group
- 29:51Speaker 4: behind the scenes has been working on. Um, it seems
- 29:54Speaker 4: like they've got a pretty good plan in place and
- 29:56Speaker 4: hopefully it translates because if he's not back next year,
- 30:00Speaker 4: you know, a lot of those walks turn to strikeouts
- 30:03Speaker 4: or leverage counts swinging back and forth. Like that's a
- 30:06Speaker 4: big piece to have. And it's now it's part of
- 30:09Speaker 4: the game. It's not going anywhere. So it's a, it's
- 30:11Speaker 4: something now I guess catchers will be graded on and,
- 30:14Speaker 4: you know, guys, I guess all off season will be challenging,
- 30:17Speaker 4: you know, pitches in the bullpens that they're catching from guys.
- 30:19Speaker 4: I don't know, but yeah, it's, it's been fun to
- 30:22Speaker 4: watch and it's, it's like I said, it's a useful,
- 30:25Speaker 4: it's super useful and a big momentum swing when it happens.
- 30:27Speaker 4: I mean, as a pitcher, you get behind a guy
- 30:29Speaker 4: 3-1 and instead it's 2-2. That's a huge difference in
- 30:33Speaker 4: an at-bat. It's a huge thing to have. Like I said,
- 30:37Speaker 4: hopefully whoever ends up catching next year full-time, hopefully they
- 30:40Speaker 4: can be half as good as Jeff Spindler.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Another big question for the offseason that we
- 30:45Speaker 1: kind of didn't bring up at the top of the show.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I am a sucker for the old Piranhas draft. twins,
- 30:57Speaker 1: the ones who beat you with hustle and smart defense
- 31:00Speaker 1: and just smart play all around. And there were a
- 31:01Speaker 1: couple of moments this weekend that kind of brought me
- 31:04Speaker 1: back to that. First of all, Luke Kieschel would have
- 31:06Speaker 1: fit right in on that team, always playing his absolute hardest.
- 31:09Speaker 1: But he had a moment in Saturday's game where he had,
- 31:13Speaker 1: it was a broken bat that just snuck past Netto,
- 31:17Speaker 1: I think, into left center field for what should have
- 31:19Speaker 1: just been a single. Walker Jenkins had to check up
- 31:23Speaker 1: on the on the hit to make sure it got
- 31:25Speaker 1: through because he was at second base. They waved him
- 31:27Speaker 1: in and he scored. I'm forgetting who fielded it now
- 31:30Speaker 1: in the outfield, but they, I think maybe Meckler.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Yeah, left fielder.
- 31:35Speaker 1: But he sort of hitched on the throw, didn't know
- 31:38Speaker 1: where to throw it. Meanwhile, Luke Kieschel just kept running
- 31:40Speaker 1: and ended up on second base, which should have been
- 31:43Speaker 1: a routine single. Jenkins, of course, scored. Then Kieschel steals
- 31:47Speaker 1: third base, then scores on an infield grounder with the
- 31:50Speaker 1: infield in. It got past the pitcher, which was enough
- 31:53Speaker 1: for him to break for home and score. And then
- 31:57Speaker 1: in the same game, I believe, no, sorry, Sunday, Ben
- 32:01Speaker 1: Ross scored from first on a stolen base.
- 32:05Speaker 4: That was insane. Yeah. That one was crazy.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So he stole second. The throw from Ballesteros, like, went.
- 32:12Speaker 1: It was a perfect throw, and Neto just.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Didn't touch it. I think Neto tried to deke him.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Because Ross, so I watched it. So Ross comes in.
- 32:20Speaker 4: He didn't slide, first of all, which is– I was like, whoa,
- 32:22Speaker 4: what happened here? So I think Neto or Nito, he
- 32:26Speaker 4: kind of tried to deke him, and then he whiffed
- 32:28Speaker 4: on the catch. And so then the merry-go-round started, and
- 32:33Speaker 4: he just kept going.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it was– so I think it was Jose Siri
- 32:39Speaker 1: in center field, yeah.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:41Speaker 1: He was playing very deep. I'm not forgetting who was up,
- 32:44Speaker 1: but so the ball goes into center field, but it's
- 32:46Speaker 1: kind of, it was Neto hit it with his gloves.
- 32:48Speaker 1: So kind of knocked it down a little bit and
- 32:50Speaker 1: it just died out there.
- 32:51Speaker 4: The urgency wasn't quite there.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And Siri was like jogging his way in, but Ross
- 32:55Speaker 1: was also just jogging to third because why would you
- 32:57Speaker 1: assume you're going to score on an overthrow? Waves him home.
- 33:03Speaker 1: He picks it up and scores pretty easily. Actually. It
- 33:07Speaker 1: was pretty incredible. And again, The Angels played terrible baseball
- 33:11Speaker 1: on Sunday, and that was probably the most shining example
- 33:14Speaker 1: of it. But those Piranhas teams, that's what they did.
- 33:17Speaker 1: They took advantage. If you fell asleep for a second,
- 33:21Speaker 1: they were on top of it, and it was nice
- 33:23Speaker 1: to see. I'm not sure Mr. Ross has a place
- 33:26Speaker 1: on the opening day roster, but obviously Luke Kieschel will
- 33:29Speaker 1: be a major, major centerpiece of next season's team. All right.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Twins are off to San Francisco. Final road trip of
- 33:39Speaker 1: the season. I know they have Zebby Matthews on the
- 33:42Speaker 1: mound tonight and then Taj Bradley tomorrow. At least that's
- 33:45Speaker 1: the schedule and TBD still for Wednesday. We'll be back
- 33:48Speaker 1: with you on Wednesday. I'm not going to preview a
- 33:52Speaker 1: meaningless series at this point, but we'll continue to see
- 33:56Speaker 1: what the youngsters can do, what everybody else can do
- 33:58Speaker 1: to make their cases for getting a good start for
- 34:01Speaker 1: next year. We'll be back with you Wednesday. Friday, we're
- 34:04Speaker 1: going to do our season awards show. And then next week,
- 34:07Speaker 1: programming note, we're going down to two shows a week
- 34:09Speaker 1: now officially with the Twins not going to the postseason.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And I think we decided Monday and Thursday was the day.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Is that what we talked about?
- 34:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that sounded right.
- 34:19Speaker 1: So we're going to shoot for that. Our personal schedules
- 34:21Speaker 1: might mean we have to tweak that once in a while,
- 34:23Speaker 1: but that'll be what we do. Full breakdowns of everybody
- 34:27Speaker 1: and everything going into the offseason, what the Twins need
- 34:29Speaker 1: to do.
- 34:29Speaker 4: The nitty gritty.
- 34:30Speaker 1: The nitty gritty, absolutely. Absolutely. I appreciate everybody listening. One
- 34:34Speaker 1: more time, if you like what you hear, please toss
- 34:36Speaker 1: us a like or subscribe, however you watch or listen.

- 34:41Speaker 1: make it super easy. Thanks for listening to Twin Cities Territory,
- 34:44Speaker 1: and we will catch you on Wednesday. Bye-bye, everybody.
