- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's go to, Oh gosh, who put this in?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Are you sure you want to talk about this?
- 0:05Speaker 1: Are you sure?
- 0:06Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I'm dead inside.
- 0:10Speaker 4: Let's talk about Alabama and FSU in our recap presented
- 0:15Speaker 4: by prize picks a weird game. The delays certainly made
- 0:20Speaker 4: this a weird feeling that Bama fans were telling me
- 0:22Speaker 4: that they were just like walking in. Nobody was scanning
- 0:24Speaker 4: tickets or anything. So when I got to, I, I
- 0:28Speaker 4: didn't have like elite seats, but I was down in
- 0:30Speaker 4: the first level.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:32Speaker 4: And so when I got to my seats, there was
- 0:33Speaker 4: like a little other family sitting there and I was like, ah,
- 0:36Speaker 4: you know, maybe am I in the wrong section? I
- 0:37Speaker 4: knew I wasn't, but they were like, oh yeah, we
- 0:39Speaker 4: just sat here. Cause they were letting everybody in.
- 0:41Speaker 1: And I was like, okay, well go steal somebody else's spot.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Like not mine. But anyway, yeah.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Kind of a weird, a weird vibe to this. And
- 0:50Speaker 4: then a weird start where Florida state looks really good. Um,
- 0:55Speaker 4: stopped Bama a couple of times early scored a couple
- 0:58Speaker 4: of times early Alabama to some field goals. They were
- 1:00Speaker 4: up 21 to six at one point in this game.
- 1:03Speaker 4: And I don't think anybody, I mean, I didn't. And again, I,
- 1:06Speaker 4: even the most optimistic fan, even though I'm kind of
- 1:08Speaker 4: the pessimistic FSU guy, I don't know that anybody thought
- 1:11Speaker 4: the game was over there, but I do think it
- 1:13Speaker 4: was like, okay, we're like. a couple of punches away
- 1:16Speaker 4: from the game getting to be over, right? Like there,
- 1:19Speaker 4: there was a path at that point. We, we talked
- 1:21Speaker 4: about before the game, like, is there a path for
- 1:23Speaker 4: FSU to win this thing? Well, the path was pretty
- 1:27Speaker 4: clearly laid out. They were getting stops on defense and
- 1:29Speaker 4: they were scoring on offense. It's a really simple game
- 1:31Speaker 4: when you break it down like that. Um, everything changed
- 1:35Speaker 4: when Bama remembered, Oh yeah, we can play.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Offense and we can actually throw the ball. Right.
- 1:39Speaker 4: And, uh, I thought Bama tried to establish, I'll get
- 1:43Speaker 4: Cole's take on this, but like, I think obviously they
- 1:47Speaker 4: did a good job running the ball.
- 1:48Speaker 1: They had 250 yards before the sack adjusted stuff, but.
- 1:52Speaker 4: I thought they tried to establish the run a little
- 1:54Speaker 4: bit too much where Florida state was absolutely selling out
- 1:57Speaker 4: for it. And then once Bama realized like, Oh yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 4: we have the best player on the field in Keelan Russell,
- 2:01Speaker 4: you know, at quarterback, like not best player on the field,
- 2:04Speaker 4: but a really elite quarter, a really talented quarterback.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Let's go and use him. And Oh yeah. Florida state's
- 2:10Speaker 1: pass rush is absolutely terrible.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 4: We could stand back here all day and it'd be fine. So,
- 2:15Speaker 4: Once Bama kind of just got back to that, it
- 2:18Speaker 4: was still competitive, I guess. Bama scored on nine straight drives.
- 2:24Speaker 4: I obviously have some issues with FSU's defense, but you
- 2:27Speaker 4: have to have some level of competence to get that done.
- 2:32Speaker 4: The entire Big Ten played well, besides Michigan State, played
- 2:35Speaker 4: like nobody this week. None of them scored on nine
- 2:38Speaker 4: straight possessions, except for Oregon, who played a local high school.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Portland State.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Yeah, so there you go, right? It's really hard to
- 2:47Speaker 4: put nine straight scoring drives together.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Bama did that.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Their offense was great. Florida State's defense was awful. And
- 2:55Speaker 4: it really wasn't much of a competition at that point.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, number one, that second rain delay may have been
- 3:02Speaker 3: a gift from the college football gods saying, we can't
- 3:05Speaker 3: live in a world where Mike Norvell is not going
- 3:08Speaker 3: to eventually get fired. Because they really... He will start
- 3:11Speaker 3: to play better offense after that. Now, they started to
- 3:13Speaker 3: find their groove right before that, but that really was
- 3:16Speaker 3: like the awakening of, and I don't know what was
- 3:18Speaker 3: said inside of the locker room.
- 3:21Speaker 5: I don't know what adjustments were made.
- 3:23Speaker 3: All I can tell you is that second lightning delay
- 3:26Speaker 3: kind of got Alabama out of its funk and right
- 3:28Speaker 3: back into gear because that's when they started rattling off,
- 3:30Speaker 3: scoring drives and looking like the Alabama of old. What
- 3:33Speaker 3: TJ said I think is really important here, but.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I will give you this.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I don't think that he was the best player on
- 3:39Speaker 3: the field yesterday. in terms of what we know. Could
- 3:42Speaker 3: you agree that he is the most upside of any
- 3:44Speaker 3: player on that field in Keelan Russell?
- 3:47Speaker 1: I mean, it's him or Cromwell, in my opinion, but yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 1: One for each team is fine.
- 3:52Speaker 3: And you kind of got to see that. I mean, again,
- 3:55Speaker 3: they tried to establish the run, and they were able to.
- 3:57Speaker 3: But I give a lot of credit to the run
- 3:58Speaker 3: blocking up front. For the first time in a while,
- 4:01Speaker 3: it felt like Alabama's offensive line Look the part of
- 4:05Speaker 3: Alabama's offensive line.
- 4:07Speaker 5: They were going up to the second and third level.
- 4:10Speaker 3: They were taking out defensive linemen and trying to get
- 4:12Speaker 3: the linebackers and create running lanes for Treson Brown and
- 4:16Speaker 3: EJ Crowell. And then you throw in what you got
- 4:18Speaker 3: with Daniel Hill. And they were just making it clear,
- 4:21Speaker 3: we're going to physically whoop you in those positions. And
- 4:24Speaker 3: then when you eventually started to have those moments and
- 4:27Speaker 3: they started to realize, we're just going to have to
- 4:29Speaker 3: fall for it. Okay, that's when you get the big
- 4:32Speaker 3: deep shot down the field to Lottie Brooks. That's when
- 4:34Speaker 3: you find Rico Scott for a gain in 19. That's
- 4:36Speaker 3: when Caleb Edwards gets involved. I mean, Cedarian Morgan, his
- 4:39Speaker 3: first play at Alabama is a touchdown against a team
- 4:43Speaker 3: that probably would.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Have loved to have had him on their roster.
- 4:45Speaker 3: So credit where credit's due to Alabama finding the adjustments
- 4:48Speaker 3: in the second half and then Keelan Russell just looking
- 4:50Speaker 3: like Keelan Russell.
- 4:51Speaker 5: I think that you came away yesterday.
- 4:52Speaker 3: If you still had any reservations about Alabama making the
- 4:56Speaker 3: call to go with a young quarterback that is going
- 4:59Speaker 3: to learn how to play within a system on the
- 5:01Speaker 3: fly while still breaking down the ins and outs of
- 5:04Speaker 3: just what is in the SEC.
- 5:06Speaker 5: The reason why.
- 5:06Speaker 3: He's the starting quarterback is that 53-yard run. There are
- 5:09Speaker 3: just things that he does. There are just things that
- 5:11Speaker 3: he has that while Austin Mack is a solid starter,
- 5:14Speaker 3: you can turn to him and say, You got this
- 5:17Speaker 3: and you can do these things. Alabama with the run
- 5:20Speaker 3: game is very dangerous. Alabama hasn't had a run game
- 5:22Speaker 3: for the last two years underneath Kalen DeBoer. And so
- 5:24Speaker 3: now you throw in the offense with a quarterback that
- 5:27Speaker 3: is supposed to run a Kalen DeBoer system with.
- 5:29Speaker 5: The wide receivers that are starting to hit their stride.
- 5:31Speaker 3: And some of them are getting more healthy because Noah
- 5:34Speaker 3: Rogers is on the brink of coming on back in.
- 5:35Speaker 5: A.K. Deers on the brink of coming back on in.
- 5:37Speaker 5: You're starting to get good tight end play.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And tight end play that's physical throughout contact, whether it
- 5:42Speaker 3: be in run blocking or pass protection.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Hey guys, just a real quick break from the video
- 5:47Speaker 4: to tell you, go check out the prize picks app.
- 5:49Speaker 4: We tell you about them all the time, but all
- 5:50Speaker 4: new users over there who play $ 5 get 150 in
- 5:54Speaker 4: lineups instantly. If they win using code HMA on their
- 5:58Speaker 4: first lineup, it's not just lineups though. It's team picks
- 6:01Speaker 4: as well. We've got the Heisman odds right here. Those
- 6:04Speaker 4: continue to update Trinidad. Number one, you've got Darian Mensah
- 6:08Speaker 4: up there at number two, Camario Taylor, shout out Mississippi state.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Number three, you've got Jeremiah Smith, CJ Carr, Jaden Baugh,
- 6:15Speaker 4: all the way up to No. 6, Arch Manning, Gunnar Stockton,
- 6:17Speaker 4: Julian Sayen, Malachi Toney, Will Hammond, a ton of names here.
- 6:21Speaker 4: You can go play team picks as well. You can
- 6:23Speaker 4: take first team to score. You can take a bunch
- 6:25Speaker 4: of different picks on the PrizePicks app. Go check them out.
- 6:30Speaker 4: We appreciate them for their support. Now back to the
- 6:32Speaker 4: clip on the Power 2.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And you start to see the vision in place. Alabama
- 6:38Speaker 3: being able to average 45 points to begin the year,
- 6:41Speaker 3: is impressive because of now you're saying this is what
- 6:44Speaker 3: we were promised from Kalen DeBoer. Now on the flip side,
- 6:49Speaker 3: there's just a reality in a world where Kalen DeBoer
- 6:52Speaker 3: was always going to struggle with Mike bleeping Norvell. And
- 6:56Speaker 3: I can promise you he is thankful that he never
- 6:58Speaker 3: has to see him again or Deuce Robinson.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Because they didn't have an answer. They simply didn't.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I don't know what it is about Alabama specifically in
- 7:06Speaker 3: the last few years.
- 7:08Speaker 5: But a former Auburn person.
- 7:11Speaker 3: And somehow a damn wide receiver has your number.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Because of last season, it was Gus Malzahn. This season,
- 7:18Speaker 5: it's Ashton Daniels. Ashton Daniels, if we all just.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Remember for a second, threw for 125 yards against SMU.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Alabama pitched a 32-0 shutout in the second half against
- 7:31Speaker 3: Kentucky that rolled into Kyle Field and beat the breaks
- 7:35Speaker 3: off of Texas A & M. And you could not
- 7:37Speaker 3: convince me in a million years if I knew nothing
- 7:41Speaker 3: about either one of these teams. That was possible. Because
- 7:44Speaker 3: Ashton Daniels made the right reads. He had great decisions
- 7:47Speaker 3: when it came to running the football. He built a
- 7:49Speaker 3: rapport when it came to finding Deuce Robinson downfield.
- 7:53Speaker 5: What's his name as well? I'm blanking, TJ.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Danzy.
- 7:57Speaker 5: He was able to find open spots.
- 7:58Speaker 3: And Alabama had no answers whatsoever on how to guard them.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Even when they were up by three scores, they still
- 8:06Speaker 3: had no answers and Deuce Robinson was fighting his way
- 8:09Speaker 3: back in. So at some point, I got to ask
- 8:12Speaker 3: and just wonder, Gang, is it just Mike Norvell was
- 8:16Speaker 3: always going to provide fits for this team? And thank
- 8:20Speaker 3: God you don't have to play them on the regular
- 8:21Speaker 3: because it was a heart attack. I mean, Alabama, there's
- 8:24Speaker 3: a lot of things they got to clean on up.
- 8:26Speaker 3: There's a lot of positives to take away. I think
- 8:28Speaker 3: the main one is that you have a rushing attack
- 8:30Speaker 3: and that you have a quarterback that.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Can keep you in games. But I think the bigger
- 8:33Speaker 5: one is.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Thank God Mike Norvell is not going to be around
- 8:36Speaker 3: in the ACC, and you don't play them on a
- 8:38Speaker 3: regular basis.
- 8:39Speaker 5: This is bad.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I mean, again, if it's not one thing, it's another.
- 8:44Speaker 3: And credit where credit's due, there is talent at Florida State.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I think now it does come down to coaching, because
- 8:49Speaker 3: Tony White's defense, giving up nine straight scoring drives, is
- 8:52Speaker 3: the ultimate nail in the coffin of what this regime
- 8:54Speaker 3: has been.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it was frustrating to watch. It was almost hopeless,
- 8:58Speaker 1: because the offense.
- 9:00Speaker 4: For all of its issues, and for as much as
- 9:02Speaker 4: I've crapped on Mike Norvell, hard to crap on Mike
- 9:04Speaker 4: Norvell for the way that this offense performed. I wish
- 9:07Speaker 4: we would have had more rushing yards to maybe shorten
- 9:09Speaker 4: the game. It wouldn't have mattered, I don't think. But, like,
- 9:13Speaker 4: Ashton Nails threw for 377 yards. Like, that's insane, guys. Like, that's...
- 9:18Speaker 4: I mean, he didn't have that much in the last
- 9:20Speaker 4: two games combined.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That's a ton of yardage. And so... Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 4: I mean, they were, they were better and Florida state
- 9:28Speaker 4: did compete. I thought their effort level was good. They're
- 9:30Speaker 4: just not as good of a team. I, you know,
- 9:33Speaker 4: if you'd have asked me before the game, like if
- 9:34Speaker 4: I didn't, you know, if I wasn't cheering for an
- 9:36Speaker 4: outcome that we, my coach.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Fired, yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Like them going out and losing my 14 on the
- 9:41Speaker 4: road to Bama like that, like they are significantly worse
- 9:46Speaker 4: than a 14 point team. Like, comparatively to Bama. So, like, overall,
- 9:51Speaker 4: I mean, I guess that's a good result. That final 236,
- 9:54Speaker 4: I mean, Cole, I want to push back just a little.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Bit on the lightning delay.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Sure.
- 10:00Speaker 1: One, because it was essentially halftime. Like that.
- 10:03Speaker 4: It wasn't, it was kind of the, it would have
- 10:06Speaker 4: worked out the same way. I think Bama had already
- 10:08Speaker 4: figured it out by then. Cause they did score on
- 10:10Speaker 4: that long drive right before it. And then it's not
- 10:12Speaker 4: like they had long time. They, of course they gave
- 10:14Speaker 4: up two massive explosives right after that. When Bama came
- 10:19Speaker 4: back out to take the lead. So, but even if
- 10:22Speaker 4: it was the lightning day, thank you, Lord. Like, cause
- 10:24Speaker 4: if Florida state would have won that game, I would
- 10:26Speaker 4: have felt great in the moment, but then I would've
- 10:27Speaker 4: got to today and been like, Oh no, what have
- 10:28Speaker 4: I done?
- 10:29Speaker 1: It's like the Thanos meme. Like what did it cost you?
- 10:32Speaker 5: Everything.
- 10:33Speaker 4: What did it cost you?
- 10:35Speaker 5: A year long extension added.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah. 10 more years.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Um, no, but I'll tell you this as a fan,
- 10:42Speaker 4: it was fun to be in it for 25 minutes.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And I know that's like the most loser blood thing
- 10:46Speaker 4: you can say like, Hey, at least we were in it.
- 10:48Speaker 4: But then you still got the result that like the
- 10:50Speaker 4: staff deserves. Like the staff did not deserve, deserve Kalen
- 10:53Speaker 4: to bore. I saw somebody say like Mike Norvell coaches,
- 10:56Speaker 4: like Nick Saban against Alabama, uh, And Kevin DeBoer coaches
- 10:58Speaker 4: like Mike Norvell.
- 10:59Speaker 5: Against Florida State.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It's like this perfect circle. Or yeah, against Florida State.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But do you have concerns about the defense going forward?
- 11:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:10Speaker 5: No, no, no. Because this is what I was going
- 11:14Speaker 5: to bring on up.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Yes, I want to say in the heart of hearts,
- 11:19Speaker 3: absolutely you have some concerns for this defense. You have
- 11:22Speaker 3: some concerns about what they were able to do to
- 11:23Speaker 3: you downfield with the vertical passing.
- 11:26Speaker 5: And you saw.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Glimpses of that against Kentucky in the first half in Lexington.
- 11:31Speaker 5: But then a part of me is also like, guys.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I saw this last year with the same defensive coordinator
- 11:37Speaker 3: and a lot of the same pieces with Tommy Castellanos
- 11:40Speaker 3: as freaking QB1 in Tallahassee, and they still were able
- 11:44Speaker 3: to go to the college football playoff.
- 11:46Speaker 5: So it's like, on one hand, I see the faults.
- 11:50Speaker 5: I totally do.
- 11:51Speaker 3: And I definitely have my reservations. You had to go
- 11:53Speaker 3: to Neyland to face off against that offense. You had
- 11:57Speaker 3: to go to Baton Rouge to face off against that offense.
- 12:00Speaker 3: You have to go to Starkville to face off against
- 12:02Speaker 3: that offense. Those aren't guaranteed wins, and that's a secondary
- 12:06Speaker 3: that could easily get torched at any given moment.
- 12:08Speaker 5: It can.
- 12:09Speaker 3: But I'm also like, let me wait to see what
- 12:13Speaker 3: happens when you face off against South Carolina before I
- 12:15Speaker 3: go full-on in panic mode or wondering, is this going
- 12:18Speaker 3: to be a problem that we're going to have to
- 12:20Speaker 3: wonder about for the entire season? Because there could just
- 12:23Speaker 3: be the scenario of, Mike Norvell is pissed off that
- 12:27Speaker 3: he didn't take the Alabama job when it was on
- 12:29Speaker 3: the table, and so he wanted to be like Nick
- 12:32Speaker 3: Saban for a quarter and a half, and maybe that's
- 12:35Speaker 3: why he's played well against Kalen DeBoer and company. Like,
- 12:38Speaker 3: I have to live in that world, and I have
- 12:41Speaker 3: to live in that world because of two reasons. Number one,
- 12:44Speaker 3: I have to live in it because I've seen Alabama
- 12:46Speaker 3: respond in the past.
- 12:47Speaker 5: But number two.
- 12:48Speaker 3: And this is probably the bigger one, guys, at the
- 12:51Speaker 3: end of the day, I say I hate all 139 teams.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Equally because I do hate.
- 12:55Speaker 3: That includes my own team. And my own team is
- 12:57Speaker 3: the one that we're talking about right now. I have to,
- 12:59Speaker 3: at some point, kind of realize, guys, it's okay to
- 13:02Speaker 3: have a little bit of fandom in you. Because it was,
- 13:05Speaker 3: the amount of times I screamed at the television yesterday, begging,
- 13:08Speaker 3: begging for something terrible to happen to Deuce Robinson. Not
- 13:11Speaker 3: because of what I think about what happened to Deuce Robinson,
- 13:13Speaker 3: but I was sick and tired of seeing Zero just
- 13:15Speaker 3: go off, make those type of plays. Again, it's just,
- 13:19Speaker 3: you have to believe it was the Mike Norvell effect.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Which is a really disgusting thing to say.
- 13:25Speaker 1: That's gross. That is gross.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Tom? I'm seeing Eric here in the chat saying Bama's
- 13:32Speaker 2: a second-half team. They can't continue to be a second-half team. Right.
- 13:36Speaker 2: You escaped Kentucky. You escaped Florida State. You are not
- 13:40Speaker 2: going to escape some of the better teams in this league.
- 13:42Speaker 2: You cannot put games on a young quarterback in Keylon
- 13:46Speaker 2: Russell who is starting his first games ever in major
- 13:51Speaker 2: FBS football. Like, He is responding well, but you also
- 13:55Speaker 2: saw how that was a little rocky against Kentucky. It's
- 13:58Speaker 2: not always going to be this clean of a stat
- 14:00Speaker 2: sheet for Keelan Russell. It's not Trinidad Chambliss like we
- 14:03Speaker 2: talked about earlier with Ole Miss and LSU where he
- 14:05Speaker 2: can put the team on his back. It's not been
- 14:07Speaker 2: proven that he can put the team on his back
- 14:09Speaker 2: just yet, but you also don't want to put a
- 14:11Speaker 2: young quarterback in that situation where it's like, hey, we
- 14:13Speaker 2: need you to be Superman and we need to score
- 14:16Speaker 2: on X amount of consecutive drives for us to make
- 14:19Speaker 2: a comeback against an inferior team. Great teams. good teams
- 14:23Speaker 2: are going to make sure that Alabama can't do that.
- 14:25Speaker 2: My biggest takeaway from this weekend for Alabama specifically, I
- 14:30Speaker 2: understand the fan base having the hang up on the
- 14:33Speaker 2: identity of Alabama football during the Nick Saban era. This
- 14:38Speaker 2: is a vastly different program. This is a vastly different identity.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And you have these opposing forces that And you have
- 14:46Speaker 2: the Alabama fan base that's holding on to that past
- 14:49Speaker 2: identity and wants that type of football, basically what Georgia
- 14:52Speaker 2: executes at this point in time. And that's not what
- 14:55Speaker 2: you're going to get with Kalen DeBoer. And he's still winning.
- 14:59Speaker 2: And it's never good enough. It's never good enough for
- 15:01Speaker 2: this fan base. So it's unfortunate. I think Alabama is
- 15:04Speaker 2: still going to have their ups and downs this year.
- 15:06Speaker 2: They were somebody I thought could be a sleeper within
- 15:08Speaker 2: the SEC if they figure out quarterback. It looks like
- 15:11Speaker 2: they have their guy for the future. I don't think
- 15:14Speaker 2: they're making the playoff this year. I think there's going
- 15:16Speaker 2: to be too many instances where they get into a
- 15:19Speaker 2: hole against somebody and they can't dig their way out.
- 15:22Speaker 2: On the flip side, FSU, I was shocked at the
- 15:25Speaker 2: way they played in the first half of this game.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Ashton Daniels was having an out-of-body experience. I have said
- 15:30Speaker 2: on the show, I think he's playing the wrong sport.
- 15:34Speaker 1: He heard you.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I didn't even realize that he could throw for over
- 15:38Speaker 2: 300 yards passing or that he could complete that many
- 15:40Speaker 2: attempts within a game. I was absolutely stunned. I feel
- 15:44Speaker 2: for Florida State fans. chroma is your guy that is
- 15:47Speaker 2: a dude you just want to run into the ground
- 15:49Speaker 2: for the rest of the season and your defense was
- 15:51Speaker 2: responding there in the first half until they weren't this
- 15:54Speaker 2: is just going to continue to be a difficult season
- 15:56Speaker 2: for florida state i really do feel for florida state
- 15:58Speaker 2: fans it feels like the writing is on the wall
- 16:01Speaker 2: from mike norvell i just don't know how many games
- 16:03Speaker 2: are going to let this slide with norvell we've talked
- 16:06Speaker 2: about this before on this show like they could wind
- 16:09Speaker 2: up two and five very quickly in just a handful
- 16:12Speaker 2: of weeks and I really think it's going to require
- 16:14Speaker 2: this being an absolute losing season where that loss total
- 16:18Speaker 2: has to get to seven in order for them to
- 16:21Speaker 2: be like, hey, Mike, you got to go.
- 16:23Speaker 3: It's going to get to seven, though, the way that
- 16:25Speaker 3: they played. I mean, at the same time, TJ, let's
- 16:28Speaker 3: be real for a second. As much as it was
- 16:30Speaker 3: awesome to see Ashton Daniels, for you and for some
- 16:32Speaker 3: Florida State fans, look the part of QB1 and kind
- 16:36Speaker 3: of shut up a lot of people, he still had
- 16:37Speaker 3: three turnovers in the game. He still had three interceptions
- 16:41Speaker 3: that ultimately put them out of position. And take away
- 16:44Speaker 3: the last one because that was just like, I'm trying
- 16:46Speaker 3: to get us back in as we're down by double digits.
- 16:48Speaker 5: But he had two that gave opportunities for Alabama to capitalize.
- 16:52Speaker 3: So it's like on one hand, as much as I
- 16:54Speaker 3: can say, yeah, you saw Ashton Daniels deliver. You also
- 16:57Speaker 3: saw Ashton Daniels put this team back in a hole.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, and on the turnover specifically, I mean,
- 17:02Speaker 4: you're going to live with that. Like Vida told you
- 17:04Speaker 4: he was going to pass for 377 yards. You would
- 17:06Speaker 4: have known there were going to be some turnovers. I'll
- 17:08Speaker 4: say the turnovers, you know, there are different levels of turnovers.
- 17:14Speaker 4: And the first one was a tipped pass. The defense
- 17:18Speaker 4: stepped up and held him to three. Not detrimental. The
- 17:22Speaker 4: second one was a third and 17, and it was
- 17:24Speaker 4: 35 yards down the field, which that's about our punters max.
- 17:28Speaker 4: So it was essentially an arm punt on a third
- 17:30Speaker 4: and 17. And then the last one, yeah, I'm not
- 17:32Speaker 4: excusing it or saying like, Oh, no big deal. But like,
- 17:34Speaker 4: I didn't think the turnovers, I mean, they weren't helpful,
- 17:38Speaker 4: but let's say that third and 17 just falls to
- 17:40Speaker 4: the ground. Bama started roughly the same, you know, place
- 17:44Speaker 4: the one that gave up three points. I mean, yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 4: you can put, I don't know if I put that
- 17:48Speaker 4: on him with it being tipped, but I also like,
- 17:51Speaker 4: you know, you held him to any Bama drive that
- 17:53Speaker 4: ended in three last night was a massive win, whether
- 17:55Speaker 4: you gave it to him in field goal range or not.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So I, I thought, yeah, I mean, I thought the
- 18:02Speaker 1: offense again played really well, defense, terrible. And Tom's right.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Like, I mean, I, I think they'll move on from
- 18:06Speaker 4: him quicker than, you know, you know, I think it'll
- 18:09Speaker 4: be quicker than like.
- 18:12Speaker 1: The seventh loss.
- 18:14Speaker 4: But I mean, even with Virginia losing to West Virginia,
- 18:16Speaker 4: which shout out the Mountaineers, I still think they lose
- 18:18Speaker 4: to Virginia in two weeks. Last week, they lost to
- 18:22Speaker 4: a team because the offense was bad. This week, they
- 18:24Speaker 4: lose to a team because the defense is bad. They're
- 18:27Speaker 4: a poorly coached team. They're a poorly run team, and
- 18:30Speaker 4: they'll find ways to lose games. Eric asked about the atmosphere.
- 18:33Speaker 1: It was great. Second game in Tuscaloosa, really, really fun. Really,
- 18:38Speaker 1: really good. Dixieland Delight's great. The crowd was great.
- 18:43Speaker 4: The fans were funny because they were smack talking a
- 18:46Speaker 4: little bit, and I was just like, buddy, you don't
- 18:48Speaker 4: hate us as much as I did that. We, yeah,
- 18:51Speaker 4: come on, man. And they were like, ah, man, y'all
- 18:53Speaker 4: aren't even fun this week. And I was like, no,
- 18:54Speaker 4: we're not like, we're not save that for South Carolina
- 18:58Speaker 4: next week. Um, Tom mentioned their, you know, their slate.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Obviously I, I like them to be South Carolina this
- 19:06Speaker 4: week in what may bring an end to the, the
- 19:08Speaker 4: Beamer era.
- 19:09Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 19:10Speaker 4: But, uh, Mississippi state, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas A &
- 19:14Speaker 4: M and LSU, a five game stretch. That is hellacious.
- 19:18Speaker 4: And we'll find out about Alabama fully at that point.
- 19:22Speaker 4: You escaped a bad first half against Kentucky, ended up
- 19:25Speaker 4: running away with it. Bad most of first half against
- 19:29Speaker 4: Florida State.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Ended up, I don't want to say surviving, but kind
- 19:33Speaker 1: of surviving-ish.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Running away with a survival approach.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Yeah, like if Florida State had any, like any at
- 19:41Speaker 4: all defense, I don't know that Bama wins this game.
- 19:46Speaker 2: You remember that movie, Years of the sun with Bruce Willis,
- 19:49Speaker 2: like they're trying to escape, but they're messing people up
- 19:51Speaker 2: in the process.
- 19:53Speaker 5: I was going to say zombie land. Like, yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:57Speaker 5: They survived. They just had to kill a bunch of
- 19:59Speaker 5: people in the way to get it done. And it's like, awesome.
- 20:01Speaker 3: The one thing I will say, and I want to
- 20:03Speaker 3: give a shout out to, to, to Mike Norvell and
- 20:06Speaker 3: really the Seminoles players.
- 20:07Speaker 5: It would have been very easy this week to lay
- 20:09Speaker 5: down and die.
- 20:10Speaker 1: It would have.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Your athletic director gets fired. There's the TMZ video of
- 20:14Speaker 3: moving trucks outside of my girl's house. It would have
- 20:16Speaker 3: been very easy to just kind of pack it on in.
- 20:18Speaker 5: They didn't. I mean, again, I'm not for moral victories.
- 20:21Speaker 3: You lost a football game and you lost a football
- 20:22Speaker 3: game because your defense sucked. But it could have been
- 20:27Speaker 3: an easy, why are we even here?
- 20:30Speaker 5: Just give us our money so we can get out
- 20:31Speaker 5: of here faster.
- 20:35Speaker 4: What I will say is, What did you say? What
- 20:39Speaker 4: was the quote or the movie that you just said?
- 20:42Speaker 2: Zombieland?
- 20:43Speaker 3: Zombieland.
- 20:44Speaker 1: No, there was something else. I lost it. I lost it. Now,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I had a funny joke that I was going to make,
- 20:51Speaker 1: and it just didn't work.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Now I'm waiting for it. Damn it.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Now, what did you say? What was the point you
- 20:56Speaker 1: just made, Cole?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Well, Zombieland.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Oh, you had to kill a bunch of people on
- 21:00Speaker 5: the way out.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Like you survived, but you had to kill a bunch
- 21:03Speaker 5: of people.
- 21:03Speaker 1: In the process. Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Oh, I was going to say it's more like you–
- 21:09Speaker 4: it's more like– was it Game of Thrones? Like you
- 21:11Speaker 4: can't kill what's already dead? Like that's what– that's more
- 21:14Speaker 4: of the way that I feel as an FSU fan.
- 21:16Speaker 1: So, all right. Enough about that. We'll see how Bama looks.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Again, I think they'll win big on Saturday, but we'll
- 21:23Speaker 4: see how they look going forward with a stretch of
- 21:25Speaker 4: five straight ranked opponents, which is wild.
- 21:28Speaker 1: So, good luck.
- 21:30Speaker 4: They did it last year, although– Yeah. Missouri was in there, too,
- 21:35Speaker 4: so I don't know that we really should count them.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Okay, well, we don't know what's going to happen with
- 21:40Speaker 5: Mississippi State this week against Missouri.
- 21:42Speaker 1: They could be unranked. They're going to win.
- 21:45Speaker 5: Mississippi State?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, without a doubt.
- 21:47Speaker 5: I'm not going to lie.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Okay, I'm not going to lie.
- 21:51Speaker 3: That game honestly intimidates me more than Alabama facing off
- 21:54Speaker 3: against Georgia, just because of it's in Tuscaloosa.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:58Speaker 5: It does. Sorry.
