- 0:27Speaker 1: news media and we hope to see you at Breakingpoints
- 0:29Speaker 1: dot com. Turning now to insider trading, our great friend
- 0:36Speaker 1: of the show, Philip Wegman out with a great story
- 0:38Speaker 1: over the Wall Street Journal. Let's put it up here
- 0:40Speaker 1: on the screen. The New Washington Temptation Inside Information and
- 0:44Speaker 1: a Prediction market account, and they detail multiple instances inside
- 0:50Speaker 1: the White House or around the White House, members of
- 0:52Speaker 1: Congress and others who are complicit and or allegedly complicit
- 0:57Speaker 1: in insider trading, with some very eyebrow raising accusation. So
- 1:02Speaker 1: let's start with the first one, which is inside the
- 1:05Speaker 1: White House back in March people or back in April,
- 1:08Speaker 1: people began to panic why because they found multiple suspicious
- 1:12Speaker 1: trades on polymarket, where anonymous accounts made over six hundred
- 1:17Speaker 1: thousand dollars correctly betting on an April ceasefire announcement. Because
- 1:22Speaker 1: of Polymarket's anonymity, whenever it comes to their account status,
- 1:26Speaker 1: they have no idea who these people were. All they
- 1:29Speaker 1: were able to do was released a March memo telling
- 1:32Speaker 1: staff they are prohibited from using non public information for
- 1:36Speaker 1: financial benefit. However, there are a few other interesting ones.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Let's put the next one up there on the screen.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They talk here about how an anecdote over lunch at
- 1:46Speaker 1: the stowball House, a popular members only social club in Tampa.
- 1:50Speaker 1: US Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida told associates in
- 1:53Speaker 1: the summer of twenty twenty four that she knew Trump
- 1:55Speaker 1: would choose Vance to be his vice president. According to
- 1:58Speaker 1: people familiar with the common station, she said she had
- 2:01Speaker 1: tipped off Rogan o'handley, a popular MAGA influencer known as
- 2:05Speaker 1: d C Draino, about Trump's pending decision, so that he
- 2:09Speaker 1: could use the information to place a winning bet on Polymarket.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Now to be clear, Poullinea, Luna, and o'hanley both deny
- 2:17Speaker 1: the accusation, and apparently it is being investigated by the CFTC,
- 2:22Speaker 1: the Commodity's Future Trading Commission. Apparently she has filed some
- 2:25Speaker 1: separate thing where she says it's a fault ascusation. I'm
- 2:29Speaker 1: just laying out the details. Oh Handling, by the way,
- 2:32Speaker 1: has separately told associates that he was behind a long
- 2:34Speaker 1: shot attempt, mostly by social media, to get Trump to
- 2:37Speaker 1: consider Luna as his running mate, and when the Congressman
- 2:40Speaker 1: told o'hanley that Provance would get the nod instead, he
- 2:42Speaker 1: placed a winning bet on polymarket the person set. Again,
- 2:45Speaker 1: they have denied it, but that's one little anecdote that
- 2:49Speaker 1: we have over there. We also have D three, just
- 2:52Speaker 1: probably the most insane example that I've ever seen. Trump's
- 2:55Speaker 1: teleprompter operator is now on unpaid leave for alleged prediction
- 3:01Speaker 1: market bets on Trump speeches. And apparently it's not the
- 3:05Speaker 1: White House that flag this, it was Calshi, the cheap
- 3:08Speaker 1: enforcement officer over at Calshi contact federal regulators about bets
- 3:13Speaker 1: allegedly made about what the President would say in a
- 3:16Speaker 1: public address. The White House Press secretary said the president
- 3:19Speaker 1: is aware of the situation, which she described as unfortunate
- 3:22Speaker 1: and a disgrace, but has not yet said that he
- 3:25Speaker 1: would be fired. ABC News had reported Thursday that Gabriel Perez,
- 3:29Speaker 1: who has been operating Trump's telepromter since twenty sixteen, used
- 3:33Speaker 1: inside knowledge to win more than one hundred thousand dollars
- 3:37Speaker 1: betting on what the president would say in big speeches.
- 3:40Speaker 1: The chief enforcement officer of CALSHI said that their surveillance
- 3:43Speaker 1: team flagged, investigated, and referred those trades to the CFTC.
- 3:48Speaker 1: But you could see pretty specific and this is where
- 3:51Speaker 1: CALSHI look. I guess good for you, thank you for
- 3:53Speaker 1: reporting this. But why do we have prediction markets? One
- 3:56Speaker 1: Trump is going to say, period in every single speech
- 3:58Speaker 1: that he says. Markets on the number of times that
- 4:02Speaker 1: he'll say these things. And by the way, there are
- 4:04Speaker 1: viral reels or tiktoks all over of guys who are
- 4:08Speaker 1: sitting there betting on Trump saying the word low IQ
- 4:12Speaker 1: or something like that this week, and then sitting there
- 4:15Speaker 1: sweating their bets cheering. Many of these go viral. I'm
- 4:18Speaker 1: almost certain that they're paid by some company or others
- 4:21Speaker 1: like this is too how you can get rich betting
- 4:24Speaker 1: on these prediction markets. I mean it's scum behave anybody
- 4:27Speaker 1: else see all the Calshi advertising around the wall what
- 4:30Speaker 1: is it the around the World Cup? Anybody else see
- 4:32Speaker 1: old Timothy Shallomey man that will hurt. That one hurt.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'll be honest. I love shallameg so seeing the Calci
- 4:38Speaker 1: commercial it killed me. But look, this is the reality.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It's a sports betting playbook. You know, they allegedly report
- 4:45Speaker 1: these types of things, But nobody asked the bigger question,
- 4:48Speaker 1: why do we have this in the first place? Why
- 4:50Speaker 1: are you allowed to bet period on who Trump is
- 4:53Speaker 1: gonna pick for his vice president? Or what are some
- 4:56Speaker 1: of the other examples here in the Wall Street Journal?
- 4:58Speaker 1: I mean all kinds of stuff like.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Well, another good one. Remember our old friend Mark Moran,
- 5:03Speaker 2: who was so this is the guy who is I
- 5:05Speaker 2: guess running for Senate in Virginia as an independent. He
- 5:08Speaker 2: put on that weird video that our rooms saying it
- 5:10Speaker 2: looked like an alienate in habit in his body does
- 5:12Speaker 2: a lot of weird like hand gestures. Anyway, he had
- 5:15Speaker 2: already gotten caught for allegedly insider trading, and he came
- 5:19Speaker 2: out said, oh, I was doing it to prove a
- 5:21Speaker 2: point about how bad this is. Okay, well, he's another
- 5:24Speaker 2: one who's in here who got a tip from someone
- 5:27Speaker 2: who worked at Heritage Foundation. He alleges it was this guy,
- 5:30Speaker 2: Jake Denton. Jake Denton denies it that Vance was going
- 5:33Speaker 2: to be the VP. He placed a bet and told
- 5:36Speaker 2: some other friends that they should get in on the
- 5:38Speaker 2: action based on this intel from the Heritage Foundation. And
- 5:42Speaker 2: you know, it was in the grand scheme of things.
- 5:45Speaker 2: As far as these things go. Small potatoes made over
- 5:47Speaker 2: six hundred dollars on the exchange. Just shows you how
- 5:50Speaker 2: endemic this is, though, because I keep thinking about, you know,
- 5:52Speaker 2: we're getting these like basically penny ante examples of this.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You know, the teleprompter operator making one hundred grand. There's
- 5:58Speaker 2: a lot of money for most Peopleeole. But you've got
- 6:01Speaker 2: people who are making millions in these schemes. You had
- 6:04Speaker 2: that sixty minutes report that connected nine different accounts who
- 6:09Speaker 2: were making millions betting on different military operations with a
- 6:15Speaker 2: ninety eight percent success rate. You're telling me they're just
- 6:18Speaker 2: getting lucky, of course not. These are insiders who are
- 6:22Speaker 2: racking up millions of dollars. And then of course you
- 6:25Speaker 2: couple on top of that, like hot there all of
- 6:28Speaker 2: the market manipulations from Trump. You think they're not profiting
- 6:32Speaker 2: on all of these tweets that come out from Trump
- 6:34Speaker 2: talking about different companies, talking about whatever's happening with the
- 6:37Speaker 2: Iran war, et cetera, and the latest sort of overt
- 6:40Speaker 2: play in this regard, we can put D four up
- 6:43Speaker 2: on the screen. I mean, again, this is just so
- 6:45Speaker 2: incredibly scummy that this is our economy now. Trump Media
- 6:49Speaker 2: pitched one hundred thousand dollars monthly fee for a fastest
- 6:52Speaker 2: feed of the US president's post. And this is explicitly
- 6:56Speaker 2: why would you pay one hundred thousand dollars for that?
- 6:59Speaker 2: Because you want a month trade of right, a month
- 7:02Speaker 2: so that you could trade off it so that you
- 7:05Speaker 2: could be the first one into the market. After Trump
- 7:08Speaker 2: tweets out like hey loving Microsoft this month or whatever
- 7:12Speaker 2: it is that he puts in.
- 7:13Speaker 1: The right rore on oil, I mean, you're an if
- 7:15Speaker 1: you're an oil trader. Have you ever read the book
- 7:17Speaker 1: Flashboys by Michael Lewis. It was a very very good book.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I came out I'm probably almost fifteen years ago at
- 7:23Speaker 1: this point. I'm sure things have changed, but he detailed
- 7:26Speaker 1: the original kind of high frequency trading and what you're
- 7:29Speaker 1: talking about the first to market news were even milliseconds
- 7:32Speaker 1: make a difference because that way you can place microbats
- 7:36Speaker 1: so physically at tax on the entire market syst that's
- 7:38Speaker 1: what this is. It's overt They're literally like, hey, we
- 7:41Speaker 1: have a post which we know will be market moving,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and you have to pay first to get access to it. Yeah, okay,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I mean makes sense if you're a private company and
- 7:49Speaker 1: you're aggregating this information, not when you're the person creating
- 7:52Speaker 1: the information and then selling for the right to do it,
- 7:55Speaker 1: especially whenever you are the president of the United States. Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 1: and I mean, look, it's exactly as you said where yeah, look,
- 8:02Speaker 1: we're focused on all this piddly nonsense like six and
- 8:05Speaker 1: I don't mean to downplay it, as you said, one
- 8:07Speaker 1: hundred k that's a lot of money, but there are
- 8:09Speaker 1: people out there making hundreds of millions of dollars in
- 8:12Speaker 1: bets on oil, which we all know it's out in
- 8:14Speaker 1: the open. We've done segments on this in the first place.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So it's both at the micro and the macro level.
- 8:19Speaker 1: If anything, you're like, why are you selling this money
- 8:21Speaker 1: for so little? And just to give everybody an inside
- 8:23Speaker 1: example that involves us here at the show. The only
- 8:26Speaker 1: thing stopping me from making a shit pot of money
- 8:29Speaker 1: on Grand Platner dropping out is my own ethics. That
- 8:32Speaker 1: but it shouldn't be that way because guess what, Ryan
- 8:34Speaker 1: and we talked about this on AMA. Ryan had heard
- 8:37Speaker 1: basically the full story about what was coming. They were
- 8:39Speaker 1: waiting for it to come out. We had this forty
- 8:41Speaker 1: eight hours. I could have made ninety nine to one
- 8:43Speaker 1: money on a prediction market if I wanted to. Same
- 8:45Speaker 1: with Weed. I remember reporting out that Weed story about
- 8:47Speaker 1: how Trump was going to reschedule Weed. I was on
- 8:49Speaker 1: the phone making calls trying to confirm the story. But
- 8:52Speaker 1: it's funny as I was reporting it and word starts
- 8:56Speaker 1: to get out. I can watch the there's some et
- 8:59Speaker 1: ef or index fund which tracks weed stocks and think
- 9:02Speaker 1: it's called the m Sauce or something. I'm watching this
- 9:04Speaker 1: thing start to climb up, right, and I'm using this
- 9:06Speaker 1: as part of a store. But what stopped me from
- 9:08Speaker 1: buying it? Nothing is that illegal? I don't think so, right,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'm not a government official. I could do whatever I
- 9:14Speaker 1: want I technically have access to this non public information,
- 9:17Speaker 1: but not through nefarious means or any of that. I'm
- 9:20Speaker 1: just doing my job. Nothing stopped me from making ninety
- 9:23Speaker 1: nine to one money other than my disgust at these
- 9:27Speaker 1: people and this industry. It should not be that way.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I can guarantee you that not a lot of people
- 9:31Speaker 1: who are going to do that right, And that's the
- 9:33Speaker 1: issue I think with this entire you shouldn't even be
- 9:36Speaker 1: able to in the first place. Also, that is not
- 9:39Speaker 1: even fair because I literally had inside information, so did Ryan,
- 9:43Speaker 1: so did our whole crew over here. Well that's not
- 9:46Speaker 1: fair because it's not it's a public marketplace, which means
- 9:49Speaker 1: we're basically stealing moneycause a paramutual trade. We're taking somebody
- 9:52Speaker 1: else's money. Yeah, you know from this that shows you
- 9:55Speaker 1: where you got some you know guy out there who's like, oh,
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know, this is an easy way for me to
- 10:00Speaker 1: make a one percent on my money, which please contact
- 10:03Speaker 1: me for personal financial advice if that's somebody else you
- 10:06Speaker 1: know who's doing something like that. But you do have
- 10:09Speaker 1: a lot of dumb money which is out there in
- 10:11Speaker 1: good faith with no inside info, which is trading on
- 10:14Speaker 1: this stuff. And is it really fair that I could
- 10:16Speaker 1: steal that person's money just because of the job that
- 10:18Speaker 1: I have. I don't think so, I just don't.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It's only going to get worse. I mean, as the
- 10:22Speaker 2: economic situation becomes worse, as people become more hopeless, as
- 10:28Speaker 2: AI takes jobs this as the more desperate people are,
- 10:32Speaker 2: the more these markets will flourish, and the more that
- 10:35Speaker 2: the money of the lower classes will be funneled into
- 10:40Speaker 2: the pockets of insiders. I mean, that's what's going on here.
- 10:42Speaker 2: You see it so clearly that you know, pay one
- 10:44Speaker 2: hundred thousand dollars a month to get early access to
- 10:47Speaker 2: Trump's tweets, Like normal people are not going to have
- 10:50Speaker 2: the money to do that. So who's going to benefit
- 10:53Speaker 2: from that. Obviously it's going to be big players, going
- 10:55Speaker 2: to be people who are already wildly wealthy, or if
- 10:57Speaker 2: you happen to be you know, Trump or Trump family
- 11:00Speaker 2: member or close Trump associate, who knows what he's going
- 11:02Speaker 2: to tweet out before he tweets it out, you're in
- 11:04Speaker 2: prime position to be able.
- 11:05Speaker 3: To profit off of all of this.
- 11:07Speaker 2: So it's yet another funnel from the poor in the
- 11:11Speaker 2: working class up to the wealthy and insiders and elites
- 11:15Speaker 2: in this country, and yeah, it's grotesque, it's a disaster,
- 11:19Speaker 2: and it's increasingly, you know, this is the substitute for
- 11:21Speaker 2: the American dream instead of work hard, played by the rules.
- 11:24Speaker 2: It's hope you get some insider tips so that you
- 11:26Speaker 2: can make your own bank the way that the play,
- 11:29Speaker 2: the game that the big boys play, and gets your
- 11:32Speaker 2: own chance at the good life through betting in these
- 11:34Speaker 2: prediction markets.
- 11:35Speaker 1: That's all it is, all right, let's get to the
- 11:37Speaker 1: next one.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Last week we covered the killing of an immigrant in
- 11:43Speaker 2: Maine by an ICE officer.
- 11:45Speaker 3: We now know the identity of that.
- 11:47Speaker 2: ICE agent, a guy by the name of David Briette,
- 11:50Speaker 2: and his former wives as well as some of his
- 11:53Speaker 2: family members are speaking out talking about how mentally unstable
- 11:58Speaker 2: he is, his violent tendency, how they had to take
- 12:01Speaker 2: him to court, how he was violent against those wives
- 12:03Speaker 2: and his children. Let's go ahead and take a listen
- 12:06Speaker 2: to one of those wives who bravely went on the
- 12:08Speaker 2: record talking about her experience with him.
- 12:11Speaker 4: David back in November brought up that he had accepted
- 12:13Speaker 4: a job with ICE. I thought of that it was
- 12:16Speaker 4: just a delusional thing, because I'm used to him talking
- 12:18Speaker 4: crazy so to speak. So I said, yeah, sure you are, buddy.
- 12:23Speaker 4: You know, I didn't realize that he was actually working
- 12:26Speaker 4: for ICE until a yesterday, and I was completely shocked
- 12:30Speaker 4: because I'm like, how do you keep getting into these
- 12:32Speaker 4: jobs where you're around guns all the time. I asked
- 12:35Speaker 4: him what was going on. He told me that I
- 12:38Speaker 4: don't need to be answering questions for anybody, that all
- 12:41Speaker 4: I needed to know was that it was a justified
- 12:43Speaker 4: shooting and that he didn't do it. And he claimed
- 12:45Speaker 4: that this man had tried to run him over, and
- 12:49Speaker 4: I said, I don't see that in anything, and I've
- 12:51Speaker 4: watched it from all angles. All I seen is how
- 12:54Speaker 4: the car was going to circle after the fact. And
- 12:57Speaker 4: then he's like, well, I need you to lie about
- 12:59Speaker 4: my character because this is how like, this is what
- 13:01Speaker 4: it comes down to, is my character. I don't want
- 13:04Speaker 4: you talking about any of the abuse in our relationship,
- 13:06Speaker 4: like this is literally about me. Actually, I told him
- 13:10Speaker 4: that I was not going to lie for him, that
- 13:13Speaker 4: I've waited years to speak my truth. I've been silenced
- 13:15Speaker 4: long enough, and now I need to come out with
- 13:17Speaker 4: everything because a man lost his life. It was abuse
- 13:22Speaker 4: not only to me but to our daughter, and even
- 13:26Speaker 4: being divorced from him, I've dealt with harass and phone calls,
- 13:29Speaker 4: threats of him wanting to kill me. I believe that
- 13:33Speaker 4: this man was murdered. I believe that David's mental health
- 13:37Speaker 4: played a part in what happened. I think what happened
- 13:40Speaker 4: was he was standing there during that operation, had a
- 13:45Speaker 4: PTSD moment and hit fight or flight mode, and unfortunately
- 13:49Speaker 4: a man lost his life due to it.
- 13:52Speaker 2: So this gives you a window into the type of
- 13:55Speaker 2: people who are being hired and the complete lack of vetting.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I would say intentionally because obviously Steven Miller and others
- 14:02Speaker 2: want there to be a level of fear and cruelty
- 14:05Speaker 2: that is evident on the streets. Can put the AP
- 14:09Speaker 2: reporting up on the screen here they have kind of
- 14:11Speaker 2: a TikTok of this man's entire life. The headline here
- 14:14Speaker 2: is ice officer in main shooting has history of violent behavior.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Family and records say, here's some of the details. The
- 14:21Speaker 2: ex wife, whom the AAP is not identifying because she
- 14:24Speaker 2: fears retaliation, She did later come forward alleged he had
- 14:27Speaker 2: stalked and harassed her, physically and verbally abused his daughter.
- 14:30Speaker 2: According to multiple requests for temporary protection orders, but yet
- 14:34Speaker 2: tackled his teenage daughter and smashed spaghetti in her hair.
- 14:38Speaker 2: During another outburst, he dragged his daughter around the house
- 14:41Speaker 2: as she cried, let's go and put the next one
- 14:43Speaker 2: up on the screen. According to a message that one
- 14:46Speaker 2: of the ex wives shared with AP, he repeatedly called
- 14:49Speaker 2: her disgusting, suggested she and the other women and girls
- 14:53Speaker 2: in her bloodline should die. Quote all of you should
- 14:58Speaker 2: have your effing throats cut. The voicemail said that the
- 15:01Speaker 2: AP listened to, Yeah, you should. Am I threatening that
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'm going to do that?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Nope? Nope?
- 15:06Speaker 2: But do I think that you should have your effing
- 15:08Speaker 2: throats cuts or should have had them cut?
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yep?
- 15:12Speaker 2: This is the man who was hired by Ice. Let's
- 15:15Speaker 2: put the next one up on the screen. The lawsuit
- 15:19Speaker 2: that Briett filed in late twenty twenty three against the
- 15:21Speaker 2: main community college system which administered training where he was
- 15:24Speaker 2: earlier injured, said he was still significantly impaired in his
- 15:27Speaker 2: inactivities and in his daily living. The suit alleged his
- 15:30Speaker 2: postconcuss of injuries impaired his cognitive functioning and impaired his memory,
- 15:35Speaker 2: so his life story is and you had another relative
- 15:38Speaker 2: who came forward who said, I cut off contact with
- 15:40Speaker 2: this guy because I was fearful that he was going
- 15:43Speaker 2: to be violent towards me. He was diagnosed with extreme
- 15:47Speaker 2: bipolar and ADHD when he was young, had severe mental
- 15:51Speaker 2: health episodes, including trying to kill himself when he was
- 15:53Speaker 2: twelve years old, tried to enlist in the army out
- 15:57Speaker 2: of high school. The army said no because of the
- 16:00Speaker 2: mental health history. They encouraged him to go off of
- 16:02Speaker 2: his meds and try again, which he did in a year.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Then he ends up enlisting in the army. I think
- 16:08Speaker 2: he was in the main Army National Guard deployees to Afghanistan.
- 16:12Speaker 2: You also have a quote in here of a family
- 16:13Speaker 2: member who said, in Afghanistan, this is really where he
- 16:16Speaker 2: really was trained to be violent, trained to be what
- 16:18Speaker 2: they described as a monster. Comes back, is floating around
- 16:23Speaker 2: all different jobs. At one point he's working as a
- 16:25Speaker 2: corrections officer, and you know, racking up these violent incidents
- 16:29Speaker 2: with his wives and with his children. And then as
- 16:33Speaker 2: the one ex wife says, he called her and said, Hey,
- 16:36Speaker 2: I'm going to be an ice agent. She was like, yeah, sure, yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 2: Su're right. I'm sure the government wants to give you
- 16:41Speaker 2: a gun and put you in charge of anything. She
- 16:42Speaker 2: thought he was literally delusional, But no, they actually actually
- 16:47Speaker 2: did that.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Let's put a six up on the screen.
- 16:49Speaker 2: This is some details from the second ex wife here
- 16:52Speaker 2: said that he is capable of this level of extreme violence.
- 16:57Speaker 2: She also felt the need to speak out about this
- 17:00Speaker 2: Ice agent. And this is just complete, complete insanity, especially
- 17:04Speaker 2: given Sager the way that these I say, I mean,
- 17:07Speaker 2: it's insanity, period, end of story, to give a guy
- 17:10Speaker 2: like this a gun and the level of power that
- 17:13Speaker 2: he has, but especially when you consider the level of
- 17:16Speaker 2: impunity that they have been allowed to exercise, the amount
- 17:20Speaker 2: of violence that they have perpetrated. This was not the
- 17:24Speaker 2: first or the last killing from an ICE agent, unfortunately,
- 17:28Speaker 2: and so you can see as in their rush to
- 17:31Speaker 2: bring all of these new guys in send them out
- 17:34Speaker 2: into American streets, they've got an absolute psycho wife and
- 17:38Speaker 2: child beater that they put into this position. And now
- 17:42Speaker 2: a man is dead and his family is missing him.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Brulette, by the way, did not respond to any request
- 17:46Speaker 1: for comment whenever he was asked about this. A lot
- 17:49Speaker 1: of this, as you said, is pulled from court records
- 17:51Speaker 1: from AP interviews. He was given a chance, I was
- 17:54Speaker 1: contacted by the Associated Press. If he were to do so,
- 17:57Speaker 1: we would update a story in terms of what he said.
- 17:59Speaker 1: But yes, out we do know that he recently joined ICE,
- 18:03Speaker 1: had recently seemed taken a what is it twenty twenty five,
- 18:06Speaker 1: had taken a real estate exam, does seem like Afghanistan PTSD,
- 18:11Speaker 1: and all of that became a significant part of his story,
- 18:13Speaker 1: on top of what was already according these court records,
- 18:15Speaker 1: looks like very volatile behavior. And look, I mean, I
- 18:19Speaker 1: think that it is incumbent upon law enforcement military generally
- 18:24Speaker 1: that if you're going to put immense powers in people's hands,
- 18:27Speaker 1: that you need to have some level of trust. And unfortunately,
- 18:30Speaker 1: this is a very common story, I think, both in
- 18:33Speaker 1: a lot of branches of law enforcement. Yeah, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: the bodycam is the worst thing that ever happened to them,
- 18:38Speaker 1: And part of the problem in this incident bodycam wasn't
- 18:42Speaker 1: being worn, which is against it was, it was not
- 18:45Speaker 1: turned on. It's not turned on, and so you had
- 18:48Speaker 1: basically he said, he said situation. Then you had the
- 18:52Speaker 1: initial statement by the DHS where I mean I said
- 18:55Speaker 1: it their hit like whenever, if you can't say I
- 18:59Speaker 1: feared for my life and discharge my weapon, that's all
- 19:02Speaker 1: you've got. Because if you have I fear for public
- 19:05Speaker 1: safety and discharge my weapon and a man was killed,
- 19:08Speaker 1: good luck, there's I have. There is no single justification
- 19:11Speaker 1: use of force doctrine. And you know, I previously we
- 19:14Speaker 1: talked about many of these other instances, and I know
- 19:16Speaker 1: it's unpopular. I think most of them you're probably going
- 19:19Speaker 1: to get off in a court of lot just because
- 19:20Speaker 1: of the extraordinary deference that police get in law enforcement shootings.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Not this one, definitely not. Whenever you have a moving
- 19:28Speaker 1: vehicle where you you know, against your own guidance, you
- 19:30Speaker 1: try to move, you try to stop said vehicle, and
- 19:33Speaker 1: then you can't even say I feared for my life
- 19:35Speaker 1: in that moment. And maybe I don't know what he
- 19:37Speaker 1: said to the initial investigators. Obviously he probably can't speak
- 19:40Speaker 1: because for legal reasons. But you know, if you have,
- 19:42Speaker 1: if you've got this level of documented problems in your history,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and then putting guns in those people's hands, and then
- 19:49Speaker 1: it becomes in a hyper politicized moment, it's a it's
- 19:53Speaker 1: a disaster.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Well, and let me play another aspect of this because
- 19:55Speaker 2: we touched on this some when we were covering this.
- 19:57Speaker 2: This this killing occurred right on the heels of a similar,
- 20:01Speaker 2: very similar situation in Texas where an immigrant was killed.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And so Tom Homan went on the Sunday Shows and
- 20:08Speaker 2: Margaret Brenham challenged him because he's like, well, they should
- 20:11Speaker 2: just comply, and she said, well, how do they even
- 20:13Speaker 2: know that this is, you know, a law enforcement operation
- 20:17Speaker 2: because you've got unmarked cars. The guy in Texas, his
- 20:20Speaker 2: family explicitly said he thought he was being carjacked, which
- 20:23Speaker 2: any reasonable person, you've got these cycle, unmarked cars trying
- 20:26Speaker 2: to you know, push you off the road. He had
- 20:28Speaker 2: a bunch of equipment in the back of his van.
- 20:30Speaker 2: He's thinking, they're trying to steal my stuff from my
- 20:33Speaker 2: work vehicle. Tom Hollman was challenged on this and really
- 20:36Speaker 2: ultimately crumbles under pressure and admits that there may have
- 20:39Speaker 2: been a problem with the way that the protocol went down. Here.
- 20:42Speaker 3: This is E zero. Let's take a listen to that.
- 20:45Speaker 5: These were fatal shootings, of course in Houston and in Maine.
- 20:49Speaker 5: In Houston, it was an unmarked car. So when you're
- 20:51Speaker 5: saying don't resist these individuals who were chasing the man
- 20:58Speaker 5: who died. They didn't have marketings on that vehicle that
- 21:02Speaker 5: would allow for him to.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Know that they were ice. It just looked like a
- 21:07Speaker 3: car coming after them.
- 21:08Speaker 4: In the videos.
- 21:10Speaker 6: No, they have emergency lights. Officers have insignia, so when
- 21:14Speaker 6: they get that car and prost the car, you can
- 21:15Speaker 6: clearly see the law enforcement officers.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Well in the video that has been public it's not.
- 21:21Speaker 6: These these people. I'm not saying it's a mark car,
- 21:25Speaker 6: but they have emergency lights and siren. So when they
- 21:27Speaker 6: post some mother they want to activate the emergency lights.
- 21:30Speaker 6: A lot of a lot of police departments say, hey,
- 21:32Speaker 6: I'm in New York City right now. A lot of
- 21:33Speaker 6: NYPD officers are driving on marked vehicles and that helps
- 21:37Speaker 6: them find people that don't want to be found, right, So,
- 21:40Speaker 6: you know. But bottom line is, we'll see when the
- 21:43Speaker 6: investigation plays out, but they would be live today if
- 21:46Speaker 6: they simply complied with a vehicle stop by federal law
- 21:50Speaker 6: enforce notic just comply you can if you don't think
- 21:53Speaker 6: you're being treated right and they had no reason to
- 21:55Speaker 6: stop you, then there's there's avenues that take them in
- 21:58Speaker 6: the court to sue.
- 21:59Speaker 5: The family of the man in Houston, so he thought
- 22:02Speaker 5: he was being robbed because it was an unmarked vehicle,
- 22:06Speaker 5: not that it was law enforcement at all.
- 22:08Speaker 6: They had emergency lights. They activate emergency lights, blue light.
- 22:13Speaker 6: You know, you know in my vehicle, I drive Worm
- 22:16Speaker 6: with my security details.
- 22:17Speaker 5: You've seen that on video.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Because we have seen what on video, men.
- 22:21Speaker 5: That there were lights, because in the videos that we've
- 22:23Speaker 5: seen there aren't, and because there weren't body cameras, it
- 22:27Speaker 5: is hard to substantiate some of what you were saying.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Okay, well, I have not seen the videos, but I'm
- 22:34Speaker 6: saying our vehicles are equipped to emergency lights. Now, if
- 22:37Speaker 6: they didn't activate the lights, again, I haven't seen that video.
- 22:40Speaker 6: If they didn't activate the lights, and then there's an
- 22:43Speaker 6: issue there, right. But I'm saying they are kryptoltes lights,
- 22:46Speaker 6: So let me just caveat that they should have been
- 22:48Speaker 6: Krypto lights and sirens. But I do not know specifically
- 22:52Speaker 6: if they activated those lights.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I mean, that's pretty devastating there.
- 22:56Speaker 2: And then it's the claims ager you haven't seen the
- 23:00Speaker 2: d I mean, if you haven't seen the video, what
- 23:04Speaker 2: are you even doing? Like this is your job, You're
- 23:07Speaker 2: supposed to be overseeing this you're supposed to care about
- 23:09Speaker 2: whether the right protocol was filed followed. This is an
- 23:12Speaker 2: extremely high profile killing on your watch, and you're claiming, oh,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I didn't actually get a chance to look at the video,
- 23:20Speaker 2: Like what, complete and total bullshit, and she just hasn't
- 23:22Speaker 2: done to.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Write yeah, the video. I mean, we saw the video.
- 23:24Speaker 1: There there's no video, there's no emergency lights. I agree.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I mean in terms of being stopped by an unmarked vehicle, like, yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 1: if you flash your flights, I think most people would stop,
- 23:34Speaker 1: or if you don't, then at least you know you
- 23:35Speaker 1: know what's going on. But if you're coming up and
- 23:37Speaker 1: somebody is coming out behind you, then a reasonable person
- 23:40Speaker 1: could say I had no idea what was going on here,
- 23:43Speaker 1: especially when you're in your vehicle. And then it's even
- 23:45Speaker 1: worse because I'm not saying you deserve to die like period,
- 23:48Speaker 1: but it's even worse. He wasn't even the person that
- 23:50Speaker 1: was supposed to be stopped, right guy instances. I think
- 23:53Speaker 1: Ryan and Huan talked about it. I mean, if you
- 23:55Speaker 1: look at the story of this Colombian guy who was
- 23:58Speaker 1: killed in Maine, it is honest, kind of insane, Like
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's the right wing seemed to have been like a
- 24:03Speaker 1: right wing Columbia nationalists. I don't know what he was
- 24:05Speaker 1: doing here if he's right when Columbia nationalists, but okay,
- 24:08Speaker 1: but I mean just to show you, like people are
- 24:10Speaker 1: complex and a little different, and it does demonstrate that
- 24:14Speaker 1: they didn't even know who they were stopping because they
- 24:16Speaker 1: were supposed to try and stop some sort of other.
- 24:19Speaker 1: They were trying to stop another person whenever they pulled
- 24:21Speaker 1: this guy over and then initially he is shot in
- 24:24Speaker 1: a bad incident like this, but given the background here,
- 24:28Speaker 1: it will demonstrate that the ICE is going to have
- 24:31Speaker 1: serious pride. I also just think this is a preview
- 24:34Speaker 1: of what the next three years are going to look
- 24:37Speaker 1: like like in terms of Democrats, if they take the
- 24:40Speaker 1: House of Representatives and if they investigate or if they
- 24:43Speaker 1: initiate any sort of congressional review of ICE hiring, how
- 24:47Speaker 1: many more David brother and like this will validate like
- 24:50Speaker 1: the look And you know, I'm not a cab or
- 24:53Speaker 1: any of that, but I know for certain that if
- 24:56Speaker 1: you rush things and you don't do like a methodical job,
- 25:00Speaker 1: and you have a bunch of people who slipped through
- 25:02Speaker 1: the cracks or who are intentionally pushed aside, or you
- 25:04Speaker 1: don't initiate types of processes like you're the government and
- 25:07Speaker 1: you put guns in people's hands, like you're going to
- 25:09Speaker 1: own that entire process. That's going to be Seriously, I
- 25:12Speaker 1: really think this is going to be a massive problem.
- 25:14Speaker 2: And there was the administration a brief moment where Mark
- 25:17Speaker 2: wayn Mullen comes out and says, we're not going to
- 25:19Speaker 2: do vehicle stops. And we're sort of accustomed to this
- 25:21Speaker 2: vehicle stop thing. Now this is new. In previous administrations,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I think, including the first Trump administration, vehicle stops were
- 25:28Speaker 2: only used with ICE agents or any sort of border
- 25:31Speaker 2: patrol or any of these affiliated agencies in situations where
- 25:35Speaker 2: that were relatively extreme, where you knew who the target was,
- 25:38Speaker 2: they were violent, there was some sort of criminal record,
- 25:40Speaker 2: It was extraordinary circumstances. Now this is just par for
- 25:43Speaker 2: the course. And as you can see in both of
- 25:45Speaker 2: these instances, these guys weren't even the target. So they
- 25:47Speaker 2: just literally were like, oh, they look brown, maybe they're undocumented,
- 25:50Speaker 2: let's pull them over in this again very very aggressive manner.
- 25:54Speaker 3: No lights.
- 25:55Speaker 2: In terms of the one down in Texas, we don't know.
- 25:58Speaker 2: In terms of the one up in May because we
- 26:00Speaker 2: have more limited camera footage there. But in any case,
- 26:03Speaker 2: this is relatively new development. Mark wayn Mullen says, we're
- 26:06Speaker 2: going to stop doing this for now. Trump immediately, apparently
- 26:08Speaker 2: after Steven Miller yelling and blowing his top over the pullback,
- 26:13Speaker 2: Trump immediately comes out in the next day and says, no,
- 26:15Speaker 2: we're going to continue. The other piece that I want
- 26:18Speaker 2: to layer on here is, you know, in a bunch
- 26:20Speaker 2: of these instances like these ICE agents should go to prison.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I mean, if you're the guy in Maine, there is
- 26:26Speaker 2: even dhs is saying that they discharge their weapons on
- 26:30Speaker 2: a fear of public safety. That is not a defense
- 26:32Speaker 2: in a court of law. That man should be alive today.
- 26:35Speaker 2: So in any case, you've had all of these instances
- 26:38Speaker 2: of ICE agents and CBP who are starting fights, who
- 26:42Speaker 2: are aggressive, who are assaulting protesters and immigrants themselves, where
- 26:47Speaker 2: there should be investigators, there should be court cases. Let's
- 26:50Speaker 2: take a look at E nine. This is a report
- 26:52Speaker 2: from the New York Times that is saying that federal
- 26:55Speaker 2: agents were told the FBI is no longer going to
- 26:58Speaker 2: investigate ICE co prontations and the TLDR.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Here by the way.
- 27:03Speaker 2: The FBI denies this, but there were multiple federal agents
- 27:06Speaker 2: that talked to the New York Times about this new
- 27:08Speaker 2: guidance that they received. In any case, the TLDR here
- 27:11Speaker 2: is that instead of the FBI investigating to see, okay,
- 27:15Speaker 2: was it the protesters fault? Was it the immigrants fault?
- 27:17Speaker 2: Were they actually assaulting ICE agents or were ICE agents
- 27:20Speaker 2: involved in misconduct potentially prosecutable misconduct. Now it's going to
- 27:26Speaker 2: be kicked to an investigative unit within ICE itself. So
- 27:31Speaker 2: ICE investigating itself, you can imagine how much is going
- 27:35Speaker 2: to come out from that. And then in terms of,
- 27:37Speaker 2: you know, their level of trust, and when they come
- 27:39Speaker 2: out with these claims that, oh, this immigrant was trying
- 27:43Speaker 2: to murder an ICE agent, He's lucky to escape with
- 27:45Speaker 2: his life, et cetera, let's take a look at where
- 27:47Speaker 2: the rubber meets the road, which is in a court
- 27:49Speaker 2: of law when you actually have to produce evidence of
- 27:52Speaker 2: these wild claims that have been made by basically everyone
- 27:56Speaker 2: affiliated with immigrations throughout the administration.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Put E eight on the screen.
- 28:00Speaker 2: This is a comprehensive review from the New York Times.
- 28:03Speaker 2: The headline on this article was they were charged with
- 28:05Speaker 2: assaulting ICE agents. The cases are crumbling. Here are the numbers.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Five hundred and fifty eight people were charged with assault
- 28:14Speaker 2: of an immigration agent, one hundred and ninety one of
- 28:18Speaker 2: those dismissed, twenty two outright acquitted. You're ready for how
- 28:22Speaker 2: many convicted on a five hundred and fifty eight four four.
- 28:26Speaker 2: You've had two hundred and forty six that pled guilty,
- 28:28Speaker 2: you have ninety five that are still pending, and then
- 28:30Speaker 2: you have a whole rash of other ones where they
- 28:33Speaker 2: just dropped the charge, They just walked away from charging
- 28:37Speaker 2: the people all together, where the thing just completely fell apart.
- 28:41Speaker 2: And you have instances here saga that are so wild, where,
- 28:43Speaker 2: for example, you had an ICE agent that busted open
- 28:47Speaker 2: someone's window, injured themselves busting open the window, and then
- 28:52Speaker 2: charged that person with assault for the injuries that they
- 28:57Speaker 2: caused to themselves. You have an example in this article
- 29:00Speaker 2: of two women who were on their way somewhere, saw
- 29:03Speaker 2: that ICE was, you know, doing an action, and pulled
- 29:07Speaker 2: into a parking lot to observe from a distance away.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Afterwards they left, ICE agents followed them again, had this
- 29:14Speaker 2: very aggressive interaction with them, and ended up claiming that
- 29:18Speaker 2: they had assaulted the ICE agents, where there was camera
- 29:21Speaker 2: footage that proved that was not the case whatsoever. You
- 29:24Speaker 2: have an instance with Greg Bovino, I think that was
- 29:26Speaker 2: directly involved in where he beat up some immigrant, that
- 29:29Speaker 2: he charged the immigrant with assault. A jury came back
- 29:32Speaker 2: and said, no, you people started this situation. So they
- 29:36Speaker 2: have been rebuked numerous times for making up incidents, for
- 29:41Speaker 2: lying about what actually occurred, and under scrutiny, these cases
- 29:44Speaker 2: frequently frequently fall completely apart, and in many instances, and
- 29:49Speaker 2: there's a quote in here from an expert, they say,
- 29:51Speaker 2: you know, it's actually the ICE agents that should be charged,
- 29:53Speaker 2: like in a rational world they would be facing criminal charges.
- 29:56Speaker 2: And so to your point about the political fallout, this
- 29:59Speaker 2: is exactly the past. You know, when if Democrats get
- 30:02Speaker 2: power in the House certainly or possibly also in the Senate,
- 30:06Speaker 2: and certainly moving forward into twenty twenty eight, if they
- 30:08Speaker 2: end up with control of government, this is the sort
- 30:10Speaker 2: of thing that the base is going to be pushing
- 30:12Speaker 2: them to do, to look through the records of all
- 30:15Speaker 2: of these ICE agents, to go through the vetting process
- 30:18Speaker 2: to see who is there. And obviously there's a huge
- 30:21Speaker 2: push to get rid of the agency altogether. And when
- 30:23Speaker 2: you have situations like this, you know, total psycho with
- 30:27Speaker 2: brain damage and mental illness and a wife beater and
- 30:30Speaker 2: a child beater who was given a gun, that makes
- 30:33Speaker 2: the case that yes, this whole thing we need a
- 30:36Speaker 2: different process for handling immigration and forcing you know, immigration,
- 30:40Speaker 2: forcing the border. That this whole thing is so rotten
- 30:43Speaker 2: that it just cannot persist and go forward.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I mean, I I hate to say it. I do
- 30:46Speaker 1: think it'll probably come to pass. I mean, I will say,
- 30:49Speaker 1: you know, you got two hundred and forty six here.
- 30:50Speaker 1: He played guilty, so it's not like, you know, half
- 30:52Speaker 1: of them roughly did plead guilty, so it's not like
- 30:54Speaker 1: it's invented out of whole cloth.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I actually, but let me just say, prior to Trump,
- 30:58Speaker 2: there were you know what the conviction rate.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I'm sure it was ninety one hundred.
- 31:02Speaker 3: They have never.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Failed on this and now it's like, you know, they're
- 31:05Speaker 2: just throwing it at the wall. Like any time someone
- 31:07Speaker 2: just irritates an ICE agent, they charge them with the salt,
- 31:10Speaker 2: send them through the court system, try to make their
- 31:12Speaker 2: life miserable.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Because prosecutor to prosecutorial discretion usually meant that you would
- 31:18Speaker 1: only bring very extreme cases to these Also, if you're
- 31:21Speaker 1: not doing much enforcement, then you're also not going to
- 31:23Speaker 1: have many cases. But look, I've said it before, they
- 31:26Speaker 1: blew the entire political stack whenever it came to the
- 31:30Speaker 1: way that they wanted to do enforcement. There were a
- 31:32Speaker 1: lot of different ways this all could have been done.
- 31:34Speaker 1: A lot more people could have been deported, and a
- 31:35Speaker 1: lot more illegals could have left the country, and you
- 31:37Speaker 1: just doing n't have to do literally any of this.
- 31:39Speaker 1: They decided to go in this direction for the full
- 31:42Speaker 1: show of force, and the entire country has basically turned
- 31:45Speaker 1: or most of the country has turned against it, even
- 31:48Speaker 1: people who are dramatically like me, who are on the side,
- 31:51Speaker 1: largely because it's not just the political fallout, it's also
- 31:54Speaker 1: just like chaos. Like it's like, guys, we can't live
- 31:56Speaker 1: in a crazy world where you've got unmarked cars and
- 31:59Speaker 1: people and shot. I mean, like I literally went to
- 32:01Speaker 1: that town a bit if it's a very piece of
- 32:03Speaker 1: small town, Like I'm like, when I saw the news,
- 32:05Speaker 1: I was like, I cannot believe this, that this is
- 32:08Speaker 1: happening in Bideford of all places, and so and it's
- 32:11Speaker 1: not just because I've been there Houston too, Like, yeah,
- 32:13Speaker 1: Houston City chock full of illegals, but it's like you
- 32:16Speaker 1: can't just have it so that people are getting shot
- 32:18Speaker 1: and pulled over, and just that's exactly. Look. People turned
- 32:22Speaker 1: on the border because of Biden, who left it wide open.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Tens of millions of people came here illegally. Nobody really
- 32:28Speaker 1: knows numbers, roughly ten to twelve million according to the
- 32:30Speaker 1: US governments before under Biden. Just in case people think
- 32:34Speaker 1: that number is politicized. People found that intolerable. I certainly
- 32:37Speaker 1: find that and completely intolerable. I do think what we
- 32:39Speaker 1: find here is now a situation where what you talked
- 32:43Speaker 1: about there with the Democrats in their turn on, it's
- 32:45Speaker 1: going to be very similar to a lot of the
- 32:47Speaker 1: way that MAGA came into Inuary the office in January
- 32:51Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, where you know, the whole like January sixth,
- 32:54Speaker 1: we have to go after the prosecutors, we have to
- 32:56Speaker 1: pardon many of the people who were involved, like it
- 32:58Speaker 1: became an issue which was absolutely one hundred percent core
- 33:03Speaker 1: to the Republican base, and I mean they did get
- 33:06Speaker 1: a lot of what they wanted, and I think it
- 33:07Speaker 1: will be very similar with the Democrats. I don't know
- 33:10Speaker 1: how popular. It might probably be a little bit more popular,
- 33:13Speaker 1: if I'm willing to guess whenever it comes to that time.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I have no idea. But in a sense it doesn't
- 33:18Speaker 1: matter because it'll become the type of mandate that people
- 33:21Speaker 1: will focus on. Yeah, I mean I do. I personally
- 33:24Speaker 1: blame the Trump administration for taking this position. I also
- 33:27Speaker 1: really blame the Republican Party, which stood at every turn
- 33:31Speaker 1: and stopped any of the other institutional ways that you
- 33:34Speaker 1: can have immigration. But this could be a I think
- 33:37Speaker 1: eighty twenty issue easily if you had done it properly
- 33:40Speaker 1: with mandatory everify and like genuine if you had focused
- 33:45Speaker 1: on like rapist criminals. If we had no Seacot, we
- 33:48Speaker 1: had no Minneapolis. I mean, imagine what this administry, no
- 33:51Speaker 1: Iran war, all those things together. We could be living
- 33:53Speaker 1: in a totally different world. But and you know, then
- 33:56Speaker 1: it would just be like human rights activists who are
- 33:58Speaker 1: bitching and moaning all the time like they do no
- 34:00Speaker 1: matter what. But now that is the popular position where
- 34:04Speaker 1: you've got you know, the median, white college educated lib
- 34:08Speaker 1: is screaming about abolish ice. That is not the situation
- 34:12Speaker 1: in January of twenty nineteen, so I can see I
- 34:16Speaker 1: could see the future quite clearly at least where things are.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Going well, speaking of people turning on the Trump administration,
- 34:22Speaker 2: good transition to Tim Dillon here talking about Jady Vance.
- 34:28Speaker 2: So we talked a little bit last week about Jadie
- 34:30Speaker 2: Vance on Joe Rogan where he's.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Sort of postures like he's just some guy.
- 34:34Speaker 2: You know, he doesn't really have any power to do anything,
- 34:36Speaker 2: just calling you know, the way he sees it on
- 34:39Speaker 2: the Epstein files and the Iran war, etc. Tim Dillon
- 34:43Speaker 2: really had some fun with this one, went in on
- 34:46Speaker 2: JD Vance and really the administration as a whole, and also,
- 34:49Speaker 2: by the way, anyone who continues to support the administration,
- 34:52Speaker 2: who he said, must be the dumbest people on earth.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and take a listen to Tim Dillon
- 34:57Speaker 2: sounding off on JD Vance.
- 34:59Speaker 7: This is the when like Jady Vance goes on Rogan
- 35:01Speaker 7: and goes, well, you know, they have this whole discussion
- 35:05Speaker 7: about the Epstein docs, and jd is like, I'll go
- 35:07Speaker 7: to my death believing it was a larger conspiracy.
- 35:10Speaker 8: You know.
- 35:11Speaker 7: It's it's kind of like these guys are like, well,
- 35:13Speaker 7: what are you gonna do. What are you gonna do?
- 35:15Speaker 7: It's like, no, you're the You're the vice president. What
- 35:17Speaker 7: are you talking about? Jady Vance is talking about this
- 35:21Speaker 7: like he's a guy at a bar in the town
- 35:24Speaker 7: I grew up in on Long Island where he'd be like,
- 35:28Speaker 7: I'll always believe it was a conspiracy.
- 35:30Speaker 1: You sure.
- 35:32Speaker 7: That guy owns a pool company. He's he's gonna he's
- 35:37Speaker 7: gonna be like, yeah, what are you gonna do? I'll
- 35:40Speaker 7: always believe someone on there, this guy's the vice president
- 35:45Speaker 7: of the United States of America going on the biggest
- 35:49Speaker 7: podcast in the world.
- 35:50Speaker 8: Go and yup, I read all the files. Trump's citizen.
- 35:53Speaker 7: Also, I'll always believe there was a greater conspiracy there.
- 35:57Speaker 8: I'll always think something is going on. But what am
- 35:59Speaker 8: I gonna do? I'm the vice president.
- 36:01Speaker 7: That's Shadie Vance's character arc right now is his whole
- 36:05Speaker 7: entire thing. It's just telling people what the vice president
- 36:07Speaker 7: can't do, like what about the war?
- 36:10Speaker 8: And I ran, you know, there's not much I can do.
- 36:12Speaker 7: I just kind of hang out and you know what,
- 36:15Speaker 7: watch as I'm part of the administration that betrays its
- 36:18Speaker 7: voters and does the opposite of everything it said.
- 36:21Speaker 8: It was gonna do. I just kind of.
- 36:22Speaker 7: Hang out and you know, this Epstein thing, who knows
- 36:26Speaker 7: this is the game, keep trying to play this game
- 36:29Speaker 7: where they're like this folksy kind of like relatable, like, yeah,
- 36:35Speaker 7: these fucking elites, these fucking elites with these they're fucking
- 36:41Speaker 7: the kids. They're stealing your money. What who you're doing it?
- 36:48Speaker 7: You're the ones you are doing it. And they're relying
- 36:51Speaker 7: on the fact that some of their most ardinent supporters,
- 36:55Speaker 7: the ones who aren't directly being paid off, are the
- 36:58Speaker 7: stupidest people in the world. So that still works on them.
- 37:02Speaker 7: They're like, yeah, fucking Hillary, babe, Hillary collect then fucking
- 37:09Speaker 7: Hillary Clinton, the guy. They're in the White House, they
- 37:14Speaker 7: have the Congress, they have the Senate, they have the
- 37:18Speaker 7: Supreme Court. It is them, It is now them. I
- 37:24Speaker 7: don't want to hear about the deep state anymore.
- 37:27Speaker 3: There's a lot there.
- 37:28Speaker 2: I mean, I kept thinking actually about Thomas Massey was
- 37:31Speaker 2: like Trump saying, the elections are rigged.
- 37:33Speaker 3: We won everything. What are you talking about.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Like, you're in the White House, we have the House,
- 37:38Speaker 2: we have the Senate, we have the Supreme Court. We
- 37:41Speaker 2: won everything. What are you talking about? The elections were
- 37:44Speaker 2: rigged what they were rigged for you. I mean it's
- 37:46Speaker 2: similar vibe here where he's like, you can't continue to
- 37:49Speaker 2: sit here, jd Vance or anyone else and have this
- 37:52Speaker 2: whole folks see like yeah, we're really gonna, you know,
- 37:55Speaker 2: stick it to those elites. It's like, no, that is you.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Now you are in control. This rest the stops with
- 38:01Speaker 2: you people, and you don't get to just like divorce
- 38:03Speaker 2: yourself from that reality and pretend like you're just some
- 38:06Speaker 2: armchair quarterback or some pundit watching this thing from Afar.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Dat said something very interesting in the podcast. He said,
- 38:12Speaker 1: I'm not a public commentator. I do my best to
- 38:14Speaker 1: work things on the inside. And I was like, well, man,
- 38:17Speaker 1: you are on the Joe Rogan podcast. You kind of
- 38:20Speaker 1: are public. Do you see what I'm saying. It's like, well,
- 38:22Speaker 1: you know, pundits I just talked about in the ice box.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I support massive immigration enforcement. I think
- 38:29Speaker 1: they fucked it up. He can't even say that, right
- 38:31Speaker 1: because that would cause a crisis. So everything with Epstein
- 38:34Speaker 1: was like Trump did nothing wrong and then hail Even
- 38:37Speaker 1: then You're like, I'll put my hands up. We did
- 38:39Speaker 1: mishandle portions of it, but there's nothing damaging in it
- 38:42Speaker 1: about Trump, and you're like, oh my god. And then
- 38:44Speaker 1: the stuff about Israel and the US intelligence. I mean,
- 38:47Speaker 1: this is why even when we say it, he's the
- 38:49Speaker 1: highest US official ever to confirm to say Epstein had
- 38:54Speaker 1: links to Israeli and US intelligence. Yeah, no US official
- 38:57Speaker 1: has ever uttered those words ever before current official. But
- 39:02Speaker 1: no evidence to back it up. Yeah, no, deep familiarity
- 39:05Speaker 1: with what he's saying. Is that an off the cuff comment.
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's like, dude, are you just listening to a podcast
- 39:10Speaker 1: talking about that or did you see intelligence?
- 39:12Speaker 8: Right?
- 39:13Speaker 1: And this is why it's like, if you're going to
- 39:14Speaker 1: say anything that you need to know exactly what you're
- 39:16Speaker 1: talking and you just speak from a position of authority,
- 39:18Speaker 1: and you at the very least like splitting the difference
- 39:21Speaker 1: between I'm not a public commentator while you're literally public
- 39:23Speaker 1: commentating is in my opinion, like the worst of all
- 39:26Speaker 1: of it. Because okay, on iron, we all know what
- 39:30Speaker 1: you're like. Jer Rogan asked him directly, would you handle
- 39:33Speaker 1: things differently? He has to talk around it. He's like, well,
- 39:36Speaker 1: the President has even said, you know, JD would have
- 39:39Speaker 1: handled it differently. He can't even say yeah, I would
- 39:41Speaker 1: have this is a fucking disaster because he has to
- 39:43Speaker 1: praise Trump, he has to you know, pay lip service
- 39:47Speaker 1: to well, we can't let the Iranians have a nuclear
- 39:49Speaker 1: weapon when I'm like, I don't even think you believe that.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I just I don't even know if you believe that.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Think about at all.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Think about how poorly his analysis such as it was
- 39:57Speaker 2: age just from.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Whenever that was recorded.
- 40:00Speaker 2: He was like, oh, the CNL back or it's a blip,
- 40:03Speaker 2: We're going to get back to negotiating, and say oh
- 40:05Speaker 2: are you are you because it doesn't feel like a
- 40:07Speaker 2: blip right now, you know, now the Iranians are like,
- 40:09Speaker 2: we're done negotiating with you. There is this theoretical O
- 40:12Speaker 2: ten day proposal, et cetera.
- 40:14Speaker 3: But they're pissed.
- 40:15Speaker 2: They're you know, bombing desalination plans, killing our service members
- 40:19Speaker 2: in Jordan, and we are bombing their civilian infrastructure and
- 40:25Speaker 2: you know, threatening all sorts of things as well. So
- 40:28Speaker 2: doesn't feel like this is all just a little bit
- 40:30Speaker 2: of a blip on our way back, you know, days
- 40:33Speaker 2: away from getting some larger deal. So even that quote
- 40:37Speaker 2: unquote analysis he offered just days ago has already completely
- 40:41Speaker 2: fallen apart. There was another part of this where Tim
- 40:44Speaker 2: really went in on the Iran war in particular and
- 40:47Speaker 2: sort of the overall track record of the Trump administration.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and take a listen to that.
- 40:52Speaker 7: This guy's in a press tour for a book. We're
- 40:56Speaker 7: days away from troops on the ground, and Iran is
- 41:00Speaker 7: just a total nightmare. The economy is a nightmare, the
- 41:04Speaker 7: traits of Wurmuz. There's gonna be like a massive oil
- 41:07Speaker 7: crisis soon. And they've given so much money to big
- 41:15Speaker 7: tech and AI, the flock cameras, all.
- 41:19Speaker 8: Of this stuff, all of this.
- 41:21Speaker 7: They're building a surveillance state with this money. They're building
- 41:27Speaker 7: a digital surveillance state with the money. And he's got
- 41:33Speaker 7: to do this kind of like awe shocks, can you?
- 41:37Speaker 8: But Yeah, isn't it whack? Isn't it whacky?
- 41:40Speaker 2: He goes into this whole thing like we're weeks away
- 41:43Speaker 2: from Trump nuking Iran. Jd Vance going back on with Joe.
- 41:47Speaker 2: You know, isn't this crazy?
- 41:48Speaker 1: Joe?
- 41:49Speaker 2: Like I never imagined as a little boy growing up
- 41:51Speaker 2: in Appalachia that I'd end.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Up here talking to you after we just nuked.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Aron and he said something that I think was actually
- 41:59Speaker 2: very insightful. He's like, you know, the truth is these
- 42:02Speaker 2: wars they don't work anymore. Like the you know, war
- 42:05Speaker 2: didn't work in Afghanist they didn't work in Iraq.
- 42:07Speaker 3: It's not working here.
- 42:09Speaker 2: And he's like, you know, that's part of what it's
- 42:11Speaker 2: not working for Russia and Ukraine and part of what
- 42:14Speaker 2: is pushing towards a potentially really disastrous, insane like nuclear
- 42:19Speaker 2: outcome is that this conventional military approach it doesn't get
- 42:23Speaker 2: you where you want to go anymore. And China has
- 42:25Speaker 2: kind of recognized that they're not outstarting wars, they're not
- 42:28Speaker 2: spread money around, let's invest in infrastructure, let's get tied
- 42:30Speaker 2: into your economy, and that that's been far more successful
- 42:33Speaker 2: for them in terms of building up, you know, their
- 42:36Speaker 2: might domestically and also being able to do what they
- 42:39Speaker 2: want to do and secure the supply lines they want
- 42:41Speaker 2: to secure around the world. I thought that was actually
- 42:43Speaker 2: a very insightful view of where we are, because it's true,
- 42:47Speaker 2: you know where even he says they work for Israel
- 42:49Speaker 2: because Israel is willing to, you know, just go completely
- 42:52Speaker 2: bugwild and commit genocide. Is this working for Israel, even Israel,
- 42:56Speaker 2: you know, I mean their genocide and God us that
- 43:00Speaker 2: really made things better for them. Their state has its
- 43:02Speaker 2: own problems and is in a sort of their own
- 43:04Speaker 2: existential potential catastrophe of their own making because of their
- 43:09Speaker 2: insane actions too.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. It's fascinating actually, if you would to
- 43:13Speaker 1: put think about it like in historical terms. I was
- 43:15Speaker 1: thinking a lot about this conflict in the context of
- 43:17Speaker 1: World War One, where before the First World War, there
- 43:20Speaker 1: was something called the cult of the offensive in a
- 43:22Speaker 1: lot of these militaries where this idea, so you have
- 43:25Speaker 1: these gigantic armies with mans and arms that you can
- 43:28Speaker 1: just take over places. But what they didn't foresee was
- 43:31Speaker 1: that the cult of the offensive, always running forward, would
- 43:34Speaker 1: run into something called the machine gun. And so what
- 43:37Speaker 1: happens very quickly on the Western Front is the trench warfare.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I actually think the drones are very analogous to that.
- 43:43Speaker 1: We're prior to a drone technology, the conventional United States
- 43:46Speaker 1: military could very easily be able to shoot down incoming
- 43:50Speaker 1: missiles to take over the Straight of Hormuz and all that.
- 43:53Speaker 1: And look, we still do retain the ability to take
- 43:55Speaker 1: the control the Straight of Hormons, we would just have to, oh,
- 43:58Speaker 1: I don't know, occupy the entire country of Iran. But
- 44:00Speaker 1: even if we were to occupy it, they wouldn't just
- 44:02Speaker 1: be getting shot with bullets and missiles. They'd be really
- 44:05Speaker 1: the number one way they would die, as we see
- 44:07Speaker 1: currently in the Russia and Ukraine war, is they would
- 44:09Speaker 1: die in the hands of these drones, and then the
- 44:11Speaker 1: drones would disrupt the entire supply chain. So I think
- 44:15Speaker 1: what the drone warfare and the development of the last
- 44:17Speaker 1: just probably ten years, I remember seeing some preliminary drone
- 44:21Speaker 1: stuff in Syria has dramatically made it so that the
- 44:25Speaker 1: entire conventional military apparatus, which was the peace dividend of
- 44:31Speaker 1: the United States military post Gulf War, basically evaporated overnight.
- 44:35Speaker 1: And we're just going to have to deal with that,
- 44:37Speaker 1: Like that's the truth. It's kind of like the battleship
- 44:40Speaker 1: for people who are familiar with that, or even the
- 44:43Speaker 1: original idea that aircraft carriers or that US Navy assets
- 44:48Speaker 1: were invulnerable that prior to World War Two, there was
- 44:50Speaker 1: a genuine theory they believe in the Navy that a
- 44:54Speaker 1: battleship or any of these other naval assets could not
- 44:57Speaker 1: be sunk by an aircraft, and then war happened. And
- 45:00Speaker 1: even though this was disproved by members of the United
- 45:03Speaker 1: States Air Force or Air Army, airhorpsor whatever at the time,
- 45:06Speaker 1: they just went forward, it's not possible. And then you
- 45:09Speaker 1: get into a war whre Japan, You're like, holy shit,
- 45:11Speaker 1: They're like, what are we going to do about all
- 45:12Speaker 1: these aircraft? I think the drone is very similar, and
- 45:16Speaker 1: you have to rethink everything. And I'm only saying this
- 45:19Speaker 1: in terms of that disrupts a fundamental theory of American
- 45:23Speaker 1: power which has existed for you in my entire lifetime
- 45:27Speaker 1: before we were even born, frankly, in terms of the
- 45:29Speaker 1: Cold War and all that. And to deal with that
- 45:32Speaker 1: in real time requires people who are really intelligent, who
- 45:36Speaker 1: think very deeply, who can recognize the stakes that are
- 45:40Speaker 1: ahead of us. And I would say, I actually, I
- 45:42Speaker 1: always believe that JD was a person like that, you know,
- 45:45Speaker 1: and I mean, maybe he still is. But it almost
- 45:48Speaker 1: doesn't matter at this point, because you had the chance
- 45:52Speaker 1: to prove the ability to do differently. And if this
- 45:55Speaker 1: is the best we can get is some half ass
- 45:57Speaker 1: cease fire which barely lasts two weeks, that's not necessarily
- 46:02Speaker 1: a reflection on you, because it's mostly on Trump. But
- 46:05Speaker 1: if that's the if your best efforts can only result
- 46:07Speaker 1: in this, then it's a failure. I mean, what else
- 46:10Speaker 1: can you call it. I don't know, frankly, if any
- 46:12Speaker 1: of that really exists in our current political system, which
- 46:15Speaker 1: is what makes me really like dire thinking about it
- 46:18Speaker 1: in the future. But I do think you know Tim's comments,
- 46:21Speaker 1: and I do think he's the most incisive political comedian
- 46:25Speaker 1: really who is currently working specifically on the surveillance state
- 46:28Speaker 1: and others. It sends a chill because at the same
- 46:32Speaker 1: there are rivals surveillance states in the in the world,
- 46:35Speaker 1: Singapore and China, And call me unpatriotic. I would rather
- 46:40Speaker 1: live there under their surveillance than ours, because ours is
- 46:43Speaker 1: private companies, local contracts, oli gark, you know whatever, like
- 46:48Speaker 1: selective enforcement of the rules. Here, we simultaneously live in
- 46:51Speaker 1: a surveillance state and a shithole. At least over there
- 46:54Speaker 1: it's nice, you know, It's like there's no gum or
- 46:56Speaker 1: whatever on the streets, and the law is equally applied
- 46:59Speaker 1: to everyone and the government has total control. Yes, I
- 47:02Speaker 1: know that sounds authoritarian, but like here, we don't even
- 47:05Speaker 1: have real authoritarianism. It's like oligarchical authoritarians.
- 47:09Speaker 2: We've got all like the worst aspects of authoritarians, the upside, right.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I saw somebody say. I saw somebody say it's like,
- 47:15Speaker 1: you know, in Los Angeles, it's like you can ship
- 47:18Speaker 1: in the streets and take fentanyl, but if you jaywalk,
- 47:20Speaker 1: you know, you will get a ticket from the flock camera.
- 47:22Speaker 1: And it's like, I'm only living in a world where
- 47:24Speaker 1: both people are getting tickets, right, But we don't live
- 47:26Speaker 1: in that. So like that's the blue example, the red example.
- 47:29Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm trying to think.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Of, well, aw about I mean the going back to
- 47:31Speaker 2: the insider trading thing, like you have the teleprompter operator.
- 47:35Speaker 2: You're getting popped if you're you know, Jared Kushner, Steve
- 47:38Speaker 2: Witkoff or whoever, or doing their deals and profiting off
- 47:41Speaker 2: of their position there.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Oh that's fine and good and you're never going to.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Face So that's a perfect white collar example, right. It's like,
- 47:46Speaker 1: I want to live in a world where everybody gets
- 47:48Speaker 1: equally prosecuted, but we don't have that. So it's like,
- 47:50Speaker 1: can you really then, you know, want a surveillance system
- 47:53Speaker 1: so yeah, I mean, things are bad. Just keep saying.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm like, things are really bad. I've been in a
- 47:58Speaker 1: long you know kick reading about I know you are too,
- 48:01Speaker 1: about Whymar. Oh yeah, and uh you know, not just Wymar,
