Transcript
- 0:01Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed episode 128.
- 0:04Dayna Roselli: Adele announced the rescheduled dates for her show at Caesars Palace.
- 0:08Dayna Roselli: Hear the reaction from fans who were let down when she canceled at the last minute.
- 0:13Sean McAllister: Red Rock Resort is set for a major glow-up.
- 0:16Sean McAllister: We reveal the renovation plans and the world-famous restaurant that'll be moving in.
- 0:22Dayna Roselli: And a nightlife favorite is making a comeback, but this time the entertainment will be all new.
- 0:29Sean McAllister: Let's get to it and spin that wheel.
- 0:47Dayna Roselli: And I love this, Sean, because a lot of them are like new things.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: Like it's like breaking news all across the board.
- 0:53Sean McAllister: I know.
- 0:54Sean McAllister: It's crazy.
- 0:54Sean McAllister: And I think the biggest news that is probably uh worldwide news is that Adele has finally announced the rescheduled dates of her weekends with Adele residency.
- 1:07Sean McAllister: And now fans know when Adele's going to be back on stage here in Vegas.
- 1:11Sean McAllister: It was up in the air, really.
- 1:12Dayna Roselli: I know everyone was saying, I don't think she's going to reschedule at the beginning.
- 1:16Dayna Roselli: If this ever happens, I don't know.
- 1:18Dayna Roselli: We'll have to wait until you know we have to see it before we believe it and that kind of thing.
- 1:21Dayna Roselli: You know, her famous uh social media posts, the video where she's very distraught and she announces in the final hour, like you said, was all the rage and all the talk.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: But everyone was going, Well, she's in like London performing at award shows and doing concerts.
- 1:37Dayna Roselli: Hello, TV specials.
- 1:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, what about Vegas?
- 1:40Dayna Roselli: And finally, I mean, everyone was like, if she does not make right on this, that's gonna be an issue.
- 1:45Sean McAllister: I know, I know.
- 1:46Sean McAllister: Uh, so apparently the new dates are November of this year through March of 2023, and again, it's taking place.
- 1:56Sean McAllister: The show's happening at uh the Coliseum at Caesars Palace.
- 2:01Sean McAllister: Um and the reaction, people are excited that she's coming, but there's also, like you were saying, still a group of people who are like, I'll believe it when I see it.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: And then also there are those p fans that came in and were frustrated because they booked a weekend here, and then they were like, Well, what are we gonna do now?
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: And how am I gonna get the time off?
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: And and all that kind of thing.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: So we'll have to see.
- 2:27Dayna Roselli: Reading some of the responses on Twitter, um, uh there's one from uh Don Bueller who says, Guess I better book my trip all over again since I showed up to Vegas last time and it was canceled, but I'm looking forward to the show.
- 2:39Dayna Roselli: And others saying we love you, um, others saying we're so ready, somebody saying my heart is racing.
- 2:45Dayna Roselli: And then someone wrote, Wait, so if we have the tickets already, do we have to get a refund and rebuy through the pre-sale?
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: So everyone's kind of a little confused on how it's all working, is somebody saying I'm selling mine for January 20th.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: Let me know if you're interested.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: So there's a whole back and forth on Twitter about how this is all gonna work.
- 3:04Sean McAllister: Well, and if you remember when tickets went on sale last time, there were a handful of tickets for around 85 bucks.
- 3:12Sean McAllister: I don't think there were a lot of those because then it kind of jumped up to like 600 bucks, and that was up in the balcony.
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:21Sean McAllister: When you were down front, tickets were like 20,000 each.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: Insane.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: People were saying, like, this is unreal.
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: They would never seen anything like that really in Vegas before.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: So it'll be interesting to see the pricing, what's gonna happen.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: Um, she says in her tweet that she feels like she made the best decision and promises to make up on it.
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: I was asking you, and you did a well, we had chatted with someone and and did a quick little research on the COVID testing.
- 3:49Dayna Roselli: Because last time that was a big deal because every single person had to get a test and show that it was negative and get it on site or come in with test results.
- 3:58Dayna Roselli: I forget how that works.
- 3:59Sean McAllister: No, I believe it was all on site.
- 4:00Sean McAllister: You needed to have proof of vaccination plus have a negative COVID test on site.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:10Sean McAllister: Which I mean, really was unrealistic for the number of people who need to be tested and to have it be on site, and for people uh when you mix travel plans in with that, it just really was unrealistic.
- 4:24Sean McAllister: Um did reach out to a source who knows what's going on, and uh were told that the testing requirement is no longer in effect.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: You still need to show proof of vaccination, but no longer need the negative test.
- 4:42Dayna Roselli: Interesting.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: So that makes life a lot easier for not only fans, but the people who would be in charge of administering all that and making it all happen.
- 4:55Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, I'm glad she's doing it.
- 4:57Dayna Roselli: It left a big hole in the schedule at Caesars Palace at the Coliseum, right?
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, Keith Urban came in to take on a couple shows.
- 5:04Dayna Roselli: I did hear, and I don't know if that was confirmed, that a bunch of workers had to be kind of, I don't say, laid off but temporarily furloughed.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: They didn't need them, yeah.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: So I mean, this is she's gotta make up for it, and and we'll see what she does.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: It's Adele.
- 5:17Dayna Roselli: I mean, people are excited.
- 5:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, and before the the last show in the days leading up to what was supposed to be the opening of the show, uh, there were a lot of Las Vegas uh entertainers who were you know reportedly part of this big choir that was going to be performing on stage with Adele during one of the numbers.
- 5:40Sean McAllister: I believe it was Skyfall, um, the James Bond theme.
- 5:44Sean McAllister: Um so it'll be interesting to see if these local Las Vegas entertainers are brought back to be uh part of this show.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it it will.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: I don't know if she's gonna do it different, has a different, you know, or keep it the same.
- 5:57Dayna Roselli: And we don't really know.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: We've heard so many little bits and pieces.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: So Adele is coming back uh in November, apparently.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: I'm sure a lot of people are gonna book their flight thinking, man, I really hope this goes through.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, you know what?
- 6:10Sean McAllister: For everyone involved, I hope that it goes smoothly and that the shows are a success, and that I hope Adele is happy with it.
- 6:20Sean McAllister: I hope fans are happy with it because it was definitely a really, really, really rocky start.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: It was, yeah.
- 6:29Dayna Roselli: All right, well, hopefully she won't beg and things will go on.
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: Hey, some good news for one of our locals' casinos out to the west.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: And I say locals because it's a station casino, which isn't close to the strip, but a lot of people love Red Rock Resort.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: It's one of our most popular, I would say, off-strip casinos, wouldn't you say?
- 6:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I've heard actually more and more um people coming in and staying at uh Red Rock or Green Valley Ranch, uh, these station casinos that are off the strip because it kind of is a more low-key kind of vibe than staying right down on the strip, but you're still in you know great proximity to all the action.
- 7:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, top notch too, you know, resorts, right?
- 7:13Dayna Roselli: It's not yeah.
- 7:14Sean McAllister: Without a doubt.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: And Red Rock is ready to do some transforming, I should say.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: They're doing like this casino-wide transformation that includes a bunch of different things.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: So they made the announcement.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: Um, we're actually recording this on a Monday because we're busy at the second half of the week.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: So they made the announcement today.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: Um and they've got a whole bunch of things coming, and one of them is the restaurant Lotus of Siam, which is so popular around the world.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: Celebrities have been going to Lotus of Siam here in Las Vegas, which is located um in two different spots, but the most popular one just off East Sahara, off the strip.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: And people, it's like a destination spot for that kind of food.
- 7:53Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah, an award-winning, a James Beard award-winning restaurant, which that's like the Oscars of the food world.
- 8:02Sean McAllister: Um, so it's so well known among foodie crowd, like you said, there's celebrities as well.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: Um, but the owner of Lotus of Siam partnered with a longtime Las Vegas nightlife executive to create the Boa Food Group, which BUA means Lotus in Thai.
- 8:23Sean McAllister: Oh, I like that.
- 8:24Sean McAllister: So, you know, it all comes together.
- 8:26Sean McAllister: And so they're kind of taking over the new uh restaurants that are going in over at Red Rock Resort and kind of revitalizing the offerings that they have over there.
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and that's the most popular name, but yeah, and they're opening, I guess, two other concepts there too.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: So yeah, they've got a whole, you know, group themselves now that are probably gonna bring incredible food to Las Vegas in in different ways.
- 8:54Sean McAllister: So without a doubt.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: That's gonna be great.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: Lotus of Siam, when did we say that's supposed to open?
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: That's uh supposed to open actually the end of 2022, right?
- 9:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, so soon.
- 9:03Sean McAllister: So probably fall winter, uh, we can expect Lotus of Siam to open.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: The other two restaurants um that the Boa Food Group is uh opening over at Red Rock Resort, uh Naxos Taverna, which is a Greek seafood focused restaurant, which should be just delicious.
- 9:24Sean McAllister: Like nice light food.
- 9:27Sean McAllister: I wonder if they'll have the Spanacopata on the menu, too.
- 9:30Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 9:30Dayna Roselli: That's good stuff.
- 9:31Sean McAllister: Spanacopata's great.
- 9:33Dayna Roselli: But I guess it's Greek seafood-focused cuisine.
- 9:35Dayna Roselli: So for people who love seafood, and then right near that, I guess, right next to the entrance, they're gonna debut an oyster bar.
- 9:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, uh, Callisto Oyster Bar, which there's another station casino, Palace Station, yeah, that has a famous oyster bar.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: So I'm sure that they're hoping that uh this new oyster bar is going to, you know, create another outlet for oyster lovers.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's always busy whenever I walk by at Palace Station.
- 10:07Dayna Roselli: The whole bar's full, right?
- 10:08Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 10:08Sean McAllister: It is, it's a small area.
- 10:10Sean McAllister: Oyster.
- 10:10Sean McAllister: So it's highly coveted space.
- 10:12Dayna Roselli: There was one at the I think it was the Orleans too.
- 10:14Dayna Roselli: Whenever I go to the movies, I see everyone at the Oyster Bar there, too.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: They have something similar.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's not a station casino, but whenever I walk by, the oyster bars are popular.
- 10:22Sean McAllister: Oh, maybe we should do a a tour, an oyster bar tour for one episode.
- 10:27Dayna Roselli: Who has the best oysters?
- 10:28Dayna Roselli: I don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: I know the difference between like fresh and not.
- 10:33Sean McAllister: Well, yeah.
- 10:34Sean McAllister: Because the not would send you away for a little bit.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: It sure would.
- 10:40Dayna Roselli: Red Rock also um is working on a casino bar, which will be located right between Lotus of Siam and the uh next house to Vernum.
- 10:47Dayna Roselli: And it's gonna be a great place, they say, for pre-dinner cocktails or a nightcap.
- 10:51Dayna Roselli: We've got a cocktail lounge um that will open in the former space of Crimson.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: And so apparently it's gonna be like transformed into kind of a throwback upscale cocktail lounge set to debut this winter.
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: And that's the space where they used to do the themed Mary Crimson.
- 11:08Dayna Roselli: Merry Crimson and the spring in bloom and all that, right?
- 11:11Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 11:12Sean McAllister: And there's also a pool attached to that space.
- 11:15Sean McAllister: There's an outdoor patio area uh at Crimson, and that's going to be converted into an adults-only pool.
- 11:22Sean McAllister: Oh, I like that.
- 11:23Sean McAllister: Which is a that's gonna be a great area.
- 11:25Sean McAllister: They have lots of uh cabanas and day beds out there.
- 11:28Sean McAllister: There's an outdoor bar, so that area will be adults only when the renovation is complete.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: They're getting another Starbucks, they already have one.
- 11:37Dayna Roselli: Now they're gonna have two, which is really cool, and then a high limit slots area and Nielsen's frozen custard, which you said is really good.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: I've never had it.
- 11:45Sean McAllister: It is.
- 11:45Sean McAllister: Where did you have it?
- 11:46Sean McAllister: Here.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: There was one uh right around the corner from our old house here.
- 11:52Sean McAllister: Okay, and we would go down there, they have their custard is so good.
- 11:56Sean McAllister: So good.
- 11:57Sean McAllister: Interesting.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: I love anything custard because you and I are from Rochester, New York, where Abbott's Abbott's frozen custard is really popular.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: And so when I hear custard, I get excited.
- 12:06Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: I like ice cream, but custard, there's something about it.
- 12:09Sean McAllister: And the and I I think Nielsen's uh they're the ones that have the really unique uh ice cream scooper.
- 12:16Sean McAllister: It comes out kind of like in a a cylinder.
- 12:18Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 12:19Sean McAllister: So you scoop it in the bin and it comes out in into your cone in the in the cylinder, but they also have great uh concrete, you know, where they mix in like Reese's peanut butter cup chunks into the custard.
- 12:33Sean McAllister: So good.
- 12:34Sean McAllister: It's basically like a uh what do they call them at McDonald's, like a McFlurry?
- 12:39Dayna Roselli: Right, or the Dairy Queen blizzard.
- 12:41Dayna Roselli: Yes, like that.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: Yes, but they call them concrete.
- 12:44Dayna Roselli: Oh, concrete.
- 12:45Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 12:45Sean McAllister: I like it.
- 12:46Sean McAllister: Oh, it's so good.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 12:49Dayna Roselli: Well, it says featuring freshly made frozen custard on site every hour, so they must like re- you know, like batch it up every hour.
- 12:56Dayna Roselli: So it's super fresh.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: So that will open uh the Nielsen's frozen custard at the beginning of 2023.
- 13:04Sean McAllister: Oh, cool.
- 13:05Dayna Roselli: All right, so Red Rock getting a redo.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: We love that, always bringing new stuff.
- 13:09Dayna Roselli: So congratulations to them.
- 13:11Dayna Roselli: We already told everyone about the palms reopening, and that's been been kicking ever since.
- 13:15Dayna Roselli: And now finally, and and we mentioned this in the past, we have a date that the ghost bar is going to reopen.
- 13:21Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: Uh, August 3rd, which is coming up here really quick.
- 13:25Sean McAllister: It is.
- 13:26Dayna Roselli: Now, we've talked about Ghost Bar in the past, and it you know opened in 2001.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: It was open to the Palms for a very long time.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: Then it it it was still the same space still existed.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: Then they opened it as uh Apex, it was called.
- 13:39Dayna Roselli: Right took the Ghost Bar name away.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: So basically, they're bringing back the Ghost Bar name.
- 13:44Dayna Roselli: It's on the 55th floor of the Palms, incredible view of the strip.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: It's iconic.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: If you ever watched the real world on MTV at the very beginning, they all worked there, it was a part of the show.
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: So it's been a popular place for years.
- 13:57Sean McAllister: Well, and one of the great parts about Ghost Bar as being a sky lounge, it has one of the most unique views of Las Vegas because you can see the entire strip from north to south.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 14:12Sean McAllister: It's uh fabulous, and it's kind of perched up a little bit on the hill.
- 14:17Sean McAllister: Like Flamingo Road goes up the hill.
- 14:20Sean McAllister: I bonked the mic.
- 14:21Sean McAllister: Um Flamingo goes up in elevation a little bit.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: So the land that the palm sits on is elevated, and then when you go up 55 floors from there, it's a phenomenal view.
- 14:34Sean McAllister: You're almost like above the skyline of the Las Vegas strip.
- 14:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it I think I told you I went to a wedding recently and it was in the next tower, but set kind of same area equivalent, and it made me reminded me what a great view it is.
- 14:49Sean McAllister: It is because you're right, it's so nice up there.
- 14:51Dayna Roselli: It's just you can see the whole strip from north to south.
- 14:54Dayna Roselli: So it's uh you're not on the strip where you're looking.
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's a cool view too.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: When you're looking, you're right in it, but this is a different kind of view.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: But then uh I wonder if it's still there that there was a portion of Ghost Bar that overhangs the strip that had a glass floor where you could look straight down.
- 15:12Dayna Roselli: It was like a little square, it wasn't very big.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, but people would actually go to find that spot and you look down, and you were like, whoa, you could see the bottom.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: And it was part of it, right?
- 15:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: So I don't know.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: I'm sure, I'm sure I think it's gotta still be there, right?
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: I don't think they'd take it out and put something different.
- 15:27Sean McAllister: So tiles, no.
- 15:29Dayna Roselli: I know, but what will be different is the entertainment up there.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: We've um, I think talked about Sky D Miles uh in the past.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: She's a fabulous performer located here in Las Vegas.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: She used to perform, I mean, she's performed in so many different places.
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: Rose Rabbit Lie, The Tropicana.
- 15:45Dayna Roselli: Uh, she's at Virgin Hotels right now, and she's moving over to the Palms.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: And I love this.
- 15:50Dayna Roselli: So, so we were going, well, wait, how's this gonna work?
- 15:52Dayna Roselli: So I best basically they're gonna have like DJs there to kind of ramp up the party every night, and it kind of builds momentum for Midnight Sky, named after Sky, which is kind of what they're calling gonna like be the rebirth of cool in Las Vegas.
- 16:08Dayna Roselli: They say it's gonna be hip, sexy, soulful, a touch of class and beauty.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: She's gonna be joined by live bands, sultry dancers, specialty acts, surprise guests.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: And so they're having this music theme kind of rooted in soul up there.
- 16:23Dayna Roselli: And apparently they're calling it it's gonna be the funkiest good time in Las Vegas.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: So it's a whole kind of different thing.
- 16:30Sean McAllister: That's kind of cool.
- 16:30Sean McAllister: It kind of reminds me of like not reminds me like I was there, but the stories of old Las Vegas when you know the rat pack would be up on stage for a late night show, and then performers from other Vegas shows, when they were done, they would pop over there and there would be collaborations.
- 16:48Sean McAllister: I wonder if it's gonna be that same kind of vibe.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: True.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: And when Sky was at the Tropicana, it was kind of like that as well.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: She had the lounge there that was super popular.
- 16:59Dayna Roselli: But the best part about this is you're right, it's gonna be that, but with a view.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, like the whole ambiance is gonna be kicking.
- 17:06Sean McAllister: That's great.
- 17:07Dayna Roselli: It's a great idea, right?
- 17:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Sky is fabulous in the promo video.
- 17:11Dayna Roselli: She's all in feathers and you know, of course.
- 17:14Sean McAllister: We need to take a trip over to Sky's wardrobe.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: We do.
- 17:19Sean McAllister: Because man.
- 17:20Sean McAllister: She's the best.
- 17:21Sean McAllister: She it's fabulous, I think is the only word that can use be used to describe it.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: And she's a great ad libber, right?
- 17:29Dayna Roselli: She works the room and she's just so much fun.
- 17:31Dayna Roselli: Looking forward to that.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: Again, Ghost Bar opens on August 3rd.
- 17:35Dayna Roselli: But we got a few tips that we want to get to right now.
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: So let's let's do it, Sean.
- 17:39Dayna Roselli: What do you think?
- 17:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, tips.
- 17:40Dayna Roselli: Here we are.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: Uh, we have football fans from around the world who, of course, are focused on the Las Vegas Raiders who are in training camp right now.
- 17:54Sean McAllister: But there's a different kind of football fan that's going to be descending on Las Vegas uh coming up this fall, Dana.
- 18:02Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 18:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, we have a large pool of Liverpool fans here in town.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: And, you know, our friend Stacy, that is Galani, is always posting that she's a Liverpool fan and her husband.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: And I'm always like, well, what how did this all happen?
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: So we were recently at a pool party with them, and he was explaining how he he loves their backstory and the fan backstory, and they are just firm believers and have become major fans of Liverpool.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: And we're talking about soccer, football, right?
- 18:33Dayna Roselli: So they're having a big event in Las Vegas.
- 18:36Dayna Roselli: Stacey said, Hey, will you talk about this?
- 18:37Dayna Roselli: Because we want people to know.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: And we said, you know what, this is perfect because we have listeners from around the world that may want to come in for this.
- 18:42Sean McAllister: Right.
- 18:43Sean McAllister: And so what this is, this is a one-week fan event that's taking place in multiple cities, some on the East Coast.
