- 0:05Speaker 1: Hello, my loves and welcome back to give them while
- 0:08Speaker 1: a podcast. I'm hyped as it gets today because it
- 0:12Speaker 1: is a rare occasion that I can get my mom
- 0:15Speaker 1: and little brother into the same room to record a podcast,
- 0:20Speaker 1: and because today is that day, we get to do
- 0:23Speaker 1: it all right, So not only do we get to
- 0:27Speaker 1: celebrate the holidays that are coming up, but it's also
- 0:32Speaker 1: a time that we get to celebrate my mama's birthday.
- 0:37Speaker 2: To you, this is so exciting. I love. I always
- 0:45Speaker 2: ask people on their birthdays. Is there anything that you've
- 0:49Speaker 2: learned about yourself this past year?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Ooh, I love this question.
- 0:53Speaker 3: You know what, I think I've learned a lot about
- 0:56Speaker 3: this entire family and how strong we are, how we
- 0:59Speaker 3: cope with things. Yeah, and how blessed I am to
- 1:02Speaker 3: have these little munchkins in my life and my new
- 1:05Speaker 3: little grand baby that I'm just smitten.
- 1:07Speaker 2: With the best gig in the world.
- 1:11Speaker 3: This morning, she was so cute. She says happy, and
- 1:14Speaker 3: we're working on birthday, but she was so stinking cute
- 1:17Speaker 3: this morning.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Did she say happy? Would she say like happy?
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:22Speaker 3: She goes happy and then she had the rail. But
- 1:27Speaker 3: we woke up to her this morning, went into her
- 1:31Speaker 3: bedroom and she knows how to zip her little pajamas.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:35Speaker 3: She was zipping them up and down, and she was
- 1:37Speaker 3: so enthralled that she didn't even realize that we were
- 1:40Speaker 3: in the room. Melts my heart, melts my Oh.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I love that, Mama. I'm so happy that I brought
- 1:48Speaker 1: that little gift into the world.
- 1:51Speaker 2: She's the best. I was just saying, may, I was
- 1:54Speaker 2: just saying, how I have anxiety today or like sadness.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It might honestly be because I us see Ocean on
- 2:01Speaker 2: Mondays and I didn't get to see her yesterday.
- 2:03Speaker 1: That might be it. It's okay, I'll see her soon.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Oh, I know the best thing that's ever happened to us.
- 2:08Speaker 3: For sure.
- 2:09Speaker 1: She really is. Mom. I'm very curious because as we
- 2:12Speaker 1: were walking to get breakfast and I told my mom, like, bitch,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I got to get you on the podcast. And she
- 2:17Speaker 1: was like, well, I have a story for you that
- 2:20Speaker 1: I heard on the radio. And I was like, tell me.
- 2:23Speaker 1: She said, I'm waiting for the podcast. I said, you're
- 2:25Speaker 1: going to tell me now because I need to make
- 2:27Speaker 1: sure it's approved one podcast, And she goes, it's approved,
- 2:30Speaker 1: trust me, So tell me what you heard on the radio.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Okay, So I was listening to the radio this morning
- 2:34Speaker 3: when I was in the car, and this cute little
- 2:37Speaker 3: DJ was talking about this story about this man that
- 2:41Speaker 3: was walking across the street on Librea and Sixth Street
- 2:45Speaker 3: and two people like totally jumped him for his watch. What, Yes,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and they got his watch. But there were citizens arrest
- 2:55Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it. They caught the two
- 2:58Speaker 3: culprits and arrested them. And now obviously you know they've
- 3:01Speaker 3: got all burglary whatever you want to call it, but
- 3:04Speaker 3: they've traumatized this man. And the thing I want to
- 3:07Speaker 3: put out there is it's the time of year, it's
- 3:10Speaker 3: Christmas holidays, and people need to be aware of their surroundings.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Don't take nice bags out, don't take nice jewelry out
- 3:17Speaker 3: if you're walking, and just be aware.
- 3:20Speaker 1: But you should also take that advice.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I'm going to heed my own advice today after hearing
- 3:24Speaker 3: that story.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yes, because Lisa, you have beautiful.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Bags, yes, and I like to and I like to
- 3:30Speaker 3: use my bag.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Of course, but right now you just throw on your
- 3:34Speaker 1: little crocheted bag and you like, I was actually thinking
- 3:37Speaker 1: today when we were walking, I have these earrings in
- 3:40Speaker 1: and their cubics are conna all right, Like you want them, thief,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I'll just give them to you. They're like a hundred bucks.
- 3:47Speaker 2: They don't look at though.
- 3:48Speaker 1: But that's what worries me is if someone were to
- 3:52Speaker 1: see me, yeah, and they thought, like I think about
- 3:55Speaker 1: this all the time. My engagement ring, you know, it
- 3:59Speaker 1: was display is one hundred and fifty thousand, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and it wasn't that what.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I lost still worth in the thousands.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Is it's still very very excitive take. But a thief
- 4:10Speaker 1: thinking they're going to take my hand off and get
- 4:11Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty thousand for it, they would be
- 4:13Speaker 1: very very upset and disappointed. And now I'm left without
- 4:16Speaker 1: a hand. You have a ring that's not worth six figures,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and everyone's fucked in this situation.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Was the guy that got jumped hurt? Did he have
- 4:26Speaker 2: to go to the house?
- 4:26Speaker 4: I don't say that he was hurt, traumatized or aumatized,
- 4:31Speaker 4: you would not be yes, absolutely, so yeah, you know,
- 4:35Speaker 4: just be aware of your surroundings, don't flash your stuff
- 4:37Speaker 4: this time of year, and be giving.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You see somebody that needs help, give them some help.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You see someone who wants to jump, you just give
- 4:45Speaker 1: him the watch.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Well, you should give them what they want because you
- 4:49Speaker 3: don't want to lose.
- 4:49Speaker 1: No, lie, I know. Can I tell you before we
- 4:52Speaker 1: started this, it's all about stay in the light. If
- 4:54Speaker 1: I don't make jokes, I will crawl in a hole
- 4:57Speaker 1: and be in the fetal position until I die.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Yes, holidays make people go a little nuts.
- 5:02Speaker 1: No, it is scary, I told I told my family, like,
- 5:05Speaker 1: we got it kind of hunger down because it's scary
- 5:08Speaker 1: out here. So just be safe, everybody.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Well, even when we were in Palm Springs and we
- 5:13Speaker 3: went to that nice steakhouse and we had all those
- 5:15Speaker 3: leftovers because there were so many of us, and that
- 5:17Speaker 3: cute man kind of said something to me under his breath,
- 5:20Speaker 3: and I said, excuse me, what did you say? And
- 5:21Speaker 3: he said, do you have any food? So what did
- 5:24Speaker 3: we do? We gave him all of our leftovers and
- 5:26Speaker 3: he was thrilled.
- 5:27Speaker 1: He was like he was so you know, even that
- 5:30Speaker 1: was the night we had been ransacked the same night.
- 5:35Speaker 1: How does that work?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, So karma, ebbs and flows.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I think they stole my bobble ring. It looked like
- 5:43Speaker 3: my little It was a ring I got in Puerto Rico,
- 5:45Speaker 3: and it looked literally like one of those sucker rings.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Okay, big it was.
- 5:49Speaker 2: This is exciting. You're on, Lisa, because give your your
- 5:53Speaker 2: encounter or your memory of what happened when you were ransacked,
- 5:57Speaker 2: because it sounded like you came in and you are
- 6:00Speaker 2: just upset.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I was because I went to the car, I opened
- 6:04Speaker 3: the door. Everything was askew in the car ran sick open, Yes,
- 6:10Speaker 3: it was ran sick. The arm like, the center console
- 6:15Speaker 3: was up, everything was thrown everywhere. Well, my biggest fear
- 6:19Speaker 3: was is we had the diaper bag in the car.
- 6:22Speaker 3: My wallet was in the car Lauren's whilet was in
- 6:24Speaker 3: the diaper bag with my wallet, and I had stupidly
- 6:29Speaker 3: put two thousand, two hundred dollars in my wallet rich
- 6:33Speaker 3: because I bank to pay my property taxes Saint George, Utah.
- 6:42Speaker 2: But it wasn't right.
- 6:43Speaker 3: No, but my car also, so I don't.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Be carrying cash around these times.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That's everyone be careful twenty two hundred dollars in your
- 6:53Speaker 1: wallet at all times and make sure you leave it
- 6:55Speaker 1: in the car that's unlocked.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So I really thought when I came back in, because
- 7:00Speaker 3: the backpack was gone and I had gone through the house,
- 7:02Speaker 3: the diaper bag I should say I had gone through
- 7:04Speaker 3: the house and it wasn't there.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And a week it was just where it was in
- 7:09Speaker 1: plain view, right where i'd been the night before. The
- 7:13Speaker 1: when you walk in, it was literally right there, just
- 7:17Speaker 1: why I looked. I looked Lauren, and I was like, okay,
- 7:22Speaker 1: everyone calmed down anyway.
- 7:27Speaker 3: So then, but my bobblery got left in the car
- 7:29Speaker 3: because Ocean wanted to play with it, and I was
- 7:31Speaker 3: worried she'd somehow swallow it. So I gave it to
- 7:34Speaker 3: Lauren to put in the side door. And then I
- 7:38Speaker 3: didn't get out of the side door.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But he took that, took it.
- 7:43Speaker 1: That's all they took.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Really, I had my ray bands in there. They took it.
- 7:50Speaker 1: She's talking the way we always did. Had my wallet, Nope, didn't.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Even when she came in my roam. What happened?
- 8:04Speaker 1: We have got to get video.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, do you guys do so well?
- 8:10Speaker 2: It's incredible, all right?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Well, on the note of us being ransacked and only
- 8:17Speaker 1: a ring being stolen, what are they get that ring? Memories?
- 8:23Speaker 3: But lots of my memories. I found out Lauren like
- 8:26Speaker 3: she was pregnant and we were on the beach in
- 8:30Speaker 3: Puerto Rico. Honestly, we found out in North Carolina that
- 8:33Speaker 3: she was pregnant, but she was pregnant on that trip
- 8:35Speaker 3: doing a movie, and.
- 8:36Speaker 1: It just that was like six months pregnant doing a movie.
- 8:39Speaker 2: You know what I think you guys should do. I
- 8:40Speaker 2: think that means you should do another trip to Puerto
- 8:43Speaker 2: Rico at some point, because you can make even better memories.
- 8:46Speaker 1: We get me another gunball ring exactly, Amensis. So, because
- 8:51Speaker 1: you are sixty two today, fucking hot and an icon
- 8:56Speaker 1: so hot, let's talk about this exp back in the
- 9:02Speaker 1: day because my mom obviously hot now bombshell back in
- 9:06Speaker 1: the day, and there was a man who was her
- 9:10Speaker 1: boss at the time who brought yes and I always
- 9:15Speaker 1: and I was young, but like I'm a smart motherfucker,
- 9:18Speaker 1: right even at that age. Like, I don't like the
- 9:20Speaker 1: way you be looking at my mama. All right, So
- 9:24Speaker 1: Lisa's what was it your mom?
- 9:26Speaker 3: There was some loss. I think your.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Mom or your dad had passed. I think it was
- 9:30Speaker 1: your dad because I was young. It was your dad. Yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 1: he brought you flowers. I don't like this. I don't
- 9:37Speaker 1: like this one bit. Why he bringing you flowers? Bitch?
- 9:40Speaker 1: All right, So Lisa tell the story how you remember?
- 9:43Speaker 1: And then from my seven year old mind, I'm going
- 9:45Speaker 1: to tell the story.
- 9:45Speaker 3: So he delivers the flowers personally, He tells me sorry,
- 9:49Speaker 3: gives me a hug. I put him on the table.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I go upstairs, come back down, and all the petals
- 9:54Speaker 3: are missing on all the flowers.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Stop? Wait?
- 9:59Speaker 2: Why why are the petals missing on the flowers?
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'll tell you why.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Well, first of all, she said he bought cheap flowers.
- 10:07Speaker 1: They're already dead.
- 10:09Speaker 2: She did say that, Wait, you ripped the petals off.
- 10:14Speaker 3: He was cheap, mom, he bought cheap flowers. Every missing
- 10:21Speaker 3: that is the or was it the cushions?
- 10:24Speaker 1: This was my first savage, you know, like my mom
- 10:29Speaker 1: goes to work and you're there. Now you're coming to
- 10:31Speaker 1: my house and hugging on my mam always flowers. I
- 10:35Speaker 1: don't like the optics. I was doing God's work, all right.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I feel he liked my mom.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Who wouldn't though.
- 10:51Speaker 1: He was like a little Mormon boy and Lisa was fun,
- 10:55Speaker 1: hot and blonde. Yeah we're over.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Did you or were you like Lauren?
- 11:02Speaker 3: I didn't get mad at her at all?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Okay, I strategically she like went upstairs, and I immediately tiptoed,
- 11:09Speaker 1: got the garbage, pluck pluckuck, throw him in the trash,
- 11:12Speaker 1: under the endo, the bin again, and then I laid
- 11:14Speaker 1: back down on the heater.
- 11:16Speaker 3: And he had not moved an inch. That's how she acted,
- 11:19Speaker 3: and they just magically disappeared.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That is the funniest thing I've ever heard. You know,
- 11:24Speaker 2: who's going to be like that Ocean Kent, I guarantee it.
- 11:28Speaker 1: No.
- 11:28Speaker 2: She just there's like little attitude things that I'm like, like, well,
- 11:32Speaker 2: I'm going to show her, like I totally exactly how
- 11:35Speaker 2: Ocean is gonna be.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yes, hilarious.
- 11:43Speaker 1: We also talked about how Dad would cover for me,
- 11:45Speaker 1: because yesterday I called you because I don't recall Easton
- 11:48Speaker 1: ever getting hot sauce in his mouth or so, so
- 11:50Speaker 1: I remember the soap.
- 11:51Speaker 5: I do remember this, and it wasn't I remember soap,
- 11:56Speaker 5: but it was almost like we were talking about my dad.
- 11:59Speaker 5: He would cover up. And I probably said something because
- 12:02Speaker 5: I brought up Walter Hogan because I'd always go over.
- 12:04Speaker 1: There and then your naughty words from his top brother brother.
- 12:07Speaker 5: And so I came home and I probably said fuck
- 12:10Speaker 5: or something like that, and I think Dad not wanting
- 12:12Speaker 5: to tell you washed my mouth out, because that was
- 12:15Speaker 5: better than letting you know.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Had I learned it right? Always go to Dad. He
- 12:22Speaker 1: keeps it kosher. And then by the time you tell
- 12:25Speaker 1: Lisa you've let it like sink in, she doesn't need
- 12:27Speaker 1: to go to dad. Dad already knows this is having
- 12:29Speaker 1: Like two months ago. However, Easton was a biter. And
- 12:33Speaker 1: this is what scares me about Ocean, because Ocean, when
- 12:37Speaker 1: that girl is tired, she will fuck you up. She turns,
- 12:42Speaker 1: she turns, all right, I'll sit there and I'll be
- 12:45Speaker 1: loving her, and it's quick, all right, and then she
- 12:48Speaker 1: turns into grabbing your face, pulling your hair, biting.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And she doesn't like with a smile, Oh lovely, it's
- 12:59Speaker 2: like I'm tired now. But it's is it like a
- 13:01Speaker 2: frustration because yeah, you're right, I've seen her do it
- 13:04Speaker 2: before and it's almost like a silliness.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But also unless you're on the receiving end of it,
- 13:10Speaker 1: it is not. I mean, I've never had someone so
- 13:13Speaker 1: strong ever, she's the incredible hult all right.
- 13:17Speaker 3: But can I defend her really quick?
- 13:19Speaker 6: Yes?
- 13:19Speaker 1: Defend her so sweet?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Because after she like does.
- 13:22Speaker 1: That need she beats out of you, she kisses.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Out sweet, is so caring?
- 13:30Speaker 1: Let her bite you? Well, you know, but now now
- 13:33Speaker 1: I know what to do because it happens so quickly
- 13:35Speaker 1: that when I see her turning into tired, I put
- 13:38Speaker 1: her in her crib with her bubba before before I
- 13:44Speaker 1: get you know, that's what it is. Did Easton do that? So?
- 13:47Speaker 1: Easton was a bier? All right? And Lisa, tell me
- 13:51Speaker 1: if you remember this, what did you have because Bob
- 13:54Speaker 1: your dad, my grandfather.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Well, no, I have to tell you. So Easton was
- 13:58Speaker 3: such a bier and la La would hold him by
- 14:01Speaker 3: his forehead and he'd just do these chomming tarn tying
- 14:06Speaker 3: to get at her. It was hysterical. Anyway, he did
- 14:10Speaker 3: the unfortunate thing of biting Lauren when my dad was babysitting.
- 14:16Speaker 3: And I had told my dad that I had heard
- 14:19Speaker 3: that when they bite, you're supposed to bite him back.
- 14:21Speaker 3: So my cute dad did what I had said, bit
- 14:25Speaker 3: him back, and it broke my dad's heart.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Oh no, I scream and cried.
- 14:29Speaker 5: I can't remember, but I remember, but guess what, Oh
- 14:33Speaker 5: I remember everything?
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, but he never bid again.
- 14:35Speaker 1: There's the face again. No, I remember. We were down
- 14:43Speaker 1: in the basement, and he literally my index finger bits
- 14:48Speaker 1: so hard that it almost went all the way through.
- 14:51Speaker 1: All Right, it was not good, And maybe I'm exaggerating,
- 14:53Speaker 1: but I do remember it being pretty intense. Yeah, So
- 14:56Speaker 1: I run upstairs and I get Bob. Bob goes down stairs.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I hear the attack, and.
- 15:06Speaker 6: I'm at the top of the stairs and I see
- 15:08Speaker 6: Bob come around the corner to come up the stairs.
- 15:12Speaker 6: Eastern's sad little face trailing freshly bitten.
- 15:18Speaker 1: No, No, Bob.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Was just heartbroken for the listeners. Bob who was on
- 15:25Speaker 2: fire at one point. Okay, keep going, that's yeah, you did.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Bob's my dad, your grandfather, and he was sad.
- 15:33Speaker 2: He wasn't like ha ha, because that would have.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Been No, it looked like he had seen a ghost. No,
- 15:38Speaker 1: he was deflated.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Where did he bite you on your arm?
- 15:42Speaker 5: Probably, I can't remember.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I was just really but he hasn't
- 15:47Speaker 1: bit everyone, including the neighbor's dog.
- 15:50Speaker 3: The dog he left gum in one of the neighbor's dogs.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Gum. Yeah, because he bit the.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Dog with his gum and the gum got attached to them.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And he tried to say he didn't bite the dog.
- 16:00Speaker 1: How the gum get there, bro.
- 16:02Speaker 2: You guys are the funniest kids ever. When did you
- 16:06Speaker 2: stop biting? Because that's when Ocean, I bet will stop.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Well, I think I still kind of do.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Bite you to hear that, ladies.
- 16:13Speaker 5: No, I don't know when did I stop? Probably right
- 16:16Speaker 5: after Bob bit me, as.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Last year.
- 16:21Speaker 2: You stopped after Actually he stopped after Bob.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah he never did.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Like I don't remember. I don't have a thought of
- 16:28Speaker 5: me like getting in trouble for biting.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so your baby, I will ever bite my baby
- 16:36Speaker 1: like to.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Get them to stop.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I'm not promoting that, Lisa, We're just telling what happened.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And it was a different day and age back then.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But also it was just.
- 16:45Speaker 2: But also Lisa Listeners wrote in a few months ago
- 16:49Speaker 2: when Lalla was first talking about ocean biting, and there
- 16:51Speaker 2: were many, many, many people who said you're supposed to
- 16:55Speaker 2: bite them back. So people still do it.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but can I tell you you also, it's
- 16:59Speaker 1: not it's that weird age right like Ocean right now,
- 17:02Speaker 1: she can't she can't talk, you know, so things that
- 17:06Speaker 1: she say words, no, but she can't when I tell correct,
- 17:11Speaker 1: When I tell Ocean, when you bite Mama, it hurts,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I would appreciate you not doing that, or else I'm
- 17:17Speaker 1: going to do it to you, or because you wouldn't
- 17:20Speaker 1: like it if I did it to you. She doesn't
- 17:22Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So when she gets to the age,
- 17:25Speaker 1: I know she's going to grow out of things. My
- 17:27Speaker 1: child's not going to be in the sixth grade rolling,
- 17:29Speaker 1: I hope bit biting people. She's gonna grow out of it,
- 17:33Speaker 1: or I'll be able to sit her down and say,
- 17:35Speaker 1: if you bite, you're going to time out with.
- 17:38Speaker 5: A bite on you.
- 17:39Speaker 1: No, I'm not biting her, but I mean, I'm telling
- 17:42Speaker 1: you what. That kid will take your head off.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I mean, she's just really she's our genius baby for sure.
- 17:49Speaker 3: She's so smart.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Look when she's tired, she's tired and she needs to
- 17:51Speaker 2: let you know.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I get very aggressive when I get
- 17:56Speaker 1: tired too.
- 17:56Speaker 2: She's such amazing.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So like you get very angry too.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Oh see, that's probably because there's probably aggression or like frustration,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but she doesn't yet know how to let it out.
- 18:07Speaker 2: And she's not a screamer. She's not a screamer.
- 18:10Speaker 1: You know what else it could be? Though? What did
- 18:12Speaker 1: we learn from Courtney Berman the other day.
- 18:13Speaker 5: It was something yeah, because I was.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Telling Courtney at Thanksgiving dinner about this feeling like when
- 18:20Speaker 1: I see ocean, like I get it's called cute. No,
- 18:24Speaker 1: it's called cute aggression. There it is okay. And she said,
- 18:29Speaker 1: when you're hungry, you do something to cure hunger. When
- 18:32Speaker 1: you're tired, you go to sleep. It cures you being tired.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But when you see something that's so cute, there is
- 18:38Speaker 1: nothing to cure that, so you go into like a well.
- 18:41Speaker 3: But can I tell you? I ask her that because
- 18:46Speaker 3: it's like she loves her mom so much. I've witnessed this.
- 18:49Speaker 3: She loves her so much that it's just like she
- 18:51Speaker 3: wants to consumer.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Because the turn doesn't make sense. All right, She'll give
- 18:55Speaker 1: me she'll like squeeze my body and then she'll grab
- 18:59Speaker 1: my face really tight, and then she grabs my hair
- 19:01Speaker 1: and closes it towards her, And I'm like.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I'm so into you that I just wanted like, yes, it's.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Well her look of excited that you posted on your
- 19:14Speaker 2: Instagram story.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yes, and she always like she by like we just
- 19:21Speaker 1: decided as a family, the three of us. The other day,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you don't have to like, listen to this podcast every
- 19:28Speaker 1: episode to know like me likes the funk word, all right,
- 19:32Speaker 1: it just flies out of my mouth. There's nothing like it.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So we decided as a family, because she's getting older,
- 19:40Speaker 1: we have to watch our mouths because she is just
- 19:45Speaker 1: so good. But she picks.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I hear you have you guys ever though, and this
- 19:52Speaker 2: is how it was. I don't know if you knew
- 19:54Speaker 2: people like this. Growing up for me and my siblings,
- 19:57Speaker 2: we were not allowed to swear, not allowed to say
- 20:00Speaker 2: hate or stupid. So by the time we got to
- 20:03Speaker 2: like fifteen six, we all have like sailor mouths, me
- 20:06Speaker 2: and all of my siblings, but all of the friends
- 20:09Speaker 2: I knew, including Kyle, whose parents would swear and then
- 20:12Speaker 2: when they were kids, like if Kyle said a swear word,
- 20:14Speaker 2: they'd be like, oh no, no, no, those are adult words.
- 20:16Speaker 2: You don't say that until you're a certain age. Never swear,
- 20:20Speaker 2: you know what.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Never.
- 20:21Speaker 1: There is something to say about that, because Erica and
- 20:24Speaker 1: Sheena have both told me, and I didn't ever realize this,
- 20:28Speaker 1: but they said the other daughter, she and his sister Courtney,
- 20:32Speaker 1: does not cuss. And I noticed when she was giving
- 20:37Speaker 1: her speech at the wedding, not that you would cuss
- 20:40Speaker 1: during that, but she said something about how she doesn't
- 20:45Speaker 1: curse or something, and I was like, oh my gosh,
- 20:47Speaker 1: I really have never heard you swear at all. And
- 20:50Speaker 1: she and his family's very open too, They're like mine, yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 1: So I don't know. I think you just come how
- 20:53Speaker 1: you are. I think so okay, I had a lot
- 20:55Speaker 1: of freedom, and I'm like, oh, but.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I do guys swear in front of you?
- 21:02Speaker 3: Guys. I was on a rotary phone, I'll never forget it,
- 21:05Speaker 3: on a phone call in the kitchen at my house
- 21:07Speaker 3: when I was young, a teenager, okay, and I said
- 21:11Speaker 3: the word pissed. My mom lost her marbles, like I you.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I guess I was saying the F word to her
- 21:19Speaker 3: because she could not believe that came out of my mouth.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Really, so your mom, Lala and Easton, your mom and
- 21:25Speaker 2: dad didn't swear. It sounds like you growing up and
- 21:28Speaker 2: now you swear a lot. I'm telling you there's something
- 21:30Speaker 2: behind it.
- 21:31Speaker 1: No, my parents they did never.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I never used no.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Never. I don't really remember dancing. Really. The only words
- 21:39Speaker 1: that I really remember flying. I don't love the piss
- 21:42Speaker 1: word either. I think it's just kind of like pissed.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I didn't even think that was a swear word, but
- 21:46Speaker 2: I guess not.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I don't mind. I'm so pissed and I don't care
- 21:50Speaker 1: if someone says I'm so pissed. But when I hear
- 21:52Speaker 1: anyone say I've got to take a piss like that.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Oh, I think that's just like saying no, that's vulgar
- 21:58Speaker 2: and weird.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I thought it was vulgar on this because yeah, and
- 22:02Speaker 1: I won't say the word because people get so offended
- 22:05Speaker 1: by it. But like on the Real Housewives a Beverly
- 22:07Speaker 1: Hills reunion, they were like, which is more insulting, see
- 22:12Speaker 1: you next Tuesday? Being called that or being called evil?
- 22:17Speaker 1: And I was like evil the sea word, like whatever,
- 22:21Speaker 1: But so many people are like deeply offended by the
- 22:24Speaker 1: see you next Tuesday word.
- 22:25Speaker 2: That's wild because I throw that around easier than I say,
- 22:28Speaker 2: like shit, I just have never, like I never I've
- 22:32Speaker 2: said it. I'm on the phone with my parents and
- 22:34Speaker 2: road rage comes out and I say that word, and well,
- 22:38Speaker 2: my mom goes, Jessica.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, disgusting. Nack and Amy don't play. They they do
- 22:44Speaker 1: not play. Yeah, they do not play. But I feel
- 22:48Speaker 1: like if we were to say certain words like back then,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you would feel differently like I don't know what happened,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but I think as Eastan and I grew older, we
- 22:56Speaker 1: were almost a bad influence on you and Dad.
- 22:58Speaker 5: I agree. I feel like you guys.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I really feel that way too.
- 23:03Speaker 3: You guys are funny. You know. I think we get desensitized,
- 23:07Speaker 3: like Erica Jane says, to see you next Tuesday, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 3: in her little slang. Yeah, And I think you just
- 23:14Speaker 3: get desensitized by words after their use some often. And
- 23:18Speaker 3: we have Housewives playing twenty four to seven.
- 23:20Speaker 1: So you blamed it on house do you use it?
- 23:25Speaker 1: I've never heard that excuse blame that. I've never heard the.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Housewives saying the desensitizing of the word.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I love it. You know what, shift blame wherever you
- 23:35Speaker 1: can be right. Housewives made my family and I love
- 23:44Speaker 1: to sit and reminisce about really funny moments that happened,
- 23:48Speaker 1: like back in the day, whether it's the first time
- 23:51Speaker 1: I lied or the mask. Do you remember the mask, mom,
- 23:56Speaker 1: Dad's old grandpa mask.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Yes, we need to hear about this, Yes, we need
- 24:04Speaker 2: to hear about that.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You heard this, no, I have? Oh my god, it
- 24:08Speaker 1: was so scary. I cannot even tell us. I don't
- 24:11Speaker 1: know what it was back in that day. I don't
- 24:13Speaker 1: know if this is normal. Maybe it was just in Utah.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But like I remember being very young in babysity Easton.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah, well no, that was a twelve years old was
- 24:22Speaker 2: the age of the babysitters.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Okay, so I was around and.
- 24:25Speaker 3: That's legal, is it?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Jill, I don't think I would ever never in
- 24:31Speaker 1: my wife, here's the ownership.
- 24:36Speaker 3: The babysitting. I wouldn't do an infant.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yeah, oh like if a twelve year old's babysitting like
- 24:41Speaker 2: a seven or whatever.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Okay, So I'm babysitting Easton and I was a kick
- 24:50Speaker 1: ass babysitter, all right. Yeah, I fed him dinner. It
- 24:52Speaker 1: was time to get into bath, and he's in the
- 24:56Speaker 1: bath bubble bath. Might I add I in the primary bedroom.
- 25:01Speaker 1: In the primary bedroom our house growing up, it was
- 25:04Speaker 1: a it was big. It was like a very beautiful home.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Beautiful home. Yes, thank you to my parents. But I
- 25:12Speaker 1: hear someone downstairs, what did you do? Mom?
- 25:18Speaker 3: I was I tried to sound like a man, like
- 25:25Speaker 3: I can't do it, and you were gone.
- 25:26Speaker 2: You were supposed to be gone an come home.
- 25:30Speaker 1: But I didn't know.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I was shut to the primary bedroom and.
- 25:33Speaker 1: The door was not shut. The door was not shut. No,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you I'm the only person who
- 25:39Speaker 1: remembers in this family. The door is open. Okay, okay.
- 25:44Speaker 3: And I hear.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Your mom home, and I creep to the fucking primary
- 25:53Speaker 1: bedroom door. She does it again. I close it so quietly.
- 25:59Speaker 3: But see that I had saying that yet I hadn't
- 26:02Speaker 3: seen the door, because when I came upon the door, you're.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Coming from the garage. You were stepping into the great
- 26:07Speaker 1: room to go up the stairs. All right, Trust me,
- 26:08Speaker 1: I remember, because I thought you were ready to murder me.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I knew your whereabouts, bitch, because that was calling. I
- 26:14Speaker 1: want one. I locked the door, I grabbed the phone.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I get Easton out of the bath. I put us
- 26:22Speaker 1: both into the closet, close the door. I called nine
- 26:25Speaker 1: one one. I say, I'm babysitting my little brother, and
- 26:29Speaker 1: there's someone in the house. There's someone in my house,
- 26:32Speaker 1: and they like asked me all of the questions. And
- 26:34Speaker 1: then I'm hearing the banging on the door. I said,
- 26:35Speaker 1: they're banging on the door, and I hear my mom
- 26:38Speaker 1: go Lauren it's your mom. I opened the door and
- 26:43Speaker 1: she has the mask on.
- 26:46Speaker 5: You didn't even care.
- 26:49Speaker 1: She was planning on using that voice and then walking
- 26:52Speaker 1: up the stairs for me to see. And it was terrifying.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It was an old man's mask with white hair. Yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 1: like like white gray hair. Why my dad worrid every Halloween?
- 27:03Speaker 3: I would. He loved to scare the dogs with it.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Hold on, So were the cops on the phone when
- 27:09Speaker 2: Lisa was like, it's just me.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Did you have to do I have to come legally?
- 27:15Speaker 3: No, they don't know.
- 27:16Speaker 1: They didn't. We need to talk to your mom.
- 27:17Speaker 3: That They said, we need to talk to your mom,
- 27:19Speaker 3: and I'm so sorry.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Also they would yeah, we got it, they would send
- 27:27Speaker 2: the police. But this is incredible. Like, you're twelve years old,
- 27:31Speaker 2: you grab Eastern out of the bath?
- 27:33Speaker 3: I would.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I would have probably jumped out of the window, left
- 27:36Speaker 2: Easton in the bath.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I was exposed to kids and.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Laura la La is an old soul.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Call me Lauren, mom. It's so weird when you call me,
- 27:49Speaker 1: isn't the old.
- 27:50Speaker 2: No, that's incredible at twelve, Like literally, just a couple
- 27:53Speaker 2: of years ago, I told you about the fact that
- 27:55Speaker 2: when Kyle and I were camping and there's a guy
- 27:57Speaker 2: who showed up at the door at two am. He
- 28:00Speaker 2: was holding something in his hand, which we ended up
- 28:02Speaker 2: finding out was a hatchet. He was completely fucked up,
- 28:05Speaker 2: but he showed up at the door two a m.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Kyle jumps into action. I run into the closet, lock
- 28:13Speaker 2: my leaving everyone mind you, his mom and the kids downstairs.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I don't tell anyone. I'm just like me. For me,
- 28:21Speaker 2: I hide in the closet, put clothes over me. I
- 28:24Speaker 2: was like, I was so shocked at myself, and I
- 28:27Speaker 2: was like, I can't believe that's the way I act.
- 28:29Speaker 1: But you're the survivor who comes out and everyone's murdered. Yeah,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm the flight. You're a fighter? Would rather be murdered?
- 28:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you're a fighter? What are you?
- 28:39Speaker 1: Are you if the world goes to hell?
- 28:41Speaker 5: I did one?
- 28:42Speaker 1: Are you?
- 28:43Speaker 3: I'm a fighter? I think I.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Know that for a fact.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Everyone you're a fighter? Lot Easton, Are you are you flight?
- 28:51Speaker 2: If something goes down? No, you're a fighter because the
- 28:55Speaker 2: person who crashed the window down the street here in
- 28:57Speaker 2: LA and you went out.
- 28:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. Sometimes when shit happens, I go blank,
- 29:03Speaker 5: like a blackout.
- 29:04Speaker 1: You did.
- 29:04Speaker 5: I usually tried to go into a protective mode.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Okay, that's fight, then let's talk about that. Because I
- 29:10Speaker 1: was freaked out. I told Easton. I tell both my
- 29:13Speaker 1: mom and Easton, like, we ain't in Kansas anymore, Like
- 29:17Speaker 1: you have to be careful. We're in a big city
- 29:19Speaker 1: and it's just it's just different. Doesn't matter where you are. Though. Again,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I want to a lot of twenty twenty and it
- 29:25Speaker 1: all happens with a small town. But I just want
- 29:28Speaker 1: them to be safe. And it was dark, and Easton
- 29:30Speaker 1: wanted to go somewhere down the street, I think the
- 29:33Speaker 1: weed shop or something.
- 29:33Speaker 5: I went to elevated and I stepped out, and when
- 29:36Speaker 5: I stepped out, I was going through my baggy get
- 29:39Speaker 5: my trinkets out, and I just hear a shatter and
- 29:43Speaker 5: from down the road, the dude is like, I mean,
- 29:46Speaker 5: I can't really see. I just heard the shatter, and
- 29:48Speaker 5: then people were just he was just standing there but
- 29:50Speaker 5: like inside so obviously stoll shit.
- 29:52Speaker 3: And then he shattered a store window.
- 29:54Speaker 5: Store window and shit out of it. And I was
- 29:57Speaker 5: far but then he started running at me, like towards
- 30:01Speaker 5: me to get away, and there was like another block
- 30:04Speaker 5: like an intersection like an alley, No, an intersection, okay,
- 30:07Speaker 5: And so he was booking it at me, and then
- 30:10Speaker 5: I started to run at him because people were running
- 30:13Speaker 5: with him, so I was like, all right to chase him.
- 30:16Speaker 5: So like we were squeezing.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Him, hold on talking to the mikeys.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Sorry, So we were squeezing him, and he just went
- 30:22Speaker 5: that way. But that's when it clicked into my mind
- 30:25Speaker 5: of you have to be safe, you have to be right. Yes,
- 30:28Speaker 5: so I stopped, but I also lost my flip floor
- 30:31Speaker 5: said that was one of this, like after I lost
- 30:34Speaker 5: my flip flop, you brought yeah, And I was like, okay,
- 30:37Speaker 5: maybe I don't snapped you back, like we were talking
- 30:40Speaker 5: about it. If I would have turned that corner to
- 30:42Speaker 5: try to get him, who knows if he has a
- 30:45Speaker 5: gun to one shot me and then keep going or
- 30:49Speaker 5: a knife and then.
- 30:50Speaker 3: I and what are you going to do when you
- 30:51Speaker 3: catch it?
- 30:52Speaker 5: Nothing? And then it's you know, at that point, I
- 30:54Speaker 5: just hope that they have insurance to the store, ye
- 30:57Speaker 5: back whatever. But hopefully me running at him and the
- 31:01Speaker 5: other people he's won't maybe do it next time, or
- 31:05Speaker 5: at least not at nine.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fight though, that's clear fight, and I just
- 31:12Speaker 2: hope that one day because I was a really disappointed.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I hope that one day when I'm a mom. I
- 31:17Speaker 2: don't think I'll still be that way. No, right, like, no, no, no, no.
- 31:21Speaker 1: No, no no.
- 31:22Speaker 2: I'm not just gonna leave my kid at the park
- 31:24Speaker 2: if I get scared.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Never just and that's not even something you should worry about.
- 31:28Speaker 1: It just the second you get pregnant, you are different
- 31:30Speaker 1: from that moment.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Okay, good, I better be because I'm a little weak
- 31:33Speaker 2: bitch right now.
- 31:34Speaker 1: No, you turn into an assassinator.
- 31:37Speaker 5: And I want to ask, just from a guy's standpoint,
- 31:40Speaker 5: when you become the mama, do your instincts just for
- 31:43Speaker 5: the child or does it kind of go for everyone?
- 31:46Speaker 5: Now you're like instinctual for like protecting your child as well,
- 31:50Speaker 5: or are you now aware of more other.
- 31:54Speaker 1: You're aware of anything that you believe is good and innocent.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I always say the moment I got pregnant, it was
- 32:00Speaker 1: like I immediately saw the beauty in the world, but
- 32:05Speaker 1: I saw the ugliness as well, and you do anything
- 32:07Speaker 1: to protect your little one from all of that. Wow,
- 32:11Speaker 1: what a great podcast. How you fucking holidays everyone? Right?
- 32:14Speaker 2: You know this is great though, No, that's like something
- 32:17Speaker 2: that so maybe I'll be a different person when that.
- 32:20Speaker 1: You know, it is true when they say like, holidays
- 32:23Speaker 1: are so fun until you get older, and then it's
- 32:25Speaker 1: like the kids are having a great time waiting for Santa,
- 32:27Speaker 1: I'm worried about getting robbed. Immediately where my mind goes
- 32:33Speaker 1: it's the holidays. Stay inside, you know.
- 32:38Speaker 3: That's like, yeah, true?
- 32:39Speaker 1: Is it true? Yeah?
- 32:41Speaker 5: Every time I leave the house now, Lisa's you need
- 32:45Speaker 5: to be safe, you do or I mean, I can't
- 32:47Speaker 5: even go out thirty years old. I'm like, hey, I'm
- 32:49Speaker 5: gonna go down the street, and you need to be careful.
- 32:54Speaker 5: There are robberies everywhere.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Well, when you are stabbing at seven eleven in the
- 32:59Speaker 3: middle of the you gotta be careful.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Yep, No, that's true. People are getting ransacked left and right.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Everybody comes to Hollywood.
- 33:08Speaker 2: They't want to make it in the neighbor.
- 33:12Speaker 3: And I am Mama Bear. I be Mama Bear. So
- 33:15Speaker 3: that's why I tell you guys to that.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That being said, are you because of
- 33:22Speaker 2: the way la Is and I feel like it's been
- 33:24Speaker 2: sort of kind of crazy, or at least I've heard
- 33:27Speaker 2: since the pandemic. It's really gotten crazy with people, just
- 33:30Speaker 2: like with attacks and stuff like that. So area wise,
- 33:34Speaker 2: do you think you'll stay here and live in LA forever?
- 33:37Speaker 2: Do you want to maybe move outside of LA? Like,
- 33:40Speaker 2: what are you thinking?
- 33:41Speaker 1: I'm letting the universe guide me. Okay, okay, we love
- 33:44Speaker 1: a university with my future holds. Yeah, but let's just
- 33:47Speaker 1: say I'm in the same situation. I am now where
- 33:49Speaker 1: my job is here then, and I'm staying in LA,
- 33:54Speaker 1: then I'll move to the outskirts. I really crave a
- 33:56Speaker 1: parking lot.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. I was just thinking, I just want
- 33:59Speaker 3: lots of green grass and parking lots so I don't
- 34:02Speaker 3: have to take a ticket and pay when I come.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Out right to go to the grocery store.
- 34:06Speaker 5: It is like just putting the grocery card in a
- 34:10Speaker 5: fucking elevator to go down to your car.
- 34:12Speaker 2: You guys hate that because some people love it. I
- 34:15Speaker 2: was like, is he crazy?
- 34:16Speaker 3: No, I'm outside parking lots uh without paying? You like
- 34:22Speaker 3: green grass and trees.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Well, LA is so crazy because no matter what you
- 34:26Speaker 1: want to do, they ask you to pay. It's like,
- 34:28Speaker 1: do you plan on breathing today? That'll be a quarter
- 34:30Speaker 1: an hour, like they charge you for everything.
- 34:35Speaker 2: So true, so true. And the one thing about apartment
- 34:39Speaker 2: living that I do love is when I'm home alone
- 34:41Speaker 2: if Kyle's out of town, I feel safer because I
- 34:44Speaker 2: lived in a house when I first moved here, and
- 34:46Speaker 2: when I was home alone, I was like, oh shit,
- 34:49Speaker 2: there's windows people can break in when you're in an apartment.
- 34:52Speaker 2: I feel when I'm home alone, I just felt feel safer.
- 34:55Speaker 3: You know what. I where we live, I feel very secure.
- 34:58Speaker 1: And yeah, yeah, yeah, oh I And if I move
- 35:01Speaker 1: into a house, not if when I move into a house,
- 35:03Speaker 1: because you have to remember, we moved into an apartment
- 35:05Speaker 1: because it was like overnight, we got to go somewhere, right.
- 35:08Speaker 1: So now it's like time to buy a home. I mean,
- 35:12Speaker 1: I think I'll make sure it's either a gated community
- 35:15Speaker 1: or a gated home, and I most likely will be
- 35:19Speaker 1: investing in like twenty four hour security because I just
- 35:21Speaker 1: don't trust people right now.
- 35:23Speaker 2: No, you can't. And even like when I used to
- 35:25Speaker 2: live in Los Feliz, people who've visited, no, like Los
- 35:28Speaker 2: Felis Boulevard off of that lives a lot of like
- 35:32Speaker 2: actors and writers and this and that, and I listened
- 35:34Speaker 2: to a podcast of someone who lives in a gated
- 35:37Speaker 2: community off of Los Feela's Boulevard and his house has
- 35:40Speaker 2: gotten broken into. He's a successful actor producer, Like seven times,
- 35:45Speaker 2: I think in the past.
- 35:45Speaker 5: I think I'd be looking for new homes.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Oh no, no, no, I'll tell you what they need to get.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Everybody tell us needs to have a dog. And guess what.
- 35:54Speaker 3: The shelters are overcrowded. So what better way, yep, to
- 35:58Speaker 3: keep safe, keep your valuable safe in your home and
- 36:01Speaker 3: love a dog.
- 36:02Speaker 2: You turned me onto the Riverside Animal Shelter Lease, which
- 36:05Speaker 2: is if anyone's looking for a dog, Riverside posts the
- 36:08Speaker 2: ones who are about to get euthanized, Yes, like right before.
- 36:12Speaker 2: So it's always a good because they overfill and then
- 36:14Speaker 2: like all these cute they don't euthanize the dogs because
- 36:17Speaker 2: they're aggressive and unable to adopt. They literally euthanize them
- 36:21Speaker 2: for space.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they're a Riverside Animal shelter, the.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Shelter, so they have to pull for space. It's heart wrenching.
- 36:28Speaker 3: That's why people should go adopt the animal this holiday.
- 36:32Speaker 3: That's what every family should do.
- 36:34Speaker 1: A dog you can take care of a dog.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's very yeah, because have you ever half.
- 36:40Speaker 3: The people don't pick up after their animals, and that's
- 36:43Speaker 3: super important. And you've got to think about the cost
- 36:45Speaker 3: of an animal and the care for the dog. And yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 3: but we have four animals.
- 36:52Speaker 1: So you know we when you worked at the five which.
- 36:57Speaker 3: With the cat, we have five. We have four dogs
- 36:58Speaker 3: and a cat.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I was judged with cats. You dead.
- 37:01Speaker 3: But you have to want to cat.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I want to catch so bad.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I want to catch so bad.
- 37:09Speaker 2: My deal with Kyle is if I'm able to put
- 37:12Speaker 2: like afford, he goes. If you're able to buy us
- 37:15Speaker 2: a house outright, feel free, we can adopt a cat.
- 37:18Speaker 2: But until then, so which I.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Will be one, keeps our house free, mice free.
- 37:24Speaker 1: By the way, after the best, my mom saved this
- 37:29Speaker 1: cat from dying. I kid you not tell us she
- 37:32Speaker 1: had lost all of her kittens. She was so depressed.
- 37:36Speaker 1: She wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink anything, wouldn't clean herself. She
- 37:39Speaker 1: was like greasy, greasy.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Where did you find her out of the shelter?
- 37:44Speaker 3: I was volunteering where'd the kittens go? She lost her litter,
- 37:49Speaker 3: so she was.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Very depressed, and I kid you not For weeks on end,
- 37:54Speaker 1: my parents would go out and because she wanted to
- 37:57Speaker 1: be isolated and we had dogs, you know, so they
- 38:00Speaker 1: made her like a really safe little area where she
- 38:02Speaker 1: could be by herself and mourn properly. They would go
- 38:06Speaker 1: out and feed her with a syringe. And I that
- 38:09Speaker 1: cai so fat. Now it has the tiniest little gro.
- 38:15Speaker 2: What's her name, it's your her name's kid kitty.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Like Lauren named her.
- 38:21Speaker 1: That's cute.
- 38:23Speaker 3: We were fostering this cat, like we I had no
- 38:26Speaker 3: intentions of keeping this.
- 38:27Speaker 5: I remember you and Dad went on a vacation and
- 38:30Speaker 5: we all went to Hawaii.
- 38:31Speaker 1: That was it, and we took the cat back, yes,
- 38:34Speaker 1: just to stay for it while we were gone.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Well, I thought it was going to be like for
- 38:37Speaker 5: sure to get adopted. And then we came home and
- 38:40Speaker 5: she was starving herself again and the only people she
- 38:42Speaker 5: would eat with was you and Dad.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Out.
- 38:45Speaker 3: When I came into the room where she was, she
- 38:47Speaker 3: me out at me. When I said kitty, she me out.
- 38:50Speaker 3: And then I took her home because she had lost
- 38:52Speaker 3: all her way that she put on, so we fattened
- 38:54Speaker 3: her up again. And then because she's our baby, she is.
- 39:00Speaker 2: She still alive. Yea, And she gets along with the dog, hangs.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Out with the dogs.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Two giant pitbulls, all right, the sexiest little things you've
- 39:11Speaker 1: ever seen. Pablo and Bernice. My mom hated that name.
- 39:16Speaker 3: And we adopted those from a shelter as well. Yes, yes,
- 39:18Speaker 3: of course they were transferred from La to Utah because
- 39:23Speaker 3: they were going to be euthanized, so they were brought
- 39:25Speaker 3: to that shelter.
- 39:26Speaker 1: We only adopt. Now, we did go through a period
- 39:28Speaker 1: of time where we were uneducated, and we went to
- 39:31Speaker 1: these like bougie little uh storefronts where you pick out
- 39:34Speaker 1: your puppy that came from our breeder for thousands for
- 39:37Speaker 1: dollars of dollars. And the only one we have now
- 39:40Speaker 1: is Bella, who's from a place like that. But all
- 39:42Speaker 1: the rest of our animals and the ones that will
- 39:44Speaker 1: continue to get fifteen years old, yeah, she's old.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Ye Let me let me ask a question, Lisa, because you, obviously,
- 39:53Speaker 2: for people who don't know, have worked in a humane society,
- 39:56Speaker 2: in the Utah Humane Society for years. I when I
- 40:00Speaker 2: was in Nashville and I used to volunteer at a
- 40:03Speaker 2: humane society. They used to say there was something they
- 40:06Speaker 2: would call Christmas adoptions And it was really sad because
- 40:10Speaker 2: it was when people would flock into the shelters and
- 40:13Speaker 2: adopt dogs and cats and dogs and cats for their
- 40:15Speaker 2: kids as Christmas gifts, not thinking of like, oh, this
- 40:19Speaker 2: is going to be cute on Christmas morning, but this
- 40:21Speaker 2: is a being we actually have to care for. And
- 40:24Speaker 2: then a few weeks later, all these dogs and cats
- 40:27Speaker 2: would get brought back to the shelter because the kids
- 40:30Speaker 2: either didn't want to take care of it or it
- 40:32Speaker 2: was like such a cute Christmas present, and then like
- 40:34Speaker 2: two weeks later, the kid was uninterested and the family
- 40:37Speaker 2: was like well and they would bring it back. Is
- 40:39Speaker 2: that something that happens, because.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Don't do that.
- 40:41Speaker 3: If that's the case, right right, Well, you have to
- 40:44Speaker 3: realize that pets are a lifelong commitment. I mean, maybe
- 40:47Speaker 3: you know small dogs can live twenty plus years. You
- 40:50Speaker 3: know they could. I'm sixty two, So am I going
- 40:53Speaker 3: to go get a puppy tomorrow, a small puppy tomorrow
- 40:56Speaker 3: and that lives twenty years? No, I'm going to adopt
- 40:58Speaker 3: a senior because I'm a senior. So people, I think
- 41:01Speaker 3: have to realize the commitment and not only what the
- 41:04Speaker 3: commitment is, but there's money involved, you know that if
- 41:08Speaker 3: they get sick, there's food, there's all that's expensive.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Absolutely, especially if it does clipping. Yeah, as Lily gets older,
- 41:17Speaker 1: I mean every time I go in, it's between six
- 41:20Speaker 1: hundred dollars and two thousand dollars just to keep her
- 41:23Speaker 1: healthy and where she needs to be to live a
- 41:24Speaker 1: long life. Yeah, so it is a huge commitment.
- 41:27Speaker 5: But what I did, yeah mentally, well, I was just
- 41:29Speaker 5: going to say, mentally, it's not even about the money,
- 41:31Speaker 5: it's just having that companion.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, well, no care about for me. I
- 41:35Speaker 1: know it's a lot of money, but I would cut
- 41:37Speaker 1: back in areas because Lily's my ride or die. She's
- 41:40Speaker 1: been with me since I was twenty one years old,
- 41:42Speaker 1: through my drinking, through the loss of my dad. Like
- 41:45Speaker 1: she's the one that I would wake up for, you know.
- 41:48Speaker 1: So like that's my ride or died bitch. And when
- 41:50Speaker 1: I brought Ocean home, she looked at me like what
- 41:53Speaker 1: have you done?
- 41:54Speaker 3: But what does she do now?
- 41:56Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Now she is the first person. First person.
- 42:01Speaker 1: She is the first being at Ocean's door wanting to
- 42:06Speaker 1: be in Ocean's room. And when Ocean's not at the house.
- 42:09Speaker 1: She's I catch your sleeping in Ocean's rooms.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Stop she hears her in the morning, Like when Lily
- 42:18Speaker 3: hears the baby in the morning, she is so excited,
- 42:21Speaker 3: like she's wagging her tail way to run into her room.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Yeah, they're little besties. And I think it's also important
- 42:28Speaker 1: the breed of the dog, Like if you have young kids.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Ocean or Lily is a Lab Collie mixed. She's like
- 42:36Speaker 1: a mutt of four things, Labrador, Australian Shepherd Collie, and
- 42:41Speaker 1: lab gold Golden Retriever. And she is fantastic with young kids.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I mean Ocean, you know, because she's still trying to
- 42:51Speaker 1: figure it out. She sees me kind of patting her
- 42:53Speaker 1: and she thinks that that's a hit. So I teach
- 42:56Speaker 1: her to be gentle. But Lily just sits there and
- 42:58Speaker 1: gets pulled on. And there are times where she growls
- 42:59Speaker 1: a little bit, and I have to tell Ocean like
- 43:01Speaker 1: she doesn't like it. Do you hear the noise she's making,
- 43:03Speaker 1: So give her some space.
- 43:04Speaker 3: And it's really good when a dog growls because they're
- 43:07Speaker 3: given a warning. You want your dog to growl because
- 43:09Speaker 3: you want him to something sting exactly. They're setting up
- 43:13Speaker 3: their boundaries. So it's super important that you let your.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Dog growl, right instead of saying they tell him.
- 43:18Speaker 3: To stop growling, It's like, no, that's his warning that
- 43:21Speaker 3: he's not happy with something, So let him be his voice.
- 43:23Speaker 1: He's letting or she's letting. You know, I don't like
- 43:26Speaker 1: this and if it continues, I'm about to bite. Yeah, baby.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Animals are the best, like you're so sick.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah, They're part of the family, not accessories. So people
- 43:36Speaker 2: who are like, oh, well, get a cute puppy for
- 43:38Speaker 2: Christmas and then isn't aren't ready to take care of it.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Don't do it.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Don't do it, or it's gonna throw it outside and
- 43:46Speaker 2: keep it on, you know, because I've seen that too.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're gonna have outdoor animals, please don't get
- 43:52Speaker 1: an animal.
- 43:52Speaker 3: No, you need to be indoor. Indoor cats need to
- 43:55Speaker 3: be indoors because oh yeah, in fact, we are traumatized.
- 44:00Speaker 1: We talk about this before we wrap this. So my mom,
- 44:05Speaker 1: after my dad passed away, the house that they were
- 44:06Speaker 1: in that I grew up in, was just it was
- 44:08Speaker 1: too big. But all the animals knew that house. And
- 44:11Speaker 1: now you take it from.
- 44:12Speaker 3: There, so we had the movers come and we transported
- 44:17Speaker 3: all the dogs, you know, over to the new house,
- 44:19Speaker 3: and somehow our cat got out because people were coming
- 44:22Speaker 3: and going and she was scared. I literally went back
- 44:25Speaker 3: for a week to the house because we had moved,
- 44:28Speaker 3: and would call her every night. Eastern would go and
- 44:31Speaker 3: call her every night. I mean, I was sobbing because
- 44:33Speaker 3: this is my baby, and she thought I had abandoned her.
- 44:37Speaker 5: I'm getting We went over there for like like an
- 44:40Speaker 5: hour and a half a night and just watched like
- 44:42Speaker 5: the phone and just sat there and just called her
- 44:44Speaker 5: name with like a bowl of food.
- 44:45Speaker 2: So you thought she would oh, she got out. Not
- 44:49Speaker 2: at the new house.
- 44:49Speaker 1: She got out the old house and they had moved
- 44:52Speaker 1: out already.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Thinking I've abandoned her, and so I put you know,
- 44:55Speaker 3: she's from a shelter, So I put food and I
- 44:57Speaker 3: put her bed on the porch because the new people
- 44:58Speaker 3: hadn't moved in yet. And I went back and finally
- 45:02Speaker 3: the last night I took dere my little chihuahua. At
- 45:05Speaker 3: the time, God rest her soul. She's passed away. But anyway,
- 45:09Speaker 3: I put door down and I called her and she
- 45:12Speaker 3: ran out of the bushes to door and were you?
- 45:18Speaker 1: She cried?
- 45:18Speaker 5: She called me crying saying I got the cat.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I want to cry.
- 45:26Speaker 5: So much. I know, in all honesty, I never really
- 45:32Speaker 5: I don't love cats.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I know what they do.
- 45:35Speaker 5: But when I see how much Lisa loves the like
- 45:39Speaker 5: the cat, like when she's not there, I look at
- 45:41Speaker 5: the cat, and I'm like, I'm going to give you
- 45:43Speaker 5: love just because I know Lisa would be doing it
- 45:45Speaker 5: right now.
- 45:46Speaker 3: No, I love my animals. There's something better.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, So that we take her back. They take her
- 45:53Speaker 1: back to the new Yeah.
- 45:56Speaker 3: She gets out those out into the backyard because you
- 45:59Speaker 3: know it's a new territory, explore. Yeah, and it's all
- 46:01Speaker 3: fenced in with high fence and.
- 46:04Speaker 5: One corner to climb up and get out.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Yet she comes back the next day without her collar,
- 46:12Speaker 3: and I'm like a little rough dog. She's like, act
- 46:15Speaker 3: a little traumatized that she does not want to be
- 46:17Speaker 3: outside ever.
- 46:18Speaker 1: No never.
- 46:19Speaker 3: My neighbor calls and says, do you have a cat
- 46:22Speaker 3: named kid Kitty? And I'm like, yes, that's her collar
- 46:25Speaker 3: and he goes, I found it hanging in my tree.
- 46:29Speaker 3: It was a breakaway collar because obviously you don't put
- 46:31Speaker 3: fixed collars because.
- 46:32Speaker 1: They can cat Yeah, yeah, correct, yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 3: So she had a breakaway collar thing, thank god she did.
- 46:40Speaker 6: So.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Anyway, so something happened and she has no desire to
- 46:44Speaker 3: look at.
- 46:46Speaker 5: She literally will go out, like if the dogs are out,
- 46:48Speaker 5: she'll go out because there's and lay with them and
- 46:50Speaker 5: she'll lay like in the sun. When that last dog
- 46:54Speaker 5: runs in, done, she looks around and she books it in.
- 46:57Speaker 2: She got her ass kicked by a street cat.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Probably what happened, shelter bitch, and she was trauma time.
- 47:04Speaker 1: You know, they don't play in those shelters.
- 47:06Speaker 3: But you shouldn't even leave your cats out, and especially
- 47:08Speaker 3: in California you've got coyotes and wolves, your little dogs,
- 47:11Speaker 3: your cat.
- 47:12Speaker 2: No, you should be in. Exactly, there was a cat.
- 47:14Speaker 2: This is a sad but a cat head just ahead. They
- 47:17Speaker 2: are in a block away from our house that we
- 47:21Speaker 2: were walking and just ahead and because those coyotes will
- 47:24Speaker 2: will eat.
- 47:25Speaker 3: The whole cat.
- 47:26Speaker 2: So it was just ahead, just a little.
- 47:29Speaker 3: It was I have to tell you one more story
- 47:31Speaker 3: and then I'm I'm and then I'm done. We went
- 47:33Speaker 3: camping Jack.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Animal podcast turned it always died loud, Okay, tell this
- 47:44Speaker 1: story anyway.
- 47:44Speaker 3: So we went camping. We had to pop up trailer
- 47:47Speaker 3: trailer and do you or my little chihuahua?
- 47:50Speaker 1: Where were we? Yellowstone?
- 47:51Speaker 3: Ye, Jackson Jackson Hole And it was in a you know,
- 47:55Speaker 3: camping area. And all of a sudden, like it's the
- 47:59Speaker 3: middle of the night, am my little door wants to
- 48:01Speaker 3: go out and go potty. Okay, So I take a
- 48:02Speaker 3: flashlight because it's pitch black, and I don't have her
- 48:07Speaker 3: on a leash because we're just in this little camping
- 48:09Speaker 3: area will lo and behold, she's out there potting. And
- 48:13Speaker 3: all of a sudden, I see this movement on the
- 48:15Speaker 3: side of my eye. I look over. There is a
- 48:18Speaker 3: wolf or a.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Coyote stock which was it different?
- 48:21Speaker 3: I think there was. It was a coyote.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Well, they are out west though they are huge coyote
- 48:28Speaker 2: coyotes are huge beyond okay.
- 48:32Speaker 3: So anyway, I flash my flashlight over to the coyotes's
- 48:36Speaker 3: stalking and it is stalking like it is in prey mode,
- 48:39Speaker 3: like I'm going to eat your dog. And my poor
- 48:42Speaker 3: little dog is doing her business with her back to
- 48:45Speaker 3: the coyote. I let out a like scream that could
- 48:49Speaker 3: be heard for a mile, and I charge the coyotes
- 48:54Speaker 3: giant with my light blinded, so he runs off. I
- 48:57Speaker 3: go scoop up my dog running the trailer. But I'm like,
- 49:00Speaker 3: I almost saw my dogs last day.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Oh and when they get in the prey mode, everything
- 49:05Speaker 2: else like, I'm shocked at run away because everything else
- 49:08Speaker 2: charged it.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I charged it with my flash. Yeah. It was one
- 49:11Speaker 3: of those big hexagon one of heavy duty.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you would have kicked its ass because full circle
- 49:17Speaker 2: fight or flight. She's a fighter. No, I would.
- 49:21Speaker 1: When she came into the trailer and whispered to me
- 49:24Speaker 1: what had happened, I was like, the dog stays inside
- 49:27Speaker 1: full circle, don't go outside. That's just the name of
