- 1:00Speaker 3: Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. I just drove in
- 1:06Speaker 3: from Coachella weekend and I'm here to tell you all
- 1:11Speaker 3: about it along with all the updates on all the
- 1:14Speaker 3: Juicy Scoop and crime and everything. And then I have
- 1:17Speaker 3: a great interview with Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan Rivers,
- 1:21Speaker 3: and we had a lot of fun. So here, let's
- 1:24Speaker 3: just go through. So, um, yes, we stayed at some
- 1:27Speaker 3: friend's Peter and I stayed at a friend's house. It
- 1:31Speaker 3: was a fabulous weekend. We did attend a couple of
- 1:35Speaker 3: the events, Coachella Saturday night, and went to this other party.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I'm going to take you through the photos. Here was
- 1:42Speaker 3: my first look. I wanted to show up cute on Saturday,
- 1:48Speaker 3: so we missed Friday altogether. Showed up on Saturday. It
- 1:51Speaker 3: was absolutely perfect weather. Not too hot. I like it
- 1:54Speaker 3: that way. I mean, some people probably thought it was
- 1:56Speaker 3: too hot.
- 1:56Speaker 2: For me, it wasn't.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I wore a florally top off the shoulder. Then, miraculously,
- 2:05Speaker 3: people happened to have some passes for us. So I'm like,
- 2:08Speaker 3: you know what? I do want to experience Coachella and
- 2:11Speaker 3: what everyone's been talking about. I had purchased a pair
- 2:15Speaker 3: of cowboy boots because everybody's wearing cowboy boots and I
- 2:18Speaker 3: wore it with this navy dress. And I thought that'll
- 2:20Speaker 3: be fun. It'll be easy to walk. I won't be
- 2:23Speaker 3: in a heel. I don't want to be like wearing
- 2:24Speaker 3: a wedge and falling over. Oh, my God. Cowboy boots
- 2:28Speaker 3: were not made for walking. They really weren't. These boots
- 2:31Speaker 3: were not made for walking. They were too uncomfortable. I
- 2:34Speaker 3: was dying, and I suggest people don't wear cowboy boots.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Wear tennis shoes. Honestly, wear tennis shoes. Wear the most
- 2:45Speaker 3: comfortable shoes possible. There is so much walking involved. Anyway,
- 2:49Speaker 3: I saw Megan Thee Stallion. And we were at the
- 2:53Speaker 3: VIP place, which was, like, pretty nice and, like, some
- 2:57Speaker 3: cute food and stuff. Approached by a handful of Juicy Scoopers.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Not a lot. And she was still miles away. Like,
- 3:07Speaker 3: you're just basically looking at the screen. So then I
- 3:10Speaker 3: hobbled away. We went back to the house. I switched
- 3:13Speaker 3: to a pair of tennis shoes. And I went to
- 3:15Speaker 3: this other party called Zendara, which was, like, this other
- 3:18Speaker 3: big place. And Sheen, that is.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Is it in there? Okay.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Oh, here I am golfing. Oh, then Peter and I
- 3:26Speaker 3: went to Zendara, which is this beautiful property that the
- 3:31Speaker 3: clothing store people, S-H-E-I-N, Sheen.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Sheen. Sheen.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's kind of like a Fashion Nova type of situation. Anyway,
- 3:40Speaker 3: they were doing the party, and I was like, wow,
- 3:44Speaker 3: I can't believe– But look, now I'm talking about it.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I'd never even heard of them before. They were the
- 3:50Speaker 3: people that I talked about the other day that had
- 3:52Speaker 3: the leopard bodysuit with only one leg out, full ass
- 3:57Speaker 3: cheek out, like just coming up, just one leg, one
- 4:02Speaker 3: ass out. That's the kind of clothes. Congrats. So then
- 4:10Speaker 3: the next day. They said, you want to go to
- 4:13Speaker 3: the Soho House. It has like a pop-up shop type
- 4:17Speaker 3: of a thing. Not pop-up, but it's like another big,
- 4:19Speaker 3: beautiful field with like lakes and stuff. And you just
- 4:22Speaker 3: go around and you get free drinks of Patron. You
- 4:24Speaker 3: get free steak. There was like a lobster situation happening.
- 4:32Speaker 3: So that was pretty fun. And I got pretty cute
- 4:34Speaker 3: for that. And I wore a wedge, but I brought
- 4:37Speaker 3: a pair of flip-flops. And I switched into my flip-flops. Also,
- 4:40Speaker 3: there was an ear wand event. place where you just
- 4:44Speaker 3: get a bag and you can just take all these
- 4:46Speaker 3: snacks for free. I felt like, I mean, it was
- 4:50Speaker 3: pretty exciting. And then I got the Billie Eilish tester
- 4:54Speaker 3: perfume that I brought back to Annie. That was her swag.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Thank you. So here I am with some of the
- 5:03Speaker 3: girls that were staying with us. They're all gorgeous girls.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So I fit right in. And here we are fake
- 5:09Speaker 3: laughing before we leave for Coachella, like, ha ha. That's
- 5:13Speaker 3: always easy to do. Then Peter got a cuter outfit
- 5:17Speaker 3: the second day. He went and bought some stuff from
- 5:19Speaker 3: the Madison Club, which is a place we were staying.
- 5:22Speaker 3: And then I found some other great outfits to take
- 5:25Speaker 3: photos of. Lots of just ripped fishnets, which is kind
- 5:30Speaker 3: of nice because The whole point of wearing nylons back
- 5:33Speaker 3: in the day, you'd get a run in them and
- 5:35Speaker 3: you'd have to throw them away. Well, not if you're
- 5:37Speaker 3: going to Coachella. It's all about ripped nylons, ripped fishnets, big, huge, platformy,
- 5:44Speaker 3: chunky things, lots of sparkles, lots of really weird things
- 5:50Speaker 3: that made no sense. All of a sudden, you just
- 5:52Speaker 3: have a sparkly bathing suit and then like leather like
- 5:56Speaker 3: this girl's wearing just like a leather fringe stuff just
- 5:59Speaker 3: hanging off it's just like literally if you just took
- 6:01Speaker 3: like like an S & M thing and like strap
- 6:05Speaker 3: that on you with like a bikini top and then
- 6:07Speaker 3: a couple like sparkles and then like big giant shoes
- 6:11Speaker 3: that that's what you'd be wearing okay uh these girls
- 6:16Speaker 3: now these girls were pretty cute like again this one
- 6:18Speaker 3: girl has um like this was a pretty cute these
- 6:21Speaker 3: girls were pretty fashionable And then, yeah, here we go.
- 6:26Speaker 3: This is, this was the girl I was staying with.
- 6:29Speaker 3: She's adorable. And her name is Katie. Okay, moving on. Oh,
- 6:34Speaker 3: here I am looking so cute in the pool. I just,
- 6:38Speaker 3: I just had to take this photo because I just
- 6:40Speaker 3: looked cute here. And, but, you know, all my clothes
- 6:44Speaker 3: were not, oh, here's a fun one. These guys were fun.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Then there was this one place that was kind of
- 6:50Speaker 3: shady at the Soho house that I think was like
- 6:53Speaker 3: extra VIP. And I kept walking by hoping that someone
- 6:57Speaker 3: in the shady area would be a juicy scooper and say, hey,
- 6:59Speaker 3: want to come in the shade? But they never did.
- 7:01Speaker 3: So after an hour and a half, we went back
- 7:03Speaker 3: to the mansion and just swam in the pool and
- 7:06Speaker 3: had fun while the rest of the people went out
- 7:08Speaker 3: to the last night at Coachella. And that's it. So,
- 7:12Speaker 3: you know, I did. There were people that I guess
- 7:14Speaker 3: you could stay in these tents. And I did. I
- 7:17Speaker 3: looked inside one of the tents. It was kind of like...
- 7:22Speaker 3: But I think I could see why people would do
- 7:25Speaker 3: it if you're a dude. If you're a dude, you
- 7:27Speaker 3: could definitely rent these tents and then you're right there
- 7:30Speaker 3: because getting Ubers and parking and all that stuff is
- 7:34Speaker 3: such a pain in the ass. So this way, you're
- 7:37Speaker 3: right there at the festival if you're super into it.
- 7:39Speaker 3: You just roll out of your tent and go party.
- 7:42Speaker 3: But if you're a girl... and you have to use
- 7:45Speaker 3: like a public shower or something, or try to get
- 7:47Speaker 3: cute in this tent with your, you know, strap on
- 7:51Speaker 3: dildo S and M outfits or whatever, that would be difficult.
- 7:54Speaker 3: That would be difficult. But like four guys going, I
- 7:57Speaker 3: would say, look into the, like the tents that are
- 7:59Speaker 3: like made for you, like a glamping situation. But the
- 8:04Speaker 3: best thing to do is to be like an influencer
- 8:07Speaker 3: or something and, or just have a friend that just
- 8:11Speaker 3: happens to have a past like me and go to
- 8:13Speaker 3: these parties that are not actually Coachella parties, just like
- 8:17Speaker 3: a beautiful thing where you walk around and eat food
- 8:19Speaker 3: for free and take some photos. Okay. Moving on to
- 8:23Speaker 3: the hot topics. Okay. The trial is still going on.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Johnny Depp did like four days of testimony. I've been
- 8:32Speaker 3: covering it. So, you know, from the past episodes where
- 8:36Speaker 3: we're at and basically now her attorneys are questioning him.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And they're bringing up his texts that he's written about
- 8:47Speaker 3: her that are pretty awful. They're not great words. He
- 8:51Speaker 3: uses the C-U-N-T word. He says gold digger. Then he
- 8:55Speaker 3: makes this reference to like, I'd like to see her
- 8:58Speaker 3: corpse rotting in the back of a Honda Civic or something.
- 9:02Speaker 3: And he said, no, that's actually a line in a
- 9:04Speaker 3: Monty Python movie or something. So he, too, just like
- 9:10Speaker 3: Blac Chyna and Tokyo Tony in the other big trial
- 9:14Speaker 3: I'm going to cover against the Kardashians, when their horrible
- 9:19Speaker 3: behavior comes up, they're like, I'm a fan of comedy.
- 9:22Speaker 3: It's my humor. I like to write that way. I'm
- 9:25Speaker 3: a comedian. So Johnny Depp also fancies himself a little
- 9:29Speaker 3: bit of a comedian. But the general consensus of everything
- 9:34Speaker 3: that I've read is that he is just gaining more
- 9:37Speaker 3: and more love and fandom. And like I said before,
- 9:42Speaker 3: whether he wins a dollar or nothing, I think he's
- 9:46Speaker 3: definitely going to get his career back to a point.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I don't know if the pirate movies will ever come back.
- 9:53Speaker 3: He was in movies that made over $ 10 billion, but
- 9:55Speaker 3: I definitely think people are going to want to see
- 9:58Speaker 3: him you know, in a series or on the big screen.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So like, if anything, this is just going to help.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And then it's like all these, all the people dressed
- 10:06Speaker 3: up as his characters are in there. And then a
- 10:09Speaker 3: bunch of women are like the entire court is just
- 10:12Speaker 3: like women who are in love with him. If they
- 10:14Speaker 3: show like the people in the bed and they're laughing
- 10:16Speaker 3: so hard and everything he says, cause he'd be like, um,
- 10:19Speaker 3: can I, Did I answer the question right? Could I
- 10:22Speaker 3: answer the question? And then the defense attorney would be like,
- 10:25Speaker 3: did I read that right? I guess you read that right.
- 10:30Speaker 3: And the audience is like, Johnny, you silly goose. Like
- 10:33Speaker 3: they're just loving it. She, everything that has come out
- 10:38Speaker 3: about her, whether it's, you know, alleged things from her
- 10:42Speaker 3: friends and people that are sharing stuff about it, she
- 10:48Speaker 3: just does not seem, like a great person, but then
- 10:51Speaker 3: there's so much great stuff about Johnny. Like people, I
- 10:54Speaker 3: waited on him once this, that he's the nicest person.
- 10:57Speaker 3: And apparently he was extremely generous to Amber's friends. Many
- 11:01Speaker 3: of them stayed at his like apartments that he, he
- 11:04Speaker 3: had this like big, um, penthouse apartment situation. That's where
- 11:09Speaker 3: you constantly would see, um, Amber with Elon Musk in
- 11:13Speaker 3: the surveillance in the elevator because they were allegedly having
- 11:17Speaker 3: an affair while she was married. Um, They were like
- 11:20Speaker 3: allegedly having threesomes, her and Elon and Kara that– Kara,
- 11:26Speaker 3: what's her name? She's a beautiful model from Victoria's Secret. Anyway,
- 11:30Speaker 3: we see them in this like penthouse thing that he owned.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And I guess he owned several units. And allegedly he'd
- 11:38Speaker 3: let many of her friends stay there. He'd always be
- 11:42Speaker 3: super generous. The wedding was mostly all of her friends staying. Um,
- 11:46Speaker 3: just things like that. Like he just was very, um,
- 11:50Speaker 3: generous to her. And then, and then they had this
- 11:53Speaker 3: toxic relationship and the, all the recordings, she was always
- 11:58Speaker 3: recording him and that has, I guess, worked in her
- 12:01Speaker 3: favor and then not worked in her favor. So that's
- 12:05Speaker 3: where we're at. And so eventually I assume she will
- 12:08Speaker 3: take the stand. So we've got still probably a couple
- 12:11Speaker 3: of weeks left. Um, But, you know, people were like, God,
- 12:15Speaker 3: he's so, like, long-winded, whatever. I guess the court, though,
- 12:19Speaker 3: they set aside six weeks for this trial. So I
- 12:21Speaker 3: guess they're ready to just milk it out and have
- 12:23Speaker 3: some fun with it. So, yeah, oh, here was a
- 12:28Speaker 3: text message. He sent about burning and drowning his former
- 12:31Speaker 3: partner were a joke based on the Monty Python sketch. Hilarious. Clearly,
- 12:38Speaker 3: he had a lot of anger towards her. And he
- 12:39Speaker 3: did say when he found out about the article and
- 12:43Speaker 3: he was going to sue her for defamation. In the article,
- 12:46Speaker 3: of course, she said that she was a victim of
- 12:48Speaker 3: domestic abuse. There's many text messages to friends and whatnot
- 12:53Speaker 3: where he was like, oh, I'm going to bury her.
- 12:55Speaker 3: She's going down. The world is going to know. She's
- 13:08Speaker 3: telling his truth. He's been dying to do this since
- 13:11Speaker 3: 2016 or even prior, probably even probably before they got divorced.
- 13:15Speaker 3: He probably wanted people to really know the torture he
- 13:17Speaker 3: was feeling. So now he's just like, I want everyone
- 13:20Speaker 3: to know what happened to me. And we definitely are. Um, he's, yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 3: he said all these texts, none of it was intended
- 13:29Speaker 3: to be real. Um, Depp went on to say of
- 13:34Speaker 3: the text that detailed drowning and killing her and having
- 13:36Speaker 3: sex with her dead body, among other notions. And the
- 13:39Speaker 3: language that's used, which I, yes, I'm ashamed that that
- 13:43Speaker 3: has to be spread in the world like peanut butter,
- 13:46Speaker 3: but obviously drafted language, you know, I like to use
- 13:50Speaker 3: the language, you know, I like to have fun with,
- 13:53Speaker 3: you know, it's just the way I write, it's the
- 13:55Speaker 3: way I text. Listen, people, I've said this, if you've
- 14:00Speaker 3: been a juicy scooper, which I hope you have been
- 14:03Speaker 3: for the last six years, pick up the fucking phone. Okay.
- 14:08Speaker 3: You're in a fight with someone. You're mad at someone.
- 14:10Speaker 3: You want to share some juicy scoop about someone, maybe
- 14:14Speaker 3: a mutual friend. Don't text that to your friend. Like,
- 14:18Speaker 3: you know, like let's say your friend is named Jenny
- 14:20Speaker 3: and you're like, Jenny, I'm so sick of Susie. Susie's
- 14:23Speaker 3: a fucking bitch. I can't believe she said all this.
- 14:25Speaker 3: You put it all in the text. You're going back,
- 14:28Speaker 3: you're going back and forth with Jenny. And then all
- 14:30Speaker 3: of a sudden you do a screen grab and you
- 14:32Speaker 3: accidentally send this shit to Susie. It's happened to me.
- 14:37Speaker 3: The point is you want to talk some shit about
- 14:39Speaker 3: somebody you want to, or confront someone you want to
- 14:43Speaker 3: like have a fight with someone. Pick up the phone
- 14:45Speaker 3: or meet in person because these text messages are, I mean,
- 14:51Speaker 3: we didn't really have, you know, 20 years ago, people
- 14:54Speaker 3: weren't texting. And I swear to God, I think it
- 14:56Speaker 3: was harder to nail people on their bad behavior. The texting,
- 14:59Speaker 3: the tweeting, the social media posts, everything is in writing.
- 15:02Speaker 3: It's like biblical times. People are literally write everything down,
- 15:06Speaker 3: but on, but worse because it's on a, you know,
- 15:10Speaker 3: on a whatever, on your phone or, I'm like you guys,
- 15:15Speaker 3: I'm a little hung, okay? I'm a little hungover from
- 15:16Speaker 3: the weekend. Definitely not, did not have enough sleep. The
- 15:20Speaker 3: point is, just think about it. Because I mean, I
- 15:25Speaker 3: don't think, people were saying, was it, oh, this girl
- 15:27Speaker 3: this weekend. She goes, do you think it was, she goes, oh,
- 15:31Speaker 3: the 90s.
- 15:32Speaker 2: What was that like?
- 15:33Speaker 3: You know, she's a little younger than I am. And
- 15:35Speaker 3: she's like, do you think life was better then, you know?
- 15:40Speaker 3: Like in the 90s, was it more fun? because you
- 15:43Speaker 3: didn't have like social media and stuff. And I'm like,
- 15:47Speaker 3: I don't know. I really did have a lot of
- 15:49Speaker 3: fucking fun with my friends and I would have loved
- 15:51Speaker 3: to have like video of it and funny, all the
- 15:55Speaker 3: photos from like when I was partying in college and everything.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I just really get to see it much more than
- 16:00Speaker 3: what I have of memories. But then for these type
- 16:03Speaker 3: of things, I'm glad that there's not, you know, text
- 16:07Speaker 3: messages that someone can pull up from, you know, 20
- 16:10Speaker 3: years ago where I was like, talking shit about some
- 16:14Speaker 3: sorority sister. Like I'm glad that's not there. So that's
- 16:16Speaker 3: the point. Okay. Moving on. Um, what did he say
- 16:20Speaker 3: about Marilyn Manson? That was bad. Okay. So that, I
- 16:26Speaker 3: guess I wasn't that bad. Okay. Marilyn Manson is not
- 16:29Speaker 3: someone that you want to like be photographed with or
- 16:31Speaker 3: say that he's your good friend because of course there's, um,
- 16:35Speaker 3: a lot of cases and it's a whole documentary about, um,
- 16:40Speaker 3: the torment that he put several of his girlfriends through,
- 16:44Speaker 3: sexual assault, all that kind of stuff. So he's not
- 16:47Speaker 3: a delight in my opinion. But Johnny's like, yeah, did
- 16:51Speaker 3: I do drugs with Marilyn Manson? Yeah. Who doesn't do
- 16:54Speaker 3: drugs with Marilyn Manson? And I gave him a pill
- 16:55Speaker 3: so he'd stop talking once.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Ha ha.
- 16:58Speaker 3: The girls in the audience. Johnny. So yeah, like he's
- 17:03Speaker 3: a partier. Oh, and some people say they like to
- 17:07Speaker 3: hear Annie's laugh. Some people think that you're laughing too
- 17:10Speaker 3: hard to help get me going. Listen, it's a genuine laugh.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I'm not putting a gun to her head and being like,
- 17:20Speaker 3: laugh a little harder today. She is just laughing. Let
- 17:23Speaker 3: her have some fun. Okay. Speaking of Elon Musk, of course,
- 17:27Speaker 3: he's involved in the Johnny Depp trial. I talked about
- 17:31Speaker 3: this when I did my Juicy Scoop stock market scoop.
- 17:36Speaker 3: He has secured Twitter. That's right. He was offered it
- 17:41Speaker 3: at $ 43 billion. They were saying they didn't want to
- 17:43Speaker 3: sell it. Well, the board met. They had long meetings
- 17:46Speaker 3: with him. They got him up to $ 44 billion. So
- 17:50Speaker 3: great negotiation, Twitter board. And he's going to own it.
- 17:54Speaker 3: So we'll see he would like to have an option
- 17:57Speaker 3: where you could write longer tweets. He'd like, um, the
- 18:00Speaker 3: algorithm not to be a secret. He'd like people to
- 18:02Speaker 3: know why they see certain things, why they don't. Hopefully
- 18:05Speaker 3: they'll have that edit button, which we've all been wanting
- 18:08Speaker 3: that just like you do on Instagram, where you can
- 18:10Speaker 3: post your thing and then go back and like, realize
- 18:13Speaker 3: that you did a mistake, a spelling mistake and go
- 18:15Speaker 3: correct it. Like the, your and your thing, you know,
- 18:19Speaker 3: you could, you could actually go correct that on Twitter,
- 18:21Speaker 3: which right now you can't. Um, So we'll see how
- 18:24Speaker 3: it changes. We'll see if there's really more freedom of speech,
- 18:27Speaker 3: if there isn't so much censorship. But he's excited for it,
- 18:31Speaker 3: so good for him. Let's see. Oh, Sherry Papini. As
- 18:39Speaker 3: you know, she has pled guilty. She said, you got me.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I made up this whole thing. I made up the
- 18:45Speaker 3: fact that I was kidnapped by these two Mexican women
- 18:48Speaker 3: and held captive for three weeks. Instead, I did hook
- 18:53Speaker 3: up with this old boyfriend. Now people were saying that
- 18:56Speaker 3: I said that she didn't sleep with him. Okay. He
- 18:59Speaker 3: said they never slept together. However, when they, when she
- 19:04Speaker 3: miraculously arrived three weeks later, the police did find male
- 19:09Speaker 3: DNA on her clothing or underwear. And that's where they
- 19:13Speaker 3: linked it back to this guy. And that's how they
- 19:18Speaker 3: found him. It was like a relative of his or whatever.
- 19:20Speaker 3: And they found the DNA and, And he then totally
- 19:23Speaker 3: cooperated that he picked her up, that he let her
- 19:27Speaker 3: stay in the room, that he went to the Hobby
- 19:29Speaker 3: Lobby and got the branding thing and burned her arm,
- 19:32Speaker 3: all of that, that she ate very little. But originally,
- 19:36Speaker 3: he said they didn't bone. So who knows? But the husband,
- 19:41Speaker 3: who's pretty cute, said, absolutely, I'm divorcing you. So he
- 19:45Speaker 3: has filed for divorce and sole custody of the children.
- 19:50Speaker 3: And his attorney said, you know, he just wants a
- 19:53Speaker 3: safe environment for his children. And, you know, obviously they
- 19:58Speaker 3: hope that they'll side with the husband. And she will
- 20:02Speaker 3: be sentenced in July. Wow. we don't know how much
- 20:07Speaker 3: time she'll get. If any, I think she'll get, okay,
- 20:11Speaker 3: this is another, I love doing predictions on the amount
- 20:14Speaker 3: of time people get. I think she's going to get, um,
- 20:19Speaker 3: at least six months, at least six months, definitely not
- 20:24Speaker 3: more than two years. I'd be shocked if she got
- 20:28Speaker 3: two years, but I think she'll get six months and
- 20:31Speaker 3: probably have to pay some fines or return some money.
- 20:34Speaker 3: So That's my prediction.
- 20:38Speaker 4: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 20:41Speaker 4: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 20:44Speaker 4: have faced tremendous setbacks, and yet somehow have found a
- 20:48Speaker 4: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 20:57Speaker 3: filed against me. When your free will was about to
- 20:59Speaker 3: be taken from you, what would you do if it
- 21:01Speaker 3: was given back?
- 21:02Speaker 4: Where did that need come from, where you thought that
- 21:05Speaker 4: you had.
- 21:06Speaker 2: To succeed in order to feel loved?
- 21:07Speaker 3: He said, I have a work dad.
- 21:09Speaker 4: I need a home dad.
- 21:10Speaker 3: What happens next? When I came in, he started crying.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 21:17Speaker 4: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 21:20Speaker 4: happens next.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all.
- 21:22Speaker 3: I realized how valuable every day was. You're worth the work. Listen, Dara,
- 21:26Speaker 3: I'm not going to pull punches. You can use your
- 21:28Speaker 3: voice even if it's shaped.
- 21:29Speaker 4: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 21:43Speaker 3: Also, Will Smith, he has gone to India. Paparazzi caught
- 21:48Speaker 3: him there. He is going to just do yoga and meditate,
- 21:53Speaker 3: and he's going to eat, pray, love it. Do you
- 21:56Speaker 3: remember that book, Eat, Pray, Love? That's where this woman
- 22:00Speaker 3: breaks up with her boyfriend. significant other this boyfriend I
- 22:05Speaker 3: think it was her boyfriend she might have been getting
- 22:06Speaker 3: divorced I don't know but she broke up with him
- 22:08Speaker 3: Julie Robert played the part she goes to Italy she
- 22:10Speaker 3: eats a bunch of pasta then she goes to India
- 22:14Speaker 3: and is all into like yoga and praying and then
- 22:18Speaker 3: she goes I forgot which is the last place she
- 22:20Speaker 3: goes but that's where she fell in love met her
- 22:22Speaker 3: second husband and then in real life because the book
- 22:25Speaker 3: was about Elizabeth Gilbert the writer was her own story
- 22:30Speaker 3: In real life, she then divorced that guy and fell
- 22:33Speaker 3: in love with a woman and was a late-in-life lesbian.
- 22:36Speaker 3: So if Will is in India, you know I really
- 22:41Speaker 3: want him to also explore not only a great new
- 22:45Speaker 3: yoga pose, but really explore who he is inside. And
- 22:50Speaker 3: I would not be surprised if he has his own eat, pray, love,
- 22:54Speaker 3: and the love is like I don't know, maybe just
- 22:58Speaker 3: spends like a fun summer like at Fire Island or
- 23:02Speaker 3: P-Town or whatever. Those are like fun places where guys
- 23:05Speaker 3: can just really let loose and wear a little short
- 23:08Speaker 3: trunks and get some sun. I think he'd have fun
- 23:12Speaker 3: doing that. Okay. Oh, and then Jada said that they
- 23:17Speaker 3: will be addressing this whole situation with the slap on
- 23:21Speaker 3: the Red Table Talk. And the trailer for the red
- 23:25Speaker 3: table talk is just all these interviews they've already done. Um,
- 23:30Speaker 3: you know, with a lot of people that we've already
- 23:32Speaker 3: heard from over the last six months, um, who, who
- 23:35Speaker 3: is one of the, Oh, the, uh, inventing Anna, the
- 23:38Speaker 3: girl who wrote the book about her, who, who she
- 23:42Speaker 3: screwed over for the hotel built that girls on the show, um,
- 23:47Speaker 3: A lot of people we've already heard from, but it's
- 23:49Speaker 3: the three of them, the grandma, Jada, and Willow, and
- 23:52Speaker 3: they're interviewing people. Sometimes they're interviewing them one-on-one. Sometimes Willow
- 23:56Speaker 3: will just be interviewing someone. Nothing in the trailer shows
- 24:00Speaker 3: them addressing this, but they said they would. So I
- 24:03Speaker 3: assume they're going to do a special episode where they
- 24:06Speaker 3: just talk about it around the red table and then
- 24:10Speaker 3: on with all these high-profile interviews that they've already recorded.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I said that they would probably only talk about it
- 24:18Speaker 3: for like the first part of an episode. Now I'm
- 24:20Speaker 3: hoping that they do spend an entire episode on it,
- 24:23Speaker 3: but I don't think we'll be so lucky. Cuba Gooding Jr.
- 24:29Speaker 3: has pled guilty. You may recall many stories coming out
- 24:35Speaker 3: that he groped people and groped women who did not
- 24:40Speaker 3: want to be groped. This one particular woman, she was
- 24:43Speaker 3: a waitress. She said he grabbed her. kissed her on
- 24:46Speaker 3: the lips. She did not want this. She felt violated.
- 24:51Speaker 3: And he has pled guilty to that offense and apologized.
- 24:57Speaker 3: But he will avoid jail time. However, Gloria Allred is
- 25:01Speaker 3: representing a couple of these women and they hope to
- 25:05Speaker 3: go after him civilly. And so that's pretty interesting. Now,
- 25:10Speaker 3: you know, we haven't seen him in a lot. He
- 25:12Speaker 3: was an Oscar winner. Show me the money. Well, So
- 25:16Speaker 3: I guess Gloria Allred is saying, show me the money.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Heather, that's so funny.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Anyway, Rihanna was out at this restaurant with ASAP Rocky,
- 25:28Speaker 3: and it was the first time they were spotted together
- 25:31Speaker 3: at this hotspot called Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica. I
- 25:37Speaker 3: have eaten there. Last time I was there, I was
- 25:41Speaker 3: with Jill Zarin and Patty Stanger. Who else was there? Oh,
- 25:44Speaker 3: Gretchen Rossi was there. And Rihanna was there. Not at
- 25:47Speaker 3: her table, but she was also there. This has got
- 25:49Speaker 3: to be Rihanna's favorite restaurant. And I missed it. They're like,
- 25:53Speaker 3: didn't you see Rihanna? I'm like, motherfucker, no, I didn't. Anyway,
- 25:56Speaker 3: so she's out in a pair of shorts, bikini top,
- 26:00Speaker 3: full pregnant belly out. I mean, she really loves people
- 26:05Speaker 3: seeing her belly. And I think that's great. She's happy.
- 26:07Speaker 3: She's pregnant. She wasn't happy the other day when he
- 26:11Speaker 3: got arrested. He landed in LAX. They arrested him because
- 26:14Speaker 3: they said this man said that he shot him or
- 26:18Speaker 3: shot at him or shot him. I'm not sure. The
- 26:20Speaker 3: guy lived to tell. So because he told the LAPD
- 26:23Speaker 3: and he said he is the one, A $ AP Rocky
- 26:25Speaker 3: is the one who shot me. November of 2021, he
- 26:32Speaker 3: posted bail. He got out and then they got to
- 26:36Speaker 3: go to dinner. But in the meantime... people that are
- 26:39Speaker 3: close to Rihanna was saying she was hysterically crying. She
- 26:42Speaker 3: missed her baby shower. She was so upset. So he
- 26:47Speaker 3: has been arrested, but now we have to see if
- 26:50Speaker 3: the DA will actually go forward with trying to convict him.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Is there enough evidence? So I'm sure he has the
- 26:58Speaker 3: best of best defense attorneys. I, I don't really know
- 27:03Speaker 3: this case or how much evidence they have, but that
- 27:06Speaker 3: is a bummer that this is all happening while they're
- 27:11Speaker 3: expecting their first baby. But she looked cute and she
- 27:14Speaker 3: had a nice meal. Okay, Madeline McCain. This is a
- 27:18Speaker 3: classic story. Classic in the sense that you've probably heard it.
- 27:23Speaker 3: There's been documentaries. There's been numerous datelines. It happened 13
- 27:28Speaker 3: years ago. There was this couple and they had... a
- 27:33Speaker 3: four-year-old Madeline, and then they had twins that were like
- 27:37Speaker 3: 18 months or two years old. And they were staying
- 27:40Speaker 3: at this beautiful resort in Portugal. And they had, they'd
- 27:45Speaker 3: made friends with people that were also there. And every
- 27:48Speaker 3: night they would put their babies to sleep, leave their
- 27:53Speaker 3: like villa and walk like a pretty decent. I mean,
- 27:58Speaker 3: I've watched it and I was really shocked at the time.
- 28:00Speaker 3: And I know a lot of you were, Because as
- 28:02Speaker 3: a mom, I would never be comfortable doing this. But
- 28:07Speaker 3: apparently them as a couple agreed to do this because
- 28:10Speaker 3: if anything, I was like, my God, if one person
- 28:13Speaker 3: pushed for it and your child got kidnapped, I mean,
- 28:17Speaker 3: the fact that they like stayed married and always had
- 28:19Speaker 3: each other's back and never blamed each other is kind
- 28:21Speaker 3: of amazing. So they would go down and drink wine
- 28:26Speaker 3: and have these like fun dinners. And I get how
- 28:28Speaker 3: much when your kids are that little, three kids under four,
- 28:32Speaker 3: how much you want to sit and have an, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 3: a wine dinner and not be disturbed and have that conversation.
- 28:39Speaker 3: And I guess this is how they felt was the
- 28:41Speaker 3: only way they could do it. I don't know why
- 28:42Speaker 3: they didn't have a sitter or whatever, but they did
- 28:45Speaker 3: it several nights in a row. And then they, but
- 28:48Speaker 3: they would go and check on the kids like every
- 28:50Speaker 3: 45 minutes or whatever an hour, one of them would
- 28:53Speaker 3: go and check on the kids. And when they went back,
- 28:56Speaker 3: the little four-year-old was nowhere to be found, could not
- 29:00Speaker 3: find her. There have been so many different theories of
- 29:06Speaker 3: who did it. Of course, at one time, they were scrutinized.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Did they have something to do with it? Did she
- 29:11Speaker 3: lose her temper? Is he hiding for her? It's very
- 29:15Speaker 3: much like a Jean Benet thing, except they never, ever
- 29:18Speaker 3: found her alive or found her body or anything alive.
- 29:21Speaker 3: They had to go forward with their lives because of
- 29:24Speaker 3: the twins that they were raising. Now there is a
- 29:27Speaker 3: man in Germany. He's currently in custody for a drug offense,
- 29:32Speaker 3: and they have strong reason to believe that he might
- 29:36Speaker 3: be responsible for Madeline, that he is a suspect in this. case,
- 29:40Speaker 3: because they found that his phone, all these years back,
- 29:46Speaker 3: was within a small radius the time of her gone missing.
- 29:52Speaker 3: He was there in the area. They have proof that
- 29:55Speaker 3: he was there at that time. He was a.
- 29:58Speaker 3: He was like a pedophile or something. He had convictions
- 30:02Speaker 3: as far as that. He also raped a 72-year-old woman.
- 30:06Speaker 3: He's a pretty young guy. I saw a photo of him.
- 30:08Speaker 3: He doesn't look like he's like older than 40. But
- 30:13Speaker 3: he is currently in custody doing time for another crime.
- 30:16Speaker 3: And he's a German man. So.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Who knows? But that's just, you know, something in this
- 30:22Speaker 3: case where you just always wonder. And they always do
- 30:24Speaker 3: like what she would look like today because there was
- 30:28Speaker 3: a big feeling like maybe, you know, she's such a
- 30:31Speaker 3: pretty looking child. Maybe someone did sell her to actually
- 30:35Speaker 3: be raised by another family. Maybe she was sex trafficking.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Maybe she, you know, doesn't even know that she has
- 30:41Speaker 3: been kidnapped and she's just living with this other family,
- 30:44Speaker 3: which of course would be the thing you hope for.
- 30:46Speaker 3: But now they think this guy might have something to
- 30:48Speaker 3: do with it, which is not a great sign of
- 30:51Speaker 3: her being safe. Okay, now I want to get into
- 30:54Speaker 3: a juicy crime I've talked about. There's been podcasts. There's
- 30:58Speaker 3: been specials about it, Dateline. This was every kind of
- 31:03Speaker 3: thing I love about a juicy crime because it involved
- 31:06Speaker 3: a couple who was once in love, then hated each other,
- 31:10Speaker 3: got divorced, and the husband, Dan Markle, was shot out
- 31:17Speaker 3: of the blue coming back from the gym after he
- 31:20Speaker 3: dropped off his kids. Nobody knew. Who are his enemies?
- 31:23Speaker 3: What is happening? They investigated a little bit more. He
- 31:27Speaker 3: and his ex-wife, Wendy, they shared a couple kids together.
- 31:34Speaker 3: And they get divorced. It was not a great divorce.
- 31:37Speaker 3: But the real problem was is that she wanted to
- 31:40Speaker 3: relocate and move closer to her parents and her brother
- 31:45Speaker 3: who was a dentist, and he didn't want her to
- 31:49Speaker 3: move because that would affect their 50-50 custody. So when
- 31:52Speaker 3: you have 50-50 custody, if the other spouse does not
- 31:56Speaker 3: agree with you moving, you can't. It's a big deal.
- 32:02Speaker 3: It's a big problem. So her problem was now solved.
- 32:08Speaker 3: The husband is dead. Now she can take her kids,
- 32:11Speaker 3: move near her parents, do whatever she wants. So They
- 32:15Speaker 3: start investigating it and they finally find the man who
- 32:19Speaker 3: shot Dan. And he happens to be the ex-boyfriend of
- 32:23Speaker 3: a woman who not only dated Wendy, the wife's brother,
- 32:29Speaker 3: the dentist, but she also worked at the dental office.
- 32:33Speaker 3: There was always suspicious suspicions that the family was involved
- 32:39Speaker 3: in offing the son-in-law and brother-in-law. And now they have arrested...
- 32:44Speaker 3: the dentist, Wendy's brother. He has now been arrested, and
- 32:52Speaker 3: his name's Charles Adelson, and they believe that, you know,
- 32:57Speaker 3: he was involved in the hiring of this man to
- 32:59Speaker 3: kill his brother-in-law, which there's a lot of evidence to it,
- 33:03Speaker 3: but I think many of it, I guess, was circumstantial
- 33:06Speaker 3: until now. So it'll be really interesting to see what
- 33:09Speaker 3: that trial looks like. I would love to see that
- 33:13Speaker 3: on Court TV. Okay. Another case, my God. Kris Jenner
- 33:21Speaker 3: took the stand about the Blac Chyna case. You know,
- 33:26Speaker 3: someone brought up the fact, why are we not seeing
- 33:28Speaker 3: photos of them walking into the courtroom? Why are there
- 33:31Speaker 3: no paparazzi photos of them walking into the courtroom? I
- 33:33Speaker 3: wonder if they're going through a back door or the
- 33:36Speaker 3: paparazzi is so close to them that they were like,
- 33:40Speaker 3: just don't take photos. I just find that kind of interesting. Anyway.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Chris had to take the stand and she was very emotional.
- 33:48Speaker 3: They asked her, basically, she told the story of their relationship.
- 33:53Speaker 3: She said, I was happy for their relationship. I was
- 33:55Speaker 3: thrilled they were together, which is what I said. She
- 33:57Speaker 3: literally told me too. She's like, you know, we got
- 34:01Speaker 3: her a house. We got them a house. They were pregnant.
- 34:04Speaker 3: They were going to have this show. Why would I
- 34:06Speaker 3: do all that if I wanted to take it away?
- 34:08Speaker 3: I didn't want to take it away. But the fighting
- 34:10Speaker 3: was so bad. And she said both of them were toxic.
- 34:14Speaker 3: They were both doing drugs. It was horrible. And she
- 34:18Speaker 3: started to cry when she recalled the story of hearing
- 34:22Speaker 3: that Blac Chyna put a gun to Rob's head, which,
- 34:25Speaker 3: of course, Blac Chyna says, joking, Monty Python joke. I'm
- 34:30Speaker 3: a comedian. I don't know. And and so that was
- 34:35Speaker 3: one part. Then the text that I talked about were
- 34:38Speaker 3: ditch a bitch. She did. admit that there was evidence
- 34:42Speaker 3: of it. And she said, I did say that, you know, in,
- 34:46Speaker 3: in conversations with the producers, they had the main president
- 34:50Speaker 3: of Brenna Murray do a zoom interview or a testimony
- 34:54Speaker 3: via zoom, I think. And he did say that he
- 34:58Speaker 3: was excited for the show, but yeah, they're the production company.
- 35:02Speaker 3: And so once, you know, he didn't want it. He
- 35:06Speaker 3: also said that they went to lifetime and we, and
- 35:09Speaker 3: I think, MTV and all of them did not want
- 35:13Speaker 3: it either. So nobody wanted this show where this couple
- 35:17Speaker 3: was super toxic and volatile. No network wanted to have
- 35:22Speaker 3: that type of a show. So it's not looking good
- 35:26Speaker 3: for Black China because these executives are saying that, you know,
- 35:30Speaker 3: it doesn't matter if Chris didn't want the show or not.
- 35:33Speaker 3: We couldn't do anything with this show. And I think,
- 35:39Speaker 3: and this has been brought up too, that the jury,
- 35:42Speaker 3: if they love the Kardashians, they're going to still love them.
- 35:46Speaker 3: But if they hate the Kardashians, they're not going to
- 35:48Speaker 3: have extra love for Blac Chyna, a woman who has
- 35:54Speaker 3: a pretty sordid past and then got famous off the
- 36:00Speaker 3: backs of people that you don't appreciate are famous anyway.
- 36:02Speaker 3: It's like the third tier of a thing. And And
- 36:07Speaker 3: that she feels so entitled to have had this show
- 36:09Speaker 3: go on for all these years. And, oh, I missed
- 36:12Speaker 3: out on $ 100 million because I would have been this
- 36:15Speaker 3: fabulous spokesperson for all these things had I just had
- 36:18Speaker 3: more seasons on E! No, you wouldn't have. So, again,
- 36:22Speaker 3: I really don't think she is going to walk away
- 36:25Speaker 3: with any money. That is my prediction in this one.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Blac Chyna is going to lose here. Quick housewife news.
- 36:32Speaker 3: The New Jersey trailer has dropped for the reunion. It's
- 36:35Speaker 3: a three-part reunion and it looks really fricking juicy. I
- 36:38Speaker 3: cannot wait. That season got really good. It's all about Teresa,
- 36:44Speaker 3: her man, Louis and Margaret and her fighting about it.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Oh my God, that is good. However, the Real Housewives
- 36:52Speaker 3: OC reunion was only a two-parter, not a shock. It
- 36:58Speaker 3: was pretty boring. I have to say it was pretty boring.
- 37:01Speaker 3: But Noella, yes, admitted that she met Sweet James, the attorney,
- 37:06Speaker 3: on a dating website called Seeking Arrangements. But I wasn't
- 37:13Speaker 3: with him for money. I just was trying to arrange
- 37:17Speaker 3: something between beautiful women and men who have money that
- 37:21Speaker 3: would like to spend money on beautiful women. So, not
- 37:26Speaker 3: a shock, okay? I've talked a lot about her, especially
- 37:30Speaker 3: on Patreon, the scoop I have on her. So, um,
- 37:33Speaker 3: who cares? Are we, are we surprised? You know? Um, anyway,
- 37:37Speaker 3: that was kind of juicy. Um, nothing else really. Oh,
- 37:42Speaker 3: Heather Dubrow says about, um, that she knew that Shannon's husband, oh,
- 37:47Speaker 3: maybe that's coming up anyway. She's like, I knew that your,
- 37:51Speaker 3: that your husband was having an affair and you knew,
- 37:53Speaker 3: and then you came to the reunion, um, He came
- 37:58Speaker 3: to the reunion on the first season and didn't reveal
- 38:01Speaker 3: it and then acted like it happened the second season,
- 38:04Speaker 3: almost like reenacting this affair that you guys were aware
- 38:08Speaker 3: that had happened. That's what she's trying to say. And
- 38:12Speaker 3: Shannon is not having it. It's really upsetting, Shannon. She's
- 38:15Speaker 3: fighting her on that. Anyway, that's Real Housewives of OC.
- 38:18Speaker 3: And it's only a two-parter because there just wasn't that
- 38:22Speaker 3: much in it. So there you guys go. And now
- 38:26Speaker 3: for my interview with Melissa Rivers. Hello and welcome to
- 38:30Speaker 3: Juicy Scoop. I'm here with a returned favorite, Melissa Rivers.
- 38:35Speaker 3: You have a new book out. Welcome.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Thank you. Always good to see you.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I know. We have a lot of mutual friends and
- 38:41Speaker 3: lots of fun times when we see each other. And
- 38:44Speaker 3: I'm excited about this book. You told me about it,
- 38:47Speaker 3: that you were doing it. Lies My Mother Told Me.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Tall tales from a short woman story. And she really
- 38:54Speaker 3: was so tiny. I remember the few times I met
- 38:56Speaker 3: her in person, I didn't realize how incredibly petite she
- 39:00Speaker 3: really was.
- 39:01Speaker 2: And it wasn't just that she was short. She was
- 39:04Speaker 2: like 5'2. She had those little, tiny, fine bones where
- 39:10Speaker 2: I have good peasant stock bones. She had those little, refined,
- 39:16Speaker 2: little skinny bones. Wow.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Um, I, I, I, I love your stories about her
- 39:21Speaker 3: and I, I, I just always loved your relationship with her.
- 39:25Speaker 3: And I remember the first time I really got to
- 39:27Speaker 3: see it was in the documentary. Oh.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Yes.
- 39:30Speaker 3: And I remember you were just like, you guys are
- 39:34Speaker 3: doing something together, hair and makeup. And she was just
- 39:38Speaker 3: such that mother, not only from that era of time,
- 39:42Speaker 3: but just, you know, like, this is the way she
- 39:45Speaker 3: talked about, you know, about hair and makeup and stuff
- 39:47Speaker 3: to someone that's just like, mom, I'm doing it though. Like,
- 39:50Speaker 3: could you not like, yeah, stop. Right. Stop.
- 39:54Speaker 2: But see, and that's something interesting because we both have boys.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 2: So we don't have to deal with that. We're just like,
- 40:00Speaker 2: did you put on deodorant? Right.
- 40:02Speaker 3: And, and it's just, it is an interesting thing of like,
- 40:05Speaker 3: and the dynamic of how and how really close you
- 40:07Speaker 3: guys were to and work together and all that stuff.
- 40:10Speaker 3: And that is different because with my sister and her daughter,
- 40:15Speaker 3: it's just like every time I want to hang out
- 40:18Speaker 3: with my sister Shannon and Haley's around, it's like she
- 40:21Speaker 3: wants to be part of the fun. And it's like,
- 40:23Speaker 3: oh my God, like I was here first. Like we
- 40:26Speaker 3: were friends first. And it happens with my girlfriends too
- 40:29Speaker 3: with teenage daughters. They text all the time. They talk
- 40:32Speaker 3: all the time. And it's like with our sons, it's
- 40:34Speaker 3: just like literally they'll only initiate a conversation if I'm
- 40:39Speaker 3: out to bring home food. There's no other like, Hey,
- 40:43Speaker 3: I saw this funny thing or mom, could we do it?
- 40:46Speaker 3: It's just like, um, I, I, can you bring back Chick-fil-A?
- 40:49Speaker 3: It's a big text.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Yeah. I, I have started communicating, um, very often with
- 40:55Speaker 2: Cooper by sending him stuff from Instagram and then he'll
- 41:00Speaker 2: put up like an emoji, you know, next to it.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 2: And that's like proof of life. You know what I mean?
- 41:08Speaker 2: Because he's a junior in college.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Right. The proof of life thing is so funny. Yes.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I saw this other thing where this woman wrote this
- 41:17Speaker 3: like just beautiful– she goes, I just wanted to– I
- 41:20Speaker 3: wrote this to my son and it was just this
- 41:22Speaker 3: long thing of like honestly how proud she is. He's
- 41:24Speaker 3: such a great kid.
- 41:25Speaker 2: You get that? K. K. Not even okay. Just K
- 41:31Speaker 2: or T-Y. Yeah.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:33Speaker 2: You know, it's like you can actually spell out the
- 41:35Speaker 2: words thank you.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Or love you too. But– K is the worst.
- 41:41Speaker 3: And I always remember– and you had a story about this,
- 41:43Speaker 3: so I jumped to this chapter. I do remember your wedding.
- 41:48Speaker 3: I remember you and Joan being on Oprah to discuss
- 41:53Speaker 3: how the wedding has taken a life of its own.
- 41:57Speaker 3: And– And let's talk a little bit about that part
- 41:59Speaker 3: of the book. Yes. Yes.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Well, the book obviously is very hyper realistic. People keep
- 42:07Speaker 2: saying to me, did she really say those things?
- 42:10Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm like, no.
- 42:12Speaker 2: And it was like, well, what's the, what's the truth
- 42:14Speaker 2: in there? I'm like, well, I can really break it down.
- 42:17Speaker 2: We had Thanksgiving.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Yeah. That's it. Yeah.
- 42:20Speaker 2: She went to theater.
- 42:22Speaker 3: That's it.
- 42:22Speaker 2: You know, I had a wedding.
- 42:24Speaker 3: That's where that stopped.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Um, So, I mean, what is there even to talk
- 42:29Speaker 2: about about the wedding? God, it was so long ago.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Well, I just love that she really was someone who
- 42:36Speaker 3: just liked the finer things in life, didn't apologize for it,
- 42:40Speaker 3: and worked really hard to attain it.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 42:42Speaker 3: And then was really generous with the people around her.
- 42:45Speaker 3: And I think that's something that, you know, isn't like
- 42:48Speaker 3: typical of someone in the field of stand-up. Like, and
- 42:52Speaker 3: I always just kind of loved it because as someone
- 42:54Speaker 3: that's a stand-up, I love glamour and I love... hair
- 42:57Speaker 3: and makeup and she was always that she was a
- 43:00Speaker 3: female comedian that dressed up and cared about her looks
- 43:03Speaker 3: and didn't apologize for.
- 43:04Speaker 2: It she was one of the first ones you know
- 43:06Speaker 2: up until when she broke through you were comedians were
- 43:11Speaker 2: expected women were supposed to look funny yeah and be
- 43:14Speaker 2: funny and the thing is and I don't know if
- 43:16Speaker 2: you ever had the chance to meet Phyllis Diller I
- 43:18Speaker 2: never met her but of course yeah one of the
- 43:21Speaker 2: most beautiful women you will ever meet had to actively
- 43:27Speaker 2: make herself look crazy.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Wow. And she had like five kids, right?
- 43:32Speaker 2: I don't even know, but she had the most amazing
- 43:34Speaker 2: house in Brentwood on the most amazing piece of property.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I mean, and she lived this very elegant life. Again,
- 43:40Speaker 2: you would never think Phyllis Diller with the crazy hats,
- 43:43Speaker 2: but my mom was the first one who was kind
- 43:45Speaker 2: of like, it's still okay to be pretty. It's still
- 43:48Speaker 2: okay to come out in my little black dress and
- 43:51Speaker 2: my pearls and then glam it up with a boa.
- 43:53Speaker 2: And that really changed. That really changed the landscape for
- 43:58Speaker 2: women comedians because, like I said, you were supposed to
- 44:00Speaker 2: look funny.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Right. And they were good friends, right?
- 44:04Speaker 2: Friendly, yes.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Yeah, they were friendly, yes. And because one thing about
- 44:08Speaker 3: Joan that was always, you know, so great is that
- 44:11Speaker 3: so many female comedians, and I only have a little
- 44:14Speaker 3: bit of exchange with her, and I was so looking
- 44:19Speaker 3: forward to, we were supposed to, we had a couple
- 44:21Speaker 3: events coming up that she was going to be at,
- 44:23Speaker 3: and unfortunately she passed before, and I was like, to
- 44:26Speaker 3: the person like sit me next to Joan. I had
- 44:29Speaker 3: it all set up, you know, and, um, but that
- 44:32Speaker 3: she was so supportive of other comedians like, you know,
- 44:35Speaker 3: Kathy Griffin and, uh, Margaret Cho and so many people
- 44:39Speaker 3: spoke so highly. And I think sometimes, you know, that's
- 44:42Speaker 3: also really admirable because in the documentary, she was being
- 44:46Speaker 3: really honest. It was before it was kind of her big,
- 44:49Speaker 3: before the big comeback, before you guys did fashion police.
- 44:52Speaker 3: And she was like, looked at the calendar to the
- 44:54Speaker 3: old school calendar and, And she's like, these dates used
- 44:57Speaker 3: to be full, and now they're.
- 44:59Speaker 2: All Kathy Griffin.
- 45:01Speaker 3: She said it.
- 45:01Speaker 2: She's like, my calendar is so white, I'm snow blind.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:06Speaker 2: And that's really hard. And as for you not having
- 45:08Speaker 2: the opportunity to get to spend time with her, lucky you,
- 45:13Speaker 2: you got me.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Sorry, you got the discount. You got the remainders version.
- 45:21Speaker 3: And that must have been kind of hard, too, that, like,
- 45:24Speaker 3: you know, because you worked with your mom and you
- 45:26Speaker 3: produced your mom, but do you ever feel like, I
- 45:30Speaker 3: don't know, it must have been like in a shadow.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Of course. And she always used to talk about the
- 45:36Speaker 2: fact that one of her, one of the things that
- 45:39Speaker 2: bothered her most in sort of her career was the
- 45:42Speaker 2: fact that I was not given credit. That she got
- 45:45Speaker 2: all the credit, and especially on the last couple shows,
- 45:49Speaker 2: I was the one doing the heavy lifting.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:52Speaker 2: And that was very frustrating for her. And, and, and she,
- 45:57Speaker 2: we talked about it openly. She's like, you know, it's
- 45:59Speaker 2: a blessing and a curse. And the curse is you
- 46:01Speaker 2: will not get credit ever for anything you accomplish. And
- 46:05Speaker 2: I'm trying to change that obviously. Yeah. And I've worked
- 46:08Speaker 2: really hard and I had, I kept fashion police on
- 46:10Speaker 2: the air for another two years after she passed. And
- 46:13Speaker 2: this is my fourth book. And yeah, How many thousands
- 46:17Speaker 2: of hours of television have I hosted and or produced?
- 46:22Speaker 2: And at one point you do want to just go like, oh,
- 46:24Speaker 2: come on, people. But again, how lucky was I that
- 46:28Speaker 2: I got to sit at the feet of the best
- 46:31Speaker 2: and shut up and learn?
- 46:33Speaker 3: And, you know, with the climate that has changed, not
- 46:37Speaker 3: only in the comedy world, the cancel culture.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Easy for you to say.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 46:42Speaker 3: How we talk about everything differently. you know, people oftentimes
- 46:46Speaker 3: bring up, well, what, how would Jones jokes and how
- 46:50Speaker 3: would she, would she have adjusted herself or would she
- 46:53Speaker 3: not have? And, or then sometimes I'm like, well, maybe she,
- 46:57Speaker 3: maybe she did, you know, go at the perfect time.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Because like, sometimes I think about my parents, I'm like,
- 47:03Speaker 3: I'm glad they haven't been around these last few years.
- 47:06Speaker 3: They would not, they would be like, what the hell?
- 47:08Speaker 3: And COVID and everything that's been going on. And they'd
- 47:10Speaker 3: be like, what the hell is this? You know? And
- 47:13Speaker 3: so what are your thoughts about where Fashion Police would
- 47:17Speaker 3: have gone? How would she have been able to be
- 47:21Speaker 3: as honest? She wouldn't have been able to be honest.
- 47:23Speaker 3: And her comedy was honest.
- 47:25Speaker 2: And I've obviously thought about that a lot. And my
- 47:29Speaker 2: thoughts have kind of changed as we've been going along.
- 47:32Speaker 2: First of all, she was a lightning rod to start with.
- 47:36Speaker 2: So I think In a lot of ways, she wouldn't
- 47:41Speaker 2: necessarily have changed. I think maybe some of the wording
- 47:44Speaker 2: would have changed. But it would have been done very
- 47:47Speaker 2: tongue-in-cheek with a big eye roll. And at this point,
- 47:50Speaker 2: I think that a huge part of her act would
- 47:53Speaker 2: be about cancel culture.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 47:56Speaker 2: And sort of do it that way. Like, I'm not
- 47:57Speaker 2: allowed to say this. Right. I'm not allowed to say
- 48:00Speaker 2: that and then still say it.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Right, and make fun of the fact that I am
- 48:04Speaker 3: an older person and I'm just trying to adjust. I
- 48:06Speaker 3: don't cancel me, but this is weird to me because
- 48:10Speaker 3: this is my background.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Heads up for the lightning bolt that's about to strike
- 48:13Speaker 2: you for using the word older. Right. And notice I
- 48:17Speaker 2: back away.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, shit.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Here it comes.
- 48:24Speaker 3: Would she just hate that?
- 48:26Speaker 2: But, you know, the thing is, she was so relevant.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Yeah. And.
- 48:32Speaker 2: She had friends who were older, friends who were younger.
- 48:34Speaker 2: And her whole thing was, you know, you don't want
- 48:38Speaker 2: to get stuck. You don't want to get stuck in
- 48:40Speaker 2: the past. You want to be talking about what's right
- 48:44Speaker 2: in front of you. And people say, how would it
- 48:46Speaker 2: have been during COVID? And I'm like, well, first of all,
- 48:48Speaker 2: she would have moved in with me.
- 48:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:50Speaker 2: And one of us would have ended up in jail.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 2: For sure. I don't know which one. It could have
- 48:55Speaker 2: been Cooper. I don't know.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Had you never– I know like then you had your
- 48:59Speaker 3: We Show, your reality show, which was scripted– not scripted.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Lightly.
- 49:04Speaker 3: It was a reality show, but it was kind of fun.
- 49:06Speaker 3: It was almost making– Kind of like a Chrisley Knows Best.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Kind of like scenarios set up and stuff, but still improv.
- 49:12Speaker 2: But also it was, again, almost a satirical version of
- 49:18Speaker 2: a reality show.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Show.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Right. Where things were so ridiculous that you knew they
- 49:23Speaker 2: weren't real, but just let us run with it and play.
- 49:27Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Yes. You know? And so in that one, there were
- 49:30Speaker 3: times that I think you guys were saying that you
- 49:33Speaker 3: lived together, but did you ever live together post, like, college?
- 49:36Speaker 2: Well, she stayed at... With me. And it makes me,
- 49:41Speaker 2: it's so funny because people are always like, I was
- 49:42Speaker 2: at your mom's house. I'm like, no, you were actually
- 49:44Speaker 2: at my house. You know, the house that your mom,
- 49:48Speaker 2: you know, I'm like, no, no, but that's okay. No
- 49:50Speaker 2: one needs to, I don't need to belabor that. But
- 49:54Speaker 2: she would be with me and Cooper probably two to
- 50:01Speaker 2: four days a week when we were doing Fashion Police
- 50:05Speaker 2: and the reality shows.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 50:07Speaker 2: So, you know, she had her own room. She kept
- 50:09Speaker 2: stuff there. And that's a lot, you know? So did
- 50:12Speaker 2: we live together?
- 50:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 3: You know?
- 50:15Speaker 2: And one of the things I always think about was
- 50:17Speaker 2: how great that was for Cooper.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Yes, definitely.
- 50:19Speaker 2: How great. And I remember one time she was like,
- 50:22Speaker 2: she comes to me and she's like, he's being rude
- 50:25Speaker 2: and not paying attention to me. And I'm like, cause
- 50:29Speaker 2: you're here so much. He doesn't feel like it's special.
- 50:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:33Speaker 2: And I'm like, think about it that way. She's like,
- 50:36Speaker 2: that's amazing. I'm like, yeah. He just thinks of you
- 50:40Speaker 2: as part of like the furniture as that's great. That
- 50:44Speaker 2: you coming is not an event.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Right. And then he feels so comfortable.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Then he's just like, grandma. And I'm like, she's like,
- 50:51Speaker 2: Oh my God, I never thought of it that way.
- 50:52Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, you are here that much.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Yeah. And, um, okay. Let me get to some juicy
- 50:59Speaker 3: questions from our people here. Um, Did Joan ever do
- 51:03Speaker 3: a joke about anybody or anything that she did feel
- 51:06Speaker 3: bad about or regretted later?
- 51:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 51:10Speaker 3: A couple of them.
- 51:12Speaker 2: One time she used to have a joke about Willie
- 51:14Speaker 2: Nelson saying that he wore soap on a rope as jewelry.
- 51:19Speaker 2: And it got back to her that it upset his daughter.
- 51:23Speaker 2: It was out the next day.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Gone.
- 51:28Speaker 2: At one point she did on Fashion Police say no
- 51:31Speaker 2: more Britney Spears jokes. And it was after like the
- 51:34Speaker 2: head shaving. She's like, this girl's in real trouble. This
- 51:37Speaker 2: isn't funny anymore. This isn't something you can. It's too much.
- 51:43Speaker 2: So she's the one who said no more. You know,
- 51:47Speaker 2: and so there's she is sensitive to when real people.
- 51:52Speaker 2: people were going through crisis or she found out she
- 51:55Speaker 2: had really upset someone's daughter or son or spouse, the
- 52:01Speaker 2: celebrities were fair game. But when she heard that she
- 52:03Speaker 2: upset someone's daughter, done.
- 52:06Speaker 3: Speaking of the celebrities, I remember, you know, there was
- 52:09Speaker 3: that era where she was kind of around when she
- 52:12Speaker 3: had her only night show a couple of years prior,
- 52:14Speaker 3: which was always doing Johnny Carson. And there were just
- 52:17Speaker 3: all the jokes about Elizabeth Taylor and And that Elizabeth Taylor,
- 52:20Speaker 3: you know, had gained weight. And it's interesting because I
- 52:24Speaker 3: was watching something and the way people would talk about
- 52:27Speaker 3: Delta Burke and things like that. And you're looking back
- 52:31Speaker 3: at them now and you're like, they weren't even, you know,
- 52:35Speaker 3: that like, you know, but at the time.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Liz Taylor was big.
- 52:39Speaker 3: She was big.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Delta would now fall into curvy.
- 52:42Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 52:43Speaker 2: But you go back and look at the pictures of
- 52:45Speaker 2: Elizabeth Taylor. She was, she was, she wore a lot of.
- 52:48Speaker 2: calf tans.
- 52:49Speaker 3: Yes. And so she'd gained a lot of weight. And
- 52:53Speaker 3: I read something where people were, you know, where someone
- 52:55Speaker 3: was kind of analyzing why, why Joan did so many
- 52:59Speaker 3: jokes about that. And the idea behind this person who
- 53:03Speaker 3: was analyzing was like, you know, Joan worked so hard to,
- 53:09Speaker 3: you know, make herself look as beautiful and stay thin
- 53:12Speaker 3: and everything. And here, the most beautiful woman in the
- 53:14Speaker 3: world had quote unquote, lack of a old term that
- 53:20Speaker 3: my mom used to say to kind of let herself go.
- 53:23Speaker 3: And it was like, how could you do that when
- 53:25Speaker 3: you had the most perfect face, the most perfect, like,
- 53:28Speaker 3: how could you let yourself? So in, in that, that's
- 53:32Speaker 3: kind of what maybe drove her somewhat, you know, obsession
- 53:35Speaker 3: of talking about that so much. I mean, do you
- 53:37Speaker 3: remember or have an opinion on that?
- 53:39Speaker 2: Also because, you know, and, and I'm sure you know this,
- 53:43Speaker 2: you can't, People don't understand that to be able to
- 53:47Speaker 2: make a joke about somebody, everyone that you're performing for,
- 53:52Speaker 2: so sometimes the world, like my mom, you have to
- 53:55Speaker 2: be so well known that everybody has such working knowledge
- 54:00Speaker 2: of you that you get why the joke is funny.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Right.
- 54:05Speaker 2: And my mother had one friend who was a, still is,
- 54:08Speaker 2: a major celeb. And at one point my mom took
- 54:13Speaker 2: her out of her app. And she called. She's like, oh,
- 54:16Speaker 2: my God, I'm out of your act. What does this mean?
- 54:18Speaker 2: Where's my career? Like, she got how comedy works like that.
- 54:23Speaker 2: You can't make a joke about someone that nobody knows
- 54:27Speaker 2: or has a really deep knowledge of because it's stupid
- 54:30Speaker 2: and not funny.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Right.
- 54:32Speaker 2: So with Elizabeth Taylor, the jokes worked because she transcended celebrity.
- 54:38Speaker 2: She was one of the most famous women in the world. Right. again,
- 54:42Speaker 2: is that mindset of she let herself go. And when you, and,
- 54:47Speaker 2: and they also had a mutual, very good mutual friend.
- 54:51Speaker 2: And he, my mom said one time to our friend, can,
- 54:53Speaker 2: does this upset her? And the response was no, because wait,
- 54:58Speaker 2: it was such a great line. It doesn't, it doesn't
- 55:01Speaker 2: hurt me where I live.
- 55:04Speaker 3: I don't get that.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Meaning she's so different and removed from the looks. Oh, okay.
- 55:13Speaker 2: That it didn't... She shrugged it off.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Oh, okay. That's good.
- 55:17Speaker 2: It doesn't hurt me where I live.
- 55:19Speaker 3: Oh, interesting.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 55:20Speaker 2: Which is such a profound statement.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:25Speaker 2: And then later in life, they became friendly. Really?
- 55:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:28Speaker 2: I mean, I did... Again, she had great.
- 55:31Speaker 4: But also.
- 55:32Speaker 2: But also then she had great humor and.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Kept her relevant it.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Kept I was going to say it kept her relevant
- 55:37Speaker 3: because even at that point like I wasn't going to
- 55:41Speaker 3: movies with Elizabeth Taylor in it I wouldn't have known
- 55:43Speaker 3: who Elizabeth Taylor was just like sometimes now when I
- 55:46Speaker 3: make references to people talking to you know Annie who
- 55:50Speaker 3: works for me or something I have to be like
- 55:52Speaker 3: do you know who that is because I realized back
- 55:54Speaker 3: when my mom would throw names around I'd be like
- 55:57Speaker 3: I don't know who you're talking about you know like
- 55:58Speaker 3: 20-30 years difference of two people the references might not
- 56:04Speaker 3: work And then you realize who is transcending generations and
- 56:08Speaker 3: who is staying relevant. And part of that is part
- 56:11Speaker 3: of it that, you know, like you're still, you know,
- 56:14Speaker 3: kind of making fun of this person or doing an
- 56:16Speaker 3: impression of them or whatever.
- 56:17Speaker 2: But also this is a woman who when women were
- 56:20Speaker 2: not making, you know, hundreds and hundreds upon millions of
- 56:24Speaker 2: dollars with their businesses, White Diamonds is still one of
- 56:29Speaker 2: the biggest perfume sellers.
- 56:32Speaker 3: She was like the first celebrity to really get into perfumes. Yep.
- 56:36Speaker 2: And I mean, crazy successful. And to this day, it
- 56:40Speaker 2: makes money.
- 56:41Speaker 3: You know, I remember somebody saying... Remember the commercials?
- 56:45Speaker 2: Here, these have always brought me luck.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 56:48Speaker 4: You know?
- 56:48Speaker 3: And then there were like different ones. Interesting that you
- 56:51Speaker 3: bring up, like that we're bringing up Elizabeth Taylor because,
- 56:55Speaker 3: you know, the other most talked about person in the
- 56:57Speaker 3: world is Kim Kardashian. And I remember years ago... A
- 57:01Speaker 3: friend and I were talking about her or whatever, and
- 57:05Speaker 3: my friend goes, I think she thinks of herself as
- 57:10Speaker 3: like an Elizabeth Taylor. I go, what do you mean?
- 57:12Speaker 3: She goes, I think she's going to be married like
- 57:14Speaker 3: eight times in her life. I think it's going to be,
- 57:16Speaker 3: you know, like the type of thing. And I'm like, oh,
- 57:18Speaker 3: my God, when you look at the– like following the
- 57:22Speaker 3: alignment of fame with the perfumes and all of this
- 57:26Speaker 3: and all these different types of people and the way–
- 57:28Speaker 3: If you're ever dipping a little, you perk back up
- 57:31Speaker 3: with a new romance. It's really what Elizabeth's life was.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I'm going to do you one better.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Jennifer Lopez.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Well, totally. Remember, she had the perfume. She had the makeup.
- 57:41Speaker 2: She still has all that stuff.
- 57:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:43Speaker 2: And engaged now six times and twice to the same guy.
- 57:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 57:46Speaker 3: That's really Elizabeth. It's really Elizabeth Taylor.
- 57:49Speaker 2: I mean, Kim, chop, chop.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Catch back up.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow.
- 57:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:55Speaker 2: And the men gift Jennifer Lopez major jewelry. Right.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Major jewelry.
- 58:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:04Speaker 2: That's just like, I want to know, does she give the,
- 58:05Speaker 2: is she given the ring back all six times?
- 58:07Speaker 3: You know, I was talking about somebody, they, people believe
- 58:09Speaker 3: that no, she has kept them all, but I don't
- 58:12Speaker 3: know if there's proof of that.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Um, as my mother would say, he wants it back.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Swallow the ring. If he really wants it. No, no
- 58:21Speaker 2: matter what, No man will dig through shit for a diamond.
- 58:24Speaker 2: Swallow the stone.
- 58:32Speaker 3: I remember one of your mom's jokes on Carson was like,
- 58:36Speaker 3: she was like, you know, all these men say, oh,
- 58:38Speaker 3: they want a smart woman. Oh, bullshit. No man's ever.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Put his hand up a woman's dress looking for a
- 58:45Speaker 2: library card.
- 58:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:47Speaker 2: And my other fear is like, what's your favorite? I
- 58:49Speaker 2: always say, and it's a horrible joke. And please, it's
- 58:53Speaker 2: so not PC, so everybody just fucking relax. That dress
- 58:58Speaker 2: is so ugly, it looks like it would be good
- 59:00Speaker 2: at math. And I know it's not PC. Right. I'm
- 59:07Speaker 2: putting out the full disclaimer. Yes. is simply a quote
- 59:12Speaker 2: of something that was said in the past so don't
- 59:15Speaker 2: hold me responsible for it right but that's a great
- 59:18Speaker 2: joke yeah I agree that was a fashion police joke.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Um any funny memories or stories that she can share
- 59:25Speaker 3: oh we were doing that sorry oh this was juicy
- 59:28Speaker 3: okay um Joan alluded to having a complex, competitive maybe,
- 59:33Speaker 3: relationship with her sister Barbara. Is there any truth in that?
- 59:37Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely.
- 59:38Speaker 3: What is that about? I don't know about Barbara.
- 59:40Speaker 2: So she had an older sister named Barbara who growing
- 59:44Speaker 2: up was– and I only put it in the past
- 59:46Speaker 2: tense because she's dead– staggeringly beautiful and brilliant.
- 59:54Speaker 3: Brilliant.
- 59:56Speaker 2: And– Their whole life, my mother was overshadowed by Barbara.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Was it just the two of them?
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Just the two of them. And in school, it was
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: always like, oh, you're Barbara's sister. You're Barbara's sister. You're
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: not as smart as Barbara. You're not as beautiful as Barbara.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Boys would come to take out my aunt and ignore
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: my mother. So much of, I think, her drive came
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: from that sibling rivalry. And my mother always talked about
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: her whole life, it was always, this is my daughter
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: with her mother. And not meaning to be me. This
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: is my daughter, Barbara, and my other daughter, Joan. And
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: my mom distinctly remembered the first time her mother said,
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: this is my daughter, Joan, and my other daughter, Barbara.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: And it was once she was successful?
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Once she was successful.
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: Oh, I.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I mean, it's super complex and deep.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: It's super complex and weird, and you kind of wonder.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: It is hard. I mean, you have one son, and
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: I have two, and I do sometimes say Drake and
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: my other son Brandon, or I'll say my other son
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: is Brandon just because I feel like maybe I've talked
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: more about Drake in my acting stuff, and it's a
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: more unique name, and I definitely don't think I talk
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: so openly with my sons to never be like that,
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: and they don't have a competitive thing. But definitely back
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: in those days where teachers would know that you were
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: the sibling, and if you had a smart sibling or
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: if you had an older brother that got in trouble,
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: maybe they'd be like, oh, we better watch this one
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: or whatever the situation. And so that is so.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: But by the way, also, who knows? Maybe it was
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: because my aunt was older than my mom.
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. I don't know what my grandmother's,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: if there was any deep meaning to it. But in
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: my mom's head, it was because Barbara was smarter. Barbara
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: was prettier. Barbara was more popular. Barbara, you know, graduated
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: from college at 19 and went to Columbia Law School
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: and was one of five women and then decided she
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: actually wanted to go to medical school and got right
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: into medical school. You know what I mean? And then
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: got married. You know what I mean?
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: And did she and Barbara get along? Like, were they
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: friendly or did they not really mesh that well? Because
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: they had such different drives.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Humor brought the whole family together. As mad as they
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: would get at each other. And it was very typical
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: sibling rivalry. Because they were, what, three and a half
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: years apart. But no matter what, when they were arguing,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: someone would start to laugh.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: So would Barbara brag about Joan and go to Joan's
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: shows throughout her whole career?
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: I don't know if she would brag. They weren't really
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: raised that way.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: But yeah, whenever my mom was playing on the East Coast,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: my aunt would come. They'd have dinner. They'd have lunch
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: before the show. Or when we were in Atlantic City,
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: she would bring my cousins and all the kids would
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: hang out.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: And she would love it and love the act and
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: all of that.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: As much as you can see, I'm not a sibling,
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: so I don't get all the nuances of sibling rivalry,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: especially with two girls, where I just remember her always
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: being like, oh, my God, that was hilarious. I'm not
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: sure you should have mentioned so-and-so, but that was hilarious. Oh.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: But I don't think– I know, but still, I kind
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: of get it. Yeah, it's a sister thing.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Unless you have a sister, I can't get my head
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: around it.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: So I have a sister, but we have just– like
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: it's probably the best relationship in my entire life like
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: we just really really get along well but so my
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: sister is number four and I'm number five and she
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: is the only one that doesn't have brown eyes in
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: the family okay and they're kind of these blue green
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: eyes and um so my grandmother had both my grandmothers
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: had these charm bracelets with all their grandkids and all
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: of ours were like these little like a little girl's
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: face or whatever like you just bought them it's like
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: a very popular thing and then the one that was
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: my sister was this like little like baby Skeletor head
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: with two like blue jewels in it. And it was
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: like blue eyes, a reason for happiness. I mean, it
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: was just so weird.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: But look at you, by the way, that you remember
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: that it irritated you.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: And so then, and then whenever we were two and
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: a half years apart, so my mom would buy a
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: lot of outfits for us the same, you know?
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Lucky you.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: And it would always be, she would always get the
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: blue version and then I'd get whatever color, pink, purple,
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: whatever it was. And so one day I said it
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: like in my young standup way before being a standup,
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: I'd be like, I just got whatever other color. I've never,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: you've never bought me a blue piece of clothing in
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: my entire life.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: And oh.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: My God, I think my mom felt so badly after that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Every Angora sweater, everything was blue, different shades of blues.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: And I was like, oh my God, mom, you know, like,
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: and so that's where I'm like, it's just so funny
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: when you look back and like, what was the intention of,
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: you know, the parent's intention was never there, but what
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: you felt is what you felt. And a family dynamic and,
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: and birth order and growing up with sibling versus not,
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: or having a certain amount of years between you can
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: really shape the child's personality. There's benefits and drawbacks to both,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: you know? And so it's just that, that's interesting. I
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: just did not really realize that. Okay.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad that the therapy today has been good
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: for you.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: You'll get my bill. Oh my God, I've learned something
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: about my dynamic with my sister and my feelings for
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: the color blue.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: I have anger towards blue. Joan dumped the love of
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: her life, Oren Lehman, for having lunches with other ladies
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: and never spoke to him again. What was your thoughts
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: on that situation?
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: That's a very, very sanitized version. Okay. Of what happened. Okay.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: And it wasn't just having lunch.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: So she had a boyfriend. Was this the last man
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: she was serious with? Yes. And they were together for.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Quite a while.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Yeah. And how did she find out that he was
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: seeing other women?
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: So this is such a great story. They used the
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: same optometrist. And my mother went in to pick up
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: a new pair of glasses. It was on Madison Avenue.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: And she was running errands. So she was like, oh,
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: I'm just going to stop and pick up my glasses.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: And while she was there, she walked in and... Or
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: she went to pick up Oren's glasses and they said, oh,
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: here are your glasses. And she's like, I didn't order
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: new glasses. And she was like, excuse me? They're like, no, no, Mr.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Lehman gave us credit card for these. They're on his account.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: And mom's like, I didn't order new glasses.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: So he's buying glasses for another lady.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: He was full on that, you know, and then she
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: started to, go through credit card statements and da-da-da-da-da-da.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: So he had a full nother girlfriend.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Did she ever find out who she was?
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: And what was she?
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: What type of person was she? She was a famous
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: ex-old school movie star.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: So was she like the same age as the joke?
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: No, she was older than my mom. She was closer
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: to Oren's age. But imagine that. My mom's like, I
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: didn't order new glasses.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Oh, my God. And so how did she, did she
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: confront him right away?
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: I think once she looked at the credit card bills,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: I'm surprised. I mean, I just was getting it sort
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: of in, as she was telling me, but then also
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: her assistant telling me what was really going on. You know,
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: and she did not, let's just say she didn't handle
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: it well, nor delicately.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: So she was, was she more angry than like heartbroken?
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Oh, angry, angry. And heartbroken, but really angry.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Really angry. Yeah.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: You know? So, and I, for the life of me,
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: I can't, but that was the big thing was they
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: accidentally gave her.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: Was Oren, was Oren in the documentary? I feel like
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: I remember her. I think so.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: I don't remember. I haven't watched the documentary in a
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: long time.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: But I don't remember. Yeah. To be 100% honest, I
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: know that's terrible.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: I feel like.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: But I think also that's someone I've kind of just like,
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: pushed out of my mind.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Is he still alive?
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: No, he has passed away. But I think I just,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: it's one of those things where like, he's so hurt
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: her that I, like, as far as I was concerned,
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: he didn't exist.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: But yeah, she started going through credit card bills.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Oopsie.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: But men are stupid.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: And it just happens to everybody.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: You're like, men are.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: And it surpasses like, you know, it has nothing to
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: do with you as a partner, as a wife, as,
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Your beauty as your wit, as your ability in the sack.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: It has nothing to do with any of that. It's
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: all about their ego and having the attention of someone else.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: To make yourself feel better.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: They're so basic. I know.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Oh, what did you do with your mom's organized collection
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: of jokes? She remembers that she had them in the
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: old-fashioned library card file.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: It is in storage in a perfectly hermetically temperature-controlled, moisture-controlled
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: at one of those places that does all that for
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: archival material until I know what I'm going to do
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: with it eventually.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool. Yeah.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Everyone's like, don't you want it in your house? I'm like,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: that would be creepy.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Are the furs there?
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Most of the furs have been distributed and given away. Okay.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: I do remember her joke about wearing furs. Yes.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: She's giving it a better life than it ever had.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: It's going places. It's going to the theater.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: It's going to the nicest restaurants.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: What, it was going to have that good of a life?
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Look where I'm taking it.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: Oh, there's a clip that is really great that she,
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: maybe it's from the documentary, where she's about to go
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: on stage and somebody is reading this long list like,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: if you're easily offended, if you're this or this or that,
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: and then she just takes the mic and she's like,
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: shut up and take a joke or take a whatever.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: And I actually really was like, ooh, that, I might
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: want to steal that because it's like, literally if you
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: went down your hour and a half of set material,
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: you're like, okay, yeah, these are the subjects I'm going
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: to do. So if you're easily offended by this, that, like,
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: that is really, was very.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Funny and great before its time. Yeah, there's a great
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: thing where, do you remember, I mean, this is years ago,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Some promoter or someone who– charity that had hired Snoop
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Dogg to perform and then they were really offended by that.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: And he came out and said, you hire Snoop Dogg,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: you get Snoop Dogg.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: It's the same thing. What do you think you're going
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: to get?
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: I have such an issue when I've been hired for
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: things or whatever. Now I'm at the place where like
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: it doesn't matter. I don't need the money for the
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: gig to stress me out. But I have a thing
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: because I do– consider myself like a classy person who's like...
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: You're edgy.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Your act is edgy.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: But I still see myself as like, I went to
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Catholic school and I respect people who are religious and
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: like that. So then when I'd find myself in a
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: position where someone would see a little bit of my
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: act and think, oh, she's this mom that talks about
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: her boys and her husband. But then my act had
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: become way more edgy, which I really enjoyed more. But
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: I do tell young comics, don't start edgy. Edgy is like...
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Start a little cleaner just because it's harder to do
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: and you'll go further if you don't rely on the
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: dirt right off the top.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: But that worked for you because you had stuff to
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: talk about.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Right. Yeah. Right. Right. The other people are dirty right
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: away because it's just like, oh, I fucked this guy. Right.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Because that's what they're doing. But that's what they're doing.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: That's their reality. Your reality, like my mother's, was much
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: more traditional.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And then, but it's just so freeing just
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: to talk about whatever you want to talk about. Now
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: I'm just like, yeah, if this is any kind of like,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: I can't say a bad word or it has to
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: be PG or anything. I'm like, that is just too
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: stressful for me to like try to work out or
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: rewrite a whole new act for an hour. Like just
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: forget it.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Forget it.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: But yeah.
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: Forget it.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: But I can relate to that.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: But yeah, it's like people don't realize how hard it
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: is to get 50 strong minutes. Yeah. Let alone an
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: hour and a half. Right. People know how hard it
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: is to get six strong minutes.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: And it's so funny because lately there's just been all
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: these reality stars and whatnot that are like, oh, I'm
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: going to do stand-up now. I'm doing stand-up now. So
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: I'm bringing it up. And the latest one was, speaking
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: of the Kardashians, Blac Chyna is suing the Kardashians.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I was reading that this morning.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: And– Tokyo Tony is the mother. Yes. She hates them.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: And she got thrown out of the courtroom.
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: And so she is like, she says, she goes, oh,
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: come on. So she's threatened. She's like, I'm going to
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: get that judge or whatever on her Instagram live. And
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: so then they said, okay, you can no longer be
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: in the courtroom. And she's like, I'm a comedian. That's
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: my comedy. And I'm like, what?
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: By the way, and also, why do they all want
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: to have a cabaret act? I know.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Sonia is doing that. Sonia in the City is cabaret
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: and comedy. And then, of course, Luann is done the cabaret.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: But I'm just like, people don't understand how long it
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: takes to get to those places. Like, it's not easy.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: And I was always amazed, like, when people would be
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: thinking and when people were always constantly, they would always
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: put someone else on the red carpet to go up
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: against me and my mom or another. People don't get
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: how hard it is. And how many years it takes
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: to learn how to interview someone well.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Speaking of the red carpet, let's talk a little bit
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: about that and the Oscars, okay? And definitely when you
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: guys were doing it. And it was a very exciting
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: time for an awards show. And a part of it,
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: and I've said this before, is because we didn't have Instagram.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: So we didn't know what our favorite person, what five
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: dresses they were deciding between. We didn't get to see
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: them all the time. It was a real treat to
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: see that Julia Roberts walked down. Same thing. JLo's in
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: my fucking TikTok selling her glow. It's not a big
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: deal for me to now see JLo on the red carpet.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Because you saw what she was wearing an hour ago.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but 10 years ago, like, ooh, this is a treat.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: You couldn't wait to see what they popped out of
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: the car in.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Because remember, it was all big secrets.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Right, exactly.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: And people weren't being paid to wear specific designers.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: Right. Would they still always get borrowed jewels and stuff?
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. Because who's going to afford those?
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: I know. But I don't think I even knew that, though. Yeah.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: As the kid at home, I was like, oh, this
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Cartier necklace that you're so rich to be able to
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: afford that. Like, I didn't really– it was just– it's
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: now it's like– you know, it's like that show Magic Revealed.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: It was a show that they– Yeah, yeah, yeah. You
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: know how the magicians did all the tricks? And I
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: was like, I wish I didn't know that. Right. But
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: not just now– I want to know everything.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: But now not only is stuff being loaned, there are
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: people who are literally– paid to wear things. Right. So.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Which you can't blame either party for that, you know, like.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: No, you can't.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: But with, and doing that, and that is such a
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: hard job. You're in this tight dress, you're wearing heels,
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: it's hot, your hair is heavy, it's uncomfortable. Yeah, people
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: do not know how hard a red carpet thing, I've
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: only done it a few times and I didn't love it.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: And when it's live and it's happening so fast and
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: you have to be listening to your IFB in the
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: truck in one ear and then trying to focus on
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: the interview and staying present in that.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: And trying to not make it obvious that you're looking
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: over the shoulder to see who's coming and hope that
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: your producer at least hands you your card fast enough
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: on whoever's coming that you can at least do that
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: and glance down.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: And it was the last couple award ceremonies, which I've
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: been completely uninterested in. I'm like, if all of a
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: sudden someone asked me to do something, I'd be like,
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: I need to go away somewhere and watch all these
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: movies because I don't even know any of the nominations.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: I mean, at least back then you kind of, you
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: wanted to see everything and you were like up on it.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: And if you didn't, you'd probably go see it, you know?
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: But also when they suddenly expanded it to 10 nominees,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: I was like, like I had all this anxiety come back. Like, no,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: I can barely retain just the few that I need to.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Right. Yeah. And so what do you think would have
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: been her opinion about the slap of Will Smith hitting
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Chris Rock in that moment and how it was handled
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: and all of that?
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: She would have said, thank you for my new house.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: Because she would have just had so much material. Yes.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: I said that too. I did two, I did a
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: solid two shows on it right after. And one of
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: the clips that we put together, I think is that
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: 8 million views. And I'm like, you know, yeah, thank you. Exactly.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: It was great material. But I also feel like if anything,
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: it was kind of a great moment for the pendulum,
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: I believe, to start swinging back. Because I feel like
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: the majority of Americans felt This has gone too far.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: We are affecting not only free speech, but the ability
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: of a stand-up comic to say whatever the fuck they want.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: We want to keep that. And so I feel like
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: that was.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: And what he said wasn't bad, and I have a
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: lot of opinion on this. First of all, to take
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: a victory lap and go to all those parties.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Right, afterwards, yeah. was No regard for what had happened. No. Yeah.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: And the certain... members of his family putting out tweets
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: that you're just like, Oh God. And then also, and
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: this kind of hit me later and I'm always been
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: a fan of Jada's work. And I think red table
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: talk is so fun. I know it's serious or whatever.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: That people were coming out and saying, Chris rock should
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: have known the ego of saying, Chris rock should have
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: a working knowledge of, Jada's medical conditions that she talks
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: about on Red Table Talk, I can put on a Facebook,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: which is a Facebook show. Yeah, I can guarantee you
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: Chris has never watched an episode.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Chris is not reading. But here's the thing.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: I follow all the shit and I didn't know. Right.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: So like if I didn't know, of course, Chris Rock
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: didn't know.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: And by the way, the joke wasn't bad. And she
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: looks gorgeous. And two weeks before she'd come out and said,
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: I don't care what anybody says about my hair. I'm
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: embracing it. So it's like you kind of can't have
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: it every single way. And what I also find fascinating
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: is that the Williams sisters are silent. And I don't
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: think it's For the reason of that they're being supportive,
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: I think. And then he got up and disparaged their father.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: And when he called himself like crazy Richard or something
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: in the middle of his speech.
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: Oh, interesting. Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: He's acting like Richard.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Oh, sometimes when there's love, you act crazy.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: Like I did, like the part I played. Oh, I
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: never thought of it like that. Yeah.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: Not flattering.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: So basically, you just called their father crazy.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: Right. So, I mean.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: How do they process that?
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: Probably exactly what you said, just stay silent.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: And that's the right thing to do.
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: But I can't imagine that they were happy about any
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: of it. And here goes this night where your picture
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: has been nominated. I know, that was just, ugh. No
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: one's talking about how it ruined their night.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: Which I feel bad about.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. I didn't think about, yeah. And the
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: one girl, her nip was out.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's why they put the title, the graphic up.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Because I guess poor Venus was so upset she came
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: flying out of her dress.
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: Well, it was a pretty challenging, it was one of
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: those dresses that, and I love, I love fashion police.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: I love looking at the fashions and discussing it, you know,
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: even now. But it was one of those dresses that's
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: this like new thing where it's like really big cleavage
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: where probably looked great standing up. But you're sitting for
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: three hours and it's like, it's popping out, you know?
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: But not just that, I don't think, You should be
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: uncomfortable or worried looking at someone's dress.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: And there were a bunch of dresses that you're like,
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: this dress, looking at this dress is giving me anxiety.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: Because you're just like, oh, dear God, it's about to happen.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: It's about to happen. I hope she doesn't have to.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: I mean, I just find that means it's too low
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: cut or too this or too that if viewers are
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: getting anxious about it. Right. Good rule of thumb. Don't
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: make other people anxious about your clothing.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: And also, like, speaking of, like, these moments... I always
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: just think of like Kate Hudson was nominated once for
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: an Oscar. What was the one? I was going to
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: say I'm with the band, but that's not what I'm
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: talking about.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: Famous. Almost famous.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: Almost famous because it was Cameron Crowe. I was going
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: for the Cameron Crowe movie. She's so beautiful. And she
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: just made a horrible choice that night.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: And I just remember it was like a chandelier thing
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: and shoulder pads and hair up and curly and When
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: she had like such a good body and could have
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: worn like just a fabulous dress. And I'm always like, God,
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: you know, the process that goes into saying this, it's
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: like your wedding dress. Like I better, I don't want
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: to hate this look in 20 years. So I really
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: got to think about it. And that's always like a
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: fun thing to analyze when you guys would do like
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: Fashion Police.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Because, by the way, no one walks out
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: of their house thinking they look awful.
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: You got to always remember that. But you also say
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: we've all made mistakes.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: And we're not saying you're a bad person.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: We're not saying that you're, you know, killing puppies. We're
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: saying we didn't like one dress you wore. By the way,
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: that you also got for free. Yeah. That's worth probably $ 15, 000
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: and was one of 10 you got to pick from
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: and wear during awards season. We all need to take
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: a deep breath. And you're making $ 20 million a picture.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Breathe.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: But I also think, like, what was fun about Fashion
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: Police and a panel is because people did start making
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: less mistakes. Like, you know, Cher would wear a weird
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: thing with the feathers or Bork would wear the ostrich. Like,
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: those days are kind of over and people are pretty
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: much looking good. But what was kind of good is
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: you could still say, I like this because or, hey—
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: You know what? It's just not my favorite look for
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: this reason. And it wouldn't be so, like, hideous. It
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: just could be a discussion of, like, I've been saying
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: lately there's been stuff going on, and I featured on
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: the show, that is so horrific that's happening in fashion
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: right now. Three things. One is the under tit, where
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: everyone's showing just the bottom of the boobs.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: But that's a retread. Remember?
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: No.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: When was that ever in? That was, like, ten years ago.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: Go back and look. It was all the under boob. Okay,
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: I don't remember from 10 years ago.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: Was the fupa ever featured?
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: No, but the very low jeans with the G-string hanging out. True.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: And the predecessor of fupa was the camel toe. Why
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: is this shit all in my head? And you wonder
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: why there's days I can't remember my own name. But
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: I can discuss the fact that, yes, we have seen
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: underboob before.
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: Okay. I mean, I thought.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: I'm still for a side tit. I still like a
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: side tit.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: But you can because you also know how to tape
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: yourself in.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: Still, I think it's sort of sexy look.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: But when you're working on a red carpet, there are
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: plenty of times I had to be real careful.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: Because when you're leaning forward with your mic, you might
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: be giving the viewers a little bit something extra.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: What would be your secret, like, thing to just really
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: look good? You have, like, five days before the event.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: You want to make sure that tummy's flat. Do you
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: have any secrets like that that someone could use for, like,
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: you know, an upcoming event?
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Spanx. You can starve yourself. You can do this. Make
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: sure you, you know, I always heard about stories about people, like,
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: dehydrating themselves.
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Right. And then, yeah.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: But, I mean, that's awful.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: You watch what you eat, but you also, because you
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: want to look healthy and you want your skin to
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: look good. And generally when it was the Golden Globes,
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: we'd all eaten like crazy people over the holidays. So
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: suddenly January 1st hit and we're back on the treadmill.
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: And it, you know, and then, I mean, I know
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: people who would buy Spanx a size too small.
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: It's so uncomfortable.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: I had to wear Spanx the other night for the
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: first time in two and a half years. And I
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: was like.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: Have you tried Skims?
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: I have.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Do they suck you in? I feel like they don't.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: But the Skims bras.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: Are great.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: That I have discovered.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: They seem like they're like a nice like material. Yeah.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: But I'm like I don't feel like they'll suck you
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: in like a. Like a Spanx that really snatches your waist. Yeah.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: No, you got to go OG.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: But I will say the Skims t-shirt bras, I'm in
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: love with.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: Hint, hint. Please send me. Yeah, let's do it.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: I don't mind. Have you ever tried to reach out
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: to Joan through a medium? We had talked about this.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: Have you changed your mind?
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: No. No. I hear her voice enough without needing help.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Yeah. You hear her opinion about things before. I hear it.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: Whether I want to or not. And I'm too anxious
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: because I know I would only hear it.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: Have you ever been in a party with a medium
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: who goes, I just have to tell you that Joan
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: is here? And what do they say?
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: I don't even remember. Half the time it just goes,
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: and she's so this and she's so that and she
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: loves Cooper and she's in a good place. I'm like, oh,
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: thank you.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: And you're like, yeah, that's what I thought. Thank you.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: I appreciate that. I did have someone once... Oh, God,
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: this is such a terrible story. Who was married to
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: someone else in our world. Come up to me. Okay,
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: I just want to be careful.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: They came up to me the night before, the day
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: of the funeral, saying that the night before my mother
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: had come to them.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Out of all the people to come to.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Exactly. And I'm like having to stand there and feel
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: like gracious. Because I was raised too well to just
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: not turn to them and say, not now. Or which
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: I was really thinking is, she would not come to you.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: She would not come to you. And I was just like,
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: she's like, yeah, she came to me. And this is
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: what she's thinking. And this is what she's like. And
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: I'm like, we're getting in the car to leave for
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: the funeral. Like, this is not. I know you think
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: you're making me feel better.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: But like in the words of every real housewife. Shut up.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: It's not about you. Yeah. It's not about you. I
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: don't have time for this. I do not have time
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: for you.
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: You know what I mean? This moment is not about you.
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: Yes. And it's like, that is so funny because imagine
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: all the famous people that, you know, went to Joan's
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: funeral and everybody wants to believe that it's about them.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: And like, that is actually really funny that you're like
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: at your brother's funeral. People are like, hi, um, Yeah.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: And she wants me to tell you.
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: Oh, my God. That is so funny.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: You have no idea. There are so many great stories
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: about the funeral, about people being upset that their name
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: had to be on a list because we said.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: Because of security.
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: Everybody needs. How dare you ask me to put my
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: name on a list? Then don't fucking come. I do
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: not have time. It's not about you. I do not
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: have time for this. You know what I mean?
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: That is, yeah. And I remember that, you know, there
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: was a moment where she talked about her funeral and
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: the kind of funeral that she wanted. So it is
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: nice that you knew what someone wanted.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: Some people don't know. What's shocking is how much bad
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: behavior there is at funerals.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Like real bad behavior that you find out afterwards. And
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: for me anyway, I was like, God, I wish I
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: had seen that. Or gosh, I wish I would have
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: been able to watch that happen. But obviously I didn't.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: But yeah, my favorite was. It came to me last night.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Get in the fucking car. I don't have time to
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: discuss this with you.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: Did the actors or the writers... of Miss Maisel ever
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: reach out to you?
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: Rachel Brosnahan has.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Oh, that's awesome.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: And she's lovely and talented and wonderful. And I'm excited
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: that I get to say I'm a fan of hers.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Good.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: And we'll just leave it at that.
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: Yes. What does she think? Oh, wait, hold on.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: She being me.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: No, wait, hold on. No, I'm finding a buddy. Okay.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Now we've talked, I have, I'm friends with a lot
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: of comedians and I went on a trip to Cabo
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: and we invited Josh flag and he was like the
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: ninth wheel cause everyone else was a couple. And Chris
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: Frangelo brings us up all the time that we were
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: on a boat and he was drunk and he was
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: literally talking to you on the phone when the phone
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: went overboard and And so Chris will be like, is
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: Melissa Rivers still at the bottom of that ocean?
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: No, I'm here. But we have had some fun moments
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: with Josh.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: Well, I want to know, what does he say to
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: you when you answer the phone? You go, hello.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: He'll be like, he usually goes like, hi, Pumpkin, or hi, Sweetie.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: Oh, my God, that's the same name I get.
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: Hi, Pumpkin. Yeah, yeah. It's always like, eat sweet.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: But I always wondered if I was the only one
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: who was Pumpkin. No, he obviously says it to you too.
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: Yes, but I kind of do that too. But it's
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: definitely like, yeah, he's got a sweetness about him.
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: But I just think it's funny that we all– I
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: always enter the phone and go, yes, dear.
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, so what did you think when you heard
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: they broke up?
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: That was really sad.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: I think we called each other.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: We did.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: We did.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: I think first I sent– I went text like, oh,
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: my God, did you hear? And you're like, yes, I
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: heard that. two weeks ago or something. I'm like, I'm like,
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: he didn't say anything to me. And I found out
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: in a very random way. Yeah. And he had forgotten
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: that he hadn't told me. Oh, he had forgotten what
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: he hadn't told me. Cause he was asking me about,
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: someone was asking him in the press and what should
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: he say and how should he handle it? I'm like,
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: I don't know what you're talking about. He goes, oh,
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: I forgot to tell you.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: Well, the way he told me is that he called
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: me up And said, I'm on my way to Santa
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: Barbara and I want to get a Bloody Mary. And
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: I figured you would know some place along the way.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: And I'm like, where are you? And he's like, oh,
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: I'm at Topanga in Woodland Hills on the 101. I go, okay,
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: so go to the Four Seasons in Westlake.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: Stop there and get your Bloody Mary. That should hold
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: you over, God forbid, you go an hour and a half.
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: Without a cocktail.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: Yeah, wouldn't want to do that.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: And that's when he's like, do you want some Juicy Scope?
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: And I'm like, what is it?
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: He actually forgot that he hadn't told me.
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: And then he called me. He was in Bora Bora.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: And he was like, hi, pumpkin.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: I'm like, where are you?
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: He's like, Bora Bora. I'm like, what are you doing
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: in Bora Bora? And he's like, oh, yeah, I needed
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: to get away. I'm like, why? And he's like, oh, yeah,
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: I forgot to tell you. I know. And by the way,
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: God forbid we forget to tell him something.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: Right. Yeah.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: Then it's like a whole other... Right. But he's a love.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: People don't get how... Also how funny he is.
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Yes. He's so funny and I just thoroughly enjoy him and.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: But he's like a 70-year-old.
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: No, he is. I'm like he identifies as an 80-year-old
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: Jewish woman. Yeah.
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: And that's accurate.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: And so sometimes when he says inappropriate stuff, I'm like
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: I would forgive Joan Rivers and I will forgive you.
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Because you're not a 35-year-old gay man living in L.A.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: No. You're not.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: He's a Beverly Hills matron.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: You know what I mean? He is a Beverly Hills matron.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: So funny. Let me see if I have anything else
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: I want to say. Yeah. Oh, do you have any
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: relationship with Kathy Griffin?
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: No, I definitely– I did post about her when she
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: was sick and just said something sweet like, you know,
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: you can do this or whatever. And I never heard. Oh.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Which is fine.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Which is fine. I mean, I don't know if
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: you want to speak on that. I don't really understand
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: whatever happened. That was just kind of a bizarre thing.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: It was just a really bad situation.
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Nobody was clear. Like I have said repeatedly, we went
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: back too fast. We made too many decisions that fast.
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: To fashion police.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: We basically got remarried without thinking the whole thing through.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: And sometimes when you marry into a family, you think
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: it's going to be great and it doesn't work out
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: so well. And that's the easiest analogy. No harm, no foul. Right.
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: We went back way too fast.
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: Do you think that there is a place in society
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: to have another fashion police?
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Yes, it would have to be vastly different. Because if
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: you tried to do it in the old format, you
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: would spend the whole time qualifying everything. And that's not fun. So,
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: I'm not sure I like this dress, but I do
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: think that this woman is incredibly beautiful, incredibly talented, so
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: body positive. And usually I really, did you know that
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: she works for, you know, Pet Rescue and she's just
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: a wonderful human being. Not sure.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: If the color works for me.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: If the color works for me. But that's not saying
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: that the designer isn't a genius.
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: Right. And that is not entertaining or funny.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: And the designer's a genius. Now, sometimes they make some mistakes,
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: but that's because they're a human and they're a good human.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: It's just like. Like, how do you make a show
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: out of that?
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: Yeah, no.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: And you're clearly full of shit.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: Better not to do it and stay kind of honest.
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: Than try and shove, what is it, a square peg
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: into a round hole. And we're living in a round
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: hole right now. And Fashion Police is a square peg.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: Did you keep some of her clothes, I assume? Some
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: of her best outfits and stuff? I have.
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: Sold a bunch for different charities. I do keep some
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: really good pieces. So when charities ask me for something
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: for an auction.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: I can donate something great.
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: Depending upon the charity, obviously. People always ask me what
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: I've kept for myself. Basically her two crappy travel sweaters.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: You know, because that's what I think of.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: And I have some of her perfume and I'll spritz
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: the perfume on it. So when I open that part
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: of my closet, it still smells like her.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: Oh, that's so cute.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: Like the other day I was really sad and tired
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: and all this. And I just put on one of
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: her old cardigan tattered travel sweater.
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: And you just feel better.
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: That's great. Yeah. I love that. Thank you so much
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: for coming out. Lies. My mother told me it's by
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: Melissa Rivers and it's a lot of fun. It's a
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: work of, nonfiction fiction, which I love.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: It's a new genre. Right.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: It's like stories about your life and then just like
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: goes funny tangents. That's very Joan Rivers. And I, I
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: love it. I like never get enough.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: I think, I feel like I've made a new genre.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: Think of me as the female Truman Capote coming up
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: with a new, with a new genre of, I like it.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: Of nonfiction fiction for sure.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: Yeah. And then all the quotes on the back are
