Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Training Camp Cast. The Patriots Training

Speaker 1: Camp Cast is your source for all the news from
• 0:13
Speaker 1: Patriots Training Camp. Well, I do still watch the news.
• 0:17
Speaker 1: Practice is over, but the writers of Patriots dot com
• 0:19
Speaker 1: have you covered? Miss Yes? Now here to review today's practice.
• 0:23
Speaker 1: The writers of Patriots dot com all right, Day two
• 0:27
Speaker 1: Patriots Training Camp twenty twenty two is in the books.
• 0:31
Speaker 1: I might do so. Joined by Paul Pirello Patriots dot Com,
• 0:34
Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered, and we are here today to brief you
• 0:37
Speaker 1: guys quickly on what transpired here at Thursday's practice. Another
• 0:41
Speaker 1: spirited session that ended again with the defense having some
• 0:46
Speaker 1: pushups to do. Paul, However, it felt like the defense
• 0:48
Speaker 1: kind of bounced back today after the offense made some
• 0:51
Speaker 1: big plays yesterday. Yeah, I would agree. I think the
• 0:53
Speaker 1: defense brought some of the energy today that I think
• 0:55
Speaker 1: we saw the wide receivers provide. And you know Layton practice,
• 1:00
Speaker 1: they sort of had a little red zone work and
• 1:02
Speaker 1: really tight coverage. Jalen Mills with a good play. Josh
• 1:05
Speaker 1: Bledso is a guy that I'm going to keep my
• 1:07
Speaker 1: eye on because he seems to show up. This is
• 1:09
Speaker 1: the second day that I've seen him really involved in
• 1:12
Speaker 1: some of the things, so a little bit less production,
• 1:15
Speaker 1: but still saw an unbelievable catch by DeVante Parker in
• 1:19
Speaker 1: the corner of the end zone earlier in practice. Yeah,
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Parker continuing to make catches that one side of the
• 1:25
Speaker 1: end zone. Nice throw by Mac Jones on the outside
• 1:27
Speaker 1: Parker turn and was able to gather it. Certainly, Parkers
• 1:30
Speaker 1: has stood out here today and through the first two
• 1:33
Speaker 1: days of practice, certainly coming in as advertising has advertised,
• 1:37
Speaker 1: with contested catches. However, otherwise the offense slowed down a
• 1:41
Speaker 1: little bit. It seemed, you know, a couple throws from
• 1:43
Speaker 1: Mac a little bit off. I know he missed Kendrick
• 1:45
Speaker 1: Bourne in the back of the end zone once. But
• 1:48
Speaker 1: defense was competitive. You mentioned Bledsoe with some past breakups
• 1:51
Speaker 1: as well, but overall offense not quite as sharp today, Paul.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: Do you think that that's just, you know, kind of
• 1:58
Speaker 1: how it goes with training camp here, and you know,
• 2:00
Speaker 1: do you think probably tomorrow they'll they'll be looking to
• 2:02
Speaker 1: be the ones that bounced back. Yeah, And I did
• 2:05
Speaker 1: think it was interesting to see, um, you know, like
• 2:08
Speaker 1: I thought Devin mccordy at times was sort of gesturing
• 2:10
Speaker 1: over toward the offense flexing his muscles, doing some of
• 2:13
Speaker 1: the things that we saw from Parker and Born on
• 2:16
Speaker 1: day one, and it was almost like the saying, you know,
• 2:19
Speaker 1: we can you know, we can fake the enthusiasm two
• 2:21
Speaker 1: guys if you want to really make a big deal
• 2:23
Speaker 1: of it, you know when we make a play. So
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: I do think there's been a healthy a little back
• 2:28
Speaker 1: and forth there with the offense and defense. Yeah, I
• 2:30
Speaker 1: don't think there's anything necessarily to be concerned about. Offensively,
• 2:34
Speaker 1: it wasn't like they couldn't get the plays off and
• 2:36
Speaker 1: looked like lost out there. I think the defense maybe
• 2:40
Speaker 1: ratcheted up the intensity a little bit from the start today.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: Just a couple of new new names and faces that
• 2:45
Speaker 1: have been standing out to me a little bit. You mentioned, uh,
• 2:47
Speaker 1: you know, Josh Bledsoe, who certainly has been you know,
• 2:50
Speaker 1: kind of surprisingly involved but maybe not as much of
• 2:53
Speaker 1: a surprise, but noticed ray Kwon McMillan added last year
• 2:57
Speaker 1: was injured, didn't play as well as Terrence Mitchell. Two
• 3:00
Speaker 1: that seem to be really in the mix to replace
• 3:03
Speaker 1: some of those you know, linebackers that left jay Z
• 3:05
Speaker 1: Jackson left. Those two guys seem like maybe the biggest
• 3:08
Speaker 1: candidates to take over some sizeable roles on the defense. Yeah,
• 3:10
Speaker 1: we've seen a lot of Mitchell and uh, you know,
• 3:12
Speaker 1: a little bit less of Malcolm Butler. So you wonder
• 3:15
Speaker 1: if maybe that's a sign or these things can change.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: You know, it's it's a couple of days of this,
• 3:19
Speaker 1: a couple of days of that, and then they'll figure
• 3:21
Speaker 1: it out by the time, you know, you get to
• 3:23
Speaker 1: the start of the preseason and beyond. But I do
• 3:26
Speaker 1: think Jalen Mills looks I mean, you know, during the
• 3:31
Speaker 1: show when we did the show, someone asked, who do
• 3:33
Speaker 1: we think will be the number one corner? Well, they
• 3:35
Speaker 1: don't really have a guy that I think would be
• 3:36
Speaker 1: just you know, we're gonna match him up against the
• 3:38
Speaker 1: other team's best player. But I think, without question, Jalen
• 3:42
Speaker 1: Mills is the top corner on this team. I know
• 3:44
Speaker 1: he will play somewhere if healthy. I'm not as sure
• 3:47
Speaker 1: about the other spots, but it looks like Terrence Mitchell
• 3:50
Speaker 1: right now has the leg up to at least start there. Well. Overall,
• 3:53
Speaker 1: similar session today as what we saw yesterday. Some some
• 3:56
Speaker 1: group periods, a couple of team periods. They ended off
• 3:59
Speaker 1: with some eleven on eleven. Of course, the offense, you know,
• 4:01
Speaker 1: wasn't really able to stick the ball in the end
• 4:03
Speaker 1: zone there in those competitive eleven on eleven portion as
• 4:06
Speaker 1: you mentioned McCardy john a little bit with Damian Harris
• 4:09
Speaker 1: coming down to the last play, Mac was able to
• 4:11
Speaker 1: dump it off to Hunter Henry to get the touchdown.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: Defense unfortunately had to do some push ups again. So
• 4:16
Speaker 1: I'm sure that'll be on their mind again. Anybody else, pauled,
• 4:20
Speaker 1: you know in your mind that that has, you know,
• 4:22
Speaker 1: maybe surprised you in the last couple of days or
• 4:24
  Speaker 1: stood out overall. I mean, I know it's it's it's
• 4:26
Speaker 1: limited work right now and we're trying to take it
• 4:29
Speaker 1: all in. But was there anyone else that that you
• 4:31
Speaker 1: think was standing out a little bit? You know, not really,
• 4:35
Speaker 1: I am, you know, sort of watching some of the
• 4:38
Speaker 1: young guys and seeing where they're fitting in and where
• 4:40
Speaker 1: their roles are. And Tykwon Thornton continues to do some
• 4:44
Speaker 1: of the work with the regular quote unquote starters, so
• 4:47
Speaker 1: he was on you know, when they was separated today
• 4:49
Speaker 1: he was over with a Galore and borne in Parker
• 4:53
Speaker 1: in that group with Myers, whereas you know, the Trey
• 4:57
Speaker 1: Nixon's Christian Wilkerson's of the world or on the other
• 4:59
Speaker 1: side work and with Bailey Zappy. So I think that's
• 5:01
  Speaker 1: I mean, obviously Thornton's not going anywhere, so it's a
• 5:04
Speaker 1: matter of how much do you get out of him
• 5:05
Speaker 1: in year one. But I think it's a good sign
• 5:08
Speaker 1: for him. You know where he's been in the first
• 5:10
Speaker 1: couple of days. All right, well, let's seem like another
• 5:12
Speaker 1: productive day of practice. We will of course be back
• 5:14
Speaker 1: with you guys Friday and Saturday. You can tune in
• 5:17
