- 0:15Speaker 2: Hit me up at Billy on the radio on Instagram
- 0:17Speaker 2: at Billy on the radio. That's probably the easiest, whatever
- 0:19Speaker 2: that secret may be.
- 0:21Speaker 3: And you got one.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:22Speaker 1: And I already, I already know how it's going to sound.
- 0:25Speaker 4: I'm going to sound like a horrible person when I
- 0:27Speaker 4: say it, but I have two kids and one of
- 0:31Speaker 4: them is great.
- 0:32Speaker 1: She's amazing. Does everything like is, is a, got a
- 0:36Speaker 1: great job. It's driven. She's like a responsible, great human being.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:42Speaker 4: But my son is, for lack of a better word, like,
- 0:46Speaker 4: my son's kind of a loser. Hold on.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Hold on, Dad.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You can't do him like that.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I don't know why I didn't expect that.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I didn't do him like that. He did himself like that.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I know, but wait.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Why do you say that?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you mean.
- 1:00Speaker 3: He's a loser?
- 1:03Speaker 4: So, OK, so like we've raised them the same in
- 1:07Speaker 4: the same house with same values and work ethic. And
- 1:10Speaker 4: my daughter did all that. But my son, like he
- 1:12Speaker 4: dropped out of college. He's just right now he's living.
- 1:16Speaker 4: He's still at home with us now. Oh, like he
- 1:19Speaker 4: just stays in his room and plays video games most
- 1:21Speaker 4: of the time.
- 1:22Speaker 1: He doesn't have a job. Maybe goes out with his friends.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like he's like he's living
- 1:28Speaker 1: a loser lifestyle.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Okay, so he's going through a phase right now. How
- 1:35Speaker 2: old did you say he was? He was 19?
- 1:36Speaker 1: 19.
- 1:36Speaker 4: And that's what my wife says. He's going through a phase. No, see,
- 1:41Speaker 4: that sounds like what my wife says. I feel like
- 1:45Speaker 4: that's the problem, is that like... He's not being forced.
- 1:50Speaker 4: And every time I try to, my wife is like.
- 1:53Speaker 1: No, no, he's, he's, he's mental health. He's going through
- 1:56Speaker 1: a phase. He needs to, you need to be easy
- 1:59Speaker 1: on him.
- 1:59Speaker 4: And I'm like, well, at what point will he have
- 2:01Speaker 4: to take responsibility? Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 5: I'm hearing this a lot though, that a lot of
- 2:05Speaker 5: people this age, yeah, are struggling mentally.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Things are harder than they realize or they weren't prepared.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I mean, they, But I'm trying to look back, and
- 2:13Speaker 2: I mean, things weren't easy for me when I was 19.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I mean, we didn't have it easy. It was tough
- 2:18Speaker 2: back then, too. I think every generation faces its challenges.
- 2:21Speaker 1: For sure.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I was out the house at 17. I left.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, you were in jail.
- 2:25Speaker 3: No, not then. Oh, never mind.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Okay, so, but this is obviously causing friction between you
- 2:32Speaker 2: and your son, but it sounds like it might be
- 2:35Speaker 2: causing some friction between you and your wife yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Well i mean she babies him like i'm trying my
- 2:40Speaker 6: best to like be a good dad and and be
- 2:44Speaker 6: responsible and teach them life lessons and help them grow
- 2:47Speaker 6: to be adults that you know can function in society
- 2:51Speaker 6: but my wife is like she babies them you know
- 2:53Speaker 6: he needs time uh to grow you know like in
- 2:57Speaker 6: fact and.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Say how much time does he need Right. How many
- 2:59Speaker 1: times do you need to figure this out?
- 3:01Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 3:02Speaker 5: Yeah, but a lot of people think, oh, my kid
- 3:04Speaker 5: turned 18.
- 3:04Speaker 3: They're ready.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Their brains aren't fully developed. We just push them out like, hey,
- 3:07Speaker 5: you're 18 now.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Bye.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but how old are they?
- 3:10Speaker 1: I'm not trying to push them out.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but you got to do something.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I'm not trying to push them out.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you can't let them not be motivated.
- 3:15Speaker 3: But here's the deal. 19 turns into 21, then turns
- 3:18Speaker 3: into 30. Right. If you keep babying them.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It can.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I see what this guy is going through.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Like Enzo, your son, Candace, I have a feeling like
- 3:26Speaker 2: obviously he's going to be a successful kid.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Of course.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But if he wasn't, you're going to be like, baby,
- 3:32Speaker 2: come here. Mommy's got you.
- 3:33Speaker 5: I'm always going to have his back, but I'm going
- 3:35Speaker 5: to push him to be motivated and try to help
- 3:38Speaker 5: him through whatever he's going through so that he can
- 3:40Speaker 5: be self-motivated.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And I believe that.
- 3:42Speaker 2: But I think that sometimes people do that differently. And
- 3:44Speaker 2: I think, you know, you're like you got to do something.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And obviously you and wife, you're not on the same page.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I have a feeling you were probably raised way differently.
- 3:52Speaker 1: My dad would have kicked me out of the house
- 3:54Speaker 1: if I was doing this kind of stuff.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I would have hated him for it, but I would
- 3:57Speaker 4: have also figured it out.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And I would have eventually understood that. Oh, right.
- 4:03Speaker 4: I was messing up. I was the one that was
- 4:05Speaker 4: being lazy. Like I would have figured that part out.
- 4:08Speaker 4: And I feel like my wife won't let him like
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm literally I'm really close to being like, hey, he
- 4:13Speaker 4: gets a job and contributes or he's got to go.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I think he does need to be in
- 4:17Speaker 5: the workplace at some level. You can't just sit home
- 4:19Speaker 5: and play video games.
- 4:21Speaker 3: He ain't lying. You wake up and then you go
- 4:22Speaker 3: by his room and all he's doing is in there,
- 4:25Speaker 3: fire mission, talking to everybody online. Yeah, that's not okay. Yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 3: I ain't trying to hear that. My son is only 15,
- 4:30Speaker 3: so I'm not dealing with this yet.
- 4:31Speaker 2: But at the same time, I've had a roommate back
- 4:33Speaker 2: in the day where I was working my butt off.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And grinding and just doing everything I could to hustle.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And I watched this roommate just be lazy and complain.
- 4:43Speaker 2: And I started to build resentment. I was like, I'm
- 4:45Speaker 2: out here doing my thing, hustling and trying to everything
- 4:48Speaker 2: I can. So I don't want to hear it from you.
- 4:50Speaker 2: You're watching people's court all day.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I'm jealous.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 2: But so you and your wife, you're like, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 2: you're at odds right now.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Yes, because she's like, he's going through a lot right now.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, he's not going through a lot
- 5:05Speaker 1: because he's not working. When you work, you go through
- 5:08Speaker 1: a lot. He's not. He's just being at home.
- 5:10Speaker 4: So I feel like that's my like I'm at my limit.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Either he goes or like they can live together. Maybe
- 5:17Speaker 1: I'll go figure something out.
- 5:20Speaker 2: See, ultimatums are weird, though. Like, if you tell her that,
- 5:22Speaker 2: I don't know how, Candace, I don't know how you
- 5:23Speaker 2: would react. Like, to an ultimatum, I don't think you'd
- 5:26Speaker 2: do well with it. No.
- 5:27Speaker 5: I mean, no one does well with ultimatums.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Oh, Eric would be out the house. You and Enzo
- 5:30Speaker 3: would be chilling.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 3: You'd be like, sorry, Eric. Well, here's your bags.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Right.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I'll help you pack. No. That would never happen.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Well, and I know, like you said, if someone is
- 5:43Speaker 2: going through a mental health crisis, then that's different.
- 5:46Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 5:47Speaker 2: This doesn't sound necessarily like a mental health crisis.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I sound like he's lazy.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You don't feel like he really genuinely needs help mentally,
- 5:53Speaker 2: do you?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Or maybe you do.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I do. I understand mental health. I don't know. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: don't think he needs it. But if he did, I
- 5:59Speaker 1: would get it for him. Like I would help. I
- 6:01Speaker 1: would do whatever I needed to to make sure he
- 6:03Speaker 1: got the help.
- 6:03Speaker 4: That he needed if he really needs the help.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I just don't know if that's exactly what's going on.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Well, you have to find out.
- 6:09Speaker 2: It might be.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Maybe he's hiding it from you.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But you also know your kids. I hope so.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Well, some people do. I feel like I can look
- 6:16Speaker 2: at my son if he's lying to me, and I
- 6:17Speaker 2: know he's lying. And I know if I feel like
- 6:19Speaker 2: he's going through something, he doesn't have to say anything
- 6:21Speaker 2: to me. And I know when he's just being lazy. Yeah,
- 6:24Speaker 2: for sure. Well, Dad, good luck, and I hope it
- 6:26Speaker 2: works out. And I'm sure it will. And I think
- 6:30Speaker 2: one day you'll look back at this, and you'll be like, well,
- 6:32Speaker 2: it all figured itself out, but... I know when you're
- 6:34Speaker 2: going through it, it's not easy.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I hope so. I do.
- 6:37Speaker 2: All right.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Well, good luck.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Some kids know what they're doing at 19, and they
- 6:40Speaker 2: have it all figured out, and they're, like, driven, and
- 6:42Speaker 2: some kids aren't.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I knew what I wanted, so I was going for
- 6:46Speaker 2: it right away.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Same. Yeah, same.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I was lucky.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Same. You knew what you were doing, right?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 3: That's why I ended up in the Army. Yeah, that's true.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Well, it all worked out.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Look at you now. You're thriving. You're thriving.
