Latest / Brandon Fogal Evolution / #303 - Tucker's Wrong About AI—Here's What He's Missing
Transcript
- 0:00What are your thoughts on AI? Do you think it is a good thing that AI is about
- 0:04to take over everything?
- 0:06Or do you think we should pump the brakes a little bit?
- 0:09There are many prominent media personalities that are out there.
- 0:13And I go to Tucker Carlson, most notably, who are telling us that AI might not
- 0:19be in the best interest for the regular person.
- 0:21I would have to disagree, but do I have the popular opinion? I don't know.
- 0:28We're going to look at this first of all. This is a commencement address at UCF.
- 0:32This woman brought up AI that it's going to lead us into the future,
- 0:36the next industrial revolution.
- 0:38But the response from the students was not what you might expect.
- 0:43Change is exciting, very exciting. And let's face it, change can be daunting.
- 0:51The rise of artificial intelligence is the next industrial revolution.
- 0:56And then she's getting a lot of boos, a lot of boos, getting called out on the
- 1:01stage. I struck a chord. May I finish?
- 1:04So, yeah. So as we can see, at least kids coming out of college are not too happy about it.
- 1:10Or do the UCF students, do they represent all of the kids? I don't know. I'm not Gen Z.
- 1:16I'm not coming out of college right now. I am excited about AI.
- 1:21I, but I know like the people that have been bringing it up,
- 1:24they're like saying that it's, it's going to destroy jobs. You're not going to have a future.
- 1:29You're not going to have a life because your life is invested in your, your job.
- 1:33You know, that's, that's your purpose. You know, that's all you are.
- 1:37That's all you, that's all you can be.
- 1:40That's how I think, I think, and I, I recently, I just saw the movie,
- 1:44the devil wears Prada this weekend. It came out.
- 1:46I don't know if it came out last, the weekend before or whatever,
- 1:48but I don't want to give anything away.
- 1:51I'm no spoiler alerts, but the whole movie, it seems like it just,
- 1:54this woman is tied to her career.
- 1:57Her career is everything. That's all she finds life in.
- 2:01And if, and she's go, it reminds me of the show, the office,
- 2:04it's just like, they're always worried about downsizing.
- 2:06I'm going to lose my job. And, and that's just like controlling your emotions
- 2:11and what you're doing and like how you're, how you feel about everything.
- 2:15You're, that's the lens you're seeing it through.
- 2:16And I think that that is what I would say that people at the top want to make
- 2:22the lower class, just the, or maybe the middle class, the regular people feel,
- 2:28they want us to feel anxious and like that we're controlled and they have so
- 2:33much power over us as opposed to, let's maybe break free of that.
- 2:37I want to, let's actually take a look at this. This is Tucker Carlson with Kevin
- 2:40O'Leary, Mr. Wonderful.
- 2:42And Tucker had some interesting thoughts on this.
- 2:46Well, it's a great thing. The American dream, if freedom and opportunity is
- 2:48what the American dream is, then, you know, those are things worth dying for.
- 2:51Yeah, I think that's what people are doing.
- 2:53So the question is, is AI going to bring us freedom and opportunity?
- 2:57Because AI is the big bet that the entire American economy is making right now.
- 3:03And I want it to be a good bet. more than anything, but I wonder if it's going
- 3:07to bring us freedom and opportunity. So let's just start with opportunity.
- 3:09The concern that people have is that their jobs and not just their jobs,
- 3:14but their purpose for being alive will be replaced by machines.
- 3:18To which you say, that's not true. Great things will happen.
- 3:20To which I said, okay, what are those great things to which you talked about Shark Tank?
- 3:24So I just want to be a little more specific about what the upside of AI is because
- 3:28then everyone will calm down and feel happy about your data center.
- 3:30What is the upside? So right there, it's almost setting the stage of how you should feel about this.
- 3:36Like right up front, that people's jobs, that's what their life is invested into.
- 3:42And if they don't have that, they have no purpose. They have no meaning.
- 3:45Meaning whereas is that the way that it should be
- 3:48and could ai actually unlock something that we could find deeper
- 3:51meaning a greater meaning that we could actually do
- 3:54the things that we want i know tucker carlson isn't out there picking up crap
- 3:59off the sidewalk or he's not throwing you know garbage into you know a garbage
- 4:05truck or maybe doing stuff that like and there's nothing wrong with that i would
- 4:08say there's nothing wrong with that at all but like it's not i don't think that
- 4:12people, that's what they live and love to do.
- 4:14I mean, regular people, their jobs, it's just, it's just a thing that they have
- 4:20to support their means and their, their way of life. It's not their life.
- 4:24And I think that that is the lie that most people.
- 4:28Are fed that most people are told that this is
- 4:31you and we can control you we have power over
- 4:34you and the government wants to just put us
- 4:37in our place that because we want
- 4:39they want us to be little hamsters on a hamster wheel turning out
- 4:43you know productivity whereas regular people if ai came in and was able to give
- 4:48us a little bit of escapism do the things that maybe normal people don't want
- 4:53to do that you could just be doing what you actually love and want to do and
- 4:57find your calling and not be just so tied to just a regular J-O-B,
- 5:03you know, just do something that is actually, because I, I feel I have a difference
- 5:08of opinion between work and a job.
- 5:10A job is just something you have to do. It's just something that pays the bills,
- 5:14but work is something, a God ordained thing, good thing, something that you
- 5:19find enjoyment in, you love, you like, it's like, and it's not this just pie in the sky thing.
- 5:25I think that people, when people talk about let's slow down AI,
- 5:28AI could step in and do some of the things that we don't want to do,
- 5:33that regular people don't want to do.
- 5:34Tucker Carlson is probably doing what he loves. A lot of people don't get the
- 5:38gift of doing what they love.
- 5:41And I think if we harness AI, we can take it and use it for a greater purpose
- 5:46that we can actually do what we want to do.
- 5:48And I think that that's kind of missing the point because it's,
- 5:52Tucker Carlson, I don't know if he's had a regular job most of his life.
- 5:55He's been in media and most people, that's what they're aspiring to do.
- 5:59They're aspiring to have that huge platform, have that huge voice,
- 6:02that megaphone that can influence, that can do wonders in this world that you can only dream of doing.
- 6:09And just but to tell people
- 6:12that let's slow down the data centers and i there's
- 6:15a lot that's going into that but just like i think
- 6:18we all we know there's something more out there that we want and
- 6:22it's just this this normal mundane regular
- 6:25life that we just think we have to do i think
- 6:28it's it could come to an end but i just see the difference between elon musk
- 6:33and and other that has just optimistic that sees a greater future reality that
- 6:40we could potentially experience as opposed to people that don't want to reach
- 6:44out into the future and pull it towards us.
- 6:46They just want to keep everyone living in this normal, regular life that is,
- 6:52that's not uplifting everyone.
- 6:54That's maybe keeping you above everyone so that you can have your cake.
- 6:58You can do what you want, but because most of these podcasters,
- 7:02they're doing what they love. And I love what I do.
- 7:05But to tell people that you can't do what you love, you can't achieve your dreams.
- 7:09That's why most people want to do TikTok.
- 7:11They want to get out there. They want to create social media content.
- 7:14They want to do something that's going to bring enjoyment to other people.
- 7:18Not to bring attention to you, but to bring more enjoyment to other people in their lives.
- 7:23That's why most people coming out of college are going towards,
- 7:26they want to have influence. They want to be an influencer. They want fame or whatever.
- 7:31But fame is a drug. Fame is addictive drug that people can just get caught up
- 7:35in and you have that and it could destroy you if you don't know how to control it.
- 7:40You don't know how to like be there.
- 7:42If you're not good when you get it, you're definitely not going to be good when you have it.
- 7:47So I think there's a difference between just having influence and being able
- 7:52to speak your mind and tell people there's better things out there for you as
- 7:56opposed to just let's just keep everyone in the doghouse.
- 8:00Why I get to live in my castle, my ivory tower, do my thing,
- 8:04do what I want, because they need their jobs.
- 8:08Let them have their jobs. That's their life. That's their meaning.
- 8:12That's their purpose. You're going to take that away from them.
- 8:16Really? Really? And I think that these college students that are coming out
- 8:20in the workforce, that's just what they're told. They're told to live in fear.
- 8:24They're told to live, but you're spending all this money to get a degree that's
- 8:30really not going to mean nothing when you come out of the world out into the
- 8:33regular world and you're not going to have a job there waiting for you a job
- 8:36there like that that is that is your life that's what you need that's the holy grail a job.
- 8:42Let's maybe like, if we can like maneuver past this, have the mindset of Elon
- 8:46Musk, and maybe not the mindset of Tucker Carlson in this, in this,
- 8:50in this specific instant, I think he's missing the point right here.
- 8:54Obviously if, if AI took over and wants us, desires to start us to start worshiping
- 9:00it, maybe we should pump the brakes then. I mean, yeah.
- 9:03And if it wants to like, you know, Terminator style, just take over the planet to use us as a battery.
- 9:10Maybe we should fight back. But man, that would be funner than just the regular
- 9:14life that a lot of people experience.
- 9:16And maybe you're a person that has the regular life and you love it.
- 9:19But I just know that if we're being honest, if we're being honest,
- 9:24seriously, I'm going to be honest with you. You can be honest with me too.
- 9:27We don't need to put on a little, a little paint our face and be a little fake
- 9:31little, you know, gremlins that just pretend to be like, everything's hunky
- 9:35dory. I think things were more dory, you know, not as much hunky.
- 9:40But what do you think? Let me know. Are you, do you think the AI is going to
- 9:44just ruin us because it's going to take away our jobs?
- 9:47Or do you think it could unlock things that people could do what they actually want to do?
- 9:51It could free them up to do what they love. And it's all about how you receive AI.
- 9:57If you can use it for your own purposes, if you can use it for greater humanity,
- 10:01as opposed to, you know, that's why we need to check the people that want to
- 10:04get up there and want to just control and, you know, for evil purposes,
- 10:08you know, that's the battle between good and evil,
- 10:10not between a machine doing something, a task that a normal human doesn't necessarily
- 10:14want to be doing, but they're being forced to do, you know,
- 10:18let go of the peasants, Tucker, let go of the peasants, you know,
- 10:22we're just, we're just regular people too.
- 10:23We want to, we want to get to that point, you know, where we're doing what we
- 10:27love. So I think a lot of people feel that. Let me know, or do you feel that way?
- 10:31Let me know, drop a comment, smash that like button and have a good Tuesday. See y'all.
