Transcript
- 0:02Hello, everyone. Welcome back to Eye Opener Society.
- 0:05My name is Gary Dean, and this is another episode. I just want to quickly give
- 0:10a shout out to our friends Carly and Carla from Appalachian Rootworks,
- 0:14appalachianrootworks.com.
- 0:16Check them out. They are a full service metaphysical shop. And guess what?
- 0:20Come June, I'm going to be down there and I'm going to be giving one of my first
- 0:24meditation classes. And this is going to be much different.
- 0:27I can't wait to get all this stuff together. I'm just waiting for them to put,
- 0:29you know, the whole thing together for me.
- 0:33And I'm going to get that out to everybody just as soon as it's in place.
- 0:36I'm looking forward to my trip down there and I'm looking forward to meeting
- 0:39you if you are in Cynthiana, Kentucky.
- 0:42And I'm also probably going to record it too. So for those of you who do not
- 0:46get to be there live, you will still see it on a recording.
- 0:51Now we have a good episode today with Lizzie and we're also bringing back our
- 0:55dear friend, Brittany, who's going to be interviewing us.
- 1:00And so Lizzie and I get to sit back and answer questions. It's always the fun thing.
- 1:04That's why I bring Brittany on because she's great with interviews.
- 1:07But since we did form a church and the church is now officially established,
- 1:14I'm sure there's hundreds of questions.
- 1:16And so that's going to be Brittany's job to ask those hundreds of questions.
- 1:18Brittany, how are you doing? Good. How are you?
- 1:21Doing fine, thanks. So Lizzie and I are going to sit back and we're going to
- 1:25answer some questions from you.
- 1:27Okay. I figured we'd start at least with the basics.
- 1:31Who, what, when, how. Just the information that everybody kind of asks in the
- 1:37beginning when you're starting something up.
- 1:38So we know it's Eye Opener Society Church, but who are the faces of Eye Opener Society Church?
- 1:48Well, there's going to be Lizzie's face. There's going to be my face.
- 1:53We also have Elaine Arcana, who does our Arcane Oracle podcast.
- 2:01I just ordained her recently as a minister. She's going to be joining us for a lot of stuff, too.
- 2:06And then, Lizzie, we got for the future. We're going to have a whole bunch of
- 2:11people coming on board. Are we not?
- 2:13Oh, yeah. I'm so excited. I have several people that I'm just waiting to reach out for.
- 2:17Just uh you know pulling myself together first but
- 2:21i hope i hope to have a lot of different faces for in
- 2:24front of the church because that's kind of the point that we're going with is
- 2:26that we're not trying to like tell the truth we're not trying to put a face
- 2:30we're trying to just like give people a space to be their own face you know
- 2:35well i know i'm excited and then i know that you guys have,
- 2:44explain that it's going to be more of a spiritual healing, but what more can
- 2:50you tell me about the church?
- 2:53What makes this stand out different from the one that's right down the road
- 2:57or the one I can join online from the comfort of my living room?
- 3:02What makes this different?
- 3:05Well, go ahead, Lizzie. I know you want to take this one. I was going to say,
- 3:09what makes it different, kind of to go back to the ending of
- 3:12my last answer is that most churches are
- 3:15declaring a truth and if you like my
- 3:18truth come join my church but something that we're
- 3:21trying to do is allow everybody a space
- 3:24to kind of blend and learn from
- 3:27each other so instead like our sermons when we're going to do them we're not
- 3:30going to be like and this is the best way to alchemize emotions we're going
- 3:34to be like and these are the things that we've learned about alchemizing emotions
- 3:37because i think that it's important that everybody can kind of explore and versus
- 3:44trying to learn a specific structure.
- 3:46They get to kind of pick and choose and play with it.
- 3:50And I'm going to add to that too, it's not a structured religion.
- 3:56We're non-denominational. I don't care what religion you are.
- 4:00You could join the church.
- 4:02We're looking at the spiritual side, the metaphysical side of everything.
- 4:07Everything from meditation to self-help to self-improvement,
- 4:11higher perspectives, and whatever Lizzie has, whatever I have,
- 4:14we all have our own modalities.
- 4:16But this is going to be one big society Where everybody has something to bring
- 4:23to the table It's not going to be your everyday structured religion And as a
- 4:29matter of fact We're going to be different from all churches Because we're going
- 4:33to have a worldwide reach,
- 4:35Once we decide what platform we're going to be on And start doing these sermons
- 4:39We are talking about everything and anything And we're especially going to be
- 4:44talking about things that regular churches usually shy away from.
- 4:50Lizzie and I are very big on this. We're huge supporters of being yourself,
- 4:55and that's the main goal of this church.
- 4:58Everyone could be themselves while they're attending this church.
- 5:03Absolutely comfortable in your own skin. We're here for you.
- 5:08I have to add on because your answer was just so good.
- 5:12That's the other thing is that a lot of churches, communities who are all exploring
- 5:18these things together, they all have this end goal of salvation,
- 5:21redemption, raising your frequency, whatever it is.
- 5:24And it's something that we're trying to pull together is that whatever outcome
- 5:27you think is happening, like go for it. Like you're good right now.
- 5:31Like we're not trying to like photocopy everybody.
- 5:34You know what I mean? So we all have the same morals.
- 5:37If you're just you, you're going to bring the most beautiful things to the table.
- 5:40And that's something I don't think people have any space for at the moment.
- 5:45I can agree with that. I think we all try to fit.
- 5:50I know myself just fit into this little box. And the more I try to squeeze into
- 5:55it, it's almost like the more resistant I get, the more I push back.
- 6:01It almost makes me feel crazy some days. I'm like, I can't be what you want
- 6:05me to be. So I think that will be great for the people who are finding themselves
- 6:10in that part of their life.
- 6:13Because we all get there at some point. It's just if you get there at an early
- 6:17age, middle age, a late age, wherever.
- 6:20Ever so when I know you typically used to release some on Mondays but when do you anticipate.
- 6:34Having like group meetings sessions do you is there a plan for that how do you
- 6:40plan to at least just start to get your message out with the both of you,
- 6:46I think we're going to start with doing Thursdays. That's what Gary and I were talking about.
- 6:51Because I know that if people are part of another religion, they're going to
- 6:55be more hesitant on joining our community.
- 6:58But if they wanted to, I wanted to put us in a spot to where they could do both
- 7:03if they so choose to. So, and most people, to my knowledge, don't usually have
- 7:07a whole lot going on Thursday evenings.
- 7:10Is that kind of seem like, you know, you're so excited for Friday, the week's almost over.
- 7:14But if it was on Friday, you know, we'd all be too busy having fun. So.
- 7:20Well, when you join our church, you're going to have fun. Good point.
- 7:25But yeah, Thursdays. And there's always going to probably be other pop-up things too, as well.
- 7:32Because, you know, Lizzie may get that wild, you know,
- 7:35bug up her ass And she's going to actually do her own show one of these days And we could put that up,
- 7:40I could do my solo stuff And Elaine might start bringing some stuff too I know
- 7:45she says she's going to work on some recordings as well So we may spread out
- 7:49a bunch of things But our actual core sermons, we're going to hold those on Thursdays.
- 7:56Okay. And where do you see this going?
- 8:00I know it's in the very early stages. You want to have the people join.
- 8:05You want to give a safe space for individuals to be themselves, to grow, to heal.
- 8:11But where do you see this going? Are these going to be Zoom meetings to start off with?
- 8:16Are they going to be YouTube, Facebook? What platform do you anticipate using?
- 8:21I know you said you weren't sure, but which one are you leaning towards maybe?
- 8:25And then do you anticipate, do you have the goal of opening a physical location one day?
- 8:34Yeah, this is exactly the phase we're in now is trying to decide.
- 8:39I'm doing some research.
- 8:41I would love it to be on YouTube. Supposedly YouTube is more church friendly
- 8:45for these online churches.
- 8:48However, for us to do it, since Lizzie's way on the other side of,
- 8:52you know, the west end of the country and I'm over here, I actually have to
- 8:56set up three different programs.
- 8:57I got to have Zoom up. I got to have OBS up. I got to have YouTube up.
- 9:01So it's difficult. It's not impossible, but it's one thing I've been looking at.
- 9:06I started looking at Facebook just now before we got on the air and I see some
- 9:10extreme possibilities with that.
- 9:13But Zoom is also available.
- 9:15So right now, yeah, this is our growing phase.
- 9:19And this is what Lizzie and I have been talking about. If you're joining us
- 9:22now, you're on the ground floor, you're going to watch us grow.
- 9:26And once we figure out all those things, we'll know exactly where to send people. And.
- 9:33As far as a physical location, wow, I always wanted to have a physical location, you know.
- 9:40But, again, with everybody spread out, you know, I've been dying to go out to
- 9:47Utah and move in with Lizzie.
- 9:49That's what makes everything so much easier.
- 9:53But, yeah, to have a physical location would be fantastic if everybody was all in the same.
- 9:58But, listen, I never thought I was going to start the church.
- 10:02And we did that. And here we are. So chances of a physical location, it's not impossible.
- 10:09Yeah, and to answer your question about where we think that we're going,
- 10:13we have a lot of good ideas.
- 10:15You know, of course, everybody who starts a project feels like they're going
- 10:17to hopefully change the world.
- 10:19But we're trying really hard to let everything develop however it wants to,
- 10:23because if we start focusing on getting that physical location,
- 10:26maybe that'll mess some different things up.
- 10:29We're just kind of letting it all unfold as it wants to and see where we can take it.
- 10:35So you're taking more of like a, I would say like a liquid approach.
- 10:40You are kind of just going with that flow to see what works best for you guys.
- 10:45So I think that's a great idea because a lot of people, Lizzie,
- 10:49you brought up a great point.
- 10:50They are so focused on one end goal that they miss those small little goals
- 10:56or opportunities in the beginning that could have grown them into something greater.
- 11:01And so I think that's awesome. And then how?
- 11:07How do we join? Like I know I've seen your Facebook posts, but how do we join? How can we help?
- 11:15And I know there are volunteer opportunities everywhere.
- 11:20Are you looking for volunteer-wise? Well, we need an accountant.
- 11:27Just kidding. We do. Honestly, we need an accountant. That would be great.
- 11:33To start, we started the church website, which we're going to put down the synopsis.
- 11:38This is a little difficult for me to always remember, but churchofeos.wixsite.com,
- 11:44EOS Church, or something like that.
- 11:45But it'll be down in the synopsis. If you go to that webpage,
- 11:50we have a page on there if you want to sign up, just to say you're with the
- 11:56church, you could do that.
- 11:58But if you do have any types of skills that you feel will be useful,
- 12:02like legal, attorneys, social media, stuff like that, anything that's going to help us grow.
- 12:11At the present moment, we are an LLC.
- 12:15So you can make contributions to us to help us, or you could help us just by
- 12:20volunteering your services.
- 12:23And then down the line, the next step we want to do is turn this into a 501C.
- 12:27This way, donations could be tax deductible. And I know everybody wants that
- 12:31because nobody wants to give the government money, neither do we.
- 12:34So that's what we're trying to strive for. We're that kind of church.
- 12:41I think, um,
- 12:45I think it's important to also just state stepping out of an interviewer status
- 12:50into just a potential member.
- 12:55Maybe if you're watching this and you don't think it's for you, share.
- 13:00Sharing maybe somebody else on your feed or somebody else in your life may benefit from this.
- 13:07I think one of the underused tools as well is word of mouth.
- 13:12Word of mouth can get things,
- 13:16spread faster. Gary, that's how I met you. It wasn't through social media.
- 13:21I know we had met in a different location, but word of mouth to get this podcast started.
- 13:29And that's how we grew into this bond friendship with podcasting.
- 13:36So sorry, I had to step out. I thought that was an important point.
- 13:41Maybe you're not legal or an accountant, but you're on the fence about joining.
- 13:48Share with your friends and family as well.
- 13:52And then I'll kind of leave this open. Is there anything that I maybe haven't
- 13:58touched on that you definitely want to bring to the table just to let everybody know.
- 14:06I would like to point out that you don't have to join.
- 14:09Like if you're on the fence of it and you're not sure if you want to like,
- 14:12quote, be a part of the community, you can just keep watching our podcast.
- 14:16You could check into the sermons. We're going to have lots of classes and information on the website.
- 14:21People are welcome to just explore what we have to say without like joining
- 14:25us on the journey if they're just not into it or not ready for it.
- 14:30Yeah, I'd definitely like to add to just basically repeating what Lizzie just said.
- 14:35Just watch us. And it's no different than our show that we do.
- 14:40You know, people probably tune in. This is not for me.
- 14:44Tune out. And some people are like, this is the best thing I've ever heard.
- 14:47And that's basically how our sermons are going to go. And that's how the church is going to go.
- 14:51Outside of that, I'm going to once again kiss Lizzie's ass again because she
- 14:57sent a whole bunch of writings. And it's in our teachings page on our website.
- 15:02And I've always, every time I read Lizzie's stuff, it's amazing.
- 15:07And I always say she should be charging for that instead of giving it away for
- 15:10free and putting it up for free on our website. But I think it's a great move.
- 15:14It's very, very self-explanatory that she wrote out. It's things people can follow very easily.
- 15:22Lizzie has a whole way of doing things the way she does. It's the Cosmic Fairy Princess way.
- 15:28It may be more complex than most, but it works. That's her modality.
- 15:33Me, I'm on the very simplistic side.
- 15:36Meditation, nature, outdoor, the motivation, that's my side.
- 15:41Elaine's going to bring something else. She's going to bring the whole cosmic
- 15:44tarot readings that she has.
- 15:47Whoever else joins the church is going to have their ways.
- 15:51And Lizzie and I, we go day by day.
- 15:55Every day it's something new. Oh, let's try this. Let's do this.
- 15:58I don't want that structure.
- 16:00I want us to be the way we are.
- 16:03Free thinking, open to anything, whatever happens, that's the direction we're going to go.
- 16:09If it fails, no big deal. We'll just erase it and we'll try something new.
- 16:14That's how eye-opener society is going to function as a church.
- 16:16And that's how everybody's going to come to us.
- 16:18Bring your flaws bring your
- 16:21disasters or just bring your
- 16:24complete whole self whatever works for you we'll be
- 16:26there for you yeah exactly go ahead
- 16:30sorry no go go for it i i lost what i was going to say anyways because i'm easily
- 16:36distracted so you go ahead i'm sorry i just wanted to say that i think that
- 16:40was a great point that you brought up lizzie um that there's not that pressure, essentially, to join.
- 16:49Just watch, support. Maybe one serum is good for you and the other one isn't.
- 16:57So maybe it's one week you decide not to participate.
- 17:01But I think with churches, there's this whole pressure.
- 17:04You have to come Sundays. You have to be there Mondays. You have to be there
- 17:07for Christmas Eve, for Good Friday, for Easter Sunday.
- 17:11There's so much pressure and to try to squeeze that into your daily life when
- 17:17you're already working or maybe you're, you know, a full-time parent or.
- 17:24Whatever the case may be, this allows some more flexibility and takes away that pressure.
- 17:31So that freedom is important.
- 17:36I love the idea. I'm excited to see where this goes.
- 17:41Yeah, me too. And, you know, we won't be like baptizing people.
- 17:45You can come and go as you please, you know.
- 17:49Right. No baptisms, but if you're
- 17:51married, we're ordained, we could do marriages if you like. Oh, yeah.
- 17:55There you go well I,
- 17:59I this gave me I had,
- 18:03just coming into this the basic knowledge Gary I know you posted a little bit
- 18:08on this and Lizzie you may have been in that too sorry I just see it from the
- 18:12eye opener society you know page but,
- 18:16it gave me the basics and then this expands upon it so it gives it more of the
- 18:20meat and potatoes not just the simplicity stuff.
- 18:25So I truly appreciate you guys taking the time so you could walk us through
- 18:31like what we can expect to see happen in the next upcoming months.
- 18:38So I'm excited to see where this goes.
- 18:40I'm also excited to be like a part of that foundation for you guys building this.
- 18:48Well, I certainly appreciate you. You know that, Brittany. You know, I love you.
- 18:53I, you know, you have been in the ground floor of, you know,
- 18:58this with the Eye Opener Society.
- 18:59And if you ever want to be ordained, I can ordain you.
- 19:04It's easy. But if you wanted to, we could do it for you.
- 19:09Maybe one day something more to add to the crazy life that, you know,
- 19:16I've been blessed and given to have, but maybe I can marry a friend or two down the road. Absolutely.
- 19:25Yeah, maybe I'll be a face. We don't know.
- 19:30Exactly. Hey, listen, this is the beauty of the church.
- 19:34Like I say, it's erasing the dogmas. It's erasing all that structure.
- 19:39Um, it's erasing all those, Hey, show up this day, show up that day.
- 19:43Most of our sermon is all going to be recorded anyway. So if you miss it on
- 19:47a Thursday, tune in whenever you can, that's going to be the great part of it.
- 19:52But yes, Brittany, you have been there. Um, and we appreciate it so much.
- 19:56We appreciate you, you know, taking the time out of your busy life,
- 20:00you know, to help us with this.
- 20:02And remember, we're also here for you as well.
- 20:05Anything you ever need, you got it. I appreciate it so it's been a blast as
- 20:12always thanks so much um I'll I'll end it with this uh for everybody out there
- 20:20listening all right we do have so much excitement about this,
- 20:25I keep coming up with new ideas I know Lizzie keeps coming up with new ideas
- 20:29we keep taking breaks so that we don't overwhelm ourselves with it but we're
- 20:34going to show up for this And it is going to be exciting to watch him build.
- 20:38Do you have anything else to add there, my buddy Lizzie?
- 20:41No, I think what you said was beautiful.
- 20:44Awesome. Well, I thank everyone for tuning in. I thank Brittany so very much
- 20:49for doing this little interview with us.
- 20:51And it's, again, this is the exciting part. Everybody's going to start joining
- 20:56us on that ground floor and we appreciate everybody's help. We appreciate everybody's showing up.
- 21:01We appreciate all listens, downloads, whatever it is.
- 21:04And again, if you want to volunteer, go down to our little synopsis.
- 21:08We'll have a link to our website.
- 21:10Check it out. Don't forget to check out our teachings page. Lizzie put a lot
- 21:14of work. Lizzie, how many years did that take you to write?
- 21:18Actually, it only took me 30 days to write it.
- 21:21It was the sum of everything I'd been doing previous to it. And I actually hate
- 21:25it secretly, but don't tell our listeners.
- 21:28And I did originally charge for it. It was 400 for those five documents.
- 21:32But ultimately, I think probably because my life was leading me here to this
- 21:36church, I just got this overwhelming urge to just like put it out there. So I did.
- 21:41Well, Lizzie, it's worth more than $400. I could have sworn it took at least,
- 21:46you know, 30 years to write because it's really good. It did in my head.
- 21:50You know how I'm always writing it in my head first?
- 21:53That's true. So it's, it's there for free right now on our website.
- 21:58So take advantage, read into it and we'll offer so much more.
- 22:02And again, I want to thank you all for listening. And again,
- 22:05don't forget Appalachianrootworks.com or good friends, Carly and Carla.
- 22:09Look out for further announcements for the exact date and all the details from
- 22:13my very first meditation classes that I'll be doing in Cynthia Ann in Kentucky.
- 22:17I'll see everybody really soon. Thank you again for joining us.
