[upbeat music] Hello, hello, hello. Hello. Hello. Welcome to Full Spectrum Cycling,
0:19
show number 66. 66. In the month of six. S- wow. Wow. [laughs] Oh. Pulled that one right out of the air. Hey, hey, hey, sometimes you're on. We're, uh- Next week we'll be at the Neighbor's of the Beast. The exam. Oh.
0:35
We are in the Everyday Cycles Riverwest studio here, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Beautiful day in the neighborhood. Yes. Yeah, the, uh, the rain's- The showers have passed... moved away. Oh.
0:50
I was kinda s- I was sourcing that and I'm like, "Oh, come on. All right, that's... Oh, now they're pushing it right to when I'd be riding over here." And then it just went bye-bye, and very delightful out.
1:01
That's been- The weather pattern of Milwaukee is- Oh, Milwaukee... calamity comes and then it dissipates before- Yeah... it arrives... like it hits that lake and it's like, "Nah, screw it."
1:11
The weather outside is weather. Yeah. So, uh, Sven here. Got JK over there to my right and- Hello... Mr. Tony Burger and, and special guest [laughs] today. Tenacious D in the house. Wonder boy.
1:28
Daniel has, is riding, what do you call that? That's not shotgun. That's, uh- I don't know what you'd call this... squirt gun? Riding Baby Bjorn. Yeah. Yeah. Upon Tony's- But it's not a Baby Bjorn.
1:37
Those have been a- these are now advanced from that. So- Yeah, that's like the- We got-... the modern-day- Yeah, it's, it's-... strap the kid to your front thing... he goes nuts at the dog park in it. [laughs] Yeah.
1:49
Well, he's- Just squeals like, "Ah." He's been pretty calm so far. Shh. [laughs] Knock. That's just, that's just formica. It doesn't really count. There's something underneath that that's wood. It's close somewhere.
1:59
Yes, but Baby Daniel in the house. Baby Daniel. Right on. Uh- Another week... so, yeah, there was a lot of stuff going on cycling-wise. [dog barks] Daniel says so too...
2:11
owing to the good weather we had and on, uh, Far- Far's day, T Burger and I went on the Black Is Beautiful bike ride. What a freaking great event that was. Yeah. That was truly spectacular. [baby cries] Yeah.
2:27
I mean everything about it. Daniel, we're talking. [laughs] We're talking. That was actually, I mean, it, it far exceeded anything I expected it was going to be. Yeah. I, it was- You know?
2:39
I was expecting a couple hundred folks. I don't- Yeah... I don't know what the final number was, but- I've-... it kept gaining momentum as we went. I heard numbers vacillating between 1,000 and 2,000. Yeah.
2:48
Yeah, I, I would say- I think it was closer to the 2,000 [laughs]... uh, by the time we got to Washington Park, I'm saying 2,000 was- Yeah, it was pretty-... was kind of the height of the, uh- Yeah, that was intense...
2:57
gathering of the people along the way. That was... And you know, I said this a lot on Sunday, but shout-out to those skateboarders and those roller skaters who took some of those hills so impressively. Yeah.
3:11
I'm like, uh, uh, the, the dude, I, I went up and talked to him, the, the young Black dude in the pink, like, cutoff top shirt j- bombing that Center Street hill.
3:22
I mean, I, like, had to look away, I was so worried he was just gonna- [laughs]... fricking yard sale everywhere, and he just cruised right through it, man. It's like- Yeah... wow.
3:31
And, and, and the, the ride was somewhere around 16 miles-ish. Yeah, something like that. Give or take a little bit. And, uh, and those folks did the whole thing, which was- Pretty impressive... pretty impressive. Yeah.
3:41
And the young lady who was, uh, I don't know if she was smart enough or if someone loaned it to her, but who had the, uh, bike lock wrapped around her boyfriend's, uh, seat post- Yeah, she-... as she skateboarded.
3:52
He pulled her a bunch of it. I'm like- Oh, yeah... "That's styling." That was still a lot of work [laughs] to be on a skateboard at 12, 13 miles an hour. Dig, dig. Actually, we were never going that fast.
4:02
[laughs] I don't think. It was a leisurely ride. It was a leisurely ride. And we were towards the back of the ride most of the time. On purpose. It was good. On, yeah. Keep, keeping us safe.
4:10
Well, they did want us, um- Doing a little sweep... lighter-skinned people to be in the back too- [laughs]... per their request, which is totally fine. I totally understand it.
4:18
It was, you know, the sign of, of solidarity there was, was awe-inspiring.
4:23
The people that came out in the streets to cheer us on and, you know, there was a couple of disgruntled drivers, but other than that, that was a, it was a very positive day.
4:33
Yeah, for something that's taking up a few minutes of your life- Right... it's like, you know- Relax... just suck it up or turn around and go the other way. Right. You know? Right. You can find your way around.
4:42
It doesn't- Although at one point, that line was from Martin Luther King up to Center Street Hill past Holton east. Oh, yeah. Go, what does that be? Six blocks? That's good six, very long six blocks. Yeah.
4:55
Um, so there was a lot of... And both lanes, all four lanes in some spots. Uh, once it was moving, it was going- It was good... past an intersection, it'd take about five minutes- Yeah. Yeah... for the train to go by.
5:04
It's like- No problem... you know. I don't know. People, I think, that gets disgruntled, you know, is it just that it's wasting their time they think, or are they against the idea of it in general? Of justice. Right.
5:14
Right, right. Against justice. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Um- I- But then, you know, we, we probably shouldn't talk about Saturday's bike ride, right? Because, you know, that was not supposed to happen.
5:25
What'd we do on Saturday again? That was the Fat Tire Tour of Milwaukee. Ah. [laughs] What do we do again on that day? Actually the most- Well-...
5:31
important part, not that I don't love the FTTM, but I finally accomplished my, my goal of having an Oscar's cheeseburger [laughs] through cor- through the, the quarantine.
5:41
That was, uh- I've been craving one for months... oh, for sure. That was a good, uh, uh, kind of pre-game, 'cause my mom called me this week and asked what I want to do for my birthday.
5:49
And I said, "Well, you know, Mom, [laughs] we were just at Oscar's and it's, it's really very, um, I think safe out on the deck there." Yeah. Yeah.
5:58
"It's, there's a lot of space and it's outside, and they're not letting any-"... schmoes in there. They're- And-...
6:03
basically taking their, [laughs] their customers who go there all the time It, it was quite possibly one of the coolest experiences. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah, that was interesting, as on our approach- I mean-...
6:12
it was like, "Okay, um" "Can we take out to the patio?" And it was like- Yeah, sure... "Oh, yeah. Can we just go back?" And- Well, you don't say...
6:18
they're like, "Yeah, we, well, we got, like, nothing here in the bar" and I'm just like, "Well, then j- j- then we're fine. We'll, we'll do that" We'll take a, a can beer. You know? Oh, yeah, and then it was like that.
6:27
I'm like, "Uh, yeah, all is fine. All is fine" Yeah, so we were, we were walking into the place and, and Sluggo was walking out. [laughs] Yeah, that was funny. Jeff, Jeff Valadyne- Yeah...
6:39
who did a nice, uh, presentation in the shop here a, a while back about touring and riding across- Yeah... 'Merica. 'Merica.
6:47
And then, uh, uh, the four of us that were riding together parked and, and walked up to the deck and who was sitting up there but, but [laughs] JK and Kim. JK and Kim. [laughs] So I'm like, "Wait a second.
6:58
We know those guys" I think we know everyone here today. Yeah, exactly. That was funnier than hell. And it was, as usual, the greatest cheeseburger in the world. Yeah. You don't- God, man... you don't kid about that.
7:08
That is, uh- I am, I am such a fan of the build your own there. Oh, I am. 'Cause I dial myself completely. I'm, I'm gringo baby. I'm, I dial myself- I'm gringo baby... completely in there. All right.
7:18
It's like grilled onions, that Boursin cheese and some bacon. Oh. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. I will eat the hell out of that sandwich. Oh my Lord, yeah. It sounds pretty tasty. Yeah. I don't like onions, but, you know?
7:31
I did it with the chorizo one time, but that was- Oh... that was, that was overkill. Yeah. I mean, that was just delicious grease ball, but... But yeah, that'll- [laughs]...
7:39
that, that's a heartburn waiting to happen right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, the Fat Tire Tour, I think the route is still- Posted... it's, it's up until the end of the month, basically. Yeah.
7:48
Yeah, you can do it. You can do it. You can go do that route and, um- I probably will... I probably actually- Instead of going on this... we kinda chased the, like, Jason and- Title of it, yeah...
7:56
and his, his little group of people and tried to catch up with them here and there, and ended up catching up with them basically at the last stop before the end of the ride. [laughs] Yeah, going home, yeah.
8:05
[laughs] Well, we were- So it was-... we were driving and we went, we found ourselves right by Saz's as they were meeting up and it was like, "Oh. Oh, there they are. Okay. Then okay, that's cool."
8:17
But then the call of the Oscars came and it was like- That's a hard one to pass, man... oh, it was. It was. That's a hard one to pass. Matter of fact, I, I think I was in here and we were getting ready to go for a ride.
8:26
G- we were waiting for someone to pick up a bike, and Greg's, you know, saying, "Hey, you know, are you gonna go do the FTTM?" I'm like, "Well, I really kinda wanna go to Oscars." He's like, "That's a lot better idea."
8:34
[laughs] I'm like, "Yep" Yeah, we can kinda do both. We could do that. We could do that. Yeah, yeah. So, um, I became a member of the button-pushing club- [sighs]... this week. He pushed the button.
8:48
Ah, the button is being pushed. He pushed the button. [laughs] It is so much fun. And I, I threw that on there Monday just to, to get, to get the effect, the feel. Um, real similar to how Tony set his up. It's super,
9:00
super simple, electric front wheel, Bafang 311. Yep, throttle only. Little throttle, just basically to get away from the stoplights and get up to speed- I know... and cut her out and, uh, and it's actually pretty fun.
9:13
It is a fun... It, it...
9:16
Uh, here's the deal is we were doing the whole Black is Beautiful ride, and I'm like, I, as I was riding, I'm barely using the throttle at all, just, you know, once or twice, and all I kept thinking to myself is, "The more I ride this without using pedal-assist or, or in my case throttle, the further I can go and still get back home using it" Yeah.
9:36
This is- So that part of it makes me wanna ride a lot further than I normally ride. It, it's like when you're riding with the group, you don't really need it- Right, right...
9:43
and then when you're, when you break off solo and you just wanna bomb home, you're, you're, you can do that. Yeah, 33.2 miles in our home. [laughs] Yeah, I'm kinda keep- That was last week.
9:53
I, I didn't, I haven't gone sh- over 27 and a half yet on mine. Oh, oh, I haven't gone over 27 and a half. 27 and a half and 32, 33 is very fast on a bicycle, people. [baby crying] Right, Daniel?
10:07
Yeah, it's moving right along. You know, it's, it's hauling ass, so. Yeah, that's what Daniel- Yeah, it's like a- Daniel, that's what Daniel says... it's like a rollercoaster. Woo wee! [laughs] So how old is Daniel now?
10:18
He was eight months old yesterday- Nice... or, or, or Tuesday, if you're listening to this on Friday. He looks like he's over 20 pounds now. He is tw- almost 21 pounds. He just had his- That's a big boy... checkup. Yep.
10:30
Big boy. He's done good- Mm-hmm... considering he came in at four. Is he riding bikes yet? Not yet, but he will be soon. [laughs] I'm gonna have it all worked out for him, get him a balance bike to get things started.
10:40
Yeah, I think that's the way to go. You know? And then we'll work... And he's gonna be, of course, on a cargo bike for as long as he wants, 'cause Daddy will take you anywhere on a cargo bike, kid. Yeah, buddy.
10:49
Especially e-assisted. [laughs] Yeah, I'm starting to think about what electric might actually be good for. Um- Oh, there's, there's lots of applications... for, for, uh, I got wheels for a Tradesman, uh, Soma. Perfect.
11:02
Don't have the frame yet, but I've got the wheels for it, since they were in stock. And if you don't know what the Tradesman is, pause this s- this cast right now and just open a new tab- Oh... and look up Tradesman.
11:11
I'll put a link in the show notes. It's, it's a- It's basically a front cargo bike with a 20-inch front wheel. 20. Yeah. It's badass. Badass.
11:21
Um, I sh- I'll give a shout-out to a couple of listeners, uh- Hey, listeners... yeah, um, Tim from down in Racine came up and got some new tires on his Maverick. He heard us on the show and- Nice...
11:33
said, uh, "Yeah, I had to come up and meet you in person and get some new tires" which was nice. Yeah. [laughs] And he's riding a Maverick, a Wisconsin bike, man. Right, and- Good for him...
11:40
he met Wyatt at our, uh, fatbike.com soiree- Very cool... in Port Washington last year- Very cool. Love it... and, uh, that's when he picked it up. I don't know, I didn't, I'm not sure I took a picture of it.
11:50
It's green with, like, red or actually orange graphics. It looks really sharp. Nice. Nice looking bike.
11:56
And, um, and I got a call from John out in Vermont, also heard us on our show and is, is talking about doing some Rolloff, uh, fat bikes, so that's kinda cool. That's a cool idea.
12:06
Folks, take, take- There's one of those in the Black is Beautiful ride...
12:08
take a, take a lesson from those, those two fine gentlemen, uh- You know, do some business with Everyday Cycles there on the web or, uh- We'll take care of you...
12:16
or, or, or call, uh, ca- call Sven on the phone or, you know. We will take care of you. We'll do our best. Hopefully it's good enough for you. But we will not install a cheap Chinese-made electric bike kit on your bike.
12:26
We've learned our lesson. I'm not saying we won't do it, but I'm saying we won't do it with that kind of fork. There, okay. All right. [laughs] Yeah, kinda, kinda had a little too much torque for the fork.
12:38
Torque for the fork. Pitch stalled- Too much torque for the fork... pitch stalled Sven onto the- That's gotta be a song... pitch stalled Sven right onto the ground. Uh-huh.
12:44
You know, after Jerry crashed into me the week before, I didn't really think I needed to crash anymore this year. [laughs] Nah, that was a crash. Ooh, we've gotta talk about that, too.
12:52
That was, that was- Well, the, the peanut gallery across the street at the public house was watching, and they're like, "Oh, are you okay?" I'm like, jumped up, I'm like, "Yes." It's fine. "I, I am.
13:02
I, I, I'm going to go inside now." [laughs] And do and seethe for a few seconds. See what I broke. Ah. Yeah. Ah. That sure does go on for a long time- Yep... on the, on the show. Ah. Um, so yeah.
13:17
So folks, uh, heads up, they got too much torque for magnesium forks, basically. Yeah, don't do that. And I, I knew this. I just thought- Steel fork only, baby...
13:24
I really thought that the, uh, torque arm would take enough of that load off, but nah, don't do that. So we're gonna put a dang old steel fork on that thing, and that'll be the way to go for that setup. Yeah, mm-hmm.
13:40
Yeah. He's counting to five already. That's pretty good. It's 25, actually. [laughs] Tony's walking down the stairs doing the- [laughs] Do, do, do... Oh, he's got- Oh...
13:51
a fancy, uh, G- that's, that's probably from Denmark or somewhere isn't it? It's a- Uh, yeah, I'm, I'm guaranteeing you this toy is-... fancy toy... uh, United Kingdom. Same thing. Yeah. Just ask Trump.
14:03
[laughs] Let's not ask Trump. [laughs] Other than, "May I kick you in the nuts as hard as I can, sir? Oh, I'm sorry. Was that in my loud voice?" [laughs] Um, a little excitement in the neighborhood here around the shop.
14:18
They've got saw cut lines on the roads for where they're gonna do the- Yeah... do the bike boulevard a half a block away from the shop here on Fratney Street, and uh,
14:28
that roundabout over at Wright and Fratney is gonna be big. Oh, it's a... They're doing a roundabout? Oh. Yeah, right there. I, I didn't get down that far. Right, right on the corner there.
14:35
Well, what better way to slow traffic? I know. Make the roundabout barely impa... you know, passable. Oh, yeah. Yeah, so, so there was- So people are gonna be airborne very soon, cars on their sides. Oh, yeah.
14:45
You see it. You don't have to- There was some, uh, Facebook conversation and, and some lady saying, "It's been proven that roundabouts make people drive through them faster."
14:53
I'm like, "I don't-" They're, they're bullshit. How... What? Bullshit. [laughs] There's no way, especially this type of roundabout, that you could go fast around it. Yeah.
15:00
It's, it's not like a- You, you, you can find research that says the Earth is flat, too. It's not right. Is that actual research or...? I, I'm sure. Well- Through reputable sources. Yeah.
15:09
Yeah, so, um, I, you know- Is it about, like, the size of the, uh, the one over by, uh, Uncle Wolfie's? You know? Uh, probably. I hope so. But I think more, there's more, um, coming out from the sidewalks, I think. Okay.
15:24
Oh, cool. I mean, it's, it's... You can see it right on the road. Yeah, yeah. It's actually- I just haven't made it down there. Yeah, it's actually drawn on the street.
15:29
Uh, we'll show you a little picture of this, uh, in the, in the show notes. Um, part of the Complete Streets program, and, and Fratney's been closed off during the COVID crisis here for,
15:41
uh, socially distant walking and interacting with your neighborhood, and by the most- I walk, I walk in the street every time on Fratney now. Oh, hell yeah. I'm like right on the side of the street.
15:50
I'm like, "I'm not getting in the sidewalk." For, you know- Love it... it's b- it's been a nice thing.
15:53
And, and unfortunately, uh, you know, the 1 or 2% of the jackasses that still go 100 miles an hour down that street need to be- They'll, they'll be stopped. What do they have, th- what do they th- those tire things?
16:03
They gotta throw some of those out there. Spikes. I mean- Yeah, we have some right here. I'll knock some out. [laughs] Yeah. So, hey, slow down, folks. It's not a race. Down. It's, uh, it's, it's a long-term thing here.
16:13
Yeah. It's a life, not a race. Hey, here's something, just a little PSA for folks. PSA. If you happen to be using a Velocity Blunt SS, which is a, a very fine made in the United States rim- Yes, it is...
16:28
but you wanna put a Extraterrestrial- Extraterrestrial... 650B by 46 on said rim- It-... don't, don't do that. It does not fit? [laughs] No, it fit, just blows off real cool. It makes a loud noise and- Oh, no...
16:39
yeah, so- She blow up on you in here.
16:40
Yeah, the, the guy at Surly was a little, like, "Well, some of the newer rims with the low, you know, bead blah, blah, blah, that's a little older tire design, and it works better with some rims and this
16:51
is blah, blah, blah, blah." So, you know, I'm s- it's a great tire. I love Extraterrestrials. I was- Yeah, JK, don't you have a set? Yeah, I gotta find something to put those on because I...
16:59
It just, it's such a good city tire, you know? But you would put them on a- But you, but you don't wanna put them on a Blunt SS... 29er Blunt? Uh, yeah, Blunt SS 29er. 650B. Oh, 650B. Oh. 650B.
17:10
So back to the Teravail, or no, WTB Horizons are on it now, so. Which is a much lighter and more supple tire. Supple. By Cranky. Hey, if we wanted people to call in, what would they do? I know. Dial, uh, 717-727-2453.
17:27
That's Small's Bike. Wow. You know what? I think if you call in now you're gonna have a new guy. There's a new guy that talks to you. Really? Is it a new computer guy, or is it a- It's, it's like an automated AI guy.
17:37
Yeah, nice. Yeah. Nice. He doesn't sound like a computer as much anymore. Oh, he doesn't have a web interface? No, he just has web interface or something- Nice... more, more legible as a, as a human being talking on the,
17:49
on the thing. Dang. So, uh, I, I, I, uh, can I reach this thing? He's reaching. Oh. [bell ringing] Oh. Top of the hill. Top of the hill, folks. So
18:02
for the second week in a row, the Three Floyds Space Station Middle Finger gets the middle finger. [laughs] Never made it. I was like, "Damn it."
18:10
We drank it all last week and didn't have any m- I went to get more for the show and, um- The Carbon 4 Lady Luck that I did pick up just suckered me in, 'cause it was four and a half bucks less, and I'm like- Oh, yeah...
18:23
I'll go for that. [laughs] Yeah, that's- Um, so today's show beer is Lady Luck from Carbon 4. A beautiful man, Madison Brewer. Over, over there in Madison, Wisconsin. Wisconsin. Um- Artwork...
18:34
it's more than just a beer... kinda has a little, uh, tank girl vibe on it. Is that... Or is she a f- a fly girl or a tank girl? Tank girl. Oh, yeah. Kinda. Tank girl. Yeah, kind of a tank girl vibe.
18:44
It's an imperial red ale, which we don't really have here all that often. Yeah. Seven- It's definitely imperial... seven and a half percent. It's big. That's what the imperial portion re- It's big... fers to, isn't it?
18:55
The, the higher alcohol content. It is big. It's big. It's more than just a beer to satisfy and soothe, it's an emotional experience- Yes... says Carbon 4. It gave me goosebumps.
19:03
It is deepest ruby red and filled with a symphony of malt flavors, including caramel, toffee, raisins, and currants. Currants. Oh, yeah. Let me see if I can get that currant. Can you taste that currant flavor?
19:13
Gotta smell it. Gotta get the nose. And a simple hint of roast and chocolate tones. I d- I do kinda get the chocolate tone lingering. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Little bit. It's tasty. Does almost have kind of a stout-ish almost.
19:26
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. It's a gentle giant, balanced with English hops, and it dominates all senses without destroying the palate. [laughs] Sexy as hell. Is that what it's ending it with? Sexy as hell.
19:39
Sexy, period, as, period- As, period, hell... hell, period. Is, are they all caps too? Oh, sorry, Daniel. Uh, no, not in this particular case. Oh.
19:48
Though I could've possibly case transformed or something weird when I pasted it in there. Um, I would go ahead and try it if I were you. I don't know how widely distributed Carbon 4 is, but- It's, it's...
20:02
You know, I would- Regionally... probably like one, maybe two. I would definitely not want a six-pack's worth of this. For your own damn self? Yeah. For m- I mean, to just sit down for an evening and enjoy a beer. Yep.
20:15
I might have one of these, and maybe switch to a couple of beer waters. Yeah. And then return. And then- And then maybe return... then maybe... Yeah, maybe. Yeah... or, yeah, sashay back out. You gotta...
20:23
You get, you get six of these- It, it's... and you're not s- you're not sexy, you're an animal then. Yeah. You're, you're, you're- [laughs] And the next day is horrid.
20:30
You're an animal if it- Well, it's, I think it's worth- Just rubs it sideways... I think it's worth noting that, uh, Held's has made a return to the, uh, to the show. Oh, I totally forgot to... Yeah.
20:39
My beautiful wife and my daughter, and I'm gonna guess Daniel- [laughs]... did a road trip to Held's for me before Father's Day, and I...
20:49
It's, I'm embarrassed to say that I opened up the refrigerator and was looking for something else, and I opened the vegetable crisper and I noticed a, uh, a container of hot sticks, and I never put two and two together.
20:59
[laughs] I didn't get the hot sticks out, though. Had I gotten them out and saw that they were, in fact, Held's, uh, Cajun hot sticks, I would've put two and two together.
21:09
[laughs] But Father's Day I was greeted with a rather large quantity of Held's jerkies, lon jaggers, and of course, garlic ring bologna. Garlic huh? Ring bologna. Oh, right. Oh, my God, it is...
21:26
This is taking me back to when I was a kid. My dad would make a ring bologna, and he would take a cast iron skillet and thin slice potatoes the, the long way, and just slow cook them with a lot of butter- Butter...
21:38
some salt and pepper. Dad was a butcher, right? Uh, yep. Butcher. And then sauerkraut, 'cause we were German. Did you link your own sausage? Oh, of course. [laughs] Of course.
21:48
So th- we've got, uh- See ya at your bitcha... we got teriyaki style beef jerky. We got hot Jamaican beef jerky. We got spicy beef jerky, and- And hot... hot Landjäger. I love that you threw those in there. Yeah.
22:01
I left the, uh, ghost pepper at home to save you guys the, uh, the pain that I've went through today already.
22:06
[laughs] I'm just gonna warn you, if you just got people out there in the listening world, you think, uh, ghost pepper jerky and coffee are a good combination, you're wrong.
22:15
You know, it's probably worth noting that heldsmarket.com, I'm pretty sure they'll ship this stuff- They, they do... anywhere you want it shipped... they ship it everywhere... to. And I...
22:22
And if you do order it, please put a note in our, in our podcast and tell us what you think, because it's pretty fucking delicious. And maybe we're just curmudgeony Wisconsinites, but it's a pretty great piece of jerky.
22:34
Well, if you got a jerky joint in your neck of the woods and they ship, let us know. Yeah. Maybe we'll order from them. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. We could do it.
22:41
Yeah, I had a, I had a fun one on, uh, on, uh, One of a Kind Grindz here in Milwaukee. Picked up a, a link of, uh, Portuguese sausage. Oh, yeah. How was it? Delicious. Ah.
22:52
Made a caldoverde, and it was, man, good, very good. But what was funny, and, 'cause I, every time I would go there I would see it in the freezer, and I'm like, "Yeah." I'm like, "Oh, wait a minute.
23:03
Th- this recipe calls for that." And I was like, okay, you know, I grab that and puttering around like, okay, yeah, well, we got, yeah, we got the Portuguese sausage. And then the, one of the owners, uh, David, [laughs]
23:15
he just kinda chimes in from the other, like, "Yep, I bought..." Or it was like, "We bought all the Portuguese sausage that was available." In the United States- Yeah... of America? Exactly.
23:27
[laughs] 'Cause they, they, they weren't able to, um, get it, uh, from Hawaii or anywhere. How do you get Portuguese sausage from Hawaii? From Portugal first, I guess. Port- Well. Yeah, yeah. Portugal.
23:37
But, but the, yeah, a lot of their, their import-export nonsense- Yes... is being rather impacted, so he, he was trying to find, like, every, like, every link of Portuguese sausage that was available he purchased.
23:52
[laughs] I was like, "Well, that's just awesome." That's classic. And I, you know, I'm like, okay. All right. Yeah. Now I know. [laughs] Why Milwaukee rules. Indeed, yes. We don't even have to m- have our own sausage,
24:05
but we'll get everyone else's too. Hey, here's something I'm gonna throw a picture of in the show notes. I, you know, it's on, it's the on the stand thing. Mm. On the stand.
24:12
This, well, right now on the stand is a Maverick getting- Oh... getting all built up into a, a fat bike, fat bike Maverick. Wyatt Maverick made- With bling kit... made in, in La Crosse, Wisconsin with a- Bling...
24:22
purple Wolf Tooth bling kit on it. Bling. But I got that Mazzi done, and boy does that thing ride nice. Oh, that's a beautiful bike.
24:29
This was a guy that had a single speed, older, not super old, but- You know, 20-plus-year-old Mossy that he wanted to have, throw a couple gears on and different handlebars and- It's a root beer...
24:39
we had basically, kinda got it all rebuilt. Boy, does that, that's a nice bike for riding around town on. Don't even need no electric on that thing, it's so fast. Oh, I'll bet. That's light as can be. Yeah, yeah.
24:48
Beautiful root beer, metallic root beer color. Oh. Yeah, it looks really good in the sun. Oof. Actually looks pretty good in this picture, too. So you can see that.
24:56
Oh, here's the, uh, I was just looking through pictures to see... I like taking... What are you doing over there? [laughs] Was that Daniel? Oh, Lord. [laughs] That- I was gonna say, no boom boom...
25:08
the, the, the boat went putt, putt, putt, putt, putt, putt, putt. No boom boom during the show, everybody. Not even looking at you, Daniel. No, don't give me that side eye. [laughs] So I- Oh, no...
25:19
I kinda like- He's giving the full eyes. Oh, he's got the full eyes now. Oh. Yeah, now he's- Furl, furl the brow now and- Oh, now he's eyeballing you.
25:25
[laughs] Uh, I like looking back through the photos from the week just to kinda remember what I did, 'cause- [laughs]... you know, did, did that happen since last show, or was that two weeks ago? Mm-hmm.
25:33
Or I dunno what happened, but so, um, hey, if you got photos, you could probably send them in, too. We'd, we'd put them on the website. Oh, we would.
25:40
I'm sure Gomez would love some Wallpaper Wednesday stuff or- Yeah, just yeah, cool stuff... maybe, uh, maybe, maybe things are opening up where you are.
25:48
Maybe you're out riding a little bit more often and maybe with a couple more people than you were a month or two ago. Kinda, you know- Let us know... fill us in.
25:57
I know, I, you know, obviously we're- Are you street riding like we are? Yeah. Street. Street riding, baby.
26:02
I know that, you know, some areas of the country are seeing some spikes and stuff, and some places- Right, street riding... are talking about shutting down again already, so, um, how are you guys making it work?
26:10
Street riding. I'd, I'd like to know. I mean, we're, we're doing our best to be safe, yeah, so we can keep bringing you this fine show. [laughs] Um, yeah, I guess, Daniel- Yeah...
26:23
do you have anything you wanna say before we, uh, tell everybody goodbye until next week? Got anything? Oh, that's munchy, munchy, munchy. Yeah. He goes munch, munch, munch, munch. He's done.
26:34
I think Sunday there's the Milwaukee By Bike scavenger hunt. Oh yeah, is that Sunday? Oh yeah, Sunday. You should probably- Sunday, Sunday, Sunday... so day after tomorrow you guys should go check out the scavenger hunt.
26:46
Milwaukee By Bike's, uh, kinda kickoff party is a, [dog whines] a ride around Milwaukee where you're doing a- I love Zingo... a, a scavenger hunt looking for statues of famous folk. And you're- And other stuff, yeah...
26:58
yeah, and you're going to basically take a selfie with it, 'cause it's not a group ride or anything. [dog whines] It's, it's do it at your own pace. Yeah. And you got four hours to get her done and- Get her done. Yeah.
27:07
Um- It's like around 11:30 or noon-ish I might bring Smush... yeah, 11:30 down there at, uh, Boone and Crockett on South Water Street. Right on the...
27:15
Is that the Milwaukee River right there, or is that the Menominee, or is that the KK- I do not know... or is that the... I think it's the KK. It's the KK? I dunno. It's some river. Near, near the confluence.
27:23
It's somewhere down there where all them rivers come together in Milwaukee. On Water Street. All three of them. Oh. Hey, speaking of three rivers, where's my thing? Thing? I dunno. It's around here somewhere. What thing?
27:35
Ah, my, uh, my Father's Day present was a big-ass Milwaukee flag 'cause they have the new- Oh, yeah... the new logo, you know. Huh? The new, the new not crappy looking flag. Yeah. Huh? Oh, where is it?
27:44
And the three lines on it are, they have multiple meanings, but one of them is the three rivers that come together here, and one of them is the first three towns, and I dunno, it's...
27:56
The, the, the sky that's orange-ish is the color of beer, so. Huh. [laughs] And, uh, obviously lake is the color of blue. I'll accept that. So, uh, all right then.
28:08
Well, hey, thanks for spending your hard-earned time with us once again, and, uh- Thanks for being with Podcast Baby.
28:14
[laughs] Thank, thanks for telling us you actually care about what we're doing and, and, you know, supporting- Heck... the shop a little bit and, you know- I'll tip your neck guy's beer...
28:23
they're like, I'm, [laughs] I'm talking to John on the phone, and he goes, he goes, "I recognize your voice. Uh, are, are you on the show? Am I watching you?" "Yeah. Yes, sir, yeah." [laughs] That's me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
28:33
Yep. And then I- We're only, [laughs] we're a two-man chat, sir... well, well, and then I had to explain the, the, the Greg versus Sven thing, too, so.
28:42
[laughs] Which most of you probably already know, which I'm not gonna get into right now, but- Sven... this is Sven. So I- So, [laughs] signing off. Wait, when, or, when is the Fourth of July?
28:51
Saturday the 4th of July is a week from tomorrow. Ah. Yep. You got one more time before your big day, so. Yeah. Um- I may or may not be here next week. What? I may or may not. Mm.
29:05
Let us know so we can repla- I mean, get a guest for you. [laughs] Uh, speaking of guests, I talked to, um, Rich from Uncle Dick's. Oh. Rich lives right across the street, so we can probably drag him over here.
29:17
I also talked to, uh, uh, uh, mental blank, Steve from Black is Beautiful, asked if he'd come in. Also a, uh, manager at Company Brewing. Oh, Roche. Oh, yeah. Steve Roche.
29:33
Absolutely talk to, I absolutely- If, if you haven't tried it yet, by the way, you can get Space Whistle at, uh- Space Whistle? Yeah, their IPA. Oh. Oh, yeah, baby. You can get it at Trader Joe's, and it is...
29:45
Wait, I'm sorry. I'm wrong. You can get it at, uh, Whole Paycheck, and it is outstanding. Hmm. Hmm. That's odd. Odd? Odd? I like it, yes. Very true. Space Whistle. I recommend it. Space Whistle. All, all right, everyone.
30:01
Till next time. Bye bye. Bye bye. [outro music] Bye, Daniel. See you, Daniel.
