  Speaker 1: All right.

Speaker 1: So it's another Saturday Faith Fuel and I'm just coming on really quickly to share some, hopefully, inspiration, teaching and encouragement.
• 0:08
Speaker 1: So happy Saturday, family.
• 0:10
Speaker 1: I hope everybody's doing really well.
• 0:13
Speaker 1: And I'm in Proverbs 13, verse 20 today and I'm thinking about the company we keep right.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: So that's going to be the title of today's quick, quick talk.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: So Proverbs 13, verse 20, whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
• 0:37
Speaker 1: Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
• 0:43
Speaker 1: Lord, I just thank you for your word.
• 0:45
Speaker 1: I pray that this will encourage someone in the walk that we're in and who we surround ourselves in, the company that we keep where we place ourselves, and that, as we ask for you to send divine help in this season so that we can move in our lives, see great blessings and breakthroughs, that you will remove the people who should not be there, lord, anyone who's going to cause us harm, and if we're those people doing that, we ask that you remove us altogether, lord.
• 1:11
Speaker 1: We just ask that you'll bless us and put us in the right spaces with the right folks.
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: Amen.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: So I got to pray first, so I want to share just really quickly something I was thinking about this morning about the company that we keep.
• 1:24
Speaker 1: Yesterday, something I was thinking about this morning about the company that we keep.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: Yesterday I was able to I think it's part of my self-care but I had four different conversations with four incredible women, highly educated, very successful women, and I love that because I love that for me, that I have friends who are successful in their own right, and I want to share that with you because I think we downplay and, quite frankly, I think some of it is jealousy when you see someone else being successful and you can't figure out how they did and how you don't get there and all the things successful and you can't figure out how they did and how you're going to get there and all the things.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: Listen for what I want to do with my life, um, and where I want to go, my profession, all the things right, um, I, I have to be in the company and I'm grateful that God has so my divine help, I'm divine help to them there, to me, but God puts me in a position where I can sit under the counsel of wise women and learn from them, and sometimes it's really about just you got to listen to people who have done the things, who've gone places more than you, right.
• 2:38
  Speaker 1: So that why?
• 2:38
Speaker 1: So that you can assess where you are and how you get to where you're trying to go, right.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: So I wanted to share this with you because these are four Black women that again we're downplaying people's success and their hard work, and I'm not in the season for that.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: I'm here to uplift as many people as I can, those who are doing the hard work.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: So my first conversation was with a woman.
• 3:05
Speaker 1: I'm not going to try, I'm not going to call people's names because I don't want to embarrass them or tell y'all who my friends are.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: But the first woman is a woman who has an honorary PhD and she spoke into my life and just really truly blessed me Someone I look up, quite frankly, as more of a sister than anything.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Watching her growth just inspires me and she shared, she poured into me and just shared some things that literally had me pull over my car and cry.
• 3:35
Speaker 1: I was grateful to her.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: She didn't ask, she wasn't taken from me and a lot of times, especially for folks who've had some measure of success and I have and it's true, thank you God, that people tend to take and pull and compete with you.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: But this wasn't the case at all, so I was so grateful.
• 3:57
Speaker 1: That was yesterday and I started the day Friday feeling kind of tired, quite frankly, emotionally tired, mentally tired.
• 4:05
  Speaker 1: But that happened.
• 4:06
Speaker 1: And then I got to talk to my mentee another successful woman and you know, just getting.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: I call it reverse mentoring, where I'm able to talk to, sometimes I just talk to mentees and I'm just getting their perspective on some things because we know each other right.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: So, um, so that was amazing.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: And then I went to lunch with a retired engineer and an md medical doctor both my girlfriends and we just talked about life and just connected.
• 4:35
Speaker 1: And so I considered that part of my self-care because by the time the day was over and I came home, I was so, um, filled with promise and encouragement about what my future holds, about where I'm going and that I'm on the right path and that God sees what I'm doing.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: But it was so important for me because again I line everything up with scripture to be reminded of Proverbs 13, verse 20,.
• 5:02
Speaker 1: Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: It's really important who you are walking with, and there are always people who come around.
• 5:14
Speaker 1: There's people who come around in your life, just like mine, and they're here for a temporary season.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: I have people that they come in, they're drawn in, they're attracted To me.
• 5:24
Speaker 1: They don't know why they come, they listen and they benefit in some ways.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Then they switch to competing, they start competing with me and then next thing you know, they can't stand me and everything I say because a personal affront and attack you know.
• 5:38
Speaker 1: So that happens, right, that's a part of the walk.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: That's why this you know we'll talk about ministry and all the things being women of impact and influence that this is a very lonely at times, not all the time.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: It can be a very lonely road, but it's so important that you walk with the wise so that you become wise.
• 5:59
Speaker 1: And walking with the wise means sometimes your friends might be doing a little bit better or ahead of where you are, and your role then is to kind of understand like there's sacrifice that you know we don't talk about, but it's still up to us to choose the right company.
• 6:19
Speaker 1: Now it doesn't mean that you turn your back on folks who aren't doing as well as you, but what I am saying is, if you've gone through a season of overcoming poverty mindset, for example, lack mindset, then you don't want to go back to that graveyard.
• 6:37
Speaker 1: If you will, you don't want to go back to that company, and sometimes there's people in your family that have that mindset.
• 6:42
Speaker 1: What I'm saying is you don't have to sit under that council of that poverty mindset.
• 6:46
Speaker 1: I'm not talking about people who are talking about kingdom building and it's basically just teaching you how to how to make some money.
• 6:52
  Speaker 1: That's not what I'm saying.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: I'm saying that mindset of lack where you really truly don't believe that all things are working together for the good and you're not putting the work behind it.
• 7:04
Speaker 1: So being wise also means that you're wise enough to know whose company you should be in.
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: You become that you should be in.
• 7:18
Speaker 1: Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise.
• 7:19
  Speaker 1: You become that.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: But the companion of fools will suffer harm.
• 7:21
  Speaker 1: Companion of fools.
• 7:21
Speaker 1: You know we can kind of trick ourselves to be to think that.
• 7:27
Speaker 1: You know, we have these friendships.
• 7:29
Speaker 1: Some of us have friendships that have been, you know, long into maybe we call it donkey years.
• 7:33
Speaker 1: Maybe you've been a friend to this person for 30, 40 years, you grew up together and all the things, but it's not the same as walking with them, right?
• 7:43
Speaker 1: So I'm not encouraging you to break up your friendships, okay.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: What I'm saying is that you have to be in the company of good, solid folks, folks who are wise, folks who challenge you to change or improve for the better.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: But you're not competing, you're not comparing yourself and whenever I have these amazing conversations I walk away y'all.
• 8:05
Speaker 1: My soul is blessed, I am challenged, I'm encouraged, like.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: When I walk away, I'm like, yeah, that person just put this seed of encouragement in me and I'm about to do this thing, and then I repay it in kind to somebody else, right, I don't just eat the blessings, I bless somebody else.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: So the company that you keep so that again is Proverbs 13, verse 20 whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: I pray this bless you.
• 8:34
Speaker 1: I pray this encourages you to look at the circle where you're spending your time and the Lord will send according to your season, and where you are in your walk.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: He's going to send people.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: He's going to, you know, put you in those positions.
• 8:46
Speaker 1: You don't have to go out and hunt down a mentor and all the things that you know.
• 8:49
Speaker 1: He will send you the right people according to the season that you're in.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: But if you find yourself starting to compare or compete with someone who you think is in your circle, then the problem might be you okay, because wise people ain't got time.
• 9:06
Speaker 1: Wise people do not have time to compare or compete.
• 9:11
Speaker 1: We are busy, focused on what it is that we need to do for ourselves and our families.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: How do we move forward families?
• 9:16
Speaker 1: How do we move forward right?
• 9:18
Speaker 1: How do we keep improving every day?
• 9:19
Speaker 1: The company that you keep is so important.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: All right, I hope this bless you, lord.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: I pray that this bless somebody today.
• 9:24
Speaker 1: That they're encouraged to consider the company that they keep and not go back to the old haunts, not go back to what was comfortable, especially in this season of tremendous change, not only in our lives but in our jobs and our health and our finance.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: That this is a time that we really stop and think about where we're spending our time and the people that we're giving our time to.
• 9:43
Speaker 1: I ask that you encourage those, lord God, who you've given an incredible assignment or dream or inspiration for them to do great things this year that they will.
• 9:53
Speaker 1: Also, that you will surround them with the people that will push them, that challenge them to go farther and that you'll encourage them.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: I thank you that all things are working together for our good, for those who love the lord, and we love you, lord, and so we're asking for this in jesus name.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: Amen, all right, I hope that bless you.
• 10:09
Speaker 1: I'll have an amazing saturday, and if you're in georgia, the sun's out y'all.
• 10:13
  Speaker 1: So, um, it's not exactly 60, but it's not 30.
• 10:17
Speaker 1: So we, you know, we spend time today just um thanking god for the grace, and god bless you wherever you are, and I love you.
• 10:25
  Speaker 1: I'll see y'all next saturday.
• 10:27
  Speaker 1: Take care bye.
