- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the Bougie Multipreneur.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Dr.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Hilary Huschauer.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Let me guess, you know YouTube is important, and maybe you have a channel, but it feels overwhelming, time consuming, or like something you'll get to later.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: YouTube is not just social media, it's a search engine and trust builder.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: People don't just scroll YouTube anymore, they actually go looking for answers.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So we need to be part of this.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: I assume that you have a channel for YouTube for your business.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: If not, hey, today's the day to start one.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: You don't really need fancy equipment or a huge big personality to be on YouTube or viral ideas.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: You just need consistency, clarity, and a simple plan, really.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So today I want to talk about little things we need to do for this year 2026 and YouTube and make this a year that you're really gonna pour into YouTube.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Do it with me.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do it.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I thought we could do it together.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: So if you are not on YouTube at all, then you have one goal.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And you just start.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: But ask yourself: do you want new clients?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Do you want authority?
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Do you want content that you can reuse everywhere?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Figure out your goal because that determines everything.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: When you set up your channel the right way, it should be very clearly answering who you help, what problem you solve, and why someone should trust you.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So today your channel name should be your business name or your name and what you do.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: So you could have like a banner text with it too, like helping small business owners grow without burnout.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Like that might be something my coaching channel would have, right?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And then there's an about section where you'd have three short paragraphs, not a long resume.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And if you don't know what to write, that's why there's AI, you guys.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Copy and paste some things in there, it'll be great.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Just the plan is just to get it done and get it going, right?
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Um, I wouldn't start with long videos, but with shorts.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: If you don't know what they are, look them up on YouTube.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: They are the fastest growing tool right now on YouTube.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do a lot of editing to them, they're very easy to discover, so they have a high discoverability, and they are perfect for business, like busy business owners like us.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: When you are filming the shorts, you film vertically with your phone.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: They're about 15 to 45 seconds, and just have like one idea per video.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: It's not every single thing you do and how you're gonna help every single person.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: It's just one idea.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: If you have lots of ideas, then there you go.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: You've got lots of shorts that you can make.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Um, some ideas when you're making a short, you could do something like one mistake I see small businesses make with marketing, and you could talk about it.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Or what I would do if I were starting my business over today.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Another thing would be if networking feels awkward, hear this.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Now, granted, these are things that I would personally use for my coaching, and I have done these, but short ideas.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: If you don't know what ideas to do, again, we have tons of AI stuff out there.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Or look at some shorts that you like and what do they do?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: But ideally, you would post two to three shorts per week.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: This should not take a lot of time.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And then um, you don't need a lot of like new ideas, just document things.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Like what have some of like your clients asked you?
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Um, what conversations do you have on the daily of like things where people ask you and you talk about?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: And then think about the advice that you already give for free.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: This is stuff you you already have, just write it down.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Put some put a little notes app on your phone that way you can remember what you want to talk about.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: If you tend to say it more than once, it's content worthy, okay?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Um, also for this 2026 YouTube trends in small businesses, they should really, we should excuse me, we should all focus on um authority more than the aesthetics of it.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: That people want real, they want it helpful and clear.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: You don't have to have like the perfect lighting or the viral dances.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: They want to see the authority, they want you, they want real.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: So they want us in front of the camera, they want our heads out there.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Um, they don't want just like um just random AI stuff in there.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: People trust you and they trust your business, so you need to be on it.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, so get out there.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: No, just kidding, but it does.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: That's what's what they want.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: So I wouldn't use a lot of like uh fancy AI stuff to make things unless your pictures in it or your voice.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Um, shorts in YouTube, they bring people in, but then the longer videos that you also have will deepen the trust.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: So, like the shorts, just like a little hello, if you will.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: It's the beginning steps of dating, right?
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You're bringing them in.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Then long term, the longer videos that you do will keep them and deepen your trust and you know, hopefully convert them into a new client for you.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: You don't have to go viral on these shorts, you just need to be consistent and searchable.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: So repurposing is expected on YouTube.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Um, one video that you make could have could make you a short on YouTube.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: That same video could make you an Instagram reel.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: You could make a LinkedIn post with it and a podcast clip.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: You just repurpose what you have.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: If you're not repurposing, you're making things too difficult.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: So let's say you actually have a YouTube channel, but you barely use it, right?
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: That's the most common situation that I see.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Don't think like, well, I'm bad at YouTube.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: So I made the channel, but I'm just bad at it, or I don't like to be in front of the camera.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: You're not bad, you're just inconsistent.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: And consistency will beat talent every time.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: So, how often do we need to post on YouTube?
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Two to three shorts per week, one long video every two to four weeks.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: I really feel like one video a month isn't a hard ask because you want to build your business, right?
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: You can get on there and you can talk about something, I guarantee.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: If you say you don't want to be in front of the video, um, you're in front of your patients or clients all the time.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: So if you can talk in front of them, then talk in front of the microphone and the camera.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: And another thing I hear from my clients is like, well, my hair is not done or my makeup's not done.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: But if you're that way in front of your client or patient, then why does it really matter if that's how you are on the camera?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying, so so types of videos we should be posting, educational or authority ones, like how to do XYZ, or what most people don't realize about XYZ.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: You could also do some fun, like behind the scenes, like a day in a life, um, or how you prep your clients or patients or something, and then maybe how you run your business.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Um, I would you could put something like catchy, like um unpopular opinions about marketing or about XYZ, or what I wish a small business owner would stop doing.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: You could do something cute like that.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: And if someone has asked you a question, just film it.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: So do like the FAQ videos, right?
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So easy.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: You know, people are asking you already, so might as well just do a video and say, like, I was asked this question today, right?
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, just start talking about it.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: So you definitely want to hook people in the first three seconds of your video.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Talk to one person, not everyone.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: So you're talking to your avatar, right?
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: To your ideal client, patient, etc.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: And then end it with like a simple call to action.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Follow for more.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Subscribe if this helped.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Comment help if you want support on this.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't worry about over-editing.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Don't wait till things are perfect.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: I know you out there who are listening who are perfect with all your stuff, and it might take you a week to to edit and do one short.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: That's that's too much time.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's too much.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be perfect.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Done is better than perfect.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And um, don't disappear for months.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: You might have to put this on your calendar to-do, that you are going to record these, you're going to do this or that.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: For me, it's a Monday thing that I do.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: I have it on my calendar reoccurring on Monday to do.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: If I can do it more than that, great.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: But I have it on Mondays to do, and I just cross it off.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Mondays are an easier day for me, and also I do it in the mornings because I have my most energy and creativity in the morning on Monday.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: So again, YouTube isn't about becoming a creator, and it's about just being findable.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: So if someone Googles you your name, your business, your service, your videos should pop up too.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: So these are things that I help other business owners do.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: I help them build visibility in a way that fits your real life, not an influencer culture.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: I'm not, I'm not thinking you should be either.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Great for those who are.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: I'm just talking about some basics, you guys, to get on there to do it.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Um let me know what you guys think.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Um, if you are a small business owner um who knows that you should be on YouTube, but you don't know where to start, this episode's for you.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: So hope you will subscribe to my YouTube channel.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Let me know yours, and I'll follow you back.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Let's get out there and make some YouTube shorts.
