- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the noisy chicken coop with
- 0:30these girls laying eggs. My goodness, you're going to
- 0:32hear it go off because she's got a lot to say today.
- 0:36Anyway, talking about Samantha, she is absolutely going to town
- 0:42right now. Anyway, today we are talking
- 0:45about kindness. This came up recently in a
- 0:49conversation I had with a client about how she is so kind and she
- 0:54literally is so kind to everybody around her except
- 0:58herself. And I said, well, do you think
- 1:00that kindness, having a rule of kindness, because she has high,
- 1:04high integrity values and rules around kindness should exclude
- 1:08yourself? And she couldn't answer the
- 1:10question. And she kept saying, what do you
- 1:12mean? And I said, well, you have to be
- 1:13kind to yourself. And she said, I, I don't know
- 1:17what you mean by that. Like she couldn't think about
- 1:19what did kindness mean in reference to yourself.
- 1:23So because these things are such teaching moments for my clients,
- 1:27they're also teaching moments for all of us here.
- 1:30So when you are kind to yourself, you take a break.
- 1:34I'm not always good at doing that, but that's when you are
- 1:36being truly kind to yourself. When you listen to your body and
- 1:38say instead of sleeping for six hours or seven hours, I need to
- 1:42sleep in. I need to allow myself to go to
- 1:45bed early. You know, that's always the big
- 1:47one for me. I don't like to sleep in in the
- 1:49morning, but I like to go to bed really early.
- 1:51I'm talking like toddler early 7:30 and I love being in bed
- 1:56early so I can read, so I can watch a show or I can just fall
- 2:00asleep, whatever I want to do. That to me is the space for
- 2:05healing and I love it. So that's kindness.
- 2:10Being kind to yourself is taking the time so that you can say,
- 2:13you know what? I want to take my dog for a
- 2:15walk. Not only is that good for my
- 2:17dog, but it's good for me. Being kind to yourself might
- 2:20say, hey, you know what? I've been not eating bad food
- 2:24for three weeks straight. And I really feel like, you
- 2:28know, I just want to have a pancake for breakfast.
- 2:30And I don't have to have a big one.
- 2:32But I'm going to be kind to myself and I'm not going to be
- 2:34so rigid. Now, I know that flow, you know,
- 2:37that flies in the face of goals sometimes.
- 2:39But when you know the difference, when it's just like
- 2:42this would make my soul feel better.
- 2:43And that's the kind of the way I measure it for me.
- 2:46Is this just a habit? Am I skirting something or am I
- 2:50just allowing myself to be kind to myself a little tiny bit?
- 2:54That is what I mean by this. Kindness to yourself really
- 2:58genuinely matters. And it feels good to know I was
- 3:02kind to myself today. And I bet you everyone listening
- 3:06is not asking themselves that question.
- 3:08Was I kind to myself today? Did I compliment myself today?
- 3:12Did I say, hey, great job? I mean, how often do we say
- 3:16great job to ourselves? I know I do it, but I've been
- 3:19conditioned to do it. I've trained myself to do it.
- 3:22So you have to ask yourself those questions because when you
- 3:25start doing it, it's a fundamental difference.
- 3:28So have you been kind to yourself today?
- 3:31Was I sweet to myself? Did I compliment myself?
- 3:34Did I treat myself like I would treat others?
- 3:39And believe me, it is not easy because we are so much harder on
- 3:42ourselves than we are with other people.
- 3:44We'll see somebody doing something and we'll be like,
- 3:46they're like, oh, it's not where I want it to be.
- 3:47And we're like, yeah, but you're almost there.
- 3:49Stick with it. You got this.
- 3:50Like, we'll give them the pop pep talk, but we don't give
- 3:53ourselves the pep talk. And giving yourself the pep talk
- 3:57is so necessary. Having your your, the awareness
- 4:01that you are not just one entity, but you are a
- 4:04conglomerate of the emotions, beliefs, all of that stuff.
- 4:08That's part of you that needs to be pumped up that you need to
- 4:12have those conversations with yourself.
- 4:14We all know that because we say little phrases like, well, I'm
- 4:17beside myself or, you know, we, we give the clues, you know, I
- 4:21need to clear my head so I move my body.
- 4:24We know we have all these different elements.
- 4:26So when we start to care for each of the elements
- 4:28independently, we start to feel a lot better.
- 4:31That's why we go to church because it's good for our soul
- 4:35for some of us. That's why we go make art
- 4:37because it's good for our hearts for some of us.
- 4:40We all have these little keys to the Kingdom, so to speak, but we
- 4:44have to execute them in kindness and being kind to ourselves,
- 4:48being aware, so super important. So super important.
- 4:53So I want you to think about how you are going to express
- 4:57kindness to yourself this week. What kind of questions are you
- 5:01going to ask yourself to keep yourself in line and on track
- 5:06with that piece? You're going to really work on
- 5:08that by asking the right questions because once you do
- 5:11that, everything changes and you start to feel better.
- 5:15You're more productive, you can get more done because your soul
- 5:18is like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it's feeling lifted up.
- 5:21And we all know how great we feel when somebody's
- 5:23complimenting us. It makes us just feel like we're
- 5:25ready to burst. Well, do it for yourself.
- 5:27Don't wait for other people. They don't need to understand
- 5:30anything to to do that for you. If you're doing it for yourself,
- 5:33is it nice to get it from other people?
- 5:35Absolutely. Do I love it?
- 5:36Yes, I do. But do I need it?
- 5:38No, because I do it myself. Remember that we are a
- 5:41self-contained unit when we choose to be.
- 5:44All right my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I will
- 5:47see you all tomorrow. Bye.
