- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line. Second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Puppas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown. Sayhawks,
- 0:18Speaker 1: it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catch in the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Our ten yard touchdown reception for Pumpas and the kid
- 0:26Speaker 1: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:29Speaker 1: this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com one of twelves.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I'm Michael Bumpas along with Nasa Choby. This is Hawk
- 0:37Speaker 1: Talk Preview edition Week nine. The Seahawks hit the road
- 0:41Speaker 1: in their head over to Buffalo to play the sixth
- 0:43Speaker 1: in two bills. But before we get into it, here's
- 0:46Speaker 1: Nasa with the injury Upbate. Thanks, bump Definitely feeling a
- 0:49Speaker 1: lot better this week about the help of this football team.
- 0:52Speaker 1: The running back room was absolutely decimated by injuries last week.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Chris car Seeing Carlos High, Travis Homer, Red coach Pete
- 0:59Speaker 1: Carroll Gayson updates on how those guys are recovering. We'll
- 1:02Speaker 1: see Chris on on Friday and see how he looks.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Gonna get him till till Friday to see what we
- 1:07Speaker 1: can find out. It doesn't look like Carlos is going
- 1:10Speaker 1: to make it. Um. Still, we got to take care
- 1:11Speaker 1: of the hamstring. So um. We brought in Alex Collins
- 1:15Speaker 1: to help us out if we need it. He's on
- 1:17Speaker 1: the practice squad right now and we'll see how he
- 1:19Speaker 1: works today. For sure. It looks like Homer is back
- 1:24Speaker 1: ready to go. That really helps us, um. So DJ
- 1:27Speaker 1: did a nice job last week. He and Homer if
- 1:29Speaker 1: they if they handle it, will be in good shape.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And if we have an opportunity to get Chris back
- 1:35Speaker 1: out there, we'll do that for sure. On the defensive side,
- 1:37Speaker 1: cornerbacks Shaquille Griffin is still recovering from his concussion and
- 1:40Speaker 1: hamstring injury. It was how that out of practice on Wednesday,
- 1:43Speaker 1: but still hopeful that he will be able to play
- 1:45Speaker 1: on Sunday. But the biggest news of the week is
- 1:47Speaker 1: the return of All Pro safety Jamal Adams. Um he's
- 1:51Speaker 1: practicing today, he's full go. I'm really excited to tell
- 1:54Speaker 1: you that that he's He's gotten all the way to
- 1:56Speaker 1: the point. It was so close last week and would
- 1:57Speaker 1: have had a chance last week, we couldn't quite get
- 1:59Speaker 1: it get caught up. But he's ready to go and
- 2:02Speaker 1: pumped and we are too, really looking forward to him.
- 2:04Speaker 1: All right, But make sure to stay current with all
- 2:05Speaker 1: what's happening in the Pacific Northwest at my Northwest dot com,
- 2:08Speaker 1: your source for local news, in depth analysis, weather, in traffic,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and stay connected to all your favorite teams at seven
- 2:14Speaker 1: tenth sports dot com with in depth Seahawks coverage all
- 2:17Speaker 1: season long. You said it, the Buffalo Bills six and two,
- 2:20Speaker 1: taken on the Seattle Seahawks. Who's next, Who's next, Who's next?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Who's next? It's the Buffalo Bills. They're six and two,
- 2:33Speaker 1: first place in the AFCAS. When's the last time you
- 2:36Speaker 1: said the Buffalo Bills are in first place in the AFCAS.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It don't happen. We ain't seen that in a long time.
- 2:43Speaker 1: That's what the nineties. So, yeah, I was a child, man,
- 2:45Speaker 1: we're talking about Ken Garyfeet Junior. I was a little
- 2:47Speaker 1: kid in the nineties. Man, it's been a minute. It's
- 2:49Speaker 1: been a hot minute. It's been a hot minute. Now
- 2:52Speaker 1: they've beaten the New York Jets twice. They beat the Dolphins,
- 2:56Speaker 1: the La Rams, the Vegas Raiders, the New England Pages.
- 2:59Speaker 1: When they lost to the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas
- 3:02Speaker 1: City Chiefs, their two losses are against pretty good teams.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Now you look at their wins the Jets twice. We
- 3:08Speaker 1: know how we feel about the Jets. Miami looks like
- 3:12Speaker 1: they're getting better. Miami's turning the corner. New England Patriots,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I just don't believe in them anymore. Poor Cam, poor Belichick.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So again another week where I'm kind of like, Okay,
- 3:21Speaker 1: this is a good football team, but are they a
- 3:23Speaker 1: good football team? It's hard to tell. You the six
- 3:25Speaker 1: and chee record, Like you said, the Jets, we can
- 3:27Speaker 1: throw that out the window. Miami. I'm slowly starting to
- 3:31Speaker 1: kind of believe that they're going to fight the Bills
- 3:33Speaker 1: in that AFC East, And you know that, we see
- 3:35Speaker 1: Miami put the beat the brakes off of the Rams.
- 3:39Speaker 1: They whooped up on the Niners before they are completely injured,
- 3:42Speaker 1: so they're they're kind of okay. And obviously the Rams
- 3:44Speaker 1: are a decent team, and then the Raiders are playing decently,
- 3:47Speaker 1: so it's it's hard to tell. Looking at their schedule.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But this last week the Patriots man there there that
- 3:54Speaker 1: is not the New England Patriots used to seeing, and
- 3:56Speaker 1: so they get beat again. Game came down to the wire.
- 3:59Speaker 1: The Patriots how a chance to tie the game. They
- 4:01Speaker 1: drove twelve plays a sixty five yards down to the
- 4:04Speaker 1: Buffalo nineteen yard line. And you Patriots fans, you're probably
- 4:08Speaker 1: feeling sick over this play. Short motion by Myers. The
- 4:12Speaker 1: staff newt he's gonna run it to the left, turns
- 4:14Speaker 1: up field a cost of fifteen You lost it fumbled
- 4:18Speaker 1: at the twelve yard line and the Bills recover. The
- 4:22Speaker 1: Bills have recovered Marlowe for Buffalo diving toward the loose
- 4:26Speaker 1: ball and he comes away with it as Cam Newtan
- 4:32Speaker 1: lost to handle well within field goal range running to
- 4:36Speaker 1: the Buffalo twelve yard line with thirty one seconds to go,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and I was just to kill it. Chance to win
- 4:42Speaker 1: the game. They're at the minimum they had time on
- 4:44Speaker 1: the clock that maybe they go win a game of
- 4:45Speaker 1: a touchdown there inside the red zone at the very
- 4:47Speaker 1: least you think they can kick a field goal. It
- 4:49Speaker 1: doesn't happen. The Patriots fall the two and five on
- 4:51Speaker 1: the season, first time since Tom Brady's rookie year that
- 4:54Speaker 1: they had a two and five record and lost four
- 4:56Speaker 1: games in a row. Man, it is rough down in
- 4:58Speaker 1: New England. I know know we're focusing on the Bills,
- 5:01Speaker 1: but I feel bad for Cam Newton. Man. He just
- 5:03Speaker 1: can't get right. I'm just calling mister can't get right
- 5:06Speaker 1: this year. He cannot figure to sing out ball security,
- 5:08Speaker 1: job security. Belichick's going through something he's never been through.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But it is what it is. Let's talk about these
- 5:14Speaker 1: Bills now. Josh Allen had an average performance eleven for eighteen,
- 5:18Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty four yards, one touchdowns, But where
- 5:21Speaker 1: they got a going was on the ground. The Bills
- 5:23Speaker 1: had one hundred ninety eight rush yards three rushing touchdowns.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And I think this is the formula for this team
- 5:29Speaker 1: Earlier in the season, Josh Allen, MVP candidate, doing all
- 5:32Speaker 1: this stuff. Okay, after like week four, teams start to
- 5:35Speaker 1: figure you out. And now you got to be a quarterback.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And he hasn't had the production that we saw early.
- 5:40Speaker 1: This is the recipe for this team. Have him throw
- 5:42Speaker 1: at twenty twenty five times, hand the ball off to
- 5:45Speaker 1: your running backs, takes shots to Stefan Diggs and colebas
- 5:48Speaker 1: and we have the opportunity. Yeah. No, I totally agree
- 5:50Speaker 1: with you. I think I think they need to have
- 5:51Speaker 1: balanced in their offense definitely. Like you said, I think
- 5:54Speaker 1: people got a little carried away with the MVP talks
- 5:56Speaker 1: with Josh Allen early on and even in the Jet game.
- 6:00Speaker 1: So they beat the Jets eighteen to ten, but they
- 6:02Speaker 1: kicked like six field goals. It was an ugly game.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We know that the Jets football teams like. And in
- 6:06Speaker 1: that game, Alan threw the ball forty three times, and
- 6:09Speaker 1: then you last forward to last Sunday, he only threw
- 6:11Speaker 1: eighteen times through a lot in the run games. That's
- 6:12Speaker 1: definitely something I think that they need to do to
- 6:15Speaker 1: have any kind of success against the Seahawks. It's gonna
- 6:17Speaker 1: be tough because we're getting against the run, but like
- 6:19Speaker 1: you said, that's got to be the formula because him
- 6:22Speaker 1: sitting back there, especially in Buffalo with the weather and
- 6:24Speaker 1: all that stuff, trying to throw the ball with forty
- 6:26Speaker 1: times is not going to be a recipe for success
- 6:28Speaker 1: for them, not for them, but it should be for
- 6:31Speaker 1: the Hawks. Don't matter what the weather is. I say,
- 6:32Speaker 1: let Russell do a thing. He's gonna toss that thing
- 6:34Speaker 1: all across the field. Now, head to head comparison, you
- 6:37Speaker 1: look at these stats. The Bills don't exhale at anything,
- 6:42Speaker 1: but they're average at a lot of things. Those are
- 6:45Speaker 1: the scary teams because that tells me there are days
- 6:47Speaker 1: where they will light up the scoreboard and the defense
- 6:50Speaker 1: will hold it down. And then there are days where
- 6:52Speaker 1: they won't light up the scoreboard and defense will give
- 6:54Speaker 1: up a bunch of points. They're just not consistent right now.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Rush defense, they're twenty six in the NFL. Is this
- 7:00Speaker 1: the game that the Hawks get their run game going
- 7:03Speaker 1: and Russell Wilson doesn't leave the charge as the leading
- 7:05Speaker 1: rusher on the team, You know, I hope so. I
- 7:07Speaker 1: think we saw DJ Dallas kind of get his feet
- 7:09Speaker 1: wet last week. Definitely hoping Chris Carson's back, Travis Homer
- 7:13Speaker 1: has another way to stay healthy. Who knows about Carlos Hide.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Hopefully he can come back. We'll wait and see on that.
- 7:18Speaker 1: But I mean the proofs in the putting right there.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I mean twenty six rush defense the NFL. We know
- 7:22Speaker 1: we have the best offense, but it would be nice
- 7:24Speaker 1: to see us get an opportunity because like you said,
- 7:27Speaker 1: that's probably the worst thing that they do is a
- 7:28Speaker 1: rush defense. Everything else, like you mentioned is just is average.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I mean total offense their thirteenth with three hundred and
- 7:34Speaker 1: seventy yards a game, rush offense tied for nineteenth. Past
- 7:38Speaker 1: offense tenth points per game nineteenth. So they don't do
- 7:41Speaker 1: anything super well, but they do just enough to win
- 7:45Speaker 1: ball games, and they don't cause turnovers. They are minus
- 7:49Speaker 1: one in the turn off a differential situation, so that
- 7:52Speaker 1: is good for the Hawks on paper head to head comparison,
- 7:55Speaker 1: the Hawks should be able to get this done. But
- 7:57Speaker 1: you know this game, this is the NFL. Got some
- 8:00Speaker 1: guys some balls over there as well. So now it's
- 8:02Speaker 1: getting to our next segment. No your history, No your history.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So the Seahawks and the Bills, they haven't played as
- 8:10Speaker 1: much as other teams as you'd imagine, being an AFC
- 8:12Speaker 1: East Seahawks league. The all time series eight to five.
- 8:16Speaker 1: They won their last two meetings. Now, their last meeting
- 8:19Speaker 1: consequently was almost four years ago this week. It was
- 8:23Speaker 1: November seven, twenty sixteen, on Monday Night football. Definitely a
- 8:27Speaker 1: weird game came down on the final drive. I don't
- 8:28Speaker 1: know if you guys, remember Richard Sherman had a pick
- 8:31Speaker 1: and him and Rex Ryan got into it on the
- 8:33Speaker 1: sideline Bill with John Action. Then there was a block
- 8:35Speaker 1: kick that people thought the Seahawks should have got a roughing.
- 8:38Speaker 1: The kicker call didn't happen. Bills drive all the way
- 8:41Speaker 1: down to the Seahawks eight yard len Tyrod Taylor got
- 8:43Speaker 1: sacked on third and eight by Cliff April. Then his
- 8:46Speaker 1: fourth down pass fell incomplete. But just another note for people,
- 8:49Speaker 1: forget for all those Jimmy Graham haters, he was low
- 8:53Speaker 1: ball in that day. He was eight receptions, one hundred
- 8:55Speaker 1: three yards, two touchdowns. Both of them were one handed,
- 8:58Speaker 1: highlight reel type catches. People forget that Jimmy Graham leads
- 9:01Speaker 1: almost every tight end category all time in Sehaws history.
- 9:04Speaker 1: So it wasn't all bad. Calm down twelve and they're
- 9:06Speaker 1: gonna get mad at me. Everyone sayd and Jimmy Graham
- 9:08Speaker 1: wasn't all bad. But also it was just kind of
- 9:11Speaker 1: reminder of where a run game is gone right. It
- 9:14Speaker 1: was Marshawn Lanche. It was amazing. Then it came down bump.
- 9:19Speaker 1: They won that football game. Tyler Lockett was the leading
- 9:22Speaker 1: rusher with one carry for thirteen yards. Team rush for
- 9:25Speaker 1: thirty three yards on the night christ and Michael had
- 9:28Speaker 1: five carries for one yard. Wow, I don't miss those days.
- 9:31Speaker 1: There have been darker days. Twelves remember that. And I
- 9:37Speaker 1: thank you for pointing out Jimmy Graham. I know everyone, Jimmy,
- 9:40Speaker 1: he didn't do this. Jimmy's not a blocking tight end.
- 9:42Speaker 1: He never was a blocking tight end. He came to
- 9:44Speaker 1: Seattle expect expecting him. The blog was not the key.
- 9:47Speaker 1: This is what you want him to do. Cast sets owns,
- 9:49Speaker 1: that's what he did. And as far as the run
- 9:51Speaker 1: game goes, whenever you got young Tyler Lockett number sixteen
- 9:54Speaker 1: leading your team, that's not a good look. So the
- 9:58Speaker 1: run game isn't where you used to to be. But
- 10:00Speaker 1: it ain't there anymore. The it ain't what two thousand
- 10:03Speaker 1: and sixteen where Tyler Lockett is leading the team in
- 10:05Speaker 1: rushing with one carry for thirteen yards. So that was
- 10:08Speaker 1: no your history. Let's go around the NFC West. What's
- 10:12Speaker 1: the word in the West, and the Seahawks are the
- 10:18Speaker 1: NFC West champs? Again, what's the word in the West?
- 10:23Speaker 1: On Hot Talk the word in the West, the Seattle
- 10:27Speaker 1: Seahawks are standing at the top six to one, looking
- 10:30Speaker 1: down all these peasants. Arizonas five and two. The Rams
- 10:35Speaker 1: are five and three, took care of the ninus. They
- 10:37Speaker 1: are four and four, so they're by themselves now. The
- 10:40Speaker 1: Cardinals how to buy. So we'll see what they do
- 10:42Speaker 1: this week. But right now we're feeling good. The main
- 10:45Speaker 1: thing about last week was you can't go oh and
- 10:48Speaker 1: two in the division, and they took care of business.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Let's talk about these forty nine ers. Oh my goodness,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and Niners are going through right now. Man, you mentioned
- 10:56Speaker 1: it like you kind of feel bad for him, but
- 10:58Speaker 1: you kind of don't. You got Jimmy out with an
- 11:00Speaker 1: of the high ankle spring, George Kittle broke a bone
- 11:02Speaker 1: in his foot. Most dirt is out. Coleman got knocked
- 11:05Speaker 1: out of that game. I feel bad for the forty
- 11:08Speaker 1: nine ers, but I ain't mad that the Hawks defense
- 11:11Speaker 1: was laying dudes out. Pettis knocked Pettis out the game.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I know you dubbed guy. You guys love him out here,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but this full bust a violent game, and it seemed
- 11:18Speaker 1: like the Hawks got back to that violent style of play.
- 11:21Speaker 1: They were just playing physical. There was no dirty plays
- 11:23Speaker 1: out there. They were just playing physical. Bobby Wagner, who
- 11:25Speaker 1: was in Jimmy Garoppolo's face all game, the secondary from
- 11:29Speaker 1: the jump, u Quandre Diggs first play the game comes
- 11:32Speaker 1: down downhill, knock somebody out. I mean, the Seahawks were
- 11:34Speaker 1: playing physical. You never want to see injuries for the Niners.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But my goodness, Bump, I mean they I'm not gonna
- 11:40Speaker 1: say it because they're not They're International Football League. Kyle
- 11:43Speaker 1: Shanahan's a great coach, but it is looking bad for
- 11:46Speaker 1: the Niner fans out there. Man. I honestly, I don't
- 11:48Speaker 1: know him, and they have to play on Thursday night
- 11:50Speaker 1: football and there's some COVID stuff. It's just it's a
- 11:53Speaker 1: bad deal for the Niners. Man. I think that might
- 11:55Speaker 1: be the final nail of the coffin for the people
- 11:57Speaker 1: down to Santa Clara. Yep, saying y'all hold tight now
- 12:01Speaker 1: about these Rams, man. The Rams lost to Miami. If
- 12:03Speaker 1: you just look at the stat sheet, you look at
- 12:05Speaker 1: the numbers, you're like, oh, yeah, the Rams won this easily,
- 12:07Speaker 1: even what the turnovers, they got it done. But no,
- 12:10Speaker 1: they take at l to the Miami Dolphins and is
- 12:13Speaker 1: all about turning the ball over and Miami's deefens got
- 12:17Speaker 1: two scores and a score on special teams. You've been
- 12:19Speaker 1: a coach, I've been a coach. You scoring defense, you
- 12:21Speaker 1: scoring special teams, You're probably gonna win this football game.
- 12:24Speaker 1: It doesn't matter what you do offensively. If you score
- 12:26Speaker 1: three times on defense just so alone, or three times
- 12:28Speaker 1: on defense special teams, you're definitely gonna win the game.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I mean, these stats are like if they don't make sense. Honestly,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I'm scratching my head. The Rams had thirty one first sounds,
- 12:35Speaker 1: Miami had eight eight for the game. The Rams gained
- 12:40Speaker 1: four hundred and seventy yards total offense, Dolphins one hundred
- 12:43Speaker 1: forty five. Rams throw over three forty Dolphins head to night.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I mean time possession thirty six twenty three. It's I mean,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it just makes no sense. But like you said, turnovers.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Talk about the ball and when you don't take care
- 12:54Speaker 1: of it. That's why Pete Carroll preaches at this is
- 12:56Speaker 1: what happens now. But I'm telling me about Jered goff Man.
- 12:59Speaker 1: He throws with you're in fifty five yards, but he
- 13:01Speaker 1: turns the ball with four times. What is his deal? Man?
- 13:05Speaker 1: He can't handle the pressure. Man, There's something about this
- 13:08Speaker 1: dude that doesn't say, when things get tough, I'm gonna
- 13:11Speaker 1: grit my teeth. I'm gonna look my guys in an
- 13:13Speaker 1: eye and say, Okay, we're gonna battle through this something.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And especially when you blitz the guy you send pressure
- 13:18Speaker 1: towards Jared gob he gets happy fee. He just wants
- 13:20Speaker 1: to let the ball go. He looks like your quarterback
- 13:25Speaker 1: in middle school who has had a dope line in
- 13:26Speaker 1: front of him all his life, and then he gets
- 13:28Speaker 1: he plays on varsity football and he's seeing some blitzes.
- 13:31Speaker 1: He doesn't know what to do. He gets happy feet
- 13:33Speaker 1: and he lets it go. So he's still a mystery.
- 13:36Speaker 1: The talent is there, you see the talent. Dude can
- 13:39Speaker 1: throw the ball, he can slang it. Good for him,
- 13:41Speaker 1: but he just can't handle the pressure. I don't know
- 13:44Speaker 1: what it is about this guy. What's the next step?
- 13:48Speaker 1: I don't know. Man, You tell me you got any
- 13:50Speaker 1: answer to that. It doesn't make sense to me, because,
- 13:52Speaker 1: like you said, the talent is there. Sean McVeigh is
- 13:55Speaker 1: an incredible offensive mind. They've done it in twenty eighteen
- 13:58Speaker 1: when they're rolling, they were gonna no one's gonna tell
- 14:00Speaker 1: them nothing. They were blowing past everybody offensively. Sean mcvays,
- 14:04Speaker 1: his big genius Jared Goff is looking like he's gonna
- 14:07Speaker 1: be that guy and he got paid like that guy.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's just weird to me because one day he'll come
- 14:11Speaker 1: out and he'll just be like, man, that's a Jared
- 14:12Speaker 1: Goff that they paid, and then, like last Sunday, you'd
- 14:15Speaker 1: have scratched in your head like who is that? It's
- 14:17Speaker 1: it's honestly mystery. But just because we're talking about this,
- 14:20Speaker 1: you know what Jared Goff, we're gonna see when we
- 14:22Speaker 1: play the Ramps. You know it's gonna be the good
- 14:24Speaker 1: Jared Goff because they always give his problems. Always he's
- 14:27Speaker 1: he's always ready to go. All right, Now, let's talk
- 14:29Speaker 1: about some matchups in our man up. Second? Is this man?
- 14:36Speaker 1: This man up on Hawk Talk? All right, we're talking
- 14:43Speaker 1: about the Bills in the number one matchup this weekend.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You can't look anywhere past the quarterback position, and that's
- 14:49Speaker 1: Josh Allen. So Josh Allen taking on the Seahawks defense.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And the thing about Josh Allen, man is people are
- 14:55Speaker 1: gonna say some stuff about this man, and I'm just
- 14:56Speaker 1: gonna put this out there without actually saying it. He's
- 14:59Speaker 1: not sneaky as he's not sneaky athletic okay code word.
- 15:03Speaker 1: He is just a good athlete. The man is six five,
- 15:07Speaker 1: two hundred and thirty seven pounds and he can hurt
- 15:09Speaker 1: you with his arms and his legs. Kind Of looking
- 15:12Speaker 1: at the numbers here, he's eighteen one hundred and eighty
- 15:14Speaker 1: six of two seventy seven for two thousand, one hundred
- 15:16Speaker 1: and seventy yards, sixteen touchdowns, just five picks, and I
- 15:20Speaker 1: mentioned his legs. Fifty eight carries, two hundred twenty seven
- 15:23Speaker 1: yards in four rushing touchdowns. So this dude can play.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I mean, he'll make some mistakes, but he's a good
- 15:28Speaker 1: athlete and he's gonna be a big challenge for the
- 15:30Speaker 1: Seahawks defense. Dude got talent. Say what you want, the
- 15:33Speaker 1: dude has talent. Now. He started off the season with
- 15:36Speaker 1: three games he throw over three hundred yards and had
- 15:39Speaker 1: ten touchdown passes. That's when everyone's saying, look out, he
- 15:42Speaker 1: might be MVP. And he was in the race. You
- 15:44Speaker 1: can't ignore the numbers. He wasn't a race. But since
- 15:46Speaker 1: then he's cooled down. He has thrown him a touch
- 15:50Speaker 1: jump pass in the last two games. In the last
- 15:52Speaker 1: four games, he's strown as many interceptions ass touchdounds that
- 15:55Speaker 1: is four. That is what is his second year is
- 15:58Speaker 1: third year, third years, third year. Okay, so this is
- 16:00Speaker 1: the maturation of a quarterback. Right when you are drafted
- 16:04Speaker 1: to a team, you're expected to lead the charge. It's
- 16:06Speaker 1: gonna take most guys three or four years to figure
- 16:08Speaker 1: this thing out. He has shown glimpses of them now.
- 16:11Speaker 1: He's completingly a sixty seven percent of his passes. QB
- 16:14Speaker 1: rating is one hundred and four. That rings tenth in
- 16:16Speaker 1: the NFL. That ain't bad. He's not a bad quarterback.
- 16:19Speaker 1: He's not a Russell Wilson. He's not Pat Mahomes, is
- 16:21Speaker 1: not Tom Brady's not Drew Brees. But this guy is
- 16:24Speaker 1: dangerous if you if you blitz him and you play
- 16:27Speaker 1: man and he can maneuver out of that blitz, he
- 16:29Speaker 1: can scamper down the field for fifteen twenty yards and
- 16:31Speaker 1: make things happen. Oh yeah, no, the dude, like we said,
- 16:34Speaker 1: he's incredibly athletic. He'll The thing that pressed me the
- 16:36Speaker 1: most about him is still stand in the pocket even
- 16:39Speaker 1: when pressure is coming. He'll still sit there and take
- 16:40Speaker 1: a hit. And he's a guy that's gonna take chances.
- 16:42Speaker 1: He will throw the ball up to his weapons and
- 16:44Speaker 1: give them a shot to make place. And if you
- 16:46Speaker 1: don't get home when you blitz, it's gonna be a
- 16:48Speaker 1: long day as well as if you let him get
- 16:50Speaker 1: outside the pocket. Now, he's not the prototypical He's not
- 16:52Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, he's not any though. He's not Colin Murray.
- 16:56Speaker 1: But you still have to be incredibly disciplined from your
- 16:58Speaker 1: defensive ends in that Leo position keep him in the pocket.
- 17:01Speaker 1: He one thing I'll say about him, he has had
- 17:04Speaker 1: some accuracy issues the kind of watch him film and
- 17:06Speaker 1: their losses in Kansas City and some of the other
- 17:08Speaker 1: teams they had. There's a little bit of weather action,
- 17:11Speaker 1: but who'll miss some throws. But he's still he still
- 17:15Speaker 1: got that talent and every any given snap he has
- 17:17Speaker 1: a chance to make a really big play. So he's
- 17:18Speaker 1: definitely a key to this game. You mentioned him standing
- 17:21Speaker 1: inside the pocket, taking the head and making the throws.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Next matchup, he's gonna be thrown in these guys. Stefan
- 17:27Speaker 1: DA's Cole Beasley verse the Seahawks secondary dig is on fire,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and I don't think he's getting enough credit right now,
- 17:33Speaker 1: maybe because he's tucked up in Buffalo. Fifty four reception
- 17:36Speaker 1: six ninety five yards, three touchdowns, twelve point nine yards
- 17:40Speaker 1: per catch. Dude is fast. I'm watching them on film.
- 17:44Speaker 1: His understanding on how to move guys and his double
- 17:46Speaker 1: moves are so quick. His deceleration, the acceleration is second
- 17:51Speaker 1: to none in the league right now. And then you
- 17:53Speaker 1: compliment that with the little dude in the slot, Beasley
- 17:55Speaker 1: forty one receptions, ninety four yards. He's the closest thing
- 17:59Speaker 1: to m oh the Patriots. Why Wesker, Yes, he's the
- 18:04Speaker 1: closest thing to West Walk Rove scene now Wells Welker
- 18:07Speaker 1: another level, probably Hall of fame. I can get it,
- 18:09Speaker 1: but I look at his route running and Beasley can
- 18:12Speaker 1: get it done. Yeah. No, And he's gonna hurt you
- 18:14Speaker 1: in the slot. And that's the thing. And I think,
- 18:16Speaker 1: depending on what the Seahawks secondary looks like coming into
- 18:18Speaker 1: this week, DJ Reid made his debut last week against
- 18:21Speaker 1: his old team forty nine Ers Scott an interception on
- 18:23Speaker 1: his first series with them, but he's gonna need to
- 18:26Speaker 1: come with it this week. Too, because Beasley is gonna
- 18:28Speaker 1: get loose in the slot and it's definitely gonna be
- 18:31Speaker 1: one of the tough challenges. And we'll see how the
- 18:32Speaker 1: Seahawks secondary improves, because we saw what Julian Edelman did
- 18:37Speaker 1: to us early in the year when he was getting
- 18:39Speaker 1: busy in the slot. So hopefully they can improve on
- 18:40Speaker 1: that one. And then coming up next, it's the running backs.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Running backs against the Seahawks front seven. Now, you mentioned
- 18:46Speaker 1: it earlier. You think this is the formula for the
- 18:49Speaker 1: Bills to be a good football team and win football
- 18:51Speaker 1: games down the stretch. Now, they got two running backs,
- 18:53Speaker 1: Devin Singletary and Zach Moss, the kid out of Utah.
- 18:56Speaker 1: They had it going against the Patriots. Singletary rest for
- 19:00Speaker 1: teen carries eighty six yards. Zach Moss had fourteen carries
- 19:03Speaker 1: eighty one yards, two touchdowns. You had a little rushing
- 19:06Speaker 1: from Josh Allen one hundred nine yards three touchdowns against
- 19:09Speaker 1: New England season high. Now, this isn't something they've done
- 19:13Speaker 1: all year. We mentioned they've been throwing the pill a ton,
- 19:16Speaker 1: so they're not a run first team by any means.
- 19:17Speaker 1: They're ranking nineteen through with one hundred and eight yards
- 19:20Speaker 1: per game. But like you mentioned it, they can do
- 19:23Speaker 1: some things. Watching film, they don't jump off at you,
- 19:26Speaker 1: but the things that they do it's good. So they
- 19:28Speaker 1: have I think I'm looking blank on his name. They're
- 19:30Speaker 1: tight end Kyle Croft. I believe it's his name, number
- 19:33Speaker 1: eighty one. They'll put him in the backfield and they'll
- 19:36Speaker 1: motion him almost every play, and he's essentially a fullback.
- 19:39Speaker 1: He's essentially a fullback. Will do a little bit of
- 19:41Speaker 1: the receiving game, but they'll be lead blocking a lot
- 19:42Speaker 1: of plays. So for me, they just seem to contain it.
- 19:46Speaker 1: They don't do anything special, but if you're not disciplined,
- 19:48Speaker 1: not in the right spot, and you're undercutting blocks and
- 19:51Speaker 1: stuff like that, they can have a big day, especially
- 19:52Speaker 1: now knowing what they kind of figured it out against
- 19:55Speaker 1: New England. Will be interesting to see what they tried
- 19:56Speaker 1: to do against the Seahawks defense. I wonder if they
- 19:59Speaker 1: get Josh Allen Moore involved in the run guy. I
- 20:00Speaker 1: believe he had fifteen carries last game. A few of
- 20:03Speaker 1: them were scrambles. But if I'm the Bills, I'm using them.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I'm using him kind of like how New England tried
- 20:09Speaker 1: to use Cam Newton earlier in the year against the Seahawks.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Let him read that defensive end. Let him make plays.
- 20:15Speaker 1: If he's smart and knows how to get down, I
- 20:17Speaker 1: think you use him. Now Seattle has a ninth is
- 20:19Speaker 1: ninth in the NFL when it comes to rush defense.
- 20:21Speaker 1: They just got to keep that going. Next matchup, Russell
- 20:25Speaker 1: Wilson verse the Bills defense. Now, in twenty nineteen, what
- 20:29Speaker 1: were you talking about the Bills all their defenses fired.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Their defense is that they were allowing two hundred ninety
- 20:33Speaker 1: eight yards per game. Now this year they took a
- 20:35Speaker 1: step back, but averaging they're giving up three hundred and
- 20:38Speaker 1: fifty eight yards per game. Perfect for the Seahawks. Hawks
- 20:42Speaker 1: are gonna put up Dan near what Well, last week
- 20:44Speaker 1: was a down week. I guess the offense looked a
- 20:46Speaker 1: little different around three hundred yards, but typically over four
- 20:50Speaker 1: hundred yards every week. I look at the defense and
- 20:54Speaker 1: I try to see it's just a defense that's gonna
- 20:56Speaker 1: slow Russell Whistle down. You can say last week the
- 20:59Speaker 1: forty nine slowed Russell Wilson down as far as yards.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Dude still through for four touchdowns. He's still gonna get it.
- 21:04Speaker 1: It's gonna look different. If he's not gonna rack up
- 21:07Speaker 1: the yards, he's gonna be a fish him. And I
- 21:09Speaker 1: think that he can do this against this football team.
- 21:11Speaker 1: They have m Edmonds, a linebacker who's not really great
- 21:15Speaker 1: in the pass game. He's more of a run game guy.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And they have very Tredavious White, excuse me messing him
- 21:22Speaker 1: his name, who is a baller? Now, this kid he
- 21:24Speaker 1: breaks on the football. He's very confident. When he's in
- 21:26Speaker 1: that twenty seventeen draft class with they had a bunch
- 21:28Speaker 1: of corners. He's starting to come into his zone. But
- 21:30Speaker 1: I still look at this defense and I say, russ
- 21:33Speaker 1: has keep doing your thing. Yeah, And the thing about
- 21:35Speaker 1: it you look at is what do they do? You
- 21:36Speaker 1: mention it? What do they do defensively? I think to
- 21:39Speaker 1: even have a shot you have to try to confuse Russell.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't know what I've seen on film if they
- 21:44Speaker 1: do enough in terms of moving guys around pre snap
- 21:47Speaker 1: and mixing up their blitz and stuff like that. Obviously,
- 21:50Speaker 1: Leslie Frasier, the defense coordinator for the Bills, is going
- 21:52Speaker 1: to have stuff in his bag of tricks. Going up
- 21:55Speaker 1: against Russell Wilsons will be interesting to see. But I
- 21:58Speaker 1: mean Russ gonna be Russ Man. I mean, he's got
- 22:01Speaker 1: twenty six touchdowns on the year, just six interceptions, needs
- 22:04Speaker 1: four touchdown passes to tie Tom Brady for the most
- 22:06Speaker 1: passing touchdown through eight games in NFL history this weekend.
- 22:09Speaker 1: As we know, four touchdown has kind of been Russell's
- 22:11Speaker 1: sweet spot this year, and also the win on Sunday,
- 22:14Speaker 1: Russell will break a tie with Peyton Manning to become
- 22:16Speaker 1: the NFL's all time winning his quarterback in the players
- 22:19Speaker 1: first nine season at ninety three and obviously there's a
- 22:22Speaker 1: lot of seasons to go, so that record is going
- 22:24Speaker 1: to be shattered by Russ. Russ is going to do
- 22:26Speaker 1: his thing. All the Bills can hope to do is
- 22:30Speaker 1: somewhat contain him. A good day for the Bills would
- 22:32Speaker 1: be him throwing two hundred fifty yards and maybe two touchdowns. Yeah,
- 22:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's all That's all you can do is
- 22:38Speaker 1: try to contain. Now, bump wide receivers. You mentioned Tredavious White,
- 22:43Speaker 1: Tyer Lockett, Deacon mecaff against him, and whoever's playing another
- 22:46Speaker 1: corner spot. Josh Norman has been in there, but he's
- 22:47Speaker 1: been banged up with a hamstring. They got a couple
- 22:49Speaker 1: other dbs in there now. Tredavious White is without question
- 22:52Speaker 1: their best defensive back twenty nineteen. He was a Pro
- 22:55Speaker 1: Bowl First team All Pro, fifty eight tackles, six picks
- 22:58Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen. So the man can play. He's aggressive,
- 23:01Speaker 1: like you mention'll come downhill. But boy, he's going up
- 23:05Speaker 1: against a different beast this week now. And I'll say it.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I've been saying DK Metcalf superstar, and I've been saying
- 23:11Speaker 1: we've been saying, this is the best tandem in the NFL. Bump.
- 23:14Speaker 1: What if you're if you're a coaching defense, what do
- 23:17Speaker 1: you do against these guys? What do you do? You
- 23:20Speaker 1: pick one guy to try to take away, but you're
- 23:21Speaker 1: just putting pressure on the defense with the other cat.
- 23:24Speaker 1: You know, last week DK did a scene. The week
- 23:26Speaker 1: before Lockett did the scene, these two combined have eighty
- 23:30Speaker 1: five receptions, twelve hundred and twenty five yards and fourteen touchdowns.
- 23:33Speaker 1: They are the two leading receivers in the NFL. When
- 23:35Speaker 1: it comes to touchdowns, both of them have seven. And
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's what I like about these two is they're not
- 23:40Speaker 1: hating on each other. No, DK Metcalf said in the
- 23:43Speaker 1: middle of the game, Tyler Lockey goes over to him
- 23:44Speaker 1: and says, we're the best duo in the league. While
- 23:47Speaker 1: DK's eating and Tyler's just chilling. Tyler got the game
- 23:50Speaker 1: going up, have four receptions I think thirty three yards.
- 23:52Speaker 1: But they understand that a week by week they're just
- 23:56Speaker 1: gonna take turns. I'm still now it's been a couple
- 23:59Speaker 1: of weeks, but this maybe the week We're both of
- 24:00Speaker 1: them do their thing, you know. But this receiver combo.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You have the big, fast, prototypical outside receiver and then
- 24:08Speaker 1: you have your slat guy who can do it all,
- 24:09Speaker 1: who also plays on the outside and can cash the
- 24:12Speaker 1: deep football. It's tough. I feel bad for anybody. Actually
- 24:15Speaker 1: I don't feel bad. Yeah, I mean, you get what
- 24:18Speaker 1: you get. But I'm with you. This is the best
- 24:21Speaker 1: duo in football right now. Coming into the season, everyone
- 24:23Speaker 1: saying Mike Evelyn's Gwin, Amari Cooper Gallup. No one was
- 24:27Speaker 1: really mentioning these guys. These guys are forced to be
- 24:30Speaker 1: record with, show some respect. Now, how are they gonna
- 24:32Speaker 1: get this? W here's the path to victory. At the
- 24:37Speaker 1: forty five waits for the staff, Michael Vickson puts it down,
- 24:41Speaker 1: that kick is away. If that kick is gon, it's gun.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It's a pass to victory on Hawk Talk hash to victory.
- 24:51Speaker 1: How are the Seahawks gonna get this done? Well, I'll
- 24:53Speaker 1: tell you how they get it done. Continue dominating ten
- 24:56Speaker 1: am kickoffs. Man, the Seahawks. At one point, we've beating
- 24:59Speaker 1: the into the ground. They couldn't do a damn thing
- 25:02Speaker 1: at ten am on the road. You might as well
- 25:03Speaker 1: have chalk that up as a lot was a part
- 25:05Speaker 1: of that. Oh my bad, my bad. Sore wounds there,
- 25:09Speaker 1: My bad, my bad. But no, the Seahawks won ten
- 25:12Speaker 1: straight ten am kickoffs dating back twenty eighteen. They're eighteen
- 25:15Speaker 1: and six in the last twenty four So they found
- 25:17Speaker 1: a way. They traveled to two day trip, they'll travel
- 25:19Speaker 1: on Friday. They figured out a way even through COVID
- 25:21Speaker 1: to kind of keep this going. So just keep that rolling,
- 25:23Speaker 1: keep dominate that time slot, and they have to build
- 25:27Speaker 1: off what the defense did last week. It was beautiful
- 25:29Speaker 1: watching the stunts on the d line, seeing Bobby Wagner
- 25:31Speaker 1: get after the quarterback. With Jamal Adams hopefully being back
- 25:37Speaker 1: this week, I think they can continue to be aggressive
- 25:40Speaker 1: and be creative. That is who they have to be.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I think the days of sitting back and letting guys
- 25:45Speaker 1: pick them apart are over. Be aggressive. Now you might
- 25:48Speaker 1: give up a couple of big plays being aggressive, but
- 25:50Speaker 1: guests web you get the ball. The ball back to
- 25:52Speaker 1: number three. He has some big plays in him as well.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Keep that defense aggressive. Got to Bobby Wagner is the
- 25:57Speaker 1: best blitzing linebacker in the national football weak. I think
- 26:00Speaker 1: what we saw it's finning like he got unleashed right,
- 26:03Speaker 1: and we want to keep seeing that. If Jamal is
- 26:04Speaker 1: back there, keep him guessing. Gotta love it now. Josh
- 26:08Speaker 1: allen Man, we talked about him. He's a key to
- 26:09Speaker 1: what they do. He can't be comfortable. Man, He's gonna
- 26:11Speaker 1: hurt you with the legs in his arms, and like
- 26:14Speaker 1: we mentioned, goes hand in hand. You gotta keep the
- 26:15Speaker 1: pressure on. You have to, and when you do pressure him,
- 26:18Speaker 1: you have to be disciplined in how you do it. Now,
- 26:21Speaker 1: you have to be disciplined in your angles, attacking the
- 26:23Speaker 1: right hip, keeping him in the pocket because once he
- 26:25Speaker 1: gets out of the pocket, he can be dangerous. And
- 26:27Speaker 1: now the gout to contain Diggs and Beasley. Digs is
- 26:30Speaker 1: your deep ball threat Beasley will work across the middle.
- 26:33Speaker 1: He's gonna test DJ read DJ read, first start, first
- 26:37Speaker 1: time being active for the Seahawks. He has to pick
- 26:39Speaker 1: Canny repeat that a performers do not need a pick.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But Kenny just be in the right place at the
- 26:43Speaker 1: right time. Now, hopefully we'll have Shaquille Griffin. I don't
- 26:48Speaker 1: know yet. Hopefully Jamal Adams will return. I don't know yet.
- 26:51Speaker 1: But the way this defense played last week encourages me.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It keeps me optimistic. Gotta control Diggs and Beasley though,
- 26:59Speaker 1: for sure, and we talked about it. Man, I'm not
- 27:01Speaker 1: gonna use the terminology that other people use, but this
- 27:05Speaker 1: Let rest be great, keep Latin rest be great. He
- 27:08Speaker 1: proves every single week while he's the best quarterback in
- 27:11Speaker 1: National Football League. Don't take the ball of his hands.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Keep let him do his thing and do his thing. Turnovers, turnovers, tarnovers,
- 27:18Speaker 1: turn the ball over defense. If there's one thing you're
- 27:20Speaker 1: gonna do, you're gonna be decent against the run. You're
- 27:22Speaker 1: gonna turn the ball over. Keep doing that, be aggressed
- 27:25Speaker 1: to prove it. You gotta prove it this this week. Defense.
- 27:28Speaker 1: You did it one week, Let's do it again. Let's go.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Gotta let him prove it. Come on, de we need you,
- 27:33Speaker 1: minor guys. Find complete Seahawks coverage on seventen YESPN Seattle,
- 27:36Speaker 1: seventen ESPN, Seattle app or seventeen sports dot Com, seven
- 27:40Speaker 1: ten ESPN, The Voice of Seattle Sports Bump, let's go
- 27:44Speaker 1: seven and one Man seven and one, let's get it.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Hawks go east to Buffalo to play the six and
- 27:50Speaker 1: two Bills. This has been real Hawk Talk Preview Week nine.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I'm Michael Bumbas, He's Nasha Choby. We'll hollight y'all next week.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Have a going hast hasten la
