- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am

- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So I want you to think about
- 0:32something today. What's the one sentence that you
- 0:35say to yourself often that you could rewrite this week?
- 0:39You know, is there something in your head that you often repeat
- 0:43that you know is just unresourceful, totally
- 0:48unresourceful mind chatter? And, you know, if you rewrote
- 0:53that sentence, it could change things.
- 0:56And you hear it, you hear yourself say it.
- 0:58And I, I say sentence, but it could be a question too.
- 1:02Like what else could go wrong? That was that was one of my
- 1:05mother's favorite things to say. Well, what else could go wrong?
- 1:09And she had a very what else could go wrong?
- 1:14Her tone when she said it, what else could go wrong?
- 1:16Like she expected it and she went with it.
- 1:20And it was a very difficult thing to listen to when she
- 1:24would get into that headspace. But if she had rewritten that
- 1:27one thing, if she had tried to rewrite that and said, well, you
- 1:31know what else could go right? What could go right this week?
- 1:35What are the good things this that could happen this week
- 1:38instead of all the bad things that could happen?
- 1:40She may have had a very different outlook and a very
- 1:42different outcome with things that she was doing and working
- 1:46on. Maybe that's why I went into
- 1:49what I do now. I don't know, but I do know I
- 1:52grew up with that and hearing that and it was never a fun
- 1:55thing to experience. I can tell you that for sure.
- 1:58And it's something I'm very conscientious of.
- 2:00When I start repeating things and hearing them repeat in my
- 2:04head, I want to check in with myself and I want to see if I
- 2:08want to rewrite that. Do I want to say something
- 2:11different? Do I want to change how I'm
- 2:12saying things? Do I want to think of something
- 2:15differently? And instead of like, as I'm
- 2:18sitting out here and I'm watching, one of my chickens
- 2:22comes walking up Celine and she's my one of my OG girls and
- 2:26she's getting a little older and she's already, you know, been
- 2:30hurt a couple times. But she seems to always come
- 2:32through my little French Crevacour and she comes walking
- 2:36up and she's slow, but it's 96°. And I could look and say, oh,
- 2:41what's wrong? Or I could say, oh, wow, she's
- 2:44still out here being OK. And once I do that, then I calm
- 2:48myself down. I can always change my frame.
- 2:51And that's the trick to this, changing the frame.
- 2:53What's really hard though, is recognizing you need to change
- 2:57the frame. So it's a, it's a process that
- 3:01you have to start internally by recognizing the pattern of the
- 3:05repetitiveness to begin with. And the easiest way to do that
- 3:08for me is to recognize that my emotion feels off, that just my
- 3:12emotion feels off, or that I'm, I get irritated and stuck on one
- 3:15particular note and then that's where that note takes me.
- 3:19I think it is worthwhile, very worthwhile to recognize that
- 3:25this is a process, my friends. It's not perfect and it's never
- 3:28going to be perfect, but it is necessary.
- 3:31So I'm going to leave you with that today.
- 3:34I'm going to, on this, you know, 96° day here.
- 3:38I'm going to leave you with that one thought and see if there's
- 3:42any way that I'm going to change my thoughts about this 90° heat
- 3:48plus day and change my attitude about it.
- 3:53So I hope you have a blessed day and I'm going to focus on the
- 3:56cool breeze that's going to somehow envelope me today and I
- 4:01will see you tomorrow. Bye.
