- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey everyone, it's been a minute, but welcome to Girls
- 0:15Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode from.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Long Story short the podcast.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and today we are going to
- 0:24Speaker 1: be discussing you had Me at Aaloha, the very first
- 0:27Speaker 1: in Hallmarks Summer Night's series. As you know, this is
- 0:32Speaker 1: a bonus episode of the podcast, which means we put
- 0:35Speaker 1: out a regular episode of our podcast every single week
- 0:39Speaker 1: on Tuesday, and this week we talked all about hobbies.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We talked about how much we hate the question what
- 0:45Speaker 1: do you do for fun? But then we also talked
- 0:47Speaker 1: about the hobbies that we have, how we make time
- 0:50Speaker 1: for them, and why we think it's important to find
- 0:53Speaker 1: a hobby and stick to it. I know it has
- 0:56Speaker 1: nothing to do with like productivity, So we would love
- 0:59Speaker 1: it if you would give that episode a listen.
- 1:02Speaker 2: If you want more from us outside of the podcast,
- 1:04Speaker 2: you know where you can find us Instagram, Megan and
- 1:06Speaker 2: Wendy LSS and.
- 1:07Speaker 1: In our Facebook group Long Story Shorties.
- 1:11Speaker 3: You can also email us at Megan and Wendy at
- 1:13Speaker 3: gmail dot com. We haven't had any Hallmark emails recently,
- 1:17Speaker 3: just because we haven't had any Hallmark movies to review.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Are you excited about the return of Summer Nights.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Well, I'm really excited to hear people think about these movies.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Please let us know see whether which one of us
- 1:33Speaker 1: you agree with, because well, this is this is funny
- 1:37Speaker 1: because obviously I don't know, I'm unfamiliar with like the
- 1:43Speaker 1: Hallmark schedule, you know, I know there's Christmas and then
- 1:47Speaker 1: there's New Year's New stuff, and then what.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Did we have like Valentine's Day Spring? And now we're here,
- 1:54Speaker 3: we are at Summer Nights, right, which is you know, exciting.
- 1:57Speaker 3: But I did see them promoting Chrismas in July. Is
- 2:01Speaker 3: that when they're going to be reshowing Christmas movies throughout
- 2:04Speaker 3: the month of July.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yes, and there is one new movie dropping as well,
- 2:11Speaker 1: that's Christmas movie dropping.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Really that is so crazy to me. So now I
- 2:17Speaker 3: wonder for like the huge Hallmark movie fans, like, now
- 2:21Speaker 3: we're in the second part of the year, are we're
- 2:25Speaker 3: just chugging closer to the Christmas movies?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Is everybody excited? They must be, right, I would imagine.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I think Christmas in July is a smart idea, gives
- 2:35Speaker 1: them a little bit of a break from producing new content,
- 2:38Speaker 1: although they have one new movie, but then they can
- 2:39Speaker 1: kind of that's where they get their base. I think
- 2:41Speaker 1: they have a much bigger Christmas base. I know I
- 2:45Speaker 1: typically did not watch year round Hallmark movies, certainly not
- 2:49Speaker 1: regularly until this year, but I always came back for Christmas,
- 2:53Speaker 1: so I think that's their bread and butter. Of course,
- 2:56Speaker 1: there is a fall series of movies as well, Never Fear,
- 3:00Speaker 1: But this is our big summer chunk right here? Do
- 3:04Speaker 1: you have a synopsis of this movie, Wendy.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Oh gosh, I'm out of habit here, I'm out of
- 3:10Speaker 3: my routine. Let me pull it up for you. Okay,
- 3:14Speaker 3: here's the synopsis. When the host of a popular travel
- 3:18Speaker 3: show resigns, the network end lists page to step in
- 3:22Speaker 3: for the next season, set in Hawaii. Unbeknownst to her.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Unbeknownst is that how you say that? Unbenounced?
- 3:31Speaker 2: You said it right the first time?
- 3:33Speaker 3: All right? Been knownst to her. I have also hired Ben,
- 3:37Speaker 3: who likes to push everything to the extreme. As these
- 3:40Speaker 3: two co hosts clash over their opposing ideas for production,
- 3:44Speaker 3: they grapple with the fact that not only do they
- 3:46Speaker 3: need each other to further their careers, but they also
- 3:49Speaker 3: balance each other out on an off screen starring two
- 3:53Speaker 3: people I've never seen before, Pascal Hutton and Kevin Smith.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And I know I'm butchering those names, but I have
- 4:00Speaker 3: no idea how to pronounce them.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I think you did just fine.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Cavin Ca ka v A N Cavin.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I thought I would say Kevin Smith.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And Pascal Pa s c A l E Pascal.
- 4:13Speaker 1: All right, all right, all right, news and notes. Hit
- 4:17Speaker 1: me with your news and notes, Megan. This was filmed
- 4:20Speaker 1: on location in Awahu, Hawaii. The resort that we see
- 4:25Speaker 1: is the Kahala Resort, but they also use locations like
- 4:29Speaker 1: Khna Baby Beach and why May It Falls.
- 4:32Speaker 3: M somebody got really lucky with on location in Hawaii
- 4:36Speaker 3: versus you know, Canada, which indeed no shade towards Canada.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I would love to go there, but I mean, Hawaii
- 4:45Speaker 3: is a beautiful tropical location that's like a vacation.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You know. Oh yeah, And they weren't there in the
- 4:50Speaker 1: dead of winter, like some of these movies were filmed,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you know, in freezing cold Canada exactly exactly.
- 4:57Speaker 3: So I found some news and notes that this movie
- 5:00Speaker 3: initially called Next Destinations. I think it's a little too
- 5:03Speaker 3: close to final Destinations.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Oh the excellent point, the point.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Next Destinations that has something to do with like their
- 5:11Speaker 3: sign off, right, or like the name of their show.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I like the Sometimes I don't understand the
- 5:18Speaker 1: name changes. I think this In this case, the name
- 5:20Speaker 1: change was a good choice.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I think it's awful.
- 5:24Speaker 1: To be quite honest, it is only like you agree
- 5:27Speaker 1: it's awful. Right you had me at Aloha or the
- 5:29Speaker 1: original name you had me at Aloha?
- 5:32Speaker 2: No, I like the new name.
- 5:33Speaker 3: It has nothing to do with the movie though, other
- 5:36Speaker 3: than it takes place in Hawaii.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Well, Next Destinations is boring, I agree, I agree, And
- 5:43Speaker 1: to not like the Jerry maguire you had Me at
- 5:45Speaker 1: Hello situation where obviously they're like immediately in love, but
- 5:50Speaker 1: I didn't even make you title the connection between you
- 5:53Speaker 1: had me out there?
- 5:55Speaker 3: God, I love that Jerry McGuire movie, me too. Do
- 6:00Speaker 3: any other news and notes because I don't.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Pascal Hutton and Kevin Smith play a married couple and
- 6:05Speaker 1: when Calls the Heart, Oh.
- 6:08Speaker 3: So they work together a lot?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Huh Yes, And they were also in the movie The
- 6:12Speaker 1: Perfect Bride Together. Pascal Hutton ticks the was once on
- 6:15Speaker 1: the show Once Upon a Time Box that is a
- 6:18Speaker 1: Hallmark movie after.
- 6:19Speaker 3: An actress that's bananas weird to me.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And Kevin Smith was in the show The forty four hundred,
- 6:28Speaker 1: which I only mentioned because my husband and I loved
- 6:30Speaker 1: that show. You would hated its science fiction. But if
- 6:33Speaker 1: you love that show, give us a shout out. It's
- 6:35Speaker 1: about I think the storyline as they were abducted by aliens.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Now I have a question. I wonder if it's the
- 6:42Speaker 3: same producing or casting company or casting agent who casted
- 6:48Speaker 3: Once upon a Time and who does Hallmark movies. Do
- 6:51Speaker 3: you think there's some connection there?
- 6:53Speaker 1: You know that is possible. What I think is at
- 6:56Speaker 1: play here is Once upon a Time has a huge
- 7:01Speaker 1: cast of supporting actors and actresses because they work their
- 7:04Speaker 1: way through so many Disney and fairy Tale characters. So
- 7:09Speaker 1: you know, some of these people play a major role
- 7:12Speaker 1: like snow White and prints Charming, and some just make
- 7:16Speaker 1: a quick cameo. So you know, you need Peter Pan's
- 7:19Speaker 1: Lost Boys, and you need Dwarves, and you need there
- 7:21Speaker 1: are so many supporting characters that I think at some point,
- 7:25Speaker 1: if you are an actor or an actress who plays
- 7:28Speaker 1: supporting roles, you're probably gonna get called up interesting.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Now that show is off the air, right, it doesn't
- 7:33Speaker 3: exist anymore. Correct. Yeah, I never saw it. That's just
- 7:37Speaker 3: not for me. What are your first impressions about you
- 7:41Speaker 3: had me at Aloha.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I had such high hopes for this movie. It's been
- 7:46Speaker 1: a while. We had a couple standalone movies. One was great,
- 7:49Speaker 1: one was terrible. I was really excited for summer movies.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I'm in the mood for summer. This did not hit
- 7:57Speaker 1: for me.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I'm sad to hear. I Let me just preface this
- 8:05Speaker 3: with saying that I really only paid attention to about
- 8:08Speaker 3: sixty percent of the movie, but I really liked it.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I like the end especially. But I think it's because,
- 8:16Speaker 3: like I want to be in the Hawaii bubble, you
- 8:18Speaker 3: know what I mean? Like I love that spirit of Aloha,
- 8:21Speaker 3: and so they they got me there. But isn't that
- 8:24Speaker 3: one of your biggest gripes is that, like, don't make
- 8:28Speaker 3: the location a character in the movie.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Indeed, in fact, in one of the categories that we
- 8:34Speaker 1: will discuss later, I wrote, don't rely so heavily on
- 8:37Speaker 1: Hawaii as a plot point. I thought them, Yeah, the
- 8:41Speaker 1: movie only really moves in the first and last fifteen minutes.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but but that was the premise. They are doing
- 8:49Speaker 3: that like a you know, a travel show, so of
- 8:52Speaker 3: course it has to be about the location they're in.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Right, Yes, But I read a review on IMDb that said,
- 8:59Speaker 1: essentially they should have made a reality show about Hawaii
- 9:02Speaker 1: showing off all of these locations, because I understand what
- 9:08Speaker 1: you're saying, Like, I think that this movie benefits from
- 9:11Speaker 1: having a beautiful location. It benefits from hey, look a
- 9:14Speaker 1: sunset cruise, beautiful ziplining, beautiful, snarkling, beautiful. These things are
- 9:19Speaker 1: all fun to look at, but there was no story
- 9:26Speaker 1: for that in you know, did I want to watch
- 9:28Speaker 1: a documentary about things to do in Hawaii?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Not really?
- 9:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I hear you. So, speaking of IMDb, I always
- 9:35Speaker 3: look over there because I love it. I think it's
- 9:37Speaker 3: just a treasure trove of funny things. This movie got
- 9:42Speaker 3: rated six point eight out of ten on IMDb, which
- 9:46Speaker 3: shocked me. That's a pretty high number for an IMDb.
- 9:50Speaker 3: But when I was going through the reviews that the
- 9:55Speaker 3: top part of the reviews were like, so terrible, quote
- 9:59Speaker 3: so stupid. This paint by numbers movie is dull. Could
- 10:02Speaker 3: not finish watching not the usual hallmark quality, And then
- 10:07Speaker 3: at the very bottom, really great reviews. Great fun in
- 10:10Speaker 3: the Hawaii bubble, very enjoyable fun, rom calm and gorgeous scenery.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Always the best Hallmark production. And I was like, did
- 10:18Speaker 3: somebody pay for these reviews? Because it was just so good.
- 10:23Speaker 3: The difference between the two was so crazy, right. But
- 10:28Speaker 3: with that said, I liked it. I'm shocked.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm shocked.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It took four different sittings for me to get through
- 10:38Speaker 1: this entire Oh my god.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I watched it on Sunday night, like you know, turned
- 10:42Speaker 3: it on the TV and hung out and watched it.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Well, tell me what you liked about this movie?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Okay, well I got a big list.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Well, first of all, the Hawaiian landscape. I love Hawaii.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's like one of my most favorite places on Earth.
- 10:59Speaker 3: I just love it so much. It gave me all
- 11:01Speaker 3: the Hawaiian vibes, like the Hawaiian music in the background.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I love Hawaiian music. I just I'm going there later
- 11:07Speaker 3: this month, so it may be very excited to be there.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That aside, I really liked the two leads. I thought
- 11:14Speaker 3: they had amazing natural chemistry. Now, okay, okay, it makes
- 11:24Speaker 3: sense to me because they work together all the time obviously,
- 11:27Speaker 3: so they're very comfortable with each other. But I thought
- 11:29Speaker 3: they had like a cute, fun, amazing like vibe together.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I liked it. I cared about the future of their
- 11:39Speaker 3: working relationship, you know, especially when was it Todd was
- 11:43Speaker 3: that his name when he like came back and it
- 11:45Speaker 3: was going to disrupt their hosting gig or whatever. And
- 11:47Speaker 3: then I was really concerned about Paige's future. You know,
- 11:51Speaker 3: she pitched them a show, blah blah blah, like what
- 11:54Speaker 3: is she going to do next? I really related to
- 11:57Speaker 3: Paige's character, you know, she's very you know.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Oh, yes, I related to her deeply.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Yeah, no, for real, right, yes, I wrote, I could
- 12:06Speaker 1: deeply relate to page being a wet blanket.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't think she was a wet blanket. Okay,
- 12:12Speaker 3: it's at the end when she was like I'm tired
- 12:16Speaker 3: of like I don't remember exactly what she said, but
- 12:18Speaker 3: she was like, I'm tired of being afraid or being
- 12:20Speaker 3: you know, in control or whatever. I just could relate
- 12:25Speaker 3: to it. I didn't think she was a wet blanket,
- 12:27Speaker 3: except for like at the beginning when she was like
- 12:29Speaker 3: I need structure and don't go off the script and ah,
- 12:33Speaker 3: well that.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Is when I could relate to her feeling like, hey,
- 12:36Speaker 1: we have a schedule to keep. Even if your ideas
- 12:39Speaker 1: are better, it is still frustrating to me when you
- 12:41Speaker 1: come in and try and change things on the fly.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Like I was planning to be on this beach and
- 12:46Speaker 1: address and now I got to put on a bathing
- 12:47Speaker 1: suit and get in the water. I could deeply relate
- 12:51Speaker 1: to that being frustrating.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And him constantly wanting to change plans.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And her feeling that that was annoying.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Well side note here, Yeah, I felt very much that
- 13:03Speaker 3: their working relationship was a lot like ours.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think that's why I enjoyed it so much,
- 13:11Speaker 1: only because.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Like, I think you kind of I like, I think
- 13:15Speaker 3: you kind of like a scripted sort of like this
- 13:17Speaker 3: is the way we're going to do it, and I'm
- 13:19Speaker 3: always like, I hate that way.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Let's just roll with it. So I just thought it
- 13:23Speaker 1: was funny. I mean, it eventually worked for them, and
- 13:27Speaker 1: I think.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It works for us. So I just thought that was funny, funny, funny.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I really liked at the very end how they jumped
- 13:35Speaker 3: ahead in time and they were on their new adventure,
- 13:38Speaker 3: which made me think like they had a YouTube channel,
- 13:40Speaker 3: they didn't have like a legit project they were working on.
- 13:42Speaker 3: But wait, was that supposed to be her show? Did
- 13:45Speaker 3: her show get picked up?
- 13:47Speaker 1: Okay, I didn't. I have that question as well, and
- 13:51Speaker 1: I don't know if that was answered. I don't know
- 13:52Speaker 1: if it was clear as this an official show. I
- 13:54Speaker 1: thought the same thing. Is this something that they're producing
- 13:56Speaker 1: on their own? Like you said, like a YouTube channel?
- 13:59Speaker 1: And then my bring much like how is this working?
- 14:01Speaker 1: How are they making money? How could this be a
- 14:02Speaker 1: full time job for them? But yes, I don't have
- 14:06Speaker 1: the answer, but I also wondered as well, what is
- 14:08Speaker 1: actually happening here? But I did like that it showed
- 14:12Speaker 1: that they were working together again.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Right, and then they had their snooch and it was like,
- 14:17Speaker 3: I like that it was set in forward time. It
- 14:21Speaker 3: wasn't like, oh, he found her on the beach after
- 14:24Speaker 3: she tried to get on the flight to Australia, which
- 14:28Speaker 3: really and then you know I had their kiss there,
- 14:31Speaker 3: Like I just yeah, I liked it. I liked it. Okay,
- 14:33Speaker 3: tell me if anything, what did you like? We've kind
- 14:38Speaker 3: of covered it all.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Agree that the Hawaiian backdrop was beautiful. It added a
- 14:43Speaker 1: lot to this movie. Again, I fell a strong kinship
- 14:45Speaker 1: with Paige, and I really liked.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Millie and Louis.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I was more invested in them and would have liked
- 14:52Speaker 1: them to have a romantic storyline.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I didn't. There was no like romantic vibes between them though,
- 14:59Speaker 3: was there.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It's more of a buddy vibe. But I liked both
- 15:03Speaker 1: of them more than I liked Paige and Ben.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's so funny. Well, that's what was
- 15:08Speaker 3: good about this movie is that each each lead character
- 15:12Speaker 3: had somebody to like, bounce ideas off of, or like
- 15:15Speaker 3: vent her or whatever. Because that's what I hate about
- 15:17Speaker 3: movies when they don't have like a secondary character that
- 15:20Speaker 3: they can confide in. So I did like these I
- 15:23Speaker 3: did like Million Louise as well.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I liked them.
- 15:27Speaker 3: They were good.
- 15:29Speaker 1: What did you wish for?
- 15:31Speaker 3: Well, when the movie started, I thought, oh god, it's
- 15:35Speaker 3: this is that I hate you, you hate me template,
- 15:39Speaker 3: and I hate that, Like I wish writers would give
- 15:45Speaker 3: men and women more credit in terms of developing a
- 15:49Speaker 3: relationship and or figure out better ways to create tension
- 15:53Speaker 3: between two people. That's not like I hate you, you
- 15:56Speaker 3: annoy me, you know, I'm just tired of that. It's
- 16:01Speaker 3: a Hallmark thing, right, Like, that's what I've learned over
- 16:04Speaker 3: the last eight months that we've done this is like,
- 16:07Speaker 3: that's what you're going to get from a Hallmark movie.
- 16:09Speaker 3: But I just want more from it. I expect more
- 16:13Speaker 3: from writers to come up with something yeah better, that's it.
- 16:18Speaker 3: That's all I wished for from it. If you can believe.
- 16:20Speaker 1: That I mentioned my wish earlier, you know that Hawaii
- 16:24Speaker 1: was not leaned on so heavily as a plot point.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I do feel like the majority of this movie happens
- 16:29Speaker 1: in the first fifteen and last fifteen minutes, and the
- 16:31Speaker 1: center of the movie is really just a Hawaii infomercial,
- 16:36Speaker 1: which is not unpleasant to watch, but doesn't really drive
- 16:41Speaker 1: the movie forward in my opinion. And I did read
- 16:44Speaker 1: some criticism that, you know, they went to a place
- 16:48Speaker 1: with its own culture and it was really whitewashed, and
- 16:51Speaker 1: they only used the locals and the local culture as
- 16:55Speaker 1: a backdrop as opposed to using them in a prominent
- 16:59Speaker 1: role in the movie. And that's not something I would
- 17:02Speaker 1: have necessarily come up with on my own. But I
- 17:04Speaker 1: do think that's an interesting point when you're going to
- 17:06Speaker 1: a place that has its own culture and has its
- 17:10Speaker 1: own local people. How do you balance that without it
- 17:14Speaker 1: being kind of like tourism porn?
- 17:18Speaker 3: Right right, that's a really good point. I like that too,
- 17:21Speaker 3: But I wonder let me pay Devil's advocate hair for
- 17:24Speaker 3: a second. Did COVID factor into that?
- 17:27Speaker 1: I will say that the article did mention that. They said, look,
- 17:30Speaker 1: why they understand that there's pandemic restrictions, and then their
- 17:32Speaker 1: comment was, maybe that's not an excuse we can use,
- 17:35Speaker 1: like if the pandemic is creating a problematic situation, maybe
- 17:38Speaker 1: this is not a movie you make when you have
- 17:40Speaker 1: to follow COVID protocol. Yeah, so I agree with both points.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I'll send you a link to that article I read
- 17:46Speaker 1: if people want. Yeah, so people can see the original source. Again,
- 17:50Speaker 1: this was not my idea, but I did find it
- 17:53Speaker 1: worth noting and interesting as soon as I read it.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 17:57Speaker 3: How about did you see that I only have two things? Okay,
- 18:02Speaker 3: Like I told you, I only watched it, like at
- 18:04Speaker 3: sixty percent attention. Do you scroll through your phone while
- 18:07Speaker 3: these movies are on always? Yeah? Me too. I liked
- 18:10Speaker 3: that it had or this is not a like did
- 18:12Speaker 3: you see that there was a song by the Flock
- 18:15Speaker 3: of Seagulls that played I Will Run. I think it's called.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I Will Run?
- 18:20Speaker 3: Is that it?
- 18:22Speaker 1: And I Ran? Am?
- 18:24Speaker 3: I just using the wrong the wrong? Is it ran vertense? Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 3: it's called I Ran So Far Away? Okay, okay, there
- 18:33Speaker 3: we go. Anyway, it played a flock of seagull songs.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Were they were? It was when they went on that
- 18:39Speaker 3: jeep and they were writing around in the jeep. Anyway,
- 18:41Speaker 3: I just thought like, what a I love that these
- 18:44Speaker 3: Hallmark movies sometimes feature like real life songs in them,
- 18:49Speaker 3: and this was like a throwback eighties song, which I
- 18:52Speaker 3: thought was so interesting. But I enjoyed that. The other thing,
- 18:56Speaker 3: did you see that? The first thing I thought of
- 18:59Speaker 3: when I saw the character Ben he's a bobo zach Efron.
- 19:06Speaker 3: He looks just like him, right, but a bobo version.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. I didn't make that connection,
- 19:12Speaker 1: but I mean, like zac Efron's dad, let's be real, okay,
- 19:16Speaker 1: oh right.
- 19:16Speaker 3: That's totally fair, totally fair.
- 19:19Speaker 2: What'd you see that cabana sucked?
- 19:23Speaker 3: I don't even remember a cabana.
- 19:25Speaker 1: He goes, I'll get us a cabana, and they're literally
- 19:27Speaker 1: sitting on a beach with two crappy lounge chairs, and
- 19:30Speaker 1: I was like, no, No, the whole appeal of a
- 19:32Speaker 1: cabana is you have comfy lounge shares and you have
- 19:36Speaker 1: like a nice setup. I mean they had shade, but
- 19:39Speaker 1: I was judging their cabana.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Look. Was it like a pop up tent?
- 19:42Speaker 1: I don't even remember it was basically. I mean, I
- 19:44Speaker 1: think it was like ever so slightly nice than a
- 19:46Speaker 1: pop up tent. But there's no like pretty curtains. There
- 19:49Speaker 1: was no nice lounge share. They're in a resort that
- 19:52Speaker 1: you know they could have They could have commandeered something
- 19:55Speaker 1: a little bit nicer, is all I'm saying.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Totally, because they did film this at an actual resort,
- 20:00Speaker 3: Like why didn't they just use one? I'm sure the
- 20:03Speaker 3: hotel had one, right COVID maybe I don't know whatever.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Right, and they were on the beach, and maybe it
- 20:08Speaker 1: was easier to cordon off a filming space on the beach.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They were never really at the pool, which I could
- 20:14Speaker 1: see why it would be harder to take up pool
- 20:16Speaker 1: space than beach space. They really showed the pool and
- 20:21Speaker 1: then her like walking by it, b right, like actually
- 20:24Speaker 1: at the pool or in the pool, right, right right, Okay,
- 20:27Speaker 1: go ahead. During the eighties trivia montage, we got a
- 20:31Speaker 1: bunch of answers and no questions until we got to
- 20:34Speaker 1: the final question. I would have liked again, this should
- 20:36Speaker 1: have been a wish, but this is what did you
- 20:37Speaker 1: see that? Why could we not get the actual questions?
- 20:40Speaker 1: It is not that hard to come up with three
- 20:41Speaker 1: or four eighties trivia questions via Google. I would have
- 20:46Speaker 1: enjoyed that. Two minutes there and maybe taking two minutes
- 20:51Speaker 1: from some Hawaiian montage scenes is all I'm saying. Okay Ai,
- 20:56Speaker 1: you're such a Hawaii hater. I love Hawaii. You're gonna
- 21:00Speaker 1: give me an eighties trivia segment. Give me some actual
- 21:04Speaker 1: eighties trivia. The trophy that they won was the worst
- 21:07Speaker 1: trophy ever. See.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I don't even know what you're talking about. And I
- 21:12Speaker 3: watched this movie. I don't I don't even remember these things.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I don't understand. It was a terrible trophy.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'd like to talk about the goats. Okay, I don't
- 21:22Speaker 1: really know what segment this belonged.
- 21:24Speaker 3: I put it in.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Look, she's so melodramatic about the goat situation. So you
- 21:28Speaker 1: became an internet meme. My goodness, this did not ruin
- 21:32Speaker 1: your career. And then when she tells the story, she.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Goes, the goats were my idea.
- 21:39Speaker 1: As if somebody died, as if her mistake with running
- 21:44Speaker 1: away from the goats led to some tragic event. Okay,
- 21:47Speaker 1: yes there was some financial consequence. I do not believe
- 21:52Speaker 1: that this goat incident was the career ruining moment that
- 21:55Speaker 1: you've made it out to be. And then when the
- 21:58Speaker 1: trivia guy's like, you're the goat lady and then she
- 22:00Speaker 1: runs away as opposed to just like leaning into like
- 22:04Speaker 1: oh yeah, like at some point you gotta lean into
- 22:08Speaker 1: the joke.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I hear you. It's any better writers for these need.
- 22:13Speaker 1: What it comes down to, Yeah, we needed a better
- 22:16Speaker 1: career pause moment.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, make her like crap her pants on camera or
- 22:22Speaker 3: something like that is something to be embarrassed about, not
- 22:24Speaker 3: like running away from a goat because you're afraid of
- 22:28Speaker 3: a goat or whatever.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Right, you're just funny, they're not. It's not the dramatic
- 22:32Speaker 2: moment that you want me to believe.
- 22:34Speaker 3: It is. Have the goat eat her dress off and
- 22:36Speaker 3: then she's standing there naked. That's funny. That's something to
- 22:40Speaker 3: be about to happen. That's what I thought wouldna happen. Yeah, exactly,
- 22:46Speaker 3: Let's write a movie.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Why May It Falls? Have you been there?
- 22:52Speaker 3: No, I've never been to a wha who before.
- 22:55Speaker 2: So I've been to Why May Have Falls? You do
- 22:58Speaker 2: hike there? In quotation marks it's paved.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It's fully paved.
- 23:02Speaker 2: You're not hacking through the jungle.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Well that's funny that you mentioned that, because when they
- 23:07Speaker 3: showed like an aerial shot of that, I was like,
- 23:09Speaker 3: it's fully paved. I was like, that's convenient, but maybe,
- 23:14Speaker 3: I mean, obviously that's what it is in real life.
- 23:16Speaker 1: So yeah, they showed show scenes of them like bushwhacking. Yeah,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I can guarantee you every single person that was with
- 23:25Speaker 1: us was wearing flip flops.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And it was fine. Yeah, Oh that's funny. That's funny.
- 23:30Speaker 1: And my last did you do that is I would
- 23:32Speaker 1: love to have been in wardrobe to see the array
- 23:35Speaker 1: of floral dresses that they found for this woman, because
- 23:38Speaker 1: it was one floral.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Dress after another.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I liked her dresses, but I mean it was they
- 23:43Speaker 1: leaned hard into the floral dress motif. I liked her
- 23:47Speaker 1: dresses a lot. I did too, but it was a
- 23:49Speaker 1: lot of floral dresses, like not a single pair of shorts,
- 23:51Speaker 1: not one. And yeah, yeah, I know she always wore
- 23:55Speaker 1: like a very bright lip too, which is so unhawaii
- 23:59Speaker 1: to me, Like, I don't know, put a.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Gloss on, lady, and that's it for me.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And did you see that?
- 24:05Speaker 2: What did you rate this movie?
- 24:06Speaker 3: I gave it three stars.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I get it too.
- 24:10Speaker 3: I thought it was super enjoyable.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Has this ever happened? I don't think I like the
- 24:15Speaker 1: movie less than you did.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I think my expectations are so low at this point
- 24:21Speaker 3: that I was a little bit surprised that I enjoyed it.
- 24:26Speaker 3: And maybe it's just the space and time that I
- 24:29Speaker 3: am at right now, because I'm going there soon. So yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 3: you know, yes, if I could see that.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Get you excited for your vacation.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Talk to me in January. If I watched this movie,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I would probably hate it. Perhaps I don't know. Perhaps
- 24:44Speaker 1: all right, friends, did you watch you had Me at Aloha?
- 24:47Speaker 1: Are you watching the non Christmas Hallmark movies? I know
- 24:50Speaker 1: we have lots of listeners who are not even Hallmark

- 25:16Speaker 3: And it kept saying like on the island of They're
- 25:19Speaker 3: somewhere remote. I don't know.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I'm just not into it.
- 25:22Speaker 3: There's like a TV show with a similar name, isn't there,
- 25:26Speaker 3: The Bakers. Somebody email us. I know somebody watches it.
- 25:31Speaker 3: It's new on Netflix. I can't remember the name of
