- 2:09Speaker 8: I just saw this, gentlemen, that North Carolina will travel
- 2:15Speaker 8: thirty six hundred miles to Dublin. TCU will travel forty
- 2:20Speaker 8: four hundred miles from their campus this weekend to play
- 2:24Speaker 8: in the rain.
- 2:25Speaker 9: And I predict TCU will destroy.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Them on a soccer pitch. Would you rather be sitting
- 2:30Speaker 4: with Belichick on that fly?
- 2:32Speaker 8: Oh my gosh, we hadn't heard a lot from her lane.
- 2:37Speaker 4: You know that's true.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You got people around him. I think there's two things
- 2:41Speaker 3: going on here.
- 2:42Speaker 8: Either one, his people's had to look you got to
- 2:46Speaker 8: get her off of social media and shut her up.
- 2:49Speaker 8: Or two, this is likely too since we haven't heard anything.
- 2:53Speaker 8: She ain't a picture anymore. I don't know either that
- 2:57Speaker 8: or in I al Dill's fell through. Maybe they found
- 3:00Speaker 8: out what she's transgender or.
- 3:02Speaker 9: Something else.
- 3:05Speaker 8: That was se if she if she was, we'll see
- 3:07Speaker 8: her on the sideline Saturday.
- 3:08Speaker 4: I would like to say this. I don't and I
- 3:11Speaker 4: know the show lacks quality, but you're not going to
- 3:13Speaker 4: get three better shirts.
- 3:16Speaker 8: You guys, You guys are we got great shirts today?
- 3:19Speaker 8: I mean I didn't send out a memo, but we've
- 3:21Speaker 8: done all.
- 3:21Speaker 9: I got the Hawaiian look going looked on.
- 3:25Speaker 8: You've got the Rangers from and I didn't know they
- 3:28Speaker 8: got doing this on Saturday here. Let me ask you
- 3:32Speaker 8: what was it worth? It to get that shirt. No,
- 3:37Speaker 8: because you've got there really early. I would have right
- 3:39Speaker 8: to be one of the ten thousands.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I would have rather gone yesterday, yes, or obviously I guess.
- 3:45Speaker 9: Friday Friday either what Friday was frustrating. I turned it off.
- 3:48Speaker 9: It was right after they blew the lead.
- 3:51Speaker 8: Yeah, and then I got I didn't see it Friday
- 3:54Speaker 8: at all.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So I got notification that Rangers won, and it was like, okay, great, Yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 1: so yeah, we went up there. I had somebody had
- 4:01Speaker 1: given me tickets, and you know they give you tickets usually.
- 4:07Speaker 8: Now, I told my wife because you sent your picture
- 4:10Speaker 8: and I said, man, you're a long way from from
- 4:13Speaker 8: home plate. And I told my wife, well, he obviously
- 4:16Speaker 8: bought those because when people give him tickets, they're always
- 4:20Speaker 8: down at.
- 4:20Speaker 9: Well, we didn't stay there very long.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Okay, you moved out.
- 4:24Speaker 9: We moved out.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Okay, those three hundred level seats are the stairs are steep,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I mean those stairs are steep.
- 4:33Speaker 9: Yeah, and uh yeah, we didn't stay there very long.
- 4:36Speaker 3: You went to old Damon Carter Stadium. Oh yeah, cease,
- 4:39Speaker 3: I know you did.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 8: That was when I was a kid and we used
- 4:44Speaker 8: to go to games. That's scared the living daylights out
- 4:49Speaker 8: of me. They were so like that really, Oh gosh,
- 4:53Speaker 8: it is the second deck you're talking about.
- 4:55Speaker 9: Yeah, it is like straight wow.
- 4:57Speaker 8: I mean I was just as a kid, I was
- 4:59Speaker 8: scared of death of those steps.
- 5:01Speaker 9: But I have befriended a usher at at.
- 5:04Speaker 1: The Globe the sections no way. Yeah, he and I
- 5:09Speaker 1: are pretty tight. So when he had some extra sy
- 5:15Speaker 1: oh he and like I said, yeah, we're we're mutually
- 5:18Speaker 1: beneficial to each other. Okay, no it's not. I'm not
- 5:23Speaker 1: giving the name away either, but it's just what I'm saying.
- 5:25Speaker 1: There's a there's an usher on the one hundred level
- 5:27Speaker 1: who's a good friend of mine.
- 5:29Speaker 8: Okay, So that's first of all, I I applaud you.
- 5:32Speaker 8: That's that's very smart. Second of all, you know, my
- 5:36Speaker 8: friend sent a picture it was all over the internet
- 5:39Speaker 8: this week in the old Arlington Stadium and and and
- 5:41Speaker 8: it just brought so many memories flooding back.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And you you mentioned it's hot, and I went out by.
- 5:47Speaker 8: There was not a hotter place in all of sports
- 5:50Speaker 8: than Old Arlington Stadium.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It was just brutal, and we would get free tickets.
- 5:55Speaker 8: And I've told you this before, but his father worked
- 5:57Speaker 8: at at the Red Coleman's Liquors, and they had box.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Seats, and the Rangers were terrible.
- 6:03Speaker 8: Nobody wanted to go, and we we probably saw sixty
- 6:06Speaker 8: home games that year because you know, we didn't have
- 6:08Speaker 8: anything to do.
- 6:11Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, he could drive over there.
- 6:12Speaker 3: You can drive drive over there.
- 6:14Speaker 8: We we befriended the parking guy to the point that
- 6:18Speaker 8: we just waved him when we drove by. Uh. And
- 6:23Speaker 8: we already had great seats. And we both fell in
- 6:27Speaker 8: love with a pink things salesman that that summer because
- 6:31Speaker 8: she would come around and sell pink things.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And I missed pink things, by the way.
- 6:36Speaker 8: They had him at at six Flags ice creams ice creams.
- 6:42Speaker 3: On a stick.
- 6:45Speaker 8: Yeah, but they were they were pink and and I
- 6:47Speaker 8: don't know what flavor that is.
- 6:49Speaker 3: They were just pink. But man, were they good?
- 6:52Speaker 4: Were orange?
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah? Were orange? They were indmitted there.
- 6:56Speaker 4: They were still the orange.
- 6:57Speaker 3: No, they were fine.
- 7:00Speaker 8: But they invented they invented the ballpark nachos in Arlington
- 7:05Speaker 8: that yeah, with that orange cheese sauce. There was no
- 7:09Speaker 8: cheese in it, but it was a cheese like subes.
- 7:16Speaker 8: And this girl sold pink things and so she may
- 7:21Speaker 8: be dead by now. This was a long She was
- 7:24Speaker 8: our age. Okay, I mean, seriously, I'm.
- 7:27Speaker 9: Not kidding about short skirts.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Okay. She was just beautiful.
- 7:32Speaker 8: And we must have bought ten pink things per game
- 7:37Speaker 8: because we weren't paying for parking. We weren't paying for tickets,
- 7:39Speaker 8: and the pink things were like twenty cents.
- 7:41Speaker 9: Or something back there.
- 7:43Speaker 8: No, we could buy beer, and so, oh man, we
- 7:47Speaker 8: just and this girl just knew kind of it was
- 7:50Speaker 8: like Homer Simpson, the hot dog guy, following him around
- 7:53Speaker 8: with his hot dog cart.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Well, same kind of thing.
- 7:56Speaker 8: This girl just knew where we were sitting, and she
- 7:58Speaker 8: just kind of would sit down, watched the game.
- 8:01Speaker 3: We were ready to buy another pink you know, the.
- 8:03Speaker 9: Games used to start at seven thirty because they were
- 8:05Speaker 9: so hot.
- 8:05Speaker 1: You sell beer, well, we did enough, No, I was
- 8:09Speaker 1: I was only sixteen.
- 8:10Speaker 3: How did you sell people?
- 8:11Speaker 1: Because I didn't actually sell the I wasn't actually selling
- 8:15Speaker 1: to fans.
- 8:16Speaker 9: I was selling to the vendors.
- 8:17Speaker 1: The vendors would come to me, and I had to
- 8:20Speaker 1: keep track of the beer, and so they actually I
- 8:24Speaker 1: sold them the beer and then they went out and
- 8:28Speaker 1: sold it. Ok So I never left the concession are Oh.
- 8:32Speaker 3: So you weren't. You weren't being you weren't able to
- 8:34Speaker 3: watch the game.
- 8:34Speaker 1: So yes, we were yeah TV or we had but
- 8:38Speaker 1: there's two of us, Okay, and we took turns.
- 8:40Speaker 10: Ok.
- 8:40Speaker 4: It was a beer pimp.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but that was only one of the many jobs
- 8:45Speaker 1: I had there. The best job I had was with
- 8:48Speaker 1: Miller Lite. That was when I turned I was nineteen
- 8:51Speaker 1: when I got a job with Miller Light and we
- 8:53Speaker 1: wore those horrific uniforms, polyester. We had every logo. Those
- 8:58Speaker 1: were horrible, well they were, but it was such a
- 9:00Speaker 1: great job because.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Did you wear buttons or logos with the buttons with.
- 9:04Speaker 8: All the logos at a sleeveless vest, right, No, it
- 9:08Speaker 8: was not.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We had sleeves, they had logos, They had all the
- 9:12Speaker 1: Miller products. You had old Milwaukee highlights.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so you had all.
- 9:17Speaker 9: Of them, and but you would change.
- 9:20Speaker 3: The high life. That was pretty good beer ben remember,
- 9:24Speaker 3: I do not know.
- 9:25Speaker 11: But it was a great job because I would change
- 9:27Speaker 11: the kegs in the concession stands. Every one of them
- 9:29Speaker 11: had two keg systems, so you'd go by in between.
- 9:32Speaker 11: Ending is basically I got paid every night to watch
- 9:35Speaker 11: baseball because I would stand just right out outside.
- 9:39Speaker 8: The Let's face it, there weren't many fans, so you
- 9:41Speaker 8: probably weren't terribly busy.
- 9:43Speaker 1: The fans were there, I know, were buying a lot
- 9:45Speaker 1: of beer. They were busy on week yeah, yeah, I
- 9:48Speaker 1: tell you, yeah. And they were buying a lot of beer.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Yeah. Because it was hot. It was very, very always hot.
- 9:53Speaker 9: Yeah, that was good. I want to say.
- 9:55Speaker 1: The beers were like, it's like mid eighties. I remember
- 9:59Speaker 1: coming to the the stadium. The beers were like two
- 10:02Speaker 1: fifty I think.
- 10:03Speaker 9: And I remember coming to the.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Stadium in about eighty five and it was just this
- 10:08Speaker 1: air of excitement.
- 10:09Speaker 9: It was right after the trade deadline, and.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I was so pumped up because the Rangers were just
- 10:14Speaker 1: within about two or three games of first place and
- 10:18Speaker 1: they made this trade.
- 10:19Speaker 9: I was like, this is gonna put them over the time.
- 10:21Speaker 1: They got Harold Bains and they traded a couple of
- 10:23Speaker 1: guys that I've never.
- 10:24Speaker 9: Really heard of it.
- 10:25Speaker 1: One was like Sammy Sosa and one was Wilson Alvarez
- 10:29Speaker 1: and uh it didn't.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Work out very well.
- 10:36Speaker 9: Pretty good player, yeah, but he wasn't that good for.
- 10:38Speaker 4: The for the Rangers.
- 10:40Speaker 3: They forgot out a hit, remember, Yeah, Yeah, here's freak.
- 10:48Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 1: The thing is they sent him to the White Sox
- 10:51Speaker 1: in the white socks actually send the cup.
- 10:54Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean they weren't very smart.
- 10:56Speaker 9: They were stupid too.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and you need to drink a lot two fifty
- 11:01Speaker 4: beer to forget about that.
- 11:03Speaker 1: That was the same summer that was doing landscaping in
- 11:05Speaker 1: the morning, and I had like landscaping too.
- 11:09Speaker 9: He did the landscape in the morning.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I worked to the Rangers games at night, and so
- 11:12Speaker 1: we actually landscaped Bobby Valentine's house and he came out
- 11:16Speaker 1: to look for his newspaper and I told him me
- 11:18Speaker 1: and my friend from high school we worked at the
- 11:21Speaker 1: Rangers stadium and we worked at on the stadium and
- 11:24Speaker 1: he goes, well, y'all, will what time y'all get there.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I was like, well, we usually have to get there
- 11:27Speaker 1: at four thirty for a seven thirty game. He goes, well,
- 11:30Speaker 1: come down to the clubhouse. I'll let I'll tell them that,
- 11:33Speaker 1: you know, come on down. So we were really excited and.
- 11:37Speaker 9: I got to you know, we got there a little early.
- 11:40Speaker 1: We go to the gate, get down to the clubhouse
- 11:43Speaker 1: and I said, hey, we're here to go to the clubhouse.
- 11:46Speaker 9: And the guard goes, who are you? No, you're not,
- 11:49Speaker 9: And I said, well, Bobby Valentine, didn't he tell you
- 11:52Speaker 9: that we were gonna come by?
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:54Speaker 11: Kid?
- 11:55Speaker 9: Right, okay, yeah sure sure. I was like, no, I'm serious.
- 12:01Speaker 9: He really did. Check my name is Rusty Burson. Check
- 12:05Speaker 9: with it, kid, get lost. Wow. So we didn't get
- 12:10Speaker 9: to go to the club.
- 12:10Speaker 13: But as we've discovered before, it's probably best you didn't
- 12:15Speaker 13: get to the go to the clubhouse because you'd have
- 12:18Speaker 13: walked in there and all the players that have been smoking,
- 12:21Speaker 13: and you'd have been going these guys are.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Smoking, and that would have just drink not before.
- 12:28Speaker 9: The games usually maybe usually usually, Well, Di Manage had
- 12:34Speaker 9: l s D. Right, he pitched the whole game?
- 12:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And who was the guy that
- 12:39Speaker 3: went to the catatonic state? Yes the picture, No, no
- 12:44Speaker 3: it wasn't. Doc Ellis was LSD guy too, right? He
- 12:47Speaker 3: claims he threw the no hitter on LST.
- 12:50Speaker 9: Doc Yellis threw the no hitter.
- 12:52Speaker 4: He walked like a hit nine.
- 12:54Speaker 9: I can't remember.
- 12:56Speaker 8: Yeah, who had the catatonic state that they had to
- 12:59Speaker 8: pick up like a statue?
- 13:01Speaker 9: Right?
- 13:02Speaker 13: We've had a lot of characters, yes, and very very
- 13:07Speaker 13: few great players, very few great.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Players, but a lot of characters.
- 13:10Speaker 1: If you look back to those teams though, there they
- 13:12Speaker 1: was they always had a great player, oh always, But
- 13:16Speaker 1: then they were always trading the next year, right. It
- 13:19Speaker 1: was like Brad Corbett just want to think.
- 13:22Speaker 8: I think I enjoyed losing fifteen to eleven more than I, oh,
- 13:28Speaker 8: enjoy two to one every game.
- 13:31Speaker 1: But if you remember the early days, I was in
- 13:33Speaker 1: the stadium before they put the the billboards.
- 13:37Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was That was a picture's park
- 13:39Speaker 9: and it was not a great hitters.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Oh no, not at all.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It wasn't until they put the upper level behind home
- 13:45Speaker 1: play they and then they put the Jet Street.
- 13:48Speaker 9: Yes, and then it was a good hitter's part. But
- 13:51Speaker 9: for a while, like Jeff Burrows didn't want to play there.
- 13:53Speaker 3: It was hot. He won the MVP, he didn't want
- 13:55Speaker 3: to play the balls should have carried because it was hot.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Did you ever see Bobby Valentine again to say like, hey,
- 14:01Speaker 4: they wouldn't let what.
- 14:03Speaker 9: We finished the landscape with. All they had to do
- 14:04Speaker 9: is lay the side so we never have to go back.
- 14:07Speaker 9: I was like I should have gone back and knocked
- 14:09Speaker 9: on his door, like hey, get that guy back.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I remember saging Bro.
- 14:15Speaker 9: I do remember him.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Changing picture. Bobby Witt started a game and he pitched
- 14:20Speaker 1: three innings and he.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Had drew one hundred pitches.
- 14:22Speaker 9: He had no hitter. It was a little league no hitter.
- 14:25Speaker 1: You he either struck out somebody or he walked somebody
- 14:28Speaker 1: every single time, and he had to pull him after
- 14:32Speaker 1: three innings.
- 14:32Speaker 9: I was like, this is totally Bobby Witt.
- 14:35Speaker 3: That was Bobby Witt, Yeah, always.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Who actually later became pretty good. You know, he was
- 14:40Speaker 1: pretty pretty started off pretty wild. And if you remember Rebo,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Jim Rebo had the best line about him and said
- 14:47Speaker 1: wit and wild, welcome to wit and wild.
- 14:51Speaker 9: Across the street. He was, he was, It was wild.
- 14:56Speaker 3: What did the pirates doing?
- 14:57Speaker 4: They were so I was laughing when when you were Talkingcher,
- 15:01Speaker 4: you know, uh, Paul Skins can't pitch anymore. I mean
- 15:05Speaker 4: if you told me that, I know. And they brought
- 15:07Speaker 4: that Ishmael Valdez up and that guy lit it up.
- 15:10Speaker 4: He came up in he's bout in like three oh
- 15:12Speaker 4: seven three, he's down to like one twenty nine.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Then a racher.
- 15:17Speaker 4: He's hit like one holder in the thirty games, struck out.
- 15:21Speaker 4: I forget him. It's like I love reading it. Last
- 15:24Speaker 4: night they go, well, baseball cut up to him. Everybody's
- 15:27Speaker 4: scouting report, you know, and I get it, But how
- 15:29Speaker 4: can you be batting hit like eleven home runs? Yeah
- 15:33Speaker 4: he was three seven, he had eleven home runs out
- 15:37Speaker 4: of like twenty some hits. And now he can't even
- 15:40Speaker 4: buy a hit.
- 15:42Speaker 8: And you know, like I said, the Pirates were in
- 15:45Speaker 8: the third Jo Peterel for his last twenty three.
- 15:48Speaker 4: By the way, what I have to life is now
- 15:50Speaker 4: they're nine and a half out like the last crazy
- 15:53Speaker 4: and there's only like twenty games. And the player player
- 15:56Speaker 4: quote last night, we know we're letting it slip away.
- 15:58Speaker 4: I mean, it's like you're not and a half out third.
- 16:01Speaker 4: That's the reverse Red Sox, by the way, you know,
- 16:03Speaker 4: and you want to go, like just just packed the
- 16:06Speaker 4: season in. Just don't even talk about the playoffs when
- 16:09Speaker 4: you're that bad and that far off, and it's amazing.
- 16:12Speaker 3: You want to be in an aos cease, they'd be
- 16:15Speaker 3: right there.
- 16:15Speaker 4: It'll be three and a half hours.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I'm telling you.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I think we're seven under five hundred now.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Which that's what Seattle is. They're three games back.
- 16:24Speaker 8: Typically I thought Seattle was done, and I'm looking in
- 16:27Speaker 8: their three games back.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I know, I know, you know what you ought to
- 16:32Speaker 1: follow though With the Pirates, young guy who played at
- 16:35Speaker 1: A and M got not very long at an M.
- 16:38Speaker 1: But he actually he got hurt at A and M
- 16:40Speaker 1: Christian Curtis, and so he came up.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Okay, I did see that.
- 16:43Speaker 9: I did see that.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, So he came up briefly and he pitched two
- 16:47Speaker 1: great games. He's got zero tory, so he's pitching really well.
- 16:51Speaker 9: Well.
- 16:51Speaker 1: He happens to be Seth McKinney's future son in law.
- 16:55Speaker 1: So he got engaged at me Ormont.
- 16:58Speaker 9: With Seth mcinn his oldest daughter, and so I've got
- 17:02Speaker 9: to know him. Great guy. And again he played at
- 17:06Speaker 9: A and M. He met Seth's daughter there and then
- 17:09Speaker 9: he went out.
- 17:09Speaker 4: And then you want to play at Arizona State.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Not great numbers, right, But then the Pirates took a
- 17:15Speaker 1: chance on him and he hit his debut.
- 17:18Speaker 9: He would scoreless.
- 17:19Speaker 4: It pitched great two games because that zero's watching it,
- 17:22Speaker 4: and all of a sudden they go he started at
- 17:24Speaker 4: A and M and like, I didn't remember the name,
- 17:25Speaker 4: and I hurry up on either.
- 17:27Speaker 9: I got in the computer but yeah, so they sent
- 17:29Speaker 9: him down because he's pitching two games. He got zero
- 17:31Speaker 9: e l So the parts not getting up to the pirates.
- 17:34Speaker 4: The parts are really loaded.
- 17:36Speaker 9: They are in.
- 17:36Speaker 4: They got a great, great farm system. But you know
- 17:41Speaker 4: it's like Cruise got hurt. He just got back. They
- 17:45Speaker 4: lose their short Stoff who was playing great. Uh O'Hearn
- 17:49Speaker 4: had the ten RBIs he was maybe.
- 17:52Speaker 9: See this is the difference.
- 17:54Speaker 4: This on for ten ten, ten, ten weeks.
- 17:56Speaker 3: This is the difference in.
- 17:57Speaker 8: The teams we follow and the Yankees and other teams
- 18:02Speaker 8: that are always successful, they just they just win.
- 18:05Speaker 1: It looks like history and I hopefully it has a
- 18:07Speaker 1: number one, you know system in all Major League Dodgers.
- 18:11Speaker 9: The Dodgers.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Well, it's like we're home together with with with needles
- 18:15Speaker 4: and pins.
- 18:15Speaker 9: We go to LA.
- 18:16Speaker 4: We lose the first game four to three. We lose
- 18:19Speaker 4: the second game five. We lost the game five to four.
- 18:22Speaker 4: The first game. I'm trying to watch it on game
- 18:23Speaker 4: Truck because I don't want to watch too much because
- 18:25Speaker 4: I get mad too. They're losing four door Harriet. But
- 18:28Speaker 4: then it gets me tied four to four. I go,
- 18:30Speaker 4: I gotta pay attention.
- 18:31Speaker 1: You know what helps me is to listen to the
- 18:33Speaker 1: games while I'm doing yard work, because then I at
- 18:35Speaker 1: least feel productive, Like I will listen to games while
- 18:39Speaker 1: pull weeds, and it's my wife knows.
- 18:41Speaker 9: As soon as the Rangers fall behind, I'm like, I'm
- 18:43Speaker 9: going to pool weeds.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Well, here's the deal of So I'm watching and to
- 18:46Speaker 4: go to the top of the tenth It's four to
- 18:48Speaker 4: four in the first game, and they have a lot
- 18:49Speaker 4: of weeks, they'd won two in a row, and I go, hey,
- 18:51Speaker 4: they win this. And then I'm looking down first and third,
- 18:54Speaker 4: nobody out and I was doing something else. I was
- 18:57Speaker 4: probably working with someone else, and I look down into
- 18:59Speaker 4: the end of four to four. I go, what the
- 19:02Speaker 4: heck happened? So I go, look, they get a hit
- 19:05Speaker 4: to put the guy to third. They strike out the
- 19:08Speaker 4: next batter, so then yeah, they intentionally walk intentionally walk Cruise,
- 19:13Speaker 4: who hit a two run homer, sure enough to get
- 19:15Speaker 4: a double play. I go like, how can you intentionally
- 19:17Speaker 4: walk a guy in the tenth inning? All he needs
- 19:19Speaker 4: a fly ball and they don't do it.
- 19:21Speaker 9: Hey, I heard you, Doug and Skip for not walking Jordan. Yes,
- 19:26Speaker 9: but I will say that he did. I liked what
- 19:29Speaker 9: he did yesterday. He walked Mike Trout tonight. How many Hey,
- 19:36Speaker 9: it's too late.
- 19:37Speaker 8: No, Mike Trout has killed us this year, but their
- 19:41Speaker 8: first Drea King killed but he finally.
- 19:44Speaker 9: Figured it out. And you know what I'm listening.
- 19:48Speaker 8: Maybe it's yesterday, the day before and we've talked about
- 19:51Speaker 8: this before. Do you know that Mike Trout has the
- 19:53Speaker 8: second most home runs ever against the Rangers, behind Reggie Jackson.
- 19:58Speaker 13: Not he'd passed Reggie Jackson. Has not past Reggie Jackson yet.
- 20:01Speaker 13: He may have passed him this weekend before he decided
- 20:04Speaker 13: to walk him.
- 20:07Speaker 9: I didn't want to. I thought he had passed it.
- 20:09Speaker 13: I know he's still right there. In second I'm not
- 20:13Speaker 13: sure they play again, so maybe next year.
- 20:15Speaker 9: They don't play again this year?
- 20:16Speaker 4: Okay, Well what I hate about my parents losing this year?
- 20:19Speaker 4: The last few years, I don't pay attention. So now
- 20:21Speaker 4: I know who all the players are. It's even more
- 20:23Speaker 4: frustrating because you know they should be better than what
- 20:26Speaker 4: they are, but they're not.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:28Speaker 8: So also, yesterday was was and this is a long
- 20:33Speaker 8: way around, but yesterday we got time. I know, yes
- 20:37Speaker 8: yesterday was the fed FedEx Cup, right, Okay, but week two.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Next week's the final. So they're in Saint Louis.
- 20:45Speaker 8: So they keep showing aerial photos of the arch and
- 20:50Speaker 8: the stadium. This is a joke, I'm not making fun
- 20:55Speaker 8: of PTSD, but every time they showed that stadium, I
- 21:00Speaker 8: just had I broke out in cold chills and I
- 21:03Speaker 8: had to leave the room.
- 21:05Speaker 9: It's the world serious, it's the worst.
- 21:09Speaker 8: It's it's it's still by far the worst feeling I've
- 21:12Speaker 8: ever had in sports ever, and and the second place
- 21:17Speaker 8: is not even close.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I can't even watch I can't even.
- 21:20Speaker 8: Look at that stadium. It just makes me break out
- 21:23Speaker 8: in hives and sweat and cry.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Well, I have some I mean, you know, because A
- 21:30Speaker 1: and M has given me a few of those moments,
- 21:33Speaker 1: Like I just never have really gotten over the Memphis game.
- 21:39Speaker 9: In San Antonio.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Basketball, A Law breaks away Missillia.
- 21:44Speaker 4: They moved, they moved the rim on.
- 21:46Speaker 9: The missisi that that was gonna win the game.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And then they matched up really well the next game
- 21:53Speaker 1: with Ohio State because and him had two big guys
- 21:57Speaker 1: to Ohio State, and I just I just knew that
- 22:00Speaker 1: that was the team that's going to get to the
- 22:02Speaker 1: file far and they were good.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Enough yeah, they were good enough and it doesn't happen often.
- 22:07Speaker 9: The best player in the history of the school, Miss Phillia.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Just yeah, and they had one of their better coaches.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I mean they have all they had.
- 22:19Speaker 1: The fans say nine baseball team, Well that's I mean,
- 22:23Speaker 1: if you if despite this being a football community, if
- 22:29Speaker 1: you took a poll that that.
- 22:30Speaker 9: That's got to be in the top three, how did
- 22:32Speaker 9: you mention football?
- 22:33Speaker 8: I'm saying that if you were at eighty nine series
- 22:38Speaker 8: that Sunday afternoon doubleheader, I mean.
- 22:45Speaker 9: Because the football team I haven't followed him when.
- 22:48Speaker 14: They staying in crowd in any sport, if you were
- 22:52Speaker 14: there that day, you're right, Chip because m knew they're
- 22:56Speaker 14: going to win, of course, and they were.
- 22:59Speaker 3: So good for no reason for him not to and
- 23:01Speaker 3: then they're gonna win.
- 23:02Speaker 9: Oh and then you know for the.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Reporters, you've got to go talk to Mark Johnson and
- 23:06Speaker 4: them and you you know.
- 23:08Speaker 8: They just were kicked in the gut so bad that
- 23:11Speaker 8: was That was like the Kansas State locker room ins
- 23:14Speaker 8: in Saint Louis.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Bill Family.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, football, you have to kind of go back to
- 23:23Speaker 1: seventy five, probably in the Arkansas game because and M.
- 23:27Speaker 9: Had it all laid out. They did, and so that
- 23:30Speaker 9: the fact that Arkansas that game had changed.
- 23:33Speaker 1: The television television killed them, did they They played, They
- 23:36Speaker 1: beat Texas and now they had to kill to Arkansas.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Arkansas just rolled them in the second half, and Frank
- 23:42Speaker 1: Brawle said, I knew it as soon as as soon
- 23:44Speaker 1: as that game got moved, I knew we're gonna win
- 23:47Speaker 1: and that that team could have easily.
- 23:49Speaker 9: Won the Nationals.
- 23:50Speaker 1: That was good, But no other team has A and
- 23:52Speaker 1: M ever had since then that they You know, there
- 23:56Speaker 1: was that one game that just absolutely broke your heart
- 24:00Speaker 1: that they were gonna win the national championship. I just
- 24:03Speaker 1: you know, in hindsight twenty twelve, had they beaten Florida
- 24:08Speaker 1: or LSU, they probably would.
- 24:10Speaker 9: Have won the National Championship. But you didn't know that
- 24:12Speaker 9: at the time.
- 24:13Speaker 4: Yeah, very true. When they lost that Florida game, first
- 24:16Speaker 4: SEC game, no big deal. They're in a big league. Yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 4: you don't know how good the heck of a game.
- 24:23Speaker 9: The Florida.
- 24:25Speaker 4: For Florida, you know, but you're right those situations seventy five,
- 24:29Speaker 4: that team just ran over people and they had the defense.
- 24:33Speaker 4: You couldn't do anything. They had and they had to
- 24:37Speaker 4: good accident special teams. They had the front the ball,
- 24:41Speaker 4: but they didn't have to because they got so far
- 24:42Speaker 4: ahead and everybody.
- 24:43Speaker 9: But that Kurse Dickey and they would know they had
- 24:46Speaker 9: ever I mean they had, they has had it all.
- 24:48Speaker 1: There was no weaknesses on that seventy five team, especially defensively.
- 24:53Speaker 8: So now that we're going back to the old aggie teams, Uh,
- 24:58Speaker 8: we're going to take a break. But I want to
- 24:59Speaker 8: talk about rc statue coming up in a couple of weeks.

- 30:08Speaker 3: I hope it doesn't melt. Pretty cool deal.
- 30:12Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, you know, deserved, I mean just totally well deserved. Right.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Oh yeah. Well, My thoughts are when you think of
- 30:21Speaker 4: A and M, you think of RC for a lot
- 30:25Speaker 4: of reasons, just because like he represents you know, the school.
- 30:30Speaker 20: What have you?
- 30:31Speaker 4: Longtime defensive coordinator down to earth guy. And you think
- 30:36Speaker 4: about his time as special to the President when what's
- 30:42Speaker 4: his face, Gates let him go. Whatever you think about
- 30:45Speaker 4: the inter ad, he's always been there when A and
- 30:49Speaker 4: M needed him.
- 30:49Speaker 9: Well, he's always been there, even before he was a
- 30:51Speaker 9: head coach.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Yeah, he was saying that.
- 30:53Speaker 9: The fact is, you know, he came here in nineteen
- 30:55Speaker 9: seventy two and he left one year and it came
- 30:59Speaker 9: back right.
- 31:00Speaker 1: So, I mean he had been on Emery Blard staff
- 31:03Speaker 1: and he was he was the kind of the father
- 31:05Speaker 1: of the wrecking crew. He was that those teams that
- 31:08Speaker 1: were so great under Jackie. They were great primarily because
- 31:12Speaker 1: the defense was flying around and then you know, A
- 31:15Speaker 1: and M was in danger of the death penalty and
- 31:18Speaker 1: they needed somebody to give hip.
- 31:22Speaker 8: Remember him stepping again as the term coach against TCU
- 31:26Speaker 8: and all of that stuff was around.
- 31:30Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and he guided in them through some very difficult
- 31:33Speaker 1: probation of his own back in like ninety three. I
- 31:36Speaker 1: remember they played Oklahoma and they just got blown out
- 31:40Speaker 1: of Oklahoma because the day before came out of A
- 31:42Speaker 1: and M was going to be on probation. The next year,
- 31:45Speaker 1: like in ninety four, they went ten oh and one.
- 31:47Speaker 1: But they couldn't go to Bowlgain, they couldn't even be
- 31:49Speaker 1: on TV. And now I mean because they were paying
- 31:53Speaker 1: guys to you know, sleep for it.
- 31:56Speaker 9: That was not him.
- 31:57Speaker 4: That was the before, Yeah, going up to Gilbert or whatever.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Four and three won the conference that year totally. Yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 4: like five t's before and.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Three Yeah, right, And you know in Texas Tech got
- 32:08Speaker 1: blown out in the copbo usc I remember that year.
- 32:10Speaker 4: There's a lot of great thing you can say about RC.
- 32:12Speaker 4: But the guy, the way the guy can spend a story. Also,
- 32:16Speaker 4: like if you ask him how he came to in
- 32:18Speaker 4: him and he talks about that story, that's such a
- 32:21Speaker 4: great story.
- 32:21Speaker 3: And he you know, because he's got a great.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Way about So he was part of those early days
- 32:29Speaker 1: of Emory actually going out to recruit for the first time,
- 32:33Speaker 1: and he was with black athletes like I mean literally
- 32:36Speaker 1: Bubba Bean.
- 32:36Speaker 9: Bubba Bean.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that that He'll tell you the story about Bubba
- 32:40Speaker 4: Bean was at his brother's hiuse having a barbecue, right,
- 32:43Speaker 4: you know, and it gets called and says, hey, you
- 32:45Speaker 4: know we need Bubba Bean. Baby you're on staff. And
- 32:48Speaker 4: he brings against Bubba Bean.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And you know, he's still just such a legend in
- 32:54Speaker 1: this community. And so I mean, he's so beloved by
- 32:57Speaker 1: everybody that you know. And again because he is in
- 33:01Speaker 1: bodied Texas A and M for so many decades.
- 33:03Speaker 8: Right, you know I've said this before, but he had
- 33:07Speaker 8: opportunities to coach after he was fired here and thought
- 33:11Speaker 8: seriously about all of those opportunities, and.
- 33:17Speaker 3: The longer he went, and the more.
- 33:21Speaker 8: Problems the football program had trying to win our seed,
- 33:27Speaker 8: just got to be a better and better and better coach.
- 33:31Speaker 8: And he was a great coach. He won one hundred
- 33:35Speaker 8: and seventy two games for text A M. He was
- 33:38Speaker 8: a great coach.
- 33:39Speaker 9: Well, think about it.
- 33:39Speaker 8: The longer it went went after he was fired, the
- 33:43Speaker 8: better he looked right right right, because they could never.
- 33:46Speaker 4: They're always going to get the guy and take him
- 33:48Speaker 4: the next level. How'd that go? Dennis French? Only?
- 33:50Speaker 9: How did that go?
- 33:51Speaker 4: Mike Sherman?
- 33:51Speaker 3: How did that go?
- 33:52Speaker 9: Kevin?
- 33:52Speaker 3: Someone?
- 33:53Speaker 9: Right?
- 33:53Speaker 8: Not? Well? Not?
- 33:54Speaker 12: Well?
- 33:54Speaker 9: No, And like I said, is Jimbo Fisher?
- 33:57Speaker 4: Yeah, you talked to him so down earthways, Well no,
- 34:00Speaker 4: I called that rascal or you know whatever.
- 34:02Speaker 9: You know.
- 34:02Speaker 4: I mean, he's always and I forget who I called
- 34:05Speaker 4: him recently, Like within three months. I think someone passed
- 34:08Speaker 4: to whatever you call him, he gives you exactly what
- 34:11Speaker 4: you need. I mean, he and I go, you're great
- 34:13Speaker 4: to talk to you, Rcie, because you just you know,
- 34:15Speaker 4: he answers the phone at any time, you know, he's off,
- 34:17Speaker 4: coming off a golf course or what have you. He
- 34:20Speaker 4: just embodies A and M. Everybody at A and M
- 34:24Speaker 4: should be like that.
- 34:26Speaker 9: We talked about Louie and I talked about this.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Imagine had he been better record in bowl games, how
- 34:32Speaker 1: much national attention would have been on him because that
- 34:35Speaker 1: was the only thing.
- 34:36Speaker 4: He wasn't able to die, that was the one thing.
- 34:38Speaker 9: You're right, because he only won three bowl games.
- 34:41Speaker 1: And had he been able to beat you know, Ohio
- 34:44Speaker 1: State and the Sugar Bowl, or had he been able
- 34:46Speaker 1: to beat Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl like one
- 34:48Speaker 1: out of those two years, or beat Florida State and
- 34:50Speaker 1: the Cotton bowls first, just you know, that would have
- 34:54Speaker 1: put I think A M on a whole new level,
- 34:57Speaker 1: because remember, the bowl games were a.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Big d that there, that was that was like, that
- 35:03Speaker 4: was your playoffs, that was your playoff. You're going to
- 35:05Speaker 4: have a I gonna remember this year. It doesn't matter
- 35:07Speaker 4: if you're ten and two, you're gonna be eleven or
- 35:10Speaker 4: two or whatever. And you're right, you know that that
- 35:13Speaker 4: was That was the one thing the Bowl games. But
- 35:17Speaker 4: another thing he did very well. He really could could
- 35:21Speaker 4: not a judge talent of players, assistance, some of the
- 35:25Speaker 4: assistants he hired. He hired great assistants and let them coach,
- 35:30Speaker 4: just like every blard and let him coach.
- 35:33Speaker 9: Yeah, Bob daty, I mean obviously comes to mind, and
- 35:37Speaker 9: I mean just.
- 35:37Speaker 8: I would also argue that he was he was up
- 35:40Speaker 8: against it because he had been passed so badly in
- 35:44Speaker 8: facilities back then.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that that's you know, I blamed, you know it
- 35:49Speaker 4: all help I tell people, you don't realize he was
- 35:52Speaker 4: winning there at the end when other schools had more facilities,
- 35:57Speaker 4: more money, given whatever, and eventually come up to for
- 36:00Speaker 4: assistant coach. He was such a good coach. But it's
- 36:04Speaker 4: like anything else. Hey, I'll give you twice what you're
- 36:06Speaker 4: going to am go lsu baby waite me.
- 36:09Speaker 1: You just think about those guys like Toledo and Davy
- 36:11Speaker 1: and those guys who went.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Out to coach Collings head.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Uh, you know that's talk about head coaches. You know,
- 36:17Speaker 1: and so he he was uh yeah, he had a
- 36:20Speaker 1: great way of hiring guys. He always had great assistance.
- 36:24Speaker 9: And you know, unfortunately they couldn't keep him all this
- 36:26Speaker 9: ear so that was the big problem.
- 36:28Speaker 8: There was a lot of turnover, Yeah there was, you know,
- 36:30Speaker 8: because they went that's what I mean. There are no
- 36:33Speaker 8: fault of his own. There was a lot of turnovers.
- 36:35Speaker 8: Hard hard to but but there was one constant and
- 36:39Speaker 8: he kept winning.
- 36:39Speaker 4: And that's why you really have to be here to
- 36:42Speaker 4: understand because the love heierre going like, oh, looks he
- 36:44Speaker 4: didn't win those ball games, you know, no, no, and
- 36:46Speaker 4: you go like he was playing, he was playing his
- 36:49Speaker 4: deck of cards didn't have any high cards. He was
- 36:51Speaker 4: he was hitting the right low cards time after time.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Well, there were some really close losses. The Floor State game,
- 36:58Speaker 1: it was that brutally cole wearrible is terrible. And the
- 37:02Speaker 1: second Notre Dame game was such a great game. The
- 37:06Speaker 1: first one was like twenty eight three, but the very
- 37:08Speaker 1: next year a m had a great chance to win
- 37:10Speaker 1: that game and.
- 37:11Speaker 9: Just couldn't couldn't get over the top.
- 37:13Speaker 8: There.
- 37:15Speaker 3: All right, we're gonna take a break.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Nice nice statue too, though, by the way it looks
- 37:19Speaker 4: I think.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I've seen it.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Well, I just saw a pictures of it. Oh you did.
- 37:21Speaker 4: I think that's pretty good.
- 37:22Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, uh, because sometimes it doesn't look at all
- 37:25Speaker 8: like the person they're supposed to.
- 37:27Speaker 4: When when when that Brian broadcast gets your statue chip
- 37:30Speaker 4: on front of here, it'll look just like Louis.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I don't want to statue.
- 37:38Speaker 8: We'll be back the Writers round Table presented by First
- 37:41Speaker 8: Financial Bank and in Tech.
- 37:43Speaker 3: We've got the Rangers report.
- 37:45Speaker 21: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 37:47Speaker 21: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then
- 37:50Speaker 21: I found Shorlty Roofing and point.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I'm glad I did.
- 37:52Speaker 21: The folks at Shulty guided me every step of the way.
- 37:55Speaker 21: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 37:58Speaker 21: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 38:01Speaker 21: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They
- 38:04Speaker 21: took off the damage roof, put on the new roof,
- 38:06Speaker 21: did all the cleanup, and I had my new roof
- 38:08Speaker 21: in one day, the whole.
- 38:13Speaker 10: By the roof.
- 38:16Speaker 9: I'm Adam C.

- 39:09Speaker 22: second inning, kicked off by an Ezekiel durand solo blast.
- 39:14Speaker 19: Kokuchi kicks and fires, and this pitch is hit high
- 39:16Speaker 19: and deep out in the left field, Ken Pero going back.
- 39:19Speaker 9: This has a shot. It is gone call.
- 39:22Speaker 22: Courtesy of Matt Hicks and the Rangers Radio Network. The
- 39:25Speaker 22: Rangers would tack on two more runs in the fifth

- 39:31Speaker 9: In the eighth.
- 39:32Speaker 22: The Rangers held on for the win. The Rangers begin

- 40:24Speaker 3: who won't find a hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Bet Welcome back.
- 40:32Speaker 8: Rangers Reports brought to you by Shulti Riffing and the
- 40:34Speaker 8: Decker Financial Group. Pat forty has a has a kind
- 40:39Speaker 8: of a pregame checklist with lots of stats and lots
- 40:44Speaker 8: of schedules, and and I'll make my predictions tomorrow.
- 40:48Speaker 3: But and I talked to Phil Steele about this.
- 40:51Speaker 8: Every year you have to look at teams schedules in
- 40:55Speaker 8: my mind when you're at least you know and you
- 40:59Speaker 8: never know how that's going to work out. We thought
- 41:02Speaker 8: last year A and M schedule was going to be
- 41:04Speaker 8: really really difficult. Does it turned out it wasn't nearly
- 41:07Speaker 8: as difficult as it was on paper entering the year, right.
- 41:10Speaker 8: We think this year's schedule is going to be even
- 41:12Speaker 8: more difficult, right, And so you don't know until that
- 41:19Speaker 8: plays out. But here are the teams that are playing
- 41:23Speaker 8: only nine Power Conference opponents. Okay, they only have nine
- 41:29Speaker 8: Power Conference opponents out of.
- 41:30Speaker 3: The twelve.
- 41:32Speaker 8: Arizona, Houston, Indiana, Kansas State, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas Tech,
- 41:40Speaker 8: USC Washington.
- 41:45Speaker 9: And you're talking about a couple of playoff teams.
- 41:47Speaker 3: There, absolutely Indiana and Texas Tech for sure.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Okay, tex Tech's only got one game that they Houston
- 41:56Speaker 1: and BYU.
- 41:57Speaker 8: I guess again, you don't know what you're getting from
- 42:01Speaker 8: the committee because before last year it's like, oh, yeah,
- 42:05Speaker 8: these games, these games are going to take more weight.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Was it turns out they don't. It's just number of wins, right.
- 42:11Speaker 8: And so if I'm these guys and they're and all
- 42:14Speaker 8: these coaches and athletic directors are rethinking they're scheduling now,
- 42:19Speaker 8: it's like, why would we play Ohio State it?
- 42:22Speaker 3: You know, we're not getting.
- 42:24Speaker 8: Anything for it, especially if you lose. Right, you're telling
- 42:29Speaker 8: me I should get something for it for playing.
- 42:31Speaker 3: But but you're not right.
- 42:34Speaker 8: So if I'm Signetty, it's like, why will shot? Why
- 42:38Speaker 8: would I play these games?
- 42:40Speaker 9: Well?
- 42:40Speaker 1: And that's why I think eventually you have to get
- 42:43Speaker 1: on the same page. And because the nine game schedule
- 42:48Speaker 1: that's tough. I mean the conference schedule, nine games for
- 42:51Speaker 1: the for the SEC, that's that's brutal.
- 42:53Speaker 4: I agree with everything he said, but we're dealing in
- 42:57Speaker 4: a sport where the rules change every day. It's just
- 43:00Speaker 4: like the Cleveland Brown tight end coming back to LSU.
- 43:04Speaker 4: But and I actually laughed out and I heard read
- 43:07Speaker 4: about it last night because there's hardly any rules in
- 43:11Speaker 4: college football and they just change them tomorrow.
- 43:15Speaker 9: Problem.
- 43:15Speaker 8: Hey, Ryan Day has already come out today and goes, Hey,
- 43:18Speaker 8: if it's if they're gonna let us do it, I'm
- 43:20Speaker 8: gonna do it.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Oh I know you can't blame them, but because there's
- 43:24Speaker 4: no rules, no rules, and then rust you hit on too.
- 43:27Speaker 4: I think if they keep it the way it is
- 43:30Speaker 4: man the years in a SEC and even the Big ten,
- 43:35Speaker 4: and when I think they eventually have to go, you
- 43:37Speaker 4: either have to have all eight game schedule or nine
- 43:40Speaker 4: game league schedule. And if you go with the nine,
- 43:42Speaker 4: the years that you gotta play five road games, that
- 43:45Speaker 4: extra road game is gone end up costing you. It's
- 43:47Speaker 4: so tough to play when you're in this league and
- 43:50Speaker 4: you gotta go one more time the A and M
- 43:52Speaker 4: or Texas or Oklahoma or Alabama or Georgia.
- 43:56Speaker 3: That's that's asking a lot in the best league.
- 43:59Speaker 4: And it's like you said, Chip, then they give another
- 44:01Speaker 4: loss to those teams and then we'll take Useton at
- 44:04Speaker 4: thirteen and one or twelve and one.
- 44:06Speaker 3: There's only nine.
- 44:09Speaker 8: Power teams that are not playing an FCS opponent Okay, Michigan,
- 44:16Speaker 8: Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas, UCLA,
- 44:23Speaker 8: and usc SO.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Texas and Oklahoma are.
- 44:27Speaker 8: The only two SEC schools that are not playing an
- 44:32Speaker 8: FCS opponent.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Okay, which.
- 44:37Speaker 8: Again with nine games cease now on the schedule site,
- 44:41Speaker 8: you better schedule a few of those.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Yeah, When you look at A and M schedule and
- 44:44Speaker 4: you're saying, like, oh my gosh, those road games. If
- 44:48Speaker 4: they go three and two, it would be in last year,
- 44:52Speaker 4: you can say I thought that schedule would get them.
- 44:55Speaker 4: That being said, if they don't beat Notre Dame on
- 44:57Speaker 4: one play, it's not a good You might have killed
- 45:00Speaker 4: them if you lose that Notre Ing game. They gained
- 45:02Speaker 4: a lot of confidence over that noted En game. And
- 45:04Speaker 4: if they lose that game, that might change the whole season.
- 45:07Speaker 3: And you go do this on five times. If you're
- 45:09Speaker 3: A and M, it's tough.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think it's some point in time you're
- 45:15Speaker 1: gonna have to say, look, if you've made any money
- 45:17Speaker 1: in the NFL, you cannot come back.
- 45:19Speaker 9: I mean, it's just ridiculous because.
- 45:21Speaker 8: The reality is you start looking at when we saw
- 45:24Speaker 8: it basketball, that put an end to it, right, They
- 45:26Speaker 8: overturned it.
- 45:27Speaker 4: So they'll change the rules, keep changing.
- 45:29Speaker 8: Well, they'll have to get a judge to do it, okay,
- 45:32Speaker 8: if they care. We hadn't heard anything from Sankey.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Yet on this deal right now.
- 45:37Speaker 4: He's see them too bad.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but he hasn't spoken out.
- 45:41Speaker 8: Okay, no one of substance of leadership has spoken out yet.
- 45:47Speaker 8: They may be on the scenes trying to hire a
- 45:49Speaker 8: really good attorney. I don't know, but at least if
- 45:53Speaker 8: you're doing that to me, you come out and say no,
- 45:56Speaker 8: we our league won't put up with this. But and
- 46:01Speaker 8: you'll have to say we're willing to go to court
- 46:03Speaker 8: because you know you're going to have to write. You
- 46:05Speaker 8: know you're going to have to go to court because
- 46:07Speaker 8: everyone's got a lawyer.
- 46:08Speaker 4: Now you got you, because like you said, Day said,
- 46:10Speaker 4: they're going to do it. So if this guy can't
- 46:12Speaker 4: go to oh to LS, you and he ends up
- 46:15Speaker 4: at Ohio State and they win a national championship, begins
- 46:17Speaker 4: staying and gets somebody Texas or Oklahoma a and go
- 46:21Speaker 4: say we should have had that guy, but big because
- 46:24Speaker 4: he said but as.
- 46:24Speaker 8: I said, I don't think there's any SEC teams that
- 46:29Speaker 8: would want to take a Cleveland brown player that isn't
- 46:32Speaker 8: good enough to play for the Cleveland Browns.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Well, but.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Is we know that Marcel read is making three point
- 46:42Speaker 1: something million dollars. Yeah, Well, if you go into the
- 46:45Speaker 1: NFL and you look at the guys who are making
- 46:48Speaker 1: less than Marcel read it's a long list. Oh yeah,
- 46:52Speaker 1: it's I mean, let me read some of these guys.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Carson Wentz, case Keenum, I mean, Trey Lance, Drew Locke,
- 47:00Speaker 1: Tyler Mury, Kyle Allen, Kyler Murray. I mean there's guys
- 47:04Speaker 1: who are making you know. So the reality is these
- 47:07Speaker 1: guys are making more money a lot of cases in
- 47:10Speaker 1: college than they are in the NFL. Smith, little Barcel
- 47:15Speaker 1: Reid will be making three million dollars in the NFL.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I mean, I hope I'm wrong for his sake.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why those guys are going to stay in college.
- 47:22Speaker 9: Right.
- 47:22Speaker 4: You know, if you look Smith, the wide receiver, I
- 47:24Speaker 4: mean he's making ungodly money. He might be the highest
- 47:28Speaker 4: played college players a wide receiver.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I mean, I mean he's falling a long way, but
- 47:33Speaker 1: I mean he's making one point three million. And I
- 47:35Speaker 1: mean in college that guy would have been making five five.
- 47:38Speaker 4: And now they're trying to let take you guys stay
- 47:40Speaker 4: for five years for that same reason. See No to
- 47:42Speaker 4: me is they're gonna get roles for everybody because you
- 47:47Speaker 4: can't have it. These guys can stay five years and
- 47:49Speaker 4: the freshmen aren't going to get a chance to play
- 47:52Speaker 4: shed Or Sanders.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Has made one point one in the NFL. I know
- 47:56Speaker 1: he made more than that. He would have made more
- 47:58Speaker 1: than that this year in Colorado.
- 48:01Speaker 4: You make more money in Colorado.
- 48:02Speaker 9: There's no doubt.
- 48:04Speaker 4: It's it's just amen. I just can't wait till the
- 48:08Speaker 4: games get here. So I watch the games, not here
- 48:10Speaker 4: about all this stuff, you know, to get them out
- 48:12Speaker 4: on the field.
- 48:12Speaker 9: Because Cleveland Browns make great they make news for such
- 48:16Speaker 9: great things.
- 48:17Speaker 3: The name Watson is a starter and they lose their
- 48:20Speaker 3: tied into l s U. What are they thinking?
- 48:23Speaker 9: God?
- 48:24Speaker 3: Okay, so brown let me.
- 48:26Speaker 9: Feel really good about being a Rangers fan.
- 48:29Speaker 4: There you go, just to get you a Ranger fan.
- 48:33Speaker 3: At least we're not in Cleveland.
- 48:35Speaker 8: Arizona State plays a nine am body clock game against
- 48:42Speaker 8: the Aggies on the twelfth.
- 48:43Speaker 9: Right.
- 48:45Speaker 3: A week later they fly back.
- 48:48Speaker 8: They have another nine am game against Kansas in London.
- 48:54Speaker 21: So they go.
- 48:55Speaker 4: They gotta go to London, back to back.
- 48:57Speaker 3: They're leaving here to go to London. They're not going
- 49:01Speaker 3: to go home.
- 49:03Speaker 4: Their personal tutors will be with them. You don't have
- 49:05Speaker 4: to miss saying school time, school, Yeah, school, I talked
- 49:09Speaker 4: about school.
- 49:10Speaker 3: I haven't. I haven't heard that mentioned.
- 49:12Speaker 9: And how long I don't know.
- 49:15Speaker 3: It's been a while from Kyle Field to what's the
- 49:18Speaker 3: place in London because most of most of these guys
- 49:20Speaker 3: aren't in classes.
- 49:24Speaker 1: So my daughter is part of a group that took
- 49:26Speaker 1: the student athletes a Texas, A and M, the new
- 49:28Speaker 1: student athletes in Texas have took them around campus and
- 49:31Speaker 1: strive teaching traditions, so they're you know.
- 49:34Speaker 4: And she was like, show them where the bank was.
- 49:36Speaker 9: She was like, all these people.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Were from all these different states, and it's like but
- 49:41Speaker 1: they were like, okay, well fine, that's fine the tradition.
- 49:45Speaker 9: Okay, but I'm only going to be here for a year.
- 49:49Speaker 4: It's like, okay, I don't need to change my driver's license,
- 49:55Speaker 4: change my bank.
- 49:56Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, it's like whatever.
- 49:58Speaker 8: Uh.
- 49:59Speaker 3: The off September schedule among power schools l.
- 50:04Speaker 4: S U oh, they play Ole Miss, no thing.
- 50:07Speaker 3: They open with Clemson and they play.
- 50:09Speaker 8: They open with Clemson, they play Old Miss on the nineteenth,
- 50:13Speaker 8: and they host.
- 50:14Speaker 3: A and M on the twenty sixth.
- 50:15Speaker 9: But are they going to have somebody with number five?
- 50:18Speaker 9: I mean that is awesome, That is awesome.
- 50:22Speaker 8: Do you see you see you know well, actually they
- 50:24Speaker 8: were supposed to play five games in the month of September,
- 50:27Speaker 8: but they kind of.
- 50:28Speaker 16: The four.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Because Daniels five guys is now four guys that want to.
- 50:38Speaker 3: That's crazy, man, that's just And you read it was
- 50:41Speaker 3: his mother.
- 50:42Speaker 4: That's what I love. It was his mother.
- 50:44Speaker 3: She's the one that did it.
- 50:45Speaker 4: Is like it was just Michael Jackson all over again.
- 50:48Speaker 9: I mean I didn't know.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I read that, and I go like, that is
- 50:51Speaker 4: so so handsome.
- 50:53Speaker 9: You're saying Daniels had nothing to do with it.
- 50:56Speaker 4: It doesn't sound like it.
- 50:58Speaker 9: And I got to tell my mom's to shut up.
- 51:00Speaker 9: That's like, Mom, let's don't go there.
- 51:03Speaker 4: But you think about all the things we're talking about
- 51:05Speaker 4: in college football. It's not about football. It's just really sad,
- 51:09Speaker 4: really have such a good game out there, and we're
- 51:12Speaker 4: talking about.
- 51:14Speaker 1: You know, we're talking about right now because it's the
- 51:17Speaker 1: off season. Are we still gonna be talking about Hope not.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I hope not to, I mean, but probably. I mean
- 51:25Speaker 1: the last few years we've had to well you.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Got to talk about the college football playoff because that
- 51:29Speaker 4: hasn't been decided, so they'll be talking about that.
- 51:31Speaker 18: You know.
- 51:32Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm looking forward to the games actually being played
- 51:35Speaker 9: in the SEC.
- 51:36Speaker 8: Just one fourth of the league has league road games
- 51:40Speaker 8: on consecutive weeks. If Vanderbilt has to go to Auburn
- 51:44Speaker 8: and Georgia, Texas goes to Missouri and LSU, Alabama goes
- 51:49Speaker 8: to LSU Vanderbilt, LSU goes to Tennessee and Arkansas. Zero
- 51:55Speaker 8: SEC teams have multiple open date disadvantages where one team's
- 52:00Speaker 8: coming off an open date.
- 52:02Speaker 9: One is good.
- 52:03Speaker 4: That's good, that's good.
- 52:04Speaker 9: They needed to fix that.
- 52:05Speaker 8: That's being fixed again with a nine game league schedule.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Stuff to do. Several things need to be.
- 52:13Speaker 8: One third of the Big Ten has league road games
- 52:16Speaker 8: on consecutive weeks, and more than half the Big Twelve
- 52:20Speaker 8: has league road games on consecutive weeks. So it's just
- 52:26Speaker 8: interesting how all these schedules play out, and they're all
- 52:30Speaker 8: all of this is going to make a difference, right,
- 52:33Speaker 8: I mean, it's it's all going to make a difference for.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Those three or four teams. In Missister college football.
- 52:39Speaker 8: There are ten instances of Power four teams playing road
- 52:44Speaker 8: games at non Power four teams. Oklahoma State goes to Tulsa's.
- 52:50Speaker 8: We know from previous experience here that's a mistake.
- 52:54Speaker 4: Yess, Oklahoma State, I've seen that before.
- 52:57Speaker 8: Penn State is at Temple, Maryland at Yukon, Tech at
- 53:02Speaker 8: Oregon State, b y U at Colorado State, Houston at
- 53:08Speaker 8: Georgia Southern oh I would do that.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I would never do that.
- 53:13Speaker 8: Arizona at Washington State, Syracuse at Yukon, Cal at UNLV,
- 53:21Speaker 8: and North Carol. Yukon has home games against three Power
- 53:26Speaker 8: four teams Maryland, Syracuse, and North Carolina.
- 53:31Speaker 4: And you could argue all three of those aren't good
- 53:33Speaker 4: power for conference, but still understand that's that's crazy.
- 53:40Speaker 3: I'm going to be interested in seeing schedules going forward. Yeah,
- 53:45Speaker 3: weardy's seen quite a few teams changing.
- 53:47Speaker 9: I am.
- 53:48Speaker 4: I am really interested to see how the nine game
- 53:51Speaker 4: schedule works in the SEC. I really am to see
- 53:53Speaker 4: who I think it's gonna be brutal. Who coaches say like,
- 53:55Speaker 4: well we got beat up last week and and so.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Off the top of your head, can you tell me
- 54:01Speaker 1: how many schools are in the Big Ten, how many
- 54:05Speaker 1: members there are?
- 54:05Speaker 4: Eighteen?
- 54:06Speaker 3: Are they're eighteen?
- 54:08Speaker 9: Right about the ACC? I don't know eighteen seventeen.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Seventeen because Notre Dame is just a de facto but.
- 54:15Speaker 9: The Big twelves got sixteen. It's like, should we change
- 54:21Speaker 9: the names?
- 54:21Speaker 8: Be finally to the big I still think I still
- 54:25Speaker 8: think we're gonna you have no trivia to I still
- 54:28Speaker 8: think we're going to have about fifty teams and with divisions.
- 54:31Speaker 9: But the tax twelves got eight teams.
- 54:35Speaker 3: I had to look up.
- 54:36Speaker 4: I had to look up.
- 54:37Speaker 3: There was state in Oregon state was who was in there?
- 54:41Speaker 3: Texas State, Bois State.
- 54:47Speaker 1: State, san Diego State, Texas State, Utah State, Washington.
- 54:52Speaker 4: It's in a state that awesome. It's in a state
- 54:55Speaker 4: of denial.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Don't you know? You can't name the commissioner of the
- 55:04Speaker 4: PAC twelve right now, Ken, because I have no idea
- 55:08Speaker 4: next next week he probably works in McDonald's.
- 55:11Speaker 8: Next Monday, we'll have games to talk about and and
- 55:17Speaker 8: we get to break down that Missouri State team and
- 55:20Speaker 8: get ready for that.
- 55:21Speaker 4: The Bears, right, I don't know they've been hibernation for
- 55:25Speaker 4: a long time.
- 55:27Speaker 9: I think I saw a picture of the logo. It
- 55:28Speaker 9: looked like a bear to me.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Okay, let's do it.
- 55:31Speaker 9: Thanks. We killed an hour?
- 55:33Speaker 4: Yes, holy, we just know we murdered an hour.
