- 0:05Dave Castro already has a clue out for
- 0:07twenty six point two.
- 0:09Let's see what it is.
- 0:21I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:23I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:24I always take what I want and I
- 0:26always give it one hundred.
- 0:27Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:29Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:30I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:31Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:33Now wake up!
- 0:34It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:37Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:39friend to me.
- 0:40It's not working out,
- 0:41maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:42It's time to break up so I can
- 0:44make a better me.
- 0:48It's lunch time.
- 0:49Yay!
- 0:51what is going on everybody welcome to
- 0:53lunch with the collides day we are live
- 0:55on a tuesday afternoon good to be with
- 0:58you all twenty six point one is done
- 1:01and dusted and everybody is um in the
- 1:07leaderboard it's going to be in the
- 1:08leaderboard we are there it is final we
- 1:09know what it looks like um so it's
- 1:16it is exciting uh
- 1:19I do have to say like yesterday, man,
- 1:21I felt old.
- 1:25So yesterday I did the workout prior to
- 1:29coming on the air about ten a.m.
- 1:32and I did the workout.
- 1:34I explained it all to you guys that
- 1:36I did the twenty.
- 1:41I did the twenty wall balls and then
- 1:42I did a scaled twelve inch box to
- 1:46just complete the workout.
- 1:48After the show yesterday,
- 1:49I went to upload my video and my
- 1:52score onto the game site and no video.
- 1:58No video.
- 2:00It was gone.
- 2:01So I quickly decided just to put my
- 2:05phone up,
- 2:07do some wall balls and at least get
- 2:10a score in.
- 2:11And so I did that,
- 2:14tried to upload that video.
- 2:16That video kept getting rejected because
- 2:18it was too short and it wasn't a
- 2:20full YouTube video because I just did
- 2:23three wall balls to get a score and
- 2:26to move on.
- 2:28cause I was sore.
- 2:29I tried to do more.
- 2:31Um,
- 2:31I was warming up and I was so
- 2:33tight.
- 2:35I was so tight.
- 2:37Um, and my lats and my,
- 2:40especially my lats were really hurting.
- 2:42Cause I have,
- 2:43I've realized I've been scaling out of
- 2:45overhead movements way too much, way,
- 2:49way too much.
- 2:50And then, um, so anyway, made the video,
- 2:53did three wall balls,
- 2:54was just going to post the score and,
- 2:56wouldn't let me.
- 2:57So I had to like go into like
- 2:59video editing software and like run the
- 3:02video a couple times in a row to
- 3:04make it long enough to make it a
- 3:07full YouTube link,
- 3:09then go back and upload it and then
- 3:11submit my score.
- 3:13It took me like almost the entire day
- 3:16to figure out how to just get a
- 3:18video up.
- 3:20So anyway, I, uh,
- 3:26Anyway, there it is.
- 3:28It's over.
- 3:28Done.
- 3:29Dusted.
- 3:30Got a score in there.
- 3:33Maybe I'll just go drop in at a
- 3:35box this weekend to do the next one
- 3:37because that video stuff was just
- 3:41ridiculous.
- 3:43Carolyn asked why I didn't just film for
- 3:45twelve minutes I did on the first one
- 3:47I just filmed me doing the scaled stuff
- 3:49after and then the video didn't take so
- 3:53then the afternoon when I just went out
- 3:54and did a couple wall balls to submit
- 3:58the score again it just anyway it's a
- 4:00disaster I'm not doing it again that way
- 4:05we'll figure it out we'll figure out
- 4:06something but
- 4:10It did kind of show me that like
- 4:12CrossFit is,
- 4:14they do have some safeguards in the
- 4:15background that if your video isn't long
- 4:18enough, it will reject it.
- 4:23And there you go.
- 4:26So if you didn't know, now you know.
- 4:30Now you know.
- 4:33So there it is.
- 4:34But my back is really hurting today.
- 4:36Again, I've been scaling out of overhead.
- 4:39I realized way, way, way too much.
- 4:42And yesterday I did like forty five wall
- 4:44balls, maybe more than that.
- 4:46And my my and I've gosh,
- 4:50twenty pound wall ball I haven't used in
- 4:52a very long time.
- 4:53So, yeah.
- 4:56So it's not even my legs.
- 4:57It's my back.
- 4:59My legs are fine.
- 5:00Um, but my back is,
- 5:02my back is cooked today.
- 5:05Uh, anyway, with that being said, uh,
- 5:12no surprises.
- 5:13Mirvan roar went ahead and won.
- 5:16Twenty six point one on the women's side.
- 5:18Uh,
- 5:19it looks like some guys from Iceland have
- 5:21passed Colton last second on the men's
- 5:24side.
- 5:26Um,
- 5:28We'll see what happens there.
- 5:30Lito,
- 5:31twenty fourth in the world on this
- 5:33workout.
- 5:34Congratulations to you.
- 5:35And three days later,
- 5:36her legs are still not OK.
- 5:40Phenomenal performance, Lito.
- 5:42Carolyn's in the chat.
- 5:43Carolyn took fourteenth worldwide.
- 5:47So, yeah,
- 5:47we've got some rock stars in the chat.
- 5:50Pretty impressive scores.
- 5:58Mark Phillips says, nice work, Lito.
- 6:04Their video is online, Iceland Boys.
- 6:05Yeah, I watched it.
- 6:08And I'm going to get into judging in
- 6:10a minute.
- 6:13I hope they have a different video.
- 6:15The fact that the box covers up the
- 6:18hip crease, the bottom of the hip crease,
- 6:21makes that video really hard to judge.
- 6:24Yeah.
- 6:27But anyway,
- 6:28I don't think that it's unique to them.
- 6:31So.
- 6:34So there we go.
- 6:39Miriam did post this yesterday.
- 6:42I don't know if you guys saw this.
- 6:49This was her after twenty six point one
- 6:52the second time.
- 6:54She said she completed the workout,
- 6:56twenty six point one in a time of
- 6:57nine fifty.
- 6:59As several people have already pointed
- 7:01out,
- 7:01and as you can clearly see in the
- 7:02video, I made a small mistake.
- 7:04In the second to last set of box
- 7:06jump overs,
- 7:07I stepped onto the box instead of jumping
- 7:10and did not repeat the rep.
- 7:11That makes it a no rep.
- 7:13During the workout,
- 7:14I was aware that something felt off and
- 7:16that I had briefly fallen out of rhythm.
- 7:17In that moment,
- 7:19I had to make a quick decision and
- 7:20chose not to repeat the repetition.
- 7:23Looking back,
- 7:24that was probably the wrong decision.
- 7:26However, at high intensity and speed,
- 7:27this mistake happened.
- 7:30I want to communicate this openly and
- 7:31honestly because it is clearly visible in
- 7:33the video.
- 7:34I consider repeating the workout because
- 7:36of this mistake and looked into the rule
- 7:38book regarding possible penalties.
- 7:40However,
- 7:41I could not find a completely clear
- 7:43answer.
- 7:50What I respect is that she came out
- 7:52and said,
- 7:54I messed up.
- 7:55I did this wrong.
- 7:56Clearly her reps were good everywhere else
- 7:59in that video.
- 8:00Everywhere else.
- 8:03I heard last night on Monday Night
- 8:07CrossFit talk
- 8:11They were talking about...
- 8:13I think CJ said two-second penalty.
- 8:16JY said five-second penalty because you
- 8:19have to penalize for the mistake.
- 8:22I think anywhere in there is fine.
- 8:24She's still going to win the workout.
- 8:26Two, three, five.
- 8:27She's still going to be under ten minutes.
- 8:31So anyway, I think she is...
- 8:35One, I'm now a big fan.
- 8:37When you come out and say, hey,
- 8:39I know I made a mistake.
- 8:40Here it is.
- 8:41Tells you even where she made the mistake.
- 8:44I think that is awesome.
- 8:46Small penalty, move on.
- 8:48She still wins the workout.
- 8:50She completely dominated this workout over
- 8:53everybody, male and female.
- 8:55And she should be lauded for that,
- 8:57not condemned.
- 8:59It was a...
- 9:01at the speed she was going it's no
- 9:03wonder her mind tricked up in that one
- 9:06little moment and she stepped instead of
- 9:08jumped um that was not going to make
- 9:11a difference in her time her placing or
- 9:14anything like that um give her the small
- 9:17penalty move on but kudos to her for
- 9:22coming out and owning the mistake instead
- 9:24of hiding from it or anything like that
- 9:27uh
- 9:29Great, great way to go about that.
- 9:35So right before we went on live,
- 9:38Dave posted the clue for twenty six point
- 9:43two.
- 9:45And here it is.
- 9:48It is.
- 9:52It looks like.
- 9:54I don't know.
- 9:56It looks like wheat-ish, I don't know,
- 9:59some kind of plant in front of some
- 10:02mountains.
- 10:03And it kind of is blowing in the
- 10:07wind.
- 10:08So, yeah, that is the clue.
- 10:13I know that Dave says these are obvious,
- 10:16so I am sure that you all figured
- 10:18it out already.
- 10:28Kenneth asked,
- 10:29did Nellie Moo claim the giveaway yet?
- 10:33Well,
- 10:33I found out that Nellie Moo is actually
- 10:36Natalie Lemieux.
- 10:40And she did claim her bag of thirdsy.
- 10:43She's on a business trip,
- 10:45but I will get that out to her
- 10:46as soon as she can,
- 10:47as soon as I can.
- 10:49And it is Natalie Lemieux.
- 10:52She's been a longtime listener,
- 10:54and she was actually in our fantasy
- 10:55football league last year.
- 10:57So congratulations to Natalie Lemieux for
- 11:01winning the bag of salted caramel
- 11:04chocolate thirdsy.
- 11:07Uh,
- 11:08Seema says that the clue is the answer.
- 11:10My friend is blowing in the wind.
- 11:12Yeah.
- 11:12I think the workout is blowing in the
- 11:13wind and we'll,
- 11:14none of us will figure this out before,
- 11:19before Thursday.
- 11:24Um, uh, the clouds are doing muscle ups.
- 11:31I don't,
- 11:31I don't know what you're having for lunch,
- 11:33Craig, but okay.
- 11:34Okay.
- 11:40uh there we go so that came out
- 11:48um the other thing that came out in
- 11:49the last uh uh was the new documentary
- 11:55um i watched it i watched some of
- 11:59it very early this morning before my
- 12:01pulmonology appointment and i watched the
- 12:03rest of it after
- 12:05Um,
- 12:07I'm going to preface everything I say
- 12:09with, I am,
- 12:11I am a very hard critic on these
- 12:12documentaries.
- 12:14Um,
- 12:15it has been a while since I have
- 12:18thoroughly enjoyed the documentary and I
- 12:22was trying to analyze why today.
- 12:25And it used to be back in the
- 12:26day that the documentary would come out
- 12:30and then like immediately following it
- 12:32would be the behind the scenes.
- 12:36And I think what that gave us is
- 12:39you got the event in the documentary.
- 12:43And also back then I didn't go to
- 12:45the games.
- 12:46I was at home watching the stream.
- 12:50And so you would watch like the breakdown
- 12:53of the games and then you would get
- 12:56the behind the scenes of everything that
- 12:58happened after, after that,
- 13:01that added this color and texture to it.
- 13:03And I think in my head,
- 13:05I just let it all be one thing
- 13:08working together.
- 13:11and now we get we we have so
- 13:15many media people and i am included in
- 13:17this that send out content between the end
- 13:22of the games and put out more content
- 13:24between the end of the games and when
- 13:26the documentary is released so it's really
- 13:30hard for the documentary crew to show us
- 13:33new stuff like oftentimes i'm sitting
- 13:38there going oh i'm not seeing anything i
- 13:40didn't see already
- 13:46And so I just want to preface my
- 13:49critique with that.
- 13:53That being said,
- 13:57I thought this was better than most.
- 14:01I thought this was better than the last
- 14:02few.
- 14:04It still was a little bit redundant for
- 14:06me at times.
- 14:09And I felt like it was trying to
- 14:12be two different things.
- 14:14I felt like it was trying to be
- 14:17a Tia Claire Toomey documentary about
- 14:21possibly maybe her last year at the games.
- 14:28Maybe, possibly.
- 14:32Then it also tried to be this game's
- 14:35recap of what happened.
- 14:39And so I think at times it lost
- 14:42itself in one or the other, but wasn't,
- 14:50things were missed.
- 14:52Things I wanted to see were missed.
- 14:55Um,
- 14:57I think Olivia Kerstetter coming all the
- 14:59way back to be a podium finisher was
- 15:03just barely touched on.
- 15:06And it could have been a bigger story
- 15:08in what happened at the games.
- 15:12I think from a Tia documentary point of
- 15:14view,
- 15:15I learned a lot about Tia and the
- 15:16way things happen behind the scenes with
- 15:19her.
- 15:20There were more behind the scenes footage
- 15:23in this documentary than some of the
- 15:24others where it was just like the guys
- 15:28talking or the ladies talking.
- 15:31There was a lot of interaction between
- 15:32Lucy Campbell and Tia,
- 15:35especially in the moments where they
- 15:37traded the leader jersey back and forth,
- 15:39which I thought was really good.
- 15:44But there just became a point where,
- 15:48and Daniel Brandon's in it too.
- 15:50So really it focuses on four of each.
- 15:53It focuses on Tia, Lucy, Daniel, Brandon,
- 15:57Olivia.
- 15:58Danielle and Olivia are kind of an
- 15:59afterthought, the way I viewed it.
- 16:03There was a couple good pieces,
- 16:05but for the most part, an afterthought.
- 16:07On the men's side, it was Ricky, James,
- 16:11Dallin, Jason,
- 16:13and a little bit of Jay Crouch.
- 16:17A little bit of Jay Crouch.
- 16:19And then again, I think at times...
- 16:23they just focused on Jason so much and
- 16:27he did win the games.
- 16:28I get that.
- 16:30Um, so anyway, it, it,
- 16:36It is what it is.
- 16:37I think there were some good parts that
- 16:40I hadn't seen before.
- 16:42And I don't want to spoil anything at
- 16:43this moment because it just came out
- 16:44today.
- 16:46There was a lot of redundancy that had
- 16:49been done in past documentaries where they
- 16:52are explaining the workout.
- 16:54A lot of Chase and Adrian...
- 17:01not Bosman, Adrian, Conway,
- 17:04talking about the methodology,
- 17:06talking about why the test is the way
- 17:08it is, talking about all that stuff.
- 17:12If you've watched a bunch of
- 17:13documentaries,
- 17:14it's a lot of the same jargon in
- 17:15there.
- 17:16So yeah,
- 17:19there was no Colton in the documentary.
- 17:23Zero, zero Colton.
- 17:27And that's typical for these
- 17:29documentaries.
- 17:30They focus on the top couple athletes and
- 17:34that's what you get.
- 17:36There's no Carolyn Prevost in these
- 17:38documentaries.
- 17:39There was a lot of people missing that
- 17:43I think added some color and texture to
- 17:45the story.
- 17:47I guess there was a tiny bit of
- 17:48Austin Hatfield too.
- 17:54It feels like the resources they have are
- 17:56pre-assigned and the ability to be
- 17:58reactive to unexpected stories isn't
- 18:00possible.
- 18:02Yeah, I think you're right.
- 18:03But I saw CJ say Olivia Kerstetter,
- 18:06that comeback couldn't have been
- 18:08predicted.
- 18:09But she's in the documentary.
- 18:11They talked to her throughout the weekend.
- 18:13So like they predetermined her before it
- 18:17even started.
- 18:19How it didn't get covered more.
- 18:21That's why I think what I was taken
- 18:23aback of.
- 18:30Vicky says, I bought it,
- 18:31but now I'm on strike.
- 18:32Don't be on strike.
- 18:33It's worth a watch.
- 18:37There are some pieces.
- 18:39There are some pieces and some
- 18:40interactions with Dave by the athletes
- 18:43that I've never seen before.
- 18:48Like when the pegboard thing happened and
- 18:50the slippery pegboard,
- 18:51there are athletes that are livid
- 18:54And they make it abundantly clear to Dave
- 18:59what their thoughts are.
- 19:00And that is captured in this documentary.
- 19:05There is a part where one athlete knows
- 19:10he's being recorded in earshot of another
- 19:13athlete.
- 19:15And he uses that to try to intimidate
- 19:17the other athlete.
- 19:19Like there are some really,
- 19:20really cool movements or moments,
- 19:24really cool moments that I have not seen
- 19:26in other, other documentaries.
- 19:30Um, but at it's at the granular level,
- 19:34it's the same kind of thing.
- 19:39So, um, yeah,
- 19:43the pig board thing is a,
- 19:44is a big piece to this.
- 19:48Um,
- 19:51So, yeah.
- 19:56What would somebody who doesn't know
- 19:57anything about CrossFit think?
- 20:00Gosh, I don't.
- 20:06That's a great question.
- 20:09I don't think it is an elementary version
- 20:11of the games either.
- 20:13I think they come in assuming that you
- 20:17know something about the sport already.
- 20:22there isn't a lot of introduction to many
- 20:24of the characters in the documentary other
- 20:28than they show jason in his football
- 20:31uniform kind of growing up they don't they
- 20:36don't really talk about how tia became tia
- 20:39they don't really so there's no like intro
- 20:42to what we are and i would even
- 20:45say like the the chase and adrian stuff
- 20:48is more games related than methodology
- 20:50related
- 20:52Like in the old documentaries,
- 20:54we had like a one-on-one of what the
- 20:56methodology is while they're explaining
- 21:00what happened at the games.
- 21:04None of that is in this.
- 21:08And again,
- 21:09if you missed the beginning of it,
- 21:10Siobhan,
- 21:10it's more that I think it tried to
- 21:13be a couple different things and it didn't
- 21:15go down well.
- 21:17any of the paths fully.
- 21:19It could have been a great Tia
- 21:20documentary.
- 21:21Could have been a great Tia documentary.
- 21:24Could have been a great-ish games recap
- 21:29thing.
- 21:31But again, to me,
- 21:32it's not a complete picture without a
- 21:35behind-the-scenes.
- 21:38And so now that the behind-the-scenes is
- 21:40done kind of separate...
- 21:44Back in the day,
- 21:44it was you watch the documentary,
- 21:47then you watch the behind the scenes to
- 21:48get the color and the texture and all
- 21:51of that behind what happened.
- 21:54And now the timing's off of that to
- 21:57me.
- 21:59And I think that's what I miss the
- 22:00most.
- 22:04And because there are so many people
- 22:07putting out content from the games,
- 22:10it's really hard for the documentary crew
- 22:13to surprise us with anything new.
- 22:17It's really, really hard.
- 22:20You have athletes putting out content.
- 22:22You have media putting out content.
- 22:24We are now, what,
- 22:25six months after the games,
- 22:27seven months after the games,
- 22:29and we're just getting this now.
- 22:31So a lot has already been said about
- 22:34the games.
- 22:35So there just wasn't a lot new.
- 22:38Now there were like a handful of things
- 22:41that I really, really enjoyed.
- 22:43I enjoyed the pegboard stuff.
- 22:45I enjoyed some of the strategies behind
- 22:47the scenes.
- 22:48I enjoyed athletes getting mad and not
- 22:50wanting to talk to people.
- 22:52Um,
- 22:54there were some discussions behind the
- 22:56scenes that were really good,
- 22:58but there were,
- 22:59there were a lot of pieces that were
- 23:01very much just like it's always been done.
- 23:06That's all.
- 23:07I'm not saying you won't enjoy it.
- 23:08And again, I'm a very hard critic.
- 23:11I consume so much content throughout the
- 23:14year that it's really hard to surprise me
- 23:17with stuff.
- 23:19And if I've already seen it,
- 23:23it's just like watching a rerun.
- 23:27But there were a couple moments where I
- 23:28perked up and was like, ooh, ooh, ooh.
- 23:35um so so there's that take it for
- 23:41what you will it's out there it's like
- 23:44four dollars to rent twelve dollars to buy
- 23:48i've i've purchased every single one of
- 23:50these like i have them all in my
- 23:54queue uh
- 23:57To me, I would put it at,
- 24:00and I am a very hard critic on
- 24:02this.
- 24:03I would put it at a B minus,
- 24:06a B minus.
- 24:11So take it for what you will.
- 24:13That's where I have it.
- 24:15Um,
- 24:22Go check it out if you want to.
- 24:24The next thing I wanted to talk about
- 24:25is,
- 24:27I've had a lot of DMs over the
- 24:29last twenty-four hours about people going
- 24:32and looking at videos on the leaderboard
- 24:35and seeing people not meeting standards
- 24:37all around them on the leaderboard and
- 24:44And I get it.
- 24:46I get it.
- 24:46There are a lot of bad wall balls
- 24:48out there.
- 24:49A lot of them.
- 24:50I think last night on the CrossFit Network
- 24:52show, Taylor said, jump ship said five,
- 24:59ten percent.
- 25:01I don't know what it is.
- 25:02I've seen a lot of footage of some
- 25:04bad wall balls.
- 25:07And I've heard from a lot of athletes
- 25:09that are upset.
- 25:13It's hard.
- 25:15CrossFit is at a place where they're
- 25:17trying to make something that anybody in
- 25:20the first week of the Open can do
- 25:22to get signups, to get people interested,
- 25:24to get people in the door.
- 25:28And they did that with this workout.
- 25:31This is a workout that anybody can come
- 25:33in, do some wall balls, get a score,
- 25:37and move on.
- 25:41The problem is then you get something like
- 25:43this,
- 25:44and it puts judges in a really bad
- 25:47position.
- 25:48There are two places you have to look
- 25:50at as a judge to see if they
- 25:53have met hip depth, hip crease,
- 25:57and did they hit the target at the
- 25:59right spot.
- 26:01So...
- 26:03It puts the judge in a bad situation
- 26:06at, what,
- 26:07two hundred and forty whatever times they
- 26:10have to look in two places for every
- 26:12rep.
- 26:15The videos are not doing anybody any
- 26:17favors.
- 26:21You know,
- 26:21last night they showed the Icelandic for
- 26:24people that were doing it together.
- 26:26The boxes were in front of them or
- 26:29in between the camera and them.
- 26:31You couldn't even see the bottom of the
- 26:32hip crease.
- 26:34You could only guess whether they hit or
- 26:36not.
- 26:37Um,
- 26:38and some of them won and there are
- 26:41way worse videos than that.
- 26:44What I would say is hopefully there's a
- 26:47skill coming.
- 26:49There is a skill coming that's going to
- 26:52separate the really good athletes,
- 26:55the people that are true to their
- 26:57standards all the time.
- 27:00And it will separate the leaderboard and
- 27:06make it feel appropriate.
- 27:08I heard people on a Monday night CrossFit
- 27:11update that they were at a lower
- 27:15percentage than they normally are because
- 27:17it was so accessible.
- 27:29Carolyn says,
- 27:29what's the difference between that and
- 27:31most of the movements?
- 27:32Well, as a judge,
- 27:34you actually have to move to see both
- 27:37both things.
- 27:39To see the hip crease,
- 27:41to see the top of the wall ball
- 27:42target,
- 27:43it's a greater distance between the two to
- 27:46judge.
- 27:47Most of it, most movements,
- 27:50you can see most of that peripherally with
- 27:52a little bit of head movement.
- 27:54This just takes more.
- 27:57And I saw Andrew Sten say,
- 27:59it's not that hard to judge.
- 28:01Andrew,
- 28:02you have judged on the highest levels.
- 28:05And for you, yeah, it's not that hard.
- 28:07But there's a lot of people that don't
- 28:09judge every day.
- 28:11And it's a big distance between the two
- 28:16points.
- 28:17There's a lot of movement.
- 28:21So Andrew says it's not, Scott.
- 28:25If you step back a little and kneel,
- 28:26you can see it all.
- 28:27But you know that.
- 28:30You know that.
- 28:30You can teach people in your gym that.
- 28:33But how many people don't have an
- 28:36experienced judge like that that can give
- 28:39the tips and tricks for everything?
- 28:42You can see these videos.
- 28:44You can see the judges.
- 28:45You can see a lot of people don't
- 28:47use the proper technique when they judge.
- 29:01Um...
- 29:03Carolyn says,
- 29:03every year it's like this by the third
- 29:05week.
- 29:05Things settle to normal on the
- 29:07leaderboard.
- 29:10Shanna says, I know repped a few times.
- 29:17Amanda says,
- 29:18I've done this so long that I know
- 29:19going in that my score will not be
- 29:21reflected appropriately on the leaderboard
- 29:23in a workout like this.
- 29:24Sadly, in my point of view now,
- 29:27it's just, it is what it is.
- 29:36It has nothing to do with difficulty of
- 29:37judging.
- 29:37It's people who don't train full depth
- 29:39regularly.
- 29:40And it's friends judging and letting it
- 29:42go.
- 29:44So I wanted to, you know,
- 29:46because a lot of people are complaining
- 29:48about this.
- 29:50There's nothing we're going to be able to
- 29:51do today about this.
- 29:54But we did talk about this new xenon.
- 29:57And my question to you all is,
- 30:01because it's not based on a comparative
- 30:04score,
- 30:04like your time is better than my time,
- 30:08so blah, blah, blah, right?
- 30:10It is based on a score of average
- 30:14is a thousand.
- 30:16If you do better than average,
- 30:17you can get a higher score.
- 30:19If you do lower than average,
- 30:21you get lower than a thousand, right?
- 30:24So it's not based on where you finish
- 30:26on a leaderboard,
- 30:27but where you finish on a scale that's
- 30:31been developed for what the typical
- 30:34athlete can do.
- 30:36And think of it in golf terms as
- 30:38there's a par for a hole.
- 30:40And if you go below,
- 30:42if you exceed expectations,
- 30:44you get a birdie and you are below
- 30:47par.
- 30:48If you don't exceed expectations,
- 30:50you do worse than expectations,
- 30:52you get a bogey.
- 30:54Flip that and get a better score because
- 30:56you do better than par and a lesser
- 30:59score because you do worse than par.
- 31:02Do you think that that is a better
- 31:05example of testing the community in where
- 31:09you stand than the Open is currently
- 31:15doing?
- 31:17And the other thing Xenon will have with
- 31:19it,
- 31:19it will have judges there provided to
- 31:22judge your movements.
- 31:23It won't be a friend.
- 31:25It won't be inside your gym.
- 31:27It will be in a stadium where you
- 31:30go do these events and you get a
- 31:34score based on your performance against
- 31:38the norm,
- 31:39not against the other people that are
- 31:41doing it.
- 31:53Lita says,
- 31:54I like that scoring a bit like P
- 31:56score,
- 31:56but it's used as a general average athlete
- 31:59rather than the competitive average.
- 32:01Yeah.
- 32:02My issue with P score is it's still
- 32:04dependent on the people you're competing
- 32:07against in that moment.
- 32:10where this is a determined statistical
- 32:14analysis of what people should do in that
- 32:17event, and the scoring is based on that.
- 32:20And the more data points they get from
- 32:23all these events,
- 32:24the more dialed in that distribution of
- 32:31points we'll get.
- 32:43Yeah, exactly.
- 32:44Scott,
- 32:44a general average rather than the
- 32:45competitive one.
- 32:46I, yes, I think it's a great,
- 32:49I think their release of this new thing
- 32:52that they're doing up against the open and
- 32:55all the complaints people are having for
- 32:58your percentile is based on everybody else
- 33:01and what they're allowed to get away with
- 33:03as opposed to where you rank in
- 33:06on this predetermined scale and i think
- 33:10that the release of this at that time
- 33:13they need to market that piece because you
- 33:16will actually know your xenon score and it
- 33:22doesn't change you get better and better
- 33:24or worse and worse to doing the same
- 33:27thing um each time you go do that
- 33:30xenon
- 33:37So I just found that interesting and an
- 33:41observational fact.
- 33:43But yeah,
- 33:45I think that that is definitely a solution
- 33:49for those mid-level athletes who just want
- 33:53to see where they are.
- 33:55Because I think it'll be a truer sense
- 33:58in who you are as an athlete as
- 34:02opposed to...
- 34:05where you finished on a leaderboard where
- 34:08everything is kind of everything,
- 34:13everything is open to interpretation from
- 34:15every individual judge around the world.
- 34:22Claire says five hundred to compete as an
- 34:23individual per barbell spin a lot more
- 34:25than the open.
- 34:26It is.
- 34:27But there are people that care so much
- 34:29about where their fitness level is.
- 34:32I think people will be willing to pay
- 34:34for it.
- 34:35The other thing I think it's two days,
- 34:37ten events.
- 34:38That's a lot of activity.
- 34:40That's more than the open.
- 34:42Do you get for that five hundred dollars?
- 34:44You also get based on this new scoring
- 34:46system.
- 34:48And there's only two thousand spots
- 34:50available at each location.
- 34:52So the supply and demand is going to
- 34:54be much different than the open.
- 35:02So.
- 35:08Lito says five hundred is really pricey
- 35:09for a two day comp.
- 35:12is it is it i've paid more i've
- 35:16paid over a hundred dollars for a one-day
- 35:18comp close to two hundred dollars for one
- 35:23day comp locally and that was six years
- 35:26ago and i don't think it's just for
- 35:31every tom dick and harry i think xenom
- 35:33is going to be for those people who
- 35:36want to see where they rank
- 35:39And in a controlled environment where
- 35:44everything you have judging,
- 35:46you have rogue equipment,
- 35:48you have the best of the best things
- 35:52laid out for you to accomplish your task.
- 36:11Hexy lover.
- 36:13Are judges going to judge college and pay
- 36:16the salary?
- 36:17Where do I apply?
- 36:18I don't know.
- 36:19I don't know how they're getting judges.
- 36:21I'm sure that's something they're working
- 36:22out.
- 36:26Workouts have to stay the same every year
- 36:28if this works.
- 36:29It's closer to being an Olympic sport than
- 36:33CrossFit or IF-III.
- 36:34I agree.
- 36:35I agree.
- 36:37I agree.
- 36:43Monster games was less than three hundred
- 36:45this year.
- 36:47Yeah,
- 36:47but monster like monster games is a couple
- 36:49day competition.
- 36:49Three hundred bucks and.
- 36:54People are paying that and they're selling
- 36:55it out usually every year in a ton
- 36:58of different divisions.
- 37:00What is two hundred dollars more to do
- 37:02it in a big stadium with the nicest
- 37:05equipment?
- 37:06I don't know.
- 37:11I've seen people pay more for crazier
- 37:13stuff.
- 37:21I agree with Claire.
- 37:22I can't wait to see this thing in
- 37:23real life.
- 37:24Everything sounds good on paper.
- 37:26It's going to be interesting to see the
- 37:28execution.
- 37:30WFP sounded good on paper.
- 37:32The execution fell short.
- 37:37That's what we need to see.
- 37:46anybody can come up with a plan.
- 37:48It's what do you do once it's in
- 37:49reality?
- 37:50And does it,
- 37:52does it make sense at that point?
- 38:02Just remember, guys,
- 38:04we have a sponsor to this show.
- 38:06It is Thirdsy.
- 38:07They are awesome to us.
- 38:09It is an essential supplement for the
- 38:11open.
- 38:12It helps you get your sleep.
- 38:14It helps you get your recovery.
- 38:16It does all the things you need to
- 38:18make sure you have the best open possible.
- 38:21You can go to thirdsy.com backslash jazzy.
- 38:24Get twenty five percent off your order
- 38:27through the open.
- 38:29Or you can go to just their website,
- 38:31use Jazzy at checkout,
- 38:32get twenty five percent off your order
- 38:34there.
- 38:35Twenty five percent off through the open.
- 38:42Trish says Xenom is a corny as hell
- 38:44name.
- 38:45See,
- 38:47I said this on Sunday night with Carolyn,
- 38:49I think everything sounds corny when it's
- 38:52first given to you.
- 38:56If it turns out to be a really
- 38:57cool event,
- 38:58nobody's going to care what it was called.
- 39:01If you look at CrossFit,
- 39:03they took it on the chin that it
- 39:06was a weird name back then.
- 39:15So if they do a good job and
- 39:21it becomes a cool event,
- 39:22the name will be irrelevant.
- 39:28uh cj has figured out the clue from
- 39:29dave um he posted in the comments if
- 39:32you want to go see uh trish says
- 39:42i can't see lito without thinking of the
- 39:44boss gag song uh i'm with you when
- 39:47she first was in the chat that song
- 39:50would run in my head every time i
- 39:51saw her um
- 39:56Alito says,
- 39:57I'm curious if they will sell it out,
- 39:58though,
- 39:58considering there are lots of other
- 40:00cheaper comps out there for community
- 40:02athletes.
- 40:03The elites already have a lot on their
- 40:04plates.
- 40:08I would lay dollars to donuts they sell
- 40:10out.
- 40:21Alito says they just released events for
- 40:24two and three.
- 40:27Let me see if I can pull that
- 40:28up.
- 40:37Thank you for the update.
- 40:41Didn't have this on my...
- 40:43So event two is wall walk, rope climb,
- 40:47and wall walk, rope climb couplet.
- 40:51Two wall walks, one rope climb.
- 40:53Four wall walks, two rope climbs.
- 40:55Six wall walks, three rope climbs.
- 41:01That is the elite division.
- 41:04That looks like it's it.
- 41:06It doesn't have a time.
- 41:13Looks like just for time.
- 41:18And event three is...
- 41:21sixty second max calorie on an echo bike
- 41:31so we now have five of the ten
- 41:35events uh announced by xenon it really
- 41:42looks like
- 41:43Day one is primarily like a monostructural
- 41:46type thing.
- 41:48And then day two looks like it is
- 41:50going to be more your couplets.
- 41:59Couplets, triplets, Metcons,
- 42:03things like that.
- 42:08So...
- 42:18uh i didn't see cj's comment uh but
- 42:22corey said if cj's right uh there's gonna
- 42:25be a lot of happy folks out there
- 42:26and i'm three of them okay corey is
- 42:31let me refresh see what cj says
- 42:59okay uh i'll pull it up guys everybody's
- 43:04asking so here's cj's comment so here it
- 43:13is
- 43:16You're looking at a wild oak grass seed
- 43:17heads in the foreground,
- 43:19the long dangling ons and narrow spikelets
- 43:22are classic California wild oats blowing
- 43:25in the wind,
- 43:26which obviously equate to the classics
- 43:29swinging on the rings and swinging on a
- 43:32rope.
- 43:46Um, burpees over barley.
- 43:52Sowing wild oats is creative programming.
- 43:58Sky is the limits.
- 44:12A lot of people with their guesses.
- 44:15I think the guesses are more fun than
- 44:16the clue.
- 44:25So when I'm short on time or just
- 44:26want some skill work,
- 44:27I'll do a twenty to thirty minute EMOM
- 44:29of dubs and ring muscle ups.
- 44:42Yeah.
- 44:47There it is.
- 44:49Okay, guys, I'm going to head out.
- 44:55Just to let you know,
- 44:56I had my pulmonary follow-up after my
- 45:00biopsy today.
- 45:02And regretfully, I have no answers still.
- 45:07They ruled out sarcoidosis.
- 45:09They ruled out cancer.
- 45:11So those are two good things, I guess.
- 45:14And holy cow.
- 45:20Well, put that on hold.
- 45:22Spin just reported that Don Fall is out.
- 45:25I think people were predicting this was
- 45:26coming.
- 45:29Not sure they thought it would happen
- 45:30today.
- 45:32It's weird that they would do that during
- 45:33the open.
- 45:36But it is what it is, right?
- 45:43So see if I can pull that up.
- 46:06He does not have it on his Instagram
- 46:08yet.
- 46:13So it must be on Twitter.
- 46:16Maybe it is report.
- 46:24Here it is.
- 46:29Don fall steps down.
- 46:31as CEO of CrossFit.
- 46:33Don Fall stepped down as CEO of CrossFit.
- 46:35Fall became CEO on August second,
- 46:37right before the games.
- 46:41Fall's last day will be March sixth, .
- 46:44So he will be here till the end
- 46:45of the week.
- 46:48CrossFit's board of directors has already
- 46:50begun the process of finding a new CEO
- 46:52and will work with an executive search
- 46:53firm to find Fall's replacement.
- 46:57I really, really,
- 47:00really hate executive search firms.
- 47:04Hate that.
- 47:07Only you know what you want in a
- 47:09CEO, not some outside search firm.
- 47:16So anyway, there it is.
- 47:20Don Fall has stepped down.
- 47:25Time the doc released with his leaving.
- 47:27Gosh, I know it's terrible.
- 47:30You're in the middle of the open.
- 47:31You have a new documentary coming out,
- 47:33and that's when you decide to make the
- 47:35change.
- 47:38All right, real quick,
- 47:40back to the pulmonary stuff.
- 47:43I didn't get any answers today.
- 47:44I only got eliminated questions,
- 47:47and that was they ruled out cancer.
- 47:50They ruled out sarcoidosis.
- 47:53So now it's moving on to other steps.
- 47:56I did a broad blood panel today.
- 48:01So now I have to wait on those
- 48:02results.
- 48:03They're looking for some specific
- 48:05autoimmune possibilities.
- 48:09But overall,
- 48:09my symptoms have gotten better because of
- 48:12the medicine I'm on and the sinus surgery
- 48:15I've had.
- 48:17So at this point,
- 48:19we have some time to figure it out.
- 48:23but that's where i am i thought for
- 48:25sure it was going to be sarcoidosis turned
- 48:27out it is not that it has been
- 48:29ruled out now and so the biopsy just
- 48:33really eliminated a couple things and but
- 48:36didn't give any answers so we just moved
- 48:38forward i gave some blood this morning
