- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, well, here are the sights and sounds from
- 0:03Speaker 1: Wrigley Field a week ago today as captured for you
- 0:07Speaker 1: right here at One Look Up Alex Media. Let's start
- 0:10Speaker 1: with the 150th anniversary celebration. And then, of course, the famous,
- 0:48Speaker 1: let me hear you, seventh inning stretch as conducted by
- 0:52Speaker 1: members of the Team 150 Cubs all-time team. Take me
- 1:04Speaker 1: out to the ball game. Members of the iconic Chicago.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Cubs 150th anniversary team. On behalf of everybody up here
- 1:26Speaker 2: in this suite, all my guys, thank you so much
- 1:30Speaker 2: for everything you gave us over the years. We appreciate
- 1:34Speaker 2: you sitting together.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You ready? A one, a two, a three.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Take me out to the ballgame. Take me out to
- 1:42Speaker 2: the crowd. I need some peanuts and cracker jacks. I
- 1:48Speaker 2: don't care if I ever get back home. It's group, group, group,
- 1:57Speaker 2: rolling party. And maybe the wind is a shame. But
- 2:03Speaker 2: it's one, two, three strikes you're out at the old ball.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Now, up until this point, the Cubs' Pete Crow Armstrong
- 2:20Speaker 1: had two home runs, and he had never had a
- 2:23Speaker 1: third home run in a day. So he never had
- 2:26Speaker 1: a three-run home run game until this swing of the bat,
- 2:29Speaker 1: which I did get, both on video and for the
- 2:34Speaker 1: audio fans. And as fans chanted MVP, I'm right along
- 3:18Speaker 1: with them. MVPCA, as my buddy Ryan coined it. And
- 3:22Speaker 1: he was well on his way to an MVP season.
- 3:25Speaker 1: And this is how the Cubs celebrate a win. Now,
- 3:28Speaker 1: when I was there 15 years ago, they did lose
- 3:31Speaker 1: against the Yanks. So I never got to hear them
- 3:32Speaker 1: celebrate a win until last Saturday, August 29th. Now I've
- 4:08Speaker 1: got to play this interview with Scott, who's been around
- 4:10Speaker 1: the ballpark at Wrigley since the age of six years old,
- 4:14Speaker 1: talking to me about what it's like to watch Team
- 4:16Speaker 1: 150 be honored a week ago Saturday at Wrigley. Alright,
- 4:20Speaker 1: here at.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Wrigley Field with Scott.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Alright, you've been coming to this ballpark since you were, what,
- 4:25Speaker 1: five or six years old? Two years old, yep. And
- 4:26Speaker 1: today's your birthday. Yep. What's it like to be here
- 4:29Speaker 1: watching a.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Hundred years of coming baseball be celebrated today?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Oh man, what is it? What's it like watching this
- 4:35Speaker 1: celebration today? It's amazing. Seeing all the players here is great.
- 4:38Speaker 1: All the old players. Where would you like to sit
- 4:41Speaker 1: when you're here? What do I like? It's the bleachers, baby.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's the best, the bleachers.
- 4:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Of all the guys that were out there today, which
- 4:50Speaker 1: player resonated with you the most growing up? Rizzo. Yeah. Rizzo.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Well, absolutely.
- 4:57Speaker 1: As a Yankee fan, I admire him. Yeah. I was
- 5:00Speaker 1: pissed when he went to the Yankees. I'll tell you
- 5:02Speaker 1: a great story. I got to thank him for winning
- 5:04Speaker 1: the World Series back in 24. That's awesome. All right.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He's a great guy. What are your thoughts on the
- 5:09Speaker 1: Cubs this year? I mean, they got to keep winning.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We need a pitching staff. We don't got no relievers.
- 5:13Speaker 1: We need a nice, we need to do something. And
- 5:15Speaker 1: since he's six years old, so dad, mom, who brought
- 5:18Speaker 1: him here?
- 5:18Speaker 2: My mom.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Actually, it was my uncle. My first game was a
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yank Mets game, New York Mets game. It was 22
- 5:23Speaker 1: in the evening. I was six years old. The game
- 5:26Speaker 1: was like 1130 at night and I was still up.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And I was like, I loved it. I was so
- 5:30Speaker 1: proud of it. Do you like the monitoring? You know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: all the modifications they've done to the stadium? It's all right.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It's good for the people. Yeah. It's really nice. All right. Well,
- 5:38Speaker 1: thanks for joining us today. You know, it's interesting. Like Scott,
- 5:42Speaker 1: my first Cub game was with my dad. And that
- 5:45Speaker 1: was when I was six months old or so, Mets Cubs.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And let me tell you, I, uh, won't ever forget
- 5:52Speaker 1: the times we went to see the Mets and the
- 5:54Speaker 1: Cubs play each other at Shea or Citi Field. And
- 5:59Speaker 1: I'll never forget the impact the Cubs have had on
- 6:02Speaker 1: my life because my dad's love of the Cubs. And
- 6:04Speaker 1: to go around a week ago at Wrigley Field and
- 6:06Speaker 1: talk about how my dad took me out to Wrigley
- 6:08Speaker 1: when I was five years old to meet Harry Carey.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And then when we were, when I was about 19
- 6:13Speaker 1: years old in 2011 and, uh, we hadn't gone in
- 6:18Speaker 1: those times after that. So to go back in honor
- 6:22Speaker 1: of my dad and I, in honor of his love
- 6:24Speaker 1: of the team. And of course I played you the,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I've read you the letter that the Cubs wrote to
- 6:29Speaker 1: my dad. I mean, it's just, it's special. It's special
- 6:34Speaker 1: to have the Cubs as part of our family. And
- 6:39Speaker 1: to hear all I heard last week when I was
- 6:41Speaker 1: at Wrigley was my dad say, well, you know, I
- 6:43Speaker 1: grew up a Cub fan or I was a Cub
- 6:45Speaker 1: fan or, you know, I started rooting for the Cubs.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And they tell me stories how he was at Wrigley
- 6:52Speaker 1: Field at the Bleachers. And so this trip was not
- 6:55Speaker 1: only fun to reminisce about 150 years of Cubs baseball,
- 6:59Speaker 1: many of whom I've gotten to meet. I got Ernie
- 7:01Speaker 1: Banks' signature many years ago. I met Rizzo a couple
- 7:06Speaker 1: of years ago. I've known Alfonso Soriano for a long time.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And of course, Sammy Sosa we met in New York
- 7:12Speaker 1: City at St. Patrick's Cathedral. So yes, I have gotten
- 7:16Speaker 1: to know some of the Cubs lore. Over the years.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And just to be there for that moment was emotional.
- 7:22Speaker 1: It really was. And it was what I like to
- 7:25Speaker 1: call Alex Bueller's day off. Spend at the friendly confines
- 7:29Speaker 1: watching PCA put together an MVPCA kind of year. And
- 7:34Speaker 1: you gotta love it. And the Cubs winning today against
- 7:36Speaker 1: the Marlins winning that series. Maybe getting back on track
- 7:40Speaker 1: here after losing the Reds and Brewers. We'll have to see.
- 7:44Speaker 1: But personally, it was a cathartic experience. It was a
- 7:47Speaker 1: fun experience. And proved to myself, I can travel on
- 7:50Speaker 1: my own, and I'm excited to do more of that
- 7:53Speaker 1: over the next years. I mean, my goodness, where did
- 7:56Speaker 1: we go this year, right? Cooperstown. Philly. Now Chicago. And
- 8:05Speaker 1: many more things to do. And of course, last year
- 8:08Speaker 1: in Boston College. Many more things to do as the
- 8:11Speaker 1: years progress, as we go to the drive to the 35.
- 8:15Speaker 1: We're literally a month and a few weeks away from
- 8:17Speaker 1: 35 years old. But that's my audio report from Wrigley,
- 8:22Speaker 1: from the Friendly Confines. And we'll get you more content
- 8:27Speaker 1: right here at One Look Up Alex Media. And thank you, Dad,
- 8:30Speaker 1: for making me somewhat of a Cub fan. My Yanks
- 8:34Speaker 1: are number one, but the Cubs definitely rank up there.
- 8:37Speaker 1: That's for sure.
