- Revisitation Rightspod: Hold on, I gotta pick out that little my dog's eating right next to me. I gotta have to do a little I gotta do a little room tone of that first. Hold on. Man, he's going to town. Welcome to the Presentation Rights Podcast. I'm Pat. I'm Brandon. I'm Justin. And I'm Jeff. Today we have a special guest in the house, Mr. Jeffrey Clark Jr. We threw the R U Y in there, like my mom or something. Government name. Okay, Patrick. I think watch a fucking mouth. Watch a fucking mouth. I think it I think it's the hair. You know, he he has that like you know, you gotta call him Jeffrey with that hair. Okay. He's he's not quite a Jeff, but he's like a Jeff Free with the hair. Sir Jeffrey. Sir Jeff ⁓ there you go. Sir Jeffrey. Clark Jr. of House ⁓ Sparta. How's Sparta? All right, so ⁓ today ⁓ shit. Pause today's there's no pause with a shit. My god choking on a chicken bone. You and your fucking po that I could well you know. That's questionable. All right, so a little bit Some basic facts about Alien released in 1986, has a current IMDb score of 8.4. ⁓ wait, sorry. This is the episode of Aliens with an S. Not Alien, but Aliens, the sequel. Released in 1986, has a current IMDB score of 8.4, is ranked number 70, which is fucking wild to me. With the combined Rotten Tomato score of 94. It made ⁓ 131 million on an estimated 8.5 budget. And since it is over. 30 years old, ⁓ with inflation that is a three hundred and eighty-five million dollar return on a fifty-four point five million dollar budget, which is I think you would kind of consider that middle of the road. Kind of mid like a middle of the road kind of blockbuster, right? So what was a what was a big blockbuster last year? That came out in the summer, was it? Was that Oppenheimer? Was that last year? That was two years. Yeah. So I guess last year you can kinda go sinners, right? Yeah. That kinda did around around the same thing, right? Three ninety, three eighty five, something like that. And then I can't even remember any big movies last year. I mean Weapons did kind of good, didn't it? Yeah, but I wouldn't I don't know if I would consider that a blockbuster. Like, cause Sinners had the hundred million dollar budget. You know, they had the big budget. I don't think weapons did. Anyway, it was written by J ⁓ James Cameron, David, ⁓ I'm gonna fuck up this name, David Giller, Guyler, Walter Hill, based on characters by Daniel Bannon, and Ronald Schussetz. Shoes it, shoes it. Shiz it sh it. Directed by James Cameron, starring Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, Michael Bean, Bill Paxton, and Lance Hendrickson. Rest in peace. And the for Lance Hendrickson? No, Bill Paxton. ⁓ I forgot he ⁓ I forgot he passed away. That's right. Huh. When do what was that? Two years ago? Last year? No, that was probably mid two thousand. I think it was around like two thousand ten. R no. ⁓ Yeah. I didn't know that. I didn't think really? I didn't I didn't know that. I thought it was r more recent than that. And the log line for aliens is decades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with the terraforming colony, but finds herself battling the alien queen in her offspring. So you guys did you did everybody see Alien without the S? Mm-hmm. The original? Yeah. Yeah. Long time ago. So I I ne sci fi's not my everybody knows sci fi is not my thing. ⁓ I I did see Alien though. Never saw Aliens. This is the first the first watch for aliens. Wow. And ⁓ there's a reason I get I'm It was pretty much a reason why I didn't watch it. And Wow. I'm I'm and I I don't know, man. It w it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Because when they said it was gonna be it wasn't horror anymore. It was more of a action movie. I anti Yeah, they I anticipated it going bad. But it it wasn't. I mean it was okay. Definitely I I mean For me it's definitely not close to the first, but I don't know how you guys feel, but for me it's not. Yeah, the first one definitely left more of an impression. Like the first one would have me looking out the window, making sure there's no aliens outside my house or something when I was a kid, you know. You checking under the bed? Yeah, like is there a face hugger? Like but the second one was definitely way more action. Compared to like a more horror. You know, it's like we gotta go fight these aliens. You know? So now Brand Brandon's the sci-fi guy, right? So explain, Brandon, because Goofy. It was goofy as shit. And you're the same. So why why was it goofy? Because you're you're the sci-fi guy. You're the fantasy guy. Why is it why is it goofy? Because you picked up this person who was in a stasis of Sleep and slumber, and then you woke her up, and then you're pretty much saying that we discount everything that you said. We're gonna go back to this island, this planet, and then go and search for these things that just wiped out her entire crew. Like, why would you do that? But then it kinda goes into them trying to pr d make profit over, I guess, like logic. That I did you get that as a ⁓ as an underlying message, the greed of corporate? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, especially after that meeting, bro. It was like I was like you you like she was there. Like you just not gonna you gonna cross off everything she said and experience and be like, Yeah, yeah, round two, baby, let's go. Yeah, nigga I don't know if it's register with you guys, but the guy from Aliens who was the you know the greedy guy. It reminded me of Gianova yeah, Giovanni Rabichi and Avatar. Like that greedy guy just wanted the the money. And Segorni B Segorni Weaver was in that too. And I was like, ⁓ that's kind of interesting. But ⁓ Fun funny you should mention that, but yeah they were so fixated on the price of the ⁓ the aircraft that was ruined like, ⁓ you know, it was like forty five million in ⁓ adjusted ⁓ adjusted ⁓ budget and and she was like yeah and my crew and they were like ⁓ Yeah we don't give a fuck about your crew. They were like, ⁓ well yeah forty five million is still missing so you know like we still lost forty five million though. Shout out to your crew. It's like Damn. Rest in peace. If if they're there, if they're there, bring ⁓ back. Don't worry about it. They said we smoking on that pack tonight, baby. So what other what other otherly messages did you guys get from the film? Aside from the greed and Ripley makes an awesome mother. You got the mother story? She will get you out of any and every situation possible. So yeah, they they really demasculated the ⁓ I don't know if that's a word, but they made the men very like they make they marry made the men feel like little bitches basically. You know what I mean? Like, what is this, bro? Why go past some little bitch and all of a sudden he was like, you know? And Segordi Weaver's like just tearing it up. And all the guys are like like even the guy who was like watching them, who was I forget his name, but he was in the control center for Segordi Weaver when everyone else was like doing their like fighting these aliens and he got scared behind the control panel, like Like, what the hell? Why is this guy scared? He ain't even in the fight. So I thought I was like, dude, thank God for like John Rambo and friggin' Arnold Schwarzenegger, you know, like Commando and all those like masculine movies. I thought I felt like they just made guys feel like little bitches in this one, to be honest with you. ⁓ which is not really my thing. But Segorni Weaver was awesome. I thought she did great. Yeah, we're all frantic. What do we do? Yeah, it's like what you're Marines, bro. Marines don't act like this. Yeah, that that so the The Marines acting like that kind of threw me threw me for a loop. Yeah. Like they came they came in all big and bad, and then before it even started to pop off, they they were kind of like co-toeing a cow toeing a little bit. So ⁓ kind of active. It played into the the ⁓ amplified fear of the actual aliens. I guess it aided in that, you know. Well the the marines are scared of them, they must be Pretty bad kind of deal, know? And I I think that's what separated the first from the second, because in the first they actually scared you. Like those fucking things were terrifying. Yeah. And in this it was more of a kind of you know, we'll kind of hide them, we'll make them feel like they're scary. But they got wiped out like that. You know, they kind of they were more like cannon fodder. for the story of the the mother battle between like you know the alien Queen Bee and Sigourney Weaver and her new little ⁓ her new little adoptee. Yeah it was it was definitely more of like a hive mind set of aliens than like intricate aliens you're trying to escape. Well they were all intricate and intelligent anyways, but it was like they all have the same thing like attack. humans. You know Independence Day. Whereas like the first one, like, it was more like You know, they they definitely played like you know, they played into the darkness a lot more of like of like just jump scaring you with aliens and I don't know. It was just more out in the open now. Like just seeing the alien. I'm not sure if they knew why well, you know, Cameron's not gonna do a straight horror like that. So I guess for him to kind of just take it, you know, he had to do it in the more action style. Because right before that he had Terminator, right? And then right after that, I believe he had Terminator too. I think Terminator was in the ninety like ninety-four. No, it wasn't ninety. I think it was like it it was either eighty nine or ninety. The second one? Yeah, I think Terminator one was like eighty-four, right? Eighty-four, eighty-five. Let me fact check you. Yeah, well, you we don't fact check. We take a guess right now. We take a guess and we let it ride. Terminator two was ninety-one. Ninety one? Yeah. W when was Terminator one? ⁓ that was in eighty four. Eighty-four. All right. So one out of two is not bad. So right before so right before aliens. So right before aliens, he had. He was on his action he was on his action grind, man. So I think one of the underlying themes that I kinda also picked up was she was at a you know, she was at the boardroom with all these s executives all suited and booted and it does it did feel like she was kind of ignored. Maybe it could have given that because she was a woman. I mean this also the eighties. Even still, the woman I wasn't I wasn't born in the eighties, so can you educate me on what it was like back then? Even still though, the woman the woman that was in that boardroom that was with the Seuss, she kinda like tried to negate her claims with like evidence. And then you know, Ripley just quickly fact checked her back. She was like Yeah. You gotta simulate. What? ⁓ my god. You don't have to assimilate. You can speak your mind. No, in that in that type of corporate, if you've ever been like a corporate kind of Do I look like a fucking do I look and sound like a corporate So I'm telling you, if you are in that type of ki hork ⁓ corporate hierarchy, then it it's better to assimilate and and think as one. Because when you kinda su sometimes when you start to branch off, then that could be your last day. And that's see, that's what's wrong with this country. I don't think But that that's that's a st that that's a that's a that's another podcast. That is it's the perfect CIA tactic, man. A non revisitation rights podcast. Let's put that one on Patreon. All right, so we're gonna do the we're gonna do the hot take segment early. I've been waiting I've been waiting for days to get this shit off because I mentioned it to somebody and they thought I was fucking crazy. ⁓ so my my hot take is that this is another James Cameron ripoff of a previous so like everybody knows Avatar is Pocahontas. I didn't know that. Bullshit. Everybody knows fucking Avatar is Pocahontas. I've never seen Avatar isn't know that. And your science fiction fan? You gotta see that. Nah, Avatar, that's that's that's a different type of science fiction. ⁓ okay. ⁓ So I feel like he just ripped off the entire Vietnam War. Okay. So now they sent Marines in knowing they were underweaponed, knowing they were outgunned, into an ail into a strange land. It's literally the story of Vietnam. And then they get wiped out. They lose. Like America lost the Vietnam War. So I think it was just I think it was just a whole allegory for the Vietnam War, personally. That was my hot take. They they told me I was fucking they told me I was fucking stupid. That's two hot takes in one. No, I am stupid. So that's not really a hot take. But the We all are. But the ⁓ Yeah, they they were they were fucking they were going crazy. I I think it's pretty much identical to how the Vietnam War was set up and played out. Greed. You got greed on both sides. You got Marines going into places where they shouldn't be, first of all. Second of all, they know they're going into just straight slaughter and they went anyway. And they lost. Yeah, as soon as as soon as ⁓ they wanted to get Ripley up there, I was like, damn, bro, like they're setting her up. And then Burke like shutting off the camera. And like Burke just trying to like completely sabotage all her motion. All her If I'm Ripley, I'm not going. Yeah, like I don't like from the beginning I was like smells like a setup, bro. Like this smells like a setup. Like they're trying to get rid of her. I don't know what they're trying to do, but ⁓ Well, I they needed like a tour guide, right? Yeah. Nah, you can look that shit up on YouTube. YouTube university, baby. They they might have had YouTube back then. We just didn't have access to it. I'm saying if my whole entire crew got wiped out, I'm not going back. Like I've I I've already seen this in real time. No one else has. Like I'm not like I'm not doing it. You're not getting me to go back and face these things again. Yeah, so question question, maybe you guys can make sense of this. So so she did decide to go back after like a a nightmare she had of the alien coming out of her stomach. Do you remember that? And she woke up and sweating and she went over and she called us like, you know I forget what it was, but maybe you can guys can remind me. I think it was the cat, right? She had a nightmare about the cat attacking her, like the alien coming out and it becoming the cat or something like that. Mm mm. No, it wasn't the cat that they only came out of her stomach. This is when she was still, I think that's when they just revived her. Yeah. And then that's when she called Burke. She's like, are we going to study them again or to like wipe them out? ⁓ that's what Cause I think I because I think after that dream, she was like, all right, like I've had enough of these things, bro. Like, I I feel I I might just go up there and just kill them all myself. Yeah, it's mostly she felt like she'd never be the same unless they were wiped off the face of that planet, right? Yeah. And then she met a queen. That was crazy. She got she got a daughter out of it. I saw the whole room. I was like, I was like, damn. And then it slowly there's a there's actually some pretty good visual effects and special makeup. ⁓ special effects makeup for that time. It was really good. Like I love the part where they see the alien for the first time. The guy turns around slowly and the alien's in the wall and it like it's kinda camouflaged in the wall and then like cracks his head out and jumps on the guy. That remind you reminded me of Rambo ⁓ first blood part two when he was in inside the mud. Remember that he was like inside the mud comes out and like you know like that. I thought that was really cool. ⁓ that stood out to me for sure. Yeah, they had a lot of great practical effects too, aside from like the special effects and everything. The practical effects were good too. So I mean technically the film I I liked it technically. You know, I it it definitely wasn't it de ⁓ it definitely had didn't have that anamorphic feel like Alien had. ⁓ which probably was I don't know. I think it kind of hurt it a little bit. Cause you really wanted to exp because it the first hour in 10 minutes was boring as shit. Yeah, it was really slow. It was really, it was really fucking slow. It was a lot of informational stuff. Yeah. I mean that's that's the action setup, right? You you feed everybody with the information and then boom, you jump into the action. Yeah. ⁓ but I mean a lot of that shit could have been ten condensed. Twenty minutes. And then right get right to the ⁓ right to space. True. But it was it was more of ⁓ Like just the feel of the film, it didn't feel like the first one. Like look wise, like it it it felt more claustrophobic than the first one did. The first one felt like a very big scope, which is you know, you get the animal. You guys are hyped me up to see the first one. I want to see it. Well, the first one is more horror. Like it it kind of leans more horror than a lot of like jump scares. Okay. You know. Not ⁓ gotta check it out. Not like a gory, gory type of horror. I mean people get they there's a couple scenes. There's a there's like one that one scene that's gory. They do get, you know, like ripped up, but it's not like gratuitous gore. It's like unknown it's like unknown horror for a bit too. Like you don't really know what it is. So d let me ask you a question. Does does I've seen the s aliens, right? Mm-hmm. Plural. But ⁓ does it tie does alien tie into aliens? Like does it does it make sense as a continuation to you guys? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Story wise, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Film wise, no. It it kind of disconnected. It just ch it just changed genres. Mm-hmm. That it went from pretty much like a sci fi horror to A sci-fi action. I see. But like store the story was pretty continuous for the most part. I also feel they kind of made the aliens like a little pussified. Now they got active. First one or the second one? Second one. They got active. Aliens. Mm. Yeah. I mean they they had to because they were, you know, they were fa they were facing some marines. They wiped out a whole team of Marines. They weren't that. Ridley was really was driving out. And you know, the alien was chasing him. It's like, yo, you killed my brother. Come back. It was on some some some it was on some gangish. The way the queen ripped open the cyborg, I was like, dang. Yeah. And I was like, that's pretty crazy. I was like, it did really well with that. But now compare them to the first well, Jeff never seen the first. So compare them to the first. Those aliens aren't shit. No. The aliens in the first one definitely are like scarier. They're definitely that. It's like what did I just see on the screen? Leave them alone. Leave them alone. Yeah. Yeah, like everything from the first, why the fuck are you going back a second time? Yeah. Leave them alone. Like, no, no. If I was her, I'd be like, nope, I'm moving to San Diego. I'm gonna the whale's vagina. I'm gonna put my feet up on the beach. San Diego, the whale's vagina. Next. You ever seen Anchorman? Hell no. Why would I watch that? Nah, you gotta watch Anchorman, bro. Anchorman I don't like Will Farrell. I don't like him at all. I couldn't get Get him the fuck off my scene. Get him the fuck off my TV. You didn't even like Stepfellers. Fuck no. Brandon doesn't have to say shit. Brandon doesn't No, I do have a sense of humor. I love a lot of comedies. You have no sense of humor. No, I do. Nah, fuck that. You don't like comedy? You don't like any kind of comedy. Iron Man, the first one, is hilarious. Hilarious cause of how fucking stupid it was. Yeah, have no, no, there's jokes, there's a lot of, you know, witty comebacks. You know, it's dry humor. It's dry humor. Really fucking dry. Yeah. Like I just just even talking about that now. I gotta get some water. That's how dry that fucking humor is. ⁓ shit. Woefully, yeah. Well anyway. There there's no reason for her to go back up a second time after what happened in the first. So that that's kind of stupid. But cause the way those aliens were just fucking running through her team and just there's no way you're going back up. Yeah. Especially after they saw him for the first time. I was like, yeah, like they're done. They were like, I was like, Yeah. Yeah, I'm not ready for this. So let me ask ⁓ shit, dogs are getting pissed. So let me ask you a question. So if it was a little different of a movie, so let's say Sigourney Weaver gets up there and ⁓ what's the what's the kid's name? Newt? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So let's say Newt was a a xenomorph, but like in disguise. Brought them up there for slaughter. How would you feel about that? Instead of it being like a mother-daughter film? Where she kind of takes on the role of the mother and she does all the same movie, but the end twist is the kid Newt is the xenomorph. So dark, bro. So dark. That'd be terrible, man. It like breaks our heart again. Well, apparently. Because aliens Aliens 3 was garbage. What what's up? Xenomorph is a cyborg? Like ⁓ No, that's the the aliens. That's what they call them. Right, xenomorphs? Yeah. So they they call the aliens a xenomorph. So you're saying that the kid knew was a z was an alien? If she was an alien. If it was a fifth. We'd be all fucked up. Wait, hold on. So an alien one of those little face hoggers inside of her, or she was just an alien. No, it's hypothetically. Yeah, hypothetically. If they wouldn't hypothetically, if they took her over and they were inside her and they were controlling this little kid for when They know this team is coming up to, you know, to wipe ⁓ out. And then she gets close to him and she draws them all into that layer and then they all get wiped out. End of the story. No need for Alien Three. She says that word. Sorry, mommy. Mom, I need help. Well, I mean but think about it now, because they they I mean, they're not really going forward with everything I think alien iterations are going backwards, you know, Covenant and all these Romulus, all that stuff I think has taken place before. I don't know what that that timeline's all fucked up right now. But I I didn't watch any of it. Prometheus is also in the alien cinematic universe. Yeah, I think they were all before the first one. And then like one of them was before the second one or something like that. I I might go back now because I saw Alien. Now I saw Aliens. And then so just for shits and giggles, I started Alien 3. Ugh. And I was like 20 minutes in. I was like, ⁓ shit, I saw this already. I remember not I remember not liking it. But if I'm if I'm three movies in, they have Romulus, right? Prometheus. That was the one that came out a couple years ago. That was supposed to be good, right? Yeah, that was good. And Prometheus? Prometheus is before, I think, all of those. Yeah, I think that's before. The white guy? Like all white. Yeah. Yeah, I see that. Yeah. But I did see Alien and Predator. Yeah, I saw that. Shout out to Predator, man. So it was goofy as hell. Shout out to who now? Shout out to Predator. He was one of my favorites as a kid. I was like, yo, how is that? How did they even make that into a mask? I was like, I like that. It's my guy right here. I mean, you know where they got the inspiration from, though. Just look at him. ⁓ The Vikings? No. He saw Sanaya Lathan and he was like, my sister. What ⁓ what happened to Predator? The last couple movies have been shit. I know. Well, no Danny Glover's wasn't too great either, let me tell you. I know, but you know what? It was entertaining. It was entertaining, but it was just like, come on man, really? How how you knew from Predator with Switchnegger to this? Like this just Yeah. But it was still entertaining. Badlands, was it was that any good? I didn't like it. I heard they made it real goofy too, like, you know. Jokes and shit and satire and I it it kinda started continuing the way Prey was. Okay. So like Prey had some like really, really good parts and then it has some really like what the fuck? And it kind of continued on the what the fuck instead of the really good Badlands. Like Badlands had some really interesting like fight sequences and stuff like that. Was Danny Glover in that one too? Da Danny Glover was not. I'm too old for this shit. He he was too old for that shit back then. I know. I know. You know you know what's fucked up? I think I'm older than Danny Glover was when he said he's too old for the shit. Really? I think so. Yeah. Well you are. Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman. Well, let me tell you you know, I think we should get Morgan Freeman to do our intro. We got that type of bag? Does he do cameos? Yo, just do like a quick ten second intro for us. Don't they don't they have that thing where you pay like a celebrity to say something on a video? Yeah, cameo. What is that called? I think so. Cameo, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, let's let's let's get a Morgan Freeman cameo. That would be sick. Wait, so we'd be like, Yeah, yeah, we only we only got my hot take. We only got your hot take. And I don't know if anybody else thinks it's a hot take, but I I'm still trying to define a hot take. I don't know what y'all are talking about. I mean like something that's something that's controversial that would go against what everyone would agree with or think. Mm-hmm. Okay. Okay. Then that was pretty good that. I don't know. Maybe my hot take would be that we ⁓ Segornian Weaver, we might We might have to have a conversation about that. About what? She's a terrible mother? No, I'm saying, you know, like looking at her and you know, I think she's a very underrated actress and you know, she might have been one of the best looking actresses of that time. She was slept on. That's why I said we might need to have a conversation. So what what's her somebody pull up her ⁓ her IMDB. What around that time, like from like eighty to let's say like ninety five, what's her Ghostbusters for sure. Aside Ghostbus, 'cause we Ghostbusters and we know aliens. And I I I'm pr you know, I sometimes I get her and Susan Saranda mixed up a little bit. 'Cause they're white. I'm scared. I think so. There's there's a lot of actors like that, man. That I get mixed up too. They don't look alike. Like I don't know why. Like Segorney Weaver and I but I can see no, I I can see how it can mix them up. Okay, so she had Alien and seventy nine, and she had eyewitness, so year of living dangerously. After that was deal of century, Ghostbusters, one woman two. Half Moon Street, Aliens, Gorillas and the Mist, Wild. ⁓ I like that was a good that was a good movie. That was very good. Working Girl, Ghostbusters two, Alien Three, Fourteen Ninety Two, Conquest of Paradise. By that time we're in the nineties. Yeah. Go ahead at ninety five. What else does she have? ⁓ she has Dave, The Wild Swans, Death and Maiden, Copycat, Jeffrey, and I copycat was good. And then I I mean she was phenomenal in ⁓ Cabin in the Woods. Her small little section she had. I'm trying to think what was the last thing I seen her in. Avatar, probably. You saw Avatar? I saw the first one. Yeah. She was yeah, she was in Avatar. After the first one, I was like, I can't I can't ⁓ As far as like blockbuster films like that? She was in Wally? Avatar. She's gonna be in the Mandalorian movie. I had no idea that's an easy movie. Wally, that's crazy. Is she is she play is she playing Ripley in the new Alien movie? ⁓ the new Star Wars movie? Did you watch any of the Mandalorian? Are they are they doing like a We know my take on Star Wars already? Well, Mandalorian is probably one of the most popular T V shows in I would say the past like five years. The first two or three seasons at least. Listen, af after last week I can't I can't listen to your opinion on T V shows. Well, I mean you you I mean you've been wrong. No. No, absolutely not. Any anybody that picks succession over the Sopranos should be found? In the porch. But you haven't planned, then the heck, man. This guy just talking about he's talking about shit that he hasn't finished. Like he stopped at season one, episode three. I I stopped at season one, episode one. Right. So you have no you have no like nothing to gauge it off of. Yeah, yeah. It was shot it was the way it was shot is an automatic no for me. This guy always talks about bad writing, but then when there's good writing, he's like, nah. I can't watch it. If it it makes me nauseous. Put that shit in Premiere Pro and put that shit on stabilizer a hundred percent. Put that on warp stabilizer. It's gonna be doing this. So I I gotta download the whole season and then just throw the fucking warp stabilizer on it. Put it on a projector. Be like, ⁓ it's better. No. No. ⁓ yeah. But yeah, I think I think we have to have a conversation about some money. I don't I don't think so. I don't I don't I don't aside from Ghostbusters. I mean Dave Dave was good. Copycat was good. Like Gorillas in the Mist was good. Cabin in the Woods was good. But I mean I don't I don't think she really had that that performance that would make you wanna have that conversation. She's very consistent, but I don't I think that she's done so much work that it doesn't like stick out as much. Yeah, I don't see a standout. She's consistent though. She's consistently good. And I think she kind of gets overlooked because I think she's in the same category as like a Meryl Streep Susie Sarandon, who you said. I I don't I don't think she has that Meryl Streep performance. I don't think she has that. Same generation, though. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, same same bearing. Yeah, yeah. I can see, I can see that. I don't know. I just don't I don't I don't think the resume would be up there to have that conversation about her. She is good. Like, you know, she's a professional working, you know, star. Like she's a she's definitely a movie star. But I just don't think she has that defining performance to really put her in the conversation with someone like, you know, Meryl Streep or even Julia Roberts, who's a little younger but still like at the tail end of that generation kind of thing. I don't I don't think she has that. Personally. She is good. Like I you know, it's not like she's a bad actress or anything like that. No, not at all. But ⁓ I'm taking Susan Sarandon anyway. Hey yo. No, not like not like that. I I like I like Susan Sarandon movies better. You motherfucker. I I know you're gonna clip that shit up. ⁓ man. You're definitely clipping that shit up. but yeah, I I like Susan Sarandon. They're they're a little more entertaining to me. Different movies. Yeah, yeah, diff different you know, they they kinda work in different spaces. So mm-hmm. She kinda leans more the type of movies that I like better. So who else got a hot take aside from Brandon's ⁓ Brandon's like a warm take? I don't think that was like a hot hot take. I think that was like a warm take. I guess if I were to give a hot take, it would be this movie should have never been made. Cause like, damn. Even I did even I thought it was okay. Like, why are you going up there for a fucking second time, bro? Like that's it. Call it quits, bro. Don't go back. Don't bring the camera crew up there. You can bring production up there, just call it quits, bro. So you think it was an unnecessary movie? Ripley, we need you back for advising. Excuse me? No. Fuck? No. Yeah. End of the movie. No. End of the movie. The end. Cause like I just saw an unnecessary slaughter. I was like. And on the flight, they were like, Yeah, bro, like these aliens, bro, like they're done. And then and it just it was just an unnecessary slaughter. And I'm like, damn. Like, you all got set up. This is crazy. Mind you, they went for the first time, all that evidence, they were just like, Let's go again. Round two. But I don't know, I kind of feel like they wanted to make it like ⁓ was it rated R? Yeah. It was rated R. Okay. P G thirteen. No, I mean it you didn't really see much there really was not much. And back in the day it was a little harder to get an R than you know it is now. Now I think you say motherfucker and that's it, you get an R. Yeah. So I mean so They so like it ⁓ as Justin was talking, I was thinking they could have taken this a completely different direction where say R ⁓ Ridley she refuses to go and they're like we're gonna go anyways. All hell breaks loose and then you know something happens to where they make I guess that ship come back, but it comes back with the xenomorphs on that actual base. Like that could have been also extremely interesting. I like that. Because it could also it could also went into Ridley. With her anxiety, kind of her depression kind of working while she's like, ⁓ I don't know what's going on over there, but I'm a little anxious and then ⁓ they came back. Everything's all good. And then the xenomorphs get on that database or the the ship and then just all fucking hell. What? She's she was anxious. Like the whole evaluation and stuff after that first one. Yeah, she took that she took it out on the xenomorphs. She took it out on the xenomorphs. And you saw how that turned out. You see how she got over it. She's good now. You saw how that turned out. Yeah, but everyone's ⁓ boxed up. Don't worry about them. She's good. She's chillin'. The android, half his body, you gotta worry about that. That's the lesson of the story is worry about yourself. Take it out on the morph some whatever happens, happens. ⁓ so you're saying they're all friendly fire? They're just this. Yeah, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. I mean, they right, that technically, I mean, if you really want to get technical, they're Marines, right? So technically they are only numbers. But they still have families. Yeah, but I mean people treat them as numbers, right? So There you go. I would have liked to see at least one Marine survive. So it's somewhat realistic. That brother shouldn't have been up there in the first place. That's my hot take. At le let one frickin' Marine survive. It's ridiculous. Not one. Not one Marine. The highly trained soldiers that do this for a living. Not one survived? Like, come on, bro. And and the one without any human computing survived for most of it. Right? Lance Hendrickson was the AI. The Android. I forget his name. Cyborg, that guy? Yeah, he was the Bishop. Yeah, he was the Android. Bishop, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. Yeah, I didn't I don't count him. He was a frickin' robot, you know. But I mean they they made those Marines real fucking goofy. We know Bill Paxton, right? Bill Paxton. Yeah, Bill Paxton. He was talking about overacting. ⁓ my god. Crying every ten times. By the way, twenty ⁓ twenty seventeen was when he passed away. Twenty seventeen. Damn. He was that was almost ten years ago. He was in Twister, right? Yes, he was in Twister. Yes, he was great. He was great in Twister. Yeah, Bill Paxton's a great actor. Yeah. But this one, he was it was just too goofy. Like, yeah. Get it together, sir. Get it together. We're on a mission. I I think that also plays with the times, too. Like, you know, a lot of yeah. A lot of the action movies are real cheesy. Like they didn't really care about dialogue. Definitely eighties core. Yeah. Go. Some of ⁓ Some of ⁓ yeah. Some of them. I like the one I actually like the one liners. The the one liners like are straight eighties and I love that. But it was just too over the top. It was like overacting way too much for me. Like it's just unrealistic, you know. ⁓ and then you like look you're just like, Would somebody just kill this guy? Yeah, right. Go get Jesus. Yeah. Yeah, so look, sacrifices need to be made. He should have been the first one to go. That's what I think. ⁓ I I'm trying to remember. I don't remember the girl's name that was also on the Marines, but she's like, I don't care about anything. I'm ready to go and fuck them up. And then Reddy was like, No, I don't think you understand. They fucked up my entire team. And they Vasquez, right? Vasquez? Yeah, that's like the Finnish lady was doing the pull ups with one handana. Yeah. That's why they got smoked because they underestimated they underestimated their i their their opponent. They thought that they were just gonna go and smoke everyone and then Yeah, they thought they thought this was like they thought it was a video game. They were like, Yeah, we're gonna have fun. We're gonna shoot stuff down, we're gonna shoot aliens down. Then they got face huggers just You know who else underestimated? Who? The Americans when they went to Vietnam. ⁓ I'm saying it lines up fucking perfectly. It makes sense. Just like he bit Pokemonis, he did this with the Vietnam. Vietnamese soldiers coming out the the little holes and they're like, yo All those little all those little bombs that that were ⁓ hidden. Yo, that shit was crazy too. When he when the one guy stuck his head up into the ⁓ the the ducks, the air vents, whatever, and all of them were coming towards him. I thought that was like that was awesome. I actually thought he was gonna like chop his head off at one point. I was like, dude, get your head down. Like as they were like crawling through the tunnel after him. He got so scared he started shooting like on his way down. He was like, no. I remember that. Yeah. That was a great shot, but that was like a great setup. I collect that shot. Still they they had a lot of like real great technical aspects of the film. Yeah. So I I don't know, I just the the story didn't really really do it for me. Especially coming from from Aliens One. I guess that's my fault. I guess I guess that's my fault for expecting it as like a straight continuation. But once I saw James Cameron did two, yeah, I I kind of knew it wasn't gonna be a horror. Well you know what they say is it's very difficult to replicate the first, like to make it as good as the first. Any of these like Hollywood movies, you know I mean? So were you expecting it to be better? Or were you just like No, ⁓ not better, but I I didn't expect it just to kind of take the turn that it took. So I I didn't I wasn't expecting like a straight action, no horror type of movie. I thought it would kind of little continuation. I wasn't expecting an hour and ten minutes of, you know, in the corporate office you know, in the corporate office. And then some I mean, there was some weird shit in the first, but not like the second where, you know, it w it was like real like last action hero one liners type, you know. And I love that movie, but it's it's meant to be like that, yeah. Yeah. That was meant to be like that. This wasn't that's what I'm saying, yeah. Yeah, so it was a little like that, yeah. Get to the chopper. Get to the chopper. No. It's well it's funny. It's funny because Jeff, you said that you it's very difficult to replicate off the first one, and I feel that he was able to achieve better success with Terminator two versus Terminator one. Yeah. Well which few and far between, right? That's true. Yeah. I would agree with What do you think was the better movie though? Terminator One, Terminator Two? Yeah. I I'm I'm gonna pick Terminator Two just because of nostalgia. ⁓ I think I've only seen Terminator One maybe once or twice and it didn't it didn't s it didn't land for me. See, I liked one better, but I thought two was the better movie. I just I personally liked one Jess Face. Wait, what do you mean? So So like I liked You said you liked one better, but two was a better movie. What do you mean though? Yeah, like I can I can judge it, you know. Like fairly I'm serious. I'm curious. Like w what makes you say that? Two had the better story. Okay. Two had the better ca two had the better characters. Two was just a better interpretation of one, but I personally enjoyed one more. Why? It was a little more fun, a little more the action was a little different. Like it it just felt like a fun sci fi type of movie. Where Terminator two, you're starting to dig into backst like you're starting to get a little deeper into the backstory. You know, you got more characters involved. Like you now you kind of you want to see how it ends for John where, you know, before you didn't really like you didn't get attached to the characters like you did in two. So I think two was like a better, like f if you're going by judging it like film film, not just straight entertainment, I think two is better. But for me, I just happen to like one a little more. It's the original. Fair enough. It's the OG. Yeah. But if we're going Godfather, I prefer two over one. Okay. There's another example, Brandon, of the the second one being better. This fucking guy never seen Godfather. ⁓ really? I I started it and then I kinda I got kind of bored, so I kinda turned it off halfway through the movie. It's slow. It's definitely slow, but it's yeah, it's it's it's a very slow movie, and I'm like, I don't really care about all this shit. Yeah. We gotta get past the f the wedding. Once you get past the wedding Then everything starts to the wedding was kinda where I was like at an impasse. I'm like, should I continue or should I go outside and, you know, walk, take a walk, go skateboarding, go take a cycling class, do something active. Take a cycling class. You got your you got your little fucking bike shorts on the Peloton? No, I actually do have I do I actually do have those those pants, but you know I have to wear like a oversized shirt in the morning, but you know. Okay. Hot takes, right? Go back to aliens. Do you think that these aliens exist somewhere out there? Like in real life? Like in real life? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You think these type of aliens exist? Face huggers? Yes. Yeah, they like they like I hope not. Insert like a an egg in you? I really I really hope not. You think that is that would suck. It w it it would suck to air. That would not be chill at all. That would be horrible. I mean as long as he doesn't go dick first, I'm okay. Hey yo. Here's a hot take. So here's a hot take. Aliens is a aliens is a true story. I mean that's who knows? Maybe maybe James Cameron has some Sotychology. He's like a couple of my ancestors told me this. A lot of movies are about to share with you. A lot of movies are showing us things in plain sight. Yeah, like quite literally. The Simpsons they've been doing that. But a lot of those directors kind of meet their meet their fate. You got you got Stanley Kubrick, eyes wide shut, all of a sud all of a sudden. Allegedly. Yeah, allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly allegedly. You not can get me not gonna get me mixing turn up in a box. I love my life. But think about it, if they wanted to get Cameron out of here, they probably could have did it. They could have did it when he went down to go ⁓ actually tour the the Titanic. Because he said that he did that before that whole the I guess the situation with the guy. And he said, like, this is I mean, I did it to get research, but that's not something that you should do. So that would have been the perfect time, like a very, very easy way to get him out of here. Well, I mean, maybe he wasn't stupid enough to go down there with a PlayStation controller. What what if we went down there and he and he saw these aquatic xenomorphs stoke like this? And that's why he made the movie. An octopus. What was that after literally the But e but even if you think about it, even if you think about it, what ⁓ like what is the percentage of the ocean that we've actually been able to explore? Like we can't because I think it was like two percent, right? Two percent? So we don't know what the fuck is down there. Nobody knows. Yeah. Like not ⁓ not a lot at all. There can be fucking people living down there and sit like civilizations, but we never know. I ⁓ mean, I I've explored up to here. That's about it. At the st at the South Beach Staten Island shore. Got got some goggles on, one of these. Yeah, yeah. ⁓ just a craft shows. That'd be funny. Yeah. ⁓ you're living life. ⁓ Yeah. That's such an interesting thing too. Don't don't they say there's like aliens that are already here? Like some people have these theories, right? They're aliens already here, but they're lizards and they take over bodies. Not the lizard part. Huh? I said not the lizard part, but I do think aliens are here. ⁓ yeah. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, so they take over the body and then, you know, they control it. Kind of like these aliens maybe. ⁓ the the lizard people I think I was reading about they call ⁓ they call them the Nephilim. That's what they call ⁓ yeah. And it's ⁓ they were they were mentioned in the Bible. It was ⁓ 'cause someone told me and someone showed me a a couple Bible verses and I was like that's weird. Time Yeah, like a yeah, like a fallen angel kind of thing. Hmm. A lot of these sci fi movies kind of feel very demonic too, like the way that the way the the ⁓ you know the aliens are. I I feel like sci fi movies is a good indication of like if you lead science with all of your life, like your life depends on science one thousand percent. No spirituality or anything involved. No matter what anyone believes, like You're doomed. You if you thrive and and depend on technology, like you're cooked. Like you can see it in Black Mirror, you can see it in you can see it in any kind of sci fi interpretation. Like if you Yeah. Like it's an aliens. It's done. 'Cause that that Marine team depended on a lot of technology, they got cooked with they were looking at those little things with the little dots kind of like, they're here, I just can't see them. Duh. Like, you know, it's like rough can they be if you see ⁓ Like they're above you and belong. You can't hear them running on the fucking the duct above you? Yeah, he's heavy ass aliens, right. His heart is pounding too too loud. He's like That was funny, bro. I was like, yo, I was like, he has no idea, bro. 'Cause I was like, once he opens that thing in season. So Joe. So Jeff, what'd you think about the film, Aliens? This is your first time watching it? No, I thought I saw it, but I think I saw the first one. So yes, it is the first time. So what'd what'd you wind up thinking about the movie for the first time? Is this something you would have watched without coming on the show? ⁓ no, I don't think so. I don't think so. But I love you know, being an eighties kid. I love the ⁓ just the nostalgia that it brings as far as like the practical effects. ⁓ the the one liners, even though Bill Paxton should have died way earlier. But I I felt like it was done really, really well for the for the time. You know? I've watched I would actually watch it again just to study it a little bit. So I appreciate you introducing this. Welcome. ⁓ I thought it was good. I thought it was ⁓ kinda like how Jeff said, like a a ⁓ classic eighties film. Like I was envisioning Michael Jackson and that girl eating popcorn, watch watching No, remember when he was eating popcorn in the movie theater with his date? Why a little girl? That's what they were supposed to think. ⁓ If it was Michael Jackson, it be a little boy. No, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. No, I didn't mean little. I mean like with like you know, like I was saying, like with a little date. Not like that. Stop, Justin. Stop, Justin. Stop, stop, stop. You're talking about in the thriller video when they're sitting in the theater. I envision them watching this movie. Like it's a classic eighties film. You know? That's a good point. Because you do the girls root. So like You know, during that time it definitely hit. You know, people definitely loved it. We're like, we gotta go to the movies and watch this. You know. not my cup of tea per se. Cause I'm kind of more on Pat side. Like, I'm not the biggest sci-fi type of fan. I although I am a sci-fi horror fan. I'm not a sci-fi action fan. Like action, I'm just like. 'Cause like sometimes my experience with some action, especially like then it's been on the unrealistic side, so I'm like you know, I'd I'd prefer the horror when it comes to sci fi. But I thought it was a really good classic film. Brandon? Yeah. I think it was a swing and a miss for me. A full miss? Yeah. Not even like a foul tip, just Nah. They didn't even hit the tip. Boom. That threw me off now. God damn it. ⁓ my god, that threw me off. I was about to say something that threw me off. I was gonna I have a question. Brand Brandy, can you compare it to any other 80s films where like where you can at least respect what was done with the film? Because it they obviously didn't have all the special effects they have now, right? Are you saying ⁓ sci fi or just the eighties film in general? Just the sci fi eighties film. No. Like I was trying to think. I think this is this isn't no. ⁓ the fog was in the eighties, wasn't it? I think it was eighty one with John Carpenter. Stephen King? No, John Carpenter. John Carpenter. ⁓ No. I think that was that might been late seventies. ⁓ I can't remember what that is. Fog. It's it's probably one of my favorite horror films. Nineteen eighty. So it was nineteen eighty. Eighty. So So it was horror-esque, but it's so creepy. And that's one of the movies that like even to this day if I'm wa if I'm watching it at nighttime, like I still get kind of scared. And I think they built on the foundation, the elements, the environment. I felt it was really good. I felt also like the soundtrack was good. The cast is also phenomenal because it was ⁓ Jamie Lee Curtis, her mom, ⁓ who also, you know, starred in Psycho. trying to think. There was the the gentleman who was in Halloween three, which was like the non canon one in the Michael Myers cinematic universe. ⁓ there was a lot of elements in that movie that really kind of pulled me into that genre that really got me like hooked. Cause I remember watching that as a teenager and just being terrified. Like I watched that in the daytime. But they didn't make it in 2005? They did, it was trash. I wanna have watch the original. ⁓ we're not allowed to say trash on the podcast, member. ⁓ well it wasn't aesthetically pleasing because they switched up they switched up the antagonists. Is that a wolf or a dog? I don't know. Is that yours or mine? Someone came in. Someone came in the house. She's like, who that? ⁓ yeah, that's not mine. It's my baby blue, man. She's ⁓ she's a pit bull husky. Mine. So she howls. ⁓ nice. She's sassy. All right, guys. That's it for aliens. So now where would you rank aliens on the alien and predator scale? So out of all the Predator movies, out of all the alien movies, where would you rank aliens? Since they're those are the two that are most closely tied together. Dang, I don't know. That's a good question. I I'd have to put that list together, but it's not it's nowhere near Predator for me. Predator is like up there as far as A movies. It's in our top three. So Predator's good. So let's do like So I'm not sure. Let's do sections like top tier, mid tier, lower tier of the group. Lower tier. Yeah mid tier tier. Mid tier. The only reason why I'll say mid tier is because if you're also adding in all of these new Romulus, yeah, everything Romulus, Covenant, Prometheus, then you you might, depending on I guess like how ⁓ connected to that universe you are, you might put all those in the the lower tier category. Also I know is the Danny Glover one, it's gonna be a low tier for me. Wow. I love Danny Glover, but yeah, that movie was terrible, bro. Shout out Danny Glover. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, Lethal Weapon was amazing, but nah, bro, nah. Not not predator, not predator, man. After Schwarzenegger, you gonna pull on Danny Glover for the show? Like that's an insult to the Predator, you know? Legacy, but I think I gotta do like mid tier also. I mean I li for sci fi I liked it. I just I I thought it could have been I thought they wasted too much time in the corporate office. ⁓ Like that's the ⁓ the hours up. Right. That's it. Aliens, come back. What what's today? Today's ⁓ today's Tuesday. So come back Thursday for Mr. Jeffrey Clark. Find out a little bit of information, see why he has Ben Franklin looks like smoking on a blunt back there. He probably did. Nah. He's not. Although my my eyes are a little fucked up, but that's that's what it looks like from here. It's also active. Franklin got active. Yo, Frank got active too. Well we shall find it. We shall find it.
