- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, it's Chris Miles.
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: You probably know me from the rise network and new on music grow.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Decided to try something a little different here.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: But buddy, Ann, of our over here, and I have known each other for quite some time.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: And well, I thought we did maybe.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, we just made yesterday, right?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, my bad.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, we could go.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: we might a week ago and we decided that you know what we like movies like that's that's our big thing we love movies so we were talking about movies and we're like you know what we should record this banter so that's what we're doing we're recording the banter so I'm Chris and this is cheesy popcorn welcome to the show we've got a lot to cover well every week we'll do like a
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: genre category type thing where we'll talk about movies that you could probably pick up at your local library or maybe you could stream on a platform somewhere or something like that.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: But then the main and that'll be the main part of the show.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: The beginning part of the show is we're going to talk about movies that we want to see like something that's coming out this week or movies we have seen.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: We'll also talk about a movie that we just saw and something that's coming out one or two movies that are coming out soon and that we want to go see exactly so not together.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: But that could be fun.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: It might be, you know, you leave the arm up, right?
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: Now you kind of get a sense in a feel for the way our minds work and stuff like that as well, too.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously we're just joking.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: But the thing we're not joking about is we both want to see fantastic for this.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we do.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: We do want to see fantastic for our I'm anxious to see it.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a big Marvel fan, a big DC fan.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: I love comics.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: I love special effects.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I grew up the first
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: movie like this that I would have seen probably the blob which Steve McQueen way back in the fifties and the special effects were nothing I mean just a big piece of jello coming through a movie theater so to see what they do now and and from you know
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: Just you guys know, I worked at ABC Television for ten years as a video producer, produced a number of documentaries.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also a stand up comedian and a songwriter.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I have some background in this.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like I'm coming to this blind and Chris, of course, radio on radio.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: He's got a show called
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: What's your show going to be one of those who grow right here?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: I knew I'm using it.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: You watch it all the time.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: So we have some credentials.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: But we're going to put those aside.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: We just want to tell you why maybe you might want to listen to us.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: But we both love movies.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: I love movies to the detriment of my marriage sometimes because I end up doing movie quotes which faces my wife off greatly.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Especially when our kids were smart, we do movie quotes around the dinner table.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: And she
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: didn't know a lot of them.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: So she would literally literally get up and go to another room.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: When we started that, but so we love movies.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: And we thought because we're both kind of wild and crazy guys, we're said it in our live fame.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: We thought you guys would enjoy us talking.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: When I think we're going to critique so much, it's just a point out some things.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like we might have an episode of characters that we thought were miscast in certain movies.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: I have my number one one, but I'm going to leave that.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: for later on.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: But we did just both see Superman.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: We did.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: So we should talk about not together.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: But we do have different feelings about that.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll let you start first so you can get your minute in.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: We do.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my one minute.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: This is all I got.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: So start the timer right now.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's got nineteen I got one by the way.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Superman.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Great movie.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was good.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: But the thing that I have a problem with is it was too much.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: There were five bad guys in the movie for Superman to kind of take down.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe I'm off by a number.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: But James gun directed it.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: And if you have seen his other movies, more importantly, if you've seen the three Guardians of the Galaxy movies, you know that James gun likes a lot of characters.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of what you got here.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: You got a lot of characters.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them made no sense unless
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: You have a little bit of comic history, and you know something about some of the justice leagues like the Justice League America, the Justice League Europe, all that West Coast, all that kind of stuff.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I know what he's trying to do.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's trying to set up one of the justice leagues.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: I hate Guy Gardner, by the way.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to say it.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: Never liked him.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Couldn't stand him as a character.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's probably to me.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of the worst green latiners.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sorry, you're going to, you're going to hate me for it, but I can't stand him.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a hell Jordan fan always have been.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: And some of the other green lanterns aren't that bad as well.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Ryan Reynolds did a good job as that was Greenlander horrible.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: I like them as Greenlander really like him.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh God.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: It was horrible.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: So what would you rate Superman one to ten?
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be on the night side though, because the movie was entertaining.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was enjoyable.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: To say something good about it, you've finally got to see Superman emotionally.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm thinking back by Christopher Reeve.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm over my minute.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I'm thinking back by Christopher Reeve had layers of emotion.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't get that from the last two Superman.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: And now you got it again.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the cool part.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like it was a lot of hype.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the movie's good.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like I wanted something more.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: And what I want is I want a new Justice League.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I want.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: What were your thoughts of the movie?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the question was, on a scale of one to ten, what would you rate it?
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was never kidding.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because I was avoiding that.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'd give it a seven out of ten.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm being nice.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, seventh.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: Good.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: Now I would give it an eighth.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: I would give it an eighth.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I agree with you and allow what you're saying.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the lowest Superman relationship was really like it might as well have been sleepless in Seattle at those points and it was I mean there wasn't a corny or seen in a movie ever than when the kissing and he takes her up in the air in the building.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: which is like, come on, really, the city's falling apart and he's taking a moment to go kiss low as length.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't care for that, but I thought that it was quick pace.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: It kept you interested.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: There were really no slow moments, except when he's sitting on the bench with his dad, which was kind of goofy too.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I agree with you.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: Christopher Reeve, for me, you know, I'm seventy now.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: The original Reeves, and I can't think of his name off the George Reeves, number one Superman, because I grew up with the black and white show, then Chris, then Chris.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, you can put him in after that.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: What do you want?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: But do you catch the homage to the golden era Superman with this costume and stuff, by the way?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: So that was it.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I kind of liked crypto.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: Crypto was a huge, that was a big surprise in a really nice surprise, in fact.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's about time he's got some screen time.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say that much.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I liked that they made them a regular dog.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I thought that was pretty cool.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I'd give it a night.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't put it at the top of my list of, I mean, endgame to me is still number one in Marvel movies.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that they're going to top endgame.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: That just was so amazing.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: If they go Spider-Man, no way out was good too.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: If they do sugar or is right, I think they will.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll talk about that when it comes up.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: The meantime, fantastic force coming out.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: Looking forward to that.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really looking forward to that.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's interesting that they set up the in the in the promels are setting up the baby.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Have superpowers.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: It kind of an homage to.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: the Incredibles.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right in a way in a little bit.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of saw that like, oh, okay.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: I got what they're going here except in the comics.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: They did they set that up as well, too.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: I understand.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my best.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's not my one.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a child.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm about the height of a child, because I live in your grandsons, my height.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll let you know what we think about fantastic four once we go see it.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: But we're not telling you not to go see Superman, by the way, because you go see it.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: It was a really good movie.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: If you're into DC and Superman and all that, effects were great.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: Too many, too many things going on at one time for Superman to even Superman to handle.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, exactly.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that this is setting stuff up for DC, and I think DC may now start to have the movies that those of us who have been looking for them for so long, I think we're starting to get to that point, we'll say it like that.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the line that was missing in this movie when he was laying in bed was his mom saying, you need to take it easier, no Spider-Man.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think that would have been a copyright problem.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Wouldn't that be cool though?
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I would have been funny.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: So that's it for what we saw and what we're going to see.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: We thought we'd start out by listening our top five.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because usually the conversation at least with me and I know you and I we had this conversation.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think the way that movie people relate to each other is they the first question you ask once you find out somebody's a movie fan you're like so what's your top five?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's kind of what sets the precedence for like what kind of movies you like and what you really pay attention to so that's what this episode did nuts and bolts of this episode if you will are going to be about our top five of all time
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: our favorite top five movies so I've had my minute already we'll give you your
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, my first question when I meet another movie buff is, what's your favorite snack?
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's a little different.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: But, okay.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, mine is Reese's PCs.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Reese's PCs?
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm an MP not kind of guy.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you would be.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I kind of thought that a bunch.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I feel like I'm not.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I don't.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you know.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's a different candy box.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: So, my top one.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's go from five up.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: How's that?
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Why are we going backwards?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Number five for me is Crimson Tide.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: good movie great movie great movie clatsy novel so yeah we've got that based on a clansy novel right based on a question of it absolutely and uh and a couple really good actors on it one of my favorite then Zell and Gene Hackman there's a couple other really good actors in there too oh what's his name is in there the uh
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: The NFL guy played with the Raiders and I can't think of his name long.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: How are we long?
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: How are we long is really good in this movie, by the way.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: If you like how we long, you're going to want to see this movie.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: As an X Navy guy, I really like the fact that they stuck really close
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: to what it's like to actually be in the Navy and the protocol and the chain of command and all that.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: It was realistic.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was very realistic for me having been there.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I liked it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: What's your five?
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: So number five for me would be seven.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: Seven.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: These are five.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: What's your number five?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: That is my number five.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: You said seven.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, my number five is seven.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: So there we go.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: Now you help with colors, too.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know my reds from my wife and the great movie.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great movie.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Except for the very ending.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the ending was made the movie.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: See, that's the part I hate about it.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's to me that is the worst line he has ever, I did not believe him at all.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not a Brad Pitt guy, but I like coming this.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and the for the for the majority of the movie Brad Pitt was excellent.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: But Ham and Gueneth were dating at the time.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: And for me, when he was like, what's in the box?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I don't believe you for one second.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: You don't care what's in that box because it just, it didn't, it, it, it, he was just jointed at that moment.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: However, Morgan Freeman, we've freaks in that, always.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: But in my opinion, the greatest serial killer of all time,
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: is featured in this movie.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, Kevin Spacey playing the serial killer.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, OK.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: And you rarely hear that.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's why you drew me for lipos.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you agree with me.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: OK.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: But tracker, like totally, he's in the next Spider-Man movie, by the way.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: So that's to me, the one of the greatest serial colors.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm a doctor fan, so we can talk about that as well, too.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: But that's TV.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so number four for me.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a big John Wayne Western kind of fan and he's made a lot of great movies, but I think his best movie on my list is the shootest.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I know I don't think you've seen it.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: So that's your promise you would.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is where I fail when it comes to movies.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: I've watched maybe two westerns in my entire life.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know, I know.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: And the Django Unchained doesn't count.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: So there we go.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: But the shooters was his last movie.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: He had cancer when he made this movie.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: And it's so realistic.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's such a great parallel of his life.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I thought, and it's the last movie he did with James Stewart, too, because there were close friends.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: And he's in it.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: And actually, who else is in it, is Ron Howard?
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I see a lot of young Ron Howard like Andy Griffith or you know like
- 12:45[SPEAKER_02]: Eighteen nineteen year old.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Round Howard.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: So happy days, Ron.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: Happy day, Ron.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe just before.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't know if it came up before.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a happy days, Ron Howard is really good.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: What's your four?
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: My number four is one of the greatest science fiction movies.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, time travel movies of all time.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: And again, this is my personal opinion, but back to the future.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: The original.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the not first one.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: The very first one, not two or three, one of the greatest movies.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now here's the reason why.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: So a couple of these movies are on my list because my cousins who lived in Green Bay had cable and we didn't, because back in the day, having cable was a thing.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: And we didn't.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: So what they did for Christmas and my birthday is they would send us a tape where they'd put three movies on the tape.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: and they record something off HBO or whatever they had at the time.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: So this was one of the movies that was on the tape.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: Now I happen to see this movie at a drive-in first before that.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: The movie after that was sixteen candles and at ten years old, what a bad movie to see for the second movie.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, that's why I was in the backseat.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: I digress.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: But so a great movie all around, you know, probably one of the greatest lines in my personal opinion from a movie, one point, twenty one, jiggle.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: What are we going to get that kind of electricity like this I'd love that like Chris Lloyd just absolutely amazing.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great movie.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's got a warm feel to it as well.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And my favorite country band took a song of theirs and made a video parody of the movie.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: So there's that as well.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: Old Dominant.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well this is how you know it was a great movie.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: There's an homage to it obviously in endgame.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: yes there is there yes there is and you get a movie like endgame and it pays tribute to back the future you know it's a great movie okay number three another one that you haven't seen because I really didn't know you weren't in two westerns i wouldn't agree to do this show yeah it's a movie upon newman is uh... maybe a lot of people don't know this move but if you don't look it up
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's a terrific Western called Ombre.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: HOMBRE, which is Spanish for man, for those of you who are not bilingual.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, it's a terrific movie for a couple of reasons.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Paul Newman plays a terrific role in it.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, written it's beautifully photographed.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know who, I don't think it's a John Ford, but the photography is sensation.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: It also has another one of my favorite Western actors, Richard
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: played Paladin.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I can't think of his last name now, they're in it.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: Is that Paladin Paladin from home?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know that because of mine.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, it's also, it was ahead of its time in this movie.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: It was ahead of its time.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't want to give it away.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: But if you watch the movie, you'll see why I say that.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's very relatable to some even some things that are going on right now.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: So so that's in my that's my number three.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people would say that Paul Newman was ahead of his time.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was for sure.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: So my number three is stand by me.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean with James almost.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: Oh the other stand by me.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, not that's damn by me.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: The standby me that is actually a take on a Stephen King short on novella as they call it.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it was a night shift.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: That novella was called the body.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's basically a story where five boys who are roughly about seven to eighth grade.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's one word about a train tracks.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, stuff.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: They go out into the woods because they hear about a local boy who got hit by the train and they want to see what a dead body looks like.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: great movie because it brings in the situation of what it's like when you're a kid and how you have so many friends and then you kind of realize as life goes on that that friend circle kind of diminishes and stuff and it's set in the fifties which is where then they and they actually sing the song to palette the title theme to palette as well as some other ones as well too.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: But just a great movie all around some great lines from that as well.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: My favorite one from that movie is all right.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: So Mickey's a mouse Donald Duck is Donald's a duck right.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Goofy's a dog or Pluto's a dog.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: What the fuck is goofy?
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: To me, that's the greatest line in a movie right there.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why it's on my list and my number.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: I have to get the beeper on that one.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we will.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite line in Ohmbury, by the way, is towards the end when the one of the guys that gets shot, one of the bad guys says, I would like to at least know his name.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then he dies.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: Which is great.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: Number two for me is another maybe little known.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: Actually was a Broadway play as well.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: Chaz Palmery branch tail with Robert De Nero and Chaz Palmery.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's what turned me on to Chaz as a matter of fact.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: That is a terrific movie.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think underrated.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that theater is long enough for people to really appreciate it.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: written by Chath's Pellmari, starring Chath's Pellmari, with Robert Deneer, who took a secondary role in that, basically, but played it beautifully.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't know, I think their friends, if they're not, they sure seem like they got along on this set, even though they're adversaries in the movie.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: But just a good movie about, it's a gangster movie in a way, but it's really a family values movie.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: It really is.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I like that one.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it's kind of an excellent soundtrack, as well.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: Great soundtrack, yeah.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: My number two can buy me love, which is a comedy that stars a gentleman that many of you may know from a TV show called Grey's Anatomy.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's a doctor on the show as well.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: What did they call him on that show?
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like Mr. Goodface or something like that?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: I figured with the common show.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty face or something like that.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a pretty mix dreamy.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's what it is.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know some of the dream I heard a mixture of voice in my head.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: Did you kind of like kind of like like the way Clark hears voices when he's in the fortress of solitude?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay, there we go.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right, but yeah, can't buy me love.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's can't be as hell.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it's got some great lines in it.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a fun movie.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's about how a nerd can actually get into the popular world of high school and be accepted in things of that nature.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it's got a great theme to it as well.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a great movie all around.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny if features a Beatles song as well too, so that's a plus.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a great watch.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: So if you haven't seen it, much it.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: You probably will enjoy it.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: I number one for me, Godfather too.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: A sequel.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: People would disagree with me because people would say, oh, Godfather one, Godfather one was great.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: It really was great.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: I could watch that movie over and over.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: But it doesn't really give you the backstory that Godfather too gives you.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I like the back and forth in the movie, but getting that word all started with the little boy and the mom getting shot.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think it just, and De Nero just played that young, curly-only.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely amazing.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: And let's build three of them actually.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: Two, two, patinos part in his, in his role.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: I, I just like two better.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: I would go two then one, in my opinion.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: Most people say it's one and two because you need one, just do two, but I think you could see two and still walk away having seen a great movie.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think I've never seen one.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I think this is one of those scenarios where the sequel is actually better than the original.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a very rare thing when that happens and the movie is usually the sequel is like.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the guy filed the three directed by his, uh, his, her, his daughter, uh, cobble his daughter.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: no, yeah, it's it's much a spider crawl up a wall.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's much more intriguing.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: All right, but she did redeem herself later in her career though.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: She has a couple of great movies later.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: She had a couple of okay movies, but she really she totally took the the the
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: She took a straight down.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: Number one for you.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: Number one for me.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Another Stephen King based movie, Shawshank Redemption.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: Andy DeFran.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, can you say anything more about another Morgan Freeman?
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Morgan Freeman too, but I think, you know, Tim really stole the show and this movie, I think it kind of set up his career.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: And after this, he was in a couple other movies as well too, where she was really what he did really well in and, you know, then he ended up with a fairly decent, you know, sort of what that James Whitmore.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great cast.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a great film.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it does take place.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think in the sixties or something like that, late fifties early sixties.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: The realism of that was incredible.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: And warden, the guards, I mean,
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: Just when I first started watching, and I didn't think I was going to like it.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then I just fell into I'm a fan of this movie.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: Me too.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's in my top ten.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is this is one that's in my permanent collection.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: I have watched it.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: I watched it at least three or four times a year.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: I do have a permanent collection.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to go down on your record.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you never have to iron it, right?
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: Not exactly.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: Perfectly pressed perfectly friends.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: So that's our top five.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Do you agree?
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Do you disagree?
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have others that you like as well?
- 21:55[SPEAKER_00]: Let us know in the comment section.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: Let us know if there's anything you want us to talk about in the comment section as well.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, we've got any topics you want us to talk about.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: Let us know any topics you want to talk about.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: If you want us to wear something different, if we're on a video, if we're just audio, if you want us to talk different.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: And we could we could do voices.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: We could do voices.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: I could do Irishman.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: That was a. All right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right,
