- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Good morning, Greg.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for having me.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: Kim, to start off.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: Could you share a bit about your background and what led you to where you are today?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I have spent over 25 years in commercial banking working my way up in the financial world from bank teller all the way to executive vice president.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: primarily focused on real estate and commercial finance along the way, I had a strong foundation in the understanding and wealth building, but over time I realized that something in my career was missing and I discovered it actually in 2022, I had a pulmonary embolism and as a result of that incident, I really evaluated where I was in my life and what I was doing
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: That path that I was following was just a journey that I followed because my father got me my first job in banking.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I just never left the industry.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: And what I was really called to do was to serve people and because of my niche in real estate and finance.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just felt right into.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Becoming a real estate investor and property manager for short term rental properties.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so in 2022 I left my job in Chicago, uprooted one to Arizona and started treasures and having property management.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing that your journey gives such important context for the work you do today.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Your company treasures in heaven property management has such a meaningful name.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: What inspired the creation of the business and how do your values show up in the way you serve your clients in community?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: treasures in heaven.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, it's it's deeply personal to me.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: It really just reflects my belief that the most valuable thing that you can build in life is not material, but it's impact that you have on people and treasures in heaven specifically comes from Bible verse and it's Matthew 1821 and Matthew 1921 says, if you want to be perfect, go and sell all of your possessions.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: and give to the poor and there you shall find treasures and happen and I really have just resonated with that my my whole entire life that everything is all about your connection, your community and giving and service work.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: So through the business, we utilize the treasures and have an in the business name specifically as a reminder as to what our purposes and yeah, so that's that's where it came from.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: Your values driven approach sets a beautiful foundation.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: That leads me to something we talk a lot about an I&TM series in our framework.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Responsible influence begins with awareness.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Tell us about a moment or experience where you thought you made a positive impact on someone's life.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: One where your presence, choices, or leadership truly made a difference.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I would say more recently,
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Aside from doing the short-term rental property management business, I'm also involved in women's coaching and one of the most meaningful impacts that I've found is just helping clients who really feel stuck in their life and their career just like what I was in my life to help them discover that there's something bigger within them and working with especially women who have
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: helping them overcome their limiting beliefs, worked through that process and really looked deep inside to find out what their true purposes and and converting that into more of a service driven pack where they can they can pay it paid forward on what they've gone through their experiences and give back and as a result also helping redefine their businesses and how they can create
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's powerful, you know, influence often works in ways we don't even expect and it evolves as we grow as a leader, how do you stay grounded, centered and aligned, especially when managing the challenges that come with property management and entrepreneurship.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest thing for me is really just starting each day with quiet time and whether that is in prayer reflection journaling meditation just simply getting grounded at the start of the day and remembering what my true purposes.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: We'll set the outlier for the entire rest of the day and it also helps me remind myself that I'm a leader and everything that I do, I'm a leader, I'm a servant and always serving with grace and care, compassion and just remembering again that reflection first thing in the morning of what the true purpose is.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: reading and journaling for me.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: Staying grounded is so key, especially today's fast changing world.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Property management requires trust, communication, clarity, and responsibility.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: These are all themes in our I&T series books.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: How do you cultivate positive relationships with your team, clients, and tenants while maintaining high standards and
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: I guess I would say that I start first off with, I would truly believe that in order to have clarity, you have to have compassion kindness and understanding for those that you're working with.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: In addition to that always setting clear expectations, whether it's.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: with a teammate, it's with a vendor, it's with a guest or an owner or a coaching line of mine.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: We have to start with creating first the expectation and goals and then sticking to those and then moving forward just always presenting yourself with a
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: that is so true.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: And if you can go back and tell your younger self advice, what would you give her?
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that it's okay now to have everything figured out before you start.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: I did not leave my banking career until I was in my mid 40s.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I probably, I should say not, probably.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: I definitely should have left it sooner, but I felt like I needed to have
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: I needed to have everything perfectly aligned before I could make any type of transition or move.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: And ironically, what I found was when I actually left banking after 25 plus years, solid career, great income, insurance benefits, everything that you could imagine it seemed perfect on the outside.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: I just up and left it and started over with nothing.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: was able to create way more out of nothing than out of everything that I had gathered over the past 25 years in the banking industry.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I would just say, really trust yourself when you're feeling that there's a calling or there's something bigger within yourself, trust it and move forward with it because waiting for the right time that, you know, it sounds great, but in truth it generally doesn't happen
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: at a such great advice, Kim, thank you for sharing that.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: In closing, what message or words of encouragement would you like to share with our listeners who aspire to make a positive difference in the world, whether in their beat business, families, or communities?
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Leave with the servants heart.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, first and foremost, always always think about what's in the best interest for the community as a whole, but still say centered and grounded on what
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, making making decisions quickly and moving forward is going to help you in your growth for trajectory.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: And also surrounding yourself with a really good core group of individuals that lift you up and resonate those same values with you that when you are feeling struggle, you have others there that can help support you and remind you that you do have the ability to to create and do everything that you want with your life.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: that is great advice Kim.
