- 0:18Speaker 1: Today we're going to discuss Baby It's Cold Inside, a
- 0:21Speaker 1: stand alone original Hallmark movie that must have been bumped

- 1:14Speaker 1: This movie Baby It's Cold Inside. Wendy, do you have
- 1:16Speaker 1: a synopsis?
- 1:18Speaker 2: I do about baby, it's cold inside. When a travel
- 1:22Speaker 2: agent up for a promotion is directed to forego her
- 1:25Speaker 2: tropical vacation to instead visit the world famous Iso Hotel,
- 1:30Speaker 2: she discovers her sacrifices are more than compensated. Compensated goodness.
- 1:39Speaker 1: All right, let's do news and notes. Okay, So this
- 1:42Speaker 1: movie was filmed in Quebec, Canada at the Hotel dig
- 1:46Speaker 1: Lasa in January, which is North America's only isotel.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Wait, so was filmed in January twenty twenty one, twenty
- 1:57Speaker 2: twenty one. I'm stuck in some sort of like time vortex. Yes,
- 2:01Speaker 2: twenty twenty one. So yeah, I could have easily been
- 2:05Speaker 2: one of like a New Year, New movie or what
- 2:09Speaker 2: was the other one you said, Winterfest?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Well, Winterfest is the old that's name.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It just.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It's like the filming. I didn't find anything about filming
- 2:18Speaker 1: being delayed because January is perhaps a bit late. They
- 2:22Speaker 1: do a quick turnaround. Is it possible they could have
- 2:24Speaker 1: filmed in early January and put it out at the
- 2:26Speaker 1: end of the month. Yes, but that is a pretty
- 2:28Speaker 1: tight turnaround, even for Hallmark. I don't I didn't find
- 2:32Speaker 1: any information about why this movie was released when it
- 2:35Speaker 1: was if you have information about that, we'd love to
- 2:37Speaker 1: hear it because it just felt odd.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Speaking of odd, I want to talk to you about
- 2:44Speaker 2: this only ice hotel in North America. What's again, Hotel Glace,
- 2:49Speaker 2: the Hotel de Glass would be my g okay, the
- 2:53Speaker 2: only ice hotel in North America. I mean, there's got
- 2:57Speaker 2: to be a reason for that, right, here's mine because
- 3:02Speaker 2: who wants to go to an ice hotel?
- 3:05Speaker 1: So what I was reading more information about this particular
- 3:08Speaker 1: hotel and they had said, obviously it's very cold inside.
- 3:16Speaker 1: The lead actor in this movie, whose name is Steve Lund.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Said.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It was the coldest I've ever been to my core.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He had to wear electric socks and undergarments and run
- 3:28Speaker 1: somewhere for extra warmth between takes. This was also used
- 3:33Speaker 1: in a previous Hallmark movie, Winter Castle, which was a
- 3:36Speaker 1: twenty nineteen movie, and there are no toilets in the
- 3:42Speaker 1: hotel room. There's spa with heated restrooms, so it says
- 3:47Speaker 1: guests are encouraged to plan their bathroom outing so they
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't have to use the restroom in the middle of
- 3:50Speaker 1: the night. You guys, wait, that stresses me out, Like
- 3:54Speaker 1: sometimes I have to pee in the middle of the night,
- 3:56Speaker 1: whether I've planned well or not.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I am confus us because I thought I
- 4:01Speaker 2: read that they rebuild this structure every year. It's only
- 4:07Speaker 2: open for like a certain number of the coldest months, right, correct.
- 4:12Speaker 2: So of course there's not going to be indoor plumbing.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But isn't there like some sort there's a spa in
- 4:20Speaker 2: the ice hotel.
- 4:22Speaker 1: They have to I mean, they have a bar, so
- 4:23Speaker 1: they have to have some sort of plumbing access, whether
- 4:26Speaker 1: that's from you know, it's not underground pipes obviously. Even
- 4:31Speaker 1: the glasses in the bar are made out of ice. Look.
- 4:34Speaker 2: A couple of weeks ago, you had mentioned here on
- 4:38Speaker 2: the podcast that you have a fear of ice hotels,
- 4:42Speaker 2: like you would not stay at one, right, So, and
- 4:44Speaker 2: I thought that was kind of funny. But now that
- 4:47Speaker 2: I was reading on this stuff yesterday and hearing that
- 4:50Speaker 2: you can't pee in the middle of the night because
- 4:52Speaker 2: there is no toilet, I would never stay in an
- 4:57Speaker 2: ice hotel. Never.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I wouldn't e either. It doesn't sound fun. There's no
- 5:01Speaker 1: part of the adventure that I would enjoy.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I have to.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Imagine that people It's not like they go and stay
- 5:08Speaker 1: for a week, right, you're going and staying for a
- 5:10Speaker 1: night just to say you've done it, and then you
- 5:12Speaker 1: go somewhere that has heat and indoor plumbing.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Well, Steve Lund was certainly not selling it in his
- 5:21Speaker 2: interview that he did how he was like, it was
- 5:23Speaker 2: cold to the bone, and you have to wear electric socks,
- 5:26Speaker 2: which I didn't even know where a thing agree.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I think that's all I have in news and notes.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It stars Jocelyn Houdon and Steve Lund as Hannah and
- 5:35Speaker 1: Ben and Steve Lund. His most notable role that stood
- 5:40Speaker 1: out to me is he played Jacon Schritz Creek for
- 5:42Speaker 1: four years. I have not seen most of that show,
- 5:45Speaker 1: so I don't know who that is. I know the show,
- 5:48Speaker 1: but I don't know who that character is. But that
- 5:50Speaker 1: was his biggest standout role. But they both have pretty
- 5:54Speaker 1: extensive acting histories.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I know, Shit's Creek.
- 5:59Speaker 1: No, I know, but the vast majority of what they've
- 6:02Speaker 1: been in.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Is stuff that I would never watch.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Probably.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Okay, all right, all right, let's move on.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Because it was your first impression of this movie, Wendy.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I hated it so much so I forgot to record
- 6:20Speaker 2: it the night that it premiered, so I flipped on
- 6:23Speaker 2: Hallmark Channel the next day and it was plain So
- 6:26Speaker 2: I was fifteen minutes late, and I was like, eh,
- 6:28Speaker 2: I'll start. What am I gonna miss in fifteen minutes? Right?
- 6:31Speaker 2: I will tell you that I did go back and
- 6:32Speaker 2: watched the first fifteen minutes on the friendly app, so
- 6:37Speaker 2: I have a yeah, thank you, But disclosure, I did
- 6:40Speaker 2: not finish this movie. After forty five minutes, I tapped out.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Wendy has placed the version of reviewing this movie squarely
- 6:48Speaker 1: into my lap. I had to finish this movie because
- 6:51Speaker 1: one of us had to.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I have notes, and I have a lot to say
- 6:54Speaker 2: about it, especially one part. But let me guess. She
- 6:58Speaker 2: gets a job at the Ice Hotell doing I don't
- 7:01Speaker 2: know whatever hotel management, because she wanted to do that,
- 7:04Speaker 2: but she was a klutz and got fired from her
- 7:07Speaker 2: other job. Whatever, she gets a job, am I right?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Okay? Well, let's let's let's finish this segment, which is
- 7:14Speaker 1: first impressions, because I would like to say my piece
- 7:17Speaker 1: since I had to watch all two hours.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Go ahead, go ahead.
- 7:22Speaker 1: My impression is something just felt off about this movie.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I don't know if it was the lack of chemistry,
- 7:31Speaker 1: the fact that this is an ice hotel in May,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and I can't really wrap my head around this being
- 7:35Speaker 1: a new movie. I had relatively little interest in either
- 7:42Speaker 1: of the main characters lives. I really didn't care about
- 7:47Speaker 1: Phoebe and Sean's rekindled relationship. I just didn't care good.
- 7:55Speaker 2: I thought you were gonna say opposite, and I was like, look,
- 7:57Speaker 2: we're quitting. We're quitting this Hallmark podcast. If you said
- 8:00Speaker 2: you were gonna like this movie.
- 8:01Speaker 1: One of our friends sent us a message and she
- 8:04Speaker 1: was like, I love this movie. This was a three
- 8:06Speaker 1: point two five stars for me and Michelle. We still
- 8:10Speaker 1: like you, but I was I went into it with
- 8:12Speaker 1: high hopes. Wendy had told me she hated it. Michelle
- 8:16Speaker 1: said she loved it. I'm thinking, Okay, this movie is redeemable.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry to say that it was not for me.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Well, so you have to throw my opinions out the
- 8:24Speaker 2: window because I hate everything for the most part. Also,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I had low expectations for this movie because standalone movies
- 8:34Speaker 2: are a red flag to me. They say this isn't
- 8:37Speaker 2: good enough to put into a promoted lineup. We're gonna
- 8:41Speaker 2: bury it here somewhere on the schedule and hopefully people
- 8:44Speaker 2: don't watch.
- 8:45Speaker 1: It, and this movie has the disadvantage. I'll say it again.
- 8:49Speaker 1: This icy ice hotel movie screams left over.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Right, and I see another low expectation. I do not
- 8:58Speaker 2: want to watch a wintery theme movie in mid spring.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I need summer. I need flowers, I need warm days. Something.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm beyond parkas and seeing somebody's cold breath. Over it,
- 9:16Speaker 2: over it, over it.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I one hundred percent agree. In spite of the fact
- 9:20Speaker 1: that I prefer winter to summer. Summer does not excite me.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I am excited for summer movies. I'm excited for I
- 9:26Speaker 1: like the idea of summer. I don't like being out
- 9:28Speaker 1: in the actual summer, but I love the idea of it,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and like the feeling the warmth on your skin and
- 9:34Speaker 1: pretty cute summer dresses and ice cold drinks and tropical locations.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I like all of that in my mind. And that's
- 9:41Speaker 1: what I want to watch right now. I want to
- 9:43Speaker 1: watch you on an island. I want to watch you
- 9:45Speaker 1: at a lake on a boat. Let's get there. Let's
- 9:48Speaker 1: have a grill. Okay, show me the grill. Oh my god,
- 9:54Speaker 1: so funny. Now did you like anything about this movie?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Zero things? Zero? Both things? I hated, like the stupid
- 10:05Speaker 2: twinkly lights and the like it looked like Elsa's Castle.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You know, That's what I felt like. I was watching
- 10:11Speaker 2: a Disney real life Disney movie Elsa's Castle. Like they
- 10:16Speaker 2: had those like carvings on the wall or whatever nonsense.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I mean, that would be kind of cool in person,
- 10:22Speaker 2: I guess to see, but not inside a nice castle.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I'm not staying there, Like that's like looking at a
- 10:26Speaker 2: sand castle, you know what I mean, Like, Oh, that
- 10:29Speaker 2: looks cool, but it would be neat to see. But no,
- 10:31Speaker 2: I hate.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I hated everything about it. Sorry, everything I liked. Did
- 10:35Speaker 1: you see the glass blowing? Probably not, that's too late
- 10:38Speaker 1: in the movie.
- 10:39Speaker 2: It was on. I don't care. There's a local like
- 10:42Speaker 2: craft fair that happens here every summer that they do
- 10:44Speaker 2: glass blowing. I've seen it in person. I don't care
- 10:46Speaker 2: about watch.
- 10:47Speaker 1: She recommend the Netflix show Blown Away, which I'm a
- 10:50Speaker 1: big fan of, and so I enjoyed that little bit
- 10:52Speaker 1: of glass blowing. I find it fascinating. So I liked
- 10:55Speaker 1: that little glass blowing montage. I thought Hannah was real cute.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I thought she was super boring, and I actually thought
- 11:01Speaker 2: she was the girl who played a fit for a prince.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You know, the one that made the dresses or whatever. Oh,
- 11:07Speaker 2: I thought that was her, but it's not. But the
- 11:09Speaker 2: other girl that worked at the Ice Hotel. Was she
- 11:13Speaker 2: in fit for a prince? Was she one of the stepsisters?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Don't know, don't know, and don't even care enough to
- 11:19Speaker 1: look it up exactly?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Okay?
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think Wendy in this category. I think you are
- 11:25Speaker 1: just wishing for those forty five minutes of your life back. Sure,
- 11:29Speaker 1: is there anything else you wished for? No, I want
- 11:32Speaker 1: to watch a better movie.
- 11:33Speaker 2: If I'm gonna invest an hour and forty five minutes,
- 11:36Speaker 2: that's like the time without commercials. I wanted to be
- 11:39Speaker 2: at least entertaining and good. I'm just so tired of
- 11:43Speaker 2: like the same format, the same thing. Girl gets a promotion, Oh,
- 11:49Speaker 2: she might lose her job, or I'm I'm not made
- 11:54Speaker 2: for homework.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I hear you well. In terms of what I wished for,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I think that we've seen movies like as Luck Would
- 12:03Speaker 1: have It and Mix Up in the Mediterranean, where the
- 12:05Speaker 1: location furthers our enjoyment contributes to our enjoyment of the movie. Sure,
- 12:12Speaker 1: but they were not relying on those locations to carry
- 12:18Speaker 1: the movie. There were other factors that were enjoyable, and
- 12:21Speaker 1: I wish they hadn't put so much weight on this
- 12:25Speaker 1: Ice Hotel to carry the entire movie, because it is
- 12:29Speaker 1: a frozen box and it cannot make me interested in
- 12:37Speaker 1: this movie. Unfortunately.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I have a question for you. So this was the
- 12:40Speaker 2: same hotel It was featured in Winter's Castle from twenty nineteen.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Do you remember that movie? Did you ever watch that movie?
- 12:46Speaker 1: Did watch that movie?
- 12:48Speaker 2: Did they have a similar storyline?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Honestly, it was not so ice hotel focused. I think
- 12:57Speaker 1: there was a wedding happening there. I don't. Honestly, this
- 13:00Speaker 1: movie was about the Ice Hotel. This was like a
- 13:03Speaker 1: promotional movie about ice hotels and the Ice Hotel and
- 13:07Speaker 1: owning an ice hotel. And no that movie, the Ice
- 13:11Speaker 1: Hotel was the backdrop, but not the plot.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Got it? Got it?
- 13:19Speaker 1: Okay? Are you ready for digitsing that?
- 13:21Speaker 2: Because I have a whole bunch of them. I'm gonna
- 13:24Speaker 2: say I have a whole bunch of my forty five
- 13:25Speaker 2: minutes that I watched. All right? First of all, if
- 13:29Speaker 2: I can stop start, please, So what's his name? His
- 13:34Speaker 2: name is Ben? Right? Correct, he's showing Hannah like the rooms.
- 13:39Speaker 2: First of all, he's like, oh, your bed blah blah blah,
- 13:43Speaker 2: it's made of ice. And then he says like, but
- 13:45Speaker 2: you'll have a super like warm sleeping bag. Nobody wants
- 13:49Speaker 2: to sleep on a block of ice, like for real,
- 13:53Speaker 2: that's awful. And then she's like, oh, the fireplace is
- 13:57Speaker 2: so cozy. I was like, the fireplace is likely melting
- 14:01Speaker 2: the roof above your head, so like that I would
- 14:04Speaker 2: be nervous all night long. No, that's right.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yes, there's a scene later in the movie, toward the
- 14:10Speaker 1: end where the other hotel worker woman, Yeah, she plays
- 14:18Speaker 1: the key role in the movie. Actually later and I
- 14:20Speaker 1: can't think of her name, but she goes into the
- 14:23Speaker 1: room with Hannah, and Hannah's about to adjustifier and she's like, oh, no,
- 14:26Speaker 1: we don't let guests touch it because it could release
- 14:29Speaker 1: too much heat into the room and then that would
- 14:31Speaker 1: cause the ice to begin to melt. And I'm thinking
- 14:33Speaker 1: this is way too stressful, thinking about balancing the level
- 14:37Speaker 1: of heat that this is giving off so that it
- 14:39Speaker 1: warms the room but not enough to melt the ice.
- 14:42Speaker 2: No, thank you, yeah, no, thank you? Agree, Okay, what
- 14:46Speaker 2: about you? Did you see that? I still have lots
- 14:48Speaker 2: more so, well, let's stick with the bed because she
- 14:50Speaker 2: wakes up and she's completely surrounded by candles. Yeah, how
- 14:54Speaker 2: is that not emitting some sort of warmth?
- 14:57Speaker 1: That's not my concern. She's literally on a bed surrounded
- 15:01Speaker 1: by candles. You're not gonna like accidentally roll over into
- 15:04Speaker 1: the candles and light your cozy sleeping bag on fire.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Your hair is not gonna fly, and you're gonna have No,
- 15:12Speaker 1: we don't put candles on our bed. Can we agree
- 15:14Speaker 1: not to put candles on our bed even if it
- 15:18Speaker 1: is made of ice?
- 15:19Speaker 2: Is this supposed to be romantic? Or was that the
- 15:21Speaker 2: light that she had in the room because I am
- 15:24Speaker 2: guessing the Iso hotel doesn't have electricity.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Sure they could have provided light with a candle that
- 15:30Speaker 1: was not directly on her sleeping surface.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I mean, it is very dangerous to have.
- 15:38Speaker 1: A lit candle on your bed.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, on your bed in your bedroom, yes, totally in
- 15:44Speaker 2: your bedroom.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Is one thing on your bed? No, ma'am?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I want to know, did you notice that
- 15:51Speaker 2: the badge of the worker woman since we don't know
- 15:54Speaker 2: her name, you know, it's like she's wearing like a
- 15:57Speaker 2: jacket from the hotel and it's just called Ice Hotel,
- 16:02Speaker 2: Ice Hotel. It doesn't have a name, just Ice Hotel.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I'm like, can could the props department come up with
- 16:08Speaker 2: something better than the megapatch something? Geez so dumb? Okay, Oh,
- 16:14Speaker 2: another thing, this is about the hotel specifically, Ben and
- 16:20Speaker 2: Hannah are like, walking through the hallways, did you notice
- 16:24Speaker 2: that each room is only partitioned off by a hanging curtain?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yes, and in fact, that is how it is in
- 16:31Speaker 1: the hotel. They said, the hotel is quite secure, but
- 16:34Speaker 1: there is only a curtain in your doorway.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Nope, nope, no, totally. Well, first of all, I'm not
- 16:39Speaker 2: even like that feels very unsafe for me, Like, I
- 16:44Speaker 2: don't like that at all. But what if sounds from
- 16:48Speaker 2: other rooms?
- 16:50Speaker 1: It's a hotel.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Partitioned with curtains, It felt like a dressing room. Like no, no, no, nope, nope, nope.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I mean, obviously can't build doors out of ice. I
- 17:02Speaker 2: see the problem here, But curtains, Now, this feels more
- 17:06Speaker 2: like camping than a luxury hotel experience. Well, there's glamping
- 17:12Speaker 2: that's more luxurious than this hotel in my opinion. Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 2: go ahead.
- 17:19Speaker 1: When her mom facetimes her from their cruise, the horrible
- 17:24Speaker 1: green screen tropical scene. Behind her, there's a little steel
- 17:28Speaker 1: drum playing. She's holding a fruity drink. That was so bad.
- 17:34Speaker 1: So everything about the staging of that was embarrassing.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I agree. I agree back to the top of the movie,
- 17:41Speaker 2: and I have this as a later note because I
- 17:43Speaker 2: went back and watched it. But did I hear correctly
- 17:46Speaker 2: that Hannah's boss asks her to forego her planned vacation
- 17:52Speaker 2: to check out the new Ice Hotel instead, Like, wouldn't
- 17:56Speaker 2: that be like a review trip paid for by the company.
- 17:59Speaker 2: She's not foregoing like her vacation days to go look
- 18:03Speaker 2: at this hotel, and then a promotion hinges on it.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It's such stupidity. Whoever wrote this movie, I hate it.
- 18:13Speaker 1: You heard that correctly, and that is one of my
- 18:16Speaker 1: notes as well. She has a planned vacation with her family,
- 18:20Speaker 1: so you assume that she has requested this week off.
- 18:23Speaker 1: She's going on a cruise with her family and a
- 18:26Speaker 1: friend's family as well, and her boss goes, actually, we
- 18:29Speaker 1: need you to take this other trip, excuse me, and
- 18:32Speaker 1: she just goes, oh, okay, I mean like she pushes
- 18:34Speaker 1: back the briefest moment, but then she just goes on
- 18:40Speaker 1: the trip as if it's no big deal that she's
- 18:43Speaker 1: had to, as you said, forego her planned vacation for
- 18:47Speaker 1: a work trip. Yeah, and money that she has lost
- 18:49Speaker 1: on that.
- 18:50Speaker 2: King seriously, so dumb. And then she's like, well, I
- 18:53Speaker 2: didn't want to tell you, but you could be up
- 18:55Speaker 2: for the manager position for wintery vacations. I would be
- 18:58Speaker 2: like GTFO, going on my vacation and then we will,
- 19:02Speaker 2: you know, work on that when I get back.
- 19:04Speaker 1: No, the Ice Hotel will hopefully not have melted in
- 19:06Speaker 1: the next year.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Exactly. Okay, Well, I get if there's some urgency that
- 19:10Speaker 2: the hotel is only open between certain dates and they
- 19:14Speaker 2: need her to go right away, but these are but.
- 19:18Speaker 1: They figure that out, you need to go tomorrow. There's
- 19:22Speaker 1: no other advanced planning in this. They've just exactly, oh,
- 19:26Speaker 1: we're gonna open this Icy Vacations and we got to
- 19:28Speaker 1: get there before the ice melts. I mean send someone else, lady.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, seriously, seriously.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I rolled very hard at Phoebe's comment when she decides
- 19:39Speaker 1: to come to the Ice Hotel with Hannah and she goes,
- 19:42Speaker 1: what am I thinking, I'm a fitness instructor. I can't
- 19:45Speaker 1: go to the all you can eat buffet on the
- 19:47Speaker 1: cruise ship GTFO Live a little.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I'm a fitness instructor. I certainly need to deprive myself
- 19:57Speaker 2: of yummy things because I haven't image got shut up.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You know she's holding the candy and she's like, what
- 20:03Speaker 1: am I doing?
- 20:03Speaker 2: I can't have this bar? Yeah, A man wrote this. Absolutely,
- 20:07Speaker 2: I wrote this right. I'm gonna have to look I'm
- 20:10Speaker 2: gonna have to look it up. Okay, I have a
- 20:12Speaker 2: page and a half of notes about the Nordic dessert.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Do you want me to go for it? Because I
- 20:18Speaker 1: have no thoughts on the Nordic dessert. Wendy, give the
- 20:20Speaker 1: backstory on why you notice the Nordic dessert please.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Okay, my husband family is Danish and we have a
- 20:28Speaker 2: lot of Danish desserts which are under an umbrella of
- 20:34Speaker 2: Scandinavian desserts, which then would fall with Norway under a
- 20:39Speaker 2: Nordic dessert. Anyway, Okay, go ahead.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Are they supposed to be in Norway? Did they ever
- 20:45Speaker 1: say that? I kept they mentioned Nordic desserts.
- 20:48Speaker 2: They definitely say Nordic, but I don't know if they're
- 20:51Speaker 2: supposed to be in Norway. Or not. Okay, I don't
- 20:54Speaker 2: know anyway, So there's this other guy there, right, I
- 20:58Speaker 2: don't know what his name is, but he's a hotel reviewer,
- 21:01Speaker 2: I'm guessing, and yeah, right, okay, and Ben has promised
- 21:06Speaker 2: him a traditional Nordic dessert, and so they arrange for
- 21:13Speaker 2: acronza cake, which is a if I okay, let me
- 21:18Speaker 2: explain it. Acronza cake translates to a wreath cake, a
- 21:23Speaker 2: tall tower of delicate cookie rings. They take this cake
- 21:27Speaker 2: out of the back of the van and set it
- 21:29Speaker 2: on the table. It's straight up a stack of pancakes. Pancakes, yes,
- 21:35Speaker 2: and then she knocks it down and and I was like,
- 21:38Speaker 2: it's definitely pancakes because they're they're pancakes. They're shaped like
- 21:42Speaker 2: they're not a round delicate cookie ring. And I know
- 21:47Speaker 2: this cake. It was at my wedding. So we've had
- 21:50Speaker 2: this cake many many times, Christmas, Easter. It's like, I
- 21:55Speaker 2: know what this cake is. Okay. So then Hannah says,
- 22:00Speaker 2: you know, I can make able skimers, which is it's
- 22:04Speaker 2: a hard word to say, and I'm may be singing
- 22:06Speaker 2: it wrong, but essentially, these are round pancakes, like like
- 22:11Speaker 2: a ball, right. It requires a special pan, Like you
- 22:16Speaker 2: just don't make these, like you have to have this a.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Cake pop pan.
- 22:19Speaker 2: She uses egg cake. First of all, they're not baked.
- 22:23Speaker 2: They're they're like I'm gonna call them fried, but they're like,
- 22:25Speaker 2: you know, they're made in a special round pan. And
- 22:28Speaker 2: you guys, you know what, I'm gonna put a picture
- 22:29Speaker 2: on our show notes because I have one here at
- 22:32Speaker 2: my house. Of course I do.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy dot com slash podcast.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yes, anyway, you can't make these in a cake pan
- 22:38Speaker 2: or a cake poppan Like that was so stupid. Like
- 22:40Speaker 2: I actually rewound it and showed my husband and he
- 22:43Speaker 2: laughed at it. My final note able screwers say, I
- 22:48Speaker 2: call them able screwers, able skimers. I don't there's I'm
- 22:51Speaker 2: not Danish, but when they present it to him, they
- 22:56Speaker 2: roll it out in this like tall town, which looks
- 23:01Speaker 2: like the classic French dessert known as a croken busch exactly,
- 23:06Speaker 2: And I was like, that's not how you eat able skewers,
- 23:10Speaker 2: you know what I mean? They come in like when
- 23:12Speaker 2: wherever we make them or buy them from somewhere, they
- 23:14Speaker 2: come in like a little three and you put powdered
- 23:17Speaker 2: sugar on them, and you eat them with like raspberry
- 23:19Speaker 2: jelly or whatever. That's how they're presented. You do not
- 23:22Speaker 2: put them in this Christmas tree, croke and bush tower.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I was so pissed.
- 23:28Speaker 2: And that's what I gotta say about Nordic desserts. I
- 23:31Speaker 2: appreciate the deep dive.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I obviously did not have the same attachment, but I
- 23:36Speaker 1: did bump on the croken Busch stylely because I have
- 23:39Speaker 1: watched many a food competition in which a crocabouche has
- 23:43Speaker 1: been made. They are quite complicated, and I found it
- 23:47Speaker 1: hard to believe that this was intended to look the
- 23:50Speaker 1: same way. And if I am saying that incorrectly.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I apologize, right, I apologize too. Please don't send your
- 23:55Speaker 2: emails saying that I'm saying things wrong. But when she
- 23:58Speaker 2: rolls up and then hits the cake with her skis
- 24:02Speaker 2: or whatever it was, those were straight up pancakes cakes.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 24:08Speaker 1: All right, so this is a scene that you wouldn't
- 24:10Speaker 1: have noticed. But Ben says to worker woman at one point,
- 24:14Speaker 1: I wish Hannah would believe in herself. She had an
- 24:16Speaker 1: unfortunate incident in her previous hotel job and she doesn't
- 24:22Speaker 1: have the confidence to get another job doing that. Well.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Workerwoman is a big fan of Ben. She wants to
- 24:28Speaker 1: be with Ben. She says, I'd follow you anywhere because
- 24:31Speaker 1: he's hoping this new hotel. She tries to invite him
- 24:33Speaker 1: to dinner. He doesn't go because he has plans with Hannah.
- 24:36Speaker 1: She's very unsubtly throwing herself at him. I do not
- 24:40Speaker 1: ever like these like scorned woman storylines that we get
- 24:44Speaker 1: often in these Hallmark movies. It's always their coworker. It's
- 24:47Speaker 1: not necessary. She then finds out that Ben's going to
- 24:50Speaker 1: offer her a job, or has offered her a job,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and she's going to take it. And then worker Woman
- 24:56Speaker 1: goes in and she's gonna cut the knees right out
- 24:59Speaker 1: from under. And the first thing she does you did
- 25:02Speaker 1: not see this is she googles New York Hotel incident.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Okay, did she was it?
- 25:13Speaker 1: The top was the number one hit yea, and directly
- 25:19Speaker 1: next to it is a cringing photo of Hannah.
- 25:25Speaker 2: So stupid.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Okay, Now, if you were to google New York Hotel incident,
- 25:29Speaker 1: now it's all about the number one hit is about
- 25:34Speaker 1: some I did not click on any of them. I
- 25:36Speaker 1: was just curious. It's like there were some racial insensitivity issues.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Let me tell you, a flood in a hotel, unless
- 25:46Speaker 1: it wipes out the entire hotel is not going to
- 25:48Speaker 1: rank on New York Hotel Incidents run since the Manhattan
- 25:55Speaker 1: Island correct unless it's at the and Elouie's herself is
- 26:01Speaker 1: slowed it out. Okay, So then she goes into Hannah's
- 26:07Speaker 1: room and she's like, it requires it intense amount of
- 26:12Speaker 1: focus to run an ice hotel. And then of course
- 26:14Speaker 1: Hannah tells Ben that she can't take the job. She says,
- 26:17Speaker 1: I'm just more of a tropical kind of lady. She leaves,
- 26:21Speaker 1: She goes home, she gets offered the promotion. There's this
- 26:25Speaker 1: other bit with like the hotel reviewer brings her the
- 26:28Speaker 1: blown Glass Ice Hotel, and she's like, I gotta go
- 26:30Speaker 1: back to Ben. She goes back to Ben. Worker woman
- 26:34Speaker 1: at that moment is having a conversation and she's like,
- 26:36Speaker 1: I think I should stay here in this hotel. I'll
- 26:39Speaker 1: go if you need me to, but I think you
- 26:41Speaker 1: should go get Hannah and take her with you, like
- 26:43Speaker 1: she's atoning for her issues a fine. Ben and Hannah
- 26:49Speaker 1: get together, don't really care she is now going to
- 26:52Speaker 1: work in this ice hotel with him. Why they have
- 26:54Speaker 1: to now work together so they can be together. I
- 26:57Speaker 1: don't fully understand.
- 26:59Speaker 2: That hotel is only open three months a year. Right, well,
- 27:03Speaker 2: I guess that's not technically like said on the movie.
- 27:06Speaker 1: So yeah, they have to rebuild it. I mean, I
- 27:08Speaker 1: can't imagine it's cold enough in the summer months, even
- 27:11Speaker 1: in these northern low coales to keep it frozen.
- 27:14Speaker 2: In the north Pole wherever this hotel is at.
- 27:17Speaker 1: But I would imagine that since it has to be
- 27:19Speaker 1: rebuilt and redesigned every year, that there's a fair amount
- 27:22Speaker 1: of work beyond when it's open. I will grant them
- 27:25Speaker 1: that that it could in theory be a full time job,
- 27:27Speaker 1: especially if they're gonna have two locations. But look, I.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Don't like that he is her job savior, right right right?
- 27:35Speaker 2: I don't like it, and now he's her boss and
- 27:37Speaker 2: her boyfriend. Mmm, did you see the ice carving incident? No,
- 27:44Speaker 2: So they he's gonna carve some ice.
- 27:46Speaker 1: So they can have it on display because it's a
- 27:48Speaker 1: nice hotel. So they're gonna have like a carved ice display.
- 27:50Speaker 1: And she's like, why don't you make a seashell. Ugh.
- 27:53Speaker 1: So he's showing her. He's like, well, you just want
- 27:55Speaker 1: to sketch on the ice the outline of what you're
- 27:57Speaker 1: gonna draw. She sketches the jankiest seashell I've ever seen
- 28:01Speaker 1: in my life. There's no way that anybody carving a
- 28:05Speaker 1: seashell could follow that sketch. And then the next scene
- 28:07Speaker 1: they wheel out this like beautifully carved open clamshell. By
- 28:11Speaker 1: the way, if you didn't see the movie, you don't
- 28:14Speaker 1: know that. She says, I think our Ice hotel should
- 28:17Speaker 1: be tropical themed.
- 28:18Speaker 2: God, she's a moron. I'm telling you a dude wrote this.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna it's not I just looked at up. It's
- 28:23Speaker 2: really a woman. Oh bad, God, but she hates women.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Okay, people are not coming to your Ice hotel for
- 28:31Speaker 1: tropical scenes.
- 28:33Speaker 2: That would be the not It would be oh, I'm
- 28:36Speaker 2: out of words. You know, like when you go to
- 28:38Speaker 2: the Madonna the Madonna in right, like you're there for
- 28:41Speaker 2: like a themed experience. Or if you know, you take
- 28:45Speaker 2: a trip to the Christmas Hotel wherever that's at, that
- 28:47Speaker 2: is a themed experience. You're not gonna go to an
- 28:50Speaker 2: Ice hotel for a tropical experience. It is not happening.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Hey, Hannah, the beauty of working at an ice hotel
- 28:56Speaker 1: is that summer is not your high season, so you
- 28:59Speaker 1: can take your hot tropical vacations all summer long. Lady,
- 29:05Speaker 1: pull your head out of your ass.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Sorry, I cannot. I hated this movie. Can you tell
- 29:11Speaker 2: anything else? M zero things?
- 29:13Speaker 1: Should I even ask what you rated this movie?
- 29:15Speaker 2: I'm going to get it at zero. I mean I
- 29:17Speaker 2: didn't even watch the whole thing, like, I give it
- 29:20Speaker 2: one and a half. Wow? So bad? It was so bad.
- 29:26Speaker 2: I want to know from our listeners who did watch
- 29:28Speaker 2: this movie aside from Michelle, what did you guys think
- 29:31Speaker 2: of it? Was it terrible like I think it was?
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah? How did this rank? Were you able to put
- 29:38Speaker 1: yourself in like a winter moment and enjoy it? Because
- 29:42Speaker 1: you know, Hallwark does Christmas in July. They re air
- 29:44Speaker 1: a lot of their better Christmas movies and bly and
- 29:48Speaker 1: I can you know, kind of get into that in
- 29:50Speaker 1: the moment. I just could not get into that right now?
- 29:54Speaker 1: I mean, where is the Mother's Day themed movie? Right?
- 29:58Speaker 2: It was? What a missed opportunit? All right? I got
- 30:02Speaker 2: enough said? What's up for next week?
- 30:04Speaker 1: Next week is Sweet Carolina featuring Lacey Shubert and get.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Ready Heine's Tyler Hines. His hair is just so weird
- 30:13Speaker 2: to me. I already saw a preview for it. What
- 30:16Speaker 2: is happening there?
- 30:17Speaker 1: I wasn't noticing his hair.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Somebody please talk to me about his hair. Please? Looks
- 30:22Speaker 2: like Dracula.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Oh no, he has a pretty pronounced widow's peak. I
- 30:27Speaker 1: will agree. As a reminder of your ratings, interviews are
- 30:30Speaker 1: always hugely appreciated. It takes about one minute. You can
- 30:34Speaker 1: visit Megan and Wendy dot com slash Apple podcast to
- 30:37Speaker 1: leave a review. It is hugely appreciated and hugely helpful
- 30:41Speaker 1: to us as podcasters. We appreciate you being here. Thanks
- 30:45Speaker 1: for listening, and have a great weekend. Everybody. We'll see
- 30:47Speaker 1: you next week.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Goodbye, bye, guys,
