- 0:03Speaker 1: We welcome into Off the Bench, presented by All Star Toyota.
- 0:07Speaker 2: You're scary.
- 0:08Speaker 3: We're bringing in the school.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You're used sports talking, so.
- 0:14Speaker 4: You're Jacob Hester and Matt.
- 0:15Speaker 5: Flynn terrifying, terrible live from the Haunted Raising Gaines Studio.
- 0:23Speaker 5: Here's Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Yo, yo yo, that was too professional.
- 0:51Speaker 3: What is happening?
- 0:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I looked at Flynn. He shrugged his shoulders, like.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Miss his cue. I'm like, you missed your cue.
- 0:57Speaker 3: We can do it.
- 0:58Speaker 2: But no, the injured robot voice.
- 1:00Speaker 3: No, oh no, yesterday, I don't like it. You know what,
- 1:04Speaker 3: he did have it yesterday. It was one day where
- 1:06Speaker 3: it didn't. It was just this because I remember playing
- 1:08Speaker 3: the piano voice is elite all right day, and I
- 1:13Speaker 3: like the robot voice better than I like.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not even close.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, hello, yeah, hey, sorry, really thrown off right there?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Okay they yo threw me off because it was a questionable.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Yeah it was. I was ron burgandy. I didn't know
- 1:28Speaker 3: what he was drugging.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I needed to get my displeasure out quick about the
- 1:32Speaker 4: no robot voice.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, all.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Right, that's all good. Hello, what's going on flyinglandt here
- 1:41Speaker 3: with you on a Wednesday morning. Yeah, we're victorious last
- 1:47Speaker 3: night in the flat football game. You can stop asking
- 1:49Speaker 3: we were. We won thirty nine twenty four. If you're
- 1:54Speaker 3: keeping scored at home, I don't something like that.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It's not even like.
- 2:01Speaker 4: The real victory wasn't in the scoreboard either. The real
- 2:03Speaker 4: victory was in we could walk up the steps this morning. True,
- 2:08Speaker 4: it wasn't fast, it was not a fast pace.
- 2:12Speaker 3: But yeah, we won. Deal meet Tutter's how was the
- 2:17Speaker 3: Flinda Hester connection?
- 2:19Speaker 2: We had won the back of the in zone, We
- 2:21Speaker 2: won the back of the end zone.
- 2:22Speaker 4: We had a couple more I wouldn't say check downs
- 2:26Speaker 4: over the middle of them.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Change.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I'll tell you all the time. I'll tell you about
- 2:29Speaker 3: the end.
- 2:29Speaker 4: When I watched this film with these people playing football,
- 2:31Speaker 4: a little tackle football, fastest way to the end zones
- 2:34Speaker 4: over the middle, people stop throwing it to the sideline.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Just pick them apart over the middle. They can't take
- 2:40Speaker 4: they can't handle it. Oh yeah, so we had this
- 2:44Speaker 4: flag football game last night's coaches, so we had a
- 2:46Speaker 4: little elite flag football yesterday.
- 2:49Speaker 3: There was a it was like the bye week Pro Bowl,
- 2:53Speaker 3: for all the kids.
- 2:54Speaker 4: So the kids had all these fun competitions, tug war,
- 2:57Speaker 4: relay races, dodgeball pass competitions, and then at the end
- 3:03Speaker 4: it was topped off a little coaches game, a lot
- 3:06Speaker 4: of people dusting off the old cleats. I didn't have cleats,
- 3:09Speaker 4: but there were some dirty cleats out there, for sure, Jake,
- 3:12Speaker 4: you had the dirtiest of the cleats.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I did. So I went over to my boys in
- 3:16Speaker 3: the equipment room. I was like, hey, I got this event.
- 3:19Speaker 3: I don't own any cleans because I'm a forty year old,
- 3:22Speaker 3: washed up man. Okay, I don't have cleats anymore, I said,
- 3:26Speaker 3: but I don't need new clean Yeah. I said, if
- 3:28Speaker 3: you give me new cleats, I'm gonna have blisters, which
- 3:29Speaker 3: is going to be worse than anything I pulled tomorrow.
- 3:32Speaker 3: So do you have any old cleats? And you're right,
- 3:34Speaker 3: they might have found the dirtiest pair that were in there,
- 3:37Speaker 3: but they found some and they were twelves.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Uh. Yes, we got there.
- 3:42Speaker 4: We play a little flag football and so we there's
- 3:44Speaker 4: a great like cast of characters as coaches and some
- 3:48Speaker 4: people that you see around town you see a different job.
- 3:52Speaker 3: You know, these people you'd never seen them.
- 3:54Speaker 4: In an athletic situation, right, and so we're we're we
- 3:59Speaker 4: got it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: We're putting our jersey.
- 4:00Speaker 3: He's on.
- 4:00Speaker 4: We're looking at that team, looking at our team. I'm like,
- 4:02Speaker 4: all right, I got no idea what we got. You know,
- 4:03Speaker 4: you only got like thirty five seconds after the last
- 4:06Speaker 4: like kids competition to get warmed up. I got like
- 4:09Speaker 4: three passes before. I think we jogged about four yards
- 4:13Speaker 4: to warm up. That was about it. So you don't
- 4:15Speaker 4: really know what you got. But then all of a sudden,
- 4:20Speaker 4: lights come on. You say down, said hut, and these guys,
- 4:25Speaker 4: unbeknownst to anybody, looked like Team USA, y oh, thank you.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Both sides of the ball, just fast making play. Hester
- 4:37Speaker 4: his stubby little bow legs can still move. But not
- 4:41Speaker 4: just him, not even not just the former pro athlete.
- 4:45Speaker 3: It's like we're just talking about pro dad's pro businessman.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Our team out there, Dustin pe Cook, My god, their ball.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I was like kind of fast, like what's going on here?
- 4:58Speaker 3: Cecil Collins still has it? And Ca she were wondering
- 5:02Speaker 3: if you got it? Yep, sure still got it. That's fun.
- 5:07Speaker 4: It was at the end of the day, he was like, hey,
- 5:09Speaker 4: why aren't you throwing it to my son? And I'm like,
- 5:11Speaker 4: well you're too, Like you're good.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like it's called matchups, Bud.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It's a compliment.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I was. The thing that was most surprising is how
- 5:22Speaker 3: well everyone called the ball from you.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It was.
- 5:27Speaker 3: It was amazing because you could still spin it. I'll
- 5:29Speaker 3: give you, like your first passion. I'm like, okay, all right,
- 5:32Speaker 3: that old bastard still got it all right. And the
- 5:35Speaker 3: fact that they were catching it, that was the most
- 5:36Speaker 3: impressive thing. And no broken fingers, no broken fingers. Maybe
- 5:39Speaker 3: a few a couple of Bruce chests, the chests that
- 5:42Speaker 3: are Bruce today, but yeah they were. They were like
- 5:45Speaker 3: running seam routes and dig routes over the middle.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Post routes and uh yeah, son of a gun, zero
- 5:52Speaker 4: drops for the team.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Zero.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That's true. That was that was That's very true.
- 5:56Speaker 2: All right.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Are we paying for it this morning? Maybe so? But
- 6:01Speaker 3: you know what, that's just the price of victory.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Did I leave the game yesterday with a certainly a
- 6:07Speaker 4: competitive high that I haven't felt in a while.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I hadn't sprinted and for a bet of years, I
- 6:15Speaker 3: bet you didn't think you were going to yesterday you bet.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I didn't. I did not. I did not think I
- 6:19Speaker 2: was gonna sprint.
- 6:20Speaker 4: But when we started talking to like, you start competing
- 6:23Speaker 4: a little bit, and you know, you get a little
- 6:25Speaker 4: pitch back from you know, I hit a spin move yesterday,
- 6:28Speaker 4: you did.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I tried to beat somebody to the edge. I don't know.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we had someone on our team who had, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 3: certainly played like ancient athletes and have been in the
- 6:36Speaker 3: game before. It's like, hey, you know, like laterals are
- 6:39Speaker 3: kind of the name of the game. And I'm like, oh,
- 6:40Speaker 3: you can do that. Later you can do that, and uh,
- 6:44Speaker 3: I'm glad you did. Like first pass I call it.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I'm like, sure, let me latterl it back to somebody.
- 6:49Speaker 3: But then Flynn got one, and I could tell that
- 6:52Speaker 3: you weren't quite ready to go full speed. But you
- 6:55Speaker 3: went full speed.
- 6:58Speaker 2: That's usually when things go pop. But they didn't.
- 7:01Speaker 3: They didn't.
- 7:01Speaker 4: But yeah, but I was driving home and I I
- 7:03Speaker 4: gotta say I had thoughts of grandeur at that point.
- 7:06Speaker 4: It was like, hmm, who what do I need to
- 7:09Speaker 4: call him? A former agent? And uh, given called the
- 7:12Speaker 4: team USA, oh not even the NFL like flag football. Yeah, fight,
- 7:17Speaker 4: I actually got the Olympic.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Why not.
- 7:20Speaker 3: We've always talked about the one sport that we played
- 7:23Speaker 3: is the only sport you can't really represent your country
- 7:27Speaker 3: because if you do, it's not really fair because Team
- 7:30Speaker 3: USA going all the way, all the way. So flag
- 7:34Speaker 3: football Olympics. I think you still got it. I know
- 7:38Speaker 3: that Mahomes and Lamar Jackson were interested in maybe taking
- 7:43Speaker 3: part in the Olympics, but that's not what we need. Lamar.
- 7:47Speaker 3: We need we need fled.
- 7:51Speaker 4: If the if the like pitchbacks in the name of
- 7:54Speaker 4: the game, Lamar is probably the best choice.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Uh not my Homes though.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Brian Bird just wants to know, can we put a
- 8:01Speaker 3: mask on Flint aka Chad Powers and have him walk
- 8:03Speaker 3: on at LSU.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:09Speaker 3: Sure, you haven't seen in a new TV show.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Well, like, there's a lot of kids out there, you know,
- 8:13Speaker 4: playing six, seven, eight years like that kid. Look at
- 8:16Speaker 4: that kid in Kentucky. I was I was here on
- 8:20Speaker 4: Earth and during COVID. Yeah that's true. I bet you
- 8:24Speaker 4: did red shirt though, so that's.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Only five years.
- 8:29Speaker 3: It's fair.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I at least get two more.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I wonder if I could go to the n C
- 8:33Speaker 3: Double A And since I didn't red shirt, like God
- 8:36Speaker 3: didn't give me. I still have a year to play with.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you want.
- 8:42Speaker 3: To fix the running game at LSU, but a forty
- 8:45Speaker 3: one year old at that time walk on full back,
- 8:48Speaker 3: play full back.
- 8:50Speaker 4: We got the answer. People, that's fun, just saying that's fun. AnyWho,
- 8:57Speaker 4: I think the only thing hurting today is my right foot, right,
- 9:00Speaker 4: it hurts a little bit. Well, hey, but you know what,
- 9:03Speaker 4: we'll be all right by November. The thing that doesn't hurt,
- 9:06Speaker 4: that's the most important, your ego.
- 9:09Speaker 2: It's true.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Sure that Victorious made some plays, felt a little bit
- 9:14Speaker 3: of a competitive high, and then we could walk up
- 9:18Speaker 3: the stairs and talk about it today.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I don't say though both teams. Both teams are winners.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I was impressed by, honestly, honestly it was legit. Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 4: the fact that we are here today and I'm not
- 9:31Speaker 4: quite a sore that we got up the stairs.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Good job.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Credit to ourselves and anybody that plays ancient athletes and
- 9:38Speaker 3: you do that every single week. I tipped my cap,
- 9:41Speaker 3: and I also ask you the question, how how do
- 9:45Speaker 3: you do that?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Maybe they run like more than once.
- 9:48Speaker 3: A year, And Pee Cook said it perfectly, He said,
- 9:51Speaker 3: you know what you know? You quickly learned in a
- 9:54Speaker 3: setting like this, Jogging and running are.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Different, Yeah, no doubt I do. I hit the treadmill
- 10:00Speaker 4: up about three four times a week. I even like
- 10:03Speaker 4: do what I call sprints on the treadmill. It's like,
- 10:07Speaker 4: I don't know, they're like intervals at like twelve or
- 10:09Speaker 4: something like that, which isn't like crazy.
- 10:13Speaker 2: It's different.
- 10:13Speaker 4: It's different when you're not on a treadmill and you're
- 10:16Speaker 4: on grass and you have to project your body forward
- 10:18Speaker 4: with your own legs going full speed with a grown
- 10:21Speaker 4: man chasing you.
- 10:22Speaker 3: No matter how stubby or bow legged, they are still
- 10:24Speaker 3: the same. Oh, it's fun though it was last heyte Laudra.
- 10:28Speaker 3: If y'all want to take part next year, we can.
- 10:31Speaker 3: You know, I can pull some strings over any elite.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Get you all in the game.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I don't want Matt to ride the bench. No, I'm
- 10:38Speaker 2: totally kidding. Uh yeah, be fun.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Why see here you go? Like this year?
- 10:49Speaker 4: Uh well, I'm gonna need about four months may spring.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Uh I was it was during the game? Was that
- 10:57Speaker 2: halftime yesterday?
- 10:58Speaker 3: And my two little girls both yall my tissues? Yeah
- 11:01Speaker 3: soft tissues? Yeah right there.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Well, two little girls go up to me at halftime,
- 11:09Speaker 4: like I was exhausted, you know, borderline about the puke
- 11:13Speaker 4: and looks so concerned like daddy, what are you doing? Yeah, Mike,
- 11:18Speaker 4: they're just playing this game. I thought you said you
- 11:20Speaker 4: were never gonna play football again. Like this is a
- 11:25Speaker 4: little different.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So shout out. That was a lot of
- 11:28Speaker 3: fun U Elite put out. It was a great event
- 11:32Speaker 3: Proll Bowl. You had every team out there with their
- 11:33Speaker 3: jerseys and you had different events and then it ended
- 11:36Speaker 3: with a geriatric flag football game, which was a lot
- 11:39Speaker 3: of fun. So trainingpr dot com all right, we'll step away,
- 11:43Speaker 3: we'll come back. We'll certainly dive into all the biggest
- 11:46Speaker 3: stories L s U sayings, and we'll do it right

- 13:42Speaker 3: that out, let's get married trap person. I mean every
- 13:47Speaker 3: song's got a trap song. We found out Disney Frozen
- 13:49Speaker 3: has a trap song.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I mean that's the obvious one trap.
- 13:57Speaker 3: According to whom?
- 14:01Speaker 2: Uh too? Is that an anyway? One?
- 14:02Speaker 3: For sure? Okay? Do you do you make them listen
- 14:05Speaker 3: to the trap versions and.
- 14:06Speaker 2: The Actually no, I don't. I should. That's a good thought.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Thank you. Thanks for the reminder.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Did Jagged Edge find its way to Tyler, Texas?
- 14:15Speaker 2: Jack is? Yeah? Okay? Good? Not this remix though?
- 14:18Speaker 3: Really? Okay? Introducing you to uh we stuck to the
- 14:23Speaker 3: classics radio station, didn't have the B side, couldn't flip it?
- 14:29Speaker 2: I got you.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I mean this had to come out fifteen years after
- 14:32Speaker 4: the original this remix?
- 14:34Speaker 3: Nah b this is the dance remix in high school?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Definitely for sure. All right, let's go ahead and get
- 14:41Speaker 3: this show started.

- 15:13Speaker 3: be hot, gonna be humid. Right, go ahead and make
- 15:15Speaker 3: sure you are hydrated and ready to go. And let's say, hey,
- 15:18Speaker 3: maybe just maybe you enjoy an LSU victory you know
- 15:23Speaker 3: all too much, or just throw them out in Monday's
- 15:26Speaker 3: right around the corner and you're like, I need to
- 15:28Speaker 3: feel a little bit better. Yeah, well you can go
- 15:29Speaker 3: see them for that situation as well. Go flowiv dot com. Yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 3: be a little proactive. Maybe go other Friday. Little hydrate
- 15:36Speaker 3: before you dehydrate a little bit.
- 15:38Speaker 2: If you go in there.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Today, don't be surprised if you see two former old
- 15:42Speaker 4: people athletes getting uh getting rehydrated after a old people
- 15:47Speaker 4: flag football game last night. Go check them out right there, Jefferson,
- 15:50Speaker 4: I wait nearboot Cosh go flow iv spot say right there,
- 15:53Speaker 4: right now, right there, go sim.
- 15:57Speaker 3: All right, LSUS South Carolina coming up this weekend and
- 16:00Speaker 3: side of Tiger Stadium alis you a nine and a
- 16:03Speaker 3: half point favorite in this game. ESPM Matchup Predictor gives
- 16:08Speaker 3: him a seventy three percent chance to win. South Carolina
- 16:14Speaker 3: is a team that's been up and down. There's been
- 16:17Speaker 3: some good, there's been some bad, there's been some ugly okay,
- 16:20Speaker 3: But we know that they're coming off of a bye
- 16:23Speaker 3: week as well. We know that, you know, Leonora Seller's
- 16:26Speaker 3: not as polished as maybe a lot of people thought
- 16:30Speaker 3: in the preseason, but still can go out there. It
- 16:33Speaker 3: can make plays, can make chaotic plays right when there's
- 16:37Speaker 3: chaos around him. But more than any of that, I
- 16:44Speaker 3: think we're all looking forward to seeing what else you
- 16:47Speaker 3: do there in the bye week. What did they get
- 16:50Speaker 3: done during the bye week? What's the health of some
- 16:54Speaker 3: of their best players after the bye week. But like
- 16:57Speaker 3: the health part obviously very important to the field, But
- 17:01Speaker 3: once you get on said field, what is it going
- 17:04Speaker 3: to look like? I think there is pressure, which there
- 17:08Speaker 3: should be on the LSU run game. There has to
- 17:12Speaker 3: be things that you know, hey, we hadn't seen that,
- 17:15Speaker 3: or we haven't seen enough of that, or whatever the
- 17:18Speaker 3: case might be. And you're not a team I think
- 17:23Speaker 3: we all know this. It's going to be able to
- 17:24Speaker 3: line up and do the things that you've done to
- 17:26Speaker 3: this point and be effective now. Also like calling the
- 17:29Speaker 3: runs and when you call the runs, and how many
- 17:31Speaker 3: runs you call it. That's a part of it as well.
- 17:34Speaker 3: You had some success late in the game with Harlan
- 17:36Speaker 3: Berry running it against Ole Miss. But for me, more
- 17:39Speaker 3: than anything that's going to be taking place this weekend,
- 17:42Speaker 3: more than who's on the field, more than anything on
- 17:46Speaker 3: the defense, I want to see what you did to
- 17:50Speaker 3: improve the run game with the extra time.
- 17:55Speaker 2: If you are a.
- 18:00Speaker 4: High school football player, maybe a former high school coach,
- 18:03Speaker 4: a current coach, if you were just a lover of
- 18:05Speaker 4: old school zone running plays, can I tell you this
- 18:10Speaker 4: is the game for you?
- 18:14Speaker 2: Because I thought LSU ran the.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Demos standard inside zone a lot until I watched the
- 18:22Speaker 4: last three games of South Carolina, and my god, there
- 18:27Speaker 4: might be there might be a combination of sixty running
- 18:30Speaker 4: plays this week an LSU versus South Carolina, and I
- 18:34Speaker 4: think fifty eight of them might be inside zone because
- 18:38Speaker 4: they ran at every single run play now and it
- 18:40Speaker 4: wasn't even just zone read with the North Sellers. Now
- 18:42Speaker 4: they run zone read a little bit here and there,
- 18:46Speaker 4: but my god, it's a lot of inside zone inside zone.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I don't know if I saw them. They pulled a
- 18:51Speaker 4: center in a guard one time on one of the plays,
- 18:56Speaker 4: but most everything they do is looks a lot like LSU,
- 19:01Speaker 4: which is inside. So now they have less RPO on
- 19:04Speaker 4: top of it. I don't know if I saw any
- 19:05Speaker 4: RPO really. They hit a couple behind the line of
- 19:09Speaker 4: scrim at screens, but I don't even think it was
- 19:10Speaker 4: an RPO. I think it was just a called screen.
- 19:13Speaker 4: But man, this is this is the game for you.
- 19:14Speaker 4: But just like you said, like, what what have they done?
- 19:17Speaker 4: What did they spend that extra time doing? Now there's
- 19:21Speaker 4: is when you have that extra week, you you self evaluate.
- 19:26Speaker 4: So you go and you self value, Okay, what have
- 19:28Speaker 4: we done good? What have we done bad? What is
- 19:30Speaker 4: realistic for us to change at this point because we
- 19:32Speaker 4: can't make like a full full scale change of everything.
- 19:36Speaker 4: We can't tear anything down to the studs and you
- 19:38Speaker 4: don't need to. But what can we realistically tweak? What
- 19:43Speaker 4: can we realistically coach a little different? How as a player,
- 19:46Speaker 4: can I realistically change my footwork or change my hand placement,
- 19:52Speaker 4: change my reads.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Whatever it is? What can you realistically get done?
- 19:55Speaker 4: Because in reality it's just it's a week seems like
- 19:59Speaker 4: a long time, but after you get it, like an
- 20:01Speaker 4: extra day off, you get a treatment day. I mean
- 20:04Speaker 4: it's you're looking at four or five days of extra work, right,
- 20:08Speaker 4: so yeah, what can you get done? That's gonna be
- 20:11Speaker 4: the key point philosophically. Is anything going to change or
- 20:16Speaker 4: be adjusted in the Running Game, which I'm super intrigued
- 20:19Speaker 4: on of course watching it live, but more so than that,
- 20:23Speaker 4: just going back and watching the film afterwards, they kind
- 20:25Speaker 4: of give an actual breakdown of kind of what we
- 20:27Speaker 4: did philosophically. But man, this is a South Carolina team
- 20:32Speaker 4: that they're three and two. So let's see. They started
- 20:37Speaker 4: out the year, they opened up with Virginia Tech. They
- 20:38Speaker 4: get a winy clunky yeah, clunky yeah. Then they stay
- 20:45Speaker 4: at home, they play South Carolina State, they get a
- 20:48Speaker 4: win thirty eight ten. Then they play Vanderbilt. They lose
- 20:51Speaker 4: to Vanderbilt thirty one seven in a game which Leonor
- 20:53Speaker 4: Seller's in the second quarter gets knocked out with a concussion,
- 20:56Speaker 4: gets a little concused, little brain bruise. So they lose
- 21:00Speaker 4: that game thirty one to seven. Vanderbilt did a lot
- 21:04Speaker 4: of some pretty decent things defensively. I got a couple
- 21:07Speaker 4: of clips from the Vanderbilt defense that I'll show a
- 21:11Speaker 4: little bit later in the show that is. It reminded
- 21:16Speaker 4: me of some things that LSU has done to different quarterbacks,
- 21:19Speaker 4: not Ole Miss. Because Ole Miss went so fast, we
- 21:21Speaker 4: couldn't get into a lot of creative looks. But when
- 21:23Speaker 4: you go back and like, look at the Clemson Tate,
- 21:24Speaker 4: what did we do to Kate club me? So I
- 21:26Speaker 4: look at that, I look at that defensive philosophy that
- 21:29Speaker 4: Blake Baker brought to that game as kind of a
- 21:32Speaker 4: blueprint to what we will see this weekend, just because
- 21:35Speaker 4: of similar play styles from those quarterbacks and similar types
- 21:41Speaker 4: of offenses. Right, So I will show some clips from
- 21:45Speaker 4: Vanderbilt where they confused the protection. They confused Leonora Sellers
- 21:48Speaker 4: a little bit and got home and so of course,
- 21:50Speaker 4: and that was before he got knocked out.
- 21:52Speaker 2: But yeah, so they lose that game thirty one seven.
- 21:55Speaker 4: Then they come back at Missouri their first road test
- 21:58Speaker 4: on September twenty Missouri, they lose twenty nine to twenty
- 22:02Speaker 4: which was actually this was actually Leonora Seller's best game. Yeah,
- 22:05Speaker 4: he was actually real. He played well, made some good
- 22:08Speaker 4: throws through and rhythm. Now there's some there's some bad
- 22:10Speaker 4: plays that he made. I was actually charting the good plays.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Let's say I charted really good plays in the passing
- 22:17Speaker 4: game that he made. I counted twelve really good plays.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Bad plays. I counted seven. So he's got He still
- 22:23Speaker 4: has to clean up a decent amount of things, but
- 22:25Speaker 4: he made some. He made some, actually some some very
- 22:27Speaker 4: nice throws. Kentucky. They win this game thirty five to thirteen.
- 22:32Speaker 4: This was their last game before their bye week, thirty
- 22:35Speaker 4: five thirteen. I wasn't impressed with this game. Kentucky had
- 22:44Speaker 4: a backup quarterback play in that game. I mean, I'm
- 22:46Speaker 4: not trying to be funny.
- 22:47Speaker 3: They're starting quarterbacks a backup quarterback, right, so and he's
- 22:51Speaker 3: a back up to the backup.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Yeah, and he's about a year younger than me and
- 22:54Speaker 4: maybe two yeah, maybe maybe two. So well, I got
- 22:58Speaker 4: some clips of that game as well. I didn't think
- 23:00Speaker 4: played that great in this game. His foot well, I'm
- 23:03Speaker 4: talking about Leonora Sellers here. His footwork was off. He
- 23:07Speaker 4: was real, he had happy feet. Nothing was like no,
- 23:11Speaker 4: none of his route his reads and his routes like
- 23:14Speaker 4: timed up with his footwork. So what happens, Like why
- 23:18Speaker 4: does that happen? So like normally in a three step drop,
- 23:21Speaker 4: You're like, all right, I'm let's just take a I'm
- 23:24Speaker 4: three steps and I hit my back foot. I got
- 23:26Speaker 4: my first read. I'm gonna throw that in rhythm. If
- 23:27Speaker 4: he's not open, I'll take a hitch and I'm out
- 23:29Speaker 4: to my first read. And if I have to go
- 23:31Speaker 4: to a second or third hitch, I'm bet my second read,
- 23:33Speaker 4: third read. He was just like pitter patter, pitter patter,
- 23:37Speaker 4: pitter patter, like nothing timed up with his footwork. And
- 23:40Speaker 4: so that's what that's when I look at a quarterback,
- 23:42Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, you're not You're not either comfortable
- 23:44Speaker 4: with a game plan, you're not comfortable with the looks
- 23:45Speaker 4: you're seeing, or you're hoping to see an open guy
- 23:51Speaker 4: and really looking for a lane to run. Yeah, that's
- 23:53Speaker 4: really what else. So I was not really impressed with
- 23:56Speaker 4: his game playing. Now he made the plays like he is.
- 23:58Speaker 4: He is big boy strong, Like if you get your
- 24:00Speaker 4: mits on him, you better get him down because he's
- 24:03Speaker 4: gonna fight.
- 24:04Speaker 2: And he makes plays like that.
- 24:05Speaker 4: He makes he can turn a bad quarterback play into
- 24:10Speaker 4: a positive offensive play because he's just so darn strong.
- 24:14Speaker 4: So when you get your mits on him, you better
- 24:16Speaker 4: get him down, and you can you can get him down,
- 24:18Speaker 4: but he'll make some plays and he'll do it Saturday.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Like you're just gonna have He's gonna have plays.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Yeah, you're just gonna shake your head and be like, yeah,
- 24:24Speaker 4: well he got us on that one. But South Carolina
- 24:29Speaker 4: as a whole, I get while we were nine and
- 24:30Speaker 4: a half points. When I first saw that line, after
- 24:33Speaker 4: l s U Versus Old miss game and all that,
- 24:35Speaker 4: we didn't think Ole Missus defense was very good the
- 24:37Speaker 4: run game, run defense wasn't very good, but they stopped U.
- 24:40Speaker 4: I saw that nine and a half points, and I
- 24:41Speaker 4: was like, that's kind of big, right, yeah. Uh, But
- 24:47Speaker 4: now after watching the film, I get it.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I see it.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I don't think from top to bottom, I don't think
- 24:53Speaker 4: they have the playmakers. I don't think they have the
- 24:56Speaker 4: route runners to benefit a quarterback Lenora's cell they don't
- 25:00Speaker 4: have on the back end. They play aggressively. On the
- 25:04Speaker 4: defensive side of the ball, they like to play aggressive.
- 25:06Speaker 4: I don't think they got the talent everywhere. Now they
- 25:09Speaker 4: got some good players their defensive line, yeah, they can
- 25:11Speaker 4: go get it. They play with high energy offensively. Offensively,
- 25:15Speaker 4: I just don't think they got enough pieces. And after
- 25:17Speaker 4: I saw that that game, against Vanderbilt. How they got
- 25:20Speaker 4: confused by a lot of non standard looks that I
- 25:25Speaker 4: know that Blake Baker's got in his back pocket. I
- 25:27Speaker 4: feel I feel pretty decent about this one.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a great point there at the very end
- 25:31Speaker 3: about the weapons. They don't have those right now. And
- 25:34Speaker 3: Lenora Sellers can make a lot of ooh and ah plays,
- 25:37Speaker 3: But with the lack of help that he gets from
- 25:40Speaker 3: some of the weapons around him, the inconsistency start to
- 25:44Speaker 3: show up because he probably feels like he needs to
- 25:46Speaker 3: press Yeah, you know, he probably feels like he's having
- 25:48Speaker 3: to do everything because at times it does look like
- 25:51Speaker 3: that we just.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Got you got some like receivers running routes for South Carolina,
- 25:55Speaker 4: and I'm like, I don't know what that route really
- 25:59Speaker 4: is supposed to be hard, and like they get to
- 26:01Speaker 4: the top of the route and they just kind of
- 26:02Speaker 4: like turn around. They don't get their head around their
- 26:04Speaker 4: back pedal. They drift into routes, they drift into other
- 26:07Speaker 4: route runners lanes. It just looks a little sloppy, right
- 26:11Speaker 4: and the reads aren't real clean always for Leonori's.
- 26:14Speaker 3: And they're rushing attack right now. They have one hundred
- 26:17Speaker 3: and seventy two rushes on the year, four hundred and
- 26:20Speaker 3: ninety nine yards. Don't get your calculator out, I got you.
- 26:23Speaker 3: That's two point nine yards per carry. As a team,
- 26:27Speaker 3: they're leading rushers are both ones right at four yards
- 26:32Speaker 3: of Carrie their second leading rusher at three point seven.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Now Lenoris Stellar is a sack yardage. You know, he's
- 26:38Speaker 3: two point zero. But even like go down to the
- 26:41Speaker 3: third running back, he's two point seven per carry. So
- 26:44Speaker 3: they have had no juice at the running back position.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Nobody that has been a game changer for them. This
- 26:50Speaker 3: should be a really, really nice matchup for the LSU defense.
- 26:54Speaker 3: So what happens when you run inside? I know I'd
- 26:57Speaker 3: like to get their percentages on that.
- 26:59Speaker 4: And maybe they ran some stip earlier in the year,
- 27:00Speaker 4: but from the games I saw, it was all inside zone,
- 27:03Speaker 4: inside zone, and then they do like an inside with
- 27:05Speaker 4: the split zone with the tight end goes and cuts
- 27:07Speaker 4: off backside.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Hey, you know what, let's tease that. Oh you want
- 27:10Speaker 3: who runs more zone? We'll look at who runs more
- 27:14Speaker 3: zone between these two teams, and we'll do it right
- 27:16Speaker 3: here on OTB off the bench.

- 30:23Speaker 3: Old, Uh is a game changer. Let's see this. It's
- 30:31Speaker 3: not even really that loud.
- 30:33Speaker 2: No, it's not even a loud at all. Nope, not
- 30:34Speaker 2: the ones at kata Ze. Yep.
- 30:36Speaker 3: If you want to watch Sunday with that Glaire on
- 30:38Speaker 3: your TV, gotta turn it into a little cave. Get
- 30:42Speaker 3: one of those outdoor screens.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and they are gritty confirmed.
- 30:47Speaker 3: All right. Uh, let's take a look at it the
- 30:49Speaker 3: tail of the tape. All right. So run plays for
- 30:54Speaker 3: LSU one hundred and forty two for South Carolina one
- 30:58Speaker 3: hundred and thirty nine outside zones for LSU fifty two,
- 31:03Speaker 3: which is thirty seven percent for South Carolina ten outside zones,
- 31:09Speaker 3: seven percent of their run plays inside zone. For LSU,
- 31:13Speaker 3: it's thirty two, which is twenty three percent of their
- 31:16Speaker 3: run plays. For South Carolina it is forty two, which
- 31:20Speaker 3: is thirty percent of their run plays. Some sort of
- 31:24Speaker 3: a man scheme. You've got thirty two runs for LSU
- 31:27Speaker 3: twenty three percent, eighteen for South Carolina, which is thirteen percent.
- 31:31Speaker 4: What is a man's scheme run mean? I don't know
- 31:35Speaker 4: if I've ever heard of a man's scheme run.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I'm thinking that they're talking duo, is what I think
- 31:41Speaker 3: that they're classifying that because you got two on two
- 31:46Speaker 3: and they're going to certain that's what I'm going to guess. Yep,
- 31:52Speaker 3: you go to power zero not is this still zero
- 31:58Speaker 3: after the bye week? Dang one for LSU, seventeen for
- 32:04Speaker 3: South Carolina, which is twelve percent of their run plays counters,
- 32:10Speaker 3: ten for LSU just seven percent of the run place,
- 32:14Speaker 3: thirty one for South Carolina, which is twenty two percent
- 32:18Speaker 3: of their run plays Q counters. I'm assuming one of
- 32:22Speaker 3: the North sellers maybe is where they probably would get
- 32:24Speaker 3: that number. Uh, then you got like a lot of
- 32:27Speaker 3: like draws. LSU's run one, South Carolina's run two. Let's
- 32:33Speaker 3: see pull leads else. You hasn't run any of those either.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Ten for South Carolina traps. LSU hasn't run any of
- 32:42Speaker 3: those yet either. South Carolina's got a couple.
- 32:45Speaker 4: So I wonder what they consider zone reads. I wonder
- 32:48Speaker 4: if that's what they call man man principles.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I can get some more clarification on it, I'll text
- 32:55Speaker 3: the PFF guy, see if you can get I'm betting
- 33:00Speaker 3: they throw a duo in there as well. Just my
- 33:03Speaker 3: guess just watching l Shu's tape and knowing that that's
- 33:05Speaker 3: certainly if it's not inside or outside zone, that's what
- 33:08Speaker 3: they've run. The duo is just zone in the A gaps, right, Yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 3: so you're you're you got two double teams.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, So is it like zone is basically inside
- 33:19Speaker 4: zones basically like a.
- 33:20Speaker 3: B B gap maybe bounce the C.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Yeah, outside zone is C D like out depends if
- 33:27Speaker 4: like a stretch and an outside zone is a little
- 33:28Speaker 4: bit different, right, a little bit, not a lot, but
- 33:31Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 33:31Speaker 3: That's a little bit different. For the back duo is
- 33:34Speaker 3: zone in the A gap, right, Yeah, you're reading off
- 33:37Speaker 3: the two double teams. Yeah, yeah, all times it cuts
- 33:43Speaker 3: one of the double.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Was it was do ever like zero a zero hole
- 33:48Speaker 4: like you're aiming point was a center or is it
- 33:50Speaker 4: like off the cheek of a center?
- 33:52Speaker 3: I mean you still you still have like zone principal steps. Yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 3: you know, you're not like it's not a drop step
- 33:58Speaker 3: like a power power is a drop step because you're
- 33:59Speaker 3: going an A gap to expand.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, just your landmark though, like you're aiming
- 34:04Speaker 4: play you're you're I would.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Say you're I would say it's a little bit wider
- 34:07Speaker 3: than you think you're thinking.
- 34:12Speaker 4: I'm just really trying to figure out the difference when
- 34:15Speaker 4: doing his own Oh, I can show you.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Pull it up during one of the breaks. We'll break
- 34:18Speaker 3: it down. But the more troublesome thing I think when
- 34:22Speaker 3: I when I see this is there's some run plays
- 34:25Speaker 3: that you have zero zero zero. My thought in the
- 34:29Speaker 3: run game has always been if you if you don't
- 34:32Speaker 3: do something incredibly well, you continue to do things until
- 34:37Speaker 3: you find something you do well. Because if you continue
- 34:41Speaker 3: to run the same thing and you're not hitting, hey,
- 34:43Speaker 3: well you got to move on from it. Like everybody
- 34:47Speaker 3: jokes about how much we used to run Power and
- 34:51Speaker 3: Toss Dive. Now, Toss Dive wasn't really a thing when
- 34:53Speaker 3: we were here. It's more horn bass it was. It
- 34:55Speaker 3: was a toss play that was not going to be
- 34:57Speaker 3: a full like toss get to the edge. You were
- 35:00Speaker 3: going to read it in a lot of times. Now
- 35:02Speaker 3: we had Power nine Toss.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Yeah, but it wasn't like it wasn't it was the
- 35:08Speaker 4: offense like it would have been years later.
- 35:10Speaker 3: So we did that really well. So that's why we
- 35:17Speaker 3: did it a lot. We ran Zone Extra. Zone Extra
- 35:20Speaker 3: was a run where it was an I formation and
- 35:24Speaker 3: you had a fullback in front of you, and the
- 35:26Speaker 3: fullback his coaching point was read it like you've got
- 35:30Speaker 3: the ball. And we had Quinn Johnson and Sewn Jordan
- 35:33Speaker 3: did a really nice job of running that play both
- 35:35Speaker 3: you know, high school running backs, and they could read it.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Now Sean I thought was that was like really where
- 35:41Speaker 3: he excelled, Like that was his best play, and so
- 35:44Speaker 3: he would read it like he had the ball. If
- 35:46Speaker 3: there was a cutback, he'd cut it back and then
- 35:47Speaker 3: the running back would follow him. That was he's the
- 35:50Speaker 3: extra in the zone extra. So we ran that a
- 35:53Speaker 3: ton why because we were good at it. If there
- 35:56Speaker 3: was something we weren't good at, we didn't do a
- 35:58Speaker 3: whole lot of it, we moved on to the next one.
- 36:01Speaker 4: So but you, but you didn't have to do the
- 36:03Speaker 4: other things because you were You had an identity in
- 36:05Speaker 4: the running game that you were really good at. If
- 36:07Speaker 4: there's no identity, what you're what Jake's trying to say is,
- 36:10Speaker 4: if you got no identity, you might as well try
- 36:12Speaker 4: some other things and try to figure out what you're
- 36:14Speaker 4: good at.
- 36:14Speaker 2: You probably have an idea.
- 36:16Speaker 4: You have to have an idea that you don't think
- 36:18Speaker 4: your strength in the run game is power based on
- 36:20Speaker 4: spring practice, based on training camp.
- 36:22Speaker 3: You're like, we're just not great at running power.
- 36:24Speaker 4: It doesn't fit with what we're trying to do offensively
- 36:27Speaker 4: with the RPO game. Blah blah Blahas like a power
- 36:30Speaker 4: it's hard to run power a little bit more in
- 36:32Speaker 4: the RPO game because it's not this most sound pass protection.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Of course, especially if you're trying to run three step
- 36:37Speaker 4: timings behind it and empower you have to like so
- 36:42Speaker 4: the point of power is why we think that a
- 36:44Speaker 4: play like that should be implemented into the game is
- 36:47Speaker 4: because LSU is getting beat on a lot of a
- 36:50Speaker 4: lot of stunts and games by the defensive lineman. So
- 36:53Speaker 4: when you're tied, you defend zone well, you cross your
- 36:57Speaker 4: defensive tackles and your defensive ends. You try to get
- 37:00Speaker 4: the tackle defensive tackles to engage the guard and loop
- 37:04Speaker 4: a defensive end behind it. You do a lot of stuff.
- 37:07Speaker 4: It's like it's almost like the same philosophies as like.
- 37:09Speaker 2: A pass rush.
- 37:10Speaker 4: You're trying to fill the gas, fill the boys, and
- 37:12Speaker 4: you have your defensive line play. Laterally, they don't get
- 37:15Speaker 4: up the field, they play laterally and play big boy ball,
- 37:18Speaker 4: and they it just makes it hard for the you know,
- 37:20Speaker 4: you don't have a lot of daylight in between each
- 37:22Speaker 4: offensive linemen. So what does a power type play do.
- 37:28Speaker 4: It eliminates the good part of defensive doing that, so
- 37:33Speaker 4: it takes that out. So you get your tackle and
- 37:35Speaker 4: you're tied in and basically they just wash down a side.
- 37:38Speaker 4: They just push everybody down and then you have a
- 37:41Speaker 4: guard that's pulling around. So it doesn't matter if they
- 37:45Speaker 4: do the the ets and the stunts and the crosses
- 37:48Speaker 4: from the defensive linemen defensive ends, because all you're all
- 37:51Speaker 4: instead of trying to like work up the field like
- 37:53Speaker 4: in a zone, like instead of the linemen having to
- 37:56Speaker 4: work up at the second level, all their job is
- 37:58Speaker 4: is to kick some butt and wash people down and
- 38:01Speaker 4: let your pullers come around and go to the sound down.
- 38:04Speaker 2: And so it doesn't matter what kind of games.
- 38:06Speaker 4: So that's why you need to throw those in because
- 38:08Speaker 4: if you throw those into the game and like all
- 38:12Speaker 4: of a sudden, defensive coordinator sees four or five powers,
- 38:14Speaker 4: they're like, okay, well we can't run those defensive end
- 38:18Speaker 4: defensive tackle games right now to defend the zone because
- 38:22Speaker 4: we could get powered and just get washed down.
- 38:24Speaker 2: So you have to be versatile.
- 38:27Speaker 4: You have to throw different looks so you make it
- 38:29Speaker 4: tough on the defensive coordinator.
- 38:34Speaker 3: And it doesn't have to be perfect when you're doing that,
- 38:38Speaker 3: I mean, because it's like you just get like a
- 38:40Speaker 3: shoulder and you just barely knock the defensive guy off
- 38:43Speaker 3: his track and it's like it's all.
- 38:45Speaker 4: And that's the big issue that I that I've seen
- 38:46Speaker 4: on the running game this year is everything is trying
- 38:50Speaker 4: to get to the perfect, exact perfect play, the exact
- 38:52Speaker 4: perfect call from the offensive lineman. Like they're they're communicating,
- 38:56Speaker 4: and you have to communicate as an offensive it's not
- 38:59Speaker 4: just like well is a lot of like brute and
- 39:03Speaker 4: meathead stuff, but there's a lot of communication. There's a
- 39:06Speaker 4: lot of rules to every single play. The same the
- 39:08Speaker 4: same run play might not look the same five different
- 39:10Speaker 4: plays in the road because different defensive looks. They're always
- 39:13Speaker 4: communicating on their assignments. I think they're a bit over communicating.
- 39:18Speaker 4: I think they need to decomplicate it a little bit,
- 39:21Speaker 4: make it a little bit more simple, and let those
- 39:22Speaker 4: guys just go put their head in somebody's chest.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Yeah, real quick, last point. I know we are up
- 39:26Speaker 3: against the clock, and like even like let's go back
- 39:30Speaker 3: to duo real quick. I know it's so it looks
- 39:32Speaker 3: like inside zone. It does, it's got a lot of
- 39:34Speaker 3: the same look to it, but it's actually like it's
- 39:35Speaker 3: a man gap rule. And so like in theory, right,
- 39:41Speaker 3: it's supposed to be a vertical power style run and
- 39:44Speaker 3: you don't have pullers obviously in it, and so like
- 39:47Speaker 3: you know, zones a little bit more side to side,
- 39:48Speaker 3: where duo is supposed to be vertical. That's supposed to
- 39:51Speaker 3: be it. But with that being said, when you go vertical,
- 39:55Speaker 3: you got to go vertical with authority. Yeah, like that's
- 39:58Speaker 3: that's another part of it. Yep, Like duo can't be passive.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Like again, it's like man gap, but it looks like zone.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I get that running back does a lot of the
- 40:06Speaker 3: same steps and stuff, but it's supposed to be like
- 40:10Speaker 3: an interior gap run scheme. But like if you're still
- 40:15Speaker 3: like just kind of holding point a little bit, holding
- 40:17Speaker 3: point over here, it's like you're not cleaning it up
- 40:18Speaker 3: for the running back. So like even that, I'd rather
- 40:22Speaker 3: you go fast and even if you're not perfect, if
- 40:25Speaker 3: you're wrong let's say the defensive player tries to go
- 40:28Speaker 3: outside of the double team. That's fine, that's that's now
- 40:31Speaker 3: my guy. I've got to get to where I need
- 40:33Speaker 3: to get too faster than he can get to me,
- 40:35Speaker 3: because you're going like a bad out of hell with
- 40:38Speaker 3: bad intentions vertical. And then that's what I'm reading, and
- 40:42Speaker 3: so like even that play technically, you know the man
- 40:46Speaker 3: scheme part of you, like, well, you got your man
- 40:48Speaker 3: not not no, no, just just clean it up for me.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Just go fast and clean up for me. I'm not
- 40:52Speaker 3: saying that's gonna work every time, but it's gonna get
- 40:54Speaker 3: me four yards. And right now, four.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Yards is good. It's a mindset.
- 40:58Speaker 3: So right, we'll take a break. More OTB when we

- 42:30Speaker 1: This is Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Baton
- 42:33Speaker 1: Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana Sports, Kebby Live Love.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Some Fun Dot Given. All Right, welcome back here in
- 42:55Speaker 3: OTB Wednesday morning. At some point today, certainly want to
- 43:00Speaker 3: go across the football start to break down some of
- 43:03Speaker 3: the coverages and different things at South Carolina does. They
- 43:07Speaker 3: will throw cover zero at you. Now I'm not saying
- 43:10Speaker 3: it's thirty percent of the time, but they will do
- 43:12Speaker 3: it a handful of times. Matt told you earlier in
- 43:14Speaker 3: the week. They love to be aggressive, play zero, play
- 43:17Speaker 3: cover one. Now, it's funny like they're a team that
- 43:20Speaker 3: it's either very conservative or very aggressive. Like it's like
- 43:26Speaker 3: you're getting quarters or you're getting zero or one.
- 43:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, they're real advantageous. It seems like their
- 43:33Speaker 4: defense Corter is real advantageous guy. He's gonna he is
- 43:36Speaker 4: going to develop a game plan around what the offenses
- 43:41Speaker 4: is giving them.
- 43:42Speaker 2: And so they ran zero.
- 43:44Speaker 4: And when they played Kentucky a lot, Kentucky had a
- 43:47Speaker 4: backup quarterback, they were running the ball probably at the
- 43:50Speaker 4: first half, probably eighty percent of the plays Kentucky was
- 43:53Speaker 4: running the ball. They just loaded the box. So everything
- 43:56Speaker 4: looked like cover zero. So that probably exkews the stats
- 43:58Speaker 4: for the year. But like you could tell, if if
- 44:00Speaker 4: there's a weakness that he believes in offense has, he's
- 44:04Speaker 4: going to go try to exploit it. So what has
- 44:07Speaker 4: a weakness been for Lsu? I mean of course, Garrett
- 44:09Speaker 4: getting the ball down the field. Yeah, the running game,
- 44:12Speaker 4: so you okay. So I would say that they're gonna
- 44:16Speaker 4: come out and play some shell and dare I say
- 44:18Speaker 4: too high safety? Probably look against I had to predict it.
- 44:21Speaker 4: That's how I would come out against LSU. Two high safeties,
- 44:25Speaker 4: maybe run cover three. If you're gonna throw that single
- 44:28Speaker 4: high I wouldn't throw them. I wouldn't throw that safety
- 44:32Speaker 4: directly in the box. You can kind of play that area.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Yeah, cover three to twenty three point five percent of
- 44:37Speaker 3: the time of quarters twenty six point like one, like that.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Coordinator if he feels you can't throw it, like they would,
- 44:41Speaker 4: they would play quarters sometimes, but their safeties were like
- 44:44Speaker 4: six seven yards, so it looked like zero like it was.
- 44:48Speaker 4: It was very disrespectful. They were just daring. They gutta
- 44:50Speaker 4: throw it, and he just couldn't do it.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I would assume they're gonna come out and they're gonna
- 44:53Speaker 3: play shell, and they're gonna be like, I dare.
- 44:56Speaker 4: You to run, show show me me you've done it,
- 44:58Speaker 4: Show me you've done it, Show me what you did
- 45:00Speaker 4: this past week.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I would fully expect that to be the plan for them.
- 45:05Speaker 3: And again, like Matt's right, like they are going to
- 45:07Speaker 3: kind of base off what what do you do well?
- 45:09Speaker 3: What do you not do well? And that's what we're
- 45:11Speaker 3: going to play. And that's what you see because like
- 45:13Speaker 3: the Kentucky game doesn't look anything like the Missouri game.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Yep.
- 45:16Speaker 4: And I know he does like to play press man
- 45:19Speaker 4: on the outside. He likes to let his corners get
- 45:21Speaker 4: freed up. I watched when when I was watching Clemson
- 45:23Speaker 4: earlier this year, the Clemson game last year, I was
- 45:25Speaker 4: super impressed with South Carolina's defense, and they were like
- 45:28Speaker 4: they were like, you know what, I don't care how
- 45:30Speaker 4: good you are. We're going to play man to man
- 45:31Speaker 4: and we're gonna d your guys up. And I'll be
- 45:34Speaker 4: darned if they didn't do it. Oh, Clemson made some
- 45:36Speaker 4: good plays, but I could tell that that was their philosophy.
- 45:38Speaker 4: They were going to play man. They were going to press,
- 45:40Speaker 4: but that's what they felt was advantageous. They had to
- 45:43Speaker 4: stop the run, so they were they were putting people
- 45:44Speaker 4: in that box. With LSU, it's a little bit different. Yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 4: I don't think you got to worry about it at
- 45:49Speaker 4: least to start with Dah.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they definitely would have to prove to me that
- 45:52Speaker 3: you've done some changes and short up some things in
- 45:55Speaker 3: the run game for me to pay respect to it.
- 45:57Speaker 3: All right, we'll be back our number two o TV
- 46:00Speaker 3: off the bench, all right. So you know, we like
