- 0:32you so much for watching me. I just
- 0:36want to make sure I'm logged in here. And okay, I
- 0:39am. All
- 0:45right, so if you're watching me on a replay, thank you so much for watching
- 0:49me. I appreciate you. Let me get set up
- 0:52because, you know, I'm like not always set up
- 0:56properly. So yeah, my name is Celeste, I'm a therapist. Hey,
- 1:02excuse me, and I come on Wednesdays to
- 1:06talk about things. Hey, how are you, Crystal? To
- 1:10talk about things that we go through, and hey, P-Love, and
- 1:14think about ways that we can work through it. My
- 1:17goal behind this is to help you shift the way you think. So these episodes are
- 1:21also uploaded on my podcast. So if you're
- 1:24like an audio podcast person, this is a pretty cool
- 1:28way to go to work, especially if there's traffic, to kind of
- 1:34I like to think about what I do as giving doses of medicine on
- 1:37how to live life, because a lot of us
- 1:42And so today, that's what we're talking about. Actually, we're talking about this
- 1:45mental cage that so many people find
- 1:49themselves in and unsure, unclear
- 1:53how to get out. So when I think about a mental cage,
- 1:57I think about the fact that when we were born, we were a blank
- 2:01slate, right? We were babies. Over time, things
- 2:05happened, right? Whether there was explicitly where you can
- 2:09easily identify them. There are some people they can identify, yep, that was abuse
- 2:13or that happened, that caused X, Y, and Z. Some people are able
- 2:16to identify it very clearly. There are other things that you
- 2:20may not be able to identify clear. There's people, when
- 2:23I work with them, and they'll say, well, you know, I was never hit, never
- 2:28talked down to, certain things like it seemed like things were
- 2:31fine on the surface. But then maybe outside of the home, or
- 2:35maybe when things happen, some of your self-dialogue
- 2:39about the situation starts to change, right? A
- 2:42lot of times, we don't realize that some of
- 2:45the way that we're framing things can cause our mind
- 2:49to start thinking of the fact that maybe we can't do certain things.
- 2:53A lot of our limiting beliefs are brought on
- 2:56by circumstances, but they're also brought on by the
- 2:59way we're framing things. I just want to make sure I'm on
- 3:03the mic really quick. And I am not because
- 3:07when I edit this and it's not, okay, I'm
- 3:10on the mic now. So some of the things that we struggle with and
- 3:13the way that we think about things is because of how we frame it. And
- 3:17a lot of us haven't been taught, how do I process this
- 3:20thing that just happened? You know, sometimes something happens at
- 3:23school and you get home and you don't really think about it, but guess
- 3:27what? The experience is still there just because that thing that
- 3:30happened long ago is no longer happening. doesn't
- 3:34mean that your body hasn't calculated it. Your mind, this
- 3:38is the amazing thing about the mind, right? It does what it's
- 3:41supposed to do, as crazy as it may sound. When something happens,
- 3:45let's say the teacher embarrassed you
- 3:49and You didn't do well on a test and
- 3:53called you out. And maybe it wasn't intentional, but maybe you felt embarrassed
- 3:56by it, right? And you start to think that like, maybe
- 4:00I'm not a good test taker, right? Because I got, I
- 4:03didn't do well on this particular test. And then you start to
- 4:06believe that you're not able to do certain things because of that experience.
- 4:11It could have been the way the teacher taught. It could have been maybe you have a
- 4:14learning disability that was never tapped into, right? And
- 4:18so you grow up starting to think that you're not capable of
- 4:21certain things, but maybe if you had the right supports, it
- 4:24would look differently. And so you're not realizing that
- 4:28that incident that happened where you felt embarrassed by the
- 4:31situation, how it sits in your spirit and sits in
- 4:34your mind. So what is your mind going to do? It's going to help you. So, hey,
- 4:38you're about to take a test again. We're not really good at that,
- 4:41right? It's not going to go well. And so we start to feel anxious about
- 4:45taking a test. Literally, that's what happens to the mind. So
- 4:48a lot of these experiences that you may say, but that was 20 years ago, that
- 4:52was 10 years ago, Please understand that regardless of
- 4:55how long something happened, it can still affect you
- 4:58greatly. You'll be surprised even some of the smallest things
- 5:02that you may not even think of is happening because
- 5:05your mind has that experience. So
- 5:09when we start to think that we can separate from
- 5:12what's happened, when we try to numb some
- 5:16of the things through work through relationships, through
- 5:20having more kids, through trying to find somebody that will
- 5:23love us, when we start to mitigate, or we
- 5:27think we can mitigate some of the pain by some of the things that
- 5:30we're doing, it doesn't work. You can never change your
- 5:33experience. Your experience is your experience. And so a
- 5:37lot of those limiting beliefs, unfortunately, starts to affect
- 5:41your self-esteem, your confidence. And how do you move forward? get
- 5:45out of your comfort zone when that's happening. So I want to show
- 5:48you a diagram. And then I want to talk about, because I think
- 5:52people understand what mental cage is. I think
- 5:55people understand that when they really think about it, some of the ways that
- 5:58they're thinking about things is holding them back. So we're
- 6:02going to talk about solutions. How can we work on
- 6:05changing that? Because when you think about an actual cage,
- 6:09an actual cage, it's really hard to get out of a
- 6:12metal cage. And so when I think about
- 6:15the mental cage, it's not, we can literally like
- 6:19walk out of it, but we need the right tools to do that, right? The
- 6:22same thing with a metal cage, you need the right tools to cut through. Without
- 6:26the tools, you won't be able to do that. But with the mental cage, I'm
- 6:29gonna help you think about the tools that you need to be able to
- 6:33break free from what you're experiencing mentally. So
- 6:36when you look at this diagram, the comfort zone where
- 6:40you feel safe and in control, you know, it's
- 6:43going to take some time to get to the growth zone. But
- 6:47in order to do that, like this next step, right,
- 6:50you're affected by others' opinions. This is the fear zone,
- 6:54right? And then this part about finding excuses, you
- 6:57know, that's the the mind is amazing. And
- 7:02it's easy for us to give ourselves excuses not to do something we
- 7:05can try to become a little bit comfortable with not
- 7:08going for that promotion, we can become a little bit more comfortable with
- 7:12like, not healing in the way that we want to
- 7:15heal because we start to give ourselves reasons why it
- 7:18can't happen. Let's just use, um, let's just think
- 7:22about like weight loss or, um, working out or moving
- 7:25your body. We can say, well, I can't afford a gym. Uh,
- 7:28so I'm not going to be able to, lose weight, right?
- 7:32And so that zone right here, where we're finding excuses, and
- 7:36if you've been following me for a while, I'm big on like,
- 7:39yeah, you don't have money for a gym, but what can you do, right?
- 7:42You can walk in your neighborhood. So I start, one
- 7:45of the things that I do is I help people get out of the habit
- 7:49of looking at excuses as a reason why
- 7:53they can't do something. Acknowledge the barrier, but also look at what
- 7:56you can do, right? So this fear zone and
- 7:59finding excuses, unfortunately, is very common. And then
- 8:03the self-confidence you struggle with. And then we move into
- 8:06the learning zone, dealing with new challenges and
- 8:09problems, gaining new skills and experiences, and
- 8:14expanding your comfort zone. Being able to do that will get
- 8:18you into this blue area right here. For people that are listening on
- 8:21the audio, I have a visual up. Achieving objectives, you
- 8:25start to set new goals, finding your purpose,
- 8:29making your dreams a reality, self-confidence and belief. And
- 8:32I know people want to skip to here really quick,
- 8:37but it's gonna take some stuff to get there. On Instagram,
- 8:42Sophia says, some of us don't. No, we are in a
- 8:45cage. That is so true. That's actually, you're
- 8:49100% right. Some people don't even realize that they're holding themselves
- 8:52back because a lot of times we'll look at it, well, it's because
- 8:56of this thing that happened 10 years ago is why I can't do
- 9:00this thing. And I'm here to tell you that that's not true.
- 9:03It may feel like it, It may feel like because your parents
- 9:07weren't around. It may feel like because you experienced abuse
- 9:10growing up that you're not able or capable of doing certain things. The
- 9:14feeling may feel there, but what do we know about feelings is
- 9:18that feelings change. Feelings do not stay the same. Um,
- 9:21and so my goal and like when I'm talking about
- 9:25these things is to help you acknowledge the feeling because I
- 9:29get it. They're real, they're real feelings you're experiencing, but
- 9:32not allow that feeling to stop you from pushing forward. The
- 9:36reason why it feels that way is because remember the mind doesn't
- 9:39have concept of time. And so any feeling that
- 9:43comes up that mimics some of the past experiences, some of the
- 9:46past trauma, some of the past abuse, some of the past experiences,
- 9:50anything that mimics it, the fear starts to set in
- 9:54because you feel like you're back there. And so your mind wants to
- 9:57protect you. And so you have to engage with your thoughts. And
- 10:01that's why I'm big on making sure you understand you
- 10:04can choose to or not engaging your thoughts, but they're going to
- 10:07still happen. And those are the reasons why you might find yourself feeling
- 10:11stuck. So let's go into solutions.
- 10:15What does me getting out of this zone,
- 10:19what is that going to look like? So first,
- 10:23identifying the cage. So in these moments,
- 10:27your interactions with people, with yourself, consider if
- 10:30you're misinterpreting signals from others or if
- 10:33you're allowing a situation to drain you. A
- 10:36lot of times we do misinterpret situations from others. You
- 10:39know why? Because that's our mind trying to protect us,
- 10:43right? So let's say I'm always thinking, when
- 10:47you have a negative thought process pattern where maybe
- 10:52the day went good, but then somebody cut you off, right? And so
- 10:55now you're only thinking about, oh my gosh, I can't believe they cut me off. Or
- 10:58another example is you had an interaction at work that was negative.
- 11:02And then after work, you're calling your coworker about it, you're talking about
- 11:06it, you're getting yourself riled up. Besides that interaction at
- 11:09work, everything else was fine. You are literally
- 11:13training your brain to commiserate and complain and
- 11:17feel down about work. That's what happens, right? And
- 11:21so sometimes you're misinterpreting your life based off of
- 11:24only looking at the negative things and not bringing in the positive to
- 11:27your life. So in that scenario that
- 11:31I just gave, when you think about it, you're actually allowing a
- 11:34situation to drain you because now you're at home. And let's
- 11:38say that it was your boss that you had that interaction with.
- 11:41Your boss is at home eating dinner with their family. while you
- 11:45are feeling miserable about the thing that happened at work, right?
- 11:49So just be mindful of that is to ask yourself, is
- 11:52this something that I'm allowing to drain me? Am
- 11:55I misinterpreting it? Just because somebody texts
- 11:59and put an explanation mark, does that mean that they're mad at me? Right?
- 12:03Stop telling yourself stories about things. A lot of times when
- 12:06you don't have the information, you don't realize it, but you start filling
- 12:10in the blank with stories that aren't true. Right? So asking
- 12:14yourself, like, where is the evidence is something that's important to do.
- 12:18The next thing I want you to think about is taking responsibility.
- 12:23So asking yourself why you did something, what could
- 12:26have been done differently, and then take responsibility for your
- 12:30actions. This is hard to do. Let's
- 12:33say you've been harmed. Let's say you realize
- 12:37your friend screams at you or takes advantage of
- 12:41you, or they're always asking you to be the person that
- 12:44drives. Let's just use that example. You
- 12:48can sit there and say, why are they always asking me to drive?
- 12:51Why do they only ask me? because you always say yes,
- 12:55right? But you're thinking, like, I would actually
- 12:59switch up. I wouldn't make my friend drive all the time. But
- 13:03they're not you, right? And so, yeah, it does suck that
- 13:06they're not taking your needs
- 13:10into consideration. Or why do they always ask me to watch their
- 13:13kids? And then you feel bad for saying no, so you say yes
- 13:17all the time. When you think about those scenarios,
- 13:22you have to take responsibility for what you allow, right?
- 13:26And it's not that you did anything wrong, but when you start
- 13:29taking responsibility on what you choose to do and not do, when
- 13:32you take responsibility of what you say yes to and
- 13:36not, and granted, I understand saying no could be hard to
- 13:39do, but understand like when you're constantly saying yes to
- 13:43everyone else, you're essentially saying no to yourself, right?
- 13:47And doing that, it's not like self-love. You're not taking care
- 13:50of yourself when you do that. So we said, one,
- 13:54identify the cage. Two, we said, take responsibility. Three,
- 13:57practice awareness. Observe your thoughts without believing
- 14:01them. A
- 14:06lot of people, you don't want to be still. You don't want
- 14:10to be with your thoughts. A
- 14:13lot of people struggle with being with their thoughts because it feels negative.
- 14:16It feels really hard. So you know what they do? Distract, distract, distract.
- 14:20Sometimes you don't even realize that you're distracting. If you
- 14:24start working on practicing self-awareness, observing
- 14:28your thoughts, you'll be able to actually reframe them
- 14:32and change what they're saying, right? I
- 14:35can't pass this test. Actually, I can pass this test because I'm
- 14:38going to start studying, right? I'm going to reframe that. And
- 14:42then what's going to happen is my mind will start to
- 14:45have a new narrative. If I don't change the
- 14:48way I'm thinking about things and what I'm saying to myself, I'm
- 14:52not going to give my mind a new narrative. So you give your mind a
- 14:55new narrative by reframing it. But how could you reframe your
- 14:58thoughts if you're not engaging with them? They're going to come. They're
- 15:02going to come from the past experiences that may mimic something in
- 15:05the present, right? So if you want to
- 15:09really work on getting out that mental cage that you're noticing is
- 15:12happening, you're really going to have to work on engaging
- 15:16in the thoughts. And sometimes you could feel sad about it. You can grieve
- 15:20about it, where you start to think, like, I can't believe I'm
- 15:23talking to myself like this. When I work with people and
- 15:26they say certain things and it's negative, and I
- 15:30repeat it back, they actually feel really sad. And
- 15:33I'll say things like, would you say that to your daughter, to your niece? And they
- 15:37get really emotional. So a lot of times, they're not
- 15:40even aware that it's happening, because it's not happening on
- 15:44a conscious level. So really be mindful of
- 15:47that. The next thing that
- 15:50we're going to think about as we are practicing awareness
- 15:55is meditation. I've talked about meditation different
- 15:59times on the podcast. And last time
- 16:02when we talked about it here, I said, remember
- 16:06that as you're meditating, there's no right or wrong way to do it.
- 16:10But when you think about meditation, especially if you're trying to practice awareness,
- 16:14it can help free you from mental blocks like anxiety, fear,
- 16:19uncertainty. You can sit comfortably and allow thoughts
- 16:22to pass through your mind without engaging in them. So,
- 16:26you know, as you're listening to this or watching this, if you're somebody that
- 16:29struggles with being still and it feels hard and
- 16:34starting feels hard, I want you to really think about your goals, especially
- 16:38if you struggle with a lot of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. And let's face
- 16:42it, so much is happening in the world that it's easy to
- 16:45get consumed by the world, right? And the
- 16:48circumstances that are going on, that a lot of it that we can't change, And
- 16:53so to live your life day to day in fear, to live your life day to day
- 16:57with so much uncertainty is a hard way to operate
- 17:01in life. And so if you want to work on practicing this
- 17:04awareness that I'm talking about, I really want you to think about
- 17:08using meditation as a resource. And YouTube
- 17:12has plenty of meditations. And if you've never done it
- 17:15before, You can even just start with like a two-minute breathing
- 17:20circle meditation. I'm going to pull one up really quick just
- 17:24so you can have an idea. So I'm going to type in breathing
- 17:28circle two minutes. We're not going to do the full two minutes, but I
- 17:31do want you to understand what
- 17:36it. So let me change
- 17:40this and share
- 17:45screen. All right, so we're
- 17:49going. So if you see this breathing circle, this
- 17:55is a great way to just
- 17:58breathe in and breathe out. And
- 18:04if you go on YouTube and type in breathing circle for two
- 18:07minutes, this is a great way to start with just learning
- 18:11how to be still. Stop sharing. A
- 18:16great way to learn how to just work on being still. Because it
- 18:20can be draining. going
- 18:25on. And you know, when you get ready for bed, you're wondering why you can't
- 18:28sleep. It's because your mind is looking for answers, right?
- 18:32It's just going, going, going. Donald says,
- 18:35don't be consumed by the world and don't let the world consume you. Yes,
- 18:39so important. And, you know, when you think about
- 18:42society, it's so chaotic. And when I talk about being intentional, the
- 18:46reason why it's powerful and important to be intentional is because if
- 18:49you choose not to be intentional about what you're exposing your mind to,
- 18:53that means you're choosing for society to lead your mind. And
- 18:57do you really want society to lead your mind? I don't,
- 19:00right? If you do, then continue to go with that choice. But 10 times
- 19:05out of 10, people will say, no, they don't want to be consumed by the world. The
- 19:09next step is conquering your emotions. While
- 19:12you can't eliminate negative emotions, even though I don't like saying negative, I
- 19:16know sometimes you look at some of those hard ones as negative, right? You
- 19:19can't eliminate those emotions entirely, but
- 19:23you can minimize how they have an effect on you.
- 19:27A lot of times we are so consumed by our emotions, and
- 19:32it feels impossible to work on
- 19:35change. One way to work on that is grabbing yourself
- 19:39a feelings wheel. This is a feelings wheel from an organization called BEAM,
- 19:43really great organization. But if you Google feelings
- 19:47wheel, that way you can start
- 19:50working on naming what you are going through. It's hard
- 19:54to conquer something if you can't even identify what it is that
- 19:57you're feeling. And a lot of times, especially kids
- 20:00too, let me just pull up this kids emotion chart. I did it last week, but I
- 20:03always, I want to help parents so they can feel like they have the tools
- 20:07to work with their kids too. They have, this is another example on
- 20:11feelings. Well, Being able to equip
- 20:15kids with the knowledge of what they're feeling is powerful. We
- 20:19are adults and we don't even understand our feelings sometimes.
- 20:23So of course the kids are gonna be struggling too, right? And
- 20:26so if you can work on conquering your emotions so they're not controlling you,
- 20:31right? Cause we allow our emotions to control us. If you can work
- 20:34on doing that, life starts to look differently because you're
- 20:38not gonna be so consumed by it. Two more things. Expand
- 20:43your horizons. This is something that can be really challenging and
- 20:46hard, and I understand. But trying new things are
- 20:49uncomfortable at first. Eventually, it becomes easier. I'm
- 20:53like the queen of this specific thing.
- 20:57When I tell you I wanted to get a state job, they didn't hire me. But
- 21:01I wanted to get a state job and call myself retiring. And
- 21:04when life started to take a different direction, and I realized I wasn't equipped
- 21:09to be in spaces where, you
- 21:13know, I'm an advocator, that people don't want that when you're in high positions.
- 21:17They just want you to be, Yes, ma'am. No, ma'am. I
- 21:21started this practice and then I started this podcast and
- 21:24I wrote two books, published two books. Now
- 21:27I'm starting a group practice. Literally all those things I just named, even
- 21:31though people just see the finished product or see it being come
- 21:34out, you just see that part. You don't see the other parts, this
- 21:38part right here, the learning zone and
- 21:43the challenges, right? Because I continue
- 21:46to challenge myself, right? I start to
- 21:49gain confidence and some of the things that I've started I've changed
- 21:53or some of the things that I've tried on this journey, this
- 21:57entrepreneurship journey didn't work out. I went back to the
- 22:00drawing board. I learned from that experience. Right?
- 22:04So a lot of times, you struggle with trying
- 22:08new things, because maybe when you tried something years ago,
- 22:11it didn't work out. And your thought, because that's what happened. Your
- 22:15thoughts would be like, oh, Celeste, you really think you could do that? You really think you could be a therapist? You
- 22:19really think you can host a podcast? You know what I mean? Let's
- 22:22say that you start a podcast. When I first started coming
- 22:25on video years ago, when there was a platform called
- 22:29Periscope, there were people. in here that had been
- 22:32following me since those days. I used to come on five
- 22:36days a week. and talk about a subject like I'm doing now,
- 22:39and then ways to deal with it. I used to do that. I said, OK, my
- 22:43goal is I want to help people work on healing. Therapy
- 22:47is not cheap. It's expensive. Some of
- 22:51the tools that can help is not easy to get to. And
- 22:55when I first started, it wasn't like people came into my lives. But
- 22:59I was like, OK, it's cool. I'm going to be consistent. Little
- 23:03by little, people started coming in. boom, boom, boom, to the point where
- 23:06it was like normal. People was looking forward to this 12 o'clock,
- 23:10five days a week, literally. And then Fridays, I
- 23:13would allow people to ask questions. It was a free-flowing thing, right? I
- 23:18was able to build that. But when I was starting, before I pressed play
- 23:21or record or whatever on the video,
- 23:25my stomach would drop. It would be scary, right? If
- 23:29I said, oh, well, nobody came on day one, If
- 23:32I said, nobody came on day one, and then the thoughts go in
- 23:36like, do you think you could do this? And if I don't challenge that thought
- 23:39and be like, yeah, I could do this. I just got to keep going. If
- 23:42you build it, they will come. I'm literally answering those
- 23:46negative thoughts. That's literally what you have to do. But
- 23:49again, you're not taught. Sometimes you don't even realize other people are in
- 23:52the same cycle. You think you're alone. And then you start to
- 23:56see other people doing stuff. not realizing that they're
- 23:59having the same experiences that you're having. The difference is
- 24:03that we're challenging those thoughts. I'm not allowing
- 24:06it to be a system that
- 24:10just has free reign in my mind. I'm not allowing thoughts
- 24:14to just flow. I'm definitely engaging in
- 24:17them. I have the same negative thoughts you have, but
- 24:20I don't allow it to have dominion in my life, right? That's the
- 24:24difference. We really have to work on not
- 24:27allowing those negative thoughts to have dominion in our
- 24:30life. So expanding your horizons. The
- 24:34last thing is breaking through limiting belief. So these
- 24:38are some common statements that I hear people say, well, I'm too lazy to
- 24:42do that, or it's not possible. I
- 24:45also hear people saying, well, I'm just not a consistent person. OK,
- 24:49you're claiming not being consistent. You're claiming that you're
- 24:52too lazy. You're claiming that it's impossible. Guess
- 24:56what your mind is doing. Your mind is going at what you're telling
- 25:00it. You're telling your mind you're lazy. You're telling your mind it's not possible.
- 25:03Your mind's not going to help you look for the possibilities. I started
- 25:07this podcast in 2018. When
- 25:11people were like, everybody has a podcast. Do you really want to do that? When I
- 25:14opened my practice, do you really want to do that? You got this like salary job
- 25:18with benefits. Do you really want to do that? And
- 25:21so I could have let those thoughts from people or infiltrate my
- 25:26spirit and then not have done it, right?
- 25:30I would have never known the possibilities. And so as you're thinking
- 25:33about these limiting beliefs, you have
- 25:37to acknowledge that you're having them and you have to actually work
- 25:40on reframing them. If you don't reframe them, what's
- 25:44going to happen? Your mind is doing what it's designed to do. it's designed
- 25:47to go at the direction that you're taking it. So I'm too
- 25:51lazy. So I'm going to show ways that I could continue being lazy.
- 25:55If it's like, I'm not lazy, I'm powerful, I can do all
- 25:58things, you know, and if we start naming it
- 26:01that way, my mind's going to start to show me the ways that I can
- 26:05make things happen. Someone says, wow,
- 26:08I came in right on time. I struggle really bad with
- 26:11self-sabotage and feel like I'm on a hamster wheel daily.
- 26:15Yeah, like literally in a cage daily. And like Sophia
- 26:18said earlier, a lot of times you don't even realize it's you
- 26:22holding yourself back because your mind will show you other ways that it's holding
- 26:25back. Yes, you need to speak positive to yourself always. There's power
- 26:29in the tongue. Yes, so important. So
- 26:33sometimes when you're saying things and you may not realize the way you're
- 26:36saying it, your mind is listening. Your mind is literally listening
- 26:40to everything. I seen a Five Guys
- 26:44shirt on somebody, and all of a sudden, I wanted a burger. In
- 26:48that moment, I knew that my craving for the burger came from
- 26:51what I saw. So if my mind is that powerful where something
- 26:54as simple as an advertisement on somebody's shirt can
- 26:58make me crave a burger, imagine what else can happen when
- 27:02we're watching these things, when we're scrolling on social media. Remember,
- 27:05a society, especially if you live in America, It wants you
- 27:09to spend money. It wants you to feel like you're not enough, right? I
- 27:12found out that the TikTok in China and America looks
- 27:16different. The stuff that they allow that we see here, they
- 27:19don't see there, right? Because they understand the power of the mind. And
- 27:23so we don't understand that we can actually work
- 27:27on changing the way our mind is operating by changing what
- 27:30we expose it to. It's not just people in our lives,
- 27:34because a lot of times we say, oh, who's in your tribe? And
- 27:37that's a big thing. People are a big factor. But also, it's
- 27:41what we are using with our time. How are we
- 27:44utilizing our time? A lot of us are just in
- 27:48a fog, right? We go to work, we go through the motions, right? We're surviving,
- 27:52right? Most people are just surviving life. A lot
- 27:55of people aren't living life. But in order to work on living life,
- 27:59you actually have to engage in something, teach yourself something new.
- 28:03I know a lot about mental health. If somebody asks me to
- 28:06speak, these things that I do here on Wednesdays, Like
- 28:1010 minutes before I'll like just jot stuff down and create these slides.
- 28:13Like this is nothing for me. I know this stuff like the back of my hand. Just
- 28:17because I know it doesn't mean I don't still allow it to infiltrate my spirit.
- 28:21I'm still listening to positive motivational videos. I'm still reading.
- 28:25I'm still learning. I know a lot, but I'll never
- 28:29stop learning because I understand the society that I'm in. If
- 28:32I stop learning just because I know this stuff, I can easily stop
- 28:36practicing it, regardless of what you know. There's a lot of
- 28:39people that know a lot of things. They're very smart, but they make
- 28:42very poor choices. So it's not about the knowledge
- 28:45that I have that keeps me at a space of feeling peace. It's
- 28:49literally the way that I engage in life. I
- 28:53needed this today. Yeah, you're welcome, Crystal. It's nice seeing you. So
- 28:56I hope this was helpful. I hope this makes sense. Answer
- 28:59challenge, negative thoughts, that's something to put into practice. Yes.
- 29:03Yes, Christy, answer. the thought challenge it. I
- 29:06always tell people our mind is
- 29:10just looking for answers. Literally, I don't want to minimize it
- 29:13to be like, oh, it's just looking for answers. But I really try to make things very
- 29:17simple and easily digestible so that it doesn't feel complicated.
- 29:21People are always selling things around wellness. And it
- 29:24feels like, oh, I got to get that in order to start this process. When
- 29:27I buy Celeste's journal, you could buy my journal, but I'm using
- 29:30my journal as an example. If I buy Celeste's journal, then
- 29:34I'm going to be able to do X, Y, and Z. The journal is just one tool that
- 29:37I have that you can use. It's more than
- 29:41just the journal, right? It's the daily practicing of
- 29:44it, right? And so if we can work on practicing, like
- 29:48what are we thinking and challenging those thoughts
- 29:52because they're not real, that's important. Consistent, constant
- 29:55practice daily. Yes. So yes, trailblazing
- 30:00mom. So constant practice daily, right?
- 30:04So if you can, you know, the same way you're hungry, And
- 30:09you go to the refrigerator. This is the last thing I'll say. You're
- 30:13hungry. You go to the refrigerator because your stomach is hungry. Guess
- 30:16what's happening? Most of our spirits are hungry. Our spirits are
- 30:19wanting more. They don't want this junk. They don't want this crap. When
- 30:23you eat crap, don't you feel like crap when you eat crap? Don't
- 30:26get me wrong. I have a really healthy way of eating. But sometimes, I
- 30:30want that burger. I just told y'all. I see the burger advertisement. I
- 30:33want the burger. I want the cake. And I enjoy it.
- 30:38But also, I feel it. I could feel it. I could feel the heaviness. Literally,
- 30:42we are consuming so much of society. We're
- 30:46consuming so much negative content. Of
- 30:50course, our spirit is starving, right? And so we got to give
- 30:53it a new narrative. So give your mind a new narrative. If you want to break free
- 30:57from that cage that you're feeling and experiencing, give your
- 31:00mind a new narrative. So thank you so much. If you're not following me, follow me.
