- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Jirit Achara Tolmeira Sharish Le Podcr.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I am back again with a new podcast.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And I thought this week we'd talk about something kind of fun.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I remember some months ago a friend of mine sending a picture of a book she'd bought with phrases to say in Irish to your dog.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: And I actually bought that myself this last trip to Ireland, but I don't have it with me.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: So I thought I would write some phrases you could use with your dog or any other pet and uh just add a little bit of fun to your daily speaking Irish.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: For people who maybe don't have a speaking partner handier often, this is another way you can speak Irish.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Speak it to your dog, and um hopefully they don't speak it back to you.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So maybe to start some words for various animals.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: The first madra, you've probably heard throughout these episodes, is dog.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: It is a masculine noun.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: The word for cat, pretty easy, it's cut, it's spelled the same, it's also masculine.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Horse is kapel, masculine.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: An ew is a queera, which is feminine.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And a fish is eusk.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And Kakinta, there are more kinds of animals in that in the world.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Just look em up on Changlin or Folklore and pop those into Aber.ie and see how they sound.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Alright, so now for some phrases.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Erdose It's Colleen Mahu.

- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And you're gonna use this with one person or animal.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: If you have more than one animal or person you want to sit down, you would say Sigishius.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: One I say all the time to my dog is Tarlum, which is come with me, or Tar Anshaw, come here.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: You could say Fan Ansho, stay or wait here.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And we're getting into some very cute phrases next which I say all the time to my and other dogs.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Nachwil to Glocha Aren't you cute?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Or you could pump it up and say Nahwiltu Glocha Erfad Aren't you entirely cute?

- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I'll look up the book and put it in the show notes if you care to purchase it.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: It is, I will say, difficult at this moment, this moment being July 27, 2026, to purchase books from Ireland, if you are living in the United States, due to America's tariffs and uh political decisions.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: So, you may have to wait, or you may have to go to Ireland itself to purchase a book.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I hope that you had fun and practice some of these with your dog, and I'll see you next time.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Slongeal.
