- 0:59Speaker 6: I don't wish if I say, okay, is back. I
- 1:03Speaker 6: was like, yeah, I'm gonna bring us back here and
- 1:05Speaker 6: Landra have a mic off.
- 1:06Speaker 7: I don't have headphones on. I'm trying to make a call,
- 1:09Speaker 7: so I don't know.
- 1:09Speaker 8: Yeah, she's busy, she's work doing stuff. We're catching Roddy.
- 1:12Speaker 8: We're gonna have Roddy on video. He ended up having
- 1:14Speaker 8: to do a couple of things. But it's okay. We're
- 1:16Speaker 8: gonna have Roddy Jones ESPN play the Georgia Tech baseball
- 1:20Speaker 8: and football at Georgia Tech. Always a pleasure to have
- 1:23Speaker 8: my guy on the show. Mister Roddy Jones. What is
- 1:26Speaker 8: going on, sir?
- 1:27Speaker 5: What's up?
- 1:28Speaker 9: Man?
- 1:28Speaker 3: It's good to talk to you, Jake, and uh just
- 1:30Speaker 3: the first time I been on the show since MAT's
- 1:31Speaker 3: been here. Congrats on the on the new you, on
- 1:34Speaker 3: the new setup. I'm excited to excited chat with you guys.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he says first cuss word today on air, so you.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Know we're off to you know, birthday today.
- 1:42Speaker 8: It's a ride of passage, you know, Roddy like you
- 1:44Speaker 8: and I, we we get away with a lot on
- 1:46Speaker 8: serious XCM, but when you do local radio, everybody has
- 1:49Speaker 8: that moment.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like it's I was told when I first
- 1:52Speaker 3: got into business you can say anything on air once.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Depending on what you say what determined whether or not
- 1:58Speaker 3: you get a chance to say it again.
- 2:01Speaker 4: That's actually a great line.
- 2:02Speaker 6: I think they really just told me like I made
- 2:05Speaker 6: too much of it. They should have slept on the run,
- 2:08Speaker 6: just stept going. But yeah, we kind of made it
- 2:10Speaker 6: a thing for like five more.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Minutes as it should be. You know, it's like the
- 2:14Speaker 3: locker room. You make a small mistakes.
- 2:16Speaker 4: And that's all right, no doubt. Right.
- 2:20Speaker 8: I certainly want to talk acc football, but look, you
- 2:22Speaker 8: played college baseball. You and I, when we do shows together,
- 2:25Speaker 8: we're going to find a way to talk some college baseball.
- 2:28Speaker 8: This is the first chance that you and I have
- 2:30Speaker 8: had the opportunity to catch up since LSU won the
- 2:33Speaker 8: national championship. Man, what did you think about the Tigers
- 2:36Speaker 8: run through Omaha, maybe just the postseason in general?
- 2:40Speaker 3: Well, I thought, first off, I want to start with
- 2:42Speaker 3: LSU because I feel like all the talk after the
- 2:44Speaker 3: championship series was about Kevin Schnall getting ejected and just
- 2:48Speaker 3: the entire spectacle around that. So let's start with LSU
- 2:52Speaker 3: and what Jay Johnson has built and what Jay Johnson
- 2:55Speaker 3: has done over the course of his career obviously at
- 2:58Speaker 3: Arizona and made it LSU establishing the best baseball program
- 3:03Speaker 3: or maybe continuing the best baseball program in the country
- 3:06Speaker 3: national championships to in the last three years. And I
- 3:09Speaker 3: do think it's a legitimate conversation on whether or not
- 3:12Speaker 3: LSU is the greatest baseball program in the history of
- 3:16Speaker 3: college baseball. We've Ben Hartstock and I had that discussion,
- 3:20Speaker 3: and certainly USC is in the running for all the
- 3:22Speaker 3: championships that they have twelve of them. Texas is in
- 3:25Speaker 3: the running for all the College World Series appearances they
- 3:28Speaker 3: have far and away more than anybody else. But I
- 3:32Speaker 3: think LSU is the one that I would take because
- 3:35Speaker 3: of the success since what was the first one nineteen
- 3:37Speaker 3: ninety one, I mean eight championships. Since then, you've got
- 3:42Speaker 3: the eight out of nine times you get to the
- 3:45Speaker 3: championship series you win. It. Just the consistency that's been
- 3:49Speaker 3: built down there, I think I would go with LSU.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Maybe it's recency biased, but Texas is the one that's
- 3:57Speaker 3: that's in the conversation right now. To me, with la
- 4:00Speaker 3: USC has to establish some sort of relevance in this
- 4:03Speaker 3: era of the portal where it's so much tougher to
- 4:06Speaker 3: win than it was in the sixties and seventies when
- 4:09Speaker 3: they were dominating.
- 4:10Speaker 8: And that's what I was going to say, not only
- 4:11Speaker 8: because of the portal, Roddy, but I think it is
- 4:13Speaker 8: LSU because of the teams and the programs that care
- 4:17Speaker 8: now about college basketball compared to what it used to be.
- 4:20Speaker 8: And I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but it used
- 4:21Speaker 8: to be very regional. It was like in the southeast
- 4:24Speaker 8: and then in southern California, and that's like the only
- 4:27Speaker 8: people that really cared about college baseball. And you go
- 4:31Speaker 8: back and you look thirty thirty five years ago, like
- 4:33Speaker 8: cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. Like all these
- 4:36Speaker 8: small programs certainly had their time, but like now everybody
- 4:40Speaker 8: seems to care. Like every major conference cares, the ACC,
- 4:43Speaker 8: the SEC, the Big Twelve, even the Big Ten now
- 4:45Speaker 8: with the additions that they made, like they care a lot.
- 4:48Speaker 8: The Sun Belt certainly cares a lot about college baseball.
- 4:50Speaker 8: So for me, like with the time and the effort
- 4:53Speaker 8: and the resources that everybody's now putting into college baseball,
- 4:56Speaker 8: that's what makes LSU's runs, what they've done in the
- 4:59Speaker 8: last what you know, thirty thirty five years, that much
- 5:03Speaker 8: more impressive compared to even like USC who had done
- 5:05Speaker 8: it in a long time.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I completely agree, man. And then you even factor
- 5:10Speaker 3: in this stuff with like the way the draft is structured,
- 5:14Speaker 3: the fact that that not only like if you went
- 5:16Speaker 3: back twenty years, the best players out of high school
- 5:21Speaker 3: typically win. Now the best players out of high school,
- 5:24Speaker 3: the very best go, but that next year are really
- 5:27Speaker 3: coming to college, especially at the picture, especially pictures because
- 5:30Speaker 3: of the development that you're getting at the college level,
- 5:33Speaker 3: which is on par and even sometimes better than what
- 5:35Speaker 3: you get in the minors. Because of the attention and
- 5:38Speaker 3: the resources that these colleges have so so with that
- 5:41Speaker 3: level of talent spread across the country, it's so much
- 5:43Speaker 3: tougher to be as consistent as LSU has been, especially
- 5:46Speaker 3: at that conference through I mean, the SEC is an
- 5:49Speaker 3: absolute bear and they and they've done a great job
- 5:52Speaker 3: at it. So I'm with you. I'm the MLSU here,
- 5:55Speaker 3: all right.
- 5:56Speaker 6: Right, we're at that time of the summer where we're
- 5:58Speaker 6: kind of like transitioning. Is transition our focus from baseball
- 6:02Speaker 6: to football, So let's do that right now. So something
- 6:04Speaker 6: that's great interest to our listeners here in the SEC is,
- 6:09Speaker 6: of course the Clemson Tigers. So first game the season
- 6:11Speaker 6: for LSU, a huge matchup defending ACC champs. Kid Klubnick
- 6:18Speaker 6: is returning his top three receivers. I kind of want
- 6:20Speaker 6: to hear your thoughts, just a breakdown, just an overview
- 6:23Speaker 6: of Cad, the offense, and their team in general, just
- 6:28Speaker 6: to kind of start introducing our fan base to Clemson.
- 6:33Speaker 3: It's a loaded Clemson team. It's the best Clemson team
- 6:37Speaker 3: on paper that Dabos Sweeney has had since Trevor Lawrence
- 6:40Speaker 3: is last year at Clemson. It is a Clemson team
- 6:43Speaker 3: with the most expectations since probably Trevor sophomore year at
- 6:48Speaker 3: Clemson twenty nineteen, which is the year after they won
- 6:51Speaker 3: the national championships. So it is an absolutely loaded unit.
- 6:54Speaker 3: It starts with kid club Nick, who's been his third
- 6:56Speaker 3: years the full time starter, started some as freshman year
- 6:59Speaker 3: as well, won an ACC championship game. As a matter
- 7:02Speaker 3: of fact, coming in for dj Ulli Angloway and his
- 7:05Speaker 3: maturity is the amount that he's matured over the course
- 7:10Speaker 3: of his career has been incredible. Man. He's gotten so
- 7:13Speaker 3: much more comfortable in Garrett Riley's system, which this will
- 7:16Speaker 3: be his third year in that system, and he got
- 7:18Speaker 3: so much better throwing the deep ball and in a
- 7:20Speaker 3: quarterback run game last year that I think he's poised
- 7:23Speaker 3: for a big time season. You mentioned the weapons at
- 7:26Speaker 3: receiver Bryant Westco, Antonio Williams, TJ. Moore, and then they
- 7:30Speaker 3: return They returned a receiver a couple who a couple
- 7:34Speaker 3: of years ago was their leading receiver when Antonio Williams
- 7:38Speaker 3: was out. So when you look at at the receiving core,
- 7:42Speaker 3: it says good. Maybe not at the top end as
- 7:44Speaker 3: like in Ohio State or in Alabama, but it is
- 7:47Speaker 3: as talented as any of those from top to bottom.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I saw some projections ahead Antonio Williams as the number
- 7:53Speaker 3: one receiver in this class, you know upcoming, don't. I
- 7:56Speaker 3: wouldn't quite go there. He's a slot guy, but he
- 7:58Speaker 3: is incredible at the point of it time or at
- 8:01Speaker 3: the catch point, and he's a really good and smooth,
- 8:04Speaker 3: explosive receiver. And then on defense, all they have is
- 8:07Speaker 3: the guy who's projected to be the first defensive end
- 8:11Speaker 3: of off the board in next year's draft, the guy
- 8:14Speaker 3: who's projected to be the first defensive tackle off the
- 8:17Speaker 3: board in next year's draft. A linebacker corp that's got
- 8:20Speaker 3: a butting star and Sammy Brown, an NFL corner in
- 8:23Speaker 3: Avion Torell, and a future avon corn in Nashton Hampton.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So it is a loaded team with a new defensive
- 8:29Speaker 3: coordinator and Tom Allen, third year offensive coordinator, and Garrett Riley.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And they really should run through the acc We'll see
- 8:36Speaker 3: they got to do it. They've got some holes. Safety
- 8:39Speaker 3: running back would be the two that I would point to.
- 8:41Speaker 3: But it's a really talented team and it'll be fascinating
- 8:45Speaker 3: to see how LSU deals with that front. With all
- 8:48Speaker 3: that LSU is replacing on the offensive line.
- 8:51Speaker 8: And obviously when you have a matchup like this, and
- 8:54Speaker 8: I agree with everything you said. I mean, certainly Clemson
- 8:56Speaker 8: has some strong points in the front seven, the receiver,
- 8:59Speaker 8: and you know, different positions. You can kind of go
- 9:02Speaker 8: and you can highlight players. But is it all going
- 9:05Speaker 8: to come down to Kate club Nick versus Garrett Nessmeyer.
- 9:07Speaker 8: I mean it really feels like that. I mean, no
- 9:09Speaker 8: matter where you look, Roddy, it's like those are one
- 9:12Speaker 8: and two, and it's been different orders in different kind
- 9:15Speaker 8: of polls, in different ratings and different rankings, whatever it
- 9:18Speaker 8: might be. But for the most part, when you look,
- 9:20Speaker 8: it is nuss Meyer and club Nick in some kind
- 9:22Speaker 8: of order there. It just feels like it is going
- 9:25Speaker 8: to be which quarterback makes the play and which one
- 9:28Speaker 8: has the mistake.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I do think that that will be a big part
- 9:32Speaker 3: of it. Man, Like the one who plays mistake free
- 9:34Speaker 3: football is putting their team in a position to win.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I do think LSU has the advantage at the running
- 9:40Speaker 3: back position for sure, with Kateen Durham, who's a butting star.
- 9:42Speaker 3: We saw him against Arkansas, which is probably a breakout
- 9:44Speaker 3: game last year, and Clemson just doesn't have that at
- 9:49Speaker 3: the running back position. They're going to rely on a
- 9:53Speaker 3: sort of a committee approach. We'll see if they're second
- 9:56Speaker 3: wing your rusher. Last year, Jay Haynes got towards a
- 9:59Speaker 3: cl in the championship game, I believe the conference championship game.
- 10:03Speaker 3: So we'll see if he's back. But it's gonna be
- 10:06Speaker 3: an inexperienced group. The the fact that LSU has a
- 10:11Speaker 3: Caden Durham to help out Garrett Asmeyer. Not that he
- 10:14Speaker 3: needs it, but I think it can take some pressure
- 10:17Speaker 3: off of that offensive line who's going to have a
- 10:20Speaker 3: time blocking Peter Woods and TJ. Parker. So I think
- 10:25Speaker 3: that that Kate Klubnick is going to have more pressure
- 10:27Speaker 3: on him. I think he's going to have to do
- 10:29Speaker 3: more with his legs. I think he's gonna have to
- 10:31Speaker 3: be more of a running threat throughout the season, but
- 10:33Speaker 3: certainly in that first game against an LSD defense that
- 10:36Speaker 3: that should be improved from a here ago.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Yeah, let's take a little bit wider view. At the ACC.
- 10:42Speaker 6: You said that you thought, you know, Clinton has a
- 10:44Speaker 6: lot of expectations. They should kind of run through the ACC.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Now over here, we're kind of we're hester now we're
- 10:49Speaker 6: big fans of Georgia Tech and Haines King's a good
- 10:52Speaker 6: hard knows East Texas boys on the meatad team Robett
- 10:57Speaker 6: I love it and they so they play the third
- 10:59Speaker 6: week September thirteenth. They match up Clemson Georgia Tech. I
- 11:02Speaker 6: wish that game was kind of pushed more towards the
- 11:04Speaker 6: end of the year. But is there anybody in the
- 11:07Speaker 6: ACC that you see pushing Clemson.
- 11:09Speaker 5: It might have a chance to overthrow.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Them on a whole of the season. No, Clemson should
- 11:17Speaker 3: be the most talented team by a good margin unless
- 11:20Speaker 3: Miami has things come together. I think talent wise, you
- 11:23Speaker 3: can look at Miami with Carson Beck coming over at
- 11:25Speaker 3: the quarterback position and say, okay, I can convince myself
- 11:28Speaker 3: that they'll be in the running. They just lose a
- 11:30Speaker 3: ton at receiver and then that defense was not good
- 11:33Speaker 3: last year. They have to retool the secondary. So I
- 11:36Speaker 3: think that Miami is probably the one from a talent standpoint. Now,
- 11:40Speaker 3: look George Tech. They've been big game hunters since Brent
- 11:43Speaker 3: Key has been the head coach there. They have a
- 11:44Speaker 3: winning record against ranked teams and ACC play. I obviously
- 11:48Speaker 3: played Georgia really close last year, eight overtimes, probably should
- 11:51Speaker 3: have won that game if the referees knew what targeting was.
- 11:53Speaker 3: But that tither here nor there. But ultimately, like, this
- 11:57Speaker 3: is a Georgia Tech team that is going to be
- 11:59Speaker 3: dangerous weekend out. Haines King is really really talented and
- 12:02Speaker 3: really confident. Uh, you got Jamal Haynes at the running
- 12:06Speaker 3: back position who's in his third year as a starter
- 12:08Speaker 3: after switching over from receiver. Defense, loses Tyler Santucci, They're
- 12:13Speaker 3: going to have to create more pressure on the quarterback.
- 12:15Speaker 3: We'll see if they're able to do that. Losing Romelo Height.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Was a big one.
- 12:18Speaker 3: But I think this is a team that is not
- 12:20Speaker 3: going to shy away from anybody. So I'm excited about
- 12:24Speaker 3: the Jackets this year. Cautiously optimistic.
- 12:26Speaker 5: You know.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I don't want to hype him up two much and
- 12:28Speaker 3: get everybody talking to talking about him and patting him
- 12:31Speaker 3: on the back. I want everybody telling them how they're
- 12:32Speaker 3: not going to win six games this year and have
- 12:35Speaker 3: that chip on our shoulder.
- 12:36Speaker 8: Well, they always say like a team takes the identity
- 12:39Speaker 8: of their head coach, and if that is the case
- 12:42Speaker 8: there for Georgia Tech, we know one thing they're going
- 12:44Speaker 8: to be gritty as hell with Brinkey.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Being their head coach.
- 12:47Speaker 8: Like, I like, if I interview him, roddy, I'm like,
- 12:50Speaker 8: is he going to try to tackle me here in
- 12:52Speaker 8: the next like five minutes because he has that look
- 12:54Speaker 8: to him.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Usually usually he does tackle me before we do any
- 12:58Speaker 3: sport of a meeting or interview, like it will put
- 13:01Speaker 3: me at a headlock and give me a nod before
- 13:03Speaker 3: I try and coop him up sweep the leg. But
- 13:06Speaker 3: he is he is a guy who is literally too
- 13:09Speaker 3: gritty to be pretty. I mean, he's he burned all
- 13:12Speaker 3: He wore a tie the first ACC media day he
- 13:15Speaker 3: went to, has not won a tie since, Like he
- 13:18Speaker 3: says he burned all of them. I don't believe that,
- 13:20Speaker 3: but I do believe that he gave him all the way.
- 13:22Speaker 3: But he is a hard nosed, uh demanding players coach.
- 13:27Speaker 3: If there's a such thing as all of those things,
- 13:30Speaker 3: because he obviously he's been in those guys shoes. He
- 13:34Speaker 3: loves Georgia Tech. He was a captain there in the
- 13:36Speaker 3: late nineties with Joe Hamilton at quarterback. It means a
- 13:39Speaker 3: lot to him, and he's done a great job of
- 13:41Speaker 3: assembling an incredible staff. I mean Buster Faulkner. Nobody knew
- 13:45Speaker 3: who Buster Faulkner was when they plucked him from being
- 13:48Speaker 3: a quality control assistant on the offensive side of the
- 13:51Speaker 3: ball from Georgia of all places. He becomes the offensive
- 13:54Speaker 3: coordinator at Georgia Tech. He just has done a phenomenal job,
- 13:58Speaker 3: especially with that run game, but with the entire offense,
- 14:02Speaker 3: making Georgia Tech one of the most difficult offenses to
- 14:04Speaker 3: prepare for with everything that they do pre snap. And
- 14:07Speaker 3: then he Jeep Wade at the offensive line position, has
- 14:11Speaker 3: done a really nice job continuing where Brent Key left off.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Tyler Santuccu is a great hire last year, and now
- 14:17Speaker 3: we got one of your boys, Blake Gideon's right comes
- 14:20Speaker 3: over from Texas City to be the defensive coordinator. So
- 14:23Speaker 3: I'm really excited to see what he's going to bring.
- 14:25Speaker 3: But you are right, the Georgia Tech team really embodies
- 14:28Speaker 3: what Brent Key is all about, and honestly, it was
- 14:32Speaker 3: a necessary change after the Jeff Collins era.
- 14:37Speaker 4: All right, there, he is our guy, Roddy Jones.
- 14:39Speaker 8: You'll catch him on ESPN also my colleague over a
- 14:42Speaker 8: serious XM.
- 14:43Speaker 4: He does it all, Roddy.
- 14:44Speaker 8: We truly appreciate the time as always, sir, and look
- 14:47Speaker 8: forward to as we get closer.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Continuing to talk about this Clemson Lshue matchup.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Yes, sir, thanks boys, it's a.
- 14:55Speaker 8: Never thinking as he's talking, like how talented do you
- 14:57Speaker 8: have to be to play college baseball and also college football?
- 15:03Speaker 4: And like do it where you don't suck?
- 15:06Speaker 6: Yeah, you gotta be real talented. We haven't seen it
- 15:09Speaker 6: a whole lot right here.
- 15:11Speaker 8: Like, well, actually, I mean I got the time of
- 15:14Speaker 8: all places to be spoiled by guys that can do it.
- 15:17Speaker 8: I guess it would be Chad Jones Jared Mitchell to
- 15:19Speaker 8: do it at that like Chris jack incredibly high level.
- 15:21Speaker 8: Then Chris Jackson kickers are people too, right, It was
- 15:25Speaker 8: starting third basement for that team, but for Chad, like
- 15:27Speaker 8: Chad Jones and Jared Mitchell, like j Mitch was a
- 15:30Speaker 8: freshman and played receiver that year and then also in
- 15:34Speaker 8: two thousand and nine into being the most outstanding player
- 15:36Speaker 8: in the College World Series. But like like Chad Jones
- 15:38Speaker 8: was a dude at like on both at safety he's playing.
- 15:44Speaker 8: Was he a freshman when he was playing with Like Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 8: so he was a freshman in OH seven with you all,
- 15:49Speaker 8: and he's like out there on a national championship team.
- 15:51Speaker 8: And then we were talking about returners yesterday in the NFL.
- 15:54Speaker 8: It was a chalsy hell. We had trendon Holiday Buster,
- 16:00Speaker 8: Davis Skyler Green, Chad Jones, Honey Badger wasn't bad at
- 16:06Speaker 8: returning either, pretty good.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Pat Pete.
- 16:15Speaker 8: They never let me. I wasn't allowed to return it.
- 16:18Speaker 8: I could catch it. I wasn't allowed if you catch
- 16:22Speaker 8: that fair.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Catch, don't you dare?
- 16:25Speaker 8: We do not need those little stubby legs trying to
- 16:27Speaker 8: return this football.
- 16:29Speaker 4: All right, But shout out to Roddy Man.
- 16:30Speaker 8: Always enjoy catching up with Roddy And great breakdown there
- 16:33Speaker 8: of Clemson, and yeah, it is what it is.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Look, they are really really good.
- 16:36Speaker 8: Their front seven is going to be, in my opinion,
- 16:39Speaker 8: the strength of the team. Now, a lot of people
- 16:41Speaker 8: are high on their receivers. I think they're talented, but
- 16:44Speaker 8: I think a lot of people are assuming they're going
- 16:46Speaker 8: to take this giant step based off that talent.
- 16:49Speaker 4: That's easier said than done.
- 16:51Speaker 8: You still got to go do that, Like I can
- 16:53Speaker 8: see it and I can get excited. But that jump
- 16:57Speaker 8: that people always talk about and always happened there's things
- 17:00Speaker 8: that you like. When you have that expectation, you got
- 17:02Speaker 8: to you got to deal with it. You got to
- 17:04Speaker 8: continue to grow, you got to continue to develop.
- 17:06Speaker 6: So and let's be honest, both teams are dealing with
- 17:09Speaker 6: a lot of expectations going into this and I know
- 17:13Speaker 6: a lot's being made of and we've talked a lot
- 17:15Speaker 6: about it here about that first game. How do you
- 17:17Speaker 6: schedule that first game we've had We all know we
- 17:20Speaker 6: got a lot of scar tissue from this opening game.
- 17:21Speaker 5: The last couple of years.
- 17:23Speaker 6: And what I'm about to say is not going to
- 17:24Speaker 6: help this any But I think this Clemson team that
- 17:27Speaker 6: we're about to face is the best team that we've
- 17:29Speaker 6: played in an opening game in the last of the
- 17:32Speaker 6: group of what we played.
- 17:33Speaker 4: That Florida State team that went undefeated.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, I was kind of skipped over that one.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Pretty good.
- 17:41Speaker 5: They're pretty good.
- 17:42Speaker 8: But to your point, this, this Clemson team has that
- 17:45Speaker 8: ability based off their schedule.
- 17:48Speaker 4: If they beat LSUDA, the.
- 17:50Speaker 6: State didn't have like the preseason expectations. I think they
- 17:53Speaker 6: I mean, they were good, they're good not to but
- 17:55Speaker 6: this is one of the high favorite three top return.
- 18:00Speaker 9: This is a true road game. Yeah, away, but it
- 18:06Speaker 9: was in Tampa.
- 18:06Speaker 4: This is not I'm agreeing with me.
- 18:08Speaker 8: I think this is the best team that you're playing
- 18:11Speaker 8: because you go back and that Mississippi State team ended
- 18:14Speaker 8: up not being that great obviously, you just you didn't
- 18:17Speaker 8: make adjustments and you let someone set an SEC record.
- 18:20Speaker 4: They got benched two weeks later at quarterback. You go
- 18:24Speaker 4: to u C. L A.
- 18:25Speaker 8: Now that UCLA team was was better than people thought.
- 18:29Speaker 8: They had, dtr quarterback, Zach charbona running back, NFL tied
- 18:33Speaker 8: end like they had some jimmies.
- 18:34Speaker 6: And Joe's still Yeah, Florida State teams solid.
- 18:40Speaker 8: USC was bad last year. US was not a good
- 18:42Speaker 8: football team, and you lost to them. So what makes
- 18:46Speaker 8: it even deeper of a cut to the gut is
- 18:51Speaker 8: the teams you've lost to for the most part have
- 18:53Speaker 8: been okay.
- 18:55Speaker 6: Except the exception would be the foidest thing. Yeah, and Taylor,
- 18:59Speaker 6: great point. I mean, this is the true road game,
- 19:02Speaker 6: absolute hostile environment.
- 19:04Speaker 9: If only had one other.
- 19:06Speaker 8: Missipi State was at home during COVID, but so it
- 19:09Speaker 8: was kind of a weird Ucla.
- 19:11Speaker 5: The like away.
- 19:14Speaker 9: Yeah, they don't give a.
- 19:15Speaker 8: As I'm saying, Ucla, you had more fans than they
- 19:17Speaker 8: had probably minus to probably.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Uh and then New Orleans, Orlando and then Vegas.
- 19:22Speaker 5: It's gonna be an sec type environment. I mean, let's
- 19:25Speaker 5: do it.
- 19:25Speaker 8: Look, you've actually had some advantages and you still haven't
- 19:28Speaker 8: gotten it done. But that's why this is as must
- 19:31Speaker 8: win as must win can possibly be. And I know
- 19:34Speaker 8: you can still make the playoff if you lose this.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Game, but you can't. You can't do that anymore.
- 19:39Speaker 8: You can't just continue to start on one and then say, okay,
- 19:43Speaker 8: let's get started. It's like when we have an opening
- 19:45Speaker 8: segment and then we get the show started, right. We
- 19:47Speaker 8: can do that here. You can't do that in real
- 19:49Speaker 8: life in football. We're gonna win the game, though, that's
- 19:52Speaker 8: a guarantee.
- 19:52Speaker 7: I definitely think it's a must win, but I don't
- 19:55Speaker 7: know how much I love putting so much stock into
- 19:57Speaker 7: it in the off season, like how oh they have
- 20:01Speaker 7: stuff that's like one in oh, in the locker room.
- 20:03Speaker 8: I understand what they're finally, because they've tried to hide
- 20:06Speaker 8: I think from that game in the past, because I'm
- 20:08Speaker 8: typically like you too, like they't make it all about
- 20:11Speaker 8: one game. I think they're trying to do something different
- 20:13Speaker 8: than they've done.
- 20:15Speaker 9: What whatever you did the last four years, don't do
- 20:18Speaker 9: it again.
- 20:18Speaker 8: Because I typically would agree with you Landra, like, don't
- 20:20Speaker 8: make it all about the opening game and focus on
- 20:23Speaker 8: this solely like one.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Part of it.
- 20:26Speaker 7: Yeah, because then if we go and lose the next game,
- 20:28Speaker 7: you put way too much stock into the opening game.
- 20:31Speaker 7: And I definitely agree that something needs to change and
- 20:34Speaker 7: we do need to win this opening game. But to me,
- 20:38Speaker 7: it feels like a lot of times when the way
- 20:42Speaker 7: Brian Kelly moves, I feel like he pays attention to
- 20:47Speaker 7: the outside noise a little too much, like he's like, Okay,
- 20:50Speaker 7: everybody's saying we need and one hundred percent you need
- 20:52Speaker 7: to win the opening game. I don't know if I
- 20:55Speaker 7: love making making the offseason all about it.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Yeah, the.
- 21:03Speaker 6: You kind of have to take a different approach to
- 21:06Speaker 6: something if some's not working. Is there mathematically there shouldn't be,
- 21:10Speaker 6: but I know how like the COVID year, there was
- 21:12Speaker 6: some extra eligibility. But is there someone on the roster
- 21:15Speaker 6: that has won an opening game?
- 21:17Speaker 4: No, Josh Williams I think was the last one.
- 21:20Speaker 9: Yeah, Josh, nobody l roster that knows what it's like
- 21:24Speaker 9: to when now. I mean I can't speak for all
- 21:27Speaker 9: the transfers.
- 21:27Speaker 5: We have to go back.
- 21:30Speaker 8: Yeah to your point, like an l uniform. Yeah no,
- 21:33Speaker 8: that's wild. That is not wild behavior.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Wild behavior. Come on, boys, all right, we.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Got to take it break. Let's take it now more
- 21:39Speaker 4: OTV when we come back one O four five ESPN
- 21:42Speaker 4: batrooms off the bench.
- 21:45Speaker 8: All right, Go to get Gordon dot com, Gordon McKinney

- 22:15Speaker 8: they do for me? You can see past client results

- 22:50Speaker 5: J Just stand there all alone.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Oh, I cannot explain where's going there?
- 22:58Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown LSU football
- 23:02Speaker 1: like only champions can.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Some you sign?
- 23:10Speaker 6: Look who.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Can see Cleary?
- 23:16Speaker 5: All right?
- 23:17Speaker 4: Welcome back again, uh Elandra.
- 23:19Speaker 8: I do want to hear your thoughts on why you
- 23:23Speaker 8: don't want to make it because I'm I'm in a
- 23:26Speaker 8: bad habit right now of just being like whatever you did,
- 23:28Speaker 8: just do the opposite, Go win a game, go find
- 23:31Speaker 8: a way.
- 23:32Speaker 4: But I do want to hear your point on why
- 23:33Speaker 4: you don't like the one.
- 23:34Speaker 7: And oh around in the lockerow so like I don't
- 23:36Speaker 7: disagree with that, like obviously what you've been doing the
- 23:39Speaker 7: last few years is not working because you've lost every
- 23:41Speaker 7: single opening game. Like I I agree and I understand
- 23:44Speaker 7: with what you are saying, but to like for me,
- 23:49Speaker 7: if you're already unprepared without doing all that extra stuff
- 23:52Speaker 7: of like one and oh start one and oh, like
- 23:54Speaker 7: and putting so much stock into the opening game, that's
- 23:57Speaker 7: already a bigger issue than like having to focus on
- 24:02Speaker 7: one game specifically, Like you need to be prepared for
- 24:05Speaker 7: the entire season, not just the opening game. And then
- 24:09Speaker 7: I feel like you also set yourself for even more
- 24:12Speaker 7: disappointment if you go out there and you end up
- 24:14Speaker 7: losing the opening game again and you have one to
- 24:17Speaker 7: zero all over the building and you're talking to your team, Yeah,
- 24:21Speaker 7: and you're talking to your team and like putting so
- 24:24Speaker 7: much stock into it. Yeah, like you're setting yourself for
- 24:27Speaker 7: even bigger disappointment. But then say, like, okay, it works,
- 24:30Speaker 7: you win game one, and then the rest of the
- 24:33Speaker 7: season it's kind of mediocre, you fall off or whatever.
- 24:35Speaker 7: I just think that there's like a lot of different
- 24:37Speaker 7: possibilities and I just don't love focusing on like one game, right,
- 24:43Speaker 7: You're putting so much stock into it, and like sure,
- 24:46Speaker 7: I'm sure he's like focusing on the rest of the
- 24:48Speaker 7: season and stuff like that, but like I just personally
- 24:51Speaker 7: don't like it. And I don't think that your issue
- 24:55Speaker 7: is not talking about the opening game.
- 25:00Speaker 8: No, I know what you're saying about the Yeah, for sure,
- 25:04Speaker 8: And I get it's a good point. And if you
- 25:06Speaker 8: do start ohing one, I want to no messages across
- 25:10Speaker 8: the locker like oh what do we do with these?
- 25:12Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 25:13Speaker 6: Now?
- 25:14Speaker 8: And I think what you're trying to say and if
- 25:15Speaker 8: I'm if I'm wrong here, just tell me. But it
- 25:18Speaker 8: feels like you're saying kind of like what a lot
- 25:20Speaker 8: of us are thinking about this game, like be more prepared. Yeah,
- 25:26Speaker 8: just be prepared, like because you're supposed to be just
- 25:28Speaker 8: be prepared for the first game.
- 25:30Speaker 7: Don't have to worry about it, right, Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Do what you would do to get ready for the season,
- 25:34Speaker 4: you know.
- 25:35Speaker 6: Yeah, but there's always focal points in the off season,
- 25:38Speaker 6: so you got to be able to focus focus onthing.
- 25:41Speaker 6: It's like, you know, putting when Rocky puts von Drago's
- 25:45Speaker 6: picture on his mirror, right, Like you got to be
- 25:46Speaker 6: able to like like yeah, but to your point, Like
- 25:53Speaker 6: most off season, it was like, you know, week one
- 25:55Speaker 6: of summer training, we're gonna get you know, this is
- 25:58Speaker 6: we're gonna focus on. We're gonna beat Auburn the week
- 26:00Speaker 6: next week, we're gonna be Florida this week, Yeah, next week.
- 26:02Speaker 6: You know, every season was a little bit different, but but.
- 26:07Speaker 7: Like week by week, okay, fine, like.
- 26:10Speaker 9: Game one does make it a little different, just like
- 26:12Speaker 9: you get like to your point, like like I'm with
- 26:14Speaker 9: you one hundred percent because like me and Lander have
- 26:16Speaker 9: talked about it before.
- 26:17Speaker 4: If like I'm falling back into Elandra thinking here, well.
- 26:21Speaker 9: We and her have always talked about it. Like lu
- 26:23Speaker 9: puts way more stuff, way too much stock in the
- 26:24Speaker 9: Alabama game every single week. The only thing I'm looking
- 26:28Speaker 9: at is, yes, this team is grossly underprepared every single year. Like, look,
- 26:33Speaker 9: I'm not here to bash anybody. Brian Kelly knows more
- 26:35Speaker 9: about football than I ever will. I mean, we we
- 26:38Speaker 9: came in here, like Jake, I went to what two
- 26:40Speaker 9: practices like, oh dude, though line wasn't able to block anything.
- 26:43Speaker 9: Kelly gets up there, Will Campbell gets up there. Gods,
- 26:45Speaker 9: we're gonna dominate people in the offensive line. Ah, no,
- 26:47Speaker 9: the hell, you're not. What happened game one two years ago,
- 26:51Speaker 9: Mason Smith. Kelly goes up there. We expect big things
- 26:54Speaker 9: from Mason Smith. T Bough goes Taylor else Mason Smith
- 26:57Speaker 9: looking like it's hard to tell he takes off every
- 26:58Speaker 9: other play because he's still injured. What happened, Mason Smith
- 27:01Speaker 9: was a shell of himself, Like, you gotta know your
- 27:03Speaker 9: team better. Whatever you did in the past, don't do it.
- 27:06Speaker 9: That is the only reason I'm okay with it, because
- 27:08Speaker 9: you've been awful and like if this was game, if
- 27:11Speaker 9: this was week nine, yes, sure it's just another game,
- 27:14Speaker 9: but like you're oh and five, you have to do
- 27:17Speaker 9: something different. Like that is the only reason I'm good
- 27:19Speaker 9: with it, because you're gonna show up and embarrass yourself
- 27:21Speaker 9: again on national TV and that takes that deflates everything.
- 27:24Speaker 9: Like to her point about you don't want to have
- 27:26Speaker 9: too much build up in the opening game because when
- 27:28Speaker 9: you lose like you have the last five years, you're deflated.
- 27:32Speaker 9: There was so much build up for.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Game one I have never heard.
- 27:41Speaker 8: I have never dreaded doing a sports radio show more
- 27:47Speaker 8: than Las Vegas last year after losing another opener. It
- 27:51Speaker 8: was early as hell because we were on mountain time,
- 27:54Speaker 8: the game was late. I was like, I don't want
- 27:58Speaker 8: to go do that. I want to fake sick.
- 28:01Speaker 7: Vegas is terrible, But that's what I'm saying, Like, imagine
- 28:04Speaker 7: how disappointing. It's gonna be if you lose game one
- 28:07Speaker 7: versus cleansingin I do want to know in the locker room,
- 28:12Speaker 7: and I do like understand that you can definitely like, Okay,
- 28:15Speaker 7: this is week one, We're gonna focus on this whatever,
- 28:18Speaker 7: and then you can go to week two and focus
- 28:20Speaker 7: on law tech. I get that, but it just feels
- 28:23Speaker 7: like too much to me personally. So I do like
- 28:29Speaker 7: I get Taylor's points.
- 28:30Speaker 8: Well, no, I kind of agree with a little bit
- 28:31Speaker 8: of everything because I do like, Okay, hey man, we
- 28:34Speaker 8: look we got a Power four opponent like Rod the Gates, Like,
- 28:37Speaker 8: we ain't got time to half step into this off season,
- 28:39Speaker 8: and that'd be your point of focus, like we got
- 28:41Speaker 8: to hit the ground running. And but also like when
- 28:44Speaker 8: we were playing at Elis, she was like when we
- 28:47Speaker 8: were getting run into the dirt in the off season,
- 28:50Speaker 8: it was to callous ourselves for the entire season, right,
- 28:54Speaker 8: we were training to be LSU Tigers. As cheesy as
- 28:57Speaker 8: that sounds, that was the standard, Like we are training
- 29:01Speaker 8: to be what we know we always have been here
- 29:04Speaker 8: and that's how maffittt trained us in the off season.
- 29:06Speaker 8: It's what the coaches kind of did even though they
- 29:08Speaker 8: weren't supposed to be there, they were there, Like that's
- 29:10Speaker 8: what we trained to be the Elstree Tigers, not for
- 29:14Speaker 8: one singular game. So I do get a little bit
- 29:16Speaker 8: of both points. But also we didn't lose five openers
- 29:18Speaker 8: in a row.
- 29:19Speaker 9: So and then like the thing is, like y'all talked
- 29:21Speaker 9: about this last week and everybody brings it up about oh, well,
- 29:25Speaker 9: who do you do you want an easy game in
- 29:26Speaker 9: the open or do you want a tough game in
- 29:28Speaker 9: the opener? Like if you don't want to put too
- 29:30Speaker 9: much focus on everything, Like yeah, but like you got
- 29:33Speaker 9: a big opponent in the opener, change change that a
- 29:36Speaker 9: little bit if you need to as well, Like whatever,
- 29:37Speaker 9: whatever you need to do. What's the's got to be different.
- 29:40Speaker 9: The football messaging throughout a season is don't look ahead.
- 29:46Speaker 9: It's the most important game is the next game, right,
- 29:49Speaker 9: and whether whatever your record is, if you're five and two,
- 29:52Speaker 9: it's let's become six and two, right.
- 29:55Speaker 6: That's all. That's that, that's the messaging. The most important
- 29:57Speaker 6: game is the next one. I'd get an off season
- 29:59Speaker 6: a little bit differ because it's the next game for
- 30:01Speaker 6: like six months.
- 30:07Speaker 5: There's no one way to do it. Yeah, you have
- 30:09Speaker 5: to trust your team. You gotta know your team.
- 30:11Speaker 6: You gotta know what what drives them, you gotta know
- 30:13Speaker 6: what motivates them.
- 30:14Speaker 5: You gotta know what I.
- 30:15Speaker 8: Want to know that I want to know the team
- 30:18Speaker 8: from the first quarter of the first game. I'm not
- 30:20Speaker 8: saying you're going to know like everything about him, but
- 30:24Speaker 8: that that's one of the things that I think has
- 30:26Speaker 8: gotten you in trouble a little bit is as you
- 30:28Speaker 8: go into that game, you're.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Still trying to figure things out.
- 30:31Speaker 8: Like Garrett Dellinger plays center in the first game a
- 30:34Speaker 8: couple of years ago against Flories State. That was the
- 30:36Speaker 8: only game he played center. The next week he played
- 30:38Speaker 8: guard and Charles Turner came in at center for the rest.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Of the year.
- 30:41Speaker 9: Think about how many times you change secondaries the last
- 30:44Speaker 9: two years. Like and like people can get pissed or whatever.
- 30:46Speaker 9: Brian Kelly hasn't known this team in week one since
- 30:49Speaker 9: he's been here.
- 30:49Speaker 5: He hasn't. Let's not get this twisted.
- 30:52Speaker 6: They're not walking into the facility right now, and they
- 30:55Speaker 6: got coaches screening Clemson at him right now. But just like,
- 31:00Speaker 6: just like you said, the off season in the summer
- 31:03Speaker 6: is to callous the individual for an entire season, to
- 31:07Speaker 6: harden the individual, to get him ready for an entire season,
- 31:10Speaker 6: from a health standpoint, from a physical physicality standpoint, middle standpoint.
- 31:14Speaker 6: They'll get to the game. They're not game planning Clemson
- 31:18Speaker 6: right now. But in order to put somebody through physically
- 31:22Speaker 6: and mentally, emotionally, what you get put through during an
- 31:26Speaker 6: off season, from the training to summer workouts, being in
- 31:29Speaker 6: the heat. If you want to get the most out
- 31:31Speaker 6: of somebody, you have to give them a motivator, and
- 31:35Speaker 6: Clemson is a hell of a motivator to make you
- 31:37Speaker 6: work hard, too hard in yourself, to callous yourself.
- 31:41Speaker 5: If you don't have that.
- 31:42Speaker 6: If they don't put something a shiny object in front
- 31:44Speaker 6: of you and say this is what we're doing it for,
- 31:47Speaker 6: then there is a subconscious effort that's not being put in.
- 31:52Speaker 6: So like if that is what it is. If you
- 31:53Speaker 6: have a smaller team that you're playing, playing the first game,
- 31:56Speaker 6: you look at something else, you look at Alabama, you
- 31:59Speaker 6: look at you pay a picture, whatever picture you paint.
- 32:02Speaker 6: For those guys, it's emostly what you want to get
- 32:04Speaker 6: out of them. So if you want to get the
- 32:05Speaker 6: most physically out of somebody. You give them something to
- 32:07Speaker 6: look at.
- 32:07Speaker 4: I will say this too. I know we got to
- 32:09Speaker 4: take a break.
- 32:10Speaker 7: I'm somewhere in the middle.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we're switching.
- 32:12Speaker 7: Yeah no, y'all, y'all have me somewhere in the middle
- 32:14Speaker 7: right now.
- 32:15Speaker 8: So, uh, you know Taylor about not you know, not
- 32:17Speaker 8: knowing the team. You can certainly make that argument, but
- 32:21Speaker 8: also go make a damn play like usc the receiver.
- 32:26Speaker 8: Remember the play last year. He goes up, he's double covered,
- 32:28Speaker 8: he goes up, one hand, brings the ball down. You
- 32:30Speaker 8: know you didn't do you didn't defend that, or you
- 32:33Speaker 8: didn't defend it, didn't defend it, you did it like
- 32:35Speaker 8: your guys didn't go make that play. So like, sure,
- 32:38Speaker 8: I agree with you, Like there's got to you got
- 32:39Speaker 8: to know your team heading into week one and all that.
- 32:42Speaker 4: But there's been plays to be made in these games.
- 32:45Speaker 8: Like go back to the second Florida State game, right,
- 32:48Speaker 8: you drive the ball right down there, you get to
- 32:50Speaker 8: the goal line. First series, it looks like you're about
- 32:52Speaker 8: to go run them out of the building.
- 32:53Speaker 4: What do you do? You don't score? Yeah, Like that's
- 32:57Speaker 4: like you got to.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Build a better team for five years.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Yeah, the players got to go make some plays.
- 33:01Speaker 9: Too well, and like to your point, Matt, like maybe
- 33:04Speaker 9: maybe that's why you need to focus, right, maybe they
- 33:06Speaker 9: maybe they weren't enough in the past. And then like
- 33:09Speaker 9: you were talking, okay, we'll focus on the next game.
- 33:12Speaker 9: This is the next game, says it, like, go get
- 33:14Speaker 9: it all.
- 33:14Speaker 8: Right, we'll take great more OTB when we come back
- 33:16Speaker 8: here one O four five ESPN Ben route off the bench,

- 34:44Speaker 8: I was gonna ask you since we are, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 8: obviously superior when it comes to music here on the show.
- 34:52Speaker 4: And then we have Apple Music. Yeah, did you get
- 34:54Speaker 4: your ten year playlist?
- 34:57Speaker 3: No?
- 34:58Speaker 7: So how do I do this?
- 34:59Speaker 8: It should actually if you go to your Apple Music.
- 35:01Speaker 8: Mine just popped up. So I was trying to listen
- 35:03Speaker 8: to some music the other day and when I went
- 35:06Speaker 8: to the app, it's like, hey, happy ten year anniversary,
- 35:09Speaker 8: Apple Music. Here's the you know, thirty songs over the
- 35:13Speaker 8: last ten years that you've played the best on your phone.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Cool.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Oh it was incredible. I was like, I've listened to
- 35:22Speaker 4: that the most.
- 35:23Speaker 8: It was like some because we yeah, mine's probably gonna
- 35:25Speaker 8: be some as a family.
- 35:26Speaker 4: We do share, you know, the Apple music. So there
- 35:29Speaker 4: was some on there, but it was mostly bangers.
- 35:33Speaker 7: Oh wait, hold on, I think I found it all
- 35:35Speaker 7: time replay.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, okay, all right, you're welcome.
- 35:39Speaker 7: Thank you. I'm excited for this.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 7: Number one.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Not a girl.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Oh.
- 35:48Speaker 7: I think it's because it's the first one, you know,
- 35:49Speaker 7: like when you connect to your car, like the first
- 35:52Speaker 7: song on your.
- 35:53Speaker 8: Oh my gosh, yeah, yeah, gosh. What's the name of
- 35:58Speaker 8: that song at sheer in eighteen eighteen that used to
- 36:02Speaker 8: be and so like that song is pretty good, but
- 36:05Speaker 8: like by the end of them, like.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Eighteen by year and one more time, Yeah, because.
- 36:09Speaker 5: You're gonna get it to your point in order.
- 36:11Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a lot of stp on here. Yeah, I
- 36:15Speaker 7: speaking of a lot of Selena on here.
- 36:19Speaker 4: That's see, it's fun, right.
- 36:21Speaker 7: Yeah. Do you also know who's I know who?
- 36:26Speaker 5: She was on Disney Channel?
- 36:28Speaker 4: Wait, what was yours?
- 36:31Speaker 7: Well? T Bob really didn't know play Selena in the movie,
- 36:35Speaker 7: and he didn't even know that.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Hey five, I'll have five.
- 36:38Speaker 7: There's not.
- 36:41Speaker 9: Of course, if it wasn't for that movie, I'd have
- 36:43Speaker 9: no idea.
- 36:44Speaker 5: Yeah, but I mean the song that movie probably came
- 36:46Speaker 5: out before you were.
- 36:48Speaker 7: So we had to watch it in English or the
- 36:49Speaker 7: Spanish because we watched well.
- 36:52Speaker 9: We watched it in our Spanish class in school. Spanish
- 36:57Speaker 9: anything for CEL two Spanish is in high school for
- 37:00Speaker 9: in college.
- 37:03Speaker 4: It should have been better at football.
- 37:06Speaker 6: I was a communication study for a little while at
- 37:09Speaker 6: LSU and dropting because I had.
- 37:10Speaker 5: To take a foreign language.
- 37:13Speaker 7: It out?
- 37:14Speaker 5: Did you?
- 37:14Speaker 4: I was?
- 37:15Speaker 5: I was a how'd you do that?
- 37:18Speaker 7: I tested out that they gave me enough credits to
- 37:22Speaker 7: minor in it.
- 37:23Speaker 9: We shouldn't have had to have taken English classes.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I bet that.
- 37:29Speaker 6: When I was in high school, I was we had
- 37:32Speaker 6: to take Spanish classes like Spanish one and two. And
- 37:34Speaker 6: there was people in our class that were like from
- 37:39Speaker 6: Mexico that spoke it fluently English with their secon language.
- 37:41Speaker 5: They were in that class, and of course they got
- 37:44Speaker 5: an A.
- 37:44Speaker 6: And so I made there argue about senior year, like
- 37:46Speaker 6: let me take e s L which is English for
- 37:51Speaker 6: the second language.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Was like, let me take that so I can get
- 37:53Speaker 5: it like the.
- 37:55Speaker 9: Same, right, I mean, I agree, right, yeah, how are
- 37:58Speaker 9: you allowed to take that?
- 37:59Speaker 7: As your no, are well like the kids that they
- 38:02Speaker 7: still had to learn English and you still have to
- 38:05Speaker 7: learn Spanish, Like there's still you still have to learn
- 38:08Speaker 7: two languages. I just knew both already.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Wasn't fair.
- 38:13Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Are both your your parents can both?
- 38:15Speaker 7: Yeah? My mom so like both my parents speak Spanish.
- 38:20Speaker 8: I think I think being able to learn second language
- 38:24Speaker 8: is like one of the biggest flexes you can have,
- 38:27Speaker 8: like you're fluent two languages.
- 38:28Speaker 7: To me, like we were in Omaha and I felt
- 38:32Speaker 7: so bad because our uber driver couldn't speak English, like
- 38:35Speaker 7: he only spoke Spanish. And sometimes I get like embarrassed
- 38:38Speaker 7: whenever I started speaking Spanish, but like I felt so
- 38:41Speaker 7: bad for him that I just started talking.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Yeah, gosh, I think that is, like, like I said,
- 38:45Speaker 4: the ultimate flex.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 5: And most people around the world can do it except.
- 38:48Speaker 8: For Americans, no, I know, like whenever like an American
- 38:52Speaker 8: goes over and they play in uh, you know, the
- 38:54Speaker 8: Bundesliga or La League or whatever, like they learned that language,
- 38:58Speaker 8: and I'm like, man, that is it's easy.
- 39:00Speaker 4: It's right there, like do it because they have to
- 39:02Speaker 4: do it.
- 39:02Speaker 8: If you want to make life easy for you, you
- 39:04Speaker 8: learn German or you learn Italian.
- 39:06Speaker 4: Whatever it might be. There all close together, English and Rednecks.
- 39:11Speaker 6: Speaking of English people and music. We brought up Bittersweet
- 39:16Speaker 6: Symphony earlier. Yeah, we did a little research.
- 39:18Speaker 9: Oh yeah, the song.
- 39:19Speaker 5: The song came out in nineteen ninety seven. Soon after
- 39:21Speaker 5: its release.
- 39:23Speaker 6: There was a manager for the Rolling Stones, Alan Klein.
- 39:27Speaker 6: They thought that it sounded like an old Rollingstone song
- 39:30Speaker 6: called the Last Time, so they originally sued, saying that
- 39:36Speaker 6: it like exceeded the licensing blah blah blah. They shoot
- 39:38Speaker 6: in exchange for fifty percent of the royalty split, but
- 39:42Speaker 6: like soon after that they were like, nah, that's not
- 39:44Speaker 6: even good enough. We're gonna sue again, and they took
- 39:47Speaker 6: all royalties so bitter the verve never made any royalties
- 39:52Speaker 6: for like twenty years on that song that they created
- 39:55Speaker 6: it right, for twenty years. But after Alan Klein, I
- 39:57Speaker 6: think he passed away in seventeen or nine teen. Uh,
- 40:02Speaker 6: Keith Richards Make they all gave back.
- 40:04Speaker 5: Okay, I gave the rights of the verb.
- 40:08Speaker 4: I mean, hey, rolling Stone, Okay.
- 40:10Speaker 7: This is the song. They saved.
- 40:22Speaker 8: Every single song, Like when it comes on the radio today,
- 40:24Speaker 8: it's like, oh.
- 40:25Speaker 5: There's only so many in stands. Right, there's only so
- 40:27Speaker 5: many notes out there, Yeah, so many.
- 40:30Speaker 9: All the pro moved by klein Man, pro move. That's
- 40:33Speaker 9: a pro move.
- 40:34Speaker 4: I will your I will say that's one about that guy.
- 40:37Speaker 8: One of my favorite things is like when a song
- 40:39Speaker 8: starts and somebody thinks it's the new song. Yeah, it's
- 40:42Speaker 8: like no, no, no, this is like the original version that
- 40:44Speaker 8: came out twenty years ago that they sampled.
- 40:46Speaker 5: All right, those dang selfish Brits.
- 40:50Speaker 6: That's why we declared our independence birthday.
- 40:54Speaker 7: Marcas, You're fired.
- 40:58Speaker 4: This is I mean the Rolling Stones, Rolling Stones. This
- 41:02Speaker 4: is a better song.
- 41:03Speaker 7: This is a this is a great song. I don't
- 41:06Speaker 7: really listen to the Rolling Stones all that much.
- 41:09Speaker 6: I do, but not like a lot of Right, this
- 41:11Speaker 6: song dumps on the last time by the Rollings.
- 41:14Speaker 5: Yes, well maybe not every rolling Stone song.
- 41:17Speaker 4: But all right, let's do this.
- 41:18Speaker 8: We'll take a break and when we come back, we're
- 41:21Speaker 8: coming back with that song so we can hear it

- 43:13Speaker 8: I've been actually, yeah, I've been thinking about switching from
- 43:18Speaker 8: Spotify to Apple Music.
- 43:20Speaker 4: What are your reasons for why I should switch too.
- 43:24Speaker 4: I love music.
- 43:25Speaker 8: It's easy to make a playlist, it's easy to search
- 43:27Speaker 8: a song.
- 43:28Speaker 4: It's just it's right.
- 43:29Speaker 8: It's it's a it's an app on the iPhone, and
- 43:32Speaker 8: the iPhone is going to do whatever they have to
- 43:34Speaker 8: do to make it easy for me.
- 43:35Speaker 9: That's actually a really good shuffle.
- 43:38Speaker 7: I feel like is better than the Spotify one too.
- 43:40Speaker 8: In the playlist it comes up with for me, Like
- 43:42Speaker 8: it just automatically does it all the time, Like, hey,
- 43:44Speaker 8: you've been listening to this genre over the last couple
- 43:46Speaker 8: of months.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Yeah, try this out Spotify.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Spotify like not great for a family account.
- 43:52Speaker 6: You know, every platform like Netflix, Disney, Like you turn
- 43:56Speaker 6: it on and you can click what person's using it.
- 43:58Speaker 6: Not here you have to like create emails for your
- 44:00Speaker 6: kids and sign them up.
- 44:02Speaker 7: So you can. On Apple, you can have the family one,
- 44:06Speaker 7: but each person has their own Apple Music.
- 44:09Speaker 9: That's it's like a little bit.
- 44:10Speaker 7: So that would be my biggest argument for Spotify.
- 44:12Speaker 5: It's hard to do it.
- 44:13Speaker 7: Like the interfaces, it's so user friendly. I find spot Yes,
- 44:17Speaker 7: I find that Spotify has too much stuff and I
- 44:20Speaker 7: get overwhelmed with it, Like I'm like, what what are
- 44:23Speaker 7: we doing?
- 44:23Speaker 6: So I like this question, ask the bench. Favorite movie
- 44:27Speaker 6: that takes place in the summer.
- 44:29Speaker 7: Sand Lot is so good?
- 44:34Speaker 9: I mean American American?

- 44:39Speaker 4: Very four Actually I might, I might watch Sandlot. Yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 5: Independence Day that happened in the summer.

- 44:51Speaker 6: four hours this week.
- 44:53Speaker 9: It's gonna be on a lot. It shouldn't be on
- 44:55Speaker 9: a lot. Independence, Today's borderline, Christmas Story now on fourth
- 44:59Speaker 9: of July.
- 45:00Speaker 5: It plays like, oh for sure, Uh there was.
- 45:03Speaker 4: There was a movie that came out in the late eighties.
- 45:05Speaker 8: It was called Summer School, and it is like just
- 45:09Speaker 8: peak eighties movie, like every eighties thing you can think of,
- 45:14Speaker 8: like what you're thinking of, like stereotypical eighties movie comedy
- 45:18Speaker 8: is that And it is awesome. I watch it at
- 45:21Speaker 8: least once every year. I promise you you'll like it.
- 45:24Speaker 8: You'll find it. There'll be some nostalgia there.
- 45:26Speaker 4: It's funny. Summer School.
- 45:27Speaker 5: Check it out.
- 45:28Speaker 6: Any kind of camp movie like Camp Nowhere, Heavyweights, like
- 45:31Speaker 6: anything that Happened, Yeah, everything that happened summer camps.
- 45:34Speaker 5: Heavyweights probably, I.
- 45:35Speaker 8: Mean, get on scale, get off the scales, so good,
- 45:41Speaker 8: real quick. We got one more ass. Do you say
- 45:44Speaker 8: snowball or snow cone?
- 45:49Speaker 4: Snow cone?
- 45:51Speaker 5: It comes to the snow cone.
- 45:53Speaker 8: That's right, snow coat off the bench. I'd like that
- 45:57Speaker 8: we all agreed on that because I fight that good
- 45:59Speaker 8: fight all the time.
- 46:02Speaker 5: Yeah, but the wrong answer, it's the wrong answer, Bud.
- 46:06Speaker 7: Wait one to Yep, you're right there, we go.
- 46:10Speaker 8: I enjoy a snow cone, but I really enjoy multiple
- 46:14Speaker 8: dose skis.
- 46:14Speaker 5: You put that on the snow cone just.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Turns into a slush beer. Whatever, it's still gonna be
- 46:20Speaker 4: delicious right now. Fourth of July coming up.
- 46:23Speaker 8: I mean, you're gonna be out by the pool, you're
- 46:25Speaker 8: gonna be at the beach, You're gonna be by the grill.
- 46:27Speaker 8: Go ahead and go for a dose and grab a
- 46:29Speaker 8: couple of ice cold dose sekis to enjoy the downtime.

- 46:52Speaker 5: Go for dough
