- 0:00We weren't talking about it, and then I realized that I don't want to be the same person I was.
- 0:05It's really like coming into your own, and we're like, this is who I am.
- 0:21Welcome to Tonitown Podcast.
- 0:25Hey, we are here on set in Palm Springs, California, back there.
- 0:30You may hear. We've got some tone-up trainers doing workouts coming out for the summer challenge,
- 0:36and we're just sitting down answering your messages. So if you didn't know already, and now you will,
- 0:43go to KarinaDawn.com slash message, and you can leave a voicemail where we can play it live
- 0:50on the pod and answer your questions. Yay!
- 0:53And we can do that for anything for Tonitown Podcast or the big silence podcast.
- 0:58So how are we? Oh, I was just going to say how are we feeling, and Ari's in the background saying,
- 1:04how are we feeling? Sarah and Dipettus. I know. It's a good word, guys.
- 1:09I know. You got to see maybe in like B-roll on YouTube. We'll show you some of the workouts we're doing
- 1:14the past two days here. Let's just say this isn't going to be an easy program.
- 1:19A lot of you said you're scared in the comments. Really?
- 1:22Don't be scared. Embrace it. You should be scared. You should be scared. Okay.
- 1:28So let's dive in. We're going to answer like five questions today.
- 1:32Amazing. Let's go with Melissa. Melissa.
- 1:38I turn it up. This is Mel. I have been part of the Tonitown community for many years,
- 1:45probably over a decade now, and you have supported me through all my seasons.
- 1:49I have loved this app. I do miss seeing your face, Kareena, and I remember I'm here.
- 1:57I'm loving Tonbadi Tonbine. Would you ever bring back a Tonbadi Tonbine 3.0?
- 2:04I'm also a fan of yoga Pilates along with cycles syncing and managing my energy through workouts.
- 2:14Can you bring on a program where some workouts that combine all of these three elements?
- 2:21I love that. And yes. So cycle syncing, there is in your Tonitown app. There are workouts for your
- 2:29cycle. Tonbadi Tonbine, I've been talking to you about that and doing a 3.0. But there is 1.0
- 2:38in the app. And of course, like any of the programs and workouts you can do any time.
- 2:44We have new workouts every week in the app as well. And actually, this comes out. Oh,
- 2:50the Christina's new program. Yeah. It came out yesterday. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:55And if you want hard and tense, she is like your tabata queen. She's here too, filming for
- 3:00summer. It's called Activate and Ignite. And that's exactly what you're going to do.
- 3:05Yeah. Activate it all. Ignite it all. It's spicy. We were doing the programming for that. And I was
- 3:11like, dang, this is for the ladies who are like, I want something more intense. And oh, that's
- 3:17the other thing in the app too. You can actually go in the app and you can do beginner
- 3:23intermediate advanced and choose like whatever mood you are in for that day, like what kind of
- 3:29effort you want. You can choose a workout from that as well. Melissa, you're putting me on
- 3:36on point. Okay. I guess I'm going to do it. Yeah. It's too much. You glow, girl.
- 3:42Okay. Let's go with Emma. Thank you, Karina and the two that don't you just want to say thank
- 3:51you for coming back and for everything you've done over the years. I think I found you around
- 3:5725, 24 and it was a friend who introduced me to you and it really ushered in over the next decade
- 4:06of my life learning how to be fit, falling in love with the gym and homework outs and
- 4:13meal prep, all the things I learned it all from toned up. So thank you for that. Thank you for
- 4:19creating it. I'm not in my 20s anymore. I'm closer to 40. It's been really hard to let go of
- 4:29I guess the 20 year old version of my body and the changes that are happening that feel
- 4:36out of my control, like no matter how hard I work out, there are going to be wrinkles and there
- 4:42are going to be things change. So I would love to hear from you how you've handled that especially
- 4:48in the spotlight and how to I guess love this newer older version of my body and how you've
- 4:57navigated that for yourself. Thank you. Emma, Emma, I feel you, I've been pretty open about like
- 5:06my own like perimenopause, been a pause. No clue what was going on put on like 40 pounds and
- 5:14what the hell is happening to my body. And then I realized it, we weren't talking about it.
- 5:21Des over here is like the younger generation, but also going through so many hormones too.
- 5:28And then there's the question of like being in the public eye. And I think a lot of people who are
- 5:33in the public eye go through a lot of that and judgment and this and that, but I've had to work
- 5:39really hard to navigate around that and just be me. And all of the seasons that I'm in in life
- 5:48and my seasons of loving to work out and then hating it. And then wondering what's going on with
- 5:55my body and the different hormones and understanding all of my cycles. Actually, there's going to be
- 6:02a really good conversation next week that China is doing her own song. Yes. She's about to film it
- 6:09here on set. She's so nervous, but it's really like coming into your own. And this is who I am.
- 6:15I'm no expert in life. I'm no higher power. It's just we're all navigating life together in the
- 6:23present moment. And I think that's really important to give yourself grace of all of the changes
- 6:28that we do physically, emotionally through fitness. But I will say the one thing that keeps you
- 6:35grounded is always come back to fitness and getting those adorfins from moving your body
- 6:42period. It really does work. That's all I gotta say Emma. That's all I gotta say. Did I miss anything
- 6:48there? No, I honestly just piggybacking off of what you said. I don't even think it matters,
- 6:54you know, what stage in life you are, but really every like five to 10 years you go through these
- 7:00changes whether it's hormone changes as a teenager early 20s heading into 30s like it's just so
- 7:06many changes to navigate. And I think it's just about kind of like embracing that change is going
- 7:10to happen and figuring out how to like go back to your toolkit and the basics and what makes you
- 7:16feel good and just kind of figure out how to roll with the waves because we're not gonna
- 7:20all just stay the same for our whole lives. We're going to go through changes and how can we
- 7:23support ourselves in the best way and just embrace them instead of look at it like changes
- 7:27negative it's it's a sign of evolving and growing and it's not ensuring. Interesting though
- 7:33for those two or like oh you've changed oh you've done this and like I don't want to be the same
- 7:39person I want to celebrate the change like that's means you're not staying in the same space. We
- 7:44should all grow and mature each other with each other and so much so much I can say there. I feel
- 7:50that's such a good topic and we can go on and on Emma we won't dedicate upon to you and don't
- 7:57find all the voices in the background Bobby just got back from camping in idle wild. Hi Bobby
- 8:02and he is loud and clear. He's about to do another workout in the background. Woo I love being
- 8:09alive on set. I know it's so fun. Turn it up and then doing a podcast too. Look at that
- 8:14okay let's see here. Let's go to Marie. Hey Karina. I really love the episode where you and
- 8:24Diz were talking about how there would be more conversations about menopause, pregnant
- 8:28apause and hormones and Diz opened up about her cycle I think it can be really hard and confusing
- 8:35as a woman to get good advice around all of those issues and changing bodies and how it affects
- 8:43your mood, your workout, your pain, tolerance and even just taking care of your family.
- 8:50I'd love to hear more and can't wait to see what you guys are doing thanks so much
- 8:56for opening up both these great conversations for women. Thank you Marie. I feel like I've become
- 9:02like the poster child for Barry menopause and menopause. Well it shows how many people are going
- 9:09through the same thing we're literally just we all deal with it and it's not talked about
- 9:15enough in your opening the conversation and it's a beautiful thing so embrace it you're doing the
- 9:19work. Doing the Lord's work. So that's really interesting because you've talked about it to
- 9:25in your own cycles and you introduced me to an app natural cycles. Yeah but I'm wearing
- 9:34yes. I feel like that's their newest you know addition their natural cycles. I have to open
- 9:41the app and I love this because I literally didn't realize how normal it was to feel all these
- 9:49things. You do a questionnaire daily check in. I'll do more on stories so it's not part of this
- 9:54podcast but I clicked on yes hot flashes nights with her palpitations. Oh my god you have no clue.
- 10:01I thought I was dying so many nights but I didn't realize I was in person. Yeah joint pain.
- 10:08So Marie mentioned pain. I was like oh my gosh so like this like joint pain is part of it
- 10:15and Somnia oh my gosh in Somnia we need a hold podcast on that. I need to have a sleep doctor on
- 10:23fatigue always brain fog girls. So basically it asks you to check in and kind of like log symptoms.
- 10:30And like every day you can like check in and then when you first download the app and frequent
- 10:36urination. Sorry Bobby he gets so mad when I wake up at like 1 a.m. because I have to pee. I'm like
- 10:43dude nature calls natural cycles. Okay platter leakage. You guys I'm going to be so honest.
- 10:51Sometimes I sneeze now and I leak a little. You get to look forward to that.
- 10:57Can't wait. Yay. Honestly this app is great because I was on birth control for over a decade.
- 11:04They just hand that out like candy. They don't educate us on anything. We don't know I didn't know
- 11:08anything about it. I was in high school. I had painful periods. Still do. And it was just like
- 11:14low band aid and I was like oh great something a magic pill. So I was on it for a decade and then
- 11:17I started getting concerned about the long term side effects and just was feeling like I needed
- 11:23to cleanse because you're not on birth control anymore. No I'm not on anything. So I use natural
- 11:28cycles because it is an FDA approved form of birth control. I think the like success rate is
- 11:34over 99% accuracy. It takes your temperature at night and can tell like when what part of your
- 11:39cycle is so you know when you and it will tell you use protection. It'll tell you like use protection
- 11:46have some fun. You're ovulating. You're fertile. You're not fertile right now. And it's crazy.
- 11:50Like it it hooks up to a wearable whether it's an aura ring or an apple watch kind of your choice
- 11:54or their bracelet. And it's just it's a really cool thing because I mean it's it's worked for me
- 11:59for the last few years and I've been able to like have that peace of mind getting off birth control
- 12:04and still like being able to track everything. And yeah it's just it's really cool. So I love that
- 12:09they're now opening up into that stage of life too. So it's like not just women that need
- 12:16birth control. Now women that are going to hormone changes and they're like educating it's just yeah
- 12:21it's really cool. I'm glad that they're trying to you know open that space. Yeah. And I've always
- 12:28been like anti wearable but I actually like like something like this where yeah don't take my blood
- 12:34pressure or my heart rate because I live in high anxiety. Hey, it's in the aura ring told me I was
- 12:39stressed out for about nine hours. Well maybe because it's telling me that maybe that's why I'm
- 12:44stressed out. It's like when you go to the doctor and they're like let us take your blood pressure
- 12:48and I'm like normally like perfect blood pressure and then I'm like because you're there you're like
- 12:52they're like do you get anxious taking I'm like yes okay let's see Anna what you got to say girl
- 13:00can I create a dawn? It's Anna from Ohio. Hello everybody at Tonit up. I am loving this year's
- 13:09challenge. While week two has been going good I feel great. I'll make this quick. I have so much
- 13:16I would want to say to you guys but my question is you talked about merch. When Tonit out had
- 13:24the sweatshirts and sweatpants. I still have my sweatshirt and it is my favorite sweatshirt.
- 13:32It's the best material. It's slouchy. It's comfy. Are we going to get more sweatshirts? I want
- 13:40comfy comfy comfy comfy. And I'm a carry on our supplements. Thank you. Love you bye. Love you
- 13:48Anna. So number one any program in your app you can do it anytime so whether week one week two
- 13:54whatever the merch yes I totally you guys all know I literally reacquired Tonit up back from
- 14:02private equity maybe six months ago now and there's so much that's gone into it and we're just like
- 14:08focused on the programs and providing our fitness content and on social media and Instagram.
- 14:14I actually am doing a video kind of explaining the process of what goes into our shoots too so
- 14:20head over to Karina Don on Instagram. Merch yes want two supplements yes so I'm reworking a lot
- 14:29of the supplements so we still have our vanilla protein which is amazing and love you can
- 14:35make your pancakes your waffles cookies banana bread yeah oh my gosh yes I know I have so many
- 14:40bananas we've been talking I know we that's about my mind now I'm like also we're gonna get my
- 14:46period in a second and like give me the banana bread so yes more and more coming there and yeah I
- 14:53absolutely love rocking my Tonit up merch I've just like made hats and stuff like that on and so
- 15:01many people DM me and want to have hats if actually if you leave a review or a comment on the podcast
- 15:11we are sending people leave your Instagram handle and we'll DM you because we're sending you hats
- 15:17and it's a nice photo because it makes me really happy to see you guys in them it's so good
- 15:21but yeah more merch more everything and thank you so much like literally
- 15:26everything that's happened in the past six months that I was so scared of in a way and then everyone
- 15:34is so supportive from the trainers from the community and I just am so happy how everyone's coming back
- 15:41together and working out together and having those great conversations together as a community and
- 15:48like still here still here ladies we are rocking and rolling all right I think we're gonna do one more
- 15:55because then we're about to go back to set yes yeah and have all three trainers do it work out
- 16:03together I know these girls have been killing it the last two days it's so crazy I'm like there's
- 16:09so many messages on here I'm like what have I have I done Kristi okay yeah hi kreena hi does
- 16:16array this is Kristi and I have been with tone adips it's 2015 a lot has changed since then I am 43
- 16:27now and like a lot of the other ladies who've called in I'm dealing with impairment
- 16:32of pause and all of those changes that we go through I've been leaning more towards strength
- 16:39training I still do cardio but mostly like walking incline but I really don't have any questions
- 16:47necessarily I just want to say that I am very proud of you and congratulations for acquiring tone
- 16:55adip back you know I stepped away for a little while because we all go down different roads different
- 17:00paths but I think it's a testament to what you guys have built because look at how many of us have
- 17:06come back and this community has gotten me through a lot in my life but you know I still talk
- 17:14to a lot of the ladies that I've met when I first started and I've made new friends and I've met
- 17:19some of them and it's just wonderful so I just wanted to say I'm proud of you I hope you guys have
- 17:26a wonderful day Kristi it makes me so happy I also just as a such a testament to the friendships
- 17:35and community and what like she said you know goes through different roads and paths and comes back
- 17:41and like it's just it's a beautiful thing that we are a foundation of friendship and love and
- 17:50celebration and we embrace it all together and it's just the friendships and the relationships
- 17:55that come from it it's just it really is beautiful it is and to understand that as a member of
- 18:01tone it up and to see that from the beginning it's always been like you can come you can go but
- 18:08we're always here when you're ready to come back home and I just really feel that right now I think
- 18:15so many of us have been through so much and I know I have and I know you have Kristi okay go to
- 18:24hashtag TIU team and also Kristi we're gonna we need to put it in the show notes yeah she's awesome she
- 18:32like we were talking about yesterday her stories are so hilarious just the funniest memes just
- 18:37the most clever dry amazing humor and she sends me stuff about like my zodiac sign and
- 18:43like we've become little TIU besties and she's so funny and just makes my day so you just you
- 18:47got to follow her just for the stories alone they're so good yeah I love it I mean community is
- 18:52everything I I feel even as we get older Kristi said she's 43 I'm turning 45 y'all by the time
- 19:00this is out I'm like a couple weeks away which is wild because I co-founded tone it up when I was 27
- 19:08and to be able to be here and still have tone it up and feel like it's home for me and like you
- 19:13discovered tone it up in high school I know I was just because there are conversations yesterday
- 19:17Ari and I we were just getting to know each other we just met and it's just such a full circle I
- 19:21know I've talked about like me and DMing tone it up and this full circle moment but I mean I
- 19:25discovered tone it up when I was I think 13 I was probably 13 or 14 and it's crazy because I was
- 19:32just you know hospitalized for an eating disorder I was maybe eating a hundred calories a day
- 19:37in just such a brutal relationship with my body and food at such a young age like I'll be 30 in
- 19:41September and that's now I mean so many years ago and so it even shows like the phases of my life
- 19:47as I mean it was a child it was a teenager going through just a horrible relationship with food
- 19:53with exercise I didn't work out I just I just starved and I just needed to be skinny and it was
- 19:56so scary for me and then I found tone it up and it made working out fun and there was all these
- 20:01amazing recipes so add nutrition and then I actually wanted to start to feel my body and have fun
- 20:07and then the community and you got it's just it really is every single stage of life we're talking
- 20:1113 to 30 to 40 to 50 to 60 it's just it really is women we hear women we hear we are here for
- 20:19each other I love it and it's so freeing to know that we're like here in this moment and I have
- 20:28these beautiful amazing trainers in the background right now like it's trying to go oh my gosh okay
- 20:33and she's oh she's gonna push up skies you're right so even yesterday I did a podcast that's
- 20:38coming out probably in like a month or so like when the program launches May 4th Monday May 4th
- 20:46oh which by the way make sure you're subscribed to the turn up newsletter because we have a live
- 20:51event coming up on the third in California but yeah had a conversation with Ari yesterday I've
- 20:59known her since 2018 and we sat down and so much came out in that conversation too where it's not
- 21:07just the workouts it's the conversations before and after the workout right yeah so how did
- 21:12she was adopted and she had a schizophrenic mother and I'm like girl like you didn't even know I
- 21:17didn't know and being able to open up these conversations and be like we have so much in common
- 21:25that we didn't even know and that's why we felt connected and then China here she's about to do
- 21:31her own solar right now I know I'm so excited and then all the girls will have the opener of the
- 21:36program all together full body strength Christina China are you I just already know the vibes are
- 21:42gonna be popping vibes are popping I love you so much thank you for just being a part you are
- 21:50my friends in stability and keep me going too I know on days where we all like feel a bit lonely
- 21:58sometimes or maybe that's just me no I I go through sometimes I really just want to be alone
- 22:04because sometimes I go alone sometimes I just want a friend and not just a puttmarine in yes that's
- 22:13all I got all right so we are attempting to do an AMA at least once a month yes hopefully does
- 22:21just move to Miami by the way I did so we'll see I'm gonna go to Miami soon and do podcasting and
- 22:28workouts there but you can always go to carina.com slash message and leave a voicebound and we will
- 22:36answer your questions I love you look at China I wish I could move the camera over here so if you're
- 22:43watching this on YouTube you'll see where we're filming if you're listening anywhere that podcasts
- 22:50Spotify or Apple you'll hear the background but I love you and let's keep being awesome together
- 22:59yay thanks for tuning in till next time
