- 0:00Speaker 1: So yeah, that has been happening for you.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Well, we did the Invader album last year and did
- 0:06Speaker 2: a big tour for that, and then we just kind
- 0:08Speaker 2: of had a little break and then I've kind of
- 0:12Speaker 2: just been doing some visual art this year and as
- 0:15Speaker 2: well as playing and recording and stuff, and yeah, just
- 0:19Speaker 2: getting rid of ready for this tour. We're doing a
- 0:21Speaker 2: big tour playing all of our singles, which is pretty
- 0:27Speaker 2: crazy because it's like fifty eight of them.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I was actually thinking before, I'm just like, what would
- 0:35Speaker 1: you say would.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Be like the Gurge's big l like track like I'll
- 0:39Speaker 3: put a finger on it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Well, probably the biggest one song formerly known as I
- 0:43Speaker 2: mean that's probably the most well known. I mean that
- 0:46Speaker 2: got in that Triple jet. I was at the Hots. Yeah, yeah,
- 0:50Speaker 2: we just had that one on the one. You know,
- 0:52Speaker 2: you hear that football games and stuff like that. Yeah,
- 0:57Speaker 2: so that probably the biggest one. But you know, I
- 0:59Speaker 2: mean we've been together liked, I think we started the
- 1:03Speaker 2: ninety end of ninety three, so we're like, I think
- 1:06Speaker 2: this is our thirty first or second year or something
- 1:09Speaker 2: like that, So that's crazy. We have a lot of songs.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I lot, I lot. Yeah, it's like you've got so
- 1:15Speaker 1: many tracks, like, so.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Many, that's right, because you don't stay in the in
- 1:19Speaker 2: the moment and you're kind of always working on what
- 1:22Speaker 2: you've you know what, You're focused on what you're about
- 1:25Speaker 2: to put out, but you don't really think about you know,
- 1:29Speaker 2: when you look back on what you've done, you can Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you can do quite a lot over that long period
- 1:33Speaker 2: of time.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's something. Yeah, yeah, isn't it?
- 1:37Speaker 2: And that was cool?
- 1:38Speaker 3: And different variations of different tracks as well, which is
- 1:41Speaker 3: always fun. It's like you get lost in your list
- 1:43Speaker 3: of like which versions which and trying.
- 1:45Speaker 1: To cut along them and find the right one.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So with the song for Me known as Am, I
- 1:52Speaker 3: correct in saying that the name for that title is
- 1:56Speaker 3: a reference to Prince himself.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, of course it was. Kwan was Uns a big
- 2:01Speaker 2: fan of princes, so I guess. And I think at
- 2:04Speaker 2: that time when we did it, he had just changed
- 2:07Speaker 2: his name, So I mean that was a long time ago.
- 2:09Speaker 2: That was like ninety sven or something like, yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Something around.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I was gonna say ninety eight eight or something is
- 2:15Speaker 3: I think, yeah might have been Yeah, right about that tin,
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'll just say that, yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Name and then he changed changed it back again.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yes, and you know, as.
- 2:24Speaker 3: You look back now, he was one of the most
- 2:26Speaker 3: amazing movies and shakers in music and is very much
- 2:30Speaker 3: more I feel respected than he was in his living days.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Bless his sweet soul.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he was an enigma. He was incredibly talented.
- 2:40Speaker 3: It shows yeah, and so so that and my other
- 2:43Speaker 3: long term fave Kung Fu Kung Fu sinc Right.
- 2:48Speaker 1: He has the nfortunate cook, is it not Many people
- 2:50Speaker 1: know that.
- 2:50Speaker 3: My brother and I used to like buy them at
- 2:52Speaker 3: the supermarket and be like.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Oh kongo.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah. People still bring boxes to our shows, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 2: people always still.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Is if you're an og you know, you know where
- 3:04Speaker 3: you're from. And catch you actually did the scratching on
- 3:07Speaker 3: that track, didn't he?
- 3:08Speaker 2: He did too. I think I think it was probably
- 3:11Speaker 2: mainly catched.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, which is pretty cool. It's the end. It's
- 3:16Speaker 1: it's iconic.
- 3:18Speaker 2: We used to get it. We've had him up on
- 3:20Speaker 2: stage many times.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah right yeah, so yeah, so future for the Gurde.
- 3:26Speaker 3: You know, we've got obviously the and what's the name
- 3:29Speaker 3: of the tour you're doing your singles to.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It's oh god.
- 3:33Speaker 2: It's called business or something. I don't know.
- 3:35Speaker 3: I did read it somewhere just went oh that. So
- 3:37Speaker 3: it starts November December, doesn't it.
- 3:40Speaker 2: It starts in November and it goes all the way
- 3:42Speaker 2: through to like next July August or something.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 3:46Speaker 2: We're touring all over Australia, New Zealand and Asia and
- 3:50Speaker 2: Japan and yeah, so we got all over the place.
- 3:53Speaker 2: It's pretty it's pretty busy. Yeah, we had a little
- 3:56Speaker 2: break and now we're going sort of mad.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Because you put on any EP last year as well, didn't.
- 4:00Speaker 2: You put out a new album? Yeah, yeah, Invader and
- 4:03Speaker 2: that was that was really good. Actually, I think that
- 4:07Speaker 2: was the most time we'd ever spent recording an album.
- 4:10Speaker 2: We spent like over two years writing it. So yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 2: we kind of just worked and worked and worked and
- 4:17Speaker 2: treated at like work and worked really hard and wrote
- 4:21Speaker 2: heaps of songs. So we were really happy with that
- 4:23Speaker 2: record because we were like, oh, you know, we kind
- 4:27Speaker 2: of didn't want to fuck around. We wanted to be
- 4:29Speaker 2: like the best we possibly could. So we spent a
- 4:31Speaker 2: long time and we kind of feel like we've got
- 4:34Speaker 2: really good reviews with it. And I were really proud
- 4:37Speaker 2: of that record because we we put more time into
- 4:40Speaker 2: that than any other record. Yeah. Yeah, sometimes, like we'd
- 4:43Speaker 2: spent one album we spent three weeks on. You know,
- 4:47Speaker 2: I think Unit took like six weeks to make. It's
- 4:50Speaker 2: kind of like, oh, let's just try and work really hard,
- 4:52Speaker 2: make something really cool.
- 4:54Speaker 3: It's funny though, when you get in the zone, like
- 4:55Speaker 3: you know, you can just pump out stuff that like
- 4:57Speaker 3: you know, he's on that same sort of like sound
- 4:59Speaker 3: level to make an album, Like, you know, six weeks
- 5:01Speaker 3: is pretty short time, but then you know, sometimes it
- 5:04Speaker 3: can take that longer to get it all together and
- 5:07Speaker 3: then just have those moments where you let it come
- 5:09Speaker 3: to you sort of thing and then refine it.
- 5:11Speaker 2: It's a bit of that and a lot of writing
- 5:14Speaker 2: and a lot of rewriting. Like I think I usually
- 5:17Speaker 2: write lots of songs. I think I write like maybe
- 5:19Speaker 2: fifty songs and yeah, like six or something, and then
- 5:22Speaker 2: Kwan would pick you know, maybe ten songs. But he'll
- 5:27Speaker 2: re record the same song in like six or seven
- 5:30Speaker 2: different ways, like yeah, thirty old Men on that record,
- 5:33Speaker 2: I think he recorded seven different versions. I was just
- 5:37Speaker 2: like a Tom Waits version, like a yeah, you know,
- 5:41Speaker 2: country rock version. All these versens.
- 5:43Speaker 3: It's different parts and like to make the final product,
- 5:47Speaker 3: so to speak, and it's push boundaries.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You drive yourself pretty crazy though we already there anyway. Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 2: well true, true.
- 5:57Speaker 1: People think I'm normal.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I'm like whatever's yeah, and so from Invader, I guess
- 6:03Speaker 3: you're the most your attraction.
- 6:05Speaker 1: The track that you got was was Cocaine Runaway.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, Cocaine run Away.
- 6:10Speaker 1: It was very different to what you guys had done previously.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I really one of my favors. It was good.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that was really fun. Wrote the music and
- 6:18Speaker 2: said it to me and he goes, oh, do you
- 6:20Speaker 2: think we should do this for the record, But he
- 6:21Speaker 2: didn't have lyrics, and then he was like, what does
- 6:24Speaker 2: it sound like? And I said, it sounds like a
- 6:27Speaker 2: real estate agent who blows up his life and goes
- 6:31Speaker 2: on a drug bender. So that he wrote all the
- 6:34Speaker 2: lyrics about this.
- 6:35Speaker 1: That's so funny.
- 6:36Speaker 3: So do you predominantly write your music first and then
- 6:39Speaker 3: the lyrics or sometimes you have lyrics and then you
- 6:41Speaker 3: write music to it.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Which which I mean either or I think one's very
- 6:45Speaker 2: lyrics driven like me too.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Here.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm a very big fan of his because I love
- 6:50Speaker 2: his His the way he writes is really great.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So, yeah, he's got the knack, doesn't he.
- 6:55Speaker 3: He's comical satirical lyrics, which sometimes you know, so nonsensical,
- 7:01Speaker 3: but then if you look further into it, it's just like,
- 7:03Speaker 3: oh yeah that's smart, that's funny. Smart, Yeah, very intelligent.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good. It's funny that you say, like, I mean,
- 7:10Speaker 1: what does it sound like?
- 7:11Speaker 3: I with one of my tracks slates Dave send it
- 7:13Speaker 3: to Jeff and goes, what do you reckon? And he's like, oh,
- 7:16Speaker 3: it sounds like a daydream nightmare, And I'm just like
- 7:21Speaker 3: I like that.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So it's funny how things go about. Yeah, yeah, I
- 7:25Speaker 1: know that's some. Yeah.
- 7:26Speaker 3: And so with this thing, was I going to do
- 7:28Speaker 3: like an album with it all or just get to.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Just tour and just go everywhere and bring the goodness
- 7:33Speaker 1: to the good people.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah? I just think because I mean, because we've been
- 7:36Speaker 2: around so long, and there's a lot of songs that
- 7:39Speaker 2: you ask for, a lot of singles and stuff that
- 7:43Speaker 2: people ask for that you know, you can only play
- 7:45Speaker 2: like an hour and a half or our forty five sets.
- 7:48Speaker 2: You can't kind of play everything. So yeah, this tour
- 7:52Speaker 2: is more of an opportunity to do like all a singles.
- 7:56Speaker 2: So you know, people I guess be said satisfied because
- 8:00Speaker 2: they'll hear it's going to be a long show though
- 8:03Speaker 2: I think it's Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I was going to say, so, is there going to
- 8:05Speaker 1: be like an extended show like.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, hour or yeah, it's got two sets to it
- 8:10Speaker 2: and that's cool. Yeah, it should go close. Yeah, we've
- 8:14Speaker 2: got a cool support from from South Australia. Den Mob
- 8:19Speaker 2: are playing. That's really great group. They're really cool, awesome.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So yeah, but we've got one support so we can
- 8:25Speaker 2: play for.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Longer and okay yeah yeah yeah, And so you guys
- 8:29Speaker 3: are actually supporting Grinners and Adelaide and Perth. I review
- 8:34Speaker 3: them last early. It's amazing. Yeah, that was that was
- 8:39Speaker 3: pretty cool. It was a long time since I've done
- 8:41Speaker 3: headline to show themselves as well, so people of Adelaide
- 8:44Speaker 3: and Perth and even Sport by having both of you
- 8:46Speaker 3: guys on the bill, which is kind of cool.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it'd be great. I mean I was really grateful
- 8:51Speaker 2: to get that offer to play with those guys.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Fun.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, like those guys I know Phil and Joe pretty well.
- 8:58Speaker 2: They're really great. Yeah.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I remember my first year of UNI at our good
- 9:02Speaker 3: old Southern Cross was films in his last.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Year, so yeah, oh yeah, I remember, Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Liz Marian's were that's right, well, that's yeah, that's.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Why I did by Uni Day.
- 9:15Speaker 3: So yeah, he was on his last Yeah, it was
- 9:18Speaker 3: right when they kicked off and they I think they
- 9:21Speaker 3: went at the year before and he was in like
- 9:22Speaker 3: finishing his last year.
- 9:23Speaker 1: The next year. It just sort of transpot.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I think one of the guys didn't manage to finish
- 9:27Speaker 3: their degree and just went the hardcore with the band.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, it.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Was sing him when we played lis More shows, like
- 9:33Speaker 2: with his hair and up chop clothes, which was the
- 9:38Speaker 2: look at the time.
- 9:39Speaker 1: It was.
- 9:40Speaker 3: It was the grunge it was, and I was so
- 9:41Speaker 3: in that era there that the funnies that you know,
- 9:44Speaker 3: the Levi five O one's Your Dogs and just the.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Full grunge cargo pants or yes.
- 9:49Speaker 1: The cargo pants, all of that.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I actually did a flashback of like this summer that
- 9:54Speaker 3: changed my life, and it was the summer of ninety
- 9:56Speaker 3: five and we had this incredible run of like festivals
- 9:59Speaker 3: in the re in between bris and Byron.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It was Borron ninety five, Big Day out Home Bake.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And just like that Home Bake one that.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Was more club like I think at the start of
- 10:09Speaker 3: it and in spine of bate yourselves and.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It was just we got asked to play that because
- 10:14Speaker 2: you were or something, and we we got added like
- 10:18Speaker 2: the day before or something. Wow, we just have to
- 10:21Speaker 2: be available. So we went down and just started pouring
- 10:25Speaker 2: really heavily at the end of our set. Yes, And
- 10:29Speaker 2: I remember walking around the crowd and seeing armies and
- 10:33Speaker 2: people with mud attacked and like totally mash all the
- 10:38Speaker 2: beer workers. And then I was watched Silver Chair play
- 10:42Speaker 2: after us and they just got totally covered in mud.
- 10:46Speaker 1: We revel end the slender my best, you know, we've
- 10:48Speaker 1: been doing it for years. Yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: We went watched Spider Bait later and I think they
- 10:53Speaker 2: were wearing wet suits.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Still as well.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and I know that that was that was bad
- 11:01Speaker 3: Bone Baking, and there was news Eve as well.
- 11:02Speaker 1: It's like a whole bunch of festivals in that time,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and it was.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Full of Barron Bay Arts first, yes.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, the Barron Fest. Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:09Speaker 3: So it was between the start of ninety five and
- 11:12Speaker 3: I think the end, and it just was like goodness
- 11:13Speaker 3: that you'll never see again on.
- 11:15Speaker 1: The line up.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Yeah, because you guys lived in Byron for a little
- 11:18Speaker 3: while too, didn't you while you were running album?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Uh oh we yeah, we rented a house at wa
- 11:23Speaker 2: it goes for like three months. I remember playing a
- 11:26Speaker 2: Barron Arts festival and then I think I just slept
- 11:29Speaker 2: in my van or something, and then next day I
- 11:31Speaker 2: went for a swim down at very you know, down
- 11:35Speaker 2: at whites I remember walking down the walking down the
- 11:39Speaker 2: beach and I had this vaist going help, help, we'll last,
- 11:43Speaker 2: We're last, and I was like what, and then I said,
- 11:46Speaker 2: the tracks over here, the tracks over here, followed my voice,
- 11:50Speaker 2: and then out of the bush staggered Tim Finn and
- 11:53Speaker 2: his girlfriend and I was like, I was like, you're
- 11:56Speaker 2: Tim Finn and then he goes, oh, you're the guy
- 11:59Speaker 2: from Regurgitate. I saw you play at the Baron Arts
- 12:02Speaker 2: Festival last night, and then we went down the beach
- 12:04Speaker 2: and like, I don't know, and it kind of became
- 12:07Speaker 2: friends with Tim Finn for a while there, which is funny.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I know there's a lot of a lot
- 12:14Speaker 3: of shared memories and a lot of good times back
- 12:16Speaker 3: from those days.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Indeed.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's good times, good times. So yeah, so
- 12:22Speaker 3: you've probably will be able to visit revisit some of
- 12:25Speaker 3: that nostalgia on the tour, which if you're going to
- 12:27Speaker 3: especially all the regions, are you stopping in at a
- 12:30Speaker 3: barn this time as well?
- 12:31Speaker 1: And yeah, it also look like Gold Coast.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Then that'll be kind of later on down the track. Yeah,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I think we just got to focus on this Zaid
- 12:41Speaker 2: fifty show. And but yeah, we're going We're going to
- 12:44Speaker 2: be going everywhere eventually.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so we said fifty, what's the light up for that?
- 12:50Speaker 3: You are going to bring out some new ones or
- 12:52Speaker 3: the old favorites, what's the plan?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Will kind of just play like well, you know Triple Z,
- 12:57Speaker 2: so we'll be playing like kind of like some more
- 13:00Speaker 2: punk rock stuff.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 13:03Speaker 2: But we've got this amazing girl, Slim, who is from Melbourne,
- 13:08Speaker 2: who plays guitar and keyboard.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Oh Sarah, yeah, Sah, girl crash, I developed, she shred.
- 13:16Speaker 1: She's incredible. Yeah, she's the bomb. She's perfect fit for
- 13:20Speaker 1: the Girds.
- 13:21Speaker 2: She's such a lovely person to have.
- 13:23Speaker 1: She's just got hopping guitar too.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And because I played face was hopping and black, so
- 13:29Speaker 3: yeah it's yeah, Sarah's good.
- 13:31Speaker 1: She well yeah, yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but Sarah were like, we just had it for
- 13:35Speaker 2: the invader toal c of these like extra keyboard and
- 13:38Speaker 2: guitar parts. But then yeah, she's so great. We're like,
- 13:42Speaker 2: we can't play without you anymore.
- 13:45Speaker 1: She become part of the fan. That's so sweet.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Kind of yeah, because she's got.
- 13:49Speaker 3: The whole like simp like guitar keyboard thing going on
- 13:52Speaker 3: as well, but she just nails and it's impressive.
- 13:55Speaker 1: And her hair, oh my gosh.
- 13:58Speaker 2: She's got majestic hair. Her he isn't she just.
- 14:01Speaker 3: It just like yeah, yeah, I know she's She's definitely
- 14:05Speaker 3: a great fit and a good a good.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Addition for sure.
- 14:08Speaker 2: He's a good egg.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and I swear like Quan he does an
- 14:11Speaker 3: age like is he is he listened person or what.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Like he's has has not aged.
- 14:16Speaker 3: I couldn't believe it when I saw you guys last
- 14:17Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, you're like wow, Yeah, it was impressive.
- 14:22Speaker 1: So whatever he's doing, keep doing it. Well.
- 14:24Speaker 2: It's kind of like, yeah, I guess it's the job.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Goes with the job, maybe keeps you.
- 14:30Speaker 3: He came to sometimes the end he could be stressful,
- 14:32Speaker 3: but yeah, I like to say, now the elixir to
- 14:34Speaker 3: life is partying late nights and you know, hard times
- 14:37Speaker 3: than I've won someone my age feel.
- 14:40Speaker 1: My age very much.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Some days it's like oh yeah, especially when I got grandchildren.
- 14:43Speaker 2: These days, oh wow, you got grandkids.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah my my my oldest started young and I'm like, thanks,
- 14:50Speaker 3: it's the best you can hand them back being an
- 14:52Speaker 3: empty esther and now it gets.
- 14:54Speaker 1: To do the best job in the world.
- 14:55Speaker 3: So we're like, yeah, so playing on D fifty with
- 14:59Speaker 3: the Boys and butter Fingers are going to be in
- 15:01Speaker 3: the lineup as well.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 15:02Speaker 3: And because they've been quite for a while too on
- 15:04Speaker 3: the on the track, not doing too much.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I think last time they played with yourselves, didn't they
- 15:10Speaker 1: they did?
- 15:11Speaker 2: They did tour with this. I think it wasn't last year,
- 15:13Speaker 2: the year before maybe, Yeah, which is cool. So that
- 15:18Speaker 2: was really fun that tour. Actually, yeah, we did that too,
- 15:20Speaker 2: we too with a whole bunch of bands. We had
- 15:22Speaker 2: Likedzy death Rays and and it was a few other bands,
- 15:27Speaker 2: but we felt that butter Fingers energy was really really great.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 3: It kind of fits with the Go kind of gone
- 15:34Speaker 3: that same it's punk and that you know, tongue in
- 15:37Speaker 3: Chico kind of comedy.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, it's good, good value, good lyrics to
- 15:41Speaker 1: the song.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Sometimes I'm like, Eddie makes you shake your head yeah, Eddie,
- 15:48Speaker 3: Yeah a couple of times.
- 15:50Speaker 1: So yeah, and it'll be good to see. And it
- 15:53Speaker 1: was on the bill for fifteen.
- 15:55Speaker 2: We got like party doesn't a really really cool and
- 15:59Speaker 2: it's a great fat is on screen feeders there Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 2: and Fla Japanees and Tropical fock Storm and the stints
- 16:10Speaker 2: with Mark m from mud Honey Yeahing and Big Noda
- 16:15Speaker 2: which is Briggs kind of like heavy heavy, kind of
- 16:19Speaker 2: nineties for rock band.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I said done to catch you.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I said that the Z fifty line up reads like
- 16:24Speaker 3: a Jeff love Joy disc going pretty much. But yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 3: I know it's it's gonna be good. It's gonna be
- 16:31Speaker 3: good to some good day for sure. Except us at
- 16:33Speaker 3: Park Lanes.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know how to be match fit
- 16:36Speaker 1: to get to the venue. It's along like that hill.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Are you gonna make it along?
- 16:40Speaker 1: You think, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. Plan.
- 16:42Speaker 3: That's that's a plan to want to be there to
- 16:44Speaker 3: do a live review and see you guys and the
- 16:45Speaker 3: whole day and get down.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And well it's gonna be a real trip for us.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Because that was the first gig we ever had was
- 16:52Speaker 2: on that stage. Wow, that's that's really cool. It was
- 16:56Speaker 2: which was like ninety started ninety four in the summer,
- 17:00Speaker 2: and I think it was like an Amnesty International benefit
- 17:04Speaker 2: show or something free park gig.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you had.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I think we only had like five songs.
- 17:12Speaker 1: And we just started out like early ninety four.
- 17:17Speaker 2: We barely had any song. We played two songs twice
- 17:19Speaker 2: because and our drummer had a little drums trigger sample thing.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, the sound of a barking dog and
- 17:30Speaker 2: the sound of breaking glass and between each song you
- 17:33Speaker 2: could just sear this dog. So it'll be it'll be
- 17:38Speaker 2: a bit of a trip for us to go and play.
- 17:41Speaker 2: We actually haven't played there for on that stage since
- 17:44Speaker 2: I started ninety four, which is what So it's.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Really been like all that time since you guys have
- 17:49Speaker 1: been back there. That's very nostalgic.
- 17:51Speaker 2: It's rair and that's where they used to kind of
- 17:53Speaker 2: have like they did for a while. Like they did
- 17:56Speaker 2: for a while there they had triple said market days there.
- 17:59Speaker 2: It's really buy to please days. You don't have that
- 18:02Speaker 2: many street street press magazines, so a lot of time
- 18:06Speaker 2: shows roll through and I don't even know they are
- 18:08Speaker 2: coming or being I don't know. Maybe I'm just having
- 18:11Speaker 2: got my finger on the pulse.
- 18:12Speaker 3: You're just gonna sign up to Heavy Mag free subscription, okay, yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 3: we as we did Heavy manas where's all happening with
- 18:20Speaker 3: all the all the news and that also you just
- 18:23Speaker 3: got to keep your eye whatever's on and usually we'll
- 18:25Speaker 3: publish most things and the gig guy that's on and
- 18:27Speaker 3: around and about.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, look forward to it for sure, which
- 18:33Speaker 1: is next week.
- 18:34Speaker 3: And I hear that you're going to be sneaky thinky
- 18:36Speaker 3: little tells me you're gonna be a nimband the day before.
- 18:38Speaker 1: The day after.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, book end of last year, just with my with
- 18:44Speaker 2: my other band. I got a band because you know,
- 18:47Speaker 2: Kwan lives in Melbourne and Sydney, so we can't catch
- 18:52Speaker 2: up much. So I've just got a band with friends
- 18:54Speaker 2: that we just jam. Yeah.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Because you're still busy, are too?
- 18:57Speaker 3: Okay you're still in Brisy Yeah yeah yeah, Brisneyland as
- 19:01Speaker 3: we call it.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I love it.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's great. That's the eleve between. I spent probably
- 19:06Speaker 3: as Muchlimb and Brizzie as I do down here.
- 19:08Speaker 1: It's that it's not that far.
- 19:09Speaker 2: It sounds great.
- 19:10Speaker 1: We love brisney Land.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I was out for twenty years but coming back
- 19:15Speaker 2: was really great.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I really in the best part of the world. It's
- 19:18Speaker 1: it's a good ness me but yeah, no, it's it'll
- 19:21Speaker 1: be good. It'll be good.
- 19:22Speaker 3: So you're playing on this on the Friday or the Saturday.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Oh sorry, the Sunday at n min Routes Festival.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I'm playing on Friday two thirty, so it's fine. I'll
- 19:29Speaker 2: just drive down there in the morning and then yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 2: then come back that night and get ready for the
- 19:36Speaker 2: the next time.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yeah. What times a kickoff on some fifty.
- 19:40Speaker 2: It's I think it's around midday.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say it to midday, midnight, late
- 19:44Speaker 3: morning kickoff, I think yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I think it's about one o'clock perhaps, and it goes
- 19:50Speaker 2: to all about ten. I think, yeah, it's a big deal.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I know there's a couple of a couple of side
- 19:54Speaker 3: things happening with Z fifty as well around the place
- 19:57Speaker 3: too that I know.
- 19:57Speaker 1: There's a massive one three to three.
- 19:59Speaker 3: I think these catches part of you know, the friend
- 20:02Speaker 3: of mine in the Whiskeys, they're playing in another fifty
- 20:05Speaker 3: side games, So I love that.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I love that they've put on so many different shows
- 20:10Speaker 2: across town and that kind of like yeah, pretty much.
- 20:15Speaker 2: They really kind of touched on almost every every kind
- 20:19Speaker 2: of band from the Brism music scene, and there's a
- 20:22Speaker 2: lot of bands that used to exist that are reforming
- 20:25Speaker 2: for it.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Yeah, really fifty it was you know that there they
- 20:30Speaker 3: you know where a lot of you guys cut your
- 20:31Speaker 3: teeth in like the what were you like to call
- 20:33Speaker 3: it the a gray top sholf for Brisbane music and
- 20:36Speaker 3: where you're all at and it's it's cool to see
- 20:38Speaker 3: and the diversity of different genres as well, which is
- 20:40Speaker 3: I think, you know the other really key factor. You know,
- 20:43Speaker 3: you've got your role and your grant, you've got hip
- 20:45Speaker 3: hop and your you know that sort of mix of
- 20:47Speaker 3: the goodness and yeah yeah yeah folks seen of course.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Yeah it's yeah something and I love in genres mix,
- 20:55Speaker 3: you know, that's that's my favorite stuff. And they come
- 20:57Speaker 3: together and it spoke me music with like hip hop rap.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I've seen that done before and I was like, wow, that's.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Actually pretty cool.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah cool.
