- 0:01Speaker 1: That was highly entertaining content last night. There are a
- 0:06Speaker 1: lot of playoff games that was good, and it started
- 0:09Speaker 1: at six forty Eastern time and really went pretty deep
- 0:13Speaker 1: into the night with some of the West Coast games.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Obviously the earlier games were more important for who's getting
- 0:18Speaker 1: in and who's not. But we had some clinters, so
- 0:21Speaker 1: it's gonna be good. That was fun. I mean, we're
- 0:23Speaker 1: gonna get five more nights of this until the playoffs.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We don't get this off.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Actually, Detroit and the Guardians, yeah, they're really in the
- 0:32Speaker 2: thick of it, and Seattle's won the West, congratulations of them.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Houston might not get in at all, which would be amazing,
- 0:41Speaker 2: which I don't think anybody thought was a possibility going
- 0:44Speaker 2: into this. The Dodgers and the Padres are still alive
- 0:47Speaker 2: somehow in that division because the Dodgers' bullpen is not
- 0:52Speaker 2: good right now, especially the very very back end of it,
- 0:55Speaker 2: but trying in a struggle to Tanner Scott's struggle. The
- 0:57Speaker 2: Blue Jays haven't won the East yet and the Yankees
- 0:59Speaker 2: are right there, so there's a lot of drama still
- 1:03Speaker 2: to be decided. But the biggest thing to me is
- 1:04Speaker 2: the fact that the Astros might not get in at all,
- 1:08Speaker 2: which is just insanity to me.
- 1:11Speaker 1: They basically have had a hold on the division for
- 1:14Speaker 1: a decade. Now, are we good to start with Guardians
- 1:18Speaker 1: and Tigers? That one felt like a legit playoff game.
- 1:22Speaker 2: This is a playoff game. They're fighting for their playoff lives.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, all right, so let's do that. Let's charge
- 1:27Speaker 1: the mound. It's presented by the Alerts. Charge lidds and
- 1:35Speaker 1: we'll talk more about lids coming up. Guardians win. They
- 1:39Speaker 1: beat Tyrek Scougbel last three starts for Schooble, all losses
- 1:44Speaker 1: for the Tigers. This game had a little bit of
- 1:46Speaker 1: everything and it all kind of fell apart for them quickly.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Tigers looked like they were in control of this one.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Guardians went at five to two, and they've beaten the
- 1:55Speaker 1: Tigers in four straight. The losing skid for Detroit is
- 1:59Speaker 1: seven in a row. And we can get into some
- 2:01Speaker 1: intricacies here, but I do want to point this out
- 2:03Speaker 1: as well. Aj They struck out nineteen times. Nineteen times,
- 2:09Speaker 1: and there were a few questionable calls for both sides.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Umps definitely had some terrible performances yesterday, and whoever was
- 2:16Speaker 1: in control of home plate yesterday and that game was bad.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But nineteen strikeouts for the Tigers' bats, You're not going
- 2:23Speaker 1: to win many games like that.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Oh No, Williams was awesome for them. For the For
- 2:27Speaker 2: the Guardians, twelve punchouts and six innings only to continue
- 2:30Speaker 2: their streak of two hurned runs or less. Their bullpen
- 2:33Speaker 2: came in and did what it did with Sebrowski we
- 2:35Speaker 2: had on the show in spring training, Hunter Gaddison, then
- 2:38Speaker 2: Kate Smith, But I mean Schoobol was in control of
- 2:41Speaker 2: this game, and still the Guardians started playing small ball,
- 2:43Speaker 2: which is why I still think bunts are effective. I
- 2:45Speaker 2: think bunts and big situations are effective, especially if you
- 2:48Speaker 2: have dudes with speed and pressure on the other team.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Because Stephen Kuan leads off of the infield sing ininfield
- 2:53Speaker 2: bun hit, you're like a no big deal, And the
- 2:55Speaker 2: next thing you know, they bunt again. Schoobol tries to
- 2:57Speaker 2: hike it to first, it goes away. Then then Josey
- 3:01Speaker 2: Ramirez hits a seven Hubbard to the third baseman they
- 3:05Speaker 2: can't get any outs on, then a back a wild pitch,
- 3:08Speaker 2: and then prayers for David Fry, Please prayer I know,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I think he's okay, but that was one of the
- 3:12Speaker 2: worst things I've ever seen when he took a fastball
- 3:15Speaker 2: right to the face. I know it hit the bat,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but still so prayers to David Fry. You saw School's reaction.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Next pitch, wild pitch to score a run. I mean
- 3:23Speaker 2: this was this. They scored three runs and didn't hit
- 3:25Speaker 2: a ball. They got to the Dirk of the infield,
- 3:28Speaker 2: which is crazy. So I mean kudos to the Guardians
- 3:32Speaker 2: and Gavin Williams, but Man Scooba was in control of
- 3:34Speaker 2: this game until small ball kicked in. So I don't
- 3:36Speaker 2: know why more teams don't do it.
- 3:38Speaker 3: This is why people don't do small ball, because had
- 3:41Speaker 3: the Tigers just gotten me out taking the out that
- 3:45Speaker 3: they were giving him, and not tried to hike the ball,
- 3:48Speaker 3: not got unlucky with a ninety nine mile hour fastball
- 3:52Speaker 3: that hit off of Hosey's knuckles, not flinched on the ball.
- 3:57Speaker 3: That's why organization teams are like, I can't rely on bunting.
- 4:01Speaker 3: We got to rely on the home run. You have
- 4:03Speaker 3: to have some type of blend. And I disagree with
- 4:05Speaker 3: what Scott said. They said, Oh, the Guardians took the game.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I think the Tigers gave them the game. If these
- 4:11Speaker 3: are the two teams that are playing in the playoffs,
- 4:14Speaker 3: You're like, are we going.
- 4:16Speaker 2: To see any hits? Like there just wasn't.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Riley had had the home run, winzel Perez had the double.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Seemed like they were in control of the game. But
- 4:27Speaker 3: it just was kind of a hitting game. And Gavin Williams, shoot,
- 4:34Speaker 3: he just listened to AJ and was like, Oh, I'll
- 4:36Speaker 3: just throw this curveball. They can't hit it. And they
- 4:39Speaker 3: never made the adjustment. They would take the balls and swing.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I mean they would take the strikes and swing at
- 4:44Speaker 3: the balls. It was a bad recipe for the for
- 4:47Speaker 3: the Tigers hitters.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Top four bases loaded, one out.
- 4:55Speaker 2: There was a lot of situation. Three two County drops
- 4:57Speaker 2: a curveball in also, let's not forget it, and that's situation.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Then he got the next guy to swing at a
- 5:02Speaker 2: ball in this in this trag zone. I mean, Austin
- 5:05Speaker 2: Hedges did an unbelievable job getting Gavin Williams through this game.
- 5:11Speaker 2: He deserves a lot of credit. Scooba was in control
- 5:13Speaker 2: of this game until they started bunning. That's why I
- 5:15Speaker 2: think bunning should be a part of something. I've seen
- 5:18Speaker 2: it happen too many times. It's not that you just
- 5:20Speaker 2: especially if you have a bunch of fast guys like
- 5:22Speaker 2: the Guardians, Kwan and who was I forget who hits
- 5:24Speaker 2: the second for him? The center fielder, Jeez went hold on,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I went blank on his name Martinez?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Oh, I know, yeah?
- 5:33Speaker 2: And how Martinez bunted then, right, I mean, Kawan hit
- 5:36Speaker 2: a perfect bunt to start it off. You're like scool,
- 5:38Speaker 2: be like, ah, okay, we're up to nothing, no big deal.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Then Martinez bunts the ball to first and that's when
- 5:44Speaker 2: Scoobal panic and but and you know, threw it over
- 5:46Speaker 2: the head and that's when that's when all heck broke
- 5:48Speaker 2: Loues after that for the for the Guardians. So small
- 5:51Speaker 2: ball still can win you games. If you can't hit homers,
- 5:53Speaker 2: you got to try small ball. And teams aren't used
- 5:56Speaker 2: to defending it. That's why I think the Brewers are
- 5:58Speaker 2: so successful, because teams aren't used to defending this little stuff.
- 6:03Speaker 2: But they're tied now in the standings and Cleveland has
- 6:05Speaker 2: the tiebreaker. The biggest thing for Cleveland, they got to
- 6:08Speaker 2: win one of the next two. If they win one
- 6:10Speaker 2: of the next two. They're in great shape. They control
- 6:12Speaker 2: their own destiny going into the last three games.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Because they'd essentially be two games up. If they win
- 6:17Speaker 1: one of the next two games, they would have a
- 6:19Speaker 1: one game lead. That is really a two game lead.
- 6:22Speaker 2: They're tied. They're tired right now. So if they win
- 6:25Speaker 2: one of the next two, they split.
- 6:27Speaker 1: All right, they the next two, that's over right, right right.
- 6:30Speaker 2: You can cancel it. They're split. They're tied, but Cleveland
- 6:32Speaker 2: has the tiebreaker, so if they split, if they split
- 6:35Speaker 2: the next two, Cleveland controls their own.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Destiny right now with three games left, and Detroit's.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Got to go to Boston. Yes, and Cleveland has Texas,
- 6:45Speaker 2: who Bruce Bochi said, basically quit last night.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, they're throwing out I think some of their better starters.
- 6:51Speaker 1: But whatever, I mean, Well.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Thems pitching tonight, so they ain't gonna see him.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Well, couldn't he pitch.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Well Thursday for Today's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The
- 7:02Speaker 2: ain't bringing them back short now. So de Gram's pitching
- 7:05Speaker 2: the night, so he's done.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I think they might see Kelly in that series. But anyway,
- 7:09Speaker 1: did you ever see da Gram or Kelly. Yeah, not close.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'd obviously rather see Kelly ft fam. Superpower believes that

- 8:15Speaker 1: thing on this game, So Cody Stavenhagen brought this up.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He said there were two outs when AJ Hinch brought
- 8:21Speaker 1: in Kyle Finnegan to face Stephen Kuan. Right against lefty.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Kwan has a seven to seventy four ops against right
- 8:29Speaker 1: handed pitching, only five ninety against left handed pitching. Cody said,
- 8:33Speaker 1: Hinch went with his best arm in the moment, but
- 8:34Speaker 1: for a manager who has obsessed over matchups, it's one
- 8:38Speaker 1: of the oddest decisions in his Tiger's tenure. Do you
- 8:41Speaker 1: guys agree, No, No, splitter.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Kwan's numbers against the splitter aren't very good. So you're
- 8:50Speaker 3: getting a guy that you have to get him to
- 8:52Speaker 3: put the ball in play. And I think I didn't
- 8:56Speaker 3: disagree with that. Righty lefty doesn't always apply. Some guys
- 9:00Speaker 3: have better splits. But some guy, who is he gonna
- 9:04Speaker 3: who is he gonna go to?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Down there?
- 9:06Speaker 3: To me, I thought I thought Finnegan was the guy.
- 9:08Speaker 3: He knew his season, not the season on the line,
- 9:10Speaker 3: but the game was on the line, had to stay
- 9:12Speaker 3: exactly where it was. I like going to Finnegan, not
- 9:16Speaker 3: just the robot.
- 9:17Speaker 2: We need a left date. We need somebody different.
- 9:20Speaker 3: You want to you want to go out there and
- 9:22Speaker 3: win the or win or lose the game with your
- 9:24Speaker 3: best pitchers on the mountain. He went to He went
- 9:27Speaker 3: to Tommy Kayley right out of the gate in uh
- 9:30Speaker 3: whatever that was six or seventh inning when Scooba came out.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but Kayley hasn't had a good year this year.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Let's let's also not Kayley is not like Kayley's lights out.
- 9:41Speaker 2: The problem is they don't have anybody down there. We
- 9:43Speaker 2: went through it yesterday. Kenny's got a four and a half. Yarady.
- 9:46Speaker 2: He went to Finnigan to try to clean up Kinley's
- 9:48Speaker 2: mess right from from the hit in the walk and
- 9:51Speaker 2: then so he's like, oh boy, here we go. And
- 9:54Speaker 2: he went to his best guy, he's been his best
- 9:56Speaker 2: guy to try to hold it at three to two,
- 9:58Speaker 2: hoping against hope that they wuldn't score. And then they
- 10:00Speaker 2: once they put those two, once they have five to
- 10:02Speaker 2: the game was over. I mean it was it was.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It was just over. I mean, what's he supposed to do?
- 10:07Speaker 2: He went to Finigan to try to save the game.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I mean he did. I think it was the right
- 10:12Speaker 2: Who else is he gonna go to We went to
- 10:14Speaker 2: their bullpen yesterday. Who's he gonna go to it ain't
- 10:16Speaker 2: it ain't like they have tons of strikeout dudes down there. No,
- 10:19Speaker 2: Kwan's more likely gonna put the ball in play. He
- 10:21Speaker 2: went to the guy thought gave him the best chance.
- 10:22Speaker 1: It is not a swinging miss bullpen. We knew that.
- 10:26Speaker 1: They knew that trade deadline. They said, just bring in everyone.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But then look at Cleveland. So gall Williams struck out
- 10:33Speaker 2: twelve and six innings. They go to Sebrowski to two
- 10:36Speaker 2: punches away. He's nasty, he's filthy. Hunter Gaddis three punches
- 10:40Speaker 2: one inning, and then Kate Smith two punchies one inning.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That will go to the Cainley did strike out.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Too, right, Yeah, he walked the nine hitter, he did.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And then Finnigan zero strikeouts, Herder zero strikeouts, Montero zero strikeouts.
- 10:55Speaker 1: To me, there's your difference. There's a very extreme different.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It's between what Cleveland's throwing out there in the late
- 11:03Speaker 1: innings and what the Tigers are putting out there in
- 11:05Speaker 1: the late innings, right, I mean, that's the clear cut difference.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Right now. Does Detroit have a better offense, Yeah, I
- 11:10Speaker 1: would say, so, right, there's better offense, Cleveland, I mean,
- 11:14Speaker 1: might make the playoffs with one of the lowest ranks
- 11:16Speaker 1: offenses is we've seen in the sport in a while.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But I would say the starting pitching is a wash
- 11:22Speaker 1: maybe with those two because Schooglett Cleveland right now.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Struggling, I mean, yeah, really good. The second half Harker
- 11:35Speaker 2: Messick's been unbelievable. So I would right now, I think
- 11:39Speaker 2: you would have to take the Guardians pitching as a whole.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yep, and they're they're playing better Dre. There's better even
- 11:47Speaker 1: at bats, even though the offense might not be as potent.
- 11:49Speaker 1: So this is the first time the Tigers are not
- 11:51Speaker 1: leading the American League Central since April. And the Guardians
- 11:56Speaker 1: were fifteen and a half games back on July eighth,
- 11:58Speaker 1: twelve and a half games by on August twenty fifth.
- 12:01Speaker 1: They were nine and a half games back on September tenth,
- 12:05Speaker 1: two weeks ago, nine and a half games back, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: here they are.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Oh, they're sixteen to two in their last eighteen.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Yeah, they're on fire, Tigers having won in a long time. Schooble,
- 12:16Speaker 1: by the way, is scheduled to start Sunday, they're gonna
- 12:18Speaker 1: probably need them to start on Sunday, and that messes.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Them up and then screws them if they do, you
- 12:21Speaker 2: get into the post. These two team's gonna have to
- 12:23Speaker 2: play again in the first round, by the way, if
- 12:25Speaker 2: things stay where they're at. So the Guardians are like, oh, yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 2: please pitch Schooble. The question is is if do the
- 12:32Speaker 2: do the Tigers if it gets to Sunday, do they
- 12:36Speaker 2: just say, you know what, Scoobs, You're pitching Tuesday in
- 12:38Speaker 2: Cleveland will be the will be the wild card? Yeah?
- 12:45Speaker 2: To do that? Do you can see that?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Yeah, because you're gonna be a wildcard team regardless.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Let's say they're tied going to the last day and
- 12:53Speaker 2: Cleveland has the tiebreaker. Every game starts at the same time.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Do you make a decision if you're a J. Hinch
- 12:59Speaker 2: and say, we're gonna give it up so we have
- 13:01Speaker 2: our best guy going game one, Because there's no guarantee
- 13:06Speaker 2: if you win and the Guardians win, you don't get
- 13:09Speaker 2: you don't still don't get the division.
- 13:11Speaker 1: So you're saying they're already in right, and this is
- 13:13Speaker 1: a fight for the division, which is essentially a fight
- 13:14Speaker 1: for home fields in the wildcard. I'm I'm saving Schooble,
- 13:20Speaker 1: what about you.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I'm probably gonna save them, probably gonna. I'm probably gonna
- 13:23Speaker 2: concede and say, you know what, I gotta fight a
- 13:25Speaker 2: bigger fight in two days.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Most scenarios I might do differently, but they're so Scoobale relying.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I know they've lost last three with him, but Kratz
- 13:35Speaker 1: I would save them.
- 13:35Speaker 3: What about you, I'd save them. You have to figure
- 13:39Speaker 3: out how to win once you're in. Doesn't matter if
- 13:42Speaker 3: you're the home or away team, you know, the hosting
- 13:46Speaker 3: team or not. You gotta win eleven games. I think
- 13:49Speaker 3: that's eleven now three. No, you gotta win thirteen games
- 13:54Speaker 3: from the wildcard. That's it, and one of them you can't.
- 13:59Speaker 3: You can't win third team without Scooball going as many
- 14:01Speaker 3: times as possible. Look how far they got last year
- 14:04Speaker 3: was scob.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so you save them, you need them for that
- 14:09Speaker 1: time period, and.
- 14:09Speaker 2: They have the tiebreaker, but they might need to win
- 14:13Speaker 2: at Astros. Yes, the Tigers have the type.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Astros are screwed on tiebreakers.
- 14:18Speaker 2: The Astros are two behind the Tigers right now, even
- 14:20Speaker 2: though they're only one because the tiebreaker so tough, tough
- 14:25Speaker 2: sleding for the Astros right now, especially after the way
- 14:27Speaker 2: they're swinging the bat us four games. It went out
- 14:31Speaker 2: to Sacramento and it did not look good last night.
- 14:35Speaker 1: That was a pitiful no. I mean it's hard. I'm
- 14:40Speaker 1: like slicing and dicing with games. I did watch a
- 14:44Speaker 1: good chunk of the game. Man, you watch, you watch
- 14:46Speaker 1: like Detroit and Cleveland, because Cleveland got a ton of
- 14:48Speaker 1: walk ups until they had thirty something thousand people, there
- 14:51Speaker 1: was a good vibe. And then you watch the game
- 14:53Speaker 1: in Sacramento and you hear every conversation going on on
- 14:56Speaker 1: the broadcast, and I mean, it feels like you went
- 14:59Speaker 1: from a major league game to a minor league game.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You see the guys running out to left field, the
- 15:03Speaker 1: whole bench to go take some swings. It's it's pathetic.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I just don't want to overlook that.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Yeah, Christian Walker wanted no part to do with a
- 15:12Speaker 3: Brent Rooker pop up. Nothing, And Correa is running in
- 15:17Speaker 3: and Hobbyer is looking around like nobody's gonna get it.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I guess I'll do what pitchers can't do and try
- 15:22Speaker 3: to catch us pop up. And it was like, I
- 15:24Speaker 3: mean it looked like high school pop up practice, like
- 15:27Speaker 3: went went be over as glovy, like I reached for it,
- 15:30Speaker 3: missed it. Not good, They're not they're not looking good.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You know, they're not scoring in Sacramento where you can
- 15:39Speaker 1: definitely pour it on.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Where you know you should get hot.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get to listen.
- 15:45Speaker 2: The thing about Sacramento is people have said it's not
- 15:47Speaker 2: a fun place to play, and my way Sacramento or Oakland, Sacramento,
- 15:51Speaker 2: a's whatever they o they're called now they hit their
- 15:53Speaker 2: over by the way, just.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Saying oh for wins. Yes, that was a big one,
- 15:57Speaker 1: a huge that was your five star. We all believed
- 16:01Speaker 1: it one and a half. We believed in you before
- 16:03Speaker 1: this one and a half. Okay, we believe I just
- 16:07Speaker 1: want to clarify. We believed in you before the season.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Then they lost like twenty in a row and we
- 16:11Speaker 1: didn't believe in you, and then we jumped back back.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Stay in the course with the Mets, and Mets did
- 16:15Speaker 2: last night.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I was bold. We were on with Mendy and
- 16:19Speaker 1: he was just like, Mendy, you're in, don't worry about it.
- 16:21Speaker 1: And he's like, okay, in no, you're in. Last night
- 16:25Speaker 1: we're going to spend a nice little second.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Red's loss too, and they got a schemes.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Today Skin's green. But yes, it's still it is not
- 16:34Speaker 1: very interesting.
- 16:35Speaker 2: It's not like we last time Hunter Green pitched. I
- 16:37Speaker 2: was there, he threw a cg out of no hit
- 16:40Speaker 2: or gave up one hit and they won one to
- 16:42Speaker 2: nothing like this. Reds offenses is potent.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Now their offense is trash, which we're going to get to.
- 16:48Speaker 1: But let's wrap up this segment because then we'll get
- 16:51Speaker 1: to the Al East. Shout out to Lids. They'll be
- 16:54Speaker 1: part of the mix with us for the next few
- 16:56Speaker 1: weeks on FT. Yes, krats, I'll talk you show off
- 17:01Speaker 1: the lid?
- 17:02Speaker 2: Do you am I allowed to show it? Am I
- 17:04Speaker 2: allowed to show?
- 17:06Speaker 1: Or do you tease it? Let's tease it, tease it
- 17:08Speaker 1: to the end. Okay, but abody know what.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Nobody knows what the team is. So everybody's got a
- 17:15Speaker 3: guess what Lids is it?
- 17:17Speaker 1: Send us a guests in the chat right now, We're
- 17:20Speaker 1: not that dumb. Text territory to two nine zero one

- 17:28Speaker 1: or apparel purchase at any US LID store. We'll do
- 17:31Speaker 1: crats hats. At the end, we'll also do a little
- 17:34Speaker 1: breaking of a tops chrome box that I have here
- 17:38Speaker 1: for AJ and I to enjoy again. Two nine zero
- 17:41Speaker 1: one seven you get yourself twenty percent off your next
- 17:43Speaker 1: headwear or aparell purchase at any US LID store. This
- 17:46Speaker 1: is how FT does what it does. Thanks the Lids
- 17:49Speaker 1: for supporting us during the stretch run of the season.
- 18:06Speaker 1: MVP chants for Aaron Judge from his teammates as they
- 18:09Speaker 1: celebrate clinching a postseason spot. And I'm sure there are
- 18:12Speaker 1: some Mariners fans that are bitter about it, but anyway,
- 18:17Speaker 1: congrats to the Yankees for clinching a postseason spot. They
- 18:20Speaker 1: certainly went through some ups and downs. The fan base
- 18:24Speaker 1: has been enraged at times this year.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they listen, they played. They didn't play great last night.
- 18:30Speaker 2: The White Sox helped them immensely in that game. There
- 18:32Speaker 2: was a fly ball that Judge and Grisham dropped and
- 18:35Speaker 2: calls to Montgomery hit a home run to give it
- 18:36Speaker 2: the White Sox will lead. And that was one of
- 18:39Speaker 2: the most White Sox ways ever to lose a game
- 18:41Speaker 2: by the way wild pitch or two two outs, and
- 18:43Speaker 2: then Michael A. Taylor's getting killed for not diving. Why
- 18:48Speaker 2: do you not dive for them? You're not the one
- 18:49Speaker 2: Aaron judge out two outs on that ball. You gotta
- 18:51Speaker 2: give it everything you got to try to get, don't.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I heard the catch probability, it was like fifteen percent.
- 18:56Speaker 2: What was better than if you at least try then
- 18:58Speaker 2: if you just let it drop and try to throw
- 19:00Speaker 2: the guy out, it's zero if you.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Don't try to catch it, right, I mean, you know what,
- 19:04Speaker 3: The throwout probability was zero, So I'd take the fifteen
- 19:08Speaker 3: for sure, and he like stutter step to try to
- 19:10Speaker 3: get there. Hey, he's a good center fielder. No nothing
- 19:14Speaker 3: against him, just in that moment. It was kind of
- 19:17Speaker 3: looked like he should have done.
- 19:20Speaker 1: In that kind of moment. Don't you dive even if
- 19:22Speaker 1: it's not because it's it doesn't matter.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's wild pitch three to two pound and
- 19:27Speaker 2: it's like walk vulting hit. It's like, oh my gosh,
- 19:31Speaker 2: what a white lose.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That was ft fam. It's still time for you to
- 19:37Speaker 1: check out what bathing suit you're wearing and why it's
- 19:41Speaker 1: not fair harbor. Can we get a little show and
- 19:43Speaker 1: tell from aerk krats?
- 19:46Speaker 3: Nice I mean, unfortunately, you can't even see all the
- 19:50Speaker 3: little intricacies. We got sharks, we got patterns, we got waves,
- 19:53Speaker 3: we got sailboats.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Oh, and they feel super buttery on your skin.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Can you show us the liner so people can understand
- 20:03Speaker 1: how it's different, because I've actually been talking it up.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I was different vacation.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I got the unique liner too, I got the I
- 20:10Speaker 3: got the baby Blue John.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Something about it. I don't know it like it pops.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Head to Fairharbor Clothing dot com slash foul twenty and
- 20:19Speaker 1: use code foul twenty foul two zero for twenty percent
- 20:22Speaker 1: off your order. Once again, that's Fair h A R
- 20:25Speaker 1: B O R Clothing dot com. Backslash foul twenty for
- 20:29Speaker 1: twenty percent off. Make sure you use that promo code
- 20:32Speaker 1: foul twenty so they know FT sent you. Also, let's
- 20:35Speaker 1: talk Blue Jays. We mentioned it to Ken, but Tan
- 20:37Speaker 1: Tander gets activated ty frant held with oblique inflammation and
- 20:42Speaker 1: Alec Manoah is dfaded. Ross Atkins, who runs the front
- 20:46Speaker 1: office along with Mark Shapiro, said it came down to
- 20:48Speaker 1: a roster crunch and depth that they chose others over him.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Blah blah blah. I mean they give up. They just
- 20:54Speaker 1: said we're done, We're not trying this anymore. We were
- 20:56Speaker 1: looking at numbers and triple A were okay, Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 2: He hasn't pitched effectively at the big leagues for how long?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Two years now plus three years.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Almost twenty twenty three, twenty twenty two is really good,
- 21:08Speaker 1: and then twenty twenty three.
- 21:09Speaker 2: He started getting hurt. Struggle number. So I mean, this
- 21:14Speaker 2: is like, yeah, it sucks for a Minoa. He's he
- 21:16Speaker 2: seems like a really good guy. But it happens fast, man,
- 21:20Speaker 2: It happens fast in baseball. And if he's not remember
- 21:23Speaker 2: he was out of shape and then he was hurt,
- 21:25Speaker 2: and it's just they were just tired of dealing with it.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And he doesn't he's not under contract. They can just
- 21:30Speaker 2: let him go.
- 21:30Speaker 1: And they did it, and another team is going to
- 21:32Speaker 1: scoop him up.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Some team's gonna scoom up, say we can fix them.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 2: The thing about Minoa is his stuff was never over
- 21:38Speaker 2: over the moon good. It was always like he was
- 21:40Speaker 2: a competitor and three strikes and he could locate. But
- 21:42Speaker 2: he lost the ability to do that. And so then
- 21:46Speaker 2: because if you ask people about him, they won't tell
- 21:48Speaker 2: you that his stuff is great. Right, stuff doesn't. He
- 21:50Speaker 2: has a good slider, but his other stuff doesn't rate great.
- 21:53Speaker 2: He has to compete and throw in a perfect spot
- 21:55Speaker 2: and he's not doing that. He gets wet.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's gonna be very interesting. What a freaking rollercoaster ride.
- 22:10Speaker 1: We talked to Carlos Mendoz on our show Mets Manager,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and then a few hours later his team is getting
- 22:15Speaker 1: smacked early on at Wrigley Field. They're down six to one,
- 22:19Speaker 1: they come back, they win the game. Edwin Diaz gives
- 22:22Speaker 1: them six outs. He was disgusting, five strikeouts, and the
- 22:27Speaker 1: Mets are now back in control of their own destiny.
- 22:31Speaker 1: How crazy was that game because the Mets were blowing
- 22:33Speaker 1: at early AJ We were texting about it like the
- 22:35Speaker 1: Mets were metsing. I mean, Sodo gets turned around on
- 22:38Speaker 1: a flyball and right that had a high catch probability.
- 22:42Speaker 1: McNeil had two terrible throws. David Peterson was brutal. Yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 1: on their best picture, but he has lost it lately.
- 22:52Speaker 1: His ra is eight four to two in his last
- 22:55Speaker 1: nine starts and he's probably not making another start. They
- 22:57Speaker 1: pushed up Nolan McClain to Thursday. He can pitch and
- 23:00Speaker 1: then also be lined up for a potential wildcard game.
- 23:03Speaker 1: He's now clearly their number one starter. But the Mets
- 23:06Speaker 1: offense came through here. You got to give them credit.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Nemo with a left on left homer, second time in
- 23:10Speaker 1: a week he's done that in a big spot. They
- 23:12Speaker 1: came through. Lindor had several key hits on a home
- 23:16Speaker 1: run to get things started, but also Keyrbi later to
- 23:19Speaker 1: out two strike RBI single off of Pomerantz to make
- 23:23Speaker 1: it seven to six. Then they tied it again. Then
- 23:25Speaker 1: Francisco Auverarez with the two run home run. That was
- 23:27Speaker 1: his Mets moment.
- 23:29Speaker 2: That was It was awesome. This is a great game
- 23:31Speaker 2: to watch if you were a Mets fan. The question
- 23:33Speaker 2: is is what do they have left for today? Because
- 23:35Speaker 2: they used every one of their dude yesterday Stantic check,
- 23:40Speaker 2: Soto check, Rogers, check, Ralely check, Diaz two innings check,
- 23:45Speaker 2: and Diazz pitched three games in a row. So that's
- 23:47Speaker 2: three out of four days because they had Monday off.
- 23:48Speaker 2: So it's even available today.
- 23:50Speaker 1: No, I doubt it.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Where was Horton? What on to Horton? Were they going?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Was he just on an innings limit?
- 23:54Speaker 1: So to Horton, like, what are we doing?
- 23:57Speaker 2: I mean, I get it the Cubs are already in,
- 23:58Speaker 2: but man, I would have liked, you know, you're trying
- 24:01Speaker 2: to ruin other people's lives here, Like you leave your
- 24:04Speaker 2: best guy.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Out there three innings, twenty nine pitches. It sounds like
- 24:07Speaker 1: he was sick, and then they said his back was
- 24:09Speaker 1: tightening up, so that combo and then the Cubs fans
- 24:12Speaker 1: are speculating online that they were trying to limit his
- 24:14Speaker 1: innings because he's young and he's going to be pitching
- 24:17Speaker 1: big playoff games for them. So there's all kinds of
- 24:20Speaker 1: rumors being spread, and the Cubs lose, meaning that Kratz,
- 24:25Speaker 1: the Padres have two lanes to get back to home
- 24:28Speaker 1: playoff games in the Wildcard round if they catch the
- 24:31Speaker 1: Dodgers or more likely the Cubs because they're one and
- 24:33Speaker 1: a half games back to in the lost column, but
- 24:36Speaker 1: they do hold the tiebreaker.
- 24:38Speaker 3: You do not all of the National League does not
- 24:40Speaker 3: want to have home games for the Padres, whatever they
- 24:43Speaker 3: can do. You do not want to play that team
- 24:45Speaker 3: in the playoffs at home. But Kate hort it probably
- 24:49Speaker 3: wouldn't have been very many rumors had like we got
- 24:51Speaker 3: some kind of solidified reason. But like he said, he
- 24:55Speaker 3: had trouble breathing. Then his back tightened up, Like what
- 25:02Speaker 3: is it? And and this is this is the issue
- 25:04Speaker 3: with what we talk about when we talk about schedule,
- 25:07Speaker 3: and Scott says, who would you rather be playing right now?
- 25:10Speaker 3: The Braves or the Nats? Who would you rather be
- 25:12Speaker 3: playing right You know, it's it's where you're playing them
- 25:14Speaker 3: at what time. The Cubs aren't mailing it in, but
- 25:18Speaker 3: they do have to figure out how to set themselves
- 25:22Speaker 3: up and get in to be the number one wild
- 25:25Speaker 3: card seed, but also to be able to set themselves
- 25:29Speaker 3: up to win that first Wildcard series. So I don't know,
- 25:34Speaker 3: but it was an ugly game. It was another ugly
- 25:36Speaker 3: game the Guardians and Tigers. They couldn't hit the Cubs,
- 25:42Speaker 3: and the Cubs and the Mets.
- 25:45Speaker 2: They couldn't pitch, yeah, they can they can hit the
- 25:49Speaker 2: Tigers face two aces, yeah, and Williams in school. So
- 25:52Speaker 2: saying they can't hit in general they're not hitting though
- 25:55Speaker 2: in general they're not. And then in this game there
- 25:58Speaker 2: was some questionable decisions I thought somewhere like what like
- 26:02Speaker 2: I said, Horton coming out, you know, bringing in this
- 26:04Speaker 2: guy or that guy to face this guy.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Mendy did a great job and you.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Did an awesome job because they won the game.
- 26:09Speaker 1: And you go ds six outs, no messing around, right.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Five out of the six out? Yeah, I mean it was.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Do you know Danzer for eleven with Yeah, I was
- 26:20Speaker 1: gonna bring that one ups. That's not good.
- 26:22Speaker 2: You don't. That's what you get Dancy for not scoring
- 26:24Speaker 2: on that ball I hit.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They're still on that from last week. Cubs clinched last Wednesday.
- 26:30Speaker 1: They have not won since. So it's only five games,
- 26:32Speaker 1: but at some point.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I mean, they got Boyd going tonight against Tom and
- 26:36Speaker 2: they got him and Auga who they need to step
- 26:38Speaker 2: up against McLean on Thursday. So listen, the Mets have
- 26:42Speaker 2: struggled against lefting of pitching all year, so we'll see.
- 26:44Speaker 2: But they will boy be on a limit because he's
- 26:47Speaker 2: gonna pitch in a postseason game. More than likely Mona
- 26:49Speaker 2: are gonna be on a limit like the Mets are hitting.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Maybe hitting the Cubs at the perfect.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Time schedule wise. Yeah, I mean, this is when you
- 26:57Speaker 1: want to run into a team that was coming off
- 26:59Speaker 1: of bad sweep against the Reds. You've got a half
- 27:02Speaker 1: prep for the playoffs. Right, if Kate Horton comes up
- 27:05Speaker 1: to you and says, back's feeling a little tight, I
- 27:08Speaker 1: can probably go. If you're the Cubs. In fairness, you say, okay,
- 27:12Speaker 1: you're coming out of the game because we need you
- 27:14Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Bro, Like, this game is cool, but
- 27:16Speaker 1: this game's not deciding our fate. So I get it,
- 27:20Speaker 1: you know, It's just it's tough timing for the Mets.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Though. Is Mendy punting on today's game? No?
- 27:29Speaker 1: Why would he be punting.
- 27:30Speaker 2: He can't punt on any game.
- 27:31Speaker 4: No.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I mean, he can't pitch Diaz, but he's got other arms.
- 27:35Speaker 2: He's gonna have to step up. Elsie's gonna have to
- 27:37Speaker 2: step up. It's Ryan Helsley time. Yep, it's time. It's time.
- 27:40Speaker 2: This is your chance, Ryan, all the things that have
- 27:43Speaker 2: been said and all the struggles you've had as a
- 27:45Speaker 2: met you know what, You go out there and if
- 27:47Speaker 2: they need you to go six outs, and you go
- 27:49Speaker 2: out there tonight and you get six outs for him
- 27:50Speaker 2: and they win the game, it all goes away, big
- 27:53Speaker 2: fella Hellsley.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Helsley feels more comfortable because they can't figure out he's not.
- 27:57Speaker 3: They're like he's not tipping, or we figure that out.
- 28:00Speaker 3: His v low's the same. What if they put Helsley tonight,
- 28:04Speaker 3: Mandy thinks, hey, you know what, he feels more comfortable
- 28:06Speaker 3: in the closer role. We know we don't have Edwin.
- 28:09Speaker 3: He stinks in the seventh and eighth inning. Might as
- 28:12Speaker 3: well blow Ed went out, not have him because he
- 28:15Speaker 3: wasn't gonna be to throw again anyway, because he was
- 28:17Speaker 3: already three days. He wouldn't throw him four in a row.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Helsley moves in. Maybe that jump starts healthy because he's
- 28:24Speaker 3: used to the ninth inning.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I agree, I've throw him in the ninth tonight. I
- 28:30Speaker 1: mean he has said he's not pitching tonight.
- 28:34Speaker 2: He should have him. He's gonna say he wants to pitch.
- 28:37Speaker 2: But I mean again, they used everybody. He used every
- 28:39Speaker 2: Proza ban So multiple Stantic pitched last night, Rogers, Pitch
- 28:46Speaker 2: Las Night, rarely pitched last night. I mean they he listened,
- 28:48Speaker 2: he went for he he knew. Plus it's what I
- 28:51Speaker 2: talked about yesterday. They look up there and they're an
- 28:54Speaker 2: hour behind. The Reds are already lost. So guess what,
- 28:57Speaker 2: here's our chance to get back and control our destiny. Boys,
- 29:01Speaker 2: we're going all in on this game. Tomorrow's tomorrow. But again,
- 29:04Speaker 2: this is where the time zones matter where you're playing
- 29:07Speaker 2: and what time you're playing.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Reds were trowling the whole game, right.
- 29:11Speaker 2: They fell behind four nothing early, and you don't think
- 29:13Speaker 2: that gave a fire to that match. Dug out Even
- 29:15Speaker 2: when they were down six to one, they're like, oh
- 29:17Speaker 2: we could. We still need to win this game. Boys.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Right, you're in the doug out, You're like, hey, guys,
- 29:21Speaker 1: we win tonight. We're back.
- 29:22Speaker 2: We're back.
- 29:23Speaker 1: That's it, we see it. It's on the screen. Diamondbacks
- 29:25Speaker 1: had a hell of a walk off to stay alive.
- 29:27Speaker 1: They're still a game back. We're gonna talk to Dylan
- 29:29Speaker 1: Hernandez about that game. In general, the Reds are twenty
- 29:33Speaker 1: and twenty three in their last forty three. They have
- 29:35Speaker 1: great weekend against the Cubs to sweep them, but they
- 29:38Speaker 1: were kind of lifeless last night. They lost four too.
- 29:40Speaker 1: They were down early and the ballpark looked pretty damn empty.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I think the announced attendance was solid, but it didn't
- 29:47Speaker 1: look that way.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Terry Francona City what got to the ballpark at nine
- 29:51Speaker 2: am because he was so excited.
- 29:52Speaker 1: In uniform, in uniform, but lifeless. I watched most of
- 29:58Speaker 1: that game because it started earlier. Elliet had a great game.
- 30:01Speaker 2: He's the only one that can hit right now.
- 30:02Speaker 1: That's it. I mean, look at their Him and Steer
- 30:06Speaker 1: are in a world of their own, and everybody else
- 30:09Speaker 1: is Man.
- 30:12Speaker 3: What happened to Matt McLean? Cabrian Hayes, we knew with
- 30:15Speaker 3: you again. I think I think that shoulder. I think
- 30:19Speaker 3: that shoulder takes more than a year to recover from.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I really believe Matt and hope Matt McLean's going to
- 30:26Speaker 3: be the dude like he should have been an All
- 30:28Speaker 3: Star two years ago before he heard his shoulder with
- 30:31Speaker 3: the thing over our over arching? Has the Great American
- 30:35Speaker 3: Ballpark turned into a pitcher's haven now? Like they have
- 30:38Speaker 3: one of the best pictures starting rotation ra The dudes
- 30:41Speaker 3: are making jumps and strides in their pitching. And the lineup,
- 30:46Speaker 3: which I thought was gonna be legit has gone over
- 30:50Speaker 3: the last two years.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That's true, and well they're building. It didn't look like
- 30:57Speaker 1: it though.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Almost thirty thousand was empty.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I'm going to say it with my chest. They looked
- 31:03Speaker 1: empty in the outfield. Hey, Bruce Bochi apparently was calling
- 31:07Speaker 1: out his team's focus and intensity. It kind of sounded
- 31:10Speaker 1: like he felt as if they were giving up, but
- 31:16Speaker 1: once they were swept by the Astros, it was done.
- 31:18Speaker 1: So is he talking about during that time period or
- 31:21Speaker 1: is he talking about like now where who cares? You know?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Like mathematically they just got a.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Mathematically they were alive. But yeah, do you still have
- 31:28Speaker 2: to play it like you can win?
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 31:29Speaker 2: I mean they've lost.
- 31:33Speaker 1: They fell apart that the Marlins dusted them, like what happened?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't know, but this is Boach just sending
- 31:38Speaker 2: a message like, hey, we need to be better than this. Okay,
- 31:42Speaker 2: I don't think Yeah, I think this is Boach if
- 31:45Speaker 2: he comes back next year sending a message like, hey guys,
- 31:47Speaker 2: we need to be better. Now they're without secret, they're
- 31:49Speaker 2: without sending. I mean, the little rascals can only do
- 31:51Speaker 2: so much.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Yeah, is not with them right now? Yep?
- 31:55Speaker 3: Do you think it was Do you think it was
- 31:58Speaker 3: directed at the players currently and their last five games?
- 32:02Speaker 3: I don't think it was just a one game thing.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Or do you think it was kind of what we've
- 32:07Speaker 3: wondered all year about the Rangers, like how focused are
- 32:09Speaker 3: they on winning games. We've heard a lot of stuff
- 32:12Speaker 3: about guys being focused on their individual stuff and then
- 32:16Speaker 3: when the game happens, Hey, you know what, we all
- 32:18Speaker 3: come out and we play together, and then we go
- 32:20Speaker 3: back to our individual stuff. Was it a larger comment
- 32:23Speaker 3: or was it just recently I've seen you guys not
- 32:27Speaker 3: playing very well, and I'm calling you out right now.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Because if that's the case, he's calling out a bunch
- 32:31Speaker 3: of dudes with not a lot of experience, no.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Playoffs the last couple of years after winning a World
- 32:37Speaker 1: Series in twenty twenty three. Yeah, it is interesting. It
- 32:40Speaker 1: does feel like something's missing there. The comments from Doc
- 32:43Speaker 1: Peterson were super interesting if you try and read between
- 32:46Speaker 1: the Lions. He felt like it was a very different
- 32:49Speaker 1: atmosphere there and had to get adjusted. They like you
- 32:52Speaker 1: get you get a lot of these show yes.
- 32:56Speaker 2: And it was different than any other team he had.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And got rushed for it for what for saying it
- 33:02Speaker 1: feels different. It's pathetic that people went after that. If
- 33:05Speaker 1: you look back, it's pathetic what you said it felt different.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Who cares? He's also just being truthful and then someone
- 33:12Speaker 1: on the team said the same damn thing.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Just now.
- 33:16Speaker 3: See why see why I took it, took offense to it.
- 33:19Speaker 3: So you know, there's something like if somebody brings something
- 33:22Speaker 3: up that's like not even a thing, like you'd be like,
- 33:24Speaker 3: what what is that guy talking about? But even see
- 33:27Speaker 3: why Chris Young came out and was like, oh you.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Know what he said.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You know he didn't really realize it, but it could
- 33:34Speaker 3: hurt the feelings of the guys here. And it's like,
- 33:37Speaker 3: so you're not saying are you saying he's not wrong?
- 33:41Speaker 3: What are you saying?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Also, you need people to come into a clubhouse and
- 33:45Speaker 1: tell it like it is. It's been a thing for years.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Somebody's got to say why, Yeah, that's why you bring
- 33:51Speaker 1: back crats. Let's talk about Omaha steaks. And it's not
- 33:54Speaker 1: just steaks, it's chicken winnings, it's smash Burger's, big Deli
- 33:58Speaker 1: style franks. There are a number of categories that you
- 34:02Speaker 1: can hit all in one place. They've been doing it
- 34:04Speaker 1: for a long time. They're the best of the biz.
- 34:06Speaker 1: And if you got a good full a life's good, man.
- 34:09Speaker 3: But you gotta finish every meal with some delectable desserts too.
- 34:13Speaker 3: They have those too, to go along with these delicious
- 34:16Speaker 3: Steaks mm hmm.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Apple caramel tarts on the list, among many other menu
- 34:21Speaker 1: items to check out. Be the hero that orders Omaha

- 34:49Speaker 1: at checkout sea site for details. Hot Corner Time Mariners,
- 34:57Speaker 1: We're gonna take the and a postseason spot. Technically they
- 35:02Speaker 1: don't have the division yet. Their magic number is one.
- 35:04Speaker 1: They score three in the eighth Nailer at the Big Knock.
- 35:06Speaker 1: He's been an awesome pick up as expected. I've always
- 35:09Speaker 1: been a big nailer guy. So they beat the Rockies
- 35:11Speaker 1: for to three. They pop bottles, they celebrate, but wait,
- 35:14Speaker 1: there's more. We all like to party at least US
- 35:18Speaker 1: three on this show. AJ they have an opportunity for
- 35:21Speaker 1: back to back champagne popping celebrations and they will live
- 35:26Speaker 1: it up to the fullest because the Mariners don't get
- 35:29Speaker 1: to do this as a franchise very often.
- 35:32Speaker 2: They haven't won the division since they won one hundred
- 35:33Speaker 2: and sixteen games in two thousand and one. One I
- 35:36Speaker 2: played against a team nineteen was ridiculously good and didn't
- 35:38Speaker 2: win crab in the postseason.
- 35:40Speaker 4: No, but.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Good for the Maryors, good for the Mirrors fans. I'll
- 35:44Speaker 2: see you guys at Alds Game one more than likely
- 35:47Speaker 2: out in Seattle. I can't wait. And then Sunday I
- 35:49Speaker 2: get to go watch the Bucks play the Seahawks, hopefully
- 35:52Speaker 2: double dip that day. I'm looking forward to my trip
- 35:55Speaker 2: out West. I love Seattle, I love the fans out there,
- 35:58Speaker 2: I love the ballpark. And listen, they're four up with
- 36:01Speaker 2: five to play. They're not losing that division and they
- 36:03Speaker 2: have this typebreaker, so they're five up with five to play, right, Yeah,
- 36:07Speaker 2: that's why the Magic Numbers won.
- 36:09Speaker 1: So yeah, it's over.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Congratulations Marriners, Congratulations Semen. You guys have won the West.
- 36:18Speaker 2: That's a funny word, but this is you have to
- 36:22Speaker 2: celebrate both as a team. Like when you celebrate, you
- 36:26Speaker 2: celebrate making the playoffs, because that's hard to do. You
- 36:29Speaker 2: work the whole season for it. When you win the division,
- 36:32Speaker 2: you celebrate a little harder. You celebrate a little harder.
- 36:36Speaker 2: You get the guys, and then you realize that the
- 36:39Speaker 2: last four games, because I think it'll happen tonight, the
- 36:42Speaker 2: last four games, you're getting your lineup set. You're I
- 36:45Speaker 2: don't know if cal Rowley catches another game. I wouldn't,
- 36:49Speaker 2: especially with what happened at J T last night. J
- 36:52Speaker 2: t Romuto took that foul ball off his hand.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You just.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I don't. I don't know how you play it, but
- 36:59Speaker 2: celebrate it, and I hope it happens tonight. I hope
- 37:04Speaker 2: it does. Two for my luck.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Yeah, someone and someone in the chat, does this panel
- 37:10Speaker 1: talk about the Mariners at all? Oh my gosh, If
- 37:13Speaker 1: I had, If.
- 37:13Speaker 2: I had the biggest lover of all time, if I
- 37:16Speaker 2: had and the pirates who loves.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Let me tell you, if I had a penny for
- 37:20Speaker 1: every comment that I get across all social media platforms.
- 37:24Speaker 1: You don't talk about this team enough. You don't talk
- 37:26Speaker 1: about that team. I think it's endearing because it just
- 37:28Speaker 1: means they're paying attention. They would like more love. But
- 37:30Speaker 1: there are thirty teams. We don't talk about them all equally.
- 37:33Speaker 1: You follow the storyline, you don't talk about the rock
- 37:36Speaker 1: We don't talk about at the beginning of the year.
- 37:38Speaker 2: We don't talk about them because they've been damn been
- 37:40Speaker 2: very good. They were talking about when they're relevant.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Yeah, well they were relevant relevant.
- 37:44Speaker 2: It's like it's like this. It's when you do a game,
- 37:47Speaker 2: we do the postseason games coming up. Okay, if I
- 37:51Speaker 2: whoever I am, lost, your Phillies and Mets, whoever team
- 37:53Speaker 2: is winning, that's the team you talk about because they're
- 37:56Speaker 2: doing things that make them win. So guess what you say, Hey,
- 37:59Speaker 2: the Mets winning, Mets beat the Phillies because this happened.
- 38:02Speaker 2: This happened. Oh why do you hate the Phillies. Well,
- 38:04Speaker 2: the Phillies didn't play very well. They lost, so I
- 38:06Speaker 2: can't pump them up, right, You can't pump up the
- 38:09Speaker 2: Phillies if they're not doing It's the same thing here.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Why we can talk about the Rockies. How about last
- 38:14Speaker 2: night the Rockies more than any other show.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Last night's game with the Mets and the Cubs, You'll
- 38:18Speaker 1: be if you were doing that game nationally, you'd be
- 38:20Speaker 1: smashing the Mets early on for all of the defensive mistakes,
- 38:24Speaker 1: and then you would praise them, and then you'd smash
- 38:26Speaker 1: the Cubs because you'd be like, why it is worting
- 38:27Speaker 1: out and look at the bullpen blowing it again. Blah
- 38:30Speaker 1: blah blah. That is just how it works to cover things.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Now, marks like the Astros the Tigers are like, thank you,
- 38:41Speaker 2: as that's the thing. This is collaps should probably be out,
- 38:45Speaker 2: but the Astros have done nothing to help their cause.
- 38:48Speaker 1: This Tiger's collapse has a really nice landing spot, which is.
- 38:52Speaker 2: The third wild card to go play.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Cleveland does and they could beat them there.
- 38:58Speaker 2: It's amazing. Usas are banged up like nobody's but they
- 39:01Speaker 2: got Hunter Brown going tonight, they got from Or going tomorrow.
- 39:04Speaker 2: I mean, they've got what they need and they're playing
- 39:07Speaker 2: Sacramento Severino tonight. Is that doesn't pitch going Sacramento. So
- 39:10Speaker 2: they got to win one before they can get win too.
- 39:13Speaker 1: They kind of have to win every game, yeah, I mean,
- 39:16Speaker 1: so they have five left, they have to win at
- 39:18Speaker 1: least four of.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Those, yeah, because they don't have the tiebreaker.
- 39:21Speaker 1: They don't have the tiebreaker on anyone, like even if
- 39:23Speaker 1: Boston falls apart the next few games. Because Boston and
- 39:25Speaker 1: Detroit are going to play each other, they don't have
- 39:27Speaker 1: the tiebreaker on them either. So this is harry for Houston.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I mean, what the only thing they do have aj
- 39:35Speaker 1: is on paper not difficult teams that they're facing right
- 39:40Speaker 1: But the A's right now are playing pretty well. They're
- 39:42Speaker 1: hidding so they beat him yesterday. So they got to
- 39:44Speaker 1: take down the A's these next couple games. Then they
- 39:46Speaker 1: have the Angels, not a good team right now, they
- 39:48Speaker 1: should be on the pitching, and then they need Detroit
- 39:52Speaker 1: or Boston to get swept because they play each other
- 39:54Speaker 1: at the end of the year. That would be the
- 39:57Speaker 1: big help for them.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Yeah, So I don't think that's gonna happen. I don't
- 40:01Speaker 2: think because if Boston's already got it locked up, they
- 40:03Speaker 2: might not be like, eh, we already got our playoffs
- 40:06Speaker 2: locked up.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Well, that's the case, although it's kind of what's interesting.
- 40:12Speaker 2: What's interesting about what I just said about me going
- 40:14Speaker 2: to Seattle is it won't be guaranteed if the Red
- 40:17Speaker 2: Sox are the sixth seed, Like if Detroit goes in
- 40:20Speaker 2: there and beats them and takes over the five seed
- 40:23Speaker 2: from the Red Sox, which is a real possibility. Then
- 40:27Speaker 2: that would be then I'd have to wait to find
- 40:29Speaker 2: out where I'm going because of Boston, because New York,
- 40:35Speaker 2: and well, because Toronto is the wild card.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Toronto doesn't have the division yet either.
- 40:40Speaker 2: If New York wins the division, and I'm definitely I
- 40:42Speaker 2: know I'm not going to New.
- 40:43Speaker 1: York right so there's a lot still to be decided,
- 40:46Speaker 1: is how we would sum things up. We also, I
- 40:50Speaker 1: do want to get this in there. On the Red
- 40:52Speaker 1: Sox that they won yesterday. We talked with Ken about
- 40:55Speaker 1: the whole fair foul thing that was one of the
- 40:57Speaker 1: most unlucky sequences by the way, so hey, Red Sox
- 41:01Speaker 1: get the job done, they win the game. But that's
- 41:03Speaker 1: two runs right there that went against the Toronto Blue
- 41:07Speaker 1: Jays for a ball that was fair called foul crats,
- 41:12Speaker 1: and then later in the bat a pitch two baseball's
- 41:15Speaker 1: off the plate is called a strike. Springer's like, okay,
- 41:18Speaker 1: I mean, uncle, what are we doing here? This is
- 41:21Speaker 1: not baseball.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I mean he's got his not comment but caught and mouthing,
- 41:27Speaker 3: oh well, don't they just give it to New York
- 41:29Speaker 3: shows shows they're looking, they're they're playing like this.
- 41:35Speaker 2: They're like, who is who was trying to catch it?
- 41:39Speaker 2: The Yankees? Oh, major League.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Baseball totally wants the Yankees to get in. We're totally screwed.
- 41:45Speaker 3: But it was it was a funny comment to me,
- 41:48Speaker 3: A funny comment from from Springer.
- 41:51Speaker 1: I agree, and so for the Red Sox they win.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Chapman of course, nails down another save. He's been money. Well,
- 42:03Speaker 1: there you go. Astros lose Red Sox leading by two
- 42:05Speaker 1: games in the wildcard sendings. This is Tim Healey. They
- 42:07Speaker 1: own the tiebreaker, basically a three game lead with five
- 42:09Speaker 1: to go. Can we also show the Tim Heey tweet
- 42:13Speaker 1: about Roman Anthony because it doesn't give Red Sox fans
- 42:18Speaker 1: a ton of hope until probably the ALCS. So here's
- 42:22Speaker 1: Craig Braslow leading the front office on Roman Anthony. At first,
- 42:25Speaker 1: you could look at him utel that he was in
- 42:27Speaker 1: quite a bit of discomfort and pain. That has subsided,
- 42:29Speaker 1: but there's still quite a bit of room to get
- 42:32Speaker 1: to in terms of baseball activity. Tim Healey covers the
- 42:35Speaker 1: team said his read is ALCS is extreme best case scenario,
- 42:41Speaker 1: not guaranteed. Offense is different without him in there. I
- 42:45Speaker 1: know he's a rookie, but he was the one guy
- 42:47Speaker 1: that was really.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Pushing him to try to get back and help your offense.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Just ash, yeah, just to get him because you need
- 42:56Speaker 2: him in the lineup. Wouldn't you think that they've trying
- 42:58Speaker 2: everything in their power saying all right, well, you know, jeez,
- 43:02Speaker 2: we need like Kyle Schwerber style, like we need him
- 43:04Speaker 2: in our lineup just no matter what he does.
- 43:06Speaker 1: But I don't o't bleak. But I said that again,
- 43:09Speaker 1: you just put him on the eye.
- 43:10Speaker 2: If he hurts it the first game, you just put
- 43:12Speaker 2: him back on the eye own say oh, he's done
- 43:13Speaker 2: for the year. But at least try.
- 43:15Speaker 1: I think they are trying. I think it just takes time.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I just feel like sometimes you know, this was this
- 43:23Speaker 2: is like all right, well, we're already looking in next year.
- 43:27Speaker 2: We don't want them good for I don't know. It's
- 43:28Speaker 2: it's weird because most teams right now are trying to
- 43:31Speaker 2: get their guys back, especially they're big guys.
- 43:33Speaker 1: He's like Preatus is playing with like one leg. Yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 1: Francisco Operas has eight fingers instead of ten. Yeah, he's
- 43:41Speaker 1: like broken two fingers and he's catching every day.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Do you know what I'm saying, like, yeah, again, I
- 43:46Speaker 2: don't know how you can't say how injured guys are.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I don't know the oblique. I mean you do. You
- 43:52Speaker 1: said it was really tough, but also you came back.
- 43:55Speaker 1: What was it during the season when you had it? Like,
- 43:58Speaker 1: was it in the middle of a season or was
- 44:00Speaker 1: at the end? And why you messed like two weeks? Right,
- 44:05Speaker 1: so this is more of a month track, just a
- 44:08Speaker 1: bad idea, right. But that's the thing They're like, we
- 44:11Speaker 1: don't want to do that. We got a lot of
- 44:13Speaker 1: money invested in this guy, and we don't want to
- 44:15Speaker 1: come back with him as the shell of himself.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's the playoffs, man, I don't know.
- 44:26Speaker 3: And another injury, another another oblique. How hard do you
- 44:30Speaker 3: push Jeremy Panya? The team is, the team is, offense
- 44:34Speaker 3: is completely different without him in it. He's a three
- 44:36Speaker 3: hundred hitter in the middle of that lineup, let alone
- 44:38Speaker 3: the fact that he plays shortstop. So other teams are
- 44:41Speaker 3: going through this right now, Boston. I hope Boston doesn't
- 44:45Speaker 3: say I think I think Roman Anthony's injuries pretty significant, clearly,
- 44:49Speaker 3: but I would hope they wouldn't say we got to
- 44:52Speaker 3: save him we got to make sure he's healthy for
- 44:54Speaker 3: the rest of his career. If there's any chance, I
- 44:56Speaker 3: think they're bringing him back, I truly do.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just a matter of when. I mean, do
- 45:02Speaker 1: you have to be in the Alcs or even potentially
- 45:04Speaker 1: the World Series until he can get himself back. It's
- 45:08Speaker 1: a tall task, so I know.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Yeah, especially didn't play every game. Freddy didn't play every game.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Freddy Freeman didn't play every game last year for the
- 45:17Speaker 3: Dodgers because of his his ankle, Like that's how he
- 45:20Speaker 3: was playing through it. And he wouldn't play every game,
- 45:23Speaker 3: which was crazy to me. The fact that he still
- 45:25Speaker 3: was able to play and win the MVP in.
- 45:27Speaker 2: The World Series.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, different injuries, though I love.
- 45:32Speaker 2: People in the chat are telling me that Lucas Giolito
- 45:34Speaker 2: last night was not good. How I mean, the.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Final line was good? No? What was he four? Was
- 45:42Speaker 1: he four and two thirds?
- 45:44Speaker 2: One run? Three hits? I mean he walked four guys,
- 45:47Speaker 2: but they didn't they scored one run.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Well, that is it because he was better than Gosman
- 45:52Speaker 1: who gave up four Is it because he gave up
- 45:54Speaker 1: the two runs but didn't And they're saying it doesn't matter.
- 46:00Speaker 1: It doesn't kill Yeah, exactly.
- 46:02Speaker 2: I don't get what are you talking about. He was
- 46:04Speaker 2: he was good, yeah, but he was good enough to win.
- 46:07Speaker 1: And he's been great for them. Yeah, he's been great
- 46:10Speaker 1: for them.
- 46:10Speaker 3: And with their bullpen, and with their bullpen, you're glad
- 46:14Speaker 3: you get four and two thirds. You're not pushing them
- 46:16Speaker 3: any farther. That's how he's going to go in the playoffs.
- 46:19Speaker 3: You're only pushing Garrett Crochet Beyo gives you four innings,
- 46:24Speaker 3: You're going to that bullpen. I know they've had a
- 46:26Speaker 3: blip recently, but you're going to that bullpen.
- 46:30Speaker 1: We love you.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Might as well go win the whole fucking thing.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Hey, cal language.
- 46:39Speaker 2: You just want you just punched the postseason. Who cares?
- 46:42Speaker 2: They've been there once? Oh, I don't give the last
- 46:43Speaker 2: twenty four years.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Yeah kidding, Say whatever you want, dude.
- 46:47Speaker 3: I thought that was Julio Rodriguez's town. Clearly, Clearly this
- 46:53Speaker 3: is cal Raley's town. And I hope Julio is fine
- 46:56Speaker 3: with that. I hope it takes a little bit of
- 46:57Speaker 3: pressure off and he can be second hand folio like
- 47:00Speaker 3: he is every year and doesn't need to feel the pressure.
- 47:02Speaker 2: But Cal has taken over the Northwest.
- 47:07Speaker 1: God Father you and me grew up in Jersey. We
- 47:09Speaker 1: liked to collect cards, but the way the process got
- 47:14Speaker 1: was ridiculous. You open up a pack, there's a bunch
- 47:18Speaker 1: of cards you don't care about. Then you want to
- 47:20Speaker 1: get certain ones graded takes forever right, then you want
- 47:23Speaker 1: to maybe sell one. It's such a to do. Arena

- 48:11Speaker 1: we have ft breaking news. It's coming from Jeff pass
- 48:14Speaker 1: in the Nationals finalizing a deal to name Paul to
- 48:17Speaker 1: Bonie their new head of baseball operations. To Bonie is
- 48:21Speaker 1: thirty five years old. He was a quick riser through
- 48:24Speaker 1: the Red Sox front office to become assistant GM. He
- 48:27Speaker 1: is in consideration for their GM job under Craig Breslo.
- 48:31Speaker 1: That's going on right now. So he was in the
- 48:33Speaker 1: running for that, but the Nats were like, hey, dude,
- 48:36Speaker 1: want to run the front office instead of being the
- 48:38Speaker 1: number two? And he said yes. More from passing for
- 48:42Speaker 1: a Nationals team in need of a serious infusion of talent.
- 48:44Speaker 1: It's worth noting that he ran the draft for Boston
- 48:47Speaker 1: when they chose Roman Anthony, Marcella Meyer, Christian Campbell, Peyton,
- 48:50Speaker 1: totally Connolly Early, and the prospects who went to Chicago
- 48:53Speaker 1: in the Garrett Crochet deal. That is a monster performance
- 48:56Speaker 1: over the last half decade.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Yeah, congratulations, Yeah, I know I think about congratulations.
- 49:03Speaker 1: I've been reading about him. So Ken Rosenthal and Britgeroli
- 49:06Speaker 1: have a story out. It just came out two minutes ago.
- 49:08Speaker 1: I'm kind of learning as we go here more about
- 49:10Speaker 1: the entire situation. Highly encourage you to check out the story.
- 49:13Speaker 1: They've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes
- 49:15Speaker 1: on all of this, but essentially that was the offercrats.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I think he would have gotten the GM job as
- 49:20Speaker 1: the real number two guy behind Craig Breslow, but for him,
- 49:24Speaker 1: he gets to be the number one guy. Remember they
- 49:26Speaker 1: also have Mike de Bartolow, who is the interim GM.
- 49:29Speaker 1: I don't know where he stands. Sometimes a guy will
- 49:31Speaker 1: keep someone like that on if he wants to stay,
- 49:33Speaker 1: at least for now, because I don't think that Bartolow
- 49:36Speaker 1: is getting a job elsewhere as the leader of a
- 49:38Speaker 1: front office. So it helps the continuation process. But I
- 49:42Speaker 1: think this is interesting. I mean, you certainly like the
- 49:44Speaker 1: track record of this guy.
- 49:47Speaker 3: I mean track records. He's had like two laps around
- 49:50Speaker 3: the track. He is young for this position. I mean,
- 49:53Speaker 3: obviously theo Epstein, you know, he was really young. But
- 49:56Speaker 3: I remember I was on the call when the Red
- 49:58Speaker 3: Sox did the draft and when I worked for the
- 50:01Speaker 3: Red Sox, and he was he was. Him and Rashardi
- 50:04Speaker 3: were one of the guys that were like kind of
- 50:07Speaker 3: leading up the call, and I was just listening and
- 50:09Speaker 3: I remember thinking, man, these guys are young. JP Rashardi's kid,
- 50:12Speaker 3: I forget his first name, but Paul was on that call,
- 50:15Speaker 3: and I was like, you know, it's it's amazing how
- 50:19Speaker 3: young these guys are. But men, do they get after it?
- 50:22Speaker 2: I don't.
- 50:22Speaker 3: I don't think anybody does amateur scouting. I feel like
- 50:25Speaker 3: those guys don't sleep. It's like they eat and they
- 50:29Speaker 3: type reports and they evaluate players. Is it Dante by
- 50:33Speaker 3: the way, I'm not Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 50:37Speaker 2: I don't know. I just know the kids.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Yeah, those are the Sun names whatever.
- 50:45Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 50:46Speaker 1: But but for Tiboni, I mean he was going up
- 50:49Speaker 1: against some probably more notable names because they've been around
- 50:54Speaker 1: for a while. So according to Kennon Bridge article, other
- 50:57Speaker 1: executives under consideration included Dodgers senior vice president Josh Burns,
- 51:03Speaker 1: Cleveland Guardians assistant JM. Matt Foreman, Cubs GM Carter Hawkins,
- 51:08Speaker 1: and Diamondback's assistant Jim Amuel Saude as long as as
- 51:13Speaker 1: well as Red Sox assistant general manager Eddie Romero were
- 51:16Speaker 1: also one who interviewed. Although I think some of these
- 51:19Speaker 1: names ended up turning the job down. I know you
- 51:22Speaker 1: guys had Josh Barfield on the show last week and
- 51:25Speaker 1: he was in consideration but said no. Right, okay, So hey,
- 51:32Speaker 1: first off, I want to stop for a second, and
- 51:33Speaker 1: I want to give a ton of credit to the
- 51:35Speaker 1: Washington Nationals for doing something that is so stupidly obvious
- 51:40Speaker 1: that you would think everyone in the top league for
- 51:44Speaker 1: baseball in the world would do, but they don't. They
- 51:47Speaker 1: interviewed a lot of candidates. Why, because you want to
- 51:51Speaker 1: gather intel. It is your opportunity to talk to people
- 51:55Speaker 1: who have secrets and insights from what they're doing. It
- 51:59Speaker 1: is a no bring when you have this opportunity, and
- 52:02Speaker 1: not every organization does this. Most of them do because
- 52:06Speaker 1: they have a brain, but some of them don't. It
- 52:08Speaker 1: is a free opportunity for information. Right, if somebody's super
- 52:12Speaker 1: smart who was at the top of their craft or
- 52:14Speaker 1: at the top of their industry, AJ came up to
- 52:16Speaker 1: you and said, hey, do you want my free advice,
- 52:19Speaker 1: I'll sit down and have a lunch with you. Right,
- 52:20Speaker 1: Let's say you're an aspiring CEO of a tech company,
- 52:23Speaker 1: and a tech company CEO says, hey, I'll have lunch
- 52:27Speaker 1: with you It's like saying, nah, I don't want to
- 52:29Speaker 1: I don't even want to talk to you. It is
- 52:31Speaker 1: brain dead to do that. The Nationals took the correct
- 52:34Speaker 1: route to talk to people, even if they thought this
- 52:37Speaker 1: was their guy all along. You still talk to six
- 52:39Speaker 1: seven eight people. Why wouldn't you?
- 52:41Speaker 2: You know, if I was in charge of a team,
- 52:44Speaker 2: I'd say, give me, give me look at organization and
- 52:46Speaker 2: give me your best Give me a folder full of
- 52:48Speaker 2: your best ideas on how to fix this organization. And
- 52:51Speaker 2: you can get a bunch of ideas and maybe one
- 52:53Speaker 2: of them sticks, and maybe maybe you hire them also
- 52:57Speaker 2: as assistant GM. If you other they get along with
- 53:00Speaker 2: the guy you hire. I don't know, but it's a
- 53:02Speaker 2: great way to steal free information. And I'm all about
- 53:04Speaker 2: getting free information, and you can get it for nothing.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Barfield, by the way, said no to Baltimore. That's my bad.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Because there are a few different front office jobs open
- 53:12Speaker 1: right now. The Red Sox are interviewing for their GM job,
- 53:14Speaker 1: and that includes internal conversations. Craig Breslo is still the leader.
- 53:18Speaker 1: They call it CBO with the Red Sox because they're
- 53:21Speaker 1: special for some reason. Most teams call it President Baseball operations.
- 53:25Speaker 1: But that's going on with the Orioles as they're looking
- 53:27Speaker 1: for a GM next to Mike Elias, who's the President
- 53:30Speaker 1: of Baseball Operations. But back to Tiboni for a moment, Kratz,
- 53:35Speaker 1: this is President of Baseball Operations. This isn't GM. There
- 53:37Speaker 1: had been reports that they were looking for one or
- 53:40Speaker 1: both if they were going to pry him away from
- 53:43Speaker 1: the Red Sox. It looked like it had to be
- 53:45Speaker 1: not only the guy to run the front office, but
- 53:47Speaker 1: for the label to be President of Baseball Operations. The
- 53:50Speaker 1: Nats are one of the cheaper organizations when it comes
- 53:52Speaker 1: to paying gms and coaches. But still I'm sure there's
- 53:55Speaker 1: like a like a a basement number, right, a base
- 54:00Speaker 1: line number where it's like, okay, even if we want
- 54:02Speaker 1: to pay you at the bottom of the barrel for
- 54:04Speaker 1: President Baseball Operations, that's still going to be, you know,
- 54:07Speaker 1: higher than the GM number.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Yeah, the lowest President Baseball Operations would be higher than
- 54:14Speaker 3: the highest GM. And the names have changed. I mean
- 54:17Speaker 3: I remember when guys were hired as a GM. Sam
- 54:19Speaker 3: Fuld was hired as a GM, and I was like, WHOA,
- 54:22Speaker 3: You're the general manager. Ran At the same time, Dombrowski
- 54:25Speaker 3: came in and I was like, wait a minute. So
- 54:28Speaker 3: teams have reshuffled that naming rights. But either way, are
- 54:33Speaker 3: the Gnats going to try to do something with their
- 54:36Speaker 3: draft similar to what they the Red Sox did? Is
- 54:41Speaker 3: that what they're is that what they're hoping for because
- 54:43Speaker 3: the Nats really haven't produced guys in their draft. They've
- 54:46Speaker 3: drafted one ones and they've traded for guys. You got
- 54:50Speaker 3: to produce in the draft, you got to produce in
- 54:52Speaker 3: the minor league system, and that's something that that's haven't
- 54:55Speaker 3: done well.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:57Speaker 1: In Ken and Britt's article, they said the Nationals since
- 55:02Speaker 1: twenty thirteen have drafted and developed two players with career
- 55:07Speaker 1: wars above five, and they're going off the Baseball Reference
- 55:10Speaker 1: war two players. Neither of those players are with the
- 55:13Speaker 1: organization anymore. I don't think you'll get the names just
- 55:16Speaker 1: because you'll go, oh wow, I forgot so wait since
- 55:22Speaker 1: No No drafted, so I think he's counted as a sign.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I mean, that's where it gets a little tricky because
- 55:29Speaker 1: they did twenty f no. But but internet, they're talking
- 55:33Speaker 1: about draft drafted players and they're both pitchers that were
- 55:36Speaker 1: in the organization. I don't think you're going to get
- 55:39Speaker 1: either of them. I wouldn't right off the top top No.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Strasbourg was probably drafted before twenty thirteen. So I'll give
- 55:46Speaker 1: you the names Nick Povetta and Jesus Lozardo. That's it.
- 55:52Speaker 2: I forgot both those guys are even with that organization
- 55:54Speaker 2: I know now. I don't even know Didata even played
- 55:56Speaker 2: for the Nationals.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Ever, I don't think so.
- 55:58Speaker 2: He went to the Phillies and was the mazar illustraded too.
- 56:03Speaker 1: And Mozara was traded. Now they had a monster trade.
- 56:06Speaker 1: They nailed their trade in my mind for Juan Soto,
- 56:10Speaker 1: so it's not like they did nothing and that.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Was the Bartolo.
- 56:15Speaker 3: People are gonna say it was Rizzo, but from what
- 56:17Speaker 3: I heard from inside the organization to Bartolo was the
- 56:20Speaker 3: was key behind that Sodo trade.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Okay, So now it's Paul Taboni. Just in summary, he
- 56:28Speaker 1: had been promoted a billion times already within the Red
- 56:30Speaker 1: Sox org. He's thirty five years old. He gets to
- 56:32Speaker 1: run the Washington Nationals, so probably have a new owner
- 56:35Speaker 1: at some point over the next few years too, and
- 56:38Speaker 1: I'm sure they'll want to keep him on board if
- 56:42Speaker 1: he brings the success over drafting like he did with
- 56:44Speaker 1: the Red Sox. All right, we're back, I ft fam
- 56:46Speaker 1: And by the way, can we show the code one
- 56:48Speaker 1: more time just for a lid to shout him out.
- 56:50Speaker 1: First day of the partnership with them, and we appreciate
- 56:54Speaker 1: the little seamless transition as as they're sponsoring some of
- 56:58Speaker 1: our segments. Here heading into the post c and territory
- 57:01Speaker 1: is the word two nine zero one seven. If you
- 57:03Speaker 1: want to go get yourself some new merch pail headwaar,
- 57:06Speaker 1: et cetera, twenty percent off if you text that code. Okay, well,
- 57:11Speaker 1: we have a couple of minutes here.
- 57:13Speaker 3: What another day, I'm gonna wear They sell some Mitchell
- 57:15Speaker 3: and Ness stuff too. It at lydds, I'll wear one
- 57:18Speaker 3: of my Mitchell and Ness shirts. People be people kind.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Of like it.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Yes, next time we do a segment, let's see it.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I want to show this logan web tweet real quick.
- 57:36Speaker 1: I haven't seen it, so we're all going to learn
- 57:38Speaker 1: about it together.
- 57:40Speaker 2: He was not please.
- 57:42Speaker 1: He was not pleased. Actually I can.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Click into it like it was just more disappointed.
- 57:46Speaker 1: He said, this is the most frustrating all the times
- 57:49Speaker 1: the Giants have missed playoffs in his career. Has had
- 57:50Speaker 1: no offense to the teams we've had before. But this
- 57:53Speaker 1: is the most talented team I've been on. I think
- 57:54Speaker 1: there were a lot of expectations and it sucks.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's baseball. There's been good teams have missed
- 58:02Speaker 2: the playoffs. I've been on them. There's been bad teams
- 58:03Speaker 2: that make the playoffs. I've been on them.
- 58:06Speaker 1: If they sold, if they didn't sell out the trade deadline,
- 58:09Speaker 1: would that have made a difference to you.
- 58:11Speaker 2: I don't think they were expecting the Mets to collapse.
- 58:14Speaker 2: They weren't go anywhere with the guys.
- 58:15Speaker 1: They had so five hundred, they're so five hundred for
- 58:20Speaker 1: a long time.
- 58:20Speaker 2: The division, the division was there too.
- 58:24Speaker 3: Padres haven't played as well, Dodgers clearly haven't played as well.
- 58:28Speaker 3: The wild card was their path to the playoffs. But
- 58:34Speaker 3: the teams are beatable, not unlike at the beginning of
- 58:37Speaker 3: the year. I don't know if they're beatable or not,
- 58:38Speaker 3: but they're They're returning to a lot of guys. They're
- 58:42Speaker 3: set up to make a run if they make the
- 58:45Speaker 3: right moves, get some off. Keep saying in San France.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Full season of devors helps a Ton Williadamis was scorched
- 58:56Speaker 1: at the beginning of the year for his performance. They
- 58:58Speaker 1: actually look at his numbers now, they're pretty close to
- 59:01Speaker 1: what he puts together almost every year. Like last year
- 59:05Speaker 1: he was a three point one war This year he's
- 59:07Speaker 1: at three point three, which is better than it's been
- 59:10Speaker 1: since twenty twenty two ops plus one oh nine, very
- 59:14Speaker 1: close to what it's been the last few years. Like
- 59:16Speaker 1: he's put up the same damn numbers park adjusted that
- 59:19Speaker 1: he's done in the past. So I know there were
- 59:22Speaker 1: fans all over his case. I don't think they should
- 59:25Speaker 1: be anymore. Plus, he brings a lot of energy to
- 59:27Speaker 1: the team. Him and Drew Gilbert in a clubhouse. That's
- 59:29Speaker 1: a lot of talking. And last but not least, I'm
- 59:34Speaker 1: watching Skeens in Green.
- 59:36Speaker 2: Of course Skeens is gonna.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Shove because this is the closest thing he's getting to
- 59:41Speaker 1: a big playoff vibe.
- 59:43Speaker 3: Right, Please don't pull him out early, Please don Kelly,
- 59:49Speaker 3: don't whatever the ORG says, Let this man cook, give
- 59:53Speaker 3: him the reins, let him get one epic start in
- 59:57Speaker 3: even though the season's over.
- 59:59Speaker 1: This is his yes, right, AJ if your schemes do
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: you do you say something to the front office.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: You do, say I want to pitch this is my
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: chances is my last start of the year. Let me yeah,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: I ain't pitch it again this year. I met.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I agree. I'm excited for that one plenty of get
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: great games to watch. Last night was super fun. We'll
