- 0:00Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:01Speaker 2: Stu Gatz.
- 0:01Speaker 3: Woo!
- 0:02Speaker 4: I got to be honest with you, Bruce, there's a
- 0:03Speaker 4: good chance I'd be high anyway.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Woo! And I'm wondering how the football weekend was. Were
- 0:07Speaker 2: you able to watch it? Wow, what happened? Oh, I'm
- 0:11Speaker 2: tired of him. I'm serious. How about that? In company.
- 0:15Speaker 5: We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Woo!
- 0:17Speaker 6: Bruce, does Faison Brandon's name sound like it's on backwards?
- 0:20Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 0:21Speaker 6: It's time to get your.
- 0:23Speaker 6: It's time to get your racket to get the all boat,
- 0:27Speaker 6: the all boat. You got nothing right there. This is
- 0:29Speaker 6: not going well.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is still gots and company. Still back to you.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm surrounded by Yankee fans.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Not one of them has smiled, including Ricky Mantle to
- 0:39Speaker 4: my left here. Everyone is upset. The Yankees lose. The
- 0:43Speaker 4: Yankees get robbed. The Yankees are out of the postseason.
- 0:47Speaker 4: I don't know if Taylor, this is what he told me, Mikey. Hey,
- 0:50Speaker 4: Just give me the ball. I said, Taylor, what are
- 0:52Speaker 4: we doing today? He said, it's one of those days.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Just pass me the ball. And I will pass him
- 0:56Speaker 4: the ball here in just a second. But I'm not
- 0:58Speaker 4: certain if Taylor is a little bit happy because he
- 1:01Speaker 4: feels vindicated about his takes on this year's New York
- 1:05Speaker 4: Yankees team.
- 1:05Speaker 2: No?
- 1:06Speaker 6: No?
- 1:06Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 1:08Speaker 6: Because you know when people say, I hate to say
- 1:12Speaker 6: I told you so, but they didn't actually hate to
- 1:14Speaker 6: say I told you so?
- 1:15Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:15Speaker 6: This is actually a case where I do hate to say,
- 1:18Speaker 6: I told.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You so nobody would.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Have loved to be more wrong for when Trent Grisham
- 1:23Speaker 6: comes up in the ninth inning, be a hero. Trent
- 1:26Speaker 6: Grisham hit the walk-off home run, force a game for no,
- 1:30Speaker 6: but it was just a fitting end to the season
- 1:31Speaker 6: where Trent Grisham, the worst leadoff hitter in all of
- 1:35Speaker 6: baseball strikes out. He finishes The ALDS 0 for 11. Also,
- 1:40Speaker 6: great job by Trent Grisham there in that moment, that
- 1:42Speaker 6: first pitch, Mikey. It's called a strike. It was clearly
- 1:45Speaker 6: a ball. Saving his challenge with two outs in the
- 1:47Speaker 6: ninth inning of an elimination game. I'm guessing he thinks
- 1:50Speaker 6: it carries over to next season when he's on the
- 1:53Speaker 6: Pittsburgh Pirates. You know, on the topic of Trent Grisham,
- 1:57Speaker 6: you know when I knew that game was over?
- 1:59Speaker 7: When?
- 1:59Speaker 2: 3.55 p.m.
- 2:02Speaker 7: Yes.
- 2:03Speaker 6: Not the first inning. Not when the Rays scored. Not
- 2:07Speaker 6: when that fan interfered with the Volpe hit. 3.55 p.m.
- 2:12Speaker 6: when the lineup was announced. Trent Grisham leading off. Statistically...
- 2:17Speaker 6: The worst leadoff hitter in all of baseball. And Aaron Boone,
- 2:20Speaker 6: in an elimination game, backs against the wall with the
- 2:23Speaker 6: entire season on the line, decided, this is the guy.
- 2:26Speaker 6: Trent Grisham is the guy that I want getting the
- 2:28Speaker 6: most plate appearances. You can make a better argument today, Stu. Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 6: that Trent Grisham shouldn't have been in the lineup at
- 2:35Speaker 6: all than you can for him batting leadoff ahead of
- 2:38Speaker 6: Ben Rice.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Did he make any sort of changes to the lineup?
- 2:42Speaker 4: Because Gary Sheffield was on with us yesterday. He told
- 2:45Speaker 4: us some of the changes he.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Would have made. Did Boone do any of that?
- 2:48Speaker 6: He put Volpe in at second, which we've been begging for.
- 2:51Speaker 6: He took Ryan McMahon out, which we've been begging for.
- 2:54Speaker 6: They went with a more offensive approach and still, you know,
- 2:58Speaker 6: sputtered to, what, three runs in that game?
- 3:01Speaker 5: It tripled the output, man.
- 3:03Speaker 2: It tripled the output.
- 3:04Speaker 5: We got three runs.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Yes, you got to give Gary credit. I mean, perhaps
- 3:08Speaker 4: he should be the next Yankees manager.
- 3:10Speaker 6: Yeah, and getting, I mean, the big move was putting
- 3:13Speaker 6: Trent Grisham in the leadoff spot where it's like, Trent Grisham,
- 3:17Speaker 6: leave your Jersey at the door on your way out
- 3:19Speaker 6: of the clubhouse. Actually, actually, Keep your jersey on. If
- 3:24Speaker 6: it gets you out of town any faster, consider it
- 3:27Speaker 6: a parting gift. I am so— Wait a second.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Time out.
- 3:31Speaker 4: How would him keeping his jersey on get him out
- 3:34Speaker 4: of town any faster?
- 3:35Speaker 6: Because he doesn't have to stop at his locker and
- 3:37Speaker 6: take the whole uniform off. Keep the uniform off.
- 3:40Speaker 5: You don't even have to stop at the locker.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Just keep going.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Plus, if he walks around in that jersey today around
- 3:45Speaker 4: New York City, he won't have to escort himself out
- 3:48Speaker 4: of town.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Someone will just kick him out, right?
- 3:50Speaker 8: Listen, you go out, you take a right, you can
- 3:52Speaker 8: get the B or the D. If you take the left,
- 3:53Speaker 8: you can get the four train.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Just get out.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Yeah, don't collect $ 200. Keep on going on this Monopoly board.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Hop on the seven, join the Mets.
- 4:01Speaker 6: Yeah, oh my God. Yeah, be somebody else's problem.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Please!
- 4:05Speaker 6: I am so sick of this baseball team. I'm so
- 4:09Speaker 6: sick of watching. the same movie every single October, knowing
- 4:13Speaker 6: exactly how it ends. At this point, I'm rooting for
- 4:16Speaker 6: the lockout. I hate to say to somebody who loves baseball,
- 4:20Speaker 6: I don't want to watch this team and I don't
- 4:21Speaker 6: want to watch baseball. If the owners and the players
- 4:23Speaker 6: want to fight over money and cancel games, the players
- 4:26Speaker 6: don't want a salary cap, be my guest. Save me
- 4:29Speaker 6: from myself for having to watch another 162 games of
- 4:33Speaker 6: this garbage just to arrive at the same destination. Let's
- 4:36Speaker 6: go lockout.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yankee fans, put it on the poll, Taylor. I'm rooting
- 4:43Speaker 2: for the lockout.
- 4:43Speaker 4: That's still got 790 on X. Yankee fans, are you
- 4:49Speaker 4: rooting for a lockout? Just Yankee fans. I only want
- 4:54Speaker 4: to hear from Yankee fans because they're so depressed today.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Mikey, how you feeling?
- 5:00Speaker 8: I'm a little more resigned than Taylor was. I don't
- 5:04Speaker 8: think I had the hope that he had when we,
- 5:07Speaker 8: when we, when we made the playoffs, I just think
- 5:10Speaker 8: it's such a fitting end that our season came down
- 5:14Speaker 8: to the young guy gets on base. Spencer Jones gets
- 5:18Speaker 8: on base in the ninth inning. There's your tying run.
- 5:21Speaker 8: And then it comes down to jazz Chisholm and Trent Grisham.
- 5:25Speaker 8: And as soon as I saw those two were the
- 5:27Speaker 8: next up and Ben Rice was going to be left
- 5:30Speaker 8: on deck with the game on the line.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I knew it was over. I knew it was over.
- 5:34Speaker 5: There was nothing.
- 5:35Speaker 8: There was nothing that, surprised me about how that game went.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Right.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It is funny.
- 5:41Speaker 4: There are a ton of things for Yankee fans to
- 5:44Speaker 4: be upset about, and I understand. The home run being
- 5:47Speaker 4: called back. I get all of it, right? The lineup, Cashman,
- 5:51Speaker 4: Aaron Boone. I get all of it. But really what
- 5:53Speaker 4: happened last night, and really the guy you should be
- 5:55Speaker 4: disappointed in, is Max Fried.
- 5:57Speaker 2: No. No, Taylor, come on.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Absolutely not.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Absolutely not. Guys, you're down 2-0. You paid this guy
- 6:05Speaker 2: a lot of money.
- 6:06Speaker 4: You brought him in for exactly this moment at home
- 6:09Speaker 4: at Yankee Stadium, and he.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Gives up four runs in five and two-thirds. He has
- 6:13Speaker 2: to be better. I'm sorry. He has to be better.
- 6:15Speaker 6: So I do agree with the fact that Max Freed
- 6:17Speaker 6: has to be better. But Max Freed, on the list
- 6:20Speaker 6: of problems for this Yankee team and why this Yankee
- 6:22Speaker 6: team is going home, Max Freed is probably like 25th
- 6:26Speaker 6: on my biggest problem.
- 6:28Speaker 4: I understand that. Specifically to last night, though, he was
- 6:32Speaker 4: a problem. Like you want to jump out to a lead.
- 6:34Speaker 4: You want your pitcher to be an ace.
- 6:36Speaker 2: He is an ace. And he wasn't an ace last night.
- 6:39Speaker 8: Listen, we talked about it with Gary Sheffield yesterday. The
- 6:42Speaker 8: problem is, once that all happens, he starts trying to
- 6:45Speaker 8: be perfect. And once you try and be perfect and
- 6:48Speaker 8: you don't just trust your stuff, that's when you make mistakes.
- 6:51Speaker 8: And he knew he had to try and be perfect,
- 6:54Speaker 8: and it failed. And I don't blame him at all.
- 6:57Speaker 8: I've said you could get Bellinger, Rice- uh spencer jones
- 7:02Speaker 8: george lombard and the starters everybody else can go right
- 7:05Speaker 8: everybody else can go off this team.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah i kind of want volpe though you're like fine.
- 7:11Speaker 9: He's utility he's utility he's not a starter yeah but
- 7:14Speaker 9: i think volpe is the starting second baseman next.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Year yes he's going to be volpe at.
- 7:17Speaker 6: Least has proven like he cares about this you you
- 7:20Speaker 6: hear him in the post game and saying like i've
- 7:22Speaker 6: been on the other end of this now too many
- 7:24Speaker 6: times like it's embarrassing like We're the New York Yankees.
- 7:27Speaker 6: And Volpe, to his credit, he does rise to the
- 7:30Speaker 6: moment every time in the postseason.
- 7:32Speaker 5: He struck out in the ninth. Literally when it mattered
- 7:35Speaker 5: the most, he struck.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Out in the ninth.
- 7:37Speaker 6: He also had their biggest hit of the game.
- 7:39Speaker 2: He did, Mikey. I mean, you can't blame Volpe today.
- 7:41Speaker 8: You said he rises when it matters the most.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Tell me when it matters the most than the ninth
- 7:47Speaker 5: inning down one run.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I mean, last night he hit a home run that
- 7:50Speaker 4: was taken back. He did not hit a home run.
- 7:52Speaker 5: He hit a double.
- 7:53Speaker 8: Everybody's making too big a deal about the fan interference, okay?
- 7:58Speaker 8: Nothing changed about what happened other than a guy got
- 8:01Speaker 8: kicked out.
- 8:02Speaker 5: That's the only thing that changed.
- 8:05Speaker 2: They are unhinged.
- 8:07Speaker 9: They are very upset. I think they're arguing with each other,
- 8:09Speaker 9: which is great. No, we're trading angry.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 6: The problem right now is.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Anger soothes anger.
- 8:17Speaker 6: Yeah. The problem right now is we're arguing about the
- 8:20Speaker 6: micros with this Yankee team when it's really the macros
- 8:23Speaker 6: where the Tampa Bay Rays proved that they were the
- 8:27Speaker 6: superior team over the course of 162 games in the
- 8:30Speaker 6: regular season. And then they went out and proved it
- 8:32Speaker 6: again in the postseason, validating their regular season where... The
- 8:36Speaker 6: Tampa Bay Rays should be afraid of the New York Yankees.
- 8:38Speaker 6: The Yankees spend roughly three times as much money as Tampa,
- 8:43Speaker 6: and yet we're the ones sitting here at the end
- 8:45Speaker 6: of our season wondering how are we supposed to beat them,
- 8:48Speaker 6: and it comes down to the fact that the Yankees
- 8:50Speaker 6: are the most... Arrogant organization in all of baseball where
- 8:54Speaker 6: the Yankees, Brian Cashman, Aaron Boone, they're so above contact.
- 8:59Speaker 6: They look at the idea of putting the ball in
- 9:02Speaker 6: play and laugh at that notion like contact hitting. That's
- 9:05Speaker 6: for the organizations that can assemble a lineup of mashers.
- 9:09Speaker 6: It's just so arrogant. And you look at right now
- 9:13Speaker 6: where we're at in baseball.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 6: The three teams that led MLB in batting average this season,
- 9:19Speaker 6: the Brewers, the Rays, the Dodgers, all three are playing
- 9:22Speaker 6: in the championship series. What a coincidence that is. Apparently,
- 9:25Speaker 6: apparently Stugatz, they've been playing baseball for however many years now.
- 9:30Speaker 6: Apparently putting the ball in play is still pretty important.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, batting average is back.
- 9:38Speaker 6: The Yankees numbers in the 2026 ALDS.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:39Speaker 6: 130 batting average, 192 on-base percentage, 239 slugging percentage, 431 OPS.
- 9:48Speaker 6: Those are the lowest batting average on-base percentage, slugging percentage,
- 9:51Speaker 6: and OPS the New York Yankees have ever recorded in
- 9:55Speaker 6: a multi-game postseason series.
- 9:57Speaker 10: Ever.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Mikey, I know he's your teammate today, but do you
- 9:59Speaker 4: find it... ironic do you find anything funny about the
- 10:02Speaker 4: fact of him touting batting average when he is a
- 10:05Speaker 4: month removed from saying he couldn't stand Tony Gwynn you
- 10:09Speaker 4: know what this Yankee team could.
- 10:11Speaker 5: Have used A little freaking Tony Gwynn.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Give me a Tony Gwynn. Give me a Wade Boggs
- 10:20Speaker 6: in front of Ben Rice. Hey, Mikey, we're watching this yesterday.
- 10:26Speaker 6: Four of the past five seasons now have ended with
- 10:29Speaker 6: another team celebrating at Yankee Stadium. And the one exception
- 10:34Speaker 6: is 2023 when the Yankees didn't even make the playoffs.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Where Yankee Stadium, it's supposed to be this house that
- 10:40Speaker 6: represents winning and championships and the most successful franchise in
- 10:43Speaker 6: the history. of American sports. And all of a sudden,
- 10:47Speaker 6: it's becoming everybody else's favorite place to throw a party.
- 10:49Speaker 6: And every October, we're watching somebody else celebrate on our
- 10:52Speaker 6: field where Junior Caminero is out there making broom-sweeping motions.
- 10:56Speaker 6: The Rays are mocking us singing New York, New York
- 10:59Speaker 6: in the visitor clubhouse. Why are our fans more embarrassed
- 11:04Speaker 6: than people running this organization? And why does it bother
- 11:07Speaker 6: me and Mikey a more than it seems to bother
- 11:09Speaker 6: Brian Cashman?
- 11:10Speaker 2: Uh, Taylor put it on the pole. I still got
- 11:12Speaker 2: seven on access.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Yankee stadium become a place where other teams come to celebrate.
- 11:21Speaker 8: I would argue that this loss, this series, this sweep
- 11:28Speaker 8: is far more embarrassing than the Dodgers loss two years
- 11:31Speaker 8: ago in the World Series. I think this is far
- 11:34Speaker 8: more embarrassing. At least you look at the Dodgers and
- 11:36Speaker 8: you go, hey, Freddie Freeman beat you. Hey, Shohei Otani
- 11:39Speaker 8: beat you.
- 11:39Speaker 2: A bigger payroll beat you.
- 11:41Speaker 5: It didn't look good.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:43Speaker 8: If you ask an average baseball fan to name four
- 11:46Speaker 8: players on this Rays team, they're not.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Going to be able to do it. And they made
- 11:50Speaker 5: the Yankees look terrible.
- 11:52Speaker 8: And you trotted out Cam Schlittler, who's going to win
- 11:56Speaker 8: the AL Cy Young, and he lost. You trotted out
- 11:59Speaker 8: Garrett Cole, who's... one of the better pitchers of this generation,
- 12:04Speaker 8: and he lost. And you trotted out Max Fried, and
- 12:08Speaker 8: he lost. You threw Giancarlo Stanton up there twice to
- 12:11Speaker 8: watch him wave at pitches. This is one of the
- 12:15Speaker 8: most embarrassing losses, and you were the only team to
- 12:18Speaker 8: make the division series.
- 12:19Speaker 5: That got swept.
- 12:22Speaker 8: This is far more embarrassing to me than losing in
- 12:25Speaker 8: the World Series the way they did two years ago.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Taylor, just hear me out here.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I know this is not what you want to discuss today,
- 12:31Speaker 4: but Max Freed, just hear me out, okay? He was
- 12:34Speaker 4: brought in from the Braves two years ago, and I
- 12:35Speaker 4: just want to give you the postseason stats on Max
- 12:38Speaker 4: Freed because he was, what was he, 19-5 last year?
- 12:42Speaker 2: He was good.
- 12:43Speaker 4: 21 innings for the Yankees in the postseason, 22 hits,
- 12:46Speaker 4: 12 runs. That is awful, Taylor, awful. And you're not
- 12:51Speaker 4: kicking him out of town, just poor Trent Grisham. It's again, it's,
- 12:57Speaker 4: it's like, it's the bigger issues with this team. Like even,
- 13:01Speaker 4: even if cam or had his best stuff in game one,
- 13:04Speaker 4: even if Garrett Cole had his best stuff in game two,
- 13:07Speaker 4: The way this Yankee team has constructed their offense has
- 13:11Speaker 4: been absolutely horrific. They have no plans for any offense
- 13:14Speaker 4: where you're looking at this log jam at first base.
- 13:18Speaker 4: We ran it back with a, however old Paul Goldschmidt
- 13:21Speaker 4: is probably 55 at this point.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Old Schmidt.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah. You have Ben Rice, who is a bad
- 13:32Speaker 6: fielder at first base. He cannot play in the field.
- 13:35Speaker 6: So he has to now be the DH. But the
- 13:37Speaker 6: problem is, Giancarlo Stanton also has to be the DH.
- 13:41Speaker 6: And you brought in Luis Garcia, who can only play
- 13:43Speaker 6: first base, which is the position that you're putting Ben
- 13:46Speaker 6: Rice to try to hide Ben Rice in the field. Oh,
- 13:48Speaker 6: but you also spent all spring training telling us that
- 13:50Speaker 6: Ben Rice was a catcher. And Ben Rice didn't catch
- 13:53Speaker 6: one inning this season where this, yes, Max Freed was bad. Yes,
- 13:58Speaker 6: the starting pitching left a bit to be desired in
- 14:01Speaker 6: this series.
- 14:01Speaker 4: I just didn't want to leave him out in terms
- 14:03Speaker 4: of who is the blame pie.
- 14:04Speaker 5: The blame pie.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:05Speaker 2: 3%.
- 14:06Speaker 6: Max Freed, 3% yesterday.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:07Speaker 8: 3%.
- 14:07Speaker 2: 3% blame pie.
- 14:08Speaker 6: I'm okay with that. 97.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Wait, you're the decider of blame pie?
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yes. I mean. Okay.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Well, Taylor's the decider, but I'm just saying.
- 14:18Speaker 2: No, I think you should be. No, I think you
- 14:20Speaker 2: should be. It's okay.
- 14:21Speaker 6: Fair enough.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Taylor's in charge of enough around here. You know what, Taylor?
- 14:24Speaker 5: I want a full blame pie. I want 100% blame pie.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:28Speaker 6: For you on how you're doing.
- 14:30Speaker 2: This is easy. 3% free.
- 14:32Speaker 6: Oh, wait, actually.
- 14:33Speaker 5: We're down to 97% here. Yes.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Plenty of pie left, though. So, I'm going.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Somebody's going to have to keep track of this. 3%
- 14:42Speaker 6: for Max Freed.
- 14:43Speaker 2: All right, I'm writing it down. Hold on a second.
- 14:45Speaker 4: I passed you the ball so I can write things down.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Hold on. 3% Max Freed. Yep.
- 14:50Speaker 6: 2% that fan in left field.
- 14:52Speaker 2: 2% fan in left field. Well, hold on a second.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Fan in left field.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Disagree.
- 14:57Speaker 2: 0%. That ball wasn't going out of the park.
- 14:59Speaker 6: I don't think it was going out. Right.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But.
- 15:01Speaker 6: Have a little situational awareness.
- 15:02Speaker 7: It did nothing.
- 15:03Speaker 6: Have a little situational awareness.
- 15:04Speaker 11: Yes.
- 15:05Speaker 2: It did nothing.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Know that replay is being installed and know that you're
- 15:09Speaker 4: not going to have a Jeffrey Mayer moment.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Yes.
- 15:10Speaker 7: Yes.
- 15:11Speaker 6: So now I'm at 95%. All right.
- 15:13Speaker 4: So wait, hold on. 3% free, 2% fan.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:16Speaker 4: I have some good news for Taylor to make him
- 15:18Speaker 4: happy here. I'll let him know about it in a
- 15:20Speaker 4: couple of minutes. Keep going with your pie.
- 15:22Speaker 6: I'm going 15% Trent Grisham. Okay, so 15. Because he's terrible.
- 15:28Speaker 2: 15, Grisham, who's on his way out of town. That's 18.
- 15:31Speaker 2: That's 20%. You have 80% of the pie left.
- 15:34Speaker 6: I'm going 10% Jazz Chisholm.
- 15:35Speaker 2: 10% Jazz. Can't stand him.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Okay, can't stand Jazz. So you have 70% left.
- 15:43Speaker 6: 70% will split it half and half, Aaron Boone, Brian Cashman,
- 15:47Speaker 6: because I think they're the two biggest culprits right now
- 15:51Speaker 6: in terms of putting up with this organization where, I'm
- 15:55Speaker 6: sitting on my couch yesterday and I'm absolutely disgusted. I'm
- 15:58Speaker 6: watching another team celebrate once again on the field at
- 16:01Speaker 6: Yankee Stadium.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 6: And the people... In my mind, I'm disgusted, but I
- 16:06Speaker 6: know in the back of my mind, the people responsible
- 16:08Speaker 6: for putting this team together are just going to come
- 16:10Speaker 6: back and do it all over again next season.
- 16:13Speaker 7: Right.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Or.
- 16:14Speaker 6: Even worse, they're taking weeks off to go play Survivor
- 16:18Speaker 6: in Fiji. I said I was rooting for Mike Pinsky
- 16:21Speaker 6: in Survivor.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I lied.
- 16:22Speaker 6: I hope he gets blindsided worse than anybody has ever
- 16:26Speaker 6: gotten blindsided in 51 seasons of Survivor. I hope his
- 16:30Speaker 6: closest ally takes a metaphorical shift to him when he
- 16:33Speaker 6: least expects it.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Are you hoping that Pinsky doesn't come back? Because I
- 16:38Speaker 4: believe he's already back, right?
- 16:39Speaker 6: He's back already.
- 16:40Speaker 2: He survived it.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Yes, the pre-taped. I hope there's a plot twist coming
- 16:45Speaker 6: in this season where he gets completely blindsided.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Would you mind doing me a favor just on a
- 16:50Speaker 4: piece of scrap paper? I want you to tweet out
- 16:53Speaker 4: on social media. Just put your blame pie. Make it
- 16:59Speaker 4: as sloppy as you want. Let's put your blame.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Pie for the Yankees.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Out on social media because it's funny he's doing it
- 17:06Speaker 4: right now no but i want a pie taylor i'm.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Gonna okay i'm just writing down what.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Slices yes i love a good pie.
- 17:12Speaker 6: So i don't want it to say 35 boone 35
- 17:16Speaker 6: cashman well you did already no.
- 17:17Speaker 5: I want 36 34 no.
- 17:19Speaker 6: I don't want it to say 35 35 i want
- 17:21Speaker 6: them to be in the same slice of the pie
- 17:23Speaker 6: and it says 70 percent Okay. With both their faces.
- 17:28Speaker 8: On.
- 17:28Speaker 2: You're drawing now?
- 17:29Speaker 6: Yeah, because I want it to be very clear that
- 17:32Speaker 6: they are the majority here.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I understand your frustration.
- 17:35Speaker 4: It seems like those guys could do whatever they want,
- 17:37Speaker 4: not make it to the World Series, not win a
- 17:39Speaker 4: World Series, and the Yankees haven't done that in quite
- 17:41Speaker 4: some time, and they'll be right back there doing the
- 17:43Speaker 4: same old jobs that they've been doing forever.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I get that. That's frustrating.
- 17:47Speaker 6: And the worst part about yesterday, the worst thing that
- 17:50Speaker 6: could have happened was Aaron Judge getting hurt. Because not
- 17:54Speaker 6: only is losing Aaron Judge devastating, of course it is.
- 17:57Speaker 6: He's a three-time MVP. But because now, Mikey, we know
- 18:02Speaker 6: Brian Cashman has his built-in excuse. We know exactly what's coming. Oh,
- 18:06Speaker 6: they're going to throw their hands up. Well, we didn't
- 18:08Speaker 6: have Aaron Judge. We were missing our best player. It's
- 18:10Speaker 6: hard to win in October without your superstar. And everybody
- 18:13Speaker 6: in that front office, all the yes-mans, all the Mike
- 18:15Speaker 6: Pinskys in that office, they're going to nod their heads,
- 18:18Speaker 6: push pen to paper, and Cashman will go back to
- 18:21Speaker 6: his office. Boone will come back next season. We'll do
- 18:23Speaker 6: the whole thing again. There's just no accountability and no consequences.
- 18:28Speaker 2: He's losing his marbles, man. Jesus Christ.
- 18:31Speaker 6: And let's not forget. This offense was already one of
- 18:35Speaker 6: the worst offenses in baseball without Aaron Judge this season. Yes.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Aaron Judge is feeling pretty good about himself, though. I mean,
- 18:41Speaker 4: whether he wants to admit it or not, he probably
- 18:44Speaker 4: is today.
- 18:45Speaker 6: Yeah, but I feel the worst for Aaron Judge today
- 18:47Speaker 6: because you're looking at next season.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Just in terms of his own value. Yes. That's what
- 18:51Speaker 2: I meant.
- 18:51Speaker 6: Yes. Aaron Judge. he's going to be 35 years old
- 18:54Speaker 6: next season. And it's like, when are we going to
- 18:56Speaker 6: have the conversation that the New York Yankees have completely
- 18:59Speaker 6: wasted the prime of one of the greatest right-hand hitters
- 19:02Speaker 6: in the history of baseball? And like, how many, how
- 19:05Speaker 6: many years are we going to ask this guy to
- 19:06Speaker 6: carry the entire organization on his back? Yeah.
- 19:10Speaker 8: We, we mocked the angels for years for wasting Shohei
- 19:14Speaker 8: Otani and Mike Trout.
- 19:16Speaker 5: The Yankees are doing no better. with Aaron Judge. They're
- 19:19Speaker 5: doing no better.
- 19:20Speaker 8: They got him nothing. They brought in Giancarlo Stanton on
- 19:25Speaker 8: the tail end of his career.
- 19:28Speaker 5: No they didn't know.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Better i think the season before mvp i mean mikey
- 19:31Speaker 4: also they went to a world series i mean the
- 19:34Speaker 4: angels didn't even get the.
- 19:35Speaker 8: Playoffs you paid for the things he did you didn't
- 19:38Speaker 8: pay for what he got vlad guerrero jr would have
- 19:41Speaker 8: a grand old time on this team.
- 19:43Speaker 6: So mikey's point we do highlight like how inept the
- 19:46Speaker 6: Angels ownership has been. The angels have one world series
- 19:50Speaker 6: in the past 26 years. The Yankees have one world
- 19:53Speaker 6: series in the past 25 years too. And it's like, they,
- 19:56Speaker 6: they have wasted Aaron judges prime where Aaron judge is
- 19:59Speaker 6: supposed to be the centerpiece of a championship team. Instead,
- 20:02Speaker 6: he's the only thing keeping this entire organization afloat and
- 20:07Speaker 6: from being exposed for what they actually are. This Yankee
- 20:09Speaker 6: team is frauds. Like there there's no better word to
- 20:12Speaker 6: describe this Yankee team right now than frauds, where if
- 20:14Speaker 6: you want to understand the Aaron Boone error, Under Aaron Boone,
- 20:17Speaker 6: the Yankees are 1-7 in postseason series against teams that
- 20:20Speaker 6: finished ahead of them. And then they're 7-0 in postseason
- 20:23Speaker 6: series against teams that finished with the worst regular season record.
- 20:27Speaker 6: This is just who the Aaron Boone Yankees are. Where
- 20:29Speaker 6: me and Mikey A, let's just be clear with one thing.
- 20:33Speaker 6: We are not asking for the core four 90s Yankees
- 20:36Speaker 6: baseball to return. We're not asking for a dynasty. We're
- 20:42Speaker 6: not asking for four championships in five years.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 20:45Speaker 6: We are just asking the Yankees to start acting like
- 20:48Speaker 6: a championship organization because the only thing right now that
- 20:51Speaker 6: they're elite at is just making excuses and feeding the
- 20:55Speaker 6: fan base just a BS narrative every offseason. And congratulations
- 20:59Speaker 6: to Tampa Bay. You deserve it. You built a better
- 21:02Speaker 6: team for a fraction of the price. For a fraction
- 21:05Speaker 6: of the price.
- 21:05Speaker 2: If I told you.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Blind test these two teams one of these two teams
- 21:12Speaker 6: payroll is 300 plus million and the other is a
- 21:15Speaker 6: third of it you would have guessed the yankees were
- 21:18Speaker 6: were the team that was a third of.
- 21:20Speaker 4: I probably would have guessed the Yankees were the team
- 21:22Speaker 4: that were responsible for two-thirds.
- 21:25Speaker 6: Just for the play on the field?
- 21:27Speaker 2: The play on the field was not great. I understand that.
- 21:29Speaker 2: The Rays are a good baseball team.
- 21:31Speaker 4: They're fundamentally sound.
- 21:33Speaker 2: They go about their business.
- 21:35Speaker 4: They're as good, or I should say they're as impressive
- 21:37Speaker 4: to me as just about any organization in sports. Just
- 21:40Speaker 4: because of the way they operate, the amount of money
- 21:43Speaker 4: they have to operate with. and the fact that they're
- 21:45Speaker 4: usually relevant. So I understand your frustration losing to that team.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I do.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I don't know what you guys want me to tell
- 21:50Speaker 4: you to soothe you. I understand why you would be upset.
- 21:52Speaker 4: I would just tell you that just about every fan
- 21:55Speaker 4: base would 1,000% take what it is you guys get
- 21:59Speaker 4: every year, and that's the postseason.
- 22:01Speaker 2: That's what you get every year, whether you win or not.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Fan base. No, that is, that is the last thing I.
- 22:06Speaker 11: Want to hear today.
- 22:07Speaker 8: The last thing I want to hear today is, Hey,
- 22:09Speaker 8: you guys make it every year. I don't care about
- 22:11Speaker 8: being relevant, relevant. I care about winning championships. That's the
- 22:16Speaker 8: only thing I care about.
- 22:17Speaker 2: You're the most relevant team in sports, man.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Mikey, I hate to break you. You're saying this is
- 22:22Speaker 6: not who we are. This, this is who the Yankees
- 22:24Speaker 6: are at this point.
- 22:26Speaker 8: And that's not who I am. That's not who Yankee
- 22:29Speaker 8: fans are. That's who that organization, that front office is.
- 22:32Speaker 8: That front office is perfectly okay winning 90-plus games, sneaking
- 22:37Speaker 8: into the playoffs. Hey, maybe the AL East is down
- 22:40Speaker 8: this year and we win the division. And maybe it's
- 22:42Speaker 8: not and we'll get a wild card. We're guaranteed a
- 22:44Speaker 8: wild card every year because they made three of them.
- 22:47Speaker 8: And now, all of a sudden... They just run into
- 22:51Speaker 8: much better teams, much better constructed teams to win. They
- 22:55Speaker 8: are a team that is built to beat up on
- 22:57Speaker 8: the bottom half of the AL Central.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Stu, isn't it ironic that we are very clearly heading
- 23:04Speaker 6: towards a path where we're heading towards a lockout? It
- 23:07Speaker 6: seems like the lockout at this point is inevitable, and
- 23:10Speaker 6: the main reason is the little teams want a chance
- 23:13Speaker 6: to compete, and the little teams need to show that
- 23:16Speaker 6: they can fight back against the Dodgers.
- 23:18Speaker 2: All that's left is little teams. The three teams, the.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Three teams left in the American league are 27th, 28th
- 23:27Speaker 6: and 29th in the MLB and payroll. The only team
- 23:30Speaker 6: below them, the Miami Marlins.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Who incidentally have the same amount of world series victories
- 23:38Speaker 4: since 2000 as the Yankees.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Throw that in there. Oh, boy. What did
- 23:49Speaker 2: Sal say yesterday?
- 23:50Speaker 4: I don't recall anyone in the media, certainly not in
- 23:54Speaker 4: New York media, yesterday bringing back up Jeffrey Mayer. And
- 23:59Speaker 4: somehow I remember Sal saying those words. I don't even
- 24:03Speaker 4: know what he was talking about. Let's play the sound
- 24:05Speaker 4: here from Sal, who was on with us yesterday.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Sal Licata.
- 24:08Speaker 10: At home where a pop-up to right field could be
- 24:10Speaker 10: a grand slam like come on this is a big
- 24:12Speaker 10: difference here with yankee stadium with all those lefty bats
- 24:15Speaker 10: they just have to get one in the air in
- 24:16Speaker 10: right field and it's going to be gone and if
- 24:18Speaker 10: not a fan will catch it and bring it back
- 24:19Speaker 10: jeffrey mayer style like you've got to expect the yankees
- 24:22Speaker 10: at home to have different offense here with everything in.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Their favor nailed it to sal's credit.
- 24:31Speaker 6: I think you could have listened to you know, the
- 24:34Speaker 6: full lineup of shows yesterday on New York sports radio,
- 24:37Speaker 6: you could have listened to WFAN all day. You could
- 24:39Speaker 6: have listened to ESPN, New York all day. I'm fairly confident.
- 24:43Speaker 6: Not one person, not one host. across that tri-state area.
- 24:48Speaker 12: Yes.
- 24:48Speaker 6: Even uttered the word Jeffrey Mayer.
- 24:50Speaker 2: He should get his job back at the fan.
- 24:54Speaker 6: That was like Babe Ruth walking up to the plate
- 24:58Speaker 6: and doing the call your shot here.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Where it was like.
- 25:01Speaker 6: He pointed to a fan. Sal invoked the name Jeffrey Mayer.
- 25:06Speaker 6: It was like, oh, Jeffrey Mayer. That's a reference from
- 25:09Speaker 6: the 90s from a series against the Baltimore Orioles. Nothing
- 25:13Speaker 6: about that is relevant in the past.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Three decades since that moment happened.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Well, they put replay in. I was going to say,
- 25:21Speaker 2: it's not relevant now. That would have been a home
- 25:24Speaker 2: run without the replay, right?
- 25:26Speaker 11: Yes.
- 25:27Speaker 6: The closest thing we've had to the Jeffrey Mayer situation
- 25:29Speaker 6: was probably that World Series moment where the fans along
- 25:32Speaker 6: the right field line was like, fighting who was it
- 25:35Speaker 6: Mookie Betts those guys were.
- 25:37Speaker 13: Just idiots I mean those guys are just it's a
- 25:40Speaker 13: stadium full there's a difference between the balls coming at
- 25:42Speaker 13: me and I want to reach out to grab it
- 25:44Speaker 13: right and I could clearly see it in his glove
- 25:46Speaker 13: and I'm going to rip it out.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Okay like all right how's the pie chart coming along
- 25:51Speaker 4: there we're working on it did you guys were you
- 25:55Speaker 4: so uh were you so frustrated and angry that you
- 25:57Speaker 4: couldn't sleep you stayed up and watched that Padre game No.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Oh my God. What a moment.
- 26:05Speaker 4: You guys miss the moment of the post season where
- 26:08Speaker 4: Manny Machado thought he had hit a home run. I
- 26:12Speaker 4: think it was the bottom of the eighth and the
- 26:13Speaker 4: announcers were saying, this is going to be the last
- 26:15Speaker 4: chance to score because this is the only good.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Part of their lineup.
- 26:18Speaker 4: And I think they were down a run Machado. There
- 26:20Speaker 4: was a man on base. He hit it to straightaway
- 26:23Speaker 4: center field. He got all of it. Guys, he got
- 26:26Speaker 4: all of it. He was so confident it was going out.
- 26:29Speaker 4: He had bubble gum in his mouth. The second he
- 26:30Speaker 4: hit the ball, he blew a bubble. And he was celebrating.
- 26:35Speaker 4: He thought it went out. The wall in San Diego
- 26:38Speaker 4: is not big enough. It's just not tall enough. It
- 26:40Speaker 4: stayed in the park. The catch was made, and the
- 26:43Speaker 4: Padres end up losing that series. It was an amazing,
- 26:46Speaker 4: breathtaking moment. Machado, the range of emotions from thinking you
- 26:51Speaker 4: have done what they brought you here to do, and
- 26:54Speaker 4: then a guy taking that moment away from him.
- 26:56Speaker 6: It's crazy when you see moments like this where you're thinking,
- 27:00Speaker 6: as a neutral, postseason baseball is probably only second to,
- 27:05Speaker 6: the Stanley cup playoffs, I would say like the Stanley
- 27:08Speaker 6: cup playoffs are, are pretty awesome in terms of rising
- 27:11Speaker 6: to the moment. Post-season baseball feels like they rise to
- 27:14Speaker 6: the moment more, more often than not. And it's like, man,
- 27:17Speaker 6: if I was a neutral, that that's such a great game.
- 27:19Speaker 6: And then I'm looking at it as a Yankee fan,
- 27:21Speaker 6: Padre fans are probably looking at it. Like, yeah, we
- 27:24Speaker 6: absolutely hate our lives.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:27Speaker 6: And we're in the sick part, this, the sickest part
- 27:30Speaker 6: about saying like, Oh, how miserable I am today as
- 27:33Speaker 6: a Yankee fan. It's like, I'm already counting down the
- 27:36Speaker 6: days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training.
- 27:40Speaker 4: It was 3-1. They were down 2 in the ninth.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Machado would have tied it up. That goes out in
- 27:47Speaker 4: just about any other park. I mean, or if he
- 27:49Speaker 4: hits it to any other part of the field, right?
- 27:51Speaker 4: Straight away center field.
- 27:52Speaker 2: You guys don't want to talk about this today.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Mikey, what's the only thing I could do? Taylor's in
- 27:58Speaker 4: such a bad mood. I know you are as well.
- 28:01Speaker 4: How can I make Taylor happy? What would you suggest?
- 28:04Speaker 4: Something that would make Taylor happy today? Because I have
- 28:07Speaker 4: an idea.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:10Speaker 11: A Nick.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You read my mind. How about a Nick's legend?
- 28:16Speaker 5: I don't care enough.
- 28:17Speaker 6: I'm leaving.
- 28:19Speaker 2: You're that upset.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Yes.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I feel so bad.
- 28:24Speaker 5: Call Izzy or something. I'm not talking to a Nick.
- 28:26Speaker 5: I don't care.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I will.
- 28:28Speaker 4: You get out of here, and I'll bring in Izzy,
- 28:30Speaker 4: and I'm going to try to make Taylor happier by
- 28:32Speaker 4: bringing on John Stark's New York Knicks legend.
- 28:35Speaker 2: He'll join us next.
- 28:47Speaker 4: One of my favorite basketball players and athletes growing up,
- 28:50Speaker 4: John Starks is with us. He is with us on
- 28:52Speaker 4: behalf of Pepsi. John, thank you for joining us. And
- 28:55Speaker 4: tell us, what are you doing with Pepsi and the
- 28:57Speaker 4: New York Knicks?
- 28:59Speaker 7: Well, we're introducing the PepsiX Knicks Championship can, which is
- 29:06Speaker 7: to celebrate and commemorate what the Knicks have done last
- 29:10Speaker 7: year in winning the championship.
- 29:14Speaker 2: How emotional? I'm sorry, go ahead.
- 29:16Speaker 7: Yeah, go ahead. Sorry about that. Go ahead.
- 29:19Speaker 4: I was going to ask you, how emotional were you
- 29:21Speaker 4: when the Knicks won that championship? I am a lifelong
- 29:24Speaker 4: Knicks fan. My executive producer said Jalen Brunson has changed
- 29:27Speaker 4: his life. We're going to play a song that he
- 29:28Speaker 4: put together about Jalen Brunson for you in just a second.
- 29:31Speaker 4: We were emotional. I was crying in my daughter's arms.
- 29:35Speaker 4: What was John Starks doing when the Knicks won that title?
- 29:39Speaker 7: I was so excited. Myself, Patrick, Clyde, as well as Allen,
- 29:47Speaker 7: we were sitting up in the.
- 29:47Speaker 11: Stands when all that unfolded in game five at the
- 29:53Speaker 11: end of the game.
- 29:55Speaker 7: Once it was over, we just all hugged each other
- 29:59Speaker 7: And it was just a celebration like no other, you know,
- 30:03Speaker 7: just to see us finally getting it done, you know,
- 30:07Speaker 7: after 53 years of waiting. And to be up there
- 30:12Speaker 7: with the last champion in Clyde Drexler, it was just
- 30:19Speaker 7: a special moment. And just to watch all the Knicks
- 30:23Speaker 7: fans celebrate in San Antonio, it was just amazing.
- 30:28Speaker 14: John, when you look at Jalen Brunson and just what
- 30:31Speaker 14: he's done at his size and obviously leading the Knicks
- 30:34Speaker 14: to a championship and after, you know, you mentioned 50
- 30:37Speaker 14: some years, where does he sort of rank in your
- 30:40Speaker 14: eyes in terms of one of the greats, one of
- 30:42Speaker 14: the great point guards, period? Because I think people underestimated
- 30:45Speaker 14: him so far. I don't think you can underestimate him anymore.
- 30:50Speaker 7: No, you just scale on that to make him. You know,
- 30:52Speaker 7: he's right up there. Right now, he's trending in the
- 30:56Speaker 7: top 10 point guards of all time. If you keep
- 30:59Speaker 7: on this path that he's on, you know, to be
- 31:03Speaker 7: able to lead a team to a championship, especially in
- 31:08Speaker 7: New York, and we know how hard it is to
- 31:10Speaker 7: win in New York and the way he's done it.
- 31:14Speaker 7: I can't think of anything that any other guard outside
- 31:18Speaker 7: of Michael have done to win a championship in a
- 31:22Speaker 7: closeout game. He was just special throughout that whole playoffs,
- 31:27Speaker 7: but really special during the finals and the way he
- 31:31Speaker 7: played and the way he led and getting everybody involved
- 31:35Speaker 7: in the game, knowing that at times he had to
- 31:37Speaker 7: take over the game and he was more than comfortable
- 31:40Speaker 7: doing that. It was just a special, special moment.
- 31:46Speaker 6: John, my favorite part of the home playoff games during
- 31:48Speaker 6: this Knicks run was seeing you guys on the baseline
- 31:50Speaker 6: with the energy that you guys were bringing every night
- 31:53Speaker 6: to the garden. Do you ever get caught up in
- 31:55Speaker 6: the moment? Like, I think I could go out there
- 31:56Speaker 6: and drop 20 points.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I probably do.
- 32:01Speaker 7: If you watch me on that sideline, I probably got
- 32:03Speaker 7: caught up a lot of times in the moment. You know,
- 32:08Speaker 7: people were saying, yeah, like you were part of the game.
- 32:11Speaker 7: You know, I was just, you know, As.
- 32:14Speaker 15: A former player, those moments and that energy comes back
- 32:21Speaker 15: to you all of a sudden, and you want to
- 32:24Speaker 15: be out there on the court, but you.
- 32:25Speaker 7: Know you can't. I was getting close to being.
- 32:27Speaker 12: Out there on the court at times, but it was
- 32:31Speaker 12: just fun and exciting just to be down there with
- 32:35Speaker 12: my former teammates, as well as a lot of the alumni,
- 32:38Speaker 12: and just watching this team perform the way they played.
- 32:42Speaker 7: Performed throughout the whole stretch, run, you know, winning 13
- 32:47Speaker 7: straight playoff games, and to be able to come out
- 32:51Speaker 7: on top and to do it in such a classy way,
- 32:55Speaker 7: it was just special.
- 32:56Speaker 14: John, the one thing I worry about when I look
- 32:58Speaker 14: at the Knicks going into this year is between Brunson, Hart, O.G., McHale,
- 33:04Speaker 14: and Katt, they've played a lot of games the last
- 33:07Speaker 14: three seasons, including, you know, the playoffs.
- 33:09Speaker 11: They have.
- 33:09Speaker 14: Do you worry about them going into this year? Is
- 33:12Speaker 14: that probably their main concern? Because, you know, outside of Mitchell,
- 33:15Speaker 14: they're basically running it back.
- 33:18Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, I think Coach Brown probably is going
- 33:21Speaker 7: to take that into account. I think looking at the
- 33:24Speaker 7: team that we have now and looking at our bench,
- 33:27Speaker 7: I think our bench probably may be even stronger than
- 33:29Speaker 7: it was last year. And so I think, that we
- 33:34Speaker 7: have enough to kind of limit those guys' minutes early on.
- 33:39Speaker 7: You know, you feel good, but as the season progressed,
- 33:42Speaker 7: then that's when it starts to hit you that last
- 33:45Speaker 7: season was very long and we had a short, you know, summer.
- 33:49Speaker 7: And so Coach Brown been in that arena many a times,
- 33:56Speaker 7: you know, with Steve Kerr on his staff as well
- 34:00Speaker 7: as Popovich. So, I think he has a good grasp
- 34:03Speaker 7: on what it's going to take to get these guys
- 34:07Speaker 7: re-energized and get them through the season.
- 34:10Speaker 4: John, I'm going to play a song for you in
- 34:11Speaker 4: a second. We'll ask you about Pepsi again in a
- 34:13Speaker 4: minute here, but I am wondering here. What would you
- 34:17Speaker 4: make of LeBron saying, had the Knicks not won the title,
- 34:20Speaker 4: he was going to go to the Knicks?
- 34:22Speaker 2: What would you make of that?
- 34:29Speaker 7: Oh, man, that's funny. That's so funny. LeBron, I think
- 34:35Speaker 7: he just liked teasing people. I think that's what it is.
- 34:38Speaker 7: He just got something in there. He just liked teasing people.
- 34:42Speaker 7: You go back to.
- 34:44Speaker 7: When he came here and did the big announcement over
- 34:47Speaker 7: in Greenwich Boys and Girls Club, you know, everybody thinking
- 34:52Speaker 7: he's coming to the Knicks. And, you know, he's funny.
- 34:57Speaker 2: That's all I can say. Leave it right there. They
- 35:00Speaker 2: don't have to worry about it anymore. They did win. No, no.
- 35:03Speaker 7: We don't have to worry about it. Thank God. Right.
- 35:05Speaker 2: We have the trophy. All right.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I'll ask you about Pepsi after this song here. Our producer, Taylor...
- 35:12Speaker 4: Loves the Knicks. He said Jalen Brunson has changed his life.
- 35:15Speaker 4: All he's ever wanted is a Knicks title.
- 35:17Speaker 2: He got one.
- 35:17Speaker 4: He also put together not a song, but an entire
- 35:21Speaker 4: record of Jalen Brunson songs.
- 35:23Speaker 2: I'm going to play one of them for you, and
- 35:24Speaker 2: you grade it. One to ten.
- 35:25Speaker 6: Here we go.
- 35:30Speaker 3: All right.
- 35:33Speaker 6: He already knows.
- 35:34Speaker 3: I come back from a garden night. My mother asked
- 35:38Speaker 3: that the Knicks must have lost right. Oh, mother dear,
- 35:42Speaker 3: we're now the fortunate ones. New York has Jalen Brunson. Oh,
- 35:49Speaker 3: New York has Jalen Brunson.
- 35:56Speaker 14: Oh, there's more.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 36:00Speaker 3: The ball is in, and the score is tight. My
- 36:03Speaker 3: father yells, best thing to happen in my life. Oh, daddy, dear,
- 36:08Speaker 3: signing him is number one. New York has Jalen Brunson. Oh,
- 36:15Speaker 3: New York really has.
- 36:17Speaker 5: He's all we really want.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Brunson will win the game when it is done. Because
- 36:29Speaker 3: New York has Jalen Brunson. New York has Jalen Brunson.
- 36:36Speaker 14: That was before they won a title.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Before they won anything, he wrote that song.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I heard you laughing. I don't know if that's good
- 36:43Speaker 2: or bad. Let's rank that 1 to 10. He's the producer?
- 36:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:49Speaker 6: Me, John. Thank you.
- 36:52Speaker 7: Oh, no, no, don't lose your job. But in the spirit,
- 37:01Speaker 7: in the spirit of the Knicks winning, I'm going to
- 37:03Speaker 7: rate that a 10. Wow.
- 37:06Speaker 6: I'd love to go to a game with you. Maybe
- 37:07Speaker 6: if we can make that happen.
- 37:09Speaker 2: All right. You're surrounded by Knicks fans here, except for Izzy.
- 37:13Speaker 2: He's a Heat fan, but don't worry about that. We'd
- 37:15Speaker 2: like to have you around here more often, John.
- 37:19Speaker 5: We appreciate it, man.
- 37:20Speaker 2: You were one of my favorite athletes. This has been
- 37:21Speaker 2: a thrill.
- 37:22Speaker 4: One more time on the way out here. Tell us
- 37:24Speaker 4: what you're doing with the Knicks and with Pepsi.
- 37:27Speaker 7: Yes.
- 37:28Speaker 1: So this Pepsi, we got the Pepsi X Knicks championship can,
- 37:34Speaker 1: which is a commemoration of the Knicks championship to celebrate
- 37:40Speaker 1: the fans. and the fans get a chance to get
- 37:43Speaker 1: into the sweepstakes when they purchase the championship Knicks can
- 37:50Speaker 1: at the point of sale.
- 37:53Speaker 7: So, you know, you have to go in and buy it.
- 37:55Speaker 7: You just can't go in there and scan and think
- 37:58Speaker 7: you're going to get in the sweepstakes. You have to
- 38:00Speaker 7: spend a little.
- 38:00Speaker 11: Money, not much, to get Knicks tickets. And so we
- 38:06Speaker 11: just want to encourage everybody to go out and participate
- 38:10Speaker 11: in this. And the can is a beautiful can. And
- 38:13Speaker 11: it's a keepsake can. So something to remember what this
- 38:17Speaker 11: year was all about.
- 38:19Speaker 7: And it was about the Knicks winning the championships.
- 38:22Speaker 2: All right, John, we appreciate this. Hopefully we'll do it
- 38:24Speaker 2: again soon.
- 38:25Speaker 4: I promise you a couple hours from now, you won't
- 38:27Speaker 4: expect it, but you'll be walking around, wherever you're walking around,
- 38:29Speaker 4: and you'll start singing that song.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Thank you for doing this. He loves it. Thank you
- 38:39Speaker 2: for doing this, man. We appreciate it.
- 38:41Speaker 5: All right, John.
- 38:42Speaker 7: Okay.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Oh, man.
