- 1:38Speaker 1: it man.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yes, And you know, for those that don't know, you
- 1:41Speaker 2: were also the host of Drunk Black History.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That's right, that's right. We're hitting the road finally. We're
- 1:49Speaker 1: going to the West coast, down south. We're going to Detroit,
- 1:52Speaker 1: going back to my home state. Uh yeah. We're kicking
- 1:55Speaker 1: off in Los Angeles next week Friday, February twenty first
- 1:58Speaker 1: having a creddble line on April Rain who started the
- 2:01Speaker 1: Oscar so white hashtag? I got JB. Davis, who's been
- 2:05Speaker 1: on bet James the Third, who's black men can't drop
- 2:09Speaker 1: in Hollywood? And then the Homie Reil Battles co hosting
- 2:11Speaker 1: with me, so incredibly excited for that. And then back
- 2:13Speaker 1: to New York, then to Austin. We're going everywhere, baby, Okay.
- 2:18Speaker 5: I love it going on the road. I enjoyed.
- 2:20Speaker 4: The show is one of the one of the funniest
- 2:23Speaker 4: or funnier kind of live I said, live audience interaction
- 2:26Speaker 4: shows actually was on one of the New York shows
- 2:30Speaker 4: a few years back. I to remember who I even
- 2:35Speaker 4: talked about, but it was a fun experience.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I enjoyed it about me Jamison, I did yees.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I talked about May Jameson and meeting her and all
- 2:42Speaker 4: that stuff. So literally, what the titles, what you get?
- 2:45Speaker 4: You know, a little bit of drinking, you know, a
- 2:48Speaker 4: little bit of acknowledgment and education, but you know, you
- 2:51Speaker 4: still learn a lot about you know, famous figures in
- 2:54Speaker 4: black history, famous.
- 2:56Speaker 5: You know, goings on in the world.
- 2:58Speaker 4: So I definitely recommend, and they would definitely say, everyone
- 3:01Speaker 4: check it out again, drunk black history.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That's right, and we're gonna have a little bit more fun.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And the last show we did was for New York
- 3:08Speaker 1: Comedy Festival, which happened to be two days after the election.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And that was a tough one. That was a hard one.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We got through it. We had some laps, but.
- 3:17Speaker 2: That was tough.
- 3:18Speaker 5: It was tough.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yeah, no, No, it's normally a very like, very funny show,
- 3:22Speaker 4: very engagent funny show.
- 3:23Speaker 5: So I'm that's sad. I'm sorry.
- 3:25Speaker 1: No, we came out to Kendricks, We're gonna be all right,
- 3:27Speaker 1: And then we were asking audience members like, how are
- 3:29Speaker 1: you gonna get through the next four plus, you know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: twenty years depending on how long this dictatorship goes. And uh, yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: it was a bit, you know, it was great for
- 3:38Speaker 1: community building and like making sure everyone knows the best
- 3:42Speaker 1: way to take care of themselves for self health and
- 3:44Speaker 1: stuff like that. But yeah, but as a comedian, that's
- 3:47Speaker 1: like one of the worst environments you could possibly have
- 3:50Speaker 1: Tom work through for two hours.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Man, that's crazy. I'm sorry, It's all good.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That's what I do.
- 3:56Speaker 4: You know, we're one thing bad people gonna do. We're
- 3:58Speaker 4: gonna laughing news common to get our way through things.
- 4:01Speaker 4: And as mentioned, I think that the fact that you're
- 4:04Speaker 4: taking us on the road will be very helpful to people.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I think that would be you know, people need that,
- 4:09Speaker 4: people need the last people need something to take their
- 4:11Speaker 4: mind off of what's going on right now.
- 4:13Speaker 5: And also, like I said, you need to learn about
- 4:14Speaker 5: black history.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So here we are exactly, and I think black folks
- 4:17Speaker 1: because we know, like you know, we don't know all
- 4:19Speaker 1: of our history, but because we care to know our history,
- 4:21Speaker 1: especially even younger generations, we're gonna be okay, wait, it's
- 4:25Speaker 1: gonna hurt, but we're gonna be able to get through
- 4:27Speaker 1: whatever the fuck is coming at us, right because we're
- 4:31Speaker 1: just resilient like that. We know where we came from,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and that's why, like you know, doing this show has
- 4:37Speaker 1: been so fulfilling and just then urgency right now for
- 4:41Speaker 1: us to spread the word and like highlight all these
- 4:44Speaker 1: incredible black historical figures and events and contributions towards this
- 4:48Speaker 1: country that are constantly being disregarded.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah, absolute no, And that's really a great mission that
- 4:56Speaker 2: you're actually on there, because that's one thing. Shout outs
- 4:59Speaker 2: to the So Shameless pod I was on there the
- 5:02Speaker 2: other day. Shout out to my brother Tahoe the Homie Doage.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Tahoe's cousin Yesterday was also on there with us, one
- 5:10Speaker 2: of my favorite podcasts out there, and on there, one
- 5:13Speaker 2: of the things we were discussing, as well as a
- 5:16Speaker 2: lot of the stuff we'll talk about tonight, like Drake
- 5:18Speaker 2: versus Kendrick and everything. We were talking about the importance
- 5:22Speaker 2: of history, you know what I mean, and how important
- 5:26Speaker 2: history is and how it's not really taught and just
- 5:30Speaker 2: even something I like to always it's like people don't
- 5:34Speaker 2: understand is how things change, right, how time changes things
- 5:39Speaker 2: like especially things like hip hop. We were talking about
- 5:41Speaker 2: the Drake versus Hendrick, and taho's president is a younger
- 5:45Speaker 2: individual and he's definitely a Drake Stam through and through.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So he was like, Yo, Kendrick will never sell as
- 5:52Speaker 2: many records again, and I was like, I read on
- 5:54Speaker 2: Hendrick's concerned with selling records, and he was flabbergasted by
- 5:59Speaker 2: that idea, the idea of not being concerned with selling records.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And I'm like, fam, I come from a time when
- 6:05Speaker 2: hip hop artists were never concerned with selling records, Like
- 6:09Speaker 2: selling records was a sign you failed.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Sadly, you know that that wasn't the main goal.
- 6:15Speaker 5: That wasn't the main.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Oh the goal was to great make great music, and
- 6:19Speaker 2: that has been lost. And that's so bugged to me
- 6:21Speaker 2: because that's only like ten, fifteen years ago, twenty, maybe
- 6:24Speaker 2: thirty even now, but it's even then. It's just like
- 6:27Speaker 2: the fact that that's not known, you know, like that
- 6:30Speaker 2: he was shocked when I mean really did not believe me. Honestly,
- 6:33Speaker 2: shout out to my bro yesterday, but I don't think
- 6:35Speaker 2: he even believed me.
- 6:37Speaker 5: That's crazy. That No, it's good, it's what's crazy.
- 6:40Speaker 4: To me, is like even if you take it out
- 6:41Speaker 4: the context of the history of hip hop, like just
- 6:44Speaker 4: look at the biggest artists in the world, Beyonce. She's
- 6:47Speaker 4: to the point where, like you transcended so many things
- 6:50Speaker 4: that the sales don't matter. She will not she will
- 6:52Speaker 4: purposely as she's done, not putting on a streaming service
- 6:55Speaker 4: or not do this and not do that, not now
- 6:56Speaker 4: say anything, not doing any type of promo, because that's
- 6:59Speaker 4: not the point.
- 6:59Speaker 5: She not here to sell the records. She don't need that.
- 7:02Speaker 5: It's about it's bigger than that. So I think even.
- 7:04Speaker 4: If you take it out of just out of any
- 7:06Speaker 4: other other context, just be you know, have some common sense. No,
- 7:09Speaker 4: the sales don't matter, Like if you think Kenjack Lamar
- 7:13Speaker 4: is worried about getting a platinum album, you are sadly
- 7:16Speaker 4: and sorely mistaken.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Like also, how do you consider sales? We're the digital
- 7:20Speaker 1: Like yeah, world, like sales doesn't mean anything, especially the
- 7:23Speaker 1: way it used to in the nineties. Like that's such
- 7:25Speaker 1: a weird, antiquated way of thinking about the business.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Now very where to antiquate it.
- 7:29Speaker 2: But they're even taking an account streaming, et cetera. You know,
- 7:32Speaker 2: obviously they're younger.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Streaming as a joke. Streaming is a joke.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You get get.
- 7:38Speaker 5: Like like slices of a penny on.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But they're not talking about the money that that the
- 7:43Speaker 2: person generated. They're just saying that they'll never have this
- 7:45Speaker 2: big a moment again. And to me, it's like like
- 7:48Speaker 2: both of y'all saying. But also it transcends like you said,
- 7:51Speaker 2: it transcends hip hop. If you go back in time
- 7:54Speaker 2: to any major genre and even like movies, films, comics,
- 7:59Speaker 2: the greatest words of art usually aren't the biggest selling
- 8:03Speaker 2: you know, the best artists usually die broke. It's not
- 8:06Speaker 2: you know, because usually it's just they're not concerned with
- 8:10Speaker 2: making commercial works of art.
- 8:12Speaker 5: They concern making art and getting there.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Think about the most revere movies of all time. Most
- 8:17Speaker 1: of them when they first came out didn't get great reviews,
- 8:21Speaker 1: probably didn't do that well the backs. You know, it
- 8:23Speaker 1: takes time for things to be appreciated the way they should.
- 8:27Speaker 1: But real quit going back to the thing about freakingtting history.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I've said this on Black Eggy Tips. We're repeating a
- 8:33Speaker 1: lot of stuff like if you do American history right,
- 8:36Speaker 1: like with the whole Trump stuff, right, yeah, but Karthyism
- 8:39Speaker 1: right in the in the sixties and stuff like that.
- 8:41Speaker 1: One of McCarthy's protegees was Roy Cone, this lawyer who
- 8:45Speaker 1: his protege was Donald Trump. So you have all these
- 8:49Speaker 1: things that are just you know, influencing one another to
- 8:52Speaker 1: the point where we're repeating parts of history. Likes to
- 8:55Speaker 1: baffles me how few people know about any of that stuff.
- 8:59Speaker 2: One of the like lessons to my mom rest her soul,
- 9:02Speaker 2: I just will never forget this is I can't remember
- 9:05Speaker 2: what I was complaining about. But she was just like Benjamin,
- 9:08Speaker 2: America exists on a pendulum, and you know, we take
- 9:11Speaker 2: one step forward and it will take two steps back.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And that really I didn't really get it then, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 2: I don't think I got it an after she passed,
- 9:18Speaker 2: because it's really like that means we're not really getting anywhere,
- 9:22Speaker 2: you know, And that's kind of like you just said,
- 9:25Speaker 2: we keep repeating things, just different situations until I don't
- 9:29Speaker 2: know what you know. I mean, the solution that I've
- 9:32Speaker 2: always seen is, you know, burning us down. But I'm
- 9:34Speaker 2: also not really you know, ready to burn this down,
- 9:37Speaker 2: you know, and I don't think most people are. And
- 9:41Speaker 2: the disunification of people and the different thoughts on burning
- 9:46Speaker 2: this down, would you know, I don't think it would work.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So yeah, here we are talking about movies and shit.
- 9:54Speaker 1: We got baby, We got movies and we do what
- 9:56Speaker 1: we gotta do. And books occasionally depending on what you know.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Where you're what, I've gotten burned yet. Shout out to
- 10:02Speaker 2: Jimmy Henders. Purple Hayes still in the stores right now.
- 10:05Speaker 2: You can pick that up. Yeah, it's not not being
- 10:08Speaker 2: burned the band as it will be. Yeah, get yourself,
- 10:13Speaker 2: you know what I mean, get one before it is.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You know, Jimmy and just Purple Haze in stores right
- 10:18Speaker 2: now yet again.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Man on that. That's that's incredible.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Oh, thank you very much. Man. Yeah, I gotta I
- 10:25Speaker 2: definitely need to come back on Drunk Black History and
- 10:27Speaker 2: talk about Jimmy because I don't think I got to
- 10:29Speaker 2: do that last time, right.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I mean, you talked about Jimmy, but we were like,
- 10:33Speaker 1: you know, you were the first guests. We were kind
- 10:34Speaker 1: of all over the place talking.
- 10:35Speaker 2: About I did the pod last time, I gotta do
- 10:40Speaker 2: the live show. That's yeah, because I did the pod. Yeah,
- 10:43Speaker 2: I did the first I was the first guest off
- 10:45Speaker 2: for those out there, you can check that out. I
- 10:47Speaker 2: was the first guest on Drunk Black History podcast. Right,
- 10:51Speaker 2: that's still up on YouTube.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah that still happens.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Still good, nice, nice, Yeah, where we talked about Jimmy
- 10:56Speaker 2: Hends Purple Hayes. But yeah, I want to come to
- 10:58Speaker 2: the live show and really talk about it because I
- 11:00Speaker 2: I didn't have a book in hand then, did I?
- 11:02Speaker 1: No?
- 11:02Speaker 2: No, yeah, now I got booking hand all that type
- 11:05Speaker 2: of shit, you know what I mean? So so yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 2: I want to come through and you know, like bless
- 11:09Speaker 2: an audience with the lessons about Jimmy and just black
- 11:12Speaker 2: music and the history of it and all that shit.
- 11:14Speaker 2: So of course do that now not on black music? Well,
- 11:17Speaker 2: I mean, I guess we can keep it going with
- 11:18Speaker 2: some black music because uh, it's definitely pop culture. Drake
- 11:22Speaker 2: versus Hendrick has you know, reached its climax. I guess
- 11:25Speaker 2: super Bowl was last week. Drake released a new album
- 11:30Speaker 2: with party Ne's Door Again.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Wow, did y'all listen to it?
- 11:36Speaker 2: I just was stimming it before this. Once again, shout
- 11:41Speaker 2: out to the company man and his videos. I think
- 11:43Speaker 2: he said it like I would say, it's not for me.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And once again shout out to So Shameless, you know,
- 11:48Speaker 2: Tahoe and uh Yesterday, I was on this week's episode
- 11:52Speaker 2: that's out now. Please go check that episode out there.
- 11:55Speaker 2: So Shameless Pod and Tahoe and Yesterday are you know,
- 11:59Speaker 2: a complete fans of everything Drake does. So I saw
- 12:04Speaker 2: a tweet where they were like, this album is for Canadians,
- 12:07Speaker 2: for the Toronto area first and then Canadians and.
- 12:11Speaker 4: They met in a in a complimentary with Yeah, yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 4: Drake has his fans.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I mean he's got a couple.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Of joints, just a couple of them that I thought
- 12:23Speaker 4: was decent, Like it was kind of funny.
- 12:24Speaker 2: What's on?
- 12:25Speaker 5: Oh give me a hug, Give me a hugg, give
- 12:26Speaker 5: me listen.
- 12:28Speaker 4: I regardless of everything, it's like, I see there's a
- 12:32Speaker 4: duality of Drake for me right and particularly now because
- 12:35Speaker 4: of what has transpired over the last year and a half,
- 12:38Speaker 4: really ship since Megan Megan, you know, fired the first
- 12:42Speaker 4: shot heard around the world.
- 12:44Speaker 5: I still enjoyed Drake's music.
- 12:46Speaker 4: I still think he is entertaining and has always been
- 12:50Speaker 4: an entertainer. I also look at him funny style, especially
- 12:55Speaker 4: now with everything that has occurred, and it's like, oh,
- 12:59Speaker 4: I like that song that's that school. But in the
- 13:01Speaker 4: back of my head, I'm like, oh, it's also kind
- 13:02Speaker 4: of corny, like and so I don't have a hater
- 13:06Speaker 4: mentality when it comes to Drake, Like I'll still go
- 13:08Speaker 4: listen to his music. I'll still like critique it in
- 13:11Speaker 4: a very fair way. I will say though that this
- 13:15Speaker 4: mixed state, whatever this is, it wasn't that good, like
- 13:19Speaker 4: it's it does give me so far gone kind of
- 13:22Speaker 4: sound to it, like in certain certain which is like
- 13:26Speaker 4: a well known, actually nicely.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Loved album, Like I loved the album, but you.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Know, it's some of that there, and like I said,
- 13:33Speaker 4: and that's why we both said that there's a couple
- 13:35Speaker 4: of records that are actually decent in it. But otherwise
- 13:39Speaker 4: it's just kind of like you just threw something together
- 13:41Speaker 4: just to say, hey, here's some more shit for Valentine's Like,
- 13:44Speaker 4: like I just it just felt like you're just throwing
- 13:46Speaker 4: it out there because you felt compelled to.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's wild because like Drake really had to
- 13:52Speaker 1: come out with the best album he could ever put
- 13:55Speaker 1: together as a response to the exactly, Like that's the
- 13:58Speaker 1: thing that's like you really like, if you're back into
- 14:00Speaker 1: a quarter. You really have to come out hard right
- 14:04Speaker 1: in this album, Like I struggle to get through it.
- 14:06Speaker 1: It's like an hour and twenty minutes or something like that.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And I was just like, okay, And then to ta
- 14:10Speaker 1: to your point about him being corny, I can accept
- 14:13Speaker 1: that because at times I'm corny as fuck, but it's genuine,
- 14:17Speaker 1: it's authentic. I think when Drake, you just never know
- 14:19Speaker 1: who the fuck he is, right, that's right, he like
- 14:22Speaker 1: he beat. He is corny sometimes, so no, he makes
- 14:24Speaker 1: fun of himself all the time. But then yeah, he
- 14:26Speaker 1: gets tattoos on the space like I'm the hardest motherfucker
- 14:28Speaker 1: on the planet. You're like, okay, bro, which one is it?
- 14:30Speaker 1: How many kids do you actually have?
- 14:31Speaker 5: Like what's going I don't It's it's confusing.
- 14:35Speaker 4: And again, like I just rather like even Kendrick said it,
- 14:39Speaker 4: I like some of the music you make. That's how
- 14:40Speaker 4: I feel like, just make cool music. So I trying
- 14:43Speaker 4: to be a gangsting, well keep it going through life,
- 14:45Speaker 4: and it's just I don't know. It's just like you
- 14:47Speaker 4: didn't have to do.
- 14:48Speaker 5: This, sir.
- 14:48Speaker 4: And also that even that idea of oh you got
- 14:51Speaker 4: to drop like one of your greatest records. I think
- 14:53Speaker 4: in Drake's mind, he already this is over. He been
- 14:56Speaker 4: said it months ago that this was over. You know,
- 14:58Speaker 4: when he tried to say, oh, it's a good workout,
- 15:01Speaker 4: like I got here, I work like you got worked, right,
- 15:04Speaker 4: you got what over? Several times it's a wrap and
- 15:08Speaker 4: now the big culmination happened in the super Bowl. If
- 15:10Speaker 4: you feel that you've moved on unless you know, fine,
- 15:13Speaker 4: but like I don't know, it's just I don't know
- 15:15Speaker 4: what this was and it wasn't what he thought it was.
- 15:19Speaker 2: So it's number one in like thirty countries. Like I said, yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 2: it's doing what it needs to do for him and
- 15:26Speaker 2: definitely for Party. That's door hiest Party fan. Yeah yeah
- 15:33Speaker 2: yeah either uh. So Far Gone though, is like obviously
- 15:36Speaker 2: one of my favorite Drake joints. You know, I just
- 15:39Speaker 2: love that album. That's that was my real introduction to him,
- 15:42Speaker 2: and I love it to this day. But this didn't
- 15:45Speaker 2: hit those vibes. I get what you're saying. It had
- 15:47Speaker 2: some of them, but it ain't nothing like So Far
- 15:50Speaker 2: Gone Take Care type joints. Yeah, it's cool.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Well, none of those artists we're working with him anymore, right,
- 15:55Speaker 1: Like so he can't even do it take care, which
- 15:57Speaker 1: had like some great can't you know guess on it
- 16:00Speaker 1: and stuff like that, like those people ain't messing with him.
- 16:03Speaker 4: No, more like some of the verses, some of the
- 16:05Speaker 4: choruses are really like annoying, and I was just like,
- 16:08Speaker 4: what's going on? Like, you know, at the end of
- 16:11Speaker 4: the day, the man could do a good hook. And
- 16:13Speaker 4: there was a.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Few records where I was just like, what are you.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Talking like, I was annoyed immediately, and I'm just like
- 16:18Speaker 4: and then he would repeat and you know, the it's
- 16:21Speaker 4: it wasn't like sing song repetition. It was just like,
- 16:24Speaker 4: I'm trying to make this work. I'm trying to make
- 16:26Speaker 4: fetch happened? Repetition And I wasn't. I wasn't in the
- 16:29Speaker 4: building for that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Well, he goes through a deep depression that he's probably
- 16:32Speaker 1: in denial about, like it he is just it's probably yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: but yeah, the last thing we would do spend an
- 16:38Speaker 1: hour plus listen to annoying music.
- 16:41Speaker 5: I'm sry, I get it.
- 16:43Speaker 4: No, No, you're right, You're right. And so it wasn't
- 16:46Speaker 4: you know, maybe like Captain Captain and America, it wasn't
- 16:49Speaker 4: the worst thing. I heard, but it wasn't.
- 16:51Speaker 5: The best thing.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Okay, which which is the worst day to come out
- 16:53Speaker 1: this week? And Captain America a Brave New World or
- 16:57Speaker 1: whatever that album is called.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Definite both. I'm not sure I want to hear or
- 17:04Speaker 2: see again. Though.
- 17:06Speaker 1: My biggest offense that I took from Brave by World
- 17:09Speaker 1: was you had the Leader after what twenty plus years
- 17:12Speaker 1: of build up or whatever it's ease from an incredible hulk,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and then he doesn't use his telepathic powers. He ain't
- 17:18Speaker 1: got it, Like he's just he's supposed to be the
- 17:21Speaker 1: smart dude and he didn't foresee this one plague going
- 17:23Speaker 1: awry and he's just like, all right, well.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Damn, I keep talking about it. I was a shout
- 17:27Speaker 2: out to our YouTube commenters. I was talking about it
- 17:30Speaker 2: with them, and no one could give me a reasonable
- 17:34Speaker 2: answer or as to why the Leader didn't just shoot
- 17:40Speaker 2: Falcon and Captain America when he had them in the
- 17:42Speaker 2: room with his boons. I just don't understand it. On
- 17:46Speaker 2: that note, real quick, all our YouTube commenters out there,
- 17:49Speaker 2: and shout out to everybody's subscribing and make sure you
- 17:51Speaker 2: are subscribing on YouTube. Please hit that subscribe button. Don't
- 17:55Speaker 2: just sit there and watch the videos. Hit the subscribe
- 17:57Speaker 2: button while you're there. And I want to shout out
- 17:59Speaker 2: our latest private shout out to Omega Jackson, Carlin Ray,
- 18:03Speaker 2: face of Yo Transatlantic Bounce, Marissa, Billionaire Cocaine author, Venus Knight,
- 18:08Speaker 2: dolomont One in the Marble One. I'm sorry Billionaire Cocaine. Yes,
- 18:14Speaker 2: got my shouts out because that name is amazing. Also,
- 18:19Speaker 2: speaking of shout out, I want to shout out Julius Owner,
- 18:23Speaker 2: the director. Oh now, I hope I pronounced that correctly,
- 18:26Speaker 2: the director of Brave New World, because I've really We
- 18:30Speaker 2: talked about this in our review that dropped the other day.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You can also find that on YouTube and everywhere else
- 18:35Speaker 2: as well, and we talked about this. This film feels
- 18:39Speaker 2: like a movie made by committee, right because Malcolm Spellman,
- 18:43Speaker 2: who was you know, been on the show before fan
- 18:45Speaker 2: friend of the show, is one of the writers on
- 18:49Speaker 2: the movie. But there are several other writers. Julius is
- 18:52Speaker 2: one of them as.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Well, right, huh, just like five in total, I think.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And Malcolm, if you know him as we know him
- 19:02Speaker 2: as a very revolutionary brother, very you know on it
- 19:06Speaker 2: has been that way his whole life and this movie
- 19:10Speaker 2: feels muddled in general, but Julius as well as director
- 19:15Speaker 2: of one of my favorite films from the last few years,
- 19:17Speaker 2: a film named Loose. It's spelled l Uce. If you
- 19:21Speaker 2: have not seen this film, please go check it out.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It is a thriller in the best way. I don't
- 19:29Speaker 2: even want to give any more about it. You can
- 19:31Speaker 2: look it up. But Julius did his damn thing on that,
- 19:35Speaker 2: so I know the man can direct. But it feels
- 19:38Speaker 2: like this movie was taken away from him, and taken
- 19:40Speaker 2: away from Malcolm, and taken away from anyone who really
- 19:43Speaker 2: wanted to make something, you know, with the legacy. I
- 19:47Speaker 2: think in instead we get you know.
- 19:50Speaker 5: This, you know, shout say Anthony Mackie. He did it.
- 19:53Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. That's like, I feel like this
- 19:57Speaker 2: film was taken away from all the people who really
- 19:59Speaker 2: put hard and song to it.
- 20:01Speaker 1: What do y'all think of The New Falcon though? For
- 20:03Speaker 1: his chemistry at the New Falcon.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I like it, I love I loved well Joaquin Taurus,
- 20:08Speaker 4: but the actor Jenny Ramirez. I love the New Falcon
- 20:12Speaker 4: and Falcon Jr. I love Falcon Jr. I think I
- 20:16Speaker 4: likened him to the bleeding heart of the group of
- 20:19Speaker 4: the series of.
- 20:20Speaker 5: What would be this movie series.
- 20:21Speaker 4: But I thought he because you got to see a
- 20:26Speaker 4: really genuine side of him, particularly like why he wants
- 20:29Speaker 4: to be a hero, why this is so important to him,
- 20:31Speaker 4: And it was spelled out very like it made sense,
- 20:34Speaker 4: Like it was the one thing in the movie where
- 20:36Speaker 4: everything made sense to nothing. You could tell that was
- 20:38Speaker 4: the one thing they didn't touch or change. So I
- 20:41Speaker 4: loved it.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that one scene, I know where you're talking about,
- 20:45Speaker 1: that was the most powerful besides everything.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Isaiah Bradley was right right exactly, So did you did
- 20:50Speaker 4: you like Falcon Jr?
- 20:53Speaker 1: It was weird because you know, like especially at the beginning,
- 20:56Speaker 1: because you know, it's clearly they're trying to catch up
- 20:58Speaker 1: anyone who didn't see Falcon with their soldier about who
- 21:00Speaker 1: everyone is. So he came off a little annoying because
- 21:02Speaker 1: he had all this exposition dialogue to be like every
- 21:04Speaker 1: Isaiah Bradley, this is how you did it and this
- 21:07Speaker 1: is who I am. And I was just like, oh God,
- 21:09Speaker 1: why did you do this? This kid? And I think
- 21:11Speaker 1: for me, it like it made me roll my eyes
- 21:13Speaker 1: so much within five minutes that I was like, oh, man,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and there's there's a cameo that you know, obviously we're
- 21:18Speaker 1: not gonna spoil where I was just like, oh, man,
- 21:21Speaker 1: Anthony Mackie and this dude really like they're really friends,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you can tell, you know what I mean. I just
- 21:27Speaker 1: that chemistry just oozed off the screen. And maybe it
- 21:30Speaker 1: takes some time for you know, Anthony and Danny to
- 21:32Speaker 1: like get more comfortable with each other and stuff, and
- 21:33Speaker 1: hopefully they get to that dynamic. But I definitely there's
- 21:36Speaker 1: there's a camera that was like, you shouldn't have put
- 21:38Speaker 1: that in there, because now I'm just like, I don't
- 21:40Speaker 1: want to see that.
- 21:40Speaker 2: It's also once again though, and like you said, God,
- 21:43Speaker 2: remember they've had that time, you know, and screen time
- 21:47Speaker 2: and material again. You know, I felt like Danny and
- 21:52Speaker 2: Anthony did the best with what they were given, because
- 21:55Speaker 2: there were certain scenes with them where I'm like, oh
- 21:57Speaker 2: my god, what am I watching some sitcom like this?
- 22:01Speaker 2: But it wasn't on them. It's just the writing was
- 22:04Speaker 2: so you know, sitcom.
- 22:06Speaker 1: And that that's not Malcolm too, because when you will
- 22:08Speaker 1: know Malcolm in the Wizards, So they played that so straight.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what made me frustrated too, because once I
- 22:15Speaker 1: saw there's fire Riders. Oh this is all over the place.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Like a movie that has this big of a budget,
- 22:19Speaker 1: It shouldn't be that convoluted.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I said it on review. It felt like it was
- 22:23Speaker 2: at least two different directors even, you know, or two
- 22:26Speaker 2: different movies at least.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, you never know, like what
- 22:30Speaker 1: happens in posts too. That's the thing is, like all
- 22:32Speaker 1: these films, the dirty secret is you never know like
- 22:34Speaker 1: who actually gets final cut, who's actually in the editing bay.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Like I've learned so much like being you know, working
- 22:40Speaker 1: at a universal and getting to talk to other people
- 22:43Speaker 1: at other studios and how these things come together where
- 22:45Speaker 1: you're like, oh, you know, this could have gone siluce,
- 22:48Speaker 1: but because uh in DA's and like your relationship with
- 22:51Speaker 1: the studio or what have you, you have to just
- 22:53Speaker 1: like sell the the press points right and not deviate
- 22:57Speaker 1: from that. So I think we'll never really know how
- 23:00Speaker 1: what happened here.
- 23:01Speaker 2: No, and directors rarely, if ever, I mean not if ever,
- 23:05Speaker 2: but rarely have final cut. You have to be a
- 23:09Speaker 2: powerful dude to have final cut in today's Hollywood, and
- 23:13Speaker 2: Julius is not that, ye you know, ain't No way,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I'm just gonna take this away from you.
- 23:19Speaker 5: I'm just gonna add that.
- 23:22Speaker 4: On Thursday or when they embargo dropped, it was out
- 23:25Speaker 4: of fifty seven percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's at
- 23:27Speaker 4: fifty now so and fifty.
- 23:33Speaker 2: First and then it went up to fifty seven and
- 23:35Speaker 2: then back down.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Because everyone's reviews wasn't in yet but one one. Once
- 23:38Speaker 4: they barbos dropped, the official was fifty seven. And then
- 23:40Speaker 4: when people started making posts about it talking about it's
- 23:43Speaker 4: like the second or third lowest Marvel movie, it was
- 23:45Speaker 4: at fifty four.
- 23:46Speaker 5: And now as I'm looking at right now, it's fifty.
- 23:48Speaker 5: So yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 4: So I mean, when our review goes up's probably gonna
- 23:51Speaker 4: get up to fifty one.
- 23:52Speaker 1: But uh, I was gonna say, we just put two
- 23:55Speaker 1: positive reviews on our run like and it's still.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Then yeah, because and that's does this makes sense because
- 24:01Speaker 4: you asked me earlier, Brandon, what I think, and I said,
- 24:04Speaker 4: right down the middle. I said, be minus C plus
- 24:06Speaker 4: and that's what the the response is. Everyone's right down
- 24:09Speaker 4: the middle, like you know, but it's at the end
- 24:12Speaker 4: of the day, it's not a bad movie.
- 24:13Speaker 2: It's just suffering from good movie. Yeah, that's the problem, like,
- 24:20Speaker 2: you know, to keep it real. It's like it's an
- 24:22Speaker 2: okay movie.
- 24:23Speaker 5: And best I mean Adamantium, I know.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Right Wellanda they said it so many times. It was like,
- 24:33Speaker 1: oh my gosh, all right, we get it. The mutants
- 24:36Speaker 1: are coming all right.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Apparently not with the leader because he ain't got no
- 24:41Speaker 4: psychond powers.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Bro, that was none.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It was like even such a bad villain.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Because taic powers whatever the you want to say, none,
- 24:50Speaker 4: he was a bad villain. It should have just been
- 24:52Speaker 4: sidewinder like he was more compelling it.
- 24:55Speaker 1: That's also a thing that frustrated me between William Jackson,
- 24:58Speaker 1: Harper and now John Carlo, like why are we wasting
- 25:01Speaker 1: these incredible actors and like you know, like that scenes
- 25:04Speaker 1: that like characters that probably aren't coming back, you know
- 25:07Speaker 1: what I mean. Like I remember a moment where William
- 25:09Speaker 1: Jackson Herbert was like in talks possibly to be reading
- 25:12Speaker 1: Richards and I'm saying that'd be amazing, and he's just
- 25:14Speaker 1: random character in Man three.
- 25:15Speaker 2: You're like, what a waste. Esposito is supposed to come
- 25:20Speaker 2: back though when he before this film dropped, he was
- 25:22Speaker 2: talking about that I will be introducing this film and
- 25:25Speaker 2: then there's a series to come after. So he made it.
- 25:29Speaker 4: He made it clear, and they made it clear in
- 25:31Speaker 4: the in the show. In the show, it sounded like
- 25:33Speaker 4: a TV show.
- 25:34Speaker 5: He made it clear. In the movie.
- 25:35Speaker 2: He was like, I'll be back.
- 25:35Speaker 5: I'm gonna break out of here.
- 25:36Speaker 2: So yeah, oh yeah, yeah he did. Yeah, but they
- 25:39Speaker 2: and they said, and he said that there will be
- 25:41Speaker 2: a series after. I don't know what series, you know,
- 25:43Speaker 2: but we shall see. Uh. Someone who doesn't look like
- 25:46Speaker 2: they're coming back now is Jonathan Majors. It seems like
- 25:50Speaker 2: the tides have turned. We spoke on this before there
- 25:53Speaker 2: were rumors of him coming back, and now the rumors
- 25:55Speaker 2: have gone the other way. Uh. I don't know who
- 25:58Speaker 2: to believe at this point, you know, specially Lamarcuse.
- 26:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:01Speaker 2: People will always say they're not in movies and then
- 26:04Speaker 2: they are, you know, so he could be in Doomsday,
- 26:07Speaker 2: which is actually about to begin filming soon as well.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And my question to all is is is it too
- 26:13Speaker 2: soon for an Avenger film?
- 26:15Speaker 1: I think so, it's not the build up that like,
- 26:18Speaker 1: you know, this is also an issue and this is
- 26:21Speaker 1: on me, like this is me. The fleoting on Captain
- 26:23Speaker 1: America Brady World when I was watching it it made
- 26:26Speaker 1: me so nostalgic for twenty eighteen to twenty nineteen, I
- 26:30Speaker 1: was like I took that time for granted, like between
- 26:32Speaker 1: Black Panther and Finny Wore an end game in the
- 26:35Speaker 1: movie theater with the correct like I took those experiences
- 26:37Speaker 1: for granted, like I was, it's one of those are
- 26:40Speaker 1: the top three theatrical experiences of all time?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Like yeah, I didn't, Yeah, I definitely didn't because that
- 26:45Speaker 2: was I knew at the time, like I'll never have
- 26:48Speaker 2: experiences like this or I will, but you know, those
- 26:51Speaker 2: are just one of them. That's like, you know, taking
- 26:54Speaker 2: me back to childhood type theatrical experiences.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Marvel's just been too inconsistent, where like I feel like
- 27:00Speaker 1: it's gonna be that's a lot of pressure for the
- 27:02Speaker 1: Russo brothers and the writers and the whole cast. I
- 27:05Speaker 1: think maybe they can pull it off. But the Russo
- 27:08Speaker 1: brothers outside of Marble haven't been doing great films, Like
- 27:12Speaker 1: I've watched a lot of them and they haven't been great.
- 27:14Speaker 2: So they also haven't had the writing team, which they
- 27:17Speaker 2: have back, and that is what gives me the hope
- 27:20Speaker 2: because the writing team is the same writing team that
- 27:23Speaker 2: goes back to the First Adventure went through you know,
- 27:26Speaker 2: all the cap films, all the way to Infinity Warren Ingame.
- 27:29Speaker 2: So I believe in them, you know, not as much
- 27:33Speaker 2: as the Russo's at this point, but I do believe
- 27:36Speaker 2: in them more than anything. And I'll say I don't
- 27:39Speaker 2: think it's too soon because the Avengers, the first Avengers
- 27:42Speaker 2: film came after what like three full movies, and there's
- 27:46Speaker 2: been like five to six movies since the last Avengers films. So,
- 27:51Speaker 2: and we're going fantastic forest fill and probably something else,
- 27:54Speaker 2: I think before Doomsday.
- 27:55Speaker 1: But some of these chearers they're going to throw in
- 27:57Speaker 1: Avengers we haven't seen in years. We haven't seen chang
- 27:59Speaker 1: Chie in how long four years?
- 28:03Speaker 5: You may never see that nigga.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Like what you mean, eternals, we haven't seen it.
- 28:08Speaker 4: They want him back, like cause we don't know what
- 28:10Speaker 4: is the direction going in internal eternals don't exist, okay,
- 28:13Speaker 4: But the closest you're gonna get to the eternals.
- 28:15Speaker 5: What you just fucking saw with the celestial being mentioned
- 28:18Speaker 5: and now being turned I called it.
- 28:19Speaker 4: They basically turned it into a moon because all it's
- 28:21Speaker 4: good for is to mine it. So I mean to
- 28:24Speaker 4: ask your question, man, because I didn't ask their question,
- 28:27Speaker 4: Uh what Avengers?
- 28:29Speaker 5: You know, I gotta go, you gotta do it, like Friday,
- 28:31Speaker 5: what Adventures?
- 28:32Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 28:33Speaker 5: Like?
- 28:34Speaker 2: Next movie? What next season?
- 28:36Speaker 5: What next season?
- 28:37Speaker 4: Right like, there is there's nothing there. There's no I mean,
- 28:43Speaker 4: if you're gonna, if you're gonna come at this like
- 28:45Speaker 4: this is a restart again, a new generation.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Right now, there's nothing there.
- 28:49Speaker 4: There are concepts of a plan that they have yet
- 28:52Speaker 4: to put together. Now I don't know how long this
- 28:55Speaker 4: is gonna take to actually give me a cohesive group again.
- 28:59Speaker 4: There's there's plenty of characters to pick from, there's plenty
- 29:01Speaker 4: of storylines to mix and choose from. But like, I
- 29:05Speaker 4: don't think they're ready, not in the current state of
- 29:08Speaker 4: the MCU, I don't think they're ready.
- 29:10Speaker 1: My concern too, Like I get the faith in the writers, Ben,
- 29:13Speaker 1: but like with the inclusion of the TV shows, after
- 29:16Speaker 1: what they just did with Captain America, with all the
- 29:18Speaker 1: exposition to catch people up who didn't watch, I just
- 29:21Speaker 1: hate it. I think that we're gonna get like the
- 29:23Speaker 1: first thirty minutes of like recap of everything that it's happening.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Like Ben was saying, Ben was saying how they how
- 29:29Speaker 4: they do the MCU films that like they do it
- 29:32Speaker 4: like as if you didn't see the TV show, And
- 29:34Speaker 4: I'm like, but the TV show gives you the most
- 29:37Speaker 4: breath and the most meat of what those characters are
- 29:40Speaker 4: and why it shouldn't matter, Like for example, if they
- 29:43Speaker 4: threw Homegirl, My Falcon Hawkeye Junior in there, if they
- 29:48Speaker 4: if they act like you never saw the TV show,
- 29:50Speaker 4: that is, she gonna be compelling enough for people who
- 29:52Speaker 4: watch the film you understand. Like now it's like you're
- 29:54Speaker 4: fucking with me because it's just like, why make me
- 29:57Speaker 4: go through all of that?
- 29:57Speaker 5: And also sometimes you know, like in case like a
- 30:00Speaker 5: miss Marble, give.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Me really good TV just ignore it in the film,
- 30:04Speaker 4: and then it's just like Okay, now you're starting this
- 30:06Speaker 4: all over again, and now you're bringing up the point Brandon.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Now I got to sit there through thirty minutes, so
- 30:09Speaker 4: y'all explaining shit again, Like what's the fucking point?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a good fan. I know this stuff, Like
- 30:15Speaker 1: don't don't just waste my time catching up the general
- 30:17Speaker 1: people that just were like, oh, it's a superhero thing,
- 30:19Speaker 1: it get so go see it, Like.
- 30:21Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 30:22Speaker 4: I don't know where they where the misstep happened, when
- 30:24Speaker 4: the miscalculation happened, I'd have to.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Go back to like the First Avengers. But I don't
- 30:28Speaker 2: feel like the First Avengers film does that. Like with
- 30:30Speaker 2: the movies, like, it doesn't ignore that you you know,
- 30:34Speaker 2: it doesn't act like you haven't seen Thor and the
- 30:37Speaker 2: first two Iron Men and Captain America. It acts like
- 30:40Speaker 2: you've seen those films.
- 30:41Speaker 5: It doesn't.
- 30:41Speaker 4: But you know why because those are films. There were
- 30:43Speaker 4: no TV shows in between for those characters. There were
- 30:46Speaker 4: no TV shows in between. It was only film by
- 30:48Speaker 4: film by film, I film, And my thing is, if
- 30:50Speaker 4: y'all gonna do that, then don't bother me with the
- 30:52Speaker 4: TV shows. Just do a bunch of films, like unless
- 30:54Speaker 4: y'all can't have it both ways. Y'all can't say, oh,
- 30:57Speaker 4: we're gonna make a TV show, but then we're gonna
- 30:58Speaker 4: ignore what the implications of that show to throw the
- 31:01Speaker 4: character on screen.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Either you're gonna include.
- 31:03Speaker 4: All of that and just let me be a smart watcher,
- 31:06Speaker 4: or you're gonna not even do the show to begin with,
- 31:08Speaker 4: because now to me, it's like you're just throwing shows
- 31:11Speaker 4: out there just to have some filler Like if you
- 31:14Speaker 4: if this is how you're gonna do and you can't
- 31:16Speaker 4: or you don't have the ability to carry a character
- 31:18Speaker 4: through that, then only do the films like why bother
- 31:21Speaker 4: besides wanting to spend money and make money, I guess,
- 31:24Speaker 4: but that's why.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And to circle back to the Jonathan Majors of it all,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I do think that he'll pop up, but he'll be
- 31:31Speaker 1: the counsel. Kings will get killed by Doom's dead to
- 31:33Speaker 1: show how strong he is. I think that that's like
- 31:35Speaker 1: the way that they get they get ridiculed because if
- 31:37Speaker 1: you haven't seen Loki season two, you don't know that
- 31:40Speaker 1: King kind of has an out, like they kind of
- 31:42Speaker 1: had an out with King where they don't need. Yeah,
- 31:44Speaker 1: but if you didn't watch it, because it is a
- 31:46Speaker 1: very convoluted show. I think Loki's great, but if you
- 31:50Speaker 1: haven't seen it, general honestly gonna be like what happened
- 31:52Speaker 1: to that King? Do that they were building up like
- 31:54Speaker 1: now we're you know what I mean? It's gonna be
- 31:56Speaker 1: so confusing for and that's why it's always gonna be divisive.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Now.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Marvel used to bring people together, but everyone was entertained,
- 32:02Speaker 1: everyone had a good time, and now I just think
- 32:04Speaker 1: there's too much going on. It's too and the multiverse
- 32:07Speaker 1: is still explaining that there's different worlds. It's like, yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 1: we get it, there's multiverses.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Bro.
- 32:11Speaker 1: That was the tag at the end of Captain America.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I'm like, uh, I get it.
- 32:15Speaker 2: There's other word that was that. I saw a headline
- 32:18Speaker 2: that said was the after credit scene for Captain America
- 32:21Speaker 2: for Brave New World shot in twenty ten.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Another question, then, who is going to be in the Avengers?
- 32:30Speaker 2: Because in Brave New World we see Falcon being, you know,
- 32:35Speaker 2: requisitioned to put together a new team, and we've got
- 32:40Speaker 2: Shane she Captain, Marvel, we Haw many young Avengers.
- 32:45Speaker 5: I don't want to see these old niggas. What happened
- 32:46Speaker 5: to the kids?
- 32:48Speaker 1: Oh that's gonna be messy though, because remember they introduced
- 32:50Speaker 1: the whole sun at the end of what was that
- 32:54Speaker 1: which was.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Stiff Him's yeah, all right, let's do too real quick.
- 33:01Speaker 2: We got old old niggas and a younger cad uh.
- 33:08Speaker 2: And that's the thing. I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 33:10Speaker 2: But anyway, let's let's just say who could possibly be
- 33:13Speaker 2: in this, Shane, she Captain Marvel Suri sury.
- 33:17Speaker 5: S maybe with the Young Avengers.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Man, Miss Marvel, I'm saying, Miss Marvel is gonna be
- 33:24Speaker 2: with the I don't think there is gonna be no
- 33:26Speaker 2: Young Avengers. I think it's just gonna be you know, everybody.
- 33:30Speaker 4: That's whoever, like like fucking Capcom versus you know Marvel.
- 33:35Speaker 2: About the Guardians of the Galaxy. Are any of them
- 33:37Speaker 2: gonna be in it? Rocket?
- 33:39Speaker 5: I thought that was done. I thought he was done.
- 33:41Speaker 2: It was done.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I was surprised about how Guardians three ended, Like I
- 33:46Speaker 1: never talked to you all about that, but were y'all
- 33:47Speaker 1: like surprised that they were? Like I was on the
- 33:49Speaker 1: impression like a lot of people are gonna die and
- 33:51Speaker 1: like the team is gonna be defunct, and then at
- 33:53Speaker 1: the end, I'm like, no one's like they could all
- 33:56Speaker 1: come back.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I wasn't surprised because they're out of space.
- 34:00Speaker 5: You could go wherever the fuck you want to go.
- 34:02Speaker 4: And you can also be ignored as a character because
- 34:05Speaker 4: people could throw it.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Away as well.
- 34:06Speaker 4: They're in they're in you know, Rigel five or whatever
- 34:09Speaker 4: the fuck sector, right, Like you can if an easy
- 34:12Speaker 4: way to explain them away of their absence, or to
- 34:14Speaker 4: throw them in as a wild card, like no, I
- 34:17Speaker 4: could see why they just kept them out there.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Doctor Strange says he's not in Doomsday or not
- 34:22Speaker 2: that I mean Benett, So he's not in Doomsday, but
- 34:24Speaker 2: he will be in Secret Wars.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Yeah, they gonna they that nigga. That's one cat that
- 34:28Speaker 4: they will never fucking drop. That's their that's their little joker,
- 34:31Speaker 4: if you will, like they will, they need him. He's
- 34:33Speaker 4: in in the animations, he's in the TV shows, He's
- 34:36Speaker 4: in no matter what, They're gonna use him because he is.
- 34:39Speaker 5: He's the get out of jail free card for sure.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Falcon will you know? Falcon and Captain America will definitely be,
- 34:45Speaker 2: you know in there. Anyone else, Spider Many well, remember
- 34:51Speaker 2: Spider Man don't know nobody right now, and nobody knows
- 34:54Speaker 2: who he is.
- 34:54Speaker 5: True, mean, Hawk Junior. I'm not to disrespect.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I'm talking about Hawk Jr.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Okay what name?
- 35:01Speaker 2: Oh Kate Bishop, Okay, Yeah, I think she's gonna be
- 35:03Speaker 2: in there.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Aquafina, no, Hell to the well. Wong obviously will
- 35:12Speaker 1: be there.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Yeah, Wong will be like the teacher.
- 35:15Speaker 1: What about what's your name? From? Doctor streams too? Who
- 35:18Speaker 1: could go through the different portals. She's going to be
- 35:19Speaker 1: in there, right, she has.
- 35:20Speaker 5: To be America for America shavas.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Where they that's why.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Yeah, America.
- 35:26Speaker 2: She's gonna be like somewhere off to the side. Boy,
- 35:29Speaker 2: they ain't gonna give her no real burn. It's crazy
- 35:32Speaker 2: about the strange hat and remember that too, so she
- 35:34Speaker 2: might not show up, you know.
- 35:36Speaker 4: And it also depends on what what pissed me off
- 35:39Speaker 4: Osama is what type of power level do they want
- 35:42Speaker 4: to show. Do they want to be op you know,
- 35:44Speaker 4: overpowered or do they want to show people who you know,
- 35:47Speaker 4: can't clear a room of five niggas one second and
- 35:50Speaker 4: it's you know, flying in the sky the next like
- 35:52Speaker 4: which one is it going to be?
- 35:53Speaker 1: Is? What's your name? Danaris? From?
- 35:56Speaker 5: Oh fuck no, not that I don't know.
- 36:00Speaker 2: She'll never be seen again.
- 36:01Speaker 5: You don't seen that ship ever.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Seen before. She will be remember remember money on that.
- 36:08Speaker 4: You know, you know that random nigga verse desert area
- 36:11Speaker 4: where they drop, that's where she is.
- 36:14Speaker 5: She's she's there.
- 36:15Speaker 1: We'll see Pyro again before we see her.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Definitely see Pyro again before we see her.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Oh obviously, Wolverine.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Probably ain't gonna be in No Wall. You think Hugh
- 36:26Speaker 2: Jackman gonna be in Jain. He may do a can
- 36:30Speaker 2: in Secret Wars, not in Doomsday.
- 36:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, maybe that version.
- 36:34Speaker 4: But I do think you'll get another multiversal version because
- 36:37Speaker 4: I remember Ben was like, how do they you know
- 36:40Speaker 4: how since they mentioned fifty times, well, how do you
- 36:43Speaker 4: connect that? I was like, well, Japan was there, so
- 36:45Speaker 4: Japan was one of the major players there, and there's
- 36:46Speaker 4: a whole huge as storyline of Wolverine coming up in Japan.
- 36:49Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 36:52Speaker 1: But uh yeah. But to the question Ben like, that's
- 36:56Speaker 1: what's so crazy about what's happening now, It's like, don't know,
- 37:00Speaker 1: we don't know, and so we didn't even Yeah, Hercules.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Is that you know, you've never seen her, which you're
- 37:11Speaker 5: talking about.
- 37:12Speaker 2: That's another one you ain't never seen again when they
- 37:15Speaker 2: went back to ted last so.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Wow, oh yeah, because Jane technically it.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Is so messy.
- 37:24Speaker 1: They did too much.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Then she she didn't die right now. He brought him to.
- 37:30Speaker 4: He brought it back and Viking Heaven, I thought, And
- 37:33Speaker 4: when he talked to who's the guy who who's the
- 37:36Speaker 4: being a cosmic being at the very end of things
- 37:38Speaker 4: or whatever his name is, Ben, I mean your guy
- 37:40Speaker 4: who was made of stars internity. Then he talked to
- 37:43Speaker 4: him and then they fixed everything. I don't know anymore.
- 37:46Speaker 2: No, no, because she was going and Thor is with
- 37:49Speaker 2: off with love with you know, love and Thunder with
- 37:52Speaker 2: his new daughter, who might be No, she's.
- 37:56Speaker 1: She's yeah, his daughter.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear that whole thing.
- 38:02Speaker 1: And that's real daughter. I'm like, okay, so now it's
- 38:05Speaker 1: just the family.
- 38:06Speaker 2: This is Jesus, this is wild.
- 38:09Speaker 4: Like I know what you're saying, I know what you
- 38:11Speaker 4: got are saying, though, like you kind of knew where
- 38:12Speaker 4: things were going, but you were still surprised at the execution.
- 38:15Speaker 5: And now it's just a les.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You just knew who was on the team, Yeah, you
- 38:19Speaker 2: knew who was on the team of Avengeance. Now it's
- 38:22Speaker 2: like we have an Avengeance movement coming and there's not
- 38:25Speaker 2: even time for us to you know, there's not even
- 38:27Speaker 2: a movie before where we're like, okay, all these cats
- 38:29Speaker 2: are on the team. It's just like we're gonna find
- 38:31Speaker 2: out in the movie.
- 38:32Speaker 5: A TV show that's what happens.
- 38:34Speaker 1: It's not exciting the way that it was before, you know,
- 38:37Speaker 1: like go back to Infinity War when half of them
- 38:40Speaker 1: got you know, dusted, and then the next one end
- 38:42Speaker 1: game you're like, okay, Like I think I know what
- 38:45Speaker 1: the group is going to be. I still even the
- 38:49Speaker 1: surprises they're gonna bring to us, we're gonna be like
- 38:51Speaker 1: that's what you're doing. I'm hoping I'll be.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Maybe the problem is the reverence that you had, like
- 38:59Speaker 4: in the in that side of the end game Infinity Saga,
- 39:02Speaker 4: like you built up a reverence and emotion for all
- 39:06Speaker 4: of the characters, whether you knew them or not, whether
- 39:08Speaker 4: you knew the story doesn't matter. There is none of
- 39:10Speaker 4: that here, Like with the exception of some characters that
- 39:13Speaker 4: you know from back in the day.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Quote, what reverence do you have? Really?
- 39:18Speaker 4: Again, unless you're a combo fan and you know certain characters,
- 39:21Speaker 4: like I don't see any character that's out newish that
- 39:26Speaker 4: people are like, oh man, I can't wait to see
- 39:27Speaker 4: them do this or do.
- 39:29Speaker 5: That, Like I don't.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Shane Chee is the one that keeps coming up and
- 39:32Speaker 1: they haven't given anything like that.
- 39:34Speaker 5: Brandon.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I know a lot of people that that's one of
- 39:37Speaker 1: their favorite Like a lot of regular audience go people
- 39:39Speaker 1: that they say that that's one of their favorite Marvel
- 39:40Speaker 1: movies the past few years. Okay, that's okay, that's just
- 39:44Speaker 1: my circle though. But like for me, I just, yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I want to be Marvel and Tom Holland. You know,
- 39:52Speaker 2: I want to say, Okay, Tom.
- 39:53Speaker 4: Holland's the one, the one few rare ones where he
- 39:57Speaker 4: has reverence right, will follow him the end of the
- 40:00Speaker 4: Earth as a character. Fine, hopefully Miss Marvel will be
- 40:02Speaker 4: there too, But her own movie with the other Marvel
- 40:05Speaker 4: superheroes got trashed so bad, like people didn't even have
- 40:08Speaker 4: a chance to shine as bright.
- 40:10Speaker 5: As she is.
- 40:10Speaker 4: She even have a chance to really shine and be loved.
- 40:12Speaker 4: And that's my problem. A lot of these catchters haven't
- 40:14Speaker 4: had a chance to be loved enough that now you
- 40:17Speaker 4: can group them together and say here's the new Avengers.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Like yeah, and Surry's storyline in Wakanda Forever was so heavy,
- 40:24Speaker 1: you know, I mean, you don't know where her character's
- 40:26Speaker 1: gonna go now, and that I mean that just for
- 40:29Speaker 1: obvious reasons. You know, that just had to be. That's
- 40:32Speaker 1: what put Ryan Coogler in the top five directors of
- 40:34Speaker 1: all time for me, because I'm like, just to get
- 40:36Speaker 1: that movie to the finish line. Yeah, man, that it
- 40:40Speaker 1: was rough, but I still remember being shot Endgame, and
- 40:43Speaker 1: I keep up with all the movie news and nerds
- 40:46Speaker 1: stuff and all the secret you know, rumors and all
- 40:49Speaker 1: that stuff. And when that, you know, the headed Thanos
- 40:52Speaker 1: and then it fades out and says, five years later, Yeah, no,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I lost my min Wow. Yeah, I can't believe they
- 41:00Speaker 1: pull the others. Just hopefully they do it again.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Yeah, you gotta, you got.
- 41:04Speaker 4: They gotta make us love these folks, give us a
- 41:06Speaker 4: time and the space and opportunity to love these folks
- 41:09Speaker 4: so that when you see it intersteallal like five years later,
- 41:12Speaker 4: that fucking means something, you know.
- 41:15Speaker 2: And I just to wrap it up, I don't really
- 41:18Speaker 2: think that they need to do an end Game or
- 41:21Speaker 2: Infinity War level. I just need a First Avengers level
- 41:24Speaker 2: of film from this, you know, And I'd be more
- 41:27Speaker 2: than satisfied.
- 41:27Speaker 1: For Doomsday or foray okay war has to be bigger
- 41:32Speaker 1: than everything, but.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's going to be though that that by nature,
- 41:35Speaker 2: and by then I think because Doomsday, I think is
- 41:37Speaker 2: gonna beat the big set up, you know where it's like,
- 41:40Speaker 2: and I think they're gonna end up splitting Secret Wars
- 41:42Speaker 2: into two films. Yeah, so I don't think that Doomsday
- 41:46Speaker 2: is gonna, you know, have to do all the heavy lifting.
- 41:48Speaker 2: I just think Doomsday is gonna be a great film
- 41:51Speaker 2: where we're like, Okay, it's cided and that we're probably
- 41:54Speaker 2: gonna see Maybe I don't understand how they're gonna do yet,
- 41:58Speaker 2: but maybe we'll see the creation of battle World in Doomsday,
- 42:02Speaker 2: because that was the rumors that everything from Doomsday to
- 42:05Speaker 2: Secret Wars, everything that comes out in between those two
- 42:08Speaker 2: films will take place on battle World where Secret Wars
- 42:11Speaker 2: will take place. So like Spider Man will be a
- 42:14Speaker 2: multiversal film because that comes out after Doomsday and then
- 42:18Speaker 2: we'll get Secret Wars. So I think Doomsday, you know,
- 42:21Speaker 2: if it is good, can just make us where we're like, okay,
- 42:25Speaker 2: you know, what the fuck are they gonna do next Dog,
- 42:27Speaker 2: you know, and then we'll get to Yeah, so we'll
- 42:30Speaker 2: see and I think Fantastic Four also, yeah, God willing Man,
- 42:35Speaker 2: please because I'm so hyped right now. All right, Uh,
- 42:40Speaker 2: some other news we wanted to talk about. I guess yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 2: Bo the Mayo, the former show runner. I mean, real quick,
- 42:51Speaker 2: you know, I don't want to get this too much
- 42:53Speaker 2: more burn than it is. Release another video. I guess
- 42:58Speaker 2: you gotta let me know.
- 42:59Speaker 5: You because I didn't see it.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, he released another video a few days ago.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I mean it's like twenty something minutes and basically he
- 43:08Speaker 1: just talks about you know, it's more it's weird. It's
- 43:12Speaker 1: like he's he's talking around the microaggressions and experiences he
- 43:15Speaker 1: had working at Marble, but then it's just like I
- 43:18Speaker 1: experienced so much toxic toxicity and like hetero you know,
- 43:22Speaker 1: microaggressions and all these things. And you know, I'm a
- 43:26Speaker 1: surprised that he was able to you know, hit at
- 43:28Speaker 1: some of the stuff, given the NDAs that, you know,
- 43:30Speaker 1: even with him being fired and everything. I believe he
- 43:34Speaker 1: also positive that stuff we might see in season two
- 43:36Speaker 1: of X Men, even though his name might be on
- 43:38Speaker 1: it may not be like what he approved story wise.
- 43:42Speaker 1: So no, he's not giving himself. He's kind of giving
- 43:45Speaker 1: himself some leeway in case it sucks.
- 43:46Speaker 2: He's like, hey, I don't they worried about that, bro?
- 43:49Speaker 2: They scrapped your ship, like you can guarantee that because
- 43:53Speaker 2: that's you know, lawsuits, et cetera. They don't want anything
- 43:56Speaker 2: to do with that, I've been on shows and gotten
- 43:58Speaker 2: fired mid season. You know, It's like, even though some
- 44:02Speaker 2: of the ideas made it to the spring, it was
- 44:04Speaker 2: definitely different than the way that we wrote it. So
- 44:06Speaker 2: that you know, they have enough legal to you know,
- 44:08Speaker 2: get away with it.
- 44:09Speaker 1: But a lot of people need to understand that, like
- 44:11Speaker 1: he was involved in a lot of projects. He took
- 44:13Speaker 1: a crack up blade like he It's not like he
- 44:15Speaker 1: just like was hired for this, you know, X He
- 44:19Speaker 1: was doing a lot of stuff So clearly there's a
- 44:22Speaker 1: lot of bad blood there. I think we'll never fully
- 44:25Speaker 1: get the whole story, but it's just unfortunate because X
- 44:28Speaker 1: Men ninety seven is one of the best things that's
- 44:30Speaker 1: come out of Marble in years. And Yeah, and it's
- 44:35Speaker 1: also like I'm not liking to trin them seeing like
- 44:38Speaker 1: you know, Rifley or Not for being terminated Marvel's relationship
- 44:42Speaker 1: with Black Creatives. I'm not liking like the trajectory between
- 44:45Speaker 1: Nate Moore kind of stepping back. He's gonna be involved
- 44:48Speaker 1: with Black Panther three supposedly, but.
- 44:50Speaker 2: He's started back, oh damn.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah, And like you know, you know, obviously Captain America,
- 44:55Speaker 1: Brad new world being kind of the mess that it is,
- 44:57Speaker 1: especially from when we've heard about production. I just I'm
- 45:00Speaker 1: not a fan of it. I'm not. I'm not.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Like the creator of Pose said that he couldn't even
- 45:07Speaker 6: get a meeting about the new X Men film, like
- 45:12Speaker 6: you know, and they were not trying to give him,
- 45:16Speaker 6: no them, no burn.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, like that's what Bo says. It's like the
- 45:20Speaker 1: representation for LGBT community is basically non existent.
- 45:25Speaker 2: So did not help, you know what, I.
- 45:28Speaker 4: Sadly like, No, no he did, he didn't help, but
- 45:31Speaker 4: but he but he But that's also a symptom of
- 45:33Speaker 4: just everything that Brandon was saying, like how you know,
- 45:36Speaker 4: and just won the companies got what they needed for
- 45:39Speaker 4: that time, in that frame and time, that point in
- 45:41Speaker 4: time where it was, you know, they're the tractors were
- 45:44Speaker 4: the loudest, you know, the detractors against oh you don't
- 45:47Speaker 4: you don't give queer people enough shots, you know, when
- 45:49Speaker 4: it actually was hurting their bottom line. So then they
- 45:51Speaker 4: did something about it, but it was it was just
- 45:54Speaker 4: for the money.
- 45:54Speaker 5: They didn't really care. And then once they got what
- 45:56Speaker 5: they did, we were out the door.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Just like how you couldn't like you couldn't remember when
- 46:00Speaker 4: the first black panther came out, Ben, I mean, and
- 46:01Speaker 4: we couldn't fucking take two breaths without someone saying, please
- 46:05Speaker 4: do this, do this, and do that. There's so many
- 46:07Speaker 4: projects for many opportunities, and then it's like once they
- 46:09Speaker 4: get what they want, you don't exist anymore, you know
- 46:12Speaker 4: what I mean. Like it's just like it's not it
- 46:14Speaker 4: was never genuine, just like a lot of stuff these
- 46:17Speaker 4: companies do was never genuine in the first place.
- 46:19Speaker 5: It was just to fulfill that particular.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Check mark, and then they don't see it for them anymore,
- 46:24Speaker 4: so they just let everybody go. So but I agree
- 46:28Speaker 4: with you, Brandon. I don't like that trajectory. I don't
- 46:30Speaker 4: like all that is going. And it's just like starting
- 46:34Speaker 4: from the bottom all.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Over again, you know. And that's the thing. It's like
- 46:37Speaker 2: when bo is the only representation they have and then
- 46:41Speaker 2: you know he does something. White men do something every day,
- 46:46Speaker 2: but there's always another white man to replace them. You know.
- 46:48Speaker 2: It's like you don't notice or even care, but with
- 46:51Speaker 2: Bou does something, it's a big deal. And now they
- 46:54Speaker 2: have no representation and now they can be like, well,
- 46:56Speaker 2: we gave you representation to see how you ask right
- 46:58Speaker 2: and see what you did, and it's like, nah, bro,
- 47:01Speaker 2: but you give all these vitamin and every day and
- 47:04Speaker 2: they add up every day. I was just reading about
- 47:07Speaker 2: Josh Trank, the directors for Reboot, and I've read this
- 47:12Speaker 2: whole long autoclut. I've read one before about him, and
- 47:16Speaker 2: it's just like the about a Hubris and ego and
- 47:20Speaker 2: pride and how that man through his career away and
- 47:24Speaker 2: how you got chances after throwing his career away and
- 47:28Speaker 2: still threw it away more and it's just like, man, yo,
- 47:31Speaker 2: it's crazy, right, men, get away with it.
- 47:33Speaker 1: It was it was so bad that like this. He
- 47:35Speaker 1: was just like, yeah, we gotta take the Star Wars
- 47:37Speaker 1: away from you, like because he trashed this hotel room.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Yeah, he tried teller.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Yeah he was saying that movie.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he had a fight with Myles. They said smoking
- 47:47Speaker 2: weed every day on set. I mean I would have
- 47:49Speaker 2: been doing that. But you gotta keep it cool, you know.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Fam Like I've seen people on set smoking weed and telling,
- 47:54Speaker 2: you know, direct and ship, but you gotta you know,
- 47:55Speaker 2: you gotta keep it.
- 47:56Speaker 5: But you can't.
- 47:57Speaker 4: But that's because you're already doing your job. It's not
- 48:00Speaker 4: me do your smoke it Like you.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Can't smoke weed and fight Miles Tellor. Bro. I mean
- 48:03Speaker 2: I want to fight Miles Teller either way. I get it.
- 48:06Speaker 2: You know, I feel you, fam but no, you know.
- 48:09Speaker 1: He's main star too, Like you can just be you're mad.
- 48:14Speaker 2: I swear. I read an interview with him once where
- 48:16Speaker 2: he said I have a punishable face, and I was like,
- 48:18Speaker 2: word to god, you do, Miles Teller, Like you are
- 48:20Speaker 2: not lying, Bro, you you are a truth sayer. Shout out.
- 48:29Speaker 2: I don't know how to transition to that, but I
- 48:31Speaker 2: do want to give you get another shout out to severance.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Latest episode. Fire is always one of the best shows
- 48:38Speaker 2: on TV right now. If you're not peeping it, you
- 48:41Speaker 2: need to. I'm still waiting on tie down to the
- 48:43Speaker 2: catch up so we can do some proper reviews of it,
- 48:45Speaker 2: because god damn that show is something else. Uhat watch it?
- 48:50Speaker 5: You watch Brandon?
- 48:52Speaker 1: I don't you know what's wild is? I have I
- 48:54Speaker 1: have access to all the Apple TV stuff because you
- 48:56Speaker 1: know the film Critics thing, and that's the one I
- 48:58Speaker 1: haven't watched yet because I've been watching the studio Seth Rogan's.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I'll watched that joint man, we got We're under Indiago so.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah, I haven't watched Severance, but
- 49:11Speaker 1: it's on the dock because I loved what most of
- 49:13Speaker 1: what Ben Stiller does, you know what I mean, Adam
- 49:15Speaker 1: Scott is like really solid, So I am going to
- 49:17Speaker 1: check it out, but.
- 49:19Speaker 2: I slept on it forever.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I think I want to wait until the end of
- 49:22Speaker 1: the second season though, because I I hate getting into
- 49:24Speaker 1: like shows that are very complex and I have a
- 49:26Speaker 1: lot of different things going on theories and then being
- 49:29Speaker 1: let down because Lost really fucks me up, Like I
- 49:32Speaker 1: have trust issues because I lost.
- 49:34Speaker 2: I don't understand that, like I'm I'm not get it,
- 49:36Speaker 2: but I don't. I'm one of the biggest loss for that.
- 49:38Speaker 2: It's ever you know, and to this day, I don't.
- 49:40Speaker 2: I have no problem with anything they did, like I thought,
- 49:43Speaker 2: because one, it's a rare show, like you know, you
- 49:47Speaker 2: noticed but television didn't used to have indis, So it's
- 49:50Speaker 2: a rare show that has a good ending because that's
- 49:54Speaker 2: a new thing, you know, to end the show, like
- 49:56Speaker 2: that's a recent development. Two, I don't really have a
- 50:00Speaker 2: problem with losses ending and Lost Journey is impeccable, so
- 50:06Speaker 2: how you know, it's like I was rewatching The Constant
- 50:09Speaker 2: the other day or a few weeks ago. It's one
- 50:11Speaker 2: of my favorite episodes of televisions ever made.
- 50:14Speaker 1: That's season three, right, Yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 2: And it still fucked me up. And then like talking
- 50:19Speaker 2: to Linda Off because we had him on the show
- 50:20Speaker 2: a few times, when he explains how they were making
- 50:23Speaker 2: that show week to week, it's like, I really can't
- 50:27Speaker 2: be mad at what they were creating. When you're writing
- 50:29Speaker 2: a whole script for so every week, you know, that's
- 50:34Speaker 2: how they were doing. The only time they had a
- 50:36Speaker 2: break was when they had a strike, and that's when
- 50:38Speaker 2: they got to do season three and really plan shit out.
- 50:41Speaker 2: But beyond that, man, it was great. And I don't
- 50:44Speaker 2: think that Severns are going to have the ending problem
- 50:47Speaker 2: and I think the journey so far it's just been ridiculous.
- 50:50Speaker 2: So I don't. Yeah, I could care less how it ends. Yeah,
- 50:54Speaker 2: it's already given me everything I need.
- 50:57Speaker 5: I'm like, I can't ready to get into it.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Like and Or, I fully expect and Or to
- 51:01Speaker 2: have a great ending, only because they know exactly where
- 51:04Speaker 2: they're gonna end. But then again, I'm more concerned with
- 51:09Speaker 2: the second season of and door and how that journey
- 51:11Speaker 2: will go because I think the first season is damn
- 51:13Speaker 2: near perfect that I want them to do another perfect season.
- 51:17Speaker 2: And the ending already know, like they've already said the
- 51:19Speaker 2: ending of vandors him walking into the alley that we
- 51:22Speaker 2: see him walk out of in row.
- 51:24Speaker 5: One does lightly strike twice.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's like, how does that journey happen? So
- 51:28Speaker 2: to me, it's like the ending is kind of a
- 51:30Speaker 2: irrelevant a lot of times and stories. It's like how
- 51:33Speaker 2: do you get there?
- 51:34Speaker 1: You know, I get that.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I get that.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I would love to, like, you know, do like a
- 51:39Speaker 1: debate with you about Lost, like a side project or someone,
- 51:43Speaker 1: just because you know, I'm not prepared to debate by
- 51:46Speaker 1: issues with it because I have a lot. I have
- 51:47Speaker 1: a laundess of issues, but I.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Have issues with it, Like I think the whole last
- 51:51Speaker 2: season is.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Like, well, the whole last season was a lie. Sorry,
- 51:55Speaker 1: but I just I don't care. This is a purgatory
- 51:58Speaker 1: and like blah blah blah. And it's like, hey, we
- 52:00Speaker 1: just flash forwards flashbacks and now would do a flash sideways.
- 52:03Speaker 1: I'm likegg what like but that's what?
- 52:05Speaker 2: But then again, the last season has Sun and June,
- 52:07Speaker 2: you know, going down together in a ship, you know,
- 52:10Speaker 2: and given one of the most heartfelt speeches of all time.
- 52:12Speaker 2: So it's like, and I also think their choice and
- 52:15Speaker 2: that was ridiculous, but you know they died together and
- 52:18Speaker 2: it was more.
- 52:18Speaker 1: From so many children alone. Yeah, it happens.
- 52:21Speaker 2: You know, shit happens, bro. You know Disney child grow
- 52:25Speaker 2: to be superhero. That's how you that's how you make
- 52:27Speaker 2: it in this in the television world, like right your parents. Yeah,
- 52:33Speaker 2: so it'll be great. Yeah, I'm not mad at loss,
- 52:36Speaker 2: and I'm definitely not mad at.
- 52:37Speaker 4: Some I want to keep you know, saluting Showgun. If
- 52:42Speaker 4: you haven't seen it, Brandon, Oh my.
- 52:44Speaker 1: God, I've seen. Have I seen Showgun? Ask so why
- 52:47Speaker 1: in front of me? On my second mind, I've seen.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Okay, yes, okay, all right, because I've been I've been watching.
- 52:53Speaker 4: We've been watching well, Ben, I mean, I know you
- 52:55Speaker 4: said you started a little bit ago.
- 52:57Speaker 2: I gotta go back to it.
- 52:58Speaker 1: You got to go back to it.
- 53:00Speaker 2: It's the thing is like, I know it's great, but
- 53:02Speaker 2: it's also like this is another thing, like I've started
- 53:06Speaker 2: watching Solo leveling the anime out right now. All shout
- 53:10Speaker 2: out to my brother drew the grime. He hit me up.
- 53:13Speaker 2: It was like, yo, you got it, you know, And
- 53:15Speaker 2: so I was like, all right, I'll give it a shot.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Even though I'm not the biggest anime fan, even though
- 53:19Speaker 2: I did watch Yokamato Days Rightmoto Day, Sakamoto Days The Assassin,
- 53:25Speaker 2: and so I started watching Solo, lovel and Leveling. I
- 53:29Speaker 2: watched the first three episodes. The end of the third
- 53:31Speaker 2: episode has a really big twist that actually made me
- 53:33Speaker 2: want to keep going on it. But god damn, that
- 53:36Speaker 2: show is violent, and I mean, like it's an anime,
- 53:40Speaker 2: but you know, it's my hand and this one is
- 53:44Speaker 2: ebsessive and that's you know, that was my thing with Shogun,
- 53:48Speaker 2: Like I'm I'm a like, I'm very cognizant of the
- 53:52Speaker 2: amount of violence I take in, you know, like especially
- 53:54Speaker 2: watching and Shogun. I remember some dudes he gets chopped off,
- 53:58Speaker 2: like Psychic.
- 53:59Speaker 5: Episode one, episode one.
- 54:00Speaker 4: I was but but but for the record, that was
- 54:03Speaker 4: just that particular episode. And I know it seems like
- 54:06Speaker 4: so much has happened, but that's like literally episode one.
- 54:08Speaker 4: That they're not people's not getting choped off every episode, okay, because.
- 54:11Speaker 1: That's there are people that taking their own line, but
- 54:16Speaker 1: it's not.
- 54:16Speaker 5: But no, why know what Ben's talking about, Like.
- 54:18Speaker 2: It's not Game of Thrones because I can only because
- 54:23Speaker 2: I can only do that.
- 54:24Speaker 4: Like all I'm saying is that is not happening every episode. Man,
- 54:28Speaker 4: that was particularly shocking for me. Also, I was like, oh, ship,
- 54:32Speaker 4: Like I didn't expect that.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's a lot of death. I mean, don't
- 54:35Speaker 1: believe it, but there's a lot of death.
- 54:37Speaker 2: But there's about it's just you know, I get it.
- 54:41Speaker 2: It doesn't be that type of stuff. And that's why,
- 54:43Speaker 2: like I'll be honest even uh better cass all, I
- 54:48Speaker 2: have three episodes left, I think of the whole thing
- 54:52Speaker 2: because there's a shocking moment of violence in that fourth
- 54:55Speaker 2: to last episode where I was say, y'all, I don't
- 54:57Speaker 2: even know if you know, I'm good because it's like
- 55:02Speaker 2: I've seen the Wire, you know, I've seen greatness of
- 55:05Speaker 2: TV already. You know, It's like I don't really need
- 55:08Speaker 2: to see another great TV if it's just you know, violence,
- 55:13Speaker 2: et cetera, and other things that make it great. You know,
- 55:15Speaker 2: It's like I can go watch like something like Severance
- 55:19Speaker 2: where thinking, well, no, there was some violence.
- 55:23Speaker 5: I think there's always going to be, especially it's just
- 55:28Speaker 5: like how much.
- 55:30Speaker 1: And also it depends on the genre too of the
- 55:32Speaker 1: show and thinks you're watching, Like, for instance, Better Call
- 55:34Speaker 1: Sauw is like a legal Western, you know what I mean.
- 55:37Speaker 1: So it's there's sporadic violence, but it's not. That's not
- 55:40Speaker 1: what it's about. And it is so underrated, so underrated
- 55:45Speaker 1: that Bob oden Kirk did his damn thing on that.
- 55:47Speaker 1: I thought his relationship with his brother Chuck was one
- 55:49Speaker 1: of the best rivalries I've ever seen in like cinema.
- 55:53Speaker 1: It's so good.
- 55:54Speaker 2: I also think Better Call Saul is overrated, but that's
- 55:57Speaker 2: a whole. That's a whole. I think look at the
- 55:59Speaker 2: Baby shows.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Man, I think.
- 56:00Speaker 2: It's great but overrated in another way. But that's another
- 56:04Speaker 2: whole discussion.
- 56:06Speaker 1: We'll get Denzel to produce it.
- 56:09Speaker 2: One other one I wanted to mention is the new
- 56:12Speaker 2: season of Invincible is out right now. I'm loving it.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I'm called up to the latest episode. It's better than
- 56:20Speaker 2: last season so far. It's better. They've improved on moments
- 56:25Speaker 2: from the comic in a lot of ways that I'm
- 56:28Speaker 2: really loving. I love the more exploration of shrinking Violet,
- 56:33Speaker 2: or you can't remember her name, the girl construl, the
- 56:35Speaker 2: woman who can shrink, and what's his name with Red Splode,
- 56:41Speaker 2: Like they're having that whole relationship they're exploring wasn't in
- 56:45Speaker 2: the comics at all. Adam Eve and Invincible's relationship is
- 56:49Speaker 2: done better, so much better in the show so far
- 56:53Speaker 2: than it was in the comics, even though that's one
- 56:55Speaker 2: of my favorite I mean, you know, We've talked about
- 56:57Speaker 2: this multiple times. Invincible is one of my favorite comics.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Ark and Mark and Eves relationship, it's just one of
- 57:03Speaker 2: my favorite relationships in comics, and I'm loving it on
- 57:06Speaker 2: the show. There's some episodes coming up. I can tell
- 57:09Speaker 2: you that they are going to be some of the
- 57:11Speaker 2: darkest ship you have seen there is.
- 57:13Speaker 5: As we keep seeing on Invincible.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah that's just Kirkly.
- 57:17Speaker 2: There's an episode coming up that has a common storyline
- 57:21Speaker 2: in it that it's just and then in general, I
- 57:24Speaker 2: love like with no spoilers at all, there's just ship
- 57:27Speaker 2: being set up right now, and I'm sitting there like,
- 57:29Speaker 2: I hate you, motherfucker because I know what they're going
- 57:32Speaker 2: to turn into and it is it's being super well done.
- 57:36Speaker 2: So yeah, they're they're really doing their thing with this
- 57:38Speaker 2: latest season.
- 57:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm enjoying it honestly. For me, sometimes Invincible can
- 57:44Speaker 4: do no wrong. They had some missteps last season, but
- 57:46Speaker 4: or is it last season on the other half of
- 57:50Speaker 4: this season.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Remember this is the new season that was season three?
- 57:54Speaker 5: Okay, all right, And that's.
- 57:56Speaker 2: Another one where we talk about violence. Like, even as
- 57:58Speaker 2: much as I'm loving it, sometimes that shows like ye
- 58:02Speaker 2: will man, I get it, but you need to show
- 58:05Speaker 2: all this.
- 58:06Speaker 1: But the way they did the violence. I remember seen
- 58:08Speaker 1: the first episode and my wife and I are like, oh, yeah,
- 58:10Speaker 1: this is fine, and then the last five minutes you're
- 58:14Speaker 1: like whoa ye, Like okay, this is something different. And
- 58:17Speaker 1: that's when I got like brilliant. I started reading the
- 58:19Speaker 1: comics and yeah, yeah, then you're you're one hundred percent right.
- 58:22Speaker 1: People are not ready in the way that if you
- 58:24Speaker 1: haven't played Last of Us two the video game, like
- 58:27Speaker 1: you're about to see some fucked up ship.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Come yeah the twist uh. And the way these charrapists
- 58:34Speaker 2: grow and change over the series is like, and I
- 58:37Speaker 2: was talking to another best friends about you, and there's
- 58:39Speaker 2: like I was even reading all reading and stuff, and
- 58:42Speaker 2: there's storylines where I can say with like Anissa the
- 58:47Speaker 2: Vilchramite that I don't know how they're going to do,
- 58:51Speaker 2: you know, I really do not know how to do.
- 58:53Speaker 2: But they are so important to the overall story of
- 58:56Speaker 2: Invincible that they have to happen. But it is going
- 58:59Speaker 2: to really do a lot. And Robot and Monster Girls
- 59:04Speaker 2: story is something that I don't think people are gonna
- 59:07Speaker 2: be ready for. It's a lot, man, It's that series
- 59:10Speaker 2: is a lot and I can't wait to see it though,
- 59:14Speaker 2: And like I say, even beyond all that, there's an
- 59:17Speaker 2: episode this season that it was a one issue story
- 59:21Speaker 2: in the book and I've seen the title episode and
- 59:24Speaker 2: I saw the preview. I think it might be two
- 59:26Speaker 2: episodes away or next week. I'm not sure, but it's
- 59:29Speaker 2: a heartbreak. It is like one of them, like, Yo,
- 59:32Speaker 2: what the fuck, Kurt Man? You know when I read
- 59:33Speaker 2: that in real time? And they're not gonna shy away
- 59:37Speaker 2: from it because, like I say, it takes place in
- 59:38Speaker 2: one episode and it's very important to like, even this episode,
- 59:42Speaker 2: the latest one that just dropped with the Immortal is
- 59:46Speaker 2: all very important to the future. It's just all setting
- 59:49Speaker 2: up things. It's all lessons and Marcus learning where things
- 59:51Speaker 2: will change and he'll grow and it should be a journey.
- 59:55Speaker 2: I can't wait to see it all. Right before we
- 59:58Speaker 2: get out of here, mister, please let the people know
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: where they can find you at.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Yes, I'm at Proto, Underscore, Black Antil, Instagram and Threads
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: and of course Drunk Black History. The tour starts next Friday,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: on February twenty first in Los Angeles Dynasty Typewriter, and
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: then we're in New York City for two shows, then
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: followed by Austin, Texas. And there's plenty more cities and
