- 0:00Just maybe the drunkest NFL weekend of football I've
- 0:04ever seen. And I do mean the play on the field, not me, but also
- 0:07me, because what we did on Friday night after your birthday party. Also,
- 0:11the Dodgers might not be ruining baseball after all.
- 0:14And Adam Schefter, holy shit, you got some fucking explaining to
- 0:18do. Ladies and gentlemen, you're amongst friends. We're The Regulars. I'm Cody
- 0:22Decker. I'm Tanya Ray Fox. And no matter what I say today, please remember,
- 0:25I actually do really love football.
- 0:35We've made it yet again to another week. I don't know
- 0:39how. I think AI is coming for everyone. Our jobs, our lives,
- 0:42you name it. Data centers are on the way, although there's less Russian bots out
- 0:46there all of a sudden. That's been funny to follow. And congratulations
- 0:50to our new press secretary who will likely be in this job within
- 0:5310 days. Tanya, you do fit a look. What do you say about becoming
- 0:57our new press secretary? I think they should let me
- 1:01do it. I think they should, too. I think— listen, if I could con
- 1:04my way in there, if I hadn't talked so much shit already on the internet,
- 1:08I really think I could have gotten the job and I could have caused at
- 1:10least, at least one day's worth of mayhem that
- 1:15I think would really be— it could really upset the entire balance of everything we're
- 1:18dealing with in the United States. I'm just saying that, like, I think you could
- 1:21infiltrate. I think it'd be good because look at— look, they afterwards,
- 1:24they even talked about her law degree that apparently she has in China,
- 1:28which definitely didn't raise any alarm bells at all on that. On that one.
- 1:31Um, boy, um, this is fun. This is fun.
- 1:35November is 3 weeks away. Can't come quick enough.
- 1:38Elections can't come quick enough. Flipping that fucking House and Senate cannot come
- 1:43quick enough. I'm so tired. Oh, and I— listen, I don't
- 1:46have the highest hopes for the, uh, the Democrats these days, but if we get
- 1:50a couple of those, a couple of those senators in there that are a little
- 1:53bit more hardcore, maybe we could do something about this because I'm so Tired.
- 1:57I, I have gotten to the point where I am avoiding discourse on things I
- 2:01normally talk about because I'm like, I can't get yelled at today. I just can't
- 2:04get yelled at today. I can't deal with sexism. I can't deal with— I can't
- 2:06deal with that. Yeah, it's a lot. It's a lot out there. Okay, let's go
- 2:09ahead and just get to the fun stuff. The football of the weekend, the drunkenness
- 2:13that was. Holy shit, Tanya, the games that took place starting with
- 2:17London all the way to Monday Night Football was— I don't know what
- 2:21to say other than just batshit. It was batshit game after batshit game, ending after
- 2:25ending, exciting endings that end in a fucking whimper.
- 2:28Tua. Yeah. Where do we start? I mean, I would
- 2:32still say that game, like, even the way it ended was just
- 2:36like, yeah, it was a whimper, but it was almost like it was like a
- 2:38slow motion car crash that we all saw coming, right? Like, it was so— that
- 2:42was so crazy. Obviously, we, we kicked the whole
- 2:47football Sunday off in London. But I do
- 2:50want to start with the
- 2:54Buffalo Bills-Rams game last night. Monday Night Football.
- 2:58What a fucking banger. It was a banger. It was the best Monday Monday Night
- 3:01Football game of the year, I think. I think so too. And, uh, the Rams
- 3:04lost in overtime 37-34 to the Bills.
- 3:08And there's a couple of, like, there's a couple of massive themes
- 3:11coming out of this. Obviously we're always talking about the quarterbacks. Yeah. But I do
- 3:15think that there's, there's maybe some subtext that you and I can explore that's a
- 3:19little bit more exciting than just like, oh wow, like the normal shit.
- 3:23So, uh, we saw Josh Allen can still take over a game
- 3:27with his legs. Good to see. Um, I— both
- 3:31he and James Cook were, were cooking on the ground.
- 3:34James Cook, a couple of fumbles, a really tough one
- 3:39in overtime that looked like it might end the game for them.
- 3:42Here's what I liked. I want to tell you what I liked. I,
- 3:45first of all, I hated that James Cook looked so upset with himself because let's
- 3:49be honest, Josh Allen— Josh Allen has it just since James Cook has
- 3:53been, been in the league, has more fumbles lost twice as many fumbles lost
- 3:56as James Cook. Yes, this is— this was tough, but this is not
- 4:00a— this is not a thing that, that, you know, you can blame specifically on
- 4:03him. It was also a crazy punch out by Landry. It was a crazy— it
- 4:06was— that's, that's a great point. It's just like sometimes crazy— that wasn't him being
- 4:10reckless with the ball. He was holding it, and Landry— and what
- 4:14they did, and when they got the ball back, I thought was so impressive.
- 4:17And I give Joe Brady credit for this. They went right back to James Cook.
- 4:20They handed it right back to him on the first play on that next possession.
- 4:24To, to win the game, right? So like that,
- 4:28that to me is— it says everything. It says everything about
- 4:32like their trust in him. And that makes me happy because we've wondered maybe what
- 4:36his relationship is to allowing James Cook to do his job.
- 4:42Do you want to talk about the Rams, your takeaway from the Rams, your takeaway
- 4:45from the Bills first in this game? Let's start with the Bills real
- 4:49quick, because my takeaway from the Bills was, wow, Josh Allen didn't actually play
- 4:53the hero ball that I was expecting him to play. He only made 19 attempts
- 4:57in the game. It was actually, as far as a passing game for him,
- 5:01it was almost— isn't this what we talked about last week that we wanted him
- 5:05to do though? Yeah, this is— it's exactly what we wanted. I said, I said,
- 5:07if you're— if you can't get the— your arm going, if the passing game's not
- 5:11working, look at who you have rushing them. They rushed. They— James was rushing.
- 5:14Josh was rushing. Josh was— now here's the thing. What the fuck?
- 5:19What the fuck was Chris Shula on defense, Colin,
- 5:22doing with empty sets. You have no like
- 5:26quarterback spy, you've got nobody like all game. I mean,
- 5:29truly there was just zero adjustment. Run rampant. Uh, that was
- 5:32wild. To Josh's credit, he wanted it. You could
- 5:36tell that this— he was like, I am not losing this game, I am not
- 5:41having a 3rd bad game in a row. It's not. And there are questions.
- 5:44I have questions about what's happened to Josh Allen's passing game.
- 5:47Okay, I do have questions about it. Do I think now's the time to really
- 5:50have them? Not really, because I like when a quarterback
- 5:53is struggling in one aspect and steps up in another in a way to
- 5:57win a game like that. The conversation around Josh Allen today
- 6:02is, is unhinged on social media, a little
- 6:05less unhinged in media, as I would think. There's a little more balance. There's some
- 6:09people who are like, MVP performance, relax. There's some people who
- 6:12are being weirdly critical. I don't like that either.
- 6:16I think we have to have a course correction conversation about Josh Allen. Okay,
- 6:19real quick. Josh had a couple of— like, he started out the season
- 6:23strong, 2 games in a row from there looked
- 6:26bad. Like, he just has looked bad. And in last night's game, I think
- 6:30we saw what makes him one of the best quarterbacks in the league, which is
- 6:35not that he is the greatest, most talented, most flawless
- 6:39quarterback we've ever seen, but he is genuinely,
- 6:43uh, able to kind of tap into
- 6:47a level of competitiveness and, and, uh,
- 6:51frustration with his own performance that results in this
- 6:55kind of stuff. Like, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to win this game.
- 6:57Yeah, I like when I can see that in a— I like when I can
- 7:01watch on, on the field and see in a quarterback that they want
- 7:05it more than the other guy. I thought I
- 7:09saw that in Josh Allen. He had never won a playoff game. He's in his
- 7:119th— I'm sorry, an overtime game. He's in his 9th season and
- 7:15he was 0 for 7. I know, in overtime games. I know. Wow. That's not
- 7:19good. No, he knows it's not good. We know it's not good.
- 7:22And I think that's why James Cook felt so badly about potentially blowing it up.
- 7:26But let's be honest, it— he didn't
- 7:30want it. Could you— I felt like I Could you not see it? No,
- 7:33he definitely wanted this. Yes. No, no question he wanted this. And that's why
- 7:37it was, it was kind of wild that they were about to blow it and
- 7:39the Rams were going down the field because they, after they got back that fumble
- 7:42in the overtime, they just fucking marched down the field like it was nothing.
- 7:45And then the exact flip side, because where the throwing game wasn't working for Josh,
- 7:48don't worry, the throwing game was more than working for fucking Matthew Stafford. Fucking 40
- 7:52completions in the game, like 22 attempts over to fucking
- 7:56Puka himself. He was marching down the field like it was absolutely nothing,
- 8:00which is why I was so fucking confused with
- 8:03that final set of downs leading to that kickoff,
- 8:06that attempted kick. It was really weird to me. I would love to hear your
- 8:10thoughts on this. I— so here's the thing,
- 8:14Sean, when it comes to Matthew Stafford and this,
- 8:17like, the amount that he passes in a game, Matthew Stafford— and I've said this
- 8:21before and I'll say it again— he's one of those quarterbacks where if he— if
- 8:25you got him throwing 50-something times a game It's a bad sign. Your run game's
- 8:29not going. He's either playing hero ball or playing catch-up. Right.
- 8:34And Sean McVay lets Matthew Stafford
- 8:38lean into his worst instincts. He's a, he's a Stafford enabler.
- 8:41Okay. Stafford wants to, like, he wants
- 8:44to throw it as many times as humanly possible. He always
- 8:48has. He's Brett Favre. Right. And I
- 8:52do think that like McVay almost overcompensated
- 8:56in that moment before the kick. The whole
- 8:59thing was bizarre, the whole— and I— and like McVay
- 9:03gets to this point because he was unwilling to sort
- 9:07of rein Matthew Stafford in and establish some sort of like— they couldn't—
- 9:12you don't— you cannot be throwing 50 times, marching yourself
- 9:17down the field and scoring quickly against a fucking dude who's running the ball
- 9:21down your throat and, and controlling the clock and
- 9:25also scoring at the same clip. You will lose that game every single time if
- 9:29you're passing and you're, and you're making these big play, quick possession scores
- 9:34and the next team is running the ball down your throat and also scoring.
- 9:38Guess who's going to fucking win? It's going to be the team who can take
- 9:41time off the clock and the team who like, that's just who's going to fucking
- 9:44win. I mean, normally I'd agree with you, except they should have won last night.
- 9:46They fucking blew it on that kick. Well, it was a— first of all,
- 9:50that motherfucker doesn't— he hasn't made that many kicks. That was— that was a little
- 9:53far out for him. I would agree. It was already a little far. His furthest
- 9:56of the year was like 47 yards. Right. He's already kicking in. I'm not kidding.
- 9:59At like 50% this season. And by the way, 48-yard field goal
- 10:03for a guy like that. But that's why I was so surprised by what they
- 10:06did, because they were marching down the field. They had like 2 straight 20-yard plays,
- 10:10and then all of a sudden they did this conservative running just to kind of
- 10:13get in place for him to kick a 50-fucking-yarder. I think he wanted to try
- 10:17to run time off the clock finally. He like, it was like he figured out
- 10:20what the clock was at the end of the fucking game. But they couldn't run.
- 10:23I know. Would have been better to try to establish something earlier
- 10:28on with that. And if you are going to do that, why are, why are
- 10:31you designing downfield plays? What? Because,
- 10:34because Matthew Stafford is like, he's not like a tempo
- 10:38quarterback. So he's a gun. He's got this gunslinger thing. What they would really love
- 10:43to have in that moment is somebody who can do a ton of these like
- 10:45quick out routes, like you don't get out of bounds, you're running down the clock,
- 10:48but you're still like, you're boom, boom, boom. But we're not making fucking chunk plays
- 10:52because this is what ends up happening. And so he had, couldn't get the run
- 10:55game going. He couldn't, there was, there was one option for him, which is like,
- 10:58do I, do I try to have
- 11:02Matthew throw another fucking bomb down the field and
- 11:06then we fuck it up? Or do we just kick it here? It was a,
- 11:09it, I just think it was mismanaged. And Sean McVay is not the only one
- 11:12who mismanaged the end of the game. But I— and I think John
- 11:16McVay is an excellent head coach. It's just something he does frequently. It's only that,
- 11:19by the way, just in case you didn't know, breaking news-ish. It happened
- 11:23a couple of hours ago. Mevis has been released by the Rams.
- 11:27Yeah, he's— he— that was rough. That was rough.
- 11:31I feel bad. You have one job. I don't know, man.
- 11:34It's that I don't think it came down to that kick because
- 11:38they shouldn't have been in that position. Um, but he missed a kick earlier
- 11:42in the game. Yeah, like it— like at that point, if you're gonna,
- 11:45you know, if you're gonna dance with the ones that brought you, like figure
- 11:49it out with, with, with Stafford. Um,
- 11:52and that's the thing is like we can say all we want, Stafford completed 40
- 11:56passes. Did you, did you do it when you could win the game? Yeah,
- 12:00because like that's what, that's what fucking— that's
- 12:04what Josh Allen did. Yeah, right. And he did it in a way that I
- 12:08think is more impressive because I think I
- 12:11could complete a pass downfield to Puka Nacua. Um, you know what
- 12:15I mean? And so I like— that's— I— what I saw honestly was I
- 12:19also liked, um, I was like really confused why Joe Brady was willing to just
- 12:23like kick it and end it like a little early, like he didn't want to
- 12:25get any closer, which makes me think that he was like, this is a sweet
- 12:27spot for my kicker. That was like weird, right? Like he was like, we're just
- 12:31gonna do it now. Like we're not even taking the extra downs to try to
- 12:33get closer. Um, there's just one of those games I'm like,
- 12:37I think you got— I think you got out-hustled. Yeah, it was—
- 12:41it was a hell of a game though, man. What a fucking back and forth.
- 12:43And I still feel okay about the Rams despite that loss again. But at one
- 12:47point, I don't— I'm not gonna lie, I don't— I— but the only reason I
- 12:51don't feel okay is because that team doesn't look like a team that could beat
- 12:54the Seahawks or the Niners in the playoffs. Not at the moment. No, not even
- 12:57fucking close. Not at the moment. They don't know. Like, and that's what worries me,
- 13:00to be quite honest. The Cardinals played their asses off this week, even against a
- 13:04really cooking offense. Without, without their wide receiver, like, that's a, that's quite
- 13:08a division. And I think the Rams should genuinely be concerned. I do actually think
- 13:12they should be concerned. Okay, well, let— we'll see how the season continues. They are
- 13:152-3 right now, should be 4-1, but they're not. So that's what I'm concerned about,
- 13:19because my concern, and I said this earlier today, it's not that they lost.
- 13:23It's, it's if you're a Super Bowl team, if you're really like a
- 13:26Super Bowl team, you fucking win that game. The end.
- 13:29That's all. And the Bills did. And the Bills won it. Yeah. And you
- 13:33figure out— I am, I am never one of those people who says they shouldn't
- 13:36have won the game. I'm— it's very hard to get me to say they shouldn't
- 13:39have won the game. You win an NFL game in primetime. And I
- 13:43feel that exact same way about the Ravens, which we'll talk about later. Oh,
- 13:45yes, we will. But let's get to— well,
- 13:49we, we've— we started with the end of the weekend. Yeah. Let's go
- 13:53to the very beginning in London early in the morning. I watched
- 13:56every fucking down of this. Did you? Okay. No, I was up bright
- 14:00and early. Okay. And, uh, really couldn't stop fucking laughing at
- 14:04the end. I finished this while I was at the gym. Yeah. And I was
- 14:06watching it on my phone at this point and just fucking laughing.
- 14:10I just couldn't fucking believe it. And here's the other thing. I want to give
- 14:14you this preface. Sure. Jason Kelce on the thing. And that's what Jalen
- 14:18Hurts does. He just figures out a way to win. There was 11
- 14:22seconds left in this game. Tanya, take it away. There was— there 11
- 14:26seconds? Might have even been less. I think it was 8. Was it 8 seconds?
- 14:30Yeah. I mean, if you're Jason Kelce, that's a perfectly reasonable
- 14:34thing to say. By the way, this was not my way of dunking on Jason
- 14:36Kelce. The game was fucking over. Yeah, Jalen Hurts
- 14:41got it done in London. The game was fucking over,
- 14:44and then it wasn't, and then somehow it wasn't. Which, by the way,
- 14:48I like. I like that we've had a couple games like this where it,
- 14:51like, it was over. Like, the Ravens-Cowboys game was over. The, like, this is
- 14:55It's never fucking over. Stop acting like it's over. This one's so slow.
- 14:59This was just hand-given away. In case anybody doesn't
- 15:03know, I don't know, the Eagles
- 15:08kick the go-ahead field goal with, I'm pretty sure, 8 seconds
- 15:12left. You might be right. It might have been under 10 seconds. And then I
- 15:15vaguely remember the word, the number 7 for some reason.
- 15:18I think they, I think they, the return took 7 seconds
- 15:22off the clock and they kicked the field goal with 1 second left. So I
- 15:25think that's what you're talking about. So what happens is instead of having his punter
- 15:29or his kicker kick it into the end zone, now like they
- 15:33don't have a chance at a return. Nick Sirianni,
- 15:37which I'm assuming he's taking responsibility. I don't know if the, if the kicker fucked
- 15:41up or what happened, but they kick it, they allow a return.
- 15:45Amir Abdullah returns it. Into field goal range in the
- 15:49perfect amount for the Jaguars with 1 second left. Again,
- 15:53just like this is like exactly like the Lamar Jackson calling timeout
- 15:57with 1 second on the clock and the Jaguars win on a game-winning
- 16:00field goal. The, the obvious
- 16:04scapegoats every single time that the Eagles lose right
- 16:09now are either Jalen Hurts or Nick Sirianni. People lighting
- 16:12up a little bit on Jalen Hurts this week because to your point, Number one,
- 16:17Jalen Hurts like was getting it done as much as he humanly
- 16:21could with the like one of the worst offensive line situations
- 16:24that they've got going. Uh, a wide receiving corps
- 16:28that is definitely just not what it was with AJ Brown and a
- 16:32defense that has no like no real pass rush and a weakened secondary.
- 16:37Um, Nick Sirianni taking a little more heat before
- 16:40I get into a little bit of what got Philly fans
- 16:44mad at me this week. I'd like to hear what your take is on Nick
- 16:48Sirianni in this game right now. Uh, Nick, not unlike
- 16:52how I kind of think Sean McVay lost the game last night for the Rams,
- 16:55I think Nick Sirianni absolutely lost that for the Eagles. It was— I— my mind
- 17:00was boggled that there was even an attempt to run this ball back.
- 17:03I am— I'm gonna go the Carly Irsay Gordon route
- 17:07and say I have a 5th grade recollection and understanding of the game,
- 17:11especially compared to the people that are on the side, especially compared
- 17:14to the fucking NFL head coaches. I'm sure Nick Sirianni has lost more knowledge
- 17:19of football this morning than I've ever accumulated in my entire life. Yeah,
- 17:23but for some reason, in that 20-second margin,
- 17:26he forgot I was a fucking genius and he was a fucking idiot. And I
- 17:30have no idea how that happened. I'm not positive how
- 17:34it happened either. I will say I do sometimes wonder in these
- 17:38situations if he's covering up for his kicker making a mistake. Maybe.
- 17:41Um, of which, good on him to do that. That's what a good head coach
- 17:43should do, right? But then again, what the fuck is the kicker doing then?
- 17:46Sure. By the way, this was a massive theme throughout
- 17:50the NFL this weekend. Everyone fucking forgot how to play football all of
- 17:54a sudden. We're gonna, we're gonna talk about— I know we are. We're gonna talk
- 17:56about some other coaching mistakes too, because like, this has been chock-full of coaching mistakes.
- 17:59So here's the thing. Um,
- 18:03I have— every time we talk about Philly, we're either talking about
- 18:07Nick Sirianni or Jalen Hurts, or how Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts aren't getting along,
- 18:11or how somehow they're like the catalyst for an issue in the locker room
- 18:14or whatever else. Right. Never. We never get
- 18:19like anybody on the record really saying that. We never get anybody. It's always these
- 18:22leaks. It's always some sort of anonymous sourcing sources. And the
- 18:26Philadelphia Eagles have for a long time been a team
- 18:31that is incredibly leaky. I believe that they are the
- 18:34leakiest anonymous source type team in the NFL
- 18:38by a large margin. Now you compare that to the fact
- 18:42that this is a head coach quarterback duo that has made 2 Super Bowl runs.
- 18:47They have been to the Super Bowl together twice. How many head
- 18:51coach quarterback duos have you ever— have you— can
- 18:54you recall that have gone to 2 Super Bowls that
- 18:58receive this much constant critique?
- 19:03I cannot think of any. The only— maybe one. Maybe one.
- 19:07Give me and I'll let you know. Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning.
- 19:11Not even close. Really? No, they were fucking— they never— they were never
- 19:15up Coughlin's ass. Never. Fair. They were up Eli's a little bit. They were definitely
- 19:18up Eli's. But like, also, he was like, you know, he was a hero for
- 19:22beating Tom Brady twice, right? True. So here's the thing.
- 19:25There have been 3 instances in the history of
- 19:29the NFL where a head coach has been fired within 3 years of winning a
- 19:33Super Bowl. One was Don McCafferty in the 1970s.
- 19:37One was George Seifert in the '90s. He was
- 19:40like forced to resign, but they were going to retire him. They were going to
- 19:43fire him. And the other one was Doug Pederson in 2017 from
- 19:48the Eagles or in 2020 after winning in 2017.
- 19:51Now we've— so we've got in the last 30 years
- 19:55one guy ever in that situation to be fired 3 years after
- 19:59winning a Super Bowl. Now Nick Sirianni's on the hot seat
- 20:02less than 2 years after winning a Super Bowl for the same organization.
- 20:07That is not a coincidence. What I need everybody to understand,
- 20:10whether you like it or not, is that we have a very big Howie
- 20:14Roseman issue in Philadelphia. And this
- 20:19is, this is what you get when you have a boom-or-bust GM. Howie Roseman
- 20:23is a control freak. After he lost control of the locker room or of the
- 20:27personnel situation to Chip Kelly.
- 20:30He, he got it back from Jeffrey Lurie and he said, I'm never giving it
- 20:32back again. He hires personality guys, locker room dudes,
- 20:36guys who are like kind of rah-rah coaches. They're good, they're good in game,
- 20:39but they're not like the craziest designers you've ever seen. They're just like, they're culture
- 20:43guys. Yeah. And then when he wants to do
- 20:47his, his, uh, Howie Roseman thing and restock,
- 20:50reload, he wants his picks, he wants everything so he can go and do the
- 20:53another, the next best offseason and build the next best super team.
- 20:57What does he have to do in the meantime? He has to let Nick Sirianni
- 21:00and Jalen Hurts wallow in the bullshit
- 21:04he's handed them in 2026. That roster is not where
- 21:08it should be. No, he did not make the additions and the, like, things necessary
- 21:12in order for a team that should be competing every single year
- 21:17to succeed. And that does not take mistakes
- 21:21from Nick Sirianni away. It does not take mistakes from Jalen Hurts away. But what
- 21:25it does tell me is that this is a systemic issue. I know for a
- 21:28fact that the leaks that come out of there are coming from the front office.
- 21:32He causes chaos. He has convinced their entire fucking entire
- 21:36fandom that he— in how we
- 21:40trust, he is the architect. Oh yes, he has. Anything, anything that happens
- 21:44outside of that, it's everybody's fault but his. So if Nick
- 21:48Sirianni and Jalen Hurts can't get this team to fucking win, Guess what's going to
- 21:51happen? Uh, somehow Nick Sirianni's going to have to lose his job in a way
- 21:55that nobody else loses their fucking jobs and hasn't really
- 21:59for 30-plus years except for his last head coach.
- 22:03And Jalen Hurts, who has been to 2 Super Bowls and had 2
- 22:07of the better Super Bowl performances we've ever fucking seen— absolutely did— is
- 22:10on. So we've got firing, we've got firing rumors for Nick Sirianni,
- 22:14we've got trade rumors for Jalen Hurts, and Howie is accumulating
- 22:18his, his draft stock and everything else so he can re-up and
- 22:22be the hero yet again. They— the, the Philadelphia
- 22:25Eagles fan base wants to be a dynasty-type fan base, and they will never
- 22:29have a fucking dynasty with Howie Roseman because he is inconsistent on purpose.
- 22:33His entire thing is that he will not maintain a roster, and the best
- 22:37GM and head coach combinations understand how to maintain
- 22:41a roster with an elite head coach quarterback combo year in,
- 22:45year out. You look at Brett Veach and Andy Reid,
- 22:49they get it done right. And they take their lumps when they have a down
- 22:52year, whether it's injuries or whatever else. That was last year. Bill Belichick, as the
- 22:56role himself as GM and head coach,
- 22:59every year it was how do we retool? How do we do— how do we
- 23:02keep this in place for Tom Brady? How do we keep this in place for
- 23:05Patrick Mahomes? How do we keep this in place for these dudes who are— who
- 23:09have taken us to multiple Super Bowls? Let's not waste this fucking opportunity.
- 23:12Howie doesn't give a fuck. And so Philadelphia Eagles fans, they want
- 23:16to have their cake and eat it too. They want to talk about, we're one
- 23:18of the best teams in the league, we've been to 2 fucking Super Bowls.
- 23:20Okay, well, guess what? You will never be what you could
- 23:23be with these 2 people who have gone to 2 Super Bowls.
- 23:27Like, that's not a thing that happens unless you have an excellent
- 23:31combo at those 2 positions. You'll never be that. So I hope,
- 23:35I, I hope you guys are ready to watch Howie Roseman tank your fucking team,
- 23:38because that's what he's doing. And then he, by the way, He'll build it right
- 23:41back up because he will, because he's a football genius. I'm not saying he's not.
- 23:44That dude is an absolute fucking maniac at the GM position. He's great.
- 23:48He's great. But what I'm witnessing right now is an entire
- 23:52fan base hold 2 people accountable for a roster that
- 23:57is frankly very, very underwhelming. Yes. On purpose.
- 24:01Interesting. I like it. Thanks for hearing me out. I did hear you out.
- 24:05I'm trying to get it out. It all makes sense. And all the Philly fans
- 24:08are mad at you for that theory. Oh, they're— they— are fucking
- 24:12furious. How we trust— oh yeah, they're furious. How could you defend
- 24:16Nick Sirianni? I'm like, it was a bad call. It was a very bad call.
- 24:18That man's taking you to 2 fucking Super Bowls. And oh, I had someone tell
- 24:21me the 2024 Eagles team is one of the greatest rosters ever assembled.
- 24:25I was like, oh babe, oh no. Oh, the Kool-Aid
- 24:28has been drunk, my love. My goodness. No, no,
- 24:32no, no, no, no, no. That's how they were like the 6th best team
- 24:36in the NFL that season. Like, it was a great roster. Very much so.
- 24:40But it was the greatest ever assembled. It wasn't even the greatest assembled
- 24:43in the last fucking 5 years. It wasn't the greatest assembled on that field
- 24:47that night. Like, I— it might— maybe— no, I mean, they had a better roster
- 24:52than the Chiefs. I mean, but like, but like, at the end of the day,
- 24:55the great— like, that's the crazy kind of shit that these— that Eagles fans are,
- 24:59are telling me, which is like, oh, like, when you're telling me the 2024
- 25:03roster was on— is, is is even a top 20 roster
- 25:06of all time in the NFL, you've lost your fucking marbles.
- 25:09They did not get carried to your— that head coach did not get carried
- 25:13to a Super Bowl. That's just not how it fucking works. Maybe once,
- 25:17not twice. Well, take that fucking— you can go once and I'll give you a
- 25:21little bit of like, Brian Billick, you got carried by that defense. Yes, but this
- 25:24is twice. Twice in a matter of 4 years or 3 years, really.
- 25:27Exactly. Yeah. So sorry, I can't, I can't, can't, can't get on
- 25:31board with that at all. But let's go to this game really quickly.
- 25:35New England versus the Raiders. It was a shit show. Your team won. Congratulations.
- 25:39We seemingly got your guy back on track and the Raiders could do absolutely nothing
- 25:42right. Apparently their defense decided to take the weekend off. That was fucking awful.
- 25:45I hated every second. And you did too. Oh,
- 25:49Mendoza got out there for a drive. He did fine. We did fine. I mean,
- 25:53listen, the, the Raiders— I told
- 25:57you before the game, the Raiders defense is not good. They looked awful. So,
- 26:00like, that did not surprise me that they didn't look good. It was a
- 26:04question whether or not Drake Maye was going to carry over with another great performance
- 26:07from the week before. He was even better. Well, the Raiders let him do that
- 26:11or helped him at some points. Well, they weren't stopping him, that's for sure.
- 26:13No, they were not. The biggest issue, which is
- 26:16what I told you was like the real like matchup of the game,
- 26:20was the Patriots' very good defense against the Raiders' otherwise very
- 26:24good offense. That was going to be the game decider. And to me,
- 26:28it's still no matter how well Drake played and he did play great,
- 26:31he did. Um, and the rest of the roster did too. Uh, the,
- 26:34the defense just fucking tore Kirk Cousins
- 26:38up. They just didn't fucking care. And, you know, I put in
- 26:42the notes that, you know,
- 26:45the Patriots defense exposed the vulnerabilities of Kirk Cousins when his tempo is disrupted.
- 26:50He is a— like, he has got to stay in rhythm and tempo, and he's
- 26:53going to be able to do his efficient, like, complete his passes. He's got to
- 26:56be able to— and they Brock Bowers was having his way for most of the
- 26:59game. He was still getting his looks, he was still getting his, and he was
- 27:01still making his plays. But he was it. But that was it. That was it.
- 27:04Nothing out of the run game. And then eventually he made an uncharacteristic mistake
- 27:08because the game had been so brutal for them all along that he had like
- 27:12an absolutely, like I've never seen Brock. I think that was like his first drop
- 27:15ever. Like it was like crazy, right? Um, and so I think that's,
- 27:19uh, I think this is a learning curve for Clint Kubiak. Yes. Um,
- 27:23in like what happens when you go up against a, a defense that's
- 27:26much more prepared for you. And I also think that,
- 27:31like we've said, you're going to keep getting these glimpses of Kirk Cousins'
- 27:36ceiling. Mm-hmm. I will say I'm aware.
- 27:39I will say I don't know what the— I don't know how you prepare
- 27:43for Drake Maye at this point as another— I swear to God,
- 27:46I— he's— he has had one of the worst games of the season and one
- 27:50of the best games of the season within like 3 weeks. Yeah. He's, he's infuriating.
- 27:55I don't know what the fuck is going on. He's either like— I mean,
- 27:58you— we've seen Josh Allen be great and bad one week to the next.
- 28:02Drake Maye's taken it to a new goddamn level. So I don't know, I don't
- 28:06know how much we learned about the Patriots long
- 28:09term in that game. They looked a lot better. I think their defense will always
- 28:12be good. Do you feel like you learned anything about the Raiders, or— Yeah,
- 28:15we're just not as good as I hoped. Uh, we, we're, we're solid, we're fine,
- 28:19we're probably a .500 team, just over .500 hopefully, but the schedule is
- 28:22pretty brutal coming up here. So we'll see what happens with the Raiders going forward.
- 28:25I mean, they got a tough— they got a tough one this weekend. They got
- 28:28the Bills, but luckily the Bills are on short rest, so maybe they can take
- 28:31advantage of that at home as well, which, you know, the Black Hole has not
- 28:34been really a home field advantage up until really this season. So I'm
- 28:38hoping this will be a thing this weekend. I did get offered tickets to it,
- 28:41but I'm going to the Rose Bowl this— do you want to go to the
- 28:43Rose Bowl on Saturday? I, I, I got offered tickets for you, but I'd have
- 28:45to It would cost a little bit, but nothing crazy. Well, I don't want you
- 28:49to— I don't want you to have to spend money on, on little old me.
- 28:53Little old me. We'll have to— we'll have to discuss that. I'm trying to figure
- 28:56out what the hell I'm even doing this weekend. Maybe we can go to the
- 28:59Rose Bowl. We're playing Wisconsin. Maybe I'm going to the Rose Bowl. I don't know.
- 29:02We can go to the Rose Bowl. We're playing Wisconsin. I just heard about this
- 29:04just now. Well, I just heard about this about an hour and a half ago.
- 29:06I've been doing other shit and I forgot. All right, guys, weigh in. Should I
- 29:09go to the Rose Bowl? Should we have the regulars at the Rose Bowl again?
- 29:12Part 2. Um, we have matching hats this time. Oh, we do. Um, all right.
- 29:16Uh, this is— this was— I can't— I've been so excited to talk about
- 29:20the fucking Vikings. Oh my God. 5-0 Vikings getting it done.
- 29:23Kyler completed 80% of his passes. Kyler Murray was efficient.
- 29:27The offense ran on every cylinder. The defense does
- 29:30what the defense does. They scored a touchdown finally. I mean, what can I
- 29:34say? Watch out. Someone said like, fucking Vikings watching,
- 29:37um, watching Kyler like toss that like corner
- 29:41end zone in triple coverage touchdown to Justin
- 29:46Jefferson. I don't know if you saw it. And they were like, oh, I saw
- 29:47it. It was like, fuck it, Justin Jefferson's out there somewhere, right?
- 29:51Like, it was a, it was a well-placed pass. But I mean, Justin Jefferson had
- 29:55to like just— he just had to be Justin Jefferson. And he was. This team
- 29:58is good, man. The story, the story of them up until this week has been
- 30:02the defense is carrying their asses. Yes. And the defense
- 30:06continued to carry their asses They made the Saints look completely useless
- 30:10on offense. They only had 142 total yards.
- 30:13Tyler Shutt threw 2 interceptions. The ground game couldn't get going. They could not
- 30:17do anything. And this is an offense that's been doing plenty this year, even if
- 30:21they've not been winning. Nope. Fucking Flores made them look like a junior varsity
- 30:25college team too. Like, like insane. And then to see
- 30:29that the offense has started to get rolling a little bit and that Kyler is
- 30:32starting to feel himself into the offense.
- 30:36He, he looked a lot more comfortable this week. I'm gonna
- 30:40ask it. I'm gonna ask it. Can you throw up, Mocha, the NFC
- 30:45playoffs as if they were happening right now?
- 30:48Let's see it. Okay, so if
- 30:52the playoffs were to happen right now, the Vikings would have the edge over
- 30:56the unbeaten 49ers. Both unbeaten.
- 31:00Are like, I mean, we're looking at this like outside
- 31:04of the Niners, none of these teams are going to catch the Vikings,
- 31:08right? I don't think so. I definitely know it's not going to be the Panthers.
- 31:11You could make an argument for the Bears when they get Caleb back, but they
- 31:14looked like shit this last weekend with Bagent. The Packers,
- 31:17who I really don't believe in but had a really monstrous game against the Bears
- 31:20out of nowhere. The Lions, who we've had, you know, they're wishy-washy back and forth.
- 31:24We don't really know. I don't think they're going to catch up to them either.
- 31:27I think the Vikings are the best team in the North.
- 31:30Unquestionably. Okay, well, here's the question. Are they the
- 31:34best team in the NFC? I'm having trouble getting there
- 31:37because the 49ers seemingly don't want to die. Do you want
- 31:42to talk about the 49ers as, as a transition, and then we'll kind of return
- 31:45to this conversation? I would like to, because Brock Purdy, if the season ended today,
- 31:48is the MVP. I agree. Um, my,
- 31:52my one thing before we talk about the Niners is that in like In a
- 31:55season where offenses have been inconsistent, where we've had, uh, major quarterback
- 32:00injuries, multiple major quarterback injuries, and we just saw another one with Michael Penix,
- 32:04um, and we're already seeing that toll taken,
- 32:08the Vikings defense might be one of those
- 32:12defenses, the ones that we've seen, the, like,
- 32:15the Legion of Boom, the no-fly zone, the Baltimore Ravens, these where
- 32:20it's like in a season where, like, Every— I feel like every maybe 4 or
- 32:245 years we get a defense that is better than any offense.
- 32:28And so I'm— that's what I'm keeping an eye on. Okay. Uh, we're gonna skip
- 32:31over the— this middle game for a second, go to the Niners-Seahawks, because that
- 32:35kind of keeps us in that conversation of the 2 best teams in the NFC.
- 32:38Uh, this feels like one of those games where we didn't necessarily learn too much
- 32:41because it was a banger. We expected it to be a banger. It was a
- 32:44banger. It was like divisional sloppiness,
- 32:47turnovers, crazy shit happening, right? Um,
- 32:50But the 49ers prevailed on
- 32:54late drives from Brock Purdy. And, you know,
- 32:57Mike Evans being a— being fucking Mike Evans, being a monster.
- 33:02They can— they can really do anything in a— in the late
- 33:06portion of a game to figure out a way to win. What do you got?
- 33:10You got to— somebody just said,
- 33:13Juan, it's Brazil. The Vikings are a mirage.
- 33:16Don't do it immediately. Tiger JLV 86
- 33:20says, Not a mirage. Laughing face. We got, we got fights
- 33:24in the chat, ladies and gentlemen. She said the Vikings are a mirage. Yes.
- 33:28Well, to be fair, the Vikings are constantly that
- 33:32team that like looks like they're going to do it and then they don't.
- 33:35So I, I completely understand. But so when we're talking about playoffs, I totally
- 33:39understand. As far as like being a legit NFC contender, I do think
- 33:43that there's no reason to think that they're not going to stay that, mostly because
- 33:45Aaron Jones was also awesome. The wider— like, there was like a bunch working for
- 33:49that. He was— he's been fucking great. Can't believe he's still doing it,
- 33:53man. He's getting up there in age, by the way. Yeah, so, um, that's what
- 33:56makes me think that at least for the regular season— never bet on the Vikings
- 33:59in the postseason, never do that. But, um, as far as the— as
- 34:03far as the Niners, they, um, they are a team that is— they're— they're
- 34:07on a mission, right? Like, they're on a mission. They seem like they're—
- 34:11Dre Greenlaw's a nut job. Like, they're all doing crazy shit, right? But how
- 34:16long can this last? Like, don't the Niners always feel to you like they're
- 34:19on the precipice of like exploding? I don't know.
- 34:23All it's gonna take is one more injury. Once Kittle goes down,
- 34:26it's over. No, no, it's just
- 34:29somehow they fucking die. They— some, some— something about this organization
- 34:34for like the last like 30 years, it's like they won the world, they won
- 34:37the Super Bowl against the Chargers like by 50 points. Like they've
- 34:41been weirdly snake pit year after year after year. And this last like 5
- 34:44years has been ungodly glaring. I mean, the amount of injuries last season,
- 34:48everything that's happened before this season, the weird vibes
- 34:52in the offseason, the weird fucking— the, the, the hookers in Ohio,
- 34:56the fucking— the, the fucking car crash somewhere that
- 35:00we don't still really even know where. Like fucking weird
- 35:04shit around this organization. And yes, everyone's gotten hurt because of the weird substation
- 35:08that they keep practicing at, but like it's Like, it's so fucking—
- 35:12then the Australia game, which was just fucking weird altogether.
- 35:16It's fucking weird. The vibes are weird. The vibes are like
- 35:19that they just find ways to win games, and I love,
- 35:23I love that. And I think Brock Purdy has just been fantastic.
- 35:28He's so good. I think he's been fantastic, and I agree
- 35:31that right now he is in, in the MVP conversation at the,
- 35:35you know, among the top. I think there's a couple other people I put in
- 35:37there with him, but at different positions. As far as quarterback, he is
- 35:41the one. Um, I just— one
- 35:45of these teams makes Super Bowls and loses them, and one of these teams
- 35:49has never been to a Super Bowl, right? Like, it's like when we're
- 35:52talking about Vikings-Niners, these are not teams that you can always rely on.
- 35:57But man, they both look really fucking good right now. They look really
- 36:01fucking good. And Brian Flores is doing stuff on defense I have never seen.
- 36:05And when you're doing that and you're ahead of the curve, he'll have to change
- 36:09it up next year. Offensive coordinators will catch up, but they're not going to do
- 36:12it this year. And that's what I think is interesting. I find it really interesting.
- 36:15We'll find out because it's going to get very, very interesting as this continues.
- 36:19Uh, should we talk about the most embarrassing game
- 36:23maybe that's ever ended in the history of the NFL? You think
- 36:27this is worse than the Eagles one? Yeah. Okay. I really do because
- 36:31I— Giants-Commanders— I can't fucking fathom what the fuck
- 36:34was going on with Daniels in his mind. I— the press conference
- 36:39afterwards, his, his statement of that should have been relayed
- 36:43in, but ultimately it lands on me.
- 36:47Um, and with that second part, and only do that second part, needs to
- 36:51be relayed in. How did every NFL player and coach forget
- 36:55what fucking football is this last weekend? This was fucking— this
- 36:59was malpractice. In a degree that I've never seen in my
- 37:02life. It was really rough. And, you know, I actually
- 37:06watched a segment from Chris Simms with Mike Florio where
- 37:09he, he was actually like, I— this one feels
- 37:13like it's on Dan Quinn to me. Really interesting. And I was like, I haven't
- 37:17really fully landed on where I'm at with it. At the time, I was still
- 37:21kind of waffling. I thought more about it. I listened to what he said.
- 37:24I said I liked that he was willing to blame the the coach before the
- 37:28quarterback, because I do think that the coaches are like getting exposed this week.
- 37:31And I think it's smart that we don't constantly blame a quarterback for a team
- 37:35game in every single situation. Well, I agree, because we heard that from Aaron Rodgers.
- 37:38It's up to Aaron Rodgers to tell the coaching staff what they're
- 37:42doing wrong. Still one of the funniest fucking things. Unfortunately, it's very funny.
- 37:45It's actually hilarious. And to his credit, they won 2 games straight. So since
- 37:49he started telling Mike McCarthy what he's doing, Isn't great. So maybe,
- 37:53maybe Aaron Rodgers was right about that one. Uh, so here's,
- 37:57here's my thought is number one,
- 38:00right in, in a game like that, yeah, in a game that close, you got
- 38:04no timeouts at the end of the game. Already, already you've made a mistake.
- 38:08You've already made a coaching mistake. That's okay, you're not the first coaching mistake.
- 38:12So you're not the first coach to be in that spot with no timeouts,
- 38:15but you've already made a mistake by not having any timeouts. Then in
- 38:20that particular situation, the play
- 38:24call is what? What?
- 38:28Where was the pass to the sideline? I have no idea. So why is
- 38:32it on Jayden Daniels that he
- 38:35had the— what was that fucking play call? Do you mean the, the drop back?
- 38:39And remember that, remember that old like football game where it was like magnets on
- 38:42the bottom and they're like buzzing around and like barely running into each other.
- 38:45He just did like some weird little circle thing. Yeah. And fell
- 38:49to the ground. So to me, that— I'm sorry,
- 38:52but like, if you had had a clear play call that was a sideline
- 38:56throw or something else, that would make sense. But whatever that fucking was,
- 39:00like, unless you tell me Jayden Daniels audibled to that,
- 39:05I'm on— I'm on Dan Quinn's ass. And Dan Quinn has
- 39:10not a lot of credibility. No, he does not. I do that front
- 39:14too. To everything, to everyone's credit in this exact moment,
- 39:18can't argue that. Can't argue that. So I don't know why
- 39:21Jayden Daniels has credibility, but we do know Dan Quinn does not
- 39:25have— well, I think that's the bigger thing is that Jayden Daniels is a 3rd-year
- 39:29quarterback. He should absolutely know better. Yeah, but Dan Quinn is
- 39:33a veteran head coach And we have seen him
- 39:37essentially get, get outcoached
- 39:42the most anyone's ever been outcoached, maybe. Oh yeah. No, no. We watched Dan
- 39:46Quinn lose his job this last weekend. It hasn't taken yet, but the gun,
- 39:50the gun was shot. I'm talking about like in the Super Bowl. Like, oh yeah,
- 39:53like that, that meltdown from him,
- 39:56Matt Ryan, the fucking, you know, Falcons defense, whatever. Legendary for the
- 40:00history of time. That is like, that is a very much a we've seen you
- 40:04sort of like lose the plot before in a
- 40:08way that— yeah. Now I know offensive linemen said that they were supposed— they supposedly
- 40:12knew that there was no timeouts. I do— I will give credit
- 40:15to quarterbacks. They also have a lot more going on than an offensive line.
- 40:18That is also true. So like, you know, sometimes there are miscommunications
- 40:22there. I'm willing to give it 20/80. Like,
- 40:25I'll give— I'll give Jayden Daniels some shit. I absolutely will.
- 40:28He— he's got his issues. But like, sorry bro,
- 40:31what the fuck was that play call? Every year you got no timeouts and you
- 40:34give them that? I— if that's what it was, I don't know what it was,
- 40:37but you are definitely right. Yeah, Dan Quinn has absolutely no credibility,
- 40:41which I do think is giving him an extra 30% in your 80%
- 40:45scale, right? But that's why I'm going more 50/50 on this one.
- 40:48That's fine. Um, we can be— we can be— yeah, this is a minor
- 40:53discrepancy. Yeah, no, no, I'm going 50/50 on this one. Okay, but you do make
- 40:56a a very compelling point about Dan Quinn. And listen, it was just—
- 41:01Dan Quinn will no longer have a job. It just hasn't happened yet.
- 41:04But that play— because he's really like likable to me.
- 41:07I agree. But that play, yeah, the gun, the gun has been fired.
- 41:11The bullet— I think that that is a bigger mistake than Sirianni. I think it's
- 41:15better. I think bigger than like whatever McVay did. I think it's bigger than like
- 41:17some, you know, some of the mistakes that, um, by the way, you know,
- 41:21in this in this, uh, in this Falcons-Ravens
- 41:25game. We went into it— so Ravens
- 41:29win 30-23 overtime over the
- 41:32Falcons on the road, Sunday Night Football, with Tyler Huntley doing
- 41:37what he needed to do. Um, this was also
- 41:41kind of a banger of a game. It was really fun until Tua
- 41:45showed up. The shots of The shots
- 41:48of Michael Penix on the bench. Have you seen it?
- 41:52No. While he's watching Tua warm up, it is,
- 41:56it is like it— I cannot— it's, it's film. It's cinema. Is it?
- 42:00You can see in his eyes that they're— he's like, we're so fucked.
- 42:04We're so— I knew they were fucked. But like, there were
- 42:082 things that I took away from Tua's appearance at the end of the game.
- 42:12My first thing, and I'm not kidding, and I've said this before, I'm going to
- 42:14say it again. He dropped back, and I think they're legitimately in
- 42:18his head at some point. It popped in, he's like, am I the Ravens?
- 42:21Am I on the Ravens?
- 42:25Because it's a new team, he's not used to these colors. He's like, they have
- 42:29Kyle Hamilton as a wide receiver, that's fucking awesome. Oh dude,
- 42:322-way guy. Yeah, yeah, right to him as if there was
- 42:35no actual wide receiver in the correct colors. He like warmed
- 42:39up, went out, threw a pick, and left. Was Almost admirable.
- 42:44It was so fucking bad. My other thought was,
- 42:47because, you know, Tua's always gotten so much shit for his arm strength, right?
- 42:51Right. It was the first time I saw Tua throw a pass that I said
- 42:54out loud, Tua might be a righty. I think that's the problem.
- 42:59I think he's right-handed. I don't think that's the problem.
- 43:03I'm not going to lie. I think he tried. I think the problem
- 43:07is that he's bad. But here's the thing. Um,
- 43:11the real story for me is that Jesse Minter had the defense looking much
- 43:15better. Yes, on the road against the— an offense that was unstoppable, had scored
- 43:1935 and 45 2 weeks in a row, held them to 23 before
- 43:22Penix got hurt. So with the whole full healthy roster,
- 43:26they looked much better. They were tackling better. Now there was a couple mistakes at
- 43:30the end, some tackling mistakes that looked reminiscent of what I've been seeing from the
- 43:33Ravens before, but they were still much improved.
- 43:36Tyler Huntley is one of the best quarterbacks, backup quarterbacks, if not the best
- 43:39backup quarterback in the league. He is very experienced.
- 43:43Him and Lamar Jackson's relationship with each other, like,
- 43:46tell me you weren't like fucking smiling ear to ear every time they shot Lamar.
- 43:50Every time. This game. Every time they talk. That team's— I love this fucking
- 43:54team, by the way. I love this fucking team. Everything that's ever been said about
- 43:58Lamar, fuck you guys. You're wrong. This team's fucking great. This team's great.
- 44:01He's great. Such a good leader. He's fucking lovely. I want them
- 44:05to win the Super Bowl. I want them to win it. Yeah. So, so many
- 44:09motherfuckers can shut the fuck up. Right. And I, and I
- 44:13was impressed with Mentor and I think he outcoached Kevin Stefanski in especially toward
- 44:17the end of regulation. Now, yes, the,
- 44:20you know, there's the argument that the, that the Baltimore Ravens
- 44:23got lucky because Penix got hurt. They were going to drive down the field and
- 44:27they were going to either score, you know, whatever. Right. Sure. But at the end
- 44:30of the day, the Ravens had played the whole game without their starter. Like,
- 44:34why are we— they're like, well, if if, if Penix hadn't gone
- 44:37out for that. Okay, there was no Lamar in this game. So like,
- 44:40let's call a spade a spade. I, you know,
- 44:44Tua is not the backup quarterback that Tyler Huntley is.
- 44:48Sucks to suck. Build your fucking roster. That's on Stefanski
- 44:52and their GM. That's on them.
- 44:55And I do like, I really hope Penix is able to like stay healthy in
- 44:58some capacity because this is bumming me out. He looks— he's been looking so fucking
- 45:01good. I agree. But huge, much-needed big win
- 45:05to keep Lamar's team in good standing from Tyler
- 45:08Huntley. And shout out to him. Yeah. And shout out to Minter for figuring it
- 45:11the fuck out in primetime on the road. Good. Real quick, got 2
- 45:15more games to talk about real quick. But yeah, this game was Packers-Bears
- 45:19fucking batshit. I didn't see it coming. Blowout. Didn't see it coming.
- 45:23No one saw it coming. And I saw— you and I left room open for
- 45:27the Packers to win. But not like that. 31-7. It was a fucking ass
- 45:31kicking. Not 31-7. Even without Caleb Williams, we did not see that one coming.
- 45:35I love that Jordan Love looked great. I love that their offense looked great again.
- 45:39Like, I don't have much— I like those unis. Those were sweet. I liked them
- 45:43too. Chris was saying he thought they were a little busy and he would have
- 45:45like removed a few things. I actually fucking loved them. I really liked them.
- 45:48I loved them. I love that they look like they were in sepia tone from
- 45:51like— yeah, like they had been placed out of like a 1950s like NFL.
- 45:54It looked like aged cast. Yes, it was so cool. I liked it.
- 45:58I agree. The Packers, you know, I don't—
- 46:02I'm losing hope in Matt LaFleur and have been, but I love Jordan Love
- 46:06and I'm just glad he had a good game. On the flip side, I have
- 46:10some questions and I don't know how you feel about this. Maybe you
- 46:13disagree. I— Ben Johnson is
- 46:16now 2-6 against NFC North opponents as the Bears head coach
- 46:20in the regular season. Yes. Um, without Caleb Williams and in a difficult divisional
- 46:25game, Should we be questioning why he started Tyler
- 46:29Badgett? Do you think he should have gone with Case Keenum?
- 46:32I think he should have gone in with Case Keenum last week and this week.
- 46:35And I don't know, I don't understand. And I'll tell you why. Maybe you can,
- 46:38whatever. But here's the thing. When a quarterback
- 46:42wins a game like he won and you see that he can operate in
- 46:46a sort of limited version of your offense, but like really stick with your offense
- 46:50and do what needs to be done. And then you bench him to go back
- 46:54to the number 2, the Tyler Badgett, and then he
- 46:58performs poorly. Okay, I understand that move.
- 47:01I understand what you're trying to do. You think like, this is the younger,
- 47:03healthier guy, I'm gonna stick with him in case we need to keep going.
- 47:06We want to get him some rhythm. Fine. Tyler Badgett
- 47:10was not good last week either. No. This week, now you've set everybody
- 47:14up to fail because you either go back to Case or you
- 47:18start Tyler, and now you've set them both up to fail. Because Tyler
- 47:22Badgen throws 2 picks halfway through this fucking blowout, because it started being a
- 47:26blowout very early. You're like, hey Case, can you come fix this? And he's like,
- 47:28no, like, you've had me on the fucking bench for 2 weeks. I just came
- 47:32into this goddamn game, now I'm behind the 8-ball. I've got no ability to develop
- 47:36any rhythm. That's literally my only fucking thing. I don't know if you saw how
- 47:39we won that goddamn game. So no, I'm also going to turn
- 47:43the ball over now I just, I don't like how Ben
- 47:46Johnson handled this. I really think he had a difficult decision to
- 47:50make to say, Tyler, I'm so sorry, but Case has taken your backup job.
- 47:53And he wasn't willing to make the difficult decision in that moment. He wasn't like—
- 47:57this is the veteran guy, this guy with way more experience, this is a guy
- 48:00who proved that he still had it. And I think that Ben Johnson made
- 48:04the chicken shit choice, um, to go with the guy he originally
- 48:08wanted to go with, and it backfired. I agree with everything
- 48:11you just said. Really? Literally agree with everything you said. The only reason
- 48:15why I thought they maybe were trying to get with Badgint so much is because
- 48:18like his skill set kind of is a little maybe closer to what Caleb is
- 48:21rather than doing the more reserved and conservative version
- 48:25of the, the scheme that worked really well. But worked really fucking well. Listen,
- 48:29I, I, I don't think it's the right decision. I think, hey, that worked really
- 48:32well, let's play that again. Because it is also again a backup quarterback.
- 48:36I don't need my backup quarterback to be the fucking most dynamic guy on the
- 48:39field. I need him to be efficient and not turn the ball over. By the
- 48:41way, Tyler Bagent turns it over. Was the Vikings quarterback in
- 48:45one of their better seasons. Yeah, 10 years, whatever it was,
- 48:489 years ago. They know how to play the fucking Packers. Like, he knows
- 48:52how to play in Green Bay. Like, come on. Um, so I'm
- 48:57side-eyeing Ben Johnson. He has not lost my, like, faith,
- 49:00but I am side-eyeing a little bit of, of I'm side-eyeing
- 49:04him more than I was a couple weeks ago. Let's just say that.
- 49:07And I am— I really would like Caleb to come back now. I agree completely,
- 49:11wholeheartedly. Now let's go ahead and talk about this really
- 49:15quick. The Chargers are 0-5. It's a disaster.
- 49:19But can I really quickly, and something you're not expecting
- 49:23from me, defend the Chargers for a second?
- 49:27I can't— I'm not gonna stop you. Holy fuck, that is a very injured,
- 49:30uh, offensive line. They have no targets for him to
- 49:35throw to. Everyone's hurt and they look like shit.
- 49:38This is a disaster from every single angle. I don't see any
- 49:42way out. It's like they're trapped in a corner and
- 49:45there's just— it's like, it's like muskets. There's like 10 muskets
- 49:50on them and they're tucked in a corner. Okay, there's nothing they
- 49:54can do to win. They're fucking fucked. You know what, I'm gonna I'm
- 49:58gonna concede that because this might actually help what I'm trying
- 50:02to do here. Okay. Sometimes you're on a bad team that
- 50:07the roster sucks. Maybe you've got a lame duck head coach. Maybe,
- 50:10maybe you know that this team is starting to give up on you and
- 50:15you have to perform anyway. And this is a, this is maybe it's a
- 50:192-win team or maybe it's a no-win team, but they're bad, right?
- 50:23Real bad. There's a quarterback that comes to mind that I feel like
- 50:29might be a perfect sort of comp here for what
- 50:32Justin Herbert is dealing with. So I'm going to introduce a
- 50:37new sort of mini segment called Blackball
- 50:41Watch. Ooh. Okay. Blackball. And this
- 50:44is my case to blackball Justin
- 50:48Herbert from the NFL. I think it's time.
- 50:52We set a standard, right? We set a standard for what it takes to blackball
- 50:56an NFL quarterback. Okay. So I'm going to show
- 51:00you a graphic. We're going to compare Justin Herbert's last 6 games to
- 51:04Colin Kaepernick's final 6 games in the NFL. Mocha, will you bring up
- 51:09that for me? Okay, here we go. So this
- 51:13is Colin Kaepernick in his final 6 games for a horrible,
- 51:17talentless 49ers team with a lame duck head coach.
- 51:20Knowing that they were not going to want to bring him back after a whole
- 51:24season of being lambasted in the national
- 51:27media for kneeling to protest police brutality.
- 51:31And this is Justin Herbert, whose biggest issue
- 51:35he's ever had in his career is Brandon Staley not
- 51:40being as good as people thought he was going to be and getting made fun
- 51:43of for making out with Madison Beer before the fucking season started.
- 51:47Now, if you look at these numbers side by side,
- 51:51this one side, Colin Kaepernick's numbers, those numbers— 11 touchdowns,
- 51:542 picks, 96.4 passer rating,
- 51:57220 rushing yards in 6 games.
- 52:00Pretty good. That got him blackballed. Now we look over at Justin Herbert.
- 52:04I mean, listen, everybody said those numbers for Colin Kaepernick were not good
- 52:08enough. He was not good enough to play in the NFL anymore. He was bad.
- 52:11That's why he— no, he didn't get blackballed. He was bad, right? He wasn't a
- 52:14good quarterback. So if that's the case, I— and we look over at what Justin
- 52:18Herbert's done for us, I think, I think he's fucked. I think he's got to
- 52:22go. And so that's my big takeaway from this
- 52:26game. The, the Broncos have no fucking offense, a useless-ass
- 52:30offense. It's all defense. Okay, fine. You— all
- 52:34you had to do was hang a little bit in there with Bo Nix.
- 52:38Couldn't do it. I think it's time to blackball
- 52:42Justin Herbert from the NFL.
- 52:45That's quite literally all I have to say.
- 52:49No notes. It's perfect. Great. Your, your, your,
- 52:52your thought process is sound. Your evidence is absolutely accurate.
- 52:56He's just not good enough. That's what we were told at the time. It had
- 53:00nothing to do with the social justice shit. No, no. Had nothing to do with
- 53:04kneeling. He wasn't good enough at the time. Um, and I— you know what,
- 53:07you're right, he's not good enough. So they told us Justin
- 53:11Herbert needs to go. This is what's not— it doesn't matter that you're on a
- 53:14bad team, it doesn't matter that there's a bunch of shit going on, it doesn't
- 53:17matter that the head coach isn't doing their job, it doesn't matter.
- 53:20Because at the end of the day, he— that's what
- 53:24everyone said, he just— he was a trash quarterback. Well, if he was trash,
- 53:27then, then Justin Herbert is,
- 53:31is a dumpster that has been set on fire.
- 53:34A dumpster full of cow manure that has been set on fire.
- 53:39Time to go. It's time for you to go. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry
- 53:42to hear it. I'm so sorry to say it. Listen, it's right there. I'm just
- 53:44looking something up real quick because I am interested. Okay, I just— what I,
- 53:47I thought it was— yeah, Chip Kelly was the head coach of that team that
- 53:50year. Really good NFL head coach, Chip Kelly.
- 53:54Really remembered for really changing the game and doing amazing things.
- 53:57Just Just continues to fuck every team he goes to. Just really
- 54:01well regarded, that Chip Kelly.
- 54:05Um, so yeah, I, I didn't think that you were gonna have a ton of
- 54:08pushbacks. I have one final thought that I want to get in before we go,
- 54:11uh, and move on to, uh, different pastures here. Uh,
- 54:16Jets defense, we got to shout out Aaron Glenn. He's a meme monster, number one.
- 54:20I love a meme guy. Great memes coming from Aaron Glenn on the sideline.
- 54:23He's very animated, very fun, very cool. The Jets defense, um,
- 54:26in their second year with Aaron Glenn is looking a lot better. They are 4th
- 54:30in the league and, you know, in, in, um, yards. They got an interception.
- 54:32So overall defense, they finally got an interception.
- 54:35Um, and I think that's what's so interesting is they are, they are one of
- 54:38the better defenses in the league statistically, even without that like really
- 54:43being able to do much against the pass game. It's all been with their pass
- 54:46rush. Um, they have 17 sacks in 5
- 54:50games. David Bailey is the 2nd player,
- 54:54um, over the last 20 seasons with 15+ tackles and 5
- 54:57sacks in their first 5 career games, along with Chris Jones
- 55:02and Von Miller. Ever heard of them? Uh, I'm just really happy to
- 55:06see that not only is Geno playing really, really well, really well, really well,
- 55:10but he's also got that defense with the sort of hamstrung,
- 55:14um, you know, personnel that he's got in the
- 55:18secondary doing some cool shit. And I just, you know,
- 55:21you— again, we like football here. Yes, we actually don't always want
- 55:25to shit talk everything. No, no, we try to enjoy it. Yeah. So, you know,
- 55:28I just feel like we've enjoyed football for this, this entire 45,
- 55:3255 minutes. I did just try to blackball Justin Herbert. That was fair.
- 55:36That's different. That's very fair. Otherwise, I'm loving football
- 55:39and I'm loving Aaron Glenn, and I'm, I'm actually really happy with the
- 55:43fact that the Jets are playing fun, interesting football. Agreed. Great. Good stuff.
- 55:48Okay, good stuff. Fucking football, people. Fucking football.
- 55:52All right, let's get to headline number 2. It took us nearly an hour,
- 55:55as it always does now. It does. Football season, baby. Yeah. I mean, we can't—
- 55:58what are we going to skip games? What are we going to do? No,
- 56:00we got to talk about it. That was with us skipping games, by the way.
- 56:03We didn't— we never do every game. We still hit an hour. We didn't need
- 56:06those ones. It's fine. WNBA Finals Game 3 and 4
- 56:10have moved to State Farm Arena to accommodate more fans. The Dream have
- 56:14secured Nice. An actual arena. Did you know about this drama?
- 56:17I, I heard about it, but I didn't know the entire details.
- 56:20So they play in a 3,500-person— seriously?
- 56:24Yeah, they play in like a fucking rec spot. Yes.
- 56:27And, um, because obviously they have exploded in popularity,
- 56:30because the attendance has gotten crazy, all this stuff, they were like, we cannot play
- 56:34in this fucking arena for the WNBA Finals. Yeah. Um, but they had not had
- 56:37that figured out by the time the Dream actually made the WNBA
- 56:41Finals because they didn't know if the Dream were going to make the WNBA Finals.
- 56:43And this is the whole issue with having these arenas that are too small for
- 56:46the, like, the far— these— this league being far more popular
- 56:50than it has ever been. Um, so they secured State
- 56:54Farm Arena. The Hawks worked with them. They moved their game around.
- 56:58So they actually moved their game, and the WNBA actually rearranged
- 57:01the schedule slightly to accommodate all this happening so that, you know,
- 57:05um, which— that is what needed to happen. Yeah, absolutely. That's fair.
- 57:09People were a little concerned about the Like the hot—
- 57:12there's a somber concert, there was a game, it was a whole fucking thing.
- 57:15They've got it figured out. Good. Um, here's what I really
- 57:18think is, is interesting. I mean, people were very mad. They were very mad about
- 57:22this whole thing, blaming the Dream, blaming the WNBA, blaming— it's very hard when
- 57:26you can't exist in— when you have to like book an arena
- 57:30for this time. Like, you can't just do it ahead of time. Yeah,
- 57:33but you can't because what happens is like you can't commit to being
- 57:37there, right? Like, you're like, I don't know if we're gonna be in the WNBA
- 57:39Finals. And like, so you're not like— a stadium's not going to hold those,
- 57:43those dates for you in the middle of the NBA preseason and like all
- 57:46the concerts and everything else just in case you make the WNBA Finals.
- 57:50I, I'll never forget it. I remember the first time the Astros made the,
- 57:53the playoffs before their run. Taylor Swift had to cancel a concert at Minute Maid
- 57:57Park, and it was a whole thing. And I remember I very cleverly wrote
- 58:01a tweet, well, you better get ready for a very passive-aggressive song about Houston
- 58:04Astros because it's going to be a fucking hit about how she had to cancel
- 58:08a concert. Yeah, the song never came, but Taylor Swift very graciously
- 58:12canceled the concert and moved it to another date. But that was like, that was
- 58:15the first time I ever saw that where a team did this. Now this is
- 58:17like obviously a slightly different situation, but I'm glad they figured
- 58:22it out. But also, uh, the Dream gonna get a fucking new stadium or
- 58:25are they gonna fucking start playing? So they're gonna start playing in State Farm next
- 58:28year. Awesome. Yeah, and that's been in the works. Good. Um, so I have a
- 58:32graph I want to show you for the WNBA average home attendance. Um, that just
- 58:36sort of kind of, you know, while we're talking about this,
- 58:39I just want you to see exactly, um,
- 58:43where they are attendance-wise over the last few years. Do you have that graphic?
- 58:47Um, so this is since 2022.
- 58:50Now this doesn't show previously, but it had already been growing. These like
- 58:54home crowd attendances had already been growing prior
- 58:58to 2022 even. So these numbers that you're seeing are up and up.
- 59:01I went to 2 Sparks games this year. Yeah, absolutely. And like what
- 59:05you're seeing, so the, the Valkyrie in their first year were
- 59:09the best attended team in the league. They were the best attended
- 59:13team. Again, part of that is because they have, uh,
- 59:17uh, the capacity. So when you look at these,
- 59:20it looks like, oh my God, the Fever are so much, you know,
- 59:23whatever, the Fever and the Valkyrie, and they're like so much better than Liberty.
- 59:27Well, no, I mean, they just accommodated stadiums
- 59:31for fans to go to, and then fans go, right? Like, yes,
- 59:34partially. Obviously there's like the, the popularity of the players,
- 59:38and Caitlin Clark brought, you know, the fever, all the— but like, that's— they also—
- 59:42that was part of it as well. But now New York is catching up to
- 59:44them. Like, yeah, and obviously the Valkyries has just been killing it. New York was
- 59:48always really, you know, high. Obviously Seattle was always one of the best teams
- 59:52in the league, so they're way up there and always were. By the way,
- 59:54the Sparks had a bad year and they really kind of got up there and
- 59:57attendance. That's pretty cool to see. So I just wanted everybody to see sort of
- 1:00:00like, that's where we're at. That's in the— that's in the graduates. But you can
- 1:00:04see that it was already starting to happen. And so, you know, time— what was
- 1:00:08that? Rae Burrell's on the team. That's right. Big fan. And we're not being weird
- 1:00:12about it. We're just saying we're big fans. Just big fan. Yeah, big fan of
- 1:00:14Rae Burrell. Of her game. Of her game only, obviously. No, that's how I totally
- 1:00:19am about all these players. I just love their game. I do love her game.
- 1:00:23She's got a great game. That is factual. Yes. I do not like you
- 1:00:27putting anything else on that. No, no, no. And you know what? That's so— that's
- 1:00:30the thing about the WNBA is it really challenges us all in that way,
- 1:00:33in a way that like no other league does. I am a straight person for
- 1:00:37the most part, and I have a hard— I'm like, be normal, Tonya.
- 1:00:41Be normal about the— they're amazing athletes because sometimes it
- 1:00:45is— they're other— other leagues aren't bringing the heat the way that— no,
- 1:00:49they are not. They just aren't. They are not. They're not. Bring some more heat,
- 1:00:52guys. Like, we're, we're getting our asses kicked. That's a fucking runway show
- 1:00:56every game. It is to live in a world where multiple women have insisted
- 1:01:00that Joe Burrow is hot. Really? Joe Burrow?
- 1:01:04He's not a bad looking guy. He's so ugly to me. Like, when I tell
- 1:01:07you, when I see a white boy, he's not your style. But even then,
- 1:01:11he looks, he looks like Kevin McCallister. He— no,
- 1:01:17really? No, it's worse. Like, it's got a real Macaulay Culkin thing. I don't think
- 1:01:21people see him like without like sunglasses and like trying to like look cool very
- 1:01:25often, but he looks like a little kid who should always have
- 1:01:29like— who has like a chapped ring around his lips all the time.
- 1:01:33That's what he looks like to me. He just looks like somebody that would star
- 1:01:36in Mallrats in 1993. I just can't. So anyway,
- 1:01:39that's— yeah, thank you WNBA. Um, let's do the best. Let's talk MLB
- 1:01:43playoffs real quick. Please, let's do it. Because typically I don't really— I
- 1:01:47I do. I don't necessarily need to talk about Indians-Rays
- 1:01:51or Guardians-Rays. Guardians-Rays. Guardians-Rays.
- 1:01:55Because like, I just don't care, to be honest. I get it. I find
- 1:02:00this— I find the NLCS a lot more interesting. It is a lot more interesting
- 1:02:03because of the— because of the stakes. Yes. Like Guardians or Rays make— I
- 1:02:08mean, I would love for the Guardians to make a World Series again.
- 1:02:12Like they got that— the way they lost to the Cubs was like So brutal
- 1:02:17and no one ever talks about it. Like, 3-1, and not even like— and the
- 1:02:20way Game 7 ended too. Like, oh, you mean the rain delay in the 9th
- 1:02:24and after they got the lead back and then gave up the lead? They got
- 1:02:27really, really— like, that was what— that was like an all-time brutal beat.
- 1:02:31And, and Guardians fans are great. They've hung in there, they've stayed true.
- 1:02:35So props to them. I would love to see them over the Rays. They're up
- 1:02:381-0 right now. Yeah, I mean, I'm a Red Sox fan. I'm not rooting for
- 1:02:41them. Listen, no, if I had my choice between seeing Cleveland Guardians or the Rays
- 1:02:44in the World Series, I would take the Cleveland Guardians. Yeah, for sure. And it's
- 1:02:47not because I dislike the Rays. It's just it's the fucking Rays. Like,
- 1:02:50no one gives a shit about the Rays. People in Tampa don't give a shit
- 1:02:53about the Rays. I'm not trying to be an asshole. I truly am not.
- 1:02:57The Rays are amazing. The Rays are fucking amazing. It's not— they have an amazing
- 1:03:00team. Just no one fucking cares. It's just I,
- 1:03:04I wish there was another way for me to fucking say this. You're not wrong.
- 1:03:07And that's— by the way, it's not just It's not just the Rays, like South
- 1:03:11Florida sports. It's all like, no one cares about the Marlins. No one. Like,
- 1:03:14they just don't fucking care. They don't care. I wish they did, because then
- 1:03:18I would maybe care a little more. You can barely get them to care
- 1:03:22about like the Lightning, who are like, we're a dynasty for a fucking— or the
- 1:03:25fucking Heat. Like, the Heat without LeBron, you can't get people to go to those
- 1:03:28goddamn games. Um, let's talk about Brewers-Dodgers,
- 1:03:32because the Dodgers are in serious trouble. They are in fucking serious trouble.
- 1:03:36They're down 2 games to the— to the, uh, the Dodgers are down 2
- 1:03:40games to the Brewers, and they lost game 2, 7-4,
- 1:03:44um, chasing Yamamoto after just 2 and a half innings, which is fucking
- 1:03:48crazy. Insane. That's insane. Insane. Uh,
- 1:03:52William Contreras delivered 3 hits and 3 RBIs.
- 1:03:55This guy, this has been his coming out party. He's pimping singles, he's pimping home
- 1:03:59runs. For nearly 40 seconds to round the fucking bases. I love it. Because he
- 1:04:02needed— you know I love it. He needed to stop between second and third.
- 1:04:04To fucking hype up the crowd in left field because he fucking needed to take
- 1:04:07those 10 seconds to do it. You know what, I agree, he needed those fucking
- 1:04:1010 seconds to do it. Fuck, this is electric.
- 1:04:13This team is electric. Pat Murphy's got them playing on every fucking cylinder.
- 1:04:16They are, they are little gnats. They just constantly kill you with
- 1:04:20a thousand cuts and it's fucking getting to the dog. Seeing them get under the
- 1:04:23skin of Yamamoto, I've never seen Yamamoto be gotten to. Yeah, never one fucking
- 1:04:27time. I couldn't fucking believe my eyes. I thought the
- 1:04:31Dodgers were going to win game 2 with ease because Yamamoto was going to throw
- 1:04:348 innings shutout fucking baseball, maybe give up 1 run.
- 1:04:38Logan Henderson, by the way, looked like shit, threw away 2 balls. Dodgers got 4
- 1:04:41runs because Logan Henderson threw away 2 balls and gave them 2 extra
- 1:04:45runs. Dodgers are not hitting. They're not fucking hitting.
- 1:04:49They are not manufacturing runs. They're not hitting for fucking power. Ohtani is
- 1:04:53clearly fucking hurt. By the way, it just got announced Ohtani is going to start
- 1:04:56in tomorrow's game. Which I'm fine with because at the end of the day,
- 1:04:58I don't give a fuck if his arm is sawed off. I will take a
- 1:05:01shot on Shohei Ohtani running into something because he's Shohei Ohtani.
- 1:05:04But clearly he's playing with a broken spine. I don't know what's wrong with
- 1:05:08him, but we're gonna find out. He's got like fucking like a lacerated
- 1:05:12kidney and he's actually playing with 9 bullet wounds in his chest.
- 1:05:17That's what we're gonna find out. But right now he's playing. I think he's
- 1:05:20just hurt like a regular baseball player. He's not regular. He's a unicorn.
- 1:05:24You can't— you Bullet wounds is the only way to take this guy out.
- 1:05:27Hey, listen, if that— if that's— if that's something that impresses
- 1:05:31you, I have a dude from like the 2001
- 1:05:34Celtics that'll blow your mind. Survived 11
- 1:05:37stab wounds and then played. Oh, I thought you— I thought you were bringing up
- 1:05:41Paul Pierce when I was— I need to shit. No, I was bringing up Paul
- 1:05:44Pierce getting stabbed. Oh, I thought you were talking about the time he needed to
- 1:05:47shit and had to be coming out. I was talking— I was talking about a
- 1:05:49dude getting stabbed like 9 to 11 times and then
- 1:05:52actually playing the entire season. I agree. Remember that time we needed to take a
- 1:05:56shit? The only reason we know that, by the way, is because he told us.
- 1:05:58I know, we never would have known. I still don't
- 1:06:03even fucking love Paul Pierce. I'm not gonna lie, I don't even know if I
- 1:06:05believe him. I do. Um, I— well, no, because I think it's worse. I just
- 1:06:10think he didn't— I think he was like, it could have been worse. Do you
- 1:06:12know what I mean? Because like, it could be worse than even
- 1:06:16that. And it is Paul Pierce, because him just flopping and just like needing
- 1:06:20a timeout or whatever I don't think he did that. Like, it does actually seem
- 1:06:24more like— but still, it's wild. But wouldn't Paul Pierce do that? He would do
- 1:06:28all of it. So I don't fucking know. Again, you probably need to go in
- 1:06:31and take a little cocaine or something. Close to death. I know. I don't know
- 1:06:34what his problem is. I can't tell you this enough. I fucking love Paul Pierce.
- 1:06:38Fellow L.A. local. Fellow L.A. local. Inglewood.
- 1:06:41So yeah, the, the depth and bullpen are really exposing the Dodgers
- 1:06:46right now. The Milwaukee— they really are across the board. Perfect game
- 1:06:50yesterday for the bullpen yesterday. They, they look phenomenal. Uh, Pat Murphy,
- 1:06:54kudos to Pat Murphy and everything he's do— he's created. Pat Murphy, I know you're
- 1:06:57a big Pat Murphy guy, right? Are you? Well, I've known Pat a long time.
- 1:07:00No, no, I, I played for Pat for 4 years. I, I like Pat.
- 1:07:04Yeah, I don't love Pat, but I like Pat. You've always been complimentary about his
- 1:07:08skill set. Oh no, Pat Murphy as a manager, actually, I don't love his managerial
- 1:07:13of a game at all. Oh, uh, but right now he's just— he just does
- 1:07:16what the numbers say now. Like, it's been funny, it's been really weird. This has
- 1:07:19been really weird, this thing. But by the way, I don't blame Pat Murphy for
- 1:07:22doing that. He play the numbers, play the numbers. I mean, that's exactly what Dave
- 1:07:25Roberts does. Dave Roberts doesn't manage the game. No, he does actually, believe it or
- 1:07:28not. He takes the numbers and uses them, but he doesn't just play the numbers.
- 1:07:31He used to play the numbers and it bit him on the ass too many
- 1:07:33times, and now he kind of takes it and goes— he, he's gotten the leeway
- 1:07:36to do it. Uh, finally. It took, it took 2020.
- 1:07:40I think it took 2020. No, because that When, when,
- 1:07:44when they, they won that one and then would they lose?
- 1:07:48Have they lost one since? They lost in 2021. The Braves
- 1:07:51won that one. Yeah, he was not running that fight because they made crazy choices.
- 1:07:55I was like, there's no way Dave Roberts would fucking do this. Well, anyways,
- 1:07:58Pat Murphy definitely plays the numbers. But what Pat does, he's really good specifically
- 1:08:02with a grouping of young guys. And that's a young roster. Yeah,
- 1:08:05young grouping of players. If, if he can get those guys Pat
- 1:08:10got— I think Pat like hates me now because I say— I've said this
- 1:08:14about him so many times, but it's truly the most astute and honest
- 1:08:18like description of him. Pat Murphy, and I said it just
- 1:08:22now on like VC a minute ago, Pat Murphy is a like a con man,
- 1:08:25like an outrageously gifted con
- 1:08:29man who just instead of robbing banks
- 1:08:33and being the worst piece of shit in the world decided to be a Major
- 1:08:36League Baseball manager and uses his con man fucking skills to convince every
- 1:08:40single one of those players that they are the greatest player who's ever lived.
- 1:08:44And he really gets them to believe it. He got me to believe it for
- 1:08:47years. How he is able to manipulate a room is actually
- 1:08:51quite staggering. Um, and it's really honestly fun to watch, especially when you know
- 1:08:55that's what he's doing, uh, because he just knows how to play the charm.
- 1:08:58He's the most charming man in the fucking world.
- 1:09:01And he can play the charm in every possible way. Like, if you're a kid,
- 1:09:05he knows it. Oh, it's an unbelievable skill set. He's unbelievable
- 1:09:09at it. And I mean that from the greatest compliment in the world. Does Pat
- 1:09:12Murphy have flaws? Oh, you fucking betcha. Do you got an hour and a half?
- 1:09:16You got 2 hours? Let's sit down. I'll tell you all about him. But what
- 1:09:20Pat Murphy is good at, he might be the very best at. And what
- 1:09:24he's accomplishing with this team is amazing. Pat Murphy has already turned
- 1:09:28himself into a folk hero. And knowing Pat Murphy, it was only a matter of
- 1:09:32time before he got in the mainstream as a folk hero. Would you ever hear
- 1:09:34about Terry Francona? Similar shit. Very similar shit.
- 1:09:38Always can handle the room, knows how to fucking do baseball
- 1:09:42managerial skills. Sure, handles a game fine,
- 1:09:46but that's not what he's good at. What he's good at is handling young players
- 1:09:50and players in general and getting players to do things. By the way, not just—
- 1:09:53not young players, because This is also what Dave Roberts is good at.
- 1:09:56Superstars. Exactly. Because when you—
- 1:10:00there is a very, very special skill set you have to have to handle
- 1:10:04a bunch of random motherfuckers. Yeah, that's what Pat Murphy's not good at. Right.
- 1:10:07Which is why that specific team has to be— when Pat Murphy was the manager
- 1:10:11of the San Diego Padres, there were superstars on that team. Matt Kemp, BJ Upton,
- 1:10:14Justin Upton, like guys that have been there. They were not—
- 1:10:18Kate Upton. Kate Upton also probably popped by once or twice. No,
- 1:10:22they— that clubhouse. Was not buying into
- 1:10:25Pat Murphy shit. Yeah, they were, they were having fucking none of
- 1:10:29it. I know because I was there. But you get them in this locker room,
- 1:10:32they're having it and they are buying in. And when you get a whole team
- 1:10:35that buys in like that into like, more or less— and I apologize
- 1:10:38for this because it's going to sound demeaning, it's not meant to be because I
- 1:10:41mean this is very much a compliment— but kind of taking in that like college
- 1:10:44mentality. I was gonna say, this is— there's a, there's a style of college
- 1:10:49coaching that is very much, you know,
- 1:10:52that's what you're describing, is can you take a bunch of young guys and mold
- 1:10:56them and do whatever? And that's why a lot of college football coaches, let's say,
- 1:11:00do not translate to the NFL. And that's why you don't see a lot of
- 1:11:03college coaches in the, in, in Major League Baseball. Pat Murphy is
- 1:11:06one of the most storied college baseball coaches of all time at Arizona State,
- 1:11:09and it took him a long time to get— that's why Chris loves him.
- 1:11:12Yeah, it took him a long time to get that pro ball all, uh,
- 1:11:15credibility. It honestly took him going to the Brewers, being a bench
- 1:11:19coach for years— and there were a couple years when he was that bench coach,
- 1:11:21he was kind of eating some shit— that until he kind of was
- 1:11:25able to do his Pat Murphy thing,
- 1:11:28convince everybody there that he's the greatest thing in the world, and then he just
- 1:11:32slid right into the manager job. Sometimes it's just the right coach meets
- 1:11:36the right roster. Yes. And you know, like you said, he might— this might be
- 1:11:40the one, and this might be the one time he ever finds a roster that
- 1:11:43works for him. But when it works, it works. So, um, uh,
- 1:11:47couldn't happen to a better group of guys. I'm loving Dodgers.
- 1:11:50It's not over yet, but like, I think— I do think this is going to
- 1:11:53be a series. I think the Dodgers are going to wake up. They fucking better.
- 1:11:55If they don't, I don't think they're going to get swept. If they win— if
- 1:11:58they lose tomorrow, this series is a wrap. But if they win tomorrow, I— this—
- 1:12:03I think this series is going back to Milwaukee. Let's go over
- 1:12:07to Media Corner. Um, have you followed at all the way
- 1:12:11Adam Schefter reported the Cardinals trading Marvin Harrison Jr.?
- 1:12:15Sure, sure, sure. Let me say this fully, fully through, just in
- 1:12:18case I clip this for the internet. Do it. Have you followed completely
- 1:12:22the way that Adam Schefter has reported on the trading
- 1:12:26of Marvin Harrison Jr.? Sure have. I thought you had.
- 1:12:29A little shady, right? A little weird.
- 1:12:33Sure is. We all got that notification and thought, is there— did
- 1:12:37it— did they forget the second part? Did we all have that weird moment?
- 1:12:41I did. Okay. Perfect.
- 1:12:46On Saturday, Schefter reported that the Cardinals were finalizing a trade
- 1:12:50involving Marvin Harrison Jr., the 4th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
- 1:12:54Curiously, the report didn't include any details on
- 1:12:58where Harrison was being sent or what the Cardinals would receive
- 1:13:02in return. Schefter's original report included only that Harrison was informed he'd be inactive for
- 1:13:07Sunday's game against the Lions. Other reporters quickly added details after Schefter's
- 1:13:11initial report. Florio wrote that the wide receiver was likely headed to the Houston Texans,
- 1:13:15and The Athletic's Jonathan Jones later confirmed it. Later on
- 1:13:18Saturday, Schefter also confirmed that the Texans were most likely trade partner
- 1:13:22for Harrison, although nothing definitive was reported.
- 1:13:25Lots of theories on this framed the report, you know,
- 1:13:29different ways. Some believed he was trying to juice the market for Harrison's trade value.
- 1:13:33Other teams knew Harrison was being traded. Maybe they'd come in with a stronger offer
- 1:13:37than the Cardinals already had on the table. Others pointed to Schefter's relationship
- 1:13:40with the fantasy sports and prediction market operator Underdog
- 1:13:44as being the impetus. He was an early investor in the company.
- 1:13:47The open-ended nature of Schefter's report could spike trading volume on
- 1:13:51the site, it was suggested. Could it? Could that happen?
- 1:13:55No. Continue, Tanya. So Schefter
- 1:13:59defends himself and says, I saw some of these comments. I'm like, what do people
- 1:14:02want us to do? Like, that was the situation. Harrison was told he was inactive.
- 1:14:05He was told he was being traded. I think we all suspected that it was
- 1:14:08going to be the Houston Texans. We linked to them right away. And so people
- 1:14:11think you're heading— holding information. Like, no, I needed to be able to report the
- 1:14:15team. Like, you need somebody to say we're getting this done. Nobody in Arizona
- 1:14:19was saying Houston. Nobody in Houston was saying Houston. So if I put out
- 1:14:23there that he's being traded to Houston and all of a sudden they played the
- 1:14:25game Sunday and let's just say Houston loses and they decide to back out and
- 1:14:29they trade him to the Colts, then you're wrong, right?
- 1:14:33Uh, listen, Schefter, I don't know if you know this,
- 1:14:36but when you're told that a player is being traded somewhere and
- 1:14:41then the trade is canceled and then they send him somewhere else,
- 1:14:45you just report that. He's acting like—
- 1:14:49he's like, well, what am I supposed to do? What if I was wrong?
- 1:14:51First of all, this is It's fucking insane. I swear
- 1:14:54to God, these people think we're dumb. What you— yes, we all know. You report
- 1:14:58this, he's being traded. Word on the street is that it's the Texans. The Texans
- 1:15:01are the number one option. That's who they're in talks with right now. We think
- 1:15:05he's going to the Texans. If the Texans back out, you report that the Texans
- 1:15:08backed out. And when he goes to the Colts, let's say, or whatever else,
- 1:15:11then you report that. That's your fucking job. But what do
- 1:15:15you think about the little theories around, I don't know, the prediction market, maybe juicing
- 1:15:18his fucking value for the teams. And the— uh,
- 1:15:22would this be news to us about how Adam Schefter operates as one of the
- 1:15:26shadiest fucking insiders we've ever seen? By the way,
- 1:15:30Adam Schefter just saying that, like, I am claiming journalistic
- 1:15:34integrity on this, like, well, I didn't know for sure, I,
- 1:15:37I've never speculated. Fuck me.
- 1:15:41Also, you did know for sure because Florio and Jonathan— they all
- 1:15:44had it. So fucking everyone had it, including you. You didn't
- 1:15:48specify on it. And yes, I knew— I would love to know,
- 1:15:51does Florio have, uh, certain points in certain gambling apps
- 1:15:55and prediction market apps? Does, does any of the others? I know
- 1:15:58you fucking do. And I know the only insider that promoted
- 1:16:02anything around this trade that didn't specify a team, and the
- 1:16:06only reason I can possibly come up to why is because someone's seen
- 1:16:10how a lot of people has made a lot of money on wars over the
- 1:16:14last couple of years. I don't know what to say other than there's only one
- 1:16:18reason someone would do this. You're omitting.
- 1:16:22You know you're omitting. Why are you omitting? And your,
- 1:16:25your response to your omission is journalistic integrity?
- 1:16:29Adam Schefter? Yeah. Fucking what?
- 1:16:33I'm not fucking— what? This was— I'm not gonna lie, this was like
- 1:16:37a— I, I've, I've been done with Schefter This is not
- 1:16:42like a thing where I'm like, oh, I'm so disappointed. But this was sort of
- 1:16:45a final straw for me. Par for the course to me. Like,
- 1:16:48this was like a, like, oh, you actually think
- 1:16:52we are that dumb? You think we're that dumb?
- 1:16:56You think we're that dumb? We have been getting push notifications
- 1:17:00to our phones about trades or impending trades or
- 1:17:04trade shopping for fucking 15 years,
- 1:17:08you loser. What do you think, we're fucking new to this? Holy shit.
- 1:17:13And then Florio comes out, he's like, it's the Texans. And Jonathan Jones like,
- 1:17:15it's the Texans. And he's like, well, exactly, I was thinking also that it might
- 1:17:19be the Texans. What I didn't want to say because of my journalistic integrity for
- 1:17:23all the years, honestly, Mr. Editor didn't say I
- 1:17:27could say it. As soon as I have money, I will invest in whoever will
- 1:17:30write the fucking exposé on this piece of shit. Like, truly, I love
- 1:17:34it. Truly, I love it. Like, who wants to do it? I'm not an investigative
- 1:17:37journalist. We got fucking notes, you know what I mean? Yeah. Um,
- 1:17:41I— this pissed me off, Cody. This pissed
- 1:17:45me off. What pissed you off? Headline, uh, uh, Media Corner
- 1:17:49number 2. Um, Taylor Rooks defends her friendships
- 1:17:53with athletes she covers. Okay, now our
- 1:17:57OG viewers are going to remember that we did a lot of
- 1:18:01conversation around this, around Diana seen it. And the double standard around deciding
- 1:18:05that suddenly insiders don't have relationships— by the way, Schefter,
- 1:18:08who we just talked about, does this. Okay. This summer, the host of Amazon
- 1:18:12Prime Video's NBA on Prime attended the weddings of NBA
- 1:18:15stars Tyrese Halliburton and Donovan Mitchell on back-to-back days, she told
- 1:18:19Bridget Condon during the Front Office Sports, uh, Tuned In Summit on Tuesday. Kevin Durant
- 1:18:23is also a close friend, she said, and he attended her wedding last year,
- 1:18:26and she's an equity partner in his company boardroom. She said,
- 1:18:30I actually think it sometimes makes me, uh, a little bit— makes it
- 1:18:33a little bit easier. She said, largely because a lot of those tough conversations
- 1:18:37you're just having already. For example, she said during Mitchell's wedding, she had a discussion
- 1:18:41with the Cavaliers star about why he hasn't been able to get his team over
- 1:18:44the hump. Uh, she said, you know, there's a lot of stuff that, like,
- 1:18:47in these conversations I can ask him, are you not elevating your
- 1:18:51teammates? I can do that thing because we have that kind of conversation like friends.
- 1:18:53She goes, Having private conversations about topics like that make it easier for her to
- 1:18:57ask hard questions when she's sitting down in a one-on-one. It's about honesty.
- 1:19:01Those questions are fair. Your story is your story. I think that
- 1:19:04one of the reasons you end up sitting with me is because there is a
- 1:19:08trust that exists, and that trust really is this daily deposit,
- 1:19:11both with the audience and with that person that you're interviewing. Now,
- 1:19:15Front Office Sports notes reporters getting too close with people they cover can
- 1:19:18lead to backlash, especially for female reporters who are often scrutinized differently. Than their male
- 1:19:22counterparts. She previously addressed that in a 2025 Substack
- 1:19:25post, uh, writing, there are people who feel that I should change my personal relationships
- 1:19:30with athletes simply because I'm a woman, despite the fact that male reporters have built
- 1:19:34their entire careers on access and relationships. She doubled down on that
- 1:19:38point during Tuned In. She said, this is a relationship business. This is
- 1:19:41about maintaining relationships and building relationships. So this
- 1:19:47entire piece from Front Office Sports seems like
- 1:19:50it is actually trying to give Taylor Rooks some credit.
- 1:19:54So to their credit, whatever. What's happening
- 1:19:57here and what I think is so cool and infuriating
- 1:20:01about what Taylor Rooks is doing is that she is exposing
- 1:20:05what has always existed between
- 1:20:09reporters and athletes because
- 1:20:13she can't get away with not doing it. Yeah, right. So we
- 1:20:18have seen this time and time again. We know this happens.
- 1:20:23We know there's these relationships. We know that they go to
- 1:20:27each other. Like, we know that this level of closeness between athletes exists and has
- 1:20:31for decades, um, between athletes and reporters,
- 1:20:34athletes and media people. Yes. But Taylor Rooks has figured out
- 1:20:37at some point very early on, because she got a ton of like bullshit,
- 1:20:40she was like, oh, I'm just gonna have to be out with this. And so
- 1:20:44I'm gonna have to kind of expose an insider secret that like,
- 1:20:48this is how, this is how we all operate. You just don't like that I'm
- 1:20:52not apologizing for it. Yeah, I love that she's like,
- 1:20:55oh no, I'm not apologizing. Like, I'm gonna keep giving you really good interviews and
- 1:20:58really good access to athletes, and this is how I'm going to do it,
- 1:21:01by the way. Yeah, like, where's the fucking problem?
- 1:21:06We just, we just showed you someone who constantly says that they're unbiased,
- 1:21:09who literally won't report anything real anymore. Why are
- 1:21:13you fucking interviewing Taylor Rooks about her insider access and her friendship?
- 1:21:17So she went to Tyrese Halliburton's wedding. Guess what? He's probably gonna tell her stuff
- 1:21:20and then she'll report it to us. What do you want? Because she's a hot
- 1:21:24woman. That's literally it. That's literally it. You know how I get my
- 1:21:28interviews on my shows? My fucking relationships that I have from people I played with,
- 1:21:32people I've become friends with, people fucking I've been out with.
- 1:21:35And definitely not people who hate you. Like, those people are not gonna fucking interview
- 1:21:39you. I don't know what tell you, she's right. This is a relationship business.
- 1:21:41I, I don't know why we have to explain this to people. This is fucking
- 1:21:45maddening. Uh, like, it's just maddening. It's fucking maddening.
- 1:21:48I, I don't know what else to say. It's— no shit, it's a fucking relationship
- 1:21:53business. Like, how else do you get your goddamn information?
- 1:21:57And by the way, I'm not saying this to Taylor Rooks. I'm saying this that
- 1:21:59I'm frustrated for her that she has to fucking justify this.
- 1:22:03I've never heard Adam— Adam fucking, uh, Schefter fucking
- 1:22:06talk about this. I haven't heard fucking Glazer.
- 1:22:09Glazer fucking talk about this. I was out at the strip
- 1:22:14club last week with 9 players like that guy. Like, like the
- 1:22:18fact that she has to say anything is fucking maddening. And by the way,
- 1:22:22if you compare her to someone like Jay Glazer, who has openly been BFF
- 1:22:26with NFL players this entire time, let's say if you compare,
- 1:22:29she is so much more professional. She is so much more
- 1:22:33professional about it. She really does genuinely say, I'm— this
- 1:22:38is, this is the type of relationship I have. I'm not, I'm not like apologizing
- 1:22:41for it. And also, I'm not gonna bring drama to your front door. I'm not
- 1:22:44gonna fucking, you know— and I'm also gonna ask interesting questions, and I'm gonna earn
- 1:22:48the trust of these people in a way that like genuinely gets us extra access
- 1:22:53to their thoughts and feelings. I gotta be honest, people think that,
- 1:22:58oh well, if I could just interview— if I was just friends with with,
- 1:23:01uh, Jonathan Mitchell, I could just interview him too. If I was just friends with
- 1:23:03Kevin Durant, I could— no, you couldn't. Because that— this is the other thing,
- 1:23:07you actually have to have a fucking skill set to do this. It doesn't matter
- 1:23:10if you're friends with people. It doesn't matter if you have access. That doesn't matter.
- 1:23:14I, I am a great interviewer and I always have been.
- 1:23:19I would be a better interviewer than anybody who's
- 1:23:24also their friend because I have a fucking degree in it. I've been doing it
- 1:23:27my whole life. That's how this works. You don't just like figure out how
- 1:23:31to create a great— create a great conversation and something
- 1:23:35that's great for television and give it the cadence and ask the right questions and
- 1:23:37phrase things the right way and frame things the right way just because you know
- 1:23:41somebody. That's a fucking skill set. So like,
- 1:23:45congrats. You think that because you are— have a friend
- 1:23:49that's an athlete that you could just do what Taylor Rooks could do? You couldn't.
- 1:23:53You couldn't and you won't. So get over it.
- 1:23:58Yeah. Before we go— what she said— there's
- 1:24:01one more aspect of sports
- 1:24:06media that continues to treat us like we're stupid, Cody. So we're going to—
- 1:24:10we're going to circle back to ESPN. Oh, they're so great.
- 1:24:14They do everything right. No one is expecting a financial
- 1:24:18windfall from a potential '24 team playoff, ESPN said.
- 1:24:23No one is expecting a financial windfall from a
- 1:24:2724-team playoff. It's not— that's not what this is about, Cody.
- 1:24:30So again, I ask you, at this point we have to ask ourselves, how fucking
- 1:24:33dumb does ESPN think we are? This 24-team playoff
- 1:24:37would require eliminating conference championships, which would together generate about
- 1:24:40$300 million in revenue. That means any playoff expansion would need to offset
- 1:24:44the revenue loss from eliminating conference championships. It's certainly up for debate whether
- 1:24:49a handful of the first-round playoff games in the back half of the
- 1:24:52top 25 would be worth more than conference title games that involve nation's
- 1:24:56top teams. By the way, conference title games don't always involve nation's
- 1:25:00top teams, but whatever. That's the dilemma that CFP leadership and ESPN
- 1:25:04are currently gamed out over, with ESPN holding the player— player
- 1:25:08playoffs exclusive rights. Last month, the CFP opened a
- 1:25:1230-day negotiating window with ESPN, which ended Friday when the
- 1:25:15CFP sent the network a final proposal. ESPN will now have until October
- 1:25:1919th at the latest to agree to a deal. If no deal is reached,
- 1:25:22as the ongoing negotiations suggest, the CFP will take its 2014
- 1:25:26proposal to an open market where other networks can submit bids.
- 1:25:30So it's interesting that over the weekend,
- 1:25:33as numerous reports surfaced about the status of talks between CFP and ESPN,
- 1:25:37ESPN's own story said that sources told ESPN
- 1:25:41that no one is expecting a financial windfall from a potential '24
- 1:25:45playoff. Of course not. Why would— why would that happen?
- 1:25:48Heather— that was Heather Dinich's report. So if that were the case,
- 1:25:52it raises questions of why a 24-team
- 1:25:55format is being pursued in the first place. Yeah, why would you want it then?
- 1:25:59So because it would lose you money. So naturally, this is very
- 1:26:03obviously ESPN trying to get other networks
- 1:26:07not to outbid them or to compete with them by trying
- 1:26:10to convince them that there's no financial benefit to picking
- 1:26:14up a 24-team playoff. It is— ESPN
- 1:26:19has a financial incentive to say this, and you and
- 1:26:23I both know that that is so fucking stupid.
- 1:26:26I can't believe they're trying to sell us on it. It's one thing to sell—
- 1:26:30like, who is it? Who is this for?
- 1:26:33Like, who is this article for? Is it for the masses,
- 1:26:37or is it for the other companies? For Peacock and Netflix? Netflix.
- 1:26:40Yeah, yeah, you don't need to announce to them that they can make
- 1:26:44fucking a lot of money. No, it's one thing to gaslight us
- 1:26:47and make us think we're stupid. Convincing other networks
- 1:26:51that they're just fucking this inept is something else. Like, I'm like,
- 1:26:54this is batshit. Imagine, imagine the CEO over at
- 1:26:58Peacock being like, oh, but did you read the ESPN article?
- 1:27:01Said that they're not even— that it's not even gonna make them any money,
- 1:27:04so should we just not even bothered. We should just kind of let them have
- 1:27:08it, right?
- 1:27:10Right. Because, because, you know, because you know who really— listen, Fox Sports
- 1:27:15has its problems. We know, we worked there for a while. It has its problems.
- 1:27:18But it seems like when they have the sports on,
- 1:27:23people tend to tune in. It's literally the only thing people watch on
- 1:27:26television anymore. Seems to be the one thing people— but listen,
- 1:27:30it's not a moneymaker. That's why ESPN thinks you
- 1:27:34all shouldn't bid. This is,
- 1:27:38this is something. It's something, right? This is something.
- 1:27:41Maybe this was just for like David Ellison. Maybe they're just thinking David Ellison's a
- 1:27:45complete moron because he's just a nepo baby who's like somehow getting daddy's billions to
- 1:27:48connect all these companies. I'm just like, like, he won't
- 1:27:52bid because he's an idiot. I am genuinely like,
- 1:27:55what the fuck? Is wrong with you?
- 1:27:59I cannot believe you actually think anyone
- 1:28:02on planet Earth would buy that. You guys wrote this with a straight face.
- 1:28:05I don't, I don't respect CEOs very much to begin with. I do think half
- 1:28:08of them are fucking morons and the other half are like intentionally
- 1:28:12obtuse. But even then, this is— we're
- 1:28:16not in this for that. You know us, ESPN, we're just trying to give you
- 1:28:20guys— because another thing that this— that's not about the money. Another thing that they
- 1:28:23pointed out was it raises the question of why this would happen, because— or
- 1:28:27why a 2014 format would be pursued in the first place, because fans
- 1:28:31have largely spoken out against it, as have many media members. No one
- 1:28:35outside of networks wants this.
- 1:28:39No one wants this. And ESPN's like,
- 1:28:43we're excited to make this an exclusive. This fucking article's hilarious. What are we talking
- 1:28:46about anymore?
- 1:28:49I'm assuming Heather was told to write this. Heather, I'm so sorry.
- 1:28:53They're all told to write it. She did her best. She did her best.
- 1:28:57And I— that's why I love that she put these little extra things in here.
- 1:29:00And I guess she doesn't have an editor. They didn't proofread it or check— proofread's
- 1:29:03not the right word, but check what she wrote, because that's just fucking hilarious.
- 1:29:06No one wants this except for the networks, but the network is adamant we won't
- 1:29:10make money off of this. Then why do you want it? Why do you want
- 1:29:14it? Then just honestly, why do you want it? The fans don't want it.
- 1:29:16The leagues don't want it. The fucking— no one wants this.
- 1:29:20It's not the money though. It's never the money. Why would it be the money?
- 1:29:23Why would a 24— why would expanding the playoffs be for the money, Cody?
- 1:29:26What are you, crazy? What are you, fucking crazy? I don't watch the conference championships,
- 1:29:30but I watch the playoffs. So they're like, we might even
- 1:29:33actually lose money because of the— yeah, can you think of all the work
- 1:29:37we're gonna have to do? All the graphics we're gonna have to build?
- 1:29:4124 teams. Dear by George,
- 1:29:45how can we compete with ourselves? You mean we're
- 1:29:49not gonna— like, they're gonna lose so much money because Oregon and Oregon State
- 1:29:54or whatever the fuck aren't gonna— do you have any idea how much it costs
- 1:29:57to make an Oregon Beavers logo? I hate, I hate everything.
- 1:30:01Oh, there are 2 OSUs and they wear the same colors?
- 1:30:05This is gonna take weeks and millions. We're never gonna recover.
- 1:30:09We're not It's gonna be the fucking— I'm never gonna financially
- 1:30:13recover from this. The Tiger
- 1:30:17King. It's also Disney, is the other
- 1:30:20thing. Like, oh yeah, you guys are never doing it for that. We're doing it
- 1:30:24for the love of the game that none of you want. Disney only does things
- 1:30:27for love of the game, people. Oh my God, that's why they do it.
- 1:30:30Well, look at us, we actually did— we did pretty well. We got through all
- 1:30:33that. Well, we did it for love of the game too. Just like Disney.
- 1:30:37Yeah, I don't, I don't have anything in Pop Culture Corner this week. Who needs
- 1:30:40it? I don't think I'm still thinking about Lanterns and how great it was.
- 1:30:43Well, there's— listen, there's going to be, there's going to be a lot of
- 1:30:46discourse on that as more DC movies come out and everything else. So,
- 1:30:50you know, it is, it is what it is. Holy hell. Well, listen, guys,
- 1:30:54at the end of the day, like, share, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.

- 1:33:47but he's still alive. It— well, and that's why— and that's
- 1:33:51the good thing for us is because no matter whether we get to the Buddy
