Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hi, friends, It's Jennifer Fessler and Jackie Colchnight.
- 0:05Speaker 2: And we are too Jersey Jays. How's everyone doing? How
- 0:09Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm doing pretty good. A bit of a crazy sad week.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I had a friend who passed. Oh I'm sorry, thank
- 0:15Speaker 1: you so much. So yeah, that was really hard, but
- 0:20Speaker 1: sorrow was for another episode, although actually not really because
- 0:23Speaker 1: we're talking about social media.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Yeah, plenty of sorrow from social media. It's an interesting
- 0:28Speaker 2: week too. Something that I didn't put on social media.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I had to have a liver by Epcy this week.
- 0:33Speaker 2: That was not fun. That was not fun. I did
- 0:36Speaker 2: not put that on social media. And that leads us
- 0:38Speaker 2: right in.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, right, because we're talking about well, in my humble opinion,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and I'm talking about my own social media, my social
- 0:49Speaker 1: media is a lie.
- 0:52Speaker 2: No, it's not really a lie. You do have genuinely
- 0:55Speaker 2: good times and a lot of friends.
- 0:57Speaker 1: However, social media is not real, and again it may
- 1:03Speaker 1: be for some. I'm talking about from my perspective and
- 1:07Speaker 1: my own social media. That's not to say that I
- 1:10Speaker 1: don't post from my actual real life, but what I
- 1:14Speaker 1: represent on social media, I think that it comes off
- 1:20Speaker 1: as I maybe even try to make it come off
- 1:21Speaker 1: as my entire life, and it really is just a snapshot,
- 1:27Speaker 1: a snap not only a snapshot happy stuff.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Of course it is. And that's the whole point of today,
- 1:32Speaker 2: is that, you know, we talk a lot about the
- 1:35Speaker 2: effects of social media on young people, right, but we
- 1:40Speaker 2: don't talk about the effects of social media on middle aged.
- 1:44Speaker 1: People, right, particularly middle aged women, but actually no middle
- 1:47Speaker 1: aged people, right. But it really does have an effect.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I mean, how much time have you lost to deep
- 1:55Speaker 1: diving on someone else's life on social media? Well, how
- 1:58Speaker 1: about before that, how much time have I lost pretending
- 2:04Speaker 1: about my own life on social media? So let me
- 2:06Speaker 1: tell you. I'll tell you a story. So a few
- 2:09Speaker 1: months back, the four of us, my family, we went
- 2:13Speaker 1: to Mexico for a fabulous vacation, a week long vacation.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It was at the most beautiful resort, and we were
- 2:23Speaker 1: obviously all psyched. I spent so much of this vacation posing.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I spent so much of it taking the perfect pictures.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I spent so much of it with my phone glued
- 2:39Speaker 1: to my face. I spent so many dinners where we
- 2:44Speaker 1: were all on our phones. And then one of us
- 2:47Speaker 1: would have the sense to say, guys, let's put our
- 2:52Speaker 1: phones down, And so we would and we would have
- 2:55Speaker 1: the appetizer, and then we would check our phones again,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and then Mommy would get up and say, guys, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: need to take a picture of Rachel you eating the crembrulet,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and let's take a video of me dancing into the restaurant.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So let me just say that all of that happened,
- 3:14Speaker 1: it was all fun. What I didn't show on social
- 3:19Speaker 1: media is us arguing at the dinner table, even though
- 3:24Speaker 1: it was a perfect vacation. What I didn't show on
- 3:27Speaker 1: social media is me pitching a fit because no one
- 3:31Speaker 1: wanted to sit in the shade and I wanted to
- 3:34Speaker 1: sit in the sun. Or to my son, I don't
- 3:38Speaker 1: like what you're wearing. Mom, I'm twenty three years old.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I don't give two shits if you like what I'm wearing.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You know all of that that goes along with it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I don't air that you don't see that. Let me
- 3:49Speaker 1: assure you that as wonderful as the vacation was, they
- 3:53Speaker 1: were parts of it that were not so wonderful. And
- 3:58Speaker 1: so it's it's just for me.
- 4:02Speaker 2: It's not real.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I think that I would love to blame it on
- 4:07Speaker 1: the fact that I'm now a public figure or whatever
- 4:11Speaker 1: you want to say, I'm not that jack Hint. Okay,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'm a star, but anyway, I'm not Jackie Goldschneider. I'm not.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But what it doesn't matter that pressure of showing my
- 4:28Speaker 1: life off and I think making it seem aspirational. I'm
- 4:36Speaker 1: following the lead of other and most I think celebrities right,
- 4:41Speaker 1: Like you know, I think that you can be real
- 4:44Speaker 1: on social media. I think that you can talk about
- 4:47Speaker 1: your issues on social media. But what I see, for
- 4:50Speaker 1: the most part, specifically from celebrities, also from friends and acquaintances,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I see a lot of perfect lives. So I'm here
- 5:01Speaker 1: to tell you that I think that social media is
- 5:06Speaker 1: not real.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Well, I think that as middle aged women, it's particularly
- 5:14Speaker 2: hard on us because we're already going through changes at
- 5:18Speaker 2: this age. In this age group that add to you know,
- 5:24Speaker 2: they just complicate our relationship with social media. So like
- 5:27Speaker 2: when we're I think more prone because of our you know,
- 5:31Speaker 2: changing hormones and changing looks, you know, and and the
- 5:35Speaker 2: fact that, like we spoke about last time, we feel
- 5:38Speaker 2: a little less visible in society. I think that we're
- 5:42Speaker 2: already prone to feeling a little more anxious and a
- 5:44Speaker 2: little more depressed when we compare our lives to others.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And that's exactly what social media does. It makes us, right,
- 5:54Speaker 2: but compare our lives to other people, like we could
- 5:57Speaker 2: look at other people who are in the same age group,
- 6:00Speaker 2: and we say, have I accomplished as much as they
- 6:04Speaker 2: have accomplished? Is my life as good? Do I go on?
- 6:07Speaker 2: As many vacations do I have as many friends? Are
- 6:10Speaker 2: my children as happy? And really it's really causing alarming
- 6:16Speaker 2: levels of depression. I mean, there's a lot of studies
- 6:19Speaker 2: about this stuff and the results are really alarming. For that,
- 6:27Speaker 2: women who are just adults, US adults who use photo
- 6:31Speaker 2: sharing social media platforms are much more likely to report
- 6:34Speaker 2: feeling depressed than compared to those who don't.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You know, did you see recently there was at Mark
- 6:42Speaker 1: Zuckerberg and who else was there? There was a hearing
- 6:47Speaker 1: and he actually apologized to a bunch of parents about
- 6:53Speaker 1: to their kids who had done harmful things to themselves
- 6:57Speaker 1: as a result of depression that they incurred from social media.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So we're all so concerned about kids and the effects, right,
- 7:07Speaker 1: And I'm here to tell you and I think Jackie,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you are too. It has its effects on me.
- 7:12Speaker 2: It has.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Not such great effects on me. So let me also
- 7:18Speaker 1: caveat all of this with saying that I'm not going
- 7:21Speaker 1: off social media today. I am addicted to social media.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So I think maybe the first step is recognizing that
- 7:28Speaker 1: I have a problem, right, which I absolutely do.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Well, we're going to go through all the ways to
- 7:34Speaker 2: kind of disconnect later, but like, how many times have
- 7:38Speaker 2: you seen, for example, a couple that announces they're getting
- 7:43Speaker 2: divorced and you're like, wait, what, your marriage is so perfect?
- 7:48Speaker 1: You just wrote on his birthday post Happy Birthday to
- 7:53Speaker 1: the love of my life. There is no me without you,
- 7:57Speaker 1: the perfect father, the perfect husband, my rock, right yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 2: And you're like, wait, I don't understand because everything was
- 8:04Speaker 2: so beautiful, and I mean I feel like I feel
- 8:09Speaker 2: like that's just emblematic of like so many things that
- 8:11Speaker 2: I see so many times that even you jen like,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I'll see you go to something and I'm like, wow,
- 8:17Speaker 2: that's amazing, Like I wish I was there with her,
- 8:19Speaker 2: and then you'll be like it was okay, Well, you
- 8:22Speaker 2: know it's tired.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I think, right, well, I'm always tired and I'd always
- 8:26Speaker 1: rather be home. Well, first of me say that my
- 8:29Speaker 1: friends that are you know, outside of the housewives and
- 8:34Speaker 1: outside of the whole, you know, public arena, They're like, Jen,
- 8:40Speaker 1: you are so busy. You are on the go, because
- 8:44Speaker 1: what do they see. They see me going out for
- 8:48Speaker 1: the night to whatever social event with other people that
- 8:53Speaker 1: are also public figures. And then they see my next post,
- 8:56Speaker 1: which is me going out with someone that they may
- 9:00Speaker 1: know to a charity event, and then there's more me
- 9:05Speaker 1: and I'm at you know, I'm shopping for fabulous things.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So all of that is giving off this message that
- 9:13Speaker 1: I am so busy and so fact.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Like I had a friend say to me, she was like,
- 9:18Speaker 2: I wanted to see if you wanted to go out
- 9:20Speaker 2: for drinks, but you're always every time I look at
- 9:22Speaker 2: your Instagram, you're on a red carpet, And I'm thinking
- 9:24Speaker 2: to myself, wow, because most nights I'm on my couch
- 9:26Speaker 2: eating jello and pajamas, so you could totally call me right.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Well, and in my bed eating usually it's popcorn and
- 9:34Speaker 1: ice cream.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But anyway, anyway.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's the perception that I think I give
- 9:39Speaker 1: off and that I'm trying to give off. But again,
- 9:43Speaker 1: the first step is recognizing that you have a problem.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So I'm here to tell you friends, that is not
- 9:48Speaker 1: what my life looks like. And I think that it
- 9:52Speaker 1: pours over not just into you know, seeing adults going
- 9:59Speaker 1: places that are glamorous, uh and looking a certain way
- 10:03Speaker 1: and you know, having the perfect marriage. It even I
- 10:06Speaker 1: think it even pours over into look at my kid.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Oh so, and that starts, I feel like at a
- 10:15Speaker 1: young age, so like neither one of my kids, just
- 10:18Speaker 1: like Jeff and I neither won, are athletic, and they
- 10:21Speaker 1: never were. And the constant barrage on social media forget
- 10:27Speaker 1: about them seeing what they saw, but of me seeing
- 10:31Speaker 1: you know, the accolades poured. Yay Joey, Joey, you know,
- 10:39Speaker 1: got twelve home runs in the game, and Mandy just
- 10:45Speaker 1: won the Gymnastus competition. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm
- 10:47Speaker 1: not saying that, you know that you shouldn't be able
- 10:51Speaker 1: to share fabulous things about your kids, but sometimes the
- 10:55Speaker 1: effects of it. And then let's like, let's move on
- 10:58Speaker 1: to bar and Bob mitzvah. Let's move on to and
- 11:02Speaker 1: my kid made Honor Roll this year, and congratulations to
- 11:08Speaker 1: my straight A student who's going to Duke, and wow,
- 11:13Speaker 1: sammy just got into law school, whatever it is.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm so proud all of that is.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 11:22Speaker 1: It's fabulous news, right, and you want the people that
- 11:25Speaker 1: you love and their children and to be happy and
- 11:28Speaker 1: do wonderful things. But it does provoke a certain feeling
- 11:33Speaker 1: of maybe inadequacy sometimes. You know, I wouldn't change a
- 11:38Speaker 1: hair on either one of my kids' heads, and I
- 11:40Speaker 1: know you wouldn't either, But this whole game of you know,
- 11:46Speaker 1: look at me, I am wonderful, my marriage is perfect,
- 11:51Speaker 1: my kids are gorgeous, and it's a I think it's
- 11:57Speaker 1: a setup, and I think it's a lie because you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: when was the last time you posted I don't know. Uh,
- 12:06Speaker 1: my kid got caught cheating in school today and he
- 12:09Speaker 1: has a three day you know, he has a three
- 12:11Speaker 1: day suspension. Go me like, it's not you know, we'll
- 12:14Speaker 1: skip right over that part. You know, there's a million
- 12:19Speaker 1: things that go on with your kids, with your husband,
- 12:23Speaker 1: with your significant other, with your friends.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Right. I mean evident I don't fight a lot, but
- 12:29Speaker 2: when we do have a fight, I'm certainly not putting
- 12:31Speaker 2: that shit on social media. Absolutely not right. Also, I think,
- 12:37Speaker 2: aside from people faking their social lives, marriages, and children,
- 12:43Speaker 2: like how perfect it is. The face tuning is out
- 12:47Speaker 2: of control. Oh my god, it's out of control. I
- 12:50Speaker 2: mean Chloe Kardashian last week face tuned her cat. Did
- 12:53Speaker 2: you see that?
- 12:54Speaker 4: She face tuned her fucking cat. The whiskers came off.
- 12:57Speaker 4: My cats are so ugly. There's not enough face tune
- 12:59Speaker 4: this old to make them look good. I love when
- 13:02Speaker 4: face tune actually comments on people's I never saw that.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Oh we're telling me about that, yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But she I mean like people don't even look the
- 13:12Speaker 2: way that they're that they're portrayed. I mean, and I'm
- 13:15Speaker 2: not talking a tweak, because we all tweak. I don't, yes, no,
- 13:19Speaker 2: I don't. I sweak. If I send to.
- 13:22Speaker 1: My PR people and they want to post something, they
- 13:26Speaker 1: look at it sometimes and they're like, whoa tweak this?
- 13:29Speaker 1: I personally don't know how to tweak, and I don't
- 13:32Speaker 1: want absolutely not. But I also feel like it's like
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm on TV. The gig is up, like you're gonna
- 13:42Speaker 1: see me. So I mean, what is the point of
- 13:45Speaker 1: pretending to be you know, smooth and uh and perfect
- 13:53Speaker 1: and because guess what in about what four months you're
- 13:57Speaker 1: gonna see I'm not wait, but.
- 13:59Speaker 2: So, so, how does it, like, do you find yourself
- 14:02Speaker 2: getting depressed? Ever?
- 14:04Speaker 1: I find myself getting depressed without social media, so yes,
- 14:07Speaker 1: But with social media yeah. And not only do I
- 14:10Speaker 1: get depressed, I get mad.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I get mad too. Can I tell you when I
- 14:13Speaker 2: first moved with this was going back fifteen years. But
- 14:15Speaker 2: when I first moved to my town, I really wanted
- 14:18Speaker 2: I came from the city and I had no friends
- 14:21Speaker 2: in my town, and I wanted a friend group, right,
- 14:24Speaker 2: And like, I made a few friends, and I didn't
- 14:28Speaker 2: definitely didn't have anyone super close and I did not
- 14:31Speaker 2: have a friend group. But there was this group of
- 14:34Speaker 2: moms and they would go every summer to the Hamptons
- 14:36Speaker 2: together for like a week, and I was always I
- 14:39Speaker 2: would watch what they did on social media, and I
- 14:42Speaker 2: would see all their good times and their dinners and
- 14:44Speaker 2: their parties and their late nights in the house, and
- 14:47Speaker 2: I was just I was angry that I wasn't a
- 14:50Speaker 2: part of it, even though I didn't even know them.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I was angry. I was sad for myself. I wanted it.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I was jealous. I mean all of that. It's very
- 14:58Speaker 2: different now for me, but god, I mean I just
- 15:01Speaker 2: couldn't stop watching these people. I didn't even know them.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I can watch people's posts and literally feel like
- 15:11Speaker 1: this anger bubbling up, and I it can be because
- 15:17Speaker 1: I think they are showing off. I think a lot
- 15:20Speaker 1: of it comes from, obviously my own insecurity. I can
- 15:24Speaker 1: see the way people that I know are representing themselves
- 15:27Speaker 1: and I don't feel like it's real. But why would
- 15:31Speaker 1: I give a shit? I don't know why, but I do.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I know I understand because it makes me. It annoys
- 15:36Speaker 2: me too, Like there's the one person in particular who's
- 15:39Speaker 2: always just posting the most egotistical shit, and I just
- 15:43Speaker 2: look at these posts and I'm like, God, get over yourself,
- 15:47Speaker 2: and that like it annoys me so ben, then I
- 15:49Speaker 2: have to be like, why are you annoyed? Let everyone
- 15:51Speaker 2: do that. Yeah, but guess what I post egotistically shit?
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yes I do. I don't post it. I'm not obvious.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I don't think I'm obvious about it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And I like to be self depreciate and I'm gonna
- 16:01Speaker 1: really work harder on showing some real some of my
- 16:04Speaker 1: like real life on social media.
- 16:08Speaker 2: But yes I do.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Look at me at this party, look at me at
- 16:13Speaker 1: this concert, look at me, and maybe there's nothing wrong
- 16:16Speaker 1: with it, but I think that when I watch others
- 16:18Speaker 1: do it, I start to compare and it's not healthy.
- 16:24Speaker 1: How about this, how about when it's there's someone's birthday,
- 16:31Speaker 1: it's not for me. And I'm on Instagram now way
- 16:33Speaker 1: more than I am on fa on Facebook. But for Facebook,
- 16:40Speaker 1: that is how I remember birthdays, right, Like you know
- 16:42Speaker 1: everybody's birthday, People that you went to kindergarten with, you
- 16:44Speaker 1: know their birthday. The birthday post is the biggest bummer.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I I cannot tell.
- 16:52Speaker 2: You how much I hate the birthday post. And well,
- 16:55Speaker 2: you know when people post for your birthday, No, I
- 16:57Speaker 2: love that.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm talking about like posts for everyone's birthday and you
- 17:02Speaker 1: know what, it's year in and it's year out. The
- 17:04Speaker 1: people I love, they absolutely know that I love them,
- 17:08Speaker 1: and I have to declare my love. And I have
- 17:11Speaker 1: to go back and find pictures from nineteen eighty three
- 17:16Speaker 1: and I and I have to make a call oph
- 17:18Speaker 1: I don't make the clauses anymore and profess my love
- 17:21Speaker 1: and tell them why I am over it. Like how
- 17:25Speaker 1: about just calling your friend, hi, baby, happy birthday, I
- 17:30Speaker 1: love you.
- 17:30Speaker 2: What are you doing today? Let's go to lunch. How
- 17:33Speaker 2: are you feeling?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Instead, it's now you have to do the most Jane Doe.
- 17:40Speaker 1: For twenty five years, I've loved you. You are so
- 17:43Speaker 1: individual and strong, you are my everything you are. It's
- 17:48Speaker 1: just so gaggy, Like I'm so tired of it, and
- 17:52Speaker 1: you do it because guess what on your birthday.
- 17:56Speaker 2: You want to hear about it? Yeah, well you want
- 17:58Speaker 2: declarations of love, life hack, going to your h your
- 18:01Speaker 2: albums and groll to the same day last year and
- 18:04Speaker 2: just repost that shit.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I have done that, but like it really to me,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I hope not to everyone, but like how many And
- 18:11Speaker 1: you're looking all day long it's your birthday. You're missing
- 18:13Speaker 1: your fucking birthday because you're looking. I know how Maybe
- 18:16Speaker 1: I commented how many people said, that's.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Favorite part of my birthday? Is social media? Really said yeah?
- 18:21Speaker 2: Because not only do I read into I don't like
- 18:23Speaker 2: my birthday. I'm one of those guys I hate my birthday,
- 18:27Speaker 2: but I read into like, if there's enough love given,
- 18:32Speaker 2: did you give me as much love as you gave
- 18:33Speaker 2: your other friends? Like I I look at who didn't
- 18:37Speaker 2: post for me? Like I just I hate the social
- 18:40Speaker 2: media of it all. But let's talk about being on
- 18:43Speaker 2: a reality show and the social media that comes along
- 18:46Speaker 2: with that, because that is a shit show, and I
- 18:49Speaker 2: will let me let me just put a disclaimer that
- 18:51Speaker 2: there's a lot of good things that can come from
- 18:53Speaker 2: social media, you know, the networking, the reconnecting, the being
- 18:58Speaker 2: able to share memories of your family, all of that
- 19:01Speaker 2: stuff is can be good.
- 19:03Speaker 1: To think about how much information, guys, I need a
- 19:07Speaker 1: p diatrist, right, like you know, I'm on like Upper
- 19:09Speaker 1: Side River Moms or even not like anybody you guys,
- 19:12Speaker 1: I need a little bit of your input on whatever
- 19:16Speaker 1: issue it is that I'm facing, and it is very
- 19:19Speaker 1: helpful and also can be so supportive and loving. Right,
- 19:22Speaker 1: But when you are on a reality show, what I have.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Found is that because you're on a show about your life,
- 19:31Speaker 2: social media feels free to dissect your life and comment
- 19:36Speaker 2: on your life, of course, of course, but in very
- 19:39Speaker 2: very cruel often, you know, just really mean horrible ways.
- 19:46Speaker 2: And not only individual people, but there's a whole network
- 19:52Speaker 2: of bloggers that just tear your life along and post
- 19:58Speaker 2: very sometimes not true things about you, and sometimes it
- 20:04Speaker 2: ends up in print, and sometimes the entire Internet is
- 20:07Speaker 2: reposting it and I will tell you there's you know,
- 20:11Speaker 2: being on a reality show is amazing sometimes, but those
- 20:15Speaker 2: moments when the whole internet is commenting on something about
- 20:19Speaker 2: your life in a negative way, there's nothing worse for me. Nothing.
- 20:25Speaker 1: When you sign up for a reality show, you know
- 20:29Speaker 1: you live in the world. You know that you're going
- 20:32Speaker 1: to get critiqued on social media at some point, right,
- 20:37Speaker 1: and so you know you signed on the dotted line.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Too bad for you. Well, the thing is that you
- 20:44Speaker 1: do know it, You've seen it happen. But there's a
- 20:48Speaker 1: little part, well at least there wasn't me that thought,
- 20:52Speaker 1: you know what, Nah, they're.
- 20:55Speaker 2: All going to like me.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Everybody's like, you sign up for it, and you think, well,
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'm not going to do anything that would make people
- 21:02Speaker 1: not like me.
- 21:02Speaker 2: You just have to breathe. I know, but you can't
- 21:04Speaker 2: do it. I mean the season that I had that
- 21:06Speaker 2: there was that whole rum where about Evan. The social
- 21:10Speaker 2: media was so bad with people weighing in and whether
- 21:13Speaker 2: or not my husband was cheating. I mean, my husband's
- 21:15Speaker 2: the best guy ever. I had no doubt even for
- 21:17Speaker 2: a second that it was nonsense. Like I couldn't stop
- 21:23Speaker 2: the like brage of comments and articles and blog posts
- 21:27Speaker 2: and YouTube videos and it was just NonStop every day,
- 21:32Speaker 2: and I was in such a black hole of like
- 21:36Speaker 2: I couldn't see straight from all the social media and
- 21:39Speaker 2: I didn't want to see it, but I couldn't stop
- 21:41Speaker 2: checking it. It was awful and a lot of times
- 21:45Speaker 2: the bloggers. There was one blogger I can think of
- 21:48Speaker 2: and I won't name any names, he went after me
- 21:51Speaker 2: for years, just crucified me, just hated me, and would
- 21:56Speaker 2: just say the meanest, most horrible thing me and I
- 22:01Speaker 2: just couldn't do anything about it. And sometimes I wonder,
- 22:04Speaker 2: like if they ever feel any regret when they're posting
- 22:09Speaker 2: negative shit online about you.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That I can't tell you. I think that that's part
- 22:16Speaker 1: of their job. It is to be shady. And guess what,
- 22:19Speaker 1: We're on a reality show and we're shady and we
- 22:21Speaker 1: say nasty things and for the public to consume. So
- 22:27Speaker 1: you know, it's just it's it's a different world with
- 22:30Speaker 1: social media. And again I signed on the dotted line,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and I knew what I was signing up for, and
- 22:37Speaker 1: I just we just you know, wrapped our second season.
- 22:40Speaker 1: So I did it again, and I'm expecting more negativity,
- 22:45Speaker 1: and you know, it's at any point nobody is holding
- 22:49Speaker 1: a gun to my head. I could say I've had enough,
- 22:51Speaker 1: but I've signed up.
- 22:52Speaker 2: For it again.
- 22:52Speaker 1: But I look at some of these reality stars that
- 22:55Speaker 1: have been doing it for so long, and they've gotten
- 22:57Speaker 1: so much eat and I wonder myself, like, how is
- 23:03Speaker 1: their skin so thick?
- 23:05Speaker 2: They don't care?
- 23:06Speaker 1: How is that possible they keep signing up again and again.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I don't know, but all of this has definitely taken
- 23:16Speaker 1: its toll on my mental health. I believe the life
- 23:21Speaker 1: the mental health of my family. I don't just mean
- 23:24Speaker 1: since I signed up for Housewives, I mean in general.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And we know this, you guys. This is not news
- 23:28Speaker 1: that social media is the devil, and yet I'm addicted.
- 23:32Speaker 1: There are parts of it I love. I'm part of
- 23:35Speaker 1: the problem, and I can't line say after we wrap
- 23:39Speaker 1: this podcast, I'm not.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Going to continue.
- 23:42Speaker 1: It's, you know, but again, first step admitting you have
- 23:46Speaker 1: a problem, you guys. So we have something very special today,
- 23:59Speaker 1: and I'm very special. So when we were talking about
- 24:03Speaker 1: the podcast, we were talking about what about getting uh,
- 24:09Speaker 1: getting some information and some opinion from the other side,
- 24:13Speaker 1: right from people that are interviewing celebrities, from people that
- 24:18Speaker 1: are writing stories, writing stories from right, people who are
- 24:23Speaker 1: on red carpets and have to ask questions that are uncomfortable.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And when you know, we were thinking of people that
- 24:31Speaker 1: we would want to join us, there are these two
- 24:34Speaker 1: people who are in my mind that I know, Jack
- 24:37Speaker 1: and yours. They are the gold standard. And they are
- 24:40Speaker 1: the gold standard because I don't know and I don't
- 24:44Speaker 1: know how they pull it off. They bring up sensitive topics,
- 24:48Speaker 1: they bring up gossip, they bring up drama, and yet
- 24:54Speaker 1: they do it in a way that is respectful. I've
- 24:58Speaker 1: never seen them be anything but respectful and kind. And
- 25:00Speaker 1: I doesn't know anybody who doesn't love them. I don't
- 25:03Speaker 1: know anybody who doesn't love them.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And the kicker is they're part of Page six, which
- 25:08Speaker 2: is very very big, which is not, you know, historically
- 25:13Speaker 2: a news site that everyone loves.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Right, So as we were like trying to figure out
- 25:20Speaker 1: who we'd want to bring on, we thought, what a fabulous,
- 25:25Speaker 1: what a fabulous way to talk to two men and
- 25:30Speaker 1: to find out how they do what they do, which
- 25:33Speaker 1: cannot be easy, and how they do it in such
- 25:36Speaker 1: a glorious way.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Yeah, but also if it affects them like if they
- 25:39Speaker 2: ever ask them some questions. So let's bring them in.
- 25:43Speaker 2: We have Evan Reel and Danny Murphy from page six.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Hang on, let's bring them in.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Oh hi, hi girl, Hi guy.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Guys. This is such an honor and such a pleasure.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Oh my god, They're so honored and we're so excited
- 26:03Speaker 3: to chat with you. Guys. We miss you.
- 26:05Speaker 1: We miss you too. And guess what, we're going to
- 26:08Speaker 1: turn the tables.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I gonna flip any tables, but we are turning them. Yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 2: we've got some questions, are you guys?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Wait?
- 26:16Speaker 2: So can we start by telling us exactly what you
- 26:18Speaker 2: guys do?
- 26:19Speaker 3: Okay? So Danny and I are the hosts of Virtual
- 26:23Speaker 3: Reality A podcasts at page six. It's all Housewives, all Bravo,
- 26:27Speaker 3: all reality TV, all the time. And then I'm also
- 26:31Speaker 3: a senior TV reporter and Danny is a senior social
- 26:36Speaker 3: media editor. I got that right correct, Yes.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I've senior editors.
- 26:39Speaker 6: So I oversee a lot of the page six Social
- 26:40Speaker 6: strategy and everything over there are going on across all
- 26:43Speaker 6: the platforms, So we like to keep a little bit.
- 26:45Speaker 5: Busy over here.
- 26:46Speaker 1: You guys, I know that anybody listening if you follow
- 26:51Speaker 1: you know any hot topics or pop culture. You know
- 26:55Speaker 1: these guys anyway, they really don't need an introduction because
- 26:57Speaker 1: they're everywhere. They're on every at carpets, there on every
- 27:02Speaker 1: Internet page.
- 27:04Speaker 2: They are.
- 27:05Speaker 1: It just they are sort of like the heart and
- 27:07Speaker 1: soul of talking to well for us Bravo celebrities, but
- 27:11Speaker 1: more than that.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Yeah, all the reality shows.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so you guys, we want to ask you some questions.
- 27:17Speaker 1: We'd like some insight. It can't be easy to do
- 27:19Speaker 1: what you do. So first of all, before you started
- 27:26Speaker 1: working with Page six, were you guys big into pop culture?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Were you following social media gossip columns? Was that something
- 27:36Speaker 1: that you were passionate about.
- 27:37Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 27:38Speaker 6: For me, growing up, I feel like the time I
- 27:41Speaker 6: was just like going like growing up high school, college.
- 27:45Speaker 6: It's where like internet and blogs are really like just booming,
- 27:48Speaker 6: and they were kind of like a fun new way
- 27:50Speaker 6: to be engaged with what you.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Like to watch on TV or the interests you have.
- 27:54Speaker 6: Because when the internet's great, it's like you can have
- 27:58Speaker 6: common interests with people that you don't see every day,
- 28:01Speaker 6: but you can like start to build relationships that way.
- 28:03Speaker 6: So it's like really fun where you start to find
- 28:05Speaker 6: like little like fangroups and stuff like that. Of course
- 28:07Speaker 6: we now know sometimes those can get they have pluses
- 28:10Speaker 6: and minuses, But I feel I just really gravitate to
- 28:14Speaker 6: being such an online person who loved just like keep
- 28:16Speaker 6: up with everything and just really always like to like
- 28:19Speaker 6: learn more and know more about pop culture because for
- 28:22Speaker 6: a while it wasn't really seen as like a very
- 28:25Speaker 6: legitimate thing to want to like focus in or talk about.
- 28:28Speaker 6: But it kind of has changed into being more of that,
- 28:30Speaker 6: which has been great.
- 28:31Speaker 1: You guys are younger, that's certainly to me, the three
- 28:34Speaker 1: of you. But we used to call it water cooler talk.
- 28:36Speaker 1: That's when people actually went into the office. Now everybody's virtual,
- 28:40Speaker 1: but it meant that, like Monday morning, everybody would gather
- 28:42Speaker 1: around the water cooler and talk about either it was
- 28:45Speaker 1: some show or it was, you know, the latest gossip.
- 28:48Speaker 1: But nobody needs a water cooler anymore.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yeah, right, Evan. How about you?
- 28:53Speaker 3: So I'm a little bit older than Danny, and I
- 28:57Speaker 3: feel like those extra three years kind of made a
- 29:00Speaker 3: difference because I became interested in pop culture and entertainment news,
- 29:05Speaker 3: like like when my mom was like still picking up
- 29:07Speaker 3: like in touch and people in the grocery store and
- 29:10Speaker 3: like my whole thing, like my my number one pride
- 29:13Speaker 3: and passion is Britney Spears. So I was very much
- 29:17Speaker 3: into the whole like two thousand and seven, Britney Paris
- 29:19Speaker 3: Lindsay tmz X seventeen, like that whole thing, and I
- 29:22Speaker 3: was like, that is what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna
- 29:24Speaker 3: do celebrity news and I'm going to talk about Brittany
- 29:26Speaker 3: all day every day, which I do in my free time.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But when I started interning at Okay magazine like ages ago,
- 29:33Speaker 3: I get there and I start and they're like, hey,
- 29:36Speaker 3: can you like just like do some research about teen
- 29:39Speaker 3: Mom And I'm like, teen mom, teen mom.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Like girl by I was like, this is how bitch. Yeah.
- 29:50Speaker 3: I was like, this is not what I signed up for.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Cut too. I became like a massive obsessive teen Mom fan.
- 29:56Speaker 3: And I had been into the Real Housewives when it
- 29:58Speaker 3: first came out in like two thousand and six, so
- 30:01Speaker 3: then it was weird they like they loved teen Moms,
- 30:04Speaker 3: like the cover for like twelve covers in a row
- 30:06Speaker 3: when I first started, and then I remember our first
- 30:09Speaker 3: Housewives cover was like a Kyle and Kim cover and
- 30:12Speaker 3: then that did really well for Okay magazine, and then
- 30:14Speaker 3: all the weekly is started to cover the housewives at nauseum,
- 30:18Speaker 3: which I was all about. I was like, finally you
- 30:20Speaker 3: guys have tapped into real houses. And then the internet
- 30:23Speaker 3: became a thing when as Danny was born. Yeah, when
- 30:30Speaker 3: showing off, It's been really cool to see how just
- 30:35Speaker 3: the franchise and the Bravo world has exploded on that.
- 30:40Speaker 3: You know, now these like pop culture Instagram pages are
- 30:43Speaker 3: They're like legit news outlets. I'm like, oh my god, yeah,
- 30:46Speaker 3: cocktails have it? I better look into it, right.
- 30:49Speaker 5: Crazy Bravos on the Pulse.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Yeah, day, do you ever struggle with an assignment? You
- 30:56Speaker 1: guys have a job to do. I mean, this is
- 30:58Speaker 1: what pays the rant or the more or get you
- 31:00Speaker 1: whatever it is. So you have a job to do.
- 31:02Speaker 1: And I'm assuming you both have bosses and people to
- 31:04Speaker 1: answer to. So do you ever cringe.
- 31:08Speaker 2: And you know or feel bad? I don't want to
- 31:12Speaker 2: do that. I don't want to ask them that.
- 31:15Speaker 6: It's funny when you say like bosses because I feel
- 31:18Speaker 6: so many times and you guys probably now know this
- 31:20Speaker 6: from doing your own podcast and just being public figures
- 31:25Speaker 6: yourself whenever you post me like I feel so many times,
- 31:27Speaker 6: the bosses are the listeners and the audience and the viewers.
- 31:30Speaker 2: A lot of that's interesting. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 31:34Speaker 6: I just had a I don't know, Lindsey Hubbard from Summerhouse.
- 31:37Speaker 6: I was just chatting with her, and of course she
- 31:40Speaker 6: had a very public engagement to disengagement, a lot of
- 31:44Speaker 6: stuff that she's been saying, her ex Carl has been saying,
- 31:47Speaker 6: and just people have been saying about it. And she
- 31:50Speaker 6: was coming in because the new season of Summerhouse is
- 31:51Speaker 6: coming out, She's obviously obligated to promote that season, and
- 31:55Speaker 6: we're like having a fun chat about, you know, like
- 31:58Speaker 6: how she's been and everything like that. But then I'm like,
- 32:00Speaker 6: I know, and because I'm curious how she's doing. But
- 32:03Speaker 6: also I know that if anybody watches or listens to this,
- 32:07Speaker 6: and like I don't bring up that she separated, they'd
- 32:10Speaker 6: be like, well, what are you even doing here? Why
- 32:13Speaker 6: are you wasting our time? Because they're curious about that
- 32:16Speaker 6: because it is like a major thing that's going on.
- 32:18Speaker 6: And then what I like about it too is that
- 32:21Speaker 6: it gives I know, Lindsay sitting with me, I want
- 32:25Speaker 6: her to be able to say whatever she wants to
- 32:29Speaker 6: say her piece, Like if I can pick up if
- 32:31Speaker 6: she's like I'm doing well, she don't want to talk
- 32:33Speaker 6: about I'm not going to.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Be like, well, what does well mean?
- 32:35Speaker 6: It's like I like to follow the vibe, but I
- 32:37Speaker 6: want to make sure I at least try to do
- 32:40Speaker 6: my part to give her a chance to or anybody
- 32:42Speaker 6: a chance to talk about what they want to talk about,
- 32:43Speaker 6: while also giving the people.
- 32:44Speaker 1: You guys are so good at that. Yeah, like Kelly
- 32:47Speaker 1: Roland recently, like she is, she did not want to
- 32:50Speaker 1: talk about Beyonce on the Today Show, right, and whatever
- 32:55Speaker 1: happened after that? But I get that, right, it's like
- 33:00Speaker 1: my own stuff to talk about.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Well, but you have to ask so for you, its like,
- 33:04Speaker 2: have you ever done a story or interviewed somebody and
- 33:09Speaker 2: the reaction was really negative to that person? Have you
- 33:12Speaker 2: ever like does that affect you? Do you feel bad?
- 33:16Speaker 3: That is a really good question because it does affect me.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Like I am paying attention to the reactions and responses
- 33:25Speaker 3: to my interviews because I'm like, I'm personally interested if
- 33:28Speaker 3: this story resonated with the audience, and I will say,
- 33:34Speaker 3: like it was it was kind of tough interviewing Brandy
- 33:37Speaker 3: Glamville last fall about the fallout with Caroline Manzo, because yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 3: Caroline Manzo is someone who's done our live shows, and
- 33:46Speaker 3: Caroline Manzo has made some pretty intense claims against Brandy,
- 33:53Speaker 3: and obviously, like sexual assault is like such a serious issue,
- 33:57Speaker 3: So it was like kind of tough knowing how Caroline
- 34:02Speaker 3: feels and the accusations she's made, while also sort of
- 34:05Speaker 3: creating space for Brandy to share her side of the
- 34:09Speaker 3: story because they both feel like victims in the situation,
- 34:12Speaker 3: and the fandom is very polarized with people either supporting
- 34:17Speaker 3: Brandy or people supporting Caroline. And I think that, you know,
- 34:20Speaker 3: both sides make pretty valid arguments, but it was like
- 34:24Speaker 3: a tough place to be in the middle because the
- 34:27Speaker 3: accusations against Brandy, which we don't know if they're true
- 34:30Speaker 3: or not. She claims this Caroline claims us like they're
- 34:33Speaker 3: pretty sordid and not cool. It was just it was
- 34:37Speaker 3: I left that interview feeling or not not the interview.
- 34:40Speaker 3: I had a nice chat with Brandy, I left that
- 34:42Speaker 3: whole experience feeling just a little uneasy and uncomfortably.
- 34:47Speaker 1: To you, man, that cannot that has to be so
- 34:50Speaker 1: hard and what about if you think Danny wants to
- 34:52Speaker 1: add something.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Yes, I was gonna say. That's also the hard thing
- 34:55Speaker 6: that it comes across because a lot of times, of course,
- 34:57Speaker 6: when you're talking like the pop culture space, some of
- 34:59Speaker 6: it it's like very fun or like can be silly,
- 35:03Speaker 6: like for like Ronny lat Season when it's like, oh
- 35:04Speaker 6: my god, she's gay, and like they're fighting over parmesan
- 35:06Speaker 6: and like that's start Genifester yourself shoving mazzarel in your face.
- 35:10Speaker 6: Like you have those like really fun moments you can
- 35:14Speaker 6: go on. But then a lot of times, not always
- 35:16Speaker 6: to the extremeness of braind and Carolyn, but then you
- 35:18Speaker 6: have people that are dealing with things where it's like
- 35:21Speaker 6: a long term friendship fallout, a divorce, people like losing
- 35:26Speaker 6: the money help things where it is more of a
- 35:29Speaker 6: delicate dance to have that conversation. And also it's a
- 35:32Speaker 6: hard thing too where you hope people it doesn't always happen,
- 35:35Speaker 6: but you hope people interpret it and digest it with
- 35:39Speaker 6: a little more severity than the lighter stuff. But that's
- 35:42Speaker 6: where also when people consume things, they don't really have
- 35:45Speaker 6: all the different levels of consumption too.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 35:48Speaker 1: When I was at Bravo Con, one of somebody who
- 35:52Speaker 1: runs a page that is very popular and folks on
- 35:55Speaker 1: Bravo and Housewives was sharing with me that he was
- 36:00Speaker 1: really nervous because one of the women from one of
- 36:04Speaker 1: the franchises, they were at a table close to where
- 36:08Speaker 1: we were sitting. They already approached him. They had already
- 36:11Speaker 1: given him shit. They were pissed at whatever he had
- 36:15Speaker 1: talked about. So and he's there and he asked to
- 36:19Speaker 1: face them now again, you two. I have no idea
- 36:23Speaker 1: how you pull it off, but as I can't imagine
- 36:26Speaker 1: anyone would have ever been upset with you guys over
- 36:30Speaker 1: you know, something you said or the way that you
- 36:32Speaker 1: treated him. I mean, Evan, did you ever have anybody
- 36:35Speaker 1: that came at you?
- 36:36Speaker 3: I mean, uh, come at me. I don't know if
- 36:40Speaker 3: I would classify it that way, but it is like
- 36:43Speaker 3: a really difficult dance because the thing is like I
- 36:47Speaker 3: feel like whenever Danny and I talked to someone or
- 36:49Speaker 3: have them on the podcast or talk to them on
- 36:51Speaker 3: a carpet, like we are giving them the space to
- 36:53Speaker 3: be the queen, Like we hand them the scepter and
- 36:55Speaker 3: the tr and we're like, this is your space, queen,
- 36:57Speaker 3: do your thing. I will say one thing that an
- 37:01Speaker 3: interesting incident that happened was we had Sutton do our
- 37:05Speaker 3: live show in September and she made a joke about
- 37:08Speaker 3: Erica Jane's ticket sales. Now months prior, I participated in
- 37:13Speaker 3: Erica Jane's bed at All on Blonde press Day and
- 37:17Speaker 3: we did this whole like wonderful interview at the Live
- 37:20Speaker 3: Nation headquarters and I told her how like I found
- 37:22Speaker 3: myself a fake ID when I was eighteen years old
- 37:25Speaker 3: to see her open for Kim Zolciak at a gay
- 37:27Speaker 3: club before any Bravo fan knew who she was.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Wow, Wow, she knows.
- 37:32Speaker 3: I am like an OG fan and I have spent time, money,
- 37:35Speaker 3: and dedication to see her performed live, like I really
- 37:37Speaker 3: am a fan of her music. But Sutton made fun
- 37:40Speaker 3: of her music after the fact, or made fun of
- 37:43Speaker 3: her residency ticket sales after the fact at our live show.
- 37:46Speaker 3: And then we saw Erica on the carpet up Bravo
- 37:49Speaker 3: Con and she didn't just like skip us, she like
- 37:54Speaker 3: stumped past us, and I just I connected it there.
- 37:57Speaker 3: I was like, okay, you're.
- 37:58Speaker 6: Mad at us giving She's so glamorous. It was such
- 38:01Speaker 6: a good like she almost dance pies.
- 38:10Speaker 5: She's a great house one.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Did you guys talk about it? Like why were you like, well,
- 38:15Speaker 1: hello and goodbye Erica Jane.
- 38:18Speaker 3: We didn't really acknowledge it. I didn't want to. I
- 38:20Speaker 3: didn't want to believe that it was really happening. But
- 38:22Speaker 3: then I like we processed it later and I'm like,
- 38:24Speaker 3: oh my god, she's totally mad about the Sutton situation.
- 38:28Speaker 3: And it's like that's a tough thing too, because like
- 38:30Speaker 3: obviously without naming names, like Danny and I have our
- 38:33Speaker 3: favorites and we have our strong relationships and we have
- 38:35Speaker 3: the girls, like I mean, we will name you guys,
- 38:40Speaker 3: like we love you guys so much.
- 38:42Speaker 2: But then like you're on our show, you better.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Then like you have your favorites, and then you talk
- 38:48Speaker 3: to their mortal enemies and then you're kind of like
- 38:50Speaker 3: wondering like, oh my god, like what are they going
- 38:54Speaker 3: to think of? You know what I mean. So it's
- 38:56Speaker 3: it's like interesting, like for instance, like you Jackie, like
- 38:58Speaker 3: we were so excited to see you on the carpet
- 39:00Speaker 3: I bravokhon and then Margaret Joseph's come by and we
- 39:02Speaker 3: have to talk to her but I feel like what
- 39:05Speaker 3: I will say about you and Margaret is you both
- 39:07Speaker 3: do a really good job of like not letting that
- 39:11Speaker 3: impact your relationship with like press, which I find.
- 39:15Speaker 2: So No, I don't even really I mean, I would
- 39:19Speaker 2: never hold it against like she did an interview at
- 39:21Speaker 2: the People's Choice Awards the other day. She said some
- 39:23Speaker 2: nonsense about how I've changed, and I'm not the person
- 39:26Speaker 2: that she thought. I like, it's all nonsense, and I
- 39:29Speaker 2: don't even get a chance to respond to it. But
- 39:31Speaker 2: I don't pay attention to like who she's saying it to.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I only know what she's saying. I mean, I pay attention,
- 39:37Speaker 2: but I'm not holding it against of course the person
- 39:39Speaker 2: that she's saying that nonsense too, which, by the way,
- 39:43Speaker 2: I will do.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll say, we'll say yes, I have not We're
- 39:52Speaker 1: not going there today anyway.
- 39:55Speaker 2: So Danny, what is just tell us like one Rose
- 40:00Speaker 2: and Thorn.
- 40:03Speaker 6: I feel the Rose is definitely me and Evan love
- 40:07Speaker 6: getting the chance to talk to all of like women
- 40:10Speaker 6: like you and guys from Brava where it's just these
- 40:12Speaker 6: like really fun layered, complex people and getting to show
- 40:16Speaker 6: we always hope that we can show the people who
- 40:20Speaker 6: listen or read the interviews we do the side of that,
- 40:24Speaker 6: like the true person behind the person they see on TV,
- 40:28Speaker 6: you know what I mean, to let them know it's
- 40:30Speaker 6: like you and Colm, obviously we're gonna ask you or
- 40:32Speaker 6: ask anybody about the drama going on in the season
- 40:36Speaker 6: because or the show that they're on, because that's like
- 40:38Speaker 6: what I'm sure also they want to talk about because
- 40:40Speaker 6: it shows that it's like the real life things and
- 40:43Speaker 6: just getting to know everybody a little bit better. So
- 40:45Speaker 6: that's definitely the rose and the thorn I feel like,
- 40:48Speaker 6: and it does happen where I'm sure it even happens
- 40:51Speaker 6: for you guys too, where it's like I have to
- 40:52Speaker 6: go to dinner and now dinner is work. Where it's
- 40:53Speaker 6: like watching these shows are fun, but having to watch
- 40:57Speaker 6: them like from a work point of you, because I
- 41:00Speaker 6: can never just housewives and just now and shehlle and
- 41:04Speaker 6: have a great time like so many people love to
- 41:05Speaker 6: watch it, right, Okay, watching it almost like having to
- 41:08Speaker 6: take like little bits of notes here and there'll be like, oh,
- 41:10Speaker 6: what's going on, what's happening? And like and also getting
- 41:13Speaker 6: in a way where like when people are fighting, I'm like, oh,
- 41:15Speaker 6: but I love them. Yeah, something like that. So there's
- 41:18Speaker 6: like ups and downs for everything.
- 41:19Speaker 1: To So Evan, do you have you experienced any vitriol
- 41:33Speaker 1: and social media like personally and it doesn't have to
- 41:37Speaker 1: be you know, due to what you do, but have you,
- 41:41Speaker 1: like as an adult male, does it affect you the
- 41:43Speaker 1: way that affects us? Because we were just having a
- 41:45Speaker 1: whole conversation about like about the dark you know, the
- 41:49Speaker 1: the holes that we go down where we watch other
- 41:53Speaker 1: people's lives and we're seeing who's going out without us
- 41:56Speaker 1: or you know, how perfect people's lives look.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Does it affect you, guys the way does like a
- 42:00Speaker 2: middle aged woman, oh hunch of percent.
- 42:03Speaker 3: I mean I maybe it affects me even more like
- 42:07Speaker 3: I I yeah, it's social media can definitely be like
- 42:10Speaker 3: a very toxic place, and when you find yourself in
- 42:13Speaker 3: a hole, it can be hard to yeah, all out
- 42:16Speaker 3: of it. But like in terms of like work stuff,
- 42:18Speaker 3: it's tough when like you interview someone and then like
- 42:23Speaker 3: they accuse who you interview of like paying page six
- 42:27Speaker 3: to like spin this narrative or whatever. Like it's just
- 42:31Speaker 3: like that's so like certain fandoms will come for me
- 42:35Speaker 3: and tweet at me and it's just like guys, like
- 42:37Speaker 3: I'm just doing my job. It's like not that serious.
- 42:40Speaker 3: These conspiracy theories, like they're not real. No one's paying anyone,
- 42:43Speaker 3: there's like no hidden agenda whatsoever. But then of course,
- 42:47Speaker 3: like we don't really I feel like I don't really
- 42:49Speaker 3: get a lot of like the like hate that you
- 42:52Speaker 3: know a reality star would get in terms of like
- 42:54Speaker 3: looks and like that whole thing. Right.
- 43:00Speaker 6: Literally, even just did this really fun video with canvas
- 43:02Speaker 6: from Potomac and he was like, I was like, oh
- 43:05Speaker 6: my god, this looks so good. You look great. It
- 43:06Speaker 6: was so fun. He's like, but this pimple. I was like,
- 43:08Speaker 6: I watched you for seventeen minutes. I didn't see a
- 43:11Speaker 6: fucking pimple ruined the video.
- 43:14Speaker 5: I'm like, no, it didn't.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Wait ahead, I have a question a little bit off topic,
- 43:18Speaker 2: So in terms of like comparing our lives to other
- 43:21Speaker 2: people's in the housewives the world, it's very easy to
- 43:24Speaker 2: get lost in doing that. The New Rony, why are
- 43:28Speaker 2: they getting every fucking opportunity under the sun. I mean,
- 43:33Speaker 2: like they are brand new, and like I'm happy for them,
- 43:37Speaker 2: but like they Jackie for a while and now it's
- 43:40Speaker 2: not killing me. I'm just very curious, like they are
- 43:44Speaker 2: at every exclusively. Yeah, they are hosting the Oscars this year.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I mean like not really, but like they are getting
- 43:50Speaker 2: everything what is going on.
- 43:53Speaker 3: It's funny you say that, Jackie, because I actually had
- 43:56Speaker 3: a very similar thought the other day. I was like, wow,
- 43:58Speaker 3: like these girls like they're killing it. Like Jessel was
- 44:01Speaker 3: on the cover.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Of Rolling Stone. Oh oh, Jessel was on the cover
- 44:06Speaker 2: of Interviews. She was in Rolling Stone magazine. I mean, like,
- 44:08Speaker 2: I'm lucky if I get into like us online.
- 44:12Speaker 3: If I were to guess, I think unfortunately, because like
- 44:15Speaker 3: we live in a bit of an age of society.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I think it's because they're younger. I think they're they're
- 44:21Speaker 3: New York City. New York City is seen as like
- 44:25Speaker 3: very like aspirational and stylish, so it's like young aspirational fashion.
- 44:30Speaker 3: I think that's why they're getting I mean, I think that's.
- 44:33Speaker 2: So you're saying the old chicks from Jersey should not
- 44:35Speaker 2: hold their breath.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I'm just saying unfortunately, Like, yeah, I think if I
- 44:41Speaker 3: had to like pint it on anything, it would be
- 44:43Speaker 3: like a little bit of like agism and the fact
- 44:46Speaker 3: that they are like younger and they're just like shiny
- 44:49Speaker 3: new toys in a way, not saying taking it away
- 44:52Speaker 3: from them. I want to see Jessela and Brynn on
- 44:55Speaker 3: everything and everywhere. I'm just saying I think that's probably
- 44:58Speaker 3: like where it's rooted.
- 45:00Speaker 5: I think that's in New York.
- 45:01Speaker 6: Everyone is just always like you hear, like New York,
- 45:04Speaker 6: New York. God, you just instantly where it's like. And
- 45:07Speaker 6: they probably every event is in the city where I'm
- 45:09Speaker 6: sure it's the first people where they're like, I've done then,
- 45:12Speaker 6: but you're like, no, I.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Mean, I'm happy for them.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Listen though, I mean I look at like Teresa, who
- 45:21Speaker 1: is just on Name that Tune last night. I mean
- 45:24Speaker 1: she's Teresa is a one. Yeah, she is everywhere Jimmy Fallon.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I mean, she's been doing this for fifteen years. Correct.
- 45:33Speaker 1: But I'm saying these are these girls are shiny and new.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Teresa is iconic, right, So I think there's probably somewhere
- 45:43Speaker 1: there's it's going to happen that these girls are not
- 45:46Speaker 1: so shiny and not so new, and we'll see who
- 45:50Speaker 1: becomes iconic, you know, I think a Lisa vander Pomp
- 45:58Speaker 1: for instance, or a who are the icons the ogs Meani,
- 46:03Speaker 1: they're always gonna get Starne.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So so you know, I just want
- 46:10Speaker 2: to know, Like, I know what you're gonna ask. No,
- 46:14Speaker 2: go ahead, what am I gonna ask? Who's your favorite
- 46:16Speaker 2: friend of a housewife? It's always jenfessor everybody stuff. It's cheeky,
- 46:25Speaker 2: it's an idea, Okay, can I ask you this? Don't
- 46:28Speaker 2: you think that the friend role has been completely redefined.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I think there are some of the most iconic people
- 46:33Speaker 2: on I'm not talking about me and Jen, but I'm
- 46:34Speaker 2: talking like, no, I have no idea. Sometimes people will
- 46:37Speaker 2: to I have no idea, who's a friend, who's a housewife?
- 46:40Speaker 2: Who's not? Like I didn't even know that Marisol was
- 46:43Speaker 2: a friend of until this year.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Well it's interesting to say that because I just had
- 46:47Speaker 3: a breakfast with Julia from Miami this morning and we
- 46:50Speaker 3: were talking about that. I was like, when are Adriana
- 46:53Speaker 3: and Marisol and Kiki gonna get mohitos? Because they film
- 46:56Speaker 3: like they are full time, and you know, last season,
- 46:59Speaker 3: like I felt like you guys both interacted and participated
- 47:02Speaker 3: as if you were full time too. So I think
- 47:03Speaker 3: that the friend role is definitely expanding. I also think
- 47:08Speaker 3: that it's becoming more important to each franchise. It's actually
- 47:12Speaker 3: kind of like a nice sweet spot for people. And
- 47:13Speaker 3: I'm sure you guys have experiences like you're involved, but
- 47:17Speaker 3: you're not like too involved, like you can be drama
- 47:20Speaker 3: but like yes, like cameras inside your house really, so
- 47:23Speaker 3: it's like, I don't know, it's kind of like the
- 47:25Speaker 3: best of both worlds.
- 47:26Speaker 5: In mine.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Told me that she was like, I prefer like being
- 47:30Speaker 3: a friend. I prefer like dipping out, and like it's
- 47:34Speaker 3: kind of like in a way up to you guys
- 47:36Speaker 3: what you show, right, and is that kind you know?
- 47:40Speaker 2: It definitely is. They don't come to this season. I
- 47:46Speaker 2: got dragged into so much nonsense.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I don't mean but I don't mean interactions with other housewives.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I mean the coming into your home taking a look
- 47:54Speaker 1: at what's going which.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Because you know, Evan and my kids needed a yeah,
- 48:01Speaker 2: you know, four teenagers, they wanted their own space.
- 48:03Speaker 5: And I feel that's what Marioso says.
- 48:05Speaker 6: She loves the friend of world because she's like, I
- 48:07Speaker 6: don't want to like bring everything into She's like, I
- 48:09Speaker 6: like to go have her cockies have a great look
- 48:12Speaker 6: amazing and then had out.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yes, did you guys pick up on. By the way,
- 48:16Speaker 1: we're completely off of social media, but I'm done with that,
- 48:18Speaker 1: so anyway, but did you guys, Now I just want
- 48:20Speaker 1: a gossip, So anyway, did you guys pick up though?
- 48:23Speaker 1: On the finale? It was the finale last night of Miami,
- 48:26Speaker 1: and you know they usually do at the end.
- 48:28Speaker 2: But don't ruin anything for anyone, because not everything at all.
- 48:31Speaker 5: How they did the friend of like wrap ups first
- 48:33Speaker 5: and then everybody else.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Yeah, they never do the friend of wrap ups, right, guys,
- 48:38Speaker 1: they do. They're the friend of Nobody gives two shits
- 48:40Speaker 1: what they're doing at the end, but they always do.
- 48:43Speaker 1: You know, Oh, they did a friend of wrap up.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they were like, I won't give it anyway.
- 48:48Speaker 1: But Adriana they do the you know, she freezes and
- 48:52Speaker 1: then now Adriana is uh dating Amelio Estevez and or whatever.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I'm just teasing, but you know they tell what happens
- 49:02Speaker 1: sort of after that, and they did it for the friends.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I wonder if the other franchises will follow suit,
- 49:09Speaker 3: because I mean I personally loved it. Also, they did
- 49:13Speaker 3: the finale at Adriana's event, so like, right, the fact
- 49:17Speaker 3: that they like leaned on a friend to right finally,
- 49:20Speaker 3: I mean says something. And I know that obviously Jersey
- 49:24Speaker 3: and Miami have a different production company behind That's why
- 49:27Speaker 3: they're doing things a little bit differently. But like, I
- 49:29Speaker 3: would love if they would highlight the stories of friends
- 49:33Speaker 3: of on every franchise because obviously there's iconic friends of
- 49:36Speaker 3: on New Jersey, but like even Atlanta has historically had
- 49:39Speaker 3: like amazing friends like marlow for so yes, yes, I
- 49:43Speaker 3: don't know the give the friends of the great their light.
- 49:47Speaker 1: So when Danny and Evan and I were in con
- 49:51Speaker 1: and I know people say, can's con I'm never going
- 49:53Speaker 1: to get it right, one of the best days of
- 49:55Speaker 1: my life.
- 49:55Speaker 2: But whatever.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Having said that, we came up with the idea that
- 49:59Speaker 1: there she be an ultimate friends trip.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I would love that.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I mean, calm on, I want you to picture that.
- 50:05Speaker 1: It's like how many friend well, Marlowe became a housewife, right,
- 50:09Speaker 1: I mean, there's a.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Lot of housewives that were friends first then, I mean
- 50:13Speaker 2: was a friend first. No one even remembers that she
- 50:15Speaker 2: was a friend her first season, and it's so sad, right,
- 50:17Speaker 2: Like there's a lot that blurred the line. So I
- 50:19Speaker 2: think if you were ever a friend. Yes, Perfect Perfect.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Was a friend for a season and has a scripted
- 50:30Speaker 3: development deal with NBC. So like, yes, you never know
- 50:36Speaker 3: amazing friends, But I do think that a friend of
- 50:39Speaker 3: a girl's trip would.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Be amazing if you put the right people.
- 50:43Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Jersey, I feel like, thank you put Marisol.
- 50:48Speaker 3: I know she already did it with a Lea, but
- 50:49Speaker 3: Marisol and Adriana together on a girl Yes, Kiki, that'd
- 50:56Speaker 3: be love. They probably would need Kiki so that they
- 50:59Speaker 3: don't whether it's.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Oh Taylor Taylor, I'm strong, she's a party. I like, yeah, tailor. Okay,
- 51:07Speaker 2: So here's my question, and you don't have to answer
- 51:09Speaker 2: if you don't want to, but I would love for
- 51:10Speaker 2: you to answer. Going back to social media, which Bravo
- 51:14Speaker 2: star face tunes herself the most.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Shd Okay, let's see it.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Could be a past one. I mean taking Patti Sanger
- 51:26Speaker 2: out of it because it's just out of control. She
- 51:28Speaker 2: doesn't even cow she's in the strongsphere.
- 51:30Speaker 3: You know what's so crazy about Patti Sanger is like
- 51:32Speaker 3: I have seen her in real life like she does.
- 51:34Speaker 2: She's a beautiful woman, but she does not need.
- 51:37Speaker 3: All of that face tune. Patty out of the equation.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I don't know who comes to mind, Danny.
- 51:44Speaker 6: Every person I know who face tunes so much is
- 51:48Speaker 6: like what we were saying, like gorgeous in real life
- 51:51Speaker 6: to the point where I'm like, I would I would
- 51:52Speaker 6: face to myself to look like you. I would say, hold.
- 51:57Speaker 6: Most seems to be Lisa Hawksne from Miami, and I
- 52:02Speaker 6: said that, yeah, he comes into paid sex stunning in
- 52:07Speaker 6: like the mooglair body suits, high heels, bag her hot
- 52:12Speaker 6: new boyfriend with her in toe. So I'm like, what
- 52:14Speaker 6: are you face, I'm.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Like you, I would, well, like Lisa is out of control,
- 52:20Speaker 3: and also because I call her face tuning out of
- 52:24Speaker 3: control because like Danny said, like she is a stunning
- 52:26Speaker 3: person in real life and then on Instagram she looks
- 52:29Speaker 3: like an AI character.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, she does cartoon.
- 52:34Speaker 3: It's crazy because she really is the girl. And even
- 52:37Speaker 3: like in the in the trailer or the teaser for
- 52:40Speaker 3: the Miami reunion. I don't know if she's gotten something
- 52:44Speaker 3: done recently, but she looks especially refreshed and beautiful.
- 52:48Speaker 1: And she looks at one of those blow up dolls
- 52:50Speaker 1: you order, Well, I don't. I don't order them.
- 52:54Speaker 6: Maybe I do sex episode face turning? Who from the
- 52:59Speaker 6: Jersey cast do you think facetunes the most?
- 53:01Speaker 2: We can't do that. We're going to get in so
- 53:03Speaker 2: much trouble. But I have a you know what, I'm
- 53:05Speaker 2: gonna be honest with you. We all do. Jack says,
- 53:09Speaker 2: there are some that do it to a ridiculous extent.
- 53:12Speaker 2: And I won't say her name. There's one that like, well,
- 53:16Speaker 2: like if you post a picture and she's not face
- 53:19Speaker 2: tuned to like the n's degree is like, take it down,
- 53:21Speaker 2: take it down. She'll like, have you gotten that to
- 53:24Speaker 2: take it down? I have a feeling I know who
- 53:25Speaker 2: you mean, but I'm not going there. I've had to
- 53:27Speaker 2: pull pictures down.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I will tell you that I don't know how to
- 53:31Speaker 1: face tune. So so first there's that I can't for
- 53:34Speaker 1: the life and me figured it out. But also I
- 53:36Speaker 1: was saying earlier to Jackie, like like you're gonna see
- 53:41Speaker 1: my real face, Like there's only so long that I
- 53:43Speaker 1: can hide it for I'm gonna be on the TV screen, so.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Liar, liar, pants on fire.
- 53:50Speaker 1: But I will also disagree with you guys that everybody
- 53:53Speaker 1: is stunning. I was very surprised at probably.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Yeah for sure. Yeah, sorry, I was like, wait, wait, wait,
- 54:02Speaker 2: what what.
- 54:04Speaker 3: That's so funny. I feel like whenever I see people
- 54:06Speaker 3: in person, I always think that they are prettier. They're
- 54:10Speaker 3: either like taller or shorter, or they're just like.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Sometimes you know, people say to me wow when I
- 54:16Speaker 2: meet someone in real life and they're like, are you Jackie,
- 54:18Speaker 2: And then they'll be like, wow, You're prettier in person,
- 54:20Speaker 2: and I never know whether it's an insult or not.
- 54:23Speaker 1: I'm always like, thank you, like I'm not sure you know,
- 54:26Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, but I think like eventually, yes,
- 54:30Speaker 1: go on.
- 54:31Speaker 6: I feel that's people like not knowing what to say,
- 54:33Speaker 6: you know, and then they're probably like, what the.
- 54:37Speaker 3: Fuck is.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Yeah? I love you guys so much much the most fun.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Can we just say one more time that I'm kudos
- 54:49Speaker 1: to you and respect for doing what you do and
- 54:52Speaker 1: doing it in such a kind and respectful way. I
- 54:56Speaker 1: don't think I've ever heard either one as a matter
- 54:58Speaker 1: of fact, and I won't. I'm not going to name
- 55:02Speaker 1: names or even the event. But I got jack a
- 55:05Speaker 1: text from Evan once and he thought that I was
- 55:08Speaker 1: uncomfortable in an interview that we had done, not due
- 55:12Speaker 1: to him due to a circumstance and he and Evan
- 55:16Speaker 1: you sent me a text like you're She's like, just Jen,
- 55:20Speaker 1: I am so sorry if you felt uncomfortable, and Dany
- 55:23Speaker 1: and I do anything. The thought that we would make
- 55:27Speaker 1: somebody feel embarrassed or uncomfortable just tears us apart. So
- 55:33Speaker 1: if we did that or not, they didn't do anything,
- 55:37Speaker 1: but if you felt that way, yeah, we're so sorry.
- 55:39Speaker 2: You're definitely not like the others. I was telling Jen
- 55:41Speaker 2: that there was there's one blogger in particular who I flocked,
- 55:44Speaker 2: but he would just destroy me. And I don't know
- 55:47Speaker 2: if he's done it in recent years, but he would
- 55:49Speaker 2: go after me so badly every part of my life,
- 55:52Speaker 2: my looks, my job, my body, my everything. And I
- 55:56Speaker 2: just a lot of respect for you guys because you
- 55:59Speaker 2: told the line like you do your jobs so well.
- 56:02Speaker 2: But also everyone loves you so thank you, especially.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Like we would just never want because like I know,
- 56:08Speaker 3: how like that being.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Said, don't stop doing your thing, Okay, don't stop being shady.
- 56:14Speaker 6: Okay, Oh well, Jersey's coming back soon, so yeah I will.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Yeah amen, Yeah, So you better be nice to me
- 56:22Speaker 2: because I might get a little spicy this season. We
- 56:26Speaker 2: may see another side of me this season.
- 56:29Speaker 5: I'm ready for it.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Yes, that's the thing is you do love it, and
- 56:33Speaker 1: it is your job and you your job is to
- 56:37Speaker 1: comment on it. But again, and it's enough already, it's
- 56:39Speaker 1: at nauseum. Our praise for you is becoming a little nauseating,
- 56:42Speaker 1: but it's true and I think it's probably not always easy.
- 56:46Speaker 2: So we thank you, guys. We love you so much.
- 56:51Speaker 3: I love you too.
- 56:52Speaker 2: Thanks for coming on the podcast. You guys, Bye, guys,
- 56:55Speaker 2: We'll talk to you soon. All right, So let's wrap
- 57:05Speaker 2: all of this up with some ways that you can
- 57:08Speaker 2: actually take a little break from social media if you
- 57:11Speaker 2: want to. It's much easier said than done, but we
- 57:13Speaker 2: do have some like ideas for you. There was a
- 57:16Speaker 2: really really interesting article that I found and they went
- 57:20Speaker 2: through some really good ways to take a break from
- 57:22Speaker 2: social media. First thing is, too and this is a
- 57:26Speaker 2: Harvard study, we should say, the first thing is to
- 57:30Speaker 2: know what your triggers are. So like, for me, if
- 57:32Speaker 2: I know that people are going somewhere that I was
- 57:35Speaker 2: not made a part of, that is a trigger for me.
- 57:37Speaker 2: I mean not like a huge trigger, but that's that's
- 57:39Speaker 2: what would make me go down to black hole. So
- 57:42Speaker 2: know what your triggers are so that you can recognize them.
- 57:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I have.
- 57:46Speaker 1: There are certain pages that I'm that just always, you know,
- 57:51Speaker 1: either just they just triggered me, they pissed me off,
- 57:54Speaker 1: they would ever so apparently, and I had to learn
- 57:57Speaker 1: this when I joined the Housewives. If you unfollow someone,
- 57:59Speaker 1: that is a declaration of war. Yes, that is call
- 58:03Speaker 1: for bloodshed.
- 58:04Speaker 2: Yes. So, but you can mute absolutely, And I have
- 58:07Speaker 2: muted several people without on very harm because I don't
- 58:11Speaker 2: have to see their nonsense anymore. I can't upset me.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Very helpful, beautiful. I love that. And so if you
- 58:19Speaker 2: do have a trigger, though, and you can't avoid it,
- 58:22Speaker 2: then instead of signing on social media during that event,
- 58:25Speaker 2: go for a walk, do something different, go out to
- 58:28Speaker 2: dinner with your family, do something else, do anything. This
- 58:33Speaker 2: is something that's been really helpful to me. Make it
- 58:36Speaker 2: a blanket. Know that you cannot look at social media
- 58:40Speaker 2: first thing in the morning, like give your dad's time limits. Yes,
- 58:43Speaker 2: I give myself until I give myself. I wake up
- 58:46Speaker 2: usually at like six thirty in the morning, and I
- 58:47Speaker 2: do not let myself check social media until after I
- 58:51Speaker 2: drop my kids off at school in the morning. So
- 58:52Speaker 2: it's like after eight o'clock.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Well, you'll be happy to know that that's what the professional,
- 58:56Speaker 1: my professional told me, my therapist. So the first instinct,
- 59:00Speaker 1: right is and it happens in the middle of the night,
- 59:02Speaker 1: the eyes open. It's the reach for the phone. And
- 59:07Speaker 1: I've had to work very hard on this. But not
- 59:10Speaker 1: reaching for the phone, getting a cup of coffee and
- 59:13Speaker 1: all of this is so not me. I've started to journal.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I don't I've never been able to meditate, but I'm
- 59:21Speaker 1: just taking a certain amount of breaths and understanding that
- 59:26Speaker 1: all of what's going on on my phone is not real.
- 59:29Speaker 1: So trying to be present, trying to even you know,
- 59:33Speaker 1: watch the news, and starting off my day without the
- 59:38Speaker 1: immediate you know jump.
- 59:40Speaker 2: It's very helpful. The BS. Yeah, there's also apps that
- 59:43Speaker 2: you can use, like there's something called the Freedom App
- 59:45Speaker 2: and the Cold Turkey app, and they really limit your
- 59:48Speaker 2: access to social media. You could also delete social media apps,
- 59:52Speaker 2: but that's not really going to work for us, you
- 59:55Speaker 2: and I. And also do you hear what the young
- 59:58Speaker 2: people are doing now? They're getting dumb phones. It's like
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: remember the flip phones that we used to use. And
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: by the way, I saw that like landlines are coming back,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: like the ones that touched your wall with the spiral cord. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: my dad has a landline attached his home. Well I
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: love that. Well, I mean, yeah, dumb phone in school.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: That way you can't check everything. But you know, I
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: probably won't be doing any of those things aside from
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: avoiding people. And I don't check first thing in the morning,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: and that what we say, no what we do? Yeah? Right?
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: And also like maybe.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: See how it feels right, so if you can. I
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: hate giving advice like this that I know I'm not
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: going to follow, but like sell.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Maybe we should follow it because you'll have more free time,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: you'll sleep better without that blue light right before you
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: go to bed. And this is the one that's most
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: important to me is social media tricks you into thinking
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: that you're connecting with people. But you know the difference
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: when I am really with my friends and really face
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: to face and doing something together where we're really connecting
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: in real life, it feels completely different. There's really laughter,
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: there's real tears. Yeah, you know, it's different. You know
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: when it gives you, if you sign off a little
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: bit more, it gives you more chances to connect with
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: people in real life, and that's really important to your
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: mental health. I may try just because I feel like
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: after this, uh we can go ahead a drink instead
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: of not too yes you guys, all right, Well, we
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: love you guys. This was such a fun episode to do.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you so much, and please drop comments anything
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: you guys maybe want to talk about.

- 1:01:38Speaker 2: a review, follow our page, and we love you, love
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: you so much. Bye bye, guys.
