Latest / Connor with Honor: AI, Real Estate and Real Life / The AI Access Gap, Explained Simply
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Everybody's getting a hammer, and the biggest players got a nail gun a year early with a crew attached to it.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like a brand new tract with a VIP list.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Before the sales office ever goes open to the public, the builder's VIP list gets that first pick, those corner lots, the view lots, the ones backing up to the open space.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Now, by the time the public walks in on an opening Saturday, the best lots already have names on them.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Now, nobody broke a rule, that's just how the list works.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: AI works the same way.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: So when GPT-4 came out in March of 2023, Morgan Stanley's wealth management side was announced the same day as one of the handful of Launch Launch Partners with early access.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: A Wall Street firm was building it into its business before most of us had even heard of it.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And the rest of us got the public version and figured it out on our own.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Hold on to one word for me, rent.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I'm also going to come back to that one.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: It's also kind of like a pocket listing.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Some of the best homes never hit the open market.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: They trade quietly, agent to agent, buyer to buyer, before the public ever sees a photo.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: In AI, the pocket listings, they're the custom versions, the private deals and the engineers sitting inside the big company offices.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: The public gets the open house.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: The big money gets that walkthrough before anybody else knows the house is for sale.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: And then there's the price.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like a toll lane on the freeway.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Same road, same traffic, but if you can pay, you get to go around it.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: The top AI plans for regular people run about$200 a month.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: The big companies sign deals for capacity and features you can't buy at any price.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: That's the same technology, but a totally different lane.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Now the labs say some of the most powerful versions are held back for safety.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Sometimes that's real, but from the ground floor, it feels the same either way.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: You get it last.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And that's the access gap.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And the gap years again, this time in tools.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: The people who get the best tools first get further ahead before the rest of us even get to the starting line.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Now back to that word rent.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Most of us are renting RAI every month from a handful of companies, and every renter in Santa Clarita knows what that means.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: The landlord sets the price.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: The landlord sets the rules.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: The landlord can change both whenever the lease is up.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Here's the good news, though, the hammer is getting better fast.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And you can own one.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: There are AI models that you can download and run on your own computer in your own house that no company can shut off or raise the price on.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: I run them on my own machines.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like the difference between renting an apartment and owning your home.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: When you own it, nobody can raise your rent.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: So this goes into the transition moonshot as well.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: When a worker gets displaced by AI, they shouldn't be handed the leftovers.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And don't forget, it's not really AI doing it.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: They're not the prime mover.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: It's the human being behind the AI.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And they should get that same tier of tools the big companies use, not the hammer while everybody else holds the nail gun.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Equal tools so a person who lost a job can build their own business with the same power that replaced them.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: I'm not mad at the people with the nail gun.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: I just want everybody on the ground floor to get off the waiting list.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And tell me in the comments are you renting your AI?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Are you owning it?
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: And what would you build if you had I'm building this plan right here on the show.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: One piece at a time.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Come build with me.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor with Honor.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Over and out.
