- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: What can't we just win a game?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: Can I blame Michael Cassfield for this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Scratch claw.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: or can't believe USC is undefeated in the SEC.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, we're in the big tent.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: What's the record?
- 0:40[SPEAKER_03]: Oh no!

- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: at all.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, everybody.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: Hello.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: It was a late one as he wins 49.30.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_03]: Take it away.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_03]: With your, your early model log.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: uh... i will do that as soon as i send this tweet uh... for the car cast uh... blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
- 1:50[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was realistically never in doubt.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think after USC scored the first their first touchdown, it was pretty much clear that these two teams were not going to be able to go toe to toe here.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought that
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: USC was just clearly the better team, that doesn't mean that USC played particularly well.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the defense, this was definitely their worst performance of the season, certainly from the first team, which actually gave up points this time.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: It felt like this was the sloppiest performance for U.S.C.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: to start in season.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: There were a lot of penalties.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: There was just a lot of like little mistakes.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: It just felt kind of off, which maybe sort of goes along with the theme of the day, which is I watched college football from the moment I woke up to now.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: And the theme of the day was sloppiness, was teams getting into trouble with teams, they should not have been in trouble with.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: There were a lot of really disappointing performances across college football, including a lot of,
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: teams that are on USC schedule looking not good, not great.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so it kind of tracks that USC would also have a weird sloppy performance.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think the main difference here and the reason that we already know in the chat and I already know people are freaking out about the defense and the like and I'm not going to like gaslight you into saying
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: into thinking that the defense isn't a concern because there are major concerns about this defense that we have seen in this game and in previous, but I think that in the grand scheme of things, the ways that USC struggled with Louisiana.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: compared to what a large portion of U.S. of the teams on U.S.C.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: schedule compared to what they did this week.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: U.S.C.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: came out okay.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: We will talk about the defense for sure.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: We will certainly talk about the freshman, Bowman, Mosley, KDW all put on a show again.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: We will have to have a conversation about the quarterback,
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: But it was still a relatively comfortable performance despite the sloppiness that made it not nearly as satisfying a performance as we've seen in other games.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think that that's right.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think that like in solid verbal parlance, the blank S blank Saturday, this was sloppy Saturday, absolutely.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: Given how the day went.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_03]: I sort of agree with a comment that we got in the chat from Willie that says this is a wild week for college football as a whole.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just glad to get the win this week for some reason as opposed to having a lot of complaints.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's where I am.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_03]: And like you said, it's not like there isn't for
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: a lack of concerns on defense like what the the the run game situate run defense looks like as soon as Gda have a series comes out of the game or as soon as Luke Wafel is no longer on the field like that's the physical concern being able to cover deep
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: with Erlacher and Pierce is a concern.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like, absolutely, these things are concerns.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: At the same time, this was a sleepy sloppy game in which, like you said, it was never in doubt as C scored 49 points.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they gave up 30 this is it being an 11 o'clock Eastern game is unfortunate in the sense that of like people waking up and you know looking at the score are going to be like, oh, that looks that looks weird and I don't I was it was a it was a weird
- 6:24[SPEAKER_03]: He was a weird game, but it wasn't like a weird, oh my god, the sky is falling type of game at all for me.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I thought lunch went field was great.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_03]: He, if you rewatch this game, just squint and imagine that SC is ULM.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: And then you're like, holy crap.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_03]: The fourth quarter is incredible for lunch, lunch, windfield.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously you don't want to ask these defense to look like ULM, but I think it goes back to
- 6:58[SPEAKER_03]: There's this team is so young, this team is like four things at once.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_03]: They are very young, they are very talented.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think they are ready to compete.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that they are a combination of experience and inexperienced in a very polarizing way, right?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like on offense,
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: Jade Mayava is very seasoned at this point.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's he's a grizzled veteran as far as quarterbacks go in college football, right?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_03]: Because this is year three in the system.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: Your offensive line is a veteran offensive line and you've got guys on defense who have experience like Devon Bryant and GD Abaciri, Alex Vinceumerin, but like
- 7:45[SPEAKER_03]: Beyond that, it's a bunch of kids.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: And a bunch of kids, like Mark Bowman's game I think is perfectly encapsulated in this.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_03]: You're gonna have a main moments.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_03]: You're gonna have some moments that are not great that you wanna learn from like his holding penalty.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_03]: But like, it's game three against Louisiana.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_03]: When everyone knows you just had to get through these three games healthy before you get to the big 10 season.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's I think I think focusing on the freshman here is it is a good place to start because I think that this USC team.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: is relying on an extraordinary number of freshmen to contribute, and it is extraordinary just how many of the freshmen are contributing at a level that is well beyond what you would expect from a single freshman, let alone like four of them.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Bowman, and mostly, and Cadendix and Wyatt, and Wafel, those guys alone are performing at a level that I don't think we have seen a group of freshmen perform at, at the same time.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: USC is also relying on a bunch of freshmen who haven't risen to that level, which is completely
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: unsurprising for many of them in that like expecting them to be ready to contribute is kind of wild.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like Rock Hill had that the penalty, the stuffing the figure.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's points on the board.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Tom Tom to boy.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: is coming in with the second team on the defensive line and the run defense suffers because of it.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot of freshmen that are just getting, you know, getting run in the secondary and at linebacker and elsewhere, and you can just see the dip in the performance when they are out there on the field.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: And that is not a slight against them because
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: USC is already getting immense performances from this freshman class like you couldn't possibly expect USC to have.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: five, six, seven, eight freshmen who are ready to perform at that level.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: So this is just all kind of part for the course for me.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think what this game, it's two sides of the same coin though.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: You see the difference.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: that freshman are making for USC, at the positions that they're making them.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: And like, that is incredible that USC is getting those performances out of them.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: On the flip side, it says a lot about USC's depth that they're having to turn two guys like Rock Hill and Tom Tom and, you know, those as early as they do in a game,
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Or that like someone like Talon O'Eli is as close to having to be thrusting that into that rotation as he is right now.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Madden Reardon as close to that rotation at safety as he is right now all of those guys like it says something about the depth on USC's defense which is something that we've been saying for a while like USC has better depth in theory.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: but in practice, so much of that depth is so young.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: It is unfair to expect them to plug in and not make mistakes and not look shaky at times.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like Tom Tom is, it's awesome that he's even in the position where he can be on the field in the moments that he is.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: But like true freshman defensive linemen, defensive tackle.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's it's not most of the time those guys are not ready to go at that stage, you know, so it's it's just the reality of what this team is and that is a worry I have been sort of saying from the start that
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: The the strength of USC's depth, it simply isn't there, especially on defense and that USC won't be able to survive an injury or two in the wrong spot because they don't have Guys that I feel ready to trust in a lot of those positions.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: But that is a reality that cannot be helped.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think the difference between me and a lot of the reaction from fans that I see online and in the chat, everywhere is that the way I look at it is like, what can and can't be helped.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: USC's coaches could be the best coaches on the planet and they could still, you would still not expect them to get
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: like top performing performances out of all of the freshmen that they're that they're turning to or even all of the backups or whatever.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: So where I'm at with this is USC is has this flaw that they're gonna have to deal with, they're gonna need to get lucky this season on that front and they could or they could get lucky with health.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: With health, yeah, or USC should have to write out
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: guys getting experience and and growing and getting better and and you know
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: see how they do towards the end of the season.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: But it's also like I'm not hitting the panic button after a game like this.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: No, because the first team guys, if this is a game that's very well, it that sends you to the panic button, like, it's going to be a miserable experience.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_03]: If this is the game that sends anyone to the panic button, when you actually face
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a, is there a worse panic bucket button at that point?
- 14:26[SPEAKER_03]: Could you have already pressed the panic?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I, I think that this is, um, there's a lot of explanations for this one.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody in the chat, Andrew in the chat says we always say settle down and then act surprised when we get beat by two possessions against good teams.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think that this performance could just as easily be, like you said, one of those sleepy sloppy, a lot of teams had winters when USC is getting looking ahead to big to big ten play, all of that kind of stuff.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: they happen.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: It could just be a fluke.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: It could also be a red flag that we're looking back on and saying, you know, what USC's defense wasn't ready to go and Louisiana was a sign of that USC's defense is going to be super vulnerable to this that or the other thing.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And this game was going to be a sign of it.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: But again, I think it just goes back to like I predicted USC to go eight and four this season.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you know, if we're talking about will USC win the big games like.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it looks more likely today than it did yesterday, even with this performance because I watched Oregon and, you know, I watched Washington barely beat Utah State.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I watched UCLA spend three quarters in the middle part of the race with San Diego
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: struggle with temple in the first half and, you know, I just, I think that you, you look around college football and a lot of teams are struggling way worse than USC.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: So like in that sense, I think USC's USC looks better prepared to get through their slate.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: now that I felt like what I've said on Friday.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just sort of like a in the context of the day where USC was sloppy and struggled, it's not screaming alarm bells in my head in a way that I'm kind of on another day where I watched, you know, you dub or UCLA or Penn State or anybody else just like roll through the opposition.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: I might have felt differently, but today just today was just
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and and and and to before that you go like Trudgeon Freaks says Shelby Crawford or Lacker Pierce or not freshman.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I and I think that what we saw from Earl Lacker again, they're putting him in that deep safety spot.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: I hate him.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think he's.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: ready to play there in meaningful snaps.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I am concerned about Christian peers.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know where this better safety that USC has is because it's not a real hacker.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Crawford looked fine.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't throw him in with that.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: But like
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, USC is not perfect on defense, but they have a lot of really like G-Day and Wafel and Vensumerin and this new look Desmond Stevens and John Tas Williams are such an improvement for USC in so many in so many ways that like Every team is going to have some weak links.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: USC's first team defense does have some weak links.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: But the strong links are stronger than we've seen in a long time, so it's all just about finding balance and how to sort of hide your weaknesses.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, like the problem is, is that if one of those guys I mentioned isn't on the field, whether because they need rest or because they're injured.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the USC is going to run into some trouble, but so long as they're on the field, like I have it in my head right now.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, remember 2013, when or drawn took over.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: And one of the, when they when they started winning because they got to eat cookies.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but more more than anything like defensively, that defense really turned things around in part because they consolidated and as wild as it was and I don't know how sustainable it was and USC got lucky they were even able to do it, but they were like playing 13 guys on defense.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: They were just they were not digging into their depth.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: They were, they were.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're fact-checking this, but I want to say like in the Stanford game, like they play like 13 guys.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_03]: I, I do not want to sit here and legislate.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: What is that the right word there?
- 19:11[SPEAKER_03]: Um, a judicate?
- 19:14[SPEAKER_03]: What's the word I'm looking for?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: Whatever it is.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_03]: Um, the 2014 season.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I mean, so the 2013 season, but like,
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: I think so much of the perspective of that season is marked by the narrative of Ogeron where the reality is.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think the season plays out exactly the same way with or without Kiffin involved.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_03]: And the same thing with the deep like the defense didn't get better.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: The defense was what the defense was.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_03]: Like,
- 19:51[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not like there were a lot of changes there.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_03]: But we're not talking about 20.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're not.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: We can go down that rabbit hole.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_03]: This game was just showed all sorts of things because you talked about the strengths and yeah, look, wafer looked incredible.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_03]: Trent Mosley, incredible, Mark Bowman,
- 20:21[SPEAKER_03]: uh... can mix and why it uh... had is weird touched on catch that he had uh... great concentration yeah king miller had his moments like
- 20:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's so many positives to take out of this over any sort of panic button feelings as a whole.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_03]: One thing I want to touch on, though, is re-litigate, yes, re-litigates says, well, you're in the chat.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: Um, there was questions in the chat where is it, uh, rummert.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_03]: He says, it's my office shoulder a problem.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: Nick sees as is Jayden injured a her, I hear he might be.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_03]: I want to talk about Jayden my office here because by all accounts, you look at the box score and I think that
- 21:22[SPEAKER_03]: He had five touchdowns with yes, it was news to me when I looked twenty nine of go up to nineteen twenty nine two hundred sixty one yards five touchdowns in interception pass it right in of one ninety one point one by all accounts excellent game even with the interception excellent game
- 21:39[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, you mentioned either this was the worst performance of the three extremely small sample size to say worst about but yes relative to the first two weeks in which he was perfect last week, especially he was perfect picture perfect.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think we do have to wonder about the hit he took against San Jose State when he was scrambling and got sort of fell on his on his throwing shoulder.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: My, there's, there's, there's not always Fresno State.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Fresno State.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_03]: There's no reason to like,
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: Hit the panic button, put it on the tin foil hat and say that, you know, he's, he's playing through a touring labor or whatever BS you want to put out there, right?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: But I have Keaton Slovis PTSD.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: I do too.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_03]: And you and I were talking about this during the game.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_03]: Remember, the movie, Rookie of the Year.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: when Henry Rowan Gardner, like his arm goes back to normal.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: And then he just like loses all of his powers.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_03]: That's that, and the kid and slowness of it all is what I fear for Jayden Mayaba.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think that this showing, like assuming that that's the case is an insane overreaction.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and especially if there's no indications about his health, also if he is hurt or never going to hear about it until the end of the season.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: no and and i think it's i think it's way too early to like project some keyton slow this levels of of simply not being the quarterback that you were before yeah like this keyton actually got knocked out of a game and then what the quarterback that he was before like the twenty nineteen if you if you if you're if you're if you're if you're new to the show i've been to the if you're you're new to the war uh... keyton slow has had an incredible uh... freshman season
- 23:47[SPEAKER_03]: He was great, like those generally really good people say and that he could be like a number one pick when he's a junior, et cetera, he gets hurt and hauled able.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_03]: And he, like, lost Velo on his Velo was down in 2020, and then, you know, just like the arms strength, the same.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: He never looked the same after that head.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, never looked the same.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: We got a super chat.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, we got a super chat.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: Hey.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: Super chat from here.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: A D shampoo that says, uh, find on.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: Find on.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, AD.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's very generous.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_03]: We appreciate you.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: We appreciate our super jets.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_03]: You guys are the best.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_03]: We can do this show without you, especially AD over here.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_03]: AD all day.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: One thing I was going to say about my
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: He missed more than a rational fear, by the way.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, the key and slowest thing is an irrational fear.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but still, it's not totally irrational, because he was so off at times like, there have been times to Jane Myova, where he has thrown passes that should have been intercepted and were intercepted on many occasions, and usually it felt like bad decision-making.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't feel like there was bad decision making today.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like he was just painfully off target.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: On multiple throws.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: I need to watch the interception back.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was a bad throw.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_03]: I think there was a bad throw.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think part of it is a bad throw in that read.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_03]: I also think that part of it is Mark Bowman and Tuna Kines.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_03]: both through the like scrambled drill.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: Ports each other.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_03]: And then the defender is in the middle.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: And so like my avahassa throw to one of those two.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_03]: And it goes right there like just throw it away at that point.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: But that's the set.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the the the intersection touchdown is a terrible throw.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, my avah is capable of of getting that throw deeper into the end zone and it's just a bad throw that it gets completely bailed out on.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: he missed like there were a couple throws that he just threw way over top overs of somebody or just way out of bounds like it just he just looked like this this didn't look like bad decision making this look like the ball is not coming out properly.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: So in that sense, that is a concern.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_03]: Because I would argue that like a gamer, oh, yes, but like, no, yes, but I'm saying like I would rather have a game in which he just didn't have his zip on the ball, but made correct reads versus his reads going over his arm in the sense like because like part of the thing
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: If he's truly going to take a big step forward this year, it's going to be like he yeah he took a step forward after his first season and if he's going to take another step forward it's his maturation as a reader of defenses and the decision maker and all those kind of things like.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but none of that matters if you can't make the throw like that sure the problem here is that.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like if it's bad decision making, you're probably looking at one or two moments in a game that just don't go your way, if it's not being able to complete.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: passes if it's not being able to be accurate you're going to be missing way more than just two throws and you're going to end up throwing bad interceptions and you're going to end up putting your pain your receivers out to dry and you're going to hit ball interception all sorts of stuff so like it's I get what you're saying but the ability his arm being functional
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: at this point is more important than him taking that big step, because what he was last year was perfectly adequate in my view.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, if you want to be a playoff team, you need him to take a step forward.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: But like if he just
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: gave you exactly what he did last year.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think USC would still win a lot of games.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: But USC won't win a lot of games because if he's missing passes as badly as he was missing as often as he was missing tonight.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully that's just maybe he did get a little dinged up last week and he didn't have enough time this week to really get his arm fully adjusted and maybe just another week will give him that chance.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: But I am filing this under concerning.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: There have been questions in the chat about
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: And, and, so, Jacobine Stewart dressed and then didn't dress.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_03]: He turned his back on the boot.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, and, and so Trojan fight says, are we concerned that Jacobine Stewart still isn't ready?
- 29:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure if I'm buying that he could have played the night.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_03]: I have reached this stage.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm here as if you're at this stage too.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: I am not counting on to Kim Stewart at all.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_03]: He is surely a bonus, and this is not a knock on him.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: This is not a doubt of a pessimistic view about him or anything.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_03]: When he is healthy, he will be healthy.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_03]: but you have to assume he will not be there.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_03]: You have to assume he will not be like, I think it would be so big for this defensive line.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_03]: If then Sumeran or GDA adversary were not on the field in the middle and they could still get the same effect in the same disruption from having Joaquim Stewart.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_03]: And like those three guys, always on the field alongside Luke Wafel and Camcroffard.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's, that's what you want.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_03]: We haven't seen that.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_03]: We didn't see it much last year.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_03]: We haven't seen it this year so far.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_03]: And when it happens, it happens.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: But at this point, like, it's a bonus.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's a bonus.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bonus entirely like USC does need him back.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: USC desperately needs him back for that depth on defense to be that much stronger.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: It is kind of essential for USC being able to make it through the season to get him back.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: M. I expecting him to get back and immediately hit the ground running and be like Thanos kind of level no I still don't know if he is going to be as a defensive tackle.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: go to enough against the run to say that he is up there with the Wafels and G'day's and Vince Humorins, as far as, like, USC's run defense with those guys on the field looks just night and day better than last year or in any other combination that we see this year.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: So the way I'm looking at James Stewart is, like, this isn't like getting G'day have a Siri back if he were missing, you know?
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: getting another question mark back and we still need to see what he actually looks like once he's in there.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I am, you and I are both old hats at this.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: We've been around the block.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: We know an injury prone to player one.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: We see one.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I hope this isn't the case.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that he comes through and is a monster up there with a Syrian way full and those guys and that he's able to say healthy for the rest of the season.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just am very wary of food injuries to be quite honest.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think when it's all said and done,
- 32:53[SPEAKER_03]: This defensive line with Dr. Keem Stewart in there, it's gonna be so freaking fun to watch.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that it'll be easy to sit here and start talking about like, oh, is this actually wild bunch three year, whatever it is?
- 33:11[SPEAKER_03]: But he's not there, he's not there right now.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, like,
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: You hope he's not Kenny Biggleau in the sense of like a guy who just didn't have a great bill of health and ultimately like that Standard development because you got to be out there to develop you know what I mean And one more thing on the defensive line just just to mention it walls in my head because I was having conversation with a friend
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: But he is still a freshman and you still see that little threat.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like why does Luke Wafel not have a sack through three games?
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: I would I would say at this point it's because he gets sucked inside and loses outside contain or loses outside leverage and the quarterback's able to spin away from him and he's not able to finish off that sack.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like that is purely at this point.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: getting used to the college game, getting used to the speed of the quarterback in the college game, learning how to deal with being shepherded by an offensive lineman or all of those kinds of things.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: That is the kind of thing that you learn to get the feel of and you learn from your mistakes and then you start being on top of that and finishing out those plays.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a reality of having a true freshman as good as he is and he is outstanding, especially in the run game, but that is the, that is the, the thing about having a true freshman, I will also caution with your came Stuart, like you said, you got to be out there to be getting.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: the reps that teach you all these things.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: And when Jequim is out there, he is still a true sophomore.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's still a guy who has not, G-Day didn't start to look like a player who could make a difference until he was a junior.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we're now seeing him
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: fully formed as a senior.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like it takes time.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: So he's a junior now.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's a true junior.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, as a sophomore, he started to take that stuff forward.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: But even last year, like he wasn't the finished article, he was still dealing with this stuff.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: So, Joaquin probably, you have to sort of accept that that might also be the case for Joaquin.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I, we, we will see how it goes.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: The thing about Luke Wafel though, the benefit of playing the position that he does is that there's half credit to be had in the effort, right?
- 35:55[SPEAKER_03]: look at adversaries getting all the half credit in the world in the sense of like he's been so disruptive and he's making things happen without getting to the quarterback I think he has one sack right like
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: without getting a bunch of tackles for loss.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_03]: Well, as he could, because he's able to disrupt and wafer despite not having a sack is making big impacts on the game.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: He led USC in tackles tonight, seven total six solo with a tackle for loss, a defensive end, making six solo tackles.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: within two yards.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, he has of all of his tackles, one, two were for more than two yards.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: There's a nine yard scramble by windfield if I remember correctly.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: He comes from the backside and chases him down.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: So like even that was a very impressive tackle nine yards on the field.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then there's a four yard completion to Babinow that that way full stops four yards down the field.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_03]: So like, yeah, I think Babin are still running on that just way.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: So like Luke Wafel is his impact is immense even if he's not getting like finishing it off with with sacks or whatever and once he starts doing that it's going to be over for a lot of teams but you know this impressive I'll tell you what's not over for a lot of teams that's the NFL season what's of course starts
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: hours, well, it already started, but Sunday NFL Sunday starts just hours from now.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_03]: Of course, at least you, your team and my team, both playing home games on Sunday, both nine point home favorites,
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: Do you?
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: I am always wary when there's a line that is that big.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: Well, then if you haven't thought, you can go over to my bookie and sign up with the promo code, rot, rote and start your season off.

- 38:31[SPEAKER_03]: At least we've made it 41 minutes into this into this car cast.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it's probably more like 38 minutes if you're listening to the audio version of this and we I think if said Trent mostly's name once This, when during the watch a long two weeks ago when SE played Santa's a state in the blistering heat.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I made a remark on your watch along that this is the Trent Mosley game and our pal Ruppat Marcelo said the key is not to have a Trent Mosley game.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, for this not to be the Trent Mosley game, but a Trent Mosley game.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_03]: I think this was the Trent Mosley game of the season so far, and that we have multiple Trent Mosley games means you're getting a Trent Mosley game every week now at this point.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_03]: He has an incredible touchdown catch in which he jumps high into the sky and snags it out of the air, and he had one of the best punt returns I've ever seen.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_03]: not because he made a million guys missing the in the Reggie Bush way or not because he just collided through the defense in the a door jacks in way.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_03]: This was like I said this in discord during the game.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: He, Trent mostly looks like Steve Smith.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_03]: He's got the body of Robert Woods,
- 40:28[SPEAKER_03]: like Mike Williams and like that that bricks my brain how is he trucking dudes he how is he's like running through bodies and has like four to speed the burn after that how how like this is said and then the other thing how did 24 seven have him as the 34th ranked
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: There's 33 dudes better than this guy.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's how it's definitely a question worth asking.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: As I put on Twitter, Trent Mosley is five, he's listed on U.S. he's roster at 510 180, which means that he's 510 180, like if we're, if we're,
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: being a team that is as generous as possible about the size of their players.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Five 10 180, any runs, he's got the speed that you would expect of a player, a good player, who's that size.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: But he also plays like a six to 220 pound like tight end or running back or something like that like he is so difficult to take down he is so tough.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: He is balanced.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's just he's so smooth.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then yeah, if there's if there are players near him, he's going to run through them or shake off a tackle or do whatever, but then if he's in the open field, he's running like silky smooth like red deer or a dory, it's just I like I don't I don't I they were comparing him to dramatic chase on the broadcast like
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I've seen a player that certainly not a freshman, that sort of does it.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen really, really good freshman receivers in college football lately, but the like,
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: But mostly he's doing feels unique to those freshmen or seepers.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, like we've seen Percy Harbin comps.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember Percy Harbin enough to say that he is Percy Harbin reincarnated, but like,
- 42:48[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, it feels like a unicorn in his ability to just do all of these things at one.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_03]: Will he stand?
- 42:57[SPEAKER_03]: And that the end around that he had, yeah, that was brought back with the Mark Bowman holding.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_03]: Call.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_03]: He was so smooth.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_03]: He looked like when you're in a Photoshop and you are dragging a cut out of a player from one side to the other because you're making a graphic of some sort and you drag it from left to right and it just moves that looks like him when he's moving just like perfectly steady across but fast.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: I, his, his, his, his statline today is also just kind of funny, like, to catch his two catches for 33 yards.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: And a touchdown, like, that is the quietest receiving statline.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if we just saw that, we'd say, Oh, he had a kind of quiet night.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: But then you consider, yeah, the one rush for 19 yards.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then you consider that punt return touchdown.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: He has 138 all-purpose yards in this game.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: Two touchdowns.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: He was a key factor in U.S.E.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: scoring even on a quiet receiving night.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he almost did the adory, the adory hat trick.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_03]: which is a special team's touchdown receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_03]: He almost did it.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_03]: Almost did it in 19 yards on that end around.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he needed a little bit more and no, no holding call to bring him back.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: But he's, yeah, he's, he's special man.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's just special and, and yeah, it'll be interesting to see what he does against tougher opposition.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: But what he's done in these three games alone, it just, it feels monumentous.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: And it's very, very exciting to think that you see how much more football we get to see from Trump
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're going to talk about Mark Bowman, I forgot the button right here.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_03]: He makes me drill.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_03]: He makes me drill.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_03]: He does.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: He does.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: He leads USC and receiving tonight six catches 83 yards, two touchdowns.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: He hurdles a dude.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: He makes just tough grabs.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: He makes himself
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's so good guys.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's so good.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what's scary to think about.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, any other night, if we were going to start with a freshman on offense, who made a difference, like we would start with Mark Bowman.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: We have to start with Tremosley because he's insane, but like Mark Bowman is already at a level that just eclipses past USC tight ends.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_03]: Was that and I'm trying not to be hyperbolic while you're talking.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to look this up.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: Was that the best tight and performance we've ever seen for me, U.S.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_03]: He tied in since John Alred caught eight.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_03]: 10 matches against against, well, since Fred Davis, at least Julie, since Fred Davis.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: I, I wonder, well, I don't know, Daniel, I'm out of baby had had a big game or two, but I might have been like 60 yards and two touchdowns.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think Daniel, I'm out of babies.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: Where is it?
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's somewhere over here.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it's not on the board.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think we remember him as
- 46:49[SPEAKER_03]: great not I'm not going to say greater than he was because he was awesome and like speaking of injury injuries yes but like I think it's one of those things where like you pull up the baseball reference on a guy and you're like it wasn't as much as I thought and I think that like Daniel Wanda Bay Bay is one of those guys because the impact was so memorable
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: his best is the production his best game was two catches for well best yardage game was two catches for 90 yards in a touchdown um... he never caught two touchdowns at a game and his his but probably is his best performance of his career was definitely actually seventy eight yards one touchdown yeah
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, no, I mean, Bowman obviously competition level is different here, but it's up there.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's definitely up there.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, where was it joining the Texas Dominique Berd against Oregon state clears.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_03]: Dominic Bird wasn't clear catch in that ball in the fog.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: What are my favorite like snapshots of USC football is just Dominic Bird in the fog?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm pulling up Bird's Game Logs right now.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_03]: He caught seven catches, 85 yards, two touchdowns, that Oregon's taking.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_03]: So this was the Oregon's taking.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: for him like it would like for a moment they're like statistically like that's a near identical game uh bird also had eight for seventy two against Arizona Fred Davis mind you uh what what game off the dome for you because I got one in my head I I think it's the rose ball
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have like a single game that comes to mind to be honest.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think they'll blend into one glorious mix.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: I've looked this up.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_03]: uh... the roast ball gets mentioning at three catches for thirty nine yard so i think normie well hold on uh... it's best game it doesn't wash it in state nine catches about twenty four and two that that clear that clear yeah Illinois in the roast ball seven catches eighty seven yards in the tough uh... for a day of his man he was a freaking fun yeah but like i mean i think it's safe to say the like markbowman is
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: is is performing at a level.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that he'll ever have to be what Fred Davis was for USC because one of the reasons why Fred Davis his production was so insane was because USC didn't really have receivers that they that they were leaning on in those years.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: He was the main the main offense.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: the ability to be Fred Davis.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to be, we can wake out.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to be catching eight passes or whatever.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: Six passes because there are so many other guys that can get involved in there.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: But like, we've talked about, like,
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: USC tight ends were sort of in the range of like each one would maybe get three maybe maybe four on a really good day where I could see Mark Bowman have five every game minimum just at least the I think the guy that we really have to talk about with Mark Bowman I know Brock Bowers is easy because he's
- 50:37[SPEAKER_03]: He's a very good comp and he wears the same number 19, but like I think it's Mark Andrews right because Mark Andrews was at Oklahoma in this link link if in this link in right Jesus Christ this link in Riley offense I just looked this up Mark Andrews three games and what you caught two touchdowns three one of those September 19th 2015 his third game as a sooner
- 51:07[SPEAKER_03]: a 87 yards receiving that game with two touchdowns Literally exactly what I don't point to nine That's crazy.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm like from an 83 yards, but like He was so good the hurdle was was incredible.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think you and I woke up everybody on the street.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you know, I'm at that one and then yeah the the little curl that he had
- 51:35[SPEAKER_03]: I thought was, was great for the second touchdown where that is, it's just a perfect, easy, simple play design where he's just supposed to turn around and he knew exactly where to be.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_03]: My office throwing it before he even turns around basically like everything was perfect.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_03]: That's what you want in the red zone.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: And he's so tough in the red zone too, because
- 52:00[SPEAKER_01]: he takes a big hit.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think he got the wind knocked out of him probably that hit, but he hangs onto the ball and you know, it's not easy to hang onto the ball when you take that kind of shot, but he's tough.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's really tough.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah absolutely also just to stay on the tight ends.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was nice to see to garage craft out there.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: Also make a really tough grab.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_03]: You made a really tough grab.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_03]: Nearly made a really good effort on his first target as well.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think I think having him there is huge.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that will be good for Bowman as well because if he's healthy, he's going to be in the trenches with him and practice to learn, try to osmosis all of the how to block and the big 10 kind of stuff.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: How to be the sort of big 10 professionals tight ends, if you will.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think is great for him.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: It came to X and Y.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: It had the catch in the end zone, not as big as performance, three catches, 43 yards that you can even say that tells you how good he was in the first two games.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about the penalties.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_03]: I think there this is something that was
- 53:22[SPEAKER_03]: a big deal for the Trojans tonight, 8 penalty 78 yards, and Link and Riley in the post game interview right on the fields on Big Town Network pointed out the penalties as being sort of the culprit for a lot of the second half issues.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_03]: and he's not wrong.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_03]: The one of the touchdowns that Louisiana scores is after the rock hill penalty on the rough in the kicker that would have been a missed field goal and zero points on that drive and it turns into seven.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: So, um,
- 54:01[SPEAKER_03]: These things can not happen when you extend drives.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: There was a face mask or a third downstop if I recall correctly.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a third and nine stop face mask.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: There was a holding on a kick off the rough in the kicker.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then over on the offensive side two holding penalties on the on the tight ends, uh, uh, Bowman and Ashcraft.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that's something you got to clean up and then fall start on to no kind and a fall start on Hayden Treader.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's the the face mask on 3rd and 9 and they rough in the kicker are the ones that that will hurt absolutely Alicia what it what else stands out for you from this game in these particular moments players anything
- 54:55[SPEAKER_01]: Anthony says anyone else think the head of head official looked odd.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: Dude gave me the creeps.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: He.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember what he looked.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: I remember multiple times as he was announcing penalties thinking of myself like this is like he was giving
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: robot.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_01]: He was giving.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you Andrew.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: There was something weird.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's something off a little bit like uncanny valley going on so you're not alone there.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I, I, I,
- 55:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not pleased with the the the penalties because USC had been doing such a good job of limiting penalties and this was just a reversion back to the USC that we have seen for several years where it's not a USC game unless they're getting a penalties.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_01]: So definitely need to clean that up.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think this was
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: generally just, that was a sign of the sloppiness.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was the penalties.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was, the, uh, excuse me, have a, sneeze, Jesus.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you?
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so yeah, it was just, you know, you can't have that.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you clean up those penalties,
- 56:24[SPEAKER_01]: They don't score this many points.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_01]: You win by more.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: You look better, so those are things that, and realistically, if you want to look forward to the rest of the season, you just look at the teams that we saw throughout the day who ran into trouble, those are the things that let's a team in and gives them hope and gives them
- 56:52[SPEAKER_01]: potential to pull off a very unexpected upset like we saw today.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_01]: And the fortunate thing for USC in this game is that even though they were making all of those mistakes, like I said in the start, this game was that it was never close.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_01]: There was never, there was never any doubt there.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_01]: But if you make those mistakes on the road at Rutgers,
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: I know Rutgers is Owen too, but they'll still come with some pride and they'll still see what Oklahoma state did and what Michigan did and think like, well, we could we could do something.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_01]: You certainly can't do that against Oregon or high state or Indiana or Penn State on the road.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_01]: So these are things that.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: that you just got to clean up.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: Also, Lamont, go to sleep.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: Lamont is staying up.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's 335.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: Go to sleep.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: Go to sleep.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_01]: Go to you have our permission.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: We love you.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your support.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: We really appreciate you.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_01]: But please go to sleep.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_03]: Lamont is the absolute best.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_03]: We met Lamont in Tempe or technically Phoenix.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_03]: I guess that are at our pre ASU meet up in 2019.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_03]: Lamont's awesome.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Trojan fight also brings up something else that I noticed what are your thoughts on the players still seem to be jumping through the gaps on field goals in P.A.T.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: So the same thing that went against them versus Oregon ice.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: I remember there was a P.A.T.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: where I saw it.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was that was the end of like, why are we, why are we doing this?
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I, this is one of those things where like, I understand that the rule is you can you can jump over the gaps, but you can't jump over the player.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_03]: but I also don't think it's worth doing it.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_03]: When it is so difficult to determine that to adjudicate that, adjudicate?
- 58:49[SPEAKER_03]: Is it just adjudicate?
- 58:51[SPEAKER_03]: Adjudicate.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_03]: It is adjudicate.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_03]: That on the fields, and so why risk it?
- 58:59[SPEAKER_03]: Like why risk it?
- 59:00[SPEAKER_03]: For an extra point,
- 59:02[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_03]: You give up the touchdown.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_03]: That's I just assume it's seven anyways.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe maybe that's the defeat of that.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_03]: Um, one of the things I want to talk about where the tackles for loss for SC, they had three in this game.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_03]: And it is wild to me.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_03]: And I just looked up a lot of the numbers just now.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_03]: If you would have asked me, if I was at the game, and you would have asked me, like, I didn't see the imaginary yellow line on the field, and you asked me how many tackles for loss I see would have had.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_03]: I would have said eight, nine, ten, and I just looked this up.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_03]: Stephen Blanco, Louisiana running back, five carries, negative one, negative one, one, and one,
- 59:51[SPEAKER_03]: uh... Reagan Anthony Reagan Jr. six one one two eight five uh... garner jj garner uh... eighteen that's big four one one two there is so many once uh-huh ones and zeros and like
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_01]: I can't say for certain that this is the case, but I would hazard, I guess, that those one-one ones that were then broken up by a six or a 19, like by my recollection of the game, any time those bigger chunk yards were coming, adversary, wafel, or venceromer, and we're not on the field.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: That group up front is, it's like the run, their ability to, to just run stop is so impressive so far this season.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think Ben Sumeran is the unheralded guy, the unsung hero on the defensive line.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_03]: Because adversary and way full are making highlight real plays and Ben Sumeran is the
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: who's there just like do any of his things in the ground and letting those other guys.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: Quick as I do.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's been strong since we're saying it was before.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're saluting the East Coasters.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: Michael is signing off from from South Florida.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: So good night, Michael.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_03]: He's just important to get some sleep.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_03]: Not me.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_03]: Different Michael.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_03]: Great name by the way.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_03]: So many people in the chat saying good night to
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know, but I agree totally with Vince and we're in, I think that he, every team needs that guy though.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_01]: You need that, that defenses, tackle who just eats up blocks, eats up space, and let's the guys around him just do the work.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_03]: So, talking about wafel, not being able to get to the quarterback yet.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_03]: Part of that is that lunch is also hard to just lunch is hard to take off.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and lunch is a hell of a player.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_03]: He was such a gamer tonight.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_03]: I thought let's see if you reminded me of like Chuck E. Keaton or what we think of as Chuck E. Keaton when he had like played against like Tennessee or some.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember who we played against and people were like watch this guy.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_03]: He's fun.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I see bottled him up in 2013.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_03]: We were talking about the 2013 defense, but
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: One of one of the things is with Wafel is like, in a perfect world, Wafel is cleaning up Abassiris mess, Abassiris cleaning up Wafel's mess, and those guys are knocking the quarterback into the other one to get the sack.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_03]: even if it's not just a guy where a play where he's just one his win move immediately and gotten in the back of which we've seen plenty of those but even if it's not one of those clean up you know what's there I think that's the thing that you'd ideally like to see and that's what we saw last week against
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_03]: Friends, we're state where Judy Abbassiri was having Kennedy Earlocker, clean up all of the disruption that he was wrecking havoc with.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_03]: We got a ton of questions in the chat.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_03]: We've started a bunch of them here on our chat feed, so we're going to run through some of them here.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_03]: You've got mail.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_03]: Not really mail, but chats.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go through this.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_01]: uh... what are people think about the replay review of the past ruled a catch all i have thoughts i'm not gonna say that it wasn't a catch does this not what i'm saying it but i i i i i i i i i i couldn't tell from the replay that they showed i think it's great that they're showing us these replays this should be standard yes
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_03]: but also it's a little bit here in real time.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but also it's a little wild to me that they make a call based on a single replay where it is incredibly blurry and then like I don't I it's entirely possible it was a catch but like can we not look at any other angle to just see what's going on with his hands?
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have an issue of it not being overturned
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I think it was just sort of the, the certainty, um, both on the broadcast and with the review people of like, yeah, he's clearly got possession.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm like, I'm just a ball is a blur in his hand.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_03]: How do we know that?
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know that.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_03]: And the way his foot is like, I couldn't tell when the toe was off of the, the grass.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_03]: And at that point, the like, I,
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_03]: And if he's dragging the foot, is he dragging across the top of the blade to the grass?
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_03]: Does that count?
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_01]: I would just like there to be more assurance of more than one angle.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's a, I don't think that's a too much to ask.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I, I, I, I, I fully agree.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_03]: Um, William Chatses, you all see the receiving core change in much.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_03]: Heinz not getting a catch and briefly, we saw, uh, Tural Anderson.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_03]: We did see Tural Anderson.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_03]: He returned a punt, which, can I just say?
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_03]: If a guy's coming off of an injury, I said he's up for any camp, there is nothing like more leeway Jenkins coded than throwing the dude on a punt return.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he looked fine though.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_01]: He looked great.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he didn't think he did a good job with it.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I don't, I honestly don't know because.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_01]: We know what to know kinds can do, but he's been very quiet since he returned and you as he hasn't needed him because the freshman have been going off and how do you insert Tural Anderson in there when the freshman are going off and you know what you're getting from from those guys.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's been pretty stellar, and maybe you take the advantage of easing both of them back in and not asking that much of them, maybe you reward the freshman for their play and just keep using them the way you have.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think we could certainly see that rotation tight enough once the conference play starts, but the pecking order right now, like it's hard to convince me
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_01]: Katie W and mostly shouldn't be at the top of that pecking order straight up.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, these are, this is the best problem in the world to have.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_03]: It really is.
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I, I think it's the same thing with Tron Baker, like Tron Baker getting more run than Booby Feaster.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_03]: Booby Feaster was someone that, you know, not just because of the name, but like he was higher ranked coming out
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_03]: if you know exactly how the coaches or whoever thought about him going into the season or thought about those two in comparison to each other and Tron Baker's like a head of movie feaster in the pecking order.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a great problem to have.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_03]: None of these guys have given any reason not to be out there with the exception of Thrall Anderson and his injury stuff.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_03]: That's great.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_03]: That is great.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_03]: And so whoever it is, catch in the balls, as long as Trent Mosley's out there because he's really freaking fun to watch, go for it.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_01]: Trojan fight points out that Teno kind's only had 16 snaps tonight.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he says I suspect he's being brought back slowly and is now 100% I would buy that.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_01]: I would buy that considering that he was he missed most of the off season.
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_01]: Even if it's just his conditioning needs to get better because he wasn't around for any of that.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like you don't need, especially because you have the freshman doing what they're doing.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_01]: You don't need him to be out there.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_01]: for every snap yet.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_01]: You can work him back in and be safe with it.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_01]: And in that sense like that's kind of why I'm okay with Joaquin Stewart not playing in this game because I'd rather than bring him back when he's ready to come back than rush him and end up making something worse.
- 1:08:52[SPEAKER_03]: Jordan Biden, the chats, I think this is a partial thing, so I'm going to sort of piece it together.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's a source of objects about how much you should hit in practice given the struggles and the defense over the years, but I think I keep going back to a current Signetti interview where he said and it cuts off.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm guessing Kurt'signetti, pro-hitting in practice.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's anti-hitting and he says he limits, he limits like hitting, he doesn't think extensive like life tackling or anything like that is important.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_03]: I that's that's that's fascinating to me and I
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_03]: to be honest, that's kind of where I assume most coaches are.
- 1:09:38[SPEAKER_03]: I know that, like, this is one of those things where, oh, you should be hitty.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, why are they wearing full pads every day?
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_03]: Why are they doing it?
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_03]: And like, well, teams don't do that anymore.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's not 1962.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like, this isn't junkyard boys where junction boys, what was the movie?
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_03]: Whatever it was.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_03]: uh... where they're bright was like killing those kids in the heat running them ragged uh... that was like heinous uh... this this isn't this isn't the same thing you like people care about the well-being of their players but also the health because the health is important uh... for you to be able to be able to play on Saturdays you can't play on Saturdays if you get hurt on Tuesday
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I know that like there's a there's a given take of like you got to be able to know how to wrap up.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_03]: You got to know how to how to tackle and all those kind of things.
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_03]: But like there's there's a given take.
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_03]: I would rather you play on Saturday.
- 1:10:46[SPEAKER_03]: Then get hurt in a tackle drill on Tuesday because a guy was running and you hit him or something.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, my belief has long been that USC's problem is is not and has not been the degree to which they hit and they hit and practice, I think USC's problem has been largely mental on defense, so, you know.
- 1:11:28[SPEAKER_03]: Realistically, these first three games were all about getting through them healthy and give you signs of what was to come and learning who could be in the rotation and who you could rely on.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's what these three games were for more than anything else.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_03]: as he has gotten a lot to see of who the guys that can count on is and no matter what happened in these first three games, the first month of the season will be defined by whatever the hell happens against Oregon.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_03]: If they would have if they lose next week against Rutgers and they come around and beat Oregon the following week,
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_03]: But, well, the season was always a good measure from the previous week.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_01]: The season was always going to be defined by U.S. his performance in those bigger games.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Morgan is in that, is in that, but where they have now lost to Oklahoma State and a shocking upset that just is, was one of the bigger ones that we've seen in college while in a long time, and it will not matter if Oregon goes out and beats
- 1:12:49[SPEAKER_03]: Oregon is just as lightly to make the playoff now than they were 24 hours ago.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about that, but they are in the position that Texas was in last year, which is basically that you no longer have any margin for error in your conference play and that margin for error is big when you've got tough teams on the schedule and Oregon does.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_01]: They get a
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, the other chat says there's no preseason in college football.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_03]: It goes on your record.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_03]: Then it counts.
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I felt as a preseason.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_03]: No, I agree.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_03]: And this was a thing that always hated about high school.
- 1:13:39[SPEAKER_03]: When coaches would say like the non league games were preseason like or like other kids in school were like, oh, this is still a preseason game.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_03]: We're not in the Marine League yet.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's not how the preseason works.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I agree.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_03]: There's no preseason, and this is also why you have to throw these guys.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_03]: They had the stat today that SC was the youngest team in the big 10 and the average age was like 19, which is crazy.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to see what BYU's number is, by the way.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_03]: And in comparison, because it will be hilarious, because BYU's probably like 24 and a half.
- 1:14:25[SPEAKER_03]: And a five-year gap is wild.
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_03]: Anyways, I think that when you have those games counting, I think, yes, they absolutely matter at the end of the day, though, like you've got to win the Big 10.
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_03]: and go from there compete in the big tent.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_03]: So like that's that's where your focus is also the narrative, this simply the narrative.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to know, if Oregon was noted aim and it was a non-conference game, the same thing would would would stand that we'd be sitting here saying that noted aim at the end of September was going to be the litmus test.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the oldest team in college football is UTSA with an average age of 21.02, I call BS on that.
- 1:15:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is what Roto Wire came up with.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_03]: How is it not be why you?
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_03]: Well, are you to stay?
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Be why you is a Utah State of S3rd at 20.89.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_01]: BYU is actually not in the top there tied for 43rd with 20.42.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then let's see where USC are they just they just have a bunch of pre-mission guys
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Basically.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then USC is 132nd tied 132nd at 19.87.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Georgia is the youngest at 19.81.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's what my question was going to be if there was any power conference teams that low.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Texas is 134 at 19.86.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_03]: legitimately I thought BYU's average would be like push in twenty three and I'm not saying this is like a joke like that that's when it's been before like that there I remember like years ago like their whole offensive line was like twenty four I wonder how much like an IL and transfer stuff and all that has just changed that for them yeah
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, dumb question with the new five or five thing, you can just, you can still pause that for a mission.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_01]: I believe, I believe there is an exception for the mission.
- 1:16:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and that, that would make sense.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_03]: Buddy on MC says the question is,
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_03]: Will me will we make the playoffs why off don't talk about playoff you kidding me I get two thoughts in this, but you answer first.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_01]: I I Think USC has a good chance to make the play off Yeah, because I think at this point when you look at
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oregon.
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think what has struck me about Oregon in these last two weeks is how their offensive line doesn't look up to stuff.
- 1:17:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that the lot we I think it was a big question going into the season about the two coordinators offensive and defensive coordinator leaving if there would be brain drain a bit at Oregon and based on the offense sort of just
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wrote about this today that last year, Oregon allowed 27 or more points, three times all season, and they've allowed 27 in both of their games the seasons of our.
- 1:18:11[SPEAKER_01]: Their defense just doesn't look.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_01]: organized in the same way that they were.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_01]: They're still just as talented as they were.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_01]: They don't look as organized.
- 1:18:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that for me, that game is now looking more winnable.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_01]: And when you look at Ohio State having to travel across country, I've always felt that game was possible for USC.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that Indiana is an automatic loss.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_01]: very high potential to be a loss, but a 10-win U.S.C.
- 1:18:48[SPEAKER_01]: team gets into the playoff and I'm not ruling it out yet.
- 1:18:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I will be predicting it yet, having said that I did literally just write a projected college football playoff bracket after this week, where I had USC in.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_01]: Overorgan.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I actually think this is a case of optimistic, at least I'm not predicting it, but I'm also projecting it, so take that for whatever it means.
- 1:19:26[SPEAKER_03]: today, this second are the highest they've been since Caleb Williams pulled his hamstring.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I agree.
- 1:19:38[SPEAKER_03]: And take that for whatever it's worth.
- 1:19:41[SPEAKER_03]: And like so much of it is the situation, the landscape, right?
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_03]: You can be
- 1:19:50[SPEAKER_03]: that team makes the playoff in a 12 team playoff.
- 1:19:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like, yeah, and they play that this year.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_03]: This is why like I have a hard time with the, oh, this team never made the playoff, but these, this team did.
- 1:20:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, well, one team played in a situation where they could make the playoff and the, the other one didn't.
- 1:20:12[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, like Pete Carroll played in the time when they're only two teams could make the playoff.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_03]: That's why only made two national championship games.
- 1:20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:20:20[SPEAKER_03]: So like, yeah, it's hard to compare these things.
- 1:20:24[SPEAKER_03]: And so, and so much of it is what the landscape looks like.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_03]: There's a world in which 93 USC gets in.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a world in which 93 USC is number 22.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what does the landscape look like?
- 1:20:43[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if we're going strictly off I test independent of everything else, I think S.C. looks like a playoff bubble team in or out, pick the time of day that you want to debate on them.
- 1:21:02[SPEAKER_03]: S.C. looks like the number 14 team in the country.
- 1:21:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think it's a very fair assessment, the number 14 team in the country and when everything's clicking, you look at them and say that's for sure a playoff team and when things are a little shaky, you're like, this is why they're not top 10.
- 1:21:21[SPEAKER_03]: Another thing number 14 in the country, if you're at number 14, you're in the playoff discussion there and they're going to be number 13.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_01]: on Sunday.
- 1:21:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, today as it was.
- 1:21:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:21:34[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, really on that bubble.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's a fair place for them to be right now.
- 1:21:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:21:43[SPEAKER_03]: I, I think so.
- 1:21:45[SPEAKER_03]: Um, all right, uh, last thing before you rep up.
- 1:21:50[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, from a Marty has asked twice.
- 1:21:52[SPEAKER_03]: We have both of them start.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_03]: First one was I assume Jesse and Badger are sound to sleep.
- 1:21:58[SPEAKER_03]: The second one are Jesse and Badger sleeping or wondering if they will get a WALK.
- 1:22:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I can report.
- 1:22:08[SPEAKER_01]: Can you explain what Badger doing right now?
- 1:22:10[SPEAKER_01]: Badger is laying belly up.
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Badger, when he sleeps, he sleeps belly up.
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's very cute.
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_01]: He is laying at my feet, because we have a little dog bed right under the desk, get my feet.
- 1:22:24[SPEAKER_01]: And he is laying belly up with his head hanging off the side of the bed.
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_01]: He has been sound asleep for the entirety of the recording of this podcast.
- 1:22:34[SPEAKER_03]: At least his feet are using his knees.
- 1:22:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:22:39[SPEAKER_03]: If you will, as a footrail.
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_01]: I've literally been like rubbing his belly at times with my feet throughout this episode.
- 1:22:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:22:50[SPEAKER_01]: And that answer is, and I will say, can you see Jesse?
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_01]: I can't see Jesse.
- 1:22:56[SPEAKER_03]: I heard her.
- 1:22:57[SPEAKER_03]: She's not the other side of the monitor.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:23:01[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I'll say about Jesse and Badger for this too.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_01]: The game ended at what time Michael like 11.
- 1:23:08[SPEAKER_01]: 11ish.
- 1:23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:23:11[SPEAKER_01]: When I got up in like the third or fourth, third quarter or something, I got up to to go we feel my water or something like that.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_01]: And Jesse came with me from the studio.
- 1:23:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I went into the bedroom to get something.
- 1:23:31[SPEAKER_01]: And she immediately followed and jumped up on the bed and curled up and looked at me like, oh, we're going to sleep, right?
- 1:23:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then I came back and she followed me out.
- 1:23:40[SPEAKER_01]: And then I came and sat in here, we finished the game.
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Got up after the game started.
- 1:23:44[SPEAKER_01]: Again, Jesse, be-line, bedroom, up on the bed.
- 1:23:48[SPEAKER_01]: We're sleeping, right?
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, we're going back to the studio.
- 1:23:53[SPEAKER_01]: So Jesse is very ready to be a sleep.
- 1:23:58[SPEAKER_01]: Badger is a sleep straight up.
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_01]: They are tired puppies to be fair.
- 1:24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well, to be fair to them.
- 1:24:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like I have been Being a healthy person and I am
- 1:24:14[SPEAKER_01]: at the very least getting ready for bed, if not in bed by 11 o'clock every night.
- 1:24:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that was the time that they are used to, okay, we're turning in.
- 1:24:24[SPEAKER_01]: We are two hours past that.
- 1:24:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is, they are like, what happened to, this is how it was a year ago, Mommy, like, why are we doing this?
- 1:24:35[SPEAKER_03]: So the other thing is, both of them, badger in particular though.
- 1:24:44[SPEAKER_03]: on the SHIT list today, both of them giving reasons to be sent to the Carson Animal Shelter.
- 1:24:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I keep telling them there's no more empty canals there, unfortunately, because go to seriously go and adopt and find a find a friend there.
- 1:25:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's a sad place, but and I don't mean to joke about this in a terrible way, but like
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_03]: both of them.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_03]: On the nerves today.
- 1:25:15[SPEAKER_03]: So I think they were worn out from being bad dogs.
- 1:25:19[SPEAKER_03]: They might be.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:25:22[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:25:25[SPEAKER_03]: Last really quick thing Paul and L.A. says Michael what the hole is wrong with Chelsea looks like they have their heads up.
- 1:25:35[SPEAKER_03]: They're arsenal.
- 1:25:37[SPEAKER_03]: L.O.L.
- 1:25:38[SPEAKER_03]: Hashtag,
- 1:25:43[SPEAKER_03]: We didn't exactly get mulled by the tigers, mulled by the tiger.
- 1:25:49[SPEAKER_03]: Didn't exactly get that, but this is the J.P. Morgan and co show.
- 1:26:00[SPEAKER_03]: Joe Pedro, Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer, they're also good, and they all have telepathy with each other.
- 1:26:13[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, they, they, they, they should have won that game, but like they create so many chances it's fun to watch.
- 1:26:20[SPEAKER_03]: All right, yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't get to talk because my team, I genuinely did not see the score because I was avoiding scores this morning because I hadn't watched the Chelsea game, so I have no idea what happened in your game.
- 1:26:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not drawing by a spoiler alert, any Liverpool fans out there who haven't seen the score of the game is no no to full him.
- 1:26:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was just full and they had only lost their first three games.
- 1:26:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my team basically has just said, so I was rewatching Ted Lasso this summer, and I forget what season, but it starts with like, they're on an insane run of draws, like they just can't win.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_01]: They just keep drawing, like that's Liverpool right now.
- 1:27:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're just, this is draws.
- 1:27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Draw, draw, draw, draw, draw.
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Draw.
- 1:27:10[SPEAKER_01]: If they play good defense, they can't score.
- 1:27:13[SPEAKER_01]: If they score, they can't play good defense.
- 1:27:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's good news for USC, you know, so transfer and so live and well.
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_03]: All right, last thing, Roman in the chest is how crazy is it that 166 people are still in chat.
- 1:27:29[SPEAKER_03]: Here's what you don't know though.
- 1:27:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's more than that.
- 1:27:33[SPEAKER_03]: It's I see 186 right now because we have two feeds of the video.
- 1:27:38[SPEAKER_03]: The portrait and the lens.
- 1:27:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's the difference.
- 1:27:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:27:42[SPEAKER_03]: Also, if you've wondered why?
- 1:27:45[SPEAKER_03]: It is strictly so that way we can when we're done recording, we can download that version, the lens, the portrait version.
- 1:27:55[SPEAKER_03]: In case we want to, you know, cut clips to throw up on the TikToks, which you've been really bad at, but yeah, we will go follow us on TikTok, but we've been really bad about putting more stuff on there.
- 1:28:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we need we need to do more of that.
- 1:28:13[SPEAKER_01]: that this may be the best of both worlds to be honest it Liverpool is undefeated and it's not necessarily a great thing therefore U.S.C.
- 1:28:24[SPEAKER_01]: can keep winning.
- 1:28:25[SPEAKER_03]: So there you go.
- 1:28:28[SPEAKER_01]: Also shout out to Josh in Utah where it is 2 a.m.
- 1:28:35[SPEAKER_03]: All right, well, we're up at up there.
- 1:28:38[SPEAKER_03]: We will see you guys Monday nights to talk about SC.
- 1:28:44[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to talk about where they are in the AP people, probably 13, maybe someone behind jumps up, maybe SC jumps more than that, we'll see.
- 1:28:54[SPEAKER_01]: it really depends on how far Oregon drops to be honest.
- 1:28:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that Oregon should drop behind USC, but it's certainly possible.
- 1:29:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's certainly possible when they lost to an unranked Oklahoma State team on top of the Boise State Gate where people were wanting them to get dropped penalized more than they were last week.
- 1:29:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:29:18[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 1:29:19[SPEAKER_03]: All right, drudgeon fights a good show.
- 1:29:22[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see you next time.
- 1:29:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, we will see you.
- 1:29:24[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk about the AP people.
- 1:29:26[SPEAKER_03]: We'll also talk about the time for the Oregon game.
- 1:29:28[SPEAKER_03]: We will get that on Monday.
- 1:29:30[SPEAKER_03]: My prediction, by the way, NBC 430.
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's my prediction.
- 1:29:37[SPEAKER_03]: If you're listening to this on Monday afternoon, you might already know.
- 1:29:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's my prediction.
- 1:29:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's because if you look at that week, there's Iowa at Michigan.
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_03]: There's Notre Dame at Purdue, and there is Illinois at Ohio State.
- 1:29:55[SPEAKER_03]: Iowa at Michigan feels like the big noon kickoff 9 a.m. game.
- 1:30:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I don't, I don't know what exactly what the pecking order is in terms of who gets first pick on the draft that week.
- 1:30:14[SPEAKER_03]: If you're CBS or if you're Fox, do you take the Notre Dame Purdue game?
- 1:30:18[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's the only time you'll be able to have Notre Dame on the air and Notre Dame is an automatic X million, but we'll tune in.
- 1:30:31[SPEAKER_03]: I think you might, which is, well, and you probably want to avoid Notre Dame going back to NBC.
- 1:30:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:30:42[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe MBC is like, hey, Notre Dame is on the road here, but it's a big 10 game, we like, we kind of have to have the Notre Dame.
- 1:30:49[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:30:50[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:30:50[SPEAKER_03]: But my assumption is Notre Dame Purdue is the CBS game in the middle of the day.
- 1:31:01[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I what Michigan is the big new 9 a.m. game and S.C. Oregon is the 430 and BC game.
- 1:31:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's, that's what I, and, and put Ohio State Illinois on the big 10 hour.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_03]: That's how I see it.
- 1:31:23[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 1:31:24[SPEAKER_03]: All right until next to it also if SC organ is at nine nine a.m.
- 1:31:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way we all we write we all the We mark something bad march on whatever headquarters of whoever made that happen and burn it down We we march through rose months.
- 1:31:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah All right until next time we'll see you yeah
